Outkast’s Big Boi, EDM artist Zedd, U.K. band Nothing But Thieves, Norwegian artist Aurora, rapper Hanumankind, guitarist-composer Cory Wong will perform in Mumbai on March 8 and 9, 2025
Anurag Tagat Sep 10, 2024
American punk-rock heroes Green Day, pop artist Shawn Mendes, U.K. hitmakers Glass Animals and singer-songwriter Louis Tomlinson are among top-billed acts making their India debut at Lollapalooza India 2025 in Mumbai, between March 8 and 9.
The lineup for the third edition of Lollapalooza India also includes rap veteran Big Boi from Outkast, U.K. band Nothing But Thieves, Norwegian pop artist Aurora, electronic artists like Zedd, John Summit and Alok, American guitarist-composer Cory Wong (known for his work with acts like Vulfpeck), breakout rapper Hanumankind (also our latest cover star), South Korean indie rock band Wave To Earth and rising pop artists Isabel LaRosa and more. Folk-indie singer-songwriter duo Lullanas – comprising Indian-origin siblings – will also make their India debut at Lollapalooza India 2025.
More Indian artists adding heft to the lineup include singer-songwriter Dot., rappers Raftaar and KR$NA, Punjabi artist Talwiinder, sitarist and fusion artist Niladri Kumar, pop artist Lisa Mishra, rock artist Raman Negi, Ahmedabad rap favorite Dhanji, producer Spryk, pianist-composer Sahil Vasudeva, DJ-producer Anushka, multi-instrumentalist-producer Sid Vashi, singer-songwriter Raghav Meattle and indie multi-instrumentalist/producer Sudan.
The announcement in September makes for meme-friendly news for Green Day, known for songs like “Wake Me Up When September Ends.” The band announced their India debut on Instagram and said, “Another first for us!! India, you’ve been calling our name… and it’s finally time to answer. We’ll see you in Mumbai next March for @LollaIndia.” The trio comprising Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool released their most recent album Saviors in 2024 and will likely dig into all-time hits like “Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life),” “American Idiot,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and more. Shawn Mendes, known for hits “In My Blood,” “Treat You Better” and new single “Why Why Why,” returns to the live stage after more than two years on his current tour, which includes Lollapalooza India.
Louis Tomlinson, who has a big following in India following his time with pop group One Direction, will also make a long-awaited India debut. Fellow Brits Glass Animals are a big draw on the back of releasing their new album I Love You So F***ing Much in July, but primarily due to their 2020 hit “Heat Waves,” which was the seventh-most streamed song in India on Spotify in 2022.
Glass Animals founder Dave Bayley – who visited India as a 16-year-old – told Rolling Stone India in 2020, “Thank you for the support, I hope you are staying safe and healthy. We can’t wait to come and visit.”
In a wholly new strategy, Lollapalooza India’s 2025 lineup is out six months in advance of the multi-genre festival taking place in March. BookMyShow Live also took a similar approach while announcing the lineup for their festival Bandland, which is taking place on Nov. 23 and 24 in Bengaluru.

Billboard USA Exclusion Zone Episode 9 (04/22/2023)
Hello there and welcome to my weekly show where I look at the new debuts from the Billboard Global Excluding US chart. Yes I didn't do this last week. Part of it because I had final thesis to revise. But also I didn't feel it with most of the debuts and the less I said about Melanie Martinez...the better.
Anyways this week is definitely more interesting than last week because we have three j-pop songs and one of them came from the most hyped anime this season Oshi no Ko. We also have some k-pop too and even some surprises. Let's do this.
-----------------------------------------------------
16. "People Pt. 2" by Agust D ft. IU
Another day, another new solo song from a BTS member. Now we get Agust D who usually do the rap portion of a lot of BTS songs with this being another rap song. This reminded me of early 2010's rap song where you have a singer doing the hook and it just reminded me that Airplanes is now could be considered as retro...next.
23. "Search & Rescue" by Drake
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz (this is shit)
30. "I AM" by IVE
I love a lot of IVE songs and I will say that After Like has the best obvious sampling last year. Which is why it's kinda disappointing that this didn't clicked with me as much as it did. The production is tiring and it's basically "I'm back bitch" singles.
80. "Un Finde Crossover #2" by Ke personajes X Big One X FMK
I was vibing to this...then the farty synth and the laser beam sound appeared.
83. "Baby Don't Hurt Me" by David Guetta, Anne-Marie & Coi Leray
This is just sad now. Like I think this song that made me realized that maybe AI music isn't so bad after all when anything David Guetta made in 2022-23 sounds like AI generated mush.
102. "Mera Na" by Sidhu Moose Wala, Burna Boy & Steel Banglez
First and foremose Rest In Peace Sidhu Moose Wala. Secondly this song is just a well produced Punjabi rap and the addition of Burna Boy here is needed.
135. "Idol" by Yoasobi
And here it is. The song that might be the center piece of Oshi no Ko. Anime series based on critically acclaimed manga made by the same guy that did Kaguya-sama. Now even though I haven't watched the anime, I have been spoiled by the manga and well the reason why I swelled up while listening to the song while reading the lyrics...yeah this song is something special.
141. "Kizuna no Kiseki" by MAN WITH A MISSION x milet
Oh hi it's another Demon Slayer song but tbh might be the worst one imo. Yeah this song is great but it's typical for shounen anime to have banger OP at this point and nothing could beat Gurenge.
146. "Never Felt So Alone" by Labrinth (uncredited: Billie Eilish)
One of my favorite content creators Spectrum Pulse coined a term "Riverdale-core" to describe songs with bombast but no substance tackling social issues but with the gaudiness of a vaudville villain. Well for this song I wanna coined a term "Euphoria-core" which is lowkey mostly RnB song with strings and mechanical production.
154. "Zero" by NewJeans
Now I am interested what NewJeans will follow up after the big success of Ditto and OMG. And seems like they are making...a drum and bass song about Coke Zero....okay then.
162. "Chanel" by Becky G & Peso Pluma
Now we will see more impact next week, but what a year it is for Mexican music. Seems like the sound of the trumpet plus that bassline is caught on (tbh idk what to say at this point like after listening to Idol with subs on I'm a jsdhjkdsh)
178. "LADY" by Kenshi Yonezu
WHY IS THERE TWO COKE COMMERCIAL SONGS???
I highly recommend everyone to listen to these songs.

His soulful voice, emotive acting, and visionary approach to art have not only won him millions of fans but also made him a cultural ambassador of Punjabi traditions. This article explores his incredible journey, highlighting the key milestones that have shaped his illustrious career.
Humble Beginnings: The Roots of Greatness
Amrinder Singh Gill was born on May 11, 1976, in Boorchand, Amritsar, Punjab, into a simple family. Unlike many stars who are born into privilege, Amrinder’s journey started in a small village where he was exposed to the rich cultural heritage of Punjab. His early life was marked by a love for traditional music and folk tales, which later became a cornerstone of his artistry.
During his school and college days, Amrinder developed a passion for performing arts, particularly Bhangra. He actively participated in cultural events and was a member of his college’s Bhangra team. Little did he know that these early performances were laying the foundation for a career in entertainment. After completing his Master’s degree in Agriculture Science from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Amrinder initially worked as a manager in a cooperative bank — a stark contrast to the glitz and glamour of his future profession.
The Leap into Music: A Star is Born
Amrinder’s entry into the world of music was not planned but serendipitous. His debut album, “Apni Jaan Ke” (2000), was a modest beginning, but it was enough to showcase his potential as a singer. The album featured tracks like “Ishq Ho Gaya” and “Ki Kariye,” which resonated with audiences, marking the start of his musical journey.
The turning point came with the release of his album “Dildarian” in 2005, which catapulted him into the limelight. The album’s success was followed by a string of hits, including “Mel Karade Rabba”, “Madhaania”, and “Judaa” — a landmark album that earned him the Brit Asia Music Award for Best Album in 2012. Amrinder’s ability to blend traditional Punjabi music with contemporary sounds has made his songs timeless.
Venturing into Cinema: A Multi-Talented Artist
While Amrinder was gaining fame as a singer, he was also drawn to acting. He made his acting debut with a supporting role in the Punjabi film “Munde UK De” (2009), alongside stars like Jimmy Shergill and Neeru Bajwa. Though it was a minor role, his performance was well-received, encouraging him to pursue acting more seriously.
His first lead role came in the film “Ik Kudi Punjab Di” (2010), where he proved his mettle as an actor. Over the years, Amrinder starred in critically acclaimed films like “Angrej” (2015), “Love Punjab” (2016), “Lahoriye” (2017), and “Ashke” (2018). These films not only showcased his versatility but also brought Punjabi cinema to new heights. His roles often reflect Punjabi values, traditions, and contemporary issues, making his characters relatable to audiences across generations.
In 2022, Amrinder took a significant step by directing “Chhalla Mud Ke Nahi Aaya,” a historical drama that received widespread acclaim. This marked a new chapter in his career, proving his versatility as a storyteller.
The Visionary Behind Rhythm Boyz Entertainment
Amrinder’s creative vision extends beyond singing and acting. Along with his longtime collaborator Karaj Gill, he co-founded Rhythm Boyz Entertainment, a production house that has been instrumental in shaping the modern landscape of Punjabi cinema. Under this banner, he has produced several successful films, giving opportunities to new talent and promoting high-quality storytelling.
The success of Rhythm Boyz films like “Goreyan Nu Daffa Karo”, “Angrej”, and “Love Punjab” reflects Amrinder’s commitment to elevating Punjabi cinema. His work has inspired a new generation of filmmakers and actors to pursue excellence in storytelling.
Cultural Impact: A Global Ambassador for Punjab
Amrinder Gill’s contributions go beyond music and cinema. He has played a pivotal role in taking Punjabi culture to global audiences. Through his international concerts and film releases, he has introduced the world to the richness of Punjabi traditions, language, and art.
His music often carries themes of love, nostalgia, and cultural pride, resonating with Punjabi communities across the globe. Songs like “Paigam”, “Mera Deewanapan”, and “Daru” are not just melodies but also reflections of Punjab’s vibrant ethos.
The Secret to Success: Authenticity and Versatility
What sets Amrinder Gill apart from his contemporaries is his authenticity. Whether it’s his music, acting, or production ventures, everything he does exudes sincerity and a deep respect for his roots. His ability to evolve with time while staying true to his cultural identity is a hallmark of his career.
Conclusion: An Icon for the Ages

Annual function 2022
Date - 3rd December, 2022
Every year, our school hosts an annual function, which is a huge event that takes place during the winter times. Students come together to deliver strong speeches and performances that are not only hype-worthy, but also exciting. During Covid, the annual function was not possible due to the fact that our only connection with school was through Zoom. This year 2022 would be our first annual function in 2 years, so we as students, and even the teachers knew how important it was to come back with a blast. It was taken so seriously that our senior Bhangra team member, a senior, was replaced with a professional Bhangra academy, Folk Punjabi Bhangra academy for the Bhangra performance I was included in. The annual function was on December 3rd, and we only had a month to prepare. We spent the first two weeks ONLY deciding songs. We had less than 15 days until the performance and we still couldn’t find any songs- it was the most stressful thing ever. At first our senior Bhangra team member was teaching us, and since this bhangra was a bit more traditional than the tiktok-inspired Bhangra choreographies I was used to, naturally I made many mistakes and everyone else stressed out the leader to the point she had a break down. Luckily, her burden was taken over by a renowned Bhangra academy, Folk Punjabi Bhangra academy. Though we had changed all of our already-decided songs, we managed to practice much better, and I corrected my mistakes and eventually became professional in accordance to the choreography. Through the challenge of having muscle cramps and wardrobe malfunctions on the annual function day, we managed to pull off an unique performance. It was truly one of my favorite days ever, not only due to the immense fun I had while performing but I also met Kulraj!!
