88 - Help Yourself
(Inspired by the official Deltarune Halloween/6 year anniversary artwork by Temmie Chang. It's really cute, go and check it out if you haven't done so yet!)
(content warnings for stylised gore and suggestive language)
Trick-or-Treat! I made lots of delicious candy for you to eat, so please help yourself to as much as you want! That's what it's for, after all!
What do you think of my costume? I worked very hard on it, so I'd look as sweet and yummy as possible! Wouldn't you say I look good enough to eat? Haha, there's no need to be shy, I can already see you licking your lips...
...but how rude of me, after you've come all this way! Your costume is to die for - robes black as night, collar crimson like jelly... and what adorable little fangs you have there! All the better to take a bite out something delectable, wouldn't you say?
Oh, and isn't that... a knife? You should be very careful around me with that, because everyone knows that cakes are weak to knives, haha! ...b-but if you really wanted to, I wouldn't say no if you were to help yourself to a slice or two...
...don't think about it too hard, my light. It's okay, none of this is real anyhow... so go ahead and treat yourself!Run your greedy fingers through my immaculate frosting, sink your blade into my crumbling sponge and cut yourself a second, third, fourth helping. That's it, take as many mouthfuls as you please... doesn't it taste good? And oh, dare you lick the jam and crumbs from your knife, for just one last little taste of me? Don't fret about the mess, my dear - someone else will clean it up.
And when you've had your fill and I am nothing more than a memory, tell me... will your appetite have been satiated then? Will I have finally fulfilled my purpose and made you happy, even if only for that short, sweet while? Will the taste of my love linger on the tip of your tongue, or shall it fade away the moment you find another treat to devour?
...regardless, I hope that you enjoy me to the fullest. It's what I'm for, after all.

This is based on Justice league, crisis on two earth's ending plot
The hero arrives to a barren exo planet ,instead of finding a bomb and a man , he finds a being with no discernable features writing notes next to a massive machine
"Who are you, where's am i?" The hero with an unbreakable said
"You are where you need to be... all that happened was a lie to get you here...as I wish to ask your opinion on a nihilistic dilema as your world view is perfect...for the answer that is needed"
The hero took a moment and asked, "So there's no bomb?"
The mysterious being "no there isn't ,....this world represents the true earth prime as nobody is truly capable of getting to it...,I wanted to see what happened here and why the writers nihilistically made this planet a barren exo planet,so I made a machine...to look into the past of this planet and what I saw...answered everything nihilistic, however I wanted to see if it would be the same for you, hero if it is the same ...it speaks volumes about life...on why we are here on why humanity exist"
The hero walked over as his curiosity of the answer of life took over he took the headset... and watched
What he saw was history taking place on a planet with no hero, no villains, a planet, just like what the reader you read
And then a cut to the now
"It ended...suddently...and so far it appears nothing is good at all," the hero replied
"The same thing I saw,the same thing I live in... now to the answer of life...life is nihilistic always has been, life is finite and harsh and all that nature and life can do is live with the time it can...however at the same time it appears to fight ,fight against this nihilistic view... the outcome was humans... and the outcome wasn't quite as expected. Humans ended up working against nature in many ways and using it..tearing and destroying what little life there is ,even also tearing itself apart... and yet life and humans kept going ,eventually reaching to a modern time where the nihilistic values fight against the morals human placed upon themselves, in a world that is many shades of grey,neutral.. no heroes even tho they try to make some almost as false idols in a way and evil people those perhaps who are nihilistic in world view... not even speaking about the selfishness in humanity as well humans repeated the same mistakes time and time again ,even teaching passed down from history did not work to quell the onslaught of mistakes, now these people are on the verge of war that it will end up in disaster...,the reason you are here and now is due to these people's, once these people are gone its over all life that there is in your world and countless stories they've written it will never end as a story should"
The hero listened, "And why did you bring me here?" The hero will finally begin to waver as reality sits in
"I brought you here as a final attempt a hope that the people...of my world would listen but I doubt they will as always as I am a small writer nobody would ever listen or read anything I do as I am a nobody after all ,my people live in delusion and over all the 7 sins, and it's tearing itself appart,I know they will deny these warnings yet again, the only thing that keeps me going is a legend or perhaps myth based on religion ,also if a bomb ever went off here nothing would happen...you perhaps will forget this encounter as soon as you leave or perhaps remember it...I do not know as after this I bear no control over you hero once you are gone from here now you should head home"
The hero was looking out at the stars. Having partially zoned out, "I have a question." he turned around to face the writer, and they were gone, and the portal home was open, the hero let out a sigh and walked over
"Farwell hero"
The hero heard just as the portal closed behind him he was home, and it's unknown if he will ever remember the encounter

❝   hey stop— stop!  look at me.  they’re dead now.  you can stop.  ❞ + imogen/bix xxx
First of all, sorry this took me forever to get to! Second, thank you!!!! I probably enjoyed this one a lil too much… but so did Imogen. Warning for strangulation under the cut!
Bix stopped dead in her tracks and Imogen saw the color drain from her face. She tried to follow her line of sight, but nothing in the crowd stood out. “What is it?” she asked and stepped closer, protectively reaching for Bix’s waist.
“That man over there by the café,” Bix muttered as her body started to tremble. Imogen saw him now. A rather unremarkable looking man in an Imperial doctor’s uniform conversed with another officer just outside of the establishment. He appeared exceptionally ordinary in almost every way, easily blending in with the many faces of the Empire and did not seem very threatening at all. Apart from his smile. Something about it felt off and unsettled even Imogen. “Doctor Gorst, he… he was the one who…”
“The one who interrogated you,” Imogen guessed. She did not need Bix to confirm, certainty settled deep within her bones and replaced the ice in her veins with a sudden fury – white-hot and steeped in hatred. The feeling tightly coiled her muscles like a predator who was about to pounce.
Panic seized Bix’s tone. “I-I can’t be here. If he sees me –”
“He won’t,” Imogen said with eerie calmness.
She kept her vengeful gaze locked on the doctor as she removed her coat and draped it over Bix’s shoulders. Gorst’s role as an Imperial interrogator granted him the privilege of two Stormtroopers to guard him in public spaces, but Imogen saw little issue in that. She pulled her attention away from the small group to address the mechanic.
“Keep out of sight,” she softly instructed and pulled the hood over Bix’s head. “He will not see you.”
Bix shook herself out of a stupor when Imogen began to walk away. Her hand shot out and caught the other woman’s wrist. “Hey, wait, what are you doing?”
“I’ll be right back.”
“Imogen –”
Imogen placed a reassuring hand on the side of Bix’s face, her thumb gently stroking her cheek. The look of alarm in her beloved’s eyes was the only excuse she needed. Imogen would not allow this ghost to haunt Bix any longer. “I will return to you shortly.”
Without another word, she severed their contact and smoothly blended into the general bustle on the street.
Imogen deftly weaved her way in between bodies that were nothing more than faceless obstacles to her, blocking her from her prey. The absence of her coat may not offer as much cover as she would prefer, but she kept her head down and managed not to draw attention to herself. The doctor finished his conversation and made his leave with the guards. Imogen trailed behind them while maintaining a safe distance, patiently waiting for the right opportunity to strike.
That opportunity came when the doctor was directed down a barely populated side street. Imogen had studied the city before their mission. She knew the layout enough to quickly calculate an alternate route which would position her ahead of them, allowing her the advantage of cutting them off at the pass. She picked up her pace and slipped into an alleyway behind two markets. A few quick turns and a couple of vaults over rusted fences later and she pressed up against a shadowed wall, attuning her senses to the footsteps that approached from around the corner. This will be swift and simple.
Once they were where she wanted them, Imogen stepped out to halt their progress. She eyed the doctor who tilted his head curiously at her unexpected appearance. The troopers on the other hand lifted their blasters and aimed directly at her chest.
“Move out of the way, citizen,” the one on the left ordered.
Imogen did not bother to even look at them. “Leave us,” she calmly commanded, her voice penetrating their minds and seizing control of their faculties. Both troopers simultaneously straightened as they lowered their weapons. Gorst frowned at his guards, but a short moment passed and Imogen watched with satisfaction as his eyes gradually widened in fear. She smiled and uttered one final instruction as the Stormtroopers harmlessly marched by her. “Seek out your commanding officers and apologize for abandoning your posts.”
They repeated her words in robotic tones and carried on until they were out of sight. Imogen stood like a statue in front of the doctor, soaking up the terror that rippled through him. Gorst still hadn’t uttered a single word – didn’t dare to. He stood nearly as still as Imogen, unsure when to expect the killing blow. She felt no rush.
“Do you wish to know what this is?” she asked.
Gorst swallowed hard and wrung his hands together. “I could hazard a guess, given my line of work.”
“You damaged someone very dear to me.”
A bead of sweat rolled down his temple. “I-I don’t damage them, I merely –”
Imogen waved her hand and the doctor flew across the alley until he slammed into the far wall with a grunt. The back of his head made a hollow sound as it knocked against ferrocrete. His pain was music to Imogen’s ears. She kept him pinned there and casually approached, unclipping her lightsaber from her belt.
Gorst began to grovel pathetically. “Please, please, it was just a job. It’s just my job!”
Imogen hesitated before igniting her blade. Just a job. It is never just a job when one is a servant to the Empire. She once derived sick pleasure from the horror committed by her own hands. The image of Gorst’s unsettling smile flashed in her mind’s eye. He enjoyed it as well. The doctor had even filled a seat she had once occupied, in a way. They were much too similar and it disgusted Imogen to her core, especially when the next face she conjured was Bix’s the day she rescued her from this very man’s torment.
Deciding Gorst was unworthy of such a death, Imogen clipped the saber hilt back onto her belt. The hand she held out to keep him in place slowly started to close. Through the Force, she felt the doctor’s windpipe shut under her influence. She watched him struggle for what little breath she allowed – watched his eyes bulge as he realized he could no longer draw in any oxygen. She watched his lips turn blue. She watched every second of it, not noticing that she had inched closer and closer.
It wasn’t until she felt a tendon in his neck snap that Imogen looked down to see her hand wrapped tightly around his throat. At some point she had stopped channeling the Force altogether to strangle this man with her bare hands. She did not relent. Life still pumped through his veins. Her free hand joined the other and she squeezed with all her might and then some. Doctor Gorst’s heart would not give in easily, but eventually it could no longer fight Imogen’s violent will to snuff it out.
A pair of warm calloused hands materialized and cradled the sides of Imogen’s face, yanking her out of the dark trance she had been in. “Hey, stop – stop! Look at me.” Bix’s rich brown eyes filled her field of vision as the mechanic directed her gaze away from the doctor. “He’s dead now. You can stop.”
The rest of the world snapped back into focus and Imogen finally released her grip, the empty shell of Doctor Gorst crumpling to the ground in a heap. “Bix,” she breathed. “What are you doing? Why are you here?”
Bix continued to pull her away. Her eyes kept shifting from what was left of Gorst to Imogen. “I was worried about you.”
“I’m fine. I took care of it.”
“Clearly.” Her eyes lingered on the body for a few moments with an expression Imogen struggled to decipher. “We should have taken him alive, Imogen.”
“No,” Imogen replied with a sneer towards the body. “We really shouldn’t have.”
“They’ll just replace him.”
She knew it to be true, even before she took Gorst’s life, but a vengeful passion flared within her. “Then I will kill them, too. And I will kill any more after that.”
Bix stared at Imogen, absorbing her vow, and reached for the same hand that had just strangled a man to death. Instead of the usual chill of her skin, Imogen’s palm felt hot as it delicately fit against Bix’s. “Thank you. Really, you know I’ll sleep a little better at night knowing he’s gone,” Bix said in earnest. “But you can’t do something like this again. The rebellion is struggling enough as it is, we need every bit of leverage we can get and Gorst could have been more valuable to us alive. This put the mission at risk, Imogen. I really don’t want to worry about what the alliance will do if they start to view you as a liability.”
From the very moment they warily allowed her in, Imogen expected the alliance were just waiting for an indiscretion such as this. She hadn’t cared in the slightest before and certainly had no intentions of apologizing, but the frightened gleam in Bix’s eyes struck Imogen with the sudden desire to correct her actions. What defense could she possibly make? That she murdered an asset because he deserved it as much as she did?
“I will deliver a more valuable prize instead,” Imogen declared.
“Like what?”
“I am still a hunter and the Empire is full of prey.”

even the idea that “we evolved social bonds to benefit ourselves” is misleading in of itself tbh.
It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking species evolved different mechanisms to better survive by that’s putting the effect before the cause. a trait arose, and if they happened to be beneficial, then those with the trait lived longer and had more babies than those without it.
We didn’t choose to become kind *just* because it helped us survive. Some early humans (honestly it was probably basal primates or possibly even earlier ancestors) started helping each other at some point, maybe even without a purpose beyond the act itself. And guess what? It turned out that being cooperative led to increased survival among those groups, while the more hostile individuals failed to be as successful. And today we’re social animals because we are the descendants of people who valued friendship more than purely self-gain. Love won.
zany to me how these um actually nihilists like to pretend that "um actually love/friendship/cooperation/kindness isn't real bc we evolved that way to benefit ourselves as a species..." um YES? that's also where tool use comes from? that's where cooking comes from? am i supposed to think social bonds & tool use & cooking aren't "real" because they evolved over time instead of appearing fully formed from the ether?
sorry u can't enjoy things. im a superior being twirling a fork in my bowl of delicious noodles whilst staring in adoration at the world

Sighs and makes a token bloodfiend nugget
#rat rambles#oc posting#I wasn't going to but one of my older nuggets has been needing literally anything for me to work with for a while now#and Ive been coming up with some ideas but for them to work Id need them to be at least semi immortal which Im sure I could bullshit some#justification for but bloodfiend is much easier plus it does work well with the concepts I have rn#long story short they (parker) got very existential about the weight of time and the concept of eternal suffering as a wee bloodfiend#for a bit they sought to make themself as empty and unfeeling as they could until they realized what they saw as emptyness was in itself an#experience that they were in fact experiencing and feeling and they got even more existential about the nature of existing and what it#means to exist and decided that to exist is an imperfection but that one cannot simply stop existing so all there is to do is wait#which lead to them forming a more laid back attitue generally speaking but with a thick layer of judgement towards everyone around them#they consider themself deeply merciful to those around them as while you cannot stop existing you can cut off traits and experiences#which they generally dont see as worth doing due to how taking away certain experiences leads to new ones but they do still see death as#barely a net gain in value just not enough so to become a serial killer over it#and again they see themself as super merciful and forgiving for not murdering people more and for generally 'trying' to be kind to others#theyre more polite than anything and polite very much does not equal kind especially in this instance#they have made plenty of enemies through their strong sense of self righteousness and said enemies include many family members#they dont mind though. they understand that most would be broken by the revelations theyve had (it did break them but dont tell them that)#(also theyre yknow wrong in general but this is abt how they view reality)
