paracosm drabble, magpie sunflare & precipice, 308 words, mostly dialogue lol
"Wait. Oh no. Is that Magpie? Is he back already? Oh no. Precipice. Precipice, you have to hide me." "Who are we hiding from?" Magpie asked from behind him.
Sunflare froze. He looked to Precipice desperately, but she just shrugged at him. Traitor. Sunflare squeezed his eyes shut and slowly turned around. "Hi, Magpie. I've been informed you might bludgeon me with a pipe." "...Why would I do that." Magpie asked flatly, mask giving no indication to his current emotional state. "Ronan said you were mad." "He exaggerates," Magpie waved his hand dismissively, then tilted his head, considering Sunflare with his disturbingly perceptive gaze. "Are you hurt? Don't answer that. Precipice, hand me his medical report." "You think I have that on hand?" Precipice asked, which slightly redeems her. Sort of. Maybe. No, actually. He takes it back. He's still mad, he decides. "You knew I was coming." Sunflares muttered, "Traitor," goes unacknowledged. "Ugh. I did. I hate how you have all of us conditioned to have exactly what you need on hand," Precipice said, disgusted. "I did nothing," Magpie objected, offense leaking into his voice. She rolled her eyes and handed him Sunflare's medical report. This was a mutiny of the highest degree. He'd have to think of some dastardly plot to avenge himself. This cannot go unpunished. Magpie flipped through the pages of the report, skimming for a few moments before moving on. Eventually he looked up and pinned Sunflare into place with a glare he could feel behind the goggles. "Sit down. You have a fractured ankle," he commanded. Then, addressing Precipice, he asked, "Why is he standing up? Who allowed this? Where is Ronan."

For my next Monster AU art, here's the Snack Pack in their monster looks. Composed of DJ Suki, Cooper, Smidge, Biggie, Guy Diamond, Satin and Chenille, Legsly, Fuzzbert, and Prince Darnell, they are one of the pack of friends that Poppy, Branch, and Rose would lead in their fright-outs whenever they give humans nightmares by eating or scaring them out of their socks. I put them in their hard rock outfits or disguises and add some monstrous details to it.
The first founding members of the team, DJ Suki, Cooper, Smidge, Biggie, Guy Diamond, Satin and Chenille, and Fuzzbert are the first to become friends with Poppy and Rose, later Branch. They first met the two close beast friends when they and several monsters sought shelter in Nevermore Castle and the territories near it after running away from a monster hunter, who turned out to be Chef. As they grow up with the two monstresses, they soon form the Snack Pack, with Branch later joining them. Legsly is the only one to be added after Rose raised her from the grave while Darnell later joined the group at chapter 3.
DJ Suki is a banshee, so she can fly and float, hear things outside the range of normal perception, solid to intangibility shifting and vice versa, precogniciton, and her signature banshee scream, which she shares with her aunts and her niece, CJ Suki.
Cooper and Darnell are plant monsters, since their parents are also plant monsters, with Essence being born from a seed of a corpse flower and Quincy is born from a seed of a monster tree, making them based on different plants. Like their parents, the funky plant brothers can control vegetation, communicate with plants, and create pollen out of their mouths or their vine hairs to control anyone but they can control one individual at a time. After escaping from the monster hunter, the twins and their parents stayed with Celestia, Rose and the Nevermore Clan until they were given an abandoned mansion as their own home.
Smidge is a transgender goblin with super strength, despite her size. As a member of the Pukwudgie clan, Smidge is trained among her tribe to become a warrior but things went south when they were attacked by the same monster hunter and she and her family escaped to Nevermore Castle with the other monsters. There, she met Rose and Poppy, who later befriended her and soon, she used her superhuman strength to good use on the humans.
Biggie, on the other hand is a type of monster called a Hyde, which is a monster that transform into their beast form with long claws, fanged teeth, and immense strength, mobility, and resilience, but he is able to transform properly like his older brother, who he only had after their parents were killed by the same monster hunter that killed the other Snack Pack members’ parents. He is always accompanied by his pet ectoplasmic goo dog, Mr. Dinkles and he only transforms when he needs to protect his friends from monster hunters and hordes of angry humans.
Since I HC Guy Diamond as South Asian, he would be a yeti, like Abbey Bominable in Monster High. He and his family migrated from the snowy mountains of Mount Everest to their new home but the parents were killed by the same monster hunter, leaving their daughters and Guy, who hasn't got the transition yet, to escape and find refuge in Nevermore Castle, where he met Rose and Poppy. Years after transitioning to male, Guy Diamond felt more confident in himself that he becomes the life of the party and the resident drama king. He had a lot of boyfriends and male lovers until he got pregnant after a one-night stand with a male yeti and had baby Tiny. Like all yetis, he has cryokinesis, superhuman strength, and has the ability to shift his size. Tiny, who is just a baby yeti, is still learning how to use his powers so it would be unpredictable
Since Satin and Chenille are Japanese in my human Au, they'd be the jorōgumo in my monster Au. The twins, alongside Fuzzbert are immigrants from Japan but they lost their parents because of a monster hunter, which caused them to seek refuge with Rose’s vampire clan. Having a venomous bite, three arms, an endless supply of silk threads, and the ability to crawl on walls and ceiling is extremely useful for the two. They can weave fabrics, sew and make clothes and multitask while at the same time, catch their prey.
Fuzzbert is a werecat who is the silent member of the group, due to a medical condition that rendered him mute. He lost his parents because of the same monster hunter and ended up living in the Nevermore Castle. Despite not being able to speak, he is a skilled climber and hunter, due to his cat physiology and superhuman condition.
Legsly, on the other hand, is a zombie in the monster Au. She became a new member of the Snack Pack after she was raised from the ground by Rose, who was practicing vampiric magic. Unlike all zombies, she retained sapience after the transformation but she can still absorb memories and gain skills and abilities through eating the brains of humans.
Here’s an alternate Biggie pic with his pet Mr. Dinkles as an ectoplasmic goo Pomeranian.

First Character of the world of Nevermore: Sven the Mayor
Pre mayor, he was just a simple half orc (50% human) who just so happened to be born in a town called Dergun: where the tradiornal orcs are born as strong warriors and bring honors to their names, family and overall elders.Of course, he never was that strong nor interested in violence as he wanted to give encourage and inspire people with music. However, realizing he would never be safe to make music in the town (with his childhood friend also in it), he had to flee the town by the time he was around 10 to be safe. He traveled on his own, from the forest and across the land until he safely arrived to a small town called FaeHaven where he was able to not only craft his own talent in music, but be able to perform them and live a stable life out of town to Farm and grow. Though it didn't take long for his town to be under attack, where he and many citizens did their best to fight it with great success, but without many falling and the town in ruins. Having to pick themselves up, Sven had to step up to be the next mayor as he was willing to do anything to be safe.Eventually, with the trust of the citizen, he was able to help raise money and rebuild the town to be more stable as a town of "Nevermore": where it's a haven for those in need. He did have to overcome his past of being in a strict environment, and make up with his childhood friend that reappeared as his partner to support this new town, despite having sven help them relearn peace in the world, and protect any sorts of wrong doings and sanctuary for those in need (And raise their daughter in)
That's the sum of it, I'll be sure to make a new character explanation @ next week to motivate myself.

"On Good-Friday that event happened in Caithness that a man whose name was Daurrud went out.
He saw folk riding twelve together to a bower, and there they were all lost to his sight.
He went to that bower and looked in through a window slit that was in it, and saw that there were women inside, and they had set up a loom.
Men's heads were the weights, but men's entrails were the warp and weft, a sword was the shuttle, and the reels were arrows. They sang these songs, and he learnt them by heart:
"See! warp is stretched For warriors' fall, Lo! weft in loom
'Tis wet with blood; Now fight foreboding, 'Neath friends' swift fingers, Our grey woof waxeth With war's alarms, Our warp bloodred, Our weft corseblue.
"This woof is y-woven With entrails of men, This warp is hardweighted With heads of the slain, Spears blood-besprinkled For spindles we use, Our loom ironbound, And arrows our reels; With swords for our shuttles This war-woof we work; So weave we, weird sisters, Our warwinning woof.
"Now Warwinner walketh To weave in her turn, Now Swordswinger steppeth, Now Swiftstroke, now Storm; When they speed the shuttle How spearheads shall flash! Shields crash, and helmgnawer On harness bite hard!
"Wind we, wind swiftly Our warwinning woof Woof erst for king youthful Foredoomed as his own, Forth now we will ride, Then through the ranks rushing Be busy where friends Blows blithe give and take.
"Wind we, wind swiftly Our warwinning woof, After that let us steadfastly Stand by the brave king; Then men shall mark mournful Their shields red with gore, How Swordstroke and Spearthrust Stood stout by the prince.
"Wind we, wind swiftly Our warwinning woof. When sword-bearing rovers To banners rush on, Mind, maidens, we spare not One life in the fray! We corse-choosing sisters Have charge of the slain.
"Now new-coming nations That island shall rule, Who on outlying headlands Abode ere the fight; I say that King mighty To death now is done, Now low before spearpoint That Earl bows his head.
"Soon over all Ersemen Sharp sorrow shall fall, That woe to those warriors Shall wane nevermore; Our woof now is woven. Now battlefield waste, O'er land and o'er water War tidings shall leap.
"Now surely 'tis gruesome To gaze all around. When bloodred through heaven Drives cloudrack o'er head; Air soon shall be deep hued With dying men's blood When this our spaedom Comes speedy to pass.
"So cheerily chant we Charms for the young king, Come maidens lift loudly His warwinning lay; Let him who now listens Learn well with his ears And gladden brave swordsmen With bursts of war's song.
"Now mount we our horses, Now bare we our brands, Now haste we hard, maidens, Hence far, far, away."
Then they plucked down the woof and tore it asunder, and each kept what she had hold of.
Now Daurrud goes away from the slit, and home; but they got on their steeds and rode six to the south, and the other six to the north. A like event befell Brand Gneisti's son in the Faroe Isles."

Giant’s Causeway
Richard Burke
T'was a boastful warrior's roar, From Ireland's coast to Scotland's shore; In Antrim you'll ney longer plunder, Vowed Finn McCool to Benandonner.
With that McCool piled stone on stone, And made a causeway of his own; The Sea of Moyle, forty fathoms deep, He now could cross by jump and leap.
But Finn could not believe his eyes, When first he saw Benandonner's size; Wide as a barn, six metres tall, He'd best McCool in any brawl.
Finn was quick to regret his boast, And turned his back to Scotland's coast; But Benandonner McCool had spied, And chased him now with ten-foot stride.
Finn just barely made his house, And yelled for Ooneh, his clever spouse; I bit off more than I can chew, Where can I hide, what can I do?
Ooneh then threw him in a bed, And covered him from toe to head; Trust me Finn, don't make a sound, I'll deal with Benandonner if he comes round.
She had not very long to wait, Benandonner easily jumped their gate, And pounded on Ooneh's cottage door, "With Finn McCool, I'll mop your floor! "
Be calm my friend, McCool's not here, He's gone to Kerry to hunt for deer, But he'll be back fore day is out; Come in and tell me - what's this about?
Benandonner came in and looked around, Curious about the things he found: What tree sized pole is lying here? Said Ooneh, that's just my husband's spear.
And that block of oak, wide as a wheel, And longer than a sailboat's keel? Oh that, it's just the fighting shield, Finn uses on the battlefield.
Your garden has boulders scattered round, Each one must weigh a thousand pounds. Oh, Finn tosses those for hours on end, Just playing catch with his best friend.
It looks like Finn is running late, Will you try a biscuit while you wait? The biscuit's crust hid iron beneath, On his first bite he broke three teeth.
Who is that lying in that bed, That looks eight feet from toe to head? Why that's only Finn's and my new bairn, In baby clothes all McCools have worn.
One peek below the blanket's fold, And the giant's blood ran icy cold; The Giant was quick to understand, If this be the babe, how big the man!
Benandonner then rethought his plight, No longer sure he'd win the fight; Said he, the tide's now running low, To make the crossing, I'll have to go.
With that he bolted through the door; Ran like lightning to reach the shore; Dashed across the stones once more; And swore he'd be back nevermore!
McCool then leapt up from his bed, And followed the Giant while he fled; But when he reached the Antrim coast, He dared not repeat his foolish boast.
Instead, he gathered each stone he'd thrown, And stacked them in columns, why is not known, But remnants remain to this very day, Known to all as the Giant's Causeway!

Yang: (Watching TV with Blake) So, how'd the date go?
Ruby: (Slumps onto the couch) Awful! I can never show my face in town again!
Weiss: (Drinking tea) Oh, I'm sure it wasn't that bad.
Ruby: It was.
Yang: Was Jaune that bad?
Ruby: (Head in her hands) It wasn't Jaune.
Blake: Who was it?
Ruby: (Covers her face) It was me! I ruined the date!
Yang: Whoa! Slow down, Rubes! Just tell us what happened.
Ruby: Okay...
He picked me up at eight. My heart is racing because I'm on my first date. He looked so valiant as we walked into the restaurant. He started to talk, and I just smiled and nod~.
Yang: So far so good.
Ruby: We haven't gotten to the bad part yet.
Weiss: Well, what did he talk about?
He told me about his life, but I was lost inside his oceanic eyes. Our hands touched briefly as the light reflected off his golden hair. A strong electric charge was in the air~.
Yang: Ooh, spicy!
Ruby: (Blushing) Sh-Shut up!
Blake: How was the meal?
Ruby: Really good! I'm glad you recommended it.
Yang: What happened next?
It was ten o'clock, and the meal is done, but our conversation had just begun. He's fascinating, and I feel blessed, but I have to be honest~.
Weiss: What'd you do? Did you say something wrong?
Ruby: (Blushing) I don't know.
Blake: Why not?
Ruby: (Sheepishly) Well, that's the thing...
I don't know what we were talking about, and I hadn't for a while~!
Yang: Oh, no...
Ruby: Mhm...
I don't know what we were talking about, and I hadn't for a while~!
Yang: Oh, Ruby...
Ruby: I couldn't help it! His stupid, pretty boy face distracted me!
Blake: Really?
Ruby: (Blushing) Yes, shut up!
Weiss: So, what did you do when you realized you screwed up?
Ruby: Well, what happened next...
My eyes were open wide. He spoke with passion, but I was panicking inside~!
Weiss: What could distract you, a trained Huntress and warrior, from something as simple as dinner conversation?
See, I was daydreaming about a Nevermore named Tyrone. When he's by himself, he sings alone~.
Weiss: Of course you did.
Blake: What did Tyrone do?
Weiss: Are you seriously indulging this?
He has to get to work on time, his let's play job is on the line! His boss is always on his back. Why can't he cut Tyrone some slack~?!
Weiss: You were distracted by childhood fantasy.
Blake: I've been there.
Weiss: What do you mean?
Blake: Yang, do you remember our date last week?
Yang: Yeah?
Blake: Well...
I don't know what we were talking about, and I hadn't for a while~!
Yang: (Chuckles) That's fine, Blake, because you see...
I don't know what we were talking about, and I hadn't for a while~!
Weiss: Do you remember anything about what he was saying?
Ruby: Well, he was pretty distracting, but...
I'm pretty sure he was telling me about his new job~.
Weiss: Stop trying to make yourself look good!
I'm not absolving anything~!
Yang: What'd you do for the conversation?
Smiled and nod~!
Weiss: Of course you did.
I was thinking about ladders. If I tell him, is it odd? It was my turn to talk, but he was looking at me~!
OH GOD!
Focus!
Focus!
Yang: What distracted you that time?!
Uh, penguin in a costume~!?
Blake: Anything else?
How many Geists are hiding in this room~?
Weiss: ...Any other stupid thoughts?
Ozpin must have been so very handsome in his prime~.
Weiss: (Gets up) I'm out!
I'd make an awesome cop if I could stop committing crimes~!
Yang: Weiss, where are you going?!
I don't know what we were talking about...
Weiss: I'm totally at a loss for words for all of this...
I don't know what we were talking about...
Yang: I- Blake, what's going on?
I don't know what we were talking about, and I hadn't for a while!
Blake: (Takes Ruby's scroll) Salvaging this ship!
Ruby: Hey!
Tyrone had to work overtime! AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO CARES ABOUT THIS?!
Ruby: (Scroll buzzes) It's Jaune!
Blake: What did he say?
Yang: Let me see!
Jaune: (Text) Hey, sorry if I was boring tonight. To be honest, I felt like I talked more than you, so I must have not heard anything you said. Y'see...
I don't know what we were talking about, and I hadn't for a while!
Ruby: (Texts) Second date?

Time Does Not Heal (find a new hobby)
ao3
Ozpin might be a fiend, a monster, a mad man. He is not a bad father. ------------------------
It was repulsive, how Salem continued to pretend to be the hero.
Only the two of them were alive to remember the argument that had started it all. Ozma, the second one, the reincarnated one, had told Salem about his mission given to him by the God of Creation, of uniting humanity. About the relics that would summon the Gods back to Earth, about how they would destroy humanity if they were divided.
About how Ozma didn’t want the Gods to return at all.
The Gods had taken nothing from humanity that they would miss. What was missing? Magic? Magic had only allowed humans to make more atrocities than they did now. Humanity was divided even before the Gods left; Ozpin still remembered the war between his people and the Nome King, the Sacking of Emerald City, the Battle of the Poppy Fields. He had faced a million and one tragedies created by man and man alone and the so-called Gods had done nothing.
Salem hadn’t seen it that way. Even after all their travels together, turning the first humans against the Gods, years of isolation, she was still the girl in the tower. The girl who was raised alone, innocent to everything in the world. She had no idea what humanity was truly like, she didn’t know how foolish it was to try to bring the Gods back.
But Salem… wanted to die. Even with Ozma back, she’d spent so much time alone that it was second nature to seek death.
When Ozma had bundled up their children in an escape, she had found them. She took it as a betrayal and destroyed everything they had shared, had loved. But Salem couldn’t kill him.
No, instead she had thrown him into the Grimm pits in hope that they would rob him of immortality.
Blistering hate surged through Ozpin at the memory. She had been foolish; instead of robbing him of his life everlasting, the pit had corrupted him. He had evolved to a higher plain of being, into a beast that wanted nothing more than to torture Salem for all eterenty. And he couldn’t torture her if she wasn’t alive.
Ozma sent armies against her. First the Grimm, who he controlled ever since his corruption. Then his Maidens, the souls of his first four followers granted magic and the ability to transfer their power after death. Admittedly, their transfer was far too close to his own and too random for his Maidens to always be on his side - sometimes Salem got to them first and claimed she had made the Maidens, taking credit for his work - but they were usually easy enough to convince. After all, what mortal doesn’t want to stop a woman from destroying Remnant?
Unfortunately, Salem is a good liar. She had convinced her allies that he wanted to see humanity suffer for eternity - which wasn’t too far off the mark, actually - and that he needed to be defeated. Bold of her to assume he could be defeated, but every silver-eyed warrior on her side believed he could. The silver-eyes were firmly in Salem’s pocket; they were her most beloved and trusted allies, so Oz destroyed them.
Which was why Ozpin was on this small island named Patch in Vale. All but one silver-eyed warrior had been murdered by his subordinates, assassins and bounty-hunters that he paid handsomely for each head delivered. He had decided to kill the last one himself: Summer Rose, a persistent thorn in his side. It felt only fitting to prune such a rose himself.
Ozpin approached the home that contained his target. With him came an early-morning storm, to darken the sky and set the mood. One of his Nevermores had spied on the woman for the past few days, reporting that she lived there with her family. Evidence of a child was all over the lawn - toys thrown about, a bicycle leaning against the house, a swing set visible from around the back. He frowned. He hadn’t wanted to get a child involved. It wouldn’t stop him, but he didn’t want one involved.
Hiding himself from all eyes with his magic, Ozpin infiltrated the house, the early morning darkness covering his entry. He left the backdoor wide open. The inside, a kitchen, was as messy as the yard, with more toys, and a flash of an old memory - a playroom in a castle, little hands pulling on his robes, Daddy, Daddy! - steals his attention for a moment. He shakes his head. There was no time for old ghosts now.
The kitchen led to a living room and Ozpin stepped around a medley of toys and weapon on the floor. On the couch snored a man with dark hair; Qrow Branwen, if he remembered correctly. The twin brother of one of Summer Rose’s partners. Another person who wouldn’t leave the house alive.
The stairs creaked under his weight. No sign of movement, no sign of anyone awake. The bedroom he was looking for was at the end of the hall- He paused. Ozpin could just barely hear it, even with his Grimm-enhanced hearing. The smallest whimper of a baby about to wail.
Automatically, Ozpin entered a room that wasn’t the master bedroom, throwing up a quick silencing spell so the rest of the house couldn’t hear him. It was a nursery, with a crib by the windows - a safety hazard, Ozpin thought idly as he approached. The whimpering belonged to a little baby, no more than six months old. It was clearly the child of Summer Rose; the infant looked just like its mother, down to the same, detestable eyes.
Well, that explained why Summer Rose had stayed still long enough for Ozpin to track down her residence.
His invisibility dropping, Ozpin picked up the baby. It stared up at him with watery, silver eyes and Ozpin cradled them against his chest, hiding his face lest he scare it. His fall in the Grimm pits left him pale and scarred with black veins that reappeared with each reincarnation. He swayed to soothe the child back to sleep, humming under his breath.
Ozpin wanted to move on, but his memories wouldn’t let him.
Ozma scooped up his youngest daughter, cradling her to his chest. The toddler babbled about anything and everything, and Ozma kept nodding along as he took Dorthey back to her room. “You need to go back to sleep now, Princess.” He and her mother were gods; of course their children would be princesses.
Dorthey pouted, but didn’t argue. “Kiss?” she asked.
Ozma smiled. “Of course,” he said and kissed her forehead.
“Toto kiss too?” She offered him her stuffed dog and laughed as he kissed Toto too, her silver eyes glittering.
Silver eyes. Like his daughters’.
Salem always used their daughters’ eyes as a weapon against him, he realized as he held one of the silver-eyed warriors.
The child didn’t feel like a warrior. She was fat and squishy, like all babies should be at her age. She wasn’t a weapon against him, not yet anyway. But she would be one. He might be able to avoid her silver gaze for now, but sooner or later…
Still, he found himself reluctant to waste the child.
Their sniffling stopped and looked up at him, no trace of fear in his eyes. Distantly, he recognized the sound of someone getting up and walking down the hall, but ignored it.
He had come here to kill Summer Rose, but found himself suddenly reluctant. Not out of any sympathy for the woman, but because he would have to kill her child as well, permanently eradicating his daughter’s eyes from the planet. He held the child closer to his chest. He’d killed many silver-eyed warriors, but never a child…
Oz had raised children before; a few of his medley of souls had children before he assimilated into them, though he never raised a child once Oz fully incorporated himself into his consciousness. It had been several lives since he’d even held a child.
The baby cooed softly, reaching a little hand up to touch Ozpin’s face. They looked like a copy of Summer Rose, with red highlights in their black hair. They were dressed in a red onesie too; a ruby-red rose, ripe to be plucked.
Such a sweet baby, he mused as he prodded one chubby cheek. Too sweet to be his enemy one day, too sweet to die with their family.
It was their eyes that made his decision for him. Kind eyes without a trase of fear, just trust. Like his little Dorthey.
Well, it wasn’t like he was below a little kidnapping.
Ozpin placed a hand over the baby’s head and whispered a spell in their ear. The child went limp in his arms, sinking into sleep. They were young enough not to need a memory spell, thankfully; Ozpin didn’t know if he’d be able to case one anyway with his limited magic.
He’d have to redecorate his castle, he realized as giddiness rose in him. There weren’t any rooms suitable for a nursery. It must be close to his own quarters too, so he could look after them. He could try to make a nanny-Grimm, for when he was too busy? But Grimm were instinctual creatures; even if he ordered them all not to harm the child - which he definitely would - there was a chance for error. Besides, he didn’t want to lose a valuable creature if their silver eyes activated.
Maybe he could have Watts create a robot nanny? Hazel could babysit while he got it done…
The door behind him slammed open. “Ruby!!” Ozpin stood calmly as Qrow Branwen and his sister, Raven Branwen, rushed into the room.
So, his new daughter’s name was Ruby. A pretty name. It suited her.
It took the Branwens a second to comprehend what was in front of them. He was sure it was rather shocking to them, being slaves to Salem’s whim, seeing their worst enemy not only in their house, but holding one of their children. His heart truly went out to them.
But, they were between him and the exit…
Raven’s face twisted with fury, drawing her katana. “Put her down,” she snarled.
Ozpin cocked an eyebrow. “No.” If anything, she should be grateful that he never set Ruby down. If it wasn’t for her, everyone in the house would be dead by now.
The twins didn’t seem to like that answer. They readied their weapons, with both Raven and Qrow about to-
Raven and Qrow…
Raven and Crow…
Ozpin smirked and a wave of magic erupted from his body and slammed into the Branwens. Lightning flashed through the window as the two collapsed, coughing desperately. Raven’s face was a mix of pain and hatred as her bones crunched and grinded against each other.
Qrow Branwen collapsed to his knees, holding his throat. “What- What did you do-!?” He spat out a mass of feathers.
Ozpin smiled. “I thought it funny for you two to… resemble your name-sakes a tad more.” They couldn’t stop their screams as their bodies contorted grotesquely, though Raven certainly tried to keep silent. Within minutes, the Branwen twins had been transformed into birds, a raven and a crow, he thought with sick delight.
Raven tried to dive-bomb him, screeching, but she was easily avoided. Ozpin tsked as he swatted the bird away and cuddled the sleeping Ruby closer to his chest. He ran his fingers through her fine hair. “Come now, dear. Let’s go home.”

How The JRY/Ace Ops + Winter Scene In RWBY V8E7 Could've Been Done Better
From the RWBY Volume 8 Midseason Trailer: ......................................................................... Winter and the Ace Ops are, presumably, heading towards the whale with that bomb. It looks ridiculous to me considering she’s all “CHARGE!!” and they’re shuffling along with this massive thing. But the size does tell us that no, this can’t be a quick in-and-out mission like some of us hypothesized before, nor will it be an easy stealth mission (which is perhaps off the table entirely given Winter’s yell). Whether Team JRY has gotten Oscar out yet, given the Ace Ops information about the whale layout, or if they’re still inside is unknown.
. In regards to the JRY and Winter + Ace Ops scene from RWBY Volume 8 Episode 7 "War", I think it could've been done better. Like, what we got was alright, but a little more thought could've made the whole scene a whole LOT better. This is what I mean. . I think it's cool that Ren's Semblance is evolving to where he can sense emotions in general. It fits. Plus, it gives him some more versatility with his Semblance. . My real issue with the whole Ren's speech scene is that I easily thought up of an obvious way that whole scene could've been improved. Like, it's so freaking obvious, so why didn't the writers think of it? The components are right there. Anyways, here's how that whole scene could've been improved. . I kind of like Ren's whole "no one is replaceable" speech, so I think keeping the "muh feelings" aspect is fine but it can be improved by adding some rationality and strategy to it. If the writers would allow Jaune to be competent (for once instead of always relegating him to inept cringy comic relief) , he could've come up with a brilliant plan that could've turned the tide like this. He could first ask Winter to patch him to Ironwood, saying that he has a plan that could save all of them. Winter reluctantly agrees and gets Ironwood on the line. Jaune explains his brilliant plan that could turn the tide: . Jaune: "General Ironwood, I've come to make a bargain, so that we can both get what we want. We want to save Oscar who's in that Grimm Whale and retrieve the Lamp but you're not going to let us go without a good reason. Ace Ops' mission is to get into that huge Grimm Whale and deliver a bomb so that it can hopefully kill it and save Atlas. But how are they going to get through the hundreds of Grimm surrounding the Whale while also carrying the heavy Bomb? And even if they could get past all of them and make it inside the Whale, we don't know what type of Grimm or who else could be inside the Whale or if the Whale could be able to sense them inside it. They don't have any clear shot of going through those Grimm undetected while carrying the Bomb. That's where we come in. Ren here has a Semblance that allows him to mask negative emotions, allowing him and those under his Semblance to be completely invisible to Grimm, walk right past them. Thing is, he can only use it on 2 people by himself. That's where I come in. My Semblance allows me to amplify Aura and you know that I can do a whole lot from there. I have lots of Aura and you know how strong my Amps are. I've tanked a hit from a Colossus mecha head on and kept on walking. I healed Weiss from nearly dying to a flaming spear to the liver and lungs from Cinder during the Battle of Haven. Ren, Yang, and I are low on Aura but with a few minutes of intense concentration, I can regenerate my Aura and subsequently their's as well. From there, I can Amp Ren and his Semblance, allowing him to mask dozens, even over a hundred. With Ren and I, we can mask the Ace Ops and get them through the Grimm and into the Whale undetected. With Ace Ops backing us, we can fight our way through Salem's forces inside the Whale, retrieve Oscar and the Lamp of Knowledge, and plant the Bomb with some boosting on my end for good measure. In order to get what we both want, we have to work together, in order to save Atlas and Mantle. So do we have a deal?" . There is some silence on the other end as Ironwood contemplates on Jaune's deal before making a decision. . Ironwood: "Very well Mr. Arc, we have a deal. Ace Ops, coordinate with Arc, Ren, and Xiao-Long for the Payload Mission. Ren and Arc are the only real vital assets we need to pull this off but Xiao-Long should be useful as extra muscle, provided she doesn't just betray us like last time. But keep this in mind. Whether you escape from the Whale with Oscar and the Relic or not in time, this Bomb WILL go off. I will not put the lives of thousands of Atlesians at risk for the sake of 4 people. So be prepared to take responsibility for your own lives." . Jaune: "Understood." . From there, everyone gets to work, preparing for the Mission. Ren uses his Semblance "Tranquility" on himself and Jaune so that Jaune can intensely focus on meditating and utilizing his extremely fast Hazel-level Aura Regeneration Factor. The other Ace Ops don't put up a fuss, because they've been there during training with Jaune and his friends, so they know that he's being truthful and accurate in his and Ren's capabilities and how they can help make their suicidal mission an actual success. I may have been a bit overly detailed with all that Jaune said in that but I wanted to avoid CRWBY’s tendency towards annoying vagueness and not have Jaune repeat his stupidly vague "Hit them harder" thing, so I kept it a bit detailed so that both Ironwood AND the audience can know exactly what Jaune is proposing and how it's plausible enough to be effective. So in that scene, Jaune was persuading not only Ironwood but the audience as well. Ironwood and Ace Ops know that they would need the help of Ren and Jaune in order to make the Bomb Mission a success and if that means helping them with finding Oscar and the Lamp, then it's an acceptable risk/compromise that works for both sides' favor. Given that the Grimm Whale "Monstra" (that's the official name for it by the way) is several times bigger than the previously largest shown Grimm, the Leviathan, there's not a strong possibility that whatever Dust Nuke that Ironwood and the Atlas Army was able to cook up at the last minute would be powerful enough to take out the Grimm Whale. Jaune using his Semblance to drastically Amplify the Dust inside the Dust Nuke would act as a logical action to take as his Semblance can be the lynchpin to making sure the Dust Nuke would be powerful enough to destroy a colossal size Grimm like the Monstra. Plus, this serves as payoff to all the set up with the Training Scenes in Volume 7, especially the one in RWBY Volume 7 Episode 6 "A Night Off" which showed Jaune training his extremely fast Hazel-level Aura Regeneration rate. Not only that but it more logically connects JRY's goal and Winter + Ace Ops goals together, which also helps from a screentime perspective. . Anyways, after Jaune has fully regenerated his Aura, he uses his Semblance to Amplify the Aura Regeneration rates of Ren, Yang, and even Winter and the other Ace Ops so that their Auras are more than full. From there, they pick up the large heavy Whale Killing Bomb and then disembark from the Bullhead when they reached the closest they could come. From there, they get out. Jaune touches the shoulders of Marrow and Winter, Amplifying them. Marrow uses his Amplified "Stay!" to freeze the Grimm Horde attacking Atlas, with hundreds of avian Grimm dropping from the skies due to paralysis. An Amplified Winter Summons hundreds of full sized and Giant sized Beowolves, Ursi, Goliaths, Gryphons, and Nevermores, with her army of Summons tearing through the paralyzed Grimm Horde. This serves as reinforcements to the frontlines of Atlas soldiers and Mechas who were struggling against the Grimm, with several of the avian Summons entering the city to tear through the Grimm that made it through. This continues for a few minutes before Jaune, Marrow, and Winter have to stop, with Winter's Summon Army dissipating. Tearing through those Grimm would only be good so far as the Grimm Whale wouldn't stop producing more and more Grimm. By this time, the reinforcements have given the frontlines enough breathing room that they can relaunch the offensive with a second wind. . From there, Yang, Elm Ederne, and Vine Zeki (with his Aura Vines) lift and carry the large, heavy Whale Killing Dust Bomb while Jaune stands with Marrow and Ren in front, touching their shoulders and using his Semblance to Amplify the both of them, so that Marrow could Paralyze any enemies they face and Ren could mask everyone's negative emotions along with using his new Emotion Sensing ability to keep track of Grimm and even provide some protective fire with StormFlower. Jaune, Ren, and Marrow act as vanguard while Yang, Elm, and Vine act as middleguard with carrying the Bomb, and Harriet Bree and Winter Schnee cover the rear, with each using their Semblances to quickly and stealthily take down any paralyzed Grimm or enemies that they encounter, both in the front and rear. With this formation, the group ventures forward through the belly of the beast. Anyways, other stuff happens, blah blah blah, Oscar and the Lamp are retrieved and the Bomb is planted and Jaune uses his Semblance on the Bomb itself, Amplifying the Dust inside. (If he can Amplify Aura and Semblances, then it only makes sense that he can also Amplify Dust which can enhance both Aura and Semblance as well, with the function of Jaune's Amps being akin to a more potent version of Coco's Semblance "Hype") . Meanwhile, Ruby somehow arrives inside the Whale as well. Salem is pissed and is ready to dish out her 5-Maidens-worth of Magic against them but Ruby uses her Silver Eye Burst. It doesn't really hurt or kill Salem, as she's probably faced hundreds of Silver Eyed Warriors in the past who were much stronger than Ruby, but it does succeed in distracting Salem enough to prevent her from instantly annihilating them all with her Magic. Using that distraction, Jaune grabs on to Ruby and Amplifies her Semblance, with Ruby using it to grab all of their allies and very quickly flies out of the Whale at Mach speeds, before depositing everyone outside near the frontlines. We then see Salem watch the Bomb detonate at ground zero, with the Amplified Dust Bomb utterly destroying the Whale and causing a massive shockwave to spread throughout the air. And that's how they could turn the tide. . Anyways, I'm not the only one who was thinking something as obvious as this, right? . To conclude, these are the reasons why this rewritten scenario of how the JRY and Winter + Ace Ops scene in RWBY Volume 8 Episode 7 "War" would've been a logical and obvious improvement over what we've got in the show...... FIRST, the additions here make it clear that JRY, Winter, and Ace Ops are teaming up together. This not only gets around splitting the screentime between JRY and Winter + Ace Ops by having it so that they're both together instead of splitting off. SECOND, it gives a logical reason for why JRY and Winter + Ace Ops would both try to go inside the Grimm Whale and more naturally facilitates a team up rather than them going separately. Also, in my scenario, I had it where Ironwood is actually contacted (instead of being kept in the dark) and is offered a logical plan that allows JRY and Winter + Ace Ops to team up so that they can both get what they want. Even with saving Atlas and Mantle being his foremost priority, Ironwood could recognize the importance of retrieving Oscar and the Lamp of Knowledge, and the fact that Jaune's offer of an alliance is not only logical and beneficial but also is one that is being offered to him straight rather than being done behind his back, makes the offer all the more enticing. Not only that but Ironwood and Ace Ops would already know that Jaune's claims are true and accurate because they've spent weeks training together. THIRD, everything I've pretty much outlined in the scenario not only payoffs what's been set up before in Volume 7 and 8 but also serves as a natural and logical solution  for the Good Guys to net out a victory and save Atlas and Mantle without requiring an Ass Pull or Deus Ex Machina. All the components are there to make it happen. FOURTH and finally, this would show JRY and Ironwood/Winter/Ace Ops putting aside their differences and working together to save Atlas and Mantle, which is a FAR contrast to Ruby "Sipping Tea While The Apocalypse Is Happening" Rose and her compatriots'' irrational irascible refusal to work together with Ironwood which only makes things worse for everyone.

8th Doctor - Season 4
4x01 Death in Blackpool - The story was great, but Lucie’s farewell was really rushed. There needed to be more build up to really show her feelings. They have been through way too much together to just be done after a like 2 minute talk. Made it seem forced.
4x1.5: An Earthly Child (I read a timeline suggesting to listen to it here, so I added it in.) This was so good, and honestly everything I needed after losing Lucie. Finally seeing the Doctor reunite with Susan was perfect.
4x02: Situation Vacant: I really liked the idea of a competition to be the Doctor’s new companion- really wish the competitors had been more interesting.
4x03: Nevermore: Interesting concept revolving around Poe’s works. Probably would have been 100% more enjoyable with Lucie. Tamsin is pretty boring so far, but maybe she just needs time. With so much poetry, I expected the Doctor to have more fun in this adventure- guess he must not be super excited about Tamsin either. Maybe once I get used to Tamsin I’ll listen to this one again and give it another chance.
4x04: THAT ENDING THOUGH. Most of the story was pretty boring, but knowing that ending, I actually went back to listen to it again and it was much better. Also, when are we getting the adventures of The Monk and Lucie Miller?
4x05-06 (Deimos and The Resurrection of Mars) The overall plot with the Ice Warriors is pretty basic, but at least we get the 8th Doctor doing an Icccce warrior impresssssion. That was gold. There are also some great philosophical questions about the greater good and how the Doctor has changed since being #7 (I think? I’m actually not sure what he was referencing when he was talking about traveling alone and getting out of hand. Hell, maybe retroactively they will have this refer to the Time Lord Victorious? More likely though, it is a reference to some EU stories with 7.) It also features the Monk and we finally get Lucie back! Honestly, the 8th Doctor sounds so much happier just to have her back. It’ll be really interesting to see how he is with other companions in the special box sets.
4x07 Relative Dimensions: Domestic family Christmas with Susan, Alex, Lucie, and the Doctor? Yes, please! I love it.
4x08 Interesting bottle episode, robot Lucies are no substitute for the real thing though. Still, really telling how he used her voice to keep himself sane. This whole season has really cemented just how much she means to him.
4x09-4x10 Holy shit. In the show, it’s usually the Cybermen who get to kill important characters, so I guess it’s about time the Daleks caught up, but wow way to do it all at once. Absolute chills at the end. I really wonder how this is all going to affect the Doctor moving forward. I know Dark Eyes is next and it’s a whole separate thing, but I really hope we get some info or connections to see where the Doctor is at emotionally after all this.
Overall, good season with a lot of interesting plots all coming together for a very epic ending. It was hard not having Lucie around for all of it- but having Susan around was great. On to the further adventures with Lucie Miller!
Then...I can either move forward to Dark Eyes...or backwards to the stuff I skipped like Mary Shelley and Charley... decisions decisions...

Review
This novel -- and series -- is the perfect mixture of the thriller and comedic genres. Nick is trying to survive and save the people in this apocalyptic world, and all the while he has so much sarcasm and witty humor that you can't help but laugh along. I honestly couldn't stop laughing the entire time was reading this book. This is on my suggestion list, and one of my favorites.
5 out of 5 stars.

The Desire of Ages, pp. 779-787: Chapter (81) “The Lord Is Risen”
This chapter is based on Matthew 28:2-4, 11-15.
The night of the first day of the week had worn slowly away. The darkest hour, just before daybreak, had come. Christ was still a prisoner in His narrow tomb. The great stone was in its place; the Roman seal was unbroken; the Roman guards were keeping their watch. And there were unseen watchers. Hosts of evil angels were gathered about the place. Had it been possible, the prince of darkness with his apostate army would have kept forever sealed the tomb that held the Son of God. But a heavenly host surrounded the sepulcher. Angels that excel in strength were guarding the tomb, and waiting to welcome the Prince of life.
“And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven.” Clothed with the panoply of God, this angel left the heavenly courts. The bright beams of God's glory went before him, and illuminated his pathway. “His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: and for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.”
Now, priests and rulers, where is the power of your guard? Brave soldiers that have never been afraid of human power are now as captives taken without sword or spear. The face they look upon is not the face of mortal warrior; it is the face of the mightiest of the Lord's host. This messenger is he who fills the position from which Satan fell. It is he who on the hills of Bethlehem proclaimed Christ's birth. The earth trembles at his approach, the hosts of darkness flee, and as he rolls away the stone, heaven seems to come down to the earth. The soldiers see him removing the stone as he would a pebble, and hear him cry, Son of God, come forth; Thy Father calls Thee. They see Jesus come forth from the grave, and hear Him proclaim over the rent sepulcher, “I am the resurrection, and the life.” As He comes forth in majesty and glory, the angel host bow low in adoration before the Redeemer, and welcome Him with songs of praise.
An earthquake marked the hour when Christ laid down His life, and another earthquake witnessed the moment when He took it up in triumph. He who had vanquished death and the grave came forth from the tomb with the tread of a conqueror, amid the reeling of the earth, the flashing of lightning, and the roaring of thunder. When He shall come to the earth again, He will shake “not the earth only, but also heaven.” “The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage.” “The heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll;” “the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” But “the Lord will be the hope of His people, and the strength of the children of Israel.” Hebrews 12:26; Isaiah 24:20; 34:4; 2 Peter 3:10; Joel 3:16.
At the death of Jesus the soldiers had beheld the earth wrapped in darkness at midday; but at the resurrection they saw the brightness of the angels illuminate the night, and heard the inhabitants of heaven singing with great joy and triumph: Thou hast vanquished Satan and the powers of darkness; Thou hast swallowed up death in victory!
Christ came forth from the tomb glorified, and the Roman guard beheld Him. Their eyes were riveted upon the face of Him whom they had so recently mocked and derided. In this glorified Being they beheld the prisoner whom they had seen in the judgment hall, the one for whom they had plaited a crown of thorns. This was the One who had stood unresisting before Pilate and Herod, His form lacerated by the cruel scourge. This was He who had been nailed to the cross, at whom the priests and rulers, full of self-satisfaction, had wagged their heads, saying, “He saved others; Himself He cannot save.” Matthew 27:42. This was He who had been laid in Joseph's new tomb. The decree of heaven had loosed the captive. Mountains piled upon mountains over His sepulcher could not have prevented Him from coming forth.
At sight of the angels and the glorified Saviour the Roman guard had fainted and become as dead men. When the heavenly train was hidden from their view, they arose to their feet, and as quickly as their trembling limbs could carry them, made their way to the gate of the garden. Staggering like drunken men, they hurried on to the city, telling those whom they met the wonderful news. They were making their way to Pilate, but their report had been carried to the Jewish authorities, and the chief priests and rulers sent for them to be brought first into their presence. A strange appearance those soldiers presented. Trembling with fear, their faces colorless, they bore testimony to the resurrection of Christ. The soldiers told all, just as they had seen it; they had not had time to think or speak anything but the truth. With painful utterance they said, It was the Son of God who was crucified; we have heard an angel proclaiming Him as the Majesty of heaven, the King of glory.
The faces of the priests were as those of the dead. Caiaphas tried to speak. His lips moved, but they uttered no sound. The soldiers were about to leave the council room, when a voice stayed them. Caiaphas had at last found speech. Wait, wait, he said. Tell no one the things you have seen.
A lying report was then given to the soldiers. “Say ye,” said the priests, “His disciples came by night, and stole Him away while we slept.” Here the priests overreached themselves. How could the soldiers say that the disciples had stolen the body while they slept? If they were asleep, how could they know? And if the disciples had been proved guilty of stealing Christ's body, would not the priests have been first to condemn them? Or if the sentinels had slept at the tomb, would not the priests have been foremost in accusing them to Pilate?
The soldiers were horrified at the thought of bringing upon themselves the charge of sleeping at their post. This was an offense punishable with death. Should they bear false witness, deceiving the people, and placing their own lives in peril? Had they not kept their weary watch with sleepless vigilance? How could they stand the trial, even for the sake of money, if they perjured themselves?
In order to silence the testimony they feared, the priests promised to secure the safety of the guard, saying that Pilate would not desire to have such a report circulated any more than they did. The Roman soldiers sold their integrity to the Jews for money. They came in before the priests burdened with a most startling message of truth; they went out with a burden of money, and on their tongues a lying report which had been framed for them by the priests.
Meanwhile the report of Christ's resurrection had been carried to Pilate. Though Pilate was responsible for having given Christ up to die, he had been comparatively unconcerned. While he had condemned the Saviour unwillingly, and with a feeling of pity, he had felt no real compunction until now. In terror he now shut himself within his house, determined to see no one. But the priests made their way into his presence, told the story which they had invented, and urged him to overlook the sentinels’ neglect of duty. Before consenting to this, he himself privately questioned the guard. They, fearing for their own safety, dared not conceal anything, and Pilate drew from them an account of all that had taken place. He did not prosecute the matter further, but from that time there was no peace for him.
When Jesus was laid in the grave, Satan triumphed. He dared to hope that the Saviour would not take up His life again. He claimed the Lord's body, and set his guard about the tomb, seeking to hold Christ a prisoner. He was bitterly angry when his angels fled at the approach of the heavenly messenger. When he saw Christ come forth in triumph, he knew that his kingdom would have an end, and that he must finally die.
The priests, in putting Christ to death, had made themselves the tools of Satan. Now they were entirely in his power. They were entangled in a snare from which they saw no escape but in continuing their warfare against Christ. When they heard the report of His resurrection, they feared the wrath of the people. They felt that their own lives were in danger. The only hope for them was to prove Christ an impostor by denying that He had risen. They bribed the soldiers, and secured Pilate's silence. They spread their lying reports far and near. But there were witnesses whom they could not silence. Many had heard of the soldiers’ testimony to Christ's resurrection. And certain of the dead who came forth with Christ appeared to many, and declared that He had risen. Reports were brought to the priests of persons who had seen these risen ones, and heard their testimony. The priests and rulers were in continual dread, lest in walking the streets, or within the privacy of their own homes, they should come face to face with Christ. They felt that there was no safety for them. Bolts and bars were but poor protection against the Son of God. By day and by night that awful scene in the judgment hall, when they had cried, “His blood be on us, and on our children,” was before them. Matthew 27:25. Nevermore would the memory of that scene fade from their minds. Nevermore would peaceful sleep come to their pillows.
When the voice of the mighty angel was heard at Christ's tomb, saying, Thy Father calls Thee, the Saviour came forth from the grave by the life that was in Himself. Now was proved the truth of His words, “I lay down My life, that I might take it again.... I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.” Now was fulfilled the prophecy He had spoken to the priests and rulers, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” John 10:17, 18; 2:19.
Over the rent sepulcher of Joseph, Christ had proclaimed in triumph, “I am the resurrection, and the life.” These words could be spoken only by the Deity. All created beings live by the will and power of God. They are dependent recipients of the life of God. From the highest seraph to the humblest animate being, all are replenished from the Source of life. Only He who is one with God could say, I have power to lay down My life, and I have power to take it again. In His divinity, Christ possessed the power to break the bonds of death.
Christ arose from the dead as the first fruits of those that slept. He was the antitype of the wave sheaf, and His resurrection took place on the very day when the wave sheaf was to be presented before the Lord. For more than a thousand years this symbolic ceremony had been performed. From the harvest fields the first heads of ripened grain were gathered, and when the people went up to Jerusalem to the Passover, the sheaf of first fruits was waved as a thank offering before the Lord. Not until this was presented could the sickle be put to the grain, and it be gathered into sheaves. The sheaf dedicated to God represented the harvest. So Christ the first fruits represented the great spiritual harvest to be gathered for the kingdom of God. His resurrection is the type and pledge of the resurrection of all the righteous dead. “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him.” 1 Thessalonians 4:14.
As Christ arose, He brought from the grave a multitude of captives. The earthquake at His death had rent open their graves, and when He arose, they came forth with Him. They were those who had been co-laborers with God, and who at the cost of their lives had borne testimony to the truth. Now they were to be witnesses for Him who had raised them from the dead.
During His ministry, Jesus had raised the dead to life. He had raised the son of the widow of Nain, and the ruler's daughter and Lazarus. But these were not clothed with immortality. After they were raised, they were still subject to death. But those who came forth from the grave at Christ's resurrection were raised to everlasting life. They ascended with Him as trophies of His victory over death and the grave. These, said Christ, are no longer the captives of Satan; I have redeemed them. I have brought them from the grave as the first fruits of My power, to be with Me where I am, nevermore to see death or experience sorrow.
These went into the city, and appeared unto many, declaring, Christ has risen from the dead, and we be risen with Him. Thus was immortalized the sacred truth of the resurrection. The risen saints bore witness to the truth of the words, “Thy dead men shall live, together with My dead body shall they arise.” Their resurrection was an illustration of the fulfillment of the prophecy, “Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.” Isaiah 26:19.
To the believer, Christ is the resurrection and the life. In our Saviour the life that was lost through sin is restored; for He has life in Himself to quicken whom He will. He is invested with the right to give immortality. The life that He laid down in humanity, He takes up again, and gives to humanity. “I am come,” He said, “that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” “Whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” “Whoso eateth My flesh, and drinketh My blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 10:10; 4:14; John 6:54.
To the believer, death is but a small matter. Christ speaks of it as if it were of little moment. “If a man keep My saying, he shall never see death,” “he shall never taste of death.” To the Christian, death is but a sleep, a moment of silence and darkness. The life is hid with Christ in God, and “when Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory.” John 8:51, 52; Colossians 3:4.
The voice that cried from the cross, “It is finished,” was heard among the dead. It pierced the walls of sepulchers, and summoned the sleepers to arise. Thus will it be when the voice of Christ shall be heard from heaven. That voice will penetrate the graves and unbar the tombs, and the dead in Christ shall arise. At the Saviour's resurrection a few graves were opened, but at His second coming all the precious dead shall hear His voice, and shall come forth to glorious, immortal life. The same power that raised Christ from the dead will raise His church, and glorify it with Him, above all principalities, above all powers, above every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in the world to come.

Is it me, or has Ren been purposely distant/annoyed with Nora lately. I've caught on multiple occasions (Mostly CH 1,3,4 and now 5) where Nora will do something and Ren will ignore it, shake his head at her, or just bluntly call her out. It seems to me that RT might be setting up a possible conflict with Renora where Ren might actually snap at Nora for not taking something seriously and be all "Why cant you take anything serious?!" I'm very curious about this--What do you think?
Hmm…well to be fair anon-chan; while seeing Ren flat out turn down Nora’s compliment about his new outfit, much to her disappointment, was annoying to see as a Renora-shipper, outside of that, Ren’s behaviour with Nora doesn’t seem that much different. At least to me.
We’ve seen Ren make dry remarks in response to Nora’s animated outbursts in the past. But for the most part Ren has always been quite patient with Nora; allowing her to be as loud and outspoken as she wants to be and a part of me would like to think that Ren’s unyielding patience with Nora stems from their time surviving on their own together particularly the night Ren protected Nora from the Nevermore.
Nora used to be so scared and soft spoken when we first saw her as a little girl back during the Kunoyuri episode. It’s almost hard to believe she evolved into the exuberant young woman we know her to be. And I think part of that is due inpart to Ren always encouraging her to be that way with him.
The only times Ren’s sudden change in behaviour toward Nora stood out to me the most was in V7CH1 where Ren took off in combat without Nora, much to her clear annoyance and of course their moment in CH3.
Tumblr media
Since Ren was seen being trained personally by Elm (and getting his ass clobbered) in V7CH5, I’m curious to know if this will become a routine thing for him.
Constantly training, particularly with Elm as part of his regiment when he isn’t on mission or doing team training with Nora, Jaune and perhaps Oscar too from time to time.
Though that montage with Ren and Elm was short, it was enough for me to take note of it. Why? Because it ties into my theory for Ren’s strange behaviour for this season. As I once told another anon-ninja, I chucked up Ren’s sudden distance of Nora as his way of giving himself some space so that he can grow stronger as a fighter and huntsmen.
Despite starting off as a seemingly weak-minded, scared little girl, Nora has evolved into a powerhouse. She’s definitely become a stronger person than she was before when she met Ren.
Tumblr media
So much so that my idea was that Ren must’ve compared himself to Nora and Jaune and realized that he may be the weakest link within his team. Nora has always been a raging force of nature not to be messed with while Jaune himself has shown immense improvement over the seasons. He’s been especially impressive for this season so far.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of the JNR trio, Ren is the one to have grown the least in terms of battle prowess. I remember how quickly he would get winded out in a fight after using his aura. Not to mention that another habit I’ve noticed of Ren in the line of combat is getting himself knocked out too easily during a fight and needing Nora to come save him.
It happened back in V1 when Ren jumped on the Death stalker’s back and got himself flung into a pillar leading to Nora coming in to avenge him alongside Pyrhha and Jaune in their first team fight when JNPR was forged.
It happened back in V2 when Yang knocked him down during the RWBY vs JNPR food fight leading to Nora tagging herself in for him.
It happened in V3 during the JNPR vs BRNZ fight at the Vytal Festival where Ren got taken out by Nolan leading to Nora coming to his defence once again.
It happened back in V4 when he nearly got himself killed by the Nuckelavee if Nora hadn’t intervened.
It happened in V5 when Hazel took him out, leading to Nora to come to his rescue and send the Juggernaut flying straight through the front door.
It even happened again in V6 with Ren getting himself taken away by Cordovin leading Nora to fire after the mechazord to get him back. Not to mention that Ren’s stunt left him unable to help defend and/or protect the rest of his team on the ground.
Tumblr media
So yeah, as you can tell by my recap, Ren doesn’t do so hot defending himself on the battlefield despite being a competent fight. Nora coming to his aid all the time really has become a glaring habit.
Though the PLOT hasn’t given me much proof to this, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Ren has probably done some self-assessment within recent times and has now made up his mind while the group is in Atlas to strive to improve himself and get stronger, not just for himself but for his teammates, especially Nora.
Now that I think about it, Neon’s quick jab at Ren during the JN(P)R vs FNKI battle from V7CH5 could be used as further justification for my theory:
“…Wow, your boyfriend’s actually holding his own.”
Neon saying that reaffirms my earlier point about how much Ren fumbles in a fight on his own. And I think that’s the reason for his current mood.
While I do think you might ultimately be correct too in the PLOT setting up a potential fight or tension between our favourite Flower Power pair, for me I feel it has less to do with Nora not being able to take things seriously and more on Ren needing to get stronger. Or hey, maybe both of our theories are correct?
What would make this even more interesting is if Ren’s sudden desire to become stronger ties into what he and everyone recently learnt regarding Salem.
It would be cool if the whole truth about Salem has secretly been weighing on Ren since Argus and it just occurred to him that if any of them were to attempt to go up against the Wicked Witch—even without her immortality, Ren wouldn’t stand a chance against Salem. He wouldn’t even be able to hold her back in his current shape.
Perhaps…this might even force Ren to think back to the RNJR encounter with Tyrian Callows back in V4 and remember how useless he made himself appear up against a formidable opponent like that who proclaimed himself as a servant of Salem.
Tumblr media
If Ren couldn’t even hold his own against one of Salem’s forces then how can he even call himself a warrior? Shoot, he didn’t even stand a chance against Hazel---another confirmed member of Salem’s forces.
How was he supposed to defend himself against them, let alone his friends? Let alone his girlfriend and closest companion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Ren taking the upcoming fight against Salem moreseriously while Nora isn’t could tie into your hunch regarding his frustration over Nora’s nonchalance? Who knows? It’s another idea for the table of possibilities.
All this being said, a part of me is really hoping for a prospective JNPR 2.0-centric episode for V7.
I want to know what their thoughts on Ruby’s actions in V7CH2 were like. Thus far we have only covered what RWBY thinks with Weiss, Blake and Yang basically playing follow the leader and siding with Ruby. However we don’t know how Jaune, Ren and Nora took the news. We haven’t seen them antagonize Ruby or any of the RWBY girls at all.
One the contrary, JNR behave just as normally as they ever did with RWBY which says they’re fine with the way things are for now.
I find that to be a little odd given how strongly JNR reacted to the truth about Salem back in V6CH8. Perhaps their all hiding their true thoughts for the sake of friendship with Ruby and Team RWBY.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But I wonder how JNR will think about the matter once they hear it from the perspective of someone who doesn’t share in Ruby’s approach—another smaller, more honest soul who the trio have gradually been growing closer to.
Tumblr media
It’d be interesting if we got Oscar approaching JNR for support with him possibly going forward and unveiling the truth to Ironwood. Or at least back him up when confronting Ruby again on the subject.
For me, I mostly want an episode that focuses on Ren and Nora confronting the growing strain in their relationship while potentially leading into a discussion of their past together but from Nora’s point of view this time.
I also wish for an episode like this to show Oscar conflicted on the right approach while confiding in Jaune.
@megashadowdragon shared with me their theory on Jaune telling Oscar about the time he forged his admission papers to get into Beacon Academy. I can see Jaune talking to Oscar in regards to his feelings while using himself as an example in morality.
I have a strong feeling that this WILL surely happen down the line. While we got a teaser of Oscar training with Ironwood in CH5, it is to be noted that Oscar’s training was assigned to help him jog Oz out of his mind.
Tumblr media
Though things are reasonably friendly between Oscar and Ironwood at the moment, it wouldn’t surprise if down the line James starts to grow wary when he acknowledges that the training regimen hasn’t been successful in bringing Oz back.
While it’s definitely assisted in Oscar’s improvement as a huntsman, as I said, the purpose of the training was to bring back Oz. So if nothing happens in that regard, James will start to get suspicious. He might even start to probe Oscar for more information on his current predicament which could potentially poke holes in Ruby’s swish cheese of an alibi from V7CH2.
Perhaps…even the talk of aura experiments will finally be brought up from this. Imagine if…Ironwood eventually makes the proposition for Oscar to allow Atlas to run tests on his aura as another alternative to forcing Oz to return…unless Oscar gives him a valid reason while he shouldn’t let him undergo experimentation—meaning the truth.
Perhaps…it’ll be a case where Oscar becomes frightened regarding the thought of undergoing experimentation. It’s basically a prospect where Ironwood has unknowingly backed Oscar into a corner based on Ruby’s lie; so to speak. So either the truth comes out or…Oscar gets experimented on for no reason?
And we all know how nice those Atlesian Aura Experiments go for their subjects, right? I know Jaune certainly remembers how great it was for Pyrhha back in V3.
Tumblr media
I dunno. I’m only bringing this concept up since I’m curious to know when the PLOT will reintroduce Atlas’ experimental aura technology and research that was revealed back in V3. I still have a feeling that’s going to come back somehow. Either it’ll be part of Oscar’s story for V7 or be savoured for the subplot with our revealed Winter Maiden: Fria.
Tumblr media
As an alternative, Oscar could just eventually start to feel pressured by keeping the truth from the General, seeing how kind he and his lieutenants have been to him and the others.
Oscar becomes conflicted on what the right thing to do should be. He knows that the Relic of Knowledge is in his possession since Ruby trusted it with him. But at the same time, the little barn prince is also fully aware that one question still remains with the lamp—a question that could be used to unveil the whole truth to Ironwood. The problem is will Ruby want to do that?
Oh! What if…we got a JNPR parallel to RWBY in V7CH2 where Oscar confides in JNR that he wishes to reveal the truth to Ironwood using the Relic of Knowledge but is conflicted about it? One of the JNR members then prompts Oscar with the question on whether he spoke to Ruby regarding his decision.
This now brings me to my Pinehead headcanon where Ruby and Oscar meet alone and get into one big argument over their differing sentiments on trusting Ironwood with the whole truth.
In the end, Oscar begrudgingly returns the Relic to Ruby before parting ways with her implying that he was going to leave the team because of her; or something to that liking.
My rationale for wanting a plot point like this is due to its connection to the Little Prince story where the Prince left his home planet after growing frustrated with his rose.
Since the Prince left because of his rose, I considered something like that happening with Oscar where he decides to either leave the team again or just Ruby in general out of his disappointment and frustration with her recent choice of actions and attitude towards such actions.
Tumblr media
So the little barn prince takes himself out of the equation and abandons his little red rose, returning the Relic to her because he wasn’t prepared to be the one to do to Ruby what she did to Ozpin back in V6.
Nor did he have the heart to watch her become someone else he didn’t recognize. Or something alone those lines.
As I’ve said before, I don’t wish for Oscar to go behind Ruby’s back and tattle on her to the General. I would actually hate it if the PLOT made Oscar do that to Ruby since, I don’t think Oscar would ever do that to her. We all saw how shattered Oz was following the ordeal and I’m certain Oscar felt his pain and sadness in that moment too despite not being in control.
So forgive me if this squiggle meister just can’t fathom Oscar putting Ruby through that. In my mind, he would NEVER. Not to her.
Instead what I’m banking on is a chain reaction of events that result in Oscar convincing Ruby that coming clean about the whole truth to their Atlesian Allies about Salem is the right call so that she could reveal the truth herself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ruby is the one responsible for planting the group in potential hot water with James after she lied the first time; possibly on Oscar’s behalf which was admittedly bold of her since Oscar didn’t exactly ask her to do that for him.
If the truth is to be revealed, it has to come from Ruby. Heck, perhaps …she and Oscar can both tell the General the truth together since, as I said, the Rosebuds are the drivers of this subplot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It still really bothers me how the heroes (most  of them anyways) really believe that lying to James—the man confirmed to be paranoid about being betrayed by those closest to him—- is a good call especially after the events of V6.
I’m even more stunned at Qrow. Qrow knows James probably a lot better than Ruby does and after what happened with Oz back in Argus, it honestly baffles me how complacent Qrow is being about keeping the truth from James especially after he went through an ordeal where he was devastated by truth after being unaware of it for years. It just doesn’t make sense to me at all.
But going back to Ren and Nora now, as I’ll reiterate I think Ren’s behaviour is about growing stronger.
Back in V5, Ren was the one to question how the heroes were going to win the fight against Salem if she can’t be killed. That was mainly his reaction to the truth while Jaune and Nora most responded in anger.
“…If Salem can’t be killed, then how are we supposed to win this?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seriously, we haven’t seen such a fire in Ren’s eyes since V4 against the Nuckelavee and his whole history with the beast that killed his family and destroyed his home village. So I’m assuming his key story for V7 will be bettering himself as a warrior for the people around him and for the upcoming war with Salem and the chaos that will happen once the truth comes out to the General and the rest of Remnant.
Those are my thoughts on that for now.
