I’ve caught an Oddish and i’m going to give it to my girlfriend for Christmas. they are really into science and i was wondering if you knew Oddish’s scientific name? and if there are any another pokémon with interesting scientific names i’m sure they’d love to know them! Thank you!!

Very cute, may they get along well. Oddish’s technical scientific name is ‘Plantago Nazonokusa lanceolata’ as they are commonly related to plantains, or fleaworts, you may notice the actual plants in your area too, they’re quite robust and can survive in many areas.

Oddish flower, even the plain Jane original ones, will produce flower, seed, and reproduce this way more so in nature, or very natural biomes when captured. Their natural flower is quite subtle, but I think rather pretty. They give the same flower as their heritage plant, and often look very symilar to this:

They also have genetic ties to carnivorous plants, upon evolving they need a complete switch up of soil and diet, as they actually begin to prey on live Pokemon, sapping energy from them, and rely less on heavy rich soil full of nutrients. They also like wet feet after evolution and tend to only root into poor quality peat based soil, that’s sitting in rainwater prefrably. Alwasy moist. They should be allowed to naturally drain energy from Pokemon and beasically learn to hunt, it develops healthier individuals, and they tend not to kill anything during this process. It’s only the pokemons energy they’re after at this stage.

She’s the caretaker who gives you Fushigidane (Bulbasaur) in Hanada (Cerulean) City.
