I got to try out some all-terrain wheelchairs yesterday and it was so fun! With me potentially moving back home to my parents farm, we thought it would be a good idea to look into some options and a family friend (who's also a wheelchair user) invited me to an event he was hosting at his place where they would have a few available to try.
I tried two different kinds of powerchair, one with regular off-road wheels, and one with those big tank tracks, as well as an Omeo, which is a hands-free chair that works kind of like a segway, you lean in the direction you want to go.
The powerchairs, especially the one with the tracks, was the most practical option, but they're too heavy to transport in a normal car, so I'd only be able to use it at home without some kind of modified van (and getting NDIS support for those is not easy) or accessible public transport which doesn't exist this far out of town. It was a lot of fun though, and they really meant it when they said all-terrain. Even the smaller chair with the wheels handled terrain that my car couldn't even get through without making some concerning noises (very steep hills, in and around creeks, a pile of mulch in the friend's garden)
The Omeo was the one I'm most excited for though! I had some trouble with the standard ones they had at the event because they do kind of depend on you having legs, even if you can't use them. Legs, even unmovable ones, impact how your weight is distributed, and the Omeo uses shifts in weight to determine where you want to go, so if your weight is not distributed the way it expects, its a bit harder to use. Even with that issue though, I was still able to use it once we tweaked the seating a bit and the OTs present were confident we could make further adjustments to make it better for me, mainly replacing the foot plate with some kind of knee-pad for me to brace/push against when I lean forward. It was able to handle all the same terrain as the other powerchairs (though I wasn't that adventurous, others at the event were) and it was able to be put in the back of my car, so we would be able to easily take it to other places, unlike the other options. I'm going to look into trialing one that's a bit better suited to me, if the NDIS allows it lol.

@restart-the-cycle @keeper-of-magic
Aha! This time, a broadcast was sent out to me from Turning the Page! Drops, Lucky, and herself.
Seems Lucky brought our little sister with him this time, hehe.
PRIVATE
Turning the Pages, Monarch to None
Recording of events in Nine Drops of Iron's Structure.
-Begin Transcript-
TP: Again, thanks for taking me along, Lucky! I've been really bored, but this region is so . . . cool!
TP: And I had no idea Steps' region was so . . . holey. And void-y. And full of popcorn plants.
LE: Just trying to be a good brother, Pages. Now, come on. We're going in, and just a heads up. Drops is a little . . . off.
TP: I'm sure it's fine!
NDI: Lucky. Who is this?
LE: Turning the Pages, our little sister.
TP: Hiiiiii! I'm here because Lucky wanted to show me your region, and OHHHH MY GOSH YOU HAVE A MOUTH?!
NDI: . . . Yes. I'm surprised that Lucky and you don't. But he explained it was a choice made by only my ancients, not everyone's.
LE: Yeah. Anyway, so, Monarch just wanted me to see what was happening here again.
NDI: A . . . lot. First of all, the Rainmaker suddenly became transparent. It was rather interesting, for I still don't dare cut it even the slightest, but I could still see how it worked. My notes on it are finished, except for one.
LE: And that is?
NDI: Then, this other slugcat found it's way here and was . . . rather irritating, to say the least. Yes, I could dissect it fine, but it kept reforming outside of my structure and giving me a headache trying to document it's biology.
LE: Serves you right for the fake water call!
TP: Oooooh, that was this guy? Gosh, I was so worried but I couldn't do anything! Monarch's better at handling that kind of stuff.
LE: Don't feel too bad, Pages. He dissects creatures for a living.
TP: Ew.
NDI: Hardly an 'ew', ungrateful brat! You should be lucky you get to hear about my genius at all! Lucky, take her out.
LE: Wait, no, she's staying-
NDI: Take. Her. OUT!
-End Transcript-
Drops proceeded to throw both of us out of his chamber. Lucky went back in.
I cried.
-End Broadcast-
. . . How dare he treat Pages that way.
But, aside from this, Lucky also brought me a concerning note sheet. Once I understand it better, I'll send the image out to everyone-But it appears to be a diagram of a white lizard, but . . . butchered. The same way one would portion a cattle for slaughter.

✨💗 Tumblr Re-Set 💗✨
Good afternoon Tumblr! I am re-setting my blog as I have not been using it as often. It will still be featuring the same content regarding meals, weight loss and general health (as I am someone with PCOS, hypothyroidism, level 2 ASD & mental health issues). I am actually looking at posting more regularly on here and have also put up a side blog to post about one of my main hobbies (gardening) @gardeningistheehobby so if any of my mutuals are into gardening I will also be posting regularly on there as well.
So, as a part of my Tumblr re-set I want to dot-point some upcoming events going on in life for me that I will be posting about.
• DBT program interview 30/7
• NDIS Planning Appointment (not dated as I was told "in upcoming weeks")
• Psych appointments 12+13/8
• Baby shower 17/8 (I have never attended a baby shower before and I am very anxious about it!)
I know that these may seem small and it is not a great deal in quantity but, I am taking baby steps. I hope that everyone is doing well and looking after themselves during this time. :)

Disability Services in Sydney
Disability services Sydney are vital to the well-being of individuals with disabilities. They can provide a range of support services such as accommodation, community participation, and personal care.
The Disability Services Act provides a single source statutory framework for disability support. It also includes new measures to constrain annual NDIS growth and clear criteria for reasonable and necessary supports.
Personal care
Disability care services help people with a permanent or significant disability to live independently and participate in the community. These services can include personal care, respite care and accommodation options. They can also include allied health support and employment assistance.
Personal care supports provide assistance with daily activities such as cooking, cleaning and washing. They can also assist with mobility, medication management and clinical care such as catheter or bowel care. Disability service providers can also offer a variety of lifestyle support services such as social activities, pet therapy and music and art programs.
If you’re interested in applying for disability services Sydney, visit the NDIS website or contact a representative to get started. Once you’re registered, you can arrange a planning meeting to discuss your goals and needs. If you’re approved, your NDIS plan will be customised to meet your individual needs and include a schedule of support services. You can also access other forms of financial assistance, such as the Disability Support Pension, concession cards, or Continence Aid Payments.
Supported living
Supported living services provide people with a disability the independence to live in their own homes, while also receiving care nearby. These services can include accommodation, personal assistance and other community activities. They can be tailored to individual needs and preferences. For example, a person with a disability who needs help with cooking could receive assistance from a meal delivery service.
These services may be provided in a sheltered or segregated setting and are designed to develop skills and support daily living. They can also assist individuals with pre-vocational training and employment. These services are typically provided by specialised disability support providers.
Family carers can also access respite care, which gives them a break from their caring responsibilities. This can be a few hours, a day, or several days. They can use the respite care to attend day programs, outings, or stay in respite accommodation. The National Disability Insurance Scheme also offers a Companion Card program that allows a person’s carer to receive free entry into participating events and venues.
Community participation
Community participation is a critical component of disability services. Depending on the desired level of engagement, it can involve a variety of methods. Some involve consulting with the community to identify issues and make decisions. Others focus on building community capacity to take action and change the world around them.
Whether it’s joining a club, volunteering in the local neighbourhood, or taking part in social activities, community participation can help people with disabilities find meaning and purpose. It also helps them build social connections, learn new skills, and bolster their well-being.
Rise Network provides a wide range of disability support services, including accommodation, employment, and community engagement programs. Its disability support services are tailored to the unique needs of each individual, focusing on empowerment and inclusion. Sylvanvale is another provider of disability services, offering employment and community programs that aim to enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities. Its employment services include job search and training, fostering independence and self-confidence in the workplace.
Disability advocacy
Disability advocacy involves speaking, acting or writing with minimal conflict of interest on behalf of a person or group with a disability, in order to promote and protect their welfare or rights. It can also help them access services and supports. It can be provided by not-for-profit community organisations or private businesses. There are several disability advocacy services available in Sydney, including the NDIS Access Finder and Zero Barriers.
Activ offers a range of disability support services and accommodation options to individuals with disabilities, with a focus on empowerment and inclusion. Their services include mental health support, employment, and community programs. They are a member of the National Disability Advocacy Forum.
ADACAS provides individual and systemic disability advocacy across regional NSW. Their service area covers the Murrumbidgee, South Coast and Southern NSW local government areas. The organisation also operates a Justice Advocacy Service, which assists people with cognitive disability who are involved in the criminal justice system as victims or accused persons.

Impact of Exercise Physiology on NDIS Participants
Qualified exercise physiologists play a pivotal role in improving the quality of life for NDIS members. In fact, participant-centric exercise regimens can have a profoundly positive impact on people living with impairments. For them, the benefits of exercise can be astounding - ranging from increased strength and mobility to an even better quality of life. Let us discuss the topic.
It Enhances Independence And Mobility
NDIS Exercise Physiology in Perth, as in anywhere else, goes a long way to promote independence and improve mobility in the daily activities of people living with mobility or other restrictions. They can increase their range of motion through specific exercise routines, which will make their daily chores more convenient and pleasurable. Participants can have more fulfilling lives when they have better mobility, whether it's for getting around their homes or participating in community events.
It Strengthens Their Bones And Muscles
Many NDIS participants may have problems with bone density or muscle weakness due to their impairments. By creating strength and conditioning regimens that are customised for each person, EP plays a critical role in resolving these issues. Through bone and muscle strengthening, participants can improve their general health and well-being by lowering their risk of fractures, falls, and other musculoskeletal problems.
It Helps Managing Chronic Physical Conditions
Dealing with long-term health issues like obesity, diabetes, or heart disease is a common part of living with a disability. Physical activity is included in daily routines as part of the holistic approach made by professionals offering NDIS Exercise Physiology in Perth to control these chronic conditions. Frequent exercise not only helps manage symptoms but also lowers the chance of complications, which eventually improves long-term health results.
It Promotes Better Mental Conditions & Health
Engaging in physical activity is good for the mind as well as the body. Exercise can be a very effective way for NDIS members to enhance their emotional and mental health. Regular exercise releases endorphins, which are essentially feel-good and stress-relieving chemicals in the brain. Exercise also offers chances for community involvement and social connection, which helps people with disabilities overcome emotions of loneliness and isolation.
So these are the positive impacts that exercise physiology leaves on the mind, body and spirit of people with special needs.

Supported Independent Living (SIL) and How Eunoia Care Hub Can Help You Achieve Independence
For many individuals with disabilities, achieving and maintaining independence is a crucial aspect of their lives. Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS-funded program designed to help people with disabilities live as independently as possible while still receiving the support they need to manage daily tasks and achieve their personal goals. Through this program, people are provided with the assistance they require to live comfortably in their homes, participate in their communities, and enjoy a fulfilling life.
At Eunoia Care Hub, we understand the importance of promoting independence and providing the necessary support to help individuals lead self-sufficient and empowered lives. As supported independent living providers, we specialize in offering personalized services that cater to the unique needs of each individual. In this blog, we will explore what Supported Independent Living (SIL) ndis is, how it benefits individuals, and how Eunoia Care Hub can assist you or your loved ones in accessing these vital services.
What Is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a type of NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) funding that provides people with disabilities the opportunity to live as independently as possible while still receiving support with daily living activities. SIL allows individuals to live in their own homes, whether it’s a shared living arrangement or their own private residence, while having access to the assistance they need to maintain their well-being.
The main focus of SIL is to help individuals with disabilities live as independently as possible, with the right support in place to assist them with activities of daily living (ADLs). These activities include personal care, household tasks, mobility assistance, meal preparation, and more. The goal of SIL is to empower individuals to take control of their lives and make decisions that suit their preferences, while still receiving the necessary help to ensure they are living safely and comfortably.
Supported Independent Living typically includes the following key elements:
1. Personal Care Assistance
This includes help with bathing, dressing, grooming, and other aspects of personal hygiene. Personal care assistance ensures that individuals can maintain a high level of personal cleanliness and dignity while receiving the support they need.
2. Household Support
Household tasks like cleaning, cooking, laundry, and shopping are essential for daily living. Supported Independent Living providers can assist individuals in these areas, ensuring that their home remains a safe and comfortable space.
3. Community Engagement
SIL services also provide support for individuals to engage with their community and participate in social activities. Whether it's attending community events, going to work, or meeting with friends, SIL enables individuals to maintain social connections and build relationships outside of the home.
4. Health and Well-being Support
In addition to personal care and daily living tasks, SIL can include assistance with managing medications, attending medical appointments, and supporting overall health and wellness. SIL providers help individuals stay on top of their health and make informed decisions about their care.
5. 24/7 Support
Some individuals may require 24/7 support, which can be arranged through SIL funding. This ensures that individuals have access to assistance at any time, providing peace of mind for both the individual and their family.
The Benefits of Supported Independent Living
The benefits of Supported Independent Living (SIL) are extensive, providing individuals with disabilities the tools and resources they need to live fulfilling and independent lives. These benefits include:
1. Promoting Independence and Self-Determination
The primary aim of SIL is to promote independence. Individuals receiving SIL support are encouraged to make decisions about their own lives, from choosing how they want to spend their day to deciding how they want their home to look. SIL providers offer support without taking control, empowering individuals to lead self-sufficient lives.
2. Improved Quality of Life
Having access to SIL services improves the overall quality of life for individuals with disabilities. With the right support in place, people can live in a comfortable environment, engage in meaningful activities, and contribute to their communities. SIL services can also offer emotional support, reducing feelings of loneliness or isolation and promoting a positive sense of well-being.
3. Greater Social Integration
SIL services facilitate greater participation in the community. By helping individuals access transportation, attend social events, or join local activities, SIL ensures that individuals do not feel isolated. This increased social interaction leads to stronger relationships, greater confidence, and a more connected lifestyle.
4. Personalized Care
One of the greatest advantages of SIL is that the care is tailored to the individual’s specific needs and goals. Every person is different, and SIL services are designed to ensure that individuals receive the level of support that best suits their requirements. Whether someone needs assistance with daily living or requires more specialized care, the services are flexible and adaptable.
5. Access to Essential Services
SIL providers ensure that individuals have access to essential services such as medical care, transportation, and educational or work opportunities. These services are vital for maintaining health and well-being, as well as supporting personal growth and employment goals.
6. Safe and Secure Living Environment
By providing support in the home, SIL helps ensure that individuals have a safe living space. Whether it’s assistance with mobility or help in case of emergency, SIL services offer a layer of security and comfort, giving both the individual and their family peace of mind.

Specialist Disability Accommodation: Transforming Lives Through Purpose-Built Housing
What is Specialist Disability Accommodation?
Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is a key component of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), designed to provide specialised housing solutions for individuals with extreme functional impairments or very high support needs. Unlike conventional housing with minor modifications, SDA properties feature purpose-built designs that address the unique needs of their residents.
The Importance of Specialist Disability Accommodation
Specialist Disability Accommodation serves as more than just a housing option—it’s a lifeline for many individuals. Here's how SDA housing benefits its residents:
1. Enhanced Independence
SDA empowers residents by offering thoughtfully designed spaces and integrated support systems. These features enable individuals to perform daily tasks autonomously, fostering self-confidence and independence.
2. Improved Quality of Life
Purpose-built housing enhances mental health, social engagement, and overall satisfaction. A suitable living environment fosters personal growth, allowing residents to thrive both socially and economically.
3. Community Integration
SDA properties promote community inclusion, providing opportunities for residents to connect with neighbors, participate in local events, and access services like healthcare and public transport.
Core Features of Specialist Disability Accommodation
Specialist Disability Accommodation incorporates several essential elements to meet diverse needs:
Design Standards: SDA properties comply with rigorous design standards, including wide doorways, accessible bathrooms, and open-plan layouts, ensuring functionality and comfort for people with disabilities.
Safety Features: Emergency call systems, fire alarms, and sturdy construction materials provide a secure living environment.
Varied Housing Options: Residents can choose from a range of configurations, including apartments, villas, and shared SIL housing, to match their lifestyle and support requirements.
Strategic Locations: SDA housing is often situated near healthcare facilities, public transport, and community amenities, ensuring easy access to essential services.
SDA Funding Under the NDIS
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides financial support to eligible participants, helping them access tailored housing solutions.
Understanding the Funding Structure
SDA funding is categorised under NDIS Capital Supports, enabling participants to lease properties from registered providers. The financial assistance covers housing costs, while residents contribute a capped rent amount—typically 25% of their Disability Support Pension plus any Commonwealth Rental Assistance.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility for SDA funding is determined based on the severity of an individual’s disability, support requirements, and alignment with their goals. This funding is often paired with Supported Independent Living (SIL) services for comprehensive care.
Application Process
Securing SDA funding involves:
Developing a Housing Goal: Outline your needs and long-term goals with support coordinators and allied health professionals.
Submitting Documentation: Include medical reports and functional assessments demonstrating how SDA will improve quality of life.
Engaging with Providers: Work with SDA providers to find suitable housing options that align with your NDIS plan.
Living in Specialist Disability Accommodation
Daily Life in SDA
Living in Specialist Disability Accommodation provides a safe, inclusive environment where residents can maximise independence. SDA properties often work alongside SIL accommodations, creating a seamless support network.
Integration with Support Services
While SDA covers housing, Supported Independent Living (SIL) services provide daily living assistance, personal care, and skill development. When combined, these services enable people to have more satisfying lives.
Cost of Living
Residents contribute to housing costs through capped rent and other living expenses, ensuring affordability and allowing focus on well-being.
Planning Your SDA Journey
Knowing When to Apply
Life events that might prompt SDA consideration include aging caregivers, worsening health conditions, or the desire for greater independence.
Documentation and Planning
A strong application includes professional assessments, medical documentation, and a detailed outline of how SDA will benefit you.
Choosing the Right Property
Finding the perfect SDA home involves:
Visiting potential SDA and SIL houses.
Evaluating design features and accessibility.
Considering proximity to essential services and community facilities.

Assist Travel NDIS
NDIS participants can access funding for transport assistance to help them achieve their plan goals. This can include learning to navigate public transportation and gaining the confidence to travel independently.
NDIS transport services like Value Care offer wheelchair-accessible vans and a diverse fleet of vehicles, ensuring that each participant can reach their medical appointments, social activities, and community destinations. These services also allow participants to schedule their transport in advance, reducing the stress and uncertainty of ad-hoc arrangements.
Increased independence
NDIS participants are provided with a personalised plan that’s tailored to their goals and objectives, including assistive travel. This enables them to live their best life, achieve personal fulfilment and participate in the community.
With NDIS transport assistance, people with disabilities can meet their medical schedules. They can also visit friends and family, engage in social activities, and promote better health outcomes.
This is a major boost to independence. It helps individuals to overcome the barriers they face with sporadic and costly transportation options. It also allows them to build a sense of autonomy, self-determination and confidence.
NDIS transport assistance is offered in the form of a recurring fortnightly allowance. This can be used to pay for taxis, Uber, and bus services. Some providers also offer wheelchair-accessible vehicles and a range of other tailored transportation options. This can be included in your assistive travel NDIS plan or be a standalone support.
Convenience
Whether you require wheelchair accessibility or simply prefer a more personalised transportation experience, assist travel NDIS services offer the flexibility to tailor their transport solutions to your specific needs. From practical training to Modified Mobility Vehicles, these services ensure that each participant can enjoy a barrier-free travel experience.
NDIS travel and transport supports are essential in ensuring that participants have convenient access to essential services and activities. They also enable them to participate in community events and social activities, which can promote better health outcomes and reduce social isolation.
When providing face-to-face support, you may need to travel to your participant’s home or place of respite. You can claim costs for these travel expenses through the NDIS Assist Travel and Transport support category. These travel costs include a fixed hourly rate for the provider’s travel time, based on the NDIS pricing zones. You can also claim for additional costs such as fuel and parking fees.
Reduced reliance on private transportation
Assist travel NDIS offers scheduled transport services, reducing the need for participants to rely on sporadic and costly private transportation. The convenience of scheduled transport eliminates stress and uncertainty, allowing participants to focus on their goals. The inclusion of public transport training also fosters sustainable travel options, reducing the need for private transportation in the long run.
NDIS assist travel also offers specialised vehicles for unique mobility needs. For example, wheelchair-accessible transport services enable individuals to travel comfortably and independently. This reduces reliance on family and friends for assistance, which promotes social community inclusion.
NDIS assist travel can also include funding for support workers to accompany participants during travel. This can help alleviate burdens on support workers, enabling them to focus on other tasks.
Support for families and carers
NDIS participants can utilise assist travel funding to pay for private transport services. This allows them to go on shopping trips, errands and social events without having to rely on family or friends for transportation.
The flexible nature of this support ensures that it aligns with each participant’s unique requirements. Whether that’s providing public transport training to help individuals navigate the city autonomously, or offering vehicles with wheelchair accessibility, community transport assistance is tailored to each individual.
This support can be claimed as a “provider travel expenses" support item, which allows providers to claim their hourly rate for time spent travelling to and from a participant’s home, as well as vehicle petrol, parking and road tolls. ShiftCare’s software makes claiming these costs easy with geo-verified time-tracking, shift records with built-in expense details and auto-generated NDIS bulk invoices. Try it free today!.
