I have now officially watched ALL of the Star Trek shows and movies. (Except for Prodigy, because I have a personal beef with the art style lmao)
Also, I originally got into Spirk from the AOS 2009 movie...and after watching TOS from start to finish... Jesus fucking christ. There were SO MANY moments between Kirk and Spock where I'm just like OH MY GOD??
Also, DS9 and Voyager both should have gotten movies. But DS9 especially. It's honestly a tragedy it didn't.

It’s Sunday AND New Year’s Weekend so today’s Classic for Connor is the 1972 blockbuster hit “The Poseidon Adventure”. This thrilling tale of an ocean liner capsized on New Year’s Day was produced by Irwin Allen, directed by Ronald Neame and scored by John Williams with conductor Alexander Courage (the guy who wrote the original “Star Trek” theme). The great ensemble cast includes Gene Hackman, Ernest Borgnine, Red Buttons, Shelley Winters, Jack Albertsons, Stella Stevens, Carol Linley, Eric Shea, Pamela Sue Martin, Roddy McDowell and Leslie Nielsen. Note: the first 5 are all Oscar Winners, which was a record until 7 Oscar Winners appeared in “A Bridge too Far” (1977). I was 9 when my parents and I went to see it. Instantly, I identified with the 11 year-old Robin (Eric Shea) and was riveted by the harrowing yarn. I’m delighted to report that Connor had the same reaction. In the 90’s I attended a 25th Anniversary screening of the film. In attendance were Red Buttons, Carol Linley, Stella Stevens and director Ronald Neame. Linley and Buttons told hilarious stories of how they couldn’t stand each other during shooting but years later became the best of friends. Stella Stevens told of the “joys”of spending most of the shoot in nothing but a dress shirt, heels and a pair of panties and how she wished she still had those panties as they’d be worth is fortune on eBay. Then came the Q&A where I got to ask the 87 year-old Neame how it feels to watch his film 25 years later in a theater packed with so many young people. With a twinkle in his eye he smiled and said: “It makes me want to dance”. And then to the delight of the audience he got out of his chair and danced a modest little jig. And for that moment he was the happiest human being I had ever seen. If a 50th Anniversary screening is held next year, Connor and I will be there. Happy New Year All! https://www.instagram.com/p/CJmHLDpjcT_/?igshid=1ja75b5pk1ld7

I've been slowly watching DS9 over the past few months, and obviously, I've already been spoiled for some things. I already know that Judzia and Juilen die at some point. But I don't know how.
That's some weird tension trying to watch a show, but in the back of your head, the entire time the knowledge that the character will die, but not knowing when or how, is simmering. The entire time, you're just wondering when the bomb will go off. You know it's there. You know it's counting down. But you don't know how long is left on the goddamn timer.

Well, now I'm glad I decided to finish watching ENT before watching the final season of Discovery. Did NOT expect that.

(in response to your tags on that post about trek and race) christina chong (who plays la'an noonien singh) is actually asian and not a white woman :-)
SHE IS?! Holy shit, my bad, I had assumed she was white. TY for telling me! I looked it up apparently she's Chinese and English/British. It's still odd they didn't choose an Indian or at the very least SE Asian actress in general for La'an knowing her ancestor. I dunno man, I think I'm still traumatized from Benedoot Cucumber being Khan in the AOS movies lmaooo

Finished S03E26
Okay, the shot of Picard slowly turning to the camera and revealing he's been converted into a Borg and the way his target laser hits the camera lens and it makes the laser flare effect was a pretty fucking cool shot. I wonder if it was on purpose, or they just realized the laser made that effect naturally when pointed into the camera and decided to keep it.
Also, where is the Borg Queen ;o; Is she only in the movies or was she in TNG?

Finished watching s03e22 of TNG
Bro, I actually got nervous for Data. Like yeah, I know he doesn't die or anything, but I wasn't sure if this would end with him getting forcibly turned off or something else horrible. Also, I did NOT expect to see Saul Rubinek!! Rubinek did a really good job at playing the villain in this episode, though I was thrown off at how young he looked. (He's always been Artie from Warehouse 13 to me, lol)
I did like that they didn't do the typical "3 Laws of Robotics" for Data to have as a programming ruleset. It makes sense, since he is literally sentient, meaning his programming wouldn't restrict him like that. I also found it interesting that Fajo was relying so hard on Data's statement "I have been designed with a fundamental respect for life in all its forms and a strong inhibition against causing harm to living beings." Like, Data didn't say he was prevented from causing harm to living beings, he said he had a strong inhibition against causing harm. If Data was unable to kill when necessary I doubt he would be allowed to serve in Starfleet. I also found Data doing the calculation in his head and coming to the conclusion that killing Fajo would prevent harm to other living beings to be interesting. I understood his logic, even if wasn't said. Also, characters keep saying "Data can't feel, he's just an android". But like...he clearly can bro, lol.

Every time someone in TOS refers to Vulcans as Vulcanian's, it makes me giggle.
Did every Star Trek after TOS just go "Yeah Vulcanian sounds dumb af, we're just gonna call them Vulcans"??

I...I've got 5 minutes left of the final episode of ENT and...what the fuck was the reason for killing Trip. Like, I've read the interviews with the writers for ENT, so I know WHY he gets killed off. But...good god. So smushed in and just...blegh. Can't even have an emotional moment either, it's just a "and y'all did that...why???" moment. Also, I agree with the retrospective review I watched that said making the final episode the way it is was very meh. It really does make it feel like the series is actually the worlds longest TNG episode.
ENT certainly was...a series. It wasn't the worst Star Trek ever, but my God, it certainly wasn't the best.

I'm sorry but the sound effects that Enterprise is using for Sehlet's are sending me into orbit, cause it's literally the same sound effects FFXIV uses for wyverns

On s06e03 (about halfway) of Voyager, and stuff Be’lana is saying about Klingon religion made think “...Did they base the religion of Klingon’s on Catholics?? At least partially?” Cause Be’Lana is talking about how her “dishonor” is making her mom go to Klingon hell. And even mentions Klingon religious text that states “The sins of the child are carried by the parent”. But the whole “Barge of the Dead” bit is lifted from Norse mythos, I think? Naglfar is the Norse “Ship of the Dead”. The whole Ferryman of the Barge of the Dead reminds me of Charon in Greek mythos though.
Is the Klingon religion a weird mix of Catholic and Norse? Maybe a sprinkle of Greek? Cause that’s a hell of a combo if so.

“There is far more efficiency in the way you and I communicate. We say what we mean, simply, and directly.”
I’m shrieking. Both the Doctor and Seven are so fucking autistic coded. ;A; Again, I know the plays into the fucking stereotype but goooooooooood. I relate so hard to Seven in the way she struggles to interact with other humans.

I’m resumed watching Star Trek Voyager and I’m near the end of season 5. But I’m on episode 22, and the thought “Seven of Nine is autistic coded” will not leave me alone. Like...shit, she totally is. But I’m wary of saying that because I reeeeeeeeeeally don’t want to feed into the “all autistic coded characters are robots, cyborgs or alien” stereotype.

Okay, I really like Strange New Worlds. It’s got the great blend of funny and campy plots, but that sci-fi seriousness intrigue. I’m kinda happy they pivoted away from just “Serious universe ending threat!” and “OMG A PLOT TWIST!” kind of stuff they were doing, and went back to vibes of 80′s and 90′s Trek.
