You’re welcome! A lot of sites have outdated release dates still that show up at the top of Google, so I wanted to have a place to display the most up-to-date information in a way that was easy for people to reference. A lot of this blog is me thinking of stuff I want organized in a way I can easily reference and share (chapter illustrations, interviews, any merch, etc.) and I’m always glad to hear that people are getting use out of it as well :)

favorite underrated book series?

Anon when I tell you this ask got me jumping out my bed to sift through my bookshelf. Warning for a lot of words

A while back I read these old books ‘The adventures of the Wishing Chair’ and ‘The Wishing Chair, again’ by Enid Blyton. They’re children’s books, published in 1937 and 1950, respectively.

Another series I’m fairly fond of is Jessica Townsend’s ‘Nevermoor, the Trials of Morrigan Crow’ (fun fact, my copy is signed!) it follows the story of a girl cursed to die on a certain day at midnight, but a mysterious man comes to take her away to a secret city called Nevermoor, there’s three books in the series as far as I’m aware.

For younger readers (or older ones, too!), the ‘Friday Barnes’ series by R.A Spratt follows an exceptional girl surrounded by non-exceptional people. She solves a mystery for her detective uncle and uses the prize money to send herself to an exclusive boarding school. Chaos ensues

ANOTHER great one (and I don’t know how underrated it is) is Australian author Emily Rodda’s (AKA Jennifer Rowe) ‘Rowan Of Rin’!! I’m pretty sure her other series ‘Deltora Quest’ is more popular (I haven’t read it) but I do own a large hardback of all five Rowan stories shoved into one book. It follows a timid farmer boy forced to go on a journey up a mountain to save his village

Anon you have awakened a beast in me. Unfortunately I am a fucking nerd, always have been and I love books to death (even if I don’t touch one for months) and am prepared to talk about it for hours.

In conclusion: I don’t have a particular favourite I do, however, have a collection of series that I love that you’ve maybe never heard of.

And you can ignore this part if you want to because now I’m just prattling about the Authors:

So R.A Spratt is an Australian author, also responsible for ‘Hamlet is not okay!’, which surprised me because I know that book but I didn’t know it was by her! Wow

Townsend is also Australian, but she doesn’t really have any books beyond Nevermoor. And actually, I’m noticing a trend, because Emily Rodda is also Australian. Makes sense, because I’m Australian, of course I’d be reading Australian authors.

I wonder what sort of role the members of 919 will be fulfilling in later books. Currently I'm thinking of Mahir, and how his linguist abilities might help with the mystery in Silverborn- maybe he might use his abilities to translate a message of some sort? I don't even know, I'm just excited to see more of the other members.

There is an interview or Q&A SOMEWHERE where Jess talks about how each book sort of focuses on or highlights a different 919 member. I feel like Wundersmith was Lam and Hollowpox was Anah.

I want to say that Silverborn will focus on Hawthorne since we know it’s going to explore the dragonriding world more, but I have two concerns:

1. The “HAWTHORNE??!?” redacted message makes me think something is going to happen to him, and some of the Neverfour emojis are giving hospital and “get well soon” vibes so he might be injured and I don’t know how much he’ll be around. He’s still going to feature somewhat we know though, because Jess mentioned how he was the funniest character to write for the book. His personal knowledgeof the dragonriding world might also be helpful if the “murder mystery” happens at a dragonriding tournament, which I think it will.

2. In the same vein, we know that Mog and Cadence “spend quite a lot of time together in this one out of necessity of the things that are happening in the book”. I am thinking that this means that they will be detectives together, investigating the mystery (mysteries!). If Hawthorne is out for the count, it makes sense that Mog would turn to Cadence for help.

So I don’t know who Silverborn will focus on and I am ready to be surprised. Same for all of the future books!

One idea for Mahir specifically could be related to that part in Hollowpox where Squall hijacks Mog’s powers and she finds it weird to ��listen to her own voice speaking in tones and languages she’d never heard before”. IDK what that’s all about but as Mog continues her Wundersmith journey I think that is totally something Mahir can help her out with!

owain: canonically can't sing but my hc is that he plays violin and piano beautifully. he grows a moustache when he's like eighteen like its a really thin horrible thing until he's twenty five and then it looks decent

elodie: is a lesbian. and has like no problem getting into relationships but they never last longer than three months so she has a whole bunch of ex girlfriends and all of the breakups are horrifically messy. average wunsoc member has ten ndas about their breakups statistical error. lesbians elodie who lives in the basement and has four bad and scandalous breakups every year for around twenty years is a statistical anomaly and should be ignored

ezra: an absolute prodigy at weaving. kind of mediocre at like normal schoolwork. that boy cannot structure an essay for the life of him

odbuoy: he does 90% of the pranks at proudfoot house but is really charismatic so he gets away with it most of the time

rastaban: has that beard all english teachers have like the scuff with the too-much moustache. also coiffs his hair with way too much product

griselda: really mean if you piss her off like the most cutting comments known to man but kind if you're polite. she looks super fragile but she can roundhouse kick someone

decima: her room is an acquarium with a bed in it and like no glass its just water woven so specifically that the fish stay in and the water doesn't touch her. she has a pet koi whom her predecessor owned and its huge

brilliance: loses all her reading glasses all the time. sub nine has them in almost every room because she takes them off her face and then forgets to bring them with her. every time

mathilde: really enjoys depressing and gothic poetry that no one else is into but they all listen to her recite it because she locked the doors and they can't get out

I don't know if you have answered this already but what do you think happened to Jack's parents?

so I have a few different theories about jacks parents.

1: I don’t know how much I believe this one, but I have thought before that Mabey jacks parents weren’t actually related to Jupiter, because yk how sometimes people may call an older person uncle even if they biologically aren’t related. And I thought Mabey they pretend that they are related so people don’t find out the truth about Jack, because maybe he’s in nevermoor illegally, or Mabey he would be taken away from Jupiter. I’ve always thought that Jack has a dark past since he doesn’t really like to talk about it, so that’s also Lead me to believe that Mabey he had abusive parents. Idk it’s so interesting because there’s still so much we don’t know about Jupiter and Jack, and I find it weird that Jupiter has never mentioned having any other family members than Jack cause he would have to have a sibling for Jack to be his real nephew, and it would probably be a sister since Jacks last name is korraparti. Oh what if maybe Jupiter’s whole family is really toxic and or abusive, and he took Jack to get him out of that environment. That would kind of make sense.

but also with jacks parents we have to remember Jack only stared living with Jupiter about 4 years before Morrigan, so it’s not like Jupiter had him since he was a baby.

I’m not too sure what to think about jacks parents/past yet because there’s just so much we don’t know about it yet. I’m really hoping we find out more about him in silverborn because that’s one of the things I’m most interested in, but unfortunately I’m pretty sure Jessica said that Jack won’t be in silverborn a whole lot 🥲 which I hate because he’s in my top 3 characters.

I think what I want to know most about jacks parents is whether they’re even alive or not. It’s strange that we don’t know right?

also do you guys believe that Jupiter’s knack really got passed on to Jack or that it’s just a coincidence that they’re both witnesses, because we’ve never really heard of knacks being passed on before. And idk if it just me but it seems strange to inherit something like that from your uncle.
