Hiii, nonnie!! Thank you so much for the ask (and also, I'm sorry for the delayed reply! I took off tumblr yesterday)!! 🥰 Thank you for asking this question because I don't think I've ever talked about it before!!

Long story short:

THIS SONG RIGHT HERE!!!!!!!!! 🗣🗣🗣🗣 If you haven't listened to it, pls do!!😭It's one of Miguel's songs and has part of his dialogue at the end of the song before it transitions to "Givin' up (Not The One)" in the album!!! The transition is (in my humble opinion) ✨😭✨😭✨ !!!

If it has a million fans, I'm one of them. If it has one fan, I'm THAT FAN. If it has zero fans, it means I'm no longer on this Earth!!! 😤

This is my fav song from the album!! I'll explain why below the cut! I'm going to give a short (lol, I yapped too much, I gave a whole story time) explanation because I love this song sm 😭 so if you care to read a bit of an analysis on the songs, then proceed, if not, pls disregard the rest lol and thank you for sending this ask!!!

So I first heard the song a day or two before I posted the first chapter to NC, which was late July 2023. I watched the movie in June but I only listened to the songs that I really, really liked (I love all the songs but some a little more than others) that were included in the movie without listening to the full album, so I hadn't listened to this song because Miguel's songs (this one and "Givin' Up (Not The One)") are not included in the film. I only found out about "Givin' Up (Not The One)" because it was all over tiktok lol

So yeah, I listened to the song for the first time a day or two before the first chapter was posted and fun fact, the first chapter I posted for NC was actually nameless lmao!!😭😭 I didn’t know what to title it (I’ve always been bad with titles), so it was just a writing post with no title. I didn't think much of it either because my og plans were for the story to be like 3-4 chapters total (past me would've been shocked I'm still going with the story and that we're 249k ish words in just from the main parts of the story, not counting the one-shots lol).

As I mentioned, I hadn’t heard the entire album yet but after part 1 was posted, I sat down and FINALLY listened to the entire album to appreciate it (I've since then listened to the entire album like a hundred times (Metro Boomin was my #1 artist of 2023💀)) and once I listened to it in order, I immediately knew I wanted to title my fic Nonviolent Communication. 🥹❤️

When I heard both of Miguel’s songs right after the other it made something in my brain click.

I felt like it was so, so fitting for what I was trying to achieve with my story, even when I was planning to make the story like 4 chapters long lol.

So my explanation for connecting the song to my fic:

I'm probably going to sound crazy, or like someone who gave the song too much thought but hear me out.

In a way, I felt (and ofc everyone is going to find a different vibe, feeling, or meaning to a song but this was mine) like it was kind of ironic how "Nonviolent Communication" didn't receive much attention like his other song, "Givin' Up (Not The One)" did, which is more... out there (???). It's more like !!!! You know? Like the lyrics themselves and the production are more bold and strong, more “rough” for lack of a better word. Despite it not being in the film like "NC", everyone knows it! Everyone also knows Miguel's dialogue because of it, "But I'm not like the others..." and so on along with his little quote about "being Spider-Man is a sacrifice" at the end of the song.

Then, you have "Nonviolent Communication." It's the second song with the least plays on the album on Spotify (after "Nas" which is another one of my top fav songs from the album), and the lyrics and production are an entire different vibe from the other song!! It's so much more softer and vulnerable, even slower.

It still has themes of being Spider-Man but it's not so !!!! like the other song is. It's truly so much more vulnerable and soft, and even has romantic themes included. And at the end of the song we have another part of Miguel's dialogue, that's often disregarded, included, "I'm this dimension's one and only, Spider-Man... At least I was," which I'm always !!!! about because one, his tone for that part is much softer (almost sad), and two, I feel like him no longer being the only Spider-Man in his own dimension goes along with him not feeling like a true Spider-Man, and no longer having this one thing to himself that he can have in common with other spider members.

I could go on about this but this is already so long 😭 but anyway, I think that part is usually disregarded, much like Miguel’s soft side that we don’t get to see a lot of in the film. We’re given very little of soft Miguel and the majority is him being angry, stressed out, scared, and frustrated (rightfully so) with what’s happening.

So, hearing both songs, I felt like they represent two sides of Miguel. One that is more direct, bold, and rough, maybe even “violent.” It’s the side that’s most known to probably all the spider people and fans alike. Some people only see Miguel as an angry man that’s determined to protect the multiverse and sacrifice anything, since he’s already given up so much.

But then there’s the side of him less known (less seen), one that we didn’t see much of but that many of us picked up on. He has a soft side despite being through a lot, and has a lot of love and care to give. He’s a man that’s capable of having nonviolent communication, someone who can fall first, speak differently with someone when he’s alone with them, and be willing to do anything to “bring” that person “to the other place” - while still being Spider-Man and sticking to his duty that comes with such title but not sacrificing those very things.

So yeah, I heard the songs and it just clicked. “Nonviolent Communication” to me is the soft side of Miguel that we don’t get to see much in ATSV, but it’s still there. And so, I decided that it was the perfect title for my fic because of my interpretation of the song and my goal with the fic: show Miguel’s soft and vulnerable side that I so desperately hope we get to see more of in BTSV (I am begging the writers to do Miguel justice!!!!!!!).

I hope this made sense, maybe as I mentioned earlier, I’ve given too much thought to this (I’m an overthinker) but that’s my version and I love the song SO MUCHH!!! It was my most heard song in 2023, so I guess that says a lot :)

For as long as she could remember, V’s dream had been to survive.

Then she met Jackie, and dreams of survival turned into dreams of the major leagues. To have their names whispered alongside those of Blackhand and Bartmoss.

They had pushed themselves to the limits for that dream. The long days of negotiating gigs and the long nights of sleep lost to their lofty dreams of becoming legends in their own right.

Then Konpeki happened and V’s dream of becoming a legend died in that cab with Jackie.

V’s dream turned from making it big to making it to the end of the day, month—year if she was lucky. She felt like she was sixteen again, taking bottom barrel gigs from a shady fixer just so she could afford rounds for her scrap-built gun and bandages for her wounds.

For the so-called city of dreams, NC had a way of taking that away from people. Chewing up their hopes and dreams and spitting them without a hint of remorse.

Courtesy of the relic overwriting her very existence, her dreams became twisted by images of a war she’d never fought in. She’d wake at night, images of muddy trenches that ran red with blood etched onto her eyelids and a burning sensation curling up her left arm, mirroring the nightmare Johnny had endured.

V brings it up a few times, lets him ramble about the war, words laced with a bitterness at the government and his delusional younger self. He had enlisted at fifteen with dreams of fighting for a better tomorrow, a dream that cost him his arm and his sanity.

She used to dream of mattering to the world. Of being something other than an SIN or a nameless face in the crowd. It was an unrealistic dream but it had kept her going even when her body screamed to stop—spite and anger pushing her forward.

Just her luck she ended up mattering to the man who was slowly killing her.

The merc wasn’t sure when ‘me’ had become ‘us’—when ‘I’ had become ‘we’. She suspected it had happened somewhere between the Pistis Sophia and the oil fields. Somewhere between those two moments they had both released it was them against the world—that their survival was dependent on one another whether they liked it or not.

For as long as she could remember, V had dreamt of survival.

She still dreamed of it, still fought for it, still chased it.

She hoped that one day it would come true, for the both of them.

But they do trust the mortal queens - who they have no intel on since Azriel couldn't breech their wards to spy on them and who kept reducing in number??

Rhysand cannot even get anything from his own uncle without stealing and distractions - and this is someone who's supposed to have been ruling since he was 30 and is now 500, so much for the Most Powerful ™

He introduces Feyre as his sex slave then gets pissed when the prudish and sexist aristocracy of the Hewn City don't respect her lmao ARE YOU FUCKING DUMB

He outlaws wing clipping but doesn't enforce it. He doesn't rip out the wings of men found clipping or set up groups of warriors to police the camps or install Cassian as a warlord and back him so he can take over a considerable area and start change from there. Bad politics would at least be better than nothing at all.

He's the HL with, very clearly, the least control and influence in his own Court. At least Feyre had to actively undermine Tamlin and sabotage his Court to get it to fall.

Rhy lives in a failed state. 400 years of Nothing. And with Feyre by his side, here's to 400 more of Nothing.

Unless SJM continues to push the High King agenda (through the hand she has up Amren's ass to use her as the new Rhys Hype Puppet since Feyre was busy with the bs baby plotline and Nesta would sooner cut out her own tongue)

Then it won't even matter than Amarantha or the still nameless King of Hybern ever happened - Prythian will be corrupted and ruined from the inside out

I had the best time today! I really did! I’ve been here all 3 days, but todays energy was just so high.

Every actor I met was just so nice, well except one, who will remain nameless. That one just seemed like acknowledging you was beneath them. (Common complaint from people apparently). I got autos for everyone who was there, so I met them all.

I’ve always loved Alex (not in a thirsty way because he’s too young for me!), but today just solidified that I’m an Alex fangirl now.

Although he was a little tired yesterday, Jensen was in a very good mood all weekend. He did confirm that he was filming Friday night, so he had to have gotten to NC last minute.

A lot of attention paid to the devastation in western NC which was touching to see as well.

Did Carrie ever leave a note when she died?

How did Rory know it was the girls from school to push her to such a point where she killed herself?

Now I’m gonna throw the idea of the note out of the window and say that Rory DID know it got that bad and “thought she could’ve handle it” so he never stepped up, he never intervened because HE would’ve been more involved than he already was.

“About being MY sister” he says talking about the reasons why Carrie was bullied in the first place.

And I think about the KNN Rory and I know that that he isn’t Rory Rory but he mentions to be there when a friends in need. Maybe a part in his head is still feeling shame of letting it happen?

He wasn’t only upset that he lost his sister he was upset that he had the chance to stop it and he never took it for his own selfish reason of not getting too involved with it.

Similar to how Alex could’ve stopped the final pushes that made Rory kill himself.

Rory reached out and Alex was like “no lol? Robot time.”

Or maybe that’s rly obvious and I’m shitting out of my ass like I always do idk.

It may be in your face but I’m stupid.

Also I’m dead set on NC to be a manifestation of both Rory’s and Alex’s guilt.

Alex’s own guilt about letting him and his sister grow distant and Rory not stopping Carrie from jumping off the overpass.

They’re both neglectful brothers in their own way. But I think the “Good Brother Bad Brother” is complete bullshit, because they both hold good and bad traits. The “muddling up” NC does is probably just a red herring and is there to fuck with you because I believe both are bad and good and since she gets dubbed Carrie but looks like Allison …erm… idk

I think that cause for the ad read for the GBBB(<-lol cba doing it again) it was the other way round of how I thunk it.

An incredibly petty nitpick, but I hated Legion in the Netflix show. It wasn't even Legion! Legion is the demon that surrounds itself with a shell of zombies that it controls. The "Legion" in NC was just a bunch of mind controlled people (not even zombies!) that were levitated (why does mind control also grant telekinesis?) into a sphere for absolutely no reason. Would it really have been so hard to just have Isaac create Legion proper instead of doing THAT to the coolest monster in the games?

And this is what the visual references amount to: all flash, but without a deeper understanding :D

To be fair, sometimes the references are cool. I didn't expect to see Gergoth or Malphas. I sure didn't expect to see the statues from the various save rooms! And I don't mind the idea of bringing back some iconic bosses, even in a shallow "look at this!" way, and from what I remember from the fight, it was pretty well done. It helps that it's by far the best part of S3E9, compared to the frankly boring Trevor&Sypha section and... whatever the fuck they did to Alucard and Hector.

But, when you take everything into account, Legion, N!Isaac's boss at the end of S3, was... a dude. A completely random, nameless, voiceless, not-foreshadowed foe that only stood in the way of N!Isaac and the solution to his bigger problem, a solution which he had learned about two episodes prior by a woman he randomly met. The magician, and Legion by default, had no meaning to him. The people that made it were just random humans that N!Isaac had no qualms in finishing off; and of course, he was too Cool to succumb to the Magician's spell, so much for a wizard who can literally levitate hundreds of people.

... lol, imagine if he had to fight Nuculais like in CoD. Now that would have been a treat. C'mon, a holy monster spawned from darkness in a blasphemous place of worship would have been perfect for your CHURCH BAD series. But that would require deeper research :P

If you mean a real antagonist that has presence and a name, then I totally agree. Ham it up!These distant faceless (often nameless) villains are so dull. She should just stop trying to write overarching war plots and focus on making her relationships not toxic cesspits. But if you mean Amarantha specifically, nah. I don't see how that could happen without completely breaking her flimsy world-building.

A group of men are visiting a small town, all with unusually attractive features. They appear to be looking for somebody yet they won't put up missing posters or ask anyone in the small town. They would come together and relax in a local cafe before splitting up. When the sun fell, only then the group would be seen together and they would vanish. Only to reappear in another local spot.

This routine continued for a week. With the group increasingly becoming anxious, the locals also start becoming suspicious of these men. I mean, who doesn't ask the locals if they have seen someone?

On a Sunday afternoon, one of the men was walking around in peaceful silence. However, nothing in his mind is peaceful. Deep circles were embedded under his eyes and his nails were unruly from how much he chews on them. Questions kept repeating in his head, the outside noise having no way of entering.

He came across a market, where the noise somehow made its way into his ears. The voices of everyone overlapping each other felt chaotic alongside the questions that kept exploding in his head.

The man felt suffocated. His eyes swirling and ears ringing from all the noise. People yelling over each other, a dog barking, children running, the sound of meat being chopped, that ringing in his ear that just won't stop. Everything felt so painful in his ears, like the sound of chalk scraping a board.

And then... Quiet.

Like a silence that's not so silent.

His eyes zoomed on one figure in the crowd of overwhelming madness.

He started running towards this figure, determined to get out of the despair he so hated to be in.

He grabbed onto this figure weakly.

"Beel!" His voice cracked, relieved from finally finding the man he and his group were looking for. He could finally breath from all that suffocating mess.

The other man, Beel, only stared at him and with one simple movement, pulled the man right into the entrance of dark noise.

He shrugged his hand off and continued walking.

"Beel?.." The voice cracked again, out of confusion and anxiety. His feet quickly moved and followed the man, thinking nothing of the previous interaction.

"You must have been surprised! You were holding groceries after all.. Haha.." The voice laughed weakly in an attempt to lighten the mood, walking beside the man who paid no heed to him. He must be hallucinating, there's no way Beel hasn't greeted him back.

"So.. have you heard about ****? We haven't been able to talk to him.. Since.. you know.." The voice tried to make conversation, his hand making its way to his nape. It's getting cold..

The growing anxiety could not be ignored anymore. The voice didn't come all this way just to be ignored. They suddenly stepped in front of Beel and put their arms out, blocking his path and effectively making him stop.

"Beel. Why won't you answer? Why won't you talk to me!?" The voice looked into Beel's eyes for the first time in forever and his eyes made him shiver.

Why were they so...cold?

"Belphegor." Beel finally spoke, his voice full of disgust and hatred that it gave the voice, no.. Belphegor, goosebumps. Why? Why are you like this?

"Move." Beel demanded, his eyes dangerously dark.

Belphegor fell to the floor, his legs weak from Beel's overwhelming power. Why? Why are you so hostile towards me? I'm your twin..

The tall man swiftly moved around the fallen man, not even caring to help his twin back up. Leaving him in the cold as hours passed. Amidst the tension and overwhelming emotions, only one word kept Belphegor awake.

Why?

Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Whywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhy?

His twin was never seen again. No matter how many days and nights he stayed up, he never found Beelzebub again.

Beelzebub arrived back at the home he so cherished, alongside his beloved. He opened the door, finding the usual mess the place is in. It's like someone's still in the middle of moving.

He closed the door behind him and walked to the kitchen, ignoring the mess on the floor. He set down the groceries on the only clean spot in the room, the countertop. A pair of eyes eyes him from the kitchen door. This pair of eyes slowly approaches him from behind.

"The market, NC. Didn't I tell you?" Beel zmi

He knows this, of course. What kind of demon would he be if he didn't?

Beel turned around just at the moment the pair of eyes was going to pounce on him. Luckily, he was next to a light switch.

He flips it and the light reveals the pair of eyes were NC. They were in front of him, smiling gently. They had their arms spread out like one would for a hug.

"Beel.. I missed you." A soft voice echoed throughout the otherwiss empty room. They hug their lover tightly, breathing in his scent.

"Sorry for being gone so long.. The market was especially crowded." Beel whispered, returning the hug calmly. They were so small in his arms, how could they ever hurt him?

"Really?.. Don't go out anymore.." NC suggested, looking up at Beel with soft eyes that could melt even the coldest ice in the world. They held his cheek firmly yet the demon knows they are barely holding on.

Fragile, they were. They could not come out of the house so easily without proper safety measures. Poor NC. Beel must protect them from the outside.

"You know I can't, sugar.." Beel grumbled, melting into his lover's hand. He needed this warmth and care. After all, he treated his twin unfairly just earlier.

NC looked into Beel's purply eyes and their gaze became calculating, something Beel did not see. They noticed something was amiss with him.

"..Did you.. meet up with someone?" NC asked slowly, their eyes darkening when they noticed Beel flinching at the question.

"That's..." Beel hesitated, knowing his fragile lover is a very jealous person. He shouldn't have made it so obvious.

"..." Silence overtook the room and the warmth and softness Beel felt from his lover quickly vanished, replacing it with icy anger.

NC pulled away from Beel and moved to turn off the light, making the room even colder. They might think Beel can't see because of how dark it is, but he can. He saw everything.

How NC pulled on their hair.

"Why!? Am I not enough for you!?"

How they smashed everything they could.

"How could you do this to me!!?"

How they ruined the groceries Beel brought.

"I love you but you keep going against my wish!!"

How they screamed in pain, eyeing a certain object.

"I told you over and over, I don't want you meeting other people!!"

How they slowly picked it up and began moving towards Beel.

"Do you even love me back?!"

After a few moments, NC stood in front of them with a knife.

"I'll die, Beel. I'll seriously die without you."

When the moon showered the dark room with its light, Beel could see clearly again. There's no way NC could be so hateful. No. They can't.

What happened just now was distorted. It wasn't real. My NC would never trash things. No, they wouldn't. They're fragile and soft.. They wouldn't hurt a fly. They won't.

"Forgive me, NC. I didn't mean to upset you." Beel cautiously took the knife away from his fragile lover, immediately putting it back into its safety spot before pulling the wriggling human in his arms.

"I won't do it again, pumpkin.. I promise." Beel pecked at NC's head, effectively calming the lover's jealously.

"You'll always love me, right?.. And you won't leave me.. Right!?"" NC asked with anxious eyes, holding on to his arms tightly so that he doesn't leave.

"I'll always love you and I promise I won't leave you. I won't even if my brothers ask me to." His voice finally reassures them, giving out a sigh of relief.

Even though they've made up, their hearts have not. They have completely different thoughts.

I have to protect NC. I can't just leave them like this. I have to do this. I'm the only one that they trust. I won't leave you, NC. I promise.

I love Beel and he loves me. He loves me more than his awful family. I'm the only one for him. We're made for each other. I promise I'll kill you if you ever leave me.
