“Doyoung!” you call out his name and he goes seconds after for his cup. You smile while seeing him. “I tried to make a new animal that reminds me of you, I hope you like it.” You give him one last smile and then you go ahead and continue your work. 

He grabs a lid and leaves the cafe. He walks a few steps and finally decides to see what new animal you made. He lets out the cutest giggle when he sees a little bunny made out of foam. 

“Next time I’ll ask for your number y/n, I promise.” He puts the lid on and goes on his way. 

Maybe he does like coffee, but only the one made by you.

A/N: Okayyyyy so I’ve been working on my ideas for this fic for a long time. My inspirations for this were this book called The Giver as well as the concept for NCT’s Universe. I think it was just so well thought out.... But anyways..... you all should know that this story will be pretty long. I’ll be updating whenever I can and the story could start a little slow~ Pls bare with me. “Morning session is to start in thirty minutes. Morning session is to start in thirty minutes.” The monotone voice said over the intercom.

Zennie Pearl shuffled among the herd of rookies towards their new chapter. The new wave was said to be the biggest in over a decade. The expansion rate went stagnant in 2022 but went through a massive boom in the year 2040. What was supposed to be a simple project in the music industry turned into a new way of life for humanity. Borders began to fade into obscurity and two men continued to rise. Together they formed a new walk of life that altered everything.  

Zennie finally walked through the large doors and sped walked to her new dorm. Room 2020. The door opened and she was met with a smell of fresh breeze. The floors were a sharp white, the walls and ceilings gray, but the accents had neon green. Neo pearl champagne, she had overheard a rookie say a few minutes before the announcement. The dorm was beautiful and more importantly, it was spacious. She opened every door and much to her excitement, there was only one room. Zennie clutched her chest and let out a squeal of happiness.

She would finally be living on her own.

“Morning session is to start in ten minutes. Morning session is to start in ten minutes.” The monotone voice said over the intercom.

That is going to get old really quick. Zennie thought to herself as she pulled out the map to check the distance between her dorm and the Pillars building and gasped. It would take her about ten minutes. If she didn’t leave immediately, she would be late on her first day.

Zennie sprang up and quickly gathered her things into her bag. She caught a glimpse of herself in the full body mirror by the front door and shrugged. She did not wake up in time to do a full face of makeup but for once in her life, her twist-out came out great.

The walk to the Pillars was long and lonely for Zennie. Everyone around her had friends and were in deep conversation about things friends would talk about. She clutched her bag and picked up the pace. Her destination appeared and she felt her shoulders begin to tense up. Soon after, her hands started to sweat as she reached the door. The air started to move slowly as if time was threatening to come to a halt.

At the door stood a tall man with a smile plastered on his face that reached his eyes. He had full pink lips and wide, bright eyes. The rookies greeted him as he waved and said “hellos” and “hey” in response. His aura was welcoming and seemed oddly familiar.

Zennie approached him and his eyes widened as he met her gaze. “Hello!” He said, placing a hand in his pants pocket. “Are you ready for the day?”

Oh, he is starting a conversation!

Zennie let out a nervous laugh and tried her best to sound unshaken. “H-Hi!” She stuttered and the man chuckled and brought his free hand to his mouth.

“I’m sure I’ll be seeing more of you, Zennie. Try not to get into too much trouble.” He put a hand on her shoulder and lightly squeezed. Once letting go, he motioned for her to go though the rest of the entrance and Zennie obliged. Her mind was so clouded by visions of the handsome face that she’d forgotten to ask how he knew her name. Or what his name even was.

Zennie quickly walked inside and took in her surroundings.

Everything was beautiful and clean. Doors with silver knobs so polished that Zennie could see her reflection. She stopped at a nearby door and peered closely. Nobody, excluding the Neos that were nearby, stared at her- all of the rookies were doing the same thing.

A man cleared his throat and Zennie shot up and made her way towards the elevators. She looked at the clear buttons and watched as a fellow rookie pressed the clear button for the 127th floor.

“Remarkable.” Another rookie said as the elevator rose to the highest floor.

Zennie said nothing. The elevator doors eventually opened and revealed an office with two men standing side by side in front of the ceiling to floor glass window. Behind them was the entire city, covered with green and sunshine.

One man was taller with jet black hair. He had prominent cheek-bones, paired with a sharp jawline and an intense gaze. Zennie recognized him as soon as they made eye contact.

Johnny Suh.

And next to him was none other than Taeyong Lee. A head full of silver hair and glassy, dark orbs for eyes. There was a twinkle each time he blinked and Zennie felt her heart skip a beat.

He was breathtaking. Although, not in the same way as Johnny. The two men exerted different auras but in the eyes of Zennie, they were both equally intriguing.

Taeyong smiled and walked towards the rookies with his hands behind his back as Johnny leaned on a nearby desk.

The first set of 22 rookies piled into the large room and fell into columns as Taeyong waited.  

“It’s such a pleasure to finally meet all of you.” He said with a smirk, a streak of light passing through each eye. “I have such high hopes for you and I hope you’ll settle well within the Neo  walls.”

He was walking through the columns and stopped in front of Zennie. She held her breath.

“Hello. Zennie, is it? We have heard a lot about you.” Taeyong smiled and looked back at Johnny, who gave a small wave.

Zennie could only do a small bow with her head, too nervous to speak as she felt all eyes in the room land on her. She lifted her head back up only to make direct eye contact with Taeyong.

His eyes bored into her own as she felt her breath hitch. He said nothing as he tilted his head, seeming to try to get a better glimpse of her entire being. After what felt like a century, he finally walked on to see the rest of the rookies and Zennie felt her shoulders drop suddenly.

Everything else seemed to fade into background noise. Zennie saw only streaks of color and muffled speaking as the introduction meeting continued.

She thought of her sister, who had stayed behind with her family, devastated that she hadn’t been chosen. Maybe even furious. She thought of the last words that she told her best friend when she left. “I’ll be back soon. Don’t miss me too much.” Her best friend, Jackson, had  kissed her on her head and gave her a warm embrace but said nothing.

“Zennie?” Her thoughts were interrupted by Taeyong. It seemed everyone had already left, including Johnny. It was only her and Taeyong. She slightly shook, once she realized.

“Everyone has already left. That must’ve been quite the daydream. Does that happen often?” Taeyong’s eyebrows furrowed as he folded his arms across his chest.

“I- uh yeah. It’s been happening more often lately.” Zennie said nervously.

Taeyong’s eyes never left her.

“You know….we can probably help.” He said with a slight nod.

Zennie looked at Taeyong and visibly lit up. “Can you really? How? I’ve seen so many specialists.”

“Now now.” Taeyong said calmly, placing both hands on her shoulders. “We can make an appointment with one of the Dreamies and see if they can squeeze you in sometime in the near future. My main priority is to see that you get settled in.” He draped a hand over her shoulders and led her to the elevator doors.

“Read your handbook and memorize it. You will meet more Neos along the way, but for now…memorize my number as well. Page 127.” He smiled at Zennie and waved as the elevator doors closed and Zennie descended.

Zennie made her way back to her place. She’d zoned out for the entirety of the introduction meeting with the other rookies. All she could remember were the names Mark, Jaehyun. Doyoung…something about 1:27pm. Everyone would be assigned a position (jobs) in the community. And these positions were based on evaluation of performance for 3-5 years.

She didn’t know anything else.

Zennie quietly sighed to herself. She was going to spend all night reading that wretched handbook.

Before going home, Zennie made a quick detour so she could get some food in one of the common centers. According to the map, the nearest one was only a few minutes away.

She reached the entrance and paused at the door. There wasn’t a handle for her to pull and she couldn’t push the door for entry either. On the side, there was a keypad. She got closer and noticed there were no buttons to press.

A green light beamed once she was close enough.

Fingerprint?

No, she didn’t see any fingerprints on it.

Then she stopped and thought.

No way.

She stepped right in front of the pad, her right eye perfectly aligned. She took a deep breath and stepped closer. The green light scanned her eye and the doors slid open.

Holy shit.

She quickly made her way inside and was met with a seemingly endless corridor full of restaurants. And it was filled with people. Rookies, Seniors, Neos. Zennie suddenly felt herself become small. Everyone seemed to have already found their friends…their tribes.

From the corner of her eye, Zennie saw someone approach her. She followed the moving figure and was met face to face with a woman.

She was about the same height as Zennie. Her stare was cold and her blood stained lips were pressed into a line.

“You look the most lost. Have you not read your handbook?” She said in a slick voice.

Zennie shook her head. “I just got here today-”

“As did everyone else in your year. Preparation takes place before you arrive.” The woman cut her off. She looked her up and down and started to walk off.

Zennie stood stunned and watched the woman walk away.

What the fuck is her problem?

“She’s actually very nice. Just strict.” A familiar voice said from behind her.

Zennie turned and was met with a man with a gentle smile. He looked familiar. After a second, it clicked. He was the first Neo she’d met. The man who started a conversation with her right as she was to enter the Pillars building.

“I’m Jungwoo!” He put out a hand. “It’s nice that we can formally meet.”

Zennie immediately shook his hand and smiled with a nod. “I’m Zennie.” She said cheerfully. Jungwoo had such an infectious energy.

“Well, Zennie. Since you have been so fortunate enough to catch my eye, I’d like to offer you a tour of this common center. It’s the most popular among the Neos.” Jungwoo winked and began to lead the way.

Zennie followed him without hesitation.

“There are a total of 3 common centers on this site. All other sites only have 1..” Jungwoo grinned to himself.

“This one is called Empathy. It’s the oldest, has the most options, and is in the most ideal location. The other two are Resonance and Universe. They are also enjoyable but be warned, they both attract completely different crowds.”

“Noted!” Zennie responded.

They walked past the first few set of restaurants as Jungwoo continued.

“The food here is completely free and will always be. Taeyong believes food should have no cost. If you see something you like, you simply grab a plate and ask one of the staff members to serve you.

“That is—-” Zennie started.

Jungwoo stopped his steps and looked at her. A look of confusion on his face.

He then spoke.

“What you see outside of the sites is merely a basic version of Neo Culture. We’re happy to have so many people be so supportive of the cause but it’ll be a very long time before all aspects are widely accepted.”

“I understand.” Zennie said softly.

Jungwoo smiled and they were on their way once again.

“Yes, the concept of money doesn’t exist here. The staff doesn’t need to be compensated because they don’t have any expenses. I’m sure you understand this and already know from your reading. The only reason we are able to prosper is-”

“Because everyone does their part.” Zennie said the words with Jungwoo.

He grinned again.

This dude knows he has a perfect smile, huh?

Zennie thought to herself.

“Exactly.”

Jungwoo put an arm over Zennie’s shoulder and led her to a hallway. “There are some people that have been dying to meet you. I think you’ll enjoy this!”

He pushed open two brass doors and the room was filled with about twenty or so men chatting and eating. Some of them had their ties loosened, others were out of uniform, and some looked like they were still working for the day.

Zennie squinted and gasped once she realized who was in the room.

It was the Neos. All 22 of them. She was in a room with the most important people on the site.

She gasped and all eyes went to her. It became so silent, she could hear pin drop.

She waved and meekly said, “Hi.”

“Zennie.” A familiar voice said from the center of the room.

Taeyong. She wasn’t ready to face his perfect face again. Zennie’s face turned into a smile, despite the knots forming in her stomach.

“Everyone, I’d like you to meet someone who you’re going to like a lot. One of our greatest additions. Zennie Pearl.” He said, holding his wine glass out, as to start a toast.

Everyone started whispering to each other as eyes widened and heads started nodding.

“Zennie! We have waited so long to meet you!” A guy with sparkling eyes and deep dimples said in a chipper voice.

Shotaro.

He got up from his seat and walked over to Zennie and Jungwoo. He put out a hand and once Zennie’s hand met his, he put his free hand on top and smiled sweetly.  

Zennie let out a small laugh, completely flustered by the warmth of his hand paired with his toothy smile.

Jungwoo said nothing, but watched as Zennie fought to regain her composure.

Finally. He thought to himself. Things are about to get very interesting.

you and doyoung both had the day off and we’re currently at home. you two had eaten already eaten a small breakfast and sat on the couch. so much time had passed that it was a little after noon. doyoung was singing random songs while you were reading a book that had been sitting in your bag untouched for a few weeks.

while you read, doyoung started to sing the chinese version of "without u" while having the lyrics pulled up to make sure he was singing correctly.

"you sang something wrong," you spoke up while turning to the next page in your book, noticing that you were onto the next chapter.

"huh, what'd i sing wrong?" doyoung asked you.

you sang the lyrics and doyoung repeated you, fixing his mistake in the process. you nodded and closed your book before placing it on the coffee table in front of you. doyoung played the song out loud and started singing along with it.

you smiled while listening to him, remembering first seeing nct u perform the song on stage when you were both younger.

"i love this song," you said to doyoung once he finished singing. he let his phone continue playing music while you moved to sit on his lap.

"isn't this song your favorite?" he asked and wrapped an arm around you.

"mhm, has been and will be my favorite song forever,” you nodded with a smile.

“god, i can’t believe you thought i was cute back then…” he said while recalling.

“you’re right, winwin was cuter in the music video.”

“hey!”

you started laughing while doyoung his his arms that were around me. he almost tackled you into the couch but didn’t and attacked you with kisses instead. once your laughter died down, doyoung continued giving you pecks in your cheeks and lips.

“oh! we should eat lunch. i'll see what's in the fridge," you said and stood up after doyoung let go of you.

"just make something simple," he said to you.

you walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge. "did we already eat the rest of that chicken?" you asked.

"i took the rest to practice yesterday, remember? since i was there for the whole day," doyoung replied. "do we need to go grocery shopping?" he asked and heard the couch squeak from him moving.

"yea. maybe we should just order takeout, babe," you suggested and closed the fridge.

"would you want to go out to eat? we never get to go out, and we could go grocery shopping afterwards," doyoung responded. you turned around to face him as he walked into the kitchen and up to you.

"kim doyoung taking me on a lunch date? i like the sound of that," you said and he hugged you while kissing the top of your head. "i'll go get ready,” you said.

"hang on, could you translate something for me?" he suddenly asked.

"what is it?" you asked.

Part 3 - NCT 127 - More MVs and Social Media Links

Oh hey I'm finally back. It's been more than a day but life happens and it's only been like two days... or so? (it's been three) but let's get back into this!

So last time we covered a little bit about the members of the group and then I linked some MVs. I realised something I could have done there was link some social media accounts so let's do that!

There are general accounts for NCT on most of the big social media services such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. There are also accounts for all of the subgroups, so NCT 127 does have their own accounts on all of those as well. I feel like the Youtube content deserves its own post so I'll get to that but 127 does have a Youtube channel as well.

The individual members share things like the Twitter and Instagram accounts on and off, taking turns sometimes to post on there, tho most posts are from the company. Facebook gets posts from the company and not from individuals very often. The boys do all have their own Instagram accounts tho, and they also all use Bubble to varying degrees, which is an app which a lot of kpop groups use where fans can pay to access special posts from idols that include text posts, pictures, voice recordings, etc. I have never been a Bubble user, but I follow everyone on Instagram so here's all of those:

You can use those to become more familiar with the members and see some of the nonsense they get up to. Some of them post often and some post almost never so your mileage may vary with them as a tool, but I'm a sucker for personal social media accounts so I'm clearly following those all.

It's also worth throwing out there since I skipped talking about positions last time that Taeyong is the leader of both NCT 127 and also of NCT in general. He's also a main rapper, main dancer, visual, center, helps write and produce music and has since The 7th Sense was released, etc etc, you name it, he's probably done the thing. He's ridiculously talented, basically. (They all are.) I could list everyone's positions but there's tons of wiki pages and etc with those kinds of lists and I find them to be less helpful when you have a group like NCT where everyone kinda does everything a lot of the time and has multiple talents and jobs since the rappers might be singing or the vocalists might be rapping depending on the song and literally everyone is a visual etc. But that's part of why you might be noticing that Taeyong is front and center like... a lot. Very often. He's recognisable and has a distinctive voice and being the leader is a good extra excuse to focus on him.

Anyway, let's get back to the music! I somehow managed to come up with ten more videos to link to hit the max per post so you're getting another full variety tasting of 127's style and range with a special treat at the end.

Favorite (Oct 25, 2021) was the lead single from the repackage of Sticker and was not quite as divisive as Sticker but still a bit weird. Released right before Halloween, there's a whole vampire concept going on (GREAT) and the MV and live stage performances all have a weird electronic dance break 2 1/2 minutes in (BAD) that I am PLEASED TO TELL YOU is not part of the song on the actual album. The first time I watched the MV it threw me for such a hard loop that I almost hated disliked the song but when I listened to the album later on spotify I was like "wait it's gone!!!! it was all just a bad dream!!!" and I try to forget it until I do something like watch the MV to make a post like this.

We're gonna mix in some of 127's Japanese releases today starting with their first one, Chain (May 8, 2018) off their first Japanese mini album. Despite NCT's initial plan to have groups based in different countries and markets, they are still now in early 2024 only ABOUT to have their first Japan-centric subunit debut, which means that they've just been having 127 (and Dream) release some stuff in Japanese in the meantime. It helps that they have a Japanese member. Anyway Chain is just a great song so here it is.

gimme gimme (Feb 15, 2021) suffers a little from the eternal problem of kpop songs even in primarily Japanese having some.... wild? English lyrics (spicy disease? dead clowns? who wrote these lyrics? why did their native English speakers go along with this?) but despite the nonsense it's a catchy, mesmerizing earworm of a song with a tight MV with a lot of neat cuts and transitions and I have watched it VERY MANY times. I love it. Spicy disease and all.

In the first main NCT intro post I included WayV's version of Regular (October 8, 2018) and linked both this and the Korean version. I was going to include the Korean version and just link the English here since the Korean one is the one that I personally listen to the most, but then I noticed that the English version has like 66 million more views so I decided to reverse that and you get the English one. Anyway. All versions of Regular are great and the English version has some great weird lyrics too ("I be walking with the cheese that's the queso" is like... ultimate. Incredible. A+. How did Jaehyun record that without laughing? Legendary.). It's also, with Simon Says, one of the only MVs that has all ten members of NCT 127. It also has a CGI tiger, shiny cars, rockets going off, Winwin jumping off a building, there's just a lot going on.

Sliding back to Japan for a minute, I feel like I should include Wakey Wakey (March 18, 2019). I almost forget this song exists sometimes and I think it's because I just want to block out having seen the absolutely terrible wig they put on Johnny for this MV. Seriously why? The song itself is solidly in the weird but also very catchy lane that 127 does so well but I just keep thinking about the wig. Johnny had some long extensions for NCT 2020 that looked great on him, but this wig was just not it. My eyes are drawn to it every time he's on screen. I need to put this into my regular listening-only playlists and let my brain block that wig out the way I forget the dance break in Favorite exists.

127 started 2023 off with Ay-Yo (Jan 30, 2023) which was the (somewhat delayed) repackage of 2 Baddies, which we'll get to in a moment. I wasn't sure what to think of Ay-Yo at first but it has definitely grown on me despite having veered back into some questionable hair territory mainly for Taeyong (and I say that as a grown up late 90s punk kid who thought giant hair spikes were cool). The MV has some absolutely wild visuals mixed in, and the song is definitely outside of the realm of standard kpop releases even if it's not as weird as some others like Sticker. It's solid.

Okay so. Like. I honestly didn't really pay enough attention to the general reactions to 2 Baddies (Sep 15, 2022) to tell you how divisive this song was to most people, but it split one of my group chats VERY strongly and one of my friends has refused to listen to any 127 releases since then because she hates this song so much. I tried to get her with Fact Check at the very least and she's so anti this song that she still refused and I may have lost her on 127 altogether 🤣 It's mainly the chorus that she dislikes, and I'm a little back and forth on it myself sometimes honestly but also I have absolutely BLASTED this song while driving down the highway so it feels kinda like a guilty pleasure song sometimes. If you ignore the chorus the other parts of the song are so goooooooood and no one can deny that the last part of the bridge slaps. Plus there's a whole lot of shirtless Johnny and Yuta which you can never go wrong with.

Touch (Mar 13, 2018) is a little off from the style of kpop that I listen to regularly since it's a bit more in the bubbly poppy side of things that I don't always go for but the vibes are immaculate and everyone looks so happy in the MV and there's fuzzy sweaters and everyone smiles so much? It's hard to not love it. It's fluff and cheery and delightful.

I don't know if SM actually started the "track video" trend (short MVs that have an edited, cut down version of a song so they cost less to produce than a full MV- Lemonade is 3:10 on the Sticker/Favorite album, but this track video is 2:01 for instance) but they love doing them with NCT, and despite Lemonade (Sep 9, 2021) definitely deserving a full MV, since it wasn't the lead single it didn't get one but it did at least get a track video and was performed a lot on the music shows when they were promoting Sticker. It's catchy and has some clever work in the full version lyrics that involve titles of other NCT 127 songs and I've listened to it as much as or possibly more than Sticker.

I've covered all of the lead singles and there ARE some other track videos or special release songs like the recent Be There For Me that I could be using the last slot for but you know what? We're gonna go fully off the expected path and include Let's Shut Up & Dance (Feb 21, 2019) instead because it's wild and fun. 127 doesn't do much besides sing part of the chorus and do a bunch of dancing in this (on the ceiling? on the walls? in an alley?) but like. Lay is here too and the song is SO fun and an absolute bop so that's what we're closing this post out with.

So that wraps the NCT 127 music videos! I'm thinking the next post and the last of the 127 centric ones will be a guide to some of their Youtube content, since there's a whole lot, and that'll kinda set up expectations for the posts about Dream and WayV as well when we get to them. I think after I get through the main posts of MVs and content for all of the sub-units that I might do some special posts of performance videos for songs that don't have MVs just to get some of those out there, or I might just post a bunch of links to them. We'll see how I'm feeling and if my audience of like two or three people has any kind of preference (that's you, hey, yeah you, lemme know what you want from me).

Synopsis; The girls contract is up for renewal.

The air was tense as the girls sat in the dorm, the four of them squished onto the couch together. They had decided to be upfront on everything, the boys deserved that much after everything they’d been through.

“Who’s pregnant now?” Haechan joked as he sat on the floor beside Mark.

“No one,” Jinmi stated, “This is quite serious,”

The man went silent for once, swallowing thickly.

Sunmi sat up straight, wedged between Hyejin and Jinmi.

“Their contract renewal is coming up,” Sunmi explained, “And they’re deciding not to renew their contracts,”

The room instantly burst into noise, a mix of Chinese, English and Korean being thrown around.

Sophia was next to talk, quieting the room, “We got a contract offer from Grace!”

There was silence again until Taeyong spoke.

“Take it,” He stated.

Hyejin whispered, “We won’t if you all don’t want us to..,”

“Go,” Haechan announced, arms crossed over his face.

The maknae looked up, tears filling her eyes and hurt flashing on her face. But her eyes lingered on Mark, who had been oddly silent.

“We don’t mean it like that,” Johnny quickly fixed Haechan’s words, “You four are better off with Grace..,”

Jaehyun huffed, “No, Sunmi, what do you mean by their? Whose contract isn’t up for renewal?”

“Mine,” She answered, “I re-signed the contract in 2021 with the other Red Velvet members,”

Doyoung frowned, “Your not leaving too?”

Sunmi sighed, “I..It’s going to be an uphill battle, my parents are building a lawsuit against SM to get my contract terminated,”

“But we’re going to try and Grace is helping,” Jinmi stated firmly, grabbing Sunmi’s hand.

“God, this makes it sound like we’re dying,” Sophia joked, “We’ll still be able to see each other,”

“Even if we didn’t get to see you all again, it’s better,” Kun explained, “You four need to get out of this company and out of this group, we hold all of you back and we’ve all seen how exhausted you all are jumping from schedule to schedule,”

Jinmi gave him a small smile.

“We know Grace will take care of you,” Johnny hummed.

Hyejin whispered, “And we’ll be able to work with Cecelia again,”

Haechan smiled sadly at Hyejin’s words, glancing at Mark. The leader still remained silent, keeping his eyes on the floor. Hyejin felt tears building at his lack of words.

“We’ll support you, no matter what you do,” Taeyong nodded.

~ 6:28 pm, Sometime in 2021, Aurora/Moxy/Haechan/Taeyong ~

“Did you get along with the 127 members noona? Like when you were added to the group.” Aurora asked out of the blue.

Moxy barks out a laugh, “HA! No!”

“What.” 

“Yeah seriously. The only members that I was cool with were Donghyuck, Johnny and Doyoung oppa. I’m pretty sure Taeyong hated me. Like the day of my high school graduation, Taeyong lied about having a dance practice just so Johnny and Doyoung couldn’t meet Grandma Jin. He almost made me stay back to practice alone for two hours. Thank God for Soonjae-noona. She covered for me.” 

“Why didn’t any of us know?”

“Unspoken rule. No 127 drama reaches the Dreamies. You all were going thru a lot at the time. Debuting. Jaemin injury. The ticking timebomb that was Marks graduation. There was no reason for you guys to get sucked into our drama.”

Moxy could see the gears turning in the maknaes head. “Huh.”

Haechan was sitting on the couch watching a new drama with Johnny and Taeyong. His phone buzzed with an incoming message. Haechan grabbed his phone. Taeyong looks on seeing the younger puzzled at the message before texting back. 

“Who’s that?” 

“Rora,” Haechan took a sip of his coke, “She wanted to know where you were.” 

“Oh.” The three turned back to the show. All was silent for a moment before Haechan sat up. 

“Just putting this out there. I hold no responsibility for what Aurora does with the information I’ve given her. Her actions are her own and I, Lee Donghyuck, am not to be held accountable. Thank you.” Haechan leaned back onto the couch ignoring the looks from his elder members.

There was a knock at the door. The three boys were taking a break to order food. Johnny figured it was the delivery man so he got up to open it. Before he could get the door open, Aurora barged in. Aurora looked like a girl on a mission so who was he to stop her. Aurora stormed over, stopping directly in front of Taeyong. He tried to greet her but before he could Aurora clocked him with a right hand

“OH!!” Haechan jumps out of his seat in shock. Quickly, color fills Taeyong’s left cheek as the bruise takes form. Taeyong sat shocked at the actions of nct’s youngest members. One look at the fury written in Aurora’s eyes and Taeyong was hit with reality. 

He knew exactly Aurora was mad. 

And honestly he deserved it. 

“Thats for treating Moxy noona like crap and because she’s too nice to give you the punch you deserved.” And with that Aurora stormed right back out the door. Leaving like nothing happened. They all sat quietly, not really knowing what to say.

“I just want to reiterate, I have nothing to do with that. My hands are clean.”

[PRESS] NCT Doyoung, first to join the 'First Love' Project... Reinterpretation of Jung Joon-il's 'First Love (feat. SOLE)'

do you have any theories on the new nct u 2023? i feel like there was so much lore involved this time around

Hey, sorry for the long wait but here's what I can find.. and it's a long one

Ngl I've always had the impression that the lore in the Neos' universe was somewhat dead...? This year? But from what I noticed, yes they used their assigned Neo Number on the timeline.

The Neos taking pictures in different places worldwide (somewhat) actually could strengthen the idea that they have entered the Reality and are expanding their universe. In 2020-2021, they were in the process of doing it and, this year is pretty much like the peak of their plan; hence called Golden Age. But what's unfortunate is that there aren't any bits that help that idea... which is why I am actually unsure of this theory. For example, in 2021 we had illustrations of their machines but now the concept pictures are just... normal. ESPECIALLY contents such as YearDream videos or NCTmentaries... it's all pretty vague. Album-wise, I think it's interesting that they are called Archiving and Collecting, it's like they are keeping memories or perhaps 'documentations' (in a scientific way) of their mission and what stage they are in. It's really odd that they call it Golden Age yet it's not that grand...

MV

MV and Archiving videos, each one of them has very different visuals and aesthetics. I think that there aren't any lore conclusions drawn from those because I see them mostly for stylistic purposes. There isn't a clear plot going on. One thing for sure Baggy Jeans was in the Dream world, many irregular stuff happening. The unit choice itself, the first NCT U unit, perhaps could mean a new beginning.

Though I do have a sliver of thoughts for Golden Age MV. The overall song sounds hopeful and 'inspiring' to an extent, all the Neos gathering. In the beginning, we have a droplet of water, Ether, so they are connecting. However, as a deranged theorist, I thought there were some slightly suspicious scenes and an underlying meaning behind all of it.

First of all, some members have their keys with their NeoNumber assigned (I saw a theory tweet from some time and OP added the numbers... actually that's not how it works). The keys belong to each one of them though not everyone's shown. Xiaojun's 08, Jungwoo's 05, and Ten's 10. But it's weird how Ten and Jungwoo joined Jaehyun to burn the keys. It is also odd that it is in the shape of an old key with a wooden keyring, it's not 'Neo'. I still don't know what the key truly means, what is it supposed to open? Perhaps for the archiving files? Or is it for a door? One key didn't have a keyring (Jaemin found it?) and Mark took it and showed it to the others? Why were Jaehyun, Ten, and Jungwoo burning the chair along with the keys? Are they letting go of something? Perhaps the past because they are moving on to a new universe, a new chapter?

(Another thought) Knowing Jaehyun and Ten's background there must be something. Doyoung was chosen as a special character as of 2021, Xiaojun could become one too now since he was the only one in the water (which I still don't know the reason for.. perhaps something to do with Ether too?). There were many destructions, these were used in BOSS' MV to show the empty and depressing Real World, unlike the Dream World where anything is possible. Are the destroyed structures a sign of them restarting something new? Or is it something bad? One last thing, Red Lights

It isn't just any red light. I tend to go crazy with hints of (round) red lights because of their meaning. Back then, red lighting in the Neo world was used to represent them being in a dream, but this one is round... is there a villainous character present? Or is it a reach?

So what is truly happening in the lore? Is it all hopeful and positive?

End of post, I'm very sorry for throwing in so many questions but essentially I am still unsure of these ideas I have. I am rather skeptical with what I have because before this, the lore was vague to me.
