currently watching: I rewatched Interview With the Vampire (2022) in honor of the second season coming out next month, and I am back on my vampire/Gothic horror bullshit, y'all.

sweet/savory/spicy: Outing myself as the gluttonous asshole that I am, but I truly love and appreciate all three flavors. You gotta have savory and spicy together, and then have something sweet for dessert. There's no other way to eat, if you ask me.

relationship status: Empress Elizabeth of Singledom, if you please, commoner. *extends hand for you to kiss my ring*

current obsession: Interview With the Vampire, obviously. I'm still lowkey obsessed with Shadow and Bone and One Piece, but I'm also currently planning on rewatching Studio Ghibli movies, because I periodically go back on my Miyazaki bullshit tbh.

last thing you googled: ....Mesoamerican societies. *hides my face and blushes* LOOK. I'm currently reading Aztec by Gary Jennings, and I'm completely fascinated and enamored. I'm particularly interested in the Aztec and Mayan cultures, and if anyone has any biographies or histories about them, please send them my way!

The Poole Bay wreck, whose timbers have been dated to be 1242 and 1265, has the potential to rewrite historical understanding in areas from shipbuilding techniques to trade routes to just how 13th century Britons sourced their gravestones.

Tom Cousins, one of the Bournemouth University archaeologists working on the site, said: “Very few 750-year-old ships remain for us to be able to see today and so we are extremely lucky to have discovered an example as rare as this, and in such good condition.”

I've seen a fair bit of discussion about Roundworld equivalents of Dwarf bread, but I can't help feeling that Dorset knob biscuits might take the- the, ah, the thingy.

As a person who grew up in Dorset where these pebble-like delicacies were sold in nearly every shop, I can say truthfully that I've never ever seen anyone eating one, but that if loaded into a slingshot they could probably break windows.

“In her Journal (13 July 1843), the Queen recorded the progress of this, 'the secret picture' – prepared as a surprise for her husband's twenty-fourth birthday. The plot was successful, as the Queen wrote: 'he thought it so like, & so beautifully painted. I felt so happy & proud to have found something that gave him so much pleasure' (Journal, 26 August, 1843). The painting was hung in Prince Albert's Writing Room at Windsor. Several copies were made in miniature – a particularly suitable format for such an intimate image. The Queen later referred to it as 'my darling Albert's favourite picture' (Journal, 2 January, 1873).”
