This thing's finally done! I've mostly been doing quick artistic pieces lately and wanted to push myself with something intensive and challenging again. So here's a Rennaissance style wall painting of my character Peregrine that exists in a closet under a cloth on his family's estate somewhere of him after graduating from a naval education program ready to join the military when he was younger. Influenced by Dutch Masters and those classic noble and Revolutionary War era portraits. Much less colorful than my normal style, and I stayed fairly precise instead of wild. Lots of rendering. Rare that I paint indoor scenes atmospherically. There's a few things I see room for improvement on- the hand doesn't look like it's really resting on the globe properly, the attachment of his goatee to his chin and lower lip, the anatomy of his hand on the fancy schmancy cane...but overall I'm very pleased with the composition and colors. Probably open for comissions in this style if anyone wants, DM me for details if you're interested.
Alt: A somewhat short and stocky blond man with a goatee, one hand on a cane, the other on a globe, staring intesely to the right into the distance in a moodily lit brown room. In the background are a small flame chandalier, a passage to a hallways with a flower bouquet on a table in a blue vase by a painting, and a large bookcase with many tomes, an animal skull, a glass, a ship in a bottle, and a model ship with orange fan sails. The table with the globe is covered in a white draping cloth and also carries a pot of ink, a velu or parchment weighted down by a stone, a sextant, a pocket telescope, a stamp for wax seals, and a compass. The nobleman is dressed in fine brown clothes with white gray ruffles and a blue sash. He wears a gold medallion on a red ribbon around his neck, and his brows are furrowed.

Any genre of game can have a disabled protagonist if you aren't a coward / willing to put the work in, but I'm currently batting around the concept of specifically point-and-click puzzle adventure games with a highly disabled protagonist.
Often, the pace of such games tends sedate and contemplative. Your character is seldom in a hurry; they are mostly faced by trying to figure out how to accomplish a particular task, and if a deadline is imposed, it's an extra thing to juggle.
This could be an interesting presumption to incorporate from a watsonian lens, through the viewpoint of a protagonist who may have limited mobility, pain and/or fatigue that make hurrying punitively inaccessible. It'd let the player familiarize themselves with early puzzles if the first thing they have to figure out how to do is say, get their player character out of bed in an environment where they don't have their usual fallbacks.
(also if this is also a walking adventure, it'd let you dodge accusations of the insurmountable waist-high fence- your intrepid hero MIGHT be able to climb over those bricks if they didn't have two bad hips and a walker to worry about!)
#writing ruminations#speaking broadly I think there should be way more games that have disabled protagonists and directly incorporate the protagonist's conditio#into game mechanics and structure#like that game Endoparasitic that had the basic premise your character has only one remaining limb (right arm)#and how this affects the structure of everything you have to do#I recall also hearing about a game where you play a blind protagonist navigating a haunted house#where tapping your cane to identify your surroundings is both instrumental and risky as the hostile forces can hear it

man. knowing techno had a song for a final sendoff really Hurts bc i've thought about what mine would be for a very long time and now that someone has given me theirs i actually dont think i like the feeling it leaves behind! idk if i could do that to someone else
#tw death#grief#whatever yall are tagging idk#chat#if you've been here long enough (most of you have tbh) you might know music is like 90% of the way i navigate my emotions#cant feel anything? try music maybe you'll understand what's happening in your brain 👍#so of course i had songs in my head that were like. if i wanted to help someone understand my death this is what i would show them#but now that i have one from someone else#i dont like the pain this specific thing gives. it hurts enough normally but music is so EXTREMELY personal to me#i always wanted to hear more songs he liked aside from the few i knew from tristam and fox stevenson. But Not Like This#my go-to is poppyfields by coldplay btw. if you're curious. mostly the instrumental part at the end#but there's a few more#excursions by c418 was a big one to me. phil played it when he was building techno's thing and i had to leave :(#are those weird choices? maybe. but they make sense to me. maybe not anyone else if i would show them lol

Learn the Difference
Astrolabe vs. Armillary Sphere
Both scientific instruments provide information about the position of stars through the course of a year, however, they are dramatically different objects. The astrolabe works by projecting the night sky into a flat 2D circle, while the armillary sphere is a round object.
This is a common misconception for artists to make. Astrolabe is perhaps the most recognizable word, but very often it is used in the place of an armillary sphere (see Magic example below)
The easiest way to tell them apart is that an astrolabe is typically a flat instrument and armillary spheres are round and hollow to accommodate the rotation of the celestial sphere
3D astrolabes have existed, at least in historical texts, but they are far more rare and are not hollow

Back from concert!! It was awesome!!!
I sat next to a guy named Phil who gave me a Rob Zombie poster he'd bought but didn't end up wanting (said his wife wouldn't appreciate him hanging it in the house)
It was nice of him, but it's added one more to the weird trend I've noticed throughout my life of People Just Giving Me Stuff
#once got an umbrella from a Chinese lady I spoke to several times on the SF MUNI in high school#(she said I could give it back to her next time I saw her but I never saw her again while I had the umbrella)#once got given a free ticket to a play I was just about to buy tickets for in college#(random woman accidentally bought too many and gave one to the first person she saw which was me)#once got a plastic lightsaber from another random woman after I helped her navigate East Coast regional rail#currently own five musical instruments four of which were gifted to me#(last one was my grandma's guitar that I just took because no one else wanted it)#bf gave me a stuffed animal of his that I had taken to cuddling when I was at his parents' place#our landlady has given me various pouches and a nice jacket for seemingly no reason#and now this Rob Zombie poster#guess there's something about me that just says Hi Give Me Your Things

Elevating Healthcare: Guide Extension Catheter Market Overview
The global guide extension catheter market is anticipated to reach USD 376.58 million by 2030. Increase in patients with cardiac disorders such as angina pectoris and myocardial infarction, as well as rise in inclination toward minimally invasive procedures are the key factors anticipated to drive the guide extension catheter market growth.
Gain deeper insights on the market and receive your free copy with TOC now @: Guide Extension Catheter Market Report
The COVID-19 outbreak in the year 2020 was expected to have a negative impact on the guide extension catheter market. This is due to the decrease in the number of coronary surgical procedures. Both coronary angiography and PCI volumes decreased by 64.0% in April 2020 as compared to April 2019 according to NCBI in 2021. However, due to the ease of restriction, countries have resumed elective procedures, suggesting that the market will keep growing during the forecasted period. These qualities are anticipated to create lucrative market growth opportunities.
CVDs have become one of the major causes of mortality and morbidity worldwide during the last three decades. As per the CDC in 2021, heart disease is a leading cause of death in both sexes and members of the majority of the racial & ethnic groups in the U.S. Moreover, CVD claims 1 life every 34 seconds in the U.S. Guide extension catheters increase guide back-up support and are crucial in complex PCI procedures. Thus, increasing cases of CVDs globally are anticipated to drive the number of cardiac catheterizations, angioplasty, and Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI), thereby contributing to the market growth.
Moreover, technological advancements in guide extension catheters can support professionals in identifying patients with a high risk of disease which is anticipated to stimulate market growth. For instance, in May 2019, Medtronic announced the launch of Telescope (TM) Guide Extension Catheter, a newly designed catheter to provide additional backup support and access to distal lesions. As a result, the market is expected to grow during the forecast period.

'Sir,' said Captain Nemo, showing me the instruments hung on the walls of the room, 'here are the instruments necessary for the navigation of the Nautilus. Here, as in the saloon, I have them always before me, and they indicate my position and exact direction in the midst of the ocean. You are acquainted with some of them.'
