one of the funniest things about Jack Crescent's "wait, this isn't Necryptos!" thing is that Safiria wasn't even from Necryptos. She explicitly, textually, was not from that planet. She was from the Blood Nebula

Which means, if she and Jack were on a date there when she sealed him in the moon, it must've been at a point in time when she had reason to visit Necryptos

And her primary connection to Necryptos was her dear friend Lord Drakvir Darkspyre, who was murdered by his eldest daughter centuries before the MQ Necryptos plotline takes place. Given Safiria didn't take revenge for that until the MQ Hero showed up and provided convenient help, I think we can reasonably conclude that she didn't visit Necryptos in the gap between Drakvir's murder and the Necryptos mission chain

Which means we have strong evidence that Jack was sealed in that moon for centuries even before the Reset happened

No wonder she forgot about him!

“Oh really?” Aleena raised her eyebrow at her brother standing in the doorway of her dorm room. “That’s the third time this week.”

“Well we are working on a complex mecha design.”

“Uh huh, and that’s all?”

Thallen gave her a look of genuine confusion. “What else would there be?”

“…Get out of my doorway before I throw something at you.”

“Wolfblades, always going for the brute force approach, so undignified,” Thallen shook his head before dipping out of the doorway as a plush wolf flew at him.

“And I thought Runehawks were meant to be smart!”

“Scrap, let me make a deal with you,” Aleena placed a plate of cookies (that she’d acquired from Asteria…well more accurately Asteria’s baker boyfriend on Necryptos) down on the counter in front of the farbit, whose eyes went wide at the sight. “My brother has been *painfully oblivious* that he definitely has a crush on Tek, and as I’m such a good sister, I’m going to do something about it. This always works in the movies so if you lock them in together, you get this plate of cookies all to yourself, deal?”

“Deal, twk twk!” Scrap grabbed a cookie in her mouth and took off flying towards the back room where Thallen and Tek were working, as Aleena allowed herself a self satisfied smirk.

“Sister of the year: me.”

“It’s been five hours, that should suffice,” Aleena checked her watch as Scrap, licking the vestiges of cookie crumbs off her fur, opened the door. “So! Did you two have any revelations?”

“Oh hi Aleena!” Tek looked up from her desk and waved a wrench. “We did indeed!”

“Yessss-”

“We found a much more efficient way of modifying the flux capacitor to allow manatech to power the weapons system!” Thallen poked his head up from behind an easel.

“…You try to do something nice…I’m going to go hang out with the cute biker.”

“That was strange...”

“It’s a first for Mogloween but I dunno if it’s the weirdest thin’,” Tannim remarked as he tread the grounds, trying to remember which houses have been visited.

“Not that,” Rune said, “it was what Safiria and Jack said.”

Tannim raised a brow, “You’re gonna hafta be more specific ‘cause they said a lot o’ thin’s. You mean wit the moon? Or courtin’?”

“Not quite that...Jack said that I was ‘that crazy chick from Soluna.’ There is no place like that in the Land of Dragons and I doubt of there being a place like on Lore. And yet,” his features crinkled as his thoughts, “I can imagine a place made of metal and carriages with flight when I hear that name.”

He could faintly hear sounds of gears not unlike Popsprocket but smoother, quieter. 

“And he said ‘Necryptos’ and I thought of something along the lines of Doomwood. But not. It contained days and nights. Deserts, forests...all with vampires not unlike him or Safiria,” Rune thought aloud, “but why?”

“I think you’re a lil’ tired from dealin’ wit the sons of disorder. Ya wanna rest?” Tannim offered, “we still got a few days.”

“I am not tired. I merely...” he trailed off, his fingers twisting around dark locks. He didn’t know why he was pushing this. It sounded odd even to him but those images were just that. And that wasn’t including the entire incident.

A woman with dark blue hair and dark drapery registered to him as ‘Safiria’ and Jack at the time, no different from when they saw him hours ago. He could hear a voice...a feminine voice that came to him as his own calling, “Saf, I don’t think you need to go that far...”

“Are you saying forgive him ending Laika?” the woman spoke just like Safiria did.

“Fuck no, he’s an ass for doing that but that’s more of punch in the balls thing than, y’know, let’s seal him in the moon for the rest of forever kind of thing,” the voice remarked as half gloved hands seemed to make a notion of scales, “Punishment fits the crime and all that.”

“So you agree that he should be trapped.”

A sigh came, “You’re really set on this aren’t you? As much as I don’t like greaser reject, even I think that’s a little much. At least give him a chance rather than damning him to moon-space time.”

“I don’t see a problem with that.”

“Safiria, please, think of it...as a nice favor for my birthday.”

A teasing smirk graced Safiria’s features,“You really want me to spare Jack for your birthday?”

“Not really...” was muttered, “but seeing as you wanna get out of giving me an awesome present, sure, spare him.”

“You’re a strange one--” 

“--Rune...!” Tannim called, cautiously giving a shake to his friend. A blink answered him before Rune’s eyes followed to where Tannim touched him. Tannim backed off, “Sorry, I was worried. You were spacing for a while. Are you sure ‘bout restin’?” 

“...” it was Kordana all over again. Strange thoughts that were like memories but certainly could not be his. And the headache to accompany it, “...let’s do that. The moglins are probably going nowhere.”

Necryptos Vs The Blood Nebula

Looking back on Mechquest and Safiria saying she’s from a location called the Blood Nebula got me curious to see if there’s any difference between the two

From looking at the Necryptos Questline vs Saf and Jack Crescent’s aesthetic, I can infer that

Necryptos : vampires sparkle and the aesthetic is primarily medieval gothic

Blood Nebula : vampires don’t sparkle and the aesthetic is primarily modern gothic

i've been playing through the necryptos storyline in mechquest and i can't help but wonder if han velsing has a dragonfable counterpart running around doomwood somewhere. is he a vampire hunter too? is he still a grouchy old man? does he have any connections to symone or her family of monster hunters?

Necryptos Update

After a little break due to my computer dying, Necryptos is finally out!

Head over to the spaceport to visit Lyceum, the small and spooky town in Necryptos

And while you’re there, feel free to visit the bakery of Calidus, my friend @theloverofdragons​‘s OC, located cozily in the back of Lyceum

Through the use of these coaches, you’ll be able to visit the various locations in Necryptos and visit the homes of the 4 vampire lords, each located in a different and unique scenery

For any Mechquest fans who wished to be able to once again visit the world of Mechquest, I have now started a project to remake it, step by step, in Minecraft.

I’m still here! So in the after the reset in MechQuest, the player character says to warlic that “[He], Artix, Sys-Zero, and even Mr. Z and Safiria were in it.” Oz reference aside, three of the five people mentioned are confirmed to know of (or at least understand that) the reset happened. I don’t remember where Cysero confirmed this, but Warlic saw the Shadowschythe mecha and vaguely recognized it, and in Mogloween chapter 12 or 13 (where Jack Crescent and the blood moon happened)...

...Safiria alluded to the reset, saying she locked him away after that. Idk if it’s important (or entirely intentional) but I thought it was interesting

Hi!! I’m glad you were still around! And you’re right, that is interesting!

Cysero's memory of the Reset is first mentioned in Ruins of Kordana (though there's elements of early installment weirdness there bc Kordana's dialogue also indicates he was probably planned to have been a ship/AI pre-Reset at that point) and has never been explicitly said since. There's lots of little hints to it, though, and the most blatant acknowledgement is Sys-Zero's appearance in CyseRedux! (Although, since you mentioned AQW in your next ask, I will mention that it’s more explicit in AQW! He and Warlic have a conversation alluding to it and in one quest, there’s a room in Cysero’s house with a portrait of Sys-Zero and the words “Never forget” scratched into the wall)

Warlic's memory situation is a bit foggier. As you said, he definitely recognised that Shadowscythe mecha but his dialogue indicated he didn't know why ("I— Why am I shaking like this? This thing, I know I’ve seen it before") whereas an earlier quest (Corundum Corruption) made it all but explicit that he remembered both the Reset occurring and what happened before it, with the following dialogue talking about events in Mechquest-

Warlic: There are several groups of them scattered all around Lore, hidden away from any who would try to use them for evil. Warlic: One of those groups is in danger. Warlic: A Corruption I thought removed long ago survived and has once again taken root. If left unchecked it will corrupt everything around it. The Hero: You sound like you've dealt with it in the past. Can't you just fix it this time? I know you're weak but... Warlic: You misunderstand. I didn't solve this problem. You did. The Hero: Me? I don't...I don't remember there being any Corruption when I went in and took the crystal shards the last time. Warlic: Not that time. Much, much, earlier. You probably can't even remember it anymore.

-nd this dialogue referencing the Nanovirus, after confirming that Warlic knows about the Shadowscythe-

Warlic: They first tried with a virus, something to corrupt living beings, and what that failed to corrupt everything they wanted it to they moved to... other ways.

-and that doesn't quite seem to line up with Warlic's reaction to Shadowscythe tech in the main storyline. Since the game hasn't explained this discrepancy, I've kind of just filed Warlic's lack of familiarity in the main storyline away as a retcon, which I don't mind that much bc Corundum Corruption is a fairly minor side-quest, all told, even if it was Warlic's first Book 3 appearance, iirc.

Safiria definitely remembers and, for that matter, so does Jack. Or, rather, Jack doesn't even seem to be aware that it happened in the first place, presumably because he was sealed at the time, which must've somehow protected him from the rewriting? But he's initially very confused about not being on Necryptos so he's definitely pre-Reset. And, yeah! Safiria very narrowly catches herself when she almost refers to the Reset by name!

So, of the five people that the Hero remembers seeing, two are confirmed to know it happened and one... might be aware of it and, if he isn't, is probably on the road to remembering.

What's also extremely interesting about this is that the Hero does, as you said, mention five people. Warlic, Artix, Sys-Zero, Mr. Z and Safiria. But they didn't see five people after the Reset. They saw seven.

Warlic, Cysero, Artix, Safiria, Zorbak, Twilly and Robina.

So, with everyone who remembers either being a pre-Reset person who was unchanged (Jack, Kordana) or someone who was present at that brief meeting before time resettled (Cysero, Safiria, maybe Warlic), I suppose that begs the question....

.....will the others who were there remember someday too?

bro i dont always get the MQ references you put in your DF theories cuz i haven't played through it cuz im bad at it but man it is so cool to see someone as passionate at worldbuilding as i get and also proud of it please don't ever stop and i always enjoy reading your theories and lore rants

It means a lot to hear that!! Storytelling and everything that goes into it is something I’ve always loved with a passion and I love expressing that and it’s lovely to know that other people can get some joy from that too! Analysing the worlds presented and digging my teeth into them and going “okay, so how does that work?” is one of the most fun things in the world for me and AE lore, particularly the MQ-Reset-DF stuff, is especially juicy for me in that regard

I can easily say that my theories and lore rants and meta posts are probably never going to stop! The focus might change from time to time (I fell out of active participation in DF around 2016-ish, ricocheted around special interests for a while before settling on Dice Camera Action for a couple of years, then richocheted around for a bit more before recently settling back into DF) but no matter what story my mind is on, I’ll definitely be digging into it the same way

DF will probably always be hovering in the background at least a little though. It tends to do that for me

and, honestly, I’m not that good at MQ either XD I power through bc I love the story and the lore but, full disclosure, I haven’t actually played through the game’s finale myself yet! I’m stuck on Planet Necryptos and have been for years!! I watched a playthrough of the finale on youtube ages back bc I was so desperate to know how the Reset went down. I’ll get there myself someday though. Someday!!
