Marvel Studios has reshuffled the release dates for its slate of television shows.
What If…? Echo, and Agatha: Coven of Chaos, now titled Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, are among the titles receiving new dates. The move comes amid Hollywood’s strikes as well as a general pullback at Disney+.
The writers strike began May 2 while the actors went on strike July 14, significantly impacting production and development. At the same time, sources say Marvel wants to focus its efforts to make each title an event for fans and audiences. The studio has decided that spreading out its content is a more prudent strategy.
It’s a far cry from last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, when Marvel unveiled plans for Phase 5 and Phase 6 of its movies and television shows. 2023 particularly heavy with shows, with five planned. (Only the springs Secret Invasion, October’s Loki and as The Hollywood Reporter can reveal, What If…? season two remain of that plan for this year.)
THR poked around the Marvel scheduling changes and here’s what sources say is the new rundown:
As previously announced, Loki season two will be the only show to hit this fall, debuting on Disney+ on Oct. 6. Despite what some call superhero fatigue, expectations remain high for the Tom Hiddleston-Owen Wilson-fronted series that centers on alternate timelines. The season two trailer had the biggest digital debut of a trailer for any Disney+ series, and season one remains the most-watched Marvel series on Disney+.
The second season of Emmy-winning animated series What If…? will debut around Christmas Day, although it should be noted the animated show is not a holiday-themed series. Like the namesake comic on which its premise is based, What If…? is an anthology series that looks at key moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how they would look in different timelines. Jeffrey Wright returns as the voice of the Watcher, the alien narrator. What If…? was originally slated for an early 2023 release.
Echo, a spin-off from last year’s hit Hawkeye, was originally announced for Nov. 29 but has now shifted to January 2024. The series stars Alaqua Cox as a one-time head of a criminal organization who returns to her hometown in Oklahoma to come to terms with her past. The series, which centers on a character who is deaf and of Native American descent, is described as having a grittier and more grounded tone than some of the other Marvel series and will feature appearances by Daredevil and villain The Kingpin. As previously announced, all the episodes will drop at the same time.
Next on the schedule will be X-Men ’97, the animated series that acts as a spiritual and tonal continuation of the classic 1990s series that aired on Fox. The series, first announced in 2021, was originally planned for a fall 2023 debut but will now premiere in early 2024 The show is being described, by sources who have seen it, as retro and a love letter to the original. A season two remains in the works.
Agatha, the WandaVision spinoff starring Kathryn Hahn, was originally announced for a winter 2023 release has been pushed back to early fall 2024, where it will serve as a lead-up to the Halloween holiday. The show, which completed its filming before the strikes, was previously titled Agatha: House of Harkness and then Agatha: Coven of Chaos before falling on its currently name, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.
Ironheart, a show focused on genius-inventor Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) first introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, was to have dropped this fall but that is now off the schedule. It finished shooting but its completion is affected by the strikes.
Daredevil: Born Again, a continuation of the Netflix series in the MCU, was expected to debut in spring 2024, paused in mid-production amid the strikes. Wonder Man, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, was also paused in mid-production.
It is unclear where on the calendar the three series will end up.

End of the Year Writing Challenge: Requests open!
Hello! We’re approaching the end of 2024 and in honour of it I’ve decided to open up prompts/requests! I will accept at least 24 and will post them in the order I finish them. Now, if you’ve been around you know I’m very bad at sticking to the deadlines I set so I will not make any promises all of the stories will actually be up by the end of the year – I'll try my best though!
• Previous rules/guidance regarding requests from here apply
• Updated fandom list under the cut but once again you can ask if I would be willing to write for a fandom not listed
• I’ve compiled a list of 50 prompts below, you are free to either choose from them (feel free to change them) or send me something else
• I will cross out a prompt if I already got it in my inbox, and add any non-listed prompts I get to the list (to help myself keep track). In case there’s doubles in my inbox I’ll ask the second person who sent the prompt to send me another
• you're free to send in as many as you want - just give others a chance to participate too 😉
Prompts and fandomlist under the cut
This prompt list is combined from prompts I've gathered around the internet and some I came up with. If you see a prompt from someone else's list it's possible I've taken it from that. All credits for these prompts goes to those who originally came up with them!

Stuff I'm Looking Forward to in February
Can't believe we're now into the middle of the first quarter of 2024. In addition to Black History Month (2/1-2/29), Groundhog Day (2/2), Lunar New Year (2/10), Valentine's Day (2/14), Ash Wednesday (2/14), Presidents' Day (2/19), and Leap Day (2/20) here is what's on my radar this month:
Movies:
Orion and the Dark
What got my attention about this animated feature is that it is written by Charlie Kaufman. Yes - the writer of Being John Malkovich and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind wrote this! Premieres on Netflix on 2/2.
Lisa Frankenstein
This horror comedy from director Zelda Williams (yes - the daughter of a legend) and writer Diablo Cody looks promising. Opens 2/9 (review to come).
Madame Web
The newest entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe is also the next installment of the Spider-Man Universe as this gets into multiple Spider-Women and they filmed in Boston too. Color me curious! Opens 2/14.
Kiss the Future
During the Zoo TV Tour in 1993, U2 shined a light on the crisis in Sarajevo in an effort to support the besieged Sarajevans. This documentary about their efforts was produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. After playing festivals last year, it is being released exclusively by AMC Theaters on 2/19.
Drive-Away Dolls
I was a huge fan of the Coen brothers, but after The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, they began working solo. After Joel Coen’s The Tragedy of Macbeth, I’m excited to see Ethan Coen’s solo feature, an action comedy about inept criminals, which is his wheelhouse. I first was looking forward to this in September 2023 and I still am. Opening 2/23.
Music:
Paul McCartney & Wings Band on the Run 50th Anniversary Edition
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Paul McCartney's greatest non-Beatles album, a new special edition is being released. The timing happens to be a few weeks after the passing of Wings guitarist Denny Laine as well. Re-release drops on 2/2.
J. Mascis What Do We Do Now
In addition to Dinosaur Jr., J. Mascis has done some great solo work. His last solo album Elastic Days had some bangers and I was lucky enough to see him do a live solo show in 2019. Looking forward to his newest solo album, which drops 2/2.
TV:
Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 12 premiere
The 12th season of one of the most brilliant TV comedies of all time is going to be the final season (or so they say). Even though it's only at season 12, each season has been spaced out over the past 24 years. I named Season 11 my Best TV Show of 2021. Hopes are high for Larry David's social assassin going out on a high note! Season premiere on 2/4 on HBO.
Awards Season:
We're in the midst of awards season now! This month we have Grammy Awards (2/4), DGA Awards (2/10), SAG Awards (2/24), and Independent Spirit Awards (2/25). Not exactly an awards show, but the biggest competition of the year is the Super Bowl (2/11) as well.
#stuff i'm looking forward to#orion and the dark#charlie kaufman#lisa frankenstein#zelda williams#madame web#drive away dolls#ethan coen#paul mccartney#wings#j. mascis#curb your enthusiasm#film geek#music nerd#tv#kiss the future#U2

Addressing questions about announced projects from Tsubucon
So I've understandably been asked by many about the lack of UGF4 (mainly) announcements from Tsubucon since its 2-day run has ended
Which ngl, while even I was expecting it personally (blinded by hype and because I totally did not expect TsuPro to come up with so many tangential projects), I did some more digging to estimate when should we be hearing about at least the first news about UGF4
Comparing with last year and assuming the timeline of releases would be the same, since the Blazar Movie is stated to be released in 23rd Feb 2024, exactly the same date as the Decker Movie in 2023, recall that the first actual trailer we got for the Regulus series was on 27th April 2023 (I don't think we should count the Aug 2022 one cause that was coming fresh out of UGF3 then)
So realistically speaking, we should probably more reasonably expect to actually hear something about UGF4 in April 2024 rather than now since the main lineup has alr been announced for Tsubucon
And there's no doubt that there'll be a UGF4 for those that were asking as well, since they literally had a "To be continued" in the post credits scene of Regulus First Mission lol
As for the 2nd most asked installment, specifically the Shinverse continuation with either ShinU 2 or ShinSeven, the leaked timeline did point out that it's either gonna be released in 2024/25 so tbh it looks like it's slated for a release in 2025 (which im personally fine with since Anno has really been working very hard that its concerning, he deserves a longer break tbh), which means that we would most likely first hear about it somewhere mid-late 2024, Anno's involvement in Tsubucon this year could be interpreted as a foreshadowing
Which puts it in a similar situation to the leaked planned China Ultraman Movie that's also slated to be released in 2025 if yall recall the recent document leak as well, we also didn't hear anything about it at Tsubucon
As for everything else such as Marvel Comics continuation, Netflix Suitverse Novel adaptation etc, ngl I alr classified those possibilities as less likely than the above major ones so we can only assume that they don't plan on making those happen yet at least
But hell, I did predict a DH Anime on this blog prior lol, that one was truly out of left field as expected
Update: A continuation of the Marvel Comics series has been confirmed for 2024 during Tsubucon, details TBC tho

Lotta Stuff
The Annecy cool-news train keeps a-rollin', while I'm still reeling in from the delight that is ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE.
Speaking of SPIDER-VERSE, more on Sony Animation's 2D animated Genndy Tartakovsky adult comedy FIXED was unleashed, though still no release date or how it'll be released - despite strong implication that it's bound for... The big screen! It's going to be completed in September, too. Right around the corner. I wouldn't be surprised if this dog takes BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE's 3/29/2024 release date, giving the crew the time they need to perfect the closer to this multiverse-spanning spider trilogy.
We got some of the major cast (such as Adam Devine, Idris Elba, and Olivia "Liv" Octavius herself, Kathryn Hahn), and Tartakovsky continues to describe it as more classic-like, an R-rated LADY AND THE TRAMP and ONE HUNDRED AND ONE DALMATIANS. "A very sweet, charming, sincere story of friendship and romance.” Basically, everything they revealed and everything they've been saying make this sound like a winner. Plus it's Tartakovsky, you can't go wrong. We get this - and possibly his action movie BLACK KNIGHT later on down the line - instead of his POPEYE... It's been hinted that some legendary animators have been brought to this project, too. Ones that the crew didn't think they'd get... Intriguing...
Also, it could be the first major-release theatrical 2D animated movie that isn't based on a beloved property or a sequel since... THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG? Because since then... It's been films like WINNIE THE POOH, TV series-based fare like SPONGE OUT OF WATER (mixed media) and MY LITTLE PONY: THE MOVIE. KLAUS was a Netflix film, though it did have a few screenings in theaters.
If it goes to theaters, and does pretty well relative to the budget (I'd imagine this didn't cost more than, say, $30m to make?)... Well, I don't know if it'd move the needle on more 2D films being made, let alone more adult 2D films being made... But it'd be notable and quite nice for this type of film.
In the world of streaming comes a Netflix-exclusive DreamWorks animated film written by Charlie Kaufman, of all people! (He did do uncredited rewrites on KUNG FU PANDA 2, to be fair, one of my all-time favorites.) Directed by Sean Charmatz, in his feature directorial debut, ORION AND THE DARK (based on the book of the same name) sounds like - seemingly - a whole-hog meditation on fear and the dark and the beauty the night can be... Wait why is this a streaming movie, then? I get that it's being produced up at Mikros, like the studio's CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS was, but I feel it should be a theatrical release. Sounds every bit as worthy of big screens as RUBY GILLMAN is. Either way, it's interesting to see DreamWorks having two theatrical titles a year (a sequel and a non-sequel), and also beefing up the slate with smaller, quirkier Netflix pictures. As expected, the look of the film is stylized and cartoony.
The teaser for Pixar's ELIO is finally here, from COCO co-director Adrian Molina. Just in time for ELEMENTAL's release. It looks like the colorful and fun-looking space adventure that was promised at this past D23, with neat environment and creature design, and alien humor to spare. I'm here for more space adventure animated movies. There's something rather amusing about this trailer debuting when virtually everything else on Disney's whole slate of live-action/VFX-heavy pictures got shuffled... Like almost aggressively so. AVATAR 5 pushed all the way back to 2031 (what the hell are our lives gonna look like at the end of this year alone??), STAR WARS here, Marvel there... Meanwhile, the animated pictures remain in place... Pixars in March and June, WDASes in November... Quite something.
Elsewhere, Jorge Gutierrez expands on MAYA AND THE THREE and, surprisingly, his THE BOOK OF LIFE... A new story set in the same universe, perhaps a new dynamic way of doing a shared universe that won't feel as complicated and tried-and-true as other ones out there? Good to see him getting to play around with that world of his, in addition to other projects he has lined up, including an adult dog cartoon of his own: I, CHIHUAHUA!
THE SPIDER WITHIN also sounds great: Horror and an abstract portrayal of anxiety attacks by way of the SPIDER-VERSE series, and one that I - an anxiety-sufferer - am game to check out. I'm guessing they'll put this on the Blu-ray/4K set of ACROSS... I mean I hope. That they didn't say where it'll be released colors me skeptical.
New WDAS short ONCE UPON A TIME UPON A STUDIO could either be a fun tribute to the studio's 100-year legacy, or just a cynical self-congratulatory cameo stew. I like that they're using hand-drawn for this, but there's something kind of... I don't know... Off-putting? About a studio celebrating its legacy in hand-drawn animation while... Actively not pursuing hand-drawn animation for feature films in the foreseeable future... It's only used for maybe shorts and Disney+ projects. I know they keep saying "We're gonna do 2D!" or "The director chooses CG or 2D", but I also know that that's bunk... Until an actual 2D feature is greenlit and is actually in production, then I'll believe it. Also... Making use of previously-unused audio of Robin Williams recorded during production of ALADDIN... Given what hell Disney put Williams through with that film, and since it's been almost a decade since Williams' death... I'm also a bit struck by that. I like the premise of this short fine, and it's cool to see characters spanning over 60 films and a plethora of shorts, but... given how Disney can be a little excessive in their self-congratulations and such, on their centennial year? We'll see. What I want to hear about is what WDAS is releasing Thanksgiving 2024... That's where my mind's at.

Some Promising News About ‘Dark Winds’ Season 3 On Netflix - Notice Global Internet https://www.merchant-business.com/some-promising-news-about-dark-winds-season-3-on-netflix/?feed_id=194554&_unique_id=66df805ad3d36 Dark WindsAMCI have been extremely ... BLOGGER - #GLOBAL Dark WindsAMCI have been extremely impressed with the performance of Dark Winds on Netflix, where the AMC show was added to the service on August 19, and three weeks later, it has remained inside the top 10, currently at #8 as we speak. While many AMC shows have done well there, this has outperformed all the other ones that were just added, including Anne Rice’s collection of witches and vampires.Dark Winds has run for two seasons and no doubt fans are wondering if it’s going to be back for more. Well, there’s promising news on that front in that yes, it’s supposed to return for season 3.This was announced a full year ago, though if you missed this message with the show’s pretty low profile at the time, I wouldn’t blame you, and nothing has changed as of yet, it seems. Here’s the official announcement: “We started this journey with very high hopes for this series, given the remarkable source material and extraordinary creative team behind it, and it has delivered on every level, said Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks. “From the beloved novels, to an incredibly collaborative producing team that includes Robert Redford, George R. R. Martin, showrunner John Wirth and star Zahn McClarnon, to the entire cast and crew, there is so much storytelling yet to come in this universe. Thanks to the fans for embracing this series and the critics for celebrating and shining a light on it.”Dark WindsAMCThe show has been excellently received, currently with a 100% perfect score among critics across both of its seasons, one of the only such new series on TV right now with those high marks. The only bad news in this situation is that the third season will be spaced a lot further out than the first two were. The current target release dates is in early 2025, where season 1 premiered in June 2022 and season 2 was in July 2023, just a year later. Heading into 2025, that will be closer to two years this time around, and I’m not quite sure what the delay is. It might be star Zahn McClarnon who has appeared in loads of shows and movies as of late, from Marvel’s Echo to Jennifer Lawrence’s No Hard Feelings. And his run on the stellar Reservation Dogs just ended. One problem, however, is that we do not know how long it might take for the show to air on AMC compared to when it gets transferred to Netflix. Again, that took about a full year after it aired, so is it really going to be three years between seasons if you’re watching on Netflix compared to when season 2 ended? That wouldn’t be great. There is further good news in the sense that if AMC wants, Dark Winds can effectively run forever. The series is based on a series of detective novels by Tony Hillerman (who died in 2008), and there are 18 books. Actually, there are 27 books, because the series was continued by his daughter after his death. Endless content to adapt, in other words. I don’t know how many seasons this will run, but as a low budget, highly scored, Netflix licensing success, my guess is a lot. I just hope it doesn’t take forever to get here.Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.Pick up my sci-fi novels the Herokiller series and The Earthborn Trilogy.“By Paul Tassi Senior Contributor News and opinion about video games, television, movies and the internet. Emine Sadık Acting Career
Emine began acting shortly before she graduated from Juilliard, with some small parts at first and then she had a few breaks but often played supporting characters for an episode or two or smaller roles in movies. When her sister died in January, it was right before the release of her Netflix show One Day. At the time she was doing press and pulled out of engagements leading up to the show. Since then, she's been on a bit of a hiatus but still reviews scripts just to see if anything stands out. What she really wants to do is write but is afraid she won't be taken seriously.
2017 – AGE 21
"The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" (season 1) – Emine's first speaking role where she played a character involved in the stand-up comedy scene reflecting Emine’s comedic background.
2018 – AGE 22
"To All the Boys I've Loved Before" – Emine played a close friend of the protagonist, providing wisdom and humor.
2019 – AGE 23
"Booksmart" – Emine played one of the leads in this movie, showcasing her early work in comedy and coming-of-age themes. It's what opened the door to future roles.
"The Good Place" (season 3) – Emine played a new resident of the Good Place, interacting with the main characters and adding humor to ethical dilemmas.
2020 – AGE 24
"Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga" – Emine played a quirky contestant, contributing to the film’s musical and comedic elements.
"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (season 7) – Emine played a consultant brought in to help with a case.
2021 – AGE 25
"Emily in Paris" (season 2) – Emine played a new colleague at Savoir, bringing a fresh perspective and humor to the office dynamics.
Love Hard – Emine played a supportive friend, adding to the humorous and romantic elements of the film.
"Dickinson"(season 3) – Emine played a friend of Emily Dickinsons.
2022 – AGE 26
"Emily in Paris" (season 3) – Emine played the same colleague at Savoir, bringing a fresh perspective and humor to the office dynamics.
"Not Okay" – Emine played a character involved in the social media scene.
2023 – AGE 27
Murder Mystery 2 –Emine played a quirky detective who brings humor and charm to the mystery-solving team.
2024 – AGE 28
One Day (limited season) – Emine played the co-lead opposite Tarquin Arison, which is how they started dating, and she added depth and emotional complexity to the story’s rich tapestry. Much of her work after Booksmart involved supporting roles and this is one of the first ones since the movie that she's been the lead.

New Shows Coming in 2024
Now that we discussed the new movies coming in 2023, how about a list of the new shows I am most excited about coming to television and streamers in 2023? So I present the shows I am most excited about that are likely coming out this year (in alphabetical order):
3 Body Problem (Netflix) - From David Benioff and D.B. Weiss comes this science-fiction series based on a Chinese novel of the same name
The Acolyte (Disney+) - Taking place approximately 100 years before the birth of Anakin Skywalker is this new Star Wars series starring Amandla Stenberg.
Agatha: Darkhold Diaries (Disney+) - Kathryn Hahn reprises the role of Agatha Harkness in this Marvel Studios series co-starring Aubrey Plaza.
Creature Commandos (Max): This animated series is the kick-off of the new DCU's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. Whatever that means.
Dune: Prophecy (Max) - Set 10,000 years before the films, comes this series about the origins of the Bene Gesserit.
Fallout (Amazon Prime) - Based on the acclaimed video game franchise comes this post-apocalyptic drama.
The Franchise (HBO) - From creator Armando Iannucci comes this new comedy about the production of a superhero film.
The Girls on the Bus (Max) - Melissa Benoist stars in this political drama about female journalists embedded with presidential campaigns.
Manhunt (AppleTV+) - Follow the chase for John Wilkes Booth in his historical miniseries series starring Tobias Menzies. The show is based on the non-fiction book of the same name, but unlike other books with shows based on them coming out in 2024, I actually read this one.
Masters of the Air (AppleTV+) - Who wouldn’t be excited for a new World War II mini-series from the creators of Band of Brothers and The Pacific?
Mr. and Mrs. Smith (Amazon Prime) - Donald Glover and Maya Erskine star in this series based on the 2005 film of the same name.
The Penguin (Max) - Colin Farrell is once again Oswald Cobblepot in this limited series that takes place a week following the events of The Batman.
Ripley (Netflix) - Andrew Scott is Tom Ripley in this new series based on the novel The Talented Mr. Ripley.
Shōgun (Hulu/FX) - Visit 17th century Japan in this historical drama based on a 1975 novel.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew (Disney+) - From Jon Watts and Christopher Ford comes this Amblin-style story set in the Star Wars universe starring Jude Law.
Looking back at the 15 shows on my New Shows Coming in 2023 list, I watched 6, haven’t started 6, and 3 are finally being released in 2024.

Quick recap.
David Zaslav should not be running a movie studio. Yet another film has been locked away, one that was near-completed that you'll likely never see, because "tax write-off". First BATGIRL, then SCOOB! HOLIDAY HAUNT, now COYOTE VS. ACME... And even crazier, that production - which tested extremely well - involved James Gunn, one of the architects of Warner's new DC movie universe... Zaslav likely pissed Gunn off, big time... What kind of ineptitude is that?
He could've offloaded it to another distributor, like how the Looney Tunes movie THE DAY THE EARTH BLEW UP and the series BATMAN: CAPED CRUSADER were. But no, a $30m tax write-off. Because fuck everybody who worked hard making these movie, and fuck everybody who will be its audience - me included. Yachts do weird things to your brain. This is why there were strikes, and whatever happens with the Animation Guild next year, I hope that end of things gets to go HAM next year, because this is all kinds of bullshit. No movie should be locked in a vault because some dingus who doesn't like movies can't be bothered to actually do his job.
Lighter note...
The INSIDE OUT 2 teaser. At last. Funny how it came about right after the actor's strike ended. And even more egregious that while Disgust and Fear are still in the movie, their actors Mindy Kaling and Bill Hader didn't come back because the pay was below that of Amy Poehler's. Tony Hale - previously TOY STORY's jumpy Forky - takes over for Fear, Liza Lapira of many TV roles is now Disgust. New characters! I hate my anxiety, but I like this movie's Anxiety. The design, just. WOW! A scrunkly bunko chewed up Fraggle Rock reject, I dig. Funny how three of the four teased new emotions begin with "E", and the fourth with an "A". All vowels.
Voice work resumes on SPIDER-MAN: BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE. Please, no crunch this time. Lock the picture before frames are animated, no last minute changes up until the week before release.
The Netflix-exclusive DreamWorks feature ORION AND THE DARK, from director Sean Charmatz, has a release date, February 2nd... And a trailer... It has a very fun, subtly sketchy look, with characters looking like they were cast from notebook scribbles. Looks to be a fun kid-centric spooky time, like something the ill-fated Disney/Guillermo del Toro animation partnership "Disney Double Dare You" could've made.
The other big Netflix animated movie of 2024 doesn't have a concrete date, but its new trailer is quite striking. Shannon Tindle's ULTRAMAN RISING looks to work off of a SPIDER-VERSE-esque playbook with its textures and modeling (worth noting that Tindle was supposed to direct a superhero movie for Sony Animation up until the plug got pulled in July 2018, just a few months before SPIDER-VERSE 1 came out), but totally doing its own thing, with - as expected - all the anime influences. Another worthy experiment in CG animation pushing the medium in different directions once more.
Now that the strike is over, more delays are likely to come... Disney delayed a *ton* today on the Marvel and CG tech demo end... Their LION KING remake prequel leaves July 5, 2024 (where it was to open opposite of DESPICABLE ME 4) for December 20, 2024 (where it will go head to head with SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3)...
Marvel saw the biggest shakeup.
DEADPOOL 3 is now the sole MCU movie of next year, set for July 26, 2024.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD now opens 2/14/2025, followed by FANTASTIC FOUR on 5/2/2025, then former 2024 movie THUNDERBOLTS hits 7/25/2025, and the year ends with BLADE, 11/7/2025.
I get that two of these movies are former 2024 titles, but goddamn 2025 still has *four* MCU movies. They should really just do 1-2 solid movies that they took their time on every calendar year. For me, if the bar is GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 and BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER, the MCU would be in good standing every year...
They also still plan to release four movies, including AVENGERS: THE KANG DYNASTY, in 2026... Nah, this train I feel has to slow down a bit. You also have all those Disney+ shows as well, it's a bit overwhelming a feel.
So now Disney's 2024 slate, following the delaying of ELIO and all these Marvel movies, is down to... KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES (the first of their new movies, opening in late May), INSIDE OUT 2 (June), DEADPOOL 3 (July), a new ALIEN film (August), an untitled Disney live-action film (September), 20th Century title THE AMATEUR (November), an untitled WDAS film (November), and MUFASA: THE LION KING (December).
Two recently delayed Searchlight movies, THE BIKERIDERS and MAGAZINE DREAMS, can feasibly take some early 2024 slots. They may miss the Oscars, but I'd rather see them sooner than later. I don't know if they can reclaim their December slots with the actors now available to promote them (MAGAZINE DREAMS is tricky because its lead is Jonathan Majors), or if Disney/Searchlight would rather just focus primarily on POOR THINGS.
Untitled Disney September 2024 could just be a placeholder for another 20th Century or Searchlight film, and I doubt they move SNOW WHITE forward from March 2025 to that date. Otherwise, I can't think of any other movie in the tank that could make that date. At least one I've heard of or know that was in production before the strike.
I'm just hoping, since WISH is right around the corner, that we hear what WDAS 2024 is going to be. Who's directing, what it's about, the title, etc. From the trenches, I hear it's a fantasy film set in the Middle East, possibly directed by Suzi Yoonessi, who is of Iranian descent. Maybe, maybe not. I'd love to know soon, though. But whenever they're ready, they're ready. No rushing, now.
I expect a lot more scheduling developments to take place over the next month or so, now that the dust has settled...

Stranger Things 5 Will Have Less New Characters, Say Duffer Bros
Picture : Netflix
If there’s 1 issue that can generally be agreed on about Stranger Points , it is that the forged is so dang significant. Amongst the Hawkins youngsters and their loved ones customers getting distribute out across the nation making new close friends , the a variety of government and supernatural figures, and Hopper’s party in Russia, you could actually really feel like the fourth year was straining to give all people one thing to do. J uggling so several characters isn’t an simple activity, specifically when so lots of of them all of a sudden come to be admirer favorites overnight.
But for the fifth and remaining season , creators Ross and Matt Duffer approach on preserving the concentrate on the show’s previously established characters. Speaking to IndieWire , the brothers confessed that they would “do our best” to not incorporate new figures . Matt in specific stated the last time would focus on “the OG people,” so presumably the Hawkins youngsters, Hopper, and Joyce Byers who commenced this all back again in year one.
The brothers even more acknowledged the danger of introducing new people, which often arrives at the cost of display time for veteran forged customers. “Whenever we introduce a new character, we want to make confident that they are going to be an integral element of the narrative,” stated Ross. Employing Joseph Quinn’s Eddie as an case in point, Ross continued that from conception to casting, they’re “careful” about the process of bringing new blood into the present. “W e just cannot add a person which is going to just acquire absent from our characters if they are not terrific.”
Any time a new actor is additional to the cast, they are aware of the hazard that will come with receiving a plotline to make them fit with the relaxation of the display, ongoing Matt. But for the most part, the brothers have located that the new additions have paid out off, these as Sadie Sink’s Max and Maya Hawke’s Robin. “Be bring about these actors are incredible it is just genuinely entertaining. I just like shaking it up, so we shake it up by modifying the plot or including in a new monster.”
Stranger Things’ fifth and last year will strike Netflix in 2024.

Unfortunately, it's a bit weak. The actors themselves are fine, and it could be a nice goofy type of show, but the writing isn't there. You have the Sheriff and Stan, who are completely accepting that the fact witches and other evil stuff exist, but just brush it off (well, Stan at least) like it's no big deal. It shows off Lee's New York roots better than virtually all his other cameos, though, and so feels like some authentic find among all the artifice. 14. Thor The Dark World (2013) Sometimes Stan. It's no secret that Marvel constantly spins off Superman, whether it be with Ikarus or Hyperion. Sentry, however, has a chance against the original. Fans of DC and Marvel always enjoy a good fight between powerful characters like Superman and Sentry. In 2000, Marvel created an insanely powerful superhero with the letter S on his costume.

Disney Amid the Pandemic
The Walt Disney Company has been hard at work during the pandemic period. The business has introduced new products, implemented strategic planning practices, and has continued to power-through COVID-19 limitations. This well-known and clearly recognizable brand has become a company that appeals to various aspects of consumer life. Disney provides merchandise, movies, television shows, cartoons, and exciting theme-parks. In November of 2019, the company released Disney+, a video-streaming service consisting of hundreds of popular Disney shows and movies. Although the arrival of this service was intriguing to many, the company was able to achieve growth rates that no one was expecting. At the time of the launch, Disney was estimating to hit between 60 and 90 million subscribers by 2024. Impressively, by January of 2021, the company had already achieved 95 million paid subscribers. This rapid growth took place over the course of just 14 months, while the video-streaming leader, Netflix, required 9 years of business to reach this level. I find that I am in agreeance with many critics in regards to the pandemic period attributing to the rapid success of Disney+. The pandemic presented a period where homes became the place for work, relaxation, and leisure activities. With the closing of restaurants, movie theatres, and other social-hubs, consumers were in need of new ways to unwind. Meanwhile, during this period, the Walt Disney Company was in need of new strategic methods to reach consumers as they were forced to close the doors to their numerous theme parks. The company made the smart decision to focus on direct-to-consumer practices during this time and utilized their streaming service as the primary outlet to do so. Due to this strategic shift, Disney was able to see a 73% increase in direct-to-consumer revenue, following their success of reaching 146 million Disney+ subscribers. This company decision to shift their attention during this period of uncertainty has proven to be a success! It will be interesting to see how Disney+ grows as time continues. Will there be a decline in subscribers after COVID-19 restrictions become obsolete and people return to other social activities? Or, has the company effectively entered consumer lives for the long-haul? It is my personal opinion that the company will need to find new opportunities for growth within their Disney+ product in order to sustain a competitive advantage over other streaming services. Disney+ falls into the same industry as Hulu and Netflix, adding a fierce level of competition. Unlike Netflix, Disney+ currently appears to be limited in terms of content availability. The service has the rights to the content library of all videos that are owned by Disney, but will this be enough? Disney+ may have to pursue content expansion opportunities by generating new original content. Netflix has a vast library as well as the ability to produce new content for their service. Disney+ may want to begin creating new original content for their subscribers so that consumers do not find themselves with nothing new to watch within the service. By constantly providing new content and releases, Disney+ will be able to keep subscribers engaged with the streaming service for the long-term.
Since the arrival of Disney+, I have found that I absolutely love the service. Before its launch, I remember researching the product and its offerings. Quickly after its debut, I became a subscriber to the service. Interestingly, in comparison to many other video-streaming subscribers, I am currently subscribed to all three of the industry leaders. I am a subscriber of Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ in order to have the most extensive library of content at my fingertips. When comparing these three competitors, I find Disney+ to have the advantage of nostalgia. I initially became a subscriber to Disney’s streaming service in order to watch all of the Disney shows from my childhood. Although other companies like Netflix currently have the advantage of owning a large library of content, I truly believe that the ability to have content that satisfies the nostalgia of consumers is something only Disney+ clearly provides at this moment. Many subscribers to Disney+ are eager to re-watch content that they have not enjoyed for over a decade. In addition, the company made the strategic decision to partner with Hulu and ESPN+ with their bundle offering, providing consumers will a well-priced option for a wide variety of content. Further, Disney+ not only offers the company’s original content, but also provides subscribers with Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic motion pictures. By implementing these factors, the Walt Disney Company has begun to offer consumers with a desirable product and build the streaming service’s competitive advantage. I am eager to see what comes next for Disney+ and what sorts of opportunities the business takes advantage of in order to become a more prevalent leader in the industry. Will Disney continue to place prevalence on their Disney+ product and pursue growth opportunities for the service even after the pandemic settles? When the company’s parks are able to operate at full-capacity and revenue streams return to normal levels, will Disney continue to expand their video-streaming service? These questions are likely to require time in order to be answered. I feel that it is likely the Walt Disney Company will base such decisions on the continuously changing consumer trends, behaviors, and preferences during these times.
In addition to strategically shifting towards a more direct-to-consumer focus, the Walt Disney Company has recently made the decision to close many of their retail stores. The idea behind this decision is to “significantly reduce the company’s brick and mortar footprint” in order to enhance the business’s e-commerce. In the past, the company had their focus on reaching consumers through stores around the globe. Moving forward, the company would like to place more attention on e-commerce with the hope of providing a flexible experience that is desirable to consumers. Disney hopes that through their new e-commerce initiatives, consumers will have easy access to company products from all Disney franchises. Based on the information provided, it appears that the company is hoping to provide consumers with a one-stop-shop for all-things Disney. Interestingly, the company’s most recent decision to cut stores from its platform was not the first-step Disney has taken. Disney has closed about 60 stores since 2010, and this recent announcement introduces the plan to decline their brick and mortar stores to a total of 250. In October of 2020, it was reported that of the company’s total $65.4 million in revenue, retail and merchandising revenue consisted of $4.2 billion. The company’s decision to focus on e-commerce could present an opportunity for Disney to increase revenue in their retail sector as shopping for Disney products will become easily-accessible to consumers around the world.
The company’s strategic decisions to focus on direct-to-consumer and e-commerce processes provide the company with opportunities to grow. In regards to their theme-park segment, Disney has become increasingly popular yet again over the past few weeks. During the recent spring-break period, Disney-themed park reservations filled up incredibly quickly. Last-minute consumer decisions to attend the park during this time could not be fulfilled. In recent months, Disney was permitted to increase park capacity to 35%, which had previously been limited to 25%. The parks continue to follow COVID-19 guidelines through the implementation of a reservation system, face mask requirements, temperature checks upon arrival, and social distancing markers throughout the parks. Although the company is limited in terms of the number of guests they can invite to the happiest place on earth, it appears that the company is performing steadily amid pandemic regulations. It was reported that only Epcot and Animal Kingdom parks had open availability during the end of March this year, while Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios were completely booked until April 11th. It is exciting to see businesses like Disney having the opportunity to remain somewhat active during these times. With the combination of somewhat open parks, a booming streaming service, and the implementation of new e-commerce methods, the Walt Disney Company is setting themselves up for continued success!

How Disney+ Will Make Money (Eventually) | Screen Rant
Disney is entering the streaming wars this year with the launch of its own service, Disney+, but how is it going to make money? The Mouse House has ambitious plans for its streaming service, with a wealth of original content to complement its already impressive back catalog of movies and TV shows.
This has been a long time coming from Disney, who have long since started the process of removing their content from other platforms, most notably Netflix. The streaming wars are only going to intensify in the next few years as WarnerMedia, NBC Universal, Apple, and many others all try to get a slice of the market that Netflix has had a considerable hold over for most of the decade - but Disney+ is the best placed of them all to do so.

Alongside Disney's own movies, there's also content from Fox now too, and new TV series in the works across major franchises such as Marvel and Star Wars. All of that costs a lot of money, of course, which Disney won't make back immediately, but they do have long-term plans to ensure Disney+ is a financial success.
Disney is aiming to hit the ground running with Disney+, which means having a lot of content available either at launch or not long afterward. Within the first year of Disney+, which will become available on November 12, 2019, the Mouse House expects to have 500 films and 7,500 episodes of television available to stream, including multiple original series and films. That will also include not just its already extensive back catalog of Disney classics, MCU movies, and the Star Wars saga, but new releases too. Films like Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, for example, are going to be on there within a few months of being in cinemas, and that's on top of its original shows.
Disney has no fewer than seven MCU TV series in the works for Disney+ right now, and four Star Wars shows too. That alone is going to make Disney+ essential for many people, and it comes at a surprisingly low cost. The basic Disney+ subscription is $6.99 per month, with a bundle including Hulu and ESPN+ available for $12.99 p/m. Since the latter price is the starting point for Netflix and Amazon's basic subscriptions, it means that Disney+ is already looking like it'll give subscribers the best possible value for money when considering how much content will be on there.
Disney is betting big on Disney+. Making several Marvel and Star Wars TV shows - alongside various other series and movies, including live-action remakes like Lady and the Tramp - costs a lot of money, with the Marvel and Star Wars shows expected to have budgets around the $100 million mark. Disney is planning on spending around $1 billion on original content for Disney+ in 2020, and that's set to increase to around $2.5bn by 2024. That's a lot of cash within a very quick time frame, and doesn't even include everything. When you add in infrastructure and technological costs, marketing, and the loss of revenue from IPs they licensed out, this makes Disney+ a huge financial commitment from Disney.

Disney isn't going to make that back immediately, or even for a few years. This is a calculated risk from the Mouse House, because the streaming wars are essentially adhering to the old adage that you have to spend money to make money. That's why NBCUniversal paid a reported $500 million to have The Office on its own forthcoming streaming service, why WarnerMedia has signed J.J. Abrams & Bad Robot to a $500m deal, and why Netflix paid an estimated $100m to keep Friends on its service just for 2019. Disney is plowing billions into Disney+ upfront, but that's with the intention of getting subscribers in early and enjoying sustained success.
Like Netflix, Disney+ isn't going to have adverts when it launches, which is extremely important for a streaming service. While audiences are used to ads on regular TV, they're less commonplace in the streaming world, and there'd likely be some pushback if Disney wanted ads on their new streaming service. However, just because Disney+ won't have ads doesn't mean the company overall can't benefit from advertising elsewhere.
Disney+ is being bundled in with ESPN+ and Hulu, and it's the latter that's quite key here. While there is an ad-free version of Hulu, that's not the one being included in the bundle; instead, it's one supported by ads. Nonetheless, the price of the three-way bundle is going to make it a no-brainer for many, including people who might've been on the fence or otherwise not interested in subscribing to Hulu. Those sign-ups are going to boost subscriptions, which in turn is going to massively please advertisers, and increase that as a revenue stream. ESPN+ has only limited advertising, but again if there's a sharp boost in subscribers thanks to Disney+, then the money made from that will increase too. This allows Disney+ to market itself as ad-free, which is a considerable selling point for money, and yet still benefit from ad-revenue.
Disney+ isn't going to topple Netflix immediately. According to the latest figures, Netflix has 150 million subscribers around the world, while Disney+ is beginning with a limited rollout that'll include just five countries, meaning it's not going to be the Netflix-killing machine that some have tipped it as - or at least, not straight away. Although Netflix is extremely commonplace, streaming services are still a relatively new technology to many people, and it's going to be a while yet before they become the de facto choice of viewing content across all consumer types.

That's why the streaming wars are heating up now: it's not just about 2019 or 2020, but looking ahead to 2024, 2025, and well-beyond there. If the future is streaming, which it seems to be, then it's good to start preparing for that in the present. Disney+ is very much a long-term plan for Disney. In the short-term, they can boost growth quite rapidly thanks to TV series like The Mandalorian, but they've got MCU series planned until at least 2021. Looking at Marvel's sustained success on the big screen, it isn't difficult to imagine Disney+ doing something similar, except with multiple major franchises, including Fox properties, and an enviable back catalog of movies and TV shows that is only going to get bigger and better.
Disney+ is projected as having 60-90 million subscribers and profitability by 2024; other analysts have suggested Disney could have as many as 130m subscribers across its online platforms by then. Either way, that's a sign of Disney's long-term thinking, with the revenue not coming just from the increased subscribers (which is also going to be made better by taking a chunk of those away from its competition), but that this will increase stock and share value over time too.
One of the reasons Disney+ seems set for sustained long-term success, while many analysts are gloomy about Netflix's own prospects in that regard, is that Disney+ is not self-reliant. Netflix is entirely its own thing: it needs to generate its own revenue, spend its own money, and boost its own subscriber base, and that's only going to become more difficult as the streaming wars go on. Because a big part of Netflix's appeal has been licensed content, then the more that gets taken away, the less content they have, and the more they need to spend on replacing it.
Disney+, on the other hand, is one part of a monolithic company, and Disney doesn't just rely on Disney+ to make money. Instead, Disney+ will play a part in the Mouse House's overall brand synergy. We can see signs of this already in their Marvel shows: Scarlet Witch is appearing in WandaVision and, shortly after, Doctor Strange 2, while the other MCU series are all likely to setup or at least help boost movies in Phase 4 and beyond. In a more abstract sense, The Mandalorian being a hit only serves to strengthen the Star Wars brand, which is better for revenue everywhere from the box-office to merchandise. Disney can advertise Disney+ on ABC; they can promote it at their parks; movies will go from cinema to Disney+. All of Disney's brands can link together and feed one another, which Disney+ is now going to be a big part of (especially in terms of movies and merchandising), thus making it even more valuable to Disney before it's actually started turning a profit itself.
