i had the thought a bit ago that since they make trees out of themselves when they die, perhaps they should start from trees too. grow a baby out of a birch or something.

@lemontarto said they should combine the parents' hair with a seed to plant like a reverse wanderling, which I think is the answer that would fit best with canon even if not technically asexual (since it uses genetic material of at least 2 parents)

I was about to say "could you imagine if there was just clones of everybody running around? like a hundred or so identical appearances and that was it?" but then I remembered someone pointed out that the kids are very frequently described as looking very similar to their parents....connecting the DNA dots...

To my knowledge, which may be failing me, Gethen's personal thoughts on spandex are never specified.

However, given that he's a member of the Neverseen, a group that rather universally and historically despises humans, I would assume that his opinions on them are also less than positive. And by extension, that would include human fashion and the existence of spandex shorts.

you know, I didn’t really know where I was going with that ask. I’ve spent many a day regretting not sending it on anon. I think it was created from my visceral hatred of sokeefe and trying to come up with some other explanation for their sokeef-y behavior in canon. I actually planned out a whole fic for them, but I was terrified of actually talking about it publicly because of how people treat other ships with a dubious age gap.

I know a lot of people have gotten annoyed by Ro as more and more of her personality becomes Sokeefe- basically, it’s a toxic yuri Sokeefe alternative. Ah don't worry, you're good! Well, I can't speak for anyone else in the fandom, but at least with me you're alright. It's fiction. Do what you want; others can chose to block tags/not engage. You don't need to justify it

You bring up several great points! I'd also add that part of Sophie's story is that she's been introduced to the elven world, is trying to adjust, but finds that there are parts she doesn't mesh with. espeically when it comes to matchmaking. Rejecting that total conformity by turning instead to Ro, who would embrace her more for her oddities (though likely with a lot of teasing) could work well for that arc. Though if you're leaning further into the toxic aspect you could use that teasing as a basis. How Ro both understands her better than anyone (for many of the reasons you listed) and yet also never will understand her enough (because Sophie will always be too human).

If we're incorporating the sokeefe aspect into it, you could use that as telling of an unhealthy obsession. Ro getting so invested because she imagines herself as Keefe and wants to live vicariously through them, and ends up overstepping boundaries and making them uncomfortable in her imaginary pursuit. Great basis for a relationship 👍(lying)

There's certainly a lot to work with, however you want to take it! I only asked about the crackship thing because I have been sent several before, but it didn't seem the same, so I just wanted to verify :)

For over 15 years, Tiergan had lived with the guilt of Prentice's mind breaking. Obviously, he knew it wasnt in any way his fault, but something at the back of his mind always made him wonder if maybe he could have done something about it.

It was a lot to have to come to terms with, but over the years, he had slowly become numb to what happened. Gone were the days of bargaining and negotiating, desperately trying to change the Council's mind. Now all he had left to cling to was the hope that Sophie could heal Prentice, that he would wake up and things could go back to how they were before.

But this wasn't Before. It was After, and so much had changed- Cyrah was murdered, Wylie had grown up- and Tiergan didn't know how Prentice would cope, if the overwhelming shock and grief would shatter him once more. He didn't even know if there was enough of Prentice left to bring him back. And in a way, the uncertainty was worse than anything else Tiergan could imagine.

okay, so I have a theory that alvar died the night of the troll hive shenanigans and that in all his later appearances, hes been possessed by the ghost of umber, who is piloting around alvars dead body. i haven't read the books in a while though, so idk how much canon supports this. thoughts?

(although, knowing me its probably no surprise that i came up with this theory. im desperate for my blorbo to be alive :'))

As someone who has read the books many times, I don't believe there's any canon support for this. Doesn't mean you can't theorize about it! I just can't think of anything truly concrete that would help you out, it would all be extreme stretches of canon and introducing your own ideas to how canon works.

Like we could say that with the existence of the shadowplane (introduced in book 9), perhaps talented shades have a unique way of storing a part of themself away there, which Umber was able to do until another body was available for her to inhabit (Alvar).

Or that since shadowflux changes everything it touches, perhaps Umber's prolonged, repeated exposure and interaction with it has enabled her in some way to separate body from consciousness, meaning her body died but her consciousness didn't, and she put her consciousness in Alvar's.

The focus on consciousness does seem like more of telepath thing, but it is said that shades and telepaths do have a fair bit of overlap in their abilities. For example, the shadow whispering. A piece of your conscious goes into your shadow and can talk to another, so perhaps Umber put all of her consciousness in her shadow and transferred it to Alvar's body. Or to shadows/the shadowplane and then to Alvar's body once it because available

However, all of those are quite stretched and probably wishful thinking. She was killed very quickly, so unless she had prepared ahead of time, I don't think she'd have the time to do anything. And there's been no indication that ghosts or possession are real in the keeper world (however there have been other surprises, like Elysian, so maybe they are). We've also interacted with Alvar after her death, and he behaves like himself and has knowledge specific to Alvar. Yes, it's possible Umber somehow access his memories and is pretending. It's just a lot of hoops to jump through to think otherwise

Essentially, while I am sorry that you've lost a blorbo, I really don't think she's still alive, nor that there's any concrete support for her to still be alive in canon. Of course there's the slim possibility all these stretches are true, but I wouldn't get my hopes up, unfortunately </3
