I Know The End
Eternals x reader
warnings:
a/n: wait this song is kinda perfect for this
prompt: @the-kinnie-in-me: “Hi! I saw the extension for your 8k event (congrats btw) and wanted to participate with “I know the end” by Phoebe Bridgers + Marvel’s Eternals + Familial and reader is an eternal too if that’s okay 😅 tysm in advance 💕”
Tumblr media
It happened to be that you left the Eternals long before the rest felt the need. Something just didn’t feel right as you spent some thousand years protecting humanity and regardless of what the others thought or their devotion to the mission, you knew you wanted out.
You snuck away in the dead of night feeling a massive sense of guilt the further the distance from the only family you’d known all these years. Ajak, Druig, Sersi, all of them would be so hurt you left without a word—but would they have let you leave if you told them?
You didn’t want to be found, not for now. Maybe not ever. But those memories would always haunt you and urge you to go back and you couldn’t drown them out.
Now it was the 21st century and the Eternals were at your front door.
“Found you.” Druig chuckled, inviting himself and the others into your little apartment. “The end is here, y/n.”
“No ‘hello,’ huh? What do you mean? Why are you here?” Your voice chock-full of frustration and embarrassment.
“There was no ‘goodbye.’” Sersi replied, lightly stepping on your creaky hardwood floor, observing some of your collection. “Six hundred A.D.” She pointed to an item on your shelf. “Egypt without us?” You sat down on your couch and shook your head.
“Why did you guys come here? ‘The end’ isn’t good enough.” You demanded as Sprite sat beside you.
“Deviants are back.” Ikaris explained and you rolled your eyes.
“You can handle those. I saw them on the news.m already.” Your guard hadn’t dropped yet, but you felt tears welling just from your family being present in your home.
“A new Celestial is being born.” Sersi added, something they should have led with. “From Earth. It will destroy everything if we don’t find a way to prevent that.”
“You want to kill it?” You asked, completely horrified.
“Merely put it off until a better option presents itself.” Druig continued the conversation and your eyes widened, not understanding how that would even be possible. Your life flashed before you and you just felt lost—you had no idea what happened between when you left and now. Fifteen hundred years passed and now they were asking for your help as if nothing had happened.
“Will you come with us?” Ikaris asked and all eyes fell onto you. You felt a lump in your throat when the question was presented, and Sprite grabbed your hand and squeezed it.
“We need you, y/n. Goodbye or not, we want you there with us when we figure this out.” Sersi assured you, and you smiled lightly.
“Yeah. If you don’t, everyone might die.” Druig added and Ikaris glared at him. You chuckled out of amusement and discomfort and nodded.
“Yeah. Why not…”

I took the home test and guess what! Positive.
But. I am feeling better today. Had another headache this morning and throat bothering and cough but after that-- having more energy and less throat problems than yesterday. I do have somewhat covid brain - my mind drifts off oddly at pretty much anything I'm doing. And I don't even notice it at 1st. But after shots and previous infection it's a lot better than last time when it was like a bad cold and I lost my sense of smell and lasted for like a week. Over Christmas (2020)

Australian-first legislation to see gender equality targets mandated in Victorian public sector|SBS News
Women's rights campaigners and service leaders hope new laws requiring Victoria's public sector to hit gender equality targets will be embraced nationally.
Under legislation presented to Victorian Parliament this week, more than 300 public sector employers covering more than 300,000 workers, including federal government departments, councils and emergency situation services, will need to show they are "actively pursuing" gender equality targets.
If they stop working to report adequate progress, they can be bought to do so by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
Moroccan Soup Bar creator Hana Assafiri, who sits on the Ministerial Council on Women's Equality, stated the legislation is an Australian very first.
"Victoria is leading the social conscience on recording the altering sentiment towards ladies and joining and leading the whole state," Ms Assafiri told SBS News.Ms Assafiri, whose business uses 40 ladies, said governments across Australia had pledged to minimize violence against ladies, however that needed action to resolve structural inequality.
"I think we've been too hollow on rhetoric and conversations and extremely little active structural change has occurred that goes to the heart of the inequality which not only leaves ladies faring lesser, however also leaves them in positions where they are susceptible to violence and legitimating those systems."
Hana Assafiri says the Victorian gender equality legislation is an Australian first.
The legislation likewise needs firms to think about the impact of other types of discrimination such as bigotry and ageism on gender equality, rather than sexism in seclusion.
"It's an Expense that has actually left from taking a look at reasons for oppression in a blinkered way, it's looking at the issues affecting women in an intersectional way and it's trying to speak with the most susceptible and disadvantaged group of females," Ms Assafiri said.
Designed on gender equality laws in location in Iceland, Norway and Finland, the legislation requires companies to reveal how they are attending to the gender pay space, sexual harassment and accomplishing equality in career opportunities. But it stops brief of mandating quotas for female representation at senior levels. Women's Health East Kristine Olaris, who also rests on the Ministerial Council on Women's Equality, said individual workplaces can still set quotas, under the laws."I believe that they are a really important method
of making progress happen, "she stated. While the economic sector is not covered by the laws, some
organisations that engage with government departments and companies could be impacted. Under the legislation, standards for procurement might be changed to
need effective professionals to have gender equality plans." That would be really where the rubber hits the roadway," she said. Ms Olaris hoped Victoria
's legislation, set to be discussed by the end of the year,
would build momentum for national change to resolve the reasons for violence against ladies."We understand that daily sexism that goes on in workplaces truly can have significant impacts
on ladies's health and being."It doesn't need to be single acts that are rather serious it can be the little daily things that actually whittles
away at females's sense of confidence, their health and wellbeing and their health."

Why are 37% of all articles Awesome?
Our thinking was that one of the barriers to participation in a conversation on the phone is the keyboard, so we wanted to reduce that barrier by making participation as simple as a tap of the thumb. The challenge is that everyone has their own unique voice, and so limiting expression to a set of five words could also raise the barrier to participation. So our solution was to provide a set of words that were as ambiguous and open to interpretation as possible.  We had some guesses about how people would use News.me Reactions, but as is the case with most startups, we had no f*cking clue. We’re a bit geeky about tracking usage data at News.me, so of course we tracked how people were using Reactions. Here’s what we learned: Users can either type in their own custom Reaction, or use one of our “preset” Reactions. 62% of the time users opted for one of our one-tap preset Reactions. “Awesome” wins with 37%, followed by “Wow” in a distant second at 23%. Sadly,  “Sad” takes last place with a mere 10% of all Reactions posted. The next question is: why…? Are people more likely to share “Awesome” articles? Or are they just more likely to describe what they share as “Awesome”? Why don’t people share “Sad” articles? Or are they just less likely to use “Sad” to describe articles that they share? Remember that News.me looks at the links shared by your friends on Twitter and Facebook, so you can’t React to any article that doesn’t come from one of those two sources. Is it possible that few “Sad” articles appear on Twitter and Facebook, and so there are just fewer “Sad” articles to React to on News.me in the first place?
At the core of this line of questioning is a single quandary: why do people share?
Instead of waxing philosophical on our blog, we thought we’d open it up to our users: why do YOU share?
Looking forward to your thoughts!
