American Express, Kitsuné Kick Off NBA All-Star Pop-Ups

American Express teamed up with Shaquille O’Neal to kick off the NBA All-Star Week with a pop-up activation in Los Angeles you might call the Game of Zones.

AmEx brand ambassador O’Neal, above, having fun with the pop-up’s throne and crown, was one of the stars making a guest appearance at the The American Express Experience, mingling with fans on the opening day of the experience.

The pop-up, which is free and open to the public, is an extension of its high-profile sponsorship of the NBA All-Star game on TNT. Membership does have its privileges, however. A private cardholder-only event for VIPs will benefit proceeds from a Kendrick Lamar concert on Friday night to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles.

AmEx’s NBA-themed pop-up offers a multi-sensory journey of basketball, bringing fans through different interactive rooms and instillations, including the Lakers Vault, a room of 18 handmade Chandelier Hoops, LED-lighted Neon Backboards and a walkway of Exploded Floorboards.

To promote discovery of the pop-up, AmEx promoted keywords to draw attention to the space in Google Maps.

The activation has something for everyone, from die-hard to casual fans, from AmEx Card Members to other NBA fans checking out the American Express Experience.

During a press preview, VIP guests, celebrities and influencers stopped by to check out the space, including O’Neal, actors Anthony Anderson, Jerry Ferrara and Jesse Williams and TV personality Maria Menounos.

The American Express Experience, located at 1147 South Hope Street in downtown LA, is open to the public through February 17th.

The Kitsuné x NBA Pop-Up Series

In a different pop-up collaboration, Kitsuné, the hip French brand, has partnered with the NBA on a capsule collection of 15 unisex pieces which is being promoted with a traveling series of pop-up events, from Los Angeles (now) to Chicago, Toronto, New York, Boston, Atlanta, Miami and Houston.

Inspired by street style and basketball, Kitsuné founders Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki recast Kitsuné’s logo in the NBA’s signature font.

In addition to t-shirts, jackets and other co-branded apparel, the Kitsuné Pop-Up Shop at the Commons Club at Virgin Hotels Chicago (February 22-25) will feature a custom soundtrack sampling hip-hop and electronic music from North American artists at a rooftop party, which is open to the public, featuring live sets from DJs until 2 a.m.

Guyanese Reggae Shines On New Compilation 'Higher Level' - SSignal Productions (Music Inside)

New York, NY – Featuring the crème de la crème of Guyana’s rich and diverse reggae music scene, new compilation Higher Level – Various Artists shines internationally as it is now available worldwide from all major digital retailers (released on September 2, 2014), from FOX FUSE. Produced by Guyanese production house SSignal Productions, Higher Level is reminiscent of classic reggae and breaks new ground for the featured local acts, and also for Guyanese reggae, on the whole.

              The 10-track opus features a mix of Guyanese stars and rising sensations, including Charmaine Blackman, Bonny Alves, Francine Hendricks, EGO, Devon Denny, Amanda Peters, Dawn Edwards, Abigail James, Jada Harry and Natoya London, and brings sweet sounds and smooth songs for reggae aficionados everywhere.

  Established in 2002, Higher Level is a pet project that has long been in the works for SSignal Productions, and everyone involved is thrilled to finally see its global debut. “This has been the most significant development since our existence,” states Bonny Alves, CEO of SSignal Productions and a featured artist on Higher Level.
