#poll#bad history#no Baylie Carson you cannot be 'she/they Boleyn'#you are a nonbinary actor playing a cis female 'character.' because she's not a character. she's a real person#who was a cis woman#with no known evidence of liking other women. ergo based on current scholarship...she was not queer#and it's cool I think! more trans and NB actors SHOULD play cis characters! god knows the reverse happens often enough!#but. yeah.#interestingly the pocket thing was a stolen and misrepresented bit of worldbuilding from another author#who was very clear- when the debate came to her attention -that it was fictional and she made it up#(it was from Alix E. Harrow's The Once and Future Witches)#but Forster blocked everyone who pointed this out and deleted all contradicting comments

"We have mixed marriages and gay and lesbian characters in abundance throughout the game," Slavicsek tells TheGamer. "It just makes sense to us that all possibilities exist in Tamriel. We treat it as a real and living world. You just might not notice because we don't shout it from the rooftops or put signs proclaiming it everywhere. And you know why? Because in Tamriel, this is just the way the world is. No character in the world blinks an eye or thinks there's anything unusual about meeting the baker and his husband, the serving woman and her wife, or to have Naryu and Jakarn flirt with you, regardless of your character's gender. And that's not even mentioning Alchemy, the three Living Gods of the Tribunal, or the Daedric Princes who can appear as any gender they so desire! It's part of the world and so it's no big deal."
(link) (cw transphobia- article is a response to dorks who are butthurt re: the new nonbinary companion.)
This! This is what made me write ESO fanfic, when I’d never written fic with original characters before.
Because as a nonbinary bisexual ~woman on T? I fucking noticed! I noticed ESO’s Tamriel is a world I could exist in without friction. Where no one cares about your gender presentation or who you’re attracted to—where it doesn’t even occur to anyone to care about it. Where there wouldn’t even need to be pride, or queerness at all, because there is no one thing that’s seen as normal or correct. I love my queerness of course, but ultimately, I want to live in a world where I don’t need it, because the way I am is simply one of infinite ways a person can be.
It also means there is no sexual shame. People aren’t weird about sex or the things they enjoy sexually. There’s nothing strange about polyamorous relationships and nothing kinky about men who like being dominated by women. Sex work is not stigmatized or dangerous. No one feels shame about being horny or wanting sex. Sex is a private thing but it’s also not particularly taboo to discuss. I want to live in a world like that, too.
They don’t say it in the article, but the major reason the world can be this way is that they’ve done a thorough and meticulous job of deleting structural misogyny from existence. And as the quote says, you don’t even notice a lot of the time, but once you see it, you can’t unsee it. It makes me feel like a world without patriarchy and gender oppression could exist, and we wouldn’t even miss it.
RPGs are all about making you feel like you fit into the world. I’m tumblr-old; I’ve been playing video games for longer than some of my mutuals have been alive, and ESO’s Tamriel is the first RPG world I have encountered where I could actually feel myself fitting in. This is why I’m really hopeful about TES VI: don’t care where or when the game takes place, or what the Hero Mythology is; if they keep doing this? I’m in.

so did you guys know theres this character called tristan vik disventure camp and
#disventure camp#disventure camp fanart#tristan vik#disventure camp tristan#ghostofsnails#my art#It would be SO tedious to post all of these separately but to be honest ive been dead for so long that i think its just funnier like this#like. yeah. just in case you guys have been wondering what i've been up to.#I have like 2 more i think but i'll give them their own post so i can explain them#ive never hyperfixated on a character like this in my entire life. usually a character hyperfix is super intense and lasts like 2ish weeks.#GUYS ITS BEEN 2+ MONTHS. AND I STILL CANT THINK ABOUT ANYTHING EXCEPT FOR CARTOON GOTH NONBINARY SILLY PERSON#actually fuck you can i write an essay in tags about why i love them. this is tumblr. and whose even gonna read this anyways. fukit we ball#i followed dc kinda casually as a guilty pleasure for a while but i was instantly drawn to tristan when the designs for the s4 cast dropped#i was like You're telling me there's a GOTH who is UPBEAT and isnt designed like a flawless elf TWINK and is NONBINARY? ME FR????#LIKE OHH THE GOTH NB GETS TO LOOK A LITTLE WEIRD. THEY GET TO BE UNCONVENTIONAL. my aesthetic attraction to them goes crazy. vampire style.#i remember when they got revealed people redesigned them to look more generically pretty & it PAINED ME bc it missed the point SO. BADLY.#ik some people find them boring also & even tho i disagree i can see it if u dont rlly care abt alt stuff. but for me the fact theyre so#kind & upbeat & extroverted WHILE being a SUBCULTURAL GOTH is the draw bc while i do get a kick out of the exaggerated depressed goth#stereotype - its not exactly true to life and so seeing a character that looks and acts like me and real goths makes feel so seen and happy#they also capture my desire to have goth friends SO BADLY im projecting on them SO HARD. They are such top tier friend material you guys...#AND THEYRE A FASHION DESIGNER WHICH FEELS SO IN THEME WITH BEING GOTH THAT IT MAKES ME SO JOYOUS AND CRAZY.#its all so funny because im 100x more excited about getting good goth rep than nonbinary rep LMFAOOO but them being nb is SO important too#Not to mention their voice actor is FANTASTIC and elevates them SOOO MUCH. Also the amount the va is obsessed with them fed my obsession -#sooo insanely you guys.... i feed off of other peoples emotional attachments. AND THEIR ACTING FOR TRIS ADDS SO MUCH DEPTH TO THEIR#CHARACTER IF YOU LOOK FOR IT. I COULD LITERALLY WRITE ESSAYS ABOUT TRISTAN YOU GUYS. IM NOT INSANE.#god you guys this is the first time ive ever had a genuine “i feel seen” feeling from a fictional character I KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE NOW.#i LOVE NONBINARY PEOPLE EXPRESSING THEMSELVES. I LOVE HOW QUEERNESS AND GOTH CULTURE INTERSECTS AND HOW THATS REPRESENTED IN TRISTAN#THEY MEAN SO MUCH TO ME. AND I KNOW THEY MEAN SO MUCH TO SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE. WHICH JUST MAKES THEM MEAN EVEN MORE TO ME. I LOVE LIFE.#its an endless feedback loop i fear. im trapped in it & loving every second. i will be drawing them until i am in my grave & maybe after.

Queer women are the main culprits of fetishising mlm relationships (both real and nonexistent ones), and I think we’re all scared to admit that.
#before yall say anything I’m a sapphic#and I realise the call is coming from inside the house#particularly the bi/pan women and nb folks on social media#they’re reeeeaaally the issue here#because I wholeheartedly understand that this specific demographic (of which I am a part)#is especially desperate for any sort of lgbt representation#but the way some of them handle that desperation is by developing a cultist mindset#in relation to any two male main characters that glance in each other’s direction#and running campaigns against writers actors and other fans who don’t agree with them#and come up with all kinds of conspiracy theories to fuel their delusions#I’m so annoyed by yall honestly#and it pisses me off extra that it’s mainly women doing it#and yet they always ALWAYS end up despising and slandering and trying to write out the women#who have the audacity to show romantic interest in one half of their mlm#lord#bbc Sherlock#it’s always fucking bbc Sherlock fans isn’t it#also#spn#supernatural#anti destiel#anti johnlock

I dont care about cis actors playing trans characters. I dont think trans characters being played Only by trans actors would be more progressive than both trans and cis actors playing trans characters. I think both trans and cis actors should get to play both trans and cis characters
#at least with cis and trans men/women. im not nb and havent seen enough nb opinions on nb characters + actors so#although i do still think there Must be trans writers/advisors if theres trans characters

"A reboot produced by Bitch Fartman actually has surprisingly decent canon nonbinary representation" was CERTAINLY NOT on my 2024 bingo card
#Ive been trying to ✨️legally✨️ watch the new Fairly Oddparents and i actually like it#its one of those shows where you KNOW its meant for a younger audience but is still fun anyway#Not the pinnacle of cinema but honestly fantastic for a reboot#Its honestly better than some of the mid to late seasons of the og FOP that i grew up with#But who on EARTH convinced that transphobic piece of shit to add positive nb rep in this new show?????#Did he have like??? A redemption arc or something????#or was it something that was completely out of his control?#and the fact they theyre played by a nonbinary actor too... it blows my mind#I mean im HAPPY about it... but how that get past Butch Hartman?????

Patreon Gone Public: Voice Actor Dreamcast
This was a treat to put together, and I spent too many hours pouring over different voice actors and their roles to catch a golden nugget of what I really think embodies each character. I'm pleased to say that the voice clips are not only canon for their voices, but also in actual dialogue, what they say in those clips.
Swap some names or locations, and it's them. Yes, I am absolutely being normal about this! Why won't you let me chew on your arm? ...Just a little bit?
Pre death Leith: Adam Lazzare-White as Jacob Taylor in Mass Effect
Pre death Leila: Maggie Baird as Samara in Mass Effect
Yor: Keith Ferguson as Lord Saladin in Destiny 2
Yana: Claudia Black as Morrigan in Dragon Age: Inquisition
M!Auryn: Richard Armitage as Trevor Belmont in Castlevania
F!Auryn: Yvonne Strahovski as Miranda Lawson in Mass Effect
Sene: Anthony Howell as Gaspard De Chalons in Dragon Age: Inquisition (but also voices Morgott in Elden Ring which is... fitting)
Selene:Corinne Kempa as Leliana in Dragon Age: Inquisition
Idren: Brandon Keener as Garrus Vakarian in Mass Effect
Ida: Cree Summer as Exo Female in Destiny 2 (also the voice of Kida in Atlantis which is JUST *chefs kiss* perfect but I couldn't find a line that fit Ida's personality. This is more showing of their...path within Ouro.)
For Leith/Custom's voices post death and as they are in the present, you'll find those on my Patreon.
Hope you enjoyed :>
#OUROBOROS#ouroboros-if#interactive fiction#for nb L I have a specific voice post death but pre I think you'll have to choose for yourself whether they lean into F or M vocal range :>#RO facts#voice actor#dream cast#full cast#uhh what else

so for oyhs, if ash can use they/them pronouns... why can't sky??? genuinely curious. is it something to do with their reputation or public image?
I mean yeah…. Sky is an actor they have different expectations on them than an eccentric director. They don’t have the luxury to be strange, also add to the fact that they have pressure of them from their mother who is super famous it is not the same thing. Directors have more freedom cause they’re behind the camera, their image isn’t what they’re selling while actors are
And reminder Ashley isn’t using they/them as an identity, that wouldn’t fly. They are still called by male pronouns sometimes by people who don’t care and even though they don’t like it they also can’t truly explain why they don’t. They already made a huge hit so they’ve earned the right to be weird, think of it a bit like Howard Hughes, strange man but was allowed to be so cause he was believed to be a brilliant man
#if even today it’s hard for nb actors to get famous on pair with cis actors#it would be worse in 1938#actors of the golden age were bogged down by the hays code which dictated not only the movies they were in#but also their public persona#they had to fit a mold#nb#oyhs

i don’t know how to feel about the fact that i’ve started to see several people use they/them for taash.
like on one hand, i kind of get it. written by trick weekes, voiced by jin maley, both of whom are nonbinary. and taash is the only character whose pronouns haven’t officially appeared yet (to the best of my knowledge?) because harding, lucanis, emmrich, and neve have previous canon appearances, and bellara’s and davrin’s have appeared in promotional material, and maybe people are just trying to play it safe
on the other hand, the qunari have a long and unfortunate history of racial coding and i can’t help but feel like this is similar to the way women of color are seen as Less Feminine, combined with echoes of the weird remarks from da2 where people called aveline a man because she was a warrior
maybe i’m reaching a little. i guess we’ll see
#also the writer argument feels a little weak imo lmao#the actor argument has a bit more weight and i’d like to think they’d hire a nb actor for a nb character#but i also know. a lot of nb actors end up taking binary roles anyway#don’t get me wrong i would LOVE a nonbinary companion#i want people all over the spectrum so rook is not like. the only trans/nb person in the world lmao#i’m just like. is there any actual evidence for this or are people maybe being a little weird#(or maybe people are saying this jokingly and i’m taking it too seriously lmao)#mine#taash
