This is everything I want from Natural Grocer's for next time I get a ride or even take the bus there!
A lot of this stuff is to bolster my immune system to prevent the likelihood of long COVID, manage brain fog (fibromyalgia and COVID related) etc.
Sadly I only have JUST ENOUGH in my account for my phone bill until further notice.

I'm starting to pack in preparation to move and boy. Shout out to natural grocers for the insane number of free reusable grocery bags I've accumulated over the last year and a half, they're gonna save my ass

Lazy Acres Natural Market, 1841 N Western Ave, Los Angeles (Los Feliz), CA 90027
Tumblr media
Lazy Acres recently opened in Hollywood. It’s a natural foods store that reminds me of Whole Foods and Bristol Farms. It’s clean, bright, and attractive with lots of organic produce and goods, supplements, and prepared foods. As for the prepared foods, you can build your own poke bowl or order fish tacos, BBQ plates, The salad/hot food bar is $11.99/lb and the food looked tasty. They also have prepackaged sushi, sandwiches, salads, sides, juices, hot soup bar, etc. There’s an in-store bakery and coffee/juice bar as well. The coffee bar serves organic coffee beans and organic milk.
The produce selection is impressive. They even had purple asparagus. The health and wellness selection is large and they also have very cute gifts (plush toys, tote bags), greeting cards, and fresh flowers. And there’s a bulk section. A Mary’s rotisserie chicken is $15.99.
My picks:
Gardein classic meatballs ($4.99): these are faux meatballs
Chicken tamale ($5.99): twice as big as your usual tamale, pretty moist, shredded chicken in a spicy red sauce, pretty good, a bit too salty
Lazy Acres has the same owners as Bristol Farms. Self-checkout is available. I noticed the parking lot had wider spaces – a thoughtful touch. If you want to dine there, they have a dining area. If you bring your own bag, you can ask for a token and then decide how that gets donated. They even have cooking classes.
4 out of 5 stars

i produce and sell a very specific, very niche product, so I'm not really sure that my experiences can be extrapolated across the grocery industry and I can't Really complain because wholesaling and distribution contracts are what got the business to where it is today but that doesn't mean I'm not pissed off. Like. Ok. I'm in value added dairy. My dairy farm is what we call a micro-dairy which means we're really never milking more than 15 cows at a time. In order to make dairy profitable you either have to produce at such a volume that the razor thin margins and government subsidies kick in, or u have to turn your milk into something else. I do the second one. My cows don't produce enough milk to meet demand for my product, so I have to buy outside milk. I purchase raw, organic, grass fed jersey milk for $.55 a pound which translates to about $4.72 per gallon (...yeah) anyway. I do A Lot of labor and add value to the milk which means that I can wholesale a unit for $5.11 with a distributor (I sell to them, they sell to wholesalers) price of $4.55. My farmer's market price is $7. Now this is what makes me mad on behalf of the general public: grocery stores sell the product that I sold to them for $5.11 to everyone else for $8 or $9.
