A Christmas Eve Confession
Minji X Femreader
Words count: +1000
summary:On Christmas Eve, Y/n confesses her love for Minji, and they share a heartfelt moment under the snowy night, starting a new chapter together.
A/n: MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!
The night before Christmas brought with it a special magic in the bustling city where Y/n lived. The streets were illuminated with sparkling decorations, and the air was filled with the scent of cinnamon, gingerbread, and hot chocolate. But for Y/n, this Christmas felt different. Something incomplete hung in the air.
She gazed out the window of her apartment, a steaming cup of tea in her hands. The snow gently fell, covering the rooftops with a pristine coat. Her thoughts were with Minji. Their friendship was unique, but recently, Y/n felt something deeper, something she hadn't yet had the courage to express. And this Christmas Eve, she decided that things needed to change.
Putting on a warm coat and a red scarf, Y/n stepped out into the snowy night. She held a small gift in her hands, carefully wrapped in golden paper. It wasn't a grand gesture, but a symbol of what she hoped to share with Minji.
Minji lived just a few streets away, and with each step through the crunchy snow, it felt like Y/n was getting closer to what she hoped for: an answer, a sign, a chance. When she reached the door of Minji's building, she took a deep breath before pressing the intercom.
— Y/n? a surprised voice replied after a brief moment.
— Yes, it's me, she said. Can I come up?
A few minutes later, Minji opened the door of her apartment, dressed in a white wool sweater and comfy pants. Her eyes widened when she saw Y/n, her cheeks rosy from the cold and a shy smile on her lips.
— What are you doing here? Minji asked, intrigued but visibly happy.
— I wanted to see you, Y/n said, handing her the small package. Merry Christmas, Minji.
Minji accepted the gift with a smile. She invited Y/n inside, and the warm apartment, filled with the scent of vanilla cookies, instantly erased the cold outside. They sat down on the couch, the Christmas tree lights softly twinkling in the corner of the room.
— You didn’t have to get me anything, Minji said as she tore open the wrapping. But thank you.
She uncovered a simple yet elegant necklace with a star-shaped pendant.
— It represents a shooting star, Y/n explained. Because you’ve always been a kind of miracle in my life.
Minji looked up, touched. Her cheeks flushed with pink, and a sincere smile lit up her face.
— Y/n, it's beautiful. Thank you so much.
A gentle silence settled between them. Y/n gathered all her courage before continuing:
— Minji, there’s something I need to tell you. I didn’t want this evening to pass without you knowing... how I feel. You are more than just a friend to me. I’ve liked you for a long time, and I think... I’ve fallen in love with you.
Minji’s eyes widened, but she didn’t seem unsettled. On the contrary, a tender smile formed on her lips.
— Y/n, she murmured. I was waiting for you to say that. Because I feel the same way.
Relief and joy washed over Y/n like a wave. Minji reached out and placed her hand on Y/n’s, gently intertwining their fingers. They stayed like that for a moment, savoring the sincerity and beauty of this moment.
Outside, the snow continued to fall, but the warmth inside the apartment was something new. As midnight approached, Minji leaned in and placed a soft kiss on Y/n’s lips.
— Merry Christmas, she whispered.
Y/n smiled, her heart light and full.
— Merry Christmas, Minji.
And in the magic of that night, two hearts had found each other.

would tears rise up?"

═══════════════════════════
"Y/N! IT'S SNOWING!" hyein shook you awake while she rambled about the snow in excitement, pulling on your arm to go outside and see. you gave a half-ass protest but hyein insisted you check it out. "it might be one of the prettier first snows."
"hyein, do you have any idea what time it is?" you rubbed your eyes tiredly, the glare from the streetlights were rather annoying. the snow was as pretty as hyein said it was but you'd prefer to see it when you're fully awake.
"it's six in the morning," hyein answered. you turned to look at her, having to slightly look up to see her face. now that you're getting a better look at her, she's in her school uniform. "i have to leave for school in a bit."
"oh. i'll go get ready." as you were about to make your way to the bathroom, hyein quickly stopped you.
"it's okay, dain will pick me up."
your eyes narrowed suspiciously as you stared at her. "can dain drive yet?" seeing her tense, you sighed, putting your hand up to stop her from talking. "whatever, i don't care. just get to school safe and on time."
"why are you making it seem like i'll skip?" hyein pouted, clinging onto your arm.
"it's because you do. if you skip one more time, i'm sending you back to incheon with mom and dad," you warned. blood seemed to drain from hyein's face
"what?! noo, i like seoul," she whined while shaking your shoulders to take back your threat. you groaned, swatting her arms to let you go. "plus, haerin is the one driving."
"really? ok, have fun."
"hey! why are you suddenly ok when i mention that cat?"
"haerin value her studies so of course i trust her." you shrugged. a sudden voice called out for hyein down the street– more like a couple voices –signaling that her friends were here. "don't spend too much money on snacks, ok? love you."
"love you too, bye!" hyein rushed out of the house, turning the corner. you peeked your head out to see haerin's hyundai parked at the end of the neighborhood. you softly smiled seeing hyein run happily to her friends, reminding you of your high school years.
"well since i'm awake now," you headed back inside to get ready for the day, thinking about whether or not to go to class a little earlier than normal. since that's too much work, you decided to get coffee first.
~
your phone kept buzzing with endless notifications from god knows who, and while you tried to ignore it to admire the snow around you, a sudden call interrupted you. with an annoyed huff, you took your phone out of your pocket to see danielle calling. "hello?" you answered as you continued to walk to the coffee shop.
'did you hear?' she asked on the other line.
"hear what?"
'minji's back from canada.'
you paused for a moment, your lips parting in shock. minji, your ex that broke up with you two years ago to leave to canada, was now back in korea. "wait, i thought the move was permanent."
'it was never permanent?'
that little liar. "she told me it was," you said almost bitterly.
'really? before she left, she said she'd come back. look,'
danielle sent you a screenshot of minji's instagram story, the photo being her on an airplane with the caption 'back home.' you were absolutely furious, your hand gripping your phone so tightly that it might break. "she told me she wasn't coming back."
'maybe you remembered wrong? 'cuz that's not what she said to me nor haerin.'
"no, i'm sure. if she was coming back then we would've gone long-distance."
'y/n–'
"look, i don't wanna talk about this anymore. i'm gonna go." you didn't give danielle a chance to talk any further, your finger already pressing the hang up button. great. just when you were finally moving on, minji decided to come back. you shook your head and continued on your way. to say you were pissed would be the least similar way to describe how you were feeling. how could she lie and come back like nothing?
you finally reached your destination, your hand reaching out to grab the door handle until another hand appeared in front of you. "oh, sorry–" you backed up from the door but stopped midway once you saw who was holding the door.
"y/n?" god, you hated that voice.
"what're you doing here?" you asked with no interest, yet the sting in your eyes and the tug at your heart says otherwise. minji glanced inside the building before returning back to you, a confused look smothered on her face.
"getting coffee?..." right. it's a coffee shop. you fought back the urge to roll your eyes and cry at the same time, stepping back to let her go through. "you can go first."
"just go already." minji hesitated but reluctantly opened the door to go in first, pushing back the door behind her just enough so you can enter as well. you scoffed but didn't reject the offer, stepping inside to feel the warm atmosphere, a contrast to the outside. you placed your order quickly before finding a seat at one of the tables near the window.
minji sat in the seat in front of you, startling you a bit. her eyes seemed like she wanted to talk to you but you weren't sure if you were ready for that conversation yet. "can we please talk, y/n?"
"stop saying my name." you leaned back in your chair, your arms crossed over your chest. "you lied to me."
"it was the only option," she confessed. the sting in your eyes grew with each word she said. you ran a hand through your hair, pushing back the loose strands in frustration.
"only option? was i not enough to deserve the truth?"
"i didn't mean it like that..." her eyes were sad, practically begging you to let her explain. "i got accepted into a university in a toronto," she started, "i wanted to keep our relationship but i was going across the world. it would drive me insane to hear you say that you miss being held by me because, fucking hell, y/n. i'd miss it too."
your bottom lip started to quiver as tears welled up in your eyes, droplets falling down onto your lap. you're can't cry. not here, not now.
"i didn't wanna hear you say you wish i was there with you, i didn't wanna see myself crying in front of the bathroom mirror after calling you," minji continued on, "i didn't wanna have to pretend like i wasn't affected. so, i left."
"but why? why did you have to go? you could've stayed."
"it was the only university that accepted me. if yonsei accepted me then i would've." you sniffled, your hand coming up to wipe the tears from your eyes. you hated yourself for crying at that moment. "i was young and naive, but now, i know what i want." she reached across the table, holding your hand dearly. "i want you. i want us to start again."
"minji, you can't just leave and come back to ask for a second chance."
"please, y/n, please. i'm still in love you and i'm sorry it took this long for me to realize." her pleas were convincing but you weren't sure if you should give in. "let us be us again."
"i... i don't know." you pulled your hand back, slipping out of your seat. you left minji sitting alone as you walked out of the building, too caught up in your emotions. you felt a firm hand grab your wrist and turn you back around.
"love, please–"
"don't call me that!" your chest rose and fell rapidly as tears streamed down your cheek. "no. you don't get to break up with me and then call me love." minji only stared at you, half sorry and half full of pity.
"please think about it," she begged. "text me when you have an answer."
"don't boss me around." you took back your arm, stuffing your hand in your jacket pocket. "hyein still hates you."
"i'm sorry."
"stop, just stop. your number is still blocked and i don't plan on unblocking you." your hands curled into fists in your pockets out of anger. "see you around."

ೃ࿔࿐ CHAPTER I — GAME START
the cameras were focused on her, the studio lights making her sweat a little. she hoped they weren't able to see the beads of sweat through the cameras. yn always got a little nervous when she was in front of a camera, it was ironic that her whole career was built on cameras and other people.
"okay yn you ready?"
she cleared her throat as silently as she could, "yes."
"great. three... two... start!"
yn had to do something for her intro before talking. she decided on a simple wave, as her fans talked about how cute she looks while waving. she decided to play it safe.
"state your age and name please."
"lee yn. nineteen."
"nice to meet you yn. first we will explain the details and the rules of the game to you. is there anything you'd like to ask?"
she shook her head.
"great. so this game..."
they had explained everything thoroughly before she even signed the contract to agree to play the game so she knew what they were talking about. deciding to tune the mc out, yn nodded here and there letting the man know that she was listening. i mean she wasn't but... whatever.
"so yn, what do you think about the game overall?"
she'd tried to come up with something cheeky to say but she couldn't find anything. but she hoped it wouldn't matter how much fanservice she did right now because the game was full of fanservice anyway.
"i think it's great! i've never seen something like this before so i'm exited. i'm also very happy to meet new people!"
well she didn't lie that much this time, she really was excited. she was also nervous but no one had to know about that part. i mean if she even said it no one would care, and her fans would probably try to look into it and come up with crazy theories. god, she really didn't want to deal with that.
when the shooting was over they let her sit around for a little bit before getting her into the car that would take her to the house she would be staying at. she liked car rides, minus the part where she would get carsick. she usually preferred sleeping through the rides but she had to talk to a camera this time. it was okay i guess, she just felt weird talking to a camera all by herself.
"hey guys," yn smiled, a little shy, "did you miss my pretty face? i'm kidding, or am i?"
she continued to talk for five minutes before stopping the video and closing her eyes, hoping to get some sleep before a tiring day.
after a while, yn opened her eyes. coincidentally they had just parked the car and opened her door for her to get out. after stepping out of the car she looked at the building in front of her in awe. she hadn't expected it to be this big but it made sense, since there would be seven other people staying in there.
after going inside and looking at the rooms yn was told to sit down at the table that they temporarily put inside of the living room. after she sat down, they quickly started recording.
"okay so, you're going to choose someone after reading these papers and that'll be your partner from now on, so choose wisely."
"oh this is interesting..."
she started to read slowly, sometimes raising an eyebrow or two, sometimes smiling. she'd read all four papers when she picked the third one.
"this," she showed her paper to the camera "is my partner."
"okay," said the main mc "can you tell us what made you choose that person?"
"um... the fact that she can speak three languages is pretty cool. and it says here that she likes eating ice cream in winter and wearing mostly black clothes. we have those in common."
"okay great. thank you yn."
she smiled and nodded, slowly getting up from her seat and going over to one of the rooms. she laid on one side of the bed and slowly drifted to sleep. an hour later a staff member woke her up, telling her that she had to get a few photos taken. yn nodded and followed the staff out of the room.
after the shooting, she realized she had to eat or else she would be too hungry to sleep after. she opted for ramen, a quick and easy dish, also quite tasty for a packaged food.
as she was eating she began to wonder who her partner would be and what games they would play. she hoped it wasn't someone mean, she really didn't have the energy to deal with a mean person especially for a long time.
she sighed and decided to stop thinking. she didn't want to ruin the surprise by trying to guess who she'd be staying with anyway.

enchanted (or not) : k. minji
synopsis: nothing could go wrong with making a love potion, right? or whatever it is that danielle said.
# : pairing ! nonidol!kim minji x reader
# : tags ! reader's gender isn't mentioned, witch is a gender neutral term here, they're in school, fluff, crack, humans live with the supernatural whether they know it or not, it's not all that serious though, i stole the recipe from harry potter, bc who really has time to think of love potion ingredients (me but im lazy)
# : wordcount ! 2k
# : warnings ! none
love potions were things that kim minji used to read about in those unserious wattpad love stories. not something that she actually considered doing, for real.
that is, until, her idiot friends hanni and (though less than the former) hyein, brought up the idea after hearing minji blabber on about you for the fifth time in a single day. haerin and danielle, being a couple of yes-men, quickly agreed. they agreed to almost anything nowadays. maybe it was because hanni and minji were graduating this year.
"what even gave you the idea to make a love potion in the first place?" minji sighed out, rubbing her temple. they were currently in the chemistry lab, sitting around a comically large cauldron that hyein had gotten out of nowhere. seriously, that girl had too many connections. where on earth did she get a cauldron!? and it was huge, too. how did they manage to lug it into the lab?
haerin's mouth twitched. "they were snooping through my books and found a recipe book."
"why do you have a magic recipe book just lying around?"
she only shrugged. hanni nudged minji's shoulder and made an annoying shushing gesture. "shh, don't worry about it. don't you want y/n to," she held up finger hearts, "fall in love with you?"
"stop that," minji slapped hanni's hands away. she got a flimsy flick on the forehead from the shorter girl in a pathetic attempt to retaliate.
the flipping of pages interrupted the pair's little squabble. it redirected their attention to the front (or at least, their front; haerin and danielle's left and right, respectively) where hyein pulled out the recipe book in question.
"aha!" she exclaimed, blowing off the dust that was resting on the pages. it resulted in a coughing fit from all of them. just how old was the book? and it brought them back to minji's question: why did haerin just have this lying around?
"amortentia: the potion of love," hyein read out.
wait. "isn't that from harry potter? like, amortentia, the love potion?"
"shush, unnie."
she continued, underlining the next part of the description with her finger. "ingredients: ashwinder eggs, rose thorns, rose petals, and powdered moonstone," the youngest looked up from the book expectantly, "with that being said, let's go get the ingredients?"
"wait, where are you even going to—"
haerin cut minji off, standing up from her seat. she brushed invisible dust off of her shoulders and pressed her lips into a thin line. minji could see the teasing glint in her eyes. "i know where to get them."
"so do i!" danielle, who was practically bubbling with excitement, agreed. she linked her arm with haerin, who looked like she was five seconds from melting at her touch.
minji was speechless. appalled. petrified, even. her mouth opened and closed until she was able to get them back to their seats with a wave of her hand.
"how do you guys..." her eye twitched. she missed her caffeine intake for the day, which was amplifying the stressful situation. "...know that magic even, i don't know, exists?"
"haerin's a vampire! so they have to exist!" danielle blurted out.
"what?"
pfft. kang haerin, a vampire? likely story. sure, she never willingly went outside, and she always wore a hat and sunglasses when it was sunny outside, and sometimes minji could see a dribble of red left on her chin after she took a sip from her thermos (wasn't it just gatorade? though it was weird to keep it in a thermos.) but there was no way that haerin was a vampire. they didn't exis—
the "vampire" then opened her mouth and showed off her very... very sharp fangs.
"..."
"anyway, we're off now! watch the cauldron, don't let mr. park take it away, 'kay unnie?"
the rest of the group packed their things and left the lab. hanni stayed behind to close her same-aged friend's mouth, which was hanging agape. "you're gonna let a fly go in your mouth, bro."
kim minji had a headache.
over the course of 45 minutes, the girls came back one by one with the ingredients needed for the potion. of course, minji still had her doubts, even after the reveal of haerin being a vampire. one of her friends was a bloodsucker, so what? it didn't prove that magical potions also existed and worked.
she twirled the cork on the filled glass bottle in her hand. they were missing one ingredient (the powdered moonstone), but hyein got excited and convinced everyone to fill the bottle with the unfinished concoction before they headed to danielle's house to get moonstone from her dusty attic. granted, they were going to fill another bottle when they returned with the final ingredient, but who could resist the youngest's pleading eyes?
anyway, minji had thought she'd seen it all when she witnessed the liquid turn into gas after hanni read out some words in latin. like, seriously. it was swirling around in a pink mist in the glass bottle she was holding, right at this moment.
("bro, what was that you just said." minji deadpanned, looking just about done with everyone. except danielle, she was an angel. she could never stay upset at the australian for too long.
"it's what's supposed to make it so when the two people involved inhale the fumes that it turns into, just breathe in the effects," hanni explained, shrugging. "or at least that's what haerin said. but in her big girl words."
"do you even know what it translates to?"
"uh, no! do you think i'm like some sort of genius?"
"no."
"hey!")
after danielle and haerin's thorough explanation, she understood that it basically turned into a minecraft splash potion. and that the effects could only lock onto two people at maximum.
despite that, it was recommended to be alone with the person as you "accidentally" dropped the potion and broke it to release the gas.
all minji had to do was plan a day to do it, and therefore begin the procedure. she didn't want to force you to love her... thankfully, the effects would only last for a day, plenty of time for minji to fulfill her delusions before it all went away forever.
speaking of you, you were so... dreamy. you were charming, cute, and way out of her league. you were a popular student, straight a's and involved in many extracurriculars. minji, on the other hand, liked to keep with her group of five. and while she also held a perfect record, she really only involved herself with the journaling club because she was the president this year.
the two of you had met in chemistry in freshman year (ironic, wasn't it?) and were partnered for the whole year, inevitably leading to minji's development of romantic feelings. eventually, you started hanging out more and she even got to meet your family. once. at curriculum night. that counted, right? even if all she said was hello before she ran off to join hanni. jesus, she was a loser.
"hey, what's that?" a voice came from behind minji, startling her and causing her to drop the bottle.
"oh, shit!" she watched in horror as the potion in its obnoxious pink gaseous form floated up between you. her breath hitched, and the realization that she'd just breathed the gas in hit too late.
a silence fell over the two of you, and she was hit with a feeling that she hadn't experienced since your first meeting, captivated by your enchanting eyes in a way that felt like the first time. she was in a daze, your beauty sending her into a state of delirium.
and you were the same: staring at minji like she lit up the stars, mouth slightly agape and hands twitching.
this continued for another two minutes, until you finally broke out of it and into a laughing fit.
"wha—what," minji shook her head in bewilderment. did that just happen?
you rested your hand on her shoulder. she gulped.
"minji," you smiled, "was that supposed to be a love potion?"
"no—yes—wait, how'd you know?"
the smile dropped (minji pouted in her mind. your smile was so pretty.) from your face into a confused expression. why were you the confused one? weren't you laughing a good five seconds ago?
"...i'm a witch?"
"you're a what?"
you pointed to yourself like it was obvious, "a witch." minji wanted to hurl herself off of the four story school building. "i thought you knew?"
"no! how was i supposed to-" she sighed. "first it's haerin being a vampire, now you're a witch, don't tell me the next thing i'm going to find out for the first time is that dani's a fairy or something."
you raised up a finger, an innocent smile emerging, "actually, she's a werewolf."
"...you know what. i don't even wanna know anymore."
stepping over the broken glass, you took a seat next to the embarrassed girl, patting her on the back. "the potion would've worked, but i guess you were missing something... who was it supposed to be for? sorry i interrupted."
burying her face into her arms, which rested on a nearby table, she mumbled out a small, "you."
"me?" you widened your eyes, taken aback. then, you started giggling.
well fuck. that was basically a confession, and you were now laughing at her. nothing could save minji now. maybe one of your friends were listening in and she would become the laughingstock of the school for the rest of her life. maybe she should go beg her parents to move back to canada and stay there forever.
"minji," you tapped her head playfully. she raised her head just enough to reveal her red eyes. the sight made you frown and gesture for her to look up so you could wipe her freshly formed tears away.
"don't cry, why are you crying?"
"cause," she hiccupped. "you don't like me back."
you raised your eyebrows. "who said i didn't like you back?"
minji furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "then why'd you start laughing?"
"because, minji," you wiped another stray tear from her cheeks, "i just thought it was funny that you were making amortentia for me. you don't even need the potion because i like you too."
"you do...?"
words couldn't even describe what minji felt right now. you liked her back? you liked her back! holy shit, she could die happy. actually, she couldn't die right now. what about the apartment you would rent together after graduation and the dogs you'd adopt—actually, maybe you'd like cats better. did witches actually prefer cats? actually didn't even sound like a word anymore.
her monotone world was turned inside out in the span of a single day, and she ended up with the revelation of you reciprocating her feelings? score! she couldn't wait to brag to her friends about this. they would probably ask her (in astonishment, and minji would have a smug smirk on her face) how such a perfect being such as you would like a loser like minji. really, she should ask the same thing. why did you like a loser like minji?
anyway, that was beside the point. what minji should be paying attention to is your smile that could light up a thousand rooms.
"mhm. now let's get this all cleaned up and get some ice cream?"
minji nodded almost too enthusiastically. she almost had a tail wagging behind her at the mention of an ice cream date with you. her two favorite things!
("um... should we just go?"
"but what about the moonstone we just ground up? that shit was blinding as hell, don't tell me our efforts just went to waste."
"we went through all the trouble, including going to danielle's crusty dusty attic, just for them to get together without the potion?"
"i thought you guys thought my attic was cool!"
"i think your attic is cool."
"of course you would say that, haerin. whipped ass—ow!")
a/n : i felt bad for delaying lovergirl for so long (it's still delayed) so here's a little minji fic cus i missed her

-beware of the vampires, they said. i never heard of any mythical creatures here though?
additional warnings: almost harassment ?; chaeryeong has beef with the vamp gang; christopher is being aggressive; reader gets very awkwardly bitten
it’s almost funny how quickly someone can catch your attention. it’s also quite impressing how long they can manage to keep your focus on them.
that happened while i was sitting at the end of the table. this girl- jisu?- was set on introducing her friends to me. blame it on my bad memory, but i forgot every name the moment it fell from her lips. i wasn’t even sure if i remembered her’s correctly. give it two more weeks, maybe i’ll start recognising the people.
after all, i’ve been in this school for maybe three hours now.
it was then when i noticed a interesting bunch in the corner of the cafeteria. i couldn’t say they seemed unfamiliar, as i knew little to no one, but there was definitely something about the group. there were five of them, all girls. they seemed to be deep in thought, as none of them spoke nor ate, despite the full plates of food in front of them. what’s more, they weren’t staring at the newcomer- a.k.a me- which allowed me to gaze at them without being noticed.
that wasn’t the most interesting thing though. majority of the group was of pale complexion, with the exception of the tallest girl. compared to her, the rest looked white as a page. they all had darkish hair, various shades of brown and black. even looking at their faces, they looked so different, yet much alike. maybe the dark eyes they possessed make them look so similar.
yet even that wasn’t the reason for them catching my attention.
i stared because you don’t see this type of beauty everyday. they seemed almost unreal, inhuman. i never thought of myself as someone unpretty, but gazing at them, i could not compare.
i stared so intensely it was almost weird none of them noticed. or maybe they did, but couldn’t be bothered to meet my eyes. they weren’t even looking at each other. everyone of the girls gazed somewhere far away.
one of them stood up. she had quite cat-like features, but still blended well with the presences at the table. taking her untouched tray, she dumped it and walked away with a speed i could barely follow.
shame she wasted the food.
when her form disappeared through the door, i gazed back at the bunch. they seemed unbothered, as if they didn’t notice one of them leaving. while they sat there, their food remained untouched. maybe the cafeteria served bad meals, good thing i brought my own.
“oh, you’re interested in that group?” jisu giggled. i didn’t know if i was supposed to deny my obvious staring or ask what she found so funny. for a good measure, i said nothing.
“ah~ i can’t blame you. they’re so pretty!” well, hard to argue with that one…
“who are they?” i finally asked. suddenly, i felt a burning gaze on me. when i looked back to the table in the corner, my eyes briefly met the dark one’s of one girl. so similar to the others yet the moment i met her gaze, there was something pulling me in. i just couldn’t name it.
“kim minji, the shortie next to her is pham hanni, the next tall one is marsh danielle and at the far back, the tallest, lee hyein. they usually hang out with another girl, kang haerin. i’m surprised she isn’t there. maybe she left already?” she muttered.
“interesting names.” i haven’t meet others like that. maybe i’ve seen a minji before?
kim minji, if i wasn’t mistaken, was the one who caught my gaze earlier. she now focused on a piece of bread laying in front of her. with her slim, pale fingers, she ripped a part of it and put it to her mouth. the speed at which her lips were moving seemed inhuman, just like visuals of the group. while she devoured the poor piece of bread, the rest continued to stare at the surrounding walls, never meeting each other’s gaze.
“you’re staring~”
“and you’re focusing on me but am i complaining?”
“don’t be mean!”
“don’t tell me what to do.” jisu pouted.
i’ve been to this city a couple times before, how come i never noticed this weird bunch? they are too… outstanding to be just overlooked.
jisu stood up earlier, dragging me away from the cafeteria while repeating that the calculus class should start in five minutes and she doesn’t want to be late. as we were leaving, i could feel a pair of eyes burning holes in my back.
“by the way, i won’t be able to sit with you next lesson.” jisu added that to the conversation, as if it was nothing.
“why are you dragging me along then!” she shrugged in response. when we entered the class, she skipped over to some other girl i could barely recognise. i think her name was something starting with ‘r’? not sure though.
even though the bell hadn’t rung yet, almost all the chairs were already occupied. much to my surprise, the vacant seat was next to the girl from the cafeteria, kim minji.
i could swear that me and jisu left before her, how come she already arrived at the classroom?
feeling the familiar gaze on me, i unwillingly meet her eyes. only now, when we were closer to each other, i could see how dark they actually were. almost like a night sky with no stars. something flashed in her eyes and she quickly averted her gaze.
the teacher, who’d entered the classroom, passed me a textbook. it seemed similar to the one i had back at my old school so i could hope the change wouldn’t be too drastic.
when i slipped into the chair next to the girl, i noticed her shift away. it wasn’t a really unfamiliar reaction, seeing as we’ve only met eyes a couple times and never spoke, though i still found it a bit rude.
she didn’t bother speaking to me, so i too decided to leave the tension between us unaddressed. as i took notes during the lecture, i could feel her gaze lingering on me.
the gloomy look on her face didn’t suit her as much as the deep-in-thought one she wore in the cafeteria. even with that, she was still overwhelmingly pretty.
is it weird to speak like that of someone i just met?
the bell rung, snapping me out of my thoughts. when i glanced at my seat mate, i found her chair empty. she bolted out the door the minute she could. looking at the dark hallway while i packed my bag, i could swear something was lurking in the shadows.
maybe i should cut the horror movies.
until now, i’ve only seen her once. when she left after the calculus, it was like her existence was wiped off the surface. well, that sounds a bit dramatic.
at the lunch table, where i thought i’d see her, sat only the remaining four. every once in a while, their eyes would meet. minji never appeared though.
jisu sat next to me, gossiping with this ryujin about some guy they saw earlier. not like i could care less. then, the bell rang, forcing us to leave our seats. i watched as the four girls left in the other direction.
and so the days flew by. i couldn’t spot the girl from my calculus class anywhere in the halls and no one seemed to notice her absence. jisu said it was normal for some students to skip school, was it?
by friday, i assumed she dropped out. i mean, it’s not like the teachers marked her as sick or absent for other reason. she just wasn’t there.
funnily enough, even while focusing on the pale girl, i found some friends. well, that’s a lie. the friends found me.
jisu- or as some call her, lia- introduced me to another friend of hers, besides ryujin. it was a tall girl called yuna who adored to annoy me every chance she got. the four of us always sat together on the table we occupied on my first day, and until the end of the week, we formed a pretty stable group.
it was monday when the five-turned-four table was filled up again.
the previous days i unconsciously looked over to the corner of the cafeteria every lunch time, in search for the pale girl from calculus class. although i did that, a part of me was surprised to see minji back in her seat.
my three friends chatted away while i stared at my untouched tray. when i risked a glance at the corner table, the sight once again shocked me.
contrary to the last time, when they all looked away from each other, this time they were laughing together. even though i sat away from the girls, their laughter seemed to flow around me. for a brief moment, minji caught eye contact with me. i averted my gaze, embarrassed to be caught staring.
“oh~ minji is staring at you!” as jisu pointed out, i could feel the girl’s cold gaze on my profile.
“stop staring back, lia.” she complied with a snicker.
when we stood up to throw away our trays, jisu went ahead with the other two. i glanced back to the five’s table. her dark eyes met mine.
a small smirk played on kim minji’s lips.
in movies, the main character usually is safe in places like the crosswalk, or the sidewalk, or the parking. the reality of life just had to slap me in the most awkward way though.
i just wanted to check my schedule on my phone, in hopes of some teacher being absent, when i heard a pitched sound.
it wasn’t the type you’d hear as a static in a broken radio, or when you put a microphone too close to the speaker. it was a screech of rubber, coming to my direction at a high speed.
next, a couple things happened simultaneously.
first, i noticed the unfamiliar car speeding in my direction. the sun blinding my eyes, i couldn’t see the driver. besides, that wasn’t my biggest concern.
second, i saw a familiar figure, standing a couple rows away. the ever so pale kim minji looked at me with a mix of shock and horror painting her face.
third, i acknowledged how everyone around me was watching. every person gathered at the school’s parking lot at eight a.m. would see me get ran over.
fourth, i closed my eyes. the picture of a car driving straight at me wasn’t something i wanted to remember as my last memory.
fifth, the sound of the brakes got louder. i had seconds left. quite pathetic way to go down.
six, something very cold and very hard smashed into me, surprisingly not from the front, but from the side.
then, it was quiet.
when i opened my eyes, a familiar face entered my field of vision, a look of concern painting her features.
only when i felt something warm on the back of my head did i acknowledge the screams around me. yet even then, only one voice seemed to be clear.
“are you okay, y/n?”
the pandemic was speaking to me. at least, his lips seemed to be moving. the sound of his voice never reached my ears as i stared away from him.
i was taken by a teacher, who called a ambulance. apparently, i hit my head on the pavement when i was falling down. the witnesses stated that i, on my own, jumped away from the speeding car at the last second.
as the pandemic applied gauze to my neck, i watched kim minji and her four friends. my vision was a bit blurry after the incident, but i knew they were staring back at me.
only when the man left my side to report to the teacher, the pale girl stepped towards me.
“are you okay now, y/n?”
“…how do you know my name?”
“that? oh, the pandemic mentioned it earlier.” i nodded slightly and winced, causing minji to giggle lowly.
“be careful, they say you hit your head pretty hard.”
“yeah, i did… hey, how did you get over there so fast?” a small frown etched on her face.
“what?”
“you were standing a couple rows away, how?”
“no i wasn’t.” she denied.
“i saw you.” i met her eyes and something shifted, but i just couldn’t name what.
“y/n, i was right at your side.” her gaze turned cold, as if she was annoyed her convincing didn’t work. why was she lying though?
“that’s not true!”
“it is.”
“no!”
“please.” i looked at her ridiculously.
“what?”
“just- trust me, okay?”
“…explain everything.”
“later.”
“fine.” she left my side. i couldn’t see where she went, as ryujin, jisu and yuna came with the pandemic. he looked me over again and passed some notes to the teacher.
my three friends started fussing over me the moment the pandemic’s left. i was to be sent home when my head stops spinning but until then, the trio volunteered to stand by my side.
“oh gosh that was so scary!” said jisu, as if she was the one in the accident.
“yeah, i really thought it was gonna hit you! you stood alone in front of the car, and wham! and it didn’t hit you!”
“mhm, that’s for clearing that up, yuna.”
“at your service.”
i lost sight of minji and her gang at some point when the pandemic’s looked me over. she vanished into thin air and hadn’t appeared ever since.
“hey, could you girls leave me to talk with y/n for a second?” or maybe not.
jisu sent me a small smirk as she dragged away yuna and ryujin, the two waving friendly to the presence behind my back.
minji kneeled in front of me, her face coming closer to mine. something between concern and relief grazed her expression. for a short while, we just stared at each other, while i could feel her surprisingly cold breath.
“you did get hit pretty hard.” she muttered, her gaze falling onto the wound on my neck.
“you said you’d explain everything.” minji gave me a glare in response.
“what do you want from me, y/n?”
“answers, anything! i am sure you were standing away, yet a couple seconds later we were both on the ground.” i could almost see the wheels turning in her head as she stared back at me.
“you hit your head while falling, your memory must be bad.”
“i know you weren’t next to me, minji! yuna said she saw me standing by myself.”
“why does it matter really?” it was my turn to glare at her.
“because you’re lying to me. i know you are, but i don’t know why.” she stood up abruptly, as if offended by my statement.
“i saved your life. the least you could do is stop asking questions.”
“why did you save me then?”
a look of surprise flashed on her face. she clearly wasn’t expecting me to ask that. i could hear someone coming close to us from behind my back. minji started at the person before her eyes briefly met mine.
“i don’t know.” she whispered, turning her back and walking away.
“minji, come on!” i couldn’t recognise the voice. when my pale companion disappeared, the person who called for her did too. i was left alone at the sidewalk.
a couple weeks passed since then. it was pretty peaceful at the school, though the sight of the pale girl bothered me. well, maybe not the sight, but more her behaviour.
she never brought up our conversation from the incident, before we were interrupted. what’s more, whenever we were alone and she wasn’t in a bad mood, she’d be a nice person to be around. throw some jokes, speak casually. but when there wasn’t only the two of us, she’d barely acknowledge my existence.
if i waved first, she’d wave back. if i said hi while passing by with ryujin, she’d nod her head.
nothing more, nothing less.
now, we were sitting in the cafeteria at our group’s table. it’s kind of cliché how every time something happened, it was in the canteen.
when we entered the space, there were four people sitting in the corner. no minji in sight. we sat down as usual, proceeding with our food while yuna did a daily checkup of the rumours and gossips.
“and kim minji is staring at you again.” i took a double take when she finished talking. glancing at her table, where there were still four people. “weird, she’s sitting alone today?”
i followed yuna’s gaze. at the other end of the canteen, alone in her seat, sat minji. when she met my eyes, she wriggled her brows and gestured for me to come closer.
“wow, leaving us for a girl.” i playfully rolled my eyes at ryujin, standing up.
“you’re all girls too.” she gasped in mock offense. “minji might need help with homework or something, i’ll be right back.”
as i left the table, i heard the trio snicker behind me. noticing that i was coming closer, minji smiled slightly. she scooted over so i could sit next to her.
“why’d you call me?” i asked.
“why don’t you sit with me today?”
“that’s… unusual?”
“it doesn’t have to be.”
“what do you mean?”
“if i’m going to hell, i might as well drag some people along.” i quirked my brow at her.
“you’re a serial killer?”
“no, i don’t think so. i’m tired of trying to keep away from you, so i give up.” she simply said.
“give up on what?”
“trying. i thought it’d be better if i kept away, but the way you always seemed to look for me convinced me otherwise.”
“you’re making it sound weird.” she shrugged with a smile. “so, does that mean we’re friends?”
“friends? we could try. i don’t think i’d be a good friend though.”
“well, the girls you usually sit with don’t seem to complain.” minji followed my gaze to the table occupied by hanni, danielle, haerin and hyein.
“they’re stupid.”
“are all of your friends stupid?”
“that depends?” i stifled a laugh at her answer.
“on what?”
“if you’d be my friend, i’d have a non-stupid one.” i slapped her arm playfully.
“quiet, or they’ll hear you.” we both saw hanni glare at us, which was quite weird, given the circumstances.
“maybe they did.”
“don’t be ridiculous.”
“there is a couple ridiculous things you don’t know about me, y/n.”
“lia is having a sleepover on the weekend, you wanna come?” ryujin asked me later that day, during literature. she added something about jisu’s father’s cabin in the woods, where we’d apparently sleep.
“i mean, sounds fun. who’s gonna be there?”
“us four and our two other friends. they go to a different school so i don’t suppose you meet them.” i nodded my head in confirmation, noting to myself to ask permission for the sleepover later.
i suddenly felt a sharp pain in my hand. looking over, i managed to fail the mighty task of turning a page over, and cut myself with the paper. i started at the little wound, which for some reason was deeper than the usual paper cut. ryujin, who just noticed the object of my concerns, stifled a laugh.
“you good, y/n? are you bleeding out to death?” she joked.
“i hate blood…” a look of worry flashed on her features.
“hey, come on, it’s just a little drop-“
“i think i’m gonna pass out-“
“y/n!”
“hey, you’re back?” the sight of ryujin leaning over greeted me when i opened her eyes. she sighed in relief before standing up from her kneeling position. “i’m gonna take her to the nurse, miss!”
“go on.”
ryujin helped me stand up and guided me from the classroom, snickering every once in a while.
“what’s so funny.” i grumbled, making her laugh more.
“you passed out from the tinniest littlest drop of blood i’ve ever seen in my entire life!”
“yeah, funny.”
“guys? what happened?” minji suddenly appeared at my side, scaring the living daylights out of me. i flinched lightly, receiving concerned looks from both my companions.
“y/n passed out during class.”
“why? something happened?”
“she got a paper cut and got scared of the blood.” i glared at ryujin while the two laughed at my misery.
“it’s not even that funny…”
“trust me,” minji directed her gaze onto me with a smirk. “it is.”
i groaned in response, considering abandoning the two of them and going to the nurse’s office on my own.
“hey ryujin, i’ll take it from here. you go back to the class and take notes, ‘kay?”
my friend didn’t resist much and with a teasing smile, she left the two of us alone in the hallway.
“…you seriously passed out from some blood?”
“i hate the sight of it!”
“okay, geez! no need to get worked up about it. let’s go now.” with a nod of my head, i followed after minji.
she had a fast pace, compared to mine, so i had troubles keeping up. after i had to call for her to slow down multiple times, she caught my hand and started dragging me along.
i wasn’t complaining, but her hand was really cold.
when we got there, the nurse’s office was closed. there was a note pinned to the door, saying that the nurse was absent that day.
“guess we have to go back.” i muttered under my breath.
“not necessarily.” it seemed that minji caught what i said. her free hand landed on the door’s handle and she effortlessly pushed it open. “there we go!”
as we entered the room, i couldn’t help but notice the doors not closing all the way. maybe they were mounted badly and got stuck earlier?
“do you want a paw patrol or white bandage for your terrible wound?” minji shook me out of my door observing. she of course received a glare as a response.
“isn’t it obvious?”
“paw patrol?”
“yeah.”
“good choice.” i know.
the rest of the week passed without another inconvenience. as it was nearing the weekend, the sleepover at jisu’s was getting closer and closer. she said that the cabin was far in the woods- which totally sounds safe and 100% not scary- so we would get there by car. i had about 20 minutes left before jisu would arrive with the rest of the girls.
just as i finished zipping my bag, i felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. the screen read ‘ryujinnie’ in bold, just like the older girl saved on my device. throwing the bag over my shoulder, i picked up the call.
“hey ryujin, what’s up?”
“get yourself downstairs bestie, we’re here!” in the background of the call i could hear more girls cheering.
“okay, coming boss!” ryujin giggled and ended the conversation. i exited my house, locking it, before getting dragged inside the car by yuna.
“hi, y/n! it’s great to see you!” said jisu from the front seat. she sat as the passenger while ryujin appeared to be our designated driver. yuna was huddled in the back with another girl i didn’t recognise. the both of them left the right seat for me.
“y/n, i’ve heard lots about you.” said the other girl when i was all bucked up and lia’s stared the car.
“good things only, i hope.” i joked, making the backseat row laugh.
“ah, that’s right! y/n, this is chaeryeong, one of our friends that will join the sleepover.” explained to me yuna.
“okay then. it’s great to meet you, chaeryeong!”
“likewise, y/n.”
jisu decided to put on some music from the radio and we turned right, riding into the forest. as promised, we drove deeper inside with every passing seconds. the trees were so tall in some places, that the sun was dimmed. i’d say it was about an hour later (mostly consisting of yuna and ryujin screaming some lyrics) when we arrived at the cabin.
there was another car parked in front of it, one that i couldn’t recognise. another tall girl exited it, although she seemed shorter than yuna. she noticed our car approaching and waved.
“awh, yeji beat us!” yuna pouted.
we exited the car and the girl- yeji?- immediately ran up to us. she greeted the other four girls before stopping in front of me.
“hey, you didn’t tell me there was another one!”
“another one what-“
“that’s y/n! she joined the school some time ago.” ryujin introduced me. the other girl nodded her head and outstretched her hand in my direction.
“nice to meet you then! i’m yeji.” with a smile on my own, i shook the taller girl’s hand. contrary to the other people, her hand seemed awfully warm.
“soo, we go in?” asked ryujin, receiving nods from everyone. following jisu, one by one we got settled in the cabin.
i didn’t really know why jisu deemed it necessary for us to make a campfire outside the cabin. the problem was that she had no wood ready for it, so me, yeji and chaeryeong were asked to collect some.
“god, i think we’re lost.” it wasn’t going well.
“it’s fine, chaer. i remember how to get back to the cabin.” i looked at yeji. she was unbothered, calmly carrying the wood pieces in her hands.
“how? all these trees look the same!”
“i have a good instinct.” we couldn’t really argue with that, it was better to have some hope.
“i will punch you if we encounter some of those vampire weirdos…” muttered chaeryeong, which picked my attention.
“vampires?” i couldn’t help but ask. never have i heard of vampires being in this arena.
“you haven’t heard? these damned blood suckers live in the forest!” aggressive much?
“really? no one mentioned anything…”
“maybe they didn’t want you to worry. they say it’s not safe to be here alone.” i looked at yeji, cracking a smile at how serious she looked.
“quit playing guys, if something was going on, the rest would tell me.” the smile faded from my face when the girls stopped in their tracks with serious expressions.
“y/n, it’s not a joke. those pale kids will suck you to the last drop.” chaeryeong had a bitter look on her face.
“what, you met one of them?” she scoffed.
“one? there was at least four of them!”
from the corner of my eye, i could see yeji shift uncomfortably. before i could ask her what was wrong, she spoke.
“let’s just go back, i think we have enough wood.”
“lead the way then, miss compass.”
“oh i will.”
“y’all are either stupid or very bad at planning things.” after saying that, yuna nodded to herself, as if confirming her words.
truth be told, she had a point. while planning all that campfire stuff, no one thought of actually getting something we could make on said campfire. meaning, we had essentially no food.
“i think we passed some convenience store on the way? if someone takes the car, we’ll get there and maybe go back before it gets completely dark.” i suggested, receiving nods from the group. ryujin volunteered to go with me, so the two of us entered the car and went our way.
“do you remember how far was it from the forest?”
“i think no more than ten minutes.”
“okay.”
we mostly spent the ride in silence. ryujin tried to talk with me every once in a while, but i was too occupied with the conversation i had earlier with chaeryeong and yeji. it was rude of me to ignore her like that, really, but i’d apologise later.
“you go in, i’ll wait in the car.” she said when we finally arrived.
“i thought you were supposed to help me?” ryujin smiled apologetically.
“i see really badly in the evenings, you know? i go blind when the sky is greyish. i’ll join you when it gets darker?”
“weird excuse but okay.” i exited the car and went to the small convenience store. much to my dismay, inside was only one person- a older than me man.
from the moment i entered the shop, i could feel his eyes on me. they never strayed, as i picked different snacks for the campfire. it was getting quite uncomfortable so i sighed internally in relief when i was finished and just needed to pay for my things.
the man scanned the snacks slowly. i watched as he did so, hoping he would just finish the task and let me exit the shop. apparently, he had a bit other plans.
“so what’s a girl like you doing here at this hour?” i wasn’t in the mood for a small talk. glancing outside, it was already dark. i couldn’t help but wonder why ryujin wasn’t coming to help me like she said she would.
“…getting snacks.”
“well, that’s a lot of things. don’t you need a strong hand to help you carry them? even better, why don’t you go to mine? we can eat them together there.” i former a tight lipped smile and pulled out cash to pay.
“no, thank you. how much is my total?”
“oh, come on! it’s not like you have places to be, hmm? or you’re telling me that girl that’s been observing us is your girlfriend or some shit? i can take care of her too!” when he mentioned the girl, i immediately thought that ryujin finally came. to my surprise, when i turned to look for her, there wasn’t anyone standing away from us.
on the contrary, a cold presence suddenly appeared at my side, a slim hand encircling my waist.
“she already said no.” i stared at my unexpected saviour, kim minji. in the back of my mind i wondered, what was she doing in this part of the city? that wasn’t the problem at that moment thought.
“come on, little girl, her and i were just talking!” something shifted in minji’s gaze, but not in the way as it did when she looked at me. her eyes seemed colder than usual, which i didn’t know was possible.
“you were making her uncomfortable. let her pay and we’ll go.”
“but-!” something red flashed in minji’s eyes? she then turned her face away from me, but i could hear her voice got deeper.
“then we shall go now.” the man seemed struck in place, as if frozen with fear. i didn’t get a good look at him as minji carelessly threw at him a bill and dragged me away with the snacks.
“y/n! thank god, i was starting to get worried!” ryujin jumped out of the car the moment she saw me exit the shop, but halted her steps seeing the pale girl follow behind me. “minji? when did you get here?”
the girl in question pointed a car which stood a couple meters away from us. i could recognise it from the school’s parking lot.
“i drove here because hanni wanted some bread.” minji directed her gaze to me and whispered. “do you have bread?”
i nodded wordlessly.
“ah, that explains it. sorry i didn’t come when it got dark, y/nnie, lia called me.”
“about that, how about we hand you the snacks and i take y/n?”
“what? why do you need me?” she smiled, tightening her grip on my waist.
“i think it’s time you meet my friends.” ryujin seemed to think this over for a bit before she also nodded.
“that’s up to you, y/n. but if you wanna go, i’ll tell lia something came up.”
i looked up, meeting minji’s eyes. even though her hand on my waist was cold, her gaze seemed to hold uncharacteristic warmth in it. it was a big contrast to what i saw in the shop earlier.
“okay, i want to meet them.” i finally agreed. minji’s smile widened at my words. i handed the bag over to ryujin, after picking out the bread.
“it’s settled then. i’ll text lia later and send you the money for the snacks.”
“oh no, don’t bother-“
“i insist. minji, say hi to hyein from me and yeji, would you?” minji grinned in response, and in that smile, something caught my eye.
as the two of us walked towards her car, i held her cold palm and contemplated. kim minji had fangs.
as minji drove, i glanced at her as subtly as i could. chaeryeong’s words rang in my head like a alarm. maybe i should treat it as such. all the puzzle pieces were slowly coming together.
the cold skin.
the dark eyes, which turned reddish.
the abnormal speed.
the fangs.
kim minji was a vampire.
…
i almost laughed at myself. vampires aren’t real. then i gaze fell on her again.
…maybe they are real after all?
minji suddenly turned the car to stop on the side of the road. i almost got a heart attack as she looked at me.
“something is bothering you.” it wasn’t a question.
“no, it’s okay.” i tried to dismiss it.
“tell me, y/n.” it was embarrassing to think ‘oh yeah, she’s a vampire’ while staring straight at her.
“…it’s embarrassing!”
“go on.”
“i heard there were vampires in this area…” i muttered, averting my gaze to the outside. i could hear her chuckle.
“do you believe in vampires? are you scared they’ll get you here?”
“i wouldn’t say i’m scared they’d find me here-“
“that’s correct. they won’t come here because i’m with you.” she cut my words. that was practically the last confirmation i needed.
“y-you’re a vampire!” somehow thinking about the possibility wasn’t as scary as learning the truth. as if predicting my next moves, she quickly caught the both of my hands, preventing me from unlocking my belt and running away.
“took you longer than i thought to figure that out.” she was smiling at me. “you don’t have to be afraid, y/n. i would never hurt you.”
“p-please, let me go. let me go!” i screamed at her, trying to get out of her inhumanly strong grip.
“calm down, y/n. i said, calm down!” as she shouted, her fangs flashed in my eyes and before i could try and stop it, my mind went blank and my body went limp in the passenger seat of her car.
i had to admit, that was one of the best naps i’ve ever had. i laid on something comfortable and as i slowly regained consciousness, i could hear a couple voices around me.
“she knows?”
“did she try to spray you with holy water?!” i let out a groan, turning on my other side and hoping the voices would just shut up.
“i think it’s best if you guys leave for a second- that includes you, minji.”
“hey!”
“shut up…” i tried to hide my face deeper into the pillow my head rested on. a couple seconds later, i heard some footsteps getting away with hushed complains. then, a hand landed slowly on my arm.
“y/nnie, how about you open your eyes for me?” i groaned, but nonetheless did so. the view of a familiar person greeted me. it was the cat-like girl i saw in the cafeteria.
“there we go. good morning.” we stared at each other for a couple seconds. she blinked very slowly, like a cat. i didn’t know if i found that cute or weird. i lifted my hand to rub the sleepiness of my eyes.
“who are you?” i mumbled.
“hang haerin.” she answered. never once did we break our staring contest.
“i’m y/n.”
“i know.” she sniffed lightly. “you’re a human.”
“you can smell that?”
“no, that’s hyein. i’m a pixy.” my eyes widened. it hit me then, that i didn’t imagine that scene with minji.
“i can feel you panicking, you know? it’s annoying.”
“is she calm yet?” a voice called from somewhere outside the room.
“she hasn’t moved.” the girl replied, not breaking eye contact with me.
“oh thank god, i was afraid one of you would hurt the other.” i immediately recognised that voice as minji’s. loosing the staring concert, i cracked my neck looking at her.
“you’re a vampire.”
“and you pass out from every other thing.” she gave a teasing smile, but soon dropped it when she noticed i was still looking at her blankly.
“you’re a vampire and she is a pixy.” i directed my gaze to the three figures huddling behind minji, before returning to the pale girl. “what are they?”
“hanni and danielle are also vampires, hyein is a therianthrope.” one of the girls smiled at me so brightly i was surprised she didn’t burn the rest like the sun.
“it’s nice to officially meet you! minji told us a lot-“ my vampire friend covered the shapeshifter’s mouth with her palm.
“not a word, hyein.”
“so what happens now?”
“what do you mean?”
“well, since i know your secret, will you sacrifice me in some ritual, or use to feed?” while i had a very serious expression, the rest of the girls (excluding the pixy) started laughing. minji wiped a imaginary tear as she cackled.
“h-hah, you really thought we’d do something like that?”
“i mean, i didn’t think there were any vampires, so jumping to any and every conclusions seems good…”
“god, let me just explain everything to you.”
a week passed. i was slowly able to wrap my head around the whole vampire situation. the hardest part was that i couldn’t share my thoughts with my friend group, especially remembering how chaeryeong reacted the last time.
i remembered to say hi to hyein for yeji and ryujin. the younger girl visibly brightened when i did so, but she offered no explanation. i found it quite weird how the trio could know each other, but i had better matters at hand.
the dance.
a very typical, corny dance party, that i normally wouldn’t be bothered to attend, but after jisu talked my ear off how embarrassing it would be for me to miss it, i had no choice.
no choice and no partner.
pondering over that, i sat in the cafeteria, peacefully munching my sandwich. lia, ryujin and yuna chatted away as usual, very engrossed in their conversation. then, a small crumbled paper fell on my tray. i was about to look up and beat someone up, when i noticed it was minji who just went by our table.
slightly suspicious, i unfolded the piece of paper.
‘meet me behind the school at 6 today?’
i hid the note in my pocket. i could see minji glance at me a couple times, which earned her multiple smacks from hanni.
class ended before 5 that day, and it was already dark outside. damned cold months.
as i stood on the hallway, hanni, danielle and haerin passed by me. the first two greeted me with a small wave, while the pixy gave a small nod. a couple moments later, hyein ran after them, throwing me a small greeting.
they certainly were a interesting bunch.
when the young therianthrope followed her group, i was left alone again. the time on my phone read 5:10. i still had much time to spare. with nothing better to do, i lazily went on my way, to the back of the school.
it was actually a pretty interesting setting. a human, a vampire, dark place closed off from passer-by’s. maybe i still had the chance to become a sacrifice in a ritual.
“you’re early.” i was surprised to see minji already present at the spot.
“you’re even earlier?”
“i guess i am.” she looked down slightly. kim minji?
“uh, can we speak now? i don’t really feel the need to stand here another 40 minutes until it’s 6, you know?”
“how do you know i’m not going to perform a ritual on you that needs to be executed at exactly 6 pm?” she had a point there.
“i can only hope not.”
“actually-“
“we’d like that sacrifice offer.” before i could so much as turn my head, a shadow appeared in front of me. he had a smirk on his face, but not the pleasant kind i was used to. his eyes glimmered just like minji’s, with dangerous shades of red.
“christopher you-!” two other men were holding minji. i had no time to focus on them as i felt a burning sensation in my neck. a couple milliseconds later, the wound became numb.
“m-minji…” unwillingly, i closed my eyes. the last thing i saw was my pale friend freeing herself from the hold of the two men. the rest happened without me conscious.
i could for sure say i disliked the feeling of being bitten by a vampire. sadly, fate liked to play jokes on me, and the feeling that woke me up was in fact minji sucking on my neck.
“minji what the fuck!”i shrieked, pushing her away. to my surprise, there was no blood around her mouth.
“oh god, you’re awake.” as quickly as i pushed her away, she was back on my side, this time hogging my frame to her body. we were back again at the place where she and the rest of her friends lived.
“what the fuck were you doing just now, kim minji?” i asked her sharply.
“i sucked out the venom.”
“what?”
“christopher- that bastard we- he tried to kill you! the venom made you fall asleep and could be deadly had danielle not thought of this way. i owe her ice cream now.”
“…thank you, then.” i mumbled. minji smirked playfully at my response.
“hey, do you wanna know why i called you over to the back of the school?”
“so it wasn’t because of the three other vampires?” i asked sarcastically.
“would you go to the dance with me?”
her hand on my waist. even though the fabric, i could feel how cold it was. the both of us were finally leaving the dance floor after what felt like 20 different, slow dance songs. the girl on my side seemed to be really enjoying herself.
we briefly met her friends and they congratulated us. again, we were on our way, this time outside. there was a small bench still on the school grounds, which was nicely illuminated by the lamps and the moon. i glanced at her. a cute habit i’ve noticed, her pointy teeth stuck out a bit when she was thinking of something really hard.
“what are you pondering on, minji?” i asked after a couple moments of silence.
“you. your safety. what should i do with you.”
“what do you mean?” she sighed, directing her palm to hold my hand. she gently massaged over my knuckles before speaking again.
“it’s dangerous for you to be with us. there are people, like chirstopher, who won’t hesitate to hurt anyone dear to us.”
“then, can’t i become a vampire too?” i asked excitedly. her face fell momentarily as her grip tightened.
“no.”
“why not?”
“because i said so.”
“that’s-!”
“stop insisting, y/n.” i glanced at her side profile. even with her jaw clenched, the moon illuminated her beautifully. she turned to catch my eyes.
maybe vampires aren’t so bad after all.

Minji’s Remedy: Love as Medicine
MinjiXfemreader
Synopsis:Minji devotes an entire day to lovingly caring for her sick girlfriend, proving that love is the greatest remedy.
warning:No one
A/n:I really wrote this story during my French class XD
The biting winter wind howled against the apartment windows, leaving a thin layer of frost that sparkled under the pale daylight. Inside, Y/n lay stretched out on the living room couch, bundled in a thick blanket. A harsh, painful cough shook her weakened body, her usually vibrant face pale and marked by fever. She hadn’t found the strength to get up that morning; every movement felt like an enormous effort.
Minji, her attentive girlfriend, was in the kitchen, worry etched across her face. The moment she had seen Y/n’s condition upon waking, she knew the day would be dedicated entirely to taking care of her. Minji wasn’t one to hesitate or falter in moments like these. She took charge with quiet determination and unwavering love.
A Difficult Morning
Minji entered the living room with a tray in her hands. It held a cup of honey-lemon tea, a plate of sliced fruit, and a small towel soaked in warm water. She placed the tray on the coffee table and sat beside Y/n, whose eyes opened halfway. Minji smiled softly, her fingers brushing Y/n’s feverish cheek.
“How are you feeling, love?” Minji asked in a comforting voice.
“Like a truck ran me over,” Y/n replied with a raspy laugh, followed by another coughing fit.
Minji frowned, visibly pained to see her in such a state. “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of you. You don’t have to do anything today except rest.”
She picked up the tea and brought it to Y/n’s lips, gently supporting her as she sipped. The warmth soothed Y/n’s sore throat, and she closed her eyes in relief. Setting the tea down, Minji used the warm towel to dab Y/n’s forehead and temples, trying to reduce her fever.
“You know,” Minji said with a faint smile, “you don’t have to act tough with me. If you’re feeling awful, just tell me, okay?”
Y/n nodded, touched by Minji’s care. “Thank you for being here for me. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
Minji gazed at her tenderly. “You’ll never have to find out because I’m not going anywhere.”
A Day of Care
After ensuring Y/n was comfortable on the couch, Minji got to work preparing everything Y/n might need. She started by making homemade soup, blending fresh vegetables and medicinal herbs. The kitchen, usually her playground for experimenting with new recipes, was now transformed into a healing haven.
As the soup simmered, Minji returned frequently to the living room to check on Y/n. She adjusted the blankets, offered her water or tea, and gently held her hand, providing constant reassurance.
“You know,” Y/n said weakly but with a hint of humor, “I think you’re more efficient than a professional nurse.”
Minji laughed. “Well, I might be a bit too emotionally involved for that. But if it makes you feel better, I’m happy.”
When the soup was ready, Minji brought a steaming bowl to the living room. She sat beside Y/n, spoon-feeding her carefully. Though Y/n was reluctant at first, she ended up finishing most of the bowl. The soup’s warmth seemed to revive her slightly.
“You’re amazing, you know that?” Y/n murmured, her eyes shining with gratitude.
Minji shook her head with a modest smile. “I’m just doing what anyone would do for the person they love.”
A Moment of Respite
After eating, Y/n felt well enough to chat a bit. Minji suggested putting on a movie to lighten the mood. She picked a light romantic comedy, knowing it was one of Y/n’s favorite genres. As they watched, Y/n snuggled against her, resting her head on Minji’s shoulder.
“You’re so warm,” Y/n murmured, her voice nearly a whisper. “It’s like you’re my little ray of sunshine.”
Minji’s heart swelled at the words. She wrapped her arms around Y/n, pressing a kiss to her forehead. “And you’re my everything. I’m here, okay? Always.”
A Quiet Afternoon
The afternoon passed peacefully. Ever-vigilant, Minji continued monitoring Y/n’s condition, frequently checking her temperature and ensuring she stayed hydrated. She also made sure Y/n was entertained without exerting herself. At one point, she offered to read aloud, bringing a smile to Y/n’s face.
“What should I read?” Minji asked, scanning the bookshelf.
“That one,” Y/n said, pointing to a romance novel they’d started together but never finished.
Minji settled beside Y/n and opened the book, her soft voice filling the room. She read with such emotion that Y/n felt transported into the story. For a moment, she forgot her illness, carried away by the words and Minji’s comforting presence.
A Moment of Vulnerability
Later in the day, Y/n was suddenly overwhelmed by a wave of emotion. The physical pain, combined with Minji’s tender care, brought tears to her eyes. Alarmed, Minji immediately set the book down and enveloped her in a hug.
“What’s wrong, love? Does it hurt too much?” she asked, her voice trembling with concern.
Y/n shook her head. “No… it’s not that. I’m just… so lucky to have you. You’re always here for me, even when I’m at my lowest. I don’t know if I deserve all this.”
Minji tightened her embrace, her own eyes glistening with tears. “Y/n, listen to me. You deserve all the love in the world and more. You’re the most important person in my life, and there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you. You don’t have to feel guilty or unworthy. I’m here because I love you, plain and simple.”
They stayed wrapped in each other’s arms for a while, a silence filled with understanding and comfort enveloping them.
A Peaceful Evening
As night fell, Minji helped Y/n into bed. She adjusted the pillows, made sure the blankets were snug, and then sat beside her.
“Do you want me to stay with you tonight?” Minji asked.
Y/n nodded faintly. “Please. I always sleep better when you’re here.”
Minji smiled and slipped under the covers, wrapping an arm around Y/n. She gently stroked her hair, whispering words of love and silent promises. Gradually, Y/n drifted off, her breathing evening out as her fever began to subside.
Minji stayed awake a little longer, watching over her like a vigilant guardian. Though Y/n was still weak, Minji could see she was improving. And as long as she was there, she’d do everything in her power to make Y/n feel loved and supported.
Love as a Remedy
The next morning, when Y/n opened her eyes, she found Minji asleep beside her, arms still wrapped around her. She felt immediately comforted, a wave of gratitude washing over her. Though not fully recovered, she knew she would get better because Minji was by her side.
“Thank you,” she whispered, pressing a kiss to Minji’s forehead.
Minji opened one eye, smiling faintly. “It’s my job to take care of you, remember? And I’d do it over and over again because I love you.”
Y/n smiled, tears glistening in her eyes. In that quiet yet powerful moment, she realized once again that Minji’s love was the greatest remedy of all.

leading lady - 1.4. getting the role (of tissue papers) [half written]
previous | next
it was a bit awkward to explain to the nurse how y/n ended up getting a nosebleed and a reddened forehead with a panicking minji. the nurse couldn’t even understand what she was saying as y/n held her by the arm trying to calm her down.
in the small sterile clinic, y/n sat stiffly by the edge of the bed, an ice pack pressed against the bridge of her nose, while her other hand was clutching onto a bloodied handkerchief. her gaze would briefly shift between minji then onto the handkerchief. she had placed a tissue paper on her nose.
minji stood beside her, gently holding onto another ice pack to her forehead. both would look at the other then quickly look away with one thought in mind ‘this is awkward’.
“i’m sorry.” it was quiet, the awkward tension still lingering between them. “i’m so sorry… i should have been more careful.”
“it’s fine,” her voice was slightly muffled. “accidents happen.”
she shifted slightly, wincing a bit as she looked up at her. her expression softening as minji quickly glances at her then away. ‘cute.’
“you know…” minji looks up, not realizing how close their faces are. y/n wasn’t looking, her gaze fixated on the floor as she adjusted the ice pack on her nose. “i remember you back in high school, kim minji, right?”
“yeah… how do you-“
“funny story.” y/n smiles, gaze still fixed to the floor as she tries to reach for the tissue paper - minji handed it to her. “i had a crush on you back then.”
‘till now actually’ she couldn’t admit that, but at least she’s doing something about this small crush she has had since high school.
minji blinked, holding onto the roll of tissue paper that almost slipped from the sudden revelation that the violet had a crush on her back in high school.
“me?” she points at herself, as y/n nodded taking the tissue roll, a small fond smile on her face.
“yup, you were and still are so talented when you’re on stage like - you truly shine and i was merely there watching you rehearse that it felt like i was watching someone from broadway perform.”
she smiles, followed by a nervous yet genuine laugh that made y/n look up at her, eyes squinting a bit out of curiosity and confusion.
“sorry, it’s just-“
“that i blurt out a confession?” minji shook her head as she checked on y/n’s forehead, removing the ice pack and seeing that it’s no longer red. only their cheeks with a hint of blush from how bizarre this entire situation is.
“no, but i used to have a crush on you as well, but never really said anything.” y/n choked on her own spit as she looked up at minji, all this time there was something but she just chose not to say anything. clearing her throat as she sits up straight, directly looking at minji as her mind processes the confession.
“what?”
“i mean, you were pretty much popular back then and now-“ minji fixes y/n’s bangs, a fond smile as she looks at the older girl in front of her. a piece of tissue paper on her nose, a bit of dried blood on her upper lip, a shocked expression. “you’re a model, im violet. i’m surprised you had a crush on me.”
y/n couldn’t say anything, her mind filled with questions, what ifs - it's like she’s back in the tech booth admiring minji from afar even if she’s standing right in front of her. she feels something soft on her forehead for a second, the feeling lingering a bit as minji places her hand on top of hers, a gentle squeeze.
“they say kisses heal wounds.” kim minji kissed her forehead. y/n doesn’t understand where the boldness came from but she wants more of it. whatever minji is doing to her, she wants it - ‘fuck.’
“is that your way of making it up to me?” y/n tries to deflect those fleeting feelings that she once believed was gone. it was long buried until she saw her again, kim minji still has her wrapped around her finger.
minji laughs as she sits next to y/n, her hand gently placed on top of hers as she takes in the current state y/n is in. it’s funny, some would assume that y/n got into a fight and this was their way of confessing to each other their undying feelings.
in reality, minji smacked a door onto y/n’s face.
after a few minutes of silence, y/n laughed, throwing away another bloody tissue paper. minji gave her the roll once more as she soon joined in on the laughter shared between them.
“can we-“ y/n stood up, throwing away all of the bloody tissue papers as she turned around back at minji. “-start over?”
the younger girl nodded, stretching her hand out for y/n to take.
“hi, i’m kim minji and i’m sorry for smacking your face with a door.” she takes it, smiling as she looks up, her face now clear of any tissue paper shoved up her nose.
“im y/n, and you’re forgiven.” as they both let go, the curtain was then abruptly moved to the side as their respective friends came rushing and panting looking at the pair.
yeji was the first to check up on y/n, holding her by the cheek and moving her head side to side and pulling her down to further inspect any injuries. minji shook her head with a teasing smile as she watched y/n’s friends ask questions and check up on the girl.
“guys, i’m fine.” there’s a bright smile plastered on her face as she quickly glances at minji. “i had a great nurse.”

[flufftober day 17, wc: 975] - carnival : enchanted (or not)
AS A WITCH, the witchery related attractions at carnivals made by non-witches are a sort of entertainment to you. some witches and wizards take offense to it, since there are several misconceptions that come along with the booths.
for one: witches aren’t green. you don’t know where that piece of information came from, but that one, at least, makes you queasy. you don’t know what you would do if you suddenly turned green; it would also probably scare everyone off. with this in mind, you fail to hold in your giggles when you stop by the witches and witchcraft booth at the carnival minji not-so-subtly invited you to.
(“so, there’s this carnival coming up…”
“yeah? the one on the 17th? what about it?”
“um. just saying.”
“we can go if you want to, you know.”
“really?”
“really.”)
minji’s staring at the cauldron that is currently overflowing with fog from a fog machine, enthralled by the display. there’s someone in an exaggerated witch costume, green skin and big hat and all, stirring the pot with some generic witch laugh sound effect playing from a jbl speaker.
she turns to you with sparkles in her eyes, not saying anything.
“what?” you smile, “say, do you think i’d look cute with green skin?”
the girl thinks for a second before shrugging. “i think you look cute either way.”
“you’re an angel. imagine if hanni had green skin.”
your girlfriend makes a face, and you have to stifle your giggle because she looks so unamused. “she’d look more like a generic witch than you do. thanks for ruining my perception of her, i won’t be able to unsee it.”
“you two, young couple flirting over there!” the witch calls, beckoning you over with her hand. she sounds suspiciously like hyein. you and minji share a look, scoffing playfully at the remark she added, before strolling over to the cauldron.
the witch (or hyein, you confirm it’s her after she accidentally adds an ‘-unnie’ at the end of addressing you again) waves a hand over the cauldron, and the sound effect of the laughter plays again, making you snort and nudge minji. “this was you a few months ago, except you failed.”
“can you stop bringing that up?” she whines, having flashbacks of the failed love potion. despite getting what she wanted in the end anyway, you still tease her for it to this day. “i didn’t need the potion in the end, anyway.”
“close your eyes, lovebirds,” witch™ whispers, and the both of you oblige. there’s a beat of shuffling and the sound of something being moved, and then you’re allowed to open your eyes again. “some candy apples for you.”
well, if the general public’s opinion of witches was that they give random couples they see, free candy apples, then you’re all the more happy to be one of those couples, especially at the way minji has this goofy smile on her face after she takes the first bite. thanks, hyein.
after leaving the booth, you walk around the carnival a while longer. there’s several game booths (which minji tried dozens of times to win at ring toss to win you a black cat plush wearing a witch hat, which you hug to your chest with your left hand, the right one holding minji’s hand) and some rides, although you’re skipping those tonight after eating some suspicious pie at another booth. keep this hush-hush, but you did hex the person who gave it to you with a spell that causes them to cough out frogs for the rest of the night.
upon approaching a strength test game (you know, with the hammer and the meter) you’re met with danielle, who fails to scare the both of you, and haerin, who gives a small nod. the werewolf is wearing fake wolf ears (which is weird because she could’ve just had her real ones out) and the vampire is wearing a black and red vampire-esque coat. very funny. you should’ve showed up with your witch hat and broom, too.
danielle insists on winning you and minji a prize from the game, and then marches over to the attendant to pay for a single play. the guy looks terrified by her booming energy.
“watch,” you point at the werewolf, “she’s gonna break it.”
danielle turns around, scowling in jest, before pointing at the three of you and winking. and, well, as expected, she breaks the stick of the hammer in half just as it makes contact with the large puck. minji has to hold onto you, shoulders shaking with laughter while haerin snickers but averts her eyes, a silent ‘i don’t know her’ written all over her face and in her posture.
you grin, “i told you.”
the attendant is so afraid of the werewolf’s (he probably doesn’t know about that fact) strength that you guys get a prize anyway, although you’re not quite sure whether it’s because of her strength, or because he was scared of her. either way, a win in your book. and a brown bear with glasses makes its way into minji’s arms.
danielle and haerin leave, something about seeing some security guard mutter something into their walkie-talkie while staring directly at them, and you and minji decide to leave as well.
“i feel like this is going to happen every time we go someplace like this,” you beam, swinging your intertwined hands back and forth.
minji chuckles in amusement, “but at least we had fun, right? i really liked the fairy place.”
your head whips to her, gasping, “you prefer fairies over witches? witches are totally cooler than fairies, i’ll have you know! no offense, wonyoung,” you think of your best friend who’s also at the carnival, “she has super-hearing.”
she panics, shaking her head vehemently, “when did i ever say that!?”
you’re definitely coming back next year.
