I work at a lumberyard/exotic wood store. The other day we had some contractors come in and buy about $3,000 worth of African mahogany to build a fence with. Not only are hardwoods generally a poor choice for outdoor applications because they’re not as rot resistant as softwoods (which would have cost about 20% as much) the client was making them fucking paint it.
