Dumbest-Ass Crossover Idea That Someone's Gotta Do So It Might As Well Be Me, Someday, Maybe: So, given the recent resurgence of popularity of old franchises due to new material, and the nature of this particular fandom (Trigun) on Ao3 that I've noticed with lots of AU fics - haven't read them all, just seen the summaries (I've seen modern, coffee-shop, flower-shop, tattoo-parlor, Wolfwood moves to the Appliachians and Vash is a mysterious creature, one I started reading that was an AU sci-fi that was vaguely Jurrassic Park-ish featuring Wolfwood the game warden, some fusion with Game of Thrones that I started to read even though I've never read or watched GoT but went WTF at and something, something, unlucky twin-births and dragons...and anyway...) Why haven't I seen a Hunger Games fusion yet? Seriously, I'm pretty sure Hunger Games has gotten up into everything by now. I used to see crossovers of it everywhere in multiple fandoms. In fact, I have a giant multi-story series I was doing for a while on both fanfiction dot net and Ao3 where I fusioned it with Super Smash Bros. - which kind of makes sense because SSB is a fighting game, but I really did relish taking the innocent goofiness of Nintendo and making it high stakes where characters actually died gruesomely and had high drama because I am just sick and twisted that way! Anyway, my brain's chewing on Did You Get Trigun in my Hunger Games? Did you get Hunger Games in my Trigun?
Okay, so the biggest hurdle to this kind of thing is - I'd want a young Vash as the main character / arena-victor in the story. How's he gonna get out of it without killing? How's he gonna get out of it without killing and his whole thing of trying to save everyone? Probably will go like canon-Trigun, wherein he tries and fails... I don't want this to take place on Gunsmoke / Noman's Land because I kind of want the setup and lore of the Districts, so it would be an alternate universe in which SEEDS never left Earth and everything takes place in Panem. Because I don't want this to be "just insert character names here," I definitely would want Plants to exist. The Plants were created and different manufacture-types exist in different Districts, as well as backups and relays to support the various District industries and infrastructure. Vash and Knives were born to an energy-Plant operating in District 10, the Livestock / Meat District. Their names make perfect sense in this district, Vash being named for "cow" and Knives being for tools important to the District, respectively. (Yes, the entirety of this fusion idea comes from their dang NAMES)! Rem discovered and adopted them. She's the last survivor of a band of Covey that was separated from one of the main bands when the Districts were unified, her family having been round up in District 10 (distant relations in 12). She still sings her grandmother's old songs. Her full name is Remembrance Red Saverem, going by the tradition of having a color in the name. I'm not sure what ballad her first name would cite, but I could always bullshit a new Panem-specific one. Rem gets hung after being caught on subversive activities while Vash is in the games. Knives has to deliver the bad news when he gets home on the train. Knives goes full in on some of the rebellion-plans that Mom was involved in, but gets a little more mass-murder happy about it. Tesla is a Plant-child born in District 3. That is all I know. Feel free to brainstorm (Especially since this thing will probably never happen, I'm just spitballing ideas).

Good afternoon!!!
I am Andrew and how I can see your audience is pretty big and you're pretty popular in Hazbin community. So how did you gain you audience? I would wanted to listen some recommendations for new content makers.
Pal I don't know if I'm the right person to ask this ahah because I have no idea, I just draw what I like, post it and see how it goes basically. I just love Alastor and Radiorose so much that I need to talk about them and draw them or else I feel like I'm going to explode. I need art about them to chew on constantly so I check the radiorose tag almost everyday (sometimes I comment on posts and people seem surprised to see me there ahah guys I am just as brainroted as you yk). And I guess people are the same as me and need food to chew on too. Who knows
I'll ramble more under the cut:
Tbh I'm just an hobbyist I want to make art that I love and am passionate about and if it draws people's love and attention in the process then good! If not, then it's ok too. I least I made food for myself to enjoy.
It might be surprising but I spend my free time writing fanfics that I'm never going to post ahah, I just like to reuse some stuff I write and make them into comics. I write my little fake scenarios for my own enjoyment in the first place. For example this recent Radiorose comic originally was a one shot I wrote back in February. I only made it into a comic recently because I really wanted to share it with people (and fun fact at first it ended with Alastor being so startled by this whole conversation that he left her apartment without a word and didn't talk to her for like a week. I changed it to make it funnier because I like to entertain people more than make them sad :'D)
I don't want to be popular or make art for other people, I make it for my own enjoyment first and I just like to share it sometimes to see if people will enjoy my vision! So I dont know what kind of advice I could give you ahah I don't know if I have the right mindset for that.
I also think I have the bonus point of being an experienced artist. I've been drawing for 12 years, studied art academically for 6 years, I work in the animation industry, I have a lot of experience in posting online, and I've been drawing for a lot of fandoms in my life: Death Note, Undertale, Mystic Messenger, Moomin, Steven Universe, One Piece, The Legend of Zelda, Trigun Stampede, and now Hazbin Hotel. My artistic skills are completely different from when I was drawing in my first fandom (Death Note) in 2015 ahah. Now no matter what fandom I draw in I always get a decent amount of reactions thanks to my artistic skills and experience.
It makes me sad to see smaller artists compare themselves to me sometimes and be disappointed that they don't get as much attention as me. Just be aware that I have a degree in art and animation and I've been posting art on Internet since I'm 14. I'm almost 25. Don't beat yourself up you'll get there 💖

Fic Rec: New Growth
Author: Puffinpastry
Fandom: Trigun
Relationships: Knives & Vash, Vashwood, Knives & Wolfwood
Tags/Warnings: Alternate Universe - Post-Canon, Alternate Universe - Everyone Lives/Nobody Dies, Millions Knives-centric (Trigun), Depression, Implied Mpreg, Mostly trimax with some tristamp for seasoning, Trans Vash the Stampede (Trigun), Trans Millions Knives (Trigun), Millions Knives domestication arc, Brief suicidal ideation, Angst with a Happy Ending, past trans male pregnancy
Summary: Knives never planned on seeing his brother again. He’d hurt Vash in countless ways, it was the least he could do to keep his distance and allow his brother to lead the peaceful life he deserved. But when their paths cross and Knives witnesses that peaceful life for himself, and realize what all he’s missing, he’s unable to return to his self-imposed exile.
I'll admit I haven't dipped my toes into many Knives-centric fics, but this one definitely hit all the right notes for me. I love how the fic handles his character, acknowledging what he did in canon and the gravity and impact it had on Vash (and everyone else). I also appreciate that Vash's feelings on the matter are handled in what is, to me, a very realistic and understandable way. It's also nice to just see Vash and Wolfwood happy with kids! This is in-progress at the time of writing the recommendation, but I am so excited to see how it develops. I love post-Trimax AUs, and this one definitely does not disappoint. Definitely check it out if you have a chance!

GAAAHHH I HAVEN'T BEEN HERE IN SO LONG I'VE BEEN SO FOCUSED ON ANOTHER FANDOM I'VE COMPLETELY GHOSTED OBEY ME
I'm sorry to disappoint you Ro, but I have let the OM! fandom down, I have joined the Trigun fans & their gang of 4 on their journey on the planet Gunsmoke. 😔
...
...
...
please forgive me & salute me on my adventure. 🫡
BUT!! 🍑
That also gave me an idea 😉:
Imagine Levi with a (mostly) normie MC who doesn't really get that much into anime, they're not that into collecting figurines, manga, or other products, but they don't mind joining Levi & listening to his fixations.
But then one day out of the blue, when he's just chilling in his room MC comes barging in suddenly scaring the absolute shit out of him, & Dumping an armful of dvds, manga books, figurines, stands, artbooks, plusses, you name it, in front of him, saying they lied and they're not a normie at all and that they just rediscovered an old anime/manga franchise they used to love that they just so happened to forget about, only for them to rediscover it when the reboot was announced (*cough* Trigun Stampede) and then begin going on 1-3 hour long rant about how amazing the series is, what they love and hate about it, the storyline, the characters, their favorite and least favorite characters, what they think of the different iterations, telling him about all the merchandise they have, what they think of the reboot, blah blah blah and Levi's just sitting there with the thousand yard stare, absolutely gobsmacked, thinking:
*I'm so proud of you!!🥺🥺🥺*
-🦢
OMG NOOO!!! Trigun is so fuckin’ amazing never apologize for liking it / moving fandoms a bit 🦢!!! + Vash is just soooo omfgfsgssg I love him sm <3 so I get it, best of luck on your new fandom journey ;)
and omfg- Levi would be so happy that MC found something to enjoy as much, as he enjoys his fixations!!!!
And when he can finally snap out of his gobsmacked moment, he’ll start talking about other, related things MC might like!!!!
Especially if he can think of something he’s already into that they might enjoy!! And he’ll start pouting out fun facts MC might not know yet-
or even just agreeing with them about how (their least favorite character) really is the worst in the show and how much (character) sucks!!-

Hey!
I know I’ve already left a few asks here(I just love your meta okay?) and I had an idea- I saw a comment on the r/Trigun subreddit that Stampede should have picked up where the 98 anime left off, and after reading your thoughts on how you would fix Stampede, here’s my idea; Trigun Stampede but instead of a “reimagining” it’s a direct sequel to the 98 series but pulls from Maximum and instead of just picking and choosing stuff it keeps MOSTLY faithful but reworks and maybe streamlines different parts so it fits in with the timeline of the 98 anime and where it ended, picking up where the last episode of the anime left off.
I just wanted to know your thoughts and how you would make it work?
Hello there,
Thanks for another question! I honestly, would have preferred a full redo of the manga, but maybe keeping the first 5 episodes of the '98 with world building "filler" episodes and then dove into a more manga accurate story. The beauty of those first 5 were it takes him until that 5th episode to draw his gun and fire. The build up and tension was perfect and matched the side story in the manga where Vash uses a target to perfectly hit people so they don't die. I however, would add in more non-canon plot points with Meryl and Milly to keep the magic sauce that was Vash, Wolfwood, Meryl and Milly. These are easy tweaks that could have been added into a refreshed version. Honestly, the quartet character dynamics was great.
The '98 anime did the best with what it could do, but a more streamlined less wandering version of Trigun Maximum would likely have resonated well with older fans. For example there were some random chapters that were action packed but really didn't serve the plot (especially around the Eye of Michael) and Wolfwood got some side chapters which did flesh out his character more but lead to further wandering. I think a major problem with this was the fact they either had to make a 12 episode series or 24 to match current broadcasting 'standards' which was not the case with the '98 anime operating on the considerably older model of the 26 episode season. Though in that case they were animating with cels and Studio Orange is 3D CG. I have no idea how the time/effort per episode compares.
With how long the manga was, I think Stampede needed at least 2 or 3 seasons (say minimum of the 12 episodes per season) or 2 seasons with the (12 + 12 combo like for Spy x Family etc. giving a total of 48 which, damn would likely get the job done).
It got the 'Cliff Notes' version of events and the weird pacing shows. The major problem is that the story never had time to breathe and it just needed to be longer so it could have a more natural progression. Too many things were blink and miss it or sure you totally got X b/c if you squint you'll understand a complex concept.
It is clear that the predominantly (American) English language fandom was expecting the FMA Brotherhood treatment. That was not this and I can honestly see how disappointing it was. For me, I rewatched it back in December and was pleasantly surprised at how well it held up and fun it was. Reading the manga filled in some gaps a but also left me confused and finding a more manga accurate anime would have made my happy. We all know this is not what happened. They went in a sci fi direction (confirmed by more than one interview of staff on the project) created a whole new world and concept. I have also really noticed but will have no stats to back this up; but there is a clear demographic divide on how Stampede was received. I hate to generalize, but it seems dudes who are mainly straight cis-het men, who watched the anime a long time ago (and are super anime watchers consuming way more than I do in short periods) seem to give it the most positive reviews. They say it seems the same, sure it looks different and they kinda sorta miss Milly but its fine otherwise. Maybe I'm wrong since those are also the people who - not surprisingly - have the loudest voices on the internet be it Youtube channels and general prominence. However, as soon as you shift to other viewers there is a lot more concern. Many women are upset at the poor female characterization across the board in Trigun where all of the women were made shadows of their former selves. None of my female friends who watched the original enjoyed what happened to the women in Stampede. Queer fans also seem to have a more negative view with so many of the gay, trans, non-binary aspects of the original cast now gone. [Legato, Elendira, Zazie] 'Cause Legato barely appeared and his huge crush on Knives is not the same as in the manga. Elendira - gone and Zazie hasn't gotten good characterization as well. I'm not saying all people of one demographic can be correlated with their feelings towards it, but it does seem to have general vibes. And it is hard to tell something like this without a statistically robust analysis but it is what I've noticed. Maybe I'm wrong, and I'm toodling around in my small patch of the web but that's what I've observed. Not many straight cis het men are like, "Oh yeah, I really noticed how the female characters are either dead mother figures or cute uwu waifus or literal children. I wonder how other viewers who miss strong female representation now feel?"
I'm not here to stoke a culture war and virtue signal or anything like that. Nor am I falling into the woke SJW whatever you call it. I've sat through enough actual [and incredibly depressing] seminars about studies on the role of diversity and representation in fields (mine specifically being STEM) and when I learned that for women to have proper representation in biology textbooks, it would take another 100 years, I cringed. When you learned at the current rate it would take 500 years for black scientists to be properly represented - it - just - well, fuck. Feel free to think about this for any group that are not cis-het white men. And then feel icky and sad.
Now, is this fair to place such high standards on a product made in a specific cultural context for entertainment? I mean, likely not, the whole point is to have fun and make money through merch.
Buuuuuuuttttt . . . .
I know that diversity in media has a long way to go and it was sad to see a diverse manga lose that diversity in the more recent version. Until media companies and production studios and teams 'get it' they won't realize that there is a market for it. Which is hilarious since the original was way more diverse and interesting than Stampede. Seriously, why are there no black people in Stampede? This leaves me scratching my head in confusion since Kekkai Sensen has an even more diverse cast! Nightow clearly writes these types of characters on purpose. It didn't get lost when Bones did the first two seasons of Kekkai Sensen. Hell, the inherent diversity of Kekkai Sensen is literally written into actual dialogue in the chapter/OVA King of the King of the Restaurants.
I didn't mean to fall into a rabbit hole, but I'm really thinking there are going to be very different responses and 'fix-it' solutions for what fans had wanted to see or hoped they'd see with this. Okay, I'm going to shut up now. But yeah, I'd do a early '98 anime with manga hybrid as my reboot for Trigun.

my biggest challenge with regards to addressing the things i'm frustrated about in popular trigun fanon is that i don't necessarily think any of them are bad on an individual level, i respect everyone's right to create fanwork even if it's not so much fanwork as using existing characters as a template for their own personal proclivities. that's. fine. everyone does it.
i really don't want to imply that everyone who's decided they like wolfwood better if he's bulky and betitted and sexually capable is doing it because they need to check their internalized biases in regards to the expectations of masculinity for men of color and the general perception of latino men. that's allowed to be a thing you like. and 98 and trimax wolfwood do have some traits that vaguely resemble fanon wolfwood. it's not like it came out of nowhere.
but. if that's what everyone is doing, regardless of the canon being depicted. that's just a little bit weird!! that is a totally different guy from any of the versions of the existing character. and the specific traits that have been invented wholecloth for this fanon version have some. baggage!!! given the simultaneous redesigning that across the board darkens his skintone significantly.
and similarly i don't have anything against trans vash headcanons or even the tendency to have the trans character bottom, there is zero problem with that. i have literally, intentionally, written wolfwood the same way people write vash because i genuinely agree that the dynamic is hot.
but when "has a cunt" has replaced vash's entire personality in fanon because of course being a trans man means being a squeaky tearful uwu bottom and probably a virgin. i start looking around for who spiked the punch with terf koolaid. this is more than just falling for vash's bit this is just. wringing him of any individuality or canon personality.
complicating things even more is that a lot of this shit predates stampede, and it predates stampede because the original versions of characters did have some of the quirks that their new & fanon soup versions are assigned. but they had those as part and parcel of their characters, and that's just been repurposed into extremely tired and racist & bioessentialist tropes.
i know this is a bigger problem than this one fandom or just these two characters, but vashwood is my ship, so it's the place i've felt the most disappointment.

Okie so one of my current interests is a game called five nights at Freddy’s(fnaf)!! I’ve liked this game series for a long time, it’s honestly one of the longest fandoms that I’ve been in!! Plus fnaf has also been a thing that I’ve liked for so long, I honestly don’t think that I’ll ever stop loving it cause it’s basically apart of my childhood and it’s still something that I love. But anyways, recently a teaser trailer for the movie came out and oh my godddd!!! It looks so good, I’m so bloody excited for the movie!! It’s been in the works for so long and now that we got a teaser trailer AND it’s coming out this year?! AAAHHHHHHH I’m kicking and screaming!!! And and, today a gameplay trailer was released for the new fnaf security breach dlc called ruin and ohhhhhhhh it looks so good as well!!! The design and atmosphere of the game is great, I can’t wait when it comes out so that I can watch gameplay of it!!! And and, I might be able to play it too since my older brother is gonna buy it when it comes out so yayyyyy!!
Okie okie, so my next interest is another video which is Resident Evil 4 remake(re4 remake) and ohhhhhhhh it’s such a bloody pretty game!! The graphics and gameplay is amazingggg!! And and the characters are so pretty too!! My favorite characters from the game are Leon, Ashely, and Luis- and you can call me a simp but I would gladly marry those three because god damn do they look so so pretty and beautiful!! I’m not too far into the game since I’m only watching two friends stream and play it but I’m currently rewatching their stream vods to refresh my memory. But ahhhhhhh the game is so gorgeous and everything about it is so great!! Asmskachkasjkwchajl and and the merchant in re4 remake, aaahhhhhhhh- I like wanna be his friend so bad!! I wanna give him a big ol’ hug each time I see him!! Currently I can’t play it since it’s on the newer gen consoles but whenever I can I’ll definitely 100% play it!!
Finally, my last current interest is an anime called Trigun!! I only recently got into it but ohhhh myyyy godddd does that anime have a grip on me!! The only reason I got into it was because I kept seeing a bunch of TikTok edits of the reboot version of the show which is called Trigun Stampede(I’ll refer to it as TriStamp) so I caved in and I started to watch it and I don’t regret my decision. I was not disappointed!! I loved the characters, the animation, the story- I just loved everything about it!! Then after I finished watching TriStamp a few weeks later I decided why not and I watched the og Trigun. And ohhhhhh myyyyy goddddd, my love for the show grew ten times more!! It was the same show and the same characters but just something about it was so different!!! I just loved it so much!! And and I also watch the movie as well(called Trigun: Badlands Rumble) because I just needed more content!! I’m genuinely so hooked with this anime, the brain rot I have of it is unreal. I recently got two funko pops of my two favorite characters from the anime and I plan to get the rest of the characters but I like wanna get more merch lol xddd Last weekend I saw two figures of two characters from Trigun, I didn’t get them and I regret not buying them but hopefully this weekend me and my brothers will go to the same mall and hopefully, hopefully they’ll still be there that way I can buy them!! There’s also gonna be a TriStamp figure and I want it so baddddd, and and there’s a Trigun and Trigun Maximum deluxe edition manga!! Shubsjjcknskhwkmkfnrk I wanna buy that tooooo!! I’m hoping I’ll be able to get both of these things sometime in the future(maybe even for Christmas but I doubt it.) but ahhhhhh just- the brain rot I have is unbelievable and this show just lives rent free in my mind rn
i've heard about the fnaf movie!! one of my irls loves fnaf and was telling me all about how excited they were for the movie. I dont remember him mentioning anything about the new game being released, but he was super excited about the movie.
ive seen so much abt resident evil (specifically about that one guy named leon) . it actually looks really interesting tbh
IVE SEEN REALLY COOL ART FOR TRIGUN ON TWITTER!!! the one guy with the yellow glasses has such cool character design and its so cool to see how different artists put their own spin on it

B,C, & Z fandom Q's 😊
From this ask meme.  Thank you, Lil
B - A pairing youinitially didn’t consider but someone changed your mind
By now everyone knows how I came toJesus with Sherlock and Molly (Sustain, basically), so I won’trehash it again.  It took me a while to decide if this qualified, but @soyeahso gave me the nudge (not on purpose or anything, more likeshe walked by me and the breeze caused me to trip and fall, slapsticstyle) to finally see what this Reylo business is all about.  Ihadn’t even bothered with the movies (because fuck Disney) until shewrote a fic I wanted to read, so I had to watch them to understandwhat was going on (full disclosure: I still haven’t read the ficbecause I got ideas and I don’t want to inadvertently absorbsomething that came from someone else until I get my head around themmore firmly).
Ngl, I don’t understand what the puritypolice are so up in arms about over the pairing.  Like, sure, I getwhy they don’t like Kylo (I don’t like Kylo, but he’s still acompelling, textured character and I see a lot of potential in theredemption story/ backstory) and where some of the criticisms arecoming from.  But real talk: the way the stories are set up, they’regoing to end up together.  It might be tragic, but it’s going to beconfirmed as a romance.  I can’t see the franchise building it uplike they did just to be like “nah, they’re not into eachother.”  I mean, maybe it’ll go out on something like “Bendecides to become a sexless Jedi monk to repent for his past whileRey is too busy playing Fagin to a clowder of force-sensitive urchinsand fighting whatever’s left of the First Order to even poop withoutreading Death Star Mark 18 plans and force-projecting to scrape Porgleavings off the hull of the Millennium Falcon while on the shitter,”but they’re going to at least address the feelings clearly beingtelegraphed by both characters.
C - A pairing you havenever liked and probably never will
I mean, Sherlock and Irene just doesn’tdo it for me, but I’ve read a few fics years ago that made me hatethe idea less.  Another pairing I just can’t get into as a seriousthing is MorMor.  I mean, if it’s just crack, I’m a tits-out,anything-goes shipper, but as a for-real thing, I don’t even likeMoran as a character (mostly because I’m hung up on sticking to canonas strictly as possible, and canon Moran is not the guy people ficabout).  Others, in other fandoms: Sam/ Gabriel in Supernatural,Vash/ Meryl in Trigun, Nathan/ Duke in Haven (and Imean, I love reading about two dicks touching, but I never got asexual vibe from those two like I have with some otherstrictly-bromance-on-screen slash pairings), Kurt/ Blaine in Glee (do not get me fucking started; Ryan Murphy is a coward and let his thirst for Darren Criss ruin a different ship that could have been groundbreaking).  I don’t really like MCUanything (except the Thor movies, I liked them a lot andRagnarok made me feel like I was six years old again in thebest way possible), so none of that does anything for me, canon shipsincluded.  There are probably more, but I can’t even remember all the fandoms I’ve read fic for.
Z - Just ramble aboutsomething fan-related, go go go
Switching gears again, I’m reallyenjoying the 13th Doctor.  I stuck it out for a few seriesafter Moffat took over, but I just hated it.  I won’t get into it,but I didn’t even like the Victorian interspecies lesbian detectives, even though I would normally be all over that shit.  It’s Moffat.  Ijust can’t with him when there’s no one around to temper his…him-ness.
But 13.  I like how she’s the virtuouspart of the Doctor, but she also has just a hint of sharpness/abrasiveness (past plain old assertiveness) and I think that’sconsistent with 9 and 10 (don’t know about 11 or 12 because Idisliked 11 so much I never made it to 12).  I like how they’re notplaying up her gender at all.  No cheap laughs, no talk oflimitations, no sudden personality change to make her signal morefeminine.  I love that she’s blunt, but not mean.  She’s not a mom oran older sister or sexualized in any way and it’s just so refreshing. I’m not so into the new look of the TARDIS, but it does give me avery early-80s low-budget scifi vibe, so it’s not 100% terrible (Istill like 9 & 10’s TARDIS the best; I was into the aquaglowiness and organic vineyness of it, like some kind of alien templereclaimed by nature).  And the companions are all interesting (thougha bit one-note, imo, but we’re only a few episodes in and sometimesit’s nice to have someone clearly defined by a few consistent traits, rather than a trainwreckeverything-to-everyone-as-long-as-the-plot-mandates-it character likeMoffat excelled at creating).
So yeah, I’m really happy with the wayit’s turning out.  I had a good feeling about it beforehand, becauseI loved Broadchurch and Torchwood and I was not disappointed with what we got.

10 GIFs of Anime that You Love, Then Tag 10 People
Just got tagged by @chemicalflashes.
Durarara
One of the first few anime I watched. I adored how the intricate stories were intertwined with others; how a bystander in one scene could be a hero or a villain in another. A choice that one makes can easily have devestaring consequences. And of course, the mastermind himself: Orihara Izaya.
Tumblr media
Death Note
Oldie, yes. Overrated, probably. Completely worth watching and still able to discuss a decade after completion? Along with a few movies, musical adaptations, and a live action remake? Oh, yes!
Favorite characters are Near and Misa. The former for his cool nature that resembles L’s, but ultimately serves as a better allegory for Justice because he doesn’t find Kira for fun. No, he captures and probably would have him imprisoned for life because it’s his duty as L’s successor. He’s also heavily under-appreciated by the fandom. The latter for her adaptability and unpredictability in situations. Did you guys watch the Yorsuba arc? The girl was calculating how cute she was going to be. Plus, she’s not mentally well (her parents were murdered in front of her), but she still managed to handle herself SO WELL during her time as a prisoner under L’s inhuman methods to seek out the Second Kira. Again, she’s under-appreciated.
Tumblr media
Death Parade
Brilliant idea. Has a possible tie in to Death Note. The opening was laughably so misleading!
There are some flaws, like plot holes and unfinished storylines, but it held up pretty well. We learned about the characters through how they interact with one another—especially when put under pressure. The Arbiters are amazing in that they can’t question the system, and yet, in the end, Decim tries to understand and formulate how Chiyuki is going to be finally put to rest.
If nothing else, just watch for the skating scene and the opening sequence.
Tumblr media
Cells at Work (Hataraku Saibou)
How could I not add this show??? I’m not that great science, but I have been intimately acquainted with how the body works (I’m frankly disappointed no one has called 1146 a granulocyte yet and we haven’t seen any neurons in the manga 😞). Also...3803 is basically me: I’m terrible at directions, I’m continuously learning new things because I moved away, and the way she met 1146...is kind of how I met my best friend, hehehe.
That said, I’m really in love with this anime/manga fandom and hope to continue writing for it. (Insert self promotion: please read my fanfics on my main platform which is ffnet!)
Another reason why I love CAW...
The neutrophil squad.
...and wbc x rbc...and by that, I mean any or all of those wbc squad can get paired with 3803. Because I have a soft spot for reverse harems. *cough Ouran High School Host Club*

Hetalia: Axis Powers
This show made me love geography and my country so much. It’s funny, it’s hilarious, and it’s so heartwarming how the fandom likes to make all sorts of fanmade stuff to expand on what Hima-papa gives us. (YES, IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 2018, I SHALL REFER TO HIMARYU-SENSEI AS HIMA-PAPA. FIGHT ME.)
Is Hetalia dead? I don’t know, but the fandom and one particular FanFiction by @cultureandseptember really helped me out a few years back.
Tumblr media
Bungou Stray Dogs
I love literature, good looking animation, and smarmy little know-it-alls who like to play the fool. Hehehe, I’m planning on reading No Longer Human when I get the time. Does that mean Osamu Dazai is my favorite character? Well...
Can you blame me if I said yes? He’s so charming and enigmatic that you can’t help but love him. However, I think I really love him because I struggle with dark thoughts and suicidal ideation from time to time. I haven’t actively sought it out quite like he has in the past, but well... hehehe! I can also relate because he’s kind of like an outsider in the Agency due to his past—he’s different because he can’t actively cancel out your abilities, which always makes him a threat.
Anywhoozles, I’m still waiting to see the movie...Le sigh.
Tumblr media
K Project
This. This is not the best anime out there. Seriously.
The animation gets wonky here and there, they do the women in here a huge disservice, and they put too much emphasis on how great Mikoto Suoh. Like, he’s great and all, but the dude has no effect on the story except for the last season.
With that said, I think the main selling point here isn’t the anime, but the side materials like the manga/novels. You get to appreciate the backstories of so many of the characters and you get to feel for them because some of them have suffered so much! (Read: Fushimi Saruhiko).
I think you can get the same amount of enjoyment if you stick to the novels/manga.
Favorite characters: Scepter 4 Alphabet Squad. They are the best boys. Also, Lieutenant Awashima Seri. And Fushimi Saruhiko. You know what? Just put down Blue Clan here. They’re all nerds and they enjoy it.
Also: Domyoiji Andy reminds me of U-4989 from CAW. So...
Tumblr media
Violet Evergarden
Remember how I said that I liked literature? This entire anime is about the power of not only the written word, but of also the act of writing, sending, and receiving those words. The anime may be episodic in nature, but you can really connect with the character through her terrible backstory and really feel for her when she realizes that she needs to face her past. PTSD is real and I think the anime really handled the post war aspect of this torn down world really well.
I’m also a sucker for typewriters, steam punk, and characters that don’t really know how to function in society (but learn over the course of the story).
Watch this if you want feels...and get ready for episode ten.
Tumblr media
Samurai Champloo
This takes place in feudal era Japan.
But there’s rapping.
And breakdancing.
And guys spraying paint everywhere.
Also, there’s a sunflower samurai we gotta look for???
Hahahah, while episodic in nature, this was a joy to watch. You never get to know the characters really well and when we reach our mission’s end, it seems to fall short, but it’s not about that. The journey is what makes this anime worth it simply because the characters interactions are rife with hilarity and all three mains balance each other out. There’s a fanfic out there that describes them in detail, but in a succinct manner that had me melting. (https://m.fanfiction.net/s/2351750/1/The-Order-of-Things) check it out when you have the time.
Anyway, for those of you who have watched it, I sincerely hope that they meet again in the future.
(But, let’s be real. They probably didn’t).
Tumblr media
Tokyo Mew Mew
Guys.
This isn’t a joke.
I have a soft spot for this anime because this was my first ever anime I watched where I realized that this was anime. This was like my gateway anime. Not Sailor Moon. Not Naruto.
This.
Looking back on this, it wasn’t the best—it’s your typical monster of the week deal with some environmental activism involved but for what it’s worth...it’s good??? Like, even the 4Kids dub (DONT CRUCIFY ME) even added some songs that were really great??? Bree Sharp’s Don’t Wake Me Up was my jam??? It fit better than the original Japanese counterpart???
TMM also introduced me to shipping, FanFiction, and amvs. That’s right, without this little gem, I would be writing/writing/thinking about FanFiction. I probably wouldn’t have been an anime watcher without this magical girl anime from the early 2000s.
So, yeah. This anime will always have a place in my heart because without it, I probably wouldn’t have become the person I am today. Thank you, Tokyo Mew Mew.
(This was also the birth of my first OTP before I knew what OTPs were: Kisshu/Ichigo...although nowadays, people are calling them Quiche/Strawberry? Hehehe, there’s so many things wrong here, I only like interactions, not the implications. That’s why I’m completely okay with Aoyama/Ichigo being endgame—and they’re actually really cute in the sequel manga???)
Tumblr media
Honorable mentions (because I only thought of these now after I wrote analyses and gifs):
Five Centimeters Per Second
Ouran High School Host Club
Kimi no Nawa
Wolf Children
Psycho Pass
Trigun
(There’s like a dozen more, but nah. I’m good).
Aaaaaaaaaand that’s a wrap!!!
I’m tagging everyone who reads this! MWUAJAHAHAH!
I’m kidding; I don’t have that many friends here (if any) who are into anime so, umm...try it!
Thanks to @chemicalflashes for this amazing opportunity to find out why I love anime so much!

10 anime staples integral to anime
Ignoring Buzzfeed’s focus on whatever’s popular right now; I decided to throw together a list of 10 anime that, regardless of anything, are shows considered mandatory if you are someone who watches anime.
Even at my old job, it seemed the only thing people had any focus or knowledge of was what had come out in the last 3 - 5 years. And ignoring my feelings about modern anime, this is not an accurate reflection of anything to do with the medium. And if you tried to discuss “anime” as a topic, you’ll find yourself very quickly being completely out of touch with other people who watch anime. Unless you ONLY focus on a specific fandom for one specific show.
But Some anime ARE staples of the medium. And regardless of personal taste, animation quality,  how dated they might be now or popularity, some anime remain staples. And if you’re someone whose “Never Seen Anime” like the Buzzfeed article would like to suggest, you’ve got a much better chance looking to the titles that make up the foundation of the anime “fandom” than looking at whatever came out in the last 5 years or what’s trending on twitter or whatever the kids are into these days;
I chose these based on this. Not on my personal taste, or even popularity. But purely on their presence in the anime realm as a whole. I’ll even admit I might not even like all of these... But they remain staples. And even if you don’t sit down and watch them, you are required by anime law to at least know OF them.
1: Akira (1988)
The big one. EVERYONE knows about Akira. People who don’t know anything about anime know about Akira. People who don’t know about Akira have SEEN images and iconography from Akira.
Heck I don’t even like Akira that much. I don’t even think it’s that well adapted into a movie.
But I have seen Akira.
EVERYONE has seen Akira.
Tumblr media
2: Cowboy Bebop (1998)
Almost always in the top 3 of people’s “top 10 favourite anime” lists, if not number 1. But Cowboy Bebop is not merely a “popular” anime. Often cited as being better dubbed than in its original sub, Cowboy Bebop is a medley of different genres, mostly inspired by Westerns, Gangster movies, as well as Jazz and Blues. Cowboy bebop is an anime anyone can access, even if they have little to no exposure to anime. Cowboy Bebop is very very easy as a starting point. But also has some of the most three dimensional flawed characters you’ll find in anime if not most television. Cowboy bebop succeeds because of its humanity.
Tumblr media
3: Trigun (1998)
Often coming hand in hand with Cowboy Bebop if for no other reason than the fact that they premiered in the same year and both share a strong influence by Westerns. Trigun might not have the gut-punch existentialism of Cowboy Bebop, but is still considered one of the best animes released. A weird mix of Westerns, Mad max and sci fi, Trigun succeeds based entirely on its main character, Vash. Trigun as a show is more than anything a character study, as well as being a commentary on just how hard it can be to be a pacifist and how much courage it takes NOT to shoot, rather than glorify violence, and equate “bad ass” with killing.
Tumblr media
4: Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995)
*siiiiiiiiiiigh* Ok... So here’s the thing;
Eva is the black hole of anime. There is no escaping Eva. For better or worse, Eva is an all encompassing cloud over all of anime. And pretty much was the second it aired on Japanese TV. What started as a “giant robot” anime that explores how much being in a giant robot can mess up a kid (not new to Eva, in fact this is pretty much the basis for the first Gundam anime) but quickly devolved into a monster of a show. Its creator... well.... kinda lost his mind as the show went on. And it showed... it showed HARD.
The show went from a dark giant robot anime into an existential nightmare, exploring doomed characters in an apocalyptic situation as humanity slowly tumbled towards its destruction. Mixed with the main character, a truly hateful person who was written specifically to BE hateful, and his broken psychosis, the trauma of puberty, deep and inescapable depression, and his reaction to the people around, all of who also are written to be unlikable at least to a point if not completely detestable.
And then on TOP of this, Gainax (the studio) decided to use Christian visuals to give the anime a “stylistic edge” among the rest of anime being released at the time. Not considering the implications the Christian iconography would have for the western audience once it released overseas.
It reached a boiling point climax with the last two episodes in the series taking place entirely in the main character’s mind. This causing many insane fans of the show to send the director death threats for “disappointing” them. And then LATER causing an entire movie to be made called “the end of Evangelion” which was the ACTUAL end of the story... And now there’s like new movies being released as well to this very day and I have no idea how they even fit into this whole mess?
But Eva is a neutron star, collapsing in on itself. And it doesn’t matter if you love Eva, hate Eva, or are completely indifferent to it. There is no escaping Eva.
It changed anime forever. And there’s nothing that can be done about that.
Tumblr media
5: Mobile Suit Gundam... like.... ANY Gundam. (1979 - current)
I can’t remember where I heard it, but someone once described the level of impact Gundam has and the level of fantacism from its fans as being the Japanese equivalent to Star Trek. And really that’s the best way to describe it. Starting in 1979, Gundam took the “Giant Robot” concept and instead turned it into an allegory for War. Gundam, regardless of which series you watch/read is always a mix of Shakespearean drama and the horror of war.
Hell, This is a... THING so important to Japanese culture that the country decided to build a LIFE SIZE replica of one. Part of Japan’s Self Defense forces are codenamed “Gundam”!
Probably a little difficult to approach as a westerner, but one should at least be AWARE of Gundam if nothing else.
Tumblr media
6: Fullmetal Alchemist (2003) or Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (2009)
In my mind FMA is still a “recent anime”, but seeing it actually aired in 2003, I guess I can’t make that statement any more. FMA is a series that, despite being insanely popular when it first came out, only started gaining traction as a real “Classic” within the medium after its second adaptation “brotherhood” probably finished. I’ve heard many people say Brotherhood is better, but having only seen the original, I can tell you if Brotherhood is better it’s probably one of the best damn anime ever made since FMA on its own was already no small contender.
I can probably blame this show as the start of my ongoing existential crises when I first watched it around 2004 or so.
A difficult one to pin down compared to the others. I think FMA has such lasting power because it’s a mix of a unique setting and ideas, has extremely strong world building, has a lot of political intrigue, but at the end of the day, just like Cowboy Bebop and Trigun, it’s its characters that keep it strong. Whether it’s the brotherly ties between Edward and Alphonse, or their relationships with the characters around them, or their loss and ways in which they’re prisoners to their past, or its the sheer weight of the drama, both personal and on a worldwide level that they go through. Something about FMA’s characters elevates it so far above so many anime, as well as its absolutely perfect story progression. I remember this is the first time I watched a show where, in the second or third act, I remember longing for the earlier episodes... where the characters were happier and life seemed so much simpler.
Whereas a few years ago I’d still be calling all this “popularity”... it’s getting to the point now where its long lasting impact can’t be ignored, and it deserves being recognised as a medium classic, rather than just “really popular”.
Tumblr media
7: Visions of Escaflowne (1996)
A weird one this. Visions of Escaflowne is a show that doesn’t come up in conversation as much as the others, but if you talk to anyone who’s more serious about their anime, they’ll be aware of it and know of it among the “classics”. Escaflowne is very similar to the shows above in that it mixes genres. It’s a “giant robot” anime, however it is unique in being a giant robot anime that takes place in a fantasy setting. A setting one would more associate with mages and dragons, Escaflowne has those.... and then also giant robots. A mix of a much more western idea of fantasy, political drama, as well as a coming-of-age love story (with giant robots) and a fish-out-of-water story as our main character is a girl from contemporary Japan, caught up in this fantasy world’s politics.
Escaflowne was originally planned and written to be 39 episodes, but after a very difficult production time, it ended up being only 26 due to budget reasons. As a result however, there is VERY little time wasted in the show. Probably the only anime in existence where there literally was not a single second for any kind of “filler” because it had to condense its plot into the shorter frame. As a result, the show focuses only on the very most important points of its story, and its characters. No moment is wasted or feels like it’s just there for no real reason.
It’s a story that never puts on the brakes, because it simply cannot afford to. And for a show supposedly cut down due to budget... it damn well doesn’t LOOK like it’s got a small budget. damn.
Tumblr media
8: Ghost in the Shell (1995)
Another Big One.
Ghost in the Shell can probably be contributed as being one of the major forces that made the West take more notice of anime. Anime had been slowly creeping to the west since the 80s with VHS becoming more widespread, but Ghost in the Shell marked a point where people started realising there was more to Japan’s animation than “violent Porn Cartoons”. Although still not main stream, Ghost in the Shell was at least a major factor in making people realise that Anime had some serious weight to it.
I tend to describe Ghost in the Shell as more of an essay than a “movie”. Although it has a “plot”, the movie’s main focus is in exploring our main character, a cyborg called Major Motoko Kusanagi, and her struggle trying to grasp her own humanity. Or what is left of it. Being in a completely artificial body with only her brain surviving as her “human” part. The movie is primarily interested in her questions of whether or not she’s still human, and where exactly does the line for “human” begin and end.
Accompanied by a haunting musical score, often including traditional japanese religious chants, and Mamoru Oshii’s atmospheric direction, it’s gone on to be a major influence on most modern sci fi, as it itself was influenced very much by Blade Runner and continues with the themes set up by the Ridley Scott film.
Tumblr media
9: Rurouni Kenshin (aka Samurai X) (1996)
Rurouni Kenshin has more in common with live action Japanese cinema than it does anime... to a point at least. Kenshin is, at its heart, a chanbara. That is, an anime (or film more typically) focusing on samurai in historical Japan. Kenshin however, has no interest in being 100% historical accurate, as a lot of its characters are inspired by arcade fighting games.
Also noteable, despite being a chanbara, Kenshin’s time setting is not the Edo period, but instead the Meiji period (roughly around 1868) a period of time where Samurai were starting to die out as Japan slowly opened its doors to the west and western development. During this period it was illegal for anyone apart from Police to carry swords any more, and the story takes place a few years after what is historically known as the Bakumatsu. A short but violent civil war marking the end of the Edo period and the beginning of the Meiji, where the Shogunate ended and the country returned to Imperial rule. A setting which is important not only for its world building but also for our main characters.
A mix of historical drama, and typical “shounen” beat the bad guy, a love story, a tragedy, a comedy and a lament for a time now lost, The Kenshin manga has not only been the source for the anime, but also 2 animated motion pictures, 2 OVAs, 2 live action movies (with a third I believe still coming), several stage plays, light novels as well as 5 video games.
Also the orchestral soundtrack (that is not the jpop used for the intros) is some of the best damn music television anime has ever had.
Also seriously this...
Tumblr media
And this....
Tumblr media
Are from the same story.
How am I suppose to find a single gif that can encapture all of the emotions in this show from the ridiculously silly to the soul crushing heartbreak???
Tumblr media
10: Tenchi Muyo! (1995)
Tenchi Muyo is a weird one. Because Tenchi Muyo started out as an OVA, and even as an OVA its first episode is completely and utterly different from its last episode. Characters’ personalities in episode 1 seem completely different to every other episode. That’s because they were basically writing this show as they went along. And yet, through sheer grace of its characters and its setup, Tenchi Muyo is not only a staple of anime today, but has a hardcore fanbase and countless adaptations into other anime series, OVAs, light novels, Video Games, Audio Dramas, movies and manga.
So what is it? Well, technically, as in TECHNICALLY it’s a harem anime. A harem anime is typically about a single “everyman” male main character who finds himself living together with several female characters through weird circumstances. Usually its typified that there’s a chance that ANY of the female characters will end up with the main boy character, but there’s usually also a “main” girl character who the audience more or less knows he’ll end up with. It’s kinda a weird cousin of the dating sim video game genre I guess.
But so what? Why is Tenchi so special then? Well... mainly because its female cast are all fucking nuts, and ALL of them are amazing characters with really strong personalities, backs stories and agendas. Also they’re all aliens.
You have a Space Pirate queen, an alien princess and her little sister, a mad scientist, 2 police-women set to CAPTURE the space pirate queen, a literal Goddess, and a weird cat-rabbit creature.
Also, this isn’t some domestic “let’s all be perfect wives for our man” anime. The characters are constantly attacked by aliens trying to achieve one thing or another and there’s usually a lot of fighting and stuff.
....
The literal Translation of the title is “No Need for Tenchi.”
And really I couldn’t have put it any better myself.
Tenchi Muyo is also considered a staple since it was one of the first anime to play on Cartoon Network’s “Toonami” back in the day, and therefore was a lot of people’s introduction to anime as a whole.
Tumblr media
Honorable mention to FLCL (2003)
Tumblr media
OTHER MENTIONS:
Dragon Ball, Serial Experiments Lain, Berserk, Hellsing, Perfect Blue, Chobits, Sailor Moon, Card Captor Sakura, Anything and Everything with Captain Harlock in it, Lupin the Third, Death Note, Ranma 1 1/2

Note
hey buddy i dont care how neutral you're trying to be about ships (when you clearly prefer het but that's neither here nor there) but dont tag vashwood if you're just gonna talk about how it isn't really your thing. there's not much content for trigun to go around and it's really disappointing to see something new in the ship tag is just this blog
I think there’s been a misunderstanding, anon. I’ve been tagging my posts “VashWood,” because I’m trying to gauge interest from VashWood fanart from shippers as well. I get the sense from your response that there’s not enough VashWood content to go around. I’m sitting on a mountain of well drawn VashWood content, but I’m new to the Trigun Tumblr fandom, so I’m trying to gauge interest.
Perhaps I should go back and tag my initial request for VashWood interest feedback (if I already haven’t.)
The upshot is that I have no idea how sensitive the fandom is about the ship. I’m not neutral but “prefer het” ships: I’m simply not invested in any Trigun ship in general.
When I do get emotionally invested in the ship, sexual orientation doesn’t factor into it. I only care about ships in animanga that are explicitly stated as being romances or concerned with exploring sexuality/romance as central themes (Kara no Kyoukai, No.6, Rebuild of Evangelion 3.33: You Can (Not) Redo, Rurouni Kenshin, Yuri!!! on Ice, the Monogatari series, etc.)
Works like Trigun with “shippable” characters exist in a different planetary orbit. As such, I genuinely don’t care about the romantic subplots.
In any case, this bisexual woman of color married to a nonbinary white male who gave up the only child she’ll ever have as a result of rape up for an open adoption to a homosexual male couple will count this condescending submission as a vote for more VashWood fanart from pixiv.
Thank you and goodnight, “buddy.”
