Decorating the Tree with Newt
Hey lovelies, back with another Christmas Headcanon! If you want to see a specific character feel free to drop the character in my askbox. Credit to cafekitsune for the banner and the divider!

🎄Putting up the Christmas Tree is a tradition you both look forward to. However, it does come with some complications. The Christmas tree is modified so it doesn't attract the Nifflers.
🎄Over the years you andNewt have exeperimented with various types of tree ornaments. They are difficult to obtain since Christmas decorations are usually bright, vibrant and shiny.
🎄Newt has to check the Niffler encloser daily to check if Niffler has stolen anything.
🎄Newt liks to collect Christmas tree decorations from his travels. He likes to have memories from all of the places he travels to.
🎄You and Newt's Christmas tree would be symmetrical. It's uniformed and even if the baubles don't match in colour or in style. Newt takes pride in decorating the Christmas tree.
🎄Newt insisting he goes up on the ladder to put the star ontop of the tree. He doesn't want to risk your safety.
🎄Christmas music playing in the background. It's one of Newt's favorite traditions.
🎄As the Niffler continues to steal the ornaments off of the Christmas tree, Newt gets a genius idea. Rather than keep running around after the Niffler. He gives them their own Christmas tree with the shinest baubles and ornaments Newt can find.

He just wanted to go home to his wife and children and a part of him was expecting to find Theseus and Leta waiting there too but it was futile. He didn’t even register his walk out of the ministry until he was hit by the crisp November air. This November Theseus would have turned fifty-nine had he lived. Or it has been four years since Theseus and Leta died and three since Grindelwald's defeat and the ministry is corrupt as ever

I absolutely love writing Newt Scamander as a dad. Absolute mama bear. Occasionally clueless and entirely ineffective? Sure, yeah, probably. Yet still always aggressively protective, in his own special way.

Hey! I love your Theo fics and I was wondering if I could request a Theo x Hufflepuff, granddaughter of Newt Scamander reader? I think it could be cute!
Maybe he notices her one day minding her business, and one of his friends calls her weird for the same reasons Newt was called weird in school? Whatever you like! thank you!
Weird
Theo Nott x Hufflepuff!reader
wc: 950
a/n: Sorry this took so long! Hope it’s ok.
Requests open
Theo was in the library with his friends. He wasn’t doing any work of course because he was distracted talking with his friends. They were talking about the quidditch match that took place yesterday.
Theo quickly glanced around the library and his eyes landed on you. You were sitting there reading minding your own business. Theo thought you were pretty. He admired your beauty. He thought you were so cute and loved how you weren’t bothered by others.
Draco caught sight of Theo looking at you. He decided to speak up. You know that’s Y/L/N, she’s weird. She talks to animals and what not. I’d stay away from her if I were you,” Draco warned.
“Maybe she’s just misunderstood,” Theo reasoned.
“Nah mate i’d listen to Draco, she’s a freak,” Blaise commented.
“You guys are mean,” Theo responded.
“Trust us, we would never steer you wrong,” Draco threw an arm around Theo.
“Ok ok I get it,” Theo put a stop to their conversation.
“We are just looking out for you,” Draco explained.
“Yeah yeah i know, let’s drop it please.” Theo grumbled.
Theo and his friends continued hanging out in the library for a little while longer. Theo however was busy thinking about you. He couldn’t get you off his mind. You intrigued him.
After Theo’s friends left he decided to go up and talk to you, despite what his friends told him. You were minding your own business, reading your book.
“Mind of I sit here?” Theo asked.
“Um sure go head,” you replied. You were shy and a little nervous but he seemed nice.
“You’re really pretty you know that,” Theo charmed.
You blushed at his words. You didn’t think anyone noticed you.
“What’s your name?” you asked.
“Theo,” he said with a smile.
“I’m Y/N.” You stuck your hand out for him to shake, which he did.
“I’ve seen you around school, I’ve always wanted to say hi,” Theo began.
“Why didn’t you?”
“I was always too nervous, and now I just thought hey, it’s worth a shot.”
“Well I’m glad you did,” you answered.
“Me too.”
“So what are you reading?” Theo asked.
“Oh this? I’m just reading about the care of magical creatures.”
“Interesting!”
“Really? Cause I find it fascinating.”
And maybe it was the way your eyes lit up or the smile on your face but Theo could have sworn he died and gone to heaven. You were simply stunning and so lively. He liked to look at you when there was a spark of joy in you.
“Forgive me if this is too forward, but would you like to have a picnic at the black lake with me tomorrow?” Theo requested.
“I’d love too!”
“Great!”
——————
Tomorrow came fast. Theo couldn’t wait he was so excited to see you again. He planned out the whole thing. He brought a ton of food and he even got you flowers.
When you arrived at the black lake Theo gave you the flowers.
“These are beautiful, thank you!”
The two of you sat down on the picnic blanket, and Theo started to serve the food. What Theo’s friends might think if they saw him here with you was in the back of his mind, but he tried to ignore it and enjoy this time with you.
“Anything for you.”
You smiled at him, feeling really good about going out with Theo. He seemed really nice and you were excited to get to know him.
After the both of you ate you decided to just enjoy each other’s presence and talk.
“So what do you do on days you don’t have class?” Theo asked.
“Well I like to read, sometimes I go on walks around the castle. Then there’s spending time with my cat. I also like to draw. What about you?” You answered.
“That’s interesting! I usually hang out with my friends. I’d love to see your drawings sometime!”
“Really? I’m not that good,” you shrugged.
“I bet you are,” Theo implied.
You smiled at him. “Maybe someday.”
“What do you read about?”
“Mostly animals.”
“You really like animals don’t you.”
“Well my grandfather is Newt Scamander.”
“Really? No way.” Theo was impressed.
“Yep.”
“That makes a lot of sense.”
“Hahaha.”
“Have you ever gone swimming in the black lake?” Theo asked.
“No I haven’t,” you replied.
“Do you want to swim with me?” Theo grinned.
“Are you crazy?!”
“Come on,” Theo said lifting his shirt over his head.
You laughed at him. You were a little shy but you quickly stripped down to your underwear, ripping it off like a bandaid.
Theo did his best to avert his eyes from your body. You were breathtaking and he just couldn’t help it.
“Last one in is a sweaty oaf.” Theo called out.
You squealed as you jumped into the lake. The water was cold and it felt refreshing. You swam over to Theo.
Theo watched as droplets of water fell from your lashes. Theo went and held your waist.
“Is this ok?” Theo asked.
You nodded.
One hand came and brushed your hair out of you face then rested on your cheek.
“Can I kiss you?”
“Yes.” You replied.
Theo placed his lips on yours in a heated kiss. His mouth explored yours. Your lips were moving in sync. When the need for air became to strong you pulled away.
“You are a really good kisser,” Theo complemented.
You giggled, “Thank you.”
Theo was quickly falling in love, and he didn’t even know it yet. The last thing on his mind was what his friends would think. He couldn’t care less about their opinion because he found someone he enjoyed spending time with.

In hindsight, you should've known.
"Have you maybe considered giving up on her?" Remus' question caught James off guard when he returned to the marauders at the Gryffindor table after another failed attempt and rejection by Lily.
"Not until she's given me a chance at least," James responded, eyes trained on Lily's retreating figure. "Besides, this chasing game is sort of our thing now."
The marauders nodded sceptically.
"Not particularly the dynamic I'd want to have with the person I fancy," Peter whispered, loud enough for everyone to hear. James shot him a look as if Peter had just committed the greatest betrayal of the century.
Sirius snorted out loud. "Dynamic my ass, yeah." He threw a piece of bread across the table in James' direction.
"He's stuck with Lily now because if he decides to chase some other poor girl and inevitably get rejected, it'll prove that James Potter just can't get some," he added, wearing a shit eating grin on his face.
James pulled a face at Sirius. "Oh please I can get girls. It's just that contrary to you, I actually show commitment to only one," he huffed.
Sirius shrugged. "You say that, but you've never even had a girlfriend. Been pining over Evans since first year. Besides, commitment or being stuck," he weighed his hands in the air. "Same same."
James rolled his eyes and got up. When he turned around, he crashed into someone who had been standing behind him, tripping her, and he sent her crashing into the Ravenclaw table behind him. The Ravenclaw sitting at that table ducked out of the way. She stuck her hands out to brace herself and loudly hissed when her hand ended up in someone's scalding soup.
"Godric, I am so sorry," James scrambled to offer her a napkin. She snatched it out of his hands and dried her hands. James saw that they were scorching red and more apologies stumbled out of his mouth.
"Let me help you get to madam Pomfrey," he offered, concern lacing his tone. He reached his hand out to her and she jerked away.
"Fuck off Potter, I'd rather take a bloody bath in boiling water than go anywhere with you." She spat, and left, hand pressed against her chest, covered by the napkin.
The commotion had everyone turn their heads at him and despite usually being a fan of being at the centre of attention, he embarrassedly sat down again.
"Guess really no girl wants to go anywhere with you, Prongs," Sirius snickered. James offered him a sour look.
"This was just because I literally burned her hand, Pads. Any other time, she would totally go out with me." James boasted, but guilt and concern for the girl who he didn't know, lingered in his mind.
"Right, you wanna bet?"
"The usual?"
"The usual."
They sealed the deal with a nod. Peter and Remus shared a look but they knew that was no use trying to tell them to stop it already. Remus thought back to the scowl on the girl's face and prayed that she would stay headstrong and reject James.
After all, Sirius and James were from wealthy families, so money has never actually played a role during these bets. It’s just the principle of it that counts and is the reason why they only ever bet one galleon. It meant someone would get hurt.
The scowl on your face disappeared with the cool relief of the running water from the girls bathroom on your hand, but the bitter feeling remained when your mind wandered to James Potter. You scoffed to yourself. Arrogant, self pretentious, blood boiling bully. Though never having been a victim of their pranks, you lost several friends to Beauxbatons because of the marauders’ cruelty.
You glanced at yourself in the mirror one last time and left for your Ancient Runes class where you walked to your designated seat next to Lily Evans. You two unsurprisingly got along. Though your personalities were nothing alike, you being rather reserved, you could both value each other’s calm presence and even ‘maturity’ to a certain degree.
She offered you a smile and you nodded at her in acknowledgement. “I’m embarrassed to ask this, but could I maybe share your book? I didn’t have time to pick it up after lunch.” Lily gave you a surprised look but quickly assured you that you could to which you offered her a small but grateful smile.
She opened her mouth to tell you something, when something else, or rather someone else, caught her attention. Before he even reached the table, she had already attempted to ward him off in a monotone voice. “Go away Potter, I’m not interested.”
“Not here for you, Lilypad,” he smugly said and stopped right next to you. Lily raised her eyebrows and looked at you with a concerned look. Without looking up from Lily’s book, you also repeated Lily’s words. “Fuck off Potter, I’m not interested either.”
“I haven’t even said anythi-“
“And I don’t want you to.”
“Okay, but here me out, I-“
“I. Don’t. Want. You. To,” you pronounced every word clearly.
“Come on, just listen-“
You turned around, an incredibly sour look on your face. James couldn’t help but admire you for a moment. You looked pretty, contorted face aside. Especially when you had smiled at Lily. It had caught him off guard.
“Can you spare me a second?” He tried again. For a second, he thought he saw a look of appreciation cross your face at his formulated words, but it was gone in a split second.
“No. Class is starting, get back to your seat Potter,” you dryly responded. You turned back to your book and James walked back to his friends.
James potter was determined though, you had to give him that. You abruptly turned on your heels, ready to walk in the opposite direction, even if it would mean a detour of about 8 minutes to your destination. You were really not into his crap today.
“Y/N!” James called out to you and chased you.
“I told you to call me by my last name. We're not friends, Potter. I don’t want to be. In fact, I don’t want anything to do with you. So, for Merlin’s sake, leave me alone, or I swear on his balls that I will hurt you.” You spat the last part out through gritted teeth and
James took a step back in surprise. He looked at you for a moment, carefully considering his next words. “L/N.” He settled on, voice quieter. When you didn’t immediately walk off, he took it as a sign to continue. “I was wondering if you would allow me to sit next to you during our free period between Transfiguration and Potions.”
You raised you eyebrows.
“My friends all took classes and there’s like a two hour gap and I like company, that’s all,” he hastily explained before you could go and reject him.
“What are you, six years old?” You sarcastically asked him. “Can’t spend what, two hours on your own?”
James’ eyes averted to the ground. “Just not enjoying being alone,” he mumbled, almost embarrassedly. You looked at him, great, now you were being an asshole yourself.
“You know the big old wardrobe in the abandoned classroom on the seventh floor?” you eventually asked. James’ eyes lit up and nodded.
“It’s bigger on the inside.” You said.
“A secret room?” He asked while trying to recall seeing an extra room on the map. You nodded. “Not even visible on your map because it’s not Hogwarts. A pocket dimension, Dumbledore said.”
James’ jaw fell slack. “You know about the map?” he whispered.
“You can join me there between classes next week if you want, but I can’t promise you that it’ll be any different to passing the time on your own.” You said, completely ignoring him. You stopped in front of the library. “A word about the wardrobe and I swear-“
“-on Merlin’s balls that you’ll hex me, yeah,” he waved you off with a triumphant smile.
“Witty, are you now.” You looked at him. A small smirk lingering on the corner of your lips. James heart skipped.
“Just one of the effects you have on me, darling,” he winked at you. “L/N,” he quickly corrected when your face fell into a scowl again.
“I’m not kidding though, this is my spot to get away from everything. I don’t feel like sharing it with people.” James felt flattered. So you would share it with him?
“I solemnly swear I won’t tell,” he assured you, a serious expression on his face. “You can trust me, L/N.” He cringed at his own words. Trust him? He was only talking to you to prove Sirius wrong.
“I’ll hold you to it, Potter,” you nodded and entered the library. The door closed and James slouched against the wall next to him. A giddy feeling fluttered in his stomach at the thought of hanging out with you.
“So what happened to rather bathing in boiling water than going anywhere with me,” James couldn’t help but arrogantly ask while trying to keep up with your ridiculously fast walking pace as you two were on your way to the wardrobe. “I’m not going anywhere with you, you’re going somewhere with me,” you denied, your eyes narrowed at him. James put his hands up in mock surrender. “Lead the way, L/N.”
“I am,” you deadpanned.
James sceptically looked at the oak wardrobe. He and his friends had rummaged through this room already. It included the wardrobe, but it had looked pretty normal.
“Doesn’t look very special,” he said while you were busy locking the door behind you. You made your way over to James and pushed him out of the way roughly. He gaped at you with an offended look on his face. “You know, being a bit more chivalrous wouldn’t hurt you,” he exclaimed.
You shrugged and opened the door. James stared in amazement as he realised that the inside was in fact bigger. He walked to the wall that the wardrobe was standing against and squeezed his hand between the wall and the wardrobe.
“Why are you so surprised?” you asked. “We literally learned about the Extension charm yesterday?”
“We did?”
Maybe hanging out with James Potter wasn’t as terrible as you had expected it to be and so, it became a routine. James had finally realised that his persistence to flirt with you or try to impress you wasn’t getting him anywhere and had opted to actually be considerate of you.
He respected you when you not so kindly told him to fuck off and was sitting next to you quietly while you studied between hours in the wardrobe. He had read the book that he’d seen you read in the courtyard- and was surprised to find himself interested in the story- so that he could talk to you about something when your demeanour told him that he could speak again. He stuck to calling you by your last name and learned to read your mood when he could joke around.
Most importantly, he’d learned to enjoy himself in a comfortable silence that didn’t require him to do or say anything and just let him be.
You two were laying on the couch again, feet propped up, both on opposite sides, but feet touching in the middle. James was admiring you. The way your eyebrows crunched up in a frown, eyes squinted, and lips mouthing the words you were reading.
“You’re careless with spelling, Potter.” You eventually looked up from correcting his assignment. “But that’s a brilliant essay.”
James beamed up at you, relief, pride and happiness all washing over him at once.
“Also, you have a nice handwriting,” you added after considering whether or not you should mention it.
James was now fully grinning, pushing himself to sit up from his relaxed position. “Two compliments?” he asked teasingly and you immediately huffed and looked away. “Don’t let it get to your head, Potter. It’s big as it is.”
“But you think I’m brilliant and that my handwriting is nice.” He repeated happily.
“Your essay was brilliant,” you attempted to correct him, but he seemed to be lost in happy thoughts. You looked at him. He had his arms up behand his neck because he had laid down again. He was grinning from ear to ear and his eyes squinted in delight and satisfaction. He looked so... harmless.
“You know,” you began and James looked up at you, propping himself up a little in curiosity at the fact that you were starting the conversation for the first time.
“I used to think you were the biggest asshole ever. Astoundingly stupid and good for nothing but hurting people.” You were looking up at the ceiling now and missed the way James eyes flashed with mixed feelings.
“I had a few friends, you know. They were great, but everyone called them boring and a stick in the mud.” You turned your head towards James. “You and the rest of the marauders used to tell us to “lighten up already,” and pranked us separately, one by one until all five moved schools.”
James looked down, feeling horrible and guilty. It was true that in his early years at Hogwarts, he and his friends had been going too far with pranks. That kind of stopped after that prank.
“So I’ve held a grudge against you, like any good friend would do,” you smiled to yourself at the thought of your friends. “I think maybe I no longer have to.” James heart melted at your confession. Over the course of weeks, he’d become desperate for your approval and friendship.
“You’ve changed since then,” you concluded out loud. “Not cruel anymore.” You hesitated for a moment.
“James?” You then asked and James looked up at you with wide eyes. He knew that this was the first time that you’d addressed him by his name instead of ‘Potter’.
“Yeah?”
“I really value our friendship,” you whispered. “It’s worth a lot to me.”
James heart both warmed and tightened. “It’s worth a lot to me too,” he whispered back.
“Where were you,” Remus asked when he returned to the Gryffindor common room. “We looked on the map, but we couldn’t find you.”
“And we couldn’t find Y/N either.” James fought the urge to correct them and say that they shouldn’t use your first name like that. That he had worked for your friendship to stop calling you by your last name.
“Do I owe you a galleon now?” Sirius popped up from behind him. “What? No,” James said, thinking of another subject to talk about, wanting to ignore the existence of the bet in the first place.
“I was hanging out with Y/N,” he admitted. “But because we're friends now.”
“Yeah, but where were you hanging out?” Peter asked. “Because we weren’t allowed to leave Hogwarts today.”
“Did you find another secret passage?” Sirius gasped and James immediately shook his head to deny it. “Oh come on, we’re your friends, you have to tell us!”
Remus watched James shift uncomfortably and tried to intervene. “Let him be, Padfoot.” Sirius wasn’t having it though, and when James said that he promised not to tell, he responded with, “What, you value your fake friendship with that stick-up-her-ass girl more than us?”
“It’s not a fake friendship,” he weakly fought back. “Don’t call her that.”
Sirius sighed. “I’m sorry Prongs. I didn’t mean to call her that, hell I don’t even know the girl, she’s probably alright. But you’re keeping secrets, it’s not fair.”
You stared in disbelief at the marauder who wasn’t James, having a hook-up in your wardrobe. When he noticed you in the entrance, Sirius merely held his hand up at you in a greeting. “Thanks for letting me borrow this, this is the best spot for not getting caught.”
You backed away and slammed the door shut. James.
“Potter!” you yelled at him when you saw him leave the Gryffindor chambers. Your face was contorted in anger and you were seething.
He looked up at you, happy feeling in his chest and he was itching to show you the paper behind his back.
You stabbed your finger in his chest, effectively wiping the happy grin on his face off. “You promised,” you hissed. James immediately knew what you were talking about. “I’m sorry, I had to tell him,” he tried to justify his actions and you scoffed. “Fuck you,” you spat and walked off.
James stood there, frozen and stared at the empty spot in front of him. His arms hung by his side and he looked down at his essay which wore a big ‘O’ mark and right next to it in Professor McGonagall’s handwriting, ‘Keep this brilliant work up, Mr. Potter.’
James was watching you, sulking. He had made such progress and now it felt as if all those baby steps were for nothing, instead taking eight long strides back. You had closed yourself off again and James was too intimidated by your glares every time he walked in your direction, so he would change directions last minute every time you burned a hole through his head with your eyes.
‘This is so stupid’ he thought to himself when his body automatically steered him away from you again. He mustered up all of his courage and headed straight for you. He would rather face your wrath head on than go back to being strangers. Especially when tomorrow was free period again.
“Is it okay if I talk to you for a moment?” he asked, nervous.
You scanned him up and down. Everything about him looked remorseful, from his posture to dull eyes to his tone when he asked you if he could have a word. You waved at him to take a seat next to you, and he gratefully took the opportunity.
“I’m sorry. I swore I wouldn’t tell and I did and I shouldn’t have. I would go back in time and stop past me from telling Sirius, but I can’t, but I also don’t want to lose you because I meant what I said. This friendship is worth so much to me.” James took a deep breath. “So please let me make amends?” he finished.
“Okay.”
James blinked. “Okay?” he dumbly repeated.
“That’s what I said.”
“Wait, so that’s it? No grovelling? No conditions?”
“Would you like me to add conditions?”
“I mean..” James stuttered. “Sure?”
“Fine. Consider this your second chance , even though it technically is your third after your horrid behaviour towards my friends. It’s also your last.” You said that last part sharply. “Do you accept those terms?”
James nodded in relief and agreed. It was only when he laid in bed at night that he realised that he should’ve probably gotten clean on the matter of the bet right when he had the chance. He was on his last chance after all. But it would be alright. He would simply call off the bet and then it would be as if nothing ever happened. No one had to know, no one had to get hurt.
He waited after Transfiguration and grinned at you when you made your way to him. He had really looked forward to spending time with you again at your spot. Even if the marauders knew its location now, too.
“Lead the way, Y/N.”
“I am,” you retorted with a hint of amusement in your voice. James grinned and followed you, only noticing after a while that you were walking around on the third floor instead of the seventh. “Did you find a new spot?” he curiously asked.
“Yes. And no.” James huffed at your vagueness, imploring you to explain. “Let’s just say that Dumbledore got himself off my blacklist.” You turned the corner and moved a portrait to the side. James knew of the passageway. It was moist in there and cold so it hadn’t interested him and his friends very much. But behind the door you just opened, stood your wardrobe.
He looked at it, amazed. “You got Dumbledore to move a wardrobe for you?” he asked incredulously. You slyly smiled but didn’t say anything except for “I did the cleaning myself.”
“So what’s going on with you and James,” Lily curiously asked you. You shrugged and brought your water bottle to your lips. “Kept bothering me into a friendship, I guess.”
Lily laughed. “Well, whatever keeps him away from me,” she joked and you let out an audible laugh. She leaned in towards you. “But if he’s no longer fighting for my attention, but yours, I think it might mean that he fancies you.”
You choked on your water. “Most certainly not!” You strictly assured her and composed yourself. Lily laughed. “No need to get so defensive over his feelings. You make it seem as if I suggested that you fancied him,” she said, chuckling. You turned your head away and she gasped. “Do you fancy him?”
“What’s with all this gossiping and boys talk,” you grumbled, unpleased. “But for the record, I don’t think so.” You stuck your nose up.
“You don’t think so?” Lily repeated. “What do you mean?”
“I gravely appreciate him and I feel very comforted in his presence. We’re friends. It doesn’t mean I fancy him.” You answered. “Besides, I’ve never fancied anyone. Not sure I know what it’s like.”
“Okay, how would you feel if he starts dating someone, right now?”
You pondered over the question for a bit. “I guess he can do whatever he wants, but don’t expect me to share our spot with some random girl,” you said, the last part coming out more bitter than you expected. Huh. ‘Did you fancy James Potter?’ you wondered.
“I fancy her,” James told his friends while they were out in Hogsmeade.
“L/N?” Peter asked. James nodded in affirmation. “Well damn Prongs,” Sirius started. “What happened?”
“Y/N and I are good, I think. We fit and it feels amazing. It seems surprising, but we can talk for hours or sit in silence together without it being weird at all. Everything is comfortable with her, in like the good way,” James struggled to express all his feelings about you.
Sirius whistled. “Almost envious of you, Prongs. What about Evans though?”
James shrugged. “Not the kind of dynamic I want.”
“So are you going to tell her?” Remus asked. James puffed his chest. “Of course. I’m not shy about my feelings. I publicly chased after Lily for years,” he reasoned. But despite his big words, he felt like a nervous wreck. Because what if you rejected him?
James found you in the library. “Is now a good time?” he asked. You sat up straight. Last night, you had done a lot of thinking and came to the conclusion that yes, you fancied James Potter. “Yes, actually. I wanted to talk to you,” you replied. You got up and and started to gather your belongings. James grabbed your books for you and you left the library.
“I fancy you.”
James blinked. Were his ears deceiving him? Were you joking? Did you have a bet of your own going on with someone?
“I’m sorry?” he managed to get out, his voice an octave higher than usual.
“I fancy you,” you stated again. Matter of factly. “I came to the realisation yesterday and they do say honesty is the best policy.” James laughed softly at your sad attempt to lessen the awkward atmosphere.
“I actually wanted to talk to you to say the same thing,” he breathed out in a relieved manner. You stared at him in surprise. Okay. Definitely not what you expected.
“So you fancy me.” You repeated to make sure.
“And you fancy me.” James nodded.
“Do you want to go out with me?” you asked.
James’ heart leaped. He had spent so much time asking that question, he realised that how amazing it felt to hear the question directed at him. He grinned. “Glad you asked, darling. Yes, I’ll go out with you.” He reached out to you carefully wrapped an arm around you. You fully leaned into him in a hug and breathed him in.
“Think our relationship just went up in value.” You mumbled, your words slightly muffled by your face, hidden in his sweater.
You felt him laugh. “Well, we upgraded from friends to couple. How much are we worth now?”
You pretended to think about it. “We’re worth all the money in Gringotts bank.”
“That’s a lot of money,” he hummed.
You had taken James out on a date in the middle of the Gryffindor Quidditch stands at night, after curfew. James was the first to lean in and kiss you and when he did, he practically melted into you, your arms slung over his broad shoulders. He’d muttered something about how lucky he was and you’d told him that he better know it, before admitting that you felt the same way.
After you had left him several hickeys, scattered across his neck, he had insisted on returning the favour. He was only on his second when you two were interrupted by Filch, who had spotted you two. You two ran off to the third floor and decided to hide out in your wardrobe until he was gone all while continuing making out. You and James fell asleep in that position. You on your back on the couch, James draped over you like a weighted blanket with his face nuzzled in your throat, and your legs entangled.
Though very surprised at first, your fellow Hogwarts students quickly got used to the idea of you and James in a relationship. It wasn’t long before you were walking down the corridors together, James hand on your lower back and inching lower. You shot him a warning glare and he bit his check when he splayed his hand over your ass with a cheeky smile. You elbowed him in the ribs, earning a huff and let your hand rest on his ass in turn.
Everything was perfect, which is of course why everything had to become a disaster very quickly. James wasn’t even sure how such a perfect night had turned so horrible. One moment, you were partying, everything had been great, and he had been envisioning you and him for the rest of your lives, and the next, he was pleading with you through a locked door.
“Y/N, we can call you Y/N right?” Sirius had drunkenly slurred. You had rolled your eyes at his antics, but nodded. Though you would never admit it out loud, you appreciated the elder Black.
“I like you. We all like you and we’re happy that it’s you and not Evans anymore,” he mumbled on and he stumbled over his own feet, barely reacting in time to not drop to the floor.
You internally smiled at his words.
“I’m sorry that I was an asshole to you. You’re really great. If I had known, I wouldn’t have targeted your friend group for pranks or risked your feelings by making you part of a stupid bet.”
It was as if the world stopped spinning for a moment, music only barely in the background. “A bet?” you spoke in a dangerously low voice.
Sirius seemed to catch on to your change in demeanour and sobered up at an incredible rate. “Shit, no-“
But you had already turned around to find James, Sirius stumbling behind you to try and stop you.
“How much?” you spat out angrily when you found him. The music was luckily loud enough to hide your argument from other students.
James looked at you, confused. “How much?”
“How much are we worth?”
James frowned at you question. “All the money in Gringotts bank,” he calmly answered you and moved to embrace you, thinking you were just very drunk.
You pushed him away and he stumbled a few steps back.
“No,” you hoarsely responded. “That’s how much I think we’re worth. How much did you bet on me.”
James’ blood ran cold. “I-“ His words opened and closed like a fish. “Because the amount better have been fucking worth it, James,” you cut him off.
“Darling-“
You felt numb. “How little?”
“A galleon.”
You nodded and stepped back. “I was wrong,” you shakily breathed out. “You, James Potter, are still cruel.”
James chased you. “Wait, please,” he begged. You ran out of the room, towards the third floor and into the wardrobe hidden behind the door behind the portrait.
James followed you and pulled on the knob to open the wardrobe that you had locked. He sunk down against the doors and took a deep breath.
He had to explain. He had to let you know that you meant everything to him. And that everything was real. Honesty is the best policy after all, right?
“I’m sorry. Darling, I am so sorry. It’s so stupid how it happened. They were saying that I couldn’t get anyone to go out with me and then I accidentally hurt you with the soup incident, so Sirius bet with me that I couldn’t get anyone you to go out with me. I was never planning on hurting you, I swear,“ James rambled.
“I wanted to apologize and make up for your hand anyway. Not that it was out of pity or anything,” he immediately added.
“I did think you were beautiful. I did want to talk to you. And when you rejected me at first, yes, I did want to prove Sirius wrong. But then you were everything. I wanted so desperately to be friends with you because you were right. The bet was stupid, but it was never about money. It was never even about you per se, but I’m so fucking happy that it ended up being you, because I’m in love with you. Please believe me.”
You sucked in a breath at his words. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
James jumped at your voice from the other side of the door. “I wanted to, I really did. But I had already screwed up once and you weren’t going to give me anymore chances, so I thought that if I just never told you and called of the bet, pretending it never happened, I could keep you.” He leaned back against the door, eyes tightly shut. “And if we break up, then I don’t regret it, because the past months with you were perfect,” he whispered.
The door abruptly opened from inside out and he stumbled back, having leaned against it. He looked up at you, hovering above him. He knew you. He knew how to read you and right now, you needed space. “I’ll wait for you,” he said, hesitantly and left you alone.
You needed your friends right now.
When James didn’t see you the next day, he accepted that you didn’t want to see him. But by now, almost an entire week had passed and James and his friends were itching to apologize to you at least once more. He decided to ask Lily where you were and was absolutely not prepared for her answer.
“She went to Beauxbatons.” Lily pursed her lips at the boy in front of her in disdain. She knew what had happened but couldn’t help but pity him a little bit when he looked at her like that. Devastated.
James’ world stopped and for a moment he thought he couldn’t breathe. Did you leave? Had he managed to push you away to a whole different school? He thanked Lily for her answer and sat down at his own desk in a daze. His body moved on autopilot for the next few days. He was falling into a routine that he didn’t like.
During free periods, he hid out in the wardrobe, face up towards the ceiling as he imagined you were lying in his arms right then.
You had been gone for a week and a half and had returned to Hogwarts. Feeling lighter in your heart and decisive steps carrying you towards the Gryffindor Quidditch stands, right on time for the match.
You saw James and your heart jumped. He looked good. He had definitely looked better before, but all in all, he looked good. You bit your lip, suddenly insecure and doubting his promise to wait for you. Another twenty points for Gryffindor and admired James from the distance.
When you had arrived at Beauxbatons, you had wallowed in self pity for a day or two before your friends had pulled you out of it and reasoned with you. Surprisingly on James’ behalf.
You knew they were right. You were madly in love with James and he was undoubtedly madly in love with you too. Though it had all started off as a bet, how could you stay upset when it only brought you and James together.
James eyes scanned through the crowd, automatically trailing to the spot where you two had been sitting and kissed during your first date. He had to do a double take when he saw you in the crowds and almost fell off his broomstick when he rubbed his eyes with both hands to make sure he wasn’t dreaming.
He started making his way towards you when his eyes locked onto the golden snitch. His eyes flickered between you and the snitch, but you had seen it too, so you flashed him a grin. His shoulders relaxed, and he started the chase.
“Darling?” James appeared in the doorway to the boy’s changing rooms.
“James,” you nodded. You were smiling at him, and your warm, inviting tone had him move forward until you were within reach.
“I’ve missed you so much, I thought I lost you.”
“Hm, you’re just lucky that I really really love you too.” You sassed back. James was in front of you in two big steps. “Yeah?” he asked a twinkle in his eye. “Just like that? No grovelling? No conditions?”
You kissed him. “Would you like me to include grovelling?” you laughed at him.
“Yeah actually. You see, I’ve already prepared at least eight different ways to make up to you.”
He pressed his lips to yours again.
“Get a room!” Sirius yelled and you shot him a sour look. He held up his hands in surrender, a shit eating grin still present on his face.
“Fine, but don’t expect your captain back for the celebratory party. He’s mine tonight,” you shot back.
“And every other night, I hope?” James coyly smiled at you. You shook your head in amusement and dragged him away, hand slipping to rest on his ass, his own hand finding its way to yours.
“Lead the way, Darling.”

A little one shot fun, wasn’t sure what to call this little one shot, I hope it suits the story well enough anyway I hope you like it. :D!!
The Mediator!
Since returning from Bhutan, Newt had noticed tension between the two creatures he felt most fondest of, the most helpful to him from all the other creatures in his managerie. The two perhaps that he’d had the longest, who would not part from him; although one of them in particular often tried to escape, when distracted by something he wanted, though he would always return to Newt’s side once he had his prize possession. It’s not that Pickett and Teddy were specifically close, in fact they barely interacted with one another, with Pickett only making a few complaints when Teddy’s little excursions and pursuits of treasure got them into situations Pickett didn’t like. But this time Newt noticed Pickett seemed more annoyed and the hostility in this glares were more aggressive than usual. The tension in his mood seemed intensified.
Teddy for all his oblivious ignorance didn’t notice Pickett’s glares, or angry chirps. He took no notice of the mood in the room and continued as he had always done. However as of late Newt had noticed Pickett trying to take shiny objects from Teddy’s hands to annoy him, while the poor unsuspecting creature was holding and admiring one of his treasures. Which caused Teddy to chase Pickett and take back what he owned, but not without giving him a little nip before reclaiming his treasures. Pickett had none stop chirped in angry tones to Newt whenever he had the chance to chirp Newt’s ears off. Complaining persistently whenever Teddy was nearby.
“Alright” Newt snapped one day, mid angry chirps from Pickett, who was peeking out of his pocket as Newt was cleaning Teddy’s enclosure after feeding the babies. “What’s going on Pickett, you’ve been rather cross lately. I’m presuming something happened during Bhutan did it?”
Pickett shook his head in exasperation, holding his hands on his hips scowling up at Newt with an angry frown.
“Well I’m sorry Pickett, but you’re going to have to give me more than that and explain exactly what it is that’s bothering you. If not Bhutan then when?”
Pickett leapt out of Newt’s pocket and onto Teddy’s nest, the Niffler watching in horror. Newt watched with fascination as the tiny bowtruckle went about his business, in search of something among all the shiny trinkets scattered about the nest. Newt raised his eyebrows in wonder, he hadn’t ever known Pickett to own anything shiny for Teddy to take, and yet here Pickett was rummaging through the Niffler’s belongings. Once Teddy’s shock had subsided, the niffler went for Pickett with gusto, ready to protect his possessions. Newt grabbed Teddy with both hands and held the squirming creature to his chest as Pickett continued to search furiously.
“Come on Teddy, settle down now, it’s alright. Pickett what is it you’re looking for?” Newt stroked Teddy’s back and held him tight to his chest, coaxing the vexed Niffler with soft spoken words of affection to calm him. It wasn’t long before the bowtruckle finally stood at the edge of the nest holding up the red tie Dumbledore had given Theseus, how it had gotten there was anyone’s guess. Although Newt had a suspicious feeling Teddy had managed to sneak it away once they’d left Berlin.
“You’re angry because Teddy stole the tie from Theseus? Or that you took it from Theseus and Teddy took it from you?” Newt frowned. He hadn’t thought Pickett would take it, or be sentimental about something that meant nothing to him as far as Newt knew. But the bowtruckle shook his head, and slapped his face so hard, Newt thought he’d bruise later. He had heard the snap of his hand landing on his face. But Pickett seemed not to have felt it, and gave Newt a look of disgust.
“Alright I’m guessing if not that, then perhaps something happened in Berlin?” Pickett nodded his head so hard Newt thought the leaves atop his head would fall off. Pickett pointed to the tie, as Teddy tried to reach out and grab it from him. Newt held on tight, to keep him from reaching it and snatching it from the bowtruckle’s clutches. Pickett made a motion of locking or perhaps unlocking something with key.
“Something happened when Theseus was imprisoned? When you both had to come rescue me?” Newt asked with a frown. Pickett gave another enthusiastic nod, leaves shaking wildly. Pickett began to act out more actions, he began to mimic falling and then pointing to some coins and acting out falling, and then he began pointing to Teddy who now seemed to be squirming less, but grunting in displeasure at being held prisoner in Newt’s hand, while Pickett touches his things.
“I see, so you’re annoyed at Teddy because when you were escaping the cages, you fell and some coins fell at the same time, but Teddy went for the coins instead of rescuing you?” Newt guessed. Pickett gave a nod of the head and let his arms drop to the sides, bowing his head in misery.
“Oh Pickett” Newt sighed putting the Niffler down, and scooping the bowtruckle up. Pickett dropped the tie, which Teddy snatched up and held for dear life. “I’m sorry you had to deal with that, but you know Teddy, he doesn’t mean anything by it” Newt coaxed. Pickett began to chirp furiously waving his hands in the air.
“You want me to punish him?” Newt sighed, looking to Teddy who had now buried himself in his treasures rolling around in it. Newt sighed once more and looked back at Pickett who gave a nod of agreement. “Alright I’ll see what I can do.” Newt put Pickett into his top breast pocket and addressed the Niffler oblivious of what was to happen next. Newt watched Teddy for a while, as he rolled around playing with his trinkets. It felt cruel to stop his play, but he knew Pickett was upset. Besides Teddy always bounced back, after his grumps when being made to do something he didn’t like. But he didn’t want a sulking Pickett to deal with, and Pickett could sulk for a long time when he felt like it. He was already in bad spirits, which was starting to get to Newt now. He needed to do something to make Pickett happy again.
Newt grab hold of Teddy who began to squirm and resist being picked up once more. Tipping the furry creature upside down, he began to tickle his belly over his nest, causing every piece of gold and jewels in Teddy’s pockets to fall out into the nest. Once Newt was sure his pockets were empty he took Teddy to his shed, and once inside stood at his table. Newt brandished his wand and made a cage appear onto the table top. Opening the cage door, he put Teddy inside, locking the door after him.
“I’m sorry Teddy but you went too far this time. Instead of helping your friend when they were in danger, you chose to pilfer gold instead of saving him. You’ll have to stay in her for a bit with nothing to distract you. No gold, nothing shiny. You have upset Pickett quite severely.” Newt turned to Pickett who was watching from his pocket, “happy?” He asked the little bowtruckle. Pickett gave a little chirp and smiled up at Newt. “Right that’s that then.” And Newt went about his work in peace.
From time to time, Newt would look to where Teddy was slumped in the cage. Newt had never seen Teddy this way before, he seemed to have given up even trying to escape. In any case, he would have fallen asleep any other day he’d been locked away for bad behaviour. But today seemed different. He sat hunched against the bars, his back turned to Newt. There were none of his usual grunts of frustration or scuffling around. But then usually he had always somehow managed to sneak in one of his treasures to play with. But today Newt hadn’t allowed that on account of trying to please Pickett. Newt put down the brush he’d been sweeping the floors with and came to check up on Teddy. Realising he’d not had the chance to feed him, since he’d been interrupted, Newt went back for some feed and returned to the cage. But Teddy would not touch the food, nor look at Newt at all. In fact he did not react to having Newt come to the cage.
It wasn’t like Teddy to care that he was being punished, or show any kind of remorse. He never seemed upset or miserable, he never seemed to learn from his mischief or when Newt told him off. Not even after he’d gotten hurt after stealing Grindelwald’s blood pact phial. Although Newt supposed this was different, being separated from what he loved the most.
“I’m sorry Teddy” Newt whispered into the cage, and not being able to bear watching him suffer any longer, Newt felt he’d been punished enough, and opening the cage Newt reached in and tried to lift the creature out. But Teddy scuffled away from Newt and wouldn’t allow him to pick him up.
“It’s alright Teddy, i’m really sorry, I truly am, you can come out now. I just want to take you back into your nest.” Newt tried catching him with no luck, each time he managed to get hold of him, Teddy gave him a little nip and wiggled out of Newt hands. Newt dug into his pocket. “Teddy please, I truly am sorry, look see?” He said offering the creature a galleon coin from his pocket. “A peace offering.” He held out the coin to Teddy, who sniffed it and looked to Newt to see if it was some trick of sorts.
“It’s ok, take it.” Newt offered, Teddy snatched it up before Newt could change his mind. Newt gently carried Teddy out to Pickett’s dismay.
“Pickett please, he’s been through enough already, he’s had his punishment now and he’s sorry for it.” Newt scolded Pickett who ducked back into his breast pocket to sulk. Turning to the Niffler, Newt held him up and spoke to the little critter.
“I know you didn’t mean it, and I know you can’t help it. But I do wish you’ll learn and stop pilfering.” Newt sighed, “but I know you’ll just keep doing it and I’m wasting my breath. But I think you’ve been punished enough so you can go back to your nest of gold alright? Happy?” Newt took the Niffler back to his nest and gently let him down. Once the Niffler was settled, Newt went back to his shed and climbed out of his case, and into the office in the basement of his flat, and addressed a very upset Pickett. Newt took the bowtruckle out of his pocket and sat down with Pickett on his knuckle.
“Pick no sulking please. You know Teddy can’t help it, he’s incorrigible, you know that. And I don’t think he meant you any harm. He doesn’t pay much attention to others and his surroundings, but he’s not a bad boy. He’s still my friend, your friend. We have to try and be kind and understanding of each other ok?” Newt sighed, Pickett crossed his arms with a frown and sat down hard on Newts knuckle, looking away from him with a scowl.
“Alright listen, I’ve got news you might like. Pickett you know you’re one of my best friends, and I care about you a lot. You’re one of the most important of my creatures, the most responsible and sensible one. And in a few months or so, I’m going to need your help in doing a very important job. Jacob and Queenie plan to marry soon, if we can get the laws overturned. And Jacob has asked me to look after the ring, now this is a very important job, but I’m going to ask you to help me do that. None of the creatures will be going to the wedding, but if you can help me with this you won’t be left at home and you can come with me. I need you to protect and keep the ring safe. Especially from Teddy do you understand? You’ll get to go to the wedding and Teddy isn’t invited. He doesn’t get to go, none of the others do. Are you willing to help me take on this important responsibility?” Pickett stood tall and straight in response and gave a determined nod of agreement.
“Good” Newt smiled, “this is our little secret, don’t tell the others.” Newt shushed with his finger to his lips. Pickett winked and made a zipping motion over his tiny little mouth and gave Newt a smile. Newt said goodnight to Pickett and left him in his little tree on his desk, and got ready for supper and bed. That night Newt relished the peace and quiet of the night, and smiled knowing peace had been restored between his two most favourite creatures in his care. Newt fell into a restful, relaxing sleep.
And all was well.

A/N: This fic was a little self indulgent really. I haven’t edited it or anything, so apologies if there are mistakes and typos in there. I don’t have the time at the moment to edit it. It’s late and I’m tired, I wanted to just put it out there while I was in the mood, fresh off the press. I hate editing sometimes and procrastinate, and that could mean it won’t get posted till ages, or will sit in the drafts till I forget. Lol! Better I just dump it on you now. I have so many of these prompts sitting in my drafts, I finally decided to do one of them. I just felt in the writing mood and couldn’t stop thinking of this one in particular. The ideas were falling into place and so I just decided to do it. I will do some more of these prompts. Check out the profile that set the prompt, honestly they post so many good ones out there, and if you’re a Fantastic Beasts fan like me, there are so many that would go really well with Fantastic Beasts shorts. Anyway I hope you enjoyed my little fic. Thanks for reading, and as always comments, likes, and reblogs are appreciated and welcome.
I may or may not do fan art for this piece, we’ll see.

hi i have a req for your vday celebration for this line 'have you no compassion for my poor nerves? ’ for theseus scamander!! going on a trip with newt looking for some new mythical creature to draw and you somehow get injured and theseus gets worried so like angst + fluff pls
IN SEARCH OF A GRECIAN BEAST
PAIRING: Theseus Scamander x Reader WORD COUNT: 1.1k SUMMARY: As you, Theseus, and Newt find yourselves on a secluded Grecian beach along the Aegean Sea, an endeavor unfolds to seek out a Hippocampus. However, plans don't turn out as expected. A/N: An angsty yet light-hearted fic in a way. Hope you guys love this lil Theseus one-shot~ WARNINGS: near drowning. angst. Newt literally has no compassion when he’s excited about his beasts lol. PROMPT: “Have you no compassion for my poor nerves?” [from this prompt list] MASTERLIST
“Pray, Theseus, allow yourself a respite! Quit moaning and come with us,” you whine with an exaggerated, sarcastic tone as you trudge down the rocky slope that leads to a stretch of golden sand. Newt is way ahead, feet already on the sand as he scuttles across the rugged coastline that looks upon the Aegean Sea.
Theseus huffs at your words, watching the way your linen top billows in the sea breeze, gleaming under the scorching summer sun. He decides he has no other choice than to follow begrudgingly. He stumbles on his feet, shells crunching at contact, and sees you looking back at him, eyes bright. The curve of your smile goes unnoticeable.
“I thought we were meant to be on holiday,” he calls out to you and his brother.
You merely laugh, and Newt responds without turning back, “Nobody mentioned a holiday, Theseus.”
Theseus scoffs, “Well, I presumed it was, considering you invited me to Greece. Of all places!”
Without warning, you abruptly halt, swiftly turning to face him.
“We find ourselves on this beautiful, secluded Grecian beach, and you're complaining?” You gesture to your surroundings in big movements, arms moving in sweeping motions.
You’re right, he’s being dramatic. Perhaps he finds himself a little sceptical towards your shenanigans with Newt. How you were always closer to his brother than him, even though he never dared admit it to himself that he wished it was the other way around.
Theseus is silent when you fix him with a stern gaze, nearing him. “All I’m saying is, you should loosen up a little.”
There it is. That glint in your stare. It’s hopeful.
Theseus realised long ago that he would do anything for you and be anything you wanted him to be.
“I am loose. I can be loose.”
Your laugh comes off more like a scoff. You don’t believe him one bit. “Right.”
Then, your fist connects with his arm. It’s playful, just like old times. Theseus winces, his palm instinctively rubbing his bicep as he shoots you a maddened look. Despite the irritation etched on his face, the subtle curve on his lips betrays it.
You laugh again. It’s light and sends his heart thrumming faster than ever.
“Come on –”
"Look!" newt exclaims, his voice ringing out excitedly. “Over there.” He points toward the shore with the widest grin Theseus has ever seen.
You immediately grip Theseus’ wrist, pulling him along as you dash towards Newt.
“Hippocamps,” you breathe out, merely a whisper, eyes trained on the clear waters beyond.
Theseus turns to you and clocks on your wide-eyed gaze. Your mouth hangs slightly agape in utter awe as you take in the scene unravelling before you. Glints of deep blue swirl under the crystal waters, their scales glistening like scattered glitter under the Grecian sun.
Then, you release your hold on his hand.
“I’m going in.”
The brothers snap their heads to you, “What?”
You turn to Theseus, “I know these creatures better than anyone. You know that.” Then, your gaze shifts to Newt, “Even more than you, Newt.”
A beat. He sees that you’re now looking at him expectantly as if you need his assurance. That he trusts you. He really doesn’t know why you need it.
“Just… be careful.”
You purse your lips and nod. “I will.”
The waves lap rhythmically as you approach the waters cautiously, gentling wading through and towards the Hippocampi. The water rises to your waist. You catch a hint of a tail under the sunlight, iridescent and reflecting the ocean's blue and green hues.
You take a deep breath – the key is to be calm. Extremely calm. You extend your palm, luminous kelp in your grasp, hoping to lure the creature.
Then, its head emerges from the waters, a horse for a head. The creature curiously eyes the kelp in your hand as you watch in controlled excitement as the others drift closer. You cannot help but smile.
Yet, something beneath you rumbles. It’s so slight that you almost miss it. But it sends a rippling uneasiness to your surroundings that it alarms the creatures. The air shifts, and before you know it, the Hippocampi sense an unseen threat and quickly disappear into the ocean.
Your smile drops.
You see it, a sleek form of green drifting in the depths beneath you. It glides through the water with stealth.
Ashore, Theseus senses your concern. “Something’s wrong.”
Then, he sees you turn to them with panicked eyes.
Abruptly, the water erupts with a powerful surge, and a beast rises from the depths and leaps into the air. Its mane of waterweed cascades with its movement.
It’s a Kelpie.
Newt and Theseus watch in stunned silence.
As the Kelpie vanishes beneath the waves, you’re gone.
Theseus’ heart drops.
Instinctively, Theseus calls your name, charging towards the place you stood moments before. In his sprint, he throws a quick, urgent glance over his shoulder at Newt, who scrambles closely behind, his expression etched with mirrored exasperation.
“Why in Godric’s name is a Kelpie doing here?!”
“That’s a good question –”
Theseus isn’t listening anymore. He can’t think right now, his heart pounding fiercely. Each step intensifies the knot in his stomach.
He finds himself slicing through the waves and propelled beneath the surface. His vision goes blur momentarily; elusive silhouettes move around him like drifting shadows. But as his eyes begin to take focus, he sees Newt, a feet away, seemingly going after the Kelpie.
Theseus whirls around, eyes scanning his surroundings.
He sees you, conscious. You’re looking at him with wide eyes, struggling to stay afloat.
Theseus closes in, and he reaches out, arms enveloping you. With a forceful pull, you are brought to the surface, head heavy against his chest. Your sharp gasp pierces the air, it resonates loudly, but it settles a sense of relief in Theseus.
As you’re pulled to shore, you’re induced into a coughing fit, water forcefully expelling from your lips. Theseus hovers above you, his hand on the back of your head, lifting it from the ground in an attempt to ease your choking. His other palm rests against your cheek firmly.
He says your name, his voice laced with reassurance, yet his gaze lingers with a perpetual panic as he hovers above you, the sunlight casting a halo through his tousled hair. Theseus looks truly distressed.
“Have you no compassion for my poor nerves?!” he exclaims, exasperated in all his dramatic and uptight glory.
“Just… trying to keep you on your… toes, that’s all,” you manage to croak out.
Theseus's laugh passes off as an exhale and grins, shaking his head. Quickly, he presses a kiss to your forehead.
You instantly feel your cheeks start to burn.
“Don’t ever do that again.”
You just smile. “No promises.”
Then, laughter echoes in the distance. Both of you turn to find Newt emerging from the shore, eyes bright.
"That was incredible!"

What, you think I forgot about this Hufflepuff Damian Hogwarts AU ?
Wait, maybe you forgot about it!
Either way, the fully revised first chapter is coming soon. Maybe this week!
It’ll be multi-chapters because I just can’t for the life of me write one-shots that can make me happy. I thought I’d create a small fic with bite-sized chapters but nope nope nope. It’ll be quite a long tale I’m afraid.
What the fic is going to have (but not set in stone yet except the first point):
- Hufflepuff Damian, Gryffindor Jon
- Quidditch Prodigy Jon Kent
- Regular convos in the (obviously haunted) bathroom because privacy please
- Losing House points about as much as they earn them
- Damian kinda idolizing Newt Scamander
- Damian is exceptionally-talented and his magic is consistent, but not explosively strong
- Jon has extremely strong offensive magic, but often unstable
- I hope you’ll give it a read to find the rest out!

Heyyy, I’m back with more storieees. Well only one but still.
Character: Newt Scamander X Fem Reader
Plot: Y/n goes home early after catching Newt and Tina kissing, but Newt follows her onto the boat.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Warnings: none, just fluffy I think.
I saw them. Their lips connected. My heart shattered . I cleared my throat making Newt quickly move away. Tina looked confused before looking over at me. Her face immediately turning angry. She was pissed. "My boat will be sailing off in 30 minutes, so I will be leaving." I explained to them. "You're already going home?" Newt asked. I nodded as I looked him right in the eyes.
"But I thought we would be leaving together?" He asked confused. "Yeah, but I want to go home now." I answered. "Well... goodbye, Y/n." Tina said as she looked at me with a smile. I didn't answer her before walking off, making my way towards the boat I would be leaving with.
I boarded my boat and was immediately greeted by one of the workers. "A room for one?" I asked her. "Right this way..." She answered with a polite smile. "Y/n y/l/n." I told her. She lead me to an empty room. She opened the door and I saw the queen sized bed against the back wall. "Thank you." I told her with a smile. "If you need anything, you can use the phone and call down to the lobby." She told me. I nodded before she left. I let out a sigh and moved into the room, shutting the door behind me.
I sat on my bed and buried my face in my hands. I was really hoping Newt wouldn't end up with her. I was really hoping he wouldn't end up with anyone for that matter. Why did I even break it off with him in the first place? He's always treated me the way no one else had the balls to. Yet I always just stepped on him, not caring about him. But now I realized just how much I really loved him. How much I still love him. I laid down and let my body slowly slip into a sleeping state. Completely forgetting the fact that it was only 3 pm.
Newts POV
I was running all I could towards the check in. It was still open. "Oh thank merlin." I breathed out. I handed him my ticket. "What's in the luggage?" He asked not really caring. I switched the switch and put the case on the table. He opened it up, checking my stuff. "Go on." He ushered me off. I picked up my case and speed walked onto the ship.
I made my way over to the closest worker. "Hello, do you know where Y/n Y/l/n is?" I asked out of breath. "Room 112." The worker answered. I quickly made my way to the room.
I carefully opened the door. I saw her fast asleep on the bed. She was still wearing all of her clothes and was laying on her stomach. Her hair was a mess. She was a mess. I sat down beside her, wondering if I should wake her up. What even happened that wanted her to go home so soon?
I decided to wait with waking her up. I placed my case down on the ground and stepped inside. I went down into my shack and prepared two cups of tea for us. As they were done, I went back up with both cups in my hands. I placed them down on the nightstand before sitting back down on the bed beside her.
I placed my hand softly on her back as I massaged her lightly. "Y/n?" I asked lowly. She moved slightly. "Not right now, mom." She mumbled as she laid onto her side. "Darling?" I asked her. "Newt?" She asked confused without opening her eyes. "It's me." I answered her, trying to be as comforting as possible.
Her eyes shot open as she sat up abruptly. "Newt!?" She exclaimed. "Yes?" I answered her. She looked me over before standing up and taking a few steps away from me, making sure to keep her distance. "Why aren't you in New York with your girlfriend?" She asked me. It was obvious it hurt her to even think about it. "Who would my girlfriend be?" I asked her confused. I don't have a girlfriend. And if I did, y/n would be the first to know. She's the one I trust the most.
"Tina? You kissed her." She told me. Oh. "Y/n." I tried calming her down as I stood up. She took a step away. "I'm not in a relationship with her." I explained. "But you kissed her?" She asked. "She kissed me. Why do you even care so much about it?" I asked her.
"Because I do."
"Y/n, you're my best friend, I would tell you if I ever got a lover."
She kept quiet as her eyes stayed down, her head hanging slightly.
"But what if I don't want to be your friend?" Her voice was breaking slightly. My face immediately dropped. My heart sank. "What do you mean?" I asked. I can't lose her. I cannot lose Y/n. "I don't want to be your best friend. I don't want to be your friend. I want... I want what we used to have." She told me, her last few words coming out in a whisper.
"Y/n." I tried calming her down as I noticed the wet droplets making their way down her S/c cheeks. "I just... I can't handle seeing you happy with someone else... I can't handle change." She told me. "It's okay." I told her reassuringly as I stood in front of her, wrapping my arms tightly around her.
"No. It's not okay, because it's completely idiotic and egotistical. I'm only thinking about what I want and not taking your feelings into consideration. I want you to be happy, I really do, but I want it to be with me. I want to be the one making you smile. I want to be the one making you laugh." She told me. Her voice low and raspy. "Y/n, shut up." I told her, feeling my shirt get wet by her tears. "I'm sorry." She whispered into my shoulder as she wrapped her arms around me as well.
"I want you too. No I need you." I told her as I cupped her cheeks, moving her away from me just slightly. Her eyes were completely blood shot. "You're crying." Y/n said. I then noticed the wetness of my face. "So are you." I told her as I dried away her tears with my thumbs.
I looked deeply into her intoxicating e/c eyes. Before thinking, I pressed my lips down on hers. She quickly wrapped her arms around my neck as she clamped herself onto my body. I held my right arm tight around her waist as my left hand kept cupping her cheek. As our lips danced with each other, I finally felt at peace again. She was my sturdy ground. My home. And I only ever wanted to be hers. Always
Hey,
Could you please write a Grindelwald one-shot, where he comforts the reader (one of his followers), after her best friend, Newt, died? How would he react, not knowing beforehand how important he was to her?
Grindelwald X Reader: A port in the storm
Warnings: grief, manipulation (tiny bit), death, no use of y/n
Word count: 1,1 K
You had never been good at hiding your emotions, not even when the world around you seemed to demand it. Today, the weight in your chest felt unbearable, the hollow space inside you growing larger with each passing moment. Newt Scamander was gone. You hadn’t expected it — none of you had. But somehow, you had hoped that he would always be there, the eccentric, gentle soul who had been your closest friend for years. Now, there was only the silence of his absence, a silence that echoed too loudly in your heart.
You stood in the darkened corner of the room, still in shock, barely aware of the others moving around you. They were all preoccupied with their own tasks, their own goals, and none of them would understand what Newt had meant to you. But one person did.
Gellert Grindelwald.
You hadn’t noticed him approaching, but the soft click of his boots against the stone floor broke you from your reverie. He was standing beside you now, close enough that you could feel the subtle warmth of his presence, but not close enough to intrude.
"You're grieving."
His voice was low, but with an edge that you couldn’t quite place.
You turned your head slowly, meeting his eyes. They were intense, a mixture of curiosity and something deeper — something far more complex than you could even begin to understand. You nodded, biting your lip to keep the tears at bay. The world had been a much brighter place when Newt was in it, and now it felt unbearably dark.
"I never thought it would happen."
Your eyes glaze over as the image of Newt's body flashes into your mind.
"He was always so... alive. So full of life. He shouldn’t have died. Not like this."
Grindelwald’s gaze softened, though his expression remained neutral. He studied you for a moment, his lips pressing into a thin line.
"Grief is a cruel thing, isn’t it? The way it catches you off guard. The way it changes everything. The world continues spinning, and yet you feel as though it’s stopped completely."
You swallowed hard, fighting the lump in your throat. He had a way of speaking, of phrasing things, that made it almost impossible to remain unaffected. He didn’t offer hollow words of comfort. He didn’t claim to understand the depth of your pain. But there was something in his presence, something that calmed the storm inside you, even as it tore through your heart. You were silent for a long moment before you spoke again, your voice barely more than a whisper.
"He was my best friend. He... he saved me more times than I can count. And now he's gone."
Your eyes burned with the threat of more tears, but you fought them back, clenching your fists at your sides. Beneath the sadness there was also a sort of rage bubbling in your throat.
"I didn’t know. I didn’t realize the extent of your bond with him. If I had, perhaps I would have..."
He trailed off, though the words were unnecessary. You knew what he meant — that he would have protected Newt more fiercely, or perhaps even kept him farther away from the dangers he had been entangled in. But there was no turning back now.
"You didn’t know. No one knew. Not even him. I never told him how much he meant to me. How much his friendship meant. I just assumed... I just assumed he’d always be here."
Grindelwald was silent for a long time, his piercing gaze never leaving your face. Finally, he spoke again, this time with a quiet conviction.
"You’ll carry the memory of him with you. The good parts. The moments of light. The kindness."
His words were simple, yet there was a quiet strength behind them. It was almost as if he was telling them to himself as well as to you. You nodded slowly, feeling the tears you had been holding back finally begin to fall. They slipped down your cheeks in silent streams, a flood you couldn’t stop. But Grindelwald didn’t flinch or turn away. Instead, he stood beside you, his presence grounding you in a way you didn’t quite understand.
Without a word, he reached into the pocket of his coat and pulled out a small, silver vial — a potion, you assumed. He held it out to you, his eyes meeting yours with that same intensity.
"This will ease the pain. It will dull the sharpness of your grief for a time, at least."
You looked at the vial in his hand, then back to his face. For a moment, you considered the offer. But then you shook your head.
"I don’t want to forget him. Not like that."
Grindelwald’s lips twitched at the corners, as if he had expected your refusal.
"No, you shouldn’t forget him. Not completely. But sometimes, the burden of grief is too much to bear on your own. You don’t have to carry it in its entirety just yet."
You hesitated, but after a moment, you took the vial from his hand. The gesture was more than the potion itself. It was a sign that, in this moment, you weren’t alone — that, even in your most broken state, Grindelwald was offering you something more.
"Thank you," you said quietly, your voice thick with emotion.
Grindelwald’s gaze softened, just slightly.
"You are loyal,"
He said it as though it were an observation more than a compliment.
"You loved him deeply. And that is rare. But do not let his death consume you. He would not have wanted that."
You nodded, feeling the weight of his words settle into your heart. It didn’t make the pain go away, not completely. But it did make it feel a little less unbearable. A little less suffocating.
For the first time since Newt’s death, you found a small measure of peace.
Grindelwald stood there with you, silent and still, like the steady flame in the darkness. He may not have known how much Newt had meant to you, but in this moment, he understood more than anyone else ever could. He understood loss. He understood grief. He had experienced both and knew the toll they could take. And perhaps, for all the darkness that he embraced, it was in these quiet moments — moments of shared, unspoken understanding — that you began to see the flicker of something more in him, something more human.
"You will be alright."
He murmured the words, his tone a soft reassurance that you weren’t sure you completely believed — but for the first time in days, you felt as though you might just be able to, eventually. And maybe, in time, the weight of Newt’s absence wouldn’t feel so unbearable. Not with Grindelwald by your side, a steady presence in the storm.
hi (me again) with chapter TWO of meet my boyfriend charlie…. i’m having sm fun writing this i hope u lurv reading 🥹 plz leave me any comments/dm me and feel FREE to check my story out on wattpad
MEET MY BOYFRIEND CHARLIE - TWO
pairings: female OC x charlie weasley (heart eyes, swoon)
TW!!! : cuss words maybe (?), drinking/being drunk, twins being sexy asf (what’s new) …. lmk if i forgot anything! :)
"HERE, pick, don't think i've forgotten you. here, angel, i've got your favorite." annabel softly cooed to the little creature, who hadn't once retreated back into the darkness of her pocket. the twins watched her in awe, her gentleness never ceasing to amaze them.
"he really seems to like you." fred noted, watching how the creature cuddled against her finger.
"aren't they supposed to be shy?" george questioned.
"well, yeah, but pick is comfortable with me. i think he thinks i'm his tree." she laughed, making a kissing face at the little creature. pickett seemed to revel in the attention she gave, cuddling up against her soft skin.
the normally shy tendencies of the creature were tucked far away and fred and george witnessed her pulling the creature from his shell in the most wonderful way. it was unlike anything they'd seen before, but she had that way about her.
it reminded the twins of their brother charlie and his ability with magical creatures. care of magical creatures had always been his forte in school and he'd been one of newt scamander's biggest fans. it was no question that annabel come by her gifts naturally being directly descended from him, and his favorite grandchild by far.
"that's rich. our fido, a tree! a shrub at best, little one." fred retorted, earning another laugh from her. pickett shot him a small glare, but he relaxed when he noticed annabel laughing. referencing her short height, this playful jab was something she was more than used to from the twins.
all throughout her time at hogwarts, she'd been shorter than the twins. it wasn't until the twins' last year that it started to become a bit ridiculous, and now, at an entire foot shorter than both twins, they rarely got through a single conversation without poking fun at her.
"i'm pretty sure he just glared at you, freddie." george laughed now. fred stuck his tongue out at the little creature, earning the same look back from pickett.
"how's he even know i was talking 'bout you? he knows you're fido to us?" fred retorted, eyeing pickett suspiciously.
"he's very intelligent! plus, when grandfather was in trouble, grandmother would call him by his full name. i think pick knows there's a little negative connotation behind it." she gave a pointed look to fred first, then george. the two men burst out laughing when they noticed the small bowtruckle with his hands on his hips, wearing the same expression as annabel.
"you're quite the pair." george said, a small hint of wonder in his voice. even though her apt for being liked by magical creatures was nothing knew to the twins, they'd seen her ride a dragon after all, it never quite resonated with fred the way it did with george.
george chalked that up to the pair being more like each other, but he never failed to notice how large her heart was when she cared for the creatures. her gift was amazing, and while it was no doubt due to the blood that rushed through her veins, george knew there was something else there too.
they twins had met newt scamander on many occasions, simply due to the fact that they were always with annabel and annabel was always with her grandfather. the twins adored him, just as annabel did and it was blatantly obvious that annabel was newt's favorite.
it was as though he could see into her heart, and he knew that she held only the purest of love for his creatures. it was no surprise to the twins how newt led her through his briefcase, allowing her to feed and care for every one of his animals just as he had once done.
it was also no surprise that newt hadn't been the least bit deterred from teaching her to care for his creatures when she'd left hogwarts and trained at st. mungo's to be a healer. out of everyone in her life, even the twins, newt was the one that was most supportive of her decision.
he'd seen, firsthand, her ability to heal others and her exceptional grades had only fueled her decision.
she'd never earned anything less than an outstanding mark, even in potions, and she was known around hogwarts as snape's favorite prodige.
even though she denied such things.
"fred, you can't just turn the pile over haphazardly like that! you're messing up my flow. i'm trying to beat you!" annabel cried, whining in the middle of their card game. fred winked at george, who simply shook his head.
this was how every tuesday night went for the threesome. annabel joined the twins in their flat and they recounted their week over some sort of take out dinner. they'd follow that up with card games over a bottle, or bottles, of wine and firewhiskey. at the end of their night, one of the twins would wind up escorting annabel down the hall to her honorary bedroom, where they'd drop her in bed and leave her be for the evening.
the twins kept the bedroom made up just for her, and they preferred it that way. they kept her pastel yellow sheets that she loved so much washed and turned down just so. george made sure to keep a fresh bouquet of flowers in the window sill for her and her favorite book out on the nightstand should she ever come over and not go to bed absolutely sloshed.
but that book would definitely be of no use tonight, as she'd downed almost half of bottle of white wine on her own and had falsely claimed she'd won their last game a few hands too early.
fred topped her now empty glass off with more of the wine he'd bought down the street earlier that day, and refilled his own glass of firewhiskey.
the twins always made sure that they had her favorite white wine on hand, seeing as they'd exhausted most other liquor on her in their time at hogwarts.
even though she'd never admit that of course. she was a prefect after all, she'd never be caught dead drinking of all things at one of the twins' famous gryffindor parties.
white wine was the only way the twins could get her to relax and unwind from her stressful studying when she'd been training to be a healer, and it was then that they'd developed this tradition. she even had her favorite wine glass that the twins kept on display on their bar cart for their tuesday night adventures, and each and every one of them looked forward to this night each week.
hours later, george insisted that annabel get to bed before she was too drunk to work in the morning.
"oh, come off it! you know mcgonagall will have our heads if i don't drop you off bright and early tomorrow morning!" george sighed out, resisting the pout on her face.
"oh, 'ere we go, georgie's always gotta be the bad guy!" fred called out, pulling annabel closer into his arms like he was trying to shield her from george's wrath. the pair were standing just in front of the fireplace, having just wrapped up an entire concert of a performance for george who was watching, nay laughing from the couch.
when fred got her just drunk enough, he was able to convince her to do her favorite karaoke for george. that was their favorite part of their nights together, because it was when she was truly inebriated enough to let all of her inhibitions go. it was extremely rare for her, but the twins had truly never seen her as happy as she was then.
so george let her preform just one more song before he scooped her up into his arms and carried her down the hallway. it was never too difficult, she was small enough for him to throw her over his shoulder even though she complained very often about her appearance. that was one of those inhibitions that george, and fred, hated the most.
and by that point in the night, she was unsteady enough already on her feet that it required very little of his effort.
"my room!" she squealed as they crossed the threshold into the bedroom. fred had followed and was laughing from the doorway as george laid her in bed.
"yours until charlie takes up residence in here in a few days..." george muttered as he pulled her covers up gently to her shoulders.
"CHARLIE?" she questioned, causing george to glance behind him. fred covered his mouth to stifle his laugh, but he gave his twin a knowing nod.
"i think he'd quite like that, rather..." george muttered again, giving her a kiss on the forehead. her eyes had already drifted closed and george knew that she probably wouldn't remember that conversation in the morning.
but as he joined fred in the doorway, their matching smirks told him that they'd definitely remember the way her eyes betrayed her and lit up at the mention of charlie's name.
Writing Newt (who’s just turned 11 in this excerpt) and his dad makes me very happy. I’ve punted “[Newt] comes from a very Ministry family, who are very much about getting the promotion, upholding the law” directly onto his uncle instead of his parents, and that’s made writing his childhood significantly less depressing than it might have otherwise been. Plus, his dad cracks me up so 💁🏼
#fic: the riot act#my stuff#newt scamander#oc ch: helios scamander#young newt scamander#autistic newt scamander#this little one shot is pretty plotless but the context of this is that Newt has behaved rather poorly while visiting his uncle at the#ministry — but his uncle behaved rather atrociously in return#but newts 11 so his uncle probably needs to take a chill pill ya know#oc_ch: Hesiod Scamander
in the middle of writing for twin flames, i took a break to inspire myself so my sister and i decided to watch fantastic beasts. (cause we like harry potter, fuck jk rowling) and ive been playing hogwarts magic awakened for the last few days.
and guess what. i have a planned small one-shot for one and only for newt scamander!!
he just radiates too much pure energy to me. so be prepared even though it seems like fandom is quiet and dead. that is what im good at, being attached to almost dying fandom and creating fics for them cause what else can i do.
Hadlee Euphoric
Hadlee Cassandra Euphoric (1977-) is a witch who attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the late 20th century. She is able to see glimpses of the future VIA dreams or from physical contact.
She grew up as the only child of Azan Euphoric and Lavina Scamander. Even though she did always want a younger sibling, she was content with her life with her parents and very large family. Some of her favorite memories are of the adventures she went on with her grandfather, Newt Scamander.
When she was seven, she had a repeated nightmare of her mother being blown to bits while at work as a Curse-Breaker for Gringotts. Hadlee ended up making herself sick with worry, which caused her mother to stay home from work to care for her. That very same day, there was a large explosion at the bank that resulted in the injury of multiple people.
It was then they knew that Hadlee had inherited her great-grandmother's gift of seeing the future.
In 1989, she started her first year at Hogwarts where she was sorted into Hufflepuff. During the Sorting Ceremony, she brushed hands with Cedric Diggory, and was hit with multiple visions of the future. Their future.
Hadlee tried to fight it at first. She tried to ignore the way his eyes sparkled in the light or the way his hair perfectly framed his face—
She fell for him during her second year.
Luckily for Hadlee, Cedric felt the same way and they started dating at the beginning of their fourth year. Happily ever after for them! Haha just kidding.
During Hadlee's sixth year, she started to have horrifying visions of Cedric dying while competing in the Triwizard Tournament. While trying to figure out what all was happening with her abilities, Barty Crouch Jr. (disguised as Alastor Moody) was trying to kill her so she wouldn't ruin his plans.
On June 24th, 1995, Hadlee went to Barty Crouch Jr. to share with him her theory of the Triwizard Cup being a portkey. She wasn't aware of his role in everything and figured he was there to help.
She was able to hear the commotion of the crowd outside and assumed that she had failed with saving Cedric's life. However, her not being in the crowd prompted Cedric to abandon the task and look for her. She was able to save him.
