"do you have any favorite lipstick, y/n?" you read. your eyes beam when someone finally mentions it, "yes, i do have one! it's a very very cute one, and i have been wanting to show this to you guys for quite some time..."
minji watches you standing from your seat and heading to get your bag. you rummage through it, not noticing minji staring at you with low-lidded eyes.
you come back with your hands intertwined and a large smile on your face, sitting back down on the chair with minji's arm resting on your chair's armrest.
you looked excited as you took another second to read the comments, "are you guys ready?" it was like talking to kindergartens. it made minji smile knowingly behind you.
then you open your locked hands, revealing a rather medium sized lip balm. "it's a caramel flavored, guys! one of my favorite flavors in the world is chocolate and caramel."
you rotate the mentioned item to the camera, making sure to get every detail you could get.
"since they don't have chocolate flavored, i took the caramel one! it's called 'nikky luck balm' and it's one of the infamous ones out there, so i just took it without hesitation." you laugh, opening the lid and turning to minji.
"i'll let you smell it first."
you said as you reach the open lidded balm to the older girl, who kept her eyes on you before averting it away to lean close to the item. she sniffs and lets out a small hum of content.
"oh, that does smell so nice. do you have it on you today?" she suddenly asks, leaning back to her chair as she stares at you blankly.
you blink before shaking your head, "i haven't actually. wait, let me just-" immediately, you turn to the camera and slightly get close to apply the lip balm onto your lips.
minji continues to watch you, covering her mouth with her hand and her cap slightly shielding her eyes from the camera, but anyone can catch a glimpse of where it landed.
pursing your lips together, you smile happily to see your lips gleaming and neatly applied. you were satisfied at your own work. "heh."
when you turn to minji, you give her a look when you notice her blank stare. "you want some too?" you ask genuinely, not seeming to notice what's going on behind minji's eyes.
minji blinks twice before smiling and removing her hand from her mouth, "sure." as if you know, you gently rub your finger on the balm and carefully apply it on her lips.
with the same finger you used to apply the balm on your own lips.
her lips are instinctively slightly parted for you to have better access on applying it, and you appreciated that small gesture.
but of course, you didn't notice her gaze on you.
after a little while, you sent a rather cute smile— unintentionally, but you were excited and satisfied— and leaned back to look more at minji's gleaming lips with your balm.
"hmm. looks great on you~" you hum in satisfaction, nodding your way as you slowly turn to the camera while closing the lid of your lip balm.
beside you, minji turns to the camera and smirks with one of her brows bobbing slightly.
fans were screaming in the comments and certainly squealing in real life, anyone can tell.

"you know, my mom..." you started, looking into her phone to look for your conversation with your mom. minji was leaning towards the camera to read the comments.
when she hears you letting out a small sigh, she turns to you to listen attentively.
"she keeps sending me money even when i told her not to." you sulk quietly, pouting at minji as you gave her your phone. she took it and read what you both were talking about.
"i told her not to send me money because they need it for their grocery every week. even dad tries to convince her that i'll manage, but like," you shake your head with pursed lips.
minji didn't even finish reading the conversation, already had her head to you. she ended up staring at your lips as you talked about your mom and dad.
until the very end of the ranting, she didn't take her eyes away from your lips but she had to when you turned to her suddenly, thinking that she wasn't listening to you.
fans always catch on these kinds of things, so it became so obvious that they're flaming the comments again.

you were starting to feel hot in your comfy jacket, then when looking behind for the remote, it was actually turned off.
"wait," you muttered quietly, standing from your seat and walking towards the remote to turn it on. but knowing that the aircon will take time to cold up the room, you decided to remove your jacket.
"girl, you didn't even notice the aircon was off?" you chuckle, sitting back again with your jacket on your lap, revealing your black tank top that was underneath the former jacket.
she shrugs, taking a quick glance at your top before looking at your jacket. "give." she only said before snatching the jacket from your hands.
you didn't mind, though you gave her a look again before turning to read the comments and replying to them.
and minji just burying her face on your jacket before putting her legs up and rest her chin on her knee with your jacket underneath her head.

after leaving minji alone in her live to buy snacks and drinks since you haven't eaten yet. she insists that she'll buy them instead, but you were stubborn and immediately left the room, leaving minji alone sulking.
talking and chit-chatting with the fans to kill time, and after a little while, you finally came back with the familiar paper bag. you grin towards the camera and immediately sat on the chair, handing the bag to her.
"i bought a lot, so choose any." you coolly tells her, leaning forward to the phone to read the comments.
feeling the eagerness, minji quickly opens and take out a snack that she first saw. "ohh, i like this one! dani likes it too, i think." she said, reading the name of the snack before ripping it open.
hearing the sound, you turn to her to see her munching on it already. you laugh at her chubby cheeks, holding back the urge to pinch them and instead, you shift towards her and opens your mouth.
minji glances, cheeks turning rosy. she takes one from the wrap and carefully throwing it onto your open mouth, her fingers accidentally brushes against your pink lips.
she tries not to flinch at the sudden shiver, but seeing you smirking at her while chewing the food made her heart erupting like a volcano.
though, she plays it cool.
minutes later, you were drinking your soda while minji was still eating with a new snack this time. you burped quietly as you place the soda can on the table, then you felt a soft nudge.
you turn to see minji bobbing her brows at you, "soda?" she mumbles softly, and damn, it sounded so small and adorable to you.
chuckling, you take the soda can from the table and hands it to her. minji takes it from your hand and drinks it directly, not bothering to distance her lips from the spot you were drinking.
fans, at this point, are destroying the comment section on live.

"i love this perfume because i got it from hanni's mom! she's the sweetest, i swear," you cry, moved by how sweet your member's mom is to you despite not seeing each other too often as you hoped.
you lightly describe the scent of the perfume and how you take it daily ever since you received the item. minji listens carefully and remembers something.
"oh, this perfume? ohh, i really like this smell too!" minji chimes in, excitement in her voice was visible as it got louder. "the members also like it, especially dani and she has never stop trying to go to you to take a sniff."
you both laugh at the memory of danielle constantly sticking to your side everywhere because of your scent. even during practice and you were a bit sweaty, but that didn't stop dani from, basically, breathing the scent of you.
(weird? ok.)
the perfume scent lasts longer than a day, and since you had it last night on your skin, the smell was still there, fresh as new. and minji— oh, minji.
moments later, she was already sniffing and smelling you while leaning on you. you kept yapping about your day and moments with your members, and you just let minji do what she wants.
even if that wants is her leaning on you and smelling your perfume with a soft smile.
oh lord, please help thy bunnies fans.

Sweet like Sin - Kim Minji x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
10k words
Y/N sat at a gleaming desk, absently twirling her quill as Archangel Gabrielle approached with her signature no-nonsense stride. A scroll materialized in her hand, glowing faintly with divine energy.
“Y/N,” Gabrielle began, her tone stern yet warm. “We’ve decided on your next assignment.”
Y/N perked up, brushing an errant strand of her halo-like light back into place. She loved assignments—they were her chance to guide humans toward a brighter path, to be the beacon of hope she was born to be.
Gabrielle placed the scroll on the desk. “You’ve been paired with a demon.”
The quill fell from Y/N’s hand, clattering onto the marble surface. “A demon?!”
Gabrielle nodded, the faintest hint of amusement in her usually impassive face. “Yes. Every demon gets a guardian angel. We believe this one has potential. It’s your job to bring it out.”
“But—but demons are incorrigible! They don’t listen, they don’t care, and they definitely don’t bake cookies for charity!”
Gabrielle raised a brow. “That’s why it’s your assignment, Y/N. You’ve always excelled in... stubborn cases.”
Y/N groaned, dramatically flopping her head onto the desk. “Fine. Who is it?”
Gabrielle unfurled the scroll with a wave of her hand, revealing an elegant name written in celestial script: Kim Minji.
Y/N squinted. “Never heard of her. Is she one of those fire-and-brimstone types? Or a sulky goth type?”
Gabrielle gave her a knowing smile. “You’ll find out soon enough.”
--
Moments later, Y/N stood in the assigned meeting spot, a tranquil meadow just beyond the pearly gates. She fidgeted, wings twitching nervously. In the distance, a faint shimmer appeared, growing closer and more vivid until a figure stepped through.
Y/N stiffened.
The demon wasn’t at all what she expected.
Instead of horns and a tail or a shadowy aura of menace, Minji looked... adorable. She had shoulder-length dark hair that framed her youthful, smiling face, and her black outfit seemed more chic than sinister. She waved enthusiastically as she approached, her grin dazzling and completely disarming.
“Hi there!” Minji chirped, practically bouncing on her heels. “Are you my guardian angel?”
Y/N blinked, unsure how to process the sheer sunshine radiating off this supposed demon. “Uh... yes? I’m Y/N.”
Minji clasped her hands together, eyes wide with delight. “Wow, you’re even prettier than I imagined! I hit the jackpot!”
Y/N felt her cheeks heat, her wings fluffing involuntarily. “Excuse me?”
Minji giggled, clearly enjoying the angel’s flustered reaction. “Oh, nothing. So, what’s the plan? Do we go cloud-hopping? Maybe you show me how to play the harp?”
Y/N shook herself out of her daze, glaring at Minji. “This isn’t a vacation. I’m here to help you grow kinder and—hopefully—redeem yourself.”
Minji tilted her head, looking genuinely intrigued. “Redeem myself? For what? I haven’t done anything bad today. Unless you count stealing Gabriel’s chocolate stash last week. But honestly, he shouldn’t leave it lying around like that.”
“You stole chocolate from an archangel?!”
Minji shrugged, her grin cheeky. “What can I say? It was calling my name.”
Y/N pinched the bridge of her nose, muttering to herself. “This is going to be a long assignment.”
Minji stepped closer, hands clasped behind her back as she peered up at Y/N with an innocent expression. “Don’t worry, angel. I’m sure we’ll get along great. I mean, look at us—we’re a match made in Heaven! Well, and Hell.”
Y/N shot her a pointed glare. “Let’s get one thing straight. I’m not here to be your friend. I’m here to do my job.”
Minji smirked, clearly undeterred. “Sure, sure. But I bet you’ll like me eventually. Everyone does.”
“We’ll see about that.”
As they began walking toward their first session, Y/N tried to shake off the uneasy feeling in her chest. Minji might be a demon, but her smile was far too warm—and far too charming—for Y/N’s peace of mind.
“By the way,” Minji said, glancing at her. “Do guardian angels always look this good, or am I just lucky?”
Y/N groaned. This was definitely going to be a long assignment.
--
Y/N hovered just above the ground, arms crossed and eyes narrowed. She scanned the meadow, her angelic senses on high alert. After the whirlwind that was Minji’s introduction, she’d spent the last few hours mentally preparing for whatever absurd antics the demon might pull next.
“This is fine,” Y/N muttered to herself, pacing in a small circle. “She’s probably plotting something. Maybe she’ll try to tempt me with—”
“Cookies!”
Y/N whirled around, her wings flaring instinctively. Standing behind her was Minji, holding a tray piled high with what appeared to be freshly baked cookies. The demon’s smile was wide and impossibly innocent, and the sunlight bouncing off her dark hair made her look far more angelic than Y/N was comfortable admitting.
“What,” Y/N said flatly, her gaze flicking between Minji and the cookies, “is this?”
Minji lifted the tray slightly, the smell of chocolate and caramel wafting toward Y/N. “Cookies! I baked them just for you.”
Y/N blinked, momentarily speechless. “You... baked cookies?”
Minji nodded enthusiastically, her grin never wavering. “Yep! I figured since it’s our first real meeting, I should make a good impression. I even used organic ingredients! You angels are into that, right?”
Y/N stared, trying to process the scene before her. “This has to be some kind of trick. Did you lace them with... I don’t know, sin or something?”
Minji gasped, clutching the tray dramatically to her chest. “How dare you accuse me of cookie corruption? These are pure, unadulterated baked goods. Scout’s honor!”
“You were never a scout,” Y/N deadpanned.
“Details.” Minji stepped closer, holding out the tray. “Come on, just try one. They’re not poisoned, I swear. Unless you’re allergic to deliciousness.”
Y/N hesitated, eyeing the cookies with suspicion. She wasn’t naïve enough to trust a demon, no matter how sweet they seemed—or smelled. But as Minji’s expectant gaze bore into her, Y/N found herself reaching out despite her better judgment.
She picked up a cookie, examining it like it was a cursed artifact. It looked... perfect. Golden brown, gooey chocolate chips, a sprinkling of sea salt on top. Against her will, her stomach rumbled.
Minji giggled, clearly pleased. “See? Even your celestial stomach knows what’s up.”
“Quiet,” Y/N muttered, breaking off a small piece of the cookie. She sniffed it, half-expecting it to burst into flames. When it didn’t, she cautiously took a bite.
The taste was heavenly.
Y/N froze, her eyes widening. The cookie melted in her mouth, the perfect balance of sweet and salty. It was, without question, the best thing she’d ever tasted.
“So?” Minji asked, leaning in with a hopeful smile. “What do you think?”
Y/N forced herself to swallow, quickly adopting a neutral expression. “It’s... acceptable.”
Minji’s grin grew wider. “Oh, come on! That was a celestial-sized bite of joy, and you know it.”
“It’s a cookie,” Y/N replied, striving for nonchalance. “Nothing more.”
Minji gasped, placing a hand over her heart as if wounded. “How dare you downplay my culinary masterpiece? That cookie could solve wars.”
“Or start them,” Y/N muttered under her breath.
Despite her feigned indifference, Y/N couldn’t stop herself from taking another bite. She hated how good it was—and how much she hated that she didn’t hate Minji for it.
“Alright,” Y/N said after finishing the cookie, brushing crumbs off her pristine robes. “What’s your angle?”
Minji tilted her head, her expression genuinely confused. “Angle? What do you mean?”
“You’re a demon. There’s always an angle. Are you trying to butter me up so I’ll give you a glowing review? Or maybe you think if you act sweet, I’ll just ignore all your past sins.”
Minji’s smile softened, and she set the tray of cookies on a nearby rock. “Y/N, not every demon is out to manipulate you. Some of us just... like making people happy.”
Y/N arched a skeptical brow. “You’re saying you genuinely enjoy baking cookies for other people?”
Minji nodded, her gaze earnest. “Baking makes me feel calm. And seeing someone smile because of something I made? It’s the best feeling.”
For a moment, Y/N was taken aback. Minji’s words didn’t feel like the calculated charm of a manipulative demon. They felt... sincere.
“That doesn’t sound very demonic,” Y/N admitted cautiously.
Minji shrugged, her smile turning sheepish. “Yeah, well... I’m not exactly your textbook demon. I mean, I do my job—I tempt people, cause a little chaos here and there—but it’s not who I am all the time, you know?”
Y/N frowned, trying to reconcile Minji’s words with everything she’d been taught about demons. “If you don’t like being a demon, why not try to change?”
Minji looked away, her playful demeanor dimming slightly. “It’s not that simple. Once you’re marked as a demon, people expect you to act a certain way. Even if I wanted to... be different, it’s not like anyone would believe me. Except maybe you.”
The weight of Minji’s words hung in the air, and for the first time, Y/N felt a pang of sympathy for her assignment.
“Well,” Y/N said after a moment, trying to lighten the mood, “if you’re serious about changing, maybe start by not stealing archangels’ chocolate.”
Minji’s laugh was bright and melodic, a sound that caught Y/N off guard. “Noted. No more chocolate thievery. So... does this mean I passed the first meeting?”
Y/N sighed, glancing at the tray of cookies. “You didn’t set anything on fire or try to sell my soul, so I guess that’s a good start.”
Minji beamed. “I’ll take it!”
--
Y/N stood in front of the ominous-looking black door, wings twitching with unease. “So, this is your lair?” she asked, eyeing the ornate, gothic architecture with suspicion. “Why am I not surprised it screams ‘demonic chic’?”
“Don’t judge a book by its cover, angel,” Minji said, her tone chipper. She leaned against the doorframe, her dark eyes sparkling with amusement. “You might actually like it inside.”
Y/N crossed her arms. “I highly doubt that.”
Minji smirked, reaching for the handle. “Suit yourself. But if you don’t come in, you’ll miss out on my famous hot chocolate.”
“Hot chocolate?” Y/N repeated, her skepticism growing. “What kind of demon has hot chocolate in their lair?”
“The kind who knows how to live!” Minji chirped, pushing the door open with a dramatic flourish.
Y/N braced herself for the worst—screams of the damned, sulfuric smoke, grotesque decor. But as the door swung open, her jaw dropped.
Minji’s lair was... cozy.
The walls were painted a soft pastel pink, adorned with fairy lights and framed posters of serene landscapes. A plush couch sat in the center of the room, surrounded by mismatched but charming furniture. A fluffy white rug sprawled across the floor, and a collection of potted plants thrived in one corner.
“What... is this?” Y/N asked, stepping inside as if she were walking into an alternate reality.
“My humble abode,” Minji said proudly, kicking off her boots and flopping onto the couch. “Make yourself at home. Want a blanket? I have at least ten.”
Y/N blinked, unsure how to process the scene before her. “This doesn’t make any sense. You’re a demon. Where’s the fire? The brimstone? The souls writhing in agony?”
Minji propped her head up on one hand, grinning. “Oh, come on. That’s such a stereotype. Do you really think I’d live somewhere so depressing? I need good vibes to thrive.”
Y/N narrowed her eyes. “You’re telling me the underworld lets you decorate like this?”
“Not exactly,” Minji admitted, twirling a strand of hair around her finger. “Technically, I’m supposed to maintain the whole ‘demonic doom’ aesthetic. But I figured, why not make it my own? Life—or afterlife—is too short to be surrounded by gloom.”
Y/N shook her head, utterly baffled. She wandered further into the lair, eyeing the eclectic decor. A small bookshelf caught her attention, filled with romance novels, cookbooks, and what appeared to be a collection of glitter pens.
“Are those... scented candles?” Y/N asked, pointing to a shelf lined with jars labeled Vanilla Dream, Ocean Breeze, and Pumpkin Spice.
“Of course,” Minji replied, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. “You can’t have a cozy night in without candles.”
Y/N turned to Minji, hands on her hips. “How are you even a demon? You’re more wholesome than most angels I know.”
Minji sat up, crossing her legs beneath her. “Hey, don’t let the decor fool you. I can be very demonic when I need to be.”
“Oh, really?” Y/N challenged, raising an eyebrow. “Like when you bake cookies or steal archangels’ chocolate?”
Minji gasped, placing a hand over her heart. “That was a moment of weakness! Besides, I apologized for the chocolate thing.”
Y/N couldn’t help the small smile tugging at her lips. “You’re impossible.”
“Impossible in a charming way, right?” Minji teased, winking.
Y/N rolled her eyes but didn’t answer, instead continuing her exploration. She stopped in front of a cluster of framed photos on the wall, each showing Minji in various candid moments—laughing with other demons, posing with a giant plate of food, and even petting a golden retriever.
“Who takes these pictures?” Y/N asked, genuinely curious.
Minji hopped off the couch and joined her. “Oh, my friend Yeji. She’s a fellow demon, but she’s also really into photography. She says I’m her favorite subject because I’m so photogenic.”
Y/N studied the photos, noticing how happy Minji looked in every single one. It was hard to reconcile this carefree, radiant girl with the image of a scheming, malevolent demon.
“Do you ever take your job seriously?” Y/N asked, turning to Minji.
Minji tilted her head, her playful smile softening. “Of course I do. But that doesn’t mean I have to let it define me. Just because I’m a demon doesn’t mean I can’t have fun or be kind. I’ve learned to make the most of what I’ve got.”
Y/N was quiet for a moment, taken aback by the sincerity in Minji’s voice. “I guess I never thought about it like that.”
Minji grinned, nudging Y/N’s shoulder. “See? I’m not so bad once you get to know me.”
Y/N gave her a look. “Don’t push it.”
“Too late,” Minji said, grabbing a blanket from a nearby chair and draping it over Y/N’s shoulders. “Now sit down and try my hot chocolate. I guarantee it’ll change your life.”
Y/N hesitated but eventually let Minji guide her to the couch. Minji disappeared into the kitchen, and moments later, she returned with two steaming mugs of hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and sprinkles.
“Sprinkles?” Y/N asked, raising an eyebrow as Minji handed her a mug.
“They make everything better,” Minji replied, plopping down beside her.
Y/N took a tentative sip, and to her annoyance, it was delicious. Rich, creamy, and perfectly sweet—just like everything else about Minji’s bizarrely endearing existence.
As they sat in comfortable silence, Y/N found herself relaxing in Minji’s presence. Despite her initial doubts, she couldn’t deny that Minji had a way of making her feel at ease—a rare feat for anyone, let alone a demon.
“You know,” Minji said suddenly, breaking the quiet, “I think we make a pretty good team.”
Y/N snorted. “We’ve known each other for less than a day.”
“Details,” Minji said with a wave of her hand. “I can already tell you’re going to be my favorite guardian angel.”
Y/N shook her head, hiding her small smile behind her mug. “You’re unbelievable.”
“And you’re stuck with me,” Minji said cheerfully, raising her mug in a toast. “Here’s to our weird little partnership.”
Y/N clinked her mug against Minji’s, still unsure what she’d gotten herself into—but for the first time, she didn’t mind so much.
--
Y/N paced in front of the long, gleaming table, her pristine white robes shimmering under the room’s ethereal light. Wings twitching slightly, she tried to focus on the lesson at hand. Across from her, Minji slouched in her chair, her legs casually draped over the side as she twirled a celestial quill between her fingers.
“First rule of angelic virtues,” Y/N began, her voice steady despite her growing frustration, “is selflessness. A true guardian must think of others before themselves.”
“Sounds exhausting,” Minji drawled, inspecting the feathered pen like it was the most fascinating thing in the world.
“It’s not exhausting—it’s fulfilling,” Y/N shot back, her tone clipped. “It’s the foundation of everything we do as angels.”
Minji tilted her head, her lips curling into a playful smile. “Let me guess—you were top of your class in angel academy. The kind who turned in assignments early and reminded the teacher about homework, right?”
Y/N crossed her arms. “And proud of it. Those principles are why I’m here to help you.”
Minji let out a low chuckle, her dark eyes sparkling with mischief. “You’re adorable when you’re annoyed, you know that?”
“I am not—” Y/N started, but Minji raised a hand, cutting her off.
“Relax, angel,” she said, leaning forward with a grin that could melt glaciers. “I’m just saying, maybe you could learn a thing or two from me.”
“From you?” Y/N repeated incredulously, her wings flaring slightly. “Learn what? How to make everything into a joke?”
“Close,” Minji said, tapping her chin as if deep in thought. “How to live a little. Let loose. You angels are so uptight with all your rules and halos.”
“I’m not uptight,” Y/N said defensively.
Minji smirked. “Oh, really? Then prove it.”
Before Y/N could ask what she meant, Minji grabbed a stack of perfectly organized training materials from the table and tossed them into the air. The papers fluttered down like snowflakes, scattering across the room.
“Minji!” Y/N’s voice was sharp, her eyes wide with horror. “What are you doing?!”
“Making things more exciting,” Minji said with an innocent shrug. She picked up one of the papers and held it like a victory flag. “Doesn’t this feel more... free?”
“This is chaos!” Y/N exclaimed, crouching to gather the fallen papers. “And it’s my job to fix it.”
Minji crouched beside her, their shoulders brushing as she reached for a paper. “Maybe that’s your problem, angel. Always trying to fix things. Maybe you should just... let go.”
Y/N paused, her fingers hovering over a page. For a brief moment, the warmth of Minji’s proximity made her thoughts stutter. She glanced sideways and caught Minji watching her with a soft, teasing smile.
“Stop distracting me,” Y/N muttered, looking away quickly.
“Admit it,” Minji said, leaning closer. “You’re having fun.”
“I am not—” Y/N began, but her words faltered as she met Minji’s gaze. There was something disarming about the way Minji looked at her, like she wasn’t just teasing anymore.
“You’ve got that little smile,” Minji pointed out, her own grin widening. “Right there.”
Y/N’s cheeks flushed as she turned her attention back to the papers. “You’re impossible.”
“And yet,” Minji said softly, “you’re still here.”
--
Later, after the mess was cleaned up and Y/N had regained her composure, they moved on to the next lesson.
“Gratitude,” Y/N announced, trying to refocus the session. “It’s about recognizing and appreciating the good in your life.”
“I’m great at that,” Minji said, her grin returning.
Y/N gave her a skeptical look. “Really?”
“Of course.” Minji placed a hand over her heart. “For example, I’m incredibly grateful to have a guardian angel who’s so dedicated. And cute.”
Y/N’s wings twitched. “That’s not—”
“And I’m grateful for this lovely lesson, even if it’s a little... rigid.”
Y/N sighed, rubbing her temples. “Gratitude isn’t about flattery, Minji. It’s about genuine appreciation.”
Minji’s smile softened, and for a moment, the teasing faded. “You mean like appreciating how hard you’re trying, even when I’m being... well, me?”
Y/N blinked, caught off guard by the sincerity in Minji’s voice. “I—well, yes. That’s... part of it.”
Minji leaned back in her chair, her gaze lingering on Y/N. “Then I think I’m starting to get it.”
Y/N didn’t know how to respond. The warmth in Minji’s tone left her feeling strangely unsteady, like she was standing on the edge of something she couldn’t quite see.
“Guess you’re not such a bad teacher after all,” Minji added, her grin returning. “But don’t let it go to your halo.”
Y/N rolled her eyes, though the faintest smile tugged at her lips. “You’re unbelievable.”
“And you’re stuck with me,” Minji said, her voice low and teasing.
Despite herself, Y/N felt her heart skip a beat. “Heaven help me.”
--
“Remember, this isn’t a vacation,” Y/N said, glancing over her shoulder at Minji.
Minji twirled in place, arms stretched wide, her dark coat billowing like wings. “It’s not? With scenery like this, it might as well be. You sure we’re not on a date, angel?”
Y/N sighed. “We’re here to help humans, not to fool around.”
Minji stopped spinning and grinned. “I don’t know, Y/N. Humans seem pretty good at fooling around. Maybe I’m just fitting in.”
“Minji,” Y/N warned, her tone heavy with exasperation. “Please focus.”
Minji clapped her hands in mock seriousness. “Yes, ma’am. Focused and ready to spread some good vibes.” She paused, then nudged Y/N. “You know, for someone with wings, you sure are grounded.”
Y/N pinched the bridge of her nose. She needed patience—heavenly patience—to handle this mission.
--
Their first target presented itself in the form of a woman struggling to carry an armful of groceries while chasing after a particularly sprightly toddler.
“That’s perfect,” Y/N said, pointing. “We’ll help her first. It’s straightforward.”
“Straightforward?” Minji echoed, trailing after Y/N. “Helping someone while they’re also managing a tiny human tornado? Sounds like advanced-level heroics to me.”
Y/N ignored her, stepping up to the woman with a polite smile. “Excuse me, ma’am. Would you like some help with those bags?”
The woman turned, her frazzled expression softening. “Oh, thank you. That would be amazing.”
Y/N took two bags with practiced ease. Minji, eager to participate, reached for another but underestimated its weight.
“Whoa—!” Minji yelped as the bag tipped, spilling its contents across the path. Apples rolled into the grass, a loaf of bread landed in a puddle, and a can of soup wobbled precariously near a storm drain.
“Minji!” Y/N hissed, rushing to gather the scattered items.
“Oops,” Minji said, crouching to help. She grabbed an apple and held it up triumphantly. “At least this one didn’t bruise!”
The woman laughed, clearly amused despite the chaos. “You two are so sweet. Thank you for trying.”
As Y/N handed over the recovered groceries, she shot Minji a pointed look. “Maybe let me handle the heavy lifting next time.”
Minji just shrugged, her grin unrepentant. “Hey, at least I made her laugh. That’s helping, right?”
--
Their next stop was an elderly man sitting on a bench, fumbling with his shoelaces.
“I’ll take this one,” Y/N said firmly.
Minji raised her hands in surrender. “Go for it, angel. I’ll stay right here and admire your handiwork.”
Y/N crouched in front of the man, offering him a gentle smile. “Let me help you with that.”
“Why, thank you, young lady,” the man said, his voice warm and kind.
As Y/N tied the laces with efficient care, she glanced up to see Minji digging through her coat pocket.
“Here,” Minji said, holding out a wrapped candy to the man. “A little treat for your walk.”
The man chuckled, taking the candy with a twinkle in his eye. “Well, isn’t that thoughtful? Thank you, miss.”
Y/N stood, brushing her hands off on her coat. She gave Minji a wary look as they walked away.
“Candy?” Y/N asked.
“Hey, it’s the thought that counts,” Minji said, popping another candy into her own mouth. “Besides, he seemed to like it.”
Y/N sighed, but her annoyance was tempered by the warmth spreading in her chest.
--
The final test came when they stumbled upon a group of children gathered around a tree, pointing up at a small, frightened cat perched on a high branch.
“Oh no,” Y/N murmured.
“This is my moment,” Minji declared, already marching toward the tree.
“Minji, wait—”
But Minji didn’t wait. She grabbed the lowest branch and hoisted herself up, her movements surprisingly agile for someone so prone to tripping over her own feet.
“Hey there, kitty,” Minji cooed as she climbed higher. “Don’t worry, I’m here to save you.”
The cat hissed, its ears flattening.
“Be careful!” Y/N called, her wings twitching instinctively under her coat.
Minji waved a hand dismissively. “Relax, I’ve got—”
The branch beneath her foot cracked ominously.
“Minji!” Y/N shouted, her heart leaping into her throat.
“I’m fine!” Minji called back, her voice slightly less confident. She reached for the cat, managing to scoop it into her arms. “See? Easy—”
The cat swiped at her face, yowling loudly. Minji yelped, losing her balance. She slid down the trunk in a flurry of leaves and landed in an ungraceful heap at the base of the tree.
The children gasped. Y/N rushed forward, kneeling beside Minji. “Are you okay?!”
“Ta-da!” Minji said weakly, holding up the now calm cat.
The children cheered, running forward to take the cat from her. “Thank you, lady!”
Y/N stared at Minji, torn between exasperation and something softer, something warmer. “You’re ridiculous,” she muttered, helping Minji to her feet.
“And you love it,” Minji said with a wink, brushing leaves out of her hair.
--
By the time the sun began to set, the park was quiet, and Y/N and Minji found themselves sitting on a bench overlooking a small pond.
“You’re impossible,” Y/N said, though there was no real heat in her voice.
“And yet, here you are,” Minji said, leaning back and stretching her arms over the back of the bench.
Y/N glanced at her, the golden light of the setting sun catching in Minji’s eyes. She looked so out of place, yet somehow perfectly at home.
“Today wasn’t a total disaster,” Y/N admitted.
Minji gasped, clutching her chest dramatically. “Was that... a compliment? From my angelic mentor?”
Y/N rolled her eyes, but a smile tugged at her lips. “Don’t let it go to your head.”
“No promises,” Minji said, her grin softening into something genuine. “Thanks for letting me tag along today. I mean it.”
Y/N’s heart did a little flip at the sincerity in Minji’s voice. She looked away, focusing on the rippling water. “You’re welcome. Just... maybe next time, try not to climb any trees.”
Minji laughed, the sound light and carefree. “Deal.”
For a moment, they sat in comfortable silence, the world around them bathed in warm hues of orange and pink. Y/N felt something shift—something she wasn’t ready to name yet.
But as Minji leaned closer, nudging her shoulder playfully, Y/N couldn’t help but think that maybe, just maybe, this demon wasn’t so bad after all.
--
Minji’s lair, a surprisingly cozy space lit by warm, flickering candles. Plush cushions and quirky trinkets fill the room, making it feel more like an artist’s studio than a demon’s lair. Y/N sits on a velvety armchair, scribbling notes in her celestial journal. Minji lounges nearby, her legs dangling off the side of a sofa, a mischievous glint in her eye.
“Hey, angel,” Minji said lazily, propping her chin on her hand as she rolled onto her side. “What’s got you so focused over there? Writing a love letter to the Big Guy upstairs?”
Y/N didn’t bother looking up from her journal, her pen scratching purposefully against the page. “I’m writing down all the ways you’ve tested my patience today.”
Minji let out a melodramatic gasp, clutching at her chest. “That many, huh? And here I thought I was being charming.”
“You’re something, alright,” Y/N muttered, glancing up to narrow her eyes at the demon.
Minji grinned, her sharp canines peeking out. “C’mon, Y/N. You’re no fun when you’re all work and no play.” She paused, her eyes glinting with a sudden idea. “Speaking of play... you haven’t noticed anything missing, have you?”
Y/N’s brow furrowed. “Missing?”
“Mm-hmm.” Minji sat up, looking far too pleased with herself.
Y/N hesitated, her hand unconsciously reaching up to the space above her head. Her fingers touched empty air.
Her heart sank.
“Minji,” she said slowly, her tone dangerously low. “Where is my halo?”
Minji’s expression teetered between guilt and amusement. “Oh, that? It’s safe! I promise!”
“Safe?” Y/N’s voice pitched upward as she stood abruptly, her journal falling forgotten onto the chair. “Where is it, Minji?!”
The demon tried to wave her off, but Y/N was already scanning the room, her sharp gaze darting from corner to corner. “I swear, if you’ve done anything to—”
“I hid it,” Minji blurted out, holding up her hands. “But only as a joke!”
“A joke?!” Y/N’s wings flared slightly, their usual ethereal shimmer pulsing with irritation. “Do you even understand how sacred a halo is?”
“I... uh...” Minji rubbed the back of her neck, looking sheepish. “No?”
Y/N groaned, pacing the room. “It’s not just some shiny accessory, Minji! It’s—ugh!” She spun to face the demon, her eyes blazing. “Where. Is. It?”
Minji flinched under the intensity of Y/N’s glare but quickly scrambled to her feet. “Relax, angel. It’s right here!”
She darted over to a cabinet, pulling open a drawer and retrieving the halo. It shimmered faintly in her hands, casting a warm golden glow over her sheepish face.
“See?” Minji said, holding it out like a peace offering. “Perfectly fine. No scratches or anything.”
Y/N snatched the halo from her hands, cradling it protectively. The moment it touched her fingers, she felt its reassuring warmth seep into her skin, calming the storm in her chest.
“You’re impossible,” she muttered, her wings drooping slightly as the adrenaline left her.
“Hey, I said I was sorry,” Minji offered, her voice unusually soft.
Y/N glared at her, but there was less heat in her eyes now. “You don’t get it, do you? This halo isn’t just a symbol. It’s part of me. Tampering with it is like...” She paused, searching for the right analogy. “It’s like me messing with your... your horns or something.”
Minji tilted her head. “I don’t have horns.”
“That’s not the point!”
Minji’s shoulders slumped, her usual confidence dimmed. “I really didn’t mean to upset you, Y/N. I just thought it’d be funny. You know, lighten the mood.”
“Well, it wasn’t,” Y/N said sharply, though her tone softened when she saw the genuine remorse in Minji’s eyes.
For a moment, neither of them spoke. The golden light of the halo cast their faces in warm hues, accentuating the raw emotions lingering between them.
Finally, Minji broke the silence. “You’re right,” she said quietly, her gaze fixed on the floor. “I don’t get it. I don’t get a lot of things about you... or this whole guardian angel thing.” She gestured vaguely between them. “But I’m trying. I swear I’m trying.”
Y/N blinked, caught off guard by the vulnerability in Minji’s voice. She watched as the demon ran a hand through her dark hair, her usual mischievous energy replaced by something quieter, more uncertain.
“I’ve spent centuries being good at one thing—causing trouble,” Minji continued, her voice tinged with bitterness. “It’s easy. It’s what I’m supposed to do. But this? Trying to be better? Trying to be someone worthy of a guardian angel?” She shook her head. “It’s terrifying. And I guess... I use jokes to cover that up.”
Y/N felt her heart soften, her earlier anger dissipating like mist in the sunlight. “Minji,” she said gently, stepping closer.
The demon glanced up, her dark eyes filled with an uncertainty Y/N had never seen before.
“You’re not a failure,” Y/N said firmly. “The fact that you care enough to even try says more about you than you realize.”
Minji let out a soft laugh, though it sounded more like a sigh. “You’re way too nice to me, angel.”
“Someone has to be,” Y/N replied, a faint smile tugging at her lips.
They stood there for a moment, the tension in the room shifting into something lighter, warmer.
“You know,” Minji said, her usual playfulness creeping back into her tone, “if you keep looking at me like that, I might start thinking you like me.”
Y/N rolled her eyes but couldn’t suppress the smile that followed. “Don’t push your luck.”
Minji grinned, her confidence returning in full force. “Noted. But I’m still counting this as a win.”
“Of course you are,” Y/N muttered, though her tone was more fond than annoyed.
As Minji flopped back onto the rug with an exaggerated sigh of relief, Y/N couldn’t help but feel a small spark of hope. For all her flaws, Minji was trying—and maybe, just maybe, they were both learning something from each other along the way.
--
Y/N: “Alright, Minji. We’re starting simple. Hand this bread to that old woman. It’s an act of kindness. Easy, right?”
Minji: grinning “Piece of cake!”
Minji confidently strides toward the woman but trips on her own shoelaces. The bread flies out of her hand, soars through the air, and lands directly on a pigeon, sending feathers flying.
Old Woman: shocked “Good heavens!”
Minji: holding up her hands “I-I can explain! It’s… artisanal pigeon bread?”
Y/N: facepalms “We’re off to a great start.”
Minji turns back with a sheepish smile, while the old woman cautiously retrieves the bread and pats the dazed pigeon.
--
The celestial garden was tranquil, a lush expanse of flowers in shades of soft pink, lavender, and white. The air felt like it was laced with magic, as though the very atmosphere itself was imbued with a sense of peace. There were flowers that bloomed with each step, a testament to the care the celestial beings had for this space. Birds with iridescent feathers flitted through the trees, singing melodies that resonated with the purest notes of heaven.
But despite the serene beauty of it all, Minji was nowhere near as calm as the surroundings. Her shoulders were tense, and she had been pacing for the past several minutes, her footsteps light on the soft grass but full of restlessness.
Y/N watched her from a distance, her hands clasped behind her back, her gaze soft but observing. Minji’s usual playful demeanor was absent, replaced with a kind of anxiety that Y/N wasn’t used to seeing.
“Minji,” Y/N called out, her voice carrying through the quiet garden. “Are you alright?”
Minji froze mid-step, glancing over her shoulder to meet Y/N’s eyes. The playful, mischievous spark that usually danced in her gaze was dimmer, replaced by something Y/N couldn’t quite place. She straightened up, forcing a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes.
“Yeah, of course,” Minji replied, though her voice sounded strained. “Just thinking.”
Y/N frowned, stepping closer. “You’ve been thinking for a while now. What’s going on?”
Minji turned away slightly, looking down at her shoes, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. There was a discomfort in her posture that made Y/N’s heart twinge.
“I… I’ve been thinking about this whole ‘trying to be good’ thing,” Minji admitted, her voice quiet. “I know I’m supposed to be working toward becoming a better demon so I can go to Heaven, but it feels like… like I’m just not good enough. You know?”
Y/N’s heart ached at the sincerity in Minji’s voice. For all the jokes and playful teasing, Minji was still a demon, and demons were supposed to be bad. But Minji wasn’t like that. She was far from it.
“Minji,” Y/N said softly, walking up to her and gently placing a hand on her shoulder. “You don’t have to be perfect. You’re already more than enough just as you are.”
Minji blinked at her, the vulnerability in her eyes surprising Y/N. The words seemed to hit her harder than expected, and for a moment, she seemed unsure of how to respond.
“I know I’m not perfect,” Minji said quietly, her voice breaking just slightly. “But sometimes… I just wish I could be more than what I am. More than just a demon.”
Y/N’s chest tightened at the admission. She had known Minji was struggling, but hearing her admit it out loud made it all feel so much more real. The weight of the situation was sinking in, and Y/N wasn’t sure how to ease it.
“You’re already more than a demon, Minji,” Y/N said, her tone gentle but firm. “You’re kind, you’re sweet, and you have so much to offer. You just… you just don’t see it.”
Minji let out a breath, glancing away as she bit her lip. “It’s hard to believe that when all I’ve ever been told is that demons are supposed to be bad. It’s hard to believe that when I can’t even seem to get anything right.”
Y/N frowned, her hand still on Minji’s shoulder. She gently squeezed it, trying to offer comfort. “That’s because you’ve been listening to the wrong people.”
Minji looked up at Y/N, confusion written on her face. “The wrong people?”
Y/N nodded, smiling softly. “You’ve been listening to the voices that tell you you’re not good enough. But the truth is, you’ve always been good enough. You just have to believe it yourself.”
Minji stared at her, blinking slowly as the words sunk in. Her lips parted as if to speak, but no words came out. For a long moment, they just stood there, the weight of their conversation settling over them like a warm, invisible blanket.
Y/N didn’t know what else to say, but she didn’t need to. The silence between them was comforting, as if they both understood without having to explain it all.
Finally, Minji broke the silence, her voice small but sincere. “I’m really trying, Y/N. I want to be better. I want to be… I don’t know… worthy of something.”
Y/N’s heart skipped a beat. She could feel the sincerity in Minji’s words, the vulnerability that Minji rarely showed. It wasn’t easy for her to admit these things, and Y/N felt honored that she had.
“You are worthy, Minji,” Y/N said, her voice soft but steady. “You don’t have to prove anything to anyone. You just need to be you.”
Minji’s eyes softened as she looked at Y/N, her lips curving into a small, genuine smile. “You really think so?”
“I know so,” Y/N replied without hesitation.
Minji’s expression shifted, something warm and tender flickering in her eyes. “You’re the first person who’s ever told me that. Maybe I can believe you, just this once.”
Y/N felt a lump form in her throat at the sincerity in Minji’s voice. She hadn’t realized how much Minji needed someone to see her for who she truly was, not just as a demon or a failure, but as a person.
For a long moment, they simply stared at each other, the air thick with something unspoken. The warmth in Minji’s gaze made Y/N’s chest tighten, and for a fleeting second, she wondered if maybe, just maybe, she was starting to feel something more for this clumsy, sweet demon who had wormed her way so deep into her heart.
Minji’s lips parted as if she were about to say something, but then she hesitated, glancing away nervously. “I, uh… I just… I’m really glad I met you, Y/N.”
Y/N’s breath caught in her throat, her heart thudding in her chest. “I’m glad I met you too.”
There was a moment of silence, and then Minji’s lips quirked into a playful grin. “So, does this mean you’ll finally admit I’m the best demon you’ve ever had?”
Y/N couldn’t help but chuckle at her persistence, the tension between them momentarily lifting. “You’re getting there, Minji. But I’ll need a bit more convincing.”
Minji’s grin grew wider, and Y/N could see that playful spark returning to her eyes. “I can work with that.”
Y/N laughed softly, but the warmth in her heart remained, a quiet reminder that she was beginning to care for this sweet, imperfect demon in ways she hadn’t expected.
And for the first time, she felt a little less like an angel tasked with saving someone and a little more like someone who might just be falling for a demon who was trying to find her way.
--
Y/N: “Alright, Minji, this is simple. We’re just going to help that little kid with his lemonade stand.”
Minji: grinning “Got it. I’m a professional.”
Minji, in her excitement, lunges forward—only to knock over the entire lemonade stand, sending cups and lemons flying everywhere. The kid stares at her, wide-eyed, as Minji awkwardly picks up a cup, trying to salvage the situation.
Minji: blushing “Um, it’s... uh... It's the thought that counts, right?”
Y/N: facepalming “I can’t even. Just, let’s go before we cause a lemonade disaster of biblical proportions.”
--
The human realm’s sky was a canvas of brilliant oranges and pinks, the sun dipping lower with every passing second, casting a warm glow across the meadow. Y/N found herself still standing beside Minji, her gaze lingering on the horizon, lost in the beauty of the scene. It wasn’t often she had the luxury of these quiet moments, especially not with a demon.
Minji, however, seemed more fascinated by the reflections in the sky than the tranquil scene itself. She stood with her arms crossed, her usual playful grin on her face, as though the sunset was just another background for the ongoing banter.
“So,” Minji finally spoke, breaking the silence with a lilt in her voice. “You like sunsets, huh?”
Y/N looked at her, raising an eyebrow. “That’s what you got out of all of this? Not the philosophical contemplation of life or the beauty of nature?”
Minji shrugged, her smile widening. “I’m a simple demon. I see a pretty view, and I think—‘Hey, nice view.’”
Y/N chuckled softly, shaking her head. “That’s one way to put it.” She turned her attention back to the sunset. “I guess I do like sunsets. They remind me that even after the toughest days, the world still turns, and there’s always something beautiful to look forward to.”
Minji turned to her, eyes glinting with mischief. “A little poetic, huh? I didn’t know I was assigned to an angel with such a soft side.”
Y/N felt her cheeks warm slightly, and she shot Minji a glance. “What about you, Minji? What do you think about sunsets?”
Minji leaned back slightly, contemplating the question with a furrowed brow. “Honestly? I think it’s the best time to sneak into a party.”
Y/N blinked, confused. “A party?”
Minji gave a teasing smile. “Duh. The sun’s setting, it’s cooler, and you can sneak in unnoticed. That’s like, demon 101.”
Y/N couldn’t help but laugh at her absurd logic. “I don’t think that’s what sunsets are about, but okay.”
Minji smiled slyly. “Well, I’m all about the chaos, you know? I think life’s more fun when it’s unpredictable. You should try it.”
Y/N shook her head, her eyes narrowing in playful suspicion. “I don’t know if I want to try your version of chaos.”
“Oh, come on. Just a little fun never hurt anyone.” Minji’s voice softened as she looked out at the sky again. “Maybe you could loosen up a bit. Life doesn’t always have to be so serious.”
Y/N crossed her arms. “I’m not that serious.”
Minji raised an eyebrow, the corner of her lips curling upward. “No? I don’t know, you’ve got this whole angel thing going on. It’s kinda hard to imagine you cutting loose.”
Y/N opened her mouth to argue, but before she could, Minji continued with an unexpected sincerity. “But I guess I do get why you like sunsets.”
Y/N paused, looking at Minji. “You do?”
Minji nodded, her eyes flickering over to meet Y/N’s. “Yeah. I think they remind me of... new beginnings, or something. The day ends, and even though it’s kind of sad, you know there’s always tomorrow. It’s like, a reset button.”
Y/N was surprised by how deeply Minji spoke, her usual playful demeanor giving way to something more thoughtful. “That’s... a nice way to think about it.”
Minji shrugged, a small smile playing at her lips. “I’m full of surprises.”
Before Y/N could respond, Minji’s voice lightened again, shifting the mood. “But I’ve gotta admit—if I was assigned an angel like you, I’d be pretty intimidated.”
Y/N tilted her head, curious. “Why?”
Minji grinned. “Well, you’re all virtuous and perfect, and I’m, you know, a mess.” She gestured vaguely to herself, as though the idea of her being a demon was self-evident.
Y/N laughed, unable to suppress it. “You’re not a mess, Minji.”
Minji smiled at her warmly. “You know, you’re probably one of the nicest angels I’ve met. But I think... I think I want to do more than just be nice. I want to be something more, Y/N.”
Y/N blinked, sensing the deeper undercurrent of what Minji was saying. “What do you mean by that?”
Minji hesitated, her voice quieter now. “I guess I want to show you that I can be good. That I’m more than just a demon, that I’m worthy of—” She cut herself off, not finishing the thought.
Y/N felt a tug in her chest at the vulnerability in Minji’s words. She stepped closer, her voice soft but steady. “You don’t have to prove anything to me, Minji. I’m here to help you, no matter what.”
Minji’s eyes met hers, and for a moment, it felt like the world around them stilled. “I know, but... I want to be better for you. And for myself.”
Y/N’s heart raced at the sincerity in Minji’s eyes. She didn’t expect this conversation to take this turn, but there it was—Minji, the demon who had been nothing but playful and mischievous, showing a side of herself that was raw and real.
They stood in silence for a moment, the weight of the words hanging in the air.
Finally, Minji broke the silence with a mischievous smile. “Well, enough of all that deep stuff. I’ve got something to show you.”
Y/N raised an eyebrow. “What now?”
Minji pointed toward a nearby bench where an elderly woman had just dropped her purse. “Watch this.”
With a dramatic flourish, Minji strutted toward the bench with purpose, ready to help. But as she reached for the purse, her foot caught on the edge of the bench, and she toppled forward, knocking the purse even further away.
Y/N couldn’t help but watch, wide-eyed, as Minji scrambled to pick up the purse, all the while giving Y/N a sheepish smile.
“I swear, I’m getting better at this,” Minji said, grinning from ear to ear.
Y/N crossed her arms, smirking. “If this is your idea of helping, I think we need a new plan.”
Minji stuck out her tongue, playfully unbothered by the failed attempt. “Hey, at least I tried.”
Y/N rolled her eyes, but deep down, she couldn’t deny how endearing Minji’s clumsiness was. There was something about her sincerity, even in the face of failure, that made Y/N’s heart soften.
“Maybe next time, I’ll let you handle the helping part,” Y/N teased, her voice laced with affection.
Minji looked at her with a mischievous grin. “Oh, I’m pretty sure we both know who’s actually in charge here.”
Y/N raised an eyebrow. “You think so?”
Minji winked, stepping closer. “Yeah. But hey, let’s see who can be better at helping next time.”
Y/N shook her head, unable to hide her smile. “You’re impossible.”
Minji’s gaze softened, and she took a small step closer. “But you like it.”
And for the first time, Y/N couldn’t find it in herself to deny it.
--
Y/N: looking exasperated “Okay, Minji. The goal here is simple: just get the coffee order right. We’re helping someone, remember?”
Minji: enthusiastically “Got it. I’m a professional!”
Minji confidently strides over to the counter, only to slip on a spilled coffee bean, sending an entire tray of drinks flying. She spins around, eyes wide in disbelief.
Minji: “Well... uh, I still got the coffee to them, right?”
Y/N: facepalming “Minji, what is happening?!”
Minji: grinning sheepishly “Hey, I’m learning, okay?”
Y/N: laughing despite herself “I think we need a new approach. Fast.”
--
The celestial courtroom shimmered with ethereal light, the walls made of translucent crystal that refracted rainbows across the grand space. Y/N stood beside Minji, her usually composed demeanor fraying at the edges. She clasped her hands tightly, resisting the urge to reach out and give Minji’s arm a reassuring squeeze. After all, this was Minji’s moment to prove herself—not hers.
Minji, on the other hand, looked... well, like Minji. She shifted on her feet, her trademark grin masking the nervous energy practically radiating off her. Her fingers toyed with the hem of her jacket as if she were trying to channel her jitters into motion.
“Kim Minji,” Seraphiel called out, his voice resonating like a choir of bells. The head angel’s towering presence dominated the room, his six majestic wings folded neatly behind him. “You stand before us today to demonstrate what you have learned. Your task is not to impress us but to act with true kindness and compassion. Do you understand the gravity of this moment?”
Minji swallowed audibly, nodding. “Yes, I understand.”
“Good,” Seraphiel said, gesturing with one glowing hand. “Your trial begins now.”
The crystalline floor rippled like water, and the courtroom dissolved into a new scene: a quiet park in the human realm. Birds chirped in the trees, and the scent of blooming flowers hung in the air. On a bench sat an older woman, her posture heavy with sorrow. She clutched a small bouquet of daisies in her hands, her knuckles white against the stems.
Minji glanced at Y/N, her playful bravado slipping as genuine uncertainty crept into her expression. “What do I do?” she whispered.
Y/N tilted her head toward the woman, her tone soft but firm. “You listen. You help her, Minji. And this time, don’t think about how you look or what you’re supposed to say. Just... be there for her.”
Minji nodded, taking a deep breath before approaching the woman. She hesitated for a moment, then lowered herself onto the bench, leaving a respectful amount of space between them.
“Hi,” Minji said, her voice unusually gentle. “Are you okay?”
The woman looked up, startled by the interruption. Her eyes were red-rimmed, her face lined with grief. “Oh,” she murmured, blinking at Minji. “I’m fine, dear. Just... remembering someone.”
Minji’s brow furrowed. She glanced down at the daisies, then back at the woman. “Someone important?”
The woman nodded, her lips trembling. “My son. He... he passed away a few years ago. Today’s his birthday, and I always bring him flowers.”
Minji felt a lump rise in her throat. She looked down at her hands, unsure of what to say. She had faced countless situations in her demonic existence—trickery, chaos, even outright danger—but nothing had prepared her for this.
“I’m sorry,” she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper.
The woman’s gaze softened, though her sadness remained. “It’s kind of you to say that, but it’s okay. It’s been a while. I just... miss him, you know?”
Minji nodded slowly, her usual wit and humor nowhere to be found. “Yeah. I get it.” She hesitated, then added, “I don’t know what it’s like to lose someone, but I know what it’s like to feel like you’re not enough. Like you’re just... stuck with all these feelings, and you don’t know what to do with them.”
The woman’s eyes widened slightly, her expression shifting from sorrow to understanding. “That’s... that’s exactly it,” she said softly.
Minji bit her lip, her usual confidence completely replaced by vulnerability. She reached out, her hand hovering awkwardly before resting lightly on the woman’s arm. “I know I can’t make it better,” she said, her voice trembling. “But maybe you don’t have to carry it all by yourself. Even if it’s just for a little while, maybe someone else can help.”
The woman’s eyes filled with tears, but this time, they weren’t just tears of grief. She nodded, a faint smile breaking through her sadness. “Thank you, dear. That means more than you know.”
From her vantage point, Y/N felt a surge of pride so intense it made her chest ache. Minji wasn’t just fumbling her way through this trial—she was truly connecting with someone, showing a depth of compassion that even Y/N hadn’t fully expected.
As the scene began to dissolve, returning them to the celestial courtroom, Minji turned to the woman one last time. “Happy birthday to your son,” she said softly.
The woman’s smile widened, and then she was gone, the trial complete.
--
Back in the courtroom, Seraphiel rose from his seat, his expression unreadable. “Minji,” he said, his voice resonating through the space. “You have shown not only kindness but also vulnerability—a willingness to meet someone where they are, even when it is uncomfortable. You have passed this trial.”
Minji blinked, her mouth falling open slightly. “Wait... I did? I passed?”
Y/N laughed softly, stepping forward to stand beside her. “Yes, you passed, you ridiculous demon.”
A grin broke across Minji’s face, the tension in her shoulders melting away. “I knew I could do it,” she said, though the lingering disbelief in her tone betrayed her.
Seraphiel nodded once, his stern expression softening just enough to be noticeable. “You have a long way to go, but this is a promising start. Continue on this path, and you may surprise even yourself.”
As the courtroom dissolved, leaving Minji and Y/N alone in a quiet celestial hallway, Minji turned to her angelic companion, her grin now tinged with something softer.
“You were watching me the whole time,” she said, her tone teasing but her eyes warm.
“Of course I was,” Y/N replied, rolling her eyes. “I’m your guardian angel. It’s literally my job.”
Minji stepped closer, her voice dropping to a playful whisper. “Maybe. Or maybe you just couldn’t look away because you think I’m amazing.”
Y/N’s cheeks flushed, but she refused to give Minji the satisfaction of a flustered reaction. “Don’t push your luck,” she muttered, though her small smile betrayed her.
Minji chuckled, the sound light and carefree. “You like me, admit it.”
Y/N sighed, her smile widening despite herself. “Maybe a little,” she admitted.
Minji’s grin grew, and for a moment, the space between them felt charged with something unspoken. But then Minji pulled back, her expression shifting to something more genuine.
“Thanks, Y/N,” she said softly. “For believing in me.”
Y/N’s heart swelled. “Always, Minji.”
--
Y/N: handing Minji a bag of dog treats “Okay, this one is easy. Just feed the puppies and make them happy. No tricks, no chaos.”
Minji: grinning “Puppies? Piece of cake!”
Minji kneels down and starts handing out treats, but one overly enthusiastic dog jumps on her, sending the bag flying into a nearby fountain. Chaos ensues as dozens of dogs dive into the water, barking and splashing everywhere.
Y/N: facepalming “Minji! How do you even manage this?”
Minji: shrugging sheepishly, now drenched and surrounded by soggy dogs “At least they’re having fun?”
--
The celestial bridge sparkled with an ethereal glow, its silvery surface shimmering as Minji took her first steps onto it. Above her head hovered the faint outline of a glowing halo—a symbol of her achievement and transformation. Around her, angels and celestial beings clapped politely, their approving murmurs echoing through the boundless expanse of stars.
Y/N stood off to the side, her wings glowing faintly with pride and relief. She had watched Minji grow from a bumbling, mischievous demon into someone who had not only embraced kindness but had become an embodiment of it. The sight of Minji, radiant with her new halo, made Y/N’s chest swell with a warmth she couldn’t deny any longer.
As the ceremony concluded, Minji walked over to Y/N, her familiar playful grin firmly in place despite the solemnity of the event. “So,” Minji said, tilting her head up to indicate the halo, “how do I look? Angelic enough for you?”
Y/N snorted softly, shaking her head. “You’re still you, Minji. Halo or not.”
Minji’s grin widened. “I’ll take that as a compliment.”
“Come on,” Y/N said, motioning toward a shimmering portal that led to the Garden of Eden. “There’s something I want to show you.”
Minji followed without hesitation, her wings fluttering slightly with each step. As they passed through the portal, the lush expanse of the Garden came into view. Vibrant flowers bloomed in every imaginable color, their petals shimmering like jewels. A soft, golden light bathed the landscape, and the gentle hum of celestial energy filled the air.
Minji’s eyes widened in wonder. “Wow. It’s beautiful.”
Y/N led her to a quiet corner of the Garden, where a small stream trickled through a bed of glowing moss. They sat down together on a stone bench, the silence between them comfortable but charged with unspoken emotions.
“Minji,” Y/N began, her voice unusually soft. She stared down at her hands, unsure how to begin.
Minji tilted her head, her playful smile fading as she noticed Y/N’s serious expression. “Hey,” she said gently. “What’s on your mind?”
Y/N hesitated, then looked up to meet Minji’s gaze. “You’ve come so far. Watching you grow, seeing the way you’ve embraced kindness—it’s been incredible. But that’s not all.” She took a deep breath, her wings shifting slightly as if to steady herself. “Somewhere along the way, I realized that I... care about you. A lot more than I’m supposed to.”
Minji’s eyes widened slightly, her mouth parting in surprise. “Y/N...”
“I know it’s not exactly in the rulebook,” Y/N continued, a faint blush coloring her cheeks. “But I can’t pretend anymore. You mean so much to me, Minji. More than I ever thought possible.”
For a moment, Minji was silent, her expression unreadable. Then, slowly, a smile spread across her face—a smile so warm and genuine that it made Y/N’s heart ache.
“Y/N,” Minji said softly, her voice almost reverent. “I’ve wanted to hear those words since the day we met.”
Y/N blinked, her blush deepening. “Wait, really?”
Minji laughed, the sound bright and melodic. “Of course. Do you know how hard it was not to flirt with you every second of the day? Well, harder than I already did, anyway.”
Y/N let out a breathless laugh, shaking her head. “You’re unbelievable.”
Minji’s smile softened, and she reached out to take Y/N’s hands in her own. “I’ve felt the same way for a long time. You’ve seen the best and worst of me, and you’ve never given up on me. How could I not fall for you?”
Y/N’s heart raced as Minji leaned in closer, her wings unfurling slightly behind her. Their faces were just inches apart, the golden light of the Garden casting a soft glow over their features.
“May I?” Minji asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Y/N nodded, her breath hitching.
Minji closed the distance between them, her lips brushing against Y/N’s in a kiss that was tender and electrifying all at once. Y/N melted into the moment, her wings unfurling fully as a sense of completeness washed over her.
When they finally pulled apart, Minji rested her forehead against Y/N’s, her smile radiant. “So... does this mean I’m officially your favorite assignment?”
Y/N laughed, her eyes sparkling with affection. “Don’t push it.”
--
Minji: holding Y/N’s hands dramatically “Y/N, will you do me the honor of being my one and only angel?”
Y/N: deadpan “Minji, we’ve literally been dating for two minutes.”
Minji: grinning “And they’ve been the best two minutes of my life.”
Y/N: groaning “You’re insufferable.”
Minji: winking “But you love me.”
Y/N: sighing but smiling “Yeah, I do.”

ೃ࿔࿐ CHAPTER I — GAME START
Tumblr media
the cameras were focused on her, the studio lights making her sweat a little. she hoped they weren't able to see the beads of sweat through the cameras. yn always got a little nervous when she was in front of a camera, it was ironic that her whole career was built on cameras and other people.
"okay yn you ready?"
she cleared her throat as silently as she could, "yes."
"great. three... two... start!"
yn had to do something for her intro before talking. she decided on a simple wave, as her fans talked about how cute she looks while waving. she decided to play it safe.
"state your age and name please."
"lee yn. nineteen."
"nice to meet you yn. first we will explain the details and the rules of the game to you. is there anything you'd like to ask?"
she shook her head.
"great. so this game..."
they had explained everything thoroughly before she even signed the contract to agree to play the game so she knew what they were talking about. deciding to tune the mc out, yn nodded here and there letting the man know that she was listening. i mean she wasn't but... whatever.
"so yn, what do you think about the game overall?"
she'd tried to come up with something cheeky to say but she couldn't find anything. but she hoped it wouldn't matter how much fanservice she did right now because the game was full of fanservice anyway.
"i think it's great! i've never seen something like this before so i'm exited. i'm also very happy to meet new people!"
well she didn't lie that much this time, she really was excited. she was also nervous but no one had to know about that part. i mean if she even said it no one would care, and her fans would probably try to look into it and come up with crazy theories. god, she really didn't want to deal with that.
when the shooting was over they let her sit around for a little bit before getting her into the car that would take her to the house she would be staying at. she liked car rides, minus the part where she would get carsick. she usually preferred sleeping through the rides but she had to talk to a camera this time. it was okay i guess, she just felt weird talking to a camera all by herself.
"hey guys," yn smiled, a little shy, "did you miss my pretty face? i'm kidding, or am i?"
she continued to talk for five minutes before stopping the video and closing her eyes, hoping to get some sleep before a tiring day.
after a while, yn opened her eyes. coincidentally they had just parked the car and opened her door for her to get out. after stepping out of the car she looked at the building in front of her in awe. she hadn't expected it to be this big but it made sense, since there would be seven other people staying in there.
after going inside and looking at the rooms yn was told to sit down at the table that they temporarily put inside of the living room. after she sat down, they quickly started recording.
"okay so, you're going to choose someone after reading these papers and that'll be your partner from now on, so choose wisely."
"oh this is interesting..."
she started to read slowly, sometimes raising an eyebrow or two, sometimes smiling. she'd read all four papers when she picked the third one.
"this," she showed her paper to the camera "is my partner."
"okay," said the main mc "can you tell us what made you choose that person?"
"um... the fact that she can speak three languages is pretty cool. and it says here that she likes eating ice cream in winter and wearing mostly black clothes. we have those in common."
"okay great. thank you yn."
she smiled and nodded, slowly getting up from her seat and going over to one of the rooms. she laid on one side of the bed and slowly drifted to sleep. an hour later a staff member woke her up, telling her that she had to get a few photos taken. yn nodded and followed the staff out of the room.
after the shooting, she realized she had to eat or else she would be too hungry to sleep after. she opted for ramen, a quick and easy dish, also quite tasty for a packaged food.
as she was eating she began to wonder who her partner would be and what games they would play. she hoped it wasn't someone mean, she really didn't have the energy to deal with a mean person especially for a long time.
she sighed and decided to stop thinking. she didn't want to ruin the surprise by trying to guess who she'd be staying with anyway.

୨ৎ kim minji
minji is the biggest, softest simp for you.
she tries to be all cool and composed, but the second you so much as look at her with those eyes, she’s a goner.
her love language is all about acts of service, making sure you’re always taken care of in the most subtle, loving ways.
she’s the type to remember the little things—whether it’s bringing you your favorite snack after a long day, or making sure your water bottle is always full.
when you wake up feeling groggy or having a bad morning, minji is already in the kitchen, cooking you breakfast without saying a word.
she’ll bring it to you on a tray, and you’ll tease her about being such a “good girlfriend.”
she’ll roll her eyes and mutter something about it “not being a big deal,” but you can see her blushing—especially when you thank her with a kiss.
minji’s also a sucker for words of affirmation.
she’ll never admit it out loud, but she lives for your compliments. one time, you called her “the prettiest girl in the world,” and she literally choked on her drink.
“wh-what? stop saying stuff like that..” she stammers, her cheeks flushed pink.
but you know deep down she’s melting.
and when it comes to you, minji’s a total loser for giving you little words of encouragement. if you’re feeling down, she’ll drop everything to reassure you.
“you’re amazing, okay? you’re stronger than you think..” she’ll whisper while holding your hand, her voice soft and filled with so much sincerity it makes your heart ache.
she may seem tough, but minji’s the biggest softie—always making sure you know how much she adores you, even if she’s too shy to say it sometimes.
୨ৎ pham hanni
hanni tries to act all nonchalant about it, but she’s the biggest spoiler when it comes to you.
she’s the queen of gift-giving, but she’ll never admit she’s doing it on purpose. “i just saw this and thought of you,” she’ll say as she hands you a random little gift—like a cute keychain or your favorite candy.
you’ll catch her blushing when you thank her, though she’ll quickly brush it off, saying, “it’s not a big deal..”
but secretly, she’s got this whole collection of things she plans to give you at just the right moment.
hanni’s always thinking of how to make you smile, whether it’s surprising you with concert tickets or sneaking into your bag with a handwritten note that says, “have a great day, babe.”
she’ll act like she’s all casual about it, but deep down, she loves seeing you happy with her gifts.
then there’s her love for physical touch.
hanni is low-key obsessed with being close to you, even if she tries to play it cool. whether it’s sitting next to you with your legs tangled together, or casually resting her hand on your thigh during a movie, she always finds ways to be near you.
and when you’re feeling down, she’ll pull you in a hug, wrapping her arms around you tight.
“c’mon.. let’s cuddle,” she’d say, pretending like it’s for your sake, but the truth is, hanni can’t get enough of you.
she’ll kiss your forehead and play with your hair, holding you as if you’re the most precious thing in the world—because to her, you are.
୨ৎ danielle marsh
danielle is all about you—her love language is definitely quality time
she could spend hours just being with you, doing absolutely nothing, and be the happiest person in the world. whether you’re out on a cute date or just chilling at home, danielle always makes you feel like you’re the center of her universe.
she’s the type to sit with you, painting your nails or reading next to you, as long as you’re together.
sometimes she’ll suggest spontaneous little adventures, like going on late-night walks or baking cookies at 3 am just because you mentioned craving sweets
it’s not about what you’re doing, it’s about being with you, sharing every moment like it’s special.
danielle is also incredibly sweet with words of affirmation. she’s constantly showering you with compliments, not in a cheesy way, but in that genuine, heartfelt danielle way that makes you feel so loved.
“you know, you’re the most amazing person i’ve ever met,” she’d say, her voice soft and sincere.
she’ll write you little love notes and hide them in places for you to find—your bag, your jacket pocket, your notebook.
they’re simple but filled with affection: “you’re my favorite person.”
danielle always knows the right thing to say, and her words make you feel warm inside, like she’s wrapped you in a blanket of love.
୨ৎ kang haerin
haerin’s love language is a quiet, steady kind of acts of service.
she’s not the type to shower you with grand gestures or make big speeches, but her love shows in the little things she does for you every day.
if you’re feeling tired, she’ll gently guide you to the couch and make sure you have a blanket. when you’re stressed, she’ll silently bring you a hot drink, giving you a soft smile before sitting next to you.
she doesn’t say much, but her actions speak volumes.
haerin’s love is like a warm, constant presence in your life—always there, always making sure you’re okay without even needing to ask.
she knows your routines better than you do, so if you’re too busy or overwhelmed, she’ll step in without a word and do the things you’ve forgotten.
and then there’s her quiet love for physical touch. haerin’s not one for big displays of affection, but when it’s just the two of you, she can’t help but be close.
she’ll reach out to hold your hand during car rides or subtly rest her head on your shoulder while watching TV.
it’s these small, intimate moments that show just how much she adores you.
when you’re upset or having a bad day, haerin’s instinct is to hold you close, her arms tight around you like she’s protecting you from the world. She doesn’t have to say anything—just the way she touches you tells you everything you need to know.
haerin loves you deeply, even if she shows it in the most subtle ways.
୨ৎ lee hyein
hyein’s love language? spoiling you obviously.
this girl loves to spoil you, and she’s not even trying to hide it. every time she sees something cute or funny that reminds her of you, she buys it.
“here.. i got you something,” she’d say casually, but the second you open it, you realize it’s the exact thing you mentioned wanting weeks ago.
hyein never forgets the little things.
she loves seeing your face light up when she hands you a surprise gift, even if it’s something silly. and she does this without any expectations—she’s not waiting for praise or thanks, she just loves spoiling you because you’re her person.
but if you thank her with a kiss or hug, she’ll turn into a flustered mess, trying to act like it’s no big deal, but she’s secretly loving every second of it.
hyein’s also a huge fan of words of affirmation, even if she pretends not to care.
she’ll leave you random, funny messages like, “you’re lucky you’re cute.. or i wouldn’t put up with you,” but then there’ll be these soft, heartfelt moments where she tells you how much you mean to her.
“i’m really glad you’re in my life..” she’d say, trying to act all cool, but you can see how genuine she is.
whenever you’re feeling insecure or down, hyein is there with the hype-up of a lifetime. “you’re literally amazing, okay? don’t let anyone make you think otherwise,” she’ll say, and you can’t help but smile because even though she’s playful, hyein is always your number one supporter, reminding you how much you’re loved.

"no, listen to me, it's M I N," sakura is so over this, honestly. but you promised to buy her a new controller for her switch if she helped you, so she goes through with it.
"m...i...n..." sakura types slowly as she scrolls with a glass of water in one hand.
"ji," you continue quickly.
"what was that?" she asks and looks up at you.
"j...i. j for james and i for like iphone, i dont know." sakura nods and returns back to typing.
"okay okay, minji.....minji...kim minji....i found her!" sakura flips her phone to show you the girl's instagram page.
you squint at sakura's shaky hands.
"stop, stop. I can't see with your hands shaking all over." sakura frowns at you and tries pulling her phone away. but you're quick to grab it out of your hands. feeling like you've hit the jackpot.
"yes! it's her!"
sakura rolls her eyes and grabs more chips from the coffee table, popping them into her mouth as you happily scroll through your coworker's public instagram page.
"you know you could just talk to her right? like at work...where you both work together in that cramped barista station."
"kkura, you really aren't helping." you mumble as you hit one of the posts of minji at the beach; she's smiling and showing off her cute brown dog. you had overheard minji talking with another worker about her family's brown mini poodle. "that must be choco."
"what i also don't understand is why you're looking her up, on MY phone. when you have a perfectly working phone." sakura continues to eat through the family size bag of lays.
you scoff and pull the blanket off of sakura's legs. "what if one day she asks me to exchange socials and she sees that i've searched her up already? i can't let that happen."
you roll your eyes like it's the most obvious reason.
"wow, i thought i was a loser, but this really takes the cake." she shakes at the bag for more lays and returns her attention to the show thats been playing in the background.
you pay sakura no mind as you now have found yourself happily going through her page. examining each post closely and even going through her tagged photos for more information.
"okay, stop, this is just creepy. you're like a cyber-stalker." sakura yanks her phone out of your hand and pushes your chest away to knock you off your balance. you topple over like a bowling pin. "don't forget you have to buy me new controllers for this!"
sakura leaves with her phone in hand, probably off to phone her friends, leaving you all alone in the apartment with whatever show's been playing.
"what a cockblock." you mutter out as you finish up the lays bag and crumple it, getting ready to go to bed. you let out a long yawn that turns into a groan until the air has left your lungs. now you're coughing like a mad man trying to drink water, you finally cool down.
--
"welcome to milk mocha!" minji shouts from behind the counters, you successfully arrive just shy of 15 minutes late for your shift.
"oh, you're here." minji comments when she looks up from behind the espresso machine and glances at you. you grimace at the dismissive tone, but all minji can see is your hair all over the place and shirt worn inside out and backwards.
needless to say, you pressed snooze a few times too many, and now you're paying the consequences.
"i am so so so sorry minji, i slept past my alarm." you beg for forgiveness and start spewing about how you tripped over your charging cable, accidentally burned your tongue during breakfast, wore wet socks. and minji's heard enough already.
"okay, lets just...get you set up. you're lucky it's slow right now." she ushered you into the staff room and your heart warms at how considerate she is. even feeling a little lovesick that she hasn't written you up for tardiness.
"you're the best minji!" you shout over your shoulder as you change into the work shirt and tie an apron around your waist. horrified to find the tag of your t-shirt facing the world.
you try brushing your hair as best as you can, then tucking into your work cap. you walk out onto the floor and see a few customers around. no one seems to be ordering and you thank the coffee gods for this opportunity.
"soooo minji...." you start, as you wipe down the counters.
"yes?" she's busy cleaning the machines in the meantime and checking that there's enough supplies in the mini fridge.
you turn to her and smile widely, "are you single?"
she stops what she's doing and turns to you. "yes, why do you ask?" in the most monotone voice you've ever heard.
you wonder if minji was a robot in her past life.
"oh, no reason, just curious, hehe." you mumble to yourself and minji looks at you confused but then a customer walks in.
"welcome to milk mocha! how can i help you?" you begin and take the guy's order.
minji's walked away to get ready for the lunch rush, but mostly to think about your question.
--
"hanni, listen to me, the girl's weird." minji says over facetime. hanni's laying on her back scrolling through instagram and nodding along to whatever minji's ranting about.
"mhm, mhm." hanni finds a cute cat video and sends it to haerin.
"she asked me today if i was single."
"mhm."
"and like, why would you ever ask your coworker that? i think that's weird, like she's crossing work boundaries you know?"
"mhm."
"bro! are you even listening?" minji starts tapping at the screen, taking hanni's attention away from the many cat videos.
"yes bro! something about being single?" hanni only spares her some attention before returning back to her cat videos.
"yes! she asked me if i was single!"
hanni looks back into the small rectangular box that minji is in, "okay, i dont see a problem."
haerin sends over a funny gif of fluffy dogs tripping. hanni laughs while minji continues to rant about her new coworker.
then a random notification pops up.
[hairein]: "HI ITS HYEIN HI HI HI"
hyein must have taken haerin's phone and has begun spamming through all the group chats that haerin has. hanni decides that's enough scrolling for a day.
hanni closes her instagram to focus on the conversation, also muting haerin's account for good measure.
"i don't think it's weird that she asked if you're single. if you find someone weird, then of course you're going to think everything they do is weird." hanni continues as she sits up and pulls her self to her desk.
minji goes quiet, thinking about her own views on her new coworker. she's between reasoning that it's okay that she thinks you're weird, but she also feels bad because maybe you two just got off on the wrong foot.
she's never considered giving you a real chance to prove yourself. when you walked in two weeks ago for your first shift with a huge staff in hand (you were going to a convention later cosplaying as maki from jjk) minji already knew to stay away from you.
it doesn't help that the other people at work also thought you were weird. later that shift, your manager reprimanded you for showing up to work with a weapon; you profusely apologized and tried to show that it was just a foam staff. all the other workers already looked at you weirdly though, so maybe minji just followed along.
"well now i feel bad." minji concludes as hanni watches her through the screen.
"good! be more open-minded next time." hanni concludes and hangs up on minji immediately. minji on the other end drops her jaw and curses hanni through the phone.
--
"order for jay!" you shout from the counter, wiping down the americano. minji's shift just started but you're already elbow deep in your shift. it seems that friday's are always busy at miilk mocha. everyone is scrambling to get these orders out as quick as possible.
you look more tired for today's shift, constantly rubbing at your eyes and yawning when no one's looking. kazuha seems concerned that you're so tired.
"hey, you okay?" kazuha asks when you sit down for a quick break. you nod.
"yeah stayed up playing genshin, you know how things go." you explain and continue rubbing at your eyes. hitting a little too hard that it makes you see stars when you blink.
"you need to stop playing till 4am, you know you have a shift at 7." kazuha explains to you, she's already working on the next order. you take a breather and sip on the coffee you made for yourself.
"it's not my fault that game is so addicting." you explain and stretch your body, getting ready to take on the rest of the orders. minji finally fixes her apron and walks out to see you and kazuha chatting it up.
minji tries inserting herself into the conversation, hoping to see a new side of you that isn't so...peculiar.
"what's genshin?"
"minji! you don't know what genshin is?" you exclaim and begin going on a long rant about the game and it's gacha mechanics. you even begin explaining the pulls you have gotten. by the end of it, minji is even more confused and intrigued by you, also worried about your financial responsibility (lack of) because you really just dropped 300 bucks for in-game content.
--
"how are things with the new girl?" hanni's eating her sandwich and minji can't help but feel down.
minji scratches her neck as she thinks about you, "she's good...explained to me the lore of genshin, and then i found out that the staff that she brought to work on her first day was actually for a cosplay outfit, and not just a weapon she carries around."
hanni nods and grabs minji's drink, taking a sip out of it, "so, she's not that weird, just probably made a poor impression."
"yes, you were right." minji sighs and digs into her sandwich, feeling guilty about making presumptions about you.
"hey, cheer up! it's okay, i had a horrible impression of you when i first met you." hanni drinks the rest of juice and lets out a satisfied "ah." until she realizes it wasn't her drink to begin with.
minji just glares at her, "you better pay me back for that."
"see this is why i didn't like you at first." hanni complains but fishes out a five dollar bill and slaps it into minji's hand.
--
"order for macy." you grab the hot chocolate and place it on the counter. a cute little girl with pigtails walks up to the counter and grabs the hot chocolate, standing on her tippy toes. you look over the counter and aw at the cute kid.
"hi macy, want to see my latte art?" you offer, macy nods enthusiastically, you grin before grabbing the frothing cup and doing a nice rosetta for the girl.
she smiles in awe and you laugh, handing her a free cookie for staying, "don't tell anyone i gave you this, okay?" you offer your pinky finger to the small girl. she pinky swears and tucks the cookie into her jacket pocket before leaving with her hot chocolate in hand.
minji's watching the whole interaction and despite being shift manager and wanting to reprimand you for giving out free sweets to customers without asking firsthand, she doesn't have the heart to ruin the sweet act you just did.
in fact, when you find her staring at you, you let out a sheepish laugh and try to move past the fact you gave away a free cookie.
--
"minji! do you want a burger, or hot dog?" you ask, you've officially dedicated yourself the grill master at the company barbecue. the other employees are busy chatting each other up, but you're manning the grill with a coke zero in hand, and expertly making everyone's orders.
"burger, please." minji walks away from her conversation to watch over you, surprisingly you're good at manning the grill, despite still finding way to trip over nothing during work.
this side is actually quite charming, even if you have those ridiculous frog sunglasses over your eyes.
"how are you doing?" minji asks, she peers over the grill and finds rows and rows of burger patties and hot dogs on the other side. you're expertly checking each burger for doneness and rolling hot dogs to ensure even cooking.
"doing great! all patties and hot dogs are coming out delicious and hot hot hot!" you explain. you turn to her and all she can see are those goofy frog glasses on your face. you give her a smirk before turning back to the grill. "first burger that's done is yours to take, by the way."
minji blushes at the sentiment. "you really don't have to do that. everyone should eat first."
"no can do minji, got to make sure you're well fed." you explain and continue flipping burgers while drinking your coke zero. minji finds it adorable how focused you are at this job, even if no one is expecting stellar quality burgers/hot dogs.
"watch out minji!" your head turns faster and you see a football flying your way, definitely going to hit minji on the head, so you block her from the football, having it land straight into your forehead.
"oof." you land backwards and fall to the grass, now rubbing your forehead from the hit. the other coworkers are running up and checking on you, meanwhile all you can do is ask, "you alright minji? it didn't hit you right?"
she blushes wildly at the question and whispers a quiet "i'm good." while you are being pulled off the ground and everyone asks how you're doing. you make jokes, playing it off, saying you were born with a head harder than bricks. everyone laughs and returns back to what they were doing.
"okay, back to the grill." you brush off the dirt all over your apron, and start humming a song while plating finished burgers, handing the first one to minji. "for you!" you tell minji and she gives a thank you before walking away to eat it.
the rest of the barbecue, minji seems to stick by your side throughout the day. this doesn't go unnoticed by kazuha who saw the whole ordeal. her eyes squinting as she sips on her drink.
--
"zuha zuha! i'm tired!" you exclaim, you're working the earliest shift, you were opener and on food prep for the shift. it's near the middle of your shift when you decide to take your break. both kazuha and minji are busy tending to the coffee shop. you sit on a step stool behind the counter to eat a cold croissant from one of the failed batches.
"go walk around or something, you need to get your blood pumping." she explains and goes into depth about the stretches that would promote blood flow and restore energy to your body. you aren't interested in hearing actual solutions, just wanting to vent.
"no! you can't tell me what to do!" you grumble and stuff more of the croissant in your face, even picking out the ham slice to eat separately. minji finds this all a bit weird, as in weird in her stomach kind of weird. the same kind of weird she feels when someone takes the last bag of chips in the convenience store when she goes up to buy it.
she watches how kazuha is so easily able to grab you by the arm, a boundary that she would never cross. and kazuha is pushing you into the backrooms, while you make kissy faces at kazuha, all of which are being dodgeds left and right. "you love me zuha, just admit it!" you shout before the door is closed on you.
kazuha walks back out to the barista station and smiling at minji before continuing to work, "she's something else." minji just nods and tries to will away that nasty feeling in her gut.
"you know she's my cousin right?" kazuha continues, minji stops what she's doing.
"no, i didn't. wow that makes a lot of sense actually." minji explains, kazuha just laughs at her shocked face.
"yeah, just thought you should know." kazuha winks at minji before returning to her espresso machine. minji is confused by the wink, but it's too late to ask; kazuha is already busy in work mode. the feeling in her stomach quells a bit.
--
"what are you looking for?" minji jumps at the sudden voice behind her. you're peering over her shoulder as she holds the walk-in door open.
"you scared me!" minji exclaims and hits you on the shoulder, leading you to pout and rub at your shoulders.
"sorry, bad habit of mine." you explain, "so, what are you looking for?"
minji's still looking around for food that she can eat. she had the great idea of waking up an hour later today, only to find out that hanni already ate her work lunch with a measly 'sorry! i'll pay you back :)) ~hanni' scribbled over a sticky note taped to the fridge door. minji groaned and sped off to get to work on time, completely forgoing a lunch.
"hopefully lunch, hanni ate my lunch."
"you have a bunny named hanni?" you question, trying to look for food in the walk-in.
"no, i have a roommate named hanni, she always steals my food, claims it tastes better than her own food." minji sighs and looked at different rows for hopefully another lone croissant or even a cookie. "is there really no food in here?"
"probably not, since shipment's tomorrow and we've had a busy week." you explain but then you pull your phone out, making a quick call.
"yes one order of a club sandwich, with chips and a cookie please...thank you!" you speak into the phone, minji's confused but you smile at her when she looks at you confused. "okay thank you, can I pick it up now?" and then you hang up the phone.
"what was that?" minji questions but you've already darted out of the walk-in, and minji's hot on your trail watching you run out of the store and make a quick beeline to the deli store around the corner, with your work cap and work apron on. minji laughs at your antics, but her heart warms at the sentiment.
minji returns back into the coffee shop. she might as well wait for you to return so she opens her phone.
[minmin]: new girl bought me lunch
[hanbunny]: you're kidding. even i wouldn't do that.
[minmin]: of course you wouldn't you ate my work lunch!
[minmin]: literally this is all your fault >:(
[hanbunny]: hey, new girl literally is buying you lunch, i think im being a great wingwoman actually, my genius should never be doubted :>
[minmin]: shut up.
[minmin]: also pay me back.
you return breathing heavy but with a brown takeout bag in front of minji's face. minji puts her phone away as she grabs the bag, surprised to see all the things you ordered in the bag. "you really didn't have to do this, how much was it?"
"free 99, don't pay me back minji. it's a thank you for all times you've covered for me when i was late to work." you stretch your legs and sit down next to minji, watching her enjoy the food that you bought.
"want some?" minji splits half her sandwich.
"sure!" you happily grab at the half presented to you and chew happily; minji just laughs at the sight. you remind her of a dog in the way you're so energetic and food driven.
"well if you won't let me pay you back, can i cook you dinner?" minji takes a leap of faith and turns to you, your mouth drops open and you nod intensely, almost choking on the sandwich but finally swallowing the bite.
"yes! i would be honored to try your cooking." you offer as you bite into the sandwich again.
minji smiles at that, "it's a date then."
--
"no, kkura, listen. she said 'it's a date then', but like i don't actually think it's one." you explain while sakura's playing resident evil. her focus being taken up by this new development but also the anxiety from how scary the game is.
"okay, so it's a date." she echos back, moving her head away from the screen.
"but i don't think it is. you know how some people just say it's a date, but it turns out it's just a friend date?" you explain and groan into sakura's plushies.
"no, not really." sakura continues, jumping when a random NPC shows up on the screen's peripheral.
"i just don't want to make it seem like i read it wrong." you explain, toying with the feet of the duck plushie. "what if i the overread it and bring roses to a friend date, you know? then she would think i'm weird and not want to be friends with me. which is fine! but i really would like this to be a date."
"listen kid, just ask her directly if it's a friend date or more. it's easy." sakura explains plainly, frankly you've been going through this back and forth for the past fifteen minutes and sakura's had enough.
you freak out, taking a sharp intake, "absolutely not! that would ruin the mood, then i would look like i'm making her look like an idiot, and minji is not an idiot." you explain.
"i gave you the best advice i got, if you're not going to take it then leave."
"kkura pleaseeee, i need a better way to figure this out."
"nope, not hearing it, good luck!" sakura tunes you out, putting her headphones back on and locking in.
you walk out with sakura's duck plushie still in your hands, if she won't give you good advice then you're taking her belongings.
--
you give yourself some words of encouragement as you knock on her apartment door. behind this door was the living space of your crush and you were sweating, rocking on your feet back and forth in anticipation.
"hello! you're minji's coworker right?" the door opens quickly, and a shorter girl stands before you; she is definitely not minji.
"yes, and you're hanni?" you question to which she nods, excitedly welcoming you into their home. it's what you would expect of minji's living space, very light cream and brown colors all over the living space.
"hanni! i told you to let me answer the door!" minji rushes out of her room, with a cute top on and her hair done in cute braids framing her face, you think she looks gorgeous.
"well minji, it's rude to keep a guest waiting." hanni laughs and smiles at minji weirdly, giving her a quick wink and a pat on her shoulders before disappearing into her room, "it was nice to meet you!"
"you too!" you shout as hanni closes her door.
minji feathers through her hair, and directs you to take off your jacket. you're looking around and you spot minji's work clogs by the shoe rack, and laugh at the sight.
"sorry about hanni, she's usually not so enthusiastic." minji's leading you over to the kitchen where you can see her dinner being cooked. you smile at the delicious smells invading your nose.
"not at all, she seems very nice." you reply back and settle into one of the bar stools.
minji stands awkwardly, confused on how this date should go. "would you like anything to drink? we have water, juice, coke zero, wine-"
"coke zero." you decide, and minji laughs remembering your obsession with that specific drink, no other kind of coke.
"okay, coke zero it is." she hands you the drink to which you happily start drinking, even letting out a large burp, "excuse me."
minji just laughs and finishes stirring the pasta and plating them on the table, it's your favorite, carbonara. you thank the pasta gods for this delicious meal and start to dig in.
minji really hopes the pasta she made tastes good, "how is it?"
"so delicious, better than any pasta i've had before!" you are definitely enjoying the meal as you are finished with the plate before minji can even eat half of hers.
"can i have seconds?"
minji laughs, "of course."
you give yourself another bowl of pasta, happily chatting about interests, you find out that minji's a bit of a audiophile, enjoying all kinds music. she's speaking about her passions but you keep eyeing the stray hair on her cheek. so you reach out and pick it off if minji's face causing her to blush and glow red.
"thank you." she's back to the more reserved minji that you see whenever she's embarrassed. her hands are closed over each other.
"thank you for dinner by the way, you really didn't have to cook me dinner." you say in between bites. you appreciate the girl's kindness; you just can't tell if this is really a date. "i brought flowers by the way!" you go back to your bag and pull out pink carnations.
minji blushes at the gesture, finding it cute that you even thought to bring flowers. she grabs a vase and starts filling it to place the flowers that you have brought, she can't seem to contain her happiness. smiling wildly and then she feels her phone vibrate in her pocket.
[hanbunny]: hey
[hanbunny]: did you two kiss yet?
[hanbunny]: danielle's here too btw
[hanbunny]: hi minji! danielle here! i think your outfit is so cute <3333
[hanbunny]: anyways, hanni here, make a move by the end of the date, if you don't i don't have to pay you back for the lunch i stole
[hanbunny]: love you, good luck!
minji knew the two girls were up to something suspicious, hanni kept demanding that danielle come over earlier in the afternoon. she did not expect the two to be spying on her and your date. minji mutes hanni's conversation, turning to you.
"want to watch a movie?" minji asks as she walks over to the couch. you decide on the lego movie, claiming that it's been your favorite for years, and minji doesn't have the heart to tell you she finds it embarrassing to watch.
you both are enjoying it; well, mostly you are enjoying the movie, and minji's enjoying you enjoying the movie. you tend to recite the lines quietly when you know a long dialogue is coming up, or you clap when you find a scene enjoyable.
minji finds herself relaxing into the date, you seem preoccupied enough with the movie that she goes up to make some popcorn for herself. as she waits for the popcorn, she spots hanni's door cracked open. spotting two sets of eyes watching minji.
minji turns back towards the tv, happy that you haven't discovered the two. "i'm going to the bathroom." minji shouts. you give her a thumbs up and an okay, minji turns to hanni's room.
both girls are eyes wide seeing minji stalk towards them, trying to shut the door but minji's too strong, barging into the room, with hanni tumbling backwards into danielle. both of them sprawled out on hanni's carpet.
"you two have been spying us this whole time?" minji whisper shouts at them. quickly shutting the door behind her.
"i'm sorry!" danielle squeaked out while hanni glared at minji.
"you have nothing to be sorry about dani, minji here just doesn't understand that we are emotional support for her first date!" hanni explains, getting up to sit on her bed.
minji groans and looks around, seeing a giant corkboard filled with poorly shot photos of you and her at work, red string pinned criss crossing all over the board, as if this were a murder case.
"hanni, what is this?" minji nearly shouts, she's horrified to see photos of herself eyeing you or the other way around. hanni simply smiles at her work.
"this is my board for mission: GMAG." she explains proudly, "stands for mission: get minji a girlfriend."
"you have got to be kidding me." minji looks all over the board, trying not to be upset at hanni. she understands the girl is just looking out for her, but this is all a bit much.
"this wasn't my idea!" danielle explains, minji knows that danielle would never do something like this. so she glares at hanni instead, the girl just smirks and points at the board instead.
"whatever, just don't make a peep, i need to get back to this date." minji explains and closes the door behind her, leaving the two alone.
"sorry that took so long." minji walks into the living room, seeing you happily invested in the movie. you smile at her, and pat the seat next to you, inviting her to join you.
"no worries, movie's good!" you explain. even though minji might not completely love the lego movie, she is enjoying being around you and spending time with you. also find it cute that you dropped a blanket over her as she got comfortable.
you recognize the final portion of the movie, "this is my favorite part, minji." you explain to her how cool the collaboration of lego fans and the production cast were. giving her insight on the movie that she definitely did not know. she ends up kissing you through your avid explanation, with your hands all over the place.
you thank the heavens she made the first move because you were worried this was a friend date. minji turns shy at the action, a little shocked by her own boldness. she shifts away from you and avoids your eye contact.
"minji, you just kissed me." you say, a little slow on the pick up. your brain is trying to catch up to what just happened. minji just nods, seemingly invested in the ending credits.
"did you mean to?" you ask, pushing her shoulder a bit.
"yes." she says and you can see her ears getting all red from the embarrassment.
"oh thank god, because i wasn't sure if this was a friend date or romantic date, i mean obviously i wanted it to be a romantic date, but i really wasn't sure if it was. i asked my roommate for help, but she was no help. she told me to ask you if this was a more than a friendly date, and i was like nuh uh no way i am going to ask minji that." you trail on and on, a nervous habit you picked up whenever you didn't know what to say next.
minji kisses you a second time. and you stop talking. "it's definitely more than a friend kind of date." she reaffirms your suspicions and you let out a little laugh. you pull her into a hug, before grabbing her face and giving her a kiss as well.
"i want to kiss you more often." you say.
"yeah?"
"yeah." you conclude proudly.
hanni and danielle are still in hanni's room with their ears against the gap of the door. and then you hear a loud squeal followed by a loud crash. you turn to minji and she immediately groans.
"hanni!" minji shouts. it's silent for a couple seconds until you hear a timid muffled voice. and out comes two girls from hanni's room. you're shocked because you completely forgot about hanni, and to now learn that there was another girl too makes you even more confused.
"hi minji, hello minji's lover." hanni smirks at you, while you hide yourself behind minji.
"hanni stop." minji groans out.
"what? mission: gmag is a success from what i can see." hanni gives you a wink, you feel oddly exposed by the action. meanwhile, hanni's friend is just smiling and nodding at you. you feel a little less worried with her.
as minji and her two friends head back into hanni's room to assess the aftermath caused by the troublemakers. you sit back, scratching your head and munching on popcorn. puzzled by hanni's interest in you.
minji returns with a smile, and casually suggests, "another movie?"
"lego movie part 2?" you ask with a grin.

Before you could take a step into the bus that one of your friends already owned, you felt a vibration in your pocket followed by your ringtone.
Without wasting much time you pulled your phone out of your pocket and furrowed your eyebrows at the contact name.
You picked it up and held the phone close to your ear. “Hey bae what’s up?” You asked in a concerned tone at why she was suddenly calling you when it wasn’t even up to 10 mins after you left home.
She coughed loudly. “Sorry, ummm y/n… I’m sorry for disturbing you but can you come back home? I’m feeling a bit sick” she expressed.
You felt like she was lying at first but when you heard the tone of her voice and how tiredly she talked you couldn’t help but feel even more worried.
“I’m truly sorry for disturbing you, there’s no one to take care of me…and I can’t even move an inch” she added sluggishly.
“Alright, I’ll be there in five minutes”
As you hastily ended the call, you glanced over at your friends who looked at you with worried expressions.
“Y/n is everything okay?” One of them asked.
“Not really, something important pulled up but don’t worry you guys can go without me, I’ll probably go another time” you responded with a faint smile leaving the venue.
You made your way towards both you and Minji's shared apartment, opening the door with a spare key. You noticed minji curled up on the couch looking under the weather.
Kneeling in front of her you lightly traced your fingertips over her sweaty-damp bangs. And rested the back of your hand on her forehead quickly retreating it. “Oh My you’re burning”
You gently held the back of her head helping her to sit up and lean back against the pillow handing her a box of tissue as she gave it a little blow.
“Hold on, let me cook something for you” you stood up from your kneels making your way over to the kitchen.
In less than 15 minutes you had whipped up some Samgyetang for her.
You placed the steaming hot bowl in front of her sitting right beside her. You scooped up a big spoon of the steaming hot soup and motioned it towards Minji's mouth.
She slightly parted her lips as you slipped the spoon into her mouth. She gulped down letting the hot liquid flow down her throat.
You fed her until she was full, letting her lay her head on your laps as you ran your fingers through her hair.
She slept so peacefully but she didn’t know what was coming for her next.
“Why can’t you just take the medicine? Do you want to be sick forever?” You questioned motioning the medicine towards minji’s mouth.
“Nuh uh, it’s bitter and disgusting” Minji huffed, swaying her head away from the liquid. Burying her face into a pillow nearby.
“Babe come on, stop being so difficult, the taste is going to fade away before you even realize it. Now open your mouth and take this medicine” you spoke in a soft and gentle tone.
“Minji….”
“No”
“Please….” You pleaded.
She sighed. “Fine, I’ll take it” she replied with a sulky expression.
She parted her lips as you slipped the bitter liquid into her mouth. Gulping it down her throat, she looked at you with a disgusted look as she gagged dramatically causing you to playfully roll your eyes. “See it wasn’t so bad now was it” you teased.
“Yes it was”
You chuckled lightly but stopped when you heard a ding coming from your phone.
Your friends had sent you a picture of them enjoying their trip with the caption. “What you’re missing out on😜”.
You slightly pouted that you couldn’t be there right now, enjoying with them.
Minji noticed your sudden change in demeanor. Peeking over your shoulders to see what made you pout a bit.
She felt so guilty for being the cause of it.
Tears began to fall from her eyes down to her cheeks as she looked down at the floor.
You responded to your friends shutting your phone and looking back at minji. “So should we watch a—“ you cut yourself off as you noticed her looking down.
“Min is everything alright?” You asked softly, placing your finger below her chin, raising her head up. You felt more worried as you saw a tear stain on her cheek.
Minji sniffed and immediately wiped away her tears. “Yes but it’s just…. Your friends are probably having fun while your here and I’m the cause of it” she sniffed in between her words.
“No minji—“
“It’s all my fault and I’m a suck a burden, I’m sorry” she said, not breaking eye contact with the floor.
“Minji you’re not a burden, you were sick and there was no one to take care of you and you did the right thing. It was good I took care of you before the sickness would’ve gotten worse, and I can hang out anytime with my friends” you spoke, confronting her as you placed a soft kiss on her lips.
“Really? I’m not a burden?” She looked up at you and then laid her head on your lap.
“No you’re not, you’re my first priority”
“The hangout was at the beach and I can definitely go to the beach any time, I can even go with you” you added.
“You’re so sweet, I’m so lucky to have you as my girlfriend” she mumbled but it was audible.
You giggled lightly and planted another soft kiss on her forehead. “So am I”

NEWJEANS WITH A CRUSH
how newjeans act when they have a crush
TAGS: headcanons. pure fluff. set in highschool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
KIM MINJI
• lowkey highkey a chicken
• her crush was so obvious even the school janitor knows. her eyes practically shoots hearts at the sight of you. her face lights up like a child opening presents when you're in the same vicinity as her
• one of the prettiest girl in the school but when you talk to her she turns to the lamest of losers
• can act a little more normal when she's around friends. but when its just the two of you, her steps are a little slower and she's a little more hyperaware of her surroundings. but her smile is undoubtedly wider and everything about her just glows.
• she just smiles at you like a fool, sometimes she forgets to even breath. you can run your mouth but she's too busy daydreaming for your words to register in her mush of a mind
• but she tries to recover by inviting you on study dates sessions. where you both never really study and just end up getting kicked out of the library.
• her friends were quick to get tired of the pinning. the secret glances and the fleeting touches were so painful to watch they had to intervene.
you sit idly at the swings, staring at the families and couple around you. the sun paints the park in orange glow. hearing footsteps behind you, you turn around to meet minji's eyes.
"hey," she greets as she sits beside you. "what did you want to meet up for?" she asks you and she looks so cute with one of her eyebrows raised and her lips in a small smile.
you furrow your eyebrows at her. "i was about to ask the same thing. you're the one who gave me a note saying you have something to tell me." you reach to your left pocket to take out a yellow note.
she watches you cautiously, her gut already forming a hunch. she could see it from a mile away. but its too late.
minji takes a note that looks similar to yours out of her back pocket. she watches your face attentively, witnessing how the gears on your mind twisted and turned before the realization dawning on you. she averts her eyes shyly.
"guess we got played, huh?" you smile bashfully. and minji's lips turned upward automatically.
suddenly, her face turned blank and at the corner of your eye you see her fists clench on her lap. she didn't look serious or nervous, just blank and frozen. yet, her eyes bore into your soul.
in her mind, minji thinks its far too late to turn back. there's no point in doing so even if she can anyway. you were here and she was in front of you. only a fool would let a chance like this go to waste. minji is a coward but she is no fool.
"i like you."
PHAM HANNI
• she would throw herself off a cliff before confessing her feelings. no, not because she's scared to be rejected. but she wants you to be the one to confess.
• flirts with you every opportunity she gets. and if there isn't any she makes one. her day cannot be over without seeing your blushing face.
• every time she compliments you its paired with a hug or a kiss in the cheek just to show she means it with all her heart
• then she teases you for being so flustered because she's cheeky.
• always touching you one way or another. whether it be linking your pinky fingers or leaning her head on your shoulder. you name it.
• hanni would be doing everything in the book apart from confessing. she doesn't mind how long it takes, she'll get you to confess to her.
• however, she does drop hints to speed things up. like making you sit through thousand of rom-coms. and when one of the protagonists profess their undying love, she always wonders how being confessed to feels like.
you sit at the couch with hanni curled up beside you. the two of you were wrapped in a fluffy blanket while the empty bowl of popcorn is nestled between hanni's arms. you don't know it but hanni doesn't move to place the bowl to the coffee table because she fears that moving an inch would make you remove your arms around her.
a familiar scene comes onscreen. you know this part, it's the scene where the main characters confess their feeling to each other. "we've watched this so many times. i can literally recite this scene word for word," you keep your gazed fixed on the screen.
"really? say it to me then," hanni's reply came natural, like she practiced saying that line a thousand times. your head snapped to the girl beside you to find her already waiting for your eyes.
"let's see it then," she challenges. her smirk ever widening. you yield.
"i love that you get cold when it's 71 degrees out. i love that it takes you an hour-and-a-half to order a sandwich." you recite the first two lines with the help of the actual movie, turning to it every time you forget a word.
your gaze fell to hanni one more time, and the lines came naturally flooding at the top of your head. yet, the words got stuck on your throat for a moment as you see her watch you with a fond smile. "i .. i love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like i'm nuts."
"i love that when I spend a day with you, i can still smell your perfume on my clothes," your smile fell slowly word by word. your heart skipped at the realization that the words, no matter how unoriginal, came straight from your heart.
hanni looks at you, overjoyed. her heart swells at every syllable that leaves your lips. she'd hang every star in the sky just for you.
"and i love that you are the last person i want to talk to before i go to sleep at night," you finish. and only then did you realize how close your faces are.
a silent second pass consisting of the sound of the forgotten movie in the background.
"i meant it. every word," you confess.
"took you long enough"
MARSH DANIELLE
• she's the first one to realize her crush on you. because she's that in tune with her emotions
• dani tries to make it obvious. and in hindsight it is.
• she leaves cute notes at your locker filled with pink hearts. that asks about your day, or reminds you to eat and never lets you forget to take care of yourself
• miss marsh makes time to talk to you everyday, going out of her to meet you no matter how inconvenient the situation is to her. her class might be at the other end of the school but she'd still show up to bring you a cup of coffee or tea.
• but you still don't notice any of her advances. and its starting to frustrate her.
• but could she blame you? she is friends with the whole school. it was only natural to think you were of her many close friends who she enjoys the company of
danielle walks besides you. you glance at her for a moment and god she is so bright. the sweetest. she shines as radiant like no other. and the best part is she's right beside you.
"thank you for always walking me. you're such a nice friend," you think at how she's been nothing but nice ever since you've met her. an angel.
you look back towards danielle to see her frowning at you like you just cursed at her. "what's wrong, dani?" you ask a bit worried at her sudden mood change.
"a...friend,"she mumbles the word to herself in disgust. her eyes on fixated on the ground.
"yeah? im glad you consider me close enough of a friend. i mean you have so many friends,bi just think im lucky," you say like its so obvious. and danielle finally meets your eyes, they held disappointment.
you were denser than she thought. or were you just deliberately looking the other way. her minds is breaking in two thinking of all the reasons why you still have not caught on to her intentions yet.
"i didn't think you were this oblivious," she says straight to your face and you were about to take offense when you realized you had no idea of what she's complaining about.
"well, why don't you stop sulking and tell me what the problem is so we can fix it, dani," you wait for her response eagerly. what has made sweet danielle so irritated. you ensure revenge on anything anyone that dares to harm precious dan-
"its you."
"what did i do?" your words came out like a cry, putting your hand on your heart dramatically in shock.
"you're too stupid to realize i like you."
KANG HAERIN
• poor girl never realized she had a crush on you.
• everything just came natural. she didn't think of you as a friend yet the thought of being your lover never crossed her mind either. and she never stopped to think what that meant
• she never missed your presence because she tries to follow you everywhere. although she resembles more like a lost puppy rather than a shadow.
• before everyone knew it, she was acting like your girlfriend. all the while she is still unaware of her own feelings.
• one day, she just start sitting with you during lunch. and from that day forward, you both eat together. sometimes in comforting silence, other times in quiet chatter.
• she didn't even notice she was waiting outside your classes just to walk you to your next.
• haerin needed the words of others to finally know what she's been feeling
"here. let me pay," you took your wallet out you pocket and opened it. suddenly, haerin placed her hand on top of yours.
"no. i was the one who invited you," her hand snatched the bill quickly. and when you tried to reach get it out of her palms, she puts it out of your reach.
thankfully, night time meant there were only a few people in the cafe. but that doesn't mean your little squabble didn't get their attention though.
"nope," your hand pulls her arm back gently. "come on, give me that."
"come get it then, shortie," she laughs at your attempts. haerin's heart jump as you try to get closer and closer. your hands brushed with her for a second, her skin tingling where your touch met hers.
"look, why don't we just split the bill?" you relent, you knew haerin too well to know she'd never hand that booklet over even if you attempt a thousand times.
"give up already?" she teases but she puts the bill down. and you take this chance to grab it and run to the cashier, handing her your money swiftly.
"come on, that's so unfair," haerin complained as she walked over to you, admitting defeat. she would've run to chase you but a part of her wanted to see the victorious smile adorning your face.
"shut up, loser," you stuck your tongue out. you look back towards the cashier who is looking at the both of you with a small smile. "oh to be young and in love again."
"oh- uh- we're not, actually we're...yeah," you fumble, making the old woman in front of you laugh.
"oh, i know." she smiles at you mysteriously like she knows something you don't. she hands you the receipt and you bow at her one last time before exiting the cafe.
you look behind you to see haerin deep in her thoughts. "hey don't mind what she sa-"
haerin puts a finger on her lips, "shush, i'm thinking." you roll your eyes playfully at her but still giving her silence like she wanted.
haerin's thoughts drift from the little ache she tries her hardest to ignore when you're away to the way her heart drums in her ear when you're near.
everything felt like a puzzle finally coming to place. well, she would've come to this conclusion on her own but she was too occupied pinning over you to notice. she wasn't shocked, more like "aha!"
haerin's hand caught your wrist to stop you from walking. the moonlight illuminating your confused face. she looks at you, chill and cool as ever. as if she'd let her voice waiver at a time like this.
she says in the steadiest voice like the words were as natural as uttering her own name, "i think i like you."

Under The Spotlight (kim minji X reader)
A/N : This is bad 😔 sorry for late tho🥹🤍
(@aggiewithegg Thanks for Idea!🩷)

The crowd’s cheers roared louder than ever as the final act took the stage, but you could hardly focus on the sound. Tonight marked a milestone—your group’s debut performance at one of the most prestigious award shows in the industry. Every movement of your choreography felt sharper, and every lyric you sang carried the weight of months of practice and sleepless nights.
You didn’t notice her watching you.
In the front row, Minji of NewJeans leaned forward slightly, her eyes following every step, every glance, every smile you offered the camera. She tried to convince herself it was admiration—a senior supporting a rookie—but the quickening of her heartbeat said otherwise.
You were her ultimate bias.
She discovered you long before you debuted. A self-made playlist featuring your pre-debut covers had been her secret solace during late-night practices. Seeing you now, under the blinding lights, commanding the stage, left her breathless.
“Minji, are you okay?” Hanni nudged her, smirking knowingly.
“Fine,” Minji replied, sitting back, though her eyes never left you.
---
After your performance, you felt lighter, almost euphoric, as you joined the rest of the rookie groups backstage. While greeting other idols, you felt a tap on your shoulder. Turning around, you found yourself face-to-face with Minji.
“Oh, hi!” you blurted, bowing deeply.
Her smile was warm yet shy. “Hi. Your performance was amazing. I’ve been looking forward to your debut.”
You blinked, unsure if you’d heard her correctly. “You... know about us?”
Minji chuckled softly. “Of course. You’re hard to miss.”
A blush crept up your cheeks as you thanked her, feeling a strange mix of pride and disbelief. Before either of you could say more, staff called for her group. Minji offered a quick, almost reluctant wave before disappearing into the crowd.
---
Weeks passed, and you couldn’t stop replaying that moment. It didn’t help that Minji’s words lingered in your mind, fueling your determination during practice. Meanwhile, Minji found herself scrolling through your group’s social media, smiling at your updates.
The universe seemed determined to bring you together. Shared interviews, overlapping schedules, and fleeting interactions became a regular occurrence. Each time, you both grew a little braver, exchanging shy smiles and inside jokes.
One evening, after another event, Minji found you sitting alone in a quiet corner of the venue, fiddling with your phone.
“Hey,” she called softly, sitting beside you.
“Hey,” you replied, your heart skipping a beat.
For a while, neither of you spoke, letting the hum of distant chatter fill the silence. Then Minji turned to you, her expression serious.
“Can I be honest?” she asked.
You nodded, unsure where this was going.
“I’ve been a fan of yours for a while. Even before your debut,” she confessed, her voice barely above a whisper. “And... I think I like you. More than I should.”
Her words hung in the air, leaving you stunned. You wanted to respond, but the weight of the confession left you speechless.
“It’s okay if you don’t feel the same,” Minji added quickly, misinterpreting your silence. “I just needed to say it.”
“No, wait,” you interrupted, your words tumbling out. “I... I like you too. But—”
“But we’re idols,” she finished, a bittersweet smile forming on her lips.
You nodded, the reality of your situation sinking in.
---
Despite the odds, you couldn’t stay away from each other. Late-night phone calls and hidden messages became your lifeline, a secret world where you could be yourselves.
However, the pressure began to build. Rumors swirled when fans noticed your subtle interactions, and the constant fear of being discovered weighed heavily on you both.
One night, after a particularly grueling schedule, you called Minji.
“Is this worth it?” you asked, your voice breaking.
“Yes,” she replied without hesitation. “You’re worth it. We’ll figure it out.”
Her certainty gave you strength.
---
At the next awards show, as you accepted the Best New Artist award with your group, your eyes instinctively sought her out in the crowd. Minji met your gaze, her smile reassuring.
Later, backstage, she found you again.
“Congratulations,” she said, handing you a small, folded note.
“Thank you,” you replied, pocketing it quickly before anyone could see.
That night, as you sat alone in your dorm, you unfolded the note.
No matter how hard it gets, I’ll always be your biggest fan. Let’s keep cheering for each other.
You smiled, clutching the note to your chest. The road ahead wouldn’t be easy, but with Minji by your side—even in secret—you felt ready to face whatever came your way.
---
And in the fleeting moments under the spotlight, you found something even brighter: each other.

Minji’s Remedy: Love as Medicine
MinjiXfemreader
Tumblr media
Synopsis:Minji devotes an entire day to lovingly caring for her sick girlfriend, proving that love is the greatest remedy.
warning:No one
A/n:I really wrote this story during my French class XD
The biting winter wind howled against the apartment windows, leaving a thin layer of frost that sparkled under the pale daylight. Inside, Y/n lay stretched out on the living room couch, bundled in a thick blanket. A harsh, painful cough shook her weakened body, her usually vibrant face pale and marked by fever. She hadn’t found the strength to get up that morning; every movement felt like an enormous effort.
Minji, her attentive girlfriend, was in the kitchen, worry etched across her face. The moment she had seen Y/n’s condition upon waking, she knew the day would be dedicated entirely to taking care of her. Minji wasn’t one to hesitate or falter in moments like these. She took charge with quiet determination and unwavering love.
A Difficult Morning
Minji entered the living room with a tray in her hands. It held a cup of honey-lemon tea, a plate of sliced fruit, and a small towel soaked in warm water. She placed the tray on the coffee table and sat beside Y/n, whose eyes opened halfway. Minji smiled softly, her fingers brushing Y/n’s feverish cheek.
“How are you feeling, love?” Minji asked in a comforting voice.
“Like a truck ran me over,” Y/n replied with a raspy laugh, followed by another coughing fit.
Minji frowned, visibly pained to see her in such a state. “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of you. You don’t have to do anything today except rest.”
She picked up the tea and brought it to Y/n’s lips, gently supporting her as she sipped. The warmth soothed Y/n’s sore throat, and she closed her eyes in relief. Setting the tea down, Minji used the warm towel to dab Y/n’s forehead and temples, trying to reduce her fever.
“You know,” Minji said with a faint smile, “you don’t have to act tough with me. If you’re feeling awful, just tell me, okay?”
Y/n nodded, touched by Minji’s care. “Thank you for being here for me. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
Minji gazed at her tenderly. “You’ll never have to find out because I’m not going anywhere.”
A Day of Care
After ensuring Y/n was comfortable on the couch, Minji got to work preparing everything Y/n might need. She started by making homemade soup, blending fresh vegetables and medicinal herbs. The kitchen, usually her playground for experimenting with new recipes, was now transformed into a healing haven.
As the soup simmered, Minji returned frequently to the living room to check on Y/n. She adjusted the blankets, offered her water or tea, and gently held her hand, providing constant reassurance.
“You know,” Y/n said weakly but with a hint of humor, “I think you’re more efficient than a professional nurse.”
Minji laughed. “Well, I might be a bit too emotionally involved for that. But if it makes you feel better, I’m happy.”
When the soup was ready, Minji brought a steaming bowl to the living room. She sat beside Y/n, spoon-feeding her carefully. Though Y/n was reluctant at first, she ended up finishing most of the bowl. The soup’s warmth seemed to revive her slightly.
“You’re amazing, you know that?” Y/n murmured, her eyes shining with gratitude.
Minji shook her head with a modest smile. “I’m just doing what anyone would do for the person they love.”
A Moment of Respite
After eating, Y/n felt well enough to chat a bit. Minji suggested putting on a movie to lighten the mood. She picked a light romantic comedy, knowing it was one of Y/n’s favorite genres. As they watched, Y/n snuggled against her, resting her head on Minji’s shoulder.
“You’re so warm,” Y/n murmured, her voice nearly a whisper. “It’s like you’re my little ray of sunshine.”
Minji’s heart swelled at the words. She wrapped her arms around Y/n, pressing a kiss to her forehead. “And you’re my everything. I’m here, okay? Always.”
A Quiet Afternoon
The afternoon passed peacefully. Ever-vigilant, Minji continued monitoring Y/n’s condition, frequently checking her temperature and ensuring she stayed hydrated. She also made sure Y/n was entertained without exerting herself. At one point, she offered to read aloud, bringing a smile to Y/n’s face.
“What should I read?” Minji asked, scanning the bookshelf.
“That one,” Y/n said, pointing to a romance novel they’d started together but never finished.
Minji settled beside Y/n and opened the book, her soft voice filling the room. She read with such emotion that Y/n felt transported into the story. For a moment, she forgot her illness, carried away by the words and Minji’s comforting presence.
A Moment of Vulnerability
Later in the day, Y/n was suddenly overwhelmed by a wave of emotion. The physical pain, combined with Minji’s tender care, brought tears to her eyes. Alarmed, Minji immediately set the book down and enveloped her in a hug.
“What’s wrong, love? Does it hurt too much?” she asked, her voice trembling with concern.
Y/n shook her head. “No… it’s not that. I’m just… so lucky to have you. You’re always here for me, even when I’m at my lowest. I don’t know if I deserve all this.”
Minji tightened her embrace, her own eyes glistening with tears. “Y/n, listen to me. You deserve all the love in the world and more. You’re the most important person in my life, and there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you. You don’t have to feel guilty or unworthy. I’m here because I love you, plain and simple.”
They stayed wrapped in each other’s arms for a while, a silence filled with understanding and comfort enveloping them.
A Peaceful Evening
As night fell, Minji helped Y/n into bed. She adjusted the pillows, made sure the blankets were snug, and then sat beside her.
“Do you want me to stay with you tonight?” Minji asked.
Y/n nodded faintly. “Please. I always sleep better when you’re here.”
Minji smiled and slipped under the covers, wrapping an arm around Y/n. She gently stroked her hair, whispering words of love and silent promises. Gradually, Y/n drifted off, her breathing evening out as her fever began to subside.
Minji stayed awake a little longer, watching over her like a vigilant guardian. Though Y/n was still weak, Minji could see she was improving. And as long as she was there, she’d do everything in her power to make Y/n feel loved and supported.
Love as a Remedy
The next morning, when Y/n opened her eyes, she found Minji asleep beside her, arms still wrapped around her. She felt immediately comforted, a wave of gratitude washing over her. Though not fully recovered, she knew she would get better because Minji was by her side.
“Thank you,” she whispered, pressing a kiss to Minji’s forehead.
Minji opened one eye, smiling faintly. “It’s my job to take care of you, remember? And I’d do it over and over again because I love you.”
Y/n smiled, tears glistening in her eyes. In that quiet yet powerful moment, she realized once again that Minji’s love was the greatest remedy of all.

BABYSITTER | kim minji
Tumblr media
NEW JEANS: kim minji x reader
SYNOPSIS: you’re tired of babysitting your little brother so your parents hire a new babysitter, kim minji.
CATEGORY: a really short and fluffy story <3
WORD COUNT: 189
So, there you were, tired of constantly looking after your little brother. I mean, seriously, the kid had more energy than a squirrel on caffeine!
Your parents finally decided to get a babysitter for him, and boy, were you relieved. They hired this girl named Minji, and little did you know, your life was about to take a hilarious turn.
One evening, you came home early and walked into the living room to find Minji playing video games with your brother. She was totally into it, giving your brother a run for his money.
You couldn't help but be impressed. Babysitter goals, am I right?
You introduced yourself to Minji, and right off the bat, you felt something. It was like a spark of chemistry?.
From that day on, you made it a point to come home early whenever Minji was around. You two became great friends, hanging out outside your house and doing all sorts of silly stuff together.
And then, one magical day, Minji dropped a bombshell.
She confessed her love feelings for you. You couldn't believe it! But hey, turns out you felt the same way. You blurted out that you liked her too, and just like that, you two became a couple.
From that moment on, life became a whirlwind of adventures and laughter. You'd go on ridiculous dates, like having ice cream-eating competitions or trying to see who can stay still on a skateboard without falling.
You were like a couple of lovestruck goofy girls, and it was absolutely fantastic.

Sweet like Sin (Extras) - Kim Minji x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
a/n: sooo i really liked this fanfic, and i already miss it:( so here are a few gag reels!
--
Y/N takes Minji to volunteer, hoping it’ll be a straightforward way for her to practice kindness.
Y/N: handing Minji a ladle “Just serve the soup. That’s all you have to do.”
Minji: enthusiastically “You got it, boss!”
Minji accidentally tilts the pot too far, sending soup splashing across the counter.
Minji: holding up the empty pot “Well, at least no one’s hungry anymore!”
Y/N: groaning “Minji, no one even got a bowl yet!”
Minji: grinning sheepishly “Oops?”
--
Y/N decides Minji might connect with the gentleness of animals.
Y/N: watching Minji pet a baby goat “See? This isn’t so bad. Just be gentle.”
Minji: nodding “I’m always gentle!”
The goat suddenly nibbles on Minji’s hair, startling her.
Minji: flailing “Ah! It’s eating me!”
Her wings flap in panic, causing a nearby chicken to squawk and scatter. This sets off a chain reaction of chaos.
Y/N: dodging a stampede of farm animals “Minji! What did you do?!”
Minji: standing in the middle of the mess, holding the goat protectively “I think I made a new friend?”
--
Y/N thinks a group painting session will let Minji’s creativity shine.
Y/N: demonstrating “Okay, just dip your brush in the paint and add your part to the mural.”
Minji: excitedly dipping her brush “Got it!”
She accidentally flings paint behind her, splattering the nearby artists.
Minji: whipping around to apologize, sending even more paint flying “Oh no, I’m so sorry!”
Y/N: now covered in paint “Minji, please stop moving!”
Minji: freezing, looking down at the paintbrush in her hand “Does this mean I’m not getting an A for effort?”
--
Y/N suggests Minji hand out balloons to cheer up the kids.
Y/N: handing Minji the balloon bouquet “Just walk around and hand these out. No flying, no stunts.”
Minji: saluting dramatically “Yes, ma’am!”
Minji trips over her own feet, releasing the balloons, which drift toward the ceiling.
Minji: looking up “Well, uh... at least the ceiling looks happier?”
Y/N: facepalming “Why did I think this would be simple?”
--
Minutes after Minji receives her halo.
Minji: poking at her new halo “So, uh... how do you keep this thing from falling off?”
Y/N: sighing “It doesn’t fall off. It’s literally a part of you.”
Minji: leaning too far forward, her halo slipping and wobbling “Then why does it feel like it’s about to fall—oops!”
The halo tumbles off Minji’s head and lands in the stream, causing a splash.
Y/N: pinching the bridge of her nose “Only you, Minji. Only you.”
Minji: grinning sheepishly “Guess I’m a work in progress?”
Y/N: sighing but smiling “Always.”
--
Minji decides to cook dinner for Y/N to show her gratitude.
Minji: wearing an apron that says “Kiss the Cook” “I’m going to make the best meal you’ve ever had!”
Y/N: sitting cautiously at the table “I’m terrified but also impressed by your enthusiasm.”
Minji accidentally turns the stove too high, causing flames to leap up from the pan.
Minji: panicking, grabbing a pot lid “Is this supposed to happen?!”
Y/N: rushing over “No, it’s not supposed to happen!”
After extinguishing the fire, Y/N surveys the smoke-filled kitchen and the ruined meal.
Minji: offering Y/N a charred piece of toast with puppy-dog eyes “Still romantic, right?”
Y/N: taking the toast with a sigh “You’re lucky you’re cute.”
--
Minji insists on giving Y/N a ride through the skies to impress her.
Minji: smirking “Hop on. I’m an expert at this.”
Y/N: nervously climbing onto Minji’s back “If we crash, I’m revoking your flight privileges forever.”
Minji takes off but wobbles as she tries to do a fancy loop. They narrowly avoid colliding with a cloud of angelic doves.
Y/N: clutching Minji tightly “Watch out! That was someone’s choir practice!”
Minji: laughing nervously “Okay, so maybe I’m almost an expert.”
Y/N: reluctantly laughing as they land safely “You’re a menace, but that was... kind of fun.”
--
Minji challenges Y/N to a game of angelic trivia, confident she’ll win despite her lack of celestial knowledge.
Y/N: reading a question “What’s the primary duty of a seraphim?”
Minji: with over-the-top confidence “Uh, setting stuff on fire? They have so many wings; they probably need to do something cool.”
Y/N: laughing uncontrollably “That’s... not even remotely close.”
Minji pouts as Y/N racks up more points, eventually flipping the board in mock frustration.
Minji: dramatically “This game is rigged!”
Y/N: teasing “Maybe if you studied instead of trying to cheat, you’d actually win.”
Minji: leaning closer with a sly smile “Or maybe I just wanted to see you laugh like that.”
--
Minji convinces Y/N to teach her an angelic waltz.
Y/N: leading Minji through the steps “One, two, three. One, two, three. See? Not so hard.”
Minji: accidentally stepping on Y/N’s foot “Oops! Uh... graceful like a swan?”
Y/N: wincing “More like a duck on roller skates.”
Minji spins Y/N too forcefully, and they both tumble to the ground in a heap, laughing breathlessly.
Minji: still holding Y/N’s hand “I think we nailed it.”
Y/N: smiling despite herself “You’re impossible.”
--
Minji tosses Y/N’s halo into the air like a frisbee, despite Y/N’s protests.
Y/N: chasing after it “Minji, stop throwing my—oh no!”
The halo gets stuck on a tree branch. Minji tries to retrieve it but accidentally knocks the entire branch down instead.
Minji: sheepishly handing the halo back “Good news: I got it down! Bad news: that tree might need a little help.”
Y/N: taking the halo with an exasperated smile “You’re lucky you’re adorable.”
--
Minji spots a line of angels gracefully sliding down a rainbow bridge for fun and decides to join in.
Minji: excitedly “This is going to be epic!”
She dives headfirst but slides too fast, knocking over three angels like bowling pins before landing in a fluffy cloud.
Y/N: arriving breathlessly “What did I say about blending in?”
Minji: popping her head out of the cloud, grinning “I did blend in—just... dynamically!”
Y/N: facepalming “You’re a celestial hazard.”
--
Minji volunteers to sing in the heavenly choir, claiming she has a “demonically good” voice.
Choir Leader: politely “Follow my lead, and keep it soft and harmonious.”
Minji belts out a dramatic rock rendition of the hymn, complete with air guitar motions. The other angels look horrified.
Y/N: yanking her off the stage “What part of angelic choir did you misunderstand?”
Minji: shrugging “I thought it needed some... spice?”
Y/N: sighing “You’re banned from music practice forever.”
--
Minji finds a group of cherubs playing a game with halos and decides to show off her “skills.”
Minji: grabbing a halo “Watch and learn, kiddos!”
She attempts a trick shot, tossing the halo into the air, but it ricochets off a harp, bounces into a fountain, and lands on Y/N’s head.
Y/N: deadpan “Impressive aim.”
Minji: proudly “See? I’m a natural!”
Cherubs: cheering “Do it again!”
Y/N: groaning “Please don’t.”
--
Minji discovers a pile of angel feathers meant for crafting and starts a playful pillow fight with the angels nearby.
Minji: hurling a fluffy handful at Y/N “You’re going down!”
Y/N: dodging “Minji, this is not a—”
Before she can finish, Minji slips on the feathers, sending both herself and the pile flying. She ends up sprawled on the floor, covered in white fluff.
Y/N: trying not to laugh “Congratulations. You’ve invented angel snow angels.”
Minji: making one “I think I nailed it.”
--
Minji insists on sliding down the golden staircase like a kid at a waterpark.
Y/N: arms crossed “Minji, you’re supposed to walk gracefully.”
Minji: already halfway down, yelling “Too late!”
She crashes into a group of dignified seraphim at the bottom, who glare at her in disapproval.
Minji: dusting herself off, sheepish “Uh, first-time slider privileges?”
Y/N: apologizing profusely to the seraphim “I don’t know her.”
Minji: grinning at Y/N “Oh, you definitely know me.”

Ooooh~ Drink mix up? >.>
Because! Wes DID, in fact, get that dream job. HAS learned... after many, many hours of "beat about the head and shoulders with an ethics pamphlet by his great aunt", to keep his mouth shut! Family curse of Sight? WHAT family curse?
He doesn't see shit! Mind your business.
What're you? A cop?
Look, he sent Fenton a gift basket. He was a shitty, shitty "I have to be RIGHT and nothing else matters!" Stubborn lil asshole of a kid. He got better. Grew up. No one is there best Self during puberty. He DOES, in fact, regret it.
Which is WHY, he is deliberately ignoring Kent's terrible, awful, paper-thin, "who meee~?" Aw shucks BULLSHIT excuse of a disguise, like it isn't blatantly obvious he's Superman. Yep. Nothing to see here! Nothing but us chickens! Mmmmm, morning coffee! Delicious.
But see, here's the THING.
The Itty, bitty, teeny lil PROBLEM...
Wes grew up in Amity "Totally Not Supernatural Hotspot For Centuries" Park. He is... to put it mildly, genetically? A freak. His biology is ALL fucked up. Everyone's is. And it WAS NOT made better by the Fenton's playing fast and loose with their hell basement. The Ectoplasmic NUKE that was that portal.
There is a REASON his morning coffee? Is COVERED. Contained. Fenton brand, LEAD LINED, specialty cups. The sort that can't be EATEN from the inside out. Eroded after a few uses. They're ugly as sin, but they work. He even ordered a few covers from Star's etsy shop. (Apparently he wasn't the only one who hated how ugly they looked. Good for her though, he heard it was doing well.)
He SAYS this? 'Cause his morning brew is less... straight COFFEE... and more... how to put this? A blend? Brew? Potion, really. Like an energy drink. From hell. Or, partially at least, the Zone. It's the combination of roots, seeds, and a few dried berries. Kinda like a tea, actually!
Tasty. Adds this nice fruity, warmth. A zing. Goes GREAT with the coffee. And it really perks you up... if you are Limnal. If you AREN'T? It'll desolve your esophagus like swallowing straight acid. And that's not TOUCHING the... witch-y, more Seer specific bit of the blend.
That stuff is medicinal. You know, "calm the mind" and "mental clarity". That sorta thing. With a good ol helping of "don't blurt out everyone's secrets, you spacey bitch! For the love of God, those are our INSIDE THOUGHTS!". Which? Really helpful! Infinitely less likely to get decked. It's a family staple.
Poisonous, though.
They're fine cause they've basically developed an immunity to that part, but like? Wouldn't recommend. It's why he NEVER shares his drinks. Food? On occasion. If he PLANS it and knows not to add and interesting spices. But DRINKS? Never. Weston family brews are basically NEVER safe.
Which? Begs the Very Important Question ™!
Who's Coffee Is This?
Cause it SURE AS FUCK AINT HIS!
You never realize quite how fast you can go from "completely calm and kinda sleepy" to "bomb strapped to my chest, primal panic AWAKE" until it happens to you. His coffee was ON HIS DESK. People have passed by. He talked to them. Cups put down and picked up. Lazy early morning. He doesn't even register, really, as his chair crashes to the ground.
He's shouting.
People confused. They don't realize yet. His head whips around, looking for that distinct cover. Before it's too late. Before someone takes that fatal sip. He spots it. Bolting from his desk. Crashing through coworkers, over desks. Chaos and outrage. "It's 'just' coffee!" They cry.
Kent turns, confused. Pretending. Raises his (HIS! Oh god!) cup to his lips, unknowing. Wes SCREAMS a warning. But he doesn't listen. "It's 'just' coffee" They never listen. Curse of Cassandra. God's damn it. This is why his family fucking CONVERTED!
He TACKLES the man of steel.
RIPS his cup away from him, knows his eyes are frantic. How much have you had?! Spit it out! Wes voice ECHOES in the sudden silence. I'm a META, Kent! It could KILL YOU!
And oh, Oh NOW they get it. Or perhaps it is the burn in his mouth that finally registers. He rolls, spits oil slick nebulae that eat away the floor. There is blood mixed within it. It took mere moments. Superman stares, transfixed and horrified, as Wes shakes. He... he should probably get off of him.
He'll move in a moment.
When his legs no longer feel weak from terror.
The news room is in chaos. Lane kneeling by her husband, Perry trying to do damage control. He... he's probably gonna lose his job, isn't he? Wes wants to cry. Protection laws only go so far, after all. And warning his boss about his dietary needs means jack shit, after an incident like this. Beloved as Kent is. Not that anyone likely believed him.
They never do.
And now he's nearly killed Superman.
