TW: Avatar Frontier of Pandora Spoilers, mentions of death, crime's against the na'vi, a bit of angst but not really, Jake and Neytiri love trope?
A/N: Sorry this took a while, should I introduce another clans mentioned in the video game? Sorry if it feels short.
Masterlist
Kiri had taken you to one of the labs in the High Camp, so that you could meet her mother. Turns out that she was adopted by the Sully's, but she still knows about her biological mother. After you had put on a mask that allowed you to breath the human air, you were then pulled to a water tank, which contained her mother. "That your mom?" you asked, while looking at the what seemed to be sleeping na'vi. "Yeah, she's gone, but not completely" Kiri said, while climbing on top of the tank and sat on it, while looking down at her mom. You couldn't help but notice how much a like they looked. She must really be her mom.
But you also realized who it was. "Is that Dr. Grace Augustine?" you asked, making Kiri look at you with a look of surprised. How did you know her mom's name? "Yeah, do you know my mom?" she asked, now curious. "Not personally, but I've seen her a couple times with my teacher Miss Cameron" you mentioned. "She'd teach other kids, we'd refer to them as the 'Outside' Kids since they weren't kept in the building like I was." You said, seen how Kiri somewhat frowned, she had hopped that you would know something about her mom. "I wish I knew something." You said with a bit of comfort. Kiri only smiled while looking down at her mom.
You'd be bonding with a dire horse. They were huge, they almost scared you due to their size. Neteyam had guided you towards a horse, it was a male station. He was busy eating some kind of honey like substance from some flowers. Neteyam then called the creature over, the stallion gladly went to him. Neteyam then handed you a yovo fruit. "What's this for?" you asked, looking at the fruit in hand. "It's for the horse, to get him to like you a bit." He explained, then horse was now facing you, sniffing the air towards you. "Give him the fruit." He said, you then brought the fruit up to the horse.
The stallion gladly ate the fruit from your hand, you felt the juices getting on your palm as well as the horse's licks on your hand. You lightly giggled by the horse eagerly licking your palm. Neteyam only watched, in awe. He felt a warm feeling on his chest watching you interacting with the dire horse, he softly smiled by the sight. Then he spoke. "Alright, now mount him." He said, you wiped your palms on the cloth from your loincloth in attempt to clean them. You then moved to the horse's side, then you jumped up to him. You struggled a bit, but manage to get on his back, sitting up straight. "Make the bond with the horse." He said, you then grabbed your queue along with the horse's antenna like queue. Slowly you brought your both your pink tendrils together and have them hug one another. The horse then let out loud neigh and stumbled around. "Crap." You squealed, hugging onto the horse neck tightly to not fall. Feeling yourself panic.
Neteyam got closed, keeping the dire horse on the spot and prevented him from moving anymore. "Now, relax your body." He instructed. You nodded, letting go of the horse's neck and sat up straight. You took a deep breath, trying to relax yourself and clear your mind. "Now, focused on feeling what he is feeling. Feel his mind, his body, his legs." He continued to instruct you on what to do. You did what you could, inhaling and exhaling, keeping your mind blank. Trying to bond with the horse. It seemed to be working, you could feel yourself bonding with the horse, as if you felt his mind, body and most importantly his legs. You couldn't help but let out a small smile, by the little achievement. Neteyam couldn't help but smile by this too.
He moved away from the horse, giving him enough space to go through. "Now, instruct him to go forward." He told you. You opened your eyes, looking forward, to see where to guide the horse to. "Forward?" you said, almost confused and a now nervous. Without a warning, the horse then galloped forward. Making you squeal out a bit by his sudden outburst. Without a warning, the horse went a bit faster, then you fell off the horse. Your queue unlatched off from the horse's. You fell on a mud puddle. Neteyam couldn't help but let out a small laugh and going over to you. "Are you alright?" he asked. You then got up on your hands and knees. "Never better." You responded almost sarcastically.
He then leaned down and helped you up, not minding touching the mud on your arms. Looking down, half of your body was covered in mud, the side of your face also had mud and it also got in your mouth. You stock out your tongue and leaned the mud out of it. "This isn't the first time I'd eat dirt." You mentioned, Neteyam couldn't help but continue to chuckle as you tried to clean the mud off yourself. Neteyam then stopped and leaned a bit closer to your face, not too close, just enough to look at your features properly. "Is this a birthmark?" He asked. You then touched the part of your face that didn't have mud on it. You felt the small mark on your left cheek.
"Oh, yeah." You responded almost shyly, by how close he was and how he manage to see the small birthmark on my face. Neteyam only smiled, seen how your cheeks had turned purple. "Go get yourself cleaned up and we'll give it another go." He said kindly. "Alright boss." You replied, walking over to the water fall.
You and Neteyam were back in the village, your whole body felt sore. This was your first time in fifteen years that you felt like that, you were used to it, but everything just felt new. You had to go get checked, you were recovering well, thanks to the fresh air and keeping yourself distracted helped. After your check up, you went back to your small corner. You sat down under your hammock, with your notebook in hand and your pencil.
'Today was interesting, it was my first day in training. This was a bit more difficult then the training was used to. Instead of trying to drive one of the vehicles or air crafts, I rode a horse. A huge one, it was almost as if, it was right for me to be riding that animal, despite not being used to it. It was if I was born for it. Not only that, but Neteyam has a lot of patience, it's almost weird. I'm used to being told that I needed to learn faster and that fast results were needed, things here are a bit odd. I'm used to getting yelled at for not 'trying' hard enough or getting it the first time. I felt somewhat relifed that he didn't yell at me. Hopefully I get the hang of this new lifestyle of mine or just get used to living like the na'vi..'
When you were done, you place your pencil on the last written page and closed the notebook. You then saw Kiri and Tuk approaching you. "Hey y/n!" Tuk said happily, as if she was glad in seen you. "Hey." You responded. "We wanted to know if you wanted to come eat dinner with us?" Kiri asked, before you could answer, Tuk began to plead with you. "Please will you come? Please please please!" she begged like the kid that she was. You couldn't say no, so you nodded. "Yeah, I'll come if that's not issue." You responded, Tuk had jumped in exitment, seen that you agreed.
You were now sitting in the Sully's hut, everyone was sitting in a circle, you were squished between Tuk and Kiri who had been telling you what things that they were eating were. You were new to this, normally you'd eat the food provided by the RDA, which was terrible. You looked down at the huge leaf which had white bugs that were curled up. You grabbed one, examining it first, not sure if you have to remove something or just bite it. "Its Teylu, it may look weird, but it taste good once you try it" Tuk said, you nodded, still looking at the bugs on the bug in your hand. You then just went for it, taking a bite. It felt crunchy, you face scrunched up a bit, but you continued to chew tasting both the sour and gooey stuff. "It's not that bad, taste better then that awful stuff I've ate before." You commented, making Tuk laugh. "You can say that again." Jake chimed in, eating his Teylu.
It was silent at first until Lo'ak had decided to ask a question. "Soo.. Y/n, can you tell us more about school?" He asked. This made everyone's attention to you, they too wanted to learn what stuff you did at school. "I mean well. I learned how to read, write, along with other things such as math and science." You said. They just stayed quiet and listened, eating their food. "What it fun at all?" Tuk asked out of curiosity. "Depends. It was fine, but I didn't like having to stay locked up in a building almost twenty four seven. Besides that, we were mostly taught about Military. Some wanted to be marines, others wanted to do air force." You said, then Jake asked. "Wait, so basically you were all being trained into being Soldiers?" He asked, he had a look of confusion but he also looked modified. "Yeah, they said that they wanted us to show an example to the Outsiders that they would work with the RDA." You explained.
Jake eyes widen, he knew what you meant by that. Your words didn't sound genuine. You sounded as if you were programed into saying that. It'd make sense since he had learned that you were in the RDA for a long time. "What if, the others didn't want to do military?" he now asked. "Well, we had a choice, we could either do military, be scientists or go work in the mines." You said, as if it was nothing. Jake only nodded, processing what you had finished saying. He didn't question any further, he just went back into eating his food. For the rest of the evening you had been telling them more the pros and cons about school to the kids. They had seemed very hooked while Jake and Neytiri only watched.
After dinner, you had gone back to your tent. While the Sully kids were getting ready to sleep. Jake had a lot on his mind, he was outside the hut, pacing around, thinking about what you had said to him. "Ma'Jake? What is wrong?" Neytiri asked her husband, she had finished putting the kids, specially Tuk who had a hard time going to sleep. Jake looked at his wife, his look had some concern. "I'm thinking about what Y/n said." He sighed, rubbing his forehead. "How so?" his wife asked him, wanting to hear his thoughts. "She..I don't know fully, but. It's obvious that she was brain washed into thinking way. Her and those other kids are obviously from other clans and were taken, but they were probably made to believe that the RDA had 'recused' them. I call that complete bullshit." He said to him.
Those words had made Neytiri go back to an old memory. It happened a while ago. She was still a child, she had heard that the Sky Demons had attacked the Tayrangi Clan when they still lived in the forest. She remembers how Ikeyni and Tsentey had arrived at the old Hometree, asking for help. She remembers seen their people crying in both pain and suffering. She had heard that they had set their home on fire and how some of the children had been taken, as well as some people getting killed. That was when she also learned that Ikeyni had also lost her daughter. She was too deep in thought that she didn't hear Jake calling to her. "Babe? Babe? Earth to Neytiri?" he said, getting her attention. His wife looked at him, she had a look of concern. "I know what you mean. Many years back, the Tayrangi clan got attacked a while back when they still lived deep in the forest. The Sky People had come to their land, taking most of the children and killed their families. Ikeyni and Tsentey had gone to home tree asking for help. It was sad to see, lots of people injured, some got burnt and their children got taken. I still remember the look of pain in both Ikeyni and Tsentey, they had lost their daughter." Neytiri explained.
Jake couldn't help but listen. I made sense on why Ikeyni did not hesitate and join in the battle of the Hallelujah Mountains. He understood her a bit more. "So, It's a possibility that one of this kids from y/n's class could possibly be Ikeyni's daughter?" He asked his mate. Neytiri nodded. "Possibly, but we won't know any time soon." She responded. Jake could only nod in understanding. He really hoped that you'd learn about your true origin, where you truly came from. He also hopped that the other kids would wake up so that they too learn the truth.
It was a new day, you got ready for your training. You had change of clothes it was another top made from leaves and other raw materials. The loincloth was only a dark brown miniature like skirt. You were still trying to get used to these kinds of clothes, specially the loincloth, it was a bit uncomfortable, but you had to use these clothes. It almost felt like a requirement. Before you went with Neteyam, you went to check up on your classmates to see if their was any luck, but nothing. You could only hope that your classmates would be okay.
This time, you were going into the woods with Neteyam, who had been carrying a bow and a few arrows. "Have you ever used a weapon before?" Neteyam asked. "Um... I know a way around a gun, mainly a snipper rifle." You admitted, while you followed him, until you both stopped at a secluded area. "Hm, what is that used for?" he asked. "It's a gun used by Snipers. It's like a bow and arrow, but instead you're using a gun from a hidden distance." You explained. Neteyam just hummed. "We're you planning on being a Sniper?" he asked again, souding a bit confused by this 'Sniper' word, you nodded." Well, today you'll be learning how to use a bow" he said, motioning for you to get closer. Once close to him, he handed you the bow. He then proceeded to position you on how to hold the bow properly.
Neteyam handed you an arrow. Placing the feathered end on the string. "Pull" he instructed, then you pulled the arrow backwards on the string slowly. "Hold" he said, making you stop. Again, he preceded to fix your position, moving your arm which held the arrow a bit higher and placed a hand on your back to straighten it. "Keep your chest up and take a deep breath." He said, you followed orders. "Look at where you want the arrow to hit" he said, closely to you, almost whispering. You then looked over at him, seen how close he was to you. "Okay, let go" he said, you then let you, not looking at were the arrow hit.
"Not bad, but you still need more practice" he said turning to you, making you quickly turn away from him and look at the arrow, it had landed on a tree trunk, missing where you had wanted it to land on. You felt a bit embarrassed. For the rest of the time, Neteyam was teaching you how to properly used a bow. He was surprisingly patient, he didn't get mad whenever you'd miss your target or broke an arrow, you were used to getting scolded for the smallest thing. Your old peers wanted fast results and had a lot of expectations, this time your teacher seemed very patient.
After a while, your arms and back felt sore, same with your fingers. "You did good, still a bit more practice, but you're a fast leaner" Neteyam complemented. You felt a purple blush creep up on your cheeks. "Thank you, you're very good at teaching" you complemented back. Neteyam gave you a small genuine smile, which made your face heat up a bit and your tail slightly wag. "What else is there to do?" you asked. "Well, next you'll have to learn to get around the forest, basically you use all your five senses, but what's importantly is that you use your strength. In order to survive around here" he instructed.
Once you had collected the bows and whatever arrows you had left, you had the job to carry them around, as a part of the training. You were learning how to climb trees and walking around thick branches. Neteyam moved fast, while you caught up to him. This felt like those obstacle courses back in the base, except these were bigger and very difficult to get around. You watched how Neteyam got a hold of a branch and with his whole body weight, he manage to swing himself to another branch. You stopped, hesitated to do what he did, not sure if you'd be able to that high and not fall.
Neteyam had stopped in his tracks, seen that you were still across the other branch. "Y/n! It's okay, just take a deep breath and use your strength!" he yelled. You looked at him, then back at the ground, seen how far you were. You took a deep breath, placing your bow and slung the quiver on your back, taking another deep breath, you ran towards the branch, and you jumped. You got a hold of it, even though your arms were sore, you still manage to pull your body weight over to the other thick branch. You let go of the branch and landed on one across the first.
You wobbled a bit but you manage to catch yourself, your breathing had quicken by the short moment, looking back at the previous branch you were once on. You sigh in relief, glad that you did it. "It wasn't so hard now was it?" Neteyam walked over to you with a small smile. "Yeah, I'll have to get used to that." You said in a chuckle. "What? They didn't teach you how to climb and jump from tree to tree?" he asked teasinly. "No actually, my training was done on the ground." You responded. "Alright, come on" Neteyam said, moving forward again, while you followed.
We continued to walk and swing onto branches, it was also part of my training. This was much harder then an obstacle course. That was more on the ground, this was high up in trees. If you fall, you could possible break a bone or something, because of how high it is. Its almost a ride or die type of situation. It got more difficult. As we ran through more branches, Neteyam then slung his bow over his chest and jumped off the branch. All you could do is just watch as he fell down. Gracefully sliding off the huge leaves. You sighed, also slipping the bow over your body and leaped off the branch.
You couldn't help but let out a small shrike, your body was hitting the leaves. You tried to slide down, but that didn't work how you planned. Finally after falling for a long time, you fell on your side onto a soft giant mushroom and rolled down to the ground. You quickly got up and dusted dirt off your body, along with leaves. Neteyam could only watched, with a bit of concern. "You alright?" he asked. You only nodded, taking some leaves off your hair. "Yup, I'm good." You responded, feeling a bit embarrassed for because of what he saw. He only nodded, but took the time you see if you had any small injuries. "Alright, let's just continued on ground, so that you don't get hurt." He said, as he picked up your bow and gave it to you. When you grabbed the thin wood, your fingers brushed off onto his. You couldn't help but look up at him, for a moment. You locked into each other's eyes. The small moment was cut short when you took your bow from his hands. "Alright, lets go." You said, awkwardly. Neteyam nodded, while clearing his throat. Both you and Neteyam began heading back to the high camp. In an awkward silence.

Syawn: bonds beyond clans
Hellooooooooo everyone! here is another long awaited chapter! This one is focused on Lu'Lafyon, the oldest triplet. Hope you all enjoy this one!
Syawn series
-----------------------
After many wars in the past, tragic loss and new bonds forming, many clans have become closer than ever. The center of all these bonds are the Omatikaya clan, and to be more specific is the ever growing sully family. Their bond ties deep with the Metkayina clan, the Olangi clan, the Anurai clan, and so many more. One of the many clans the Sully family is very close to is the Tayrangi clan. The Olo’eykte, the fearless warrior and wise leader, Ikeyni. She fought so many battles right beside Jake sully. She knows him and his extended family very well.
Dont think she is alone in leading her clan. Her mate and beloved, Tstentey assisted her. He holds not specific title. Not that he desired to. Simply being a ikran rider and teacher to the young is enough of a title for him. Of course he did participate in the war against the humans. Yet after that, he continued to live his humble life with ikeyni.
However.
When they received word of the miracle birth of three na’vi children born from the same mother at the same time, they had to go see. Be a witness of something that is sure to be a once in a lifetime opportunity. And meeting them face to face brought great joy to Ikenyi. Seeing life blossom after many losses was always a welcoming change.
Ikenyi and tentsey promised Jake sully and neytiri that they would vow to protect the triplets and that both would make a strong bond with them when they get older. Welcoming them to their clan should they like it. And it was a promise the couple would hold on. But among the three siblings, one of them would hold a unique bond with ikeyni. A bond she would treasure forever.
The couple saw the children again 4 years later. The Tayrangi clan were celebrating the newly adult na’vi who passed their iknimaya. As a great celebration, ikeyni sent a message to her old battle friend Jake Sully to come and give his wise words to the young adults. Give them encouragement and to be proud of how far they have come.
And while the main star was supposed to be Jake, his three little grandchildren stole the entire clan's attention. Who can ignore three cute little ones?
“Jealous of your own grandchildren toruk makto?” Ikeyni asks, teasing Jake one day. Many of her clan gathered around neteyam sully and his mate, the one who birthed such a miracle. The small family were centered in the village, a spot for everyone to see.
“Nah, if anything I feel more sorry for them, they are not used to so much attention '' Jake responds. Ikenyi sees how nervous and uncomfortable they were. Heading over, she has everyone to continue with their duties as to leave the family alone. She bends down to help syawn, “forgive my people. They are not over the fact of your little ones' ' ikeyni apologizes. Syawn shakes her head and smiles “it is alright. We should have expected this. Yet we still become overwhelmed”.
Bending down to their levels, ikeyni smiles at the triplets who cling to their parents' legs. All three silent while staring intently at her. “Hello little ones, do you like my home?” she asks. The triplets dont reply instantly, merely observing her, while blinking at the same time. Ikeyni won't admit it out loud, but seeing do things as one is a bit creepy yet intriguing.
“Come now you three, we practiced before” syawn kindly tells her children. Neteyam and syawn gently push forward the three in front of them. There were slight whimpers of protest but among the three, one of them stood in front of the other two. As a cute way of protecting them. “A brave one you are '' the olo’eykte compliments.
The one that protects the other two, was focusing on her head piece. A gasp of realization, the triplet pointed at Ikeynis face.
“SLINGER!”
She blinked twice, confusion was written on her face.
“SLINGER! SLINGER!”
The child repeats. And the other two followed.
Neteyam picks up the child and gives a frown, “lu’lafyon enough, she is not a slinger!”
Syawn was blushing in embarrassment. “I think it is your head piece olo’eykte, it almost resembles the head of a slinger. It doesn't help that you are covered in red paint…” she muttered the possible reason behind her son’s outburst. Syawn and neteyam were ready for anything the tyrangi leader would say or do. Anything.
Except for her laughing outburst.
They and others nearby saw how loud and penguin ikeyni was laughing.
“HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Oh my eywa!! HAHAHA! Oh he has a good eye!” she cackles out. After a few minutes she controlled herself and composed. Standing in front of neteyam, she stretches her arms out. “May I?” she asks. Neteyam hesitantly hands lu’lafyon over to ikeyni. Settling in her arms, the little one stares up at her.
“Lu’lafyon is it?”
The little one nods.
His siblings clinging onto her legs, reaching up for him.
“Very bold of you to call me such a thing, little one. No fear, no fear at all”
Hearing words coming from the olo’eykte, it brought some form of comfort to the parents. At least they are not in trouble.
“Come, let me guide you to your tents” ikeyni says as she leads the way. Still holding lu’lafyon and the other two little ones right at her sides following close.
“Slinger?” tsentey repeats, eyes wide in surprise.
Ikeyni couldn't help but giggle some more as she prepares for the night.
“Yes, my headpiece reminded them of that horrid creature” she replies as she takes off the said head piece, admiring the craft. Tsentey sits beside her, smiling at her.
“Perhaps I should make something else to replace it, something less….slinger looking” he whispers into her ear.
Ikeyni looks back at him, frowning a bit.
“And replace your greatest gift to me? Never, this was your first courting gift to me. How can I replace this treasure?”
“Fair enough” tsentey says.
They stayed in a comfortable silence for a couple of minutes before it was broken again.
“Those three….you saw potential in one of them don't you?” Tsentey asks. Looking down at Ikeyni, he sees her face. An expression was displayed.
“Too early to tell. But yes, there is a spark in all of them….however, one of them just shines a little bit brighter”
Ever since their first meet, both Ikeyni, and her beloved mate Tsentey, have taken interested in of the darling triplets. And that would be lu’lafyon Sully.
Lu’lafyon, the oldest triplet. Open minded, odd little one. Not that Ikeyni had any expectations for the little one, simply that he is full of surprises. One fun memory she recalls was when she was preparing a hunt in the sea with her group. As she prepared her ikran, her dear friend made some noises to notify her. Turning around she sees little lu’lafyon staring up at her ikran.
“Lu’lafyon..? What brings you here little one?” she asks as she bends down to meet him at eye level.
Lu’lafyon gave her a quick glance before bravely walking towards her ikran, raising his little hand to pet the creature. Bold he was, not a sign of fear.
Her ikran let out a satisfied sound, enjoying the attention from lu’lafyon. “My ikran seems to like you lu’lafyon. Seems you hold a certain charm that can't be resist” she comments. Finally looking at her, little lu’lafyon smiles, “snack?” he asks.
“Hm? You want to give her a snack?” she asks, the boy nods. Not seeing anything wrong, Ikeyni gives him the ok to do so. And pulling out from his small pouch was an interesting treat she has never seen before. Her ikran takes a sniff at it before taking it gently from the child, eating it well. Seemed like her ikran enjoyed the treat, whatever that was.
“What kind of treat did you offer just now?” ikeyni asks lu’lafyon giggles while covering his mouth.
“Bacon!”
“Dad, have you seen lu’lafyon? We can't find him anywhere!” neteyam asks jake in a rather panicked tone. Syawn was tending to her children when she looked away for one second only to find her eldest child gone. Where he went is beyond anyone. Searching high and low, syawn couldnt find her baby so she told neteyam.
“I havent seen him all day, maybe he is with his siblings?” jake asks.
Neteyam shakes his head, “no, they are with syawn. Im worried that he might be-”
“He is flying”
Behind neteyam was lu’law and lu tstunwi as they held hands and smiled.
The siblings led neteyam and jake outside to join syawn who was looking up.
“What is going on??” Neteyam asks as he joins his mate.
“Lu’lafyon…..sky……up…..here……” syawn says, her finger pointing up in the sky, shaking as she couldnt believe what she was looking up. Neteyam and jake sees what she is pointing at their jaws drop.
Lu’lafyon was riding on an ikran. And not just any ikran, but the olo’eytke’s ikran. And not on its back oh no, the little one was riding on the ikrans HEAD!
“Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~!!”
Lu’lafyon cries out in glee as Ikeyni does the same as they make a loop in the air. Nothing was holding the boy down, he simply clung onto the ikran with little to no protection.
“Oh he is definitely going to ask to do that when we get back home” lo’ak says out of nowhere while he joins in on the view.
“Hell to the no” syawn replies.
“I say he will make a fine rider in our skies. I saw it in his eyes. The excitement, the thrill the young boy felt. I know that feeling all to well” tsentey days with a wide grin on his face.
He was training the young warriors when he saw ikeyni taking young lu’lafyon up to the skies with her ikran. Witnessing the boy’s big smile and cries of joy, tsentey knew from that moment that lu’lafyon would make a great ikran rider. Potential of many things.
“I merely took him for a flight since he was curious. However I dont think his parents were pleased at my reckless choice. Placing him on my ikran’s head with no security was dangerous' ' ikeyni says as she reflects on her past actions. She plans to apologize the next day, giving the poor parents a great scare.
“Yes, I will join you. There is something I would like to see for myself” tsentey whispers and he places a kiss on ikeyni’s cheek.
“And you weave it like this….yes there you go. Already catching on” ikeyni compliments lu’lafyon as he carefully makes a new bracelet with the materials made or found within the Tayrangi territory. A piece of the clan to take with him wherever he goes.
Ikeyni makes herself a bracelet as well, to match lu’lafyon.
“One down, 2 to go!” the little one says with a wide smile.
“Are you making more for your siblings?” she asks. Lu’lafyon nods enthusiastically.
“We are always together, so we should always match!”
The na’vi nods, understanding his little logic.
“Well I am sure they will love it”
She looks over to see tsentey teaching the other two siblings how to create a certain arm band. Using the skins of an animal, tsentey was careful to instruct the children. And it seemed it was not so hard since lu’tstunwi and lu’law were too focused on every word he said.
“Lu’lafyon, how about I show you something to add to the bracelet?”
Lu’lafyon gasps excitedly, his tail swaying in excitement as well “Really? Like what?”
Ikeyni grins, “it is something that you will only see and get in our clan”
A special bead, for a special child.
The next time ikeyni sees the boy, this time it was her visiting the omatikaya. The children were celebrating their 5th birthday. The sully family insisted on just celebrating within their clan, but many clans also insisted on joining in the celebration. Ikeyni and tsentey were no different. However it didn't take much words or anything to know they will have competition with the other olo’eyktans and tsahiks.
Competition for what exactly?
On who can give the best present to the triplets.
Perhaps by gaining favor, you win the triplets, you win the clan.
While ikeyni understands this as to form strong bonds and alliances. And she now knows it will take more than just a pretty gift to win them over. While at first she did struggle on how to prove it, it was thanks to her dear mate with her perfect idea.
Which is why she and tsenteyhas prepared something very special for the triplets. Not for gaining favor, but merely to show how strong their clan's bond is with the omatikaya.
So when the moment came of the triplets revealing their presents. They were in awe.
Others were left in some confusion.
“A bead?” the Zeswa olo’eykte asks.
“Not just any bead” the zeswa tashik whispers.
The triplets were holding their little beads and showing it to everyone. Their beads were of hard amber, and inside was a drop of blood.
“I Ikeyni, Olo’eykte of the Tayrangi clan, and my mate Tsentey sees lu’lafyon, lu’tstunwi and lu’law as Tayrangi na’vi. As they are of Omatikaya, there are now also Tayrangi. My home is now theirs' ' Ikeyni proudly states.
The little ones hugged her tightly in gratefulness, lu’lafyon the most.
“Does that mean we can do your clan iknimaya?!”
Lu’lafyon sully. You can ask him many things and many things he will answer. But if you ask him, “what is the best part of your life?”. That will be a very hard question, he loves everything about his life. His siblings, his family, his clan. Everything. And it will be very hard to pinpoint exactly what he enjoys the most. But he loves his life and lives everyday to the fullest.
And as such, many people he has come to meet, lu’lafyon loves them all. And one person in particular. Someone he has come to see as an aunt. The olo’eykte of the Tayrangi clan, Ikeyni.
From his earliest memories to his recent ones, ikeyni is someone he aspires to be. Strong, powerful, honorable and a good sense of humor. Lu’lafyon always sees her at the same level as his father and grandfather. From the stories he was told, ikeyni isn't someone to be taken so loosely on.
While lu’lafyon isnt sure what he wants, one thing he does have his mind set on. And that is to pass the Tayrangi iknimaya, alongside Omatikaya iknimaya. But he fears doing something like this, alone.
Being a triplet has its perks and worrying sides.
Ly’lafyon always does things with his siblings. Anything he eats, does, or participates in, so do his siblings. “Brother are you sure?” lu’tstunwi asks him one day.
Lu’lafyon nods, he may seem confident but on the inside he is very worried about what his siblings would say.
“Doing iknimaya at the tayrangi…while doing the omatikaya…” lu’law mutters, repeating what he said.
“That seems a lot. One iknimaya is already full of trials and risky paths. We would be doubling it all” lu’tstunwi says.
“I know, trust me I know. And it will seem to take much longer. I am not forcing you guys, but just asking if you are willing to do it with me”
Lu’law taps her chin for a moment before looking at her brother, “and what if we say no?”
A kind smile appeared of lu’lafyons face, “then I won't do it either”
“WHAT?!” the other lu’s shouts in unison.
“What what?”
Lu’law and lu’tstunwi get closer to their oldest sibling.
“Just because we may not want to shouldn't stop you brother, don't let our choice bring you down” lu’tstunwi says while holding lu’lafyons left hand, lu’law doing the same with his right hand.
“I know, but it wouldn't be right if I do something and you two are not part of it. If you will do only omatikaya iknimaya, then so will I. Like grandpa always says. Sullys stick together” lu’lafyon explains. A small huff escaping him, a small sound of sadness.
Lu’tstunwi and lu’law look at each other.
“You are right, sully’s do stick together” lu’law says.
“And together, we will do both,” ‘lu’tstunwi adds.
“Both?”
“Yes, Okatikaya and Tayrangi iknimaya”
“You three are insane” neteyam says with a sigh.
It was a long day for him and syawn, and to return with his children saying the more ridiculous thing they could ever come up with since lo’ak’s insane remarks.
Syawn looks at her children in worry and in surprise.
The triplets all sat in the same position, side by side, with equal determined expressions.
“You do realize that it requires double the effort? In everything?” syawn slowly asks her children, seeing if they really know what they are doing.
“More like triple the effort” lu’law says with a slight giggle. Neteyam rolls his eyes.
“This is not some game or joke you can make light of. This is serious, two iknimaya’s at once? No one has ever done it before” he adds.
“That is because no one tried. And true, why would anyone do both? But remember what ikeyni said. We are tayrangi too. But I, WE, want to prove to her that we earned it rather that simply telling” lu’lafyon says.
“Exactly, she said it. Confirmed it. Why go further? And taking your siblings down with you” neteyam presses on.
Lu’tstunwi places a hand on his brother’s shoulder as he smiles, “no down father. We see this as a great challenge. Grandfather told us how you pushed yourself to greater heights. If you can, why not us?”
Neteyam shakes his head, still in denial. Syawn places her hand on his shoulder, as to comfort him.
“No, you are doing one iknimaya and that is our clan. The trials here are deadly enough, doing further is risking your life” neteyam pushes, his voice sounding more impatient by the second.
Lu’lafyon leans forward, trying to lock eyes with his father.
“Please dad, we understand but let us try this. I want to try this. Already other clans hold high expectations from us and standards. They want to see what we triplets can do. Why not show them that?”
Syawn took a sharp turn of her neck to look at her eldest.
“What the other clans think of should not matter to you, any of you. Don't push yourselves just to satisfy the clans. You are not some spectacle to admire. You three are still children, ignoring the other’s ridiculous comments of being something greater. You three are already great in your own ways. If the reason for the tayrangi iknimaya is to impress others then forget it. I dont want you all to risk your lives for a dumb cause….damn it you are still babies!”
The triplets all lower their faces, looking down at the matted floor. Lu’law and lu’tstunwi turn to their older brother, waiting what he will do.
But lu’lafyon is still determined.
“The first trials….let us do the first trials……and if we can't keep up, we will call quits on the tayrangi and only do omatikaya….not to impress others. We just want to be the best we can be. Like you father, you and grandpa, uncle loki and everyone” lu’lafyon tries again. His eyes softened, slightly pouting.
Neteyam sees this, inwardly sighing. Ruffling his son's hair, he looks at lu’lafyon straight in the eyes, gold clashing with gold.
“The first trials…I will talk with ikeyni abouts this. I hope to see the end of the chaos you three will walk into” neteyam says.
In short, he allowed the lu’s to do the two iknimaya’s.
“Your father is right, you are insane” ikeyni says after being told the news of what the triplets plan to do.
Lu’lafyon deflates his shoulders, rolling his eyes, “I was hoping you would be on my side for this”
“Lu’lafyon, you don't have to strain yourself on this. The times you come to visit, it already proves to me you are tayrangi. Eating, sleeping, living like a tayrangi. That is all the proof I need. Don't stress your family on this' ' ikeyni says.
Secretly she would agree with lu’lafyon on doing two iknimaya but her mate, being the voice of reason when it calls for it, has shown her the massive down sides to it. It is a long grueling process, and it will be longer for the children.
“Really lu’lafyon. What is your goal in all of this? What do you desire to achieve?” she presses on.
Reading the boy’s expressions, his eyes darting left and right, tail moving slowly and low, ears pinned to the back.
“Didn't think that far did you?” she concluded.
“Its not that. Its just, i need a better goal than proving others something. I want to have a goal that can help me go further, further than anything else. But also not a goal where I can lose my mind, a goal where I stand proud with my siblings but having a path of my own” lu’lafyon confesses.
This sparked something in ikeyni. She looks outside and sees lu’tstunwi with the metkayina warriors, lu’law with the okamtikaya healers. Jake with many olo’eyktans from other clans. This gave her an idea. Turning back to lu’lafyon, she smiles.
“Become tayangi,” she says.
Lu’lafyon tilts his head in confusion.
“I will train you lu’lafyon. I will train you and let you go through the iknimaya. Your goal shall be to become the Olo’eyktan of the Tayangi clan”
Aaaaaaaaaand that is it with this one! Sorry for the long delay, I was almost done when I learned that ikeyni had a mate! So I went back to re-write some parts of the story to add him. But I hope you like it! Until next time! See ya!
Like the story, put your name on the taglist for the next chapter!

Tompìva = raindrop = your Ikran's name
te Tsyuäval Ìe'ite = your Na'vi last name
requests are open!
italic dialogue is in na'vi!
sorry i suck at summaries!
You felt the wind whip through your hair as you landed, quickly dismounting your Ikran. Your hair whipped around your face as you greeted your older sister Ikeyni, her face now painted red and white with fresh paint.
"Oel ngati kameie tsmuke," you say as she looks you over for injuries.
You feel her hand on your shoulder as she guides you away from the prying eyes of the others, curious as to what new herbs and other healing items you would bring them.
You flinch as you sit down on your mat, your sister inspecting the deep gash on your forearm. She hisses in annoyance at you, "You were told not to leave. You are the Tsakarem, future Tsahìk of our Clan. What would I do if you had-"
You cut her off as she finished rubbing herbs into your wound, "And I am fine. You don't have to worry about me! I've already had my Iknimaya, I am an adult. I can take care of myself!"
You cross your arms and turn away from her, and you feel her hand land on your shoulder.
"I only worry for you," she says as her hand leaves your shoulder, "Every other day you leave, disregarding your lessons and teachings."
Your lips twist into a frown as you turn to face her, and you open your mouth to speak but she cuts you off, taking a deep breath before she speaks, "I forbid you from leaving. No more trips to the forest, and no flying. You will focus on your lessons and become our Tsahìk."
You gasp as she turns to leave, "You cannot force me to stay here!"
You follow her outside grasping her arm, pleading with her to let you stay.
"All of the herbs and medicines needed for your teachings can be found here. There is no need for you to leave. That is final."
You watch her back as she walks away, her attention now on Nan'ti and Tsentey. You glare at her and storm to the beach, letting the warm waves lap at your feet as you rest your head on your knees.
🌊 🌊 🌊
Your fingers twist the twine of the basket, tying it into a knot, then set it aside. Rubbing your temples, you stand and stretch watching the others dive with their Ikran into the sea.
Hands land on your shoulder and you jump, falling back into the sand.
"Are you okay?" a voice asks, holding out their hand as the laughter continues.
You gratefully accept it and dust off the sand clinging to your skin and clothes, "Thank you Aya."
She gives you a small smile and grabs the now finished basket from the ground, walking to the edge of the trees.
"So... I heard you were grounded from flying, and you can't even step foot into the forest without someone else," Peyzua crosses her arms behind her back as you trail behind them, the sand turning to dirt underneath your feet as you walk.
Grumbling you snatch the basket she's carrying, "It is true. But she doesn't understand!"
Aya unsheathes her knife and cuts off a few strips of bark from a nearby tree, shaking her head, "Ikeyni only worries for you. You are the next Tsahìk. Which means you must focus on your learning, and not fly off into the forest on a whim."
You rip out a few plants from the ground and shove them into your basket, Peyzua turns to you, nodding in agreement with her sister, "Aya is right, and so is Ikeyni. You don't want them to pick another Tsahìk, do you?"
You frown, and shake your head, "Of course not, I just feel so, trapped here! And I'm never gone too long," but you know that's a lie.
You went out so often, it was a wonder that your sister didn't pick a different candidate to become Tsahìk, but when you asked, she reminded you that Eywa had willed it to be so.
Aya places a hand on your shoulder, her eyes full of sympathy, "Just listen to her, and finish your teachings. I'm sure she'll be more lenient when you finish your Tsakarem teachings and become Tsahìk."
Signing you give her a weak smile, "Maybe."
🌊 🌊 🌊
With a quick wave, you give Aya and Peyzua a smile and head off back to your room, the sand now cool beneath your feet. You're almost halfway there when you hear hushed voices coming from your sister's home. Your ears perk up in curiosity when you hear your name, and you tiptoe closer, careful not to make too much sound when you gasp.
Ikeyni stands with her hands on her hips, her red and white paint now fully washed away, revealing her dark blue skin and white freckles. Her tail flits around in annoyance as she turns to Tsentey, and a man whose face you can't quite see.
The man's voice is low as he speaks, "What do you think?"
You frown when you realize you can't recognize the language he's speaking, but continue to listen, "I do not wish for the sky people to encroach any further," she pauses, her face twisted in contemplation.
Clearing her throat, she continues, "I will send five warriors with their Ikran, but that is all."
The man sounds grateful as he responds, "Thank you, again. I'll send word again when we depart."
You feel your heart drop when you feel someone's eyes on you, and spin around spotting a boy around your age leaning against the hut across from Ikeyni's.
"Eavesdropping?" a small smile graces his lips before he takes a step toward you.
Crossing your arms you frown at him, realizing he is speaking the same language the man had been speaking earlier. "What?"
His eyes fill with confusion as he asks again in the same strange language, but you shake your head.
"You don't speak English?"
This time he asks it in Na'vi and you sigh, "No, what-"
The sound of your sister hissing in annoyance cuts you off, and she stands between you, "What are you doing up? Go to bed," she says as steers you to your room.
But the man turns to her and raises a brow, "Who's this?"
She sighs before turning to him, "My sister, our Tsakarem," she points to him, "This is Jake Sully, Toruk Makto, Olo'eyktan of the Omatikaya, sister."
The boy clears his throat, and his eyes meet yours and you can see a blush creeping up his face before Jake speaks, "This is my oldest son, Neteyam."
You give a small nod in greeting and twist a strand of your hair around your fingers.
Ikeyni gently pushes you in the direction of your hut and wishes you a goodnight.
You almost collapse when you reach your bed, your head swimming with thoughts of the conversation and questions you would be bombarding your sister with the coming morning.
But for now, you close your eyes and let the sound of the waves splashing against the sand drift you into a deep slumber.
🌊 🌊 🌊
Neteyam quickly dismounts his Ikran following his father into their hut, where his mother greets them, "What was their reply?"
She puts down the arrow she was holding and gives them both a quick hug, checking for any sign of injuries.
"They'll send five, not a lot, but it'll help," he replies before sitting in front of the fire.
Neteyam takes a seat across from his father and removes his visor, setting it to the side, "Who was that again?"
Jake looks at him in confusion, "Who?"
"The girl with the Olo'eyktan," he pauses trying to remember what was said about you, "the Tsakarem?"
Jake sighs before answering, "- te Tsyuäval Ìe'ite. She's the younger sister of the Olo'eyktan Ikeyni."
Neteyam bites his lip in thought, "Will she be coming too?"
Jake shakes his head, "Of course not."
Neteyam nods and lies down, closing his eyes, his head swimming with questions about you.
The next morning Neteyam wakes earlier than usual, carefully tiptoeing out of the hut to sit down near the lab, waiting for the others to wake up.
It's almost an hour before he sees Spider come out of the lab, and hears Lo'ak and Kiri behind him.
"Why are you up so early?" Kiri asks before he stands.
"I couldn't sleep well," he shrugs his shoulders before crossing his arms.
"Was it because of yesterday?" Spider asks, his voice full of curiosity.
"You went with dad to the Eastern Sea right?" asks Kiri as they walk to the Ikran.
Her tail swings back and forth and her mouth breaks into an excited smile, "What was it like?"
He chuckles when he thinks back to catching you eavesdropping on the conversation, a blush creeping up his neck, "It was nice, there was lots of sand, and the ocean looked like it went on forever."
"Are you blushing?" Lo'ak shouts as Neteyam turns his head away in embarrassment.
"No, now are you coming or not?" he quickly mounts his Ikran and takes off, the others calling for him to wait up.
🌊 🌊 🌊
Your face scrunches up in an attempt to hide the disgust when you look down at the basket before you. Hearing a chuckle you glance up to see Aosìng smiling at you, "I caught too many, so I thought you might want some."
You gently take the basket of fish from him, and give him a tight smile, "Thank you Aosìng, you really shouldn't have," he smiles again, his eyes landing on your lips before you shift your own away.
The wind ruffles your hair before you even feel it, a featherlight kiss, and your face crinkles in displeasure, "Anything for my future mate," he whispers before turning and running back down the beach.
You groan when you feel Peyzua's arms wrap around you and her muffled laughter as she buries her face in your neck.
"Get off, Zua!" you exclaim before pushing her away, rubbing your mouth against the back of your hand in hopes of burning the kiss away.
"So, Aosìng still likes you then? Even after last time?" she teases as she ruffles your hair.
Aya sighs in disappointment before crossing her arms, "Don't listen to her," she rubs your shoulder gently as you fix your hair.
"Another reason I have to leave," you mutter as you follow them past the other huts and grab your baskets.
Peyzua nudges you in the ribs, "Hey! It could be worse," she says as she starts grabbing herbs and loading them into her basket.
"The only reason he "likes" me is because he is Ikeyni's successor. The future Olo'eyktan, as I am the future Tsahìk."
Your knife digs into the tree before you hear someone shouting, and as they come closer you can hear the shouting your name.
"Tsakarem! The Olo'eyktan requests your presence at once."
Your lips twist into a frown and you grumble, shoving your basket at Peyzua, following the man back to the village.
Ikeyni stands at the entrance of her hut, her body now covered in fresh red and white paint as she looks down at you. You greet her and your hands clench nervously.
"You called for me?" you ask, as she gestures for you to come inside.
She takes a deep breath before turning to you, her expression unreadable before she places a hand on your shoulder, "How goes your training?"
You freeze, eyes falling to the floor. You hadn't exactly done much other than gather more herbs and tend to wounds from the fishermen, so next to zero progress had been made.
Gulping nervously you reply, "It is going well, sister," a small smile spreads on her lips as her hand falls to her side.
You shift nervously before your mouth opens and closes, thinking of how to word your question before asking, "Why was the Olo'eyktan of the Omatikaya here yesterday? And with his son too," you trail off.
She takes a deep breath, her eyes closing briefly before opening again, "I will be leaving in three days' time, to help the Omatikaya Olo'eyktan, and people."
You bite back a gasp of shock as she continues, "You will of course stay here," she pauses her eyes falling to the floor, "And I will have Aosìng join me."
You flinch at the sound of his name and cross your arms, "So, when will you return then?"
"It should not take too long, a day or two."
She turns away from you and grabs something off her table. A cool sensation wraps around your neck as she attaches a purple beaded necklace.
Leaning back she smiles, "It suits you. It was Mother's."
Smiling you thank her, "Thank you. Is there anything you need me to prepare for tomorrow?"
"No, but Nan'ti will be watching over you while I am away."
You shiver, remembering the last time she had 'watched' over you, "More like breathing down my neck," you mutter.
"What was that?"
"N-nothing!"
You rub your neck nervously before you remember your questions from last night, "What language were they speaking?"
"Who?" she asks, her voice tense as she grabs her bow and quiver of arrows.
"The Olo'eyktan and his son, what was his name again?"
You bite your lip in thought before she answers, "There are some differences between the Omatikaya's speaking and ours. So that is why you did not understand them."
You nod slowly, that did make some sense. In all your visits to the forest, you had never actually gone far enough to run into any of the Omatikaya people, so that had to be the case.
She puts her hand on your shoulder empathetically, her eyes unreadable before she speaks, "When I return, we will speak about flying and your lessons."
Her hand leaves your shoulder as she joins Tsentey, leaving you alone in the entrance of the hut.
🌊 🌊 🌊
You can already hear the lecture coming from your sister as you soar through the sky on your Ikran. Hopefully, she won't be too upset, you think to yourself as you land and dismount from your Ikran. This was your last chance at visiting the forest, seeing as you would be with left with Nan'ti while your sister helped the Omatikaya people, you wanted to make the best of it. You pat her neck gently before sending her off and continue into the forest.
Although your sister had said you could find all the herbs you needed back home, you disagreed. For example, you found that the bark deeper in the forest would heal certain wounds and injuries faster than the bark used from the trees at home. But of course, that didn't matter to Ikeyni, she still refused to let you leave. You had always wondered why, but the only answer she gave you was how dangerous it could be, because of the sky people. But you had yet to see a single one on your trips out.
"They must not have got this far yet," you whisper to yourself as you hear the sound of a twig snap.
You glanced around but saw nothing, so you continued walking, assuming it was a harmless animal. Sheathing your knife you began to walk faster, hearing strange whispers from the trees, and the snapping of branches growing ever closer.
You had almost made it over a log before you heard a voice behind you. Your ears twitch nervously as you unsheathe your knife again, suddenly wishing you had brought your bow as you take a defensive stance against the trees.
Holding your knife against your chest, you looked around the trees, your breath catching when you notice a pair of eyes behind a leaf. Slowing your breathing and you make a run toward the leaves.
You tackle the person who had been hiding behind the leaves and hold your knife against their throat, your hands shaking. Feeling sweat drip down your face, you try to remember Nan'ti's teachings on hand-to-hand combat. But then you feel something sharp against your neck.
"Let him go," a familiar. voice grits out from right behind your ear. You glare at the person pinned beneath your knife, but reluctantly toss it to the side.
You feel hands on your shoulders pulling you to your feet and the blade leaves your neck.
"Who are you?" a voice asks and you turn to see a boy just around your age standing with his knife held in front of him defensively.
Looking up at him you realize where you know him from, "Toruk Makto's son?" you question before you see recognition in his eyes.
"Tsakarem?" he asks before sheathing his knife.
Nodding you retrieve your knife and sheath it and stumble through an apology, "I am so sorry. I am not used to seeing people around when I come to gather my herbs, I must have come too far in."
Shaking his head you see the hint of a smile on his lips when the other boy interrupts, "Who is she?"
Neteyam sighs before answering, "The Tsakarem of the Tayrangi Clan."
Tilting your head in confusion you mutter, "I didn't know the Omatikaya dialect was so different."
Neteyam returns the look of confusion when he responds, "You mean English?"
Shaking your head you frown, what was English? Another Na'vi language you were unfamiliar with?
"Sorry, I'm afraid I don't know what language that is. I have never interacted with people from another clan before, so," you trail off as the two exchange glances.
"It's okay," says Neteyam quickly.
"Oh, and this is my brother, Lo'ak," he says before gesturing to the boy next to him.
You hear more branches rustle, and whispers before three more people emerge from the trees. Your hand instinctively grabs the end of your knife but you feel a hand on yours, stopping you from unsheathing it.
Looking down you see that it's Neteyam's, "It's okay, those are my sisters," he gestures to the two girls whose stares are full of curiosity, "Kiri and Tuk."
You give them a small smile before your eyes land on the third figure and flinch, taking a step back. You nearly trip over a log, but Neteyam grabs your arm and pulls you to your feet, "A sky person?" you whisper, voice full of fear as you hide behind Neteyam.
Neteyam feels his face heat up as your hands land on his shoulder, using him as a shield against Spider.
Lo'ak laughs when he realizes that you're scared of Spider, "You're scared of him?"
Neteyam smacks him before grabbing your hands and taking them off of his shoulders, "It's okay, it's just Spider. He's a friend," he reassures you before pushing you in front of him.
You feel your anxiety worsen as the older of the two girls approach, "Hi, I'm Kiri," she says as she sits down on the log facing you.
"You're not Omatikaya, are you?" she asks when she notices the confused expression on your face.
You shake your head, "No, I am the Tsakarem of the Tayrangi Clan. I am here to gather herbs," you push your hair away from your face, feeling a blush creeping up your face as she leans in closer.
"Where's that?" a second voice asks.
You look past Kiri to see a girl, who must be Tuk standing next to Neteyam, her eyes full of curiosity as she stares at you.
"It's on the Eastern Sea," you say quietly, eyes glancing up at the sky, which was once a bright blue, but is now a dark grey.
"Really? What's it like?" Kiri asks as you feel a raindrop land on your face.
Instead of answering her question, you decide to call for your Ikran, watching as she soars through the trees and lands in front of you, you coo at her, "Tam tam, Tompìva."
You hear the others look on as you pat her neck, smiling sadly as you turn to Neteyam, "It was nice to see you again, son of Toruk Makto, but I must leave, a storm is coming, and I do not wish to be stuck in it."
Neteyam frowns, he had only just met you but wished you could stay just a bit longer.
"Travel safe," Kiri says before turning to walk back into the trees, Tuk, Spider, and Lo'ak following her.
Feeling the rain pick up you turn to Neteyam and give him a small smile, sad that you were leaving so soon.
He opens his mouth to wish you a safe trip home but pauses, wondering if he'd ever get the chance to see you again he quickly tears off a feather from an arrow in his quiver handing it to you, "In case we meet again."
You smile before tucking it away in your bag, "Thank you Neteyam," you quickly mount your Ikran and take off, leaving Neteyam standing in the rain, heat rising up his face.
🌊 🌊 🌊
Pushing back your visor you dismount your Ikran, when you feel a presence behind you. Turning around you come face to face with your sister, her skin still covered in the red and white paint. Her eyes are full of anger and disappointment as she stares at you.
"You disobeyed my direct orders," her hands are clenched at her sides as she sighs, her eyes falling to the ground.
"I-I'm sorry, I just-"
"Just what?" she exclaims.
Her voice rises and you can see people sticking their heads out of the entrance to their homes, looking on in confusion.
"You have a duty to our people, as our Tsahìk, Eywa has willed it!"
Her face scrunches in anger, and her teeth are bared as she continues to berate you for not fulfilling your duties as Tsakarem. You feel your face heat up in anger and shout out, "I do not care if Eywa has willed it or not," you pause and bite your lip nervously before continuing, "And it is impossible to become Tsahìk if there is no teacher!"
You could hear the gasps coming from the homes surrounding you and took a step back towards your Ikran as Ikeyni's hands clenched into fists, "Eywa is your teacher, let her guide you."
Her voice was soft now, and she approached you as if cornering a wild animal. It was then that you heard another voice.
"Listen to her, ma tìyawn," Aosìng says before reaching out to you.
Slapping his hand away you mount your Ikran and take off, hearing your sister's anger filled voice as you fly through the sky.

I was wondering if you could do neteyam x tayrangin reader
Fly love.
Neteyam x tayrangi reader
Thank you for this request, pls send me more and check out my other neteyam works if you’re interested! I don’t have much knowledge on this clan so I apologize if it’s not very detailed.
Neteyam x gn! reader, reader is from the tayrangi clan. fluff :)
named after this song, i thought it was appropriate with the whole flying thing :)
The two of you ikrans were sleeping together when you called them to ride. Nights like this the air is crisp and cool but not cold. The bioluminescence of the plant life and the silence of your clan below sets the mood. It feels like you are the only two people in the world. You can only hear the flapping of your ikrans wings, the wind in your ears, and the laughter of your mate. Playfully swerving your ikran into his making silly faces at him as copies your movements.
After a while of flying you land in a secluded area away from the home of your people. Neteyam draps his arm around your shoulders as you admire the night sky and all of the star’s and constellations. Just as you feel yourself drifting off he turns his face to yours, he’s so close you can feel his breathing.
“I see you.”

The Arrangement (Part 1/3)
Neteyam X F!Na’Vi Reader
Word Count: 5.6K
Summary: You are outraged to find out that your mother, Olo’eykte of the Tayrangi Clan is marrying you off to a neighbouring clan. You can not think of anything worse than leaving your home and everything that you’re familiar with to spend the rest of your life with a stranger and appease an alliance between clans... only you’re then surprised to find out that your future mate is someone you have met before.
Warnings: parental issues, angst, fluff, eventual smut, not sure if there’s any other warnings for this lol
Author’s Note: This has been sitting in my drafts for months now since I’ve been ia, this pic concept has never left my mind so here it is!! There will be a part 2 & 3 for this, enjoy besties <3
“There you are maite (my daughter).” A loud authoritative voice boomed through the small cave, bouncing off the rocky walls and pulling your focus from the small, patterned beads that you were weaving into your hair. These beads were your favourite… despite trying to block out the memories which clung onto the small wooden pieces.
Fingers halting, your movements paused as you heard your mother entering your room. Luckily, she quickly pulled your focus from the deep longing thoughts which were seconds away from occurring.
“Sa’nu (Mum),” you turned and greeted her with a smile, disregarding your beads back into the wooden box on the table beside you.
As your mother stepped in to your private chambers, her posture was upright and strong as her face remained unreadable like usual…
Olo’eykte Ikeyni.
Leader of the Tayrangi Clan along the Eastern Seas of Pandora.
She was often unreadable and void of any emotion due to her strong, high status but as her daughter you saw straight through it most of the time.
She is known by many other clans as a fierce, tactical, and strategic warrior. She was a great clan leader. She had led your people for many decades now and fought beside Jake Sully, the legendary Toruk Makto, who is now the Omatikaya Olo’eyktan. He led many other clan’s in a battle against the Sky People nearly 22 years ago. At the time, the great war leader had turned to your mother, asking for an alliance with your clan, known for their large numbers and skills with Pandora’s Banshees.
“Come and fly with me.” Your mother said with a gentle smile gracing her face.
It wasn’t often that she asked you this and your arms crossed over your chest, instantly seeing through her intentions. Suspicious of what she had planned for you, you decided to cut to straight to the point with a light and teasing tone. “I am a grown woman now, Sa’nu. You do not have to make sure I am happy in the clouds with our Ikran before you inform me of something troublesome.”
She began to speak with a sigh, the corners of her lips faltering. “Oh, prrnen (baby). I fear you will not be fond of the news that I bring.”
Nerves swirled within your stomach, but you held your chin up high remaining poised just like she had always taught you. “What news? Have the Sky People returned?”
Taking a seat on a stool next to your hammock, she gazed up at your widened eyes. She shook her head. “It is not that Ma (dear) Y/N.”
“Then what is it that you fear I will not be fond of?”
Inhaling deeply, she began speaking in a calm tone. “As you know, there was a meeting between all of Pandora’s clan leaders this morning to build alliances and organise trades. A few leaders approached me proposing that they would like their sons to be muntxa (mated/married) with you.” Her eyes were firm and unwavering on your confused features whilst she continued, “I have accepted one of the clan’s proposals on your behalf.”
The air suddenly seemed thick, and your throat felt dry. Your heartbeat was all you could hear, pounding in your sharp twitching ears. Swallowing the lump in your throat, you deeply inhaled, trying to contain the flaming fire growing within you that was itching to erupt from the inside out. Your demeanour remained calm whilst you stared at your mother’s unapologetic face.
“You what on my behalf?”
“You are to be mated with the son of a neighbouring clan.” Her gaze on you held pride, not an ounce of regret.
This was not your mother. This was the fierce, strategic warrior she had always shown herself as. Would she really do this to her daughter?
“Please tell me this is not true,” you finally exhaled, hands grasping onto your hammock for support as your legs began to feel weak. Your head felt like it was spinning at a million miles per hour, and you shook your head in disgust as the taste of bile began to rise in your throat.
“It is done. You will be mated in 14 eclipses, ma maite (dear daughter).”
Two weeks. That was all the notice she had given you. The betrayal shot through your heart like the poisoned arrow of Na’Vi warrior and it felt as if the room was shrinking.
“Why are you deciding this for me? I thought you trusted me Sa’nu. I thought you understood me… understood what I wanted…”
Your eyes were turning glossy, salty tears threatening to spill over your lash line as you became overwhelmed with a variety of emotions. You thought that you mother would let you choose a mate for yourself. You thought that she would let you fall in love and choose the person you were going to be bonded with for the rest of your life.
She remained silent, sorrow briefly flashing through her bright golden orbs as she began to see you fall apart in front of her. “It will be good for you.”
A dry chuckle escaped your lips. “Good for me? You mean good for the clan! Not me, your only child!”
“Being the future Olo’eykte comes with sacrifices!” She was quick to stand up on her feet and approach you with her brows knotting together in anger at your defiance. “You have known this for your whole life-”
“Sacrifices like how Sempul (Father) died?” The tears that spilled over your lash line were hot, rolling down your blue cheeks.
Her shoulders slumped in defeat at your unexpected words.
Your father was the Tayrangi Olo’eyktan. He had died a couple weeks after the battle with the Sky People and during those last two weeks of your father’s life, your mother had found out she was pregnant with you. He fought in the battle, leading beside your mother but unfortunately suffered fatal wounds.
The clan’s Tsahìk could only help him so much before he decided to give in to the Great Mother’s call and join the ancestors. He had tried to cling onto living for you, for his mate who was with child… but the physical pain and continuous loss of blood and impending infection was too much to bear.
“Do not bring your father into this, child!” She hissed, jaw clenching as her own tears threatened to spill.
You shook your head in disbelief. “I am prepared to die for this clan. That, I will do. Like Father. But I am not prepared to sacrifice a part of my life that I am going to have to live with every single day, for the rest of eternity.”
“Many great clans have arranged for future Olo’eyktan’s and Tsahìk’s to become mated pairs. It is your birth rite.”
“My birth rite,” you scoffed, this being the first time she had ever mentioned it to you, carefully wiping at the tears on your face with your hands.
Although you weren’t oblivious to the ideas of arranged mating’s, you never thought that she would subject you to it as she had never implied it whilst you were growing up and passed your iknimaya. “You were never going to give me a choice, were you? You just decided to hide it from me?”
A sigh escaped the back of her throat. “I was going to give you a choice. I had allowed you the freedom of choosing your own mate for 21 years now. I assumed you would have mated with Ayta, but then he mated with another.”
You couldn’t help but let out a short laugh. Ayta was a dear friend of yours. A strong warrior within the clan. But a friendship was all it was and was ever going to be. He had mated with his childhood crush last year, a crush which you were very well aware of.
You had been supporting and encouraging with his advances towards his mate before they became official and mated for life.
“Time is passing, and I am growing older, maite.” She continued with frustration leaking through her tone of voice, “I want to ensure your happiness and future before my time to join our ancestors comes!”
“This isn’t about my happiness though… It is about yours!” You felt like your mother was being selfish. She was trying to make excuses and guilt you into succumbing to the idea of this arranged mating with the thought of her growing old and unfit to continue being Olo’eykte.
“Enough! I will squabble with you no more. The arrangement is done. The sooner you accept it, the better. We leave in a three eclipses to begin the preparations for your mating ceremony.”
Your heart dropped and it felt like you were seconds away from sinking into the ground. Leave? “Leave for where?”
“Don’t be so silly child.” Her tone was harsh, it was as if she was scolding you like you were merely 8 years old again and it made you want to recoil into the corner of your room. “To the neighbouring clan. You are to see your new home and meet your future mate.”
“What do you mean? This is my home. I am not leaving. How do you expect me to become Olo’eykte of Tayrangi if I will be in another clan’s village?” Your feet began to carry you, pacing mindlessly around the room. You needed to try and relieve the anxious tension hindering your mind and body.
“Because, maite, you are to become Olo’eykte of Omatikaya, beside Toruk Makto’s firstborn son.”
“Eywa, help me.” You mumbled, rubbing the sides of your head with your index fingers in prayer, wishing for the Great Mother to help you out of this mess. Out of this decision that had been made for you. A decision which you had no control over. “And what of Tayrangi then, Sa’nu? Who will now be taking my place?”
“Vaseey and Neaw will become the next Olo’eyktan and Tsahìk of Tayrangi when you leave next week.”
The mentioned pair were a few years older than you. Vaseey was one of the best Tayrangi Warriors and Neaw, his mate, just so happened to be one of the clan’s best healers.
It felt like a death sentence. Like you were being kicked out of your own home. Everything you had ever known and everything you were familiar with; you were being forced to leave it all behind. Your friends, your family, your own cave, your whole life here just uprooted and for what? To be mated with some Na’Vi you had never even met before?
You didn’t want to move away. You didn’t want to leave your home and be uprooted from everything you loved so much. You had spent your whole life preparing to lead the clan that you loved and now the title of future Tayrangi Olo’eykte was being stripped from you in order to appease a stronger alliance with another clan. You didn’t want to be another clan’s Olo’eykte.
“This is ridiculous.” You murmured, “why me? Why couldn’t you offer Toruk Makto another huntress or healer of this clan for his eldest son?”
“Toruk Makto has heard many great stories of you and the skills which you possess. You have been training to become a leader for your entire life and you are more than ready. Omatikaya requested you, you should be honoured. It is a privilege. Now, no more of this. Start packing your belongings and bidding your farewells to the people.”
{Flashback}
You were eleven years old the first time you had met him.
You had just claimed your Ikran. A small, young creature with a whirl of blue and greens coating it’s skin. You had named him Txampay (Sea/Ocean) because he reminded you of the eastern seas next to your village.
Being in the Tayrangi clan, which revolved around the Ikran, many children around eleven years old got to attempt taming one of the younger banshee’s for the first time. It was common for the children to claim and bond with the creature when they were also younger and smaller. It allowed the banshee and its rider to spend a lifetime with each other, growing up together into adulthood.
Ecstatically, you took off for your first flight after sealing the bond with Txampay. Cheers from your Mother and peers echoed in the distance. Flying was a sensation like no other. It was exciting and freeing, yet dangerous. Your adrenaline rush was coursing through your body as you erupted into laughter, directing your new friend to fly into the forest.
You flew for what felt like hours, feeling and understanding the young creature, you sat and held on tightly and in turn your ikran got to feel and understand you too.
When you landed in a seemingly clear area, you slid off the creature and broke tsaheylu.
“That was amazing!” You giggled to the creature who nuzzled it’s small head into your hands. “You’re amazing… I want to name you Txampay! You’re pretty, like the ocean. You’re amazing Txampay!”
A small crunch sounded out from behind you and you whipped your head around in alert. Your eyes flittered amongst the trees, searching for the source of noise. The lush flora gently blew in the breeze and another crunch sounded throughout the air.
Your ears shot up and your tail stiffened. You were not alone.
“W-who’s there?!” You tried to be strong and fearless like your mother, but your young voice sounded nervous. You reached for the woven strap around your chest and clutched the handle of the small dagger which it held.
A young boy’s head poked out from behind one of the large tree trunks. He had to be no more than a year or two older than you. “What are you doing here?” He asked with suspicion floating through his voice.
You froze with wide eyes, ears twitching. “I was flying my ikran.”
“Woah, you already tamed your own ikran?” His tone and eyes were filled with intrigue and excitement as a wonderous smile spread across his face. He stepped out from behind the tree and began walking over to you, clearly confident.
“Yes,” you grinned, body easing up as you knew this boy was harmless and you tucked your small dagger back into it’s sheath. You were feeling smug knowing that this boy obviously hadn’t gotten his own ikran to bond and fly with yet.
“That’s so cool! I won’t get to try and tame one for another couple years at least.” His lips formed into a small frown, eyeing up Txampy’s long outstretched wings whilst being careful to not look directly into his eyes.
“Sucks to be you then,” you giggled teasingly, lifting a hand to stroke Txampay’s head.
“Hey!” He complained and you laughed as his expression creased into one of annoyance.
“So why are you here in the forest? Where are your parents? Are you alone?”
He shook his head. “No! I’m playing hide and seek with my dad, younger sister and brother… You’re not from our village, are you?”
“Which village would that be?”
“Omatikaya!”
“Oh. I’m from Tayrangi!”
“That explains why you have an Ikran.” He mused with a nod. “So, how old are you?”
“I’m eleven!” You smiled. “How old are you?”
“Ha! I’m eleven and a half!” It was his turn to feel smug now.
“The half doesn’t count, you’re still eleven!” You quipped.
“Well, I’m still older than you,” he smirked, placing his hands on his hips and puffing his chest out triumphantly.
You rolled your eyes before grinning, “and yet, I still have an ikran before you do.”
“Don’t be a skxawng (idiot),” he laughed, “your clan revolves around the ikran and mine does not so much, it makes sense.”
You hummed at his logic.
“So what’s your name?” He finally asked.
“Y/N. What’s yours?”
“Neteyam.” Just as he announced his name with a grin, it fell from his face as a loud, deep voice echoed through the trees. “Neteyam!”
Neteyam gasped before stepping back. “That’s my dad. I have to go. Bye Y/N!”
Your small hand lifted up to wave. “Kìyevame (goodbye), Neteyam!”
-
The next time you had crossed paths with the Omatikaya boy was three years later. You were now 14.
Soaring through the air with Txampay, you grinned, staring down at the large trees which sheltered the forest. As you glanced back up you spotted another Ikran in the near distance. It’s brown and bright yellow colouring catching your gaze.
Squinting your eyes, your ikran was headed in the same direction. Both ikrans squawking at each other in greeting and as they neared each other, you got a better look at the rider and your jaw dropped.
He looked so familiar, yet so different.
The rider squinted through his visor before a smile spread across his face.
“Y/N, is that you?” He shouted through the air.
“Neteyam?!” You beamed in shock. You hadn’t seen him since you first claimed your ikran a few years ago, and by the looks of it he had finally claimed his own ikran too.
You directed Txampay to land and Neteyam soon followed after.
Sliding off the creature and onto the plush grass of the ground, you were filled with joy to see the face of someone you hadn’t expected to cross paths with again. He dismounted his ikran with a boastful smile.
“Congratulations!” You briefly clapped your hands in excitement for the boy knowing how wonderful it was to have your own banshee.
“Thank you! It’s been a long time,” he remarked, eyes trailing over your features and noting how you had grown taller and matured since he last saw you. You couldn’t help but do the same to him, noting how much he had grown too.
“Is this your first flight?”
He shook his head, hand stroking along his ikran’s neck affectionately. “I tamed Tsawke (Sun) a few months ago. She was a tough one, but I manged to get her on my first try.”
“Well done, Neteyam. Not many can do that.” You were impressed. You knew that Na’Vi from different clans usually had to make several attempted before they managed to tame and bond with Pandora’s banshees.
He smiled at your praise and stifled a laugh. “Thank you. I know, my poor little bro had to make more than a few attempts.”
You grinned, imagining how Neteyam was probably endlessly teasing his younger brother about it.
“So, how have you been?” His eyes were full of curiosity.
“I’ve started training with the clan’s warriors! Yesterday me and my friend, Ayta, began learning how to shoot with a bow and arrows.”
“No way, me too! My father started teaching me right after I claimed Tsawke.”
You both continued to converse about training classes and lives within your own clan’s, getting to know each other more but never speaking about each other’s statuses. Neither you nor Neteyam wanted to reveal that you were to be the future leaders of your clans which came with an overbearing weight at such a young age. It was nice to feel like a kid, like a teenager. It was nice to just feel normal.
Once eclipse began settle throughout the sky, you both decided to part ways as you both had to abide to curfews.
“It was nice to see you again, Y/N.”
“You too, Neteyam. I’m sure we’ll meet again!” You smiled before mounting Txampay and taking off into the dimming sky.
-
Then you had met him again, when you were 15.
Venturing out into the forest with your small bow and set of arrows, you were determined to practise your tracking and hunting skills. And it seemed as if he had the same idea, unbeknownst to you.
You stumbled across imprints of feet in the soil, weaving between the flora of the forest whilst you were trying to track down a Sturmbeest. You had no intentions to kill the creature knowing it would be a pointless kill because of the large size of it, you wouldn’t be able to move it to take it home. You just simply wanted to track and find it.
You hummed, following the footsteps which also seemed to be tracking the creature.
And then, you spotted it. The large Sturmbeest resting in a meadow. And the tracks of the Na’Vi footprints also stopped.
Quickly, you hung your bow over your shoulders and began to climb the nearest tree with your hands tightly grabbing the bark and feet pushing you up by the support of the branches. You continued to climb until you reached near the top and exhaled at the high view of the forest. The bright earthy colours satisfying your vision.
“Oh ma Eywa,” a deep voice suddenly filled your ears.
Turning your head into the direction of the voice, you spotted a young Na’Vi perched on a large branch in the next tree over.
“No way!” Your senses filled with delight, staring at Neteyam, “you were tracking it too?”
It had been a year since you last saw him again and to be honest, you didn’t think that you’d see him again.
“Yeah, I can’t believe you’re here!” He laughed.
“Shhh, it’ll hear us and you’ll scare it off!” You whispered, referring to the beast on the ground below you both.
“Please,” he scoffed with a grin, “I’m full of pure stealth.”
A small snort of laughter escaped your lips as you sat on the branch. “Yeah, sure you are.”
Soon after joking around with each other more, you both agreed to meet every thirtieth eclipse. Wanting to hang out with each other monthly to catch up seeing as you had coincidentally bumped into each other a few times now. And besides, you both enjoyed each other’s company.
You both wanted to become friends.
-
And that was what happened for the next few years. You became friends. Every month you would both meet up at a specific area of the forest and so your friendship with each other grew and blossomed.
Neteyam became your escapism and comfort. He made you feel safe and normal, he made you feel at ease and offloaded the heavy responsibilities that your mother put on you, even if he was still unaware of your status as the Olo’eykte’s daughter.
Many of your secret nights together consisted of mindless chatter, laughs, deep talks and increasingly more affectionate words as you both grew older. And as you both grew closer, you often found yourselves wrapped up in each other’s arms and staring at the stars. Neteyam would tell you that his father came from a star and talk about how much he would like to fly up to one on his ikran one day which always made you giggle because you weren’t even sure if it was possible. But you liked to imagine and dream about impossible things together.
The warmth of his body against yours and the comforting words he gave you had your heart leaping inside your ribcage every time.
You admired and adored him a lot and you found yourself looking forward to every thirtieth eclipse until one day he didn’t show up at your usual spot like you two had always planned.
You were eighteen now, your nineteenth birthday approaching in a couple of days.
After a tiring day of training with the Tayrangi warriors, you couldn’t wait to see your dear friend. The past thirty days felt like years. You missed him. You missed the young Omatikaya warrior who became your person.
“Neteyam?” You called out as you stepped into the clearing. The bioluminescence of the forest illuminated under every step you took.
Gaze flittering around in search of the boy, your lips curled into a frown as he was nowhere to be seen. This was unsual… he was never late, always right on time or already here waiting for you with open arms and wide smile before he would wrap himself around you, inhaling your sweet scent whilst telling you how much he longed to see you since the last time.
Worry began to bubble within your stomach as concern washed over your features.
Upon walking further into the meadow, a small box caught your attention. It was wooden with the most beautiful patterns engraved on it. The detailed carvings resembled two Na’Vi riding their ikran in the clouds.
Your fingers wrapped around the smooth box, fingertips grazing over the patterned indents. It was you and Neteyam with Txampay and Tsawke.
It was beautiful, yet you weren’t sure how to feel about it.
You cautiously removed the lid and your eyes fell upon a piece of paper with ink writing on it.
“Happy Birthday, yawntutsìp (darling). I hope you like them.” You read the note out loud. It was from Neteyam. He was the only one to call you ‘yawntutsìp’ and your heart sunk.
Why couldn’t he have given you this in person? He had never not showed up before.
You decided to wait for him. Maybe he was just running late. But why would he just leave this here?
Peering further into the box after removing the note, a small gasp left your lips upon seeing the most beautifully patterned colourful beads, much like the ones he wore himself. Your heart fluttered at the thought of him wanting to wear matching beads with you.
Where was he? Where was your Omatikaya Warrior?
That night you stayed and waited. And waited. And waited. Until the next day when the sky was bright again and the bioluminescent forest faded into daytime.
He never showed up. And you never saw him again. You kept to your arrangement with him for the next few months, always being in the forest at the right place and the right time. But every time he wasn’t there, your heart broke more and more, and eventually you stopped going.
{Present Day}
Your fingers twirled around the beads on your braids and a sigh escaped your lips. You were leaving for the Omatikaya Village today. You were being forced away from the home you had loved so much and were being forced into a new one, to be mated with a stranger.
You and your mother had barely spoken over the past few days as you were beginning to hold resentment towards her for the decision she had made on your behalf.
“Are you ready?” Ayta’s deep voice entered your ears and you heard him groan in annoyance as his mate slapped his arm.
“Of course, she’s not. She doesn’t want to leave!”
Stifling a laugh, you turned to face the couple with teary eyes.
“Oh, Y/N. Come here.” She pulled you into a tight embrace and soothingly rubbed your back.
Ayta smiled sympathetically and wrapped his muscular arms around you both. “I’m sorry, Y/N.”
“You’ll visit often right?” You attempted to blink your tears away as the couple embraced you.
“Of course!” Atya murmured, holding you and his mate tighter.
You wished you didn’t have to leave. The weight on your chest was heavy. What if Toruk Makto’s son was awful and rude and arrogant? What if he had no desire to even mate with you? What if the people of Omatikaya wouldn’t accept you?
“Maite! Come, it is time.” Your Mother’s low voice filled the air as she mounted her ikran after securing her luggage onto the creature.
-
The journey to the Omatikaya village passed by in a blur. Your anxious thoughts were swirling around overtaking your focus. Your mother and her ikran soared ahead of you, accompanied in the air by two Tayrangi Warriors who belonged to your clan’s council.
“Oh, Txampay.” You sighed, leaning in to your now fully grown ikran. He clicked his tongue, worrying about your sour mood as he attempted to calm you down through the vibration of purrs rumbling from his body.
In a matter of hours, your fate was sealed to be mated with someone you had never met before. A heaviness settled on your shoulders whilst you tried to suck in and push down all of your emotions in an effort to put on a neutral front as you ascended to the Omatikaya Kelutral (Hometree).
There was buzzing as the four ikrans landed in the opening under the tree. The Omatikaya people gathering and murmuring in excitement at the arrival of you. Their future Olo’eyktan’s mate-to-be. Their future female leader. The woman who was expected to bless the clan with the next Omatikaya heir.
An unpleasant shiver ran down your spine at the thought of having to perform these duties with someone you had never met before, all for a clan which was not your own and was probably never going to be wholeheartedly.
A large, buff and tall figure emerged from the crowds, decorated in eccentric beading, feathers and woven materials. The people cleared a pathway for their current Olo’eyktan who was followed by a strikingly beautiful woman who moved with stealth etched into her bones, also decorated in accessories resembling the large Na’Vi now beside her.
Your eyes followed the pair, instantly understanding who they were. Toruk Makto and his mate, she was certainly a fierce warrior like your mother.
Your mother dismounted her ikran, being followed by the two warriors as you did the same. Her gaze met yours as if to tell you to walk over and show your respects with her. With a small curt nod, your legs shook slightly as they carried you forward. The gazes of hundreds of Na’Vi flittering over your body, assessing you. Judging you.
Once you and your mother were a about a meter away from Toruk Makto and his mate, the two Tayrangi warriors a few steps behind you both, your mother began to speak.
“Jake Sully, Leader of Omatikaya and Toruk Makto. Oel Ngati Kameie (I see you).” She rose her fingers to her forehead, bringing them back down slowly before repeating the action as she faced his mate. “Neytiri te Tskaha Mo’at’ite. Oel Ngati Kameie.”
You repeated your mother’s actions, signing as you spoke your greetings of respect to the Omatikaya pair. Your throat felt tight. They were going to be your parental figures here. Your ‘In-Laws’ as you had learnt the Sky People called it.
As Jake and Neytiri formally greeted you and your mother back, you tuned out of the conversation which began to occur with your ears twitching; eyes drifting and taking in your surroundings.
The plushness of the flora which surrounded Kelutral was breathtakingly beautiful.
“Please, come.” Neytiri suddenly motioned you to follow her with a small smile, pulling you out of your focus on the forest. “I would like to welcome you into our home.”
That earned a light smile from you. You could tell that despite Neytiri’s fierce front, she wore her heart on her sleeve.
Gently, her hand rested on your shoulder as she pulled you away from her mate and your mother, muttering something about them needing to sort out arrangements for the ceremony. At the mention of the latter word, you gulped in frustration, almost forgetting the real reason you were here for a brief moment.
The crowd slowly cleared off out of respect, knowing you’d need privacy with your future mate’s mother as she began to lead you down a short woodland trail until you reached a large hut.
“Your village is beautiful.” You commented as you reached the hut.
Neytiri grinned, “quite different from the Eastern Seas, yes?”
“Indeed.” You nodded whilst she lifted the flap of the entrance and stepped inside, holding it open for you to follow. “Irayo (Thank you).”
As you stepped into the home of Toruk Makto and his mate, you didn’t know what to expect but it certainly wasn’t a young girl squealing with excitement as she chased a boy who seemed to be a year or two younger than you with a girl a similar age and an elder sat by the open fire in the centre of the hut weaving.
‘Tuktuk! Lo’ak!” Neytiri raised her voice in order to scold the two running around when she had brought a guest into their home, announcing her presence.
Everyone in the room suddenly paused, eyes flickering to you.
The young girl gasped. “Is this, Y/N?”
“I am.” You smiled at her and she waved back shyly with a sly grin.
“Damn,” the older boy, Lo’ak, breathed out, eyes trailing up and down your body earning a clip around his pointed ears from Neytiri.
You wanted to laugh but swallowed it down, tail whipping side to side.
“Y/N, I would like for you to meet my mother. She is Tsahìk. Mo’at.”
The elder woman sitting, now rose to her feet and walked over to you, eyeing you sceptically before her lips broke out in a smirk as her gaze lingered on the small wooden beads in your hair. “We have been waiting for you a long time, yawntutsìp.”
A wave of nausea overtook your body at the name, nobody had ever called you that apart from him. The memories made your heart ache. He made your heart ache. Even until this day, you longed for him, desperately wondering why he disappeared.
You knew the Tsahìk knew more than what she was letting on.
You also knew that she could see right through the smile you gave her as you leaned forward, lifting your fingers to your forehead in a respectful greeting.

The Ikranä Maktoyu (‘banshee rider’)
Pairing: Neteyam x TayrangiClan!Reader
Summary: There was nothing you thought you couldn’t do. So, when the eldest son of Toruk Makto challenges you to a race on your Ikran? Well, you never were one to run from an honest challenge. Especially when you had the fate of your feelings riding on the line.
Note: This is my first Fanfiction for Avatar and specifically WoW. This doesn't follow any sort of plot, so it's not technically necessary to have watched the new movie. Anyways I hope you enjoy xx
Warnings: Fluff, Enemies to Lovers (kind of?), Blood. Kissing? idk. This is a long one. I like to give my fanfics context, ok?? lol
Word count: 4,203
As far as you were concerned you couldn't be any different from the similar blue skinned Navi in front of you. While you were used to more complicated headdresses, and guarded expressions, these Forest children of the Omaticaya clan, wore little and expressed much. Several Tayrangi Clan members and you had journeyed vast from the Eastern Sea to meet with the Omaticaya people and its fairly new leader, Jake Sully.
Your mother had brought you up on the story of Jake Sully's arrival, on how the Toruk Makto had led all the clans together in harmony in order to rid your home planet of the humans who were intent on destroying it. Everything about Omaticaya had fascinated you, but as you grew so did your responsibilities, and now you reserve your emotions to plain passiveness.
This was mostly due to the fact that the people were so much different from your own. Tayrangi had long been separated and socially outcasted due to their spirited independence, and the Omaticaya people had once despised it. However, times had changed, and as your mother fondly admitted to yourself, new beginnings can bring new outlooks.
So, there you sat, trying to hold in any regard of the Omaticaya children in front of you, who had been introduced upon arrival as the Olo'ekytan's children. The youngest and giddiest, Tuktirey, smiled brightly at you as if she noticed your presence for the first time since you had been there.
"Come play with us, y/n! We were just about to go out into the forest." Tuktirey laughed, as she tugged on her elder sister's hand. Kiri looked up at you with a shy smile, and for some reason it made your heart warm.
They were very sweet children, most of them at least. Upon your clan's arrival to the forest, you were bombarded by the sounds of Ikrans all around you. While you were mostly familiar with the sound, the laughter and rambunctious noise as they swooped across the trees startled your clan. Who was behind the wonderful greeting? None other than the eldest of Jake Sully's children, who you were introduced to through a flurry of apologies as Lo'ak and Neteyam.
Each bore a startling resemblance to their kinfolk, and by closer inspection you saw the youngest of the brothers resembled the same five fingered trait as his father. He was the most feigned of the two, which made you suspect this wasn't his first time having to apologize. Neteyam was sincere in his apologies at the least, the perfect mockup as the prodigal son, burdened since birth you could tell.
However, something about Neteyam made your heart race just a little faster. Perhaps it was the way he laughed, and his broad shoulders lifted up ever so slightly. Or maybe it was the way he looked into your eyes, and you felt the weight of the world fall endlessly at your fingertips. Either way, you made sure you kept your feelings in check. You had goals in life, and you wouldn't let some skxwang (idiot, moron) mess it up.
"I was hoping to head near the top of the mountains. It's actually really beautiful to see near sunset." Kiri voiced out, the sound startling you out of your memories, as she looked back to see Tuktirey jumping for joy.
"Mom never lets us go out there before dinner, but maybe she'll let us since you're here!" Tuktirey laughed as she began to beckon us to follow her.
"We can go, but we've got to wait for Spider. He should be here any minute." Kiri rolled her eyes, before glancing back in apology for her sister's rambunctious nature.
"You called?" You heard a male voice call out from behind you, your body jumping in fear. You were used to the rocky shores of your homeland providing you a sense of hearing, but now that you were hidden between the sounds of the forest, you couldn't quite gather your surroundings.
"Spider! There you are, where were you?" Kiri exclaimed, as you watched to see the human jump from a fallen tree limb, as he laughed underneath his mask.
When you had first taken a glimpse of a human on Pandora, it had not been under good circumstances. It was as the RDA had begun to shuffle their way out, but the memories from your older clan members had done enough to make you hold reservations against them. Even though you had been told of Spider's upbringing, you couldn't help but feel as if his alliance did not stand completely still against one side.
Spider glanced your way, a careful nod towards you, before pulling on Kiri's tail in playfulness. Kiri hissed as she smacked him away, him dodging her advances. Before you knew it, they were in their own little world arguing about something leaving Tuktirey to sigh in impatience.
"Guys can you stop! We have to get going!" Tuk complained. Kiri looked up as she glanced your way in apology. She beckoned Spider to follow us, as we began heading through the thick jungle.
You watched in hesitance as the Sully clan leaped and bounded across tree limbs and small streams. Syaksuk (lemurs) danced across the forest vines, their playful voices echoing around as they swung. Every so often Tuk would stop, playing with some sort of creature or fauna before Kiri or yourself would have to get her away from the distractions.
The trek was long, but it resembled your own passages on top of jagged rocks, trying to avoid falling. You laughed as you tried to keep up with the Omaticaya children, your passive disposition beginning to fade away. You actually felt really happy.
At this point in the day the light in the sky was beginning its descent, and you had just reached a parting in the densely bushed trees. Pushing forward, you followed Kiri and the rest stopped at what you could tell was an overlook. Pushing back a stray vine, your eyes widened before looking up.
There it was. Out of everything you had heard of the Omaticaya clan growing up, Ayram Alusing (The floating mountains) was the most magical. Your arrival to the clan had been up these very floating rocks. You could almost see the activity where the clan resided near the Tree of Souls.
"Mons Veritatis." You heard Spider whisper in awe, your gaze settling to where he looked to see one of the tallest mountains you had ever seen. Its top didn't even reach vision, the dense vog settling eerily to the distant calls of the Ikrans.
It made your heart thump in excitement at riding your Ikran across the sky.
"Iknimaya. It is our rite of passage to ride our Ikrans. You do the same right?" Kiri looked over at you, noticing your excitement with a smile.
"Yes, although I'm not sure which is more dangerous." You laughed as Kiri giggled, latching onto Tuk's hand.
"Well, there is only one way to find out."
You were startled by how quickly they began to race across the overlook and jump onto the vines. Your heart began to thump as you scaled the rocks higher up into the sky. You looked down to the steep fall below, wondering if you had just enough time to call for your Ikran to save you if you fell.
You were surprised that with each step it got easier, and even Spider, who was not built for Pandora's harsh terrain, kept up almost effortlessly. Maybe that was why they called him monkey boy.
"We're almost there!" Tuk squealed, as the sound of the Ikrans could be heard louder. The waterfalls were louder too, and you felt a strange lightness as you along with the rest of the group slowed down as you neared an alcove.
"There they are." Kiri said, pointing over to the left side of us where the Ikrans nested. The backdrop the rest of the way was beautiful as the Sun began to hang low, and the outline of the gas giant was visible.
You felt yourself wanting to ride your Ikran Payngyì , remembering that the hangar in which she resided was not too far away, and perhaps you could reach her.
Before you could debate it further a call could be heard, the voice sounding familiar, as you began to recall back to before and your arrival to Omaticaya.
Neteyam.
His Ikran soared across the sky, the multicolored blues of its wings casting shadows in the sky. Neteyam held strong to his Ikran, a symbol of good ability and you couldn’t help but feel your heart race at the sight. He swooped below, somehow spotting us in the little opening that we stood.
Spider began whooping, before you looked over to see Kiri rolling her eyes.
“It’s so obvious he’s trying to show off.” Kiri snarked, the signature fourteen year old attitude dripping off of her like hot honey. You couldn’t help but chuckle, before looking back towards Neteyam.
He now perched his Ikran where we were, his hushed whispers calming the still active creature. Looking over towards us, he swung his legs off the Ikran, before lifting his Ionar (rider's mask) and grinning.
“So, how long until Mom punishes you guys for being up here now?” Neteyam laughed at his siblings, before looking over at you. He pushed his head forward, and signaled a greeting. “Oel ngati kameie”
You felt your face heat up, as you returned the gesture haphazardly. “Oel ngati kameie.” Usually it came to you like clockwork, but you were quickly starting to realize even everyday tasks came awkward and jumbled when he was around.
Neteyam shifted his head in curiosity, before looking back at his siblings. “You know this won’t be a good impression to the Tayrangi clan if we keep breaking rules.”
“No. That was you and L’oak. Y/n wanted to be here.” Kiri sassed, knocking Neteyam over the head who groaned in playfulness.
“Mom will let us be here if y/n is here. She is a fierce hunter!” Tuk replied looking up to her older siblings.
Neteyam looked back at you, and the same expression graced his face. Can he seriously stop staring at me like that? It’s like he’s looking into my soul. You thought quietly, albeit returning his stare.
“Is that so?” Humor now splashing his face as he laughed. You frowned at his obvious display of mockery. “Pray tell me, where’s your Ikran now?”
Something in you snapped and whatever ounce of female gaze you had for him went away, and a competitive nature overtook you. “Where your clan resides. Why do you sound so shocked?”
Neteyam’s eyes lit as he watched you begin to challenge him with your voice. Something about the way your eyes squinted, or the way your soft lips titled in a scowl made his heart race in excitement.
Ever since your arrival he couldn’t help but find any way of talking to you, being near you, anything. He would be lying if it wasn’t driving him mad, especially when his siblings were beginning to pick up on it.
“I’m not. I just…” Neteyam paused thinking about his words before smiling deviously. Your head tilted as you began to realize what he was about to ask you.
“Do you care for a race? Since you’re a fierce hunter, I’m sure you and your Ikran can make a fine challenge for mine.” Neteyam crossed his arms, his mouth trying to hide the obvious nature of trying to get you to blow your temper.
“Now I would pay to see that.” Spider laughed looking over to Kiri who was shaking her head.
“Alright, what are the odds then?” You replied, your hand already itching to latch onto Payngyì.
“If you win, I’ll cover for you in case we get into trouble after this.” Neteyam shook his head in humor.
“And if I don’t, what… I’ll be thrown off the mountains for all of eternity?” You laughed.
Neteyam smiled widely before shaking his head. He began to walk towards you, and the feelings that you had pushed back in place of competition started coming back all at once. He leaned down, a wonderful scent invading your nose before whispering in your ear. “You owe me a date.”
You tried to hold in the gasp that threatened to push out, your head which had been cast down tilting up toward his own, very near face. “Deal.” You whispered. You watched as the corner of his eyes crinkled in amusement, the ghost of his touch passed your waist, before standing back. “Call to your Ikran.”
You wasted no time in standing closer to the edge, letting out your familiar call in hopes Payngyì would hear. You were right, as a few moments later her beautiful light blue figure flapped its wings and perched with a sounding screech.
You walked over to her, the beautiful golden shade of her pupils dilated as you gazed into her, petting her slowly in greeting. You looked over to Neteyam with a nod. “What are the parameters?”
Neteyam points out past the Tree of Souls to where a carefully arched connection of vines floated two mountains. “Over there, a little stretched away from where the camp is.”
You looked at him curiously, and he seemingly read your mind in the instant it crossed your face.
“Trust me it will be a challenge. The mountains move quickly, and you have to be careful to not hit anything.” Neteyam walked over to his Ikran, leaping up onto it.
You climbed up on your own, latching onto the Tsaheylu (bond/connection), feeling Payngyì screech, and her breath beginning to pump as she anticipated your next move.
“You can do it y/n!” You heard Tuk cheer, looking over you watched Kiri look at you with careful caution.
“Be careful. My brother is stupid, but he knows these mountains well. As much as it pains me to say it, he is one of the best hunters.” Kiri grimaced, Neteyam cheering out in response to her compliment.
“Are you ready, y/n?” Neteyam looked over at you with a wide smile.
You couldn’t help your own smile grace your face, nodding before him.
“I will see you at the finish line, then.” He winked, and suddenly you had forgotten there ever was a race, before watching as he dove his Ikran down, and upwards into the sky.
“Oh sh-” You exclaimed with a huff, following after him, the legs of Payngyì tightening, her wings closing in downwards. You felt the gust of air and you were suddenly very laser focused on winning. Not because the bullshit win might not guarantee you a harsh scolding afterwards, but simply to beat Neteyam. A man that was so intently after your own heart. And winning.
You saw him not too far in the distance, realizing there had to be a shortcut or some way to catch up to him and gain more speed. You tightened your hold on Payngyì, her voice squawking out as you nearly collided with a mountain that was moving closer to your right side. You banked left, realizing the air was a lot similar to that of the Eastern Sea.
Before in races, you would use the wind speed to gain traction by going downwards and upwards. This worked even better, once you realized that Neteyam in the distance was having to lose traction to weave through the mountains.
“Come on Payngyì.” You whispered, feeling her move exactly what you had in your mind, soaring upwards and downwards, before realizing you were nearing the tree of souls and the archway.
Neteyam glanced behind you with a fierce look in his eyes, before banking off and passing behind a particularly large mountain. You frowned realizing the same mountain that was coming left was now barreling toward you. You gasped narrowly escaping the bottom as you dived downward.
You must have startled Payngyì, because now she strained on your hold, and you could feel the fear in the bond. She began to slow down much to your disappointment, as you tried to push her forward.
All of the sudden you heard Neteyam fly past you from the opposite side he had come from. Payngyì, who had already been startled by the unfamiliar mountains, saw the shadow of his Ikran and screeched before diving again this time barreling towards the cliffs. You screamed, urging your Ikran to pull up but to no avail.
Neteyam must’ve seen the whole thing as you heard him call out to you. “Quickly this way!” He cascaded his own Ikran near the rocks, trying to keep Payngyì from hurting herself. In the process of pushing your own away from the cliffs, you watched as his shoulder scratched against jagged rocks, his skin tearing up. “Shit.” He swore.
“Neteyam!” You yelled, sighing in relief as he managed to pull his own Ikran away from the cliffs and fly smoothly next to mine. “Are you alright?”
“Yes…” He groaned, his injured arm locking up as his face squinted into a scowl. “I think-hold on…”
“Neteyam… do we need to stop?” You replied in concern, worried for the fact that his injury had begun to slowly bleed.
“Uh yeah…maybe…” His words now stuttering, looking at you in embarrassment. “Look, let's not go back to camp, I won’t be able to make my promise to you if we do.”
“If I was that worried about that Neteyam, I wouldn’t have agreed to this race.” I huffed. “Where do you want to go? You need care, you’re going to bleed out.”
“No, I know a place.” Neteyam grimaced, beckoning you to follow him. “Follow me.”
You grappled at the possibility of finishing the race or saving Neteyam, as you realized the way he was taking you was straight past the archway. He’s going to win, and I’ll owe him a date. You shook your thoughts from your mind, realizing any race or date was far from the task at hand, and making sure Neteyam is safe was more of a priority.
You sailed through the sky, the sun now setting, and the realization that your own mother and clan will be very disappointed if you embarrassed them by arriving past curfew. “Shouldn’t we just go back? I just don’t understand how any place we’re going will help you or anyone’s case.”
Neteyam, who had gone quiet, shook his head. “There is a place on the ground near the tree of souls not far from camp. Our ancestors used to go there because it possessed great healing powers. That’s where we get most of our medicine.”
You stared at him, his braided hair flying in the wind and his eyes focused intently on the mission ahead. It made you realize just how deeply he knew about his clan, and the role he knew he would have to serve one day. It made you look at him differently, and not just as a headstrong boy. He was a leader, he would be their savior one day.
As you neared the forest floor you saw a few spirit trees up ahead and a small rocky alcove. Resting both of your Ikrans on the floor, you realized the forest was beginning to come alive with its beautiful glow.
Neteyam grumbled, holding onto his arm loosely before looking up at me. “Uh.. if you grab some of those nearby plants-” You held up a hand, taking over realizing this routine was much similar to that of your clan near the Eastern Sea. Many times, you had to seek out ways to produce medicine for your injured clan, and the forest was no different.
“Sit down.” You ordered, pushing him down his mouth beginning to move in protest. “It’s the least I could do. You saved my life.” You looked down at him before turning back and grabbing some plants to make some sort of salve.
“Thank you.” You heard Neteyam quietly speak, feeling his eyes staring intently at your back. Your face heated up, grabbing a nearby rock and beginning to mash a few plants together.
You turned around, meeting his eyes who looked almost fascinated at you. You scrunched your face, and for the first time voiced your opinion. “Why do you always stare at me like that?”
“Like what?” Neteyam whispered, the nearness of your body to his and possibly the loss of blood making his voice go hoarse.
“Like…you’ve known me all your life or something.” You began applying the makeshift salve to his cuts, making him hiss in alarm. “Stop moving.”
“Well sometimes I think I do. You’re unlike anyone I’ve ever met.” Neteyam reached out his free hand, stopping you in your tracks. Your ears flicked in curiosity, before you shrugged his hand off of yours so you could continue. “Why do you ignore me?”
“I don’t.” You frowned, now suddenly very intent on helping bandage his arm, and stop from blurting out every ounce of feeling you have all at once. “You just-” You paused before continuing. “All the other boys in my clan have never once been so intent on getting my attention. Not that I want it but- you seemingly always do. And I-”
“Secretly like it?” You scoffed watching Neteyam’s mouth form into a wide smile.
“You’re a skxawng you know that?” You hissed, wrapping the bandage a little tighter against his arm much to his chagrin. At this point in his bandaging process, you had knelt next to him, and not realizing your nearness to him until you looked up to see his face so close to yours.
You inhaled that wonderful scent again and this time there was nothing to pull either of you away from each other. Neteyam closed in first, wrapping his uninjured hand onto your cheek softly, pulling you in for a kiss.
Wow. You thought to yourself. His lips were just as delicate as you had imagined them to be, yet strong and firm. You felt yourself move your own lips against his until both of you were passionately locked in one another. You felt his arm slide against your waist as you gasped, pulling you into his lap. Your mouth moved fervently against his, feeling the way he groaned beneath you. Something about the moment was complete bliss, and suddenly you were far away from your worries and goals in life, and all you wanted to do was to be wrapped in his arms for all eternity.
It all came to a halt when you felt his bandage arm try and glide against your body to pull you further down before the pain tore through. “Damn it!” Neteyam cursed, as you both pushed away in alarm. Your eyes widened as you fell away from his arms looking frightened at hurting him, but also at what had just transpired.
Looking around you realized it was now nightfall and most definitely one skip away from being permanently grounded forever. The spirit trees moved as the wind passed them by, a few sacred seeds falling around both of you, most definitely aware of what had just transpired from you.
“I’m sorry.” Neteyam apologized, his breath still uneven, and his mouths a bit swollen from your own lips. If it had been any other situation you would have climbed back into his arms, but you realized you definitely should be heading back. Getting up from your position, your hand reached to grab his uninjured one.
“We should get going.”
Neteyam stuttered before grabbing onto your hand and standing next to you. “I- Don’t you want to talk about what just happened?” His hand swept across his face. “So does this mean…?”
“I-” You were at a loss for words. “I don’t know.”
Neteyam laughed before shaking his head. “You are unlike any female I’ve met.”
You bit your lip as you shook your head, laughing with him. “Look, I’m not sure if I’m-”
“Before you say anything.” Neteyam said, grabbing your arm to keep you from walking away. “Can I take you out on that date anyways? Since I figured it was a tie, and I was going to try and cover for you anyways.”
“I don’t think anything will save either of us from punishment, Neteyam.” You chuckled, shaking your head, before turning around and making your way back to your Ikran to fly back to camp.
“So?” Neteyam called back to you, as you heard his steps race toward your own. You turn around watching as he got closer and everything that had just transpired came rushing in.
“Yes.” You smiled. You realized there was nothing stopping you from him. You spent so much of your life running from love because you thought it would stop you from achieving your goals in life. That was until you met Neteyam, and suddenly you couldn’t imagine your life without him. You were hopelessly in love. “As long as you promise you can kiss me just like before.”
Neteyam grinned, before nodding, grabbing your waist and pulling you in close. “Deal.”
And just like that, you had fallen for the Ikranä Maktoyu, with no chance of catching yourself either.

You
Lo'ak x Tayrangi! Reader
Warnings: mistaken identity kind of, teens having fun, arranged marriage, fighting/arguments, how they meet is very 101 Dalmatians and i love it, they're both oblivious asf
Neytiri sent Lo'ak to go collect fruits from the grove near the other end of the Omaticaya territory. Normally he'd complain about extra chores, but not today. It was one of the better tasks to be landed with, anyway, even if it would consume his whole day.
But then Jake said Lo'ak could take his ikran, and that would cut the journey in half at least. Maybe more, since Lo'ak, like every other teenager, was all too fond of letting his ikran set the pace. Which, more often than not, simply meant break-neck speed, especially since Lo'ak's ikran was as young as himself in ikran years, according to Neytiri, and just as headstrong.
Lo'ak's ikran, named Spitfire by Jake in one of his rare moments of fatherly affection, was raring to go, practically launching himself into the air the second Lo'ak settled on his back and made the bond.
Kiri had, at one point, taken to calling the ikran Spitty, resulting in Lo'ak pitching a fit and pulling her hair, which then meant days of not speaking to each other. Lo'ak still got sulky every time he remembered the undignified name.
Lo'ak whooped, punching his fist in the air, gripping tightly with his thighs and trusting Spitfire not to let him fall, or at least to catch him if he did. The wind whistled past him, snatching at his braids, whipping a brisk flush into his face.
It was a good day. The sun was already high in the sky, warm on his back despite the wind. The air was heady with the scent of flowers coaxed into bloom by the warm weather, even at this height.
Spitfire, after a little urging from Lo'ak, evened out, gliding smoothly through the sky, occasionally letting out a screech of contentment. Lo'ak settled back, keeping one hand on the handle and feeling for the pouch strapped across his hips Neytiri had given to him to store the fruits in, making sure it was strapped on securely.
It wouldn't take him long to gather enough fruits to satisfy Neytiri. Maybe a few hours.
Maybe more if he decided to take a nap. Lo'ak loved naps, especially deep in the forest amidst the undergrowth, where he could burrow himself into the sun-warm grass and no one would bother him for hours. He probably liked them so much because they restored all the energy he burned living up to Jake's expectations. Very high expectations.
Yeah, he could use a nap. It was just that kind of day.
And it would give him time to think, too. About what his parents had told him a few days ago. About how, since Neteyam had mated with the youngest child of the Olangi olo'eyktan, Lo'ak would do the same, but with the only child of the Tayrangi olo'eykte.
It would benefit the Omaticaya, Neytiri had soothed him, smoothing a hand over his braids. These kinds of unions would prevent any conflict and better the relationships with other tribes. Jake, on the other hand, had told him there was no wriggling out of it, and he'd be mating with this stranger before the end of the year whether he liked it or not.
Comforting, right?
Neteyam had tried to comfort him over it. It was easy for Neteyam. He and his mate were arranged too, but they were crazy about each other, and Neteyam had always wanted to settle down and have a mate of his own and a family anyway. It was why he'd bent so easily to their parents' decision.
And it was easy for Kiri too. She was their dad's favourite, his babygirl. She wouldn't get married off to Aonung or some other guy if she didn't want to. Lucky shit.
Tuk was... well, she didn't have to worry about marriage for a good while yet.
But Lo'ak did. He didn't care about maintaining good relationships with other tribes, or having a mate of his own and settling down. He didn't care about any of that shit. He just wanted his freedom, and the freedom to choose who he mated with. Was that too much to ask?
Apparently so.
Spitfire shrieked, and a ripple of confusion and panic hit Lo'ak through the bond, right as something large and colourful shot past them like a flash of lightning.
Lo'ak caught a glimpse of a face with an equally panicked expression, then swore as Spitfire reared and shrieked again. Though this time, instead of confusion in the bond, all Lo'ak felt was a sudden burst of childish joy, right before Spitfire dived after the other ikran.
Lo'ak yelled in exhilaration as both ikrans went into a nosedive, and crouched low over Spitfire's back, knuckles going white as he tightened his grip. It was dangerous, and if his parents found out, he'd never hear the end of it, but they weren't here now and Lo'ak found this was too much fun for him to care.
He whooped, and heard an answering cry from the rider of the other ikran below, you, which made something in his heart twist with further excitement.
Spitfire was uncontrollable with the excitement of having what was probably another young ikran to play with, and Lo'ak let him have his head, content to just go along for the ride.
The other ikran straightened out before it hit the canopy, and Spitfire followed, flying alongside, steadying himself with a few flaps.
"Sorry," you called, face flushed and apologetic, but then began laughing breathlessly. "Great Mother, I am so sorry! Kikorangi- my ikran- saw you down below and he just took off-"
"It's okay," Lo'ak shouted back, smiling uncontrollably at you. You were probably the most attractive person he'd ever seen, so one couldn't exactly blame him for being so quick to forgive you for the scare. "But I've never seen you before. You're not Omaticaya, are you?"
He didn't have to ask. He knew you weren't. You looked like a young warrior from another tribe, like him. Your skin was covered in a pearly white paint, in swirling patterns. It was mesmerising.
"What?" you called, then raised your eyes skyward, laughing again. "I can't hear you. Wait there."
Lo'ak blinked, confused, as you steered your ikran up and over his head, flying along above him. He tilted his head back, looking up, trying to see what you were doing, only to nearly smack heads with you. You were performing some risky manoeuvre, sliding around to the underbelly of your ikran, gripping on with only your thighs, swinging upside down and smiling at Lo'ak, eyes bright and beautiful, nose nearly brushing against his.
You chuckled at his stunned expression, then righted yourself and leapt down onto Spitfire, breaking the bond with your own ikran. Spitfire jerked at the foreign addition to his cargo, and tilted his head, shooting you a baleful look.
Lo'ak stiffened as you seated yourself behind him, one arm loosely around his stomach, making his abs tense beneath your warm skin, your thighs pressing against his own. "Sorry, what were you saying?" you asked airily, mouth next to his twitching ear, like this wasn't the most intimate position he'd ever been in.
Words failed him. He could only hold very still, in the hopes you wouldn't become uncomfortable and move away. He liked having you there, the weight of your body against his back comforting.
But you shifted back, away from him, laughing again, and the sound rang through his mind, etching itself into the walls of his skull. "Sorry," you apologised for a third time. "I didn't mean to freak you out."
"It's okay," Lo'ak replied almost robotically, words feeling clumsy and foreign on his tongue. Great Mother, get it together! he told himself firmly. There's a beautiful warrior cuddling up to you, wanting to talk and all you can say is it's okay?!
He forced himself to relax, turning his head and smiling crookedly at you over his shoulder.
Your face was like the sun. You seemed to be lit with a golden, gleaming warmth from the inside out, and it honestly made him a little dizzy.
"I was just asking what tribe you're from," he repeated.
"Tayrangi," you answered blithely. "You must be Omaticaya, I guess."
Lo'ak nodded, noting that you were from the same tribe as his future mate. He didn't want to bring that up, though, figuring if he was to have any chance with you he shouldn't bring up his imminent union.
Even though he wouldn't be able to pursue you because of said union... What the tribes didn't know couldn't hurt them, right?
"That's sick," Lo'ak said, smiling that same lopsided smile at you. "Never met any from the Tayrangi before."
"Never met an Omaticaya before either," you grinned back, leaning back on your hands.
"Am I living up to your expectations?" he teased, gathering all his courage to do so, ears drooping slightly in apprehension of your response.
"Who said I had any expectations?" you teased back, nudging the back of his thigh with your knee, sending hot flames of want up his spine.
Lo'ak rolled his eyes, but couldn't hide his delight at finding someone who could match him blow for verbal blow. "Oh, come on!" he scoffed. "You came all the way here, you must've thought about what we'd be like at some point!"
"Maybe I did," you agreed, and the glint in your eyes told him you were being purposefully elusive.
"Go on, then," he encouraged. "Am I everything you hoped?"
You pretended to think, finger pressing into your chin, eyes fixed on the clouds above. Then you smiled again. "Nope."
Lo'ak scoffed again, preparing to fire back some surely witty retort, before you inched forward again, leaning on his back, arm tightening around his middle again, pressing your lips to his ear decisively.
"You're better."

Dangerous Games - III ✮ Pairing: Aonung x Tayrangi/Omotikaya fem reader (possible Neteyam x reader as well) ✮ Tags: Reader POV, friends with benefits, p in v, aftercare, fluffy fluff fluff, Aonung x Reader, slight Neteyam x reader, reader has intimacy issues (childhood traumaᵕ̈), jealous Aonung, jealous Neteyam <3 ✮ Word Count: 5.4 k PART 1 HERE | PART 2 HERE Note: this (backstory and character dynamic) is heavily based of my wattpad fanfiction "Dangerous Game", it's just a little more mature than I would post on my WP so I'm doing a Aonung x reader part now instead of the Aonung x OC in the fanfiction ˙ᵕ˙
You didn't exactly make a mistake, you know that, yet it's not the best position to be in. On one hand, there's a massive, obnoxiously hot skxawng that is obsessed with you, happy to do anything you like, but on the other, the principal for not giving in to his endless and amused attempts at seduction has dismally failed.
Yet every few days different encounter isn't exactly making you regret your acceptance of his "friends with benefits" offer.
You might get hot from training, or Aonung might be frustrated with his unsuccessful attempts at ikran taming, and suddenly you're finding his head buried hungrily between your legs, or bent over as he's balls deep and roughly thrusting, all the while smoothing your hair and whispering his moaned praise.
You're always careful to not get attached, to never pay too much attention to the sincerity of his words and his surprising gentleness with you when you aren't in the middle of one of your "benefits", but you can never miss it.
It's starting to worry you, the way you're now starting to like the tender touches, the way he brushes your hair out of your face and tells you how well you're doing.
No one has ever been this careful with you, bothered to try at look after you like this. You know it's your fault that you push everyone away, but Aonung is the first to refuse to be pushed away.
He cares, for some inexplicable reason that makes no sense to you. He's infuriatingly stubborn, just like you are.
So weeks after the arrangement began, you begin to notice the other things, things that only mean one thing.
"He really likes you, you know."
"What?" you say, snapping out of your daze and looking up at Kiri, who smiles, her eyes darting to where yours had just been watching Aonung with Rotxo in the river.
You, the three metkayina and the Sullys had taken the day to go to the river so Rotxo, Tsireya and Aonung could swim.
Neteyam looks up from besides you as you frown at Kiri.
"What are you talking about?" you clarify.
"Aonung is obviously down fucking bad for you," Kiri grins. "I mean, he can't ever pull his eyes away from you, and when you aren't around him, he's always looking around to see where you are."
"No he's not," you scoff. "He-"
"Loves you," Neteyam finishes, his face blank and bored, as though he's pointing out the fucking obvious.
"No," you shake your head. "He just had a little thing for me at the start that-"
"Has grown into an unbearable love?" Kiri suggests. "The only question is if that love is unrequited or reciprocated."
"No!" you exclaim, covering your face. "We're just... friends. ish. Friendish."
"Right..." Neteyam says, raising his brows at you. "So you don't fuck."
"That's - that's- no- well, yeah but- I mean NO-"
"Oh Eywa," Kiri says, her incredulous laugh interrupting your awkward, desperate stammers. "You totally do!"
"That's not a big deal," you snap. "He's attractive and it doesn't mean anything, we're just... helping each other out, I guess."
Kiri mouths the words helping each other out, before turning and shooting her brother a disbelieving look. Neteyam's gaze is still and expressionless, flicking between your flushed face and Aonung in the river.
You follow his gaze to see Aonung staring at you, and you quickly turn away, grabbing Neteyam to do the same.
"It's just sex, nothing else," you say strictly.
"Yes," Kiri sighs. "But you're old enough to have more. You could find a mate. Besides, you deserve to be happy-"
"You don't have a mate," you say defensively.
"She has Rotxo," Neteyam points out. "Lo'ak and Tsireya have each other. You're the only one who-"
"You don't have a mate either," you protest.
"Well that's different," Neteyam sighs. "I'm the next Olo'eyktan, remember? I can't just pick anyone for my mate, and besides, who I want-"
"WHO?" you say excitedly. "Is there someone else?!"
Neteyam doesn't answer, and you tackle him to the floor excitedly, shaking his shoulders and demanding he tells you who. Neteyam reluctantly opens his mouth to speak, but then he looks over your shoulder and quickly closes it.
Aonung is standing there, so massive that you have to crane your neck to look up at him. You have to admit that it's hard to not stare too hard- his paler smooth teal skin is glittering with little gleaming droplets of river water, and when you're this low besides him, you're kneeling for a very different task.
You don't need him to speak to understand what he's thinking about, but it's a question of why. However you just slide off of Neteyam who was still pinned underneath you and stand up.
Neteyam's face hardens as he watches you face Aonung, brows raised and waiting for him to speak.
"Can I speak to you?" Aonung asks dully.
Kiri is gaping, Rotxo and Lo'ak are laughing to themselves whilst Tsireya is adorably oblivious, and Neteyam is watching silently and emotionlessly as you nod and follow Aonung through the trees. You can feel his cold golden gaze burning into your back until you slip between the trees, and even when you know he couldn't see you any longer, you can feel the ghost of his inexplicable gaze between your shoulder-blades.
"Yes?" you ask, once you pause a little while away.
"Is there something between you and Neteyam?" Aonung asks, frowning down at you.
You blink confusedly back. You weren't expecting him to speak- expecting more of the usual quick fuck so you could both release some tension then head back to the others.
"What do you mean, something between me and Tey?"
"You call him Tey, for one thing," Aonung points out. "And you're with him a lot-"
"Funny," you say, folding your arms. "Because he says the exact same thing about you."
"But we're actually fucking," Aonung says, without any pretence of a smile in his blunt, deep voice.
"What are you trying to say," you ask with narrowed eyes.
"Do you- uh -have any other friends," he asks, arms folded and blue eyes fixed challengingly in your golden-amber ones.
"What does that matter?"
"Because I want to know what I have to share," Aonung growls.
There's a strange, almost possessive glint in those ocean eyes now. Share. He thinks that he needs to share you.
"Why would it matter," you whisper. "We're not anything, this is just an arrangement. You're free to do whatever you like too."
You think for a moment that you broke Aonung. He is completely still, glaring so irately down at you with those blazing, large blue eyes as you try to guess what he's going to do next. But he still manages to surprise you when he leans forward and crashes his lips onto yours.
Everything has always been tentative, frightened to cross the barrier that would be too much for the other, but Aonung just doesn't seem to give a damn right now.
His mouth is warm and hungry, fangs lightly nipping your soft lips, hands roaming and grabbing and caressing with careless oblivion in a way that makes your skin ache afterwards in a welcome sting and bruise.
Then suddenly you're lifted up and you're on your knees right there on the forest floor. You can feel Aonung's breath hot and heavy as he nips at your neck, folded over your much smaller, arched body and sliding your tewngs away with quick hands.
"Is this-"
"Yes it's fine," you say, gasping a little as you feel yourself being stretched open, small stings of pain shooting through you as you drop your forehead to the ground and grunt. This is different to before, bent completely over with your face pillowed against the ground.
When he starts to move, it completely knocks your breath out, so you're left gasping for air you never manage to catch as he thrusts again. His grip on your waist is bordering on strangling, yet you find yourself unconsciously following him, pulling yourself back to meet each one of your thrusts with a choked moan.
His sudden roughness and hunger and desire is startling yet undoubtedly welcome. So this is what it's like when he's unrestrained, hot and animalistic, rutting fast and hard, pushing you into a further arch while his sharp teeth nip at the back of your neck and shoulders.
It's starting to get too much, the coil in your stomach growing too close too soon, and your moans are starting to border on lewd whines and whimpers as you sink your teeth into the flesh of your arms.
You're clutching the ground for dear damn life, arms attempting to pillow your face as your whole body rocks forward with each rough, almost ruthless thrust.
"I'm going to-" You gasp, your thighs trembling as you sob against the floor. "Oh, god, oh fuck, oh shit, I'm going to-"
You can feel him twitch inside of you, and you moan at a particularly hard thrust. Each rock of his hips knocks every breath, every thought out of you until your heart is pounding in rhythm with each increasingly rough, deep, animalistic thrust of his cock rutting between your legs.
"Wa- wait," you gasp, as another thought occurs to you. "Aonung, the others."
"What about them," he grunts, not slowing down for a second, hand absent-mindedly moving to your shoulder-blades to push you into an even deeper arch.
Between choked whines, you manage to say, "They're right over there. They're going to hear!"
"Guess you're just going to have to be more quiet," he says carelessly, no doubt knowing that there wasn't a fucking chance of that happening.
You just bury your face deeper into your arms, hoping that they'll be enough to hide the moans knocked out of you with each of his deep thrusts.
He has you pinned firmly beneath him, yet it feels snug and comforting despite the pain of his grip. It feels like he's fucking everything into you, even his scent, so each thrust is enveloping you in his warm, tropical scent.
Then finally with a loud cry that you tried so hard to stifle and kill, your entire body pulses as your orgasm blazes through you like fire as Aonung continues to fuck you through the quivers of your release.
You yelp as he speeds up now, brutal and animalistic as the last tenterhooks of his strained restraint snaps and he buries himself deep inside you.
You just give out, going slightly limp so he's holding you up as he comes, hair spilling over you as you just rest against the floor, breathing heavily in an attempt to steady yourself as you choke at the sensation of impossible fullness.
Then when he finally stops, he seems to return to himself, realising that you're just lax on the floor, only held up by his rough grip on your slightly bruised hips, flushed and slightly tear-streaked face hidden shamefully in your arms and curtained away by your long dark hair.
"Shit, are you okay?" Aonung asks, pulling out and lightly tilts your chin so he can see your face.
You just groan weakly and attempt to swat his hand away, a mortified little smile on your face as he sighs in relief and flops to the ground beside you.
"Feeling better?" you croak, wrinkling your nose at him.
Aonung exhales shakily with a small laugh. He turns to look at you, and there's a note of something in his eyes that you just don't understand- like he's trying to see if he would be able to get away with something.
Then he tentatively reaches out and tucks your hair away. When you don't protest or pull away, he lightly pulls you closer, so your head is resting between his shoulder and his neck, your arm draped tiredly across his chest and your body nestled cozily against his larger one.
You're tense. You've never done this, never cuddled, never allowed someone to be this fucking close. But then again, you've never fucked the same guy twice, and you've been in this arrangement with Aonung for weeks.
But this time was different, aggressive and desperate and hot and messy and overwhelming, and you're completely fucked out.
"Are you alright?" you ask Aonung quietly.
That's weird too, that you're asking Aonung about how he is. That you care how he is.
"What do you mean?" he asks gently, nuzzling closer into your neck. You try to ignore how comfortable it is having his lips resting warmly against your collarbone.
"Well," you say, with a bitter, shaky laugh, "it looked like you were a little... pent up."
Aonung groans and buries his face deeper into your hair.
"Aonung," you say gently, turning so you can see him.
You are inches apart, nearly nose to nose as you rake your eyes over his face. He looks torn between mortified and as though he's trying to hide from you. You wonder if it's this frustrating for him when you hide like this.
"I just forgot about the arrangement," Aonung mumbles, not meeting your eyes. "I just- I..." Surprising yourself, you tentatively reach up to brush your fingertips against the soft teal skin of his flushed face. His eyes instantly flick to yours, and his lips part just enough for you to lightly touch them too. "I just... I didn't like seeing you with Neteyam."
"Oh," you says softly. You have no idea what to say to that- especially when its something that you always kind of knew, but never expected to be told. Especially when it never processes in your mind that you could be loved. "Neteyam's just a friend," you laugh lightly.
There's a slight crackle behind you like twigs snapping, but when you look up, there's nothing and no one there. You frown, but Aonung lightly guides your face back to his before you can think more about it.
You sit like that in silence for a little bit, but it surprises you how it's not awkward at all. It's comfortable and warm and quiet, pillowed against his muscular body with his head tucked gently beside yours, hands absentmindedly playing with your hair.
Usually you would never allow this, but you're frankly fucked out, and you doubt you'd be able to push him away even if you wanted to. So you just close your eyes and rest for a moment, until he speaks.
"So when do I get an ikran?" Aonung asks, shifting slightly so you're facing each other now, yet you're still close enough for him to hold you.
"Soon," you shrug. "You can ask Neteyam to-"
"What if I don't want Neteyam to take me," Aonung asks.
"Lo'ak or Kiri might be free," you shrug. "If you manage to pull them away from Tsireya or Rotxo."
"What if I don't want the Sullys?" he asks, eyes glittering with amusement and slight incredulous annoyance as though you were being stupid.
"Then who-" you start to say, a confused look on your face before Aonung cuts you off, rolling his eyes with a fond little grin, his hand gently snaking to tilt your face as he kisses you.
You have half a mind to snap at him, to remind him that kissing was a little too personal, too intimate for the agreement when you weren't actually fucking, to shout at him for cutting you off, before you realise you don't actually mind the intimacy of the kiss when you're nestled in his arms, his hands gently caressing your cheeks and holding you close, his heart beating warmly and comfortably against you.
In fact, the thought of him pulling away seems worse than the actual closeness, tenderness and suggestiveness of the kiss, then suddenly he is, and you're frowning at the sudden, tiny, yet extremely unwelcome distance between his lips and yours.
"Can I kiss you," he asks, just a little late.
"Yes fine," you grumble impatiently, yet by his little, delighted smile, you know he took it for what it secretly meant, yeah you'd better kiss me skxawng.
"So you'll allow this?" he grins, inching closer. "It doesn't break the agreement?"
You have a strong temptation to smack that smug, delighted expression off his face, but you are just fucking exhausted, and his kisses are like coffee. But before he can lean back in and satiate you, there's stupidly familiar voices though the trees and you're panickingly staggering up to not get caught.
"Bro," Lo'ak says, looking you up and down before raising his weird hairy human eyebrows at Aonung. "Are you trying to mark her now?"
You flush deeply, only now noticing the little purple bruises his grip had roughly left, as well as the little nips and hickeys that now adorned your body. You feel even more aware of Aonung's marks when you look back up and meet Neteyam's gaze, his rich-golden eyes blazing bright as they trail over the bruises, hickeys and love bites before turning coldy on Aonung.
Aonung returns Neteyam's golden gaze with his own icy blue one, and an unspoken challenge seems to be passed between the two boys. You expected Neteyam to react like the others, amused like Lo'ak or scandalised like Tsireya, but he remains cold and expressionless, not looking at you or returning your nervous smile. Instead of laughing off or denying Lo'ak's question, Aonung just smirks slightly and looks away, and Neteyam swallows hotly.
The walk back to the village is a strange one. There's some weird confusing tension between Neteyam and Aonung that you probably couldn't decipher in the best of times, let alone when you're so completely fucked dumb that you're putting all your best efforts into walking normally enough so the others don't know that you're whole body is turned to jelly.
Tsireya is laughing with Lo'ak at the front of the group, but Kiri and Rotxo seemed to have noticed your clumsy tiredness because Kiri links her arm with yours and gently leads you along and Rotxo distracts you with quiet, sweet conversation.
But you're hardly listening, because you can feel two gazes blazing straight into you from behind. Although no words are spoken between them, the weirdness between Aonung and Neteyam seems to radiate straight into you.
Whatever, you'll figure it all out when you're back to normal, when you aren't so weak that you're susceptible to Aonung's tenderness and intimacy, when you aren't so fucked so dumb and stupid and reckless that you aren't wanting to kiss him again.
But there's no mistaking the intensity of the gazes on your back as you reenter the village. One blazing gold, the other icy blue.
In the next few days after that trip to the river, you're terrified. Terrified of what happened between you and Aonung.
Not of the sex, no that was doubtlessly the best you've ever had, but of what happened after. Of the cuddling and the kiss and the tenderness with which he cared for you and the fact that you let him be so tender and intimate.
So okay, maybe seeing your whole clan get murdered and destroyed by sky people at a young age could be traumatising, maybe even give you a few silly little intimacy issues, but your total aversion for intimate affection had always been uncomplicated.
No one could betray or hurt you if you never let anyone get close enough for you to care about them. No one could ever get hurt by you if they never cared for you in the first place. But Aonung has. Yes he's pussy-whipped, but he's liked you from the start and you knew that. No matter how hard you tried to discourage him or push him away, he's just as stubborn in liking you as you are in not liking him.
And now you don't know what you like. You think you know what it means that you trusted him to take care of you, that you let him get close in a way that wasn't just meaningless activity and was genuine care and intimacy. So you have to stay away from him.
Which is why for the past few days, you've only been in your kelku. You refuse to go out, knowing full well that no matter where you go, to the forest or around the village, Aonung will track you down and ask why you've been avoiding him, be all concerned and sweet and ARGH.
You groan and flop back down onto your woven bed. You're running out of things to do- stuck in your kelku. You've woven an obscene, unnecessary amount of jewellery, carved two new knives, beaded several new tops that you can only wear if you one day summon the courage to go outside and face the prospect to running into Aonung.
You're snarling with annoyance of being self-isolated in your kelku, hissing to yourself under your breath as you string together the beads of a new top when someone ducks into your kelku. Your body stiffens, but you quickly relax when you realise who it is.
"Hey Tey," you grin, as he smiles slightly back at you. "What are you doing here?"
"I haven't seen you in days," Neteyam says, frowning slightly at you. "I was getting worried- you seemed... off, that day by the river."
"I was tired," you say, brows furrowing at your friend. Usually Neteyam would be sitting with you talking about a guy, torn between slight protectiveness over you and slight amusement at your scornful attitude to intimacy. But now he's frowning, worried about you. "Aonung tired me out."
You expect him to grin, to joke, to maybe even make fun of you, but Neteyam isn't Lo'ak. Your close friendship with each of the Sullys is different, but you always considered yourself closest to the eldest, training with Neteyam, bonding over the struggles you both went to to prove yourselves.
Since you sought refuge with the Omotikaya at a young age, you and Neteyam had been the closest of friends. As you got older, he was busier with his various duties as not only a warrior, but the future Olo'eyktan of the clan. The two of you never really discussed it, but in the last few years, when you both started having 'experiences' with others, you grew apart slightly.
It's not like your relationship had ever been romantic, but there were certain elements of intimacy and jealousy you had always just assumed to be the closeness of your friendship. But now Aonung pointed it out, was even jealous of Neteyam himself, you have to wonder if there ever was more between you and the prince of the Omotikaya.
Then the Sully's had left for a bit to the reef, and when Neteyam came back, you had both grown. Even without any spoken elements of romance between the two of you, the obvious fact that both of you had had several if not many sexual and romantic experiences with others just seemed strange for a friendship forged in childhood.
You lower your beading and look up at him to find those golden eyes are fixed straight in your own, bright in the afternoon light filtering into your kelku from the gap in the weaving he left slightly ajar, his lips slightly parted as he tries to decide what to say. Fuck. No. Okay so maybe Aonung is getting in your head. Maybe Aonung is opening your eyes, because now Neteyam just looks... different.
Since the reef, Neteyam has gotten more muscular, more than the typical Omotikaya yet without the broad physique of Aonung. It's probably all the swimming or the diet of tropical fruits and fish or something, you suppose, but why did you never notice how he's just so... attractive, with his blazing golden eyes and smooth handsome features.
Sure, all you'd heard from other girls for years was how Neteyam was so handsome and hot and strong and a good lover, but that had all just been silliness because Neteyam was your friend nothing more, to either of you.
"Can I help you with something?" you ask, swallowing heavily, horribly aware that you had just spaced out and stared blankly at him for way too long.
"Are you okay?" he asks, frowning and moving closer to you, setting down a pile of stuff so he can get a better look at you. "You're acting weird."
"Am I?" you ask nervously, swallowing hard and blinking way too much.
"Yes," Neteyam says slowly, crouching beside you and frowning deeper. "You've been in your kelku for days, you haven't seen anyone, talked to anyone, and everyone was starting to get worried. I was getting worried about you Rey."
His nickname for you, shortened from Reypaytun and meaning blood red, was one of the first things you ever shared with him as your first friend among the Omotikaya. It was a fond name he chose given the blood red war paint favoured by the Tayrangi that you never got the chance to wear, and ever since he called you Rey, the little warrior, the last Tayrangi.
He seems to notice the way you pause at the nickname Rey as a flood of memories from your childhood washes over you, and he places a comforting hand on your leg, saying, "It's me. You can tell me if something's going on. Is it Aonung?"
The sound of Aonung's name snaps you back. The one you've been having all these strange feelings for, the one that mentioned Neteyam having feelings for you. You swallow hotly again, and Neteyam frowns. Again.
"Yes," you say quietly. Instantly, he coldens, scowling and hissing protectively.
"Did he hurt you? You looked a little bruised but I didn't say anything because I thought maybe you-"
"No there's nothing wrong like that," you say quickly. "Aonung didn't hurt me, not at all. He's been... well I've been... um..."
Neteyam sighs, his ears drooping slightly as understanding dawns on his face, his hand sliding off your leg and dropping towards the ground. The absense of his touch feels like a sign, like your friend is slipping away just as his hand had. That the two of you are growing even further apart than ever.
"I know Rey," he says gently. "I mean, it was pretty fucking obvious from the start that he liked you. I tried to tell him that it wouldn't end well, that you never let anyone get close, but you proved me wrong like usual."
"What do you mean?" you ask quietly, your tail sweeping behind you. You miss your friend.
"For years I thought we were the only ones you'd let love you," he says, now looking slightly wistful. "I never thought it would be Aonung of all people that managed to get your heart, not when literally every guy ever is head over heels for you."
"You aren't," you point out, though even to yourself, your voice sounds unsure. "Right?"
Neteyam doesn't reply, just smiling wistfully and sighing, his strong jaw clenching. You try to think of something to say, when the rest of his words clink into place in your brain, and you sit up quickly.
"What do you mean get my heart?" you ask sharply. "He hasn't- not-"
"Rey please," Neteyam says, not looking at you. "You literally let him cuddle you, take care of you, play with your hair. It goes beyond banter and pointless sex and you know it. You know it means more to him, and you know that it means more to you too."
You make to shake your head, but then you realise your body isn't moving, as though it refuses to say that Aonung means nothing. Fuck.
"Fuck."
Neteyam laughs humourlessly as you sit up, face twisted in distress as the stupid damn truth of your friend's words sink in and you frown at him. Neteyam isn't looking at you, hiding his face from you, and your harboured suspicion that he's secretly laughing at you is immediately stomped out when you notice.
His ears are drooped all the way down, and his hands are lightly fiddling with his necklace. It's a small habit he only fell into when he was agitated or upset- you often found him fiddling with the beading of the traditional warrior necklace when he found expectations too much, when he got in trouble with his father, when he felt he wasn't enough.
"What's wrong Tey," you ask, lightly reaching out to touch your friend's head in a friendly pat. But it feels different now that you're both all grown up and grown apart- he feels too big, not like when you were inseparable children.
Neteyam looks up, his face suddenly so large in your hand- no longer the adorably delighted childish face it once had been, now all chiselled and handsome and suddenly twisted with almost concealed, melancholy bitterness as he sighs and pulls away from you. It means something, that he pulled away.
"It's just weird," Neteyam says, with a poor attempt at a smile. "I always felt proud knowing that you let me close to you. That I could help you and protect you, that we would be so close forever. Then shit happened and I had to leave and we just grew apart slightly I guess. I just never thought that when we came back, Aonung would be the one to get you."
He swallows and looks away, obviously having said more than he meant to. You are about to reach out to your friend before remembering him pull away, his hand slipping away, his gaze somehow refusing to reach your own. But you're closer to understanding now more than ever, and being the ridiculously stubborn person you are, you can't just let it go now.
"What are you trying to say Tey?" you ask, frowning at him. "Aonung said... he said..."
"What?" Neteyam asks, now completely abandoning the pretence that he isn't annoyed and letting the confusing, uncalled for bitterness seep into his words. "What did your Aonung say about me?"
"That you..." you start to say, throat feeling dry under his suddenly blazing golden gaze. "He thought there was something going on between us."
With that, the last remaining light in Neteyam's face just snuffs itself out, and you feel your heart sink desperately. His tail stops flicking agitatedly behind him, thudding listless and dead on the floor behind him, his gaze dropping away somewhat as the fire in those blazing eyes dies, as though you put it out.
"I mean," you hastily say, trying to get him back to normal. It makes your heart ache in a terrible, painful sort of way to see Neteyam look so doleful and betrayed, makes your whole body shiver at the thought that you made the prince of the clan look so broken. "He thought you maybe liked me. But I told him- you only see me as a friend and I-"
"It's fine Rey," he says quietly, not meeting your gaze. "I get it."
"No!" you practically cry. "I don't even know what I'm trying to say- please stop! You don't need to get anything, Aonung was just being stupid and I don't even know what's going on."
"He wasn't stupid," Neteyam says quietly.
"What?"
"He wasn't stupid," Neteyam snaps, standing to leave. "He was right."
"About what?" you breathe, heart hammering uncomfortably in your chest. You know exactly what Neteyam is going to say next- but it just can't be true.
"That I liked you. Like you," he says angrily, taking a deep breath before rushing his next words. "But I know that you see me as a friend, and that you have your whole fucked up thing with Aonung going on."
You exhale shakily, squeezing your eyes shut for a moment and trying to think of what to say. When you open them again, Neteyam's blazing eyes are filled with fiery possessiveness again. It's everything you've always marked as friendship that is so clear in his gaze now, and you swallow heavily when he steps closer.
"But I know you Rey," he whispers, suddenly towering over you as he steps closer. "And I could be better than Aonung."
At that, you freeze. This is Neteyam, your friend Neteyam, the most desired man in the clan, the prince of the Omotikaya standing over you, blinking down at you with his large golden eyes and telling you he's better than the other boy you fuck, who's also his friend. What. The. Fuck.
"What are you saying?" you whisper, hating how squeaky your voice sounds.
"Let me prove myself," Neteyam shrugs, now just a foot away.
You mouth wordlessly. On one hand, all you've heard for years is Neteyam's incredible talent with women, his amazing looks and bravery and size working wonders for every girl in the clan, but then again, Aonung was also completely and utterly satisfying and hot and muscular in himself. You aren't tied down though. Just because you had been having a good time with Aonung didn't mean you couldn't with anyone else.
But your friendship might not last with Neteyam if you took this step. Yet then again, it's already changed, even more so now he's told you he likes you, absolutely now he's offering what he's offering.
It seems a little as though he's stepping on Aonung's toes- along the same lines of impressing you, proving himself yadayadayada, but as you meet Neteyam's gaze, you can't seem to find a problem with anything.
He's staring down at you, inches away from your lips yet still a foot taller, blazing golden eyes staring straight into your own.
fuck.

· · ─────── · 𖥸 · ─────── · ·
The first time the Sullys visited the Tayrangi clan, you were suspicious. You weren’t a big fan of Toruk Makto, there were rumors about him, rumors that you didn’t like him and that you were looking down on the Omatikaya family. Unlike your mother, the Olo'eykte Ikeyni, one of the few women to be clan leaders and Tsahik at the same time, you did not believe that you should be on the side of a man from another world. It also bothered you that the Sullys left their eldest son to be trained by your father, who, ironically, loved to teach young people the art of hunting.
You rolled your eyes as the girls of your clan looked at the son of Toruk Makto as if he were a living legend, a god among Na'vi, to you he was simply a na'vi with demon blood. You still remembered how your clan had offered shelter to the fleeing or homeless na'vi because of the war brought above all by the father of that Omatikayan. You growled slightly as the boy walked over to you, then turned around and walked away from him, taking a seat next to your parents, checking out the Sullys.
"My daughter. The future Olo'eykte of the Tayrangi Clan and healer of the village. She will be the guide of your son Neteyam, showing him the arts of this clan and our way." Your mother’s words stabbed you in the back, and you looked at her like it might change her mind, which it didn’t. You looked at your father, Tsentey, who, though he looked back, made you think he agreed with your mother.
You took a deep breath and walked away, trying to stay calm. You hated the idea of being the leader of that half-demon, but you couldn’t help but disobeying would put you in a position where the clan would look down on you and in Eywa’s eyes you would be undeserving to be Olo'eykte.
When evening came, your parents returned to your house and looked at you slightly disappointed.
"Ma 'ite… I know it's not something that brings joy to your heart, but it is your duty as next Olo'eykte" said your father, placing a hand on your shoulder, smiling gently, while your mother looked hard at you.
"There is no time for whims. This is the will of Eywa. An Olo'eykte is already weaker than an Olo'eyktan man. If you do not help the future Olo'eyktan of Omatikaya, someone else will and you will be just a Na'vi with a lower title" Your mother said, approaching you. " Ma 'ite. You are strong. You can do it and when the day comes, you will lead this clan, show them who you are" continued and then lifted your face from your chin. "You're a warrior. Remember who you are y/n te Skxumew Ikeyni'ite. You'll be the second Olo'eykte of all Pandora and everyone will know your name. More than Toruk Makto. But you have to make sacrifices, put pride aside. You have a goal Ma Oare" Your mother put her forehead on yours and you both closed your eyes, then nodded.
"I will." You said with conviction to see your mother smile, she was right. This was just one of the trials to reach your place in the clan.
The night passed quickly and the next day you were ready to face that demon blood, you just had to train him and then after a few months send him back to his house, to the Omatikaya. Your mother encouraged you when she saw you awake as you walked past the tree house, then headed to where Neteyam was staying, finding him already outside.
"Follow me." You hissed, then walked through the village to get out and into the woods. " What weapon can you use?" You continued without turning around to see where Neteyam was.
"Knives and Bows." He replied by keeping the pace "However I am-"
You stopped him, you stopped yourself, and then you turned around and looked him in the eye.
"I know who you are. Neteyam te Suli Tsyeyk'itan" You said to then observe it. " Bows and knives? Your arms are weak" You said approaching him, touching his arm. " Your chest tight, but you have a good posture." The boy watched you turn around and talk about him. "Do you have an Ikran?" You look him in the eye when you talk to him.
"Yes, I have one." His voice was still, as if the words you used didn’t hurt him at all.
"Can you swim?"
"Pretty good" Neteyam looked at you enchanted, smiling slightly
"Tsk. You’re like a parultsyìp. I have to teach you everything." You said sighing and then continued walking until you got to the cliff that provided a wonderful view of the sea.
"The Tayrangi clan is famous for being skilled riders of Ikran, the best. We interpret the wind, understand the sea and respect the great predators and the Ikran. You have to learn to fight with more weapons, to swim, to understand the wind and the animals that surround us" You said and then sit on the cliff, breathing in the fresh air.
"I’m here for this… what’s your name?" Neteyam’s voice was sweet as he sat next to you.
"You’re not here to make friends or get to know me. Call me Karyu." Your detached and disinterested voice made Neteyam smile, who already found you interesting.
"Karyu? So you won’t tell me your name?" he said, slightly laughing.
"Not relevant for training. Now silence. Listen to the wind"
That day you taught Neteyam the basics of understanding the wind, explaining in detail how to use this to fly better, to understand when it will start to rain or other natural events. The boy, different from what you thought, listened to you interested, asking questions and coming to understand what you were explaining. You couldn’t deny it.
"For today we are finished, tomorrow we will start with the proper guidance of the Ikran, the Omatikaya use strange methods to approach the banshees" You said, Going from the cliff and stretching you.
"Did I do well?" he asked curiously, as he stood up.
"Discreetly, you are not completely Skxawng." You shrugged, indifferent. " These are things that our children learn after a week. Half a day is something"
"Something? Does that mean I can now know your name?"
"No. Why do you care so much?" your voice was sore.
"Just curiosity" Neteyam smiled and approached you
"Hmm… if you can get back to the village before the eclipse, I’ll tell you my name. Good luck" You said, and then you went into the forest, going home alone, about an hour before the eclipse, it was impossible for her to return in time, not knowing the way back. You prayed that a Palulukan would tear him to pieces, not to have him back but you could not wish this on a son of Eywa, after all even a Palulukan deserved a better meal.
Some of your companions gathered to wait for Neteyam after hearing about that little challenge, you smiled satisfied when the eclipse came and Neteyam was not back yet. " What if he’s dead?" " Maybe he found a Palulukan." "Or he got lost" Voices like this filled the air, you shrugged and turned to leave. At that moment you heard the girls cheering and shouting the name of Neteyam happy, seeing him unharmed.
You turned and looked him in the eye, after all he still lost the challenge, so the victory belonged to you. Neteyam came up with a flower.
"There’s already been an eclipse. You lost, so I don't-" You stopped when Neteyam put the flower behind your ear, smiling at seeing you with it in your hair.
"I would have won, but I saw this Sun Lily and it reminded me of your eyes, so I looked for the most beautiful, wasting time" He said smiling, shrugging. " I’ll discover your name one day, ma Karyu"
You observed him without saying anything, you did not expect such a thing. He had preferred to lose the challenge to pick a flower to give you and did not seem upset by this, indeed, he smiled carelessly. You did not understand at that moment why your heart accelerated the beat, or why you did not immediately remove the flower, or why now you looked at it without disgust or repugnance. You recovered from your thoughts when you heard some girls being jealous of you for that little gesture made by Prince Omatikaya. You clenched your jaw and looked at him.
"You still lost." you said with the little coolness you had left.
"I did, but does it matter?" He replied promptly, and then continued, "It was worth it, the flower suits you very well."
You bit the inside of your cheek and then you turned around and left "See you tomorrow." You said dryly before saying goodbye and going home.
"She’s beautiful, isn’t she?" Neteyam said to some of the clan’s boys.
"Bro, shs's the type of na'vi who eats you alive." one of the guys laughed.
"I know, and I like it." Neteyam concluded
You reported to your mother and she immediately noticed the flower in your hair.
"It’s very nice, where did you get it?" she asked, placing the flower in your hair.
"Just a stupid gift." You confessed before you took it off and left it in your mother’s hand, going to a more secluded place on one of the tree branches.
"skxawng. just a vrrtep skxawng." You said to yourself while leaning your body against the tree. " Ma Eywa, please, Great mother, make sure he learns quickly and walks away." You asked as you watched the starry sky. " Give me a sign to bear him, because he’s a vrrtep," you said before you heard a woodsprite landing on the same ear where Neteyam’s flower used to be and then seeing it not far under the tree where you were sitting. You felt mocked, Eywa today was having fun putting everything against you, otherwise you won’t explain these coincidences.
The coup de grâce came when the branch broke, dropping you into Neteyam’s arms. If you could confirm that, Eywa was trying to make you do all these things. You sighed annoyed, crossing your arms when Neteyam looked at you to see if you were okay.
"Are you hurt? Is everything okay?" he asked concerned, checking you and clutching you accidentally.
"You can let me go. I’m fine." You answered a little sour.
"A thank you is welcome, Princess Tayrangi," Neteyam laughed, and then left you standing on the ground, watching you.
"Irayo…" you whispered quietly, turning your head to the side
"I don’t understand, can you repeat?" he said smiling
"what a skxawng…" you whispered softly. " I said Irayo." This time you said fast
"I still don’t understand, I really think you’ll have to repeat it," Neteyam laughed a little.
"Are you- Irayo." You said it out loud so he’d get it in his head, and then he’d snort right after.
"You are even more beautiful when you get angry, you know?" he said spontaneously, leaning against the tree, admiring your beauty.
You swirled your eyes, restraining yourself from splitting his nasal septum or something, but for the umpteenth time Eywa sent a signal, a woodsprite on Neteyam’s shoulder. You looked up and laughed frustrated.
"Listen carefully, I don’t know why my path is intertwined with yours. I don’t want to put up with you any more than I have to. This means that if you see me falling from a tree, let me fall, if you find flowers that remind you of me, leave them where they are, if you see me for the village avoid me" You said pointing your finger at Neteyam’s chest. "The only thing keeping me from completely avoiding you is my title and my parents. You’d be meal for Palulukan if it were up to me."
Neteyam opened his mouth to speak but you stopped him. "Don’t answer, it’s already decided. Learn quickly, I want you out of this village and away from me or my people. I don’t know why my parents sympathize with your family, but I don’t agree with them. Now, if you understand that you have to stay as far away from me as possible, nod."
The boy nodded, smiling amused, watching you get nervous.
"Good. See you tomorrow Neteyam." You said saying goodbye a second time to go home.
At that moment, all you wanted was for Neteyam to disappear, him and his manners, and take away that beautiful smile and those golden eyes. Fuck, no. You don’t have to think about it. You hate him, you hate his family, you must hate him… Do you hate him?

Best of both worlds (4)
Neteyam x Tayrangi!Metkayina!reader
Summary: The Sullys still have much to learn and notice, that not every new experience is a pleasend one. About teaching, new people and good food.
Words: 5124
Warnings: I think none
Note: finally. I have an idea what the issue was but jesus it took me a minute to figure this out. I feel like I write way to much about food but dinner time seems like the most social time of the day within the clan.
Masterlist
Previous part
You were walking on the beach, rather bored. Your mom insisted that you should not do much for the next two days. Every activity that went beyond walking was not approved. The ointment made you very tired— so much so that you slept until long after breakfast was done. Your family had already left. Your dad and your brother were training while your mother gathered supplies for another ointment she wanted to make for your wound. Tsireya was most likely spending time with the Sullys or helping your mother. You took the wrapped breakfast your mother left for you and went towards the sandy beach, greeting fellow Metkayina along the way. The thought of visiting your ikran came across your mind, but was quickly dismissed when you considered the distance between the village and the clearing, knowing your mother wouldn't approve of it.
You sat down in the shadow of a small tree, listening to the waves as you ate your breakfast. You picked up footsteps coming closer and looked up. Rotxo was heading your way, waving slightly. You waved back at him. "Hey, my father told me what happened. How are you doing?" He settled down next to you. "Hi, I'm alright, but my mom insists that I take it slow. So I don't have much to do now. Thanks for asking. What about you? How are you doing?" Rotxo was was always a little closer to your brother, but you got along well too. "I'm alright, thanks. So how was it? Riding a tsurak?" He looked at you with great interest. "Different. They are so much faster than the ilus! And above the water they are like...a lot like ikrans, actually. In the air, it's much easier than in the water. In the water, you get pushed off if your grip isn't tight enough or if you don't lean into the tsurak close enough. But it's the transition between water and air that I have trouble with." Rotxo looked at you amazed. "Wow. Yea, my brother mentioned that swimming with them is pretty tough because of their speed. But I don't think you have to worry about it. You know, my dad said you did very well, all things considered. My brother said his biggest struggle was learning to fly with them. But I guess that comes from your experience with your ikran. Anyway, you can be proud. I mean, usually nobody our age learns to ride a tsurak. It will be another year before any of us get to join you." You smiled at him, thankful for his encouragement.
Tsireya was with the Sullys, looking for a calm space to do some more breathing exercises, as she spotted you and Rotxo talking in the distance. She decided that you would probably like some company and remembered that Tuk still wanted to give you something. So she leads the group in your direction. "Look guys, there is Y/n!" Tuk pointed out to the group. They had all already spotted you when Tsireya suddenly changed the course. Neteyam's brows furrowed seeing you and the boy next to you smiling at each other during your conversation. The image didn't sit right with him.
"Y/n!" Tuk shouted, running in your direction. This interrupted your conversation as both of you looked up towards Tuk and the approaching group. You used your not-injured arm to wave at them. "Y/n, how are you? Do you feel better? I have something for you that will make you feel better!" Tuk finally came to a halt next to you, plopping down on the sand, panting slightly. "Hello Tuk, I am alright. Yes, I do feel much better, thank you." The rest of the group arrived at your spot, sitting down as well. Tuk opened the small bag that she kept at her hip, taking something out, before handing it to you. "I made this for you! I wanted to make you a gift since you gave me your pretty bracelet. It has some shells from here, but I also put some wooden pearls in it from our home." Looking at it, you saw a handcrafted trinket with various shells worked into it along with a few wooden beads. "Thank you Tuk, that is very sweet of you. It is very pretty." Tuk smiled brightly as she watched you fasten the accessory on your loincloth. "Are you angry with your tsurak? Dad said it is difficult, but you didn't want to give up, no matter how often you got thrown off." You chuckled at her never-ending curiosity. "No Tuk, I'm not angry. I just have to practice more. Hopefully, I won't fall off that often then." Tsireya looked at you skeptically. "You mean after our mother clears you for training again in a few weeks when you have fully recovered?" Rolling your eyes at your sister, you say in an annoyed tone, "Yes Tsireya, don't worry". Your conversation kept going and at some point, Rotxo said his goodbyes, as he wanted to meet up with his brother. "So what are you going to do now?" Neteyam sat next to you, drawing in the sand and glancing at you occasionally. "Nothing much for the next two days. Everything more than walking is apparently too much and for the rest of the week, I guess I will go with my mom and help her with her work here and there. What about you guys?" Neteyam smiled as he looked at the beach. "Our mom said she would take me out hunting tomorrow evening. With the ikrans, you know. To practice my bow hunting. And uhm, your sister wants us to learn the sign language better. So yeah, I think that's about it." Tuk intervened: "No, Neteyam. The celebrations, you forgot about the celebrations!" At that Neteyam piped up: "Oh yes! What's happening anyway? Our dad just said that something is happening this evening." You were surprised that your sister didn't tell them yet. "A few of our warriors will do their last trials today. Tonight we will celebrate them becoming men."
By now Tsireya, Lo'ak, and Kiri walked slightly away from the three of you. Kiri checked if you and their siblings were out of earshot before nodding at her brother. "Hey Tsireya, why does your sister learn to tame a tsurak?" Lo'ak tried to approach the topic carefully. "Well, it is needed to become a warrior in our clan." Tsireya didn't understand the question or rather why Lo'ak asked that. Kiri piped in "Yes but isn't taming an ikran just as good?" Tsireya had an idea in what direction this was leading. "Our father said, that since she is here it would be more appropriate to learn to ride one of them as they are more helpful in the ocean than the ikrans." Lo'ak didn't want to wait any longer. "Ok, honestly we were wondering if she is supposed to learn to ride a tsurak so she could become Olo'eyktan. Our mom said it's rare that the clan leaders are siblings but not unheard of. So is she?" A look of panic crossed Tsireya's face, quickly looking at you she saw that you were still talking to Tuk and Neteyam. Relieved but also defeated Tsireya sighs. "Please don't talk so loud that's a very sensitive topic. The truth is that I don't know. Our father did not name the next Olo'eyktan yet. Ao'nung and Y/n fight a lot and their rivalry is often the reason behind that. I don't know why our father is waiting but I'm certain he has his reasons for it. The most experienced warriors in our clan are also divided on the topic, I think. Nobody would say anything, especially not to our father but I have heard some rumors. Some still think it is not appropriate to name her Olo'eyktan as she is a woman. Her not being fully Metkayina is also a problem for some people. They fear, that she might not want to fully commit to this clan if another is part of her heart. Others think her early travels are what make her the better warrior. And they say she is more skillful than Ao'nung. You see she rode an ilu before she turned three. Usually, we start training with them shortly after our fourth birthday. Our father loves telling the story. They took her and Ao'nung to the beach for some swimming lessons when the ilus got to them and Y/n, who was a little behind the other children, suddently passed them on an ilu. They don't know how she managed it but so far it is one of my father's favorite stories to tell." While their question didn't get answered in the way they were expecting, it certainly gave them more insight into what was going on in the clan. They slowly got back to the others to finally start their breathing exercises.
Neteyam playfully hit you with his tail while everybody had their eyes closed. You snapped your eyes open, looking at him. He grinned at you with one eye open, repeating the action. You scrunched your nose to get him to stop but your smile betrayed you. He hit you again. After looking around to make sure that the others weren't noticing it, you squinted your eyes and hit him back. You aimed higher, hitting him on the back of his head. His braids jiggled as his head fell forward slightly. He looked at you in shock with a smile on his lips. This had you giggling and you felt a slight blush covering your cheeks. At the noise, the others opened their eyes, looking at you confused. This made your blush more intense, this time in embarrassment. Neteyam was now chuckling. The others, excluding Tuk, understood now that you and Neteyam were just messing with each other. "Right...enough breathing exercises for now. How about we do some more sign language?" Tsireya suggested.
Tsireya said a word and made the associated movement at the same time. The Sullys copied her. It was all going well and you decided that they should try it alone. Now you only said the word and they did the movement. You and Tsireya corrected their movements when they did something wrong. "Forward," you said. As the Sullys made the sign, you saw that Neteyam had a small mistake and went to correct him. "You have to put your fingers together. Like this, it means 'way'" Not sure what you meant, Neteyam started curling his fingers into a fist. "No, I mean like so." You uncurl his fingers and press his thumb against his index finger. Now Neteyam kept messing up and you kept correcting him. After the fifth time, you looked at Neteyam with concern. His teasing grin gave him away immediately. You hit his arm. "Skxawng!" At that, Neteyam chuckled before forcing himself to put on a serious face. Kiri rolled her eyes at her brother's antics. When you noticed that Tuk was getting restless, you decided to end the lesson for the day, leaving all of you some time to get ready for the festivities in the evening.
You and Tsireya helped each other braid your hair. She had a headpiece with pearls tied into her hair. They looked like waterdrops shining brightly. You had multiple braids that were decorated with seashells. Both of you were wearing chest pieces covered in pearls. Arriving at the celebrations, you were quickly called over to a small group of younger warriors as Tsireya sat down with a few friends of hers.
The Sullys arrived at the community area shortly after. Kiri spotted Tsireya, who beckoned them over to come sit with her group. "Hey guys, these are Lorell and Nupxi. And these are Neteyam, Lo'ak, Kiri, and Tuk." Tsireya introduced everybody. They smiled and started a conversation, but Neteyam kept looking for you. "She is with the warriors over there." Tsireya addressed Neteyam, pointing discreetly to their left. He blushed at being caught but followed her finger regardless. The other girls were giggling at Neteyam's flustered state. He saw you talking to some men who were two or three years older than you. One of them was telling a story while the rest of you listened intently. He stood out as he had a large tattoo on his right arm, and a fresh-looking one at that. He must have been among the warriors who succeeded in their last trials today. The story seemed to reach its peak as you all laughed before getting back to smaller conversations. You looked over to your sister only to see Neteyam looking at you. You smiled at him and nodded your head in greeting. Neteyam averted his eyes and a small blush covered his cheeks.
"Hm, it seems like the forest boy has a little crush," Lorell said teasingly. Before Neteyam could deny it, Nupxi spoke up. "That wouldn't be too wise now, would it?" Before either of the Sullys could question it, Tsireya interrupted "Oh stop it, both of you! It is only gossip. Nothing but rumors!". The siblings looked confused between the girls. "What rumor?" Lo'ak wanted to be in on their secret. Lorell smiled at him. "You see, over there with the warriors next to Y/n is Fayem, the one with a healed tattoo on his left shoulder." They all looked over and saw you talking to him. "Fayem successfully passed the last trials two years ago. But he is yet to choose a mate or even court a woman." Lorell kept the tension up, but Nupxi decided to speed up the process. "Yes, and the rumor is that he didn't choose yet because he is waiting for a certain someone to pass hers." Neteyam did not like where this was going. He did not like it at all. "So that's why you, Neteyam of the forest people, should maybe not get your hopes up," Nupxi concluded. But Lorell intervened, "Don't listen to her! I am sure you have some good qualities. I mean, look at him! He is not Neteyam of the forest people. He is Neteyam, son of Toruk Makto, and...you are a good warrior, right? " Neteyam didn't know how to answer but Tuk did that for him. "The best! He was the youngest hunter ever to make a clean kill on a sturmbeest!" Lorell smiled proudly at that, looking at her friend with a satisfied smile. "You see, he is Neteyam, son of Toruk Makto, the best young warrior of the forest people!" Nupxi huffed while rolling her eyes. "Also, Y/n never even said that she was interested in Fayem. Or else Tonowari would have most likely already promised them to one another." Neteyam wanted to feel better knowing that you seemed to not care for this Fayem guy, but the thought of you being promised to anyone soured his mood. Tsireya rolled her eyes. "Don't listen to them. It is nothing more than a stupid rumor. Choosing a mate is a big decision and if it takes him longer to pursue someone, it only means that he wants to be very sure. As he SHOULD." Nupxi grinned at Tsireya. "Not all of it is a rumor. Rotxo told me, that he heard how Fayem told his brother about helping Y/n to ride her Tsurak once she recovers!" Lorell gasped at that. "You didn't tell me that!". Tsireya rolled her eyes again before looking at Neteyam. "It's only gossip. Don't let it get to your head. Neither of you!". She made a point to look at each Sully sibling individually to get her point across. Tuk grinned. "It doesn't matter anyway. Neteyam is teaching her how to ride her ikran. Fayem and no other warrior could do that better than him...well, except dad." That had the girls intrigued. "Really? Is there anything else?" Tuk took a deep breath and said, "Well-". Before Tuk could feed these gossip-hungry viperwolves, Neteyam intervened. "Tuk, don't!" Frowning, she looked at her oldest brother. "Why?" "Because gossiping is not in good taste and it will lead to rumors." Not fully understanding Tsireya's explanation, she questioned further, "But why are rumors bad?" Smiling at her innocence, Tsireya leaned toward Tuk. "Hm, it's as if I were saying that you don't like a certain food just because you once did not want to eat it because you were already full." Tuk gasped. "But that's a lie!"
"What's a lie?" All eyes turned to you as you approached the group. "Hey guys, so what's a lie?" You asked again, sitting down between Tuk and Neteyam. "A rumor is!" Tuk gladly shared her new wisdom. You glanced quickly at Tsireya briefly, who only shook her head before you turned back to Tuk. "It surely is." The group was suddenly surrounded by awkward silence. "So how is Fayem?" Lorell asked, taking a sip from her cup to make it seem like a casual question. You looked at her confused. "He is fine...?" Nupxi commented: "Oh good. We were just wondering since you seemed to be so...friendly." Now catching on, you rolled your eyes. "We were talking. You know that's what people do at celebrations. Just like we are talking now too." Lorell grinned at you, "Right, now that we are talking...did you know that Neteyam was the youngest hunter in his clan to ever make a clean kill on a sturmbeest?" She was a little unsure about the animal's name, but Tuk nodded, confirming that she got the name right. Lorell and Nupxi were waiting for your reaction. You kept your face perfectly still as you evaluated killing both of them. Concluding that it wasn't worth Eywa's or your parents' wrath, you answered as neutrally as possible. "No. But I am certain his clan was very happy and his family was very proud." The girls shared a look before leaning back. The awkward silence was back and they were all looking for something to say. Tsireya got up. "Well, I am rather hungry. I am going to get some food. Anybody else?" Tuk and Neteyam got up as well to go with Tsireya, although Neteyam mainly wanted to get away from the situation.
"We heard you trained with Toruk Makto. How was it?" Nupxi asks. You sigh. "You know, you are both very nice people when you are not trying to gather information to gossip. Yes, I did train. Yes, Toruk Makto was there as well. No, I did not focus on him as I was too busy getting thrown off of my tsurak. And yes, I am sure he is a great warrior. For any further questions about Toruk Makto, you might want to ask his children as they are sitting right next to you." Surprised by your harsh response, both girls got very quiet and started spotting a pout. "We were just asking."
At the buffet, Tsireya led Neteyam and Tuk to the foods she liked best and as she plated a little bit of everything for them Fayem approached. "Hey, guys, are you enjoying the festivities so far?" He questioned, mainly looking at Tsireya. She responded for the group. "Yes, all good. I heard that everybody was successful today." Fayem nodded at that. "Oh yeah, they all passed the trials without complications. Hunting also went well, your dad was part of the hunting party today, we brought back quite the kill." The last part was aimed at Neteyam and Tuk. Neteyam made a mental note to talk to his dad later. Rotxo called over to them, getting the small group's attention. He waved at Fayem to get back. Standing next to him were Lorell and Nupxi, as well as Ao'nung and some more of his friends. The girls were saying something that had Ao'nung roll his eyes as some of the others laughed. Great, just great. Neteyam was sure that they were making fun of him and his feelings for you. Fayem said his goodbyes before he went back to Ao'nung's group. Neteyam averted his eyes, focusing on Tsireya as she explained to him and Tuk what they were having on their plates.
When they were returning to your small group, now only consisting of Lo'ak, Kiri, and you, he first noticed Lo'ak's grim look, as you were still blocked from his view by a few people. As they got closer, he saw the reason for that. Fayem crouched next to you, clearly engaging you in a conversation you weren't keen on having— your body language told that much. As the tall male loomed over you, standing a little too close for Neteyam's liking, you sat there with your arms protectively wrapped around yourself, not even fully facing the man. Your ears were also slightly lowered and your tail curled around you. "So what do you say, hm? I could tutor you, once you get better, of course." Oh, so much for just gossip. "Uhm, that is very kind of you to offer but like I said, my dad is already teaching me...and also..." You quickly had to find a better excuse, just as you were desperately looking for something to say, Neteyam came into your view: "... also, I have already asked Neteyam to help me with my ikran, so there wouldn't be much time for any additional lessons anyway." You smiled at Neteyam, desperately urging him to back you up. Fayem's eyes fell on him as his eager expression turned into a frown, ears slicking back against his head. "You see, my brother is the best ikran rider, so she must take aaaallll the lessons. There will be no time. No time at all. Very sorry." Little Tuk once again took charge, but her sympathetic expression was not as convincing with the smile that graced her lips. Fayem turned back to you with a smile that was probably meant to be charming as he crossed his arms, making his biceps bulk. "Well, if you change your mind or if flying turns out to be easier than you think, you know where to find me. I am always happy to help." And with that, he walked off.
"What was that?" Tsireya wondered, seeing how uncomfortable you were with the situation. "Pushy is what that was." Lo'ak was annoyed at that guy's confidence. "Before you got here, she already told him no twice," Kiri explained. At that, Neteyam's jaw clenched. When he settled down, he sat close to you with his tail loosely curled around your back, subconsciously blocking you from the other group. The others followed his example and began eating.
Tsireya had good taste, that much was evident. The Sullys enjoyed every bit of food on their plates until they both reached for a type of shellfish that they had yet to open. It was a lot harder than it looked, and soon Tuk turned to Tsireya for help. Neteyam was not willing to give up that quickly, but you saw his struggle, aware that only a certain technique could open them without splintering the shell and ruining the meat in the process. "Wait, let me help!" You lay your hand over Neteyam's to stop his attempts before they could ruin the delicious meat. He looks at you with big eyes, turning his hand around to let you grab the seafood. As you took it, you shuffled closer to him so he could see your exact hand movements. "You have to hold it like so. Pressing your thumb into these dents. Then you press two fingers on the edge here..." Taking his still hovering hand, you lead his index finger over the still-sealed opening. "...then you press down hard and...there you go!" You moved your hands along your words and the shell smoothly opened up. With a proud smile, you turn to Neteyam, now realizing your close proximity. He felt your breath on his lips as you exhaled, your noses barely a finger's width apart. You both blush severely as you pull back to put some distance between you. Distracting yourself, you finished opening the shell and cleaned it. Carefully, Neteyam took the shell with the meat in it and watched you sprinkle small bits of the seasoning from his plate on the meat before you guided his hand toward his mouth. He slurps the meat into his mouth and lets the different flavors melt on his tongue. He hums, satisfied and nods happily at you.
"That's good!" Tuk exclaimed gleefully. You all chuckle at that. The casual conversation picked up again, but Neteyam kept sneaking glances at you. Sitting so close to you, he saw every little detail. From the seashells carefully beaded into your braids to the glowing dots on your face, which stood in stark contrast to your thick, long black lashes. Even the blue of your eyes seemed more vibrant up close. But nothing could surpass your smell. Like everybody in the village, you always slightly smelled of saltwater, but your own very personal smell was like a mix between sweet flowers and the fresh smell you could only perceive after heavy rain in the forest.
"So..." Lo'ak interrupted while playing with the wooden bracelet on his wrist. "...are we all going to learn how to ride tsuraks as well?" He directed his question at Tsireya, who looked to you for answers. But you weren't sure either and just shrugged. "Well, our future warriors learn that, but I mean, you all already went through the Omatikaya's trial with your ikran. I guess it is similar. I'm sure that could count too, at least until later. You have to perfect ilu riding before you can even consider riding a tsurak. And even if you consider it, a teacher would be needed, but not everybody is fit for teaching. Those who are choose their students when they are deemed worthy." Kiri's brows furrowed upon hearing that. "But our dad is training and he never rode an ilu in his life." You smirked. "Yes, and our father strongly urged him to learn with the ilus, but 'it will be hard to learn' isn't the best argument when talking to Toruk Makto."
"So how long would it take us to get good enough for tsurak training?" Neteyam wondered. He is a great warrior, he passed his ikran trial with flying colors, and (not that he would ever say anything out loud) it couldn't be that hard if Fayem learned it. "Well, that depends on your talent and your training. It won't take you years to practice, most children of the village are ready for training long before they reach their teenage years. The physical part is what takes so long since you need a good amount of muscle, stamina, and durability. That's why we have to wait that long. The biggest obstacle is finding a teacher. No trained warrior wants a student who still takes many risks. You are expected to be dutiful, they are the ones responsible for your safety after all. Sometimes younger warriors offer to teach eager young boys, thinking that they will manage, but it never ends well. More often than not, the boys stopped their training altogether and were only willing to pick it up years later, when actual warriors offered to train them. Since the last time that happened, there is an unspoken rule of asking Tonowari for permission before you approach a student to be." Kiri nudged Lo'ak with her elbow. "Level-headed AND an experienced teacher? Damn, you won't become a man before you are in your twenties!" It was clear that she was merely joking, but Tsireya didn't want any of the Sullys to feel insecure. "Oh, you don't have to worry! Like I said, I think there might be an exception for you guys. But I don't doubt that your dad would be willing to teach you later. You will reach adulthood long before that." Tsireya now looks at Neteyam, trying to reassure him, and she says: "When you have settled in, our parents will most likely talk about the best way for you to transfer the trials you already did!"
She misses the confused look Kiri and Lo'ak share: "Tsireya, that won't be necessary." Now both you and Tsireya look at Kiri confused. Why wouldn't it be necessary? Neteyam is the oldest of the siblings, so he is going to become an official adult first. "I already did all my trials. I am a full hunter back home." Neteyam's voice was calm, sure of himself. Not cocky, but confident. "Oh" you and Tsireya were surprised, neither of them ever said anything. Neteyam's siblings couldn't help but notice the twinkle of admiration in your eyes, it seemed like Fayem wouldn't be the male in your life that would be the source of good gossip.
The conversation kept going, and the atmosphere was calm. You all had a great time. At some point, Tuk got sleepy and leaned onto her older brother, dozing off. Shortly after, Jake and Neytiri approached their kids to get home.
Lo'ak as well as Kiri were walking a little ahead and Tuk seemed to be sleeping in their mother's arms, so Neteyam turned to his father. "Uhm, there was this guy we just met, Fayem, I think. He said he was part of the hunting party today...do you know him ?" Neteyam cringed at his question. Surprised, Jake looked at Neteyam. "Yes. Tall guy. Tonowari mentioned that he is one of the best warriors they currently have, bright for his age. He was very helpful today. Why do you ask?" Dispirited by his father's praising words, Neteyam dismissed the conversation. "Just wondering. Like I said, he was at the party." Jake raised an eyebrow at his son but didn't question him further. "I don't like him." Both men looked at Tuk, who was gazing sleepily gazing in their direction. "Why would you say that, Tuk?" Jake wondered as his daughter was usually friendly to everybody she met, always assuming the best. Tuk yawned, "Because he is arrogant. And he fancies Y/n but she is waaaayyy too pretty for him. And too smart. And just much better. Probably the better warrior too." Tuk rested her case as she turned her face, settling in the crock of her mother's neck. Now that made more sense to Jake. "So he is just some guy you met at the party, hm? Not a man who fancies the girl you like?" Jake teased his son, a smirk stretching across his face. Neteyam didn't look at his dad as he shrugged his shoulders. "He mentioned the hunt today, that's all. I was just curious." It didn't slip that Netayam didn't deny his father's insinuation, but Jake didn't want to pry any further.

Many years ago the Tayrangi lived further in the woods, they were living peacefully and not being disturbed by the Sky People. They were busy celebrating that their Olo'eyktan and her mate had a child. A healthy baby girl, who will be the next Olo'eyktan or Tsahik. The baby was only a couple weeks old, both Ikeyni and Tsentey were happy about their first child.
Everything had been cut short when the RDA had invaded their village. The Na'vi did everything in their power to defend themselves and each other, but the Sky People were too strong, they decided to leave, except things got worse, as they fled, the Sky People began to abduct kids no older than 3 or 5 years old and killing there parents in front of them, so that they had no other choice but to leave with them. Then the village had been set on fire by the sky people. They had left with some kids and infants.
Ikeyni had gone back to the village, in order to find her child. "Maite! Maite!" she screamed, searching in the now burning village, then she went inside the hut that was once hers and mate's home. "Maite!" she ran over to where he baby was suppose to be but her baby was gone. "Maite!" she screamed like a mountain banshee. Ikeyni began to move things to see if her child was anywhere to be found, but no, she didn't find her child. It began to drive here crazy, until Tsentey went in to look for him mate, he found her crying and screaming. "Ikeyni! We have to go!" he attempted to grab her, but she struggled against him. "No! I need to find our daughter!" she cried as her mate pulled her close. "My love we have to go! The people need us1 They need you!" he begged as his mate continued to cry in pain. He was right, they had to leave to make sure their people were safe, as much as she wanted to stay and find her baby, her people needed her.
The na'vi were in tears, some injured by the fire and sky people's weapons. Not only that but they also lost their brothers and sister, children and infants got taken away too. They had to find a new place to live in. Ikeyni turned back to look at her once home, in tears, she watched as the fire burned down her home. She swore to herself that she will get her revenge on the Sky People, for hurting her people and taking her child. She also swore that she will never have a child again.
ʏᴇᴀʀ 2154
15 years had passed, you along with other na'v kids had been living with the RDA for years, ever since you were an infant. They had told you that your parents had abandon you all and the humans had decided to take you in and teach you many human things. So here you were sitting in your class room with your other classmates, wearing the RDA uniform, writing on your book. As soon as you learned how to walk and talk, you were placed in a school program with the other kids. You learned to speak both Na'vi and English, as well as writing, using technology and you also learned how to use the weapons that the RDA had.
You could whatever but there was one rule, to never leave Hell's gate. You were aloud to explore the outside, but you had to be with your teacher who was an avatar and a your classmates. The RDA had told you stories about how the forest was no place for a child and they told you the many dangers you were exposed to, but you also couldn't help but wonder why you weren't allowed to. Not only that but you were kept isolated from the humans, you barely saw any other humans and had no idea on what was happening outside the class room.
Your teacher was busy talking and writing on the board, you weren't paying attention, you were busy looking outside the window, imagining how the forest would be like. You've also had been getting this odd dreams, of a na'vi couple. A woman and a man, they seemed fierce and scary, but they also seemed loving towards you. The woman would sing songs to you and the man seemed to love your presence. Not only that, but you also had been seen a tree, this tree glowed a purple color and there was this strange tassels on them, this people and tree felt familiar in a way. Not only that but there was this little flying creatures flying around the tree.
You had bee busy day dreaming that you didn't hear the teacher call out your name. "Y/n? Y/n!" she said loud enough to get your attention. You snapped out of your daydream and looked over at the female avatar. "Y-Yes?" you said, then your classmates began to laugh at you, making you feel embarrassed. "Are you feeling alright?" she asked, as you nodded. "Yes Ma'am ... sorry" you said while looking down in shame. Your teacher gave you a look of concern. "Please stay after class, I'd like to have a word with you" she said, making your class chuckle and chattering. Your teacher shushed the class and went back to writing on the board.
After the class, your classmates left, to go get their military training done. You stood up and approached the teacher's dark, she was sitting on the desk, grading work. "What did you want to talk about Ma'am?" you asked, the teacher then placed her papers down and looked at you. "You have been distracted y/n, is something wrong?" she asked, sounding concerned. Despite being a teacher, she was also your mother figure. "No.. it's just..." you stopped, not knowing what to say. She waited for you to answer. "I just.. been thinking about the woods.." you said, making your teacher eyes widen. "I know I'm not suppose to go in them but.. I want to.. I wish to explore and learn everything about them" you said, while fidgeting with your thumbs.
Your teacher sighed and got up from her desk, walking around to stand face to face with you. "I know, you and the other kids wish to go to the woods, but it's the rules. As much as I want to take you all, I have to follow orders." She explained sadly. She once tried to all to the deeper part of the woods, but it was forbidden, rules are rules. You simple nodded. "I understand... can I go now?" you asked, looking down sadly. You teacher sighed and nodded. "You may go" she said sadly. You then walked out of class and went to where your classmates were.
You had entered the shooting range, it wasn't your first time here, you had been here a couple times. Your group was put here while the other group were learning hand to hand combat. Once you had on your safety glasses and sound canceling headphones, you got a gun and began to load it. After hours on learning how to shoot with different weapons, you all were allowed to go to your recess, before having to go back to your final class.
You were sitting on the bench outside, as your class mates played basketball or did other things on the training field equipment. "Hey y/n!" your friend Carmella, another na'vi had approached and sat next to you. "Hey what happened in class?" she asked. "Nothing, I was just, day dreaming.." you said. "Let me guess, about your dreams?" she asked, knowing full well, she had been the one you've told about your day dreaming and other dreams. "Yeah, this couple, they... feel familiar and that tree I've told you about.." you said. Making your friend tilt her head. "Who knows, we all have strange dreams and what not" she said, then she looked over and spotted someone. "Hey, Ima go ask James if he did the homework from yesterday, I'll be back" Carmella said, then she got up and left to go talk to the na'vi boy. Who she obviously had a crush on.
A couple moments had passed and Carmella wasn't back. You assumed she was still talking to James. Then you spotted something approach you, it looked oddly familiar, once you got a good look on what it was, it was the little creature from your dreams. You stared at it wide eyed. You thought the flying jelly fish was only a figment of your imagination. The little creature flew towards the back of your hand, you looked at it, fascinated. The creatures legs were lightly touching your hand softly. Then someone had called for you. "Y/n! Let's go! Break's over!" Carmella said, you got up from the bench an watched as the creature began to fly away, back to where it came from. As you walked back to the building, you looked back to see the creature fly away, back into the woods.
Class had been over, you and Carmella were in your shared room. You had been writing on your notebook, finishing your homework so that it could be checked tomorrow. You also got distracted by drawing the little creature on your notes. "Finally, I can rest!" Carmella had come in, her hair must have been wet due from showing in the locker room. She fell face forward on her bed, she was obviously tired from today. "Are you almost done? I want to get some shut eye" your friend said. "Yeah... just reviewing my work" you said, closing your notebook and placed it on the desk that you both shared. Then you went over and turned off the lights. Carmella got comfortable on her bed. "Good night y/n" she said, as you then laid down on your bed and responded. "Good night Carmella" you said. Carmella was already asleep, you on the other hand couldn't sleep as fast as she did. You had been thinking even more then before, specially since that creature from your dreams had gone to you. What that some kind of a sign or a coincidence? Who knew.
The next morning, it felt off. You had gone to class, but your teacher was late. Normally she'd be on time and had us working already. Your classmates had decided to take advantage of this and began to talk to one another. While they did that, you were busy checking your own work, until then the door had been burst open. Three humans with breathing masks on and guns came in. Everyone was confused on what was happening, then the guns were pointed at you all. Causing your classmates to scream and cower over to the back of the room. You followed them, scared and confused, some even began crying out of fear. What was happening?!
"Kill them! Kill them all!" one of the men said, then the three got their guns and pointed them at you all again. But before anything could happen. Your teacher had got in the class room, and shoot at the men, killing them instantly. Everyone looked in horror as the three men dropped dead. "Come with me!" your teacher said, with out hesitation, you all followed behind your teacher. The alarms on the hall ways were on and a lot of commission was happening outside. Then you were all lead to a room in the basement, the room was kind of dark and isolated, then you saw the many cryosleep pods with a table with all sorts of buttons.
"Everyone, get in a pod!" your teaches instructed, without hesitation everyone went into a pod, except for you. "Ma'am, what is happening!" you asked, but your teacher lead you to a pod and got you in. "No time to explain, you'll know the truth later" she said, once inside the pod, she closed the pod. You attempted to open the pod but you couldn't. Your teacher had gone to the table and began to turn activate your pods. You attempted to open your pod but you couldn't, you wanted to know what was happening, why did the RDA, your so called saviors wanted to kill you, you wanted to know what was happening. The last thing you saw was your teacher, she had tears in her eyes, she then placed her hand on the top of the glass of your pod. You did the same, placing your hand on the glass where her five fingered hand was, if it weren't for the glass, your four fingers would be able to touch her hand. Next thing you knew, everything went black, you had been put on cryosleep, for who knows how long.
ʏᴇᴀʀ 2169 (15 ʏᴇᴀʀꜱ ʟᴀᴛᴇʀ)
Spider, Kiri, and Lo'ak had been hanging around Hell's Gate, they liked to explore around the abandoned buildings and so on. Exploring the place wasn't a new thing, but they just liked to be around were the humans once were. It was a fun activity that they liked to do. "Come on guys!" Spider yelled out to the Sully kids, who were right behind him. "We're coming!" Lo'ak yelled towards the human boy as him and his sister caught up to him.
"We should go somewhere else, we've already explored here!" Kiri whined as Spider stopped in his tracks. "Come on! I'm sure there is more to explore then just this!" he said, as he began to walk slower with the two na'vi kids. "Yeah Kiri, come on" her brother protested. Kiri just rolled her eyes and followed the two boys.
Then she stopped and spotted an abided building, she wasn't sure if that building was there before. "Hey guys!" she called out to them, making them stop to look at her. "What is it now?" Lo'ak asked, while walking over to her, followed by Spider. "Was that building there before?" she asked, once the boys were where she was, they too saw the building that she was talking about. "I have no idea, how did we not see it before?" Spider asked, now curious, he's never seen that building either. "What ever it is, I'm gonna go see" Lo'ak said, going towards the building that was covered in all kinds of plants.
The other two followed the boy, also curious on what the building could possible had. Lo'ak opened the door, and walked in, the building was pretty big, it was Avatar/Na'vi kind of big, strange. He along with Kiri and Spider looked around, opening doors which lead to classrooms, bedrooms, locker rooms and other kids of things. "Wow, this is kind of cool" Lo'ak said, walking in a classroom which had the door open. He looked at the board which had writing on it as well as plants growing on around the wood, he got a look at the walls, which had posters of things such as multiplication tables and the alphabet. When he looked down he saw three skeleton corpses, making him gasp and stumble back. Not only that but there was bullet holes on the floor, and some on the wall. "What the hell happened?" he whispered to himself.
"Lo'ak! Come quick!" Spider yelled from afar, Lo'ak gave the room one final look and went to were his friend and sister were. He walked down some stairs which lead to what he assumed was a basement. he walked in a dark room, where the his sister and friend were. "Look dude!" Spider said, pointing at the cryosleep pods. "Damn" Lo'ak whispered, seen the many closed pods. He then got close, seen that the pods had dust on them, which made them impossible to look thought them. Kiri on the other hand had been on the control table, looking at the many buttons and other things.
Spider got close to a pod, then climbed on top of the dusty pod, out of curiosity, he began to wipe off the dust off the glass to see if anyone was in the closed pod. He then gasped when he saw that someone was in the pod sleeping. "Holy shit!" he said, getting off. "What bro!?" Lo'ak approached his friend. "Someone's in there!" Spider said, still surprised. The na'vi boy then looked through pod and saw the person sleeping. "It's... an avatar?" he said confused, looking back at Spider then back at Kiri who had somehow turned on a screen and was looking at the screen of a heart beat, that must of been of the person in the pod. "Yeah, and they are still alive" she said, making the boys look at each other in shock, then back at Kiri. "We need to call somebody" Spider said to both the na'vi kids.

TW: Avatar Frontier of Pandora Spoilers, a bit of Somniphobia, insomnia
A/N: Sorry if it feels short :(
Masterlist
You were in the Avatar's tent, you were laying on a hammock that was in the far corner of the room. You couldn't sleep, more like, you didn't want to sleep, you feared that if you go to sleep, you'll end up sleeping for another fifteen years. You tried your hardest to keep your eyes open, you thought of the things that you did in the past and remembered some memories you made with your teacher, Miss. Cameron. You still wondered what could of happened to her, but when you asked about her to the human, it was as if, they didn't know her. It was odd.
As much as you tried to be awake, you ended up falling asleep. That you had dreamed many things, they were confusing dreams, as if someone or something was trying to tell you something. But you also dreamt of that couple you would dream of years back, except this time you saw them a bit more clearly, you couldn't completely see their faces, but you got somewhat of an idea of what they looked like. Who could they possibly be? Was this couple related to you in a way?
The next day you had gone back to the old school building, to your old room, to get some of your things. When you looked around the old not dusty and vine covered room, you couldn't help but remember the things that would happen in the room. How you and Carmella would stay up pass your bedtime and talk to each other about whatever. You missed her dearly, same with your classmates.
You looked at your things, you only got a few things, mainly what you needed, according to you. The Scientists had allowed you to stay with them in the avatars tent. You had slept in a small corner which was now your spot in the tent. The main reason was so that they could keep an eye on your health, perhaps later on you could make your tent, after you learned how of course. You were back at the tent, in your small corner. You had brought back a change of clothes, a vest that you had, other stuff that you were given to by the RDA, and a notebook. The notebook still had your old school notes, but since there as no more school to go to, maybe you could start writing your thoughts in it.
'Where do I begin? It has only been a day that has passed since I woke up. A lot has happened since the last time I could remember, I mean, I was in cryosleep for about fifteen years now and not only that but my classmates are still in Cryosleep and I have no idea where my teacher is, It was as if she disappeared... I don't know... Everything is just confusing.'
'Not only that but I had that dream again. The one with the couple, but this time I was able to see them a bit more clearly. The woman had some kind of red on her skin and the man had some kind of armor? I couldn't tell what he was wearing, but this was my first dream in fifteen years you could say.'
You finished writing and you closed the book, it was a short summary of what's happened to far, you could maybe write something later, for now, you just wanted to process everything that is happening around you. Then you heard someone come in, the tent had been empty since the Avatars and the scientists were out doing there stuff. When you looked up to see who it was, it was none other then Tuk. Ever since you had met her, she had grown some kind of interest in you and she had liked you right away.
"Hey y/n!" she called out to you and approached you. "Hey Tuk, how are you?" you asked politely towards the kid. "I'm good! You want to come with me?" she asked, maybe the woods could do you some good. "Sure why not" you said, getting up from the floor and placed your notebook on the hammock. Tuk then took your hand and lead you out of the tent, before you both could go any further you were stopped by Jake. "Where are you two going?" he asked, approaching you and Tuk. "I'm gonna show y/n around the village" she said, turning to look up at her dad. Jake then looked at you both. "Alright, if y/n doesn't feel any good, you bring her back to the avatar tent, got it?" he told his daughter, who simply nodded and proceeded to take you away.
Tuk had been showing you around the whole high camp, first she showed you were she lived, who her friends were and where the ikran would hang around. It was interesting to see how the na'vi lived. Lastly she took you to meet both her mom and grandmother, since you had already met her dad and siblings, they were the other people you didn't meet. She had been pulling your arm so that you could walk fast towards the tent.
"Mom! Grandma! This is y/n!" Tuk yelled to get the attention of both a older and young woman. They both stopped what they were doing and looked over at the younger na'vi and the teen who was being pulled around by the child. You did the greeting gesture towards the women out "oel ngati kameie" you said, hoping that you had sad it right. Both them women did the gesture back, out of respect, then the much older woman approached you.
You didn't move, instead allowed her to get a look at you. She got a hold of your hand to look at it, seen that you only had three fingers and a thumb, it surprised her a bit, she thought that you might of been an avatar. Then she looked into your eyes and inspected them closely. "You look familiar." She said to her self, examining more of you. "Her name is y/n! She' the one that was woken up from the sleeping pod" Tuk talked for you. All Mo'at did was hum. "Well, It seems that you'll need to be taught how to live like us, unless you want to?" she said looking at you. "If that's what appropriate I will ma'am" you said.
Mo'at then turned to look at the other woman. "I believe that Neteyam would be a good teacher, what do you think Neytiri?" she asked. Neytiri nodded. "Yeah, Neteyam can teach her" she responded. Mo'at then turned back to face you. "My grandchild, Neteyam, he will teach you everything that you need to learn." She to you, then she turned to Tuk. "Tuk, could you go get your brother?" she asked, without hesitation, Tuk went out of the tent to get Neteyam.
A couple minutes had passed, Neteyam and Tuk had come in the tent. "Grandmother, Mother" he said bowing his head towards Mo'at and Neytiri. Then Mo'at went up to him. "Neteyam, you're responsible to teach y/n everything that you know of our ways, since she's already learned the Dreamwalkers way, she'll now known ours, understood?" she asked towards the young boy. Neteyam nodded and responded "yes Grandmother, I will" he said politely and respectfully. "First things first, get her something else to wear." Mo'at instructed him. Then Neteyam guided you out of the tent, followed by Tuk.
You were given a change of clothes, but instead of human clothes, it was the clothes the girls would wear. The top was of feathers that barely covered anything and the loincloth was, how could you describe it? It was basically underwear with a cloth that hanged. You looked down at yourself, to see how you looked with the na'vi attire on. "What do you think? I thought It would fit you since we're some what of the same size, later I can help you make your own" Kiri said while her and Tuk were helping you with your hair, they had put it up and added a couple braids with some beads.
You were moving a bit on the floor, trying to get used to the loincloth. "Are you sure this suits me? Aren't I showing to much?" you asked. "You look fine!" Tuk said, finishing a small braid and putting in a bead. "Yeah, you'll get used to it" Kiri said, while adding some kind of ring accessory on your queue. "Done! You look like one of us now!" Tuk said excited, helping you get up from the floor with Kiri. You felt your face heat up a bit by her complement. "I just hope that I become one of you later on." You said with a shy chuckle, while touching your hair, feeling the many little braids on your head.
You then heard both Neteyam and Lo'ak coming in the tent, they were talking about something, but Neteyam went silent as soon as he saw you. He couldn't help but stare at you, feeling his cheeks turn purple b the sight of you. "Is something wrong?" you asked worriedly, looking down at yourself. Neteyam tried to say something, but all that came out from his mouth was babbling, his brother was fed up and decided to talk for him. "I'm sorry about him, what he wants to say is that you look stunning" he said in a flirty way. Making your cheeks warm up. "Thank you.." you said shyly. Then both Kiri and Tuk decided that they wanted to take you out, so they both got a hold of your hand and dragged you out of the tent.
"Bro, what was that?" Lo'ak asked his older brother who manage to get a hold of himself. "Sorry, I don't know.." he said a bit embarrassed, then Lo'ak had an evil little smirk. "Oh~ I see~" he said teasingly. "What?" he asked. "You like y/n don't you?" Lo'ak asked while wiggling his eyes brows. "N-NO! Not at all, I am to be her teacher, and don't like her that way" Neteyam shouted, with a purple blush on his cheeks. "Uh huh, sure. You know, maybe after she completes her rite of Passage you could court her" Lo'ak adviced him. Neteyam stopped to think, maybe his brother was right for once, he could try and court you. "If not then I'll court y/n, I mean, who wouldn't want moi as their mate?" Lo'ak said with confidence, making Neteyam laugh. "You wish" he said to his little brother, earning a fake pout from him.

~🌊🌊🌊~
Hot tears mix with the rain as they roll down your cheeks, you take a hand away from your Ikran to push them away, and urge her to move faster. The wind whips through your hair as lightning illuminates the sky, and the sound deafens you as you take refuge in the trees. Landing, you dismount Tompìva and pat her neck, trying to find a somewhat dry place to hide when you spot a small metal building. After calming your Ikran you take refuge inside the small cramped building.
After entering the broken down door, you take note of how strange the small building is, and decide that it must be a skyperson's home. Wringing the water out of your hair you lay down on one of the soft beds at the end of the room, hoping no one will come back here anytime soon you drift off into a dream filled with your sister's shouting and look of disdain.
You feel something tap your arm and flinch, covering your face with your arm, "Five more minutes tsmuke," but the tapping doesn't stop.
Sitting up you glance around the unfamiliar surrounding before remembering the events of the last night. Standing you glance out one of the broken windows, sunlight streaming into it, nearly blinding you.
The ground is soft and muddy under your feet as you step outside, the rain is now long gone. Stepping towards the trees your feet catch on something and you fall face first into the mud, "Damn!"
Groaning, you sit up and inspect it, no damage, but notice a strange metal thing poking out of the ground. Your face contorts in confusion when you look down at it, noticing a skull inside of it.
"What is this?"
Hearing a twig snap, and movement in the leaves, a chill runs down your spine. Your tail flits against the ground nervously as you unsheathe your knife, dropping the skull. The shaking of leaves to your right makes you flinch, turning you watch as a pair of yellow eyes glare at you. And that's when you feel it. An arm throws you to the ground, and another grabs your Tsaheylu and yanks you up.
Hissing at your unseen attacker you struggle against his grip, but it's no use as your knife is knocked from your hand.
"And who might you be?" a voice asks as you flail and kick the air.
His hand grabs your chin roughly and forces you to look up at him, his eyes scanning your face for something. You hiss, baring your teeth at him before he laughs and tightens his grip.
"You don't look like him," he says and you glare.
"I don't understand," you choke out as his hand tilts your head from side to side.
"But you could be useful," dropping your face he turns to leave.
As he takes a step into the trees you watch as an arrow flies past him, landing in the dirt. The end is covered in familiar blue and yellow feathers, and your heart sinks. Why did you follow me here?
Another arrow plants itself in the person who's holding you, and they fall back choking on their own blood. With your new freedom, you snatch up your knife and slash at the two behind you before running to the trees, your legs carrying you as far away as possible before you slump to the ground.
Trying to catch your breath you hear the sound of gunshots ring through the forest. Freezing, you wait before standing and running back to the abandoned building. You can feel your blood run cold at the sight, the strangers gone, and in their place bleeding out on the forest floor is Aosìng.
Kneeling beside him you almost puke. His body is littered with at least five bullet holes, putting pressure on the wound you call for your Ikran.
"Damnit! Why did you follow me here?" you shout as you pull him onto your Ikran and take flight.
~🌊🌊🌊~
It doesn't take long before you reach the parts of the forest you'd never even attempted to go to before. And you watch as the trees begin to thicken blocking out the forest floor. You urge Tompìva to slow down when you see strange tracks parting the trees, and a train comes into view. It speeds along the rail soundlessly as you pass by, careful not to be seen. Hearing the screeching of other Ikran, you glance over to see ten others flying around the train.
Flying lower, you attempt to land when you hear an explosion and feel yourself falling through the sky. Your hold on Aosìng weakens and he slips from your hands.
The last thing you hear before your body hits the ground is the pained screeching of Tompìva as she falls with you.
~🌊🌊🌊~
Neteyam's eyes scan the area around the train as the others grab supplies when he hears the screeching of an Ikran. His head whips around scanning the sky when he spots it, a blue and purple Ikran falling through the sky and into the trees, its rider not far behind. He glances over at Lo'ak before heading off to the forest.
He rushes past the trees trying to find it, hoping it isn't too serious when he spots it. The now dead Ikran laying atop its rider. He rushes to their side slowly lifting the Ikran off of them and gasps. A girl who couldn't be much older than him is lying on the forest floor covered in her own blood.
After lifting her up his face falls once he recognizes her, "y/n?"
There are two bullet holes scattered across your torso, and one almost on your neck. He carefully lifts her into his arms when your eyes shoot open, "Tompìva!"
You leap forward, your hands cradling your Ikran's head in your lap as you sob. He watches as you turn and look around, muttering something he can't hear through your cries before you collapse.
~🌊🌊🌊~
Your head pounds and your eyes flutter open, the glow of fire greeting you. You stand, wincing in pain when you notice someone standing at the entrance, looking in at you. You realize you don't recognize them when a hand forces you to sit.
"Your wounds will reopen if you do not sit and rest," you glance up to see an older woman now checking your wounds.
Slowly scanning the room, your eyes land on your small bag, once filled with flowers and herbs, now laying empty by the fire, and the memories come flooding back.
"Tompìva! Where is she?!? Is she hurt?!?" you shout, your breathing ragged as you frantically reach for your bag, only for a voice to stop you in your tracks.
"Who are you?"
Your hands tightly grip your bag as you look up to see the man in the entrance speaking. He looks familiar, you think to yourself before you clear your throat, answering his question, ""My name is - te Tsyuäval Ìe'ite. I am the Tsak-" you pause, deciding on whether to tell them the truth or not, but decide against it, "Who are you?"
His face is unreadable as he steps closer to the fire, a woman walking in behind him, her eyes with suspicion as she looks you over.
"What were you doing in the forest? And where are you from?"
You glare at him, repeating yourself, "My name is - te Tsyuäval Ìe'ite. Who are you?"
He groans in frustration as the woman next to him puts a hand on his shoulder, whispering something in his ear.
You cross your arms and watch as they argue, before he turns to you again, "I am Jake Sully, Toruk Makto, and Olo'eyktan of the Omatikaya Clan. Now, what were you doing in the forest and where are you from?"
You cover your mouth, concealing a gasp as you realize where it is you recognize him from.
"Ikeyni," you cough and wince before continuing, "I am Ikeyni's sister, Tsakarem of the Tayrangi Clan of the Eastern Sea."
He looks at you in confusion, looking to the woman before she speaks, "Ikeyni?."
A look of surprise washes over Jake's face as he turns to you, "Then what were you doing in the forest?"
You can feel tears pricking at your eyes when you recall the last conversation you had with your sister, and how you stormed off in the middle of the night.
"I was gathering herbs," you lie, your voice cracking at the end, and you can already feel the hot tears spilling down your cheeks.
His voice is solemn when asks his next question, "And where is your Ikran?"
A sob escapes you as you wipe away your tears, "She is with Eywa now," your hands wipe furiously at your eyes as your body is wracked with sobs.
Neytiri turns to Jake, her eyes full of concern, "We should let her rest, for now."
He nods in agreement before leaving, thinking about what to do next.
~🌊🌊🌊~
You wake in a cold sweat, your dreams filled with the screeching of Tompìva, and your sister's words, "You are the Tsakarem, future Tsahìk of our Clan. What would I do if you had-"
You shake your head, pushing the thoughts away when you hear someone clear their throat. You turn to see Kiri standing in the entrance, a plate of food in her hands. She gives you a small smile as she walks towards you, taking a seat in front of you.
"Hi," you take the plate from her, careful not to spill its contents on the floor.
"Hi Kiri, right?" you whisper, your voice still hoarse from the screaming.
"I didn't think I'd see you so soon again," she says as you take a small bite of the fruit on the plate, cringing when the sour taste envelopes your mouth.
You thank her and push your hair out of your face, dreading what will happen when your sister finds out where you are.
"If it's okay, can I ask more about the Eastern Sea?"
Her voice is cautious, as she looks down at the floor. Setting your bowl down you nod, grateful for a brief reprieve from the events of the day.
"There's sand everywhere, and the ocean is always so pretty-"
You're cut off when you hear someone clear their throat. Looking up you see Jake standing with his arms crossed as he nods to Kiri.
She gives you another smile and grabs your plate, "I hope you recover soon."
You return her smile and thank her again before Jake walks closer to the fire, his brow twisted in contemplation.
Your eyes stare at the floor as you wait for him to speak, your hands twisting the ends of your hair. And you wonder where you lost your hairclip when he finally speaks, "So, you won't be able to leave right now," he gestures to your wounds, "But once you're all healed up, we'll take you back, okay?"
You frown, "What of my sister?"
Head spinning you jumped to your feet, nearly doubling over in pain as you hobbled to the entrance, "I swear I saw her Ikran before..."
He sighs as he rubs his eyes, "Ikeyni is fine, your friend however," he trails off as if trying to find the right words to say before continuing, "He'll live, but it will take longer for him to recover."
"My friend?" you question as you sit up, trying to remember more of what had happened before you blacked out.
That's when it hits you, Aosìng, that stupid skxawng! He had somehow managed to find you and from the looks of it, abandoned the raid. Which shouldn't have been for another two days...
"Was that, the raid?" you ask quietly crossing your arms.
Jake nods as Mo'at leaves, "It was moved forward after a change of plans."
But before he can you grab his arm, "Does she know where I am?"
Jake takes a deep breath before answering, "No, she doesn't know where you are."
You feel a mixture of relief and guilt wash over you. Relief that your sister is safe, but guilt for how you left things with her.
"When can I leave?" you ask, looking up at him.
"We'll take care of you until you're healed enough to travel, and then we'll take you back," he replies, his voice steady.
You nod slowly, taking in his words. You know that you owe gratitude to the Omatikaya for saving your life, but you can't help but feel like you were worsening things with your sister by staying.
Laying down as he leaves you let yourself drift off to an uncomfortable sleep.
~🌊🌊🌊~
Neteyam's eyes glanced over at Kiri as she filled a bowl with more fruit. His tail flicked about impatiently as she started to leave. Crossing his arms he gently grabbed her shoulder, "Do you mind if I take it to her?"
Kiri glanced up at him and smiled, "Sure," she said before handing him the bowl.
Carefully walking to the end of the caves, Neteyam entered your hut to see you sitting in front of the fire arms crossed.
"Kiri, I'm not really-"
Clearing his throat, Neteyam interrupted you, "Here."
Watching as you accepted the bowl from him he sat across from the fire.
"Are you, okay?" he asks and then immediately bites his tongue.
Your expression is one of worry mixed with guilt as you set the bowl down.
"Sorry, I shouldn't have-"
"It's okay," you reassure, giving him a small smile before continuing, "I feel guilty," you pause at the feeling of warm tears rolling down your face.
Feeling a warmth on your face you blink, and see Neteyam's hand wiping away the falling tears.
"Guilt over what?" he asks his voice low.
"I got into a fight, with my sister," a sob wracks your body as you remember the look on her face as you left.
She had been so disappointed.
Netetyam's mouth opened and closed, trying to think of what to say, before a sob wracked your body. He quickly wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you close, resting his chin on top of your head.
A few moments of silence had passed, Neteyam's chest now wet with your tears before you heard something clatter to the floor.
Looking over Neteyam's shoulder you flinched, Aosìng was standing in the entrance, gripping it so hard his hand shook.

The kids had gone to get Norm, Max, other scientists and their dad. When the adults came to see the cryosleep pods, they were in shock when they saw them. How could they have missed this building, when the kids told them about avatars being in the pods, they got to work in trying to figure out how they could get the pods to open.
It was hard since not all of the pods were able to open, it's been a long time that anyone had been in here, all except for one. Norm and Max managed to get the only available pod to open. Once the pod had opened, they all saw how a female na'vi that what seemed to be 15 years old came out. Then a scientist approached the girl, looking for any sign of movements.
You slowly began to open your eyes, but you were met with a light being flashed in your eyes, causing your pupils to dilate. "Hello? Can you hear me?" the human lady asked, while pointing her flashlight in your eyes and snapping her fingers close to your ears. You groaned and slowly sat up. "Take it easy" the lady kindly said, you moved your upper body a bit, then you looked around, seen the many human and two adult na'vi in the room. "Wha... who are you?" you asked in a raspy voice, feeling yourself weak, it must have been the side effect from the cryosleep. You felt unconfutable and dizzy. "She needs to be put under observation" the lady said towards the others.
Then came two males who were na'vi, at least they looked like na'vi. One of them looked very human and the other looked like the na'vi you've been taught in class. "It's okay, just take it easy." One of them said, helping you get up from the pod. You felt your legs feel weak and trembling. Both of the na'vi men got a hold of you on each side of your body and helped you walked slowly. "Where is... m-my teacher..." you asked weakly, trying to hold onto the men as much as possible. "You'll know everything you need to know, but we have to treat you first" the man said, as him and the other walked you out the room.
You were taken to what seemed to be an outdoor lab, it was in some kind of hidden camp that no one knew about except for them. This was your first time out from the base and into the woods, the woods weren't as bad as the RDA had made it sound, it was more peaceful then dangerous, it was also beautiful. How could the RDA make something beautiful sound awful.
You had been sitting on a big stool, after you had been given something to eat and water to drink, the same lady had began to check on you. She checked your vision, hearing, body movements and every other thing that needed to be checked. "So far so good" the lady said, while writing stuff down on her clip board. You looked around the tent and saw the many things that they had, very interesting, this got you to wonder how much time has passed.
Then a man that had barely to little clothes and dreads came in the tent. "How is she?" he asked the lady, who looked up at him. "She's alright, she still has to take it easy though, her body's trying to get used to being awake again, she may feel nauseous or dehydrated, but so far so good." She explained to the man, who simply nodded. "Thank you" he said, then the lady left the tent, leaving both you and the guy alone.
"Hey kid" he said, getting closer to you. "Hello Sir" you said politely as you stood up, out of respect. The man looked surprised by your action, but got to the point. "You may not know me, but I'm Jake Sully, who may you be?" he asked politely. You then stock out your hand to him, revealing your three fingers and thumb to him, showing that you're a full na'vi and not an avatar. "My name is Y/n L/n, from class 03" you said, then Jake took your small hand and shook it. "Well, it's a pleasure to meet you Y/n" he said, and you responded "like wise, sir."
Jake couldn't help but notice how much of a human you were, sure you were a full na'vi, but yet you acted like a human. Then his kids Kiri, Lo'ak, Spider, and Tuk had come in, followed by Neteyam who had tried to prevent them from going inside the tent. "Is she okay?" "How is she doing?" they had bombarded their father with questions about your health. "Alright, Alright! Stay calm! She's okay" Jake said while calming down the kids. You looked at the kids, they were just like you, except for the small human boy, the other kids were around what looked to be your age, if not younger. Then you looked at the oldest boy, who had a look of embarrassment due to him not being able to keep the other kids from out side the tent.
He then looked at you, in the eyes, you couldn't explain why but you suddenly felt the time stop. He couldn't help but send you a friendly smile, in which you politely bowed your head to the boy. You did the same towards him, out of politeness. Then the youngest out of all the kids came up to you and studied you a bit, she got a good look at you. From your face and what you were wearing. "What's your name?" she asked. "I'm y/n l/n, from class 03. What class are you in?" you asked, making the kid laugh. "I'm Tuk, and I'm not in any class." She said.
Finally Jake got his other kids to calm down, then he turned back to you who was now interacting with his youngest daughter. "Kids, this is Y/n, the girl that was in the pod" he said gesturing to you, who sent them a polite smile. One thing you noticed about them was not that they weren't wearing a uniform like you were, there wore little to nothing, it was so issue since you've learned that's what na'vi wore. "Hey you know what, y/n probably needs some fresh air, she's been sleeping for who knows how long." Tuk suggested, then she took your hand and lead you away from everyone, but they followed right behind. Before Neteyam could go with them, he was pulled aside towards his father. "Keep an eye on Y/n, if anything happens bring her back, do you understand boy?" he asked his son, who nodded his head towards his father. "Yes sir" he said, then he left to follow the group of kids that had just left.
The kids had introduced themselves to you as they lead you around the woods. They've also asked you questions about how were things before you went to sleep and other stuff. "Why do you wear that stuff?" Kiri had asked, curious on why you wore a white collard shirt, a black pleated skirt, white knee socks and black school shoes. "It's my school uniform" you explained. "What's a school?" Lo'ak asked this time. "It's where they teach you many things, like how to read, write, math, speak another language and how to communicate with your peers.. it's like a place to be prepared for the real world" you talked and they listened, they seemed to be very curious about you.
Just like they had asked about you, you have asked about them. From what you heard from them, there kind of learning was way different from yours. They didn't go to school, they learned there stuff from there parents and people around them, very interesting. They also had to teach you a few things about the woods, you had very little knowledge of the woods, mostly about how dangerous they were, but this kids have been living in the woods since they were born, it must not be as dangerous as the RDA had made it seem.
But the whole time you were out, you were thinking of what happened to your teacher and what will happen to your classmates. It really worried you. While the younger kids were running around the pods that they had taken you to see, the older brother had decided to stay behind to be with you. He was basically out in charge of you, so he did what a good listener would do. "How are you feel y/n?" Neteyam asked while looking at you. "Yeah, I'm alright, just a light headache that's all" you said, then he had an idea. "Come, you might be thirsty." He said, leading you to a purple plant with leaves that seemed like tubs. He got a hold of one and gestured for you to approach, you did. "Lift your head up and open your mouth" he said, you felt a bit skeptical at first, but you did what he had asked. Then he pulled the plant down and then you felt some water splash into your mouth. It surprised you a bit, but you drank the water anyway.
After a couple minutes, Neteyam let go of the plant and you stopped drinking. "Thank you" you said, wiping your mouth. "No problem, this all most be new to you." He commented. "Yeah, I've never been in the woods, for as long as I know" you said, feeling a bit shy all of a sudden, you couldn't explain why. "You'll get the hang of it" he said with a small smile, that smile caused you to feel fluttering happening in your stomach. Then Neteyam looked up at the sky and hummed. "We better go, It's almost eclipse" he said, then he and you went back to get the other kids and tell them that they have to head back home.
When you all got back, you were checked again, it might be annoying, but due to being in cryosleep for years, you needed almost constant care since the side effects could get worse. After your check up, you had gone back to the building and ask about your classmates. Norm and Max had told you that due to the machines not being monitored for years the system somehow slowed down and it'll be a while to get everyone to wake up. That worried you, this could take weeks, months, even years, that worriedly a lot.
You headed back to the high camp, the whole time you had been thinking of your classmates, you basically grew up with them, they were your brothers and sisters, you really hoped that they'd wake up sooner rather then later. You then pumped into somebody. "Sorry!" you said, then looked at who it was, it was Neteyam. "It's alright, don't worry about it" he said kindly. "Are you feeling any better?" he asked. "Yeah, I'll be under observation for a week or two, just to be sure that I'm alright and my side effects don't worsen" you explained. When looking at Neteyam you got that fluttering feeling in your stomach again, where you feeling sick?
"That's good, I'm glad that you're okay. Have you got a word about your classmates?" he asked out of curiosity. You responded sadly. "Norm and Max told me that it could take a while to get their pods to open.. since the system had not been monitored in such a long time... this could takes months if not years.." you said. "I'm sorry to hear that, but I'm sure that your classmates will be awaken soon enough" he said comfortingly. You gave him a small smile. "Thank you, I appreciate it." you thanked him. "Well, I have to get going, I'll see you around then." He said kindly and left. You watched him leave, You did not take your eyes off him, until he had disappeared. You couldn't explain why you were getting all kinds of feeling towards the boy, you've only met him today, maybe it was you being nervous or part of your side effects, but you had a feeling that you'll be seen him more often.

Sneak peek: Syawn ch7
