Sneak peek: Syawn ch7
“Come now you three, we practiced before” syawn kindly tells her children. Neteyam and syawn gently push forward the three in front of them. There were slight whimpers of protest but among the three, one of them stood in front of the other two. As a cute way of protecting them. “A brave one you are '' the olo’eykte compliments.
The one that protects the other two, was focusing on her head piece. A gasp of realization, the triplet pointed at Ikeynis face.
“SLINGER!”
She blinked twice, confusion was written on her face.
“SLINGER! SLINGER!”
The child repeats. And the other two followed.

· · ─────── · 𖥸 · ─────── · ·
The first time the Sullys visited the Tayrangi clan, you were suspicious. You weren’t a big fan of Toruk Makto, there were rumors about him, rumors that you didn’t like him and that you were looking down on the Omatikaya family. Unlike your mother, the Olo'eykte Ikeyni, one of the few women to be clan leaders and Tsahik at the same time, you did not believe that you should be on the side of a man from another world. It also bothered you that the Sullys left their eldest son to be trained by your father, who, ironically, loved to teach young people the art of hunting.
You rolled your eyes as the girls of your clan looked at the son of Toruk Makto as if he were a living legend, a god among Na'vi, to you he was simply a na'vi with demon blood. You still remembered how your clan had offered shelter to the fleeing or homeless na'vi because of the war brought above all by the father of that Omatikayan. You growled slightly as the boy walked over to you, then turned around and walked away from him, taking a seat next to your parents, checking out the Sullys.
"My daughter. The future Olo'eykte of the Tayrangi Clan and healer of the village. She will be the guide of your son Neteyam, showing him the arts of this clan and our way." Your mother’s words stabbed you in the back, and you looked at her like it might change her mind, which it didn’t. You looked at your father, Tsentey, who, though he looked back, made you think he agreed with your mother.
You took a deep breath and walked away, trying to stay calm. You hated the idea of being the leader of that half-demon, but you couldn’t help but disobeying would put you in a position where the clan would look down on you and in Eywa’s eyes you would be undeserving to be Olo'eykte.
When evening came, your parents returned to your house and looked at you slightly disappointed.
"Ma 'ite… I know it's not something that brings joy to your heart, but it is your duty as next Olo'eykte" said your father, placing a hand on your shoulder, smiling gently, while your mother looked hard at you.
"There is no time for whims. This is the will of Eywa. An Olo'eykte is already weaker than an Olo'eyktan man. If you do not help the future Olo'eyktan of Omatikaya, someone else will and you will be just a Na'vi with a lower title" Your mother said, approaching you. " Ma 'ite. You are strong. You can do it and when the day comes, you will lead this clan, show them who you are" continued and then lifted your face from your chin. "You're a warrior. Remember who you are y/n te Skxumew Ikeyni'ite. You'll be the second Olo'eykte of all Pandora and everyone will know your name. More than Toruk Makto. But you have to make sacrifices, put pride aside. You have a goal Ma Oare" Your mother put her forehead on yours and you both closed your eyes, then nodded.
"I will." You said with conviction to see your mother smile, she was right. This was just one of the trials to reach your place in the clan.
The night passed quickly and the next day you were ready to face that demon blood, you just had to train him and then after a few months send him back to his house, to the Omatikaya. Your mother encouraged you when she saw you awake as you walked past the tree house, then headed to where Neteyam was staying, finding him already outside.
"Follow me." You hissed, then walked through the village to get out and into the woods. " What weapon can you use?" You continued without turning around to see where Neteyam was.
"Knives and Bows." He replied by keeping the pace "However I am-"
You stopped him, you stopped yourself, and then you turned around and looked him in the eye.
"I know who you are. Neteyam te Suli Tsyeyk'itan" You said to then observe it. " Bows and knives? Your arms are weak" You said approaching him, touching his arm. " Your chest tight, but you have a good posture." The boy watched you turn around and talk about him. "Do you have an Ikran?" You look him in the eye when you talk to him.
"Yes, I have one." His voice was still, as if the words you used didn’t hurt him at all.
"Can you swim?"
"Pretty good" Neteyam looked at you enchanted, smiling slightly
"Tsk. You’re like a parultsyìp. I have to teach you everything." You said sighing and then continued walking until you got to the cliff that provided a wonderful view of the sea.
"The Tayrangi clan is famous for being skilled riders of Ikran, the best. We interpret the wind, understand the sea and respect the great predators and the Ikran. You have to learn to fight with more weapons, to swim, to understand the wind and the animals that surround us" You said and then sit on the cliff, breathing in the fresh air.
"I’m here for this… what’s your name?" Neteyam’s voice was sweet as he sat next to you.
"You’re not here to make friends or get to know me. Call me Karyu." Your detached and disinterested voice made Neteyam smile, who already found you interesting.
"Karyu? So you won’t tell me your name?" he said, slightly laughing.
"Not relevant for training. Now silence. Listen to the wind"
That day you taught Neteyam the basics of understanding the wind, explaining in detail how to use this to fly better, to understand when it will start to rain or other natural events. The boy, different from what you thought, listened to you interested, asking questions and coming to understand what you were explaining. You couldn’t deny it.
"For today we are finished, tomorrow we will start with the proper guidance of the Ikran, the Omatikaya use strange methods to approach the banshees" You said, Going from the cliff and stretching you.
"Did I do well?" he asked curiously, as he stood up.
"Discreetly, you are not completely Skxawng." You shrugged, indifferent. " These are things that our children learn after a week. Half a day is something"
"Something? Does that mean I can now know your name?"
"No. Why do you care so much?" your voice was sore.
"Just curiosity" Neteyam smiled and approached you
"Hmm… if you can get back to the village before the eclipse, I’ll tell you my name. Good luck" You said, and then you went into the forest, going home alone, about an hour before the eclipse, it was impossible for her to return in time, not knowing the way back. You prayed that a Palulukan would tear him to pieces, not to have him back but you could not wish this on a son of Eywa, after all even a Palulukan deserved a better meal.
Some of your companions gathered to wait for Neteyam after hearing about that little challenge, you smiled satisfied when the eclipse came and Neteyam was not back yet. " What if he’s dead?" " Maybe he found a Palulukan." "Or he got lost" Voices like this filled the air, you shrugged and turned to leave. At that moment you heard the girls cheering and shouting the name of Neteyam happy, seeing him unharmed.
You turned and looked him in the eye, after all he still lost the challenge, so the victory belonged to you. Neteyam came up with a flower.
"There’s already been an eclipse. You lost, so I don't-" You stopped when Neteyam put the flower behind your ear, smiling at seeing you with it in your hair.
"I would have won, but I saw this Sun Lily and it reminded me of your eyes, so I looked for the most beautiful, wasting time" He said smiling, shrugging. " I’ll discover your name one day, ma Karyu"
You observed him without saying anything, you did not expect such a thing. He had preferred to lose the challenge to pick a flower to give you and did not seem upset by this, indeed, he smiled carelessly. You did not understand at that moment why your heart accelerated the beat, or why you did not immediately remove the flower, or why now you looked at it without disgust or repugnance. You recovered from your thoughts when you heard some girls being jealous of you for that little gesture made by Prince Omatikaya. You clenched your jaw and looked at him.
"You still lost." you said with the little coolness you had left.
"I did, but does it matter?" He replied promptly, and then continued, "It was worth it, the flower suits you very well."
You bit the inside of your cheek and then you turned around and left "See you tomorrow." You said dryly before saying goodbye and going home.
"She’s beautiful, isn’t she?" Neteyam said to some of the clan’s boys.
"Bro, shs's the type of na'vi who eats you alive." one of the guys laughed.
"I know, and I like it." Neteyam concluded
You reported to your mother and she immediately noticed the flower in your hair.
"It’s very nice, where did you get it?" she asked, placing the flower in your hair.
"Just a stupid gift." You confessed before you took it off and left it in your mother’s hand, going to a more secluded place on one of the tree branches.
"skxawng. just a vrrtep skxawng." You said to yourself while leaning your body against the tree. " Ma Eywa, please, Great mother, make sure he learns quickly and walks away." You asked as you watched the starry sky. " Give me a sign to bear him, because he’s a vrrtep," you said before you heard a woodsprite landing on the same ear where Neteyam’s flower used to be and then seeing it not far under the tree where you were sitting. You felt mocked, Eywa today was having fun putting everything against you, otherwise you won’t explain these coincidences.
The coup de grâce came when the branch broke, dropping you into Neteyam’s arms. If you could confirm that, Eywa was trying to make you do all these things. You sighed annoyed, crossing your arms when Neteyam looked at you to see if you were okay.
"Are you hurt? Is everything okay?" he asked concerned, checking you and clutching you accidentally.
"You can let me go. I’m fine." You answered a little sour.
"A thank you is welcome, Princess Tayrangi," Neteyam laughed, and then left you standing on the ground, watching you.
"Irayo…" you whispered quietly, turning your head to the side
"I don’t understand, can you repeat?" he said smiling
"what a skxawng…" you whispered softly. " I said Irayo." This time you said fast
"I still don’t understand, I really think you’ll have to repeat it," Neteyam laughed a little.
"Are you- Irayo." You said it out loud so he’d get it in his head, and then he’d snort right after.
"You are even more beautiful when you get angry, you know?" he said spontaneously, leaning against the tree, admiring your beauty.
You swirled your eyes, restraining yourself from splitting his nasal septum or something, but for the umpteenth time Eywa sent a signal, a woodsprite on Neteyam’s shoulder. You looked up and laughed frustrated.
"Listen carefully, I don’t know why my path is intertwined with yours. I don’t want to put up with you any more than I have to. This means that if you see me falling from a tree, let me fall, if you find flowers that remind you of me, leave them where they are, if you see me for the village avoid me" You said pointing your finger at Neteyam’s chest. "The only thing keeping me from completely avoiding you is my title and my parents. You’d be meal for Palulukan if it were up to me."
Neteyam opened his mouth to speak but you stopped him. "Don’t answer, it’s already decided. Learn quickly, I want you out of this village and away from me or my people. I don’t know why my parents sympathize with your family, but I don’t agree with them. Now, if you understand that you have to stay as far away from me as possible, nod."
The boy nodded, smiling amused, watching you get nervous.
"Good. See you tomorrow Neteyam." You said saying goodbye a second time to go home.
At that moment, all you wanted was for Neteyam to disappear, him and his manners, and take away that beautiful smile and those golden eyes. Fuck, no. You don’t have to think about it. You hate him, you hate his family, you must hate him… Do you hate him?

Tsahìk of the Eastern Sea Neteyam Sully x fem!Tayrangi!Na'vi! reader
masterlist~
warnings~ characters aged up to 18-20s, please lmk if i missed any!
wordcount~ 3.5k+
summary~ You are the Tsahìk of the Tayrangi Clan of the Eastern Sea, the younger sister of Ikeyni the Olo'eyktan, and lose your way home, leaving you to stay with the Omatikaya Clan while you recover.
also i haven't seen the movie in a while so my memory is a bit fuzzy when it comes to some certain plot lines, so i'm sorry if they're not 100% accurate! that or i might change up some scenes to fit for this fic.
Tompìva = raindrop = your Ikran's name
te Tsyuäval Ìe'ite = your Na'vi last name
requests are open!
italic dialogue is in na'vi!
sorry i suck at summaries!
You felt the wind whip through your hair as you landed, quickly dismounting your Ikran. Your hair whipped around your face as you greeted your older sister Ikeyni, her face now painted red and white with fresh paint.
"Oel ngati kameie tsmuke," you say as she looks you over for injuries.
You feel her hand on your shoulder as she guides you away from the prying eyes of the others, curious as to what new herbs and other healing items you would bring them.
You flinch as you sit down on your mat, your sister inspecting the deep gash on your forearm. She hisses in annoyance at you, "You were told not to leave. You are the Tsakarem, future Tsahìk of our Clan. What would I do if you had-"
You cut her off as she finished rubbing herbs into your wound, "And I am fine. You don't have to worry about me! I've already had my Iknimaya, I am an adult. I can take care of myself!"
You cross your arms and turn away from her, and you feel her hand land on your shoulder.
"I only worry for you," she says as her hand leaves your shoulder, "Every other day you leave, disregarding your lessons and teachings."
Your lips twist into a frown as you turn to face her, and you open your mouth to speak but she cuts you off, taking a deep breath before she speaks, "I forbid you from leaving. No more trips to the forest, and no flying. You will focus on your lessons and become our Tsahìk."
You gasp as she turns to leave, "You cannot force me to stay here!"
You follow her outside grasping her arm, pleading with her to let you stay.
"All of the herbs and medicines needed for your teachings can be found here. There is no need for you to leave. That is final."
You watch her back as she walks away, her attention now on Nan'ti and Tsentey. You glare at her and storm to the beach, letting the warm waves lap at your feet as you rest your head on your knees.
🌊 🌊 🌊
Your fingers twist the twine of the basket, tying it into a knot, then set it aside. Rubbing your temples, you stand and stretch watching the others dive with their Ikran into the sea.
Hands land on your shoulder and you jump, falling back into the sand.
"Are you okay?" a voice asks, holding out their hand as the laughter continues.
You gratefully accept it and dust off the sand clinging to your skin and clothes, "Thank you Aya."
She gives you a small smile and grabs the now finished basket from the ground, walking to the edge of the trees.
"So... I heard you were grounded from flying, and you can't even step foot into the forest without someone else," Peyzua crosses her arms behind her back as you trail behind them, the sand turning to dirt underneath your feet as you walk.
Grumbling you snatch the basket she's carrying, "It is true. But she doesn't understand!"
Aya unsheathes her knife and cuts off a few strips of bark from a nearby tree, shaking her head, "Ikeyni only worries for you. You are the next Tsahìk. Which means you must focus on your learning, and not fly off into the forest on a whim."
You rip out a few plants from the ground and shove them into your basket, Peyzua turns to you, nodding in agreement with her sister, "Aya is right, and so is Ikeyni. You don't want them to pick another Tsahìk, do you?"
You frown, and shake your head, "Of course not, I just feel so, trapped here! And I'm never gone too long," but you know that's a lie.
You went out so often, it was a wonder that your sister didn't pick a different candidate to become Tsahìk, but when you asked, she reminded you that Eywa had willed it to be so.
Aya places a hand on your shoulder, her eyes full of sympathy, "Just listen to her, and finish your teachings. I'm sure she'll be more lenient when you finish your Tsakarem teachings and become Tsahìk."
Signing you give her a weak smile, "Maybe."
🌊 🌊 🌊
With a quick wave, you give Aya and Peyzua a smile and head off back to your room, the sand now cool beneath your feet. You're almost halfway there when you hear hushed voices coming from your sister's home. Your ears perk up in curiosity when you hear your name, and you tiptoe closer, careful not to make too much sound when you gasp.
Ikeyni stands with her hands on her hips, her red and white paint now fully washed away, revealing her dark blue skin and white freckles. Her tail flits around in annoyance as she turns to Tsentey, and a man whose face you can't quite see.
The man's voice is low as he speaks, "What do you think?"
You frown when you realize you can't recognize the language he's speaking, but continue to listen, "I do not wish for the sky people to encroach any further," she pauses, her face twisted in contemplation.
Clearing her throat, she continues, "I will send five warriors with their Ikran, but that is all."
The man sounds grateful as he responds, "Thank you, again. I'll send word again when we depart."
You feel your heart drop when you feel someone's eyes on you, and spin around spotting a boy around your age leaning against the hut across from Ikeyni's.
"Eavesdropping?" a small smile graces his lips before he takes a step toward you.
Crossing your arms you frown at him, realizing he is speaking the same language the man had been speaking earlier. "What?"
His eyes fill with confusion as he asks again in the same strange language, but you shake your head.
"You don't speak English?"
This time he asks it in Na'vi and you sigh, "No, what-"
The sound of your sister hissing in annoyance cuts you off, and she stands between you, "What are you doing up? Go to bed," she says as steers you to your room.
But the man turns to her and raises a brow, "Who's this?"
She sighs before turning to him, "My sister, our Tsakarem," she points to him, "This is Jake Sully, Toruk Makto, Olo'eyktan of the Omatikaya, sister."
The boy clears his throat, and his eyes meet yours and you can see a blush creeping up his face before Jake speaks, "This is my oldest son, Neteyam."
You give a small nod in greeting and twist a strand of your hair around your fingers.
Ikeyni gently pushes you in the direction of your hut and wishes you a goodnight.
You almost collapse when you reach your bed, your head swimming with thoughts of the conversation and questions you would be bombarding your sister with the coming morning.
But for now, you close your eyes and let the sound of the waves splashing against the sand drift you into a deep slumber.
🌊 🌊 🌊
Neteyam quickly dismounts his Ikran following his father into their hut, where his mother greets them, "What was their reply?"
She puts down the arrow she was holding and gives them both a quick hug, checking for any sign of injuries.
"They'll send five, not a lot, but it'll help," he replies before sitting in front of the fire.
Neteyam takes a seat across from his father and removes his visor, setting it to the side, "Who was that again?"
Jake looks at him in confusion, "Who?"
"The girl with the Olo'eyktan," he pauses trying to remember what was said about you, "the Tsakarem?"
Jake sighs before answering, "- te Tsyuäval Ìe'ite. She's the younger sister of the Olo'eyktan Ikeyni."
Neteyam bites his lip in thought, "Will she be coming too?"
Jake shakes his head, "Of course not."
Neteyam nods and lies down, closing his eyes, his head swimming with questions about you.
The next morning Neteyam wakes earlier than usual, carefully tiptoeing out of the hut to sit down near the lab, waiting for the others to wake up.
It's almost an hour before he sees Spider come out of the lab, and hears Lo'ak and Kiri behind him.
"Why are you up so early?" Kiri asks before he stands.
"I couldn't sleep well," he shrugs his shoulders before crossing his arms.
"Was it because of yesterday?" Spider asks, his voice full of curiosity.
"You went with dad to the Eastern Sea right?" asks Kiri as they walk to the Ikran.
Her tail swings back and forth and her mouth breaks into an excited smile, "What was it like?"
He chuckles when he thinks back to catching you eavesdropping on the conversation, a blush creeping up his neck, "It was nice, there was lots of sand, and the ocean looked like it went on forever."
"Are you blushing?" Lo'ak shouts as Neteyam turns his head away in embarrassment.
"No, now are you coming or not?" he quickly mounts his Ikran and takes off, the others calling for him to wait up.
🌊 🌊 🌊
Your face scrunches up in an attempt to hide the disgust when you look down at the basket before you. Hearing a chuckle you glance up to see Aosìng smiling at you, "I caught too many, so I thought you might want some."
You gently take the basket of fish from him, and give him a tight smile, "Thank you Aosìng, you really shouldn't have," he smiles again, his eyes landing on your lips before you shift your own away.
The wind ruffles your hair before you even feel it, a featherlight kiss, and your face crinkles in displeasure, "Anything for my future mate," he whispers before turning and running back down the beach.
You groan when you feel Peyzua's arms wrap around you and her muffled laughter as she buries her face in your neck.
"Get off, Zua!" you exclaim before pushing her away, rubbing your mouth against the back of your hand in hopes of burning the kiss away.
"So, Aosìng still likes you then? Even after last time?" she teases as she ruffles your hair.
Aya sighs in disappointment before crossing her arms, "Don't listen to her," she rubs your shoulder gently as you fix your hair.
"Another reason I have to leave," you mutter as you follow them past the other huts and grab your baskets.
Peyzua nudges you in the ribs, "Hey! It could be worse," she says as she starts grabbing herbs and loading them into her basket.
"The only reason he "likes" me is because he is Ikeyni's successor. The future Olo'eyktan, as I am the future Tsahìk."
Your knife digs into the tree before you hear someone shouting, and as they come closer you can hear the shouting your name.
"Tsakarem! The Olo'eyktan requests your presence at once."
Your lips twist into a frown and you grumble, shoving your basket at Peyzua, following the man back to the village.
Ikeyni stands at the entrance of her hut, her body now covered in fresh red and white paint as she looks down at you. You greet her and your hands clench nervously.
"You called for me?" you ask, as she gestures for you to come inside.
She takes a deep breath before turning to you, her expression unreadable before she places a hand on your shoulder, "How goes your training?"
You freeze, eyes falling to the floor. You hadn't exactly done much other than gather more herbs and tend to wounds from the fishermen, so next to zero progress had been made.
Gulping nervously you reply, "It is going well, sister," a small smile spreads on her lips as her hand falls to her side.
You shift nervously before your mouth opens and closes, thinking of how to word your question before asking, "Why was the Olo'eyktan of the Omatikaya here yesterday? And with his son too," you trail off.
She takes a deep breath, her eyes closing briefly before opening again, "I will be leaving in three days' time, to help the Omatikaya Olo'eyktan, and people."
You bite back a gasp of shock as she continues, "You will of course stay here," she pauses her eyes falling to the floor, "And I will have Aosìng join me."
You flinch at the sound of his name and cross your arms, "So, when will you return then?"
"It should not take too long, a day or two."
She turns away from you and grabs something off her table. A cool sensation wraps around your neck as she attaches a purple beaded necklace.
Leaning back she smiles, "It suits you. It was Mother's."
Smiling you thank her, "Thank you. Is there anything you need me to prepare for tomorrow?"
"No, but Nan'ti will be watching over you while I am away."
You shiver, remembering the last time she had 'watched' over you, "More like breathing down my neck," you mutter.
"What was that?"
"N-nothing!"
You rub your neck nervously before you remember your questions from last night, "What language were they speaking?"
"Who?" she asks, her voice tense as she grabs her bow and quiver of arrows.
"The Olo'eyktan and his son, what was his name again?"
You bite your lip in thought before she answers, "There are some differences between the Omatikaya's speaking and ours. So that is why you did not understand them."
You nod slowly, that did make some sense. In all your visits to the forest, you had never actually gone far enough to run into any of the Omatikaya people, so that had to be the case.
She puts her hand on your shoulder empathetically, her eyes unreadable before she speaks, "When I return, we will speak about flying and your lessons."
Her hand leaves your shoulder as she joins Tsentey, leaving you alone in the entrance of the hut.
🌊 🌊 🌊
You can already hear the lecture coming from your sister as you soar through the sky on your Ikran. Hopefully, she won't be too upset, you think to yourself as you land and dismount from your Ikran. This was your last chance at visiting the forest, seeing as you would be with left with Nan'ti while your sister helped the Omatikaya people, you wanted to make the best of it. You pat her neck gently before sending her off and continue into the forest.
Although your sister had said you could find all the herbs you needed back home, you disagreed. For example, you found that the bark deeper in the forest would heal certain wounds and injuries faster than the bark used from the trees at home. But of course, that didn't matter to Ikeyni, she still refused to let you leave. You had always wondered why, but the only answer she gave you was how dangerous it could be, because of the sky people. But you had yet to see a single one on your trips out.
"They must not have got this far yet," you whisper to yourself as you hear the sound of a twig snap.
You glanced around but saw nothing, so you continued walking, assuming it was a harmless animal. Sheathing your knife you began to walk faster, hearing strange whispers from the trees, and the snapping of branches growing ever closer.
You had almost made it over a log before you heard a voice behind you. Your ears twitch nervously as you unsheathe your knife again, suddenly wishing you had brought your bow as you take a defensive stance against the trees.
Holding your knife against your chest, you looked around the trees, your breath catching when you notice a pair of eyes behind a leaf. Slowing your breathing and you make a run toward the leaves.
You tackle the person who had been hiding behind the leaves and hold your knife against their throat, your hands shaking. Feeling sweat drip down your face, you try to remember Nan'ti's teachings on hand-to-hand combat. But then you feel something sharp against your neck.
"Let him go," a familiar. voice grits out from right behind your ear. You glare at the person pinned beneath your knife, but reluctantly toss it to the side.
You feel hands on your shoulders pulling you to your feet and the blade leaves your neck.
"Who are you?" a voice asks and you turn to see a boy just around your age standing with his knife held in front of him defensively.
Looking up at him you realize where you know him from, "Toruk Makto's son?" you question before you see recognition in his eyes.
"Tsakarem?" he asks before sheathing his knife.
Nodding you retrieve your knife and sheath it and stumble through an apology, "I am so sorry. I am not used to seeing people around when I come to gather my herbs, I must have come too far in."
Shaking his head you see the hint of a smile on his lips when the other boy interrupts, "Who is she?"
Neteyam sighs before answering, "The Tsakarem of the Tayrangi Clan."
Tilting your head in confusion you mutter, "I didn't know the Omatikaya dialect was so different."
Neteyam returns the look of confusion when he responds, "You mean English?"
Shaking your head you frown, what was English? Another Na'vi language you were unfamiliar with?
"Sorry, I'm afraid I don't know what language that is. I have never interacted with people from another clan before, so," you trail off as the two exchange glances.
"It's okay," says Neteyam quickly.
"Oh, and this is my brother, Lo'ak," he says before gesturing to the boy next to him.
You hear more branches rustle, and whispers before three more people emerge from the trees. Your hand instinctively grabs the end of your knife but you feel a hand on yours, stopping you from unsheathing it.
Looking down you see that it's Neteyam's, "It's okay, those are my sisters," he gestures to the two girls whose stares are full of curiosity, "Kiri and Tuk."
You give them a small smile before your eyes land on the third figure and flinch, taking a step back. You nearly trip over a log, but Neteyam grabs your arm and pulls you to your feet, "A sky person?" you whisper, voice full of fear as you hide behind Neteyam.
Neteyam feels his face heat up as your hands land on his shoulder, using him as a shield against Spider.
Lo'ak laughs when he realizes that you're scared of Spider, "You're scared of him?"
Neteyam smacks him before grabbing your hands and taking them off of his shoulders, "It's okay, it's just Spider. He's a friend," he reassures you before pushing you in front of him.
You feel your anxiety worsen as the older of the two girls approach, "Hi, I'm Kiri," she says as she sits down on the log facing you.
"You're not Omatikaya, are you?" she asks when she notices the confused expression on your face.
You shake your head, "No, I am the Tsakarem of the Tayrangi Clan. I am here to gather herbs," you push your hair away from your face, feeling a blush creeping up your face as she leans in closer.
"Where's that?" a second voice asks.
You look past Kiri to see a girl, who must be Tuk standing next to Neteyam, her eyes full of curiosity as she stares at you.
"It's on the Eastern Sea," you say quietly, eyes glancing up at the sky, which was once a bright blue, but is now a dark grey.
"Really? What's it like?" Kiri asks as you feel a raindrop land on your face.
Instead of answering her question, you decide to call for your Ikran, watching as she soars through the trees and lands in front of you, you coo at her, "Tam tam, Tompìva."
You hear the others look on as you pat her neck, smiling sadly as you turn to Neteyam, "It was nice to see you again, son of Toruk Makto, but I must leave, a storm is coming, and I do not wish to be stuck in it."
Neteyam frowns, he had only just met you but wished you could stay just a bit longer.
"Travel safe," Kiri says before turning to walk back into the trees, Tuk, Spider, and Lo'ak following her.
Feeling the rain pick up you turn to Neteyam and give him a small smile, sad that you were leaving so soon.
He opens his mouth to wish you a safe trip home but pauses, wondering if he'd ever get the chance to see you again he quickly tears off a feather from an arrow in his quiver handing it to you, "In case we meet again."
You smile before tucking it away in your bag, "Thank you Neteyam," you quickly mount your Ikran and take off, leaving Neteyam standing in the rain, heat rising up his face.
🌊 🌊 🌊
Pushing back your visor you dismount your Ikran, when you feel a presence behind you. Turning around you come face to face with your sister, her skin still covered in the red and white paint. Her eyes are full of anger and disappointment as she stares at you.
"You disobeyed my direct orders," her hands are clenched at her sides as she sighs, her eyes falling to the ground.
"I-I'm sorry, I just-"
"Just what?" she exclaims.
Her voice rises and you can see people sticking their heads out of the entrance to their homes, looking on in confusion.
"You have a duty to our people, as our Tsahìk, Eywa has willed it!"
Her face scrunches in anger, and her teeth are bared as she continues to berate you for not fulfilling your duties as Tsakarem. You feel your face heat up in anger and shout out, "I do not care if Eywa has willed it or not," you pause and bite your lip nervously before continuing, "And it is impossible to become Tsahìk if there is no teacher!"
You could hear the gasps coming from the homes surrounding you and took a step back towards your Ikran as Ikeyni's hands clenched into fists, "Eywa is your teacher, let her guide you."
Her voice was soft now, and she approached you as if cornering a wild animal. It was then that you heard another voice.
"Listen to her, ma tìyawn," Aosìng says before reaching out to you.
Slapping his hand away you mount your Ikran and take off, hearing your sister's anger filled voice as you fly through the sky.

Tw: Death to child birth, past angst, reader isn’t very bright at first, age gap (Jake is 36 and reader is 22)
Author’s note: I made Jake widowed for the fic to make sense, I hope this was to your liking :)
Masterlist
Jake had lost his Mate due to child birth, Neytiri was having a hard time delivering their last child Tuk. This birth was harder than the other times before, their was complications and their was only a chance that one would live. Jake had asked for Neytiri to be saved if anything, but Neytiri had chosen for Tuk to be the one to live. In the end, Tuk was the one that had been saved instead Neytiri. Her finals words to her mate was that loved him and their children, then passed on to Eywa. The children were divested by the lose of their mother and Jake had lost his mate. Their was no one to blame, this was natural death that most newly or experience mothers suffer.
During the funeral on his mate, Jake held onto his new born child Tuk. He promised himself that he will love and cherish his children just as his mate did. Tuk was not to blame for this, no one was to blame but Eywa. No one knew why she did the things she did.
Time has passed, Jake was still grieving over his loss, he did not show it but his children knew better. They were also mourning the loss of their mother, but they knew that she would have not want them to be sad all the time. That night their was a ceremony and guests from another clan were coming over, so they had to attended the ceremony. Jake did not have the energy to go, but since he is to be the next reader, he had too.
The ceremony had began and the guests had arrived, they had been greeted by the clan as they stepped in. Jake wasn’t paying much attention until he spotted you. He did not stop staring at you as you had walked in with your parents, you were between Ikeyni and Tsentey. Who would of thought the most scary looking leader’s would create such beauty of a daughter. For sure you’d be their clan’s next Olo'eykte.
During the whole ceremony, Jake did not stop looking at you like at all. his whole attention was on you. He noticed how nice you were to everyone, he thought you’d be like your mother or father but you were the complete opposite. Even though you had the same intimating white and red body paint with the bone headpiece. You honestly looked more angelic then scary, as if you were a gift from Eywa.
You had been dancing with the other Na’vi, until you notice toruk makto looking at you. So you decided to pull him for a dance, so you went over to him and got a hold of his hands. “Come dance with me” you said with a smile, while Jake tried to refuse “no no it’s fine” he insisted but you weren’t having it, you then pulled him all the way to were the other na’vi’s were to dance. The whole dance you did not take your eyes off him and neither did him with you.
After that night, Jake could not stop thinking of you, he then had asked your parents permission to court you, which they allowed. So he had began to see you more, you’d also had come to the Omaticaya village to see Jake, you had met his children who were just the sweetest kids you’ve ever met. You have been around children but just loved to meet people. As the time had passed he began to grow feelings towards you, like you did with him. You and Jake had got closer to the point that he had asked if you’d considered mating with him.
You accepted since he’d be your first ever mate, so again Jake went to your parents to get their blessing in allow you both to mate. Both Ikeyni and Tsentey had no issue in letting you mate with Jake, so again they allowed this to happen, but their was one thing you had to take into consideration. His children will and always have mother, and you would never replace that mother hey had. You accepted this since you already knew about the lose of Jake’s first mate. So before you and Jake could mate, it would be best to talk to the children about your relationship. The children understood the situation and they had no problem having you around since you were nice t them, so you technically got their blessings. So then you and Jake finally mated before Eywa.
At first your parents weren’t sure if they wanted you to leave, since you were their only child and not mention princess. You had promised that you’d come to visit them. When you had arrived to the hut you were greeted by the family who had been waiting for you to arrive. You had brought some of things with you, but their was two many things you had brought. Some na’vi had come with you to carry some of your things. Jake then talked to you about just having a few things here and the rest back home so when you went to visit, your stuff would be their. You agreed then send the Na’vi away back to home with your remaining things.
That was when Jake began to see more of you, you weren’t good with some domestic things. Such as cooking, hunting, or keeping the house in order. Turns out that you were basically pampered your whole life, both Ikeyni and Tsentey basically did everything for you. You were practically royalty. You may not have been good in those things, but you were great with the children. Most of your time you’d spend them playing with them all day until they got tired or hungry. You fed them fruit, but they needed more then just fruit.
So Jake had began to teach you how to use a bow and arrow, at first you didn’t want to since you didn’t find the point of it, until Jake explained how it is to hunt for food, so you began to learn. It was a bit hard at first but then you got the hang of it. When you’d manage to catch something, you’d get very happy seen that you did it. Next thing to teach you was cooking, you had seen your mother cook before so you knew a bit but just never did it yourself. So when Jake had began to teach you, it was tricky since you’d sometimes burn your finger. It was like teaching a child at first but you managed. You got the hang of things, you began hunting and cooking on your own, to you it was fun to do since you were doing new things. It made you happy seeing that you were able to do things for your mate and the kids.
As the kids began to grow up, they had loved you like a parents, it was as if Eywa had sent them a mother, it’s true that you will never replace Neytiri, but they loved you as much as she did. You were always their for them, specially when they had began to go into teens, you knew that they were at an age where they needed guidance. You were very affectionate towards them, you never picked favorites since you just loved all of them equally. You never did favorites of any kind, it didn’t matter if one was more skilled then the other, you loved them all as if they were your own children.
At the beginning you’d be referred to by your name, but eventually they began to call you Mom. It was Tuk who had started to call you mom since she saw you as such, that night you had cried while telling Jake about Tuk calling you mom. Since then all the kids began to also call you mom. That made you even more happy knowing that they saw you as a mother, you knew that you will never replace their first mother, but you knew that the kids saw you as such.

Aftermath
Read chapter 2 here -> expedition
A/N -> This is the first time I'm actually publishing my writing because this stupid blue dude got me fucked up.
Summary -> Your actions during the Human-Na’vi war lead to your exile from your clan and you’re forced to connect with a certain Olo’eyktan.
Pairing -> Jake Sully X Reader
Word count -> 3.6k
The battlefield raged below you, Na’vi and humans assault each other with their varied weapons. Explosions boomed in the distance, and leaves above your head rattled violently in the wind produced by the sky people aircrafts.
“This is what Tayrangi has trained for…the greatest battle of your life is fast approaching,” Ikeyni whispered to you, hiding behind the trunk of a tree not even fifty metres from the battlefield. She broke from her sentence to shoot an arrow with a speed you had only seen a handful of times. You took in her form as she leaned against the trunk again, pure precision as she calculated when to strike and when to duck behind the tree.
“I’m proud to be one with the clan, give me your orders and I will follow them.” You reassured.
A Samson aircraft approaches, your ears prick up before they can get the jump on you. Your crossbow at the ready, wood biting into your palms, and the arrow laced with poison embedded itself in the chest of the pilot. Which would kill him regardless of its landing.
Ikeyni’s painted eyes narrowed on you, “You know the terrain, any week and strong points, I have new orders for you,” She said decisively. You’ve shot another arrow before she can finish her sentence. Fire and smoke consumed the forest behind you, the neons looked significantly duller.
“I need you at the tree of souls, I have received word that the Omatikaya are gathered there to pray to Eywa. I need your word that you will protect the new Olo’eyktan, Tsu’tey. As Tayrangi is sister to the Omatikaya, you must defend them.” Her sharp eyes held yours, you felt yourself shrink but covered it up. Regardless of your time spent with the Tayrangi and training under Ikeyni, you hadn’t grown accustomed to the ruthless and levelheaded woman.
A bow of your head is the only confirmation she needed before you stood from your squat and clicked your tongue before letting out a loud chirp. Your Ikran, Ta’ra swooped into view her teal and pink wings flapped lightly next to the tree. You leapt onto the stretched skin of her wing and climbed onto the saddle situated on her mid-back. You took a steep dive into the forest, away from the gunfire, toward the masses of people gathered under the tree of souls, slowing for the familiar man to mount your Ikran behind you before banking to the left. Two arrows were shot from behind you, and landed neatly in the skulls of the humans below. You made multiple rounds of the battlefield, killing the attackers in herds but still didn’t see a mass improvement.
The two of you were closer than ever to the human base known as ‘Hell’s Gate.’ Both of you worked to disable as much of the giant machinery parked on the runway, which no doubt awaited orders to join the assault on your people. Your barrage ended as you landed on a thick branch in view of the base. Fires started in each compound, You watched as humans came running out into the hanger. They didn’t let up the assault, bullets whizzed past your ears and embedded into the bark of the tree. A bullet implanted itself between Tsu’tey’s ear and the trunk of the tree, Your ears pinned back against your skull as you heard chatter over the static-y radio, hoping to pick up any information before they were able to use it to their advantage.
“Eyes in the sky, be on the lookout, he’s got red beaded hair, riding on an Ikran.” Your heart skipped a beat out of nervousness as you realised Tsu’tey was being targeted due to his status as Olo’eyktan.
An assault of bullets flew in your direction as your Ikran made her way to the other side of the base, your rounded eyes took in the scene before you. War raged on both sides of the conflict, bodies dropped left and right. A hole was blown in the middle of the building on the base, not a person left in the facility other than a small bundle left in a cradle, parked in the centre of the room. A barrage of bullets aimed your way missed the three of you by a hair, you let out a gasp at the bundle laying in the crib.
You circled the building once more, watching the fire slowly spread from the edges of the building. Your heart shattered for the abandoned child, your strong ears heard its cries calling out. Ta’ra landed roughly in a clearing in view of the base, your woven armor took the brunt of the gunfire. You saw the machinery gaining ground and slaughtering your people, you felt the pain of your people but it didn't distract from the image of the crying child, alone with flames slowly consuming them.
Tsu’tey must have felt your emotions radiating off you as he cleared his throat. “Leave me, rescue the child and keep it away from harm.” He stated, with no room for argument, it didn’t stop you from trying.
“No, I am under strict orders to escort you, to not leave your side, and there is no way from my Ikran to get in there.” You couldn’t meet his eyes as you contemplated what he had said.
“The Dreamwalkers have taught me the human ways, similar to the Na’vi way. They say life is sacred, especially the innocent, especially children.” His voice rumbled from behind you, a disapproving stare heated the back of your head. You knew you wanted to retrieve the child and it’s what you thought was moral.
You let out a sigh as you contemplated what you were about to do. Your gut had two instincts; One that you should go after the child, and Two that you shouldn’t leave Tsu’tey.
Ta’ra perched once again on a branch, you and Tsu’tey were quick to dismount, sharing a final raw look as you both gestured to each other.
"Oel ngati kameie.” I see you
You ducked under low-hanging branches that had fallen during the battle and climbed over debris before you arrived at the building that was going up in flames, smoke rose into the sky as an impending warning, which almost dissuaded you from going inside. Nonetheless, you scaled the scrap metal along the side of the building, avoiding the exposed wires as they sparked and fizzled every few seconds.
Your form casted a shadow on the weeping child as you leaned over the edge of the crater blown in the roof. The child cried and whined out for anyone to protect them, the thought of the scientists and military deserting the helpless baby was a haunting image.
You gathered the small bundle in your arms and gently hushed and bounced the child in the hopes to quiet their wails. Your eyes welled with tears as the smoke consumed the room, your eyes caught the name Miles scrawled across the sign on the front of the crib. You quickly heaved yourself up onto the nearest bench to the exit through the ceiling. Your muscles flexed as you climbed through the opening, doing your best to hold the child to your chest, and made the trek back down the building.
Relief washed over you when your feet met the ground, now that the child was safe from harm you had to find the group of scientists Jake Sully trusted, and could hand over the child. You called for Ta’ra who followed your chirps and whoops to your location, finally you climbed on her back carefully, one arm cradled the babe to your chest as the other attached your queues. You scoured the battlefield for the scientists, spotting them not far from your previous location.
The handoff was seamless as you explained the situation as quickly as possible, antsy to get back to your set mission, your mind was still on the battlefield, on your duties and strikes that were yet to be executed.
The forest was almost silent, shrouded in thick smoke, ash blew on the wind as the immediate consequence of the war.
Your ears zeroed in on Ikeyni’s familiar ululating calls for help throughout the forest, your heart sunk, you knew someone had to be injured. Your strong strides carried you to the group huddled around the body lying on the forest floor. Your breath caught in your throat and feline-like eyes widened in horror at the scene.
Tsu’tey’s war paint was broken up by the crimson blood smattered across his face, the rest of his body in a similar fashion. Mo’at hovered over him, binding the open wounds but by her expression you knew it was all in vain. Through the haze of pain he looked past Jake Sully and nodded to you. The understanding in his eyes did nothing to quell the storm raging inside you. His final words were wheezed out to Jake Sully.
“Set my spirit free.” Your eyebrows pinched together and you forced down your shaky breath. Jake protests Tsu’tey’s decision, his final words were weak yet thick with emotion. Any words exchanged were blocked out by the ringing in your ears, you stared as Jake Sully leaned over the Olo’eyktan, his shadow shrouded his actions but when he pulled back from the body, you gazed at the red pooling down his body, Tsu’tey’s glazed-over eyes stared blankly into the sky, the Na’vi’s prayers for the dead echos through the solemn forest.
The war was over, Tsu’tey was long gone and the new Na’vi, previously Dreamwalker, Jakesully became the new Olo’eyktan. The Omatikaya returned to Hell’s Gate to escort the sky people to their ships to return to their planet. The evicted parties were sullen and angry and you didn’t miss the look their leader shared with Jake Sully.
You and some of the remaining Tayrangi joined them, as you watched the human’s ship leave the atmosphere a sense of relief was present, cheering and whoops almost drowned out the engine of the ship. A select few of the non-violent humans were invited to stay on Pandora, there were no arguments against this decision and thankfully no further conflict.
Ikeyni instructed you and the other Tayrangi to return to Omatikaya’s new home, you agreed to her orders, it wasn’t like you would disagree as you could barely meet her eye since your return without Tsu’tey. Their temporary home was a stone's throw from Hell’s Gate, where a ceremony was swiftly organised to transfer Jake Sully to his Avatar body and become a full Na’vi.
Days passed as the Omatikaya rebuilt and settled into their new home. The camp was bustling as hunters returned with the spoils of the day, children roamed free, laughing and playing in the new terrain. You kept to yourself, not wanting to meet the scorn of your fellow clan members whilst you awaited new orders from Ikeyni. Tonight the clan leaders were meeting for who knows what about, despite being invited to the meeting. A nervousness clouded over your whole day and by nightfall the community had gathered around the fire as they ate, sung, and talked about the events of the day.
The meeting was scheduled for now when it was less likely for anyone passing by to overhear the contents of the meeting. You perched outside the tent awaiting for orders to enter, when you heard your name called you were hasty to pull apart the cloth barrier. Jake Sully’s eyes caught yours as recognition fell over his face and you’re brought back to days before in the forest as you saw Tsu’tey’s eyes glaze over. You almost have to shake your head to rid the memory.
The atmosphere was tense and despite your warrior background, you shrunk under the gaze of the two Olo’eyktans.
“Thank you for joining us, I was just discussing with Toruk Makto the terms of your agreement with Omatikaya.” Arrangement? Surely she couldn’t be talking about your birth clan, you were more Tayrangi now than you ever were Omatikaya, you had been welcomed into the clan within the first few weeks of living with them.
“You are no longer needed with the Tayrangi, you will return to your home clan and you are relieved of your role as chief. You will no longer hunt, even with Omatikaya, you are stripped of your armour and are to return to civilian life.” It was a punch to the gut, in no way could you have prepared yourself for this, despite knowing you would receive punishment for your actions during the war you didn't expect such a severe response.
Your lip quivered before she got out the first sentence and you hated yourself for the blatant display of emotion. You were chief for god-sake who would respect a warrior that immediately broke? But you were no longer a chief, you had to remind yourself. So what were you?
Ikeyni’s words were nauseating, she watched as you processed her words and beat you to the punch before you could argue with her.
“It is already done.” grief gripped you and you resigned yourself to your fate, you swallowed down your pride and tried anyway, begging.
“Fighting is all I know, I was born into it, bread for it, and you mean to tell me I am being punished for a tragedy, something out of my hands? Who am I if I cannot hunt?” It came out as a whisper, raw emotion in front of these powerful Olo’eyktans, but there was no pity for you and Jake Sully was merely a voyeur in the conversation.
“The alliance between Tayrangi and Omatikaya is over as the sky people are gone. We will remain civil but no longer deploy warriors between the clans. You are to be with your birth clan, we thank you for your service.” You scavenged your thoughts for any argument that could prevent you from the inevitable, Ikeyni’s form retreated, a sour reminder there was no room for argument.
You caught Jake Sully’s eyes for a moment, an emotion neither of you could put your finger on shared between you both, before you followed your previous Olo’eyktan outside, into a huddle of the remaining Tayrangi. Your armour was stripped in front of their eyes, piece by piece landing in a pile on the ground as shame and humiliation clouded you.
The decision had been made and there was no fight left in you. Your teary stare landed on the pile throughout the ritual but by the end, you met Ikeyni’s indifferent gaze.
You stumbled away from the group holding back the tears that had been brewing, you forced them down due to the numbness that steamrolled any other feelings you had. You stared at the eclipse in the sky wishing that this wasn’t real, that it was some nightmare your brain had conjured up. hadn’t you given enough, paid enough for your actions? The image of Tsu’tey’s empty stare at the same eclipse you look at as he lay on the forest ground, succumbing to his wounds has haunted your dreams every night since the war. The crimson stains on his body and your hands burned into your memory, you figured a lifetime of hunting and preparing for war would have prepared you for this. You felt fragile, the only one haunted by the demons that had invaded your home.
Your vantage point offered you the view of the remaining Tayrangi gathered around their Ikrans on a cliff near camp, as they readied their saddles for the flight back home.
Guilt racked your frame as you realised you’d delayed their return back to their families, and you wouldn't journey back to see the familiar faces and friends that had been by your side for the past few years. Knowing looks were sent your way, embarrassment heated you all over. Within the hour the Tayrangi had said their goodbyes to the Omatikaya, who returned with thanks for their support during the fight. You had sequestered yourself from both clans until Ikeyni pulled you aside one final time.
“This is not the end of us, I will return soon to check on you and the skxqwng Jake Sully, who will most likely need some guidance in his Olo’eyktan duties, perhaps in my absence you may fill the role.” You wanted to snort at that, you wanted nothing less to do with the man as he served as a constant reminder of the Olo’eyktan you had killed. You gave no response other than a silent nod. You and the Omatikaya watched the Ikrans fly off into the horizon until they were nothing more than a spec in the distance, and you were alone, in a clan that you had not been a part of since a babe.
Though you were in your birth clan, it’d been years since you were a part of the Omatikaya. Whilst you felt like an outsider it was comforting knowing that this was also their new home since the destruction of Hometree, they’d done their best to make this camp liveable whilst searching for a new Hometree to claim. Hammocks strung from the low-hanging branches and torches were embedded every few metres; their way of life had not changed despite the change in habitat.
The communal fire burned bright at the base of the largest tree in the area as families gathered around its warmth. You kept to the outside of the circle, not joining in on the conversation around you as you thought about the interactions you had with Ikeyni earlier in the day. The harsh look on her face is not one you would forget soon, and the disappointment in you that she undoubtedly harboured.
You were zoned out observing the flames until the whispers met your twitching ears and you couldn't take another bite of your food, “...Killed Tsu’tey…” “Shame to the Tayrangi” “Murderer.” You felt the guilt and anger at yourself deep down, but somehow on the surface level it was just numbness.
A gasp ripped from your throat as a larger frame settled into a squat next to you, a muscular bicep pressed firmly against yours before they readjusted their position. You looked to your right but your eye line only met his shoulder before you looked up to meet the golden eyes of Jake Sully’s. The flames of the fire bathed him in a warm glow that made him and his eyes look enchanting, and you hated yourself for thinking it.
“How are you settling in?” His voice was husky and commanding, he seemed so suave as he questioned you and smiled at other clan members around the fire.
You were not quite sure how to answer as you’d only been there a few hours and had barely interacted with other clan members.
“It’s…very different from when I was a child, I suppose I have you to thank for that.” You didn’t mean for it to come off accusatory but it did, he looked at you with amusement and snorted his way into his next sentence.
“I didn’t mean for all of this to happen,” He looked around at the gathering. “To completely up-root these people's lives and to suddenly be looked to as a leader. I am no leader but I’m honouring a promise, something you know about.” He nudged your shoulder.
You wished you could take solace in this interaction, the first person to show you kindness since your return, but a bitter taste in your mouth brought you back to your actions from days ago. It was baffling how little interaction you had with the other Omatikaya clan members since the war as you knew people definitely remembered you just as you remembered them, but sharp looks were sent your way the second you attempted to speak to them. You had to admit Tsu-tey had dedicated supporters.
“I have no opinion on your leadership style Jake Sully.” It’s decisive.
“Call me Jake.” He asked for your name in return and he pondered the phonetics of it before deciding he liked the sound of it.
“You know I could use your expertise in terms of Olo’eyktan duties, I’m gonna need a right hand when it comes to making decisions.” Your mind was so numb from the days' events you couldn’t even comprehend what he asked of you. You could only stare as he awaited your response.
His cocky smile wasn’t infuriating, more welcoming and secure. One of his eyebrows raised, surprisingly hairy but you could account that on his human genetics. What caught your eye is the tiny white flecks dotted along his face, the constellations making indistinguishable patterns that you would love to spend time trying to decipher.
“I do not plan on being here long Jakesully, you have no use for me.” You’re headstrong, he’d give you that.
“Well I hate to twist the knife but this is your home now. It’s best if you try and make it comfortable for yourself.” He’d nearly finished his plate, mopping up the leftover grease.
“I’ll entertain the thought, if I’m here longer than a week you will have your answer then.” You compromise. He stood up from his squat, knees cracking as he did and you had to stifle a laugh.
“Less than a week.” He assures before walking off into the crowd, greeting people as he parted through.
You were getting out of here if it’s the last thing you do, you didn’t even need the chief title at this rate, just to hunt and be a warrior. You thought back to Ikeyni’s parting words, “ I will return soon to check on you and the skxqwng Jake Sully.” She was bound to return within the same month to meet with him, what better chance would you have if you were the right hand of the Olo’eyktan? You had your answer.

"Does she know?" Lo'ak’s tone became serious for a moment. "No, not yet. I’ll tell her about that when the time comes. " "Our father will skin you alive, bro" said the youngest. " Probably…" The conversation turned to the end.
You had taken a basket of Spartan fruit and steamed Teylu; you would have liked to hear the conversation between Lo'ak and Neteyam but most of the words were a mix of Na'vi and that language you couldn’t understand. When you were ready you came out of the hut, you looked at the boys with a slight blush on your face. "I took what I came looking for… please, take the water…" You whispered with a thread of voice as you passed the two boys. You could see out of the corner of your eye that Neteyam had tried to touch your elbow when you passed in front of him, but he retracted his hand after his brother’s gaze fell on him. You didn’t give much importance to this detail, taking it for granted that he had made this choice in order not to make you feel further uncomfortable with his brother. When you returned to your family’s hut you noticed that your mother and Neytiri kept talking about some strange event they had faced when they were young; Jake arguing with your dad about warrior stuff while the one you recognized as Tuk and Kiri were talking to each other. You put the basket on the table and then you were invited by the little one to sit with her and her sister, at the beginning you were reluctant to approach them but then you had the courage to sit down with them; Kiri hadn’t looked at you most of the night while Tuk was anxious to meet you.
"I’m Tuktirey! You’re Neteyam’s friend, aren’t you? Your hair is so beautiful, wow!" the voice of the little girl was ringing but pleasant to listen to as she touched some of your braids, admiring the small jewels that were wedged between them. "I love your clothes and your jewelry! You are really beautiful, y/n!" she continued, making genuine and sincere appreciations on every part of you, only to be stopped by Kiri who could feel your slight embarrassment as you thanked little Tuk. "Tuk, if you keep this up, she’s gonna run like a hawk" said the girl who must have been about your age, as she touched Tuk’s braids, making her peel off slightly from you. "I am Kiri, but I think you know us at least by name, Neteyam never misses the opportunity to talk about us" her eyes rolled as if she already knew that 100% he had done it, in fact she was right. "Coincidentally he did it just today, It’s not like we had a lot of time together outside of class hours or formal events," you bit the corner of your mouth slightly as your eyes fell on the floor. Kiri noticed that there was something deeper, but remained silent to not make you uncomfortable, after all she had just met you.
At that moment the two young Sullys also entered the hut with some Dapophet leaves that contained the water all of you would need for the long night. The lanterns that were placed inside the hut began to light up with the arrival of the eclipse of the day, while the two boys took their seats near you and the two sisters.
Neteyam sat between you and Tuk, often holding her when she needed the affection of his older brother. You found out that Tuk was particularly close to Neteyam, you could tell by how she whined at the thought of going back to the Omatikaya clan without her brother, and how she complained that Lo'ak couldn’t braid her hair like Neteyam, or by her laments for how Lo'ak always prohibited her from following him into the woods. It softened you the dynamic between them, you could see yourself so much in Tuk, at least 'the old you', the one a little rebellious and mischievous, but endured by the older sister. You also laughed at the way Lo'ak was reprimanded by Kiri when he said something extremely stupid or when he appeared in the stories as a powerful warrior. After a long time you felt happy, you no longer had the burden of thinking about tomorrow or your duties, In one night, your shoulders shook thanks to those who until last month considered 'demons'. The thing that left you most enchanted was how Neteyam smiled and tried to keep all three brothers quiet, almost like a father to them. When it came your turn to speak you found yourself bickering with Neteyam, as he was too modest to be complimented on his skills or improvements; Sometimes you two find complaining and contradicting eachother about some funny scenes that happened while you were training, like the fact that he almost drowned that morning while trying to stay under the water as long as possible.
Suddenly Tuk opened her mouth to talk, drawing your attention. "Neteyam, you and y/n are mated? Becaus-" Lo'ak plugged Tuk’s mouth with Teylu, getting a tender pout from the little girl. "Tuk, you’re talking too much, eat something" Lo'ak said embarrassed as Neteyam blushed and looked slightly away as he scratched the back of his head. "No, just friends. We’re just friends, Tuktirey" you said smiling, while Lo'ak held back a smile that was certainly containing a laugh. Your eyes shook him in the moment, while Kiri had managed to connect the dots in her mind. Kiri looked first at Neteyam and then at you, noticed how the brother swallowed in embarrassment and tried to hide the blush on his cheeks, and how you looked at Lo'ak badly for his expression and embarrassed smile. The marks on Neteyam’s chest and the small scratches behind his back, and then he noticed some hickeys in the upper thigh and closer to your intimacy. She nodded in silence, while a dark veil covered her face after realizing, feeling bad for you, since most likely you did not know yet. "Friends? You seem so close though" Tuk said with his mouth still full, as Lo'ak sighed with relief as he hadn’t mentioned that little detail that only Neteyam could have told you. "is because I am his Karyu, in this month he spent more time with me because of the lessons that with the other Na'vi of the village" Neteyam’s head nodded agreeing.
The evening continued along the same lines: funny stories, Tuktirey insisting that you and Neteyam were a couple, Lo'ak and Neteyam trying to silence her in their strange language and Kiri maybe contemplating death and then talking to you gently. Towards the end of the evening, the Sullys went to sleep in Neteyam’s hut, as they would leave the next day late in the afternoon. You were happy to have met the Sullys, you had discovered how they were simply Na'vi with their flaws and merits; it made you laugh as Jake seemed so trained when Neytiri spoke over him or corrected his grammar, you found them tender… Now that you were lying in the part of the hut dedicated to you, you couldn't help but smile as you looked out of the window hole, still lying on your carpet, talking quietly to the stars and the wind. This was something you often did when you needed to vent both positively and negatively, it made you feel so close to your sister, and you hoped she would hear you tell her about your experience with the Sullys. A gentle breeze came into your room and made you smile, thinking it was Ney'nari’s answer, interpreting that breeze as your sister’s encouragement to move on and continue to bond with that family you were afraid of before and disgusted with.
"Y/n… y/n, are you awake?" a voice coming from outside made you get up from the ground and look out the window, and then notice Neteyam looking for something on the ground, as to hit the window to attract your attention. "I’m awake. What are you doing here at this hour?" you said noting the late hour. Neteyam’s face rose and smiled as he looked out the window. "I told you, I can’t sleep if you don’t say good night, Ma Tanhì," his voice was slightly lowered, so as not to attract the attention of sleepers in the village. He approached your window, albeit slightly higher from where he was. "Skxawng, go to sleep. If they found you there they would skin you" you whispered, trying to make your voice heard only to him. You had to hold back a smile for that gesture as foolish as it was sweet, which had particularly impressed you. "Then say good night, so I have quiet dreams." His eyes chained to yours, watching the little smile that was born on your face. "Goodnight, 'Teyam," you said quietly as you put your cheek on the palm of your hand, noting how happy and uplifted Neteyam seemed after your words. "Good night, ma eywa," you blushed when he called you "Eywa," you didn’t expect it and he knew it. He looked up to you as you smiled like a carefree child thanks to him. After seeing you smile like this, he would surely have had more than golden and serene dreams.
Your gaze fell on him again, his eyes open as he watched you as if you were his entire universe, so much love in those golden eyes that made you blush and smile. You looked at each other in silence for a few minutes, while he was mimicking you with sweet words that you could understand even without hearing his voice. "ma eywa, sweet dreams… nga yawne lu oer" The boy’s voice made all the love and adoration he felt for you, making you smile. You sent him a kiss with your hand, which he took theatrically and carried to his heart, doing the same with you before leaving. Now your back was leaning just below the window, while your hands were resting on your chest, at heart level, squeezing that flying kiss that Neteyam had left you. Neteyam had become the cure you needed after all the years you spent hiding your unhappiness from the world; small gestures like these simply brought you closer to that precipice that was love. You should have been afraid, you were a woman already mated for years, soon the rite of Tsaheylu with Tul'pey would have come, but your mind was poisoned by Neteyam. You fell asleep with a sweet smile on your face, asking Eywa to pass the night quickly so that you could see Neteyam again as soon as possible, you were already missing his sweet touch and scent.
Eywa welcomed you into the dream world and granted your wish, bringing the morning quickly. When your eyes opened, the rays of the two suns hit your face, and for the first time it didn’t even bother you. You got out of bed with a smile on your face and when your parents saw you so sunny they were strangled, they smiled at you and you needed some berries and fruits that they had gone to get from the shed. "Ma'ite, today you shine more than the suns." Your father’s voice made you smile and nod as you savored the sweet juice of the Yovo fruit. "It’s true, what delights your heart so much, ma'ite? We haven’t seen you like this for years." Your mother continued, before passing a hand through your braids and giving you a maternal smile. It was true, Ney'nari’s death had marked you in everything: the smiles were false and if they were true you noticed with how much weakness you held them in face; your character more off and calm to emulate that of your sister, totally making you another person; the way you seemed to sprinkle joy and tranquility made them think for a moment that their sweet, rebellious and old y/n was back. "It’s just a beautiful day, no big deal." You whispered with slight blush on your cheeks as you squinted under your mother’s caresses.
After breakfast, you changed your clothes and rushed out of your hut, hoping to see Neteyam soon. You arrived in front of his hut and welcomed by Tuk, who had apparently just woken up, but did not deprive you of her sweet welcoming smile. "Looking for Neteyam? he went to the village with Lo'ak a little while ago" Her sleepy voice made her even more tender, made you think if Neteyam had the same tenderness as a child. " Thank you Tuktirey" You answered her and then laid a hand on her head, slightly upsetting her braids, while she laughed softly. You thanked Tuk before going to the center of the village to look for the two brothers. You met Lo'ak right away, and he seemed quite insistent on not letting you go looking for Neteyam, not understanding why he was so ambiguous. "Lo'ak, please, let me go find Neteyam" you said gently, repeating yourself several times before abruptly departing from him, following the sound of two voices, one of which sounded vaguely like Neteyam’s. Once you got to where the voices came from, you could distinguish Neteyam’s shoulders and back, but not with whom he was speaking, even though the female voice was unequivocal. "Shit, I tried to stop her…" Lo'ak said once he reached you, spinning Neteyam and showing the figure of a beautiful and tall Na'vi, with long black braids adorned with feathers and flowers typical of the forest; Her clothes were obviously well-made, and you could tell she was of a high status other than that she was definitely a warrior. Your eyes passed from her to Neteyam, failing to understand who Na'vi was close to him.
"Who's she?" Your voice was slightly absent as you looked Neteyam in the eye, looking for sincere answers, but reading only embarrassment and fear in those golden pools. "'Teyam, w-who is she?" you repeated again, not understanding why he didn’t answer right away, and why he wasn’t reassuring you "MaTanhì… she is…" His voice was broken as he searched for words he could not find. Your heart beat in your throat as you felt Lo'ak gently take you by the wrist, as if to take you away from there. "His mate. I am Reyin'al te Sxeke Ninat'ite…" Replied proudly the woman who before was behind Neteyam and who now wrapped her hands around his arm. "… Tsakarem of the Omatikaya" The surprise crept into your gaze, your eyes widening in disbelief before the stark reality that was revealed before you. "Tsakarem of the Omatikaya…" You yanked your wrist from Lo'ak’s grip, as if to get rid of it. Your heart seemed to have stopped like your breath, your eyes that were before on the woman, now they returned to the face of Neteyam who did not have the courage to look at you.
All the happiness that was before in your body evaporated like water under the scorching sun, your eyes went out of disbelief and it hurt you that Neteyam now didn’t even look you in the eye, giving you a tacit statement to what the girl had said. You would have wanted him to say 'No, it’s a misunderstanding' or something to cheer you up, but he didn’t. You searched in vain for his gaze for endless seconds, and then you tightened your jaw and nodded at the Na'vi who answered you, and then you turned around and left as your heart fell apart. You heard footsteps behind you following you, but you didn’t turn around for a second, because you knew if the steps were Neteyam’s, you would collapse in front of him. You found yourself immersed in a whirlwind of emotions as you ran away from him, a tumultuous tornado that tore your soul apart. A wave of pain swept over you, like a fist to the chest that left you breathless. Your heart, first filled with joy, broke into a thousand pieces, leaving a deep wound burning inside you while. The feeling of emptiness warmly welcomed you, as if something essential had been ripped from you. Anger enveloped you like a burning fire, a flame that blazed in the depths of your being. The bitterness is mixed with tears running across your face, cursing you for not being strong enough to hold them. The confusion struck you, and along with it the overlapping questions in your mind, looking for an answer that can make sense of what you heard. You felt lost in a maze of conflicting emotions, unable to find a way out. Sadness envelops you, a heavy mantle that oppresses you and makes you feel deaf to the words of the boy who was following you. Your world has fallen with such speed that even your certainties were dissolved.
A warm hand but too strong to be Neteyam’s kept you from running away. Once you turned to the owner of the hand you noticed that the person who followed you was Lo'ak, and a sense of desolation covered your face. "Y/n… I tried to-" Lo'ak’s voice snapped when he noticed your shiny, slightly red eyes, immediately realizing he had no excuse. " He would have told you… he was waiting for the right moment." He said before he looked away from you, lest you feel uneasy at the tears that streaked your face without your will. You swelled your chest several times, trying to regain the gift of the word, which had been taken away from you by that storm of emotions that had exploded in you. " Isn’t it too late for that? He had plenty of time to talk to me about her." Your broken voice made an idiot hear the boy in front of you, as if anything in his brother’s defense would be in vain. "Y/n.. I understand, I tried to keep you from looking for Neteyam because of that, because I knew he wanted to talk to you first," he continued, letting go of your wrist. "If so, he would be in your place now." Your tone was sour and poisonous, to this statement of yours Lo'ak did not know how to respond without looking like a complete idiot.
He knew you were right, you were absolutely right to feel that way and to be angry. Before he snapped to follow you, the look of Neteyam watching you leave gave him the courage to do what his older brother couldn’t. He was sure Neteyam would tell you, he wasn’t a liar, you could trust him and his word, but Reyin'al’s sudden arrival had ruined all the plans. Neteyam had never loved Reyin'al, they had grown up together, known by the whole clan as the two strongest and most admirable warriors, Mo'at had paired them from an early age saying that their union would bring greatness to the Clan. Despite this, Neteyam had always seen Reyin'al more as a friend than a mate, he had grown up with the love stories of Neytiri and Jake and dreamed of meeting his soulmate like them. He had always felt too close in that relationship, so much so that he had never really tried to make it work, he wanted to try 'true love', fight to meet it and have a sweet ending like his mother’s. Neytiri had always supported his son’s dream, clashing with Jake who agreed with the decision of the elderly Tsahik, reminding him several times that she was destined for another man but still chose her partner. And Neteyam had finally figured out how his mother felt about her father when he saw you, falling in love with you day by day.
"Just yesterday he was under my window, sending me kisses and sweet words, and then…. receiving this poisoned knife. Don’t tell me you’re gonna tell me because I don’t believe a word of it." You hissed before you walked away from Lo'ak, hearing him say something remotely like "Kenten mì kumpay…" Blood was boiling in your veins for trusting him. The pain spread in you like a fire burning in your chest, a feeling of weight that oppresses your breath. Every beat of your torn heart seems to recall the bloody wound that made you lose your breath, a excruciating pain that spreads in every fiber of your being. Feeling you vulnerable as your knees found peace on the grass, near the precipice where it faced the sea.
A reluctant hand landed on your shoulder as you growled. "Lo'ak, go away." Your tone was high, it was releasing all the pain that was building up in you. "Ma Tanhì… I-" You walk away from that delicate touch as if you were struck with burning iron when you realized that voice belonged to Neteyam and not to Lo'ak.
Neteyam had found the strength to follow you and his brother only after a few minutes of derealization and shame, but when he managed to reach you you were already gone and it was Lo'ak who showed him the way to find you. His remorseful look was on your back, hoping to see your face and explain the situation. "Go.away." You spelled it with clenched teeth, giving him your back as you wiped away tears that seemed not to want to stop coming out of your eyes. He swallowed, taking a long breath to start talking. "Ma Tanhì… let me just explain, please" His voice was broken as he tried to explain himself, seeking your consent to speak. You rose from the ground and looked him in the eyes with contempt and disappointment, your shiny and slightly swollen eyes destroyed him more than your words could. You shook your hands in a fist to try to condense your anger as Neteyam’s gaze became increasingly guilty.
"Explain? What do you want to explain. You have a partner and you didn’t tell me." Your words hit her skin like arrows. "You knew about Tul'pey, and you didn’t tell me about that 'Reyin'al'." Your voice was filled with hate as you yelled at him against words that scratched his skin and soul. "I wanted to-" you stopped him with a wave of your hand, and then growled at him. " You lied. You lied and deceived me." Neteyam’s jaw twitched as he listened silently. "You made promises." You started pushing him backwards.
The tension was now palpable in the air, not the usual pleasant tension, a destructive and cramped. Your eyes burn with anger and disappointment, your hands hit hard on his chest making him back, trying to vent all his frustration and pain in one blow. Driven by the anger and wound that had crept into your heart, you struck his chest at other times, letting each blow be a cry of protest against his actions. Each punch, slap or push was accompanied by sharp words, screams of pain and growls that intertwined with your anger. But unlike Tul'pey, Neteyam accepted your desperate cry and took each blow in silence, letting you vent on his body if it would help you feel better. "I hate you. I hate you, Neteyam. I hate you with all my heart," you yelled at him in the face as you held back every tear, as your fingers sought a foothold on him, scratching his chest before pushing him again. He wanted to hug you and let you cry over him, but he understood that now your wound was still fresh and bleeding brutally.
"I want you to leave. Now. Never come back. Go away with your parents today. I don’t want to see you again." You said to then walk away from him, while your hands were still shaking from the rush of emotion that passed through your body. "Go away. Take away your promises and your partner. I put myself at risk for you…. and you ruined everything! " This time Neteyam’s hand approached you, and then was struck by your hand. "Everything I said, I really meant it. Every promise, every compliment, everything was true… She's not you. I never wanted her, I want you, ma Tanhì…" Your eyes still looked at him with disgust as your heart betrayed you by beating so hard for those words. " You lied. You’re a liar. I don’t believe you." You answered with clenched teeth, before screaming to relieve the tension. "I didn’t lie to you… please, ma Tanhì, listen to me." His voice was broken as he tried to get close to you, being rejected. He felt guilty, he promised never to make you cry again, love you and make you happy, but now he was holding in his hands the pieces of your broken heart. "Go away. I said you have to go away!" You yelled at him, his eyes lowered to the ground. He didn’t know whether to listen to your request and let you go or be deaf to your voice and insist on his position.
Neteyam took a deep breath, approaching you and taking your arms, looking you in the eye. "Ma Tanhì, listen to me and if you want I’ll leave. I never wanted to be with Reyin'al, we have been mated all our lives, without choice. I fell in love with you, just you and every aspect of you. I feel horrible, a monster, seeing that I hurt you so much, it was not my intention… I swear to Eywa" A tear twisted Neteyam’s face and laid his forehead on yours. You took a deep breath, repressing all those feelings sent from your still bleeding heart and growled at him. " I would have told you, I swear, I would have… Reyin'al came unannounced and ruined everything, believe me. Let me fix this… I-" "Do not touch me. Don’t touch me anymore." You said growling, then try to get away from his grip. "I'm begging.. Don’t reject me" he whispered in a tone of voice that died in his throat and let all his pain shine through, but also the desire to keep you close. "Go to your partner. Just go." you made sure to spell the words, then feel his hands let go and hesitate before leaving. " Go. GO AWAY!" you yelled at him again, clenching your jaw and struggling with the conflicting feelings that were being born in you.
It was clear that Neteyam wanted to continue the speech, you could read it in his face: his shiny eyes that hesitated on your hands and then your eyes, as his jaw twitched, the way his tail sent you specific signals, or the way his voice died in his throat. He accepted your request and disappeared into the forest, while you dried your tears and your hands spoke the cold ground beneath you, as if to seek some comfort. You wanted him to stay, but at the same time you wanted him to leave; to kiss you, but you wanted to hurt him, to hear his words, but you were deaf. You spent a few hours in that place, letting nature embrace and welcome you, remembering that you could ask for advice and receive comfort from your sister by making Tsaheylu with one of the voices trees that was placed just a short distance from there. Seen from the outside, no one would ever suspect that you were suffering, after all you were rigid and composed, but those little details didn’t escape her.
"Oel…" Neteyam stopped again, and then looked at you. He squeezed the braid in his hands, not yet connecting it to Reyin'al’s, saw your glassy eyes and the way you tried to look strong. Your hand clasped to Lo'ak’s to seek the strength that was missing as you fell apart in silence.
Neteyam’s heart stopped, shivering, feeling a slight breeze hitting his back fervently. The way your eyes yelled at him not to do it and how his heart was telling him to reach yours. Reyin'al’s hand tightened that of Neteyam, smiling at him, as she anxiously waited for him to reciprocate the formula. She noticed where her partner’s eyes were falling, but she didn’t care much, she just wanted to hear those words and then connect their tails and do Tsaheylu with him.
Neteyam looked away from yours, feeling guilty as a lump in his throat formed and the words died in his throat as he saw out of the corner of his eye the way your free hand was touching and playing with the necklace he had fixed. A second cold gust made him shudder, then sigh. " No." His voice echoed in the air, leaving Reyin'to be confused, not understanding what that 'no' means.
The clan looked at the scene with shock, not understanding why Neteyam had stopped the ritual in this way, beginning to think that perhaps he did not want to be Olo'eyktan. Mo'at stood behind them, looking disconcerted her grandson, holding in her hand the shoulder cover that the Olo'eykte wore when paired.
"No? What does that mean?!" she repeated in disbelief, laughing nervously, hoping that it was a joke of her partner and then shake his hands forcefully, trying to make him come to his senses. "No" Neteyam repeated, before leaving Reyin'al, leaving her hands to approach you.
And with each step that brought him closer to you, the emotions intensified in you, mixing anxiety, fear and overwhelming hope.
He put his hand on yours, gently pulling it from Lo'ak’s, and then getting you up. Your fingers were now intertwined, your eyes were slightly open, not fully understanding the actions of the Omatikayan in front of you. The sacred place was filled with a tense silence because of the guests.
"Neteyam… what are you-" You whispered and then felt Neteyam’s arm wrap around your torso, pushing you against him as your hearts met again. You could feel the tension on his skin, the way his heart was beating so hard against yours as he bent over you. Without a second thought, Neteyam looked at you with hopeful eyes. His heart beat hard in his chest as the thoughts of duties imposed were overwhelmed by the true love he feels only for you. With a bold gesture, his lips rest on yours in a desperate kiss.
Finally his lips met yours, seeking solace in a moment of total anxiety and pressure. You blushed at that sudden act, you felt Reyin'al’s angry look on you, mixed with that of Jake and your mother, as Tsentey, Neytiri and the young Sullys looked at you with a gentle smile, happy that Neteyam had made the right choice.
Your free hand landed on his cheek, looking for his warmth to understand that all this was real, while the kiss became deeper and deeper, as if both of you had waited years before colliding your lips again. His taste was enough to make you forget all those people who were watching you not understanding the situation. As you kissed, you could feel the liberation you felt in showing your truth to the world. Realizing that this is the hardest choice you have ever made, but also the most sincere. In that kiss, you were rebelling against judgment, the rules, the walls that divided you two and consumed you in a fire of authenticity.
Like two hungry people, you ate your lips until you could no longer feel them as your own, when you left, it was because you no longer had air in your lungs. Neteyam looked at you panting because of the lack of air, not letting go of your body and gently holding your hand. " I see you, but Eywa" Neteyam’s sweet, loving eyes were enough to make those cuts that had been bleeding for months now disappear. " I see you, but 'Teyam" Your voice was incredulous as you said it, as your eyes looked at it the same way he did at you.
"Neteyam!" Y/n!" The voices of Ikeyni and Jake mingled furiously as they watched you dishonor everything that was created for you. Your fronts clashed, remaining for a few seconds in silence, looking into your eyes and realizing that you had chosen both of you, that one belonged to the other.
The place burst into a chorus of whispers, surprise and disapproval. The two clans witness this act of rebellion, and their looks fluctuate between scandal and admiration for the willpower of the two lovers. It is a moment full of tension, but also of hope for a love that turned out to be true and powerful.
Jake stood up to come at you, then was stopped by Neytiri’s hand wrapped around his arm. " Ma Jake…" she whispered, and her eyes spoke to him more than her lips could, making him sit near her again. Neytiri’s dreamy eyes watched again her son, reminding her when she did something similar to be with Jake.
On the other hand, your father did the same to Ikeyni, stopping her before she could get close to you and take you away from him, while Lo'ak pulled back a furious Reyin'al, ready to eat both of us.
"Back off. Now." he said, putting himself in front of her, preventing her from reaching you two "Bro, go. Now." Lo'ak’s voice brought Neteyam back from his trance state and took you by the hand, starting to run away from that place, under the gaze of all the clans.
Your hand held that of Neteyam strong, hoping that this was not just a dream, but the firm grip of the boy’s hand gave you a sense of deep connection and solidarity, ready to challenge the clan and let it go for you. Without looking back, you pass through the great crowd, leaving behind all that was established for you, leaving behind the words and the looks.
The light of the suns welcomed you once you left that place, as if to bless your bold choice, Eywa and Ney'nari were protecting you and watching over you.
"Neteyam… you shouldn’t have done this…" You said, as you walked together, hand in hand, feeling free and alive as never before, coming near a hidden river. The world around seemed to wane around you.
"Yes. I had to do it because I want you, ma Tanhì. I suffered so much without you, without hearing your touch, your voice… your eyes. Those beautiful bioluminescent freckles that just make me fall in love with you more." He answered by stopping, taking your hands and looking you in the eye. "I don’t know how to breathe without you, I feel dead if your eyes don’t look at me. I can’t, and I don’t have to lose you. I would die if…" his voice snapped as he brought his forehead back to yours, putting one of his hands behind your head, holding you tight to him, as if he were afraid that you might disappear at any moment and leave him alone again. "Ma Eywa, how beautiful you are…I can’t even think of losing you again"
"Neteyam.. I" The words were lost in your mouth, unable to breathe properly because of his words.
"I know, I know we can’t. I know you’ll be joining Tul'pey in a few eclipses, I know I can’t demand your heart. But I know, deep down, a hidden part of your heart still has my name… I-I can only feel alive near you, only if my eywa sees me… I chose you." His last words hit you directly in the heart.
"I chose you too… Every day, I woke up and chose you, but you weren’t there… I’m sorry I didn’t give you a chance to explain the situation with Reyin'al, I was so afraid of losing you that I actually lost you" Some tears streaked your cheeks as Neteyam laid a gentle kiss on your forehead, smiling as he wiped your tears with his thumbs.
"You never lost me, not for a moment. I am yours from the first time your eyes have rested on mine, and I will continue to be so in all my next lives." Your eyes met again his, smiling sincerely at him, as your hands rested on his chest.
"Our clans, our parents will be furious with us after this." You said with slight fear, you knew that once you returned to them you would receive harsh words and who knows what else.
"I spent my whole life being the perfect son, the perfect warrior and the perfect Olo'eyktan. Now I don’t care, you are what matters. I swear" His sincere eyes looked at you, making you smile again. You felt your heart so full that it could burst with happiness, beating so hard that you felt like you had a heart attack.
"I’m glad you didn’t do Tsaheylu with her… I know it’s not fair to say, now it’s a problem for you to become Olo'eyktan and-" Neteyam silenced you by placing his lips on yours, gently accompanying you to sit on the ground with him, his hands on your hips as he squeezed you.
"'Cause I don’t belong to Reyin'al" he replied on your lips. His golden eyes embedded in yours, making you enchant again. " Oel Gati kameye, ma Y/N.." he whispered as his hand took his braid. Your fingers touched each other, creating a connection beyond just physical contact. " Oel Gati kameye, ma 'Teyam…" you return the same words, taking the long braid behind you.
"Neteyam… this is forever, you know?" You said as the strands of your tails were released openly. "I know" he replied, and then look for confirmation in your eyes or in your words.
You drew your tail closer to his, the filaments that were looking for the other, now became one, binding each other. You had to take a deep breath closing your eyes, leaning on Neteyam, feeling every single feeling he was feeling, finding in his mind all the truths you needed. Neteyam’s eyes watched your reaction, enchanted, then swallowed heavily and closed your eyes, colliding your foreheads again. He felt so fragile and delicate in that moment, feeling every part of you deep down, everything you wanted to tell him before
There were some moments of silence between the two of you, as you breathed deeply because of the spiritual connection you were having, reliving each moment with each other’s eyes, changing perspective. Your fingers clung to secure support as your hearts beat faster and faster, colliding with each other.
You opened your eyes, looking at Neteyam’s face and noticing the slight redness on his cheeks, while his strong and tenacious Na'vi appearance faded to become a mess of sensitive nerves. His deep breaths as he squeezed his closed eyes made you realize he was enjoying every little sensation of that sacred moment, making you smile as you could feel his emotion in feeling so close.
"Neteyam, calm your heart..I’m feeling it." you said with a slight laugh, and you could hear every beat. He laid his hands on your hips, placing you over his legs before clasping his fingers on your body. "Calm it…" His voice was broken because of that tornado of feelings he was feeling.
Your lips met again those of Neteyam, this time the kiss was more intimate, you could feel the way in which his thoughts of adoration towards you were born, as his heart lost beats with every little movement of yours. You laid your hands on his neck, not stopping kissing him with sweetness and need.
You laid your chest against his, as you pushed him back, to meet the ground, but he changed positions before his back met the ground. He crept between your legs, detaching from the kiss to start leaving delicate kisses on your wrists, descending all over your arm, only going up to the last to kiss the palm of your hand with devotion. You heard little electric shocks running through your body, making him smile when he heard them too, confirming that you were enjoying what he was doing.
His lips moved over your neck, moving a few braids to the side for more space. You felt his lips suck your skin, finally leaving his signature on your skin, as if he could finally say 'You’re mine'. Tiny breaths left your body, making you feel lighter and relieved.
Neteyam’s hand ended up between your legs, starting to rub the tips of your fingers on your nerves, managing to feel your fragility in hearing him work where you needed most. He had to grit his teeth because he felt his excitement increase and yours sending strong signals to his mind, he bit his lip while the other hand tried to support itself on the ground not to crush you with its weight. Your fingers ended up touching his sculpted body above you, blurring some lines you’d created with paint, all the way to the edge of his loincloth.
You saw the smile of Neteyam born on his lips, knowing that your actions made him frustrated more and more, playing with that moment of fragility caused by you. " Ma Tanhì… a little pity" he whispered with difficulty, panting as he squeezed his eyes again. Your perfume, your warm skin, your little panties, everything about you was driving him crazy, and feeling connected to him through the Tsaheylu made these sensations amplified.
You took his face and started kissing once again, only to feel the presence of your fingers vanish and be replaced with his cock. When he came into you, you had to take a deep breath, clinging to his shoulders, slightly disturbed by the shoulder cover he wore on either side. Neteyam tore off his shoulder cover to make you feel more secure in the grip on him, while he uttered a deep groan caused by your pleasure. You had already mated to have sex, but this time it was all more intimate and deep, the way you two touched each other right where you needed, the slow movements of Neteyam’s pelvis as it sinks and looks for your sensitive spot, how he kissed you not to make you feel pain if he went too deep or moved the wrong way, his eyes that sometimes looked for yours, and when he left you other marks on the neck or on the open chest.
The Tsaheylu was allowing you to make love not only physically but also mentally and spiritually, totally feeling every single emotion of each other, arriving at a mental orgasm even before your bodies were ready.
You felt inside you the thoughts of Neteyam, his fear of hurting you and the desire to give you pleasure, the way he thought even at this moment of you as if you were a god and he a very lucky na'vi to have you, all his love and promises he was determined to keep. His hands touching your sensitive skin, your breaths mixing, increasing the excitement of both, the way you shook his hand or scratched his shoulders for the pleasure you felt. And then the kisses to stifle the moans or the screams of pleasure, your hickeys on him, your shaking of legs and the way you clung around his intimacy.
When your orgasms came and you felt the hot cum of Neteyam inside, you couldn’t help but smile at it happy, knowing that he knew you wanted this. The na'vi gently collapsed on your chest, curling up on the top that covered your breast, while you caressed his braids with your hands still braided. The Tsaheylu was still holding you together at that moment, exchanging information about the experience that had just been made.
"I’d like to hear you like this forever." You whispered, your hand going down to his back, holding the boy tight.
"I will make you feel this way forever, I swear it." He took his hand woven into yours and kissed your back, making you smile. " We are mated now, in front of the Great Mother and the forest. I am as much yours as you are mine"
"Our clans… what will they think? We can’t be together if we belong to two different clans" Your voice was slightly broken as you spoke, bringing you back to reality.
"They don’t have to think anything, and you don’t have to worry about anything." Neteyam moved away from your chest and approached your face, stroking it with his free hand. " If need be, I’ll become a Tayrangi to stay close to you"
"Neteyam, you can’t… it’s your people." You sighed, putting your hand on his face, turning to his side.
"You are all I need, a title is not worth staying away from you" The sweet voice of the boy made you smile, and then left you another kiss on the lips.
"This looks like déjà vu… But now we risk more" Your eyes were entwined with those of Neteyam, he tried to calm your fears and calm you, even if he was afraid of the future.
"It’ll be okay, y/n.. just trust me." You smiled at him when he said your name again.
"Repeat it…" you whispered. " What?" he replied, slightly confused. "My name, say my name" He smiled at your request.
"Y/n, y/n, y/n, y/n, y/n. I would say it over and over again, until I lost my voice." He stroked your forehead, and then you leaned on his chest.
"You’re a skxawng." said you, laughing, as you heard his heart beating against your ear.
"Hm-Hm your skxawng. But what can I do, my mate has a gorgeous name." You blushed at those words. His mate… Now you were his mate. "What’s going on? Haven’t you realized you’re my mate yet? Now you’re a Sully" he asked jokingly, mocking you, receiving a slap on the chest that you also felt because of the Tsaheylu.
"No, it’s just… I’m happy. I’m happy and I’m not really realizing that we’re mated now." Your eyes looked for his, finding the golden sunset in his eyes.
"We are, and soon, hopefully, I can fulfill one of the many promises I made to you" He kissed your head and you looked at him with curiosity.
"Which one?" Neteyam gently caressed your shoulders and back.
"Seeing your eyes, your smile and your freckles on our children" You smiled again and kissed him, feeling his hands sliding down your lap, making you laugh.
"And what surname will we use? Sully is an alien surname." Your voice was very sweet, peaceful as you cuddled up in his arms.
"If Eywa blesses us with a girl, they’ll all take your name, if it’s a boy, they’ll take mine. I’m not going to trouble us for a last name, as long as they look like their beautiful mother." Neteyam’s sweet eyes were melting your heart while you were drawing lines on his chest.
"The important thing is that they do not ride the Ikran like the father" You answered jokingly, receiving a sweet pinch on the side.
You spent hours talking about your future together now that you were mated, you also took time to look into your memory thanks to the Tsaheylu, remembering all the times you treated Neteyam badly. It made you laugh that you insisted on pushing him away, and then looking at the present and seeing you hanging out on the fresh grass after Neteyam had ruined years of dating a woman he didn’t want.
The day was coming to an end, welcoming the eclipse, leaving you two in that place, remembering your whole story, finally you both had found the way to happiness, the way of love that your sister had so much tried to find and follow. The night had brought the forest to light, creating an unforgettable atmosphere for you, listening to the sounds of the forest, while Neteyam told you about his land, showing you the images in your mind. You fell asleep late in the night, not wanting that moment to end.
The next morning you woke up because of some rays disturbing your face, noticing how Neteyam was sheltering your eyes from that strong light. " Mh… don’t leave this time, go back to sleep" he mumbled, still sleepy, as he held you to him.
"I’m not leaving." You whispered on his face, leaving a kiss on the tip of his nose, noticing how childish and innocent Neteyam looked at that moment. "But we have to come back, our parents will be furious, ma Yawne" The boy growled in dissent, you could still hear his thoughts, realizing that he wanted to stay there with you a little longer.
"Neteyam… 'Teyam… come on, we have to go back. If you don’t get up I’ll go back to my clan, come on… wake up" Your words were followed by sweet kisses left all over his face, making him smile while he kept his eyes closed. "Ma muntxatan." At those words he opened his eyes, looking at you.
"Mh… I like 'ma muntxatan', ma muntxate" Neteyam’s voice was hoarse and deeper, you blushed slightly at his words and he smiled.
"Come, skxawng," you whispered, laughing, interrupting the Tsaheylu to his great regret, when you rose.
"You wake me up forcing me to get up, you don’t even give me a kiss, you threaten me, you insult me, and now you interrupt the Tsaheylu. I feel abused, ma eywa," Neteyam said, sitting on the grass, then taking you by the hips and bringing you back to the ground with him, starting to fill your face and neck with kisses. "Ma Eywa… but how can you be so beautiful" He continued before getting up with you and holding your hand.
You smiled all the way back to the clan, feeling the hangover of last night with your partner. Your hands still entwined when you arrived at the village, swallowed as you saw people watching you, wanting to take your hand away from Neteyam’s, thinking he would be embarrassed. Neteyam squeezed his hand around yours, approaching you without shame, passing in front of Ninat and Reyin'al with indifferent eyes, as if the day before he had not left his daughter to run away with you.
He took you all the way to where he and his family were staying, and on entering you noticed your parents were also there with Neteyam’s. When they noticed your presence, you noticed your enraged mother, and you couldn’t help but look away, shaking Neteyam’s hand as his tail curled around your leg to give you more confidence.
"You. I can’t believe you did this on a day like this" your mother began, menacingly approaching you and Neteyam, being stopped by Neytiri’s hand. Ikeyni looked at Neytiri and noticed that she was shaking her head, as if to prevent her from behaving in this way.
"It’s not her fault. It’s my fault, I did everything." Neteyam began to see Jake’s disappointed look before he answered.
"You had a task. Just one task, Neteyam." Jake’s loud voice broke that moment of silence that had been created, you saw Neteyam’s face darkening and feeling sorry for him, wanting to intervene.
"I know, sir. I-" you shook the boy’s hand and looked at Jake with feline eyes.
"He’s an adult. He can decide the partner he wants." You were defensive, you didn’t care if your parents got mad at you, you wouldn’t let Neteyam take all the blame.
"It’s not a topic you have a say in. Please, y/n, don’t make it harder. He has a duty" Jake approached you, trying to be at least a little political with you, just for Neytiri.
"I am his mate. I have a voice in the matter and his duties are addressed to me." You growled, then noticed the incredulous looks of everyone inside the house.
"Did you mate with Neteyam?!" your mother asked, overcoming Neytiri and looking at you with disappointment and disbelief.
It is said that some hearts understand each other even in silence, and your hearts at that time communicated and were screaming for you to remain united. Neteyam stood by you all the time, your hands giving each other strength to face this situation. The silence between you created the necessary complicity to sustain you, even without looking at you, you understood each other.
"Y/n and I mated before Eywa’s eyes. I belong to her as she belongs to me. We are one soul now" Neteyam said, looking into his father’s eyes and then your mother
"You two…" Your mother growled at Neteyam, and you faced her growling in her face. "He’s my mate now. I chose him, mate Sa'nu, and he chose me." You sought solace in your father’s eyes while he took his wife and drove her away from you.
"You. You don’t understand what you just did! I can’t believe you were foolish enough to mate. That’s no joke! Neteyam you are the future Olo'eyktan of Omatikaya and Y/n Olo'eykte and Tsahìk of Tayrangi. You can’t be together. Shit, what did I do wrong?!" You looked at Neteyam when Jake started speaking in that strange alien language that you didn’t understand.
"Ma Jake. Your son did the same as you did years ago" Neytiri’s voice was accompanied by a hand on Jake’s shoulder. His eyes were serious when he was looking at Jake.
"I wasn’t Olo'eykte, ma 'Tiri. I didn’t have a partner, they’re different things. I-" Neteyam stopped his father from continuing his speech.
"Not you, but as my mother. She left everything for you, stood against her clan and left her companion for you. Mother chose you. And I chose y/n. You can yell at me, tell me I let you down or whatever you want, but I chose my partner." You watched Neteyam’s profile as he confronted his father.
"If you choose this path… you will never both be Olo'eykte and Olo'eyktan. The elders would not allow it, ma 'ite…" said Ikeyni, her voice was broken by despair as she looked at you in the hope of changing your mind, but you turned your face, not wanting to hear.
"I choose him…" You approached Neteyam. "And he choose me" your voice was a whisper in the air, loud enough to reach everyone. Your mother’s eyes became sad, unable to express her malaise, so she leaned on your father who welcomed her into his arms, looking at you with confidence.
Neteyam looked you in the eye and smiled, giving you strength, understanding how you felt. Jake looked at you speechlessly, leaving the house to not say or do things he would later regret.
"Ma sa'nu, please… Ney'nari spoke to me, Eywa sent Neteyam on my way, it’s him. He’s my future" Ikeyni didn’t answer and left just like Jake, without looking at you, with disdain and shame.
"It’s all right, ma Tanhì… I promise you, we’ll get out of it." Neteyam said, taking your face, leading you to look into his eyes. " Mh-mh" mumbles in response, nodding, then feeling more confident when he smiled at you, caressing your cheeks.
Neytiri approached you two and put her hands over your heads, caressing you gently. " I see you… If this is the path of your heart, follow it. No matter how many people are against you, it doesn’t matter if your parents don’t want to, Ikeyni and Jake will change their minds. The important thing is that you two keep seeing each other, and choose each other day by day" Neytiri’s sweet voice gave you even more strength and made you smile at her kindness. " I see you too, ma Neytiri"
From that day the months passed with speed as your belly grew more and more, carrying in your lap the fruit of your love with Neteyam. Your clans were able to accept your union and to see you both as Olo'eyktan and Olo'eykten of both the Omatikaya and the Tayrangi clans, the elders helped you manage the clans and like them your parents.
Neytiri was excited to become a grandmother and followed you in every month of pregnancy maybe more than your mother, wanting to protect the little creature that grew in you. Tuk often brought you jewelry for your baby, happy that she was no longer the youngest, while Kiri never missed the opportunity to put her hands on your belly to feel the life growing in you.
Slowly your mother and Jake accepted your relationship, blessing you and offering silent forgiveness. Reyin'al didn’t even dare look at you, the hatred in her eyes was evident and Lo'ak always proposed to accompany you everywhere when Neteyam was busy, to avoid misfortunes caused by that rancorous woman. As for Tul'pey, he was deeply hurt that you had mated with Neteyam, but there was relief in his eyes, for now he was no longer meant to mate with you, being able to continue loving the memory of Ney'nari.
The months of pregnancy made you more and more nervous but Neteyam did not leave you a moment alone, not hesitating for a second to leave everything he was doing to come to you. The long nights you spent talking about the little one in your lap, 'a strong and beautiful little Neteyam', so the Tsahìk considered him after checking your womb. You never forgot Neteyam’s tears of joy when he found out it was a boy your baby, spending hours talking to your belly as he said that little na'vi would hear him, asking you to do Tsaheylu to feel your firstborn together. You knew that Neteyam would become a perfect, caring and kind father, as well as an impeccable mate.
Finally you were happy, you lived with a smile on your face, coupled with the best companion you could ask for, with your clans united and a future Olo'eyktan who would lead two of the greatest clans in the forest. Love in your home was not lacking, like affection and protection. Neteyam managed to keep all his promises, becoming your home, your protection and the one who improved your days tirelessly. You thanked Ney'nari and Eywa for this, now you walked on the right path, You and Neteyam walked together towards the future, finding your way of love after so many pitfalls.

Neteyam…" your hand reached his outstretched arm, which at your touch relaxed with an unimaginable speed. "I know, I don’t have to be jealous. He’s still your promised, but I’d rather not see you two like this" He sighed frustrated and then looked at your hand on him "We’re a mated couple, it takes time. I can’t say anything for sure yet, you know?" "I understand, MA Tanhi. Take all the time you need, I’m in no hurry. Not with you, not for you." he said kissing your hand.
"Neteyam, if you continue like this, I swear I'll take back everything I said and send you back where you came from." You said as you took your hand off Neteyam’s lips, seeing how a smile formed on his lips. "You’d miss me too much, Ma Tanhi," he said as he took your hand again, weaving your fingers. You whispered something he didn’t understand and his head bent to the side amused him. "What did you say?" "Nothing you can understand" You replied laughing as you continued your walk, without taking your hand off the warm and welcoming boy. "You don’t understand me now either" he said in the language called 'English', which to you Na'vi was unknown. Your confused expression made the boy laugh. "It's not fair, you understand Na'vi. I don’t know the language of demons." Your tone was slightly offended and cold. "Don’t you know it? So I could say anything without you understanding me?" His playful voice made you think he was joking with you, which is why you hit his chest with your hand. "Speak Na'vi. I don’t understand you!" Neteyam’s hand landed on your side and approached him laughing. "You're beautiful as the sunset painted with purple shades, which embraces the sky and makes the stars shine. A work of art that steals breath and enchants souls." He said, smiling softly as he brought his forehead back to yours.
"I hate you." You said offended, standing by him, then being taken back into Neteyam’s arms. "What did you say? If you have offended me I swear that you'll be the next meal of Yìmkxa." Your hissing made the boy smile more, who took the hand that was woven to his and kissed your wrist. "I said you’re as beautiful as stubborn" he replied, chuckling, getting hit by your hand again. "I’m not stupid. Does that long sentence mean 'you’re as beautiful as stubborn'?" You spent the next twenty minutes trying to understand what Neteyam was saying to you in that strange language that you didn’t know was just sweet words coming from the heart. He enjoyed seeing you angry, even if you hit him repeatedly with anger, he thought you were just raving while pouting and hurting, following you away from him. "No. Don’t follow me. I’m angry and you’re bothering me." You snorted, accelerating the pace to distance yourself from him, while he followed you laughing and gently pulling your tail to make you more nervous. "I annoy you, ma Sa'nutsyìp?" He asked, laughing and then picking you up from behind and locking you in his arms, filling you with sweet kisses all over your face, preventing you from answering.
A smile popped up on your lips and you looked at him, failing to keep your anger, softening in his arms, holding only a tender pout. "We must return to the village. I have to visit Tul'pey’s parents and talk to my mother, from what she told me we have visitors tonight," you said and then you took Neteyam’s face off your face. "Tul'pey’s parents? Ahh, I don’t like the idea" he sighed back. " But I know my mother would love you, from what my father told me, she was just like you." "Same as me? Neytiri is a warrior known in the clans of the forest, according to rumors I am not even remotely like her" Neteyam’s eyes looked softly at you while smiling, seeing that now you did not speak with contempt of his family. He was surprised when he didn’t even see a grimace on your face after mentioning his father. "Your stories are the same, she destined for a man she does not love, future Tsahik, who then met a na'vi she despised, to end up falling in love with." His warm voice first struck your heart and then your ears. "And you don’t even know how many things my father had to go through to be with my mother," he continued, laughing, starting to walk towards the village, while your eyes did not detach from his figure, strangely interested in the story he was telling.
"As you know, my father was a dream walker, not a demon like you think. He comes from a planet called Earth, came on Pandora on a mission and then met my mother. She treated him really badly, scolding him and hitting him many times. At first she wanted to kill my father. Then the months passed, my mother taught my father how to live among the Na'vi and he fell in love with this land and her. She was meant for Tsu'Tey, a great warrior of our clan, but she chose my father. Eywa welcomed my father among her children, making him also Toruk Makto, helped him defeat human demons, and blessed my parents' union with me. When I told you my father didn’t want war, I meant it. He loves Pandora and the Na'vi, he is a good person, Eywa made him reborn as true Na'vi and guided his way by giving him children and happiness." He stopped to look you in the eye. "My mother’s house was destroyed like yours, because of the war she lost her sister, her father, her Ikran and Tsu'Tey, but that didn’t stop her from being with my father. They are happy together and heal their wounds day by day. And I would like to be the person who heals your wounds. The Great Mother sent me to this clan to meet you, I know. I hope our story is similar to that of my parents, at least at the end. If you knew my father you would see that he is only a father, a husband and an Olo'eyktan who loves his people, not a demon." "I didn’t know these things…" you whispered awkwardly. "I know. But I want you to meet my family one day. Tuk would love you, she’s my little sister, she loves making friends and she would bond with you. Kiri might stay a bit apart but you would become great friends, she is like a sister to me even though she has no blood connection with me, she is very close to Eywa. You’d like Lo'ak, he’s a world-class troublemaker, he’d probably take you on one of his stunts, but he’s a good brother. My parents already adore you, as far as I know, before the great war my parents visited the clan and wished your mother health for you, you were a few years old, maybe 5." he laughed slightly "I don’t remember well, I was 6 years old at the time. But they loved you, I know because before they brought me here they told me about you. Your mother and mine are very close friends, they fought together during the war, your father is also very close to mine. is the destiny of our families to unite."
At his speech you smiled, then continued to listen to small stories about his family as you returned to the village. Were you amazed at how he talked about the disasters his siblings were doing, or how Jake Sully looked so much like your father in his ways, so much so that for a few minutes it seemed to you only a Na'vi. You even laughed at some stories about his childhood and you warmed your heart at the thought of a small neteyam who took the blame for some problems created by Lo'ak. Your face resting on his chest as he carried you in his arms without any effort, making himself known by you even on his weaknesses and fears. Those minutes were enough to make you slightly change your opinion of the Sullys, even if a part of you wanted to be wary of Neteyam’s words; but his eyes glowed like the stars at night as he spoke, a bit like his smile that left you simply enchanted. His sweet, affectionate tone let you know how sincere he was. Tul'pey, yes, loved his family but you never saw on his face the same love that Neteyam had for his family. He talked about it from time to time, preferring to avoid talking about his parents, because he often quarreled with them for nonsense, so you felt a little coldness from him in this field. But with Neteyam, with him you felt all the warmth he felt for his family, even a little nostalgia for his brothers. Unfortunately when he arrived there were only his parents and you thought he was an only child, but it was not so.
Once you arrived at the village, he laid you down gently, slightly sad to have you no longer in his arms and not to smell you while he spoke. He was happy to know that you were interested in his family, and those times that he looked away from the path and carried it on you, he noticed your focused eyes as you listened without disgust. "Ma Tanhì, I’d talk to you for hours about my family, but unfortunately we’ve arrived," he said, kissing the palm of your hand. " I’ll see you later." "Later? I’m busy until tonight, I don’t think we could see each other." You answered with a vaguely sad tone. "At the cost of seeing you just to wish you good night, I’ll see you. I don’t think I can sleep well if my Kifkey doesn’t wish me goodnight" You laughed and then softly hit his chest because of the dramatic tone he was using. "You’re so dramatic. If you were discovered, my parents would skin you alive and most likely Tul'pey would help them. I’m their only daughter, I don’t think they’d be happy to see me with an Omatikaya, especially the future Olo'eyktan." Neteyam looked at you in silence, with eyes in love, as if he didn’t care about the title or his origins at that time. "I don’t care, your pretty lips said 'yes' to me and I’ll take any risks for you" His eyes fell on your lips and he took a deep breath, then passed his hands through his hair. " Ma Eywa. Why it’s so hard not to kiss you? Go before I kidnap you and take you far away" his dramatic tone returned and you laughed, leaving a kiss on his palm before leaving.
The day passed slowly, the meeting with Tul'pey’s parents had only made you want to cancel the mating even more. They had always been two very strict and pretentious Na'vi, they had a minimum of regard for you only because you were the daughter of the Olo'eykte but it was evident that they preferred your deceased sister to you. During the conversation, there was no lack of comparison between you and your sister about how beautiful, wise and strong she was, a born leader. As if you did not know that she would be the best Olo'eykte between the two, in fact she passed her Iknimaya on the first attempt, had led groups of warriors during the Great War and was also respected by the elders, not for the blood he shared with the present Olo'eykte, but for her great successes. You tried to wear clothes that were too big, it was clear that you were the rebellious sister, the one who preferred to run away at night rather than make boring rites, the one that did not follow all the rules and was always covered by Ney'nari.
Neteyam was very similar to her, his behavior with his brothers was exactly like your sister’s with you. You always felt at fault but your parents did not blame you, rather they tried to direct you on a path closer to your heart, you were not next in line, so your being rebellious was accepted, even if often scolded. When Ney'nari died, you had to take her place, be the golden daughter, the future Olo'eykte, the one who would lead the clan. You weren’t asked if that’s what you wanted, nobody gave you more decision-making rights over your life. The elders used to say, "You’ll be a great Olo'eykte," when your sister’s body was still warm and lying in a tent to be cleaned up by your parents. Freedom had been taken from you, you could no longer be 'y/n, the rebellious daughter', you had to be 'Y/n, the future Olo'eykte". You did not even have time to mourn your sister that you had to start the path from Tsakarem and future Olo'eykte, from one day to another your life had changed radically. Ney'nari brought with her a piece of your person that now Neteyam was bringing back.
You had to hold back tears to the memory of your sister, 'the perfect', while those two spoke to you lightly, as if your wound was not yet open. You had lost your sister for five years now, everyone had passed Ney'nari’s death, but not you. You just wanted her to come back and run away, knowing that she would have your back on this too. But you couldn’t, you carried the burden that they had left on your shoulders at the age of 13. It hurt you to smile and nod when they compared you to her so easily, taking in some unpleasant jokes that only made you knots in your throat. Tul'pey sat by your side towards the end of the meeting, nodding his parents right, you didn’t blame him, you knew that in his heart your sister’s name was engraved. After the infernal hours, you could finally get out of the hut and breathe cold air, taking long breaths not to give in and cry right there.
Tul'pey’s hand landed on your shoulders and looked slightly worried. "Ma yawne, is everything okay?" he said, as if he hadn’t just witnessed your silent ordeal. "Does that sound good to you?" Maybe your tone was more sour than you wanted it to be. "Not for a second did you think about changing the subject? To get your parents to talk about something other than the differences between me and my dead sister?!" "Ma yawne, you know how they are… If they start with something it is difficult for them to change topics. If you felt uncomfortable you could-"you stopped him with a wave of your hand, carrying your cold eyes his. "I could what? They are your parents Tul'pey! Yours! They humiliated me all the time, trying to be nice just because Ikeyni is my mother and they can’t afford to offend me. They said embarrassingly that I was only important to my blood, without even saying it directly. I’ll be your future partner and you won’t even try to take my side." You abruptly removed the boy’s hand from your shoulder, backing indignantly. "You know they were fond of Ney'nari, there is no malice in their words," his voice lowered slightly, turning his face to the side so as not to look you in the eye. "Them? and I don’t? Ney'nari is my blood. My loss is deeper than yours and theirs. That’s no excuse to let your parents insult me like that." Your teeth clenched as you growled your words against Tul'pey
"You don’t know what you’re talking about. I loved your sister, and they loved Ney'nari as much as I did. It makes sense for them to compare you to her." "Logical? Because she was better than me, is that what you want me to understand Tul'pey?" You asked pushing him slightly. "She was… her. And you are you," he said with an obvious knot in his throat, as if it hurt to talk about it. "At least have the courage to tell me what you think in the face." You pushed him again, disappointed by his behavior. "Ma Yawne, she was just… better. You know she was…. But I never blamed you." Your eyes looked disgusted. "It had to be a fault to be less than my sister? right? Do you think I don’t know? I don’t feel the clan’s expectations about me? Look me in the eye when I talk to you Tul'pey te Sxyie Akwey'itan." His eyes finally met yours. "Y/n, stop it. You’re acting like a child, which is why my parents prefer you and compare you to Ney'nari, she-" your hand met his cheek with a violence you had never presented. "How dare you… HOW YOU FUCKING DARE." You said by starting to growl at him and push him back with all the strength you had in your body. " Who do you think you are to address me like this?! Childish? Do you know who you’re talking to? Do you know how much I had to work to cover her absence? And you’re so light on the subject because 'you loved her'." you said mocking him in a derogatory way. "I loved my sister. I’m the one who couldn’t shed tears on her body. I! Not you. Did you love her? Then why weren’t you there when she died! WHERE YOU WERE TUL'PEY WHILE I WAS DRAGGING MY SISTER’S DYING BODY?! Where was 'your love'." Your fiery eyes and your poisoned and sharp tongue, while the boy could only flinch at every push.
"I was always there and only ME in her darkest moments, because you were 'too hurt' or away from her. When you found out about her death, you just ran away and came back at the best moment, you didn’t love me and you didn’t love h-." The flow of words coming out of you stopped when Tul'pey’s hand hit your cheek hard, turning your face to the side. "You’re just a child, y/n. You were with her, but she died anyway. I loved Ney'nari, I loved everything about her. That’s why I agreed to mate with you, not just because Tsahik talked. If it were up to me, I wouldn’t even look at you like that. That doesn’t mean you can now raise your voice and act like this. You are the future Olo'eyktan, but you still have to respect me, it is your duty to respect your mate. So now calm down." Tul'pey’s voice scratched your eardrums as you withdrew tears with all your heart so as not to make you weak in front of him. Na'vi’s body collided with yours, looking down at you. "Please, don’t make me be like this, not with you." he said harshly as he lifted up your face with strength, taking you from your jaw. You spit in his face and then growl, pulling away from him. "Don’t you ever touch me again. Or I swear to Eywa it will be the last thing you do with both hands attached to your body." You spit on the ground before you turn around and take long breaths. Tul'pey looked at you and then wiped his face and punched a tree.
You arrived home after half an hour of taking to release the tension accumulated in your body, you let some tears turn your face while nobody looked at you, taking long breaths. Before entering the hut you settled in in the best way, making sure you didn’t have shiny eyes or signs that could betray the fake smile you would flaunt to your parents, hoping you could deceive their eyes. Once inside you saw too many heads of unknown shoulders, sitting on the carpet and unfamiliar voices exchanging words, you could only distinguish Neteyam because of the perfume that was stored in your nose. Your parents turned and smiled and welcomed you into the middle of that little big circle, you distinguished Jake Sully and Neytiri, which made you accidentally stand at attention. "Ma Neytiri, she’s Y/n. When you arrived I didn’t get to introduce you properly." your mother’s voice was sweet and friendly, while the other Na'vi’s smile seemed strangely comforting as she carried a hand to her forehead and then pointed at you, a gesture you reluctantly reciprocated. "Ma Eywa… now that I see her, she’s become a beautiful young woman. I still remember when she couldn’t even stand up" she said and then laid her hands on your face gently. His touch was similar to that of Neteyam, sweet and attentive, as if she didn’t want to cause you any pain. "Thank you, Neytiri te Tskaha Mo'at'ite" Your tone was slightly low, almost blown as you waited for her to take her hands off your face. What she did once she saw your reluctance.
You looked for the eyes of Neteyam that immediately gave you a sense of comfort and security, as if it spurred you to approach Neytiri. You knew he had a stronger connection to her than he did to Jake, and on the one hand he reassured you that he was closer to an original Na'vi. "Ma syulang, only Neytiri. Your mother is a sister to me, no need to be so formal" her eyes were kind as they looked at you, they seemed sincere, but when you looked away and met the eyes of Toruk Makto, a shiver ran through your back. "Ma Jake, you make her uncomfortable when you look at her like that." the woman continued, following your gaze and gently scolding her partner. He greeted you in the same way that Neytiri did just before, and before you reciprocated you had to swallow and once again look for the look of Neteyam, who once again encouraged you in silence to let go. You held your breath and then returned the greeting "Excuse me, I didn’t mean to make the future Olo'eykte uncomfortable" now that he was speaking awkwardly in Na'vi and smiling at you in embarrassment you could start breathing again. You looked at him without feeling disgust or fear, nodding timidly before answering. "There’s no need for Toruk Makto to apologize to me," you whispered slightly embarrassed, while Neytiri watched his partner as if to force him to say something. It made you smile at the resemblance to Neteyam who was doing the same to you. "Jake is ok, call me Jake," he said, looking away and taking him to little Na'vi who was sitting on Neteyam’s lap. "Sorry my husband, he is awkward when he has to talk to the young Na'vi" Neytiri’s voice reassured you, making you nod slightly.
In the first hour there were some discussions between adults, about clans and everyday life, normal talks between friends. You were still reluctant to talk to Jake and preferred to answer Neytiri and her questions about your life; while a game of looks began and continued between you and Neteyam, as if you two could only understand with your eyes. You could see that from time to time a Na'vi like Neteyam, but with five fingers, hit him slightly and seemed to tease him. "Ma Tsmuke, you remember when we wanted Neteyam and y/n to be a mated couple?" Your mother said laughing as Neytiri followed her laugh and nodded. You instinctively blushed, choking on the water you were drinking, looking away from Neteyam to bring it to your mother, embarrassed by those words. "Ma Ikeyni, how to forget. She would have been a perfect Tsahik for Neteyam. Too bad the winds have changed" Neytiri admitted, remembering when you and Neteyam were so young that you didn’t even remember your mothers' wishes. You could feel the boy’s look on you, imagining he was smiling amused by the situation. "I… I’m going to get more Spartan fruit," you said noting that the tray was finished. "Neteyam, please go with her, to bring drink too," said your mother, looking at the boy who promptly nodded and followed you out of the hut.
You stood in silence as you walked toward him in the great hut that served as a storehouse for village food. Neteyam followed you inside and once you closed the curtain, you blushed feeling his warm hands on your hips behind you, only to feel his lips leaving small kisses on your neck. "Neteyam…" you whispered laughing, putting your hands on his. " Come on, stop. This is a common hut, anyone could come in…" you bit your lip, hearing a small groan from Neteyam. "I’m just letting you relax, you’re so tense, ma Tanhi. What’s going on?" His sweet voice made you shiver down your spine, because of his hot breath colliding on your skin. His hands held you still attached to his body, while he continued with the sweet kisses that made you relax slightly. "Hmm, nothing 'Teyam… just a little stress" you whispered back, feeling his smile against your skin. "I like 'Teyam, call me that more often like this, ma Tanhi" You turned around and found yourself face to face with Neteyam. "Why stress? you were fine before I let you go away." one of his hands moved between your hair, stroking the soft braids. "Heavy meeting with Tul'pey’s parents, nothing special." Your eyes met and he smiled softly, most likely he understood that there was something you were not telling him, but he respected your choice without making you weigh anything.
"Then… It’s a sign that you got along with my mother and a little with my father" You rolled your eyes, making him laugh as he laid his hands on your face and his tail wrapped around your leg. "Your father speaks Na'vi in a strange way, he makes a lot of mistakes and I don’t understand when he speaks that strange language" you replied, making him laugh. "He does his best to make himself understood. If you need an interpreter I’ll sit next to you and translate what you don’t understand" His tone was now slightly mischievous and led you to hit his forehead. "No, I don’t need to understand the language of the d-" you unknowingly stopped to correct "humans" Neteyam moved his hands over your neck while biting his lip, noticing that you no longer used "Demons" to describe his father and his language.
Minutes passed and you found yourself inexplicably sitting on one of the wooden tables of the hut, with Neteyam standing between your legs as you kissed with ardor. His hands fondling and longingly touching your skin, while his tail tickled your leg slowly, making you arch your back against his chest. Your hands between his braids, panting between his lips as you prayed that one of his hands would fall between your legs. Neteyam’s lips fell down your neck, leaving more kisses, refraining from leaving marks that would have sparked unwanted attention for now. You bit your lip while he kept touching you and coming down to your collarbones. Now his fingers were digging into your back, holding you close to him as he felt hard because of your wheezing that hit his ears and made his heart pump blood directly between his legs. His erection pressed against your groin, creating little thrills of pleasure that made you want to hear more.
"Oh. Ma. Eywa. Neteyam?! Y/n?!" The voice of the one you recognized as Lo'ak's had led Neteyam to break away from you, while you blushed down from the table and rearranged yourself as best you could. The boy in front of you looked at you with shock and fun, pointing his finger at each other. "It’s not what it seems!" you said embarrassed and then senitre lo'ak laugh and clap. "To me it looks exactly as it seems" Your eyes sought Neteyam’s help, noticing that he was laughing with his brother. You hit him on the arm trying not to bury yourself in shame. "I now understand those scratches and hickeys," the boy continued. "How fortunate that I came, Tsentey was coming for you." Lo'ak continued to laugh, almost to the point of crying. "Oh ma Eywa, i cant't! And our parents, who were worried about you, thought that something had happened to you, but you two were just-" Neteyam blocked him by closing his mouth before he could say something that made you even more uncomfortable, dragging him out of the hut while you collected the supplies you had come for.
"Not a word with Mother or Father. Not a word," Neteyam said, looking at Lo'ak who continued to laugh amused by the situation. "Now I understand why you said 'you are still learning here', with a teacher like y/n I would also be a perennial student" Neteyam’s hand hit the back of Lo'ak’s head. " Bro, with all the girls in the village you pulled the chief’s daughter, who's also the future Olo'eykte and is already mated. This shit is worse than anything I’ve done in 18 years." Lo'ak continued, looking at his older brother. "I know, I know. But it happened, okay?" Neteyam replied, passing a hand through his hair, understanding what Lo'ak meant by that look. "Does she know?" Lo'ak’s tone became serious for a moment. "No, not yet. I’ll tell her about that when the time comes. " "Our father will skin you alive, bro" said the youngest. " Probably…" The conversation turned to the end.

Then why did your heart beat so fast at the thought of his eyes in love and enchanted as he looked at yours?
The morning came too early for your taste, the sea breeze and the sun’s rays forced you to wake up in a bad mood. A long sigh came out of your mouth when you remembered that today you were going to go to the Omatikaya clan, already feeling the pains in your stomach that made you regret even waking up.
You got up off the carpet, hearing your mother’s voice calling you already impatiently, almost certainly as she loaded her personal belongings on her Ikran, yelling at your father to do the same. You took advantage of the fact that Ikeyni seemed focused on yelling at your father to take a few minutes to eat some fruit and sneak out, to go say goodbye to Uleyte.
"Where do you think you’re going? Come back here and start loading your ikran." Your mother’s voice prevented you from implementing your escape plan, you sighed heavily before nodding and doing as she had asked.
For the next twenty minutes you loaded your items on your Ikran, doing everything slowly and unwillingly, hoping your mother would change her mind and tell you to stay home, but she didn’t. She turned her back on you by continuing to do what she was doing, not wanting to know of any protest or request to stay. Once the Ikran were ready, Uleyte had come to greet you and wish you a safe journey, much like the whole village.
Your friend took you aside before you left, taking you away from where the elders and clan were wishing a safe journey under Eywa’s protection.
"Are you all right? Are you ready?" she asked, caressing your face with kindness, noticing your little hidden expression of sadness.
"No and no, I don’t want to see him but I can’t avoid him either. I have a plan, I’m going to be the mature person who doesn’t suffer for him anymore." Your voice was pretty convincing, even though your heart knew perfectly well that it would screw up all your plans.
"Are you sure? I already have some things packed, I’m ready to get on Yìmkxa and follow you. You still have time to ask me" The girl’s words made you laugh and hugged her.
"Don’t worry, I’ll be fine." You answered and then you saw Uleyte take your face and put her forehead on yours. " Really, I’ll be fine," you whispered and smiled.
"May Eywa protect you, I will pray for you. If that Sully makes you suffer, I swear to you, I’ll learn to ride an Ikran and I’ll smack his ass." she said dramatically, only to smile and look you in the eye, leaving on your hand a band woven with the colors of the clan and small green leaves.
"Thank you…" you said with a thread of voice, then hugged her again, holding her with affection and holding the jewel. Feeling a gust of wind wrapped around your back, smiling gently, thinking that that was Ney'nari joining the embrace, just like when you were younger.
You broke away from the hug, when your mother called you from her Ikran, making you sigh before saying goodbye to your friend and return to your ikran. You put on the sash before you climbed on Yìmkxa and followed your parents in flight, noticing at the end Tul'pey watching you from afar, then turning around and going. Yet another sigh came out of your mouth as you walked with your family to the clan that had now become your worst nightmare, even though you would have liked to see Tuk, Kiri and even Lo'ak again, even though he looked like a total idiot.
The hours in flight passed faster than you thought and you watched your clan get further and further away, welcoming the land of the Omatikaya with wonder, noticing how the forest was enchanting, totally different from how you could admire it from the coastal area. Your family landed on the Omatikaya ground when the eclipse was already disappearing into the sky leaving room for the night, immediately noticing how the main village was welcoming you with much warmth.
You felt uncomfortable to see all those Na'vi who greeted you holding their hands to their foreheads and then pointing at you, returning the gesture immediately after your parents, looking at the people in front of you who opened the way for you to pass. You noticed how your mother’s pace accelerated when she saw Neytiri coming at her, hugging her with affection, while Jake formally greeted your family. Next to them you saw Kiri, Lo'ak and Tuk, but not Neteyam, you didn’t know whether to be happy or not, but a small gap in your heart made itself felt.
Tuktirey was the first to greet you, hugging you affectionately, emulating your mothers, this made you smile as you returned the little girl’s embrace.
"Have you grown taller these past few months? Soon you will reach me" you said playfully, making her laugh as you ruffled the pigtails in her head, while Kiri simply greeted you formally as Lo'ak. In the glances of the two older brothers you could notice some note of displeasure, making you realize that they probably both knew how you were emotionally.
"And you’ve become even more beautiful! Even your clothes are so beautiful!" Tuk’s voice made you smile again, she was really a sweet and kind girl, who did not miss the opportunity to give voice to her innocent and sincere thoughts.
The three young Sullys helped your family settle in one of the empty tree houses, very different from your clan’s wooden huts. You thanked the three brothers and for a few hours you spoke, while they took you out of the house to be eaten throughout the clan as was tradition. You would lie in saying that you had not sought Neteyam’s eyes among people or his perfume, but in this case you did not find them, his person around you seemed so absent.
"He can’t get out of the hut, it’s a tradition that the future Olo'eyktan stays alone in the Tsahik's hut" Lo'ak whispered to you, noticing that you were looking for something with your eyes. You were already fighting back. "I know you were looking for him, don’t pretend" he continued, making you sigh heavily before eating a steamed teylu.
"I didn’t ask" you snorted while you were eating.
"But you were looking for an answer, I just gave it to you." You turned to him, like you wanted to ask for something else, but you shut up before talking, knowing there was no point in raising your hopes.
"Thank you, but I didn’t need it." You whispered and then noticed the look of understanding that Lo'ak turned to you.
Lo'ak and Kiri could see from your eyes the same feeling of despondency that Neteyam had in these months without you. They knew that you both wanted each other and also understood your duties as future leaders of your respective clans, what they did not understand was why your parents did not come against you or why they seemed so blind to your unhappiness. When Jake announced the impending mating between Neteyam and Reyin'al, the Sullys' older brother had been desperate to have more time, he wanted to keep his promise to you, returning to you after some time, apologizing. The only one to understand it immediately was Neytiri who tried to convince her husband to give him more time. Neteyam had spent the days before her forced mating praying and meditating, looking for Eywa to beg her to take you back to him, if only to make you feel his apology.
After a few minutes of talking to Kiri and Lo'ak, an elderly Na'vi approached you, making herself known as "grandmother" thanks to Tuk who had greeted her. She asked you to follow her and you nodded, moving from the ground to follow her to an open house, where on the ground there was a young Na'vi that you recognized for the smell.
You rolled your eyes and noticed that Na'vi was Reyin'al. The old woman sat you next to her and looked at you. "Y/n te Skxumew Ikeyni'ite, as the last earthly guide of the future Olo'eyktan you are called to speak with the Tsakarem Reyin'al te Sxeke Ninat'ite, to guide her spiritually and mentally towards the great rite"The old Tsahìk, Mo'at, dismissed without too much ceremony, closing the curtain behind her. Your heart stopped beating as your lungs threatened to let you choke.
"There is nothing I can say about Neteyam more than one of his brothers can." You said after collecting as much air and security to look strong.
"You’ve been with my mate for over a month, you can tell me something more about him." Her sour voice made you doubt that she was the daughter of the singer of the Omatikaya clan.
"Is an exceptional Na'vi. He excels at everything he does, but I think you know that better than I do, because you grew up with him" Your tone became just as acidic, while a sharp tension was created in the air. She looked at you thinning her eyes, just like Pandora’s predators did before attacking their prey.
"These are things I already know, my mate is great at everything. He also told me about his lessons… with you." Reyin'al spit out the last part with poison, as if the thought of Neteyam with you burned in her mouth.
She had noticed how Neteyam spoke of you, describing you as exceptional, an excellent guide, a kind friend and admirable Leader, she had never heard him say a bad word about you. She smelled the situation, but she knew that Na'vi men were having fun with many women before mating through Tsaheylu with one woman.
He still remembered that 'Ma Tanhì' said when you asked Neteyam who she was, the way Neteyam seemed to fall apart after seeing you leave, and then run after you despite her trying to hold him back. She hated the moment they left and he wouldn’t stop looking back, or how he had waited for you to return to his hut until the last. She knew that you were something more than a teacher to him, but she could not afford to raise charges against the future Olo'eykte of a clan as powerful as the Tayrangi, best known for their skills in riding the Banshees and hunting.
"Like I said, he’s a Na'vi who excels at everything he does. He was a very good student." Your voice was cold, while you supported his predatory gaze with your indifferent, you did not intimidate Reyin'al in the slightest and she noticed.
"Then it is a good thing that he chose wisely to anticipate the rite of Tsaheylu with me. It was months away, but after he came home two months ago, he decided to cut it short. I guess I should thank you." Her words stabbed you in the chest without even expecting it. It was difficult for you to keep your face as indifferent as possible, because inside you a new piece of your soul was torn.
"There’s nothing to thank. I didn’t do anything." Reyin'al smiled at you with disdain before answering you.
"But you have done a lot. Don’t think I don’t know." At these words you looked at her, feeling the bitterness in your throat, as if it were poison.
"What would you know?" You asked, as your eyes tapered like hers, the only difference being that your eyes were more endearing, and she reassembled.
"That surely in your clan he will have fun with some woman, it is normal for Omatikaya men to have moments of leisure away from home." Her tone was mean, just like her eyes. "Of course I gave him permission for all this, you know how the guys are, but then he came back to me. He was so happy to come home, come back in my arms. He could no longer stay away from me" you looked at her with indifference, as you derealized what she was saying. "After all, I am his mate, I’ll be the one to bind myself to him and his soul tomorrow. For this, I thank you. You guided my soulmate wisely."
You took a deep breath before nodding, accepting her thanks, knowing there was something unsaid. "I only did my duty." You hissed
"You are too modest. You guided my soulmate on the right path, he returned home healthy and stronger. It’s no small feat, though I’m sure he’s had his affairs with some skank. You know, Neteyam had always been in love with me and he suffered so much from my lack that the first day when he came home we…you know. He was so passionate and engaging" his tone getting increasingly mean to you, you knew she was doing it on purpose. But the thought of Neteyam doing the same thing to you hurt so much. " He also started calling me 'Tanhi', He says I shine like a star, that’s why he calls me so. It’s something he said when we were kids, I’m so glad he remembered."
The heart fell into your stomach, being dissolved in the acids that were contained in that place. Neteyam called that woman what he called you, it hurt you, your bleeding wounds now seemed to result in hemorrhage. "I’m glad." you hissed before you got up from the tappet to get away from her.
"Don’t you wish me a safe path with my soulmate Neteyam? it is tradition." She smiled mean while watching you get up from the ground. Reyin'al waited for the blessing, noticing how your eyes revealed a veil of pain you were trying to hide. "May Eywa protect your path." You said clenched teeth, noticed her proud smile and winning posture before heading out of the hut.
You took a long, deep breath to hold back what looked like tears of pain, starting to walk to the opposite point from which you had arrived. You hated how you were feeling, you knew that maybe it was a lie, but there was that worm in your head that told you it wasn’t a lie. Why did she have to lie? Surely Neteyam did not tell her that they had had intimate moments, so why not believe her? But at the same time your heart screamed that you had to believe in him
Your heart hurt again, as if small needles were slowly puncturing it, causing you to feel pain, but you could not scream from the pain due to large throat knots. Unknowingly you found yourself in front of a closed hut but that had an unquestionable perfume, he was there.
You would have liked to see him, but at the same time you preferred not to. After two months you felt so close to him and the only thing you could do was lay your hand on the tent for a few seconds, along with your forehead, poisoning yourself with his sweet scent that was better than you remembered. You would have wanted to come in and look at his eyes as you convinced yourself that he was nobody, but your heart was beating so hard feeling his heart close again. You sighed once again before turning around and leaving, not knowing that Neteyam had felt youe presence too, but when he got up to open the tent it was too late to see you, so he thought it was just another joke of his mind.
It hurt, everything in you hurt, but in those few seconds that his perfume collided against your nose, it made you feel at home and calm. You were wondering if he really lied to you, all those promises, kisses, intimate moments, was it really all just fun?
You tried to buy yourself back, you couldn’t afford to collapse again, not in a place where everyone knew you like the next Tayrangi Olo'eykte, you would have been weak. And that’s how you swallowed your feelings, pulling the moments with Neteyam out of your mind and torturing yourself with Reyin'al’s words, it was good to know now, it would have been enough to convince you of the woman’s words and your heart would not have made a beat thinking of that boy who was not yours.
It took you some time before you found the right road to the house where you were staying with your parents, and when you found it you rushed in with the intention of going to sleep. Your mother told you a few things, but you ignored her words to keep your mind empty, nodding as if you were consenting to everything she said, then taking your things and going to sleep in those strange capsules that were the clan’s bed.
You prayed to Eywa to take away the pain, to strengthen you for the next day, and to protect your heart if you saw Neteyam, so as not to fall for him again. You closed your eyes, unknowingly seeking comfort in the necklace around your neck, forgetting that some threads are twisted belonged to Neteyam, feeling strangely better before falling asleep.
The day greeted you in a way too tortuous for you, the air was so intrinsic of happiness around you, hearing some Na'vi preparing the village for the big event. You could understand their joy, after all the eldest son of Olo'eyktan was going to take his place, and lead the clan in a new era of prosperity and peace under the gentle hand of the Great Mother.
You opened your eyes, cursing yourself for waking up one more time, hoping that for some strange reason the capsule would fall, but unfortunately for you it wasn’t.
You climbed to the platform where there were already many Na'vi coming and going with some decorative objects or delicacies for the banquet that would take place immediately after the main event. Formal and ceremonial clothes adorned the slender bodies of the tribe, and guests from other clans, reminding you that you too should have prepared to honor the new couple who would be your clan’s ally, but there was no joy in your heart, only bitterness and sadness. These feelings increased when you noticed Reyin'al coming out of Ninat’s tent, dressed in a charming manner that almost looked like Eywa's daughter. The long black braids were adorned with jewels typical of the Omatikaya, with some feathers that you recognized as those of Neteyam and his family, her face was radiant and bold as she walked through the village to return to her tent, drawing everyone’s attention and eyes on her. You envied her then.
Lucky for you your mother Ikeyni found you with a speed and ease that reminded you why she was recognized as a great hunter and observer, she took you from her arm and then dragged you to the house where you were staying, to get ready. She wasted no time and arranged your braids, picking them up slightly and putting some items representing the Tayrangi clan before sending you to change with your dissent.
"Mother, the ceremony will begin later. Don’t rush me, nobody’s waiting for me" You snorted while wearing ceremonial clothes that strangely were so complicated and full of draperies. They remembered the nets your clan used to fish, while the loincloth cloth was draped in such a way as to simulate the waves, but thanks to the light breeze it seemed to emulate something vaguely like the wind.
"Ma 'ite, of course they are waiting for you. I told you about it yesterday, Mo'at asked that the teacher of Neteyam prepare him with tribal painting as a last step lesson, from student to Olo'eyktan. You said 'yes', so they are waiting for you now" Hearing your mother’s words you opened your eyes wide and walked out of the corner where you were changing.
"Me what? No. Why me? II have not accepted anything. And then, even dad taught and trained Neteyam, why does he not do it?" Your voice revealed a slight panic and exasperation. You couldn’t believe the one time you didn’t listen to your mother, she asked you to do this. It felt like Eywa was starting to play with you again, or your sister was trying to help you again, and at that moment you remembered the speech he gave to her two months earlier.
"Because I asked you, if you had told me 'no', I would have asked Tsentey. But you said yes, and I told Mo'at and the Sully family" She said, and then she smiled at you in those clothes. "You already look like the Olo'eykte Tayrangi. Today will be your time to be the face of the clan" Her sweet voice made you breathe heavily.
You didn’t feel like making a fuss and going against your own word, if you had retreated back, your word would never have been taken seriously by anyone. You looked at your mother’s eyes, full of pride as she saw you wearing those clothes that fully represented your clan and your status.
"Your sister sewed this dress a long time ago, she said she would give it to you on the day of your social debut as the future Tsahik, as she said that you would be the spiritual voice of the clan…now you wear it to represent the Tayrangi as the future Olo'eykte and Tsakarem" as if the memory of Ney'nari were hurting her, in fact she never spoke of her.
"Me? Tsahik? I was so rebellious and unmanageable, how could she think I would be a good spiritual guide?" You said laughing bitterly at the memory. Ironic how even your clothes reminded you of your sister, it seemed like she was doing everything to remind you of that Tsaheylu argument.
"You were, but she said that your soul was deeply connected to Eywa, even if you didn’t participate in the rites, you ran into the forest or the sea and connected to the native animals. She convinced me that you would become a great Tsahik, but look at you here… My little girl will be Olo'eykte" She caressed your face gently, and glimpsed in your eyes a bit of the spiritual essence of Ney'nari, making her smile. "Now go, you’re already late and I still have to get ready." she said before she left you. You knew she was about to cry over Ney'nari’s memories and you left her alone, knowing she didn’t like to be seen in moments of fragility like that.
The dress felt like it was giving you warmth and strength, so you thought your request last night had been answered this way, 'a protection for the heart if I had seen Neteyam'. Now you were going to see it and you were squeezing into those fabrics that let you wear your sister’s warm embrace.
When you arrived at the Sullys' house, Neytiri greeted you with a kind hug, and then formally greeted you. She was charming, her clothes worthy of a Tsakarem, colorful and refined, while her body presented some paint marks that recalled the colors of the Omatikaya clan.
"Ma yawntutsyìp, you are wonderful. It seems that you have already taken your mother’s place" Neytiri’s gentle hands caressed your face, touch and sweet and warm.
"You are wonderful too, ma Tsakarem," you laughed slightly, noticing how her gaze fell on yours, reminding you that she wanted to be called by her name. "Ma Neytiri" this time she smiled, then called Tuktirey.
The little girl showed up with a deep bowl that contained white paint, mother and daughter accompanied you to Neteyam who was a bundle of nerves inside his tent. He stood with his back as his hands leaned on what appeared to be a table or shelf with some clothes on it that he should wear. Your hands trembled, just to see him from behind was taking your breath away
"Ma'itan, it’s time to get ready…" Neytiri politely said, as she had Tuk put the bowl on one of the furniture that were there, and then sent her to Jake to get ready. Neteyam turned around, ready to respond negatively to his mother, but remained silent when he saw you, enchanted.
Time seemed to slow, and your looks met, remaining enchanted by each other, it seemed like a lifetime ago since you saw those eyes for the last time. His eyes held a veil of sadness but there was something that made you realize that he was happy to see you but also sorry for something. Neytiri smiled as you reacted in that way, then quietly disappeared, leaving you two alone.
A thrill of excitement passed through your body. Your heart was beating faster and faster, as the butterflies in your stomach took flight creating a strange dance. You had the feeling that everything around you was fading, focusing only on him. As if the rest of Pandora is dissolving, leaving you two alone in an aura of magic and old promises.
The words got lost in your throat as you tried to breathe, to remember how to move and walk. Your senses are sharp, every detail of his face, his way of looking at you and moving seemed to have been eternally etched in your memory. His presence resonates within you, a sweet melody that makes every fiber of your being vibrate.
Your legs trembled as you approached him slowly, then carried a hand on your forehead and pointed out to greet him formally; the words intertwined in your mind as you tried to follow the plan you had studied so as not to fall back into his sweet trap.
"Sit down…" you whispered as you took the bowl that Tuk had left. Neteyam sat down and looked at you with so much adoration and nostalgia that for a second you almost thought that everything was back to the way it was. You felt a sense of déjà-vu as you sat in front of him, reminding you of the first time they had forced you to draw on his body for that distant holiday.
"You’re gorgeous…" Neteyam whispered in love, voicing his thoughts, watching you shuffle the paint inside the bowl with your fingers. At that moment all your defenses were dissolved, leaving room for a sense of vulnerability that overwhelmed you brutally. You felt like he opened a door in your heart, allowing all emotions to flow without restriction.
"Your partner is gorgeous." Your tone was slightly sad as you took the paint to begin the tribal blessing designs. The chemistry between you was palpable, and the mere encounter of looks seems to encompass a universe of meanings, which led you to look away from his cursed eyes.
"It doesn’t matter… It’s not her I’m looking at" he said without looking away from your face, while you drew the first line on his chest, feeling your fingers burning on him. At his words, you raised your eyes to meet his, for a moment you thought that nothing had changed and that you were still the same people who until a few months ago were kissing secretly in a shed, exchanging promises and talking about the future.
"You’ll see her soon, she’s very beautiful today, I saw her…" Your voice was nostalgic, you missed him so much. But talking about her was like eating a great dish, knowing it’d been poisoned.
"How are you?" he asked gently, changing the subject. His tone of voice was also evident in his nostalgia. He thought he was dreaming and that this was just a beautiful dream, shuddering at every touch accompanied by paint.
"Well, I'm fine… I’m preparing to become Olo'eykte and Tsahik… I’ll mate with Tul pey in four moons…" Your fingers did not stop working lines on his chest and shoulders, noticing with the corner of your eye his sad expression.
"Four moons…" he whispered, with disbelief and sadness "I-I’m glad you’re fine, ma Tanhi," you raised your face to hear that nickname you missed so much. Your eyes moved from his lips to his eyes, feeling that urge to kiss him and feel him again as yours.
"what about you? How are you?" Your voice was dying in your throat, you were kind of hoping he was sick today, just because he was gonna mate with Reyin'al.
"Nervous, I never thought I’d be here, on a day like this, to mate a woman I don’t feel like my own" he laughed nervously. "…It’s just… weird, that’s all."
You smiled softly at him, albeit with a slight tone of sadness, understanding where he was going. Your eyes passed through his entire body, following your fingers that traced lines and points on his torso and neck.
"Everything will be all right, the Great Mother looks up at you and protects you, ma 'Teyam" his face came up to yours and you felt his heart pounding wildly. Neteyam’s heart was beating faster and faster, He missed you so much, and he missed hearing you call him that.
"I would like the Great Mother to watch over me to follow this path with another woman." He sighed as his eyes pointed to your lips, "You… you don’t know how much I wanted to tell you before… That I’m sorry, for everything, Ma Tanhi. I-I swear. I should have told you about her, I was an skxawng"
A wave of heat enveloped you at those words, as your stomach filled with frantic butterflies dancing in a disorganized manner. Every breath became deeper and more difficult, as if just looking at him left you breathless. Your cheeks faded with a slight blush, while your thoughts falter between enthusiasm and uncertainty. A sweet and sudden feeling of lightness pervaded you, as if the chains of worry were melting.
The look you exchanged was full of contrasting emotions: passion and desire are intertwined with nostalgia and sadness of lost time. The air charged with an electrical voltage, a palpable energy that enveloped both of us after all that time. You could feel the presence of each other, the heat emanating from your bodies, as if there was an irresistible call that united you two. Your eyes attract like magnets, you peer each other, looking for clues and signs that confirm that everything you have shared in the past can still exist.
Each line of your faces bears the marks of the experiences you had experienced, but the sparks in your eyes reveal that the feelings you felt were still alive and present. The romantic tension and the weight of time spent were felt. Doubts and fears crept into your heart, like a cold wind caressing the flames. Old pains and past disappointments are scars that cannot be ignored. And so, in the midst of this dance of desire, you stood there, staring at his lips intensely, breathing suspended, while he did the same.
"I have to finish…" You said to then lay clean fingers on his chest, making him sit normally, while you continued to create drawings.
He looked at you enchanted, hoping that you understood how much he still craved you, not only carnally, he wanted all of you.
Your fingers began to draw lines and curves on his face, trying to resist the temptation to still taste his lips, and it was difficult because of his strong and sweet scent, but also because of the way his eyes burned with love on you.
The fear of suffering again, of putting at risk what was rebuilt after the separation, holds back your deepest instincts, you couldn’t give in right now.
"I missed you, ma Tanhi. Every night, every day, I missed you so much." He whispered, noticing the little distance between you, the tension became heavier and harder for both of you.
"Neteyam… you are going to make Tsaheylu with Reyin'al…" your fingers passed over his lips, making the last lines of the tribal blessing design.
"I don’t want Reyin'al" he said, brushing your fingers with his hand, smearing himself with paint while he couldn’t look away from you.
Before you could answer, Mo'at entered the room, and you instinctively walked away not to raise any suspicions.
"ma parultysip, are you finished?" asked old Tsakik, looking at you, and then smiling when you nodded.
"Yes, ma Tsahik." You stood up from the ground without looking at Neteyam, as you approached Tsahik to greet her formally. The woman puts a hand on your shoulder and dismisses you. For a second, before you left, you turned and your eyes met those of Neteyam who did not miss a single movement of yours.
A whirlwind of emotions erupted within you as memories of past love re-emerge in your mind. A mixture of happiness, excitement, and fear spreads through your body, making it difficult to control the visceral reactions that overwhelmed you. You sighed thinking how stupid you were, it was so clear you wanted him and you didn’t know if Neteyam really wanted you or was just playing.
Acquitted in your thoughts you clashed with Kiri, who held you from your arms to keep you from falling. "Hey. Y/n, but where’s your mind?" she asked, looking at you, checking if you were okay.
"Oh, I’m sorry, I’m just distracted." You said you’d pull yourself together and look at the girls in front of you.
"The ceremony starts soon, I know you don’t want to… but we have to go, it’s the other way. Follow me" Kiri took your hand and led you to the opposite side of the village, meeting again Neteyam who was to go with Mo'at from the opposite side to yours, he was dressed in traditional clothes that the Olo'eyktan wore before being recognized as such. You passed by, but your hands searched silently, stretching some fingers, as if they were attracted by a magnetic force, barely touched each other. You two felt the contact, light but full of meaning, that triggers electric shocks along the skin. It is as if an inner fire is burning within you, fueled by the memories of the past and the awareness that this moment could be the beginning of something new. And then let you go, you drag by Kiri and him to his grandmother.
When you arrived at the sacred place where all the clan and guests had already gathered, you sat in the second row, along with Kiri and Lo'ak, already seeing Reyin'al standing in front of the Tree of Souls. She looked at you defiantly, with the same eyes of those who were winning both the war and the battle, seeing you so close to the tree made her happy, because you would see that Neteyam had chosen her.
When Neteyam reached her you felt a squeeze in your heart and Lo'ak offered you his hand to shake if you needed it, remaining silent and respecting your pain. Every word of the Tsaheylu rite stabbed you in the heart, and with it you shook Lo'ak’s hand ever stronger.
"Oel ngati kameye, ma Neteyam," Reyin'al said as she took her braid very theatrically, glancing at you to make sure you saw it.
Neteyam remained silent for a few seconds, feeling the pressure on him and the look of Jake burning on his skin, hoping that he would do nothing foolish, while Neytiri hoped that her baby would become a man and follow his heart.
Neytiri understood that you and Neteyam had something similar to what she and Jake had had, she understood that since she first saw you together. In fact, she sent Lo'ak instead of Tsutey to check where you and Neteyam ended up that night in the shed.
A mother feels and understands her children even before they understand each other, so in the months when he had returned home, she did everything to help him and encourage him to follow his heart. After all, she was the one who raised her kids by telling them about her love story with Jake Sully.
Neytiri was shaking Jake’s hand while mentally encouraging his first son to make the right choice, and was slightly disappointed when she saw Neteyam take his braid. She was waiting for him to put it back, and then she saw you on the other side. You shook Lo'ak’s hand, grieving, while Kiri gently scratched your back.
Seen from the outside, no one would ever suspect that you were suffering, after all you were rigid and composed, but those little details didn’t escape her.

Notes II:
This is officially the penultimate chapter, it tears my heart. Anyway, I’m trying not to hate Reyin'al, but I can’t </3

"He took you from your hips and led you to rest your head on his chest, and then covered you with a light blanket that was just below you. " You said 'only this time', then I want to have the full experience" You sighed deeply to his words and nodded closing your eyes, falling asleep with the lullaby of the beats of his heart.
Neteyam could not help but stay a few minutes to contemplate your body next to him, not in a sexual or erotic sense, but only with adoration.
He took the time to print the picture of you sleeping on his chest, and your face relaxed as he held you close to him, before following you into the dream world."
The next morning the morning rays of light entered the room, striking your face and making you complain, still sleepy. You tried to turn on the right side, but Neteyam’s arm was holding you tight to his chest, you opened one eye when you noticed that the light no longer struck you, noticing how his hand was shadowing you to keep you awake.
"Shhh, go back to sleep, ma Tanhì" he whispered softly, making you turn around as you please, without letting you escape from his arms; you gave him your back looking for sleep again, while Neteyam’s body tried to cover you from the sun’s rays.
His face found place a few inches from your hair, sniffing your sweet perfume smiling silently as he held you to him, noticing how your body was relaxed against his. He would have wanted to be stuck in this moment for eternity, holding you to him without the fear of having to see you leave once you wake up completely.
You turned in his direction, staying face to face, your noses touching and your breaths mixing in the air. Neteyam’s eyes were stuck in yours as his fingers played with some strands of your hair, with a sweetness and innocence that made your heart beat. You didn’t know how to start the conversation, even though your eyes spoke more than your mouths could.
The smile of Na'vi warmed your soul, the morning made it even more beautiful and ethereal.
"Good morning, ma Tanhi" he whispered, sliding on your cheek the hand that was previously in your hair and stroking them with such sweetness.
"Good morning." You responded by slightly yawning, while taking a few seconds to admire yourself again. "I-I should go… it’s already morning" you started talking after those seconds where you swam in those golden pools that were his eyes.
"Should you?" his knuckles now caressed your cheekbone. "Yes, I have to… My parents would freak out if they didn’t find me after all these hours of absence" your voice had an inexplicably sad tone, you didn’t know why now it made you sick to think of getting away from him after all this time constantly avoiding him.
"Oh, I forgot… you’ve already-" you blocked him out of talking. "I already have an excuse, yes. they are more or less accustomed to my night escapes" You answered before you sit and feel only now the small twinges in your stomach and legs because of the night before. Neteyam laughed at the scene before receiving a quick glance from you.
"You’re not funny. I hope it come to you too." You admitted just before you felt Neteyam’s arm make you lay again, before you could complain he put his hand where you felt the twinges, starting to gently massage. Surprisingly after a few minutes the pains subsided and you felt only a pinch every now and then.
"Is it better?" he asked without moving his hand from your belly, receiving a sign of approval from your head. "A little" you whispered a few inches from his face, the desire to kiss him grew again in you and you had to abruptly detach from him to stop the temptation.
You picked up your clothes from the ground and changed in front of him, immediately after having cleaned as much as possible with some wet rags; noticing how he had given you his back immediately after you got off the ground.
"There’s nothing you haven’t seen, whether you look or not is not a problem." You said while you were cleaning with a wet cloth the paint totally smudged on your body.
"It’s a sign of respect, I won’t look at your naked body unless you give me consent" he said without turning around.
"Are you acting like a prince after everything that happened yesterday?" Your tone was amused as you dressed.
"If it’s you? yes, always." his words made you blush slightly and you thanked Eywa that he was still behind.
You approached him, sat by his side, and then took a deep breath. "About yesterday…"
"I already know that. 'It won’t happen again', you’ve repeated it so many times that-" he stopped once you kissed him right after he turned, laying a few fingers under his chin.
"No, it was just…nice." you said after you walked away from his lips. He blushed cheeks and wide-open eyes as they looked at you incredulously, remaining silent as he saw you standing to get out of his hut.
"I’ll call you in about two hours, be ready, lessons will be in the water today." your voice cut off when you left the hut without turning to him.
You walked home, while your hands were joined at chest height, you didn’t even notice you had lost one of the necklaces you had been wearing since you were only 13. The pendant that was in the center of the jewel was the tusk of the first Palulukan that you killed (in defense), along with your sister, so it was a dear memory that you had never lost.
Once you got home you noticed the Olo'eykte and your father waiting for you sitting on the carpet, your mother obviously upset in Tsentey’s arms, while ranting about something you weren’t sure you wanted to understand. When Ikeyni noticed you he moved from the arms of his companion and approached you, observing your body and taking your face.
"Ma Oare! Where have you been? We’ve been looking all night. Uleyte said you left the party early. We were worried about you, ma 'ite." she said and then embraced you.
"I was in the forest… I spent the night with Yìmkxa" the excuse would have held for sure, as you used to go out for a long time with your Ikran Yìmkxa.
Your mother looked you in the eye and noticed that there was something strange, a new glow, perhaps a new side of you that had rediscovered itself; but even this time she preferred not to say anything and simply nod. She also noticed the absence of paint from your body and looked the other way, only to dismiss you and send you to change and rest if you needed it.
Ikeyni’s eyes met Tsentey’s, exchanging silent words as you walked between them to go to rest. Once you were alone, as your parents came out of the hut, you sat on the carpet that was the bed and smiled slightly, touching your skin and remembering the night before.
One side of you knew you were wrong, Tul'pey would become your mate, but the times you joined him carnally you had never felt the feelings you had with Neteyam in one night. You still felt his warm breath on your neck, his arms wrapped around your body that morning and the little detail of his hand that sheltered you from the sun still made your heart beat so fast. You eagerly tried to stop smiling and reminding yourself that you shouldn’t have felt all this for him, feeling guilty about yourself.
You rested for the following hours, then got dressed and walked out of the hut, already noticing Neteyam outside your hut. A big, sweet smile as he looked at you in silence, you looked away and walked past him to the beach, where half the clan was already fishing or doing their work at sea. You took the Omatikayan to a little more secluded part, making it sit next to you on the sand.
"What’s your breath like?" You asked as you approached him, watching him wait for an answer.
"Good? Imh…I don’t know, I have great stamina." His gaze passed from your eyes to your lips, and then ended up on your chest, causing him to blush slightly before looking away.
"You didn’t do Apnea, did you?" Your eyes tried so desperately to just stand on his face, but the marks you left on his body were like art on canvas, simply to be admired.
"No, never" Neteyam’s voice was slightly lost, perhaps without air.
You nodded "Take long deep breaths" you said before laid your hands on his belly and chest. "You need to slow his heart rate." You said when you noticed Neteyam’s rapid heartbeat, "Inhale… Breathe from down here. Exhale slowly." you sighed heavily before pressing the palm of your hand on his stomach "Neteyam, your heartbeat is fast, too fast. Try to concentrate." Your eyes met those of Neteyam, whom you noticed were already standing on your face long before you noticed.
"I’m trying to concentrate, but it’s hard if you’re so close," his voice was soft and slightly low as he approached your face.
"Work harder, with your pulse so fast and low concentration you risk fainting in the water." You drifted slightly away from him, trying to stay as professional as possible.
It took about five hours to teach him to breathe properly.
"The sea is the home of Tayrangi, more than the Omatikaya but less than the Metkayina. Our clan is like the bridge between these two larger clans, the perfect balance between sea/land and sky/air. Therefore it is useful that an Olo'eyktan be trained here." You accompany Neteyam into the water, holding his hand. " Close your eyes. Feel the sea, welcome the waves inside you and take long breaths" you said and then close your eyes and do first what you said, followed by Neteyam.
After a few minutes you plunged together and took Neteyam to see the great peaceful animals of that area of the ocean, without leaving his hand for fear of losing him due to some sudden draught. Unlike the Metkayina, the Tayrangi did not spend much time exploring the seas because of the body structure more similar to the Omatikaya, but had learned the art of freediving in order to hunt sea animals even without their Ikran.
Together you reached a slightly deep point and you were amazed to notice that Neteyam excelled immediately in this type of sport, before noticing his slightly purple face. You promptly approached him and then laid your lips on his and gave him some air before dragging him to the surface.
"Are you okay?" You asked worried, checking his face.
"Yes, but I think apnea is not my thing, at least not for now", he replied jokingly, and then scratched his neck. "it’s hard not to be breathless if you’re inches from me"
"Then start practicing by yourself, near the beach." Your voice was slightly bored, but inside you just wanted to smile for what Neteyam had just repeated.
You walked away from him and sat on the warm sand, noticing how some girls walking a little farther approached to observe 'The Omatikayan Prince' while he was training. The girls multiplied over the course of that hour, and sat not far apart watching Neteyam dive into the lower water. You could hear all the comments they made about him and his sculpted body when he came out of the wet water, not to mention all the obscene things that had been said before and that got on your nerves in such a short time.
"Ma na'vi, this isn’t a slut show, go away. Now." Your sharp-edged look ripped through the skin of all the young Na'vi sitting next to you admiring the Omatikayan boy. The girls didn’t get anything said, and they got up to leave afraid of your threatening tone.
Neteyam approached you, watching the girls walk away as they glanced at his sculpted body, noting small marks and his back scratched.
Your outstretched jaw and obvious annoyance made the boy laugh in front of you.
"Jealous, Ma Tanhì?" he asked, laughing to tease you as he received your lightning glance.
"No. Of course not. Only that they are a distraction for you." Your arms crossed to your chest and your eyes pointed to the sky.
"You are a distraction to me." He said as he approached your neck, stopping before he could touch you. "The others are nothing, you should know after yesterday."
The hot air struck your neck and made you shudder, you opened your mouth to speak, and when you turned in its direction you were once again under the ravenous gaze of Neteyam.
"Stop it. Tul'pey or one of his friends might pass." Your finger ended up on his wet chest and you took it slightly back.
"Not that your screams of yesterday were really the deafest thing, but I didn’t complain like you now. I like the danger and the thrill of being discovered" Your eyes widened to his words, gaping.
"I didn’t scream!" You responded by slightly raising your voice because of the shock.
"Of course you did, I worked hard for this, my jaw still hurts after I did-" Your hand ended up on his mouth before he could continue, blushing conspicuously.
"Oh! You… you little skxawng! I hate you." A heavy breath came out of your mouth and you took your hand out of Neteyam’s mouth after he was leaving kisses on your palm.
"Turns me on, i love it" He whispered as he approached you again, putting his hands on the sides of your body, making your heart beat fast, while you looked to your side hoping no one would pass. A few drops of water fell on your body because of Neteyam’s wet body that now towered above you.
"Okay, s-stop. They could really see us" your eyes flickered in the air hoping you didn’t see anyone coming. "Let them look then," he replied against your neck.
"I have a mate and a title to protect, you too have a title to protect, if they see us…" he stopped you "They would definitely be jealous of how we have fun? yes, I think so too," he replied as his lips worked your neck, making you feel shivers down your body. " Shit. Please, not here" you sighed heavily, biting your lip to hold back a small gasp, while its tail pinched your spine.
"Oh, yes, right here, I like when you beg." he answered maliciously as he descended on your body with kisses, leaving some licks and small bites.
"You don’t know how frustrating it is not being able to leave my mark on you like you did" he whispered raucously once he got to the height of your pelvis, his hands now wrapped around your thighs, holding your legs open for him, while your pussy betraying you so measly getting wet.
His lips went down to your groin, making you exhale heavily. " But you said 'not here', so I guess, I’ll have to stop" His tone was amused as he left you with your legs half open and pussy dripping and pulsating with excitement. "You are a real skxawng" you muttered, closing your legs and looking at him badly.
"You have a 'Mate', you said so. What’s going on? Are you realizing that you want me?" he said mockingly, putting two fingers under your chin. " You’re not funny." You answered by turning your face to the side to get your fingers out of your mind.
"I still don’t understand why someone like you is with someone like him. With all due respect, he’s a great warrior, he treats you well and people like him, but does he know it’s me you think about at night?" He said straying on the sand with a smile on his face. " Your side of the hut is terribly close to mine, do you think I didn’t hear you on lonely nights while the clan was sleeping?" Your eyes were looking at him as you blushed. Unfortunately he was right, some nights you found yourself masturbating to frustration and the only image that helped you in this was just the Na'vi in front of you.
"He was chosen for me by Eywa. Those things mean nothing, he’s the person I’ll mate with," you admitted with a little bitterness in your throat.
"And is that what you want? Your mind is clear but your heart wants this? Are you sure you want to mate with a man you don’t think about when you’re with me?" his tone was serious as he watched you, waiting for your answer as he admired your freckles in profile.
"I do not decide these things, if the Great Mother has spoken it is because it is the right way." You answered while your eyes were focused on the waves that broke a short distance from you.
"The great warrior and future Olo'eykte does not decide something? It is not your style, ma Tanhì"
"My will is nothing compared to Eywa’s. I-" he stopped you before I could finish the sentence. " And you think if that was the right path, the Great Mother would have sent you on my way? Listen to your heart, that’s where you can find Eywa."
Your eyes met the golden sea of Neteyam, observing him in silence. " If I were yours and you mine, Eywa would not turn her back on us. You say you hate me, but your heart beats faster if I’m around, and so does mine. Your thoughts when you are excited and wet are about me. You are jealous when other girls are near me or flirting with me. You blush when I’m too blunt about certain things but you don’t complain about them, and yesterday I made you feel better than anyone could ever do. Just admit that you don’t hate me and you crave me. Tul'pey has long since left your mind, but stay with him only because your mother wanted you to. Ma Tanhì, you want more and you know you want more. And that 'more' is me." His eyes followed your every move, his serious tone made you realize that those things really meant it.
You stood quietly looking at him, thinking of his words and connecting the dots in your mind. After all, Tulpey was mated with Ney'nari, your sister who died because of the war with the RDA to protect the young you and the clan. He was definitely perfect, but you knew his heart didn’t belong to you. You had learned to appreciate him, to love him perhaps and to share your days with him, but something in him was not totally sincere. The prophecy of the Tsahìk said that the future Oloeykte would mate with a powerful warrior of a clan, skilled in all sporting and hunting activities, with the noble heart, the blood of the stars, and a deep love for the family; and in the clan the only one with these characteristics was Tul'pey. It was also added that this warrior would come from afar, and by chance when Ikeyni had this vision Tul'pey had recently returned from a long mission that had taken him away to help the other clans of the forest.
But now that you were thinking about what was said by Neteyam, your mind had brought you back to the memory of that prophecy, and ironically, Neteyam was the detailed description of the supposed 'warrior'. You swallowed feeling some chills, maybe you were wrong, Eywa had spoken clearly, he would have sent more visions to your mother if she had misinterpreted her words.
"It’s just physical attraction, it’s not you… my future. Not you," you said almost derealizing, not being able to understand. The Great Mother would never mate you with a Sully, she acts without malice or hatred in her heart, so why was it him?
"Why not? Why can’t I be your future? You know damn well it’s not just physical attraction," he replied and then sat back and watched as your eyes almost made you miss.
"Because you’re a Sully. I can’t be with a Sully! Your family brought war to our home, my sister Ney'nari died to protect the clan. I lost friends because of you, my house was destroyed and set on fire and we had to move close to the forest. Do you have any idea how much pain your father brought him? And you carry his burden. You have the same demon blood as those humans. Being with you would be a mistake." Your hissing slightly wounded Neteyam, who took a long breath, trying to understand your point of view.
"I know you won’t believe me, and I know you won’t accept it, but my father never wanted war. It’s true, he has 'demon' blood, but his only sin is having fallen in love with my mother. You don’t know many things and I don’t know many things about you, but trust me, my family is not connected in any way to destructive humans. I’m sorry that you suffered so much, but I swear, no tear will ever turn your face again until you let me be by your side." His sweet voice directly struck your heart.
You looked away from him, taking long breaths and then seeking comfort in your necklace that bore the memory of your sister, feeling it absence too late. You thought you dropped it in your house and it was fatal the way this coincidence seemed to say 'move on' or 'don’t get stuck in your past'.
Your eyes focused on the white sand that surrounded you, unable to sustain the gaze of Neteyam; and then feel his hand resting on yours with extreme delicacy.
"Neteyam, no… We can’t. You’re not meant to be with me, and even so you are Olo'eyktan of the Omatikaya, I am Olo'eykte of the Tayrangi. Do you understand that even if you want, it’s impossible? You have to lead your clan and I have to lead mine" You said trying to take your hand out of Neteyam’s, and then feel his grip tightening, still remaining sweet.
"I love my clan, there is nothing I would not do for them, I have duties with them. But you, ma Tanhì, you are more than a duty, you are the most beautiful thing I could meet. From the first day I saw you in the village, when you growled and offended me, I got lost for you." His voice was getting closer and closer to you and he put the other hand on your cheek, turning gently towards him. "If I have to give up being Olo'eyktan for you, I will. Just give me a chance to love you, to value you, to make you smile in dark times. Be my ocean, my moon, my stars, my sky and my wind and I’ll just be the Na'vi who will love you. I want to breathe you every day, listen to your every complaint, comfort you and make you feel safe. Let me be your home. Let my hand protect you from the morning light. I can only be Neteyam, forget my last name, look at me… see me." He laid his forehead on yours, looking for your eyes as he twisted the fingers of your hands.
"Neteyam, I…" He stopped you before you finished talking. "Just say yes, and I will work hard to offer you only the best. I will bring the stars down to you if you ask me" Your noses were touching as you both closed your eyes and just let your foreheads touch. "Ma Tanhì, just yes." whispered and then shook your hand. Your hearts beating at the same rate, while you swallowed the knot in your throat that had been created. " Yes…" you whispered back and then heard Neteyam’s smile.
A few minutes passed before your foreheads broke off, but that moment of silence between you two, where you listened only to your breaths and held your hand while your hearts synchronized gave you the impression of having made Tsaheylu without the use of your tails covered by braids.
Neteyam’s lips met your forehead and gently caressed your cheek.
" Ma Eywa… I would make you repeat it so many times. You’re just… indescribable" he said with such tenderness and emotion. One side of you would have said 'no' but Uleyte had told you to follow your heart and the same Ney'nari made you promise to follow him always.
You felt guilty but it was superfluous at that moment, your sister would accept this, she would cover for you and spur you to follow your feelings right away. You were sure that if Neteyam wasn’t a Sully you would have bonded with him from day one, but it wasn’t possible, that Ney'nari’s death and the destruction of your house had left too much mark on you.
"I won’t repeat it, don’t make me regret this." You said and then hid a smile when Na'vi started kissing the backs of your hands.
"You’ll say it again when I bond myself to you in front of Eywa" his smile was so bright as he spoke that you almost wanted to forget your duties and your determined mating with Tul'pey. "And then I will be the father of many beautiful children who will have the most beautiful eyes of all pandora, equal to their mom. And your smile that you hide so much. And the stars that adorn your beautiful face, ma Eywa, what a blessing if they had your freckles" to his words a little laugh came out of your lips.
"Do you already think about children? I just said 'yes' to courtship" you said looking at him gently.
"Of course I do, but I hope they take my temper because you’re too tough. But our daughters must have this trait, so the boys will stay away from them and respect them." he kissed your hands again. " … te Suli Neteyam'itan and …. te Suli y/n'ite, or …te Skxumew Neteyam'itan and …. te Skxumew y/n ite. They sound good with both surnames. See? That’s the smile I want to see on our children. I would be jealous of it, because then I would have to check all those beauty buds, but it would be wonderful"
You hit Neteyam’s forehead laughing and rose from the ground, wiping yourself from the sand. "You are a skxawng. You travel too far with your imagination" you couldn’t stop laughing while Neteyam followed you and talked about the future.
"You’re a dream killer, ma Sa'nutsìp. I'll work hard to give you all this." He said smiling at you and then touching your back, causing you chills.
"It’s not true, it’s you who has a vivid imagination. After that 'yes' you made flights that not even the Ikran could support" Your voice amused as you turned towards him, continuing to walk from behind.
"First learn to freediving and ride the Ikran like a warrior, then I’ll think if…" Your back collided with a warm body, making you stop talking.
When you turned around you noticed Tul'pey and some Na'vi of the clan who were definitely going to ride Ikran or train.
"Ma Yawne, you have to be careful how you walk, you might get hurt," he said, taking your hips.
"Oh, Tul'pey… Yes, I was explaining to Neteyam about today’s lecture, I got distracted." You said moving away from his grip, then greet to his group of friends, bringing a hand to his forehead and pointing it at them, a gesture they reciprocated.
Tul'pey looked at you for a few seconds, remaining slightly suspicious. He took you by the chin and left a kiss on your lips. "All right, ma Tanhi. Eywa ngahu." he said before he threw a short, poisoned look at Neteyam, and then passed them both and left with friends.
Neteyam’s jaw was tight and tight like all his muscles, the scene had totally ruined the atmosphere that had created between you two. He was annoyed by the kiss, the positioning of the hand, but even more by the nickname he used with you. If the moment had been different, like the situation on the other hand, it would surely have put Tul'pey in his place, preventing him from even touching you once more.
"Neteyam…" your hand reached his outstretched arm, which at your touch relaxed with an unimaginable speed.
"I know, I don’t have to be jealous. He’s still your promised, but I’d rather not see you two like this" He sighed frustrated and then looked at your hand on him
"We’re a mated couple, it takes time. I can’t say anything for sure yet, you know?"
"I understand, MA Tanhi. Take all the time you need, I’m in no hurry. Not with you, not for you." he said kissing your hand.

You spent a few hours in that place, letting nature embrace and welcome you, remembering that you could ask for advice and receive comfort from your sister by making Tsaheylu with one of the voices trees that was placed just a short distance from there. You needed guidance and someone who understood your emotions, so who better than your sister to help you figure out the way to go?
The cold air now hit your face as your eyes pointed towards the tree of voices, not feeling able to get up to reach it. You felt dead lying on that grass, letting a few tears go while you seemed lifeless, almost extinct. It took a few minutes before you could get off the ground, your steps were heavy as you squeezed your hand at chest height as if to keep the small fragments that now composed it connected, creating cracks and letting you bleed. Now the tears became faithful companions, a way of vent for the pain that you could not hold back. When you reached the tree you sat on its roots and weakly connected your tail to one of the bright vines of the tree, slightly afraid of not being able to connect with your sister. This was the first time you’ve been looking for her voice and her memory like this, because you knew it would be destructive to hear and see Ney'nari and then go back to reality and remind yourself that you no longer had her guidance, therefore you preferred to look for it in the wind or in the waves and you felt good so.
Within seconds you found yourself in a cherished memory, and you realized that you had found your sister. You remembered that day well because it was the day you killed the Palulukan whose tooth became the pendant of your necklace. You felt the breath die in your throat when you noticed a beautiful Na'vi from behind, with long braided hair, some jewels and feathers embellished her braids, while the band on her arm was indistinguishable, because you had made her, even though it was woven mediocrely she had never taken away that cherished memory of her little sister. When the girl turned a sweet smile greeted you and her kind eyes looked at you as if to invite you to approach her, while warm tears bathed your face, giving you the strength to run towards her and embrace her. Her arms were warm and comforting, and her scent was stored back in your memory. You collapsed in her arms, taking her to sit with you, as she held you to her immediately realizing that you were not well, her hands caressed your braids as she whispered "Take your time, ma Yawntutsyìp, take your time…." not knowing that her words only made you cry more. You missed her so much, her warm and comforting embrace that welcomed you whenever you needed it, the way her voice calmed you even in the worst of times.
She made you lay your head on her legs, just like when you were a child, beginning to caress your braids and your face, smiling lovingly as she wiped your tears. "M-Ma 'Nary…" you managed to whine and whisper without a voice while your hand caressed her face, trying to convince you that this was real and she was really there with you. "You became so beautiful, ma Yawntutsyìp" Her voice was sweet and melodious as she spoke to you, you had forgotten her voice and hearing her again led you to take long breaths and hold back tears, and then smile at her. "It’s been so long, ma 'Nari, so much… I’m sorry" she nodded at your words, smiling and holding you to her as much as possible. "Not much for me, I always listen to you, when you talk to me and look for me, because I am always here" She put her hand on your heart, looking at you with a sweet sadness. " And I feel that my house is being destroyed, what happens to your heart, ma Tsmuke?" Your eyes looked at her with desolation before opening your mouth.
She remained silent as you spoke to her about everything that had happened to you since her death, seeking comfort in her sweet eyes full of love and affection for you. She nodded at your words, waiting for you to finish talking and then pass her hand over your forehead. "Ma y/n, the ways of the Great Mother are many, and none cruel. Within you, you know what you really want, but your mind prevents you from understanding. I prayed very much to the Great Mother for you, to send you a good person because I know that Tul'pey cannot offer you all his heart, I'm sorry… You've become so beautiful and great, but your mind is still small like when you were still a child. You are hurt and your spirit is protected by your hard thinking. Neteyam Sully, he is where your happiness lives, I've seen it" You have remained silent, listening to her as she spoke. "Your eyes speak and I read his name in them. If you are suffering this way, let him go, and continue on the path that others have chosen for you. But this isn’t you, I still remember how much you hated following the rules." "I don’t think I’ll be happy with him, ma Ney'nari… He knew about Tul'pey, he knew that I was paired and that he would be my future partner but he wasn’t sincere. He took my heart and destroyed it-"Ney'nari stopped you before I finished talking. "But you asked? Did you ask him if he had a partner?" She looked at you as if she already knew the answer to her own question.
"I… I thought he haven't, because… well, I understood that… I-" You began to stutter, searching your mind for the moment when you asked Neteyam if he was paired. "I’ll answer you, no, you didn’t. As I told you, your mind leads you wrong, you are wise ma'Tsmuke, but very stubborn. " "He has a woman… She said she was his mate, ma tsmuke. His M-a-t-e!" even the mere memory of what was said caused you pain. "You too have a partner, whom you do not want. As he does not want her. You two have found each other, this is even greater than what our mother said or his tsahìk. You chose eachother" she whispered, caressing your cheek to comfort you. "She’s not his mate, not yet" You looked at her incredulously, is it possible that she was right? That Ninat’s daughter had said those words just to mark her territory? "When Eywa sent you the young Sully, I was blessing that boy for you, desperately trying to change your mind about him and his family." She gently hit your forehead, making you grumble. "You know how hard that was? Trying to influence the events of the living for a greater purpose is very difficult. The lost necklace was easier than sending you signals to change your mind." You looked at her wide-eyed even more incredulous "Then it was really you…" you whispered without a voice. "Of course it was me, I had to pray to the Great Mother for many eclipses to get her consent. And you kept being so stubborn, that hard work," she sighed dramatically, making you laugh slightly, vaguely reminding you that it was something Neteyam often did. "I could feel it, I knew it was you watching over me," you said with a small smile, as you squeezed his hand and carried it on your cheek. "I never stopped doing it, but Oare. Once sisters, sisters forever. Not even death can cut this bond" You looked at her nodding as you felt some tears come out of your eyes again, thanking her in silence.
"Oel ngati kameie, ma y/n" this time it was her eyes that got shiny. She never had a chance to tell you, because you were too young and you wouldn’t fully understand the meaning of this sentence. "I’ve always seen you, so I know that your heart and your mind want Neteyam Sully. Listen to your heart, he’s your destiny. Fight my big, fearless, little warrior" You nodded in tears, squeezing her hand against your cheek. "Oel Ngati kameie, ma Ney'nari" you answered with a broken voice. You wanted to stay in that enchanted place forever, listen to her voice and cuddle up in her arms whenever you needed, feel protected and at home when she was near you. You knew it wasn’t gonna happen, but you didn’t feel ready to go back to reality without her, not again. "It’s time to go…" she whispered once your breasts met because of the hug you needed so much. "Just a little bit more… please, leave me here a little more, I’m so afraid…" your broken voice as you squeezed your sister’s body, letting her do the same while caressing your head as a mother would have done with her daughter. "You can’t, it’s already late out there, ma y/n. I’ll be with you there too, don’t be afraid" You could hear from her tone that she also wanted to stay a little longer with you. "It’s not true, I won’t see you anymore! I won’t feel your warmth and your voice… You’ll disappear again, I won’t, I beg you… please" Ney'nari took your face with her hands and looked you in the eye, wiping with her thumbs every tear that came down your face . "No, don’t say that. I will never leave you. Never, ma tsmuke. I’m always with you, just listen. I am in the air you breathe, in the breeze that caresses you, in the waves that embrace you and in the stars that you look at. You carry me in your heart, listen to me. I will be your sister in all the lives that Eywa will give me, I promise." She tried to convince you to nod with her. Your fingers still held her shoulders as if she were a life preserver in the middle of the ocean and you were drowning. "Now go, and make your own way, follow your future. You have a strong heart, ma y/n, go get him."
Before you could answer her, you found yourself embracing the air, disconnecting the Tsaheylu that had been created between your tail and the bioluminescent liana. Lean your forehead on the bark of the tree, trying to feel the warmth of your sister’s arms for a while longer, wrapping your own body with your arms. Some tears streaked your face before feeling a gentle breeze caressing your back, making you smile in silence, realizing that this was Ney'nari. You opened your mouth, taking a deep breath, letting the cool sea breeze below open your lungs. You noticed that the sky was coloring slightly, and other gusts of wind hit you making you understand to get up and go to find Neteyam, to allow him to explain himself. When you arrived at the village you rushed to his hut, entering without even knocking or asking permission, immediately noticing the emptiness that was in his house. There was nothing left of him, no clothes or weapons, nothing, the bare walls and the tables well arranged. As you approached one of the tables you could see the presence of your necklace, the one with the palulukan tooth that you had lost, noting that the threads had been worked again with other green threads, making the closure knot more difficult so you don’t lose it anymore.
With the jewel in your hands you ran home and there you found your father looking at you worried, after all you had been gone for hours and your Ikran was still near the village. "Where were you? We-" You stopped him impatiently, looking for something vaguely reminiscent of one of the Sullys. "Where's Neteyam?" your tone of voice was impatient and almost exasperated, which confused your father. "I thought you knew, he left with his parents about an hour ago. He said that you had given him permission to leave because he was ready, and-" Tsentey froze, noticing your sad look and your still-shiny eyes. "Too late… it’s too late…" you managed to whisper, holding your sister’s necklace in your hands. "Ma 'ite, too late for what?" The man approached you, laying a hand on your cheek and looking at you worried. At that moment a lantern lit in him, making him understand why you had said those words. "Ma y/n, too late to find him?" he asked you to see you nod. Tears turned your face, looking again for affection and warmth in Tsentey’s arms. "Dad, I was late. Again. I didn’t get there in time," you said in the sobs as he stroked your back, clutching at you.
Your father had always been the loving parent, who understood you and left you free to be yourself, increasing your warrior spirit. He wanted to see you happy, and he always tried to soften the pill in everything, while Ikeyni was the toughest parent, who, yes, loved you but was tougher. They were two kinds of love that made you feel closer to your father than your mother, so you were looking for the maternal figure in Ney'nari. "Ma 'ite, Neteyam wasn’t just a student to you, was he?" Tsentey’s gentle voice echoed in the empty hut, which despite being warm made you feel cold. "I no. I don’t…" Your father’s eyes met yours, and you couldn’t lie. "He wasn’t just a student…" you sighed as a comforting smile from your father destabilized you. You were expecting a lecture that you two were heirs to two different clans, that you were both paired with other people and things like that. But he understood you, you could tell by his look. "I knew it. When you looked at him, you had the same eyes as your mother when I met her years ago." He reassured you, clutching you at his chest. "Don’t you want to scold me?" you said sobbing, you were sure you’d shed all the tears of your life in one day. "How could I? The heart is not commanded, ma Ngasyìp" Your father looked into your eyes, wiping your tears gently. "But it’s too late now… He’s gone, and it is all my fault" you whispered with shame, knowing that you had not even given Neteyam a chance to apologize and explain himself; for when he did you were deliberately deaf, so caught up in your emotions that you forgot his. "If it is fate, you will find yourself again," he said before laying his chin over your head, clutching at him. That’s when Ikeyni walked in and you two looked the other way, like you hadn’t just told your father that you’d been unfaithful in Tulpey for a guy you shouldn’t even have seen romantically.
The days without Neteyam were long and exhausting, your spirit had returned to what it was before you met him. You spent your time squeezing your fingers around the necklace that he had fixed, never taking it off, thus keeping the boy closest to you. Sometimes, when the night came, you would still look out the window hoping to find him and hear his voice and sweet words once again, being disappointed when you remembered that he was gone and would not return. To make his memory even more exhausting, it was that his hut was so close to yours that, inevitably, when you needed to feel him close to you, you went back to his house. You breathed the air that every day lost more and more his scent, taking with it the memories enclosed in those walls of leather and wood. Your routine had become monotonous: Tsakarem lessons to become Tsahìk; training with your father to be a strong Olo'eykte; the exasperating encounters with the family of Tul'pey that inevitably led you two to quarrel; some sacred rites and meetings with the elders of the village. You could say that your day took a moment of relief only when Uleyte came to see you and tried to cheer you up, understanding what was happening to you and feeling bad to see you suffer in silence, without making a noise.
Days became weeks and weeks became months. Now it was two months since your skin had forgotten Neteyam’s touch, since your lips had last met his and you wondered if he felt like you. You wanted to know if he missed you, if you were in his mind as much as he was in yours, or if you were just a distant and painful memory for him. Slowly you began to feel 'better', the wounds he had lefton you were healing on your own, patching those deep cuts with a few bandages, but not suturing anything. You had accepted the path that your mother and elders had marked for you, you were going to become Tsakik and Olo'eykte of the clan without protesting. Tul'pey tried in those months to fill a place that was impossible to cover, but without ever stopping fighting with you, trying to figure out what your problem was, your relationship had become something toxic. The thought that in a week you should mated him frightened you, you would not have lived the happy life you hoped to have, and it was at that moment that words struck your mind: 'make your own way, follow your future'. Your way, your future. These words sounded so familiar when placed close to Neteyam’s name, but it was an illusion to believe that there could still be a "you two" after that night he left.
It was ironic how life brought Neteyam back on your path just a week before your official mating with Tul'pey, but it wasn’t happy news. The Omatikaya clan had invited the Tayrangi clan, especially the Olo'eykte Ikeyni and her family, to the celebration of the union of Neteyam and Reyin'al. The news tore your soul, making those bandages useless now, making you bleed again. Your father and Uleyte understood when you expressed your desire not to participate, using as an excuse the commitments and preparations of your 'wedding' event, but Ikeyni would not hear any objection from you, she had already decided to bring you too as a form of respect. "Please, sa'nu… I don’t have time for this, Neteyam and the Sullys will understand" you whispered, hiding the pain behind your words, but your father understood right away, trying to change his partner’s mind. "You were his teacher. You are obliged to go and bless his union, it is tradition. You would bring shame to your name if you did not participate. has already been decided, we will leave tomorrow morning" She answered you, forbidding you to counter her decision, while you were looking for your father’s support with your eyes. "Ma' Yawnetu, maybe we should leave her here, after all she is also going to mate with her partner, you should understand her…" Your father shut up when Ikeyni’s look landed on him, making him look down. Unfortunately, you knew your mother was in charge of the relationship, but you appreciated Tsentey’s attempt to take your side. "I said it was decided. The mating will be the day after tomorrow, and Neytiri is like a sister, I will not offend her and her family for this." She took leave, leaving you and your father to look at each other with a sorry face.
You sighed in frustration all day, until Uleyte invited you to take a walk on the beach to empty your mind. "How are you feeling? I know this is hard for you" began your friend, as she wrapped her arms around your arm, walking on the seashore with you. "I feel…" you sighed stopping and then looking at the sea waves that were on your right. "I won’t lie, I feel bad. I haven’t seen him in months, and I missed him… I know I shouldn’t feel like this, that I shouldn’t have believed his promises, but I can’t forget his eyes. He was so sincere…" your tone was full of nostalgia and melancholy, remembering those moments where he spoke and you believed him, losing yourself in his golden sunset that gave you so much confidence. "But they were lies… The day after tomorrow he will belong to another woman" a bitter smile was born on your face. "You too will belong to another man, but the Great Mother watches over you, she will deceive the way if this is fate" your friend reassured you, receiving a faint smile from you. "Keep telling me about this fate, it seems that you’ve all agreed… I can’t blame him, in the end I told him to leave and be with her, I would be selfish to think that the fault was just his" you stopped sighing heavily while the girl next to you comforted you caressing your arm. "Do you want me to come with you? I swear, I pack my things, and at the cost of mounting on your Ikran I will come with you" She said in a solemn voice, making you laugh because you knew how afraid she was of height and flying, so much so that she always avoided following you when you went hunting, just for your banshee. "No, you don’t have to. You’ll die of fear after the first meter of height. But thank you"
Uleyte smiled at you, trying to convince you that she would take the risk if you needed her support. You two spent the day talking and laughing, feeling that you needed a moment like this before you had to face the ceremony of union between the boy who possessed your heart and that unknown Na'vi. Your friend tried to free your mind with nonsense thing that you did as children, took you to collect shells and pearls of the sea, making some low quality jewelry with the salty sea vines, or playing with the sand while it made you vent. When you said goodbye, she recommended that you come and greet her before your departure, leaving almost all the jewels made that afternoon together, and then wish you goodnight.
The night before you left, it was deadly for you, you had packed some clothes and jewelry that you would need for the days you would be in the Omatikaya clan, your hands trembled as you wrapped the various tops and loincloths in the leather blanket that would be your luggage. You could not help but look at your 'suitcase' and think that you would prefer not to leave, to turn away from your thoughts was your father who entered the part of the most private hut and of which you had appropriated. In his hands were traditional ceremonial clothes and you looked up at the ceiling, knowing that that would be your clothing for one of the worst days of your life. "Ma Ngatsyìp, I came to-" you opened your mouth before you even let him finish talking. " Yeah, put it on the table, I’ll pack it later." "It’s not just the dress, I wanted to know if you needed anything." Your father’s placed the clothes on the table and then looked at you tenderly. "Other than permission to stay home? Nothing." You made yourself too late that your tone was far too sour to address your father, who after all was only trying to comfort you. " I… I’m sorry, I’m just tense, Ma Sempul" You sat exhausted on your flat, then made space for your father. "Don’t apologize, ma 'ite, I understand the burden in your heart," he said as he sat next to you, before gently smiling at you.
You spent hours talking to your father, finding comfort and confidence even in his words, beginning to feel more confident in your encounter with Neteyam. You convinced yourself that if you saw Neteyam happy with someone else, maybe you could get over him and live your life in peace. Before you fell asleep you went over the plan in your mind: see Neteyam as little as possible, pretend to be happy and not think about him anymore, be a mature woman and wish him the best for his life as a couple with Reyin'al. It was easy, it would have been easy, if he had looked at you without that look in love you would have made it; after all two months had passed, surely the crush that he had for you had passed and had finally convinced himself that mating with a woman of his clan was the best choice to make.
Then why did your heart beat so fast at the thought of his eyes in love and enchanted as he looked at yours?
