5 Star Grand Prix 2019 Lineup
I’m having trouble keeping everyone straight in this tour, so I’m going to write a cheat sheet for myself.   I’ve heard that the stables in STARDOM are important, but the promotion seems to take it for granted that you know who’s in which squad, so maybe it’s a little too important.   So I’m referring to an October 2019 revision of the Stardom Roster article on Wikipedia.   Hopefully they didn’t shuffle around too much between August and October.
Red Stars Block
AZM                     (Queen’s Quest)
Momo Watanabe  (Queen’s Quest)
Tam Nakano         (STARS)
Hana Kimura        (STARS)
Mayu Iwatani        (STARS)
Saki Kashima       (STARS)
Natsu Sumire       (Odeo Tai)                    [Trios Champion]
Hazuki                  (Odeo Tai)
Avery                    (???)
Blue Stars Block
Arisa Hoshiki           (STARS)                       [Wonder Champion]
Jamie Hayter           (???)
Bea Priestly             (Queen’s Quest)           [World Champion]
Utami Hayashishita (Queen’s Quest)           [Future of Stardom Champion]
Jungle Kyona          (Tokyo Cyber Squad)    [Tag Team Champion]
Konami                   (Tokyo Cyber Squad)     [Tag Team Champion]
Natsuko Tora          (Odeo Tai)
Kagetsu                  (Odeo Tai)                      [Trios Champion]
Andras Miyagi         (Odeo Tai)                     [Trios Champion]
I’m gonna steal a page from David Finlay’s book and declare a “C-Block” for everyone on the tour but not actually in the tournament.
“Yellow Stars Block”
Riho                             (Unaffiliated)               [High Speed Champion]
Leo Onozaki                (Queen’s Quest)
Hina                             (Queen’s Quest)
Saya Kamitani             (Unaffiliated)
Rina                             (Tokyo Cyber Squad)
Ruaka                          (Tokyo Cyber Squad)
Starlight Kid                 (STARS)
Saya Iida                      (STARS)
That’s everyone I have so far.    Unless I really botched this, it sure looks like they loaded all their champions into the Blue block for some reason.   The “Yellow” Block might have more women in it than I know, but the above list covers everyone who wrestled on the undercard on the first two nights.
For reference, they give all the titles really elaborate names.   The World title is the “World of Stardom Championship”, which is fairly straightforward, but they call the tag titles the “Goddess of Stardom Championship”, which doesn’t really communicate that it has anything to do with tag team wrestling.   The only reason I figured out “Artist of Stardom” is the 6-woman tag title is because there were three of them.
While I’m at it, I may as well go over the title belts, just so I’ll understand what’s going on when the wrestlers mention them.
The World of Stardom title is commonly referred to as the “Red Belt”.   It’s the top singles belt in the company.   No worries there.
The Wonder of Stardom title is the “White Belt”, and essentially their version Intercontinental championship.
The Future of Stardom title is for wrestlers under 20 or who have less than two years of pro wrestling experience.    So I guess it’s like a developmental title, of sorts.    It’s kind of a powder blue.
The Goddess of Stardom titles are the tag belts, and they’re.... well, I don’t know.  I see like four different colors when I look up images on Google.  Maybe they don’t bother color coding the team betls.
Artist of Stardom is the trios championship, and I’m not even gonna try to figure out what color those are.
The High Speed title was purchased from the defunct NEO Japan Ladies Pro-Wrestling.     It’s for “fast and high-flying wrestlers”, which suits Riho, although I’d say most of the women I’ve seen in STARDOM could qualify.   But that’s why it doesn’t resemble the other titles, since it originated elsewhere.
What else?  Oh, yeah, I found out the ref with the yellow boots is Daichi Murayama.    All I could find on the guy was that he may have worn yellow footwear as a dig on Red Shoes Umino, which is about what I would have expected.    I hope it was like a friendly rib and not some sort of grudge.
