【Ikemen Zunka】 [Dress rehearsal report] Theatrical Company Dramatica ACT 4 / Witch and Gingerbread House
Tumblr media
Original Article
translated by phantombanquet
The first day of Theatrical Company Dramatica ACT 4 / Witch and Gingerbread House has kicked off at Shinagawa Stellar Ball on August 23, 2024! Here is a report on the stage rehearsal.
※ Please note that the report below the cut contains spoilers
For ACT 4, “Witch and Gingerbread House” will be performed based on Grimms’ Fairy Tale “Hansel and Gretel”!
This work is an original story by the theater circle and theatrical company ‘Dramatica’ organized by Wataru Hibiki, a character appearing in the idol produce game Ensemble Stars!!.
The appeal of the theatrical company Dramatica is its ‘double theatrical structure’ in which the characters from the game play the roles. This is a stage where fans of the game hold high expectations as they will be aboe to see a new side of the characters.
Another popular stage project of Enstars!!, which has continued to adapt stage projects since the first performance of ACT 1 in 2021, will depict a new story based on the fairy tale “Hansel and Gretel”!
We bring to you a detailed report on the stage, where the audience was captivated by the singing, dancing, and acting!
Tumblr media
Wandering through the forest, the brothers arrive at an ‘unfinished gingerbread house.’
The play begins with a scene in which Hansel (played by Mika Kagehira / Hiroki Ino) and Gretel (played by Nazuna Nito / Natsuki Osaki), who were abandoned by their step-mother, wandered into a forest, huddled up together.
Tumblr media
Hansel and Gretel realize that they have been abandoned, and try to act cheerful to shake off their sadness.
As they travel deeper into the forest, they discover a strange house. The house made up ‘sweets.’ In there, Patty (played by Wataru Hibiki / Kazuma Yasui) and Ark (played by Hokuto Hidaka / Ikkei Yamamoto) were are arguing over something.
Tumblr media
The cause of their argument is that they cannot compromise to their commitment to each other in order to fulfill the request of “creating the ultimate gingerbread house.” When Hansel hears their argument, he offers to help build the gingerbread house.
Tumblr media
Hansel is first asked to pick fruit for the raw ingredient of sugar. As he heads into the forest with his ‘taming whistle’ to ward off beasts, he is immediately attacked by a beast. Hansel was given a ‘taming whistle, but is unable to tame the beast because he has not been taught how to blow it.
In a tight spot, the witch Dicey (played by Shu Itsuki / Taiki Yamazaki) appears.
Tumblr media
Dicey plays a beautiful tune and tames the beast in the blink of an eye. The beautiful sound and the kindness shown by Dicey captivated Hansel as if “time had stopped.”
Tumblr media
Hansel is fascinated Dicey and asks to be his apprentice. Even though Dicey refuses, saying, “You are not a witch to begin with,” Hansel—with all his strength—pushes his way into Dicey’s house. Thus, Hansel became Dicey’s helper.
Tumblr media
Just when it seems that they are living in peace, something strange begins to happen to Dicey. It appears that the ‘secret’ that the witches possess is affecting them. Once the ‘secret’ is revealed, their relationship begins to change.
A suspicious figure watches over Dicey. Lao (played by Tsumugi Aoba / Hiromu Kudo) calls himself “a strange person who likes to take walks,” but what exactly is his true identity and purpose...
Tumblr media
Theatrical Company Dramatica ACT 4 is based on the Grimms’ fairy tale Hansel and Gretel and begins with a new story involving the strange encounter between a witch and children. Please enjoy the ‘miracle’ they create in the theater☆

Cast Comments:
Dicey (Shu Itsuki) played by Taiki Yamazaki
I thought that this work, Dramatica ACT 4, which was challenged under a new organization, was a result of fearless triar and error. Although this work is derived from Ensemble Stars!!, I think it has been completed as a single story, and I feel that we are getting closer to the real ‘Dramatica’ one step at a time. I would be happy if you could come visit the theater.
Hansel (Mika Kagehira) played by Hiroki Ino
First of all, I am happy to be involved in Enstars!! once again. I would like to take on the baton firmly and pass it on to the next in hopes that the series of works that have been performed and weaved will continue to be loved for many years to come! The result is a typical fun and pop-like work of Dramatica. I know this is personal... But I am sure I’ll be able to show you a side of myself that can only be seen in this work.... (Laughs). Everyone in this company is looking forward to your sweets.... No, or rather, your ‘visit’!
Gretel (Nazuna Nito) played by Natsuki Osaki
Since it was my first time to join Dramatica, I was quite nervous until rehearsals started, but I read the script, shared lines with everyone, and had a lot of fun being engaged during the rehearsals. This is Gretel, not played by Natsuki Osaki, but played by Nazuna Nito. I would like to bring you the fresh ideas born out of our imagination during rehearsals!!
Lao (Tsumugi Aoba) played by Hiromu Kudo
This will be Tsumugi's first time participating in Dramatica troupe, and I am very much looking forward to playing him as completely different from the Tsumugi Aoba in Enstage, which I did in the past! This work is based on ‘Hansel and Gretel,’ a fantasy filled with a human touch. I look forward to working with Tsumugi to figure out how to portray this original role of Lao. I will do my best to convey a wonderful work and show you a new side of Tsumugi Aoba. Please look forward to it!
Patty (Wataru Hibiki) played by Kazuma Yasui
I am truly grateful that this theatrical company Dramatica has continued to ACT 4 and that I am still able to play the role of Wataru Hibiki! ACT 1, 2, 3 each had their own unique color, and we will bring you another unique color this time as well! Please enjoy the newly directed and powered-up Dramatica by Ikkei-kun, who plays the role of Hokuto!
Ark (Hokuto Hidaka) played by Ikkei Yamamoto
Finally! Theatrical Company Dramatica ACT 4 / Witch and Gingerbread House has begun! A new fairy tale story based on Hansel and Gretel. The entire company has been working hard during rehearsals to create a work that will remain in everyone's hearts. In this work, the characters of Enstars!!, each played by a different person, faced their own thoughts and worries about their roles, and the answers to their worries are found in this work. I hope that you will remember each and every one of them in your hearts. I would like to deliver this production without missing a single person until the final performance, so we appreciate your support until the very end!

Dramatica Act 4 - Witch and Gingerbread House Cast Information
Since I'm posting song lyrics soon, I put together a very rough translation and compilation of information on the cast of Act 4. Beware of spoilers.
Official Synopsis
"After being abandoned by their stepmother, they find theselves lost in a frightening forest where a man-eating witch is said to dwell. The poor siblings then discover a house of sweets, which witches use to lure them, but it is still under construction as the witch Deicy is aiming to create the perfect one. With the children's arrival being earlier than expected, everyone is sent into a panic, but the two offer to help finish building it."
Profiles (Unofficial)
Deicy portrayed by Shu Itsuki (Taiki Yamazaki)
A witch-in-training who lives in the forest. They are Lao's disciple. Building the house of sweets, luring in a child, and eating them is part of their final examination to become a fully grown witch, but they haven't made much progress due to their perfectionist nature. They have a gloomy and stubborn personality and dislike interacting with other people, but end up submitting to Hansel's pleas to help them. With their magic dwindling, their instincts as a man-eating witch are starting to show themselves...
Hansel portrayed by Mika Kagehira (Hiroki Ino)
Gretel's older brother. A clumsy busybody of a child who is stubborn and one-track minded, but his kind and pure heart endears him to everyone he meets. After being abandoned in the forest with his brother, he is the one that offers to help finish building the house of sweets. He was saved by Deicy from wild animals while gathering ingredients for Patty and then became interested in them. He hopes to become Deicy's disciple, but they refuse him.
Gretel portrayed by Nito Nazuna (Natsuki Osaki)
Hansel's younger brother. A clever and precocious child who can be a bit rude, but means well. Although he's reluctant at first to help build the house, he ends up being very enthusiastic about it under Patty's tutelage. He dreams of owning a sweets shop someday to bring happiness to all children of the world. Unfortunately, he isn't very good at baking, but he's determined to improve.
Lao portrayed by Tsumugi Aoba (Hiromu Kudo)
Deicy's master and a fully grown witch cloaked in mystery. Their personality is difficult to read, and they are often playfully cruel to the other characters. They seem vexed by the slow progress of Deicy's final examination, especially as Deicy's magic is beginning to dwindle and they need to restore it soon. Despite their urging, it seems that Lao has not eaten a human child in a long time -- they suddenly stopped one day and no one knows the reason why.
Patty portrayed by Wataru Hibiki (Kazuma Yasui)
A genius patissier tasked with making the sweets for the house of sweets. He takes Gretel and Hansel under his wing when the two offer to help build the house and personally teaches Gretel how to bake. Despite appearances, he has a rough and manly personality. He has history with Lao and Deicy, as he also helped to make Lao's house of sweets for their final examination.
Arc portrayed by Hokuto Hidaka (Ikkei Yamamoto)
A genius architect tasked with making the design for the house of sweets. Like Patty, he also has history with Lao and Deicy as he designed Lao's house of sweets. He spends the first act of the play on a journey beyond the forest to discover newer, trendier sweets at Gretel's suggestion. In truth, he actually doesn't like overly sweet things that much.
Misc. Notes
Witches in this play are not explicitly gendered so I avoided any gendering language. However, the Japanese word for "witch" (魔女) does have the character for "woman" (女) in it, so interpret that however you like.
Witches eat human children to restore their magic since it does not restore over time and is depleted with every spell they use. If they run out of magic, they die.
Witches and other forest inhabitants live longer lifespans than humans, so Patty and Arc are much older than Lao and Deicy. The ages are most likely: Arc and Patty > Lao > Deicy > Hansel > Gretel.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD
It has been two years since I watched this show, and it just flashed in my head out of nowhere, while I was reading about the anatomy and physiology of the brain. Now that I think about it, why didn't I make a review of this movie earlier? After all, I loved it and I watched it several times more.
Okay, so here was the premise. There was this cheerful, talkative girl, Naruse Jun. She visited a castle-like love hotel and saw her dad and another woman there. In excitement, she told these sights to her mother, interpreting the situation as a fairy tale where her father is the prince, another woman is the princess, and the mother a witch. This resulted in the divorce of Jun's parents. Jun's father blamed her for it. After which, an egg approached Jun and cursed her by zipping her mouth and telling her that she was going to suffer when she talked. Many years later, Jun was a glum, mute girl in high school. Each time she spoke, she suffered from a stomachache. Along the way, however, their school hosted a musical. Jun could not talk, but she discovered that she could sing. She met three other characters, Sakagami Takumi, Tazaki Daiki, and Nito Natsuki, who also took part in the play. Now, these three people definitely changed her life forever.
First impression from the trailers? Definitely a tear-jerker. Reality? Well, the impressions are not exactly wrong. It was definitely a roller-coaster ride for me, not only because the movie was naturally a melodrama but because I related to it on a personal level. It was real. It did not shy away from exposing life's harsh realities, as well as adding elements of fantasy to them. It does not hesitate to bring to light the things that people would rather not talk about, and I love how the characters were able to say all the things that most of us were too scared to say. Parents separate. Their children get hurt and grow up broken in some way. People go through emotional turmoil. Lastly, people love but it does not mean that they will be loved in the same degree too.
Speaking of the last statement. Yes, I have problems with the ending. No, not in the way most people think. I think that Takumi rejecting Jun is perfect. It happens. Takumi choosing another girl instead? It happens. I was bummed for Jun, but when I look back in retrospect, Takumi did not actually show signs of being particularly attracted to her. He clearly cared for her, but his body language did not feel it. Many people criticize him for leading her on but honestly, I would do the same nice things he did to Jun to my guy friends, without me necessarily harboring feelings for them. Why? It was because they are my friends. Likewise, Takumi thought of Jun as his friend. He even accepted Jun and her feelings, because that is what friends do. Only, he did not return them.
What I don't understand is Daiki confessing to her. I am not saying that it was random, but their dynamic lacked development. I would be fine with this plot twist if Jun and Daiki had a little more screen time. No, I'm not saying I want a love triangle, either. I just wanted a more convincing execution of Daiki developing feelings for Jun, if that makes sense. Even if it is just in the way he looks at her, or his body language with her, it would be fine! Since this element was lacking in Daiki, I would much rather have nobody confess to Jun. She was going to be fine, whether somebody fell for her or not. Honestly.
If you have similar or different perspectives regarding this particular part, please leave it in the comments below. I would love to hear from you. 😀
Other than that, I actually love the movie. The cinematography is okay, but there are other things that caught my attention more. The soundtrack, for example. My bias is Tamago no Naka ni Wa, based on Around the World by Nat King Cole, mostly because I always loved the latter. Everyone in the main cast (except Nito Natsuki 😒) undergoes significant character development. While yes, it is obvious that Jun transformed the most, Tasaki also came to terms with his baseball issues and Takumi began to be more honest about what lied in his heart. I also love how the movie is clear about its theme, that words are powerful, double-edged weapons that can hurt or heal. Words caused Jun's parents to divorce. Words caused Jun to shy away from words, because they are unpredictable swords. Words also were the reasons why Jun finally found an outlet in expressing herself. Moreover, speaking involves more than just words. It involves the expression of the heart. For the most part of the movie, Jun barely spoke, but she was eager to express herself so much that her message eventually got across. She even got to actually speak again, and this is something which was beyond what she wanted. Also, Takumi, although he could speak normally, shied away from expressing his true sentiments for majority of the movie, and ironically, it was Jun who helped him speak.
Again, I apologize for not posting in a while. My college requirements are eating me up, hahaha! 😅

Started DREAM!ing at midnight, so technically started it on my birthday! XD;;
Though it asks you to enter a username, it seems like you are basically Yuma Mochizuki (the boy with the dark blue hair). Does that mean this is actually a BL game? Well, the blond guy does fall for the trap.
Anyway, you are Yuma. You’re from the countryside where you lived with your granny, and you sometimes slip into your regional dialect, like saying ‘aigato’ instead of ‘arigato’. This is your first time in Tokyo and you’ve come to attend this super elite high school called Shinonome that admits the creme de la creme of various different fields. And here I’m like Hope’s Peak?? Is this DR but much much happier??
Anyway, you get lost but manage to find a friendly policeman to drive you there. At the entrance is this super annoying announcer guy and a crowd of people waiting to see which celebrity or elite is starting school there. No one knows who you are… and are disgusted by your unsophisticated appearance…
You enter the school. In the courtyard, you see a guy with peach hair lying face down on the ground with a knife in his back! You panic! He’s fine though and asks if you’re all alone then asks you to remove the knife for him. You oblige. He walks off as if everything is fine and dandy, though there’s a hole in his back…
You meet some of the other students. Nito (with orange hair, voiced by Natsuki Hanae and is basically Senbura!Hideyoshi!) is a stage actor, very friendly and immediately announces that you’re new BFFs! XD Then Touji (the blond) who is the son of the prime minister or something asks if you’re a servant as he already misses having servants… Anyway, they ask what you’re famous for. You say you have no idea and that you aren’t special at all. However, you eventually realize that you’ve probably been admitted coz you’re really good at drawing manga! XD But it sounds like you’re kind of a ghostwriter mangaka who draws manga for others or something. Guess that’s why no one’s heard of you…
The bell chimes. Everyone rushes to the hall for the opening ceremony but all you see are beds! The rather bored teacher takes attendance and pronounces everyone’s names wrong! Can’t blame him as it is difficult to tell how a name is pronounced from kanji alone. He calls Touji ‘Fujiji’ and Nito decides that’s hilarious and what he’ll call him from now on! XD
The students all ask what is going on but the teacher won’t give them a straight answer. Then the principal gives an announcement on a big screen. He explains how they are trying out this new system this year where all students will need to form teams of two to complete in ‘lives’ as a means of improving their interpersonal bonds and increasing their ‘charisma’. Everyone is confused but before they can ask more about this, everyone is knocked out with sleeping gas!
In the dream world, a duo of senior students (peach hair and long pink hair) perform a ‘dream live’ for all the first years. Everyone is  very impressed with it. Then Nito screams because there’s an arrow through Touji’s chest! Everyone freaks out but Touji doesn’t feel any pain, yet no one dares pull the arrow out for him. Anyway, the teacher appears and explains how this is all just a dream and that Touji can will the arrow away. Touji does as he’s told and the arrow disapperas, but then pink hair speaks to him and more arrows appear on his chest plus hearts! Touji is in love~ XD And this is where the prologue story ends and the tutorial goes onto the other parts of the game. It’s basically similar to other raising/training games like EnStars, A3 & Anidol, so if you’re familiar with those, you’ll have no problem figuring out what to do.
There is a 'lesson’ function where you choose two characters to do stuff together to increase their bond. If you choose two cards with the target element shown next to the number of turns left, you get more gem things. The bonding thing fails if you choose the same character. The animation at the start of each lesson is really cute~! Your team leader goes to sleep as all this training happens in the dream world! There is also a 'battle’ function where your team competes with another team.
One special thing is the 'live viewing' function. You get to see MVs of the songs you’ve unlocked and the MVs apparently change according to the two characters you choose to star in it! If you press the ’?’, it shows you all the possible combinations. It uses 'live tickets’ that you get from 'battles’ I think. Can’t remember exactly.
So, you get enough gacha points in the beginning for a 10 pull of the gacha. Did not get any SSRs… but did get a Shigure card. Then I quickly completed all the newbie challenges and got another chance for a 10 pull. Again no SSR… but got Shigure looking scary with a kitchen knife!! He and i7!Sogo will get along just fine~!
Oh, and you can set two cards as your home screen, so I went with Shigure and Nito.
