The Island Prince Prologue: Here on my Island
In the deepest part of the world, there resides an Island. But the map never shows its location, only a lucky few can find the island, let alone sail to it. But one day, the island met their first ever human after a horrendous stormy night.
🏝️
"Oh, dear," sighed a peacock named Vil, "that was horrible. That storm almost took away all my feathers."
"Must you complain," yawned Leona, a very tired lion. "You already woke me up to warn me about the storm and now you complain after it's over?"
"Well, you shouldn't be with me if you can't handle my complaining," Vil huffed, shaking his feathers a little, "and you don't look any better. Your mane is messy."
"As if I care, Princess." Leona growled, walking towards the beach. "And my hair is always messy, so it's not a problem."
He wasn't fazed by the broken wooden planks that surrounded the area, and the unusual items that humans used. He wasn't even surprised when Vil went over to find a treasure chest of sorts, full of jewelry that he wore immediately, admiring himself at the ocean's reflection.
What he didn't expect was to hear soft breathing behind a big wooden pole. Leona, against his better judgment, walked over following the sound and to his surprise, a young human who seemed asleep. Peacefully asleep.
"A human?" He questioned, walking towards the human. "…and he's alive. What a miracle."
"Yes, miracle." Vil repeated, without looking up.
"Vil, come over here," Leona demanded.
Vil rolled his eyes and walked towards Leona and he couldn't hide his shock of seeing the human boy.
"Is that.."
"A human? Yes. And he's perfectly alive too." Leona answered.
"What should we do?" Vil pondered. "We can't take care of a human, now could we?"
"Unless we find any other humans," Leona snarled, but he looked back at the sleeping boy, "but we can't leave him to starve and die. We need to help him, even if it means we have to step up."
"You are right," Vil sighed. "My conscious would not allow me! Oh, poor child."
Leona rolled his eyes and carefully put the kid on his back, ignoring the snuggling as he walked away.
🏝️
10 years have passed since then and the young boy has grown into Sil. After his awakening, he had no memories of his past, nor his name, a hint was the chest he was found with, with Sil engraved. That was his name as he grew in his new forest habitat. He was already adjusted as he could speak into the animals quite easily.
He was able to live in his new life. With a new family.
"Epel! Come on! They're waiting for us!" Sil called out.
"Hey! You're bigger than me," Epel, a red panda, pouted, "You're faster than me."
Sil laughed as he slowed down, humming to himself.
🏝️
Here on my island, the sea says hello
Dolphins are waving wherever I go
🏝️
Sil grinned and waved back at the dolphins who jumped happily at his arrival. He was well-loved around the island, as each animal, whether land or sea.
🏝️
There's a song on the breeze
And a home in the trees
Friends I can talk with whenever I please
🏝️
"Come on! Vil's waiting for us!" Sil laughed as he ran into the oasis, watching Rook, a Black-Backed Gull, bother Leona.
🏝️
Here on my island, the playgrounds are great
Slide every slide
And you don't have to wait
There's so much to be seen
From our new trampoline
Finding adventure is our daily routine
🏝️
"I heard about a hidden jewel, deep on this island," Rook spoke, deciding on the adventure.
"Maybe, but I wanna eat first," Epel groaned, rubbing his stomach, "can we do that before we go?"
"Oh, yes, please," yawned Leona, "before I decide to leave you here to find my food."
"Always crude," groaned Vi.
🏝️
Birds and bananas
And comfy cabanas
And shell-covered vases to fill
Coconut glasses
And mint with molasses
And pineapple patties to grill
🏝️
Vil grinned proudly as everyone ate the patties happily, all complimenting the food. After that, everyone was ready for the adventure of the day, Rook leading the way.
🏝️
Here on my island, there's nothing but fun
Vines you can swing from
A nap in the sun
There are mud pies to make
There are branches to shake
Treasures await any road that you take
🏝️
"Ready!!" Cheered Epel, "Me and Sil are going to find that jewel."
"Oh, that's a challange if I heard one," laughed Vil, "Leona and I are verterans at this work. Best to prepare for defeat, Epel."
"Guys, this is not a competition, but I should wait until we win for you to decide," Sil grinned.
🏝️
I'll take the high path
And I'll take the low path
And I'll take the path through the sky
I'll jump the river
And I'll climb the mountain
And I'll stay here, guarding the pie
🏝️
"Told you," Vil laughed as he held the jewel in his feathers, ignoring Epel's pouting. "Added to my beautiful collection of well, beautiful things. Too bad I can't add myself to it."
"Ugh, you are such a showoff," Epel pouted.
"He did warn you," Leona yawned, "we did this for a living. Of course, we know how to find them."
"That was fun though," Sil laughed and picked up Epel, "we did went even deeper than we would've thought. I consider that a win than a dumb jewel, no offense, Vil."
"None taken."
Sil grinned and quickly ran off the cliff and onto the pond below, startling Epel. The others joined, reluctantly and/or happily, diving into the pond along with them, laughing to themselves.
🏝️
Here on our island, the days are a dream
Hanging together, we work as a team
And the magic extends
Through our family of friends
Here on our island, the fun never ends
🏝️
The night slowly formed as the moon and stars arrived. Everyone was ready to sleep to have a great day tomorrow. Sil was already passed out with everyone else, happy. But a shake startled everyone and awakened everyone, almost knocking everyone down.
It was Epel, who was sleep-running. Not a new occurrence, but it was a very bad occurrence, considering the tree branches he landed on shook once he landed. It was a nightmare, Sil concluded as he carefully grabbed the sleeping creature.
"Epel," Sil whispered, "hey, it's a nightmare, you're ok."
Epel flinched as he woke up, panting to himself. He looked up and cuddled against Sil, now sad.
"Oh dear, another nightmare?" questioned Rook.
"Interrupting my beauty sleep," groaned Vil, "..I wish i could be lazy as Leona. That lion didn't even woke up."
Sil sighed and got up. "I'll take him on a walk. It won't be a moment."
Sil got down and started to walk away, petting Epel.
"I'm sorry," muttered Epel, "I hate having these nightmares about them…"
"Oh, don't worry, I understand," Sil smiled, "I still have nightmares about the ocean at times as well. It's a normal thing, Epel. You don't need to be ashamed about then."
"…can you sing that lullaby again?'
"Of course," Sil grinned, letting Epel get on his shoulders.
🏝️
Sun goes down, and we are here together
Fireflies glow like a thousand charms
Stay with me, and you can dream forever
Right here in my arms
🏝️
"Where did you learn that song again?" Epel asked.
"I don't know," Sil shrugged, "I've always just known it…but I hear someone sing it in my dreams often. Maybe that's how."
🏝️
It's magic when you are here beside me
Close your eyes, and let me hold you tight
Everything that I could ever need is
Right here in my arms tonight
🏝️
"Sing me the other part too?" Epel asked sheepishly, "I like it.."
"Okay," Sil laughed, "but you know I don't remember all the words. But always for you."
🏝️
La la la
La la la
Stars begin to climb
La la la
La la la
La la la la la
La la la la la
🏝️
Sil grinned happily as he heard Epel snore on his head.
"Good night, Epel." Sil grinned and walked back to the three and rested Epel in his makeshift nest, petting him.
In the distance, Sil saw something big that swayed side and side on the waters. He just managed to make it, but he didn't know what the mysterious figure was. But he wanted to rest his head and close his eyes, dealing with it in the morning.
But that was a bad idea, as he witnessed a nightmare he had for years ever since his rescue. He found himself sinking in the waters below, finding it hard to breathe as he tried to surface every moment, a ship in the distance, a light being his only source to see. He also heard a voice, calling out to him, but it was muffled, unable for Sil to understand.
It caused him to wake as the daylight hit his face.
"Wha…"
"Another boat?" yawned Leona.
"What?" Sil questioned and got down to Leona to see. "A boat…I saw that last night. I couldn't recognize it, it was so far."
"I wonder why it's here." Vil scoffed.
"Maybe we should look?" Epel gasped, running towards the boat.
"Epel! Wait!" Sil gasped and ran after him.
🏝️
The boat was at the shore, with four people now leaving footprints on the sand. Each person was different and each had an odd reaction to being on the unknown island.
The first one was Prince Ruggie, who was unsurprised. He was a prince of a small island so being on one wasn't much of a surprise, so he knew how to navigate around the island and was marked as the guide in the expedition.
The second was Ruggie's betrothed fiance, Prince Riddle Rosehearts, who was the only one who was unfamiliar with the area. But he was convinced by his mother to go to bond with Ruggie as they were to marry by the end of the month. Riddle wanted to object but couldn't at the hands of his mother being his mother.
The third was Prince Malleus, a young prince who was known for wanting to adventure. It was uncommon when King Lilia, the fourth visitor, invited him. They were close when Malleus was a young dragon and they continue that bond. Malleus was the one who recommended traveling in the first place, as a bonding experience.
But he knew why he did it. King Lilia was the only adult on the expedition and tried to be chipper despite a tragedy in which date was nearby, and was trying to hide his uncomfortability with a smile every time he was asked if he was ok. Malleus knew this and made sure that Lilia was even ready for being on a boat. Lilia managed himself, which helped Malleus calm down.
So these four looked at the island in front and Malleus was the lead, with Lilia following.
🏝️
Nothing beats a brand-new shore
Streaming into view
After weeks of the waves
The thrill of somewhere new
All the riches of the world
Can't compare to these
Golden sand and silver clouds
The fragrant island breeze
🏝️
"And he;s off," Lilia laughed, "Ah, Malleus. Even now you wonder off."
"And I'm worried it was habit of his," Ruggie muttered to himself, watching Lilia following Malleus deep into the woods.
"Should we follow them?" Riddle pondered.
"Yeah, just in case he does get lost. I don't think he can survive this island," Ruggie laughed and walked forward.
🏝️
What will I discover next, it's all a mystery
Different every day
There's so much to do and learn and touch and hear and see
Just a step away
🏝️
Sil looked at them from within the bush, now curious. He walked closer to them to get a better look at the new people, but the animals did not have the same response, now annoyed, worried, and beyond afraid.
🏝️
It has no trunk
It has no tail
It's not a fish
It's not a whale
It has no feathers, I can see
I have to say, it looks like me!
It must be bad
It can't be good
Let's run and hide
I think we should
Just close your eyes, it goes away
This doesn't happen every day!
🏝️
Sil immediately went towards the strangers for a much closer look, even the trees didn't carry him carefully. But he managed to see who and remembered the features.
🏝️
Feeling the excitement grow
Every single stride
Sun above and earth below… whoa!
🏝️
Sil gasped as the humans fell down a massive ditch and he rushed down, knowing what awaiting them below.
At the bottom, Ruggie groaned, looking at the swamp-like area. "Well, I had worse pitfalls in my life. Being covered in dirt and almost in mud is not that bad."
Riddle quickly helped Ruggie up, "My bad, I wasn't looking where I was going,"
"Ah, happens to the best of us, I'm sure," Lilia chuckled, stretching his back, "That's part of the experience of traveling, I'd say."
Malleus looks around, now walking around.
"But I saw something in the trees," Riddle admitted, "like…a someone. Not an animal, per say, but…a person?"
"But this place has been abandoned for years," Malleus spoke up, "no humans have been on this island. If this place wasn't discovered, why is there a human here?"
"I know what I saw, Draconia," Riddle scoffed.
"Hmm, understandable, Riddle,"
A snarl was heard, which made Ruggie's ears twitch at the vibration. His eyes scanned the forest area, and three pairs of eyes glared at them from the darkness, more snarls were heard as their eyes went closer. Ruggie, now with everyone else, watched and backed up from the newly found crocodiles.
"Did we fall into a crocodile pit?" Lilia whispered.
"Oh, what rotten luck," Riddle groaned. "I knew exploring was a bad idea."
"You didn't protest when we entered the boat," Malleus mentioned, "and frankly no one could have planned this, island trips can be unpredictable. Knowing this mysterious island, this was bound to happen."
"I suppose you are right," Riddle took a breath, "sorry about that."
"No worries..but how do we get rid of the crocodiles?"
The one in the middle snapped his jaw, ready to eat the legs in front of them. The rest started snapping, trying to eat anything close to their mouths.
"Excuse me?" Called an unfamiliar voice.
The group watched as an unknown silver-haired boy swung forward onto a rock, looking down at the crocodiles, and crossed his arms.
"Gwendolyn," he lectured the crocodile by Riddle, "is this how we treat guests? Especially ones who entered your home?"
The crocodile, Gwendolyn, growled sadly in response.
"How is he…" Malleus gasped.
"Geo, don't," the stranger lectured again.
A snap made Lilia jump as the crocodile swam away upset.
Ruggie glared at the third one, but he was relentless until the stranger came by and petted the crocodile. This made the crocodile smile and groaned happily.
"Nice to know you still love pets, Georgio,"
Ruggie took a moment to actually look at the stranger. Silver hair that is rare and beautiful purple eyes that were soft towards the cranky crocodile, with a matching smile. He must've been here for years, Ruggie concluded, especially when he didn't have clothes. But it was still early to ask.
The group was stunned as the crocodile backed away and slid back into the murky waters. The stranger smiles and looks over at them, standing up,
"I apologize," he spoke, "they can be hungry when seeing something new. I suppose I did forget to get them some of the mangos I have found."
"No, no," Lilia stammered, "I apperiete that you have saved us from being eaten."
"I only did what I could. I understand how they can be odd to new friends, and don't know how to express themselves."
"That begs the question," Malleus questioned, "who are you?"
🏝️
"Sil? That's your name?" Ruggie asked, looking at the newfound chest they saw in the tree.
"I suppose so," Sil answered with a soft chuckle, "It was the only clue we have about who I am."
"So, you have no memory?" Riddle pondered, "How long have you been here?"
"I haven't been keeping check," Sil sighed, "but for a long time, I'm guessing. Just not knowing about who I am was never something I thought off, but now you guys are here."
"But I feel we are ignoring a big thing about you," Ruggie spoke up, "You…talked to the crocodiles, like it was nothing."
"And you guys don't?"
"I can," Ruggie noted, "cause I am part beast, it's natural, but a mere human like yourself couldn't."
"Hm, that is odd." Malleus hums, "Humans such as you could never have powers like that, unless it's been self-taught."
"Really? I simply woke up with this."
Everyone went silent for a moment, now confused about this mysterious man and his connection to this abandoned island. Lilia took a breath before walking over.
"Well, since you saved us, how about we get acquaintance with your friends?" Lilia asked.
"Yeah, but mind you, they haven't saw a human in years, or they have never seen a human before. So, I apologize if they are a bit defensive."
Sil smiled and walked down the trees to meet up with the group of animals that he called his friends.
"Are you ok?!" Vil immediately questioned, checking Sil for any wounds. "Ugh, you need to stop going off like that. My feathers can't handle all that stress, you know."
"I'm sorry, Vil, but I couldn't let the crocodiles eat them. As far as I'm concerned, they're innocent. And you know how the crocodiles get hungry when we miss their feeding schedules. So," Sil paused, "who forgot?"
"Wasn't it Leona's turn?" Epel pondered and looked at the yawning lion.
"Hmm, was it? I had no idea," Leona yawned, "I was simply taking a nap."
Sil sighed. "We really need to find a way to remind you, Leona."
The others watched in amazement.
"He's…he's having a actual conversation with them," Riddle gasped, "Like…talking to them."
"Yeah, he is," Malleus added, and smiled, "this is such a marvel."
"But what should we do with this?" Lilia asked, "I mean, he's a human who lives among animals, and I do worry for his develpment."
"What's your plan?" Malleus wondered.
"You know what," Ruggie sighed, "Should we take him with us?"
The red panda's ears sprouted up and he rushed over to Ruggie with his angry look, jumping up and down in protest.
"No! No! You can't take him with you, you mean humans!"
"Woah! Epel!" Sil gasped and grabbed him, "It's ok, they're not going to tale me away."
Ruggie's ears twitched, "Hmm, well, I guess that's options over."
"Well," Sil spoke, "I don't mind the suggestions, but I can't leave my friends here. They'll miss me."
"Oh, how true that is," Rook sighed, "We would miss him ever so dearly."
"Then we can take them with us," Lilia recommended, "I mean, the kingdom shouldn't mind it. Especially since I am part of the royal committee, I can convince them."
"Lilia," Malleus sighed, "you always use the committee to get your way."
"Your grandmother always helped me with those votes, and even your young mother, bless her heart." Lilia laughed, "And doesn't the Kingdom of the Sunset Savana have a beautiful scenery for him to stay in?"
"…Yeah, we do. And my grandma' loves new guests."
Sil looks at the animals, "Well, are you guys ok with this? It's a big ask."
"Well, I don't mind," Rook smiles, "I have been all around the world, and teaching you about the sights would be fantastic."
"Well, I'm not leaving you by yourselves!" Vil added, "You guys are reckless and someone as mature as me should come along, and of course, Leona, you have to come too."
"Ugh," groaned Leona, "fine. But I am not doing anything."
"Since when do you do?" Epel muttered before looking up at Sil, "I wanna come too! To protect you, Sil!"
Sil smiles and pets his head, "Thank you, Epel."
"Well, what do you say? Want to come with us?" Lilia offered.
Sil looked back at the ship and nodded. "Yeah, I'm ready."

You introduced me to your friends from medical school after a few weeks of dating. I was nineteen, and me, so fairly sheltered. I had never been out with people drinking before, and everyone was so educated and comfortable swearing. I experienced a fair degree of culture shock, and I think your friends felt the same seeing me.
Afterward, you began asking me to change how I dressed and accessorized myself. You asked me not to wear my novelty earrings anymore (except for the bottles with mustaches inside–you approved of those), including my yellow ducky earrings, and my gummy bear earrings. And I did. I gave them away. You took me to J.Crew in lynchburg, and picked clothes for me, as if I was a doll. I tried, Orville. Damn, I tried. I wore the boring banana republic clothes you loved so well, and even though my own taste and preference were never that strain of tame, I wanted you to be happy. And you were both happy and approving when I dressed the part you preferred. You said I looked good, “when I made an effort.” The way I just am at baseline did not qualify.
Remember our engagement pictures? We took them twice. You insisted we do it again because “I didn’t look in love with you enough” during the first batch. You also didn’t approve of my outfit. You told me you wanted me to look like an Abercrombie and fitch model. I had never been in one of those stores (still haven’t tbh–they smell SO STRONGLY that I cannot bear to cross the threshold, I simply cannot do it), but I knew what I had selected was not what you wanted. So we took pictures again. You insisted on pictures of us kissing even though you knew I didn’t like it. I obliged. We each planned an outfit change for the engagement pictures, and you were undeniably chagrinned that my new outfit was my favorite Spiderman shirt. You made such a stink about it that I never wore it again, and eventually gave it away. Wearing what I liked wasn’t worth your annoyance with me. You told me you were embarrassed because it made me seem so young.
Orville. I _was_ young. My clothes made me seem…myself. And that was a problem for you. Only recently have you begun saying otherwise, but your actions spoke loud and clear for a third of my life, and I heard you and I remember.
Remember when we took the kids to the Great Wolf Lodge for Mother’s Day, 2022? I drove us there, I booked the hotel, I packed the bags, and I planned the trip. Ha. My mothers day present from me. But you considered it sufficient acknowledgment of the day. You didn’t get me anything. I think maybe you said happy Mother’s Day once in the morning. This was my first foray into the public in a swimsuit since our baby’s birth, and I felt particularly self conscious for my pale skin that I knew you wished was tan, and for my soft body that I knew you preferred smaller. While inside the park, a particularly beautiful human walked past us in a bikini. I did a double take because I legit thought for a second that it might be Gal Gadot. But life moved on, and I didn’t think anything of it, until you brought it up. We had just climbed set up the family on an outdoor cabana, and lunchtime was nearing. Both kids were becoming increasingly irritable, and I was holding our baby on my lap while rummaging for snacks to offer Marlowe before lunch. This was the moment you chose, Ben. This is when you said, “there was this reeeeeeeeeally hot woman here in a tiny bikini…one of those string ones where it’s like they want you to look at her ass…she was super hot.”
It was at this moment that the baby urinated through her swim diaper onto my leg. I felt numb. Felt the warm liquid beginning to turn cold before I said, “it’s mothers day. Can you just…not? Take the baby, I am going to go get some lunch.” I walked away, smelling like pee, and realized too late that all I had was my cellphone. No room key, no car keys. So I walked to the front of the hotel, ordered door dash, and while I waited for the food to arrive, I hid behind a pillar and cried my heart out. It was 107 degrees that day, and multiple incoming and outgoing families definitely heard and saw me, but there was no place for me to hurt alone, so I waited for the chicken nuggets while I cried. When I returned, you half assed an apology, saying “maybe my timing could have been better,” and offered to “take the kids” so I could rest. So I guess I was wrong. You did get me a present for Mother’s Day. And the present you gave me was “rest.”
Damn. That was a low bar.

Welcome to Shakes Malt Shoppe at Cabana Bay Beach Resort
Now that the transformation is complete, guests at Universal Orlando Resort Hotels are able to take in the beauty- and delicious offerings- of Shakes Malt Shoppe at Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort, a brand-new ice cream and breakfast spot. Shakes is quickly becoming a guest favorite and, after tasking my way around the menu, I can see why.
Transforming the Space
Right by Bayliner Diner at Cabana Bay's main building, Shakes is full of thoughtful details that make it a truly authentic experience.
Charles Zeller, Assistant of Food and Beverage for Cabana Bay Beach Resort, says that they knew they wanted something special to add to the resort and were inspired by the nostalgia of an era when families spent time together at soda counters and malt shops.
Everything from pastel color palette to the roller skate artwork and counter seating - even the team member uniforms- harkens back to the 1950's soda counter and fits perfectly with the theming of the resort. No matter what time of day you choose to stop by, you'll feel like you have traveled back in time.
Roll through for a quick breakfast
For those of you who are early risers (i.e.- not me), Shakes Malt Shoppe is a great stop for a quick breakfast to fuel your day before the theme parks without taking a lot of time out of your morning.
Zeller says they knew from the start they wanted this to be more than just a place to get ice cream: "We wanted those families looking for something to eat before heading out to the theme parks to be able to grab a smoothie or a breakfast sandwich or pastry." Among my favorites are the Acai Bowl, a great theme-park-day fuel, and the Bacon, Egg & cheese Croissant, hot, flaky and delicious (those of you with eagle eyes may recognize this sandwich from next door at the Bayliner Diner, but this one is packed up nicely for you to grab-and-go).
The smoothies, on the other hand, are made-to-order by the shakes staff. The Banana Strawberry Smoothie is made from non-fat vanilla yogurt and fresh strawberries and bananas and is refreshing and a little tart. With no added sugar, it doesn't have that overwhelmingly sweet flavor that a lot of smoothies tend to have, which means you don't have to worry about your kids bouncing off the walls first thing in the morning.
Drink it up
Shakes is your place to satisfy your sweet tooth, any time of day. As you might expect, you can get a wide variety of milkshakes here. The menu offers three options: Classic, PB&J and Chocolate Peanut Butter & Banana, but you can make a shake from any ice cream flavor and toppings you want, and any shake can be made into a malt, by blending in malted milk powder (think the inside of a malted milk ball candy) for a true old school malt shop experience.
I opted to try a shake made with Salty Caramel Truffle ice cream, which was rich and decadent. The subtle salt enhances the caramel and truffle flavors, for a really unique shake- or scoop if you prefer to keep it simple.
The Vanilla shake is anything but plain. I had them blend rainbow sprinkles in for a fun, vibrant take on a classic. Although the sprinkles were more of a whimsical choice, you can also mix in any of the other toppings. These will rotate, depending on seasonal offerings, but include things like different candies and candy bars, cookies and sprinkles.
Shakes Manager Chris Rentas said that is important to have a varied menu for guests and that a balance between classics and unique flavors are something they put a lot of thought into during the planning process. " We try to vie something the guests are going to like, to see something they'll remember or even something a little newer, like the Oatmazing, " he says (More on that flavor later!)
Treats for the grown-ups
They also offer alcoholic milkshakes, for those of you who like a little extra zip in your dessert. The Chocolate Peanut Butter is made with chocolate peanut butter ice cream, peanut butter whiskey and topped with whipped cream. I need to tell you that I am a huge chocolate peanut butter fan this shake takes a perfect combination and take it up a notch with the peanut butter whiskey.
The Creamsicle, featuring orange blossom ice cream, orange vodka, and topped with whipped cream and a candied orange, is also amazing. I love a good garnish and I won't deny taking a satisfying bite out of the candied orange in between sips.
Scoops and cones and sundaes, oh my!
Shakes features some amazing ice cream treats that aren't milkshakes, too. In fact, my favorite menu item is the Banana Split. While this might sound a like a pretty standard sundae, Shakes has given it it's own twist, including banana pudding ice cream where the vanilla would ordinarily be. I don't think it is a coincidence that Zeller said this sundae is the first menu item they came up with and they knew they wanted to include the banana pudding ice cream to make it unique. I wouldn't have thought such a small change would make that big of a difference, but it is a show-stopper. The banana pudding ice cream perfectly captures the experience of eating homemade banana pudding, from the real, fresh banana flavor to the inclusion of wafter cookie pieces- it is the kind of dessert that visits you in your dreams.
Pro Tip: You too can make your own twist and customize the flavors that go on your banana split!
For those of you with dietary restrictions, Shakes has a few options. For those who need gluten free choices, the scoops can be served in a cup. There is also an excellent vegan ice cream option in the Chocolate Chip Oatmazing. This is made with oat milk, and has delicious vegan chocolate pieces that add a little crunch, which is really satisfying.
In addition to the current offerings, Rentas said that he hopes to bring in a variety of seasonal flavors on a limited basis, especially around different holidays, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled and taste buds ready for even more choices in the future.
What Shakes item are you most excited to try? Let us know on social or in the comments below!
Must be 21 years and older with a valid identification to purchase or drink alcoholic beverages. Drink responsibly.

Cool For The Summer
*Festivaled Away: Hot Boy Summer hosted by @bangtanbathhouse
-ticket: traveling//vacation
-main event: bubblegum (hot girl summer)
-games: food play
𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: pool boy!Taehyung x reader
𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐫𝐞: smut, pwp
𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: r (18+)
𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: swearing, kissing, masturbating, oral (giving and receiving), pet names, dirty talk, throat grabbing, food play, clit stimulation, cursing, poo/outdoor sex, standing sex

𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: You are determined to enjoy your summer, and Taehyung wants to help.
𝐀𝐍: a massive thank you to @sugakookitty, @playmetheclassics and @baljinciaga for looking over this for me and dealing with my shite grammar.
Cool for the summer. That’s what’s on your mind as you lounge around at the pool. You’ve worked hard, getting high marks on your exams and having a perfect attendance record at your internship. You deserve to have this vacation in the Hamptons, spending your summer in the affluent seaside communities of New York City.
You aren’t rich by any means; you lucked up finding this house thanks to your mom’s client. The house would be empty for a few months, and they needed someone to take care of the pets while they were gone. You figured you could enjoy yourself while you’re here. The plus side? The house came with a hot pool boy named Taehyung.
Your flight came in late, and you wanted to go for a swim. You didn’t feel like changing into your bikini, so you decided to go in naked. You felt free swimming in the cool water, washing away the jet lag you felt from traveling over a thousand miles across the country from your university. You weren’t expecting to find an attractive guy standing at the edge of the pool with a towel in hand. “Who are you??” you question, hiding your breasts with your hands. “What’s up? I’m the pool boy,” he hands you a towel. “Taehyung.” To say you are embarrassed is an understatement. You quickly thank him for the towel and run into the house, your ass exposed as it wasn’t big enough to cover you. However, a small smile forms on your face at the thought of someone so hot seeing you naked.
You thought about Taehyung every night after that, pleasuring yourself to the thought of him fucking you on the chaise lounge chair outside for everyone to see. You’d watch him enter and leave the cabana, longing for him to be inside of you instead.
Today you decide to go for a swim—with clothes this time. “Hi there,” Taehyung approaches you, drink in hand. “It’s about time you finally came out.” You thank him, taking the drink and a sip after. It tastes sweet like strawberries and banana bubblegum blended to perfection, great for combating the summer heat. “I’ve been busy,” you state. “Now I finally have some time to relax.” “Ah, ok. I thought you were avoiding me because I saw you naked.” You want to facepalm yourself. Even though it's a blooming hell of an introduction, you would’ve chosen to announce yourself differently.
Taehyung rakes his fingers through his luscious black hair. You take the opportunity to examine his facial features. His clear-tanned skin seems to glow as bright as his smile and his intense stare penetrates your skin like the sun’s piercing ray. However, his orbs still hold a hint of gentleness deep within their brown irises. He’s sporting a black shirt and swim shorts, his physique outlined perfectly enough that your mind starts racing about you being underneath him.
“I promise I wasn’t doing that,” you smile behind your white lie. “I’m going to finally get in the water. Thanks for the drink.” You set it down on the table and make your way towards the pool entrance. “Maybe you should join me.”
Feeling bold, you tap your feet playfully first before completely submerging yourself in the cool water. You allow yourself to get adjusted before going under, your body and water becoming one as you swim around the deep pool.
As you go under, you can feel his eyes on you, and you don’t bother to hide your smirk. When you emerge and see Taehyung entering the water shirtless, your ego is more stroked. You got him right where you want him: hooked, lined, and sinker. “What are you doing?” You feign ignorance. He swims until he is close to you. “Joining you, like you suggested.” You lean back against the pool's ledge as he stops in front of you. His hands find your waist, moving you closer to him until your body is pressed against his.
“Don’t be shy now,” he whispers. “I’m not shy,” you say hotly. “Prove it.” You kiss him, your carnal lust taking over as your body gives into him. He obliges, undoing your bikini top until your breasts are free, massaging your nipples as your tongues swirl in each other’s mouths. You play at the hem of his swim shorts, pulling them down with some effort until you feel his length pop out free underwater. Your eyes widen at how big he is, and arousal pools in your center at the thought of him inside of you. “You’re eager,” he chuckles. “You must really want some dick.” He lifts your leg up, adjusting your bikini bottoms to the side before he enters your heat. You both moan in unison. The satisfaction of having each other in this position proves to be much better than you anticipated. “You know I heard you up there,” he kisses you and fucks you slowly. “I know you were thinking of me while playing with your tight pussy.” You don’t bother trying to deny it; your finger is settled nicely on your clit, and you don’t care about anything but being dicked down by him. Taehyung deepens his kiss. He thrusts into you deeper, and your body fully awakens as your walls clench around him. “Yeah,” he grunts. “Be a good girl and keep moaning my name like that.” Your nails dig into the back of his neck. You scream his name and turn into a whimpering mess as you reach your climax.
“Coming already?” His voice is dark, and he increases his pace. “We are just getting started.” Taehyung pulls out of you slowly, leading you out of the pool and laying you on the lounging chair. He grabs the drink you left and pours it slowly over your breasts, giving you chills as the juice travels down your stomach. His tongue swirls around your nipples, jolts of electricity and pleasure spreading throughout your body. Your bottoms are pulled off, with Taehyung leaving soft kisses against your thighs before ravishing your sweet core.
“What a pretty sight,” he hummed against your pussy.
Your mind goes blank as pleasure overtakes your body, you grip on his hair as the coil snaps in your stomach. He sucks the juices out of you, his lips smacking loudly like you were the best thing he ever tasted. “God, you’re going to suck me dry,” you moan.
Your legs shake and you collapse on the chair. Taehyung rises up slowly, his hand stroking his large cock. Precum drips from it slowly like honey, looking delectable and making you want a taste. Despite being ripe with sensitivity, you still want him, specifically his cock in your mouth. “Can I taste it?” You lick your lips. “Of course, sweetheart.” You open your mouth wide, your tongue sticking out as he slides in a long stroke. Your reflexes are strong, allowing him to fuck your throat roughly. You two make eye contact, and he bites his lip, singing sweet praises while your hand travels down to your core. Still sensitive, you rub yourself softly, jolts of electricity pulsing through your legs. “Fuck,” his breath is shaky. “Can't wait to blow my load and fill this pretty little mouth of yours.”
His hand sneaks towards your throat, his thrusts faster and rougher. Saliva spreads around his thick shaft, your mouth full of him as he pulls closer to release. “Gonna fucking fill your mouth with my cum,” he grits his teeth. Taehyung pulls out, stroking himself until white drops spurt on your tongue and cover your face. He slides into your mouth one last time, his load filling your mouth quickly as you swallow him. He tastes sweet, like the drink you had earlier. You keep bopping your head until he pulls out, lifting up your face and leaving a kiss. “I’m going to have fun with you all summer.”

Finally, food in the new giant trays! It's from BioactiveFX, and yeah, I'm expecting a giant mess made of it by the crabs. 😂 There are far too many things for me to list, but there's a handful of foods from Just 2 Old Crabs, a few from Coenobita Creations, a couple swag bag things, and some things from BioactiveFX. Oh, and Cabana Banana from Mary's shop, EarthWaterFire.
And a new enrichment attempt! The cookies are from Mary & were the perfect thickness to fit in the toy. There was already a crab checking the toy out! Though I'm wondering if they thought it might be a potential shell - they rotated it around a couple times, then climbed over it. 😂
They're over at the food dish now, digging into the nut & seed mix.

Day 1 (of 2) at Sea - Wednesday, September 12, 2018
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2018
View from our Navigator Verandah!
We awoke around 8am after both finally having a strong night’s sleep. (Thank you Dramamine!) Our only choice for breakfast after 9am was Cabanas. Interestingly I wrote myself a note here to “warn” future cruisers about this. As you read in a previous post, Cabanas, especially on the smaller ships is not made to accommodate all the guests. As can be expected on Days at Sea guests sleep later and take a more casual start to the day. (Thus, I was surprised at the limited later offerings.)
Anyway, as Kara and I both spent our fair share of time pursuing college degrees and now both work in higher education, we are quick learners. Thus, it was the strategy of “divide & conquer”. We first went looking for a rare table to snag so we’d actually have somewhere close to sit and eat! Welcome to the vacation “Aggressive Kara” to snatched a two-top right out from under an older Asian lady and little girl. Vicious! One of us held the table while the other got food in an orchestrated tag-team effort.
As each day of a cruise passes, we get more relaxed (read: lazy). Thus, neither of us brought our phones (cameras) to breakfast. So you’ll have to imagine the eggs Benedict, fruit, Mickey waffles (covered in strawberries & whipped cream!), banana bread and more!
At 10:30am Kara went to the cooking demonstration of the Wild Mushroom Risotto she had the night before in Palo, while I lounged in the stateroom reading. I placed the first order of my traditional Big Island Cookies from Room Service. However, the service was running late. (We’ve long-believed new servers first begin their training in Room Service.) The cookies were delivered while we were out. So upon return, I was shocked/stunned/massively disappointed that they were notably smaller, definitely not Big Island! (This is going to require “a letter” to DCL.) Kara blames me for packing so many home in the past, requiring them to cut back for product loss reasons! FYI I only packed a few home, but didn’t even bother freezing them. I just ate them the weekend we returned, as they weren’t worth saving for later. So sad!
At 11:30am we met for to watch Avengers: Infinity War (again) in the on-board Buena Vista movie theatre. (Yes, I know I’d just seen it on the plane, but seeing it again in the theatre, a Disney theatre!, is a different experience! Note: The theatre is usually a little cool, so bring a jacket! This time I was cold enough I almost went back to the room for a blankie!)
Immediately after the movie we headed down to Crown & Fin for the 2pm presentation of “Innovations: Theme Parks”. These are kind of a mix of seminar & documentary. However, this space was too cold and the presentation too slow, so we headed back to room. (The Navigator Verandah has a compass, barometer, and thermometer in it. This was showing only about 58 degrees, which slowly got to 70 in sun. So of course, I was “freezing”!)
The afternoon was spent lounging, reading and a slight nap before I got motivated to go to the 4pm Pilates in the Fitness Center. While I did this, Kara was on a nearby treadmill. The Pilates “class” had about 6 of us in the middle of the fitness area, which overlooks the front of the ship. Thus, it has incredible views! The class was tougher than I expected in some ways, and a bit easy in other ways. I almost wished I’d stayed on a treadmill next to Kara, as they are my favorite machines. They allow you to set the type of workout, give you a view of a track, mountains, etc., watch entertainment from your mobile device or choose from the onboard TV stations. (Of course this was the time Iron Man 2 - a real fave - was on the Marvel channel and I had to miss it!) FYI the Fitness Center offers machines, free weights, mats, and much more along with ice water, fruit, & towels. Nice!
After our minor “workout” we grabbed a late lunch at the Deck 9 pool quick service of chicken strips, fries, and treats from Cove Cafe.
I don’t know what is in the Chicken Strip breading, but I adore it. Luckily they accommodate the Midwestern need for BBQ sauce as well! This was the first time we’d experience rice krispie treats in Cove Cafe, so that was noted!
It was then time for quick showers while watching end of Avengers: Age of Ultron (YAY!) and all of The Little Mermaid. This all works out, as you have to plug the hairdryers in at the desk area right next to the TV.
Tonight we skipped the main stage show, as it was a guest performer. This is a typical offering of a magic, illusion, ventriloquist, and other entertainment like Stomp, etc. that we just don’t tend to love. So we took our leisurely time noting some features for you - our followers, like the “hand” on the elevator and the detailed directories at every elevator.
You aren’t getting lost with this!
We strolled through the Deck 3 shop again for me to finally buy a new bedazzled DCL top! This was on our way to the 7:30pm 80s music trivia in Crown & Fin. It was a great place to enjoy a drink, some chips, a game of chess, and the trivia. #multitasking!
Then it was off to our 8:15pm Pirate Dinner in Animator’s Palate. Today was Pirate Day/Night around the ship with pirate-themed activities, dinner, and special evening offerings. Sadly I didn’t snap a photo of my Pirate Day shirt. I only ever wear it on this day on the ship, as it’s a pink T with magenta sequins outlining the DCL wave logo and a skull & crossbones in silver sequins! :D They encourage Pirate attire, so plan accordingly!
The lighting is themed fairly dark in the restaurant to give a more pirate-y feel and to view the monitors, so apologies for the photos below.
Tonight’s dinner started with appetizers of Shrimp Cocktail for Kara...
...and the Rock Crab Cake for me.
Kara and I ordered the same entree of the “Treasure of the Seas” highlighted with shrimp & scallops.
As a bonus, they also brought us a plate of the Marinated Caribbean Grouper Filet.
For dessert there was only one option for me: “Bananas in Paradise” - banana bread with hazelnut filling served with a banana spice puree.
While Kara had her usual.
If memory serves, we were not enamored with this meal. At least for me, it was pretty underwhelming to disappointing. I don’t know what it is about Animator’s. It’s an incredible “show” restaurant, but we don’t tend to like any of the menu options it offers. Very strange.
Dinner ended with the traditional Pirate Parade around the restaurant.
This cruise I was determined to live in the moment and embrace the evening entertainment of the Pirates IN the Caribbean Deck Party & Show followed by the fireworks at sea. (Disney is the only cruise line to offer fireworks at sea!) I’d even learned they changed the evening on-deck dessert reception to a combo of sweet & savory in Cabanas. I was going to do it all!
You can guess where this is heading. We basically did none of this. Knowing how many first-time cruisers were on-board, experience told us the deck party would be a crazy chaos of humanity. The bigger issue was even with my trusty “puffy” jacket the dropping temps and increasing winds would make for a pretty miserably top deck experience for the fireworks. So instead we did what we almost always do and spied a bit of the fireworks from our cozy stateroom.
Instead of the Cabanas reception, we (I) ordered the Cake of the Day (chocolate mousse) and cookies from Room Service while re-watching Dr. Strange. At this point we accept and have come to terms with our introvert-status (& my intolerance of the “cold”). It’s who we are, so this is how we Disney Cruise! (We also understand others do this very differently!)
Thus, it was off to Sleepy Town after midnight.
Next up: Day at Sea - Round Two!

Day 4 Tuesday, October 19, 2021 - Cozumel, Mexico
Making the most of our floating resort with a new spa option!
Like yesterday, we again stayed on the ship. Sound boring? No way! All of our wants and needs are being attended to with no work, chores, or worries! Plus we hadn’t had this experience in over 2 years, so we were going to embrace all we could!
We awoke as is now typical 8-8:30am and Kara declared she wanted breakfast. By 9:30am we were in Cabanas, which due to being a port day and the low guest count was blissfully not busy. Our plan had been to “be good” (read: semi-healthy), but soon the delights called us. I tried a couple of pork, black bean, and Mexican cheese wraps (which I am wishing I had right now)!. They were actually great and I wish they were a regular lunch offering. Inexplicably Disney Cruise Line rarely does Mexican food (but that will change in the upcoming Disney Wish).
Then I had OJ, a banana, & strawberries… but they were just topping, along with whipped cream, for the French Toast! (I promise it’s under there!)
Now needing to walk all that off, we set off for the Midship Detective Agency. Headquartered on Decks 5 & 2, this is a wonderful mystery quest requiring players to gain clues from Magical Art all around the ship. It can be played by 1 person or an entire group. There are usually 3 cases to choose from: one with Classic Disney characters, Puppies from 101 Dalmatians, and Muppets. Currently the Muppet version isn’t available, as it requires going to an area that doesn’t allow for social distancing.
It’s a fun way to get in steps and even teach directional skills! We solved the Puppy case in less than an hour. I highly recommend this activity for every Disney cruiser. (FYI we thought we’d be smart by getting our case on Deck 5, then going to the uppermost clue on Deck 10 and working our way down - admitting how out of shape we were for the stairs. However, Disney got us. We worked our way down to Deck 2 only to be prompted back up to Deck 9 to solve the case. Foiled!)
Next true cruising set-in… with a 2 hr nap! Then it was off to the Senses Spa Rainforest Room at 2pm.
This multi-area “room” has 2 wet saunas, 1 dry sauna, 4 various temperature and scented public “showers”, 8-10 heated tile loungers, and 2 hot tubs on an open air deck.
We spent most of the time with the heated loungers and hot tubs.
Usually you can buy a day or length of cruise pass to visit the Rainforest Room at your leisure. It’s luck of the draw in how busy/full the spaces might be during your visit. However, one of the best changes for COVID restrictions meant a single party of no more than 10 can reserve the Rainforest Room for 1hr and 45 min! No guessing if you might get a lounger or finding a space to enjoy! Again knowing we might never have this option again, like good introverts, we booked this from the terminal just before boarding the ship. (This could only be booked onboard, not in the pre-cruise booking window like most other spa services.)
Returning back to the room, we watched our departure from Mexico on our verandah and got ready for dinner.
It was back to Royal Court for dinner, with of course a different menu.
Kara got a Farmhouse salad and we both got the chilled Shrimp & Lobster appetizer, and Pasta with lobster (not shown!) as the entrée.
For dessert I convinced Kara to get the Strawberry Shortcake, while I got my favored Grand Marinier Soufflé. Sadly, it was not cooked properly tonight and was very much leaning toward runny scrambled eggs - a rarity :( They also celebrated Kara’s birthday.
Afterward we visited the other jewelry store location as Kara continues her search for a piece to commemorate her mom. Then it was off to 90’s Music Trivia, which moved from O’Gill’s Pub to The Tube due to popularity and capacity. It was definitely the largest activity we had witnessed all cruise. Since Kara is a stronger musician than I am, I always presume she will take the clear lead in our duo. Uh, wrong. Very quickly it was obvious I was scribbling in the answers to the majority of the questions.
Finally we headed back to our stateroom, as we change time back & lose an hour tonight. Inexplicably I got a zapping headache, which required “all the drugs” and a start of sleep after midnight.

50 Insanely Awesome Things to Do in Seychelles for a Fantastic Tropical Vacation
Seychelles is a beautiful island nation rich in natural beauty. Everything from white sand beaches to high mountains may be found here. Aside from the breathtaking scenery, Seychelles offers a plethora of engaging activities to keep your trip fun and exciting.
During your time here, you have the option of rock climbing, hiking the difficult trails, exploring the rich flora and wildlife, and much more. So, if you're planning a trip to Seychelles soon, here are some of the greatest things to do in Seychelles for an enjoyable vacation.
Don't worry, not everything will put a dent in your vacation spending. There are a lot of things you can do here without spending any money.
In Seychelles, there are many things to do.
So, before you become confused about what to do here, here is a comprehensive list of all the fantastic activities available. Take a look at these activities and make a list of interesting things to do on the island aside from staying at the best beach resorts in Mahe, Seychelles for your trip.
Explore the Islands as if you were a local.
Walking, cycling, or taking the bus to get around is one of the greatest methods to see Seychelles. This will not only save you money but will also provide you with an insight into the culture that you would not get if you took a taxi or rented a car.
The majority of inhabitants utilize the public bus to get around, which costs 7 Seychellois Rupees regardless of where you want to go. You wind up talking to the locals on the bus ride and hear about their jobs, life in the Seychelles, and much more. Walking and cycling about the islands is another fantastic way to get a feel for the Seychelle’s way of life. You'll be able to take in the scenery that you wouldn't see in a car.
Local Creole Cuisine is a must-try.
One of my favorite things to do in Seychelles as a foodie was to drink at the best bars in Mahe, Seychelles and sample Creole cuisine, and broaden my gastronomic horizons. It was a joy to try such interesting foods because the local cuisine is a blend of European, African, and Asian ingredients.
There's a vast variety of delicacies to taste here, from Carotte Bananas to Indian Samosas. Don't let this opportunity pass you by.
The classic Creole supper, which consists of curry, rice, and veggies, is a popular dish to sample here. This curry can be vegetarian or meat-based, depending on the preferences of the diner. A lunch costs only 30 to 50 Seychellois Rupees (120 to 200 INR). This meal is widely available at any Seychelles takeaway or snack shop.
Aside from that, try Carotte Banana, a local dish made by wrapping a banana in banana leaves and adding honey and vanilla. Then it's let to dry, and the finished result is quite tasty. You'll also find bananas cooked in coconut milk, which you can taste.
Praslin's Hidden Waterfall
Are you someone who enjoys going on adventures and discovering new places to visit? If so, the secret waterfall in Praslin is one of the best spots to see in Seychelles. Yes, there is a lovely waterfall here that isn't included in most guidebooks, and there isn't much information about it on Google either.
No signs are indicating the position of the waterfall here, so you may need to enlist the assistance of a local to locate it. This location is only a few minutes away from the Vallée de Mai UNESCO World Heritage Site and is well worth a visit. Furthermore, because it is not well-known, you will find it to be private and will be able to genuinely enjoy yourself here.
How to Get There: Drive to the Grand Anse Beach from the Vallée de Mai National Park. On the route, you'll come across some waterworks; stop there and begin walking uphill from the entrance. Voila! You'll come across this lovely but secluded waterfall.
Take a swim in the crystal-clear ocean water.
Of course, if you're visiting Seychelles, you should also go diving. Because the water is pure and crystal clear, a great swim along the beaches can be quite refreshing. It is one of the best resort activities in Seychelles you can participate in that is free.
You can easily spend your days swimming and making the most of your visit by doing so. However, keep in mind that due to the strong ocean current, a few beaches are not ideal for swimming. So, be cautious when swimming here, and notify at least one person before going out to swim in the turquoise-colored water.
Beau Vallon where you can find Story Seychelles’ Villas, Anse Forbans, Anse Lazio, Anse Reunion, and more popular bathing beaches can be found here.
At the casino, you can try your luck.
If you have never tried your luck at a casino before, it is one of the most interesting things to do in Seychelles. It was my first time, and it was a lot of joy for me. Yes, if you aren't careful, you could lose a lot of money. However, you do not need to spend a lot of money to enjoy it.
You can try your luck at one of the casino slots here with just 50 Seychellois Rupees. It's also free to enter, so you might as well have a good time here. Just make sure you don't go overboard and lose all of your money.
Here you can try the world-famous Takamaka rum.
If you're a rum connoisseur, you might be interested to know that Seychelles produces a native rum known as Takamaka Rum. You may acquire a bottle of this rum for 180 Seychellois Rupees from local shops and party all night! You can also choose between two flavors: chocolate or coconut. So go out and get a bottle, go to the beach with your friends, and take in everything Seychelles has to offer.
Spend Time on the Islands Observing Endangered Birds
Over 200 bird species call the Seychelles home, the vast majority of which are native to the islands. Thousands of tourists and researchers visit this island nation every year because of its distinct and diverse flora and fauna. So, one of the best (and free) ways to enjoy the Seychelles is to look for endemic birds on the many islands you visit.
A few birds, such as the Seychelles Flycatcher, Magpie Robins, Blue Pigeon, and others, will be easy to spot. To see these birds, all you need is a map and binoculars. Veuve Reserve (La Digue), Fond Ferdinand (Praslin), and Vallée De Mai are a few areas where you may go bird watching (Praslin).
At night, enjoy cycling around the island.
The night I was cycling around La Digue Island with two new acquaintances is one of my favorite memories from my Seychelles trip. The roads were virtually deserted by 10 p.m., and the entire island was silent.
The majority of tourists and locals were either sleeping or relaxing in their rooms or apartments. We were cycling along the shore, watching the beaches pass us by as the moon and stars illuminated the sea. The chilly night breeze was pleasant, and cycling around the island at night was the most tranquil feeling I'd ever had.
Allow yourself to be pampered at a luxurious villa or resort.
Staying in one of the exquisite resorts in Seychelles is one of the best things to do if you're seeking a luxurious stay in Seychelles. You will remember your trip to Seychelles for a long time because there are so many beautiful resorts with heavenly views and incredibly nice rooms.
The Story Seychelles Villas is one of the greatest options available. A wanderlust's dream, the one-of-a-kind Grand Beach Pool Villa. They are located near the beach and feature a canopied king-sized bed, living area, sofa, separate dining room, and a long list of luxury facilities. With a big outdoor pool, deck space, relaxing pavilion, and outdoor rain shower, the private terrace area redefine heaven.
They are completely private and only a stone's throw from the resort's azure ocean. This is our greatest recommendation for a once-in-a-lifetime vacation.
Story Seychelles’ Beach Pool Villas are both lavish and large, combining real Seychellois elegance with the finest in sophisticated modern décor. They provide a haven inside a haven, with a private pool, pool deck, and cabana that all lead directly to Beau Vallon Beach.
The bathroom leads to a second private patio, providing a completely natural bathing experience in the stand-alone bathtub or the indoor and outdoor showers. The bedroom is dominated by a king-size bed under a draped cotton canopy, which is close to a chaise lounge and leisure space, as well as a dining table.
Sunbathe on the Seychelles' Beautiful Beaches
This should go without saying, but if you're visiting Seychelles, you must make use of the island's beaches. And one of the finest ways to do it is to sunbathe alongside the blue shoreline on the white, beautiful beaches here.
You will feel as if you are relaxing in paradise, surrounded by Takamaka trees and brilliant ocean water. Beau Vallon, Anse Lazio, Anse Georgette, and Anse Source d'Argent are some of the nicest beaches for sunbathing. And the best part is that this is an entirely free activity! All you need is a great, secluded beach, a few towels to layout on, sunscreen, a cap, and a pair of sunglasses.
During your stay, take in the breathtaking sunsets every day.
Seychelles has some of the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen, and I'm not kidding. During my two-week stay here, I saw so many beautiful sunsets that I've lost track of how many I saw. But, certainly, I recall those sunsets and the feeling of seeing them as vividly as if it were yesterday.
The entire sky would turn a gorgeous mix of orange, pink, and blue, and you could watch as the huge, red sun was slowly swallowed by the wide ocean. Nothing beats viewing a sunset here, and you'll thank me later when you've seen some of the most stunning sunsets you've ever seen.
Make Amazing Memories with Other Travelers
Yes, you read that correctly. Opening yourself up to meeting new people and experiencing the islands with them is one of the finest ways to enjoy Seychelles. I met several other single travelers in Seychelles on my solo trip and had a great time hanging out with them.
Interact with the locals to have a better understanding of their culture and way of life.
I believe that the best approach to discover a new location is to do it with a local who knows about hidden gems that you would never find on your own. Not only that, but interacting with locals provides you a glimpse into their culture and way of life, as well as allowing you to learn more about the area you're visiting.
So, if you truly want to experience everything the Seychelles has to offer, talk to the people in this area. During my trip to the Seychelles, I met a lot of locals who gave me a lot of interesting stories about their lives, their homes, and everything else. I discovered that many Seychellois people travel to India for shopping because clothing and spices are inexpensive there. That's fascinating, isn't it?
Learn about the world's heaviest seed.
Visiting the UNESCO Heritage Site Vallée de Mai or another reserve, Fond Ferdinand, to learn about the local black parrot and Coco De Mer plant is one of the greatest things to do in Seychelles. Coco de Mer is a rare palm tree that is only found in the Seychelles islands.
The nuts and seeds of this palm tree occasionally washed up on the shores of India and the Maldives, where no one recognized them. As a result, several legends evolved in response to the appearance of this "sea coconut."
When the true Coco De Mer trees were discovered by the French in the Seychelles in the 1700s, Praslin was dubbed the Garden of Eden, as recounted in the Bible. This was thought to be the forbidden fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
All of this is attributable to the Coco De Mer plants' form and production method. Male palm tree nuts are required to pollinate the fruits, which only grow on female trees. The male trees have phallic-shaped fruits, while the female trees have buttock-shaped fruits, and because of these seductive features, many traditions and beliefs have developed over time.
So, if you're interested in learning more about this unusual fruit, a visit to one of these reserves is one of the greatest things to do in Seychelles.
Take a look at the Island-Saving Bird.
Yes, I realize this seems absurd, but it's true. Cousin Island, located in the Seychelles, was once a prominent coconut plantation. The discovery of the endemic Seychelles Warbler on this small island, which had only 26 individuals at the time of discovery, changed everything for this small island.
The BirdLife International organization purchased it in 1968, and the coconut trees were removed to restore the original flora. The island was also designated as a Special Reserve in 1975, allowing ornithologists and bird watchers to study and learn about the Seychelles Warbler.
Seychelles fody, Seychelles magpie-robin, Seychelles sunbird, Seychelles blue pigeon, Malagasy turtle doves, and other species can be found in addition to the Seychelles Warbler. It is simple to schedule a boat journey from Praslin Island to this reserve and tour this beautiful island.
In Seychelles, go to the local nightclubs and party spots.
While Seychelles isn't Bali or Phuket, the nightlife in the islands isn't as bleak as it appears. There are a few pubs and casinos here where you may have a good time with the locals on weekends.
One intriguing aspect of Seychelles nightlife is that the islanders like to party on weekends, therefore the few clubs in the country are largely deserted during the week. Weekends, on the other hand, are when the fun begins.
One of the best bars in Mahe, Seychelles is the Ripples Pool Bar in Story Seychelles. Ripples, a casual yet stylish establishment close to the pool, serves a wide variety of drinks, light nibbles, and snacks. If you're searching for a calm day, this lovely pool bar in Seychelles is the ideal place to unwind.
Feed the majestic Aldabra Giant Tortoises & Spend Time With Them
Spending time with the native Aldabra Giant Tortoises is one of the most unusual things to do in Seychelles. These magnificent creatures can be seen in considerable numbers on Curieuse Island and La Digue Island, but there are a few on Praslin Island and Mahe Island as well.
You may go among the tortoises on Curieuse Island and interact with them in the open, which is a fantastic experience. And on La Digue, inside the L'Union Estate, there is an enclosure where these tortoises are housed, and you may feed them the leaves that are stored there for visitors.
A small nursery is also located here, where you can observe the small Aldabra tortoises going about their daily routine. Overall, this is something that you should not miss out on while visiting Seychelles.
Scuba Diving and Snorkeling in the Most Beautiful Location
Of course, you must go snorkeling or scuba diving in the crystal-clear waters of the Seychelles when you visit. Seychelles is bordered by the gorgeous Indian Ocean and boasts diverse marine life, making it a popular scuba diving destination.
Thousands of visitors come here each year to explore the underwater world and see the beautiful coral reef and animals that call this region home. The best part is that there are several nice snorkeling beaches here, so all you need is your snorkeling mask to get started.
On one of the islands, go rock climbing.
Rock climbing is one of the top things to do in Seychelles for adventure seekers. Whether you are a seasoned rock climber or a novice, Seychelles provides the ideal rock climbing sites for you. While practically any rock may be climbed here, there are a few specific locations with graded climbs that are a lot more fun.
Many resorts have built their own rock-climbing centers in the jungles so that tourists can enjoy rock climbing there. If you enjoy rock climbing, you will be able to locate a plethora of magnificent rock cliffs to climb here for free. However, exercise caution and carry the essential safety equipment when doing so.
Take a Drive to the Stunning Viewpoints
If you rent a car in Seychelles, one of the nicest things you can do is drive to the picturesque places around the island to take in the scenery. The La Misere Viewpoint, for example, provides a stunning view of Eden Island and Victoria City in the distance.
Apart from that, the Mission Lodge Viewpoint, as well as several other overlooks on Praslin and La Digue Island, may be reached by car. So, while you're in Seychelles, go for a drive to take in the stunning beach vistas.
Spend the Night on the Beach Under the Stars
You know how nice and calm it is to spend a night on the beach if you've ever done it. One of the nicest things to do in Seychelles is to spend a night on a beach, soaking up the calm and tranquility. As the moon slowly makes its way to the sky, you will be surrounded only by palm trees and the sound of the ocean waves.
The moonlight will illuminate the water below, creating an exquisite scene for you. To be honest, seeing a full moon on an ocean or a star-studded sky near an ocean is the most amazing feeling in the world. Just keep an eye out for crabs that emerge from the water in the middle of the night and begin scrambling around the beach.
Adventure awaits you on the Copolia Trail.
If you enjoy trekking, the Copolia Trail in Mahe is one of the most popular trails to visit in Seychelles. This hiking trek takes you to the summit of a granite mountain for a stunning view of the white sand beaches and the turquoise Indian Ocean.
Not only that, but the trail also provides access to the region's distinctive vegetation and is a relatively easy climb for anyone. It's also one of the free tourist attractions in Seychelles, so it won't break the bank.
Take a lot of pictures to remember the trip.
Taking a lot of pictures around here is one of the greatest and cheapest ways to make the most of your trip to the Seychelles. You will not find such breathtakingly lovely vistas anyplace else on the planet. The massive granite rocks that surround a white glistening beach next to a brilliant blue ocean have their allure.
Honestly, during my stay here, I couldn't stop taking pictures. And now, whenever I look at those photos, I can relive my trip and recall my favorite experiences from it. So, my friend, grab a nice camera and start clicking!
Visit the Vallée De Mai, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
While not a free activity, a tour of the Vallée De Mai National Park is required if you truly want to enjoy the finest of Seychelles. On Praslin Island, there is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the rare Coco De Mer thrives in its native state.
Many indigenous species such as the Seychelles bulbul, blue pigeon, Seychelles Warbler, black parrot, and others can be found here, making it a bird watcher's paradise. Aside from that, there are various hiking routes to discover, as well as guided tours to learn about the diverse flora and wildlife found here.
From Mahe, visit the beautiful islands of Curieuse, Cousin Island, and St. Pierre.
Seychelles is well-known for having some of the most gorgeous islands in the world. Many people use boats, kayaks, or pedal boats to explore the islands. If you genuinely want to appreciate these islands, though, a Seychelles cruise is the ideal way to do it.
Cruises from Mahe allow you to visit islands like Cousin Island, Curieuse, and St. Pierre, which have gorgeous topography, rich foliage, and exotic beaches. This, however, may be an expensive event and is not suggested for budget tourists.
Morne National Park is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna.
Morne Seychellois National Park, which covers 20% of Mahe's total land area, is home to a diverse range of flora and animals, ranging from coastal mangrove forests to Seychelles' highest peak, Morne Seychellois.
This densely forested mountainous region can only be reached on foot, as there are various pathways built out here. In this national park, there are approximately 12 trails that can be explored on full-day or half-day outings.
Beautiful sceneries and the remnants of cinnamon distilleries can be seen on these walks. So, if you want to escape the chaos of the world for a bit, a walk in this national park is the ideal method to do so. And, once again, this is a 100% free activity!
On La Digue, go to the Vintage Plantation House.
Visit the classic plantation house on the L Union Estate in La Digue, which is one of the most popular things to do in Seychelles. This 300-hectare region today serves as a well-known national monument, displaying the history and culture of La Digue.
Other attractions on the LÚnion Estate include coconut plantations, a coconut oil factory, a historic cemetery, a Copra home, and a Giant Aldabra Tortoise sanctuary and nursery. The famed Anse Source d'Argent beach is also located here, and admission costs 125 Seychellois Rupees.
Play a Round of Golf While Taking in the View
Another enjoyable activity in the Seychelles is to play golf while admiring the breathtaking scenery. To have some fun, you can go to the Seychelles Golf Club or The Lemuria Champions Golf Course in Seychelles. These golf courses are demanding and offer a beautiful perspective, making golfing here even more enjoyable.
Spend a day at the beach barbecuing or taking a boat tour.
Enjoying a BBQ on the beach was one of my favorite things to do in Seychelles. I was invited to their monthly BBQ party because I was staying at a local's house on Mahe Island, and it was a lot of fun.
Swimming in the ocean, relaxing on the beach, and eating barbecue food were all new experiences for me. Another alternative is to go on a full-day boat trip to Therese Island, which is one of the most enjoyable activities on the island. You can snorkel on the beach, relax, and eat traditional Creole BBQ on this boat excursion.
Embark on a tour of the islands.
To be honest, there isn't a scarcity of things to do in the Seychelles. Island hopping in the Seychelles is one such activity that you may add to your itinerary. There are many islands to explore in this island nation, which is made up of an archipelago of 115 islands.
You may admire Silhouette Island's topography, spend a day on La Digue Island or Denis Island, take a trip to Bird Island to see the indigenous birds, and much more. Island hopping in Seychelles is a lot of fun because of the gorgeous mountain ranges, sparkling beaches, and unusual biodiversity.
A Helicopter Ride Over the Islands Will Show You the Best of the Islands
Are you seeking a way to have even more fun while visiting the Seychelles? If so, a helicopter tour of the islands is required to enjoy the greatest views of these pristine islands. Believe me when I say that the view from above is completely different.
The huge Indian Ocean stretches on all sides, with numerous little islands strewn across the water, each with lush foliage, white pristine beaches, and distinct geology. A helicopter ride over the islands will provide a spectacular perspective of the islands.
Visit Anse Lazio, one of Seychelles' most beautiful beaches.
Anse Lazio is known as the most beautiful beach in the world because of its golden sand, massive granite formations, and crystal-clear azure-colored sea. This means that during the tourist season in Seychelles, it might get fairly crowded, but if you prepare ahead, you can enjoy the beach when it is quiet.
You can swim and snorkel here because the water is rich in fish, and there is usually a lifeguard on duty to keep you safe when you venture out into the ocean. There are various shops and restaurants here where you may enjoy a dinner with a view and spend an entire day relaxing or swimming. Furthermore, there are no fees associated with visiting the beach and enjoying its beauty.
Spend a Day on Moyenne Island, an undiscovered gem.
Moyenne Island, one of the nicest islands in Seychelles and a popular tourist destination, is recognized for its massive rocks and diverse flora and fauna. As you fall in love with Moyenne Island, a walk on the island could be a terrific approach to rest and refresh.
You may also order some delectable cuisine and cool beverages here. In Seychelles, this is a popular island for both lone visitors and couples.
While zip-lining, take in the breathtaking views of the forest.
Ziplining is another great sport to attempt in Seychelles, and it will provide you with incredible views of the forest canopy as well as the unique flora and wildlife found here. The zip-lining center SMAC Adventures is located in the Constance Ephelia Resort in Port Launay, Mahe.
Available are eight zip line possibilities there, ranging in length from 85 to 120 meters. The best aspect is that this exercise is suitable for people of all ages. So, while zip-lining, you can take in the beauty of the big granite boulders and rich foliage.
Take a lot of pictures at the world's most photographed beach.
Have you ever wished to go somewhere that looks like it belongs on a postcard? If so, you must go to Seychelles' Anse Source D'Argent Beach on La Digue. This is the most photographed beach on the planet, which comes as no surprise given the breathtaking scenery.
Palm trees, coves, and pink granite boulders dominate the entire beach area, which is said to change color. And because of its hypnotic beauty, you'll notice this setting in a lot of wedding images and commercials. During my visit, I noticed at least three wedding photographers here creating the ideal backdrop for the newlyweds.
Visit the bustling Victoria Market.
If you are staying in Seychelles for a few days, you must visit Victoria Market, the island's most popular shopping destination. This bustling market is brimming with vendors selling everything from vegetables to trinkets, all at extremely low costs. You can shop and haggle here until you're weary and hungry, then dine on true Creole cuisine at a few of the nearby restaurants.
In Seychelles, pay a visit to the beautiful Hindu Temple.
The only Hindu temple in Seychelles, Arul Mihu Navasakthi Vinayagar Temple, was completed in 1992 and is a famous tourist attraction. This temple, which is near Victoria's city center and features a very magnificent and colorful decorative tower, is set against a beautiful backdrop of green hills.
The temple is dedicated to Lord Vinayagar, the Hindu god of safety and prosperity, and is a wonderful spot to come if you want to relax. The temple's magnificent carvings are also a sight to behold and will take your breath away when you first see it.
Hike around the lovely beach of Anse Georgette.
The hiking trail near Anse Georgette Beach is one of the top things to do in Seychelles. This trail, also known as the Mont Plaisir Georgette walk, is particularly popular in Praslin because it provides panoramic views of the ocean.
This is a 2-3 hour hiking trail that begins from Anse Lazio and leads to the north point of Praslin. If you don't have much time, start the route from the Lemuria Hotel and enjoy the views before returning the same way. The best part is that this hiking trail is completely free, so you may enjoy breathtaking vistas without spending any money.
Seychelles' Specialty Seafood
Because Seychelles is surrounded by water, there are many delicious seafood meals to be found here. It is entirely up to you whether you go on a street food tour to sample the local delights or dine in proper restaurants.
Grilled fish, octopus curry, shark chutney, octopus salad, and other dishes are among the must-try items here. I tried the Octopus Curry here for the first time and found it to be quite tasty.
This cuisine is made with a blend of spices, curry powder, and coconut milk, and it is as tasty as you can imagine. If you enjoy seafood, you must sample the fresh seafood dishes served here.
Explore the Leprosarium's Ruins
If you enjoy visiting historical sites, the Curieuse Island, which is home to the ruins of the Leprosarium, is a must-see. Curieuse Island has a stunning coastline with sculpted granite boulders in a reddish hue, but it's the tragic history of the island that makes it noteworthy. Many years ago, people were quarantined because they had contracted leprosy.
There is a structure here in ruins where they were quarantined. In 1829, British Indian Ocean Territory's first leprosarium was built. The lepers were maintained in appalling conditions, and this structure was largely occupied by Mauritian and Seychellois slaves.
It was shut down in 1965 since leprosy had been nearly eradicated in the country by then. A tour through these ruins, on the other hand, might send shivers down your spine.
Hike the Seychelles' Amazing Trails
Now, we've already covered a few hiking paths in this post, but it doesn't even scratch the surface of what Seychelles has to offer hikers and adventure seekers. There are approximately 100 hiking routes on the islands that lead to either an incredible vista or a secret beach.
Visit the Aride Island Nature Reserve, which has remained untouched.
Aride Island, one of the greatest islands in Seychelles, is a hidden jewel of the Indian Ocean and one of the country's most important National Reserves. This island has remained lovely and wild all this time due to its natural abundance, and it is now administered by the Island Conservation Society.
The island is home to over a million seabirds from ten different species, as well as a few indigenous birds such as Magpie Robins, Brush Warblers, Fodies, Blue Pigeons, and others. There is also numerous indigenous flora such as Wright's Gardenia, Turtle Beaches, and others that may be found here.
Because this is a protected area, no outside vessels are permitted to land on the island, but you can join tours to see the island's diverse flora and fauna. If you want to include this island in your Seychelles itinerary, November to February is the best time to go because you may see migratory birds.
Take a tour of the La Misere Exotics Garden Center, which is kept hidden from the general public.
If you enjoy botany, one of the nicest things you can do is visit the garden, which is situated in a sloped area with numerous staircases, pathways, and trails leading to the property. There are about 300 plant species in this garden, as well as 50,000 flowers and other plants growing on the property.
This botanical garden, hidden in the heart of Kennedy Road, is a must-see on your Seychelles vacation. The park is open Monday through Saturday, and there is a cafe inside the building that serves refreshments.
Explore the Man-Made Island near Victoria City
Eden Island, despite being a manmade island, is no less gorgeous and is only 3.5 kilometers from Victoria city. This island was formed in the 2000s and is best known for its sheltered beaches and bays, which make it a popular tourist destination.
Eden Island, which is home to some of the greatest hotels around Victoria, is ideal for those looking for a more isolated area to stay in Seychelles. You can also rent an apartment here for a longer visit and enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
If it doesn't pique your interest, you may always take a day trip from Mahe to see this famous island.
With the help of a local, visit the secluded Anse Marron Beach.
Anse Marron Beach, an isolated beach on La Digue Island, is a great place to unwind and rest because it is usually deserted. You can take a dip or paddle around in one of the shallow saltwater pools here.
The beach is completely picturesque because these pools are bordered by massive granite outcrops. However, finding Anse Marron beach on your own is difficult, which is why most tourists hire a tour guide to take them there. While the path leading to the beach is a little slick and treacherous, the effort is well worth it once you arrive at the beach and see the breathtaking vista.
The golden sand beach, which is surrounded by big granite boulders and several shallow saltwater ponds, is breathtaking. While swimming in the ocean is not recommended due to the lack of coral reefs and deep ocean water, you may still snap photos and relax on the beach.
On Mahe Island, take a Sunset Cruise.
Another fantastic activity in the Seychelles is to arrange a Sunset Cruise from Mahe Island to visit the exclusive beaches and have a lovely evening. While sunset cruises are a favorite activity for couples since they are romantic, that doesn't mean you can't go on one on your own or with your friends.
While you're here, savor the great meals onboard, have a glass of wine, sway to the onboard music, and simply rest. If you're lucky, you might even witness dolphins or a flock of flying fish dancing about the boat. Trust me when I say that this is an incredible event that you will never forget.
Stay in a Beachfront Hotel for an Unforgettable Experience
If you genuinely want to make the most of your time in Seychelles, one of the best things you can do is stay in Seychelles hotels near the beach. In the Seychelles, such hotels can be found in Mahe, Praslin, and even La Digue.
Story Seychelles is one of these hotels. Located near Beau Vallon Beach, one of Mahè's most opulent neighborhoods, only 10 minutes from Victoria (the capital), 5 minutes from Morne Seychelles National Park, and 20 minutes from Seychelles International Airport. These hotels have breathtaking ocean views as well as spectacular sunrises and sunsets.
You won't have to travel far to find a nice area for sunbathing or swimming in the water because these hotels are beachfront. You also have free access to the loungers and are free to relax on the beach all day.
Seychelles offers a variety of water-based activities.
If you've already done your snorkeling and scuba diving in the Seychelles, here are some alternative activities to consider. Windsurfing, paragliding, water skiing, and other water-based activities are available at various beaches and resorts in the area. The equipment can be rented by the hour of the activity. A few hotels also provide these activities for free to their visitors.
Teddy's Glass Bottom Boat Tour in Mahe is a must-do for anybody visiting the island.
For those who aren't comfortable with underwater activities, Teddy's Glass Bottom Boat Tour is a fantastic option. Teddy and his team will take you on a boat tour that will show you the underwater world through the boat's glass bottom.
Through the glass, you'll be able to observe the coral reef, rainbow fish, and other aquatic species. Then, if you like, you can snorkel to get a closer look at them. After that, you'll be escorted to a private beach where you may relax and have a fantastic BBQ lunch.
Here are some of the most beautiful landmarks and monuments in the area.
Because Seychelles was colonized for more than two centuries, there are some beautiful monuments worth seeing. On this island nation, there are approximately 30 monuments that are protected due to their historic, architectural, or archaeological significance.
The iconic Clock Tower, Old Courthouse, Bicentennial Monument, State House, Mission Lodge, and other attractions and Creole architecture can all be found on Mahe Island. So, if you want to learn about Seychelles' history, visiting these monuments and learning the background behind their construction is one of the greatest things to do in Seychelles.
Summary
Seychelles is a stunning country, and I can't express how stunning and full of stories it is. So, make sure you spend enough time here and participate in as many things as possible to get a true sense of this magical area.
If you're on a budget, there's no need to worry because you may simply find activities that are either free or inexpensive. At the end of the day, it's all about creating memories, and the Seychelles is the greatest place to do that.

Day at Sea!
Day at Sea - Sunday, May 26, 2019
Kara:. I’ll kick off the story today. I woke up and knew Gayle had at least been awake as the curtain between the two sides of the stateroom was a little open and I could see some natural light coming through from the verandah window. I moved a little so I could see through the curtain and waved my hand in G’s direction but didn’t get a response so I flopped back in bed and readjusted a bit to get comfortable - thinking I would read until she woke back up. I was thrilled to see it was after 9 and was hoping she was sleeping well. The sound of me moving around signaled to her I was awake and she came over and sat on the bed. We had both slept well. What a relief.
Gayle: For the record, we slept from 10:30pm to 8:40am (me)/9:30am (Kara). Not sure if it was from the Dramamine or exhaustion/stress of the 2 days prior. Frankly at this point we didn’t care.
Kara: We put on some clothes - essentially public facing pajamas - and headed up to Cabanas for the breakfast buffet. We’re neither one fans of the sit down restaurant breakfasts so it’s always a bonus when we get Cabanas. Mickey Waffles with strawberry sauce rounded out my breakfast selection. I don’t like waffles much at nearly any other time or place but these are so good.
Gayle: Yep it was great to see Cabana’s open until 11am, but we got there at 9:45am. Breakfast is my favorite meal, especially with a Disney buffet! So I piled up the most excellent (that we need to figure out how to replicate) Banana Bread French Toast, Mickey waffles, & Chocolate Cinnamon Brioche Bread. (And I pretty much work to make everything I can into a dessert!)
As is appropriate on a Day at Sea we napped from 11:40am-1:40pm! The afternoon was spent simply chatting, reading, & lounging in our stateroom. (This is due to us being varied levels of introvert and the new release of Disney’s Aladdin not being shown at any reasonable hour.)
Tonight was Formal Night, and for us Palo. (It’s also why I picked a rotation with Animator’s Palate tonight, so we could skip it, as it’s our least favorite menu.) Kara started getting ready at 3:30pm and me soon after at 4pm. We handled our “chores” at 5:30pm - getting extra seasick/Meclazine pills from Guest Service since we didn’t bring enough with us (on purpose knowing they have them complimentary on-board), applying our gift cards to the onboard accounts, and dropping off our two Placeholder re-booking forms. We stopped back by the room to drop things off and for me to grab an Excedrin Migraine, since I failed to take my normal caffeine in the morning.
With all this we chatted with Zoe in the lobby and were still at Palo before it opened/our 6pm reservation. Our Palo server was Alvin (Phillipines). He was funny (chipmunk!) and the whole environment of Palo felt more light-hearted than usual. Shockingly my chunk of lobster tail was slightly over-cooked, but all the rest was as incredible as usual. The pappardelle and chocolate souffles were as wonderful as ever!
Kara: Gayle and I get the same meal in Palo - the gnocchi, pappardelle, and scallops. I ADORE the mushroom risotto but even if they bring you a half order it’s just too much food and I’d prefer to eat all the seafood. So I asked Alvin to bring me “just a bite” of risotto. He chuckled at me and walked away. True to Disney Cruise Line service, he did bring me a tiny ramekin with just a bite or two of risotto - exactly what I’d asked for. And, then, of course, came the full plate or Risotto along with the parmesan crisp! The chef would never allow just that bite to leave the kitchen (shhhh - don’t tell). I will add that we really got to know Alvin a bit more than any other Palo server. As an educator, his story of the role of education in his family was really meaningful to me.
Here’s the photo journey of our favorite meal!
Kara and her glass of Rosa Regale.
The starters of bread and anti-pasta. (The full offerings of the anti-pasta are brought table-side via cart and the server makes a plate of your choice.)
Potato gnocchi
Kara’s “tiny ramekin” of mushroom risotto! LOL!
The pappardelle with lobster. (Gayle says this is on-par with the chocolate souffle. That says it all!)
Our lemon palate-cleanser between courses.
A close-up of one of the glorious scallops.
Gayle’s perfect chocolate souffles!
Kara’s dish of delectable berries.
(The light in Palo is not great for photos!)
We finished just after 8pm and skipped the stage show, Twice Charmed - An Original Twist on a Cinderella Story, as neither of us care for it.
We popped up to the Deck 9 drink station for ice in the morning, laid out our clothes for the first of four Port Adventure days, filled-out the breakfast Room Service card, and set a too-early alarm for Naples day. In our room that night we returned to find 6 chocolate-covered strawberries, presumably from Zoe, but with no note.

Having visited for the first time as a high schooler at the ripe age of 17, I can confidently say that I experienced Cabo before Cabo experienced its boom. Well over a decade later, the place looks completely different to my eyes.
When the first hotel, Palmilla, opened in 1956 essentially as a sports club, Cabo San Lucas and its older brother San Jose del Cabo (combined to make Los Cabos) made up a quiet beach paradise…and then Jack Nicklaus came in the 60s for his go-to golf vacays. As time went on, the sleepy fishing village kept bringing in hotel rooms and groomed golf courses. Cut to 2019. The secret was out.
Luxury hotels are definitely keeping up with population growth, and nothing pairs better with a jacuzzi suite than a world-class golf game and a side of guac. I was keen on participating in this renaissance.
Esperanza Resort
Last week I checked into a hotel I’ve heard about many times. Esperanza Resort from the Auberge collection had me at HELLO HOLA HI HEY HOW YA DOIN? Sorry for the caps, but emphasis was necessary. Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name and they’re always glad you came. Esperanza should probs be featured in the Cheers opening credits because it’s exactly that way. “Hola Ms. Murphy! Como estás Mr. Murphy?!” It’s funny because Alex is so often referred to as Mr. Murphy during our travels. I think he’s totally fine with it The many highlights included…
Cocina del Mar
I’m not sure I’ve ever dined at a more beautiful/romantic setting. Maybe so, but it’d take a while to think about and wonder if it truly competed with a setting perched atop cliffs overlooking Esperanza’s two private beaches as waves crash below. The entire resort blends well with the surroundings, almost like it arrived with the land itself. So much soul, so much nature, so much LET ME LIVE HERE PLEASE.
I digress. Order the ravioli and banana soufflé. My mouth is watering just thinking back on it…
Playa Paraiso
This seaside experience centered around a colorful cabana, food, and relaxation nestled in the resort’s private beach where each palapa features a day bed, playful swing, a speaker and private butler service (shoutout Roberto!). We began the day with a yoga class followed by breakfast and then an I’m-really-full-need-to-lounge session. Life was really good in that palapa.
Palapa Room
Room 54 was a masterpiece. Not only designed beautifully with beachy vibes and relaxing hues, but the room came with a massive terrace and jacuzzi AND puppies. Yes, puppies. One blissful afternoon I puppysat Ricky and Rosa, long-haired Chihuahuas from central Mexico who will be the cutest hotel mascot ever created. If you can beat that hotel amenity, let me know. I’ll wait.
.eic-frame-13028 { width: 1540px; height:1184px; background-color: border: 3px solid }.eic-frame-13028 .eic-image { border: 3px solid }
Chileno Bay Resort
I have to be honest. While change is healthy, change is challenging. I did not want to leave Esperanza Resort. I could birth my babies, live out a wonderful life and retire here. I drove up to Chileno Bay for check-in still holding onto this hope. (I was in denial.) I didn’t want to like Chileno Bay. It was a contemporary take on the classic Baja escape with an airy, open aesthetic that blurs the line between indoor and outdoor. Terrible, right? A red cart named “Tony” met us at check-in and gave us a Corona. Okay Tony with the beers. I see you. Chileno Bay was brand spankin’ new with beautiful young palm trees and pops of color and relaxing sounds coming from the pool area. Sounds horrific, right? The room had two showers and a bathtub decked in blue tile alongside an outdoor jacuzzi. So many bodies of water, so little time. The hydrotherapy kicked in and I realized I’d become obsessed with my new home. I think I’m gunna like it here…
Spa
I was told the 7,500-square-foot spa had a healing “ritual” I needed to partake in. Twist my arm, I did just that. The salt room, steam room, ice bath and reflexology pool were quite the highlight indeed alongside the massage and facial I experienced.
Food
The standout of Cabo was hands down the cuisine. I ate WELL and thus, gained 5 pounds, maybe six. Who knows? I don’t believe in scales. The only thing I’m sure about is this: The Auberge chefs are extremely talented and the creativity that went into meal settings was next level. One night we were eating at a spa after a 90-minute massage and then next on a cliff overlooking the sea at Mirador Point. Order the chicken. Don’t ask questions, just DO IT. And then follow up with churros.

Fitness
I work out so that I can eat well and eat a lot. My relationship with fitness actually goes far deeper than that, but I want everyone to know that you don’t have to skip out on all the local yumminess when traveling. Eat the churro(s). Have the margarita. Just move the next day Your body will appreciate you! Chileno Bay Resort & Residences offers group fitness classes like yoga, Zumba, beach bootcamp and AQUA SPIN where you literally spin on a bike in the water. I KNOW. The only resistance is the water (yay low impact!), and I wish I could do this exercise daily.
Beach
The most desirable beach in Los Cabos resides here, known for its tranquil, swimmable waters and coral reefs where a short venture out to sea unveils an underwater world of tropical fish and sea turtles! With that being said, this beach is not private like Esperanza’s beach (which is rockier). Pros and cons but both beautiful in their own way!
They say third times a charm, and my third trip to Cabo was exactly that. For once, I let a lot of the craziness that I typically do take a backseat. Instead of a jam packed itinerary, I allowed myself to actually lounge and enjoy the scenery as I’ve experienced this town to epic proportions in the past. Cabo was where I was certified to scuba dive. I’ve been whale watching on a boat trip (totally recommend), and a visit to downtown Cabo requires a stop at The Office for margs and Ediths for everything else. Flora Farms is crazy beautiful, almost like Pinterest threw up in the desert of Cabo. I’ve never been one to plan out my wedding, but I left here thinking I could do the damn thing on these grounds.
I adore Cabo and the people in it. To Euanice, Mario Lopez, Lizabeth, Caesar, Javier, Yanni, Marc Rodriguez, Roberto, Miguel, Antonio, Francisco, Raúl, Saira, and Juliana: mil gracias por todo.
This little paradise has overcome hurricanes and tropical storms and cartel violence. 2018 saw a record 2.6 million visitors. I commend its perseverance. While I’d say it’s predictable because you know what you’re going to get…you know what you’re going to get! Lots of people like this and I, too, enjoy the certainty at times – no surprises, lots of sunshine, tequila in abundance and a 2 hour flight from LA. What’s not to love?!

Review! NEW Food Menu at Banana Cabana in Disney World’s Caribbean Beach Resort
Disney World’s Caribbean Beach Resort underwent a massive resort-wide renovation in 2017 and 2018.
Learn About: Banana Cabana Pool Bar
Disney World Restaurants
One of many results of the refurbishment was a completely revamped Banana Cabana. This beloved pool bar used to be exactly that — simply a bar by the pool. But the renovated space now offers table seating as well as bar seating, signature cocktails and a full food menu.
And that food menu is what brings us back to Banana Cabana today! A new menu has just made its debut, so we’re here to check it out!
Banana Cabana
And we’re glad to be doing so, because Banana Cabana is a pretty terrific hangout.
Banana Cabana
Banana Cabana
Banana Cabana
You may recall that, upon its post-refurb opening, Banana Cabana served up “Island Favorite Appetizers” that primarily echoed those served on the menu at Sebastian’s Bistro — the Resort’s new Table Service location (and another result of the refurbishment). In fact, guests at Banana Cabana were able to order directly from the Sebastian’s Bistro menu — even in daytime hours when the Bistro was still serving lunch.
But now, Banana Cabana has its own food menu. (You’ll see some of the drink selections on this side of the page, too.)
Banana Cabana Menu
Taking more of a close-up, the menu features a fairly limited Appetizer selection with items more akin to pub grub you might expect from a bar, though with some Caribbean flavor inspiration.
Appetizer Menu
The Entrée menu is entirely new, featuring sandwiches and salads with a bit of a Caribbean twist for some of the fare.
Entrée Menu
Of course, we can’t leave the bar without taking a look at the drink menu (although, by and large, the beverage offerings have remained the same).
Drink Menu
We really enjoyed the Pink Guava Colada and the signature Banana Cabana on our previous visit! (Like, really enjoyed.)
Pink Guava Colada and Banana Cabana
But today we’re here to check out the new food! From the Appetizers, we ordered the Chili Con Queso and the Loaded Sweet Potato Fries.
Appetizers and Kraken Punch
Oh, yeah… we ordered the Kraken Punch cocktail while we were at it, too
! It takes Kraken Black Spiced Rum and mixes it with blood orange sour and pomegranate and orange juices.
Kraken Punch
It’s a sweet drink, but a bit on the lesser side than most of the specialty cocktails. It has a nice bite to it from the rum.
Kraken Punch
The Chili Con Queso takes skirt steak chili and combines it with pimento cheese and pico de gallo served with fried tortillas.
Chili Con Queso
Chili Con Queso
We were really excited about the pimento cheese (‘cuz we love it!), but unfortunately its flavor gets lost, overpowered by the chili.
Chili Con Queso
That said, the chili is good, but lacked any spice and could really benefit from having more creaminess from added cheese to be a great dip.
Chili Con Queso
The Loaded Sweet Potato Fries are topped with your choice of Pulled Pork, Beef Brisket, or Jerk Chicken.
Loaded Sweet Potato Fries
Then the dish is topped with cojita cheese and pico de gallo.
Loaded Sweet Potato Fries
We went with Pulled Pork for the meat topper, and it pairs quite well with the sweet potato.
Loaded Sweet Potato Fries
And overall the combination of the sweet flavor with the dryness of the cheese made this one a winner.
Loaded Sweet Potato Fries
From the Entrees, we grabbed a salad and two sandwiches.
Entrees
The Chilled Seafood Salad serves up conch, shrimp, and lump crab with bell peppers, cilantro, and lime dressing.
Chilled Seafood Salad
A particular highlight is the chunks of crab, which are massive.
Chilled Seafood Salad
And the overall flavor of the dish was sweet, bright, and citrusy. This will be especially refreshing in the hot summer months.
Chilled Seafood Salad
The Jerk Chicken Sandwich tops the chicken with grilled pineapple and roasted-chili mayo.
Jerk Chicken Sandwich
It’s served on substantial slices of toasted ciabatta.
Jerk Chicken Sandwich
It also comes with your choice of jicama apple slaw or fries (French fries or sweet potato fries).
Jicama Apple Slaw
This one is really delicious. The chicken is nice and spicy and we loved the grilled pineapple with it. It’s truly a solid sandwich.
Jerk Chicken Sandwich
The Caribbean-Style Cheesesteak places braised beef brisket, smoked gouda, and bell peppers on a Cuban roll.
Caribbean-Style Cheesesteak
It also comes with your choice of the same sides as the Jerk Chicken Sandwich.
French Fries
On the upside, the brisket is really flavorful.
Caribbean-Style Cheesesteak
However, some improvements could be made. We would’ve preferred the cheese to be better melted and the peppers and onions to be more caramelized, like a classic cheesesteak.
Caribbean-Style Cheesesteak
So while it’s good, it could be great with some experimentation, we think.
Overall, it is really nice for Banana Cabana to have its own unique food offerings now. After all, the setting has a vibe all its own. And if you’re missing the original food menu, you’ll find many of those appetizers over at Sebastian’s Bistro for dinner. So, even though certain dishes could stand some improvement, the switch is a pretty good win for Banana Cabana, which is already an established terrific hangout at Caribbean Beach!

Virgin Voyages Sailings Now Open for Bookings
NEW YORK — Virgin Group Founder Sir Richard Branson and Virgin Voyages President and CEO Tom McAlpin announced today that Virgin Voyages is officially open for business, with the company’s first ship, Scarlet Lady, now open for bookings for her inaugural season, with voyages departing from April 1 through October 21, 2020 now on sale.
“I’ve dreamed of starting my own cruise line since I was in my 20’s, and now the launch is finally getting close,” said Richard Branson, Founder of Virgin Voyages. “We have taken the time to think about every detail and craft an experience that brings the Virgin brand to life and disrupts the travel industry.”
Virgin Voyages will offer a cheeky and cheerful approach to service, as well as an inclusive approach to sea travel that removes pesky add-ons. Its Sailors will enjoy free food at the 20+ eateries onboard, free group fitness classes, no gratuities or service charges, free Wifi and free basic beverages like soda, teas, and drip coffee, as well as still and sparkling water.
“At Virgin Voyages we are going beyond just great design, to defy and redefine luxury to be rebellious luxe,” said Tom McAlpin, President and CEO of Virgin Voyages. “This new luxury is about knowing you are taken care of, that you’re never being nickel and dimed, and what you want, even some of the things you didn’t know you wanted, are already taken care of for you.”
In conjunction with opening bookings for sale, Virgin Voyages revealed that all voyages will feature The Beach Club at Bimini, a Virgin Voyages experience in Bimini, Bahamas. There, Sailors can enjoy an epic beach day and/or explore the island flavor and culture of Bimini and its turquoise blue waters.
While on ship, Virgin Voyages Sailors will have the opportunity to choose from a festival-like lineup of all-new completely original Events & Gigs developed by some of the world’s most-talked about producers, directors and artists in the expansion of the company’s Creative Collective. Virgin Voyages’ entertainment Creative Collective includes Jenny Gersten, Randy Weiner, Sam Pinkleton, Ani Taj, PigPen Theatre Co, The 7 Fingers, Roslyn Hart and Alfredo Guenzani and the Spark Cooperative.
The Beach Club at Bimini
A cornerstone of every voyage will be The Beach Club at Bimini, where sailors can feel the sand in their toes in a stylish setting with white-sand and crystal clear waters and programming that will rival the best beach clubs in Ibiza and Saint-Tropez.
Just a short transfer from the pier, and built by Resorts World Bimini, The Beach Club at Bimini is designed with Miami-based architects EOA, Inc., featuring natural materials and soft earth tones that organically blend into the seascape. The Beach Club at Bimini will overlook the ocean and cascade down to the sea with an expansive lagoon-style pool as the central anchor of the club.
In the spirit of Vitamin Sea, the brand’s ethos of well-being, there will be moments of retox and detox throughout the day. Sailors will find areas of high energy and quiet spots for complete relaxation and introspection. Mornings at The Beach Club at Bimini will begin with yoga and meditation as Sailors enjoy the sounds of the ocean. The energy at The Beach Club at Bimini will be gradually amplified as the day progresses and turned back down as dusk settles in. Sailors will reach the high point of the day by the afternoon where DJ-led pool and flotilla parties will be center of the action. The night’s energy will wind down with a beach bonfire to close out the evening with an acoustic musical performance.
With music at the heart of the Virgin brand, Virgin Voyages will carefully curate the soundtrack for The Beach Club at Bimini, with seven-time Grammy-Award-winning artist and producer Mark Ronson named founding DJ, where he will be among the first talent to grace the turntables. Ronson, the British-born DJ, producer and songwriter, has topped the charts and collaborated with artists like Amy Winehouse, Lady Gaga, Adele, Miley Cyrus and Bruno Mars. Ronson will have four performances in 2020, with specific performance dates to be announced soon.
The Beach Club will also have complimentary food that is thoughtfully sourced. Its locally inspired menus will serve up island favorites such as conch and mango salad, banana leaf-wrapped queen snapper, Bahamian rum cake and more. As Sailors start to explore the club they will be pleased to discover creative social spaces with hammock groves and six bars where Sailors can congregate in groups of friends. Those looking for a home base for the day can enjoy the many beach loungers, or opt for a more private place to cuddle up, with beach-side and poolside cabanas available for rent. The Beach Club at Bimini will also feature active areas for watersports and beach play.
Sailors staying in RockStar Suites will have their exclusive slice of paradise at The Beach Club at Bimini, with a dedicated bar, complimentary food service, an outdoor terrace lounge, sun loungers and beach cabanas.
Sailors looking to explore the island of Bimini will have ample opportunities to do so in this off-the-beaten path tropical destination. The island is a beach-lovers paradise with welcoming and warm residents. It was a known favorite of author Ernest Hemingway, who described it as “like the end of the world.” This intimate seven-mile island offers extraordinary sea experiences such as boating, snorkeling, and even wreck diving, with the SS Sapona just a few miles off the coast of the southern part of the island.
Entertainment
Scarlet Lady will feature a festival of choice in entertainment made up of bespoke intimate and authentic Events & Gigs created exclusively for Virgin Voyages, with the goal of providing Sailors with an alternative perspective on the world and play that ignites the spirit within. Sailors won’t just sit and watch shows, they may be asked to participate with the cast or become immersed in the world of the performance. In keeping with Virgin Voyages’ rebellious nature, the company will have no traditional cruise director on board the ship, and instead will have a dynamic group of individuals dedicated to making “Happenings” around the ship completely epic.
From modern takes on classic stories, to interactive dance parties and off-the wall participatory acts, the experiences will break down the fourth wall and push the boundaries of traditional stage performances. Virgin Voyages’ entertainment goes beyond Broadway with first run experiences that have never been seen before on land or at sea.
The company has expanded its Creative Collective from design and food to now include entertainment, working with some of the brightest creative minds, who are pushing boundaries of traditional theater and entertainment on land.
To accommodate its variety of entertainment opportunities Virgin Voyages created The Red Room — designed by renowned architects WorkAC and theater consultants Auerbach Pollock Friedlander — as the first transformational multi-form theater at sea. It will transform into four different configurations – a traditional Proscenium stage, an alley stage used in fashion shows, a dance flat-floor configuration, and finally a unique reverse stage setup. This first at-sea theater will enable Virgin Voyages to create completely different experiences for each day of the voyage.
Scarlet Lady will feature six original shows that include a soon to be announced production by award-winning producer Randy Weiner (Queen of the Night, The Donkey Show, Sleep No More).
Sam Pinkleton & Ani Taj have created a hype music video disguised as an absurdist style dance party, called UNTITLED DANCESHOWPARTYTHING.
Phantom Folktales is a collection of song driven micro plays throughout the ship that seemingly appear out of thin air, and disappear just as quickly, created by PigPen Theatre Co.
Ships in the Night is an emotion-filled contemporary experience telling its story through the use of cutting edge digital projection interwoven with the authenticity of the human condition, and Duel Reality examines the age-old tale of Romeo & Juliet with a modern twist featuring acrobatic storytelling. Both performances were made possible through our collaboration with the innovative circus company, The 7 Fingers.
Never Sleep Alone is a participatory show featuring the hysterically funny, straight-talking relationship therapist, Dr. Alex Shiller, by producers Roslyn Hart and Alfredo Guenzani.
Additionally the creative development, production and installation of “happenings” that will take place throughout the ship were created by Spark Cooperative.
To add to the overall vision, Tony Award winning creative producer, Jenny Gersten, will serve as an artistic and production liaison between the core in-house Virgin Voyages Entertainment team and other members of the Collective.
Sir Richard Branson’s Birthday Voyage
Sir Richard Branson will celebrate his birthday bash among celebrity friends and fellow Sailors aboard a four-night Havana After Dark voyage departing July 15, 2020. Sailors are invited to book their passage aboard this one-of-a-kind trip by visiting www.virginvoyages.com. Sailors willing to test their luck can enter for a chance to win a cabin for two now through March 31, 2019 by visiting RichardsBirthday.VirginVoyages.com.
Scarlet Lady is a boutique-style, mid-sized ship designed to reflect a yacht’s sleek luxury and will set sail from PortMiami for her 2020 inaugural season on unforgettable four and five-night voyages to Havana, Cuba; Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic and Costa Maya, Mexico.
Future sailors and travel partners are invited to check out Virgin Voyages by visiting www.virginvoyages.com or following @virginvoyages on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn.

I was tagged by the lovely and quixotic @markwatneyandensemble — here goes!
1. recommend three of your favorite songs: “I’ve Been Waiting,” Matthew Sweet; “Cigarettes and Redvines,” Aimee Mann; “Gigantic,” Pixies
2. favorite fic? how dare you make me choose between my many sons??? OK but — I am right now living in fear/dread/near-paralyzing anticipation of every micro-installment of @all-these-ghosts current series
3. what is your least favorite color? whatever color the humanoid garbage fire in the White House happens to have sprayed his face today
4. if you could meet anyone in the whole world, who would it be? An extremely good, supernaturally stealthy assassin who’s in the mood for a few freelance prompts.
5. if you could erase 1 character from any show what would it be? Diana Fowley [she says, surprising precisely no one]
6. what is one relatively common food that, if given the opportunity, you would never eat for the rest of your life? bananas. Kill them all with fire. But please wait till I’ve left the area; I don’t want to smell the banana fire any more than I want to smell actual bananas.
7. the most memorable or emotional book you’ve ever read? I remember when I was about seven, sobbing so hard I thought my soul was going to come out my tear ducts at the end of Charlotte’s Web which … is about the death of a fucking spider. Now if that ain’t a work of Dark Wizardry on E.B. White’s part, I can’t imagine what is. I’m the most arachnophobic person who ever lived.
8. are you against pineapple pizza? With every atom of my soul, yes.
9. describe your perfect day? I get to sleep till the decadently late hour of, like, 7:30 a.m. The coffee is fresh and piping hot and there’s half-and-half and sugar ready to go. My kids are in good moods and not trying to push each other’s stomachs in; my H takes care of loading the cooler and getting everyone sunscreened up. We head down to the beach and get to have our favorite cabana. Nobody looks at me funny when I crack my first ice cold beach beer at 9:15 a.m. I get to read for at least a couple hours. My new assassin friend texts from a burner phone: LOL GONNA NEED A NEW PREZ NOW. Nobody whines at me at all, even once. I don’t have to think of what to have for lunch OR dinner. The kids go right to sleep, the H and I get busy, then fall asleep exhausted and sore in all the good ways. My dreams are all blissfully full of gillovny.
10. what are you most proud of? overcoming my youthful religion-based indoctrination in the ways of racism, sexism, and homophobia.
11. what was the worst teacher you ever had like? This race-baiting shit-stirring know-nothing ignoramus fuckwit of a U.S. Government teacher in 11th grade — forever trying to go toe-to-toe with me (because I would fight him, you’re goddamn right I did), teaching us nothing, looking up girls’ skirts when he “dropped the chalk,” telling racist jokes to “illustrate” lessons from history — fuck that fucking guy. I hope he died alone before he could vote for the HGF.
so! On that note, here’s some Qs for the next set of funsters, @jemmaredgay, @medicaldoctordana @guitargirl48 @wholeperson @storybycorey @gillianandersunflower @kateyes224 @lanalikesnobanana @youokay-mulder @lostlastsforever756 @bedeliadumaurier @becksndot5 @funtasteec
Who is one of your Regrettable Celebrity Crushes?
Does the state of your hair affect your mood?
What is your opinion of pigs (the animal, not the derogatory slang term for police)?
Have you ever walked out of a movie in the theater, and if so what was it, and why?
What was your ninth-grade best friend like? Are you still friends or at least friendly with her or him?
What’s the most shocking thing anyone’s ever said to you directly, or right in front of you?
If you had to choose the universe of a TV series to live in (forever), which one would it be and why?
How many of Margaret Atwood’s books have you read?
Which summer was the greatest one of your life so far?
What are you looking for or noticing when you spend time in a house you’ve never been in before? (e.g. a new friend’s house)
Tell us a line from a fic that has stuck with you.
