NEWJEANS WITH A CRUSH
how newjeans act when they have a crush
TAGS: headcanons. pure fluff. set in highschool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
KIM MINJI
• lowkey highkey a chicken
• her crush was so obvious even the school janitor knows. her eyes practically shoots hearts at the sight of you. her face lights up like a child opening presents when you're in the same vicinity as her
• one of the prettiest girl in the school but when you talk to her she turns to the lamest of losers
• can act a little more normal when she's around friends. but when its just the two of you, her steps are a little slower and she's a little more hyperaware of her surroundings. but her smile is undoubtedly wider and everything about her just glows.
• she just smiles at you like a fool, sometimes she forgets to even breath. you can run your mouth but she's too busy daydreaming for your words to register in her mush of a mind
• but she tries to recover by inviting you on study dates sessions. where you both never really study and just end up getting kicked out of the library.
• her friends were quick to get tired of the pinning. the secret glances and the fleeting touches were so painful to watch they had to intervene.
you sit idly at the swings, staring at the families and couple around you. the sun paints the park in orange glow. hearing footsteps behind you, you turn around to meet minji's eyes.
"hey," she greets as she sits beside you. "what did you want to meet up for?" she asks you and she looks so cute with one of her eyebrows raised and her lips in a small smile.
you furrow your eyebrows at her. "i was about to ask the same thing. you're the one who gave me a note saying you have something to tell me." you reach to your left pocket to take out a yellow note.
she watches you cautiously, her gut already forming a hunch. she could see it from a mile away. but its too late.
minji takes a note that looks similar to yours out of her back pocket. she watches your face attentively, witnessing how the gears on your mind twisted and turned before the realization dawning on you. she averts her eyes shyly.
"guess we got played, huh?" you smile bashfully. and minji's lips turned upward automatically.
suddenly, her face turned blank and at the corner of your eye you see her fists clench on her lap. she didn't look serious or nervous, just blank and frozen. yet, her eyes bore into your soul.
in her mind, minji thinks its far too late to turn back. there's no point in doing so even if she can anyway. you were here and she was in front of you. only a fool would let a chance like this go to waste. minji is a coward but she is no fool.
"i like you."
PHAM HANNI
• she would throw herself off a cliff before confessing her feelings. no, not because she's scared to be rejected. but she wants you to be the one to confess.
• flirts with you every opportunity she gets. and if there isn't any she makes one. her day cannot be over without seeing your blushing face.
• every time she compliments you its paired with a hug or a kiss in the cheek just to show she means it with all her heart
• then she teases you for being so flustered because she's cheeky.
• always touching you one way or another. whether it be linking your pinky fingers or leaning her head on your shoulder. you name it.
• hanni would be doing everything in the book apart from confessing. she doesn't mind how long it takes, she'll get you to confess to her.
• however, she does drop hints to speed things up. like making you sit through thousand of rom-coms. and when one of the protagonists profess their undying love, she always wonders how being confessed to feels like.
you sit at the couch with hanni curled up beside you. the two of you were wrapped in a fluffy blanket while the empty bowl of popcorn is nestled between hanni's arms. you don't know it but hanni doesn't move to place the bowl to the coffee table because she fears that moving an inch would make you remove your arms around her.
a familiar scene comes onscreen. you know this part, it's the scene where the main characters confess their feeling to each other. "we've watched this so many times. i can literally recite this scene word for word," you keep your gazed fixed on the screen.
"really? say it to me then," hanni's reply came natural, like she practiced saying that line a thousand times. your head snapped to the girl beside you to find her already waiting for your eyes.
"let's see it then," she challenges. her smirk ever widening. you yield.
"i love that you get cold when it's 71 degrees out. i love that it takes you an hour-and-a-half to order a sandwich." you recite the first two lines with the help of the actual movie, turning to it every time you forget a word.
your gaze fell to hanni one more time, and the lines came naturally flooding at the top of your head. yet, the words got stuck on your throat for a moment as you see her watch you with a fond smile. "i .. i love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like i'm nuts."
"i love that when I spend a day with you, i can still smell your perfume on my clothes," your smile fell slowly word by word. your heart skipped at the realization that the words, no matter how unoriginal, came straight from your heart.
hanni looks at you, overjoyed. her heart swells at every syllable that leaves your lips. she'd hang every star in the sky just for you.
"and i love that you are the last person i want to talk to before i go to sleep at night," you finish. and only then did you realize how close your faces are.
a silent second pass consisting of the sound of the forgotten movie in the background.
"i meant it. every word," you confess.
"took you long enough"
MARSH DANIELLE
• she's the first one to realize her crush on you. because she's that in tune with her emotions
• dani tries to make it obvious. and in hindsight it is.
• she leaves cute notes at your locker filled with pink hearts. that asks about your day, or reminds you to eat and never lets you forget to take care of yourself
• miss marsh makes time to talk to you everyday, going out of her to meet you no matter how inconvenient the situation is to her. her class might be at the other end of the school but she'd still show up to bring you a cup of coffee or tea.
• but you still don't notice any of her advances. and its starting to frustrate her.
• but could she blame you? she is friends with the whole school. it was only natural to think you were of her many close friends who she enjoys the company of
danielle walks besides you. you glance at her for a moment and god she is so bright. the sweetest. she shines as radiant like no other. and the best part is she's right beside you.
"thank you for always walking me. you're such a nice friend," you think at how she's been nothing but nice ever since you've met her. an angel.
you look back towards danielle to see her frowning at you like you just cursed at her. "what's wrong, dani?" you ask a bit worried at her sudden mood change.
"a...friend,"she mumbles the word to herself in disgust. her eyes on fixated on the ground.
"yeah? im glad you consider me close enough of a friend. i mean you have so many friends,bi just think im lucky," you say like its so obvious. and danielle finally meets your eyes, they held disappointment.
you were denser than she thought. or were you just deliberately looking the other way. her minds is breaking in two thinking of all the reasons why you still have not caught on to her intentions yet.
"i didn't think you were this oblivious," she says straight to your face and you were about to take offense when you realized you had no idea of what she's complaining about.
"well, why don't you stop sulking and tell me what the problem is so we can fix it, dani," you wait for her response eagerly. what has made sweet danielle so irritated. you ensure revenge on anything anyone that dares to harm precious dan-
"its you."
"what did i do?" your words came out like a cry, putting your hand on your heart dramatically in shock.
"you're too stupid to realize i like you."
KANG HAERIN
• poor girl never realized she had a crush on you.
• everything just came natural. she didn't think of you as a friend yet the thought of being your lover never crossed her mind either. and she never stopped to think what that meant
• she never missed your presence because she tries to follow you everywhere. although she resembles more like a lost puppy rather than a shadow.
• before everyone knew it, she was acting like your girlfriend. all the while she is still unaware of her own feelings.
• one day, she just start sitting with you during lunch. and from that day forward, you both eat together. sometimes in comforting silence, other times in quiet chatter.
• she didn't even notice she was waiting outside your classes just to walk you to your next.
• haerin needed the words of others to finally know what she's been feeling
"here. let me pay," you took your wallet out you pocket and opened it. suddenly, haerin placed her hand on top of yours.
"no. i was the one who invited you," her hand snatched the bill quickly. and when you tried to reach get it out of her palms, she puts it out of your reach.
thankfully, night time meant there were only a few people in the cafe. but that doesn't mean your little squabble didn't get their attention though.
"nope," your hand pulls her arm back gently. "come on, give me that."
"come get it then, shortie," she laughs at your attempts. haerin's heart jump as you try to get closer and closer. your hands brushed with her for a second, her skin tingling where your touch met hers.
"look, why don't we just split the bill?" you relent, you knew haerin too well to know she'd never hand that booklet over even if you attempt a thousand times.
"give up already?" she teases but she puts the bill down. and you take this chance to grab it and run to the cashier, handing her your money swiftly.
"come on, that's so unfair," haerin complained as she walked over to you, admitting defeat. she would've run to chase you but a part of her wanted to see the victorious smile adorning your face.
"shut up, loser," you stuck your tongue out. you look back towards the cashier who is looking at the both of you with a small smile. "oh to be young and in love again."
"oh- uh- we're not, actually we're...yeah," you fumble, making the old woman in front of you laugh.
"oh, i know." she smiles at you mysteriously like she knows something you don't. she hands you the receipt and you bow at her one last time before exiting the cafe.
you look behind you to see haerin deep in her thoughts. "hey don't mind what she sa-"
haerin puts a finger on her lips, "shush, i'm thinking." you roll your eyes playfully at her but still giving her silence like she wanted.
haerin's thoughts drift from the little ache she tries her hardest to ignore when you're away to the way her heart drums in her ear when you're near.
everything felt like a puzzle finally coming to place. well, she would've come to this conclusion on her own but she was too occupied pinning over you to notice. she wasn't shocked, more like "aha!"
haerin's hand caught your wrist to stop you from walking. the moonlight illuminating your confused face. she looks at you, chill and cool as ever. as if she'd let her voice waiver at a time like this.
she says in the steadiest voice like the words were as natural as uttering her own name, "i think i like you."

dates with new jeans:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
minji: concert date:
minji loves going to concerts, this is not a secret. she loves going to concerts and doing concerts. so, without any hesitation, she will take you to your favourite artist's concert when it comes to town! even if she didn't like it, she would sing and dance with you in the pit. and when she does concerts with the group, your girlfriend will always find a way to get you tickets for you and your friends to come see her on stage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
hanni: night walk:
just imagine hanni and you, in the animated streets of seoul, walking hand in hand. hanni likes to walk with you, just holding your hand and looking around at the people or the shops and restaurants around you. and if you ever come to melbourne, she would make you visit the place she grows up with, and explain to you why they are important to her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
danielle: aquarium date:
danielle kept begging you to go on an aquarium date since one opened near where you live. and after days and days of negotiations, you decided to take her to the aquarium. and oh my god, dani became a total kid when she stepped in. she was so cute!! looking around at all the fish around her, laughed when dani saw a fish that looked like you. and, of course, you bough her a fish plushy, and everytime she misses you, danielle hugs the plushy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
haerin: shopping date:
you both like clothes and fashion, so it's without any doubt that the two of you often go on shopping dates. you go into your favourite shops, slaloming in the aisles. haerin stops and shows you the ugliest clothes just to say "it would look good on you" with a devilish smile on her face. but, of course, you know she's joking. matching outfits is also something you do often, choosing matching pants and tshirt, taking a pic and posting in on instagram. one thing haerin likes about going on shopping dates with you, is that she can choose your next sweater to her to wear.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
hyein: after school dates:
hyein likes friday afternoons. not only because it's finally the weekend, but because of your after-school date. since you're in the same high school, you took the habit of going out after classes. you wait for her in front of the school, taking her by the hand and going to the nearest coffee shop to sit and talk about your day of school. and after that, you either go to your house or to the arcade.

leading lady - 1.4. getting the role (of tissue papers) [half written]
previous | next
Tumblr media
it was a bit awkward to explain to the nurse how y/n ended up getting a nosebleed and a reddened forehead with a panicking minji. the nurse couldn’t even understand what she was saying as y/n held her by the arm trying to calm her down.
in the small sterile clinic, y/n sat stiffly by the edge of the bed, an ice pack pressed against the bridge of her nose, while her other hand was clutching onto a bloodied handkerchief. her gaze would briefly shift between minji then onto the handkerchief. she had placed a tissue paper on her nose.
minji stood beside her, gently holding onto another ice pack to her forehead. both would look at the other then quickly look away with one thought in mind ‘this is awkward’.
“i’m sorry.” it was quiet, the awkward tension still lingering between them. “i’m so sorry… i should have been more careful.”
“it’s fine,” her voice was slightly muffled. “accidents happen.”
she shifted slightly, wincing a bit as she looked up at her. her expression softening as minji quickly glances at her then away. ‘cute.’
“you know…” minji looks up, not realizing how close their faces are. y/n wasn’t looking, her gaze fixated on the floor as she adjusted the ice pack on her nose. “i remember you back in high school, kim minji, right?”
“yeah… how do you-“
“funny story.” y/n smiles, gaze still fixed to the floor as she tries to reach for the tissue paper - minji handed it to her. “i had a crush on you back then.”
‘till now actually’ she couldn’t admit that, but at least she’s doing something about this small crush she has had since high school.
minji blinked, holding onto the roll of tissue paper that almost slipped from the sudden revelation that the violet had a crush on her back in high school.
“me?” she points at herself, as y/n nodded taking the tissue roll, a small fond smile on her face.
“yup, you were and still are so talented when you’re on stage like - you truly shine and i was merely there watching you rehearse that it felt like i was watching someone from broadway perform.”
she smiles, followed by a nervous yet genuine laugh that made y/n look up at her, eyes squinting a bit out of curiosity and confusion.
“sorry, it’s just-“
“that i blurt out a confession?” minji shook her head as she checked on y/n’s forehead, removing the ice pack and seeing that it’s no longer red. only their cheeks with a hint of blush from how bizarre this entire situation is.
“no, but i used to have a crush on you as well, but never really said anything.” y/n choked on her own spit as she looked up at minji, all this time there was something but she just chose not to say anything. clearing her throat as she sits up straight, directly looking at minji as her mind processes the confession.
“what?”
“i mean, you were pretty much popular back then and now-“ minji fixes y/n’s bangs, a fond smile as she looks at the older girl in front of her. a piece of tissue paper on her nose, a bit of dried blood on her upper lip, a shocked expression. “you’re a model, im violet. i’m surprised you had a crush on me.”
y/n couldn’t say anything, her mind filled with questions, what ifs - it's like she’s back in the tech booth admiring minji from afar even if she’s standing right in front of her. she feels something soft on her forehead for a second, the feeling lingering a bit as minji places her hand on top of hers, a gentle squeeze.
“they say kisses heal wounds.” kim minji kissed her forehead. y/n doesn’t understand where the boldness came from but she wants more of it. whatever minji is doing to her, she wants it - ‘fuck.’
“is that your way of making it up to me?” y/n tries to deflect those fleeting feelings that she once believed was gone. it was long buried until she saw her again, kim minji still has her wrapped around her finger.
minji laughs as she sits next to y/n, her hand gently placed on top of hers as she takes in the current state y/n is in. it’s funny, some would assume that y/n got into a fight and this was their way of confessing to each other their undying feelings.
in reality, minji smacked a door onto y/n’s face.
after a few minutes of silence, y/n laughed, throwing away another bloody tissue paper. minji gave her the roll once more as she soon joined in on the laughter shared between them.
“can we-“ y/n stood up, throwing away all of the bloody tissue papers as she turned around back at minji. “-start over?”
the younger girl nodded, stretching her hand out for y/n to take.
“hi, i’m kim minji and i’m sorry for smacking your face with a door.” she takes it, smiling as she looks up, her face now clear of any tissue paper shoved up her nose.
“im y/n, and you’re forgiven.” as they both let go, the curtain was then abruptly moved to the side as their respective friends came rushing and panting looking at the pair.
yeji was the first to check up on y/n, holding her by the cheek and moving her head side to side and pulling her down to further inspect any injuries. minji shook her head with a teasing smile as she watched y/n’s friends ask questions and check up on the girl.
“guys, i’m fine.” there’s a bright smile plastered on her face as she quickly glances at minji. “i had a great nurse.”

picnic w my cat
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kang haerin x f!reader
Warning: Just cute.. kisses...that's all I think?..hyein teases you two (nothing suggestive PLEASE) bad writing again
summary: Danielle's idea of a picnic for you and your grumpy girlfriend haerin! At least she agreed! (she was forced
haerin is green and you are purple
Tumblr media
—Let's go haerin!" you murmur as you pull haerin's hands while she is lazily on the sofa while closing her eyes and frowning, next to her is Hyein trying to push her "unnie...stop being lazy!"
You hear haerin purr lazily "I don't want to get up..our picnic can be right here on the dorm floor.." she murmurs and throws herself more on the sofa while hyein and you snort at the same time and you roll your eye
“I'll give all the tomatoes to danielle to eat then!" and then like a flash you see haerin open her eyes "good..I'll go then..but it's only because you and hyein are forcing me.." she murmurs and looks away I glance at Hyein who gives a smile and claps "YEAH! WE DID IT!" and gets up from the sofa doing a dance that was definitely danielle's suggestion
haerin squints her eyes and looks away from hyein "I want to eat the tomatoes, let's go" and then she simply gets up and heads towards the door "I'll carry you this time, I don't want to fall like before" before leaving the door leaving you and hyein look at each other then hyein bursts into laughter and you roll your eyes pretending to feel offended "it's just her personality, she wants to carry me!" you mumble and grab the basket of food "I'm telling the truth!" and you just hear hyein murmur in agreement before opening the door and walking out in search of haerin
"Wait for me haerin!" you mumble as you run to her and she's already on the bike waiting for you to get on "hurry up!" She murmurs and you roll your eyes and walk towards her, placing the food in the bicycle basket and then getting on the back of the bike "hold on to my waist" Haerin murmurs as she adjusts the food basket in front of her and you do what she asked, then she takes the get off the ground and start pedaling
It doesn't take long to arrive, when you arrive at the place it's quite empty, there are just a few babies playing with their parents and some ducks in the lake, when you get off the bike and get the basket with food you wait for Haerin to pull over the bike and pick it up. her hand pulling her to the place where you will put the towel without giving her time to complain, you can see her murmur and blush a little as she lets you take her to the place
"oooh...it's so beautiful.." you murmur as you give Haerin the basket to hold and take the towel and place it on the floor, sitting down and then taking Haerin's hand to put the food on the towel, while you do this haerin sits down and adjusts herself comfortably, facing you, when you finish and look at haerin she is so focused on watching you and thinking about life that she forgets that you are looking at her too, when she realizes she looks away and a little mockery comes out of her lips while she looks at the food and looks for the tomato
tomato..." she mutters unconsciously and takes the tomato and puts a whole one in her mouth, biting into it "that's your favorite thing, right..." you mutter while watching her eat it so quickly as if she were afraid you'd want to eat it too , but then you are surprised, she takes two small tomatoes from the bag and offers them to you, extending her hand and looking at you while you look on in surprise "eat...hm...now" You smile and mumble a small "thank you" as you take it from her hands and shove it in your mouth, and you swear you can see a small smile on her face before she turns away to eat more tomatoes.
You then slide a little to her side and you can see her staring at you blankly as you settle into her and put your head on her shoulder, you can feel her heart racing, but she continued with her monotonous expression while eating tomatoes
“hyein said we looked cute" you murmur softly as you look at the sky with beautiful clouds "I think you're actually cute" haerin murmurs indifferently and then blinks a few times and looks away at you when he feels one of his shoulders shaking for you laughing
Why did you say that?..” you mumble between small laughs and get up from her shoulder looking at her now and she stays silent, so you just smile and give haerin a soft kiss on the cheek, you can see how she blushes and eats the tomatoes to disguise it while looking away
haerin doesn't respond, but it's okay, she always does that and it doesn't mean she hated it, so you look at the sky and smile "that looks like bunnies..." you say softly when you see a cloud and haerin looks and shakes his head positively and then looks at you, but you don't notice and continue looking at the clouds
until soft, cold lips like haerin's are attached to yours, that didn't feel right, it's very rare for haerin to initiate a kiss with you, in public.
you feel one of haerin's hands curl around the back of your neck and you give her a smile and continue kissing her, she smells like tomatoes.. when you pull away she has the smallest smile possible but at least she's smiling so you give one smile bigger "I love you haerin" and she blushes and looks away as if she was thinking a little, then murmurs "me too.."

It’s a story of heartbreak, healing, and a romance you didn’t see coming.
>>>pictures are from 📌, CTTO
a/n: hope y'all like this one(?), idk, maybe it's a little cliche but well, we have our preferences soo... please do enjoy this work.
You were always the lively, outgoing, and extroverted student everyone knew at school, effortlessly drawing attention wherever you went. Your charm, humor, and kindness made you popular, and it didn’t hurt that girls seemed to swoon over you more than they ever did over the boys.
You were tomboyish, smart, and playful—a combination that had both admiration and envy directed your way, particularly from the boys. After all, you could steal girls’ hearts with ease, becoming the school’s unofficial heartthrob.
"Y/Nnie, you got another confession letter, this time from..." Minji, one of your closest friends, paused to inspect the letter in her hand. "Kim something," she shrugged, tossing it onto your desk. It was already the third confession of the day.
Sighing, you put down your phone and picked up the letter. Though you received these love letters regularly, you still appreciated them, each one different in its own way. What you didn’t enjoy was the inevitable rejection that followed—figuring out how to let someone down without breaking their heart was exhausting.
"The handwriting is neat," you commented, scanning the page. "And the way they described my eyes? Not bad at all." You folded the letter and stuffed it into your bag.
Minji rolled her eyes, hopping onto the table. "You don't even know him, do you?" she asked, a sly grin on her face.
"'Him'?" You blinked, surprised.
"Yeah, him. It’s a guy." Minji confirmed, watching as your expression shifted into a frown.
You sighed again, already preparing your response. Men weren’t your thing. Ever since what happened with your father, you couldn’t bring yourself to trust them. That’s why dating girls had always been so much easier—you could be dominant, in control, the way you wanted it.
"Tell him I'm not interested," you said, leaning back in your chair and reaching for your phone.
"What? Why do I have to do it?" Minji scoffed, crossing her arms. "That's your job, not mine."
The classroom buzzed with the usual gossip and chatter as the two of you settled into the lull of scrolling through your phones.
"Oh, did you hear there’s a transfer student?" Minji added casually. You barely reacted, too caught up in your feed to care.
"She’s transferring into your class," Minji continued. Before she could elaborate, the classroom door swung open, and everyone scrambled to their seats as the teacher entered.
Curious, you put your phone away and straightened up, eyeing the unfamiliar girl who followed the teacher inside. She had wide doe, cat eyes, her hair neat and shiny, and she stood taller than most of your classmates. Her presence was quiet, but something about her intrigued you enough to look twice.
The teacher clapped his hands to get the class’s attention. “Settle down, everyone. We have a new student joining us today.” His tone was neutral, but the room was buzzing with curiosity.
You leaned back in your seat, your eyes flickering back to the new girl standing at the front. Her hands were clasped tightly together, betraying a hint of nervousness despite her calm appearance. You found yourself watching her a bit too intently—she had this quiet confidence, the kind that intrigued you, but also left you wondering what secrets lay beneath the surface.
“This is Kang Haerin,” the teacher introduced. “She’s new here, so I hope you all make her feel welcome.”
Haerin. The name felt soft, matching her gentle demeanor. Your eyes followed her as she scanned the room, her gaze landing briefly on you before she quickly looked away. Was it just your imagination, or did she look... uneasy?
“Go ahead and take a seat,” the teacher said, motioning to the empty desk a few rows ahead of yours. As Haerin moved toward it, you noticed a ripple of whispers spreading among the students. You weren’t the only one who’d been captivated by her presence.
Minji leaned over, whispering, “She's pretty cute, huh? Heard she transferred from Seoul or something.”
You barely nodded, still watching Haerin as she sat down, adjusting her hair behind her ear. There was something about her you couldn’t quite place—something that made your chest tighten a little.
As the lesson resumed, you found it impossible to focus. Your thoughts kept drifting back to Haerin, wondering what her story was. Why did she transfer? Why did she look so tense when your eyes met? You weren’t used to being thrown off by someone, but here she was, making you question things you hadn’t thought about in a long time.
When the bell rang for lunch, Minji was quick to pull you aside.
"Let’s go grab food, I’m starving," she said, dragging you out of your seat. But before you could leave the classroom, you felt a tap on your shoulder.
You turned to see Haerin standing there, her expression unreadable.
“Y/N, right?” she asked softly, her voice smooth but a little hesitant.
"Uh, yeah." You replied, trying to hide your surprise. How did she know your name?
“I—I just wanted to say hi,” she stammered, her fingers fidgeting with the strap of her bag. “You seem... popular around here.”
You blinked, caught off guard by the statement. It was rare for someone to approach you so nervously. Most girls were bold, confident, trying to catch your attention with flirty remarks or teasing grins. But Haerin wasn’t like that.
"Uh, thanks. Welcome to the school, I guess," you replied, trying to sound casual.
She smiled—just a small curve of her lips, but it felt genuine. Then, without another word, she turned and walked away, leaving you standing there with Minji watching the whole exchange, eyebrows raised.
“Hmm, weird,” Minji muttered. “New girl has guts. Didn’t expect that.”
You shrugged, trying to shake off the odd feeling lingering from your conversation with Haerin. But as you left the classroom, Minji linked her arms with you, leading you the way to the cafeteria.
The cafeteria buzzed with laughter and chatter, the familiar sound of students teasing each other filling the air. You sat with your group of friends, casually picking at your food and sipping your favorite drink. One of your friends cracked a joke, and you couldn’t help but burst out laughing, thoroughly enjoying the playful atmosphere.
But then, someone approached your table. Haerin.
She stood there with a shy smile on her lips, clutching her lunch tray. The conversation around you quieted as all eyes shifted to her—and then to you. She didn’t say a word, but the way she looked at you, seeking silent permission to sit down, which created a brief moment of awkward tension.
Clearing your throat, you reached for her tray, placing it on the table as an invitation. Haerin took the seat across from you.
"Hey, new girl—Haerin, right?" one of your friends asked. Haerin nodded, picking up her chopsticks and nibbling on her food.
It was clear she wanted to be near you, but there was a certain distance between her and everyone else at the table. Maybe it was just her shyness, or perhaps something more. When your friends tried making small talk, asking her a few questions, she responded with simple nods and shakes of her head. The lack of engagement left some of them visibly annoyed.
But you? You were the most intrigued.
You noticed how she kept making eye contact with you, her gaze lingering before darting away, like she was trying hard to maintain her composure but couldn’t quite manage. That amused smirk tugged at the corner of your lips—you were enjoying this little game of push and pull. It was the most excitement you’d felt in a while.
As the conversation drifted and your friends began goofing off, you leaned in across the table, your smirk never fading.
"We’re both sitting here, feeling..." You started, but before you could finish, Minji slumped down beside you, taking the empty seat next to yours. Her arm casually wrapped around your waist as she rested her head on your shoulder, her attention fixed on her phone.
Minji glanced across the table, noticing Haerin. She narrowed her eyes for a brief moment before offering a polite smile. "Hey, new girl," she said casually, before immediately returning her focus to her phone. She leaned in closer to show you something on the screen—a funny picture, judging by your stifled laugh.
Haerin, who had been unusually quiet, suddenly spoke up. Her voice was soft, but her words had an edge of determination. "Feeling what, Y/N?"
Her directness took everyone by surprise, their attention snapping back to her. It wasn’t the kind of tone anyone expected from her—especially not aimed at you.
You blinked, caught off guard, while Minji looked between the two of you, her confusion evident. Something unspoken was hanging in the air now, the tension palpable.
The silence that followed Haerin’s question was thick. You felt the eyes of your friends on you, waiting for your response, but it was Haerin’s unwavering gaze that held your attention.
You leaned back slightly, tilting your head as if to analyze her. That determination in her voice had caught you off guard. For a moment, you weren’t sure if she was challenging you or just curious, but either way, it made your heart race in a way you weren’t used to.
A slow grin spread across your lips. “Feeling curious,” you said smoothly, your eyes locked on hers. “About you.”
Your words hung in the air, and you could tell by the way Haerin’s posture stiffened that she hadn’t expected that response. The corner of her mouth twitched, as if she wasn’t sure how to react.
Before the tension could build further, Minji’s grip around your waist tightened slightly, her head still resting on your shoulder. “What are you two talking about?” she asked, her tone light but laced with something unspoken. Jealousy, perhaps?
You glanced at her briefly, your smirk fading just a little. “Nothing serious,” you replied casually, though you couldn’t shake the feeling that Minji’s sudden closeness wasn’t just random.
Minji gave Haerin a once-over before returning her focus to her phone, but the subtle shift in her demeanor wasn’t lost on you. Something was definitely off with her, but you couldn’t figure out what just yet.
Haerin, on the other hand, had composed herself. She lowered her gaze to her food, her expression unreadable, but there was a noticeable tension in her shoulders. Your curiosity deepened.
The cafeteria noise resumed, and your friends went back to fooling around, but your mind was elsewhere. Haerin had piqued your interest in a way you hadn’t expected, and Minji’s reaction only complicated things further.
As lunch neared its end, Haerin quietly gathered her tray. Without a word, she stood up and walked away, but not before glancing at you one last time. That look in her eyes—it wasn’t just shy anymore. There was something deeper, something that made you want to follow her.
But before you could act on that impulse, Minji’s voice cut through your thoughts.
“You’re not actually into her, are you?” she asked, her tone playful but with an edge of seriousness.
You raised an eyebrow at her, trying to read between the lines. “What makes you think that?”
Minji shrugged, still holding onto you tightly. “I don’t know. Just wondering.” She smiled, but it didn’t quite reach her eyes.
There it was again. That hint of jealousy. You could feel it creeping into her words, her body language. And for the first time, you began to wonder if Minji’s feelings for you ran deeper than friendship.
As the bell rang, signaling the end of lunch, you stood up and stretched, your mind racing with the possibilities. Haerin. Minji. The strange tension building between the three of you.
This was going to get interesting.
Tumblr media
After lunch, you and Minji headed to your next class, but your mind was still caught between Haerin’s strange behavior and Minji’s lingering possessiveness. It wasn’t long before you noticed someone else watching you—Hyejin, the class president.
Hyejin was one of those girls who seemed perfect at everything: top of the class, captain of the debate team, and effortlessly cool in a way that didn’t scream for attention but still got it anyway. You’d never paid her much mind, but today she seemed particularly interested in your interaction with Haerin. Maybe a little too interested.
As you slid into your seat, Hyejin casually walked over and leaned against your desk. “So, what’s going on with the new girl?”
You raised an eyebrow, caught off guard by her sudden interest. “What do you mean?”
She gave you a sly smile. “Don’t play dumb, Y/N. Everyone saw her sitting at your table, looking like she wanted to say more than just ‘hi.’ The whole cafeteria was buzzing about it.”
“Is that so?” you replied, leaning back in your chair. “Didn’t know it was that big a deal.”
Hyejin shrugged, but the way her eyes sparkled with mischief told you she wasn’t buying your nonchalance. “You have a way of stirring things up, you know that? First Minji practically glued to your side, now the new girl with those doe eyes of hers. You might want to watch out.”
You smirked. “Sounds like I’ve got competition.”
Hyejin’s smile widened, but there was something sharper behind it. “Just a friendly warning. Some people don’t take well to sharing.”
Her words hung in the air for a second longer than necessary before she sauntered back to her seat, leaving you with a new thought: Hyejin wasn’t just warning you out of kindness. She was clearly up to something, and you had a feeling this wasn’t the last you’d hear from her.
As class dragged on, you noticed more students glancing in your direction, no doubt fueled by Hyejin’s not-so-subtle observations. The attention wasn’t new to you, but today it felt different. The vibe in the room had shifted. Even Minji, who was usually content to banter with you throughout class, seemed quieter than usual, stealing glances at Haerin whenever she thought you weren’t looking.
By the time the final bell rang, you were ready to escape the growing tension. But as you packed up your things, you spotted someone else lingering near the door—Jisoo, your partner from last semester’s science project.
Jisoo wasn’t part of your usual crowd, but the two of you had gotten along well enough while working together. She was quiet, more of an observer than a talker, but when she did speak, it was with a sharpness that caught people off guard. Today, though, she seemed different. Nervous.
“Hey, Y/N,” she said, her voice lower than usual. “Can I talk to you for a second?”
“Sure,” you said, slinging your bag over your shoulder. “What’s up?”
Jisoo hesitated, glancing around to make sure no one was listening. “It’s about Haerin.”
You blinked. “The new girl?”
She nodded, biting her lip. “I don’t know her personally, but... I’ve heard some things. Back at her old school, she didn’t exactly have the best reputation.”
You frowned, curiosity piqued. “What do you mean?”
Jisoo leaned in closer, her voice dropping to a whisper. “Let’s just say she’s not as innocent as she looks. There were rumors—about her messing with people’s heads, getting close to them and then... turning on them. I don’t know how much of it is true, but I thought you should know. Be careful around her.”
Before you could respond, Jisoo quickly walked away, leaving you standing there with more questions than answers.
Haerin, with her quiet demeanor and shy smiles, didn’t seem like the type to cause trouble. But then again, everyone has secrets.
As you walked out of the classroom, you caught sight of Haerin standing at the far end of the hallway, talking to one of the teachers. For a brief moment, her eyes met yours, and that familiar unease crept back into your chest.
What was her deal?
Just then, a pair of arms snaked around your waist from behind, pulling you into a familiar embrace. You didn't need to look to know who it was—Minji. She rested her chin on your shoulder, her warmth sending a sense of comfort through you. But today, it felt different. She was being unusually clingy, and you could sense a certain edge in her tone when she spoke.
“Karaoke later?” she asked, her voice teasing but with an undertone of something deeper. “Seonhwa and the others are coming.”
You hesitated. On one hand, you had cram school later—something you couldn’t afford to miss—but on the other, hanging out with your friends sounded like the perfect distraction from the swirling confusion in your mind. You weighed your options, feeling Minji’s arms tighten slightly around you, as if trying to pull you in more than just physically.
“I don’t know,” you replied, unsure. “I’ve got a lot to do today.”
Minji’s grip didn’t loosen. Instead, she let out a soft sigh, her voice dropping to a low, almost coaxing tone. “Come on, Y/N, we don’t get to do this every day. Just this once. Please?”
Her persistence was hard to resist, as usual. You glanced over your shoulder at her pouting expression, knowing full well she wasn’t going to let this go. With a sigh of your own, you finally gave in.
“Fine,” you muttered, “but only for a little while.”
Minji’s face lit up with a victorious smile, and before you could react, she grabbed your hand, intertwining her fingers with yours in a way that felt far more intimate than usual. The closeness was something you’d grown used to over time, but today, with the weight of Haerin’s earlier gaze still lingering in your mind, it felt...different. Almost like a silent competition was brewing between the two girls.
As Minji led you out of the classroom, your thoughts were disrupted when you passed by Haerin, who was still standing by the door. The brief exchange of glances between you felt electric, as though there was an unspoken connection pulling you towards her, even as Minji clung to your side.
But then, out of nowhere, you felt a gentle tug on your wrist. You turned around, surprised to see Haerin standing there, her fingers still wrapped lightly around your wrist. Her eyes met yours, and for a moment, time seemed to slow.
Minji stopped in her tracks, her eyes narrowing at Haerin in a way that wasn’t just curious—it was almost territorial. “Can we help you?” Minji asked, her voice laced with annoyance.
Haerin ignored her and looked straight at you, her unreadable expression softening into a quiet smile. “See you tomorrow?” she asked, her voice so gentle, it sent a shiver down your spine. The smile she gave you—small and shy—was strangely comforting, and for a second, you forgot that Minji was still standing next to you.
Caught off guard, you returned the smile, a genuine half-smile that felt like the most honest reaction you’d had all day. “Yeah,” you replied softly. “See you tomorrow.”
The tension between the three of you was palpable as Minji let out a loud sigh, pulling you closer to her, almost as if to stake her claim. “Alright, enough with the sweet goodbyes,” she grumbled, lacing her arm through yours once more. “We’re late.”
With that, Minji practically dragged you away, but your thoughts were left behind with Haerin—her smile, her touch, and the lingering feeling that something about her was different. As you caught up with the rest of your friends, your mind kept wandering back to Haerin, and you couldn't shake the feeling that this was only the beginning of something far more complicated than you anticipated.
Tumblr media
The walk with Minji was filled with light chatter, but your thoughts kept drifting. Without thinking too much, you brought up the one question that had been nagging at you since lunch.
“So, what’s Haerin’s story? What happened at her old school before she transferred here?”
Minji paused, her steps slowing slightly. She seemed to consider it for a moment before offering a nonchalant shrug. “I don’t know all the details, but I’ve heard she’s bad news. Doesn’t seem like the friendly type.”
Her tone was casual, almost dismissive, but you couldn’t help noticing the subtle shift in her demeanor—the tension in her voice, the way she stiffened. It made you wonder if your question had struck a nerve. Was it curiosity or something else? A flicker of jealousy, maybe? Minji never liked to share your attention, but for now, she kept her emotions in check, hiding behind her usual playful facade.
Tumblr media
You arrived at the karaoke room soon after, the air immediately filling with laughter and music. The atmosphere was lively, as always, your friends singing and goofing off without a care in the world. Minji, though, had a different energy tonight. Whenever it was her turn to sing, her eyes found yours, and every love song she chose seemed to carry a hidden message.
It was subtle at first, but soon, it became impossible to ignore—the way her gaze lingered on you, her voice softening as if speaking only to you. And while you didn’t want to jump to conclusions, the intensity behind her eyes was unmistakable. You smiled, trying to play it off like you hadn’t noticed, but deep down, you knew. There was something more to her actions tonight, something she wasn’t saying.
But you couldn’t let yourself think about it. Not now. Your friendship with Minji was important, too much to lose over misinterpreting her signals. So, you decided to stay neutral, acting as if nothing was out of the ordinary.
As the night went on, amidst the laughter and off-key singing, Seonhwa suddenly brought up a familiar name, one that immediately caught your attention.
“Haerin,” she said casually, as if dropping a bomb in the middle of the conversation.
Minji’s eyes narrowed at your reaction, but she said nothing, simply watching you closely.
“I think that new girl’s into you,” Seonhwa added, glancing at you with a mischievous smirk. The others murmured in agreement, some laughing, some nodding.
Your heart skipped a beat at her words, but you played it cool, forcing a laugh. “Really? I don’t think so.”
Seonhwa wasn’t about to let you off the hook that easily. “Oh, come on. You must’ve noticed something. Or... is it that you’re into her too?”
You chuckled again, shaking your head in disbelief. “Are you crazy? I barely know her. It’s nothing.”
“Hmm, sure.” Seonhwa’s tone was teasing, but there was an edge to it that made you uncomfortable. Before she could push further, someone else chimed in.
“She’s weird, though. Off, you know? Definitely not your type.”
The conversation shifted again, as Seonhwa quickly moved on to another topic, but you were left with your thoughts. You stared down at your grape juice, swirling it absentmindedly.
Why did you care so much? You’d only just met Haerin, yet she was all you could think about. It was unlike you. The magnetic pull you felt towards her—this unfamiliar curiosity—was something new, something that unsettled you in a way you couldn’t quite explain. It was as if you've just discovered a part of you that you, yourself didn't even know existed.
And yet, for the first time, you found yourself wanting to know more.
Tumblr media
The morning sun filtered through the classroom windows as you settled into your seat. The usual buzz of students preparing for the day filled the room, but your thoughts were still wrapped around the previous night’s karaoke session. Haerin’s name, her curious eyes, and that inexplicable pull you felt towards her were on your mind.
As the day went on, you found yourself scanning the hallway for Haerin. The moments between classes felt longer than usual, and you were increasingly aware of how much you wanted to get to know her better.
Your chance came during lunch. As you walked into the cafeteria, you spotted Haerin sitting alone at a corner table, her lunch untouched as she flipped through a book. You hesitated for a moment, then made your way over.
“Hey, Haerin,” you greeted, sliding into the seat across from her. “Mind if I join you?”
She looked up, her eyes meeting yours with a soft, shy smile. “Of course. I was actually hoping you would.”
The conversation started off slow but gradually picked up. You learned that Haerin had a love for literature and was passionate about art, which was something you could relate to. You found her company surprisingly calming, and her quiet nature seemed to draw out a side of you that you rarely showed to others.
Days turned into weeks, and your friendship with Haerin grew. You’d meet up between classes, share stories, and support each other. You noticed Haerin’s subtle gestures of encouragement, especially when she caught on to your quieter moments and offered a listening ear.
During one of your conversations, Haerin brought up a topic that made you pause.
“You know,” she began, her voice gentle, “I’ve noticed that you seem to carry a lot with you. If you ever want to talk about it, I’m here.”
Her words hit you harder than you expected. The trauma from your childhood—seeing your father with another woman, the betrayal, the pain—it was something you never really spoke about. But with Haerin’s sincerity, the walls you had built around those memories began to crack.
“I appreciate that, Haerin,” you said, looking down at your hands. “It’s just… hard to trust people, especially men.”
Haerin nodded, her expression one of understanding. “It’s okay to take your time. I’m here for you, no matter what.”
Tumblr media
As the weeks passed, you found yourself opening up more to Haerin, sharing bits and pieces of your past. She listened without judgment, offering support that slowly began to heal old wounds. The bond between you grew stronger, but the romance wasn’t rushed. It was more like a gentle breeze, gradually building up over time.
Meanwhile, Minji’s presence remained a constant in your life. She continued to be clingy, but her actions were becoming more noticeable. She would often interrupt conversations with Haerin, subtly trying to draw you back into her orbit. Minji’s jealousy simmered beneath the surface, and you could sense it in the way she would look at you and Haerin.
One afternoon, after a particularly intense discussion about your past with Haerin, you noticed Minji waiting outside the classroom, arms crossed and a frown on her face. As you approached, Minji's gaze shifted between you and Haerin.
“So, you two are getting close, huh?” she said, her voice laced with a hint of bitterness.
You felt a pang of guilt but tried to stay calm. “Uh.. Yeah,"
Minji’s eyes narrowed, but she said nothing more. Instead, she pulled you aside, her voice dropping to a softer, more vulnerable tone. “I just don’t want to lose you. It feels like you’re drifting away.”
Her confession hit you harder than you expected. You had always valued your friendship with Minji, and the thought of losing her was unsettling. But at the same time, you couldn’t ignore the connection you were building with Haerin.
You took a deep breath and looked at Minji, trying to find the right words. “I’m not going anywhere. But things are changing, and I need to figure them out. I hope you understand.”
Minji’s expression softened, and she gave a small nod, though her eyes still held a trace of sadness. “Okay. I get it.”
As you walked back to Haerin, you couldn’t shake the feeling that things were becoming more complicated. Yet, with Haerin by your side and Minji’s support, you felt more grounded than you had in a long time.
The journey wasn’t over, and there were still challenges ahead, but you were ready to face them, one step at a time.
Tumblr media
In the days that followed, rumors about Haerin started spreading through the school. Students whispered about her past—how she was rumored to have bullied others and earned the nickname ‘liar and snake’ at her old school. The gossip seemed to grow darker with each passing day, and it wasn’t long before you heard it too.
Seonhwa was chatting about the rumors in the cafeteria, and you felt a pang of worry for Haerin. Without thinking, you rushed out to find her, but she was nowhere in sight.
Days turned into weeks, and Haerin still didn’t come to school. You became increasingly concerned, and then, things took a turn for the worse. Your own secrets were exposed.
When you walked into the cafeteria one day, the scene was chaotic. Papers were scattered all over—on the floor, tables, and even the walls. Each paper had your face and personal secrets printed on it. You froze when you saw a paper that said, “father cheated trauma freak,” with your picture on it.
Haerin was the only one you had ever shared that secret with. The betrayal was too much to bear.
As you stood there, feeling a mix of shock and sadness, Minji came over and patted your back. “Hey, it’s going to be okay,” she said, trying to comfort you. But the pain of the betrayal was overwhelming.
You grabbed some of the papers and crumpled them in your hands, your eyes filling with tears. The cafeteria, usually a lively place, now felt cold and hostile. You couldn’t see the faces of your classmates—they were all a blur as the tears flowed.
Minji noticed how upset you were and tried to offer more comfort. “Y/N, we’ll figure this out. I’m here for you,” she said, her voice filled with concern. But her words barely reached you through the fog of your emotions.
“Why would Haerin do this?” you wondered aloud, your voice trembling. “I trusted her.”
Minji looked at you with sympathy. “I don’t know. But we need to find out what happened.”
You nodded, feeling a mix of frustration and determination. The betrayal was deep, and the exposure of your secrets was painful, but you knew you had to confront the situation. The first step was to find Haerin and get some answers.
Tumblr media
Weeks had passed since the papers were scattered around the cafeteria. You were still dealing with the aftermath, feeling lost and overwhelmed. Minji remained by your side, offering support and comfort through your darkest moments. Her presence was a constant source of solace, and gradually, you started to notice a shift in your feelings toward her.
One evening, as you sat together, you found the courage to express how much Minji meant to you. “Minji, I’ve been thinking a lot lately,” you began, your voice steady despite the butterflies in your stomach. “You’ve been amazing through all of this, and I realize that I want to be more than just friends.”
Minji’s eyes widened in surprise, her face lighting up with joy. “Really? You mean it?” she asked, her voice full of excitement.
You nodded, smiling. “Yes. I want us to be together.”
The two of you started dating, and though you were happy with Minji, there was a lingering emptiness. It felt as though something important was missing from your life—a puzzle piece that had yet to be found. You continued with your daily routine as if Haerin had never been part of your life. Yet, the absence of her explanation gnawed at you, leaving you unsettled.
As the days went by, Minji and you grew closer in your relationship, but you couldn’t shake off the feeling that you needed closure with Haerin. The thoughts of her and the unanswered questions about the rumors lingered in your mind.
One day, while walking through a park, you unexpectedly ran into Haerin. She looked just as surprised to see you. “Y/N,” she said hesitantly, her gaze filled with uncertainty. “I didn’t think I’d see you again.”
“Haerin,” you said, your heart pounding. “I need to talk to you. I’ve been feeling like I need to understand what really happened.”
Haerin looked up, her eyes filled with a mix of sadness and relief. "... I’m glad you came,” she said softly. “I’ve been avoiding school because I didn’t want to deal with the rumors. They were so painful, and I wanted to stay away from the drama.”
You sat down beside her, listening intently. “I need to believe you, Haerin. The rumors were brutal, and my own secrets were exposed. I can’t understand why someone would do that, especially when I trusted you.”
For a moment, Haerin's eyes widened in surprise, as if she wasn't expecting hearing that your secrets have been exposed. She had no clue, but would you believe her? "W- what...?" she stammered, still in disbelief. But you only stared at her for a brief moment, taking a deep breath to steady the moment.
Haerin’s eyes filled with tears as she continued. “I swear, I didn’t spread those rumors. I don’t know who did, but it wasn't me. I'm as shocked as you when I heard about it. I think someone must have used my name to spread lies. I never meant to hurt you.”
The sincerity in Haerin’s voice gave you pause. You wanted to believe her, but doubts lingered. As you processed her words, another thought crossed your mind: Minji. She knew about your secret, and it seemed too coincidental for her not to be involved.
You listened intently, trying to make sense of her words. Doubt still lingered in your mind, but the thought: Minji had known your secret for a long time. Why would she betray you now?
Tumblr media
With a heavy heart, you decided to confront Minji. You arranged to meet her at a quiet café, the tension palpable between you.
“Minji,” you began, struggling to keep your voice steady, “I need to ask you something. Did you have anything to do with the rumors about me and Haerin?”
Minji’s face went pale. She looked down, her hands fidgeting with her cup. It was a brief moment of silence before she spilled everything about what happened—far from what you've expected.
“Y/N, I... I did it,” she admitted quietly, her voice breaking. “I was jealous. I couldn’t stand the thought of you being interested in someone else. I thought that if I could push Haerin away, you’d focus on me.”
The pain of Minji’s confession hit hard. The betrayal felt like a sharp wound. “Why, Minji? Why would you do this? You knew how much this secret meant to me.”
The reason you never talked about your past with just anyone was because you, yourself were insecure of not having the father to lead you like others. And with that being exposed with the reason of this... It was too much.
Minji’s eyes watered with tears. “I’m sorry. I let my jealousy get the best of me. I didn’t think about how much it would hurt you.” As she explained, how Seonhwa was also behind every rumour she made about Haerin and set her up, it was too much.
The revelation was devastating. You realized that the person you had trusted most had betrayed you out of jealousy. It was a bitter pill to swallow, but you knew you had to make a decision.
“I can’t be with you anymore, Minji,” you said, trying to keep your voice firm despite the sadness. “I need to focus on healing and understanding what’s right for me.”
Minji’s tears flowed freely, but you stood up, feeling a mix of sadness and relief. You needed to rebuild your life and find closure with Haerin.
After ending things with Minji, you reached out to Haerin once more. You both started to reconnect, and although it wasn’t easy, you began to rebuild trust. You spent time together, getting to know each other better and working through the past hurts.
Slowly but surely, your bond with Haerin grew stronger. The feelings of emptiness started to fade, replaced by a sense of understanding and companionship. The missing piece of your life began to fall into place, and with patience and openness, you found a new sense of peace and hope for the future.
After everything, rebuilding your relationship with Haerin was slow and delicate, but it felt right. You spent more time together, learning about each other, laughing at the little things, and healing from the wounds left behind by the rumors and betrayal. Each moment with her made you feel like a missing piece of your heart had finally been found.
"So, can you tell me what really happened in your old school?" You asked, taking a sip on your favorite beverage.
Haerin thought for a moment, then nodded. "Well, my mom had to work near here so she decided to transfer me on one of the schools," she explained and you nodded, still slightly surprised that her story was far from the rumours you've heard. "Seonhwa... She was my friend before, but things between us didn't end really well, so maybe she spread those rumours about me absentmindedly,"
She noticed that look on your face, making her giggle—a soft laugh that was infectious. It made you smile, "What? Why are you laughing?" You questioned, although the smile remained on your face.
"Nothing," she replied, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear, making you feel utterly speechless. Your stomach soon felt as if there were butterflies in it while you felt your face heat up—an emotion you didn't quite normally get. It was as if every time you were with Haerin, you keep discovering a new version of you that would have never thought would even exist.
There were times you and Haerin bumped into Minji in the halls. It was unavoidable at school. Each time, you'd catch her staring from afar, her eyes full of sadness and regret. You couldn’t ignore the heaviness of it all, but you knew in your heart that you had made the right decision. The awkwardness was there, but it didn’t consume you anymore. You had moved on, and slowly, Minji seemed to realize that too.
One day, as you and Haerin walked home from school, a gentle silence fell between you. It wasn’t uncomfortable. If anything, it was calming, the kind of silence that comes with being at ease in someone else’s presence. You thought about everything you had been through together, from the initial distrust, the rumors, to now—this peaceful, growing friendship. It wasn’t perfect, but it was real.
As you reached the park, you both sat down on a bench, watching the leaves rustle in the soft breeze. Haerin spoke first, her voice soft but sure.
“I’m glad we’ve come this far. I didn’t think we’d be able to, especially after what happened,” she admitted, glancing at you with a small smile.
You nodded, your heart swelling with emotions you couldn’t quite express. It was rare for you to feel this way—this close to someone again. And yet, something deeper lingered. A warmth that had been growing steadily within you.
Suddenly, without thinking, you blurted, “I like you, Haerin. I mean, really like you.”
Your confession hung in the air, a rare moment of vulnerability for you. It wasn’t like you to be the one to confess first, but this time, it felt different—like the right thing to do. Your heart pounded in your chest, but there was a strange relief in finally saying what had been on your mind for weeks.
Haerin blinked in surprise, clearly not expecting you to be the one to confess. A slow, wide smile spread across her face, and she let out a soft laugh. “You really beat me to it,” she said, shaking her head. “I’ve been wanting to say that too, but I didn’t know how.”
You both chuckled at the awkwardness of the moment, but it only made the confession feel more real, more honest. Haerin reached over and gently took your hand, her thumb brushing over your knuckles in a soothing motion.
“I like you too, Y/N. More than I’ve liked anyone,” she whispered, her voice sincere.
For the first time in a long time, everything felt like it was falling into place. The weight of your past traumas, the scars from Minji’s betrayal, and the confusion of your feelings all seemed to fade in that moment. Sitting there, with Haerin’s hand in yours, you felt whole.
As the days passed, you and Haerin continued to grow closer. It wasn’t always easy, and sometimes the shadows of the past crept up on you, but together, you found a way to move forward. There was laughter—plenty of it—small moments of joy in the chaos of school life, and the undeniable feeling of falling for someone who understood you in ways no one else had.
And while Minji still lingered in the background, her presence no longer held the weight it once did. You couldn’t completely avoid her, but the distance between you both had become bearable. Over time, even she seemed to find a way to move on, though the sting of betrayal would remain with you both for a long time.
In the end, you found something rare—something that went beyond just healing from the past. You found someone who made you feel like yourself again. With Haerin by your side, life was far from perfect, but it was yours, and for the first time, it felt like it was truly beginning.
And now, sitting on a bench with Haerin, giggling at teasing at each other, you felt content and mostly... You felt love. With all problems fading away, while Haerin had that small, shy smile—which made you reminisce on the first day you saw her. Maybe even then, you were already in love with her as it is, you just never found it out yourself until now.
As Haerin held your hand, staring at your eyes like the both of you did back on day one, you couldn't help but lean close to her, cupping her cheek with your other hand while the other was busy holding hers, intertwining fingers with one another.
She leaned into your touch and before you knew it, your face were inches away from hers. "Can I?" You asked, and with a split second-pause, Haerin nodded, her breath hitched upon finally touching your lips.
The kiss wasn't rushed at all—if anything, it was deliberate, passionate, and most importantly... It tasted like love.

that summer
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
draw me in your world, as you let yourself into mine let me be your safe haven, for I love when you shine
word count : 4.8k words
genre : fluff with a tinge of angst; your typical summer love story but haerin does not feel the same way you do for her?; runner! haerin x literature student! fem!reader; you are an overthinker and sometimes just wish you stop thinking
t/w : none :)
a/n : this is the longest i've ever written for a oneshot and honestly, i didn't want to split it up cause i wanted yall to feel the whole thing at one go. enjoy !
"haerin-ah, wait up!"
"you're just slow! we're gonna be late if we don't hurry!"
you swore you needed to wake up earlier to avoid having to rush to school, especially when haerin waits for you every day to walk together. at this point, the two of you had been running to class for three days in a row now, not walk. to your surprise, the girl has never complained or grumbled about how you would make her almost miss the bell. but then again, she's always been like that. haerin was never someone who wouid let out her anger on you or anyone in general. you've never seen her get angry, concluding that she just doesn't know how to.
the said girl turned her head around while not faltering in her rushed steps, making sure you're keeping up with her speed. but the thing is, she's the school's top runner and you barely pass your required tests for physical education. haerin knows, which was why she opted to drag you along by your hand. the sudden grab left you slightly taken aback. well, slight is an understatement, you were very taken aback. especially when you have the most obvious crush on her.
you've always had a crush on haerin ever since you were 12. it just happened so when she saved you from some bullies, aka silly boys, running away from them as you two rest at the neighbourhood playground after. she sat you on the swing while you cried in both fear and relief. but all the fear washed away when she flashed you a smile that you never forgot till this day. the way her eyes curved up and her snaggletooth showed with that big smile of hers, that's when you fell for her.
as you busied yourself in your own world, you once again arrived at the school gate right before they closed it off, with some students sighing at how they missed it by a split second behind it. a slow realization hit that you've ran to your limit, you tried taking deep breaths but it might have made it worse. sometimes you wished you were more athletic, for these kind of situations, and also to spend more time with haerin if you were in the track and field team.
"hey, try breathing with both your nose and mouth, it can help."
the girl in front of you looks unfazed, as if she just went for a relaxing morning jog. which isn't entirely wrong as you don't live too far from school. you stand up straight again, doing what she told you to. it actually did help but as she glanced at her watch, you understood what it meant.
"go on, don't be late for class because of me."
"it's fine, there's still some time. I'll go with you."
although you were very sure classes starts in 3 minutes, you didn't argue further as it just meant you get to spend more time although it's just minutes. when the two of you were put into different classes, the time spent together reduced drastically plus haerin's training after class on some days. it was just lunch and maybe weekends if she didn't have extra training. but you felt bad for wanting her to spend her only free day with you, so you try to refrain from jumping onto her bed during some weekends.
why is it so hard to just spend some time with her?
Tumblr media
lunch came. and that meant you get to see haerin again after the last time before classes started. at this point, you were just too infatuated with her that you were experiencing some sort of separation anxiety that you can't seem to quite explain. there's nothing you can do about it, you were just that in love with her.
but you did not guess for her to walk along to the cafeteria with him. him who? him, woonhak, the heartthrob who happens to be almost as good as haerin in the track and field team. everyone who sees them walking down the corridor would literally stop to look at how good they look together. it's to the point that they gush over the possible relationship they should have.
you were one of the people who'd look too, but you were always left slightly upset and heartbroken whenever you heard such comments. for sure, woonhak didn't do anything other than walk with her because he likes to ask and learn from haerin when it comes to running. there was no one to blame for your feelings except yourself. and at times, you just wished you could just like someone else cause the pain gets unbearable.
"hey froggie! how was class?"
it might sound like you're being selfish, but you wished haerin only ever smiles at you like that. that smile, the very same one you fell for and also the one that makes your heart clench a little. not to mention the nickname, it makes you feel as if she sees you nothing more than just a friend.
"the same. mr park is giving out work, again. I'm not surprised anyways."
"how about you?"
you swore you saw how her eyes sparkled a little when she started telling you about hers. but you don't feel that much good inside after.
"oh! you know woonhak right? him and I got chosen to be interviewed for a promotional video for the school."
"oh, him..."
"sorry, did you say something?"
"ah, yeah I know him."
"yup him, we agreed to meet on sunday to prepare ahead of the interview. I'm sorry if you wanted to come over."
"no don't be, it's fine. I can just work on mr park's project on sunday."
"but still, it feels weird that I won't be around."
"oh come on, it's literally just a few hours! and before you know it, you'll be back and I can come over if you want."
"this is why you're my best friend, I can always count on you."
well, that hurt a lot. you didn't know if it was intentional or just coincidental as she manages to throw your urge to confess out of the window every time it surfaces. all you could hope was that she didn't take notice of your feelings, or else you swear you'd never be able to face her again. the very last thing you need is for this friendship with her to shatter to the ground like glass. but you knew, the moment you fell for her, you were already walking on thin ice.
"what do they have for lunch today?"
"kimchi fried rice, today has your favourite strawberry milk."
picking up yours, you shaked it to tempt her to quickly go get hers and come have her food with you. and so she did.
whenever it came to her favourite food, she always looks like a cute little kitten who's hungry all the time. and when she spots them, she'd rush to get it and sit with you with an adorable smile plastered on her face as she eats or drinks away. you wish you were able to be someone who makes her that happy too, but along with those thoughts were the heavy consequences of your confession.
whatever you two have built throughout these many years will just shatter like glass, into fragile pieces that will not be able to be pieced together again. even if it could be pieced together again, nothing can stay the same.
for now, you'll keep it to yourself. nothing has shifted between you and haerin, so you shouldn't too.
Tumblr media
you have no idea what the hell you're doing right now. what kind of situation is this, you don't know.
"you told me we were gonna work on that project. as far as I know, this is not part of the project."
"I know, but just, we'll work on it after. for now, I just need you to accompany me."
"bro, this feels so illegal to be spying on someone."
"I'm just making sure that boy isn't doing anything to haerin."
"you know they're like the most shipped couple in school right? and woonhak's a really nice person."
"you never know."
all dani could do was roll her eyes at how dumb you look, she looks, with this so called disguise that barely covered their identity. she told you the shades were not it when it's practically indoors, and how it literally makes them stand out even more. at times like this, she questions herself why she's friends with you, and why she's willing to be in this with you. overall you were a great person, just not when you get too overprotective of the girl you love.
"if you're just gonna snoop around, you might as well just confess."
the moment you heard the word 'confess', the coffee you were drinking through your mouth came out through your nose. dani didn't know whether to laugh or help you wipe the table cause that was the reenactment of that 'the incredibles' meme of violet. maybe this was why she was friends with you.
"w-what do you mean?"
"you're too obvious to not notice each and every time you zoom out of class to have lunch with haerin. and zoom out again when the bell rings so you can head over to the gym hall to watch her practice."
"bro why didn't you tell me?!"
"tell you what? that you're like an idiot in love but the person you love doesn't seem to feel the same way?"
"I am not an idiot! but I definitely am in love..."
the mood suddenly shifted to somewhat gloomy as those words left your mouth. admitting that you had feelings for haerin to someone else for the first time didn't feel much extravagant than you thought. it wasn't that what you felt wasn't real or overwhelming, they very much were. but the thought of her not reciprocating them, broke you a little on the inside.
you've always imagined being by her side throughout university till the day you'd grow old and get a small house in the countryside. if it were the best friend context, things would have been fine. but you want to be there for her as someone she loves, too. as cheesy as it sounds, just the two of you against the world and no one can stop you.
reality begged to differ when you see how happy she is now as she picks up some clothes from the racks in a store. with woonhak smiling down at her. you couldn't deny that they look good together, way to good that it was believable if haerin told you they started dating after this date. the more you saw the two of them together, the more it was harder to imagine you being the one who would be making her happy.
although you've known her for so long, you weren't one to express your feelings through words. 'actions speak louder than words' was the motto you've lived with all this time. but this love thing takes more than that. being a literature student did not help with that vast range of vocabulary cause there was no point of preparing a confession. it has to come from the heart, and that's what makes it so hard.
"..."
"they left by the way."
your head whipped to the direction of the store they were in, and the last spot you saw them at was indeed empty.
"let's go then! you better saw where they are heading."
not even allowing dani to finish her chocolate drink, you dragged her along to chase after the two. they were definitely fast, very fitting to be in the track and field team. and dani did not sign up for this.
Tumblr media
in the end, dani had to drag you out of that mall before you ended up actually stalking those two poor souls. you were definitely not pleased with that decision but you two had a project to attend to, so you placed whatever that's disturbing to the back of your head. although it was sort of futile.
"well, at least we got half of this done, sorta."
"we can meet again tomorrow after school to finish it up if you want."
the australian squinted her eyes at you, as if trying to question your intention. she had the right to after what you pulled off today.
"for real, this time. I kinda want to get this over with and watch haerin practice."
"you better keep your promise."
giving a salute, all dani could do was chuckle at your attempt to lighten the mood with your antics. how can she not love someone like you when all you do was make everyone around you smile?
"hey, do you think it's possible that haerin would have feelings for me? even the slightest bit?"
"I don't see why not. you're a nice kid."
"the definition of nice is different for everyone, and so it is for me."
the older took a seat next to you on the bed, putting down her books on your study desk. when the topic about your feelings for haerin surface each time, you can't help but let your real self seep out a little, the happy-go-lucky facade faltering.
"you know, you don't have to be nice to be liked by anyone."
"but that doesn't mean I can be bad either."
"you know I don't mean it that way. it's just that, whether the person is nice or not, if you like them, you just do."
"that's true..."
it was feeling a little weird to talk about this with someone, but you were glad that it was dani. she was like an older sister figure that you could rely on whenever you needed her.
"you love haerin. and do you love her because she's nice? or because it's her?"
as you registered her words in your brain, you couldn't help but feel hopeful all over again, even after seeing those two at the mall today. maybe, they really are just friends. maybe, haerin does like you a little. maybe, you should confess.
you were so lost in your own thoughts that you couldn't feel the presence next to you, slowly clasping your hands. dani looked at you really endearingly, as if you were the person she cherished the most in the world.
"whatever you do, I'd be here to support, okay?"
giving her a reassuring nod and grin, dani's heart swelled at how your mood was lifted again. all she wants to see was you smile, regardless of who's behind it.
"FROGGIE!"
the shout from across your bedroom door grabbed your attention as your eyes darted towards it. as it swung open, the very person you two were talking about barged through to throw you into a hug. along with dani cause haerin knows her too.
"unnie! what are you doing here? the project?"
"hmm, we were just tidying up cause it's getting late."
the older slipped out from the embrace to finish packing her stuff to leave those two to their own world. maybe one day, she'd be able to find someone she loves too.
"bye unnie!"
"dani, I'll let you know what time tomorrow."
"yup sure, just ping me when you're done."
as dani left when she saw your thumbs up, you're tackled into another hug. you were wondering why she was being extra clingy after that date with woonhak. did woonhak confess to her? was she being shy about it? is she gonna tell you something? you were overthinking a lot of things and it wasn't a good sign cause that just means you're going to start doubting every single action haerin takes.
"I missed you."
you wish you would just disintegrate into dust at this very moment. everything that has happened today had already put your brain and feelings into overdrive. and for her to say this, made your heart feel heavier than ever. you didn't know why, it just didn't feel all that good although you did miss her too. but the words just can't seem to fall from your lips.
all you could do was look away and nod. because if you were to look at her, you think you are going to cry and confuse her even further.
"I should go shower first, it's been a long day."
"then we can cuddle!"
haerin slipped away from the embrace into your bathroom. with her belongings scattered around your room, it makes you feel even dizzier from all these crashing feelings. it's as if you are itching to confess to her or else you'd combust for real. that was why you could only keep your mouth shut, or everything would be over.
for now again, you try your best to act normal in front of her. for your own sake, for her sake, and to keep this friendship the way it has been this whole time.
Tumblr media
everything went on like normal. you and dani wrapped up that damn project mr park gave, having lunch with haerin every day, spending your time watching her practice, hanging out every weekend. but as haerin's competition was approaching, she spends more time at the gym hall, even during weekends at times. you can't blame her when she's the top in her team.
this competition was utmost important for her as many big companies scout at this particular one. meaning that if she does well, she may have a chance of signing with one. but that means that she would have to move to the city if that does happen.
you were afraid to lose her. sure, you two would still be friends even if she was miles away. so that's exactly what you're afraid of, staying friends. you knew you had no guts to confess to her anytime soon. if haerin leaves, you will still be here. you can't imagine how it will be without her, because you've spent your entire life with her by your side.
even today, you're in your room as haerin is training more as days are left till the competition. divided between confessing or not, you wrote down all the things you want to get for her on your laptop. the tomato frog that she loves so much, a printed sweater with a cat, a couple bracelet that she had her eye on last month. you remembered everything like you knew the back of your hand. it wasn't intentional, but you just did. not to mention that you had quite bad memory that you took a week to remember your seatmate's name.
you were going to do it. you were going to confess. it took you years to finally make that decision and you want it to be perfect. what did it mean by perfect, you don't know. it was your first time, but you just wanted it to be from the bottom of your heart. regardless of whether haerin would reciprocate the feelings, you came to an agreement with yourself that it was fine if she didn't. she was going to move away when she wins that competition so it would just mean that you two stay friends. friends who are apart from each other.
although it may take time to heal, it was going to be fine. not everything in life can go smoothly, and you were willing to take the risk. it was unfair for both you and her. you couldn't pretend any longer that you saw her as a friend, when the way you treat her is definitely more than one. and she deserves to know what you feel for her, with no secrets kept between the two of you.
D-10.
Tumblr media
"WOONHAK! GOOD LUCK!"
"YOU'RE GONNA DO GREAT BRO!"
"HAERIN-AH! SLAY IT!"
"HWAITING!"
screams and shouts from both sides of your ears were definitely gonna leave them ringing for some time. of course you weren't going to miss haerin's big day. you were beyond proud that she made it to the finals after beating her opponents in the semifinals. quarters were a piece of cake since she was a whole second ahead of everyone.
it was no doubt when she held the fastest record for 100m among the schools here. the agents definitely had their eyes on her the entire time, it just depends on who she chooses.
you didn't really like going out for events like these but she was an exception. although you weren't screaming your lungs out for her, you caressed that ring on your finger very dearly. the ring haerin got you when you two got into the same high school, calling it "the lucky ring". whenever there were big happenings, you'd wear it, feeling that she was with you through them. this time, you wore it so she could feel that you were with her.
"ON YOUR MARK."
the determination on haerin's face didn't go unnoticed even if you were nowhere close to the tracks. and when she flashed that smile at you before the whistle went off, you cried softly into your hands.
you love her so much. so much that this was going to be the last time you two were going to be friends. friends who grew up together, playing with puddles at the playground. finding restaurants to visit together. laughing at stupid videos in bed. taking pictures and videos of each other when one is sleeping. all those days were going to be a memory. a sweet memory for you to look back at after this day.
Tumblr media
reporters swarmed the winner of the competition, blocking the pathway for the others who could only sigh at their defeat. some were lucky with outstanding performance.
"could you tell us what's your future plans after this?"
"will you be signing with Krux? we saw their agent approach you personally."
"is it possible to know who kim woonhak is to you?"
"i'm sorry everyone but haerin will be heading off first, any questions will be answered by me."
the coach pushed haerin into the locker room before locking everyone outside with him. she let out the breath even she didn't know she was holding.
"so, who is kim woonhak to you?"
the noise was starting to die down outside as the reporters were led to a different room for interview. the silence was growing deafening as those words echoed across the empty room.
"you're my friend."
"damn, I really didn't have a chance, did I?"
"you know that very well. plus, there's a whole line waiting to date you so why waste your time on me?"
haerin couldn't bother, as she had something better to do and someone better to be with.
"sunbae, you do know I don't like you anymore right? not after you turned down my confession the other day."
"I was just making sure. I've seen too many of you playboys in action."
"oh come on, I'm not a playboy!"
woonhak was someone who was very responsive to teases, and haerin takes every chance she gets to tease the hell out of him. if anything, he was like a brother to her and she was like a sister to him. in fact, both of them decided to sign with the same company since they were offered. it was always good to have someone on your side in the sports world.
"I know, I was just messing with you. now get out, coach probably needs you."
"why me when the winner is right here chilling?"
"because you're gonna answer on my behalf."
the scene that was unfolding could easily be misunderstood if walked in at the wrong timing. and someone did just that. but what haerin didn't expect was that you walked in on them, seemingly laughing and smacking each other, like a couple. well, it did look like that to you at least.
you felt like you were interrupting something, so you dashed out of there as quick as you could. your eyes were stinging as the humid wind cut through your tears that were threatening to fall. although haerin was deemed the winner today, you were zooming past people faster than she could, as if in denial that you lost even before getting a chance to tell her.
it was getting more and more suffocating as the people around you were overwhelming. although you could breathe better when you reached the tracks, taking in the view of the vast field, it was too much that you had to hit your chest to let out some suppressed cries.
just as you felt slightly better, you felt a pair of arms swinging across your sides from behind, trapping you with them. you didn't even need to see who it is, as their scent invaded your senses, carrying familiarity with it.
"haerin-ah, congratulations! I'm so proud of you."
you turned around to bring her into a hug, but also hiding the fact you were crying because things were to change today.
"thank you, I wouldn't have done it without you."
"no, don't say that. you.. did it because you trained very hard for this. and you'll be achieving your dreams."
"you did do something for me, you were there for me. I saw you at the bleachers and that made me more determined to win."
"why are you crying, froggie? don't cry, we'll still see each other."
haerin cupped your face with her hands to wipe the tears off of your face. but that just hit the nail on the coffin, meaning that she would sign and leave for the city. which was now or never.
"haerin-ah."
"hmm?"
the endearing look in her face as she looks at you was more than enough to let you know she would be here for you no matter what. even as just a friend. although it was starting to rain, you knew you had to do it now. the words were getting stuck in your throat as it started to get dry. but, you were going to do it still.
"I love you."
"huh?"
the confusion on her face hurt you more than it should. you should know that she does not feel the same way you did for her. you should know that she was probably already dating woonhak after what you saw earlier. you should know-
"I love you too."
it was the first time you have ever seen that smile on her face. a grin so wide, it's like she's the happiest girl in the world. the most crescent eyes you've seen on her, as if she's staring at the girl she loves.
wait. she said she loves you too.
the sunshower was drenching the two of you but you couldn't give a damn about it. she said she loves you. she reciprocated your feelings. but you were having a very hard time trying to wrap your head around it.
"I love you too, you silly."
her laughter tickled your ears as you stood there frozen. your dumb reaction had her swaying you around with her in the rain as the sun was blinding through the droplets. just as she stopped to look at you again, you still had that bewildered face.
"I thought you were dating woonhak..."
"me? and that idiot? babe, you gotta be kidding me."
the sudden endearment had your cheeks flare up as you bury your head in her shoulder, in attempt to cover your face. but your ears were shooting bright red too, earning an earthy laughter from haerin, you could feel it through the embrace.
"so that means we're dating right?"
she looked at you with a shocked face before peppering kisses all over your cheeks.
"yes, of course froggie. unless you wanna get married."
the attempt at humor cracked both of you up, but you knew that was something you see happening in the future. but for now, everything was perfect. you were perfect, and haerin's urge to kiss you was too strong at that moment.
"can I kiss you?"
all you could do was nod and as her lips touched yours, that's when things were sinking in for you. your hands slowly draped over her neck as you pulled her closer to feel the longing for her warmth grow stronger. the sunshower painted over you and her, but you couldn't care less about what's around you when the most important person is in front of you. it was true that today was the last day you two were friends, but blossomed into a new beginning as each other's love.
as you pulled back to breathe, you two had your eyes closed, foreheads touching. although no words were exchanged, you knew, many more summers were to be spent with the love of your life.
it was the summer rain, the summer rain when haerin fell for you as you held her hand and ran in the rain back home.
that summer you fell for her too.

tw// swearing, blood, violence
the clock tower across campus struck loudly across campus, indicating the top of the hour. you rolled your eyes at the sound and wished they’d only use it during daylight hours instead of when everyone was trying to sleep. diverting your attention back to your laptop, you added a few more sentences to the Literature paper you were writing before closing the top. it was deep into the night so you quickly washed up and changed into pajamas before heading off to bed since you had a morning class. an hour must have passed when you jumped upon hearing a loud thud followed by a crash of items clattering to the floor in the room nearest yours. quickly, you sprang up and tried to open your roommate’s door which was locked from the other side. for a moment it was silent which only made you frantically jiggle the doorknob harder in an attempt to help the girl on the other side. loudly, you called out, “minji?! are you good bro?” from the other side of the door you could hear her cussing rapidly in english and korean in a hushed whisper. after a moment she called out, voice slightly strained, “yeah uh i’m fine. i just knocked over some stuff on my nightstand. i’m fine though you can leave.” you furrowed your brows in confusion before awkwardly answering, “uh.. um okay yeah. goodnight, i’ll see you in class tomorrow morning.”  right when you settled into bed you thought aloud to yourself, “what nightstand? we don’t even have those in our rooms?” however, you didn’t let yourself think too much of it and shrugged off the thought so you could go back to sleep.
˚₊𓆩༺🕷༻𓆪₊˚
the next morning you woke up and got dressed for class as you normally did but this morning minji wasn’t getting ready with you. instead of thinking too much of it, you told yourself she was probably sleeping in a few minutes longer. nine o’ clock rolled around and minji was still nowhere to be found so you went to her door and banged on it, LOUDLY. when there was still no answer you called out, “minji- bro come on we have our literature exam today! lets go!” for nearly two minutes you were calling out to her before you had to leave. minji wasn’t one to skip class so you just stuck with thinking maybe she got an earlier start and was already in class. the walk to the lecture hall was quieter than normal without minji by your side. your roommate’s daily spiel of gossip that she’d overheard from classmates was dearly missed at this early hour. the second you walked into your lecture hall, one of your other classmates, haewon, waved you over. she groaned and put down the book she was skimming in her hand, “god i can’t wait for this lesson to be over.” she pushed the text away from her in disgust, and you laughed, “well we have the exam today, and the paper due next class so it’ll be over soon!” she looked past you a bit then asked, “wait where’s minji?” you craned your neck and squinted to try and see if she was in the large lecture hall but she still hadn’t shown. with a shrug you responded, “i don’t know. i thought she was already here but i guess not.” haewon pulled out her phone and frowned, “she hasn’t texted me either…” before the two of you could do anything else, your professor entered the classroom with a thick packet of exams. your stomach wound itself into knots at the realization that minji would be missing this exam. she had already missed class six times this semester, so this absence would be the one to make a failing grade for the semester. when your professor got to your row with the exams in hand, she looked at the empty seat next to you with a face of disapproval. you awkwardly gave a weak smile and passed the packets down your row before starting on your own test.
half an hour passed leaving 45 minutes left in the class before you all had to leave. from the looks of your other classmates, this exam was a tough one. beside you, haewon was sound asleep with her exam under her arms. you looked up at the door when you heard rushed footsteps and labored breathing, followed by the door closing. minji rushed up to her seat and sat down, not sparing a second to catch her breath before starting her exam. her appearance was slightly more dishevled than she’d normally deem acceptable but you remained silent. for the rest of the exam period you worked on the test trying to match paces with haewon and minji so that the two of you could leave together at the end. despite arriving thirty minutes late for class, minji managed to complete her exam in fifteen minutes, before you and haewon. not even a minute after the three of you exited the classroom you demanded, “bro, where the hell were you this morning?” haewon agreed and added on, “yeah and why are you dressed like adam sandler?” the two of you onced over the oversized t shirt and baggy basketball shorts that she sported with a pair of sneakers you’d never seen before. you wrinkled your nose and added, “and why do you smell like a burnt gas station?”
minji shrugged off your questions as nonchalantly as she could, “there was an emergency at HQ and they called me in to help-” you cut her off, “wouldn’t they just call someone else? you don’t even work there?” minji’s cheeks flushed at the realization that you had a point and she quickly explained, “it was one of those ‘all hands on deck’ things. i was available to help so i did. anyways, i was tired so i stayed with a friend who lived nearby, and i had to borrow some clothes. and i was fixing hanni’s car again, it stopped on the side of the road because she forgot to fill it with gas, it’s not a big deal.” you pretended to be unbothered by the remark but something about the slight limp she had and bruises on her legs made your stomach wind into knots. when you looked back up at her face she caught your eyes lingering on her shins with a slightly uneasy stare. nervously she laughed, “lets go to JavaBean before our next class, my treat.” haewon was already linking arms with you and tugging you along, happily murmuring, “i love that she has that new internship with Samsung. i don’t have to pay for stuff anymore because she keeps treating us.”
haewon turned her phone around and showed you and minji the screen, “did you all see this? that spiderperson stopped a bunch of people from robbing a bank downtown last night! they released the footage this morning.” you watched as the masked assailents attempted to take on the local hero all at once. from the corner of your eye you could see minji shifting uncomfortably in her seat as she watched the video. you looked at her and asked, “isn’t this place right by the samsung building you were at last night? and the footage says it happened around the time you were out. did you see anything?” minji’s eyes widened and she looked down at her iced latte, “no i was inside the building working. we heard the sirens but i didn’t see anything besides police cars up from the windows on my floor.” haewon pouted and said, “damn i wish you’d seen something. i wanna know who this hero is- they’re kinda hot.” you and minji choked on your iced coffees and you laughed, “they wear a mask, you don’t even know if they’re actually hot.” haewon explained, “i mean the act of kicking ass in a spandex suit is hot. but i wouldn’t be surprised if they were good looking too. i’ve seen movies.” minji laughed and shook her head before you turned your attention back to the video. you noticed the way the hero crumpled to the ground when one of the robbers kicked their left knee, coincidentally the same one minji had been babying all day.
at the end of the school day you found minji in the main room of your shared apartment with her laptop over her lap, and chemistry papers scattered around the coffee table. the second she noticed your presence she slammed her laptop closed and scrambled to gather her papers and tuck them away. you furrowed your brows and awkwardly laughed, “why are you acting like a 12 year old getting caught on a 18+ website?” minji’s face was flushed red with panic and she tried to play it off, “just some uh…classified work stuff that’s all?” you pointed to her laptop, “and you’re doing highly classified work on a school laptop connected to public wifi?” minji rolled her eyes and shoved her computer into her backpack without a response, clearly having gotten caught in her lie. your gaze shifted to her legs where she now wore a pair of sweatpants, your sweatpants to be specific. her long sleeved t shirt rode up on one of her arms and your stomach formed a pit when you noticed small scratches and bruises along her skin.
“what happened?” you asked, motioning to her arms with a curious but stern glance. minji quickly tugged her sleeve down and murmured, “nothing, don’t worry about it.” for a moment you almost let it go but decided otherwise knowing whatever was happening would continue if you didn’t try to help. you insisted, “no. you need to tell me what the hell is going on.” minji gave you a confused look and you persisted, “this whole thing where you’re disappearing late at night and not coming home? you keep blowing me and haewon off, not to mention that girl hanni came here the other night in tears thinking something happened to you because you hadn’t answered her calls in a week. why the hell do you keep coming back beat up and bruised?!” minji felt her face heat up and she immediately responded much more defensively than before, “i said don’t worry about it.” she got up and pushed past you before slamming her door, shaking the entire apartment with the force.
for hours you tried to rationalize why minji was suddenly keeping so many secrets from you. what the hell was so secretive about a technology company internship, and why was it that she was only working on projects at night? the more you thought about the whole thing the more stuff started to make less sense. two weeks passed and you noticed minji coming in and out of your dorm at late hours, or just not coming home at all even more. although it wasn’t unusual for her to disappear during the night but you brushed it off knowing that she had that high demand, super prestigious Samsung internship. your suspicions only started to rise further when her bruises and bumps were too noticeable to hide. minji was more closed off towards you and all of your friends and you just missed your roommate, the dork with a 9:30 bedtime, a hermit crab collection, and a love for harry potter. so naturally you decided that you were going to figure out where she was constantly disappearing to since she wouldn’t ever give you a direct answer.
minji left your apartment around 9:00 pm with the excuse of going out to meet a friend for the night, and potentially spending the night. you opened the find my iphone app on your home screen and opened it to see where minji really was. sure enough she was not at a friends house and actually in some old warehouse downtown. you followed the gps to the location and mumbled quietly to haewon who was on facetime, “what would she even be doing over there?” haewon shrugged and answered, “maybe she knows someone in there, you know that place is full of squatters.” you rolled your eyes and said, “she only talks to four people including us and her uncle. i’m not close with that hanni girl she’s friends with but i don’t think she squats in an old metal factory. but i’m here so i’m gonna hang up.” haewon told you firmly, “okay but if anything happens you need to leave okay?” you nodded and hung up before tucking your phone into your pocket.
there was nearly no light inside of the old factory, just a few yellowed bulbs illuminating a few feet ahead of you. broken windows offered rays of moonlight to pool where the bulbs couldn’t, making it only a bit brighter. you pulled your black hood over your head and tucked yourself into a dark corner of the factory just to see if minji was actually there. a group of burly men were huddled together around the center of the floor, taunting a smaller figure between all of them. when one of them moved you saw the familiar carnelian red and navy blue spider suit peeked from the middle. you gasped and felt your heart sink as the men tormented the hero who was already in bad shape. instead of staying you looked at your phone to see that minji’s location was now somewhere else in the city. despite wanting to stay and possibly help the young hero, you knew that it was safer for you to sneak out the way you came in. quickly, you hustled down a flight of stairs and slipped out one of the broken walls into a dark alleyway that would lead to a main street after a few blocks. as you walked down the street you turned back when you heard a blood curdling scream, it sounded all too familiar but you turned back and listened to haewon’s advice, hoping to the heavens above the person screaming wasn’t your best friend.
˚₊𓆩༺🕷༻𓆪₊˚
walking alone at night in this sketchy part of town wasn’t ideal but public transit wasn’t running at this hour and you weren’t paying for an uber because it wasn’t cheap. you could feel a pair of eyes on you despite nobody being around so you quickend your steps. just as you were about to break into a run a man jumped out from the darkness and blocked your path. there was a sinister smile on his face as he asked, “what’s a pretty thing like you doing out alone at this hour?” you swallowed your fear and stood your ground best you could, “going home. now, excuse me.” you tried to slip by him and the wall just for him to pin your body against it, causing your breath to hitch in your throat.
the man’s face was inches from yours, his breath smelled of cigarettes and alcohol as it ghosted your lips when he smiled, “what’re you doin sweetpea?” you looked him dead in the eye and kept a stoic face before jamming your knee upwards, hitting him straight in the groin. he stumbled back and staggered onto the ground and you looked over him before kicking him in the same spot, adding one hard stomp after just for good measure. you then took off running, hearing him suddenly yelp you turned around to see the local hero in the spider suit shooting webs at him, sticking him to the alley wall. your eyes met the hero and you heard them yell, “run Y/N!” you didn’t even waste another second before you ran all the way back to your apartment, locking the doors behind you and barracading the door. it was after you took a shower and changed into your pajamas that you realized the masked hero said your name, and suddenly it all clicked. to test your theory, you needed solid, undeniable proof that your roommate was not who she said she was.
you peeked into minji’s room through the cracked open door she had and you smiled seeing her window was in fact open. that’s definitely how she was getting in and out of your apartment every night without opening the front door. without wasting a second you pulled the window closed and locked it as tight as you could with a satisfied grin on your face. all you had to do now was wait for minji to get back home.
˚₊𓆩༺🕷༻𓆪₊˚
hours passed and after one long and surprisingly painful mission, minji was finally rushing back to your shared apartment. she sprinted across the grassy quad as quickly as she could, praying that nobody was going to be outside at this time of night. she frantically attempted to use her web shooters to swing up into the trees, her usual and most secretive way of getting around. however, after the fights she had last night and tonight, she knew it was a long shot. the teenage superhero smiled when she heard a familiar click, but it fell when her web shooters released a thin, miniscule amount of webs that wasn’t even the size of her arm. she cursed under her breath knowing she’d had to fix that before going to sleep, but all she wanted now was to get back into her room. finally she got to her dorm and looked up at her window which sat on the fourth floor of the dorm building you both were assigned to. she began climbing up, wincing as pain seared through her entire body but specifically on her abdomen where a nasty gash was still leaking blood.
a feeling of dread washed over her when she realized her window was both closed and locked which she never did. she will admit she’d been out of it recently, forgetting to do some school assignments, showing up to club meetings, and she’d even screwed up on tonight’s mission resulting in the bloody wound on her side. the feeling of dread was replaced with panic when she heard a couple of students walking a short distance away. there were only a few seconds to spare before she was spotted so she scanned the floor to see if any windows were open. she saw yours, wide open just asking for her to enter. minji held her breath, hoping and praying that you would be asleep tonight. she quickly crawled through your window and up your walls onto the ceiling in an attempt to exit through your door to her room. the superhero made it to the middle of your ceiling when your light flicked on and you gasped, “ahh! what the fuck?! what the fuck? what the FUCK?!” you yanked the broom from your closet and started smacking the masked individual on your ceiling with it. just like a real spider, minji quickly dashed from one side of your ceiling to another, almost making it out of your room. that was until the broom jammed right into her abdomen, making her scream in pain and fall onto your floor with a loud thud.
you immediately reached forward and snatched the mask off her head, ready to swing the broom on the stranger again and call the police. a small gasp left your lips when you realized it wasn’t a stranger but rather your own roommate of a year. she had her eyes closed in pain while tears pricked the side of her eyes, getting ready to roll down her cheeks. blood ran from her nose, purple and blue splotches peppered her brow bone, jaw, and cheek, while a cut over her lip had a thick patch of partially dried blood. you looked at her carnelian red suit that was darkening over her stomach area. her hand pressed over it and you urgently moved, “oh my god- minji!” she weakly smiled through a wince of pain, “hey, y/n.” you looked down at her and brought your hands to your head, “holy shit i was right- oh god- ok um…shit you’re bleeding on my rug.” you bent down to help her up, taking most of her body weight onto yourself while she hobbled with you to the bathroom. minji winced once more and you onced her over, “you need to take that off so i can clean your stomach.” immediately minji refused, “no i’m fine it’s just a little cut. you can go to sleep y/n, it’s fine. this is nothing new.” your heart clenched at hearing her last words but you were adamant, “no i’m helping you. minji, you can’t even stand up straight. so take it off so i can help you.” she sighed in defeat knowing that there was no point in trying to refuse because you wouldn’t let up, and honestly she did need help this time. minji pressed a button on her suit causing it to quickly retract up her arms and legs, leaving her in what was now a form fitting tank top and biker shorts version of her suit.
minji placed her hand on her side, applying pressure to the cut before you gently lifted her onto the countertop of the bathroom. she shifted uncomfortably for a minute while you grabbed a handful of bandaging pads, gauze, and medical bandage tape. when you came back you carefully lifted her top to expose the wound. a small whine of pain left minji’s lips as you peeled the material from her bloodied skin. once that part was done you rinsed it with water, minji gripping onto your shoulder so she didn’t interfere with your help. while you cleaned it, you stated, “if it was any deeper i would’ve had to take you to the ER.” she remained silent at the remark, instead focusing on the way your hands tenderly took care of her wounded body. the teenager hissed as you began to dress the wound with layers of gauze and bandaging tape, throwing her head back to prevent tears from falling. afterwards, you placed small bandaids over the small cuts on her brow bone, temple, and jaw. minji could feel your eyes skimming her arms and legs, looking at the varying scars decorated with new bruises that she’d gotten in the past year. however, she was surprised when you didn’t mention a single word about any of it. instead, you finished up and said, “just avoid getting those wet when you shower, drink water and eat, and let your body rest. alright?” the superhero nodded and you said, “okay, i’m done. good night, i’ll see you in the morning.” minji mumbled a shy, “thank you” under her breath to which you smiled and assured her, “it’s no big deal.”
you turned around to leave and minji grabbed your hand, “i’m spiderman or girl or woman or whatever. but it’s me.” slowly you turned to face and looked into her eyes, “minji, i know.” she sighed and pulled you closer to her as she still sat on the bathroom counter, her legs wrapped around your torso to keep you close, “no- i know that i just don’t want there to be any more secrets. i can’t keep lying to you.” she pulled your arms to rest on her shoulders as she held your waist and you prompted, “so what else should i know about my spiderwoman?” butterflies erupted in minji’s stomach and she cracked a smile through her split lip, wincing when it hurt slightly. she ran her knuckles along your side and she started, “i can shoot webs from my suit, i can crawl on walls, i’m pretty fast and i’m stronger than regular people, i heal faster so all of this will be fine tomorrow mostly, i have enhanced balance and reflexes, and i get this tingly feeling when i feel like there’s impending danger.” you looked at her asking for more and she continued, “i do really work for samsung though just not in the engineering program like you and haewon think. it’s this classified project so as much as i want to tell you more, i can’t because i don’t know much either right now."
you asked, "what about the day you came in late for the exam? why'd you smell like gas and ash, hanni has a tesla and that doesn't take gas. and what happened to you that day you were there in the alley? i saw you in the factory too." minji sighed and admitted, "i saved a man from a burning car on the side of the highway. they stabbed me in the factory which is why i screamed, and i had a feeling something was going wrong in the alley after i escaped the factory. but that’s all of my secrets i promise. no more secrets, okay?”
brushed a stuck hair from minji’s forehead and nodded, “no more secrets, huh?” she hummed in agreement and you told her quietly, “i have one.” minji’s eyes found yours and you cupped her face with your hand, “i really like you, more than a friend.” minji broke out into a smile and responded, “i really like you too.” you asked almost as if you didn’t believe her, “yeah?” she nodded eagerly, “yeah.” minji leaned foreward and pressed her head against yours, you placed a gentle kiss on her forehead then you pulled away and looked at her, both of you sharing a similar glance, “don’t tell haewon.” the two of you bursted into laughter and minji leaned forward pressing a gentle kiss to your cheek.

Note
hi; could you do newjeans fav thing about you (their partner)? loving your works btw
Hi! Sorry for the long wait, but I hope you enjoy this!
(Hyein’s is short and platonic of course)
Favorite Thing w/NewJeans
Tumblr media
Minji
Tumblr media
Minji’s favorite thing about you would definitely be your voice. She swears she could listen to you talk for hours. Absolutely loves your part in their songs. Wouldn’t let anyone talk over you, ever. She would just love your voice so much, and as a result she obviously listens to every word you say.
It’s not much of a shock that her favorite part of your relationship, is all of your long talks. Which are a little one-sided. She really does try to maintain a good conversation with you, but usually she just listens to you for hours.
Some may call her whipped. And she’d probably agree, but in her defense, who wouldn’t listen to the person who put the stars in her sky. Who wouldn’t fall in love with your voice, it was no wonder to her that you were a singer.
Hanni
Tumblr media
Her favorite thing about you is your cuddles. Would definitely be attached to you like 24/7. Most mornings you’re probably found in one of your beds, tangled up in each other. In her opinion, it’s the best place to be. She always feels so warm and safe whenever she’s in your arms.
Every break she would definitely be found in your arms. Dance breaks, music video breaks, even during breaks between recording, she would wrap your arms around her. Even if you were busy doing something, she would just run up behind you and hold you in her arms. She just wants needs to be close to her jagi at all times.
No matter where she went, she would be attached to you. Not just handholding, like literally wrapped around your arm. If it’s been longer than 24 hours without you, you’re not leaving her arms for a minimum of 6 hours. But of course you wouldn’t mind, after all the best thing in the world is having your jagi in your arms.
Danielle
Tumblr media
The sunshine that she is, it only makes sense that Danielle’s favorite thing about you is your beautiful personality. When you two are together, it’s seriously hard to not smile. You guys light up every room you enter. There’s never a bad day as long as you guys are together.
Everywhere you guys go, you would end up drawing eyes, not just because you guys are both beautiful, but because your infectious smiles can’t help but spread. You guys have the ability to make even the darkest of days, light up.
She revels in your personality and you revel in her sunlight, you guys are the perfect match. She just loves being around you, you guys don’t even have to talk all the time, just being with you, makes her happy. It’s just something about you, it makes her heart feel that much more full.
Haerin
Tumblr media
She would most definitely love your eyes. It’s not shocking that she would spend most of her free time staring into them. Even if it does startle you sometimes. But who could blame her, your eyes are absolutely gorgeous.
Seriously, they’ve pointed out on many shoots. Of course much to Haerin’s enjoyment. She swears that she could get lost in your eyes (and she has). The worst part of falling asleep with you, is that your eyes shut.
However she especially loves seeing you experience new things, the way your eyes light up. Being new to Korea, she loves that she gets to show you all these new things and create new memories with you. Even if you guys have gotten lost a… handful of times, it’s all worth it to see your eyes light up.
Hyein
Tumblr media
She would most certainly admire your dedication to your work the most. To her, it is truly amazing just how much you love to work. The hours that you spend perfecting the dances and practicing singing are truly so admirable to her.
It just shows how loyal you are, to her and the group. She absolutely loves it about you.

THE WALL
there are many walls in kang haerin's life. she'd overcome many of them. except this one. but this time, she'll make sure she succeeds.
tags: kang haerin/fem!reader. fluff. 1.5k words
warnings: none
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
kang haerin sat beside you, mumbling a small greeting. just like she did ever since you were children. but this time countless pairs of eyes follow her around, and in extension, you.
“i guess even famous idols can’t escape the grasps of geography.” a grin that haerin missed adorned your face while she let a tiny smile graze her lips.
the cat eyed girl took out her books. your presence eased her from the swarming students wanting a picture or an autograph. at that moment, haerin felt two thick walls.
one that separates the both of you from the outside world, a shield from prying eyes. a little space where its just you and her.
another one, an old wall dating way back when you both met at a playground divides you and her. a wall she’d been dying to overcome, break and burn just to be with you on the other side.
“yeah. but i thought how you’d like to see my perfect handwriting in person.”
“yeah. but i thought how you’d like to see my perfect handwriting in person.”
“yeah. but i thought how you’d like to see my perfect handwriting in person.”
“yeah. but i thought how you’d like to see my perfect handwriting in person.”
“you’re such an idiot.” haerin shook her head, her smile never faltering. the teacher entered before you reply something even more ridiculous.
a comfortable silence engulfed between the two of you. haerin sneaked glanced at you only for you to catch her eyes and flash her a genuine smile. the idol looked at her lap in hurry to hide her red cheeks.
the idol understands it might a long time before she can attend school and see you again. her schedules wouldn’t get any looser in the future.
sure, you both chat when you send her notes or assignments she missed. you call to explain a problem she couldn’t understand. but haerin wants more. something more intimate than trying to understand a scientific concept.
“do you wanna come by my dorm later?”
you wouldn’t have heard her if you were paying attention to the lecture. but this time there was no need to jot down notes if the only reason you do them is sitting beside you.
“i missed too many classes to comprehend your notes. can you explain them to me?”
you stared at her a little bewildered. kang haerin is smart girl, no other person in this planet is able to understand your messy notes other than her. and now she wants you, a failing student, to explain something to her.
after all, taking notes and understanding it are two very different things. for you, at least.
“yeah. sure, of course.” you wanted to say how you’re absolutely sure you’d be zero help or ask if her members are okay with you there.
but you were scared you asking would make her double guess and you couldn’t afford to mess up a chance to be with haerin.
“great. i’ll text you the address.”
this is it. the first step into breaking that wall.
Tumblr media
haerin first laid eyes on you when you were both children. she'd left ms. kero, her frog plushie, at the playground. but when she came back she saw you kissing it.
imagine her shock when she found a stranger smooching her favorite plushie. it was the first time she'd actually been horrified in her life.
the look on your face when the realization that you got caught hit was nothing less than petrified. moments passed with just the two of you staring at each other, your small hands still clutching the soft plushie.
suddenly, haerin dashed towards you.
"look-i can explain! it's not what it looks like!" you shouted while your feet scrambled to run away.
"get away from ms. kero, weirdo!" haerin chased you with surprising speed for a six year old. she was too fast and you were too slow. she had managed to caught up to you in no time. you fell backwards into the sand, her tiny figure towering over yours.
"i watched the princess and the frog yesterday ok!" you plead with your eyes closed and hands over your face. six year old haerin was really intimidating.
"what has that got to do with anything?" her eyes narrowed at you and you found yourself taking a large gulp of saliva.
"i-i thought she'll turn into a pretty princess if i kissed her," you admitted embarrassedly. it seemed like a good idea at the time. but now that you got caught red handed, not so much. "here, you can have it back."
haerin stared at the squishy toy in your hand, slightly disgusted. she snatched it from your grasp and wiped every single inch of it with the hem of her shirt.
"it might have weirdo virus," haerin muttered, turning away from you.
"stop calling me weirdo. i was just testing out if the movies were true!" you whined, standing up and shaking the sand clinging to you. then following haerin around her like a lost puppy around the play ground.
"of course, it wouldn't happen. you'd need an evil magician to curse her first," haerin replied, studying the toy closely for any traces of you. "and i wouldn't let anything like that happen to ms. kero"
"im sorry i kissed ms. kero," you looked at the ground, your hands behind your back.
"let's be friends?"
"only if you stop kissing ms. kero. it's really weird."
haerin's little hands met your extended ones and shaking it gently.
she didn't know it back then but that was the first time the wall appeared. six year old haerin had no way of knowing you'd make her heart beat faster and her cheeks redder no matter how many years pass by.
Tumblr media
“woah. its like a penthouse!” you gaped as you removed your shoes at the entrance. you followed haerin to the living room like a lost puppy.
“sit anywhere you want. would you like something to drink.” haerin asks, she stopped her hands from fidgeting. she wouldn’t want you wondering why she’s nervous over something as simple as studying. “uh—whatever you’re having is fine.”
meanwhile, you sat stiff as a rock at one of the most comfortable couches ever. when haerin comes back, you’d have to teach her shit you know nothing about.
you would have succeeded embarrassing yourself and this study date—study session would be over before you know it.
“you look like you've seen a ghost. don’t worry, all the members are out.” before you know it, haerin came back with a couple of orange juice.
haerin lay her books down at the coffee table. while you dragged out taking a notebook as long as possible.
“whats wrong?” haerin looked at you pointedly. inside, alarms blare in her head. did she do something wrong?
“its just—” you scratched the back of your neck sheepishly. “i mean i don’t understand why you’d ask for my help. if anything i should be asking you.”
“then, we’ll study it together.” your eyes widen as she scooted an inch closer to you. you looked at the textbook she placed in front.
“oh come on, chemistry? really?” haerin giggled at you, opening it to a certain page.
and sure enough, you taught haerin nothing. in fact, haerin ended up teaching you. a lot.
“see, you’re better at this than me. did you even need my help in the first place?” you say as you spin a pencil between your fingers.
“no. i just wanted to spend time with you really.”
your hands stopped and your body turned rigid. haerin felt her breath hitch, dying to know your reply.
you turned towards her, visibly shocked. haerin is scared she just messed your friendship. if worse comes to worst, she’s ready to clarify that she wants to spend time with her bestfriend. but she didn’t want for it to come to that.
“why didn’t you just say so?” you complained loudly. and haerin smiled, her eyes in a crease. and the sight of it made your heart soar.
“we could’ve watched a movie or something. my head hurts—” your ramble was cut short when you felt soft lips on your cheeks. haerin pulled away with a blush.
“shut up. we’ll watch a movie after this problem.”

Midnight -Kim Minji x Fem reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Scenario: Its midnight and Minji is up because you stopped cuddling her in your sleep.
Genre: Fluff ❄️
Very short :P
You fell asleep in Minji’s arms leaving her helpless as she refused to move, too afraid to wane you up. Sometime in the night you rolled out of her arms and in a ball on the other side of the bed.
Ever since the two of you started dating months ago, you’ve been inseparable. Despite how many classes Minji has to attend she always ended up back in your arms at the end of the day. She was a odd ball, as she had her moments where she didn’t wanna cuddle or hug, but then would make up for it, peppering your neck with kisses while mumbling sweet apologies in your ear.
“Minji-ah why are you awake its late?” you croaked as you sat up seeing Minji sitting up in bed.
Although it was dark, the faint moonlight hit your girlfriend through the curtains revealing her eyes that were washed with sleep. Minji looked at you with a pout, “I can’t sleep because my warmth left me” her pouty face was even more heavy since she was exhausted and you knew the moment you laid her back down she was gonna be out like a light.
“Im sorry baby, I thought your arm was gonna fall asleep so I moved, here why don’t you lay here” you opened your arms inviting Minji to lay in your embrace, and she did exactly that. Like you thought, the minute she laid down, her breathing calmed and she was knocked out probably dreaming of bunnies or something.

𑁍 ꜱᴜᴍᴍᴀʀʏ: things don’t exactly go as planned regarding your flight, leading to you crossing paths with the mysterious airport security agent once again
⚡︎ ᴄᴡ: swearing, mentions of food and anxiety, flirty behaviors (duh), mildly suggestive nuances, ft. HANNI from nwjns

You double checked your boarding ticket just to make sure you were headed in the right direction. “Gate 11A, boarding begins at 11:45am, seat number 34B,” you mumbled to yourself as if jotting down a mental reminder. It was currently 11:58am, and your anxiety was on the brink of explosion. You thought to control your breathing again, but that would only slow you down. After another minute of rushing around the airport had passed, you finally found your boarding gate. However, to both your luck and misfortune, the flight was announced “delayed.”
You sighed, returning to the airport lobby.
Looking around for an idle seating lane, you took a corner seat while you waited for the attendance speaker to call you up again. That’s when you spot the TSA agent from earlier as he makes his way over, helping himself to the empty seat beside you.
How wonderful.
“What? Did they finally fire you?” You asked sarcastically.
“Hello, to you, too. And no, I’m just on my lunch break.”
“So you decided to sit by me?”
“I decided to sit in a chair.” He flashed you a phony smile before digging into his lunch bag, pulling out a plastic container of gyoza and another container of fruit salad.
“Want some? I’m sure you’re hungry, and these are really good, too” he offered, bringing one of the saucy dumplings to your mouth with chopsticks.
“No, thanks,” you lied, crossing your legs.
Of course you were hungry, but that didn’t mean you wanted to take any of his food for yourself.
“No, seriously, I don’t mind,” he continued, as if reading your thoughts. “Just try it. For me. Please?” He pleaded, pouting with his puppy eyes.
Ugh, why did he have to be so cute?
You gave in, parting your lips as he airplane fed you one of his dumplings, taking about half of the filled treat into your mouth in one bite.
Flavors of savory pork and warm spices greeted your tastebuds, the soft slippery dough melting in your mouth.
You closed your eyes, saying a small prayer to yourself in hopes that he didn’t poison you, although it'd be totally worth it for the taste.
He must’ve did something similar, because you noticed him mutter a phrase to himself before taking the other half of the dumpling in his mouth.
You tried to ignore the fact that he just ate after you, a complete stranger.
“So.” He began in between a few bites. “Where’re you headed?”
“Paris, France.”
“For love?”
“Work, actually.”
“Perfect!”
“Why’s that?”
“They put extra melon on my salad! I love melons!” He smiled into the next fork full of colorful fruit, eyeing you playfully.
You moved to zip up your hoodie all the way, assuming that his apparent ‘love for melons’ was nothing more than a sly innuendo. “You’re so sus,” you remarked.
“Not at all. My parents raised me to be a gentleman. I wouldn’t dare disrespect a lady’s modesty.”
“Right, because you’d rather swipe her panties instead,” you retorted sharply.
Fuck, you’re being rude again.
A loud silence enveloped the space between you too, not that there was much space to begin with anyway considering the closely situated chairs. He looked down at his food, before meeting your eyes again.
“I didn’t take them, y’know?”
His deep, and serious tone startled you as a sincere expression wavered over his face. The feeling of butterflies crowded your stomach right before static from the loud speaker broke the moment:
“Attention all travelers. Due to aircraft related mechanical issues, all flights scheduled between the hours of 11am and 1pm are canceled. We are offering full ticket refunds or flight rescheduling options at the check-in office located at the front of the building. We apologize again for the inconvenience and ask for your patience and understanding as we return your belongings and work toward serving you better. Thank you and good day.”
The speaker voice cut out.
This can’t be happening right now.
Riki busied himself with putting away his lunch before getting up to leave.
Something in you wanted him to stay.
“Hey, where’re you going,” you stood up and asked, fighting the urge to follow him.
“Aww, miss me already, huh? That’s sweet,” he kept walking.
“I forgot your name!”
“It’s Riki.”
“Riki,” you said again quietly to yourself, making another mental note from this hectic day.
“The one and only!” He chimed gleefully.
His long legs carried him at wide strides, so he was already at the elevator by time he looked back to see your face just one last time.
“Oh, and by the way, check the lost and found,” he smirked before entering the elevator, the shiny metal doors closing swiftly behind him.

You notified your boss and told him that you wouldn’t be able to make it in time for the business meeting in Paris tomorrow. Surprisingly, he settled for you to attend the conference meeting virtually instead. After talking with your boss, you texted your friend Hanni to see if she was willing to pick you up from the airport. You weren’t fond of most Uber drivers except this one guy named Noah. His car always smelled like peaches, and he never made you feel uncomfortable during a ride. Though, the con about Noah was that he charged a lot for his services, so Hanni was your only hope.

You knew it would take a while before Hanni arrived, so in the meantime, you decided to check the lost and found bin like Riki had told you to. Or, more specifically, the TSA security checkpoint area, where ‘missing’ and ‘confiscated’ items are held. Though, you weren't expecting anything in particular, you hoped to find the light blue panties you left behind earlier.
A nearby staff member helped you find the area in question, where you were left to search for whatever it was Riki wanted you to find. It didn’t take long before you noticed the lace underwear neatly tucked away inside a clear plastic bag, folded the exact same way. A feeling of guilt rushed over you as you remembered how rudely you spoke to Riki. You felt silly for letting yourself get so upset about something so simple. You further inspected the bag, only to find a yellow handwritten note taped to the back. “_____,” it read, with a smiley face beside it.
He remembered your name.
You took a deep breath before reading the message.
Tumblr media
Holy crap, he gave you his number—
Buzz. Buzz.
Your phone vibrated in your pocket. It was probably Hanni, letting you know that she was here.
Riki was proving to have a strong effect on you. It was all the little things he’d done in such a short time frame that made such an impact on everything around you.
You eventually exited the airport at 1:38pm, with your sage green suitcase, empty stomach, and love letter from the mysterious TSA agent accompanying you. Making your way to Hanni’s car, you tossed your belongings in her trunk and sat in the front seat. “Telepatía” by Kali Uchis played quietly from the stereo as she hummed along to the upbeat melody. “You never fail to amuse me, Hanni,” you proclaimed, buckling your seat belt. She drove around the parking lot, taking a short cut to avoid the traffic ridden afternoon highway, turning up the song.
“Saur,” she began with her warm Australian accent.
“Wanna get dumplings?”

leading lady - 1.3. call backs [half-written]
previous | next
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
y/n was running towards the auditorium, hair blowing through the autumn breeze as she muttered under her breath a quick ‘excuse me’ through the crowd. bunch of students had moved aside to let her pass through, thanking them as she ran past them. she was about to open the door to the auditorium, hand reaching out to the knob.
“fuck. that hurts.” y/n sat on the floor, hand on her nose as she tried to feel it out. hissing as she feels a bit of pain as she slowly stands up.
“huh- oh shit. are you okay?” she dismisses the voice as she continues to hold onto her nose, cursing at the pain as she feels something drip on her hand.
her nose is bleeding.
“stupid door. stupid alarm. yunjin is gonna kill me.”
“i’m so sorry! here!” y/n feels someone push away her hand from her nose, a soft handkerchief is placed underneath. finally looking up to see the culprit, only to see her.
her heart was about to combust. standing in front of her holding a handkerchief to her bloody nose was none other than minji. she takes it from her hand, trying not to tilt her head too high or too low as she tries to dismiss her once more.
“i… uhm… thank you.” minji nods as she brushes y/n’s bangs away for a bit to see if her forehead was also hit by the door. thumb grazing lightly, it wasn’t as bad as it seems - just red. y/n scanned minji’s face; her anxious gaze darting between her forehead down to her nose.
“i’ll walk you to the clinic.” she shook her head as she gently removed minji’s hand on her. the younger girl was already feeling guilty for slamming the door on her crush.
“it’s fine, i can go there myself.”
minji took a hold of y/n’s shoulders and turned her towards the direction of the clinic. she wanted to protest again, stop her, let her do her call back but minji seemed persistent in making her go to the clinic. she takes out her phone, takes a quick selfie and sends it to yunjin, updating the director of her whereabouts and how she’ll be gone for a while.

Tumblr media
You met by being placed as MCs together
She accidentally created her own ship when she said "I want to say something but I'm super shy" to you in front of the cameras
she does challenge with her songs with you whenever a new comeback arrived
You and her tarted dating and had no experience with it
Made you sing omg in her anchor
At awards shows she takes your hand and stays alone with you while leaving her members , and your members together
asked danielle for help on how to throw a picnic for the two of you
She arranged to meet you at a restaurant and the restaurant was filled with paparazzis
when dispatch posted a photo of you two holding hands that was the end for you
New jeans boy stans gave you massive hate, so when you went live the comments were from users "Newjeanscuties753" or "Minjiunnie11"
started to compare your body with other members
you open a live with one of your members, when you position the camera the numbers are growing every second, you come across comments saying that you missed them and the other member laughs and murmurs "wow.. Have we spent so long without opening a live?" she says jokingly as she focuses her gaze on the camera and fixes her bangs, the more people come in, the more people talk about you, so the comments are divided between "stop harassing Reader!" and "Leave our minji alone!" and then the atmosphere gets heavy and your member looks at you until they see that you don't say anything else "well, do you want to know about what we are planning to do?" trying to get excited, you just nod and mumble as you pull out your phone "let's make a cake for unnie's birthday!!" the member starts to clap and you just smile as you read the comments that start to fill up more, the member narrows her eyes and bite her lower lip gently, You can feel a knot forming when the comments get heavy and you pick up your phone and put it in front of the member who gently opens her eyes and looks at the camera in disguise, then she smiles and turns off the live stream.
Minji comforted you more than anything, when they decided to collaborate on MAMA, they made you dance hype boy on purpose
backstage she had to ask hyein to pretend to cry so she could talk to you
when she saw how nervous you were she hugged you for a few minutes until she heard danielle calling her
She is very protective, she takes care of new jeans then she is protective without knowing it, but this is all because she loves you
On your birthday she called you to her dorm and all your members and the new jeans were there
won't reveal your relationship for fear of people talking about your body
sued a man who created an account posting deepfake of you
Haerin loves it when you go to see Minji because she makes a lot of food to impress you
She's secretly a loser and when you play card games she takes pity on you and lets you win, not even bothering to see Hyein and Hanni's grumbles.
loves to kiss your cheek
when they put your group and hers up for interview and the interviewer asked you "what's it like to be the least popular in your group, and only be famous because of a rumor?" the atmosphere became tense, she could feel Haerin next to her stopping looking at the camera and looking sideways at you as she saw you blush and play with your fingers as you stumbled over your words "i..hm... I admire my fans so much be-" and then as if a god had appeared, your leader interrupts you "well... I think she's the second most famous in our group... and has this rumor already been explained?.." your leader gives an exaggeratedly fake smile and minji could feel her members sighing and their shoulders relaxing when their leader defended you
She arranged to travel to Paris with you, but when you arrived an hour after her at the Europort, the paparazzi were already there, and it was on all the gossip sites.
loves buying furry coats for you
Sometimes she calls you "bro" and at the same moment, without you questioning, he apologizes and kisses your cheek
gave you a Chanel kit as a gift
When you're passing by a store and see a cute outfit, she buys it for you
makes you sit on her lap when it's too cold to put your arms around her waist
Sometimes she has a fit and starts mumbling things in Korean
she bought you several gifts, but he made you wear a set that she almost knelt down on, and when you wore it she was in love again (this.
wrote one of the parts of ditto thinking of you
fans captured your group's album with your signature on her shelf
hyein sometimes calls you "unnie girlfriend" without meaning to and minji feels like putting her head in the ground
bought minecraft for you to play and made mods so her bed has your face
