Orne Harbour: We made a landing to climb Spigot Hill and pay a visit the hilltop colony of Chinstrap penguins - and their gray, fluffy chicks! The wind was calm and the visibility was great. I think I was last one up the hill and (as usual) the last one down. Orne Harbour: Enjoying a little time up here with the Chinstraps. In the distance, you can see the steep slope the penguins climb to reach the rocks and build nests away from the snow. Enterprise Island: A beautiful day with excellent visibility to explore the neighborhood by zodiac. Surrounded by semi-submerged rocky shorelines, grounded icebergs and spectacular mountain landscapes, all prospects seemed to prove my theory there is no such thing as a dull view from a zodiac.

Foyn Harbor: Here rests the SS Guvernoren, a reminder of the whaling days. In 1915, a fire overtook the 433 ft/132 m whale factory ship which - was likely brimming with whale oil at the end of a busy season. The captain deliberately grounded her in this cove and all men were saved. Today only a small portion of her rusted steel bow remains above the waterline. Abandoned and left to the powerful Antarctic elements, nature seems to be slowly embracing her - or at least the Antarctic terns nesting in her bow certainly have!
