Hook fics: @wickedval If you wanna be added to the list lemme know. _________ Y/n twirled around the pole with effortless grace, her movements fluid and seductive under the hazy pink lights of the club. The thumping bass of the music pulsed through her body as she owned the stage, drawing every eye in the room. But one pair of eyes, in particular, stood out to her—those of Tyler Senerchia.
He was seated at his usual spot, just a few feet from the stage, nursing a drink that always seemed to last the entire night. Tyler wasn’t like the others, who ogled and threw wads of cash in a drunken stupor. No, his attention was intense but quiet, almost reverent. He came often, never missing a night when Y/n was dancing, and she noticed. She always noticed.
Her sharp gaze would look his way between spins and sways, a secret connection they’d never spoken about but both felt. Tyler’s eyes never strayed from her, and despite the sea of other customers, it was as if the whole club faded away when they locked eyes.
Tonight was no different. As she slid to the floor and arched her back, her eyes met his, holding him in place. A slow smile played on her lips as she teased her fingers through her hair. She could feel the heat of his stare like a spotlight, and for a brief moment, it felt like she was dancing just for him.
Tyler’s gaze was unwavering, intense as always, but there was something else tonight something a little deeper.
As Y/n continued her routine, she felt a shift in the air, a tension that crackled between them. Tyler leaned forward slightly, his fingers gripping the edge of the table, and Y/n’s heart picked up a beat. She rolled her hips slowly, letting the music guide her, but her mind was elsewhere, focused entirely on him. Just like it always was.
She had danced for countless people before wealthy regulars, celebrities passing through, and strangers who came and went. But Tyler was someone different. There was a draw about him that she couldn’t shake. Every time she danced, it was like a silent conversation, a game of push and pull, where neither had been brave enough to make the first move.
As she rose from the floor, she spun once more, allowing her eyes to linger on him, daring him to look away but he never did. The dark gleam in his eyes told her that he was just as captivated by her as she was by him.
Her dance came to an end, but her thoughts were still racing as she left the stage. The other dancers and customers faded into the background. She felt his gaze follow her all the way to the velvet curtain that led backstage. Y/n glanced over her shoulder one last time before disappearing behind it, her pulse quickening at the thought of him still watching her.
She slipped into the dressing room, her mind spinning. What was it about Tyler that pulled her in so completely? He was a mystery she couldn’t solve, but one she found herself wanting to do more with every passing night.
As she touched up her makeup, the room buzzed with the chatter of the other girls, but she hardly heard them. Her mind was on Tyler, the way his gaze burned into her, the way he seemed so different from the rest. She had seen men become obsessed with dancers before, but this wasn’t that. This felt mutual, something that they both wanted and craved.
Y/n took a deep breath, looking at her reflection in the mirror, her makeup once more was flawless, and her hair styled in her favorite way. But the look in her own eyes gave her pause. There was anticipation there, a spark of something she couldn’t quite put into words. It had been building for weeks now, every time she stepped on stage, every time Tyler watched her with that quiet intensity, the connection between them deepened.
She stood, adjusting her outfit and running a hand over her hips, smoothing the fabric. Glancing toward the door that led back to the main floor, she paused for a moment. She didn’t want to leave things unspoken any longer, the curiosity gnawing at her. She wanted to know what he was thinking when he looked at her like that, and she wanted to feel the tension break, one way or another.
When Y/n finally stepped out from the back, the club was still alive with energy. The music thumped in her chest, and the lights flashed in pinks and purples, casting everything in a sultry glow. She scanned the room for Tyler, her heart pounding harder now as she searched through the crowd. He was still in the same spot not having moved as he leaned back in his chair, his drink untouched as always. But something was different tonight. He wasn’t just watching her, waiting for her to come back into view. His eyes were searching for something, or someone.
That being her.
Y/n moved through the room with purpose, her eyes locked on him, she could feel the heat of his stare before she even reached him, that magnetic pull drawing her closer. Without hesitation, she slid into the chair next to him, her leg brushing his, and for a moment, the noise of the club seemed to dim, leaving just the two of them in their own world.
"Hey, stranger.”
She said softly, a teasing smile on her lips as she let her eyes wander over him.
Tyler turned his head to her slowly, his dark eyes meeting hers with that same intensity that always sent a shiver down her spine. He didn’t smile, but there was something in his expression, something unreadable, yet familiar.
“Hey.”
He replied, his voice rough, like he hadn’t spoken in a while his gaze dropped to her lips for the briefest moment before returning to her eyes.
“I was wondering when you’d finally come over.”
Y/n leaned in closer to him her heart racing now as their eyes held each other.
“You’ve been coming here for weeks now, always watching. What are you waiting for?"
She asked softly, her fingers tracing the rim of his glass a curious expression on her face. Tyler’s lips curved into a faint smile, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes.
"Maybe I was waiting for you to make the first move."
Y/n felt a thrill shoot through her and there it was the game, the tension, the unspoken understanding between them. She leaned in a little closer, her breath warm against his ear as she whispered.
"Well, maybe tonight’s the night."
Tyler’s eyes darkened, and for a moment, it felt like the world outside their little bubble ceased to exist.
"Maybe it is."
She pulled back just enough to look at him, her heart pounding in her chest. This was different, more intense than she had anticipated. It was no longer just a game of glances and silent challenges. Something had shifted between them, and Y/n could feel it in the way she knew that after tonight things would never be the same again.

Just Another Glance~ Joe Keery
Tumblr media
Author's Note: Let me just continue to break hearts
Angst/ Fluff?
Tags : @ceriseheaven @josephquinnlover0 @irish-newzealand-idian-dutch @stillfalling30minslater @alyisdead
You were too interested in the color drink you had chosen tonight rather than looking up at him. He sat right across from you surrounded by friends that chatted amongst each other. Joe hadn't bothered to listen to what his friends were saying. Not when you were sitting across from him.
He had a deep frown on his face when you won't even look at him. he watch you raise the glass you were nursing in your hands and bring it to your lips drinking from it. Your eyes avoided meeting his and rather looking around the bar you were sitting at. There were couple making out by the bar, chatting or flirting with one another, there were people walking in and out and some are even trying to dance.
" So Y/N" your head turned to hear one of your friends call you. Joe turned his head towards your friend too wanting to hear what they were going to ask you. " Hm?" you asked. Joe wanted to run his fingers through your hair seeing the way it flowed and covered a part of your face.
" What's this new promotion I heard about?" you cleared your throat as you looked down at your drink than back at them. " It's really nothing, just another step into the business world"
Your lips were in a thin line as you responded not really wanting to talk about work. Joe's eyes watched your every move as you continued to nurse your drink in your hand. It was only your second glass and the night wasn't even starting. Why were you here? You felt like this whole bar stank up like old men and spice.
" Awe, congratulations then. I knew you'd raise up the ladder any day now" they said raising their glass at you. You rose yours in return before settling back down on the table. You didn't really want to drink anymore. Joe's eyes bore into you as he begged you to look at him. To say anything.
The both you had a fling, flirting with each other in a past but you ended it having feelings for him. You left without an explanation to him and leaving him with having to catch your voicemail, co workers saying you were busy or in a meeting or waiting for you at the front door of the house.
He was heart broken. It's been months since he last seen you and here you were in the same bar surrounded by yours and his group of friends.
" Thank you" the small mumble escapes from you and it catches Joe's attention. He missed the way you would speak, the way you would laugh, the way your nose scrunches up at moments, the way your eyes lit up when you talked about your favorite things and the way you said his name.
" I think I'll head home" you tell your friends, slipping out of your chair. " Awe, already. No" your friends pouted and begged you to stay but you shook your head.
" I'm calling it a night" you slip on your jacket and buttoning it up. " Let me walk you home" you hear that familiar voice. For the first time ever you meet those brown eyes of the man you fell for. His staring at you with adoration in his eyes and something else in them.
" I'm good" you tell him. " No need" you add.
Joe frowns as he shakes his head.
" Nonsense, who know who might be out there. You need a strong man to protect you" he says, with a slight smirk on his face. You rolled your eyes.
" Thanks Keery, but I know a thing or two about self defense"
" You were always the stubborn one of the group" He follows you as you waved your friends a goodnight walking to the door. A small touch of his hand on your lower back gives you shivers.
" You know you don't have to" you mumbled to him. He follows you slipping through people to get outside. The air hits you before he answers you, kissing your cheeks causing you to shiver burying your mouth and nose into your top jacket.
" I want to" he says. He zips up his jacket and take his beanie out of his jacket pocket. He puts it on, not taking his eyes off of you as stare into the night busy streets.
" I always thought you hated me since the last time you walked out my door" he says. The two of started to walk to your apartment. His hand hesitantly brushes against yours in the cold.
" I don't hate you" You don't really hate or use that word. You disliked things.
" Okay dislike me.." he rolls his eyes.
" Joe" you groaned. It's not that you didn't like that he was walking you home. It was the fact that he could you use this time to get things out of you and you'd say something stupid to have him run away.
He clears his throat as he looks over to you to watch you staring straight ahead into the street with a few people passing by.
" Are we ever going to talk about why you never called me back? Why you never want to talk to me again? Why you won't see me?" he asks.
" I don't think there is much to talk about" you lie. Honestly, you were afraid to tell him the truth and you had hope he would never find out. These were scary feelings and you didn't want to get hurt, especially by Joe who has been your best friend since you were teens.
" I call that bullshit!" he says stopping ins his tracks. " What happened to my best friend that used to tell me everything? What happened to the girl that would stay up with me to talk? What happened to the girl that used to come over all the time? What happened to her?" he asks, his voice holding desperation in it.
" She doesn't exist" you tell him. His eyebrow knit together.
" What's that suppose to mean?"
" Nothing, Joe" you begin to walk again to your apartment when you felt his grip on your wrist. He turns you around that you almost lands in his chest. His brown eyes are staring down into yours. His cheeks were flushed red from the cold and his breath fanned over your face.
" Talk to me" he says in barely a whisper. Your eyes gloss over looking up at him as he pleaded you with those pretty brown eyes of his.
" Joe.. I-I can't" you shook your head as you stepped back, away from his space.
" Why? What are you so afraid of?" he asks.
" To have my heart broken by the man that took my heart from the moment he told me I was too beautiful to pass a chance on" his mouth drops as he looks at you.
You pursed your lips regretting telling that you were in love with him already. You took a deep breathe and turned that your back was to him.
" I never expected you to love me back or say anything at all to me" you mumbled loud enough for him to hear. " I know I'm not the prettiest girl you've seen or would of been with."
You wiped away your tears as they kept running and running like a waterfall.
" You're out of league anyways, Joe. You're so sweet, so kind, funny, amazing, you have such a big heart, you have an amazing voice, you're really good at what you do.." as you continued to list the things you loved about him, he had walked in your line of vision.
With that one glance it all it took for you to stop your rant.
" What? Do I have something on my face?" you asked, reaching up and brushing away what you thought you did when his hand came up to grab it in his and pull you into him.
" You're so dumb" he says with a chuckle. You frowned feeling offended and were about to tell him off when he spoke, " You were too busy being in your head and ignoring me to realize I've been in love with you since the moment I have laid eyes on you."
You gasped, staring wide eyed at him.
" W-what?" he laughed as he shook his head, " You're oblivious and it's cute."
Your cheeks were red, not from the cold but adding to it as you looked away from him feeling them heat up.
" Are you going to kiss me now?" you suddenly asked.
" Something like that" he answers as he tugs on your jacket and bringing you into him as he wraps his arms around you and lean down. His chapped lips fell on yours like a perfect puzzle piece.
It was perfect. He was perfect.
You grab a hold of his jacket holding onto like he was going to disappear from your grasp. He pulls away, breathless.
" if it wasn't clear enough, I love you too" your lips widen into a smile with your eyes twinkling up at him. He captured this moment, the way you were looking at him right now.
" We should get you home, you're freezing" he takes notices that your shivering and takes your hand in his as he makes a run for it with you laughing by his side, running with him.

My name is Malcolm! I just finished the second year of the nursing degree program at Camosun College. Going into the nursing program, I didn’t think I’d have any chance to travel over the following four years. The summers would be too short, and I’d need to use that time off from school to work and support myself. So, when the chance to travel for school came up, and I had a couple other friends who were interested, I jumped at the opportunity.
Nursing in New Zealand was an eye-opening experience – while everything on the surface seemed similar, a lot of their practices were different, and forced me to engage and learn in new ways. I came away with a lot of new ideas about what my nursing practice should look like, and feel I grew a lot in my time there. Beyond the nursing experience, my friends and I had time to explore New Zealand a bit. We took advantage of our weekends, to do things in and around Wellington, where we were based. We also had a chance to do a longer trip, and a few of us were able to stay on for a couple weeks after the practicum ended. I made friends there I know I want to visit in the future and got just enough of a taste of New Zealand that I know I have to return and see more of it. After just 6 weeks, it already felt like a second home.

When her beloved grandparent had fallen ill, she made the decision to leave school to care for them. Deciding to get a job at the local med express as a nurse’s aid to bring in money for bills. And for a while it had worked well, but then as prices in everything she knew it wasn’t enough.
One of her coworkers had pulled her off to the side one day when it seemed like everything that could go wrong was. Liv had taken the time to hear her out and even offered a shoulder to cry on, and when y/n had finally composed herself. Liv told her of a little side job she had heard of.
“Have you ever heard of underground fight clubs?”
Sure, she’d heard of them but didn’t think that Liv would have any connections to anything like that, after y/n nodded her head Liv smiled. “I have a friend who wrestles three times a week and the last medic they had to patch up the fighters moved, and they’ve been looking for a new one. It would be a bit of extra money for you that you can make under the table. If you want, go to this address tomorrow night and check it out.”
She had smiled writing the address down on a piece of scrape paper and handed it to y/n with a time. “You don’t have to but I would definitely give it some thought.” “Thank you Liv I really appreciate you trying to help me.” Embracing the other woman, Y/n placed the paper in her purse and spent the rest of the day and into the next morning contemplating it. When Liv offered to go with her Y/n finalized her decision to check it out, if it was too bad, she could always change her mind. After that night the two women met up in the parking lot of an old abandon building, and after following a ramp down into a dimly lit basement they came across a room filled with people. A old ring stood in the middle of the room with two men fighting in it, Y/n stood transfixed as she watched them go at it, so much so that when Liv gently tugged her arm she nearly tripped.
“Sorry, this is the guy who runs the two Tony he can answer any questions you have. I’m going to go find Max and see if he’s had a match yet.”
Introducing herself to Tony the two said in a pair of seats farther back from the crowd and while watching the pair in ring discussed what the job entitled. Y/n wouldn’t lie it worried her a bit that this wasn’t exactly a legit building or business to be doing this in. But she couldn’t lie the amount she’d be paid was well worth it. After speaking with Tony, a little longer she agreed to take the job as medic.
That was just a little over a year ago and it was one of the best decisions that y/n had ever made. She had quickly created friendships with a lot of the fighters, especially one she really enjoyed watching. Y/n wasn’t sure of his real name he only went by Hook, but he was always needing to be patched up. Every match he won and yet he’d need to come see her. Not that she minded he was absolutely beautiful to look at and he always seemed to enjoy listening to her talk. She looked forward to seeing him the three times a week that she worked.
Little did she know Hook or Tyler as he had yet to tell her his name felt the same exact way, in fact he was absolutely smitten with her. He couldn’t help but love listening to her chatter away about a bunch of different topics. And although Tyler didn’t say much other than an occasional word here or there it was one of his favorite parts of the week.
So yeah, maybe he asked his opponents to do their best to make him bleed that way he could see her, and he may offer them twenty dollars to keep their mouths shut. But he just couldn’t bring himself to come to her just as himself. Tyler also made sure that all the guys that worked in this fight club knew to keep their hands to themselves. Otherwise, he would end them without a second thought and personally send them to their loved ones in a pine box. It seemed to be working for the most part, the guys would give him a hard time after his matches when he’d be walking over to the medic set up.
Tyler simply flipped them off and did his best to keep his blush hidden. Tonight, he had a big match against one of the newbies and was excited to see y/n. Y/n checked over all her supplies to be sure she had everything that maybe needed for any situation. Satisfied, she made her way over towards the ring to watch a couple of matches, sitting in a vacant chair behind the barricade. Waving and chatting to a few people the lights flickered signaling that the show was about to start.
The first two matches went well without any injuries, which was nice as it gave y/n the chance to watch Hook’s match. Her eyes followed his every move as he walked into the ring, his eyes scanning the room, when they finally settled on her. Y/n felt her face heat up as he smirked winking at her and leaned against the rope. As the match started y/n was on the edge of her seat watching as the two knocked the hell out of each other. Hook’s opponent Jay managed to slip out of the ring and leaned on the barricade, Hook followed him and the two started fighting around the ring. Slamming each other into barricades, when Jay slammed Hook’s back into a post Y/n gasped.
“Come on Hook!”
She cheered clapping her hands to encourage him to get up, the man groaned and carefully pulled himself up after crawling over to the barricade she was standing in front of. Jay reached under the ring and grabbed a large stick. Walking over he swung it at Hook and cursed when it slipped out of his hand hitting Y/n in the head. “I’m so sorry I didn’t mean that.” Jay said and grunted when Hook looked at Y/n then back at him punching Jay in the face. Climbing on top of him Hook began repeatedly hitting Jay.
"I warned you all not to touch her."
Tyler hissed quietly as he tried to shake people off of him that the ref had called to come and separate the two. Y/n held her face trying to get the throbbing in her temple to stop, Tyler yanks himself free and walked over to Y/n gently cupping her cheek. Scooping her up he silently carried her over to the medical area. “Are you okay?”
Tyler asked in a soft voice pushing the hair out of his eyes as he set her down on the bench, y/n nodded her head slowly. “Yeah, it was an accident I just need the throbbing in my temple to go away.” “Maybe you should go to the hospital or something.”
“I can’t drive.”
“Ill take you.”
Y/n slowly looked up at him surprised this was the first time he ever spoke to her; he didn’t owe y/n anything and yet he wanted to drive her to the hospital. “You don’t have to I imagine you’re probably tired.”
“No, I’m fine I just want to be sure that you’re taken care of besides it’ll be nice not to be the one bandaged up for once.” He smirked offering his hand and helped her stand up Tony came over to check on her and once given the okay to leave Tyler grabbed both their bags and lead y/n out to his car.
“I never did get your name, like your real name.”
She said after a moment of silence Tyler chuckled which felt like a burst of butterflies in her stomach.
“Name is Tyler.”
Holding her door, he made sure y/n was tucked safely inside her seat then got behind the wheel.
“I don’t think you can go inside without a shirt on.”
Tyler laughed again buckling up and started the car glancing over at her with his signature smirk.
“Don’t worry I’ll put one on when we arrive this is to distract you from the pain.”
Y/n couldn’t help the light laugh as her face heated up once more, she did her best to avoid glancing at his chest.
“How about after all of this is done and we’re sure you don’t have a concussion we go out for a bite to eat?” Stunned for a moment Y/n smiled looking over at him and gently nodded her head. “Yeah I’d really like that.” “Perfect it’s a date then.”

Working at the Hospital in Wellington
Coming into New Zealand, I was full of excitement and also extremely nervous. I had no idea what It was going to be like working in a completely different country with different policies and a different philosophy of nursing. When I first stepped onto 5 North at the Wellington Regional Hospital I knew I was in for the steepest learning curve of my career as a student nurse. I worked on an oncology, renal and hematology unit, three specialty’s all on one ward. I knew I had lots of learning to do and I was ready for the challenge. The amount of learning and growth that happened during the 5 weeks was something I did not expect to happen.
I had so many amazing opportunities and had so much growth as a nursing student, something I believe I could not have gained fully in Victoria. I was surrounded by intelligent hardworking nurses who fully supported my goals and learning. I was fortunate to make really special connections with the people in New Zealand. I would highly recommend this experience to future nursing students, this experience has impacted my nursing career and the learning I will take with me as I move forward in my post-secondary.

Strangers
Pairing: Hook x Reader Word Count: 1,839 Description: Going from strangers to lovers to well he isn't sure now.
I've had this song on repeat since it came out and just had to write a piece based on it. Lewis is truly a musical genius and I'm so happy he released these bonus songs. 🖤

A bit crowded for a bar on a Wednesday night with more patrons than he would have predicted. Someone had the radio turned up a bit loud and Wonderwall was blasting from the speakers. “I hate this song, it’s so overplayed and let’s be honest they could easily find better music.” Turning his head Tyler couldn’t help a slight chuckle hearing the voice go on about the song currently playing throughout the bar. His eyes landed on you, glancing back at the lads to see they were all to engrossed in whatever they were watching on Dante’s phone. Tyler slipped away from the table and walked over to where you were chatting with the bartender.
“You’re not the only one with that thought, I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve heard this play in one night on the radio.”
Normally he wasn’t so forward, just walking up to a stranger and talking to them but he just felt the need to speak with you. It felt like a jolt of lightning when you turned and smiled at him, his heart fluttered against his ribcage.
“Thank you finally someone who knows what they’re talking about. The name’s y/n pleasure to meet you stranger.”
“Tyler and a pleasure to meet you, mind if I have a seat?”
“Not at all we can continue to talk about why this song needs to be forgotten already.”
You laughed bringing your drink up to your lips to take some of the cool crisp liquid in. Tyler watched in silence for a moment, laughing when your eyes rolled as the chorus came on.
“Honestly give it a break already we know we know after all you’re my wonderwall.”
“Sorta ruins the bar experience, you here by yourself?”
“Yeah, my friend bailed on me, so I figured I’d just sit here anyway, what about you?”
“Nah, I came with some of my friends there are over at one of the tables, but I think they’re watching a game on Dante’s phone, so I just left.”
“Do you think they’d mind if you ditched them to hang out with a stranger?”
“I don’t think they’d be thrilled but they know I can handle myself besides New York is my city I know this place like the back of my hand.”
“Well do you want to go to a park and sit with a drink we can chat there just hang out or something, Long as you promise you’re not a murderer or anything.”
Tyler laughed shaking his head in amusement as he ordered two bottles of drinks to go.
“No, I’m not a murderer I know a park just a few blocks from here.”
After telling his friends what was happening and promising to text them once he got home Tyler led you from the bar. Chatting the whole way to the park where you two sat for hours nursing your drinks and talking about everything you could possibly think of.
That was the first night you stayed at his apartment the two of you both far too interested by each other to even bother sleeping. When he walked you home, he made sure to get your number pressing a kiss to your cheek with a promise to see you soon as he could. Months passed and the two of you became practically inseparable, if you were staying at his apartment when he wasn’t traveling for work, he was staying at yours. You even went to a few of his shows once you found out what Tyler did for a living. It was no surprise when he asked you out for the first time when he had a month off work. He couldn’t seem to get you out of his head every time he was away, he was falling faster than he ever had before.
“Something is obviously bothering you babe.”
Tyler said as he laid on his side behind you gently rubbing your back, you’d been a quieter than usual since he got back from his last show.
“I read some of the comments from your fans on that picture Danhausen posted, they think that you and Kris are secretly together. And then I saw a thread where they were listing people you would be a perfect match with.”
You spoke softly looking at the wall you weren’t sure why it had gotten to you suddenly, the two of you agreed to keep your relationship private. You didn’t want the spotlight but there were still moments where you felt like you didn’t measure up to the beautiful women, he was surrounded by all the time. Tyler listened his frown deepening the more you spoke. Gently he tugged your shoulder so you would roll over to face him.
“Y/n, I can’t say I know what you’re feeling because I’m not you, but I know what it feels like to question your self-worth and feel like you aren’t good enough. But I can promise you there’s nobody else I’d rather be with than you. I’ve never fallen for someone like I have you and I mean that; I’ve waited all my life to find something like this. What we have is special, what we have is something I wouldn’t trade or let go of if I could help it.”
Tyler held your hand in his placing a soft kiss to your knuckles as his thumb gently rubbed little circles into the back of your hand. You listen pushing some of the hair out of his face as your heart swelled.
“You really mean all of that?”
“Swear it on everything, I love you y/n and you’re the only one for me I want everything that comes with it. And if it would make you feel more secure coming out and telling everyone we can I just want you to know that I want you and only you.”
It was the first time he’d ever said those words and it felt like his heart was lodged in his throat as he waited for your response. Your eyes searching his face as you smiled at him and leaned close your lips brushing ever so softly against his.
“I love you too Tyler.”
The joy and happiness that flowed through him was one he hadn’t experienced before he cupped your cheeks and kissed you. His body relaxing more into the mattress as the weight that had been on his chest lifted.
He knew it was coming before you had even said anything had noticed over the last few weeks you pulling farther away from him. Your replies to his messages while away were shorter and took longer for replies. Tyler knew the distance was starting to affect your relationship but he couldn’t help it he had a job that needed to be done and that included traveling. The bigger he got as a wrestler the more he was needed for public appearances. You had tried to be understanding but it had gotten to the point that you weren’t happy. The rumors flying that Tyler had taken a girl back to his hotel room hadn’t helped either, he did everything to prove to you that he was faithful. It was one of his coworkers Anna who came by long enough to pick up her boyfriend’s duffle bag that Tyler had grabbed by mistake. When you stopped by his place on one of the few nights, he was home he knew as soon as he opened the door what was coming.
“You’re breaking up with me, aren’t you?”
Tears filled your eyes as you nodded your head, you hated the thought, but you couldn’t drag this out any longer. Neither of you deserved that Tyler bit the inside of his cheek as his eyes watered, he looked at the ceiling hoping you wouldn’t notice how much this was killing him. Opening the door wider he seen an empty box in your hands and knew you had come to collect some of your things. This was it, the moment he’d been dreading for weeks and had hoped was just a figment of his overactive thinking.
He watched in silence as you collected some of your items slowly erasing yourself from the apartment.
“I’ll be back for the rest soon or whenever you’re home again.”
“You won’t reconsider, can’t we talk about this?”
His voice was gruff with tears, and it broke your heart to see him this way, giving a slow shake of your head you swallowed the lump building in your throat.
“This is for the best Tyler, I’m sorry but I just can’t do this anymore I wish you the best. I’ll never forget you.”
Pressing a kiss to his cheek you left closing the door leaving him alone with the silence the only sound he could hear was the ticking of his watch the pounding of his heart in his chest. Then the quiet sobs that were leaving him as he fell to the floor. He couldn’t believe you were really gone; sure, he could have tried to argue with you more. But he knew once you made your mind up about something, especially when it came to your happiness, there was no way to change it.
Falling asleep that night had been difficult, the smell of your perfume lingered in the bedroom and when he woke up, remembering this wasn’t a horrible nightmare, he broke down again.
Tyler spent the following weeks after locked away in the apartment the countless beer bottles surrounded his bed and stubbed out joints in the ashtray on his nightstand. He did everything he could to try and forget you, hoping the booze would dull the pain and the high would numb his mind. Nothing worked, here he was the days slipping by blurring into one long period. Every time his phone rang, and it wasn’t you he’d leave it there. His voicemail was finally full, his friends and family had been by more than once trying to get him to answer the door. The only way they even knew he was alive was the occasional reply to his dad.
He felt like his world had crumbled and buried him under the crushing weight of grief, the end of a relationship that had brought him such a joy he hadn’t known before. While you were out there moving on, he was stuck in a cycle of drinking and smoking to try and forget it all. He couldn’t understand any of it, he never imagined that going from strangers to lovers only to be strangers all over again would hurt this badly. It was a pain he wouldn’t wish on anyone and yet here he was going through that exact ache, only now he didn’t know how to cope. Didn’t know how he was going to get over this heartbreak or if he even could.
