02.01.23-02.09.23— Week 18 [Last Full Day in Paris & Back to TLV]
On our last full day in Paris, of course, we visited the quiche lorraine cafe. And then we visited the Musée National Picasso-Paris museum, which was around the corner from our apartment. Unfortunately, none of Picasso's artwork was on display at the time. But we were so fortunate to see the Faith Ringgold exhibit. Her work gave us a lot to talk about. This was my and Hero's favorite piece.
After the museum, we had to make a mad dash to pick up some coffee for friends back in Texas. As we were getting on to the very packed Metro to head back to the apartment, the kids got onto the subway and Marc and I could not get on in time. I tried with all my might to hold the door open and it shut on me. And then, their little faces were in shock as the train pulled away from the platform. A nightmare for many a mother happening in slow motion. Fortunately, everyone has phones so I was able to text Atlas that they were okay and they could get off at the next station. We boarded the next train to meet them at the next stop. It was a long 15 minutes until we were all back together. But they were so calm and collected.
We saved the Eiffel Tower for our last evening. It was so cold -- 33°! Queuing for the elevators to go up to each level was a tremendous level of patience for all of us, especially A+H. But the cold and the waiting were well worth it. It was a clear night and the views were incredible.
Off to power-eat sushi after all that waiting in the cold.
And home [to TLV] the next morning. [Waiting for the Uber to the airport. Atlas hates for a vacation to end. Hero was THRILLED to get back to TLV. Seriously, he was ready to return about one week into the three-week trip.]

Clinical Trials Day - Clinical trials are tests in which certain medications or supplements are tested by monitoring the effects among patients who have received the medication, and patients who have received a smaller dose or none at all. Clinical Trails Day is about raising awareness for these trails, how they save lives, and how important they are to the medical industry and furthering medical research.
Global Accessibilty Awareness Day - If you happen to be blind, deaf, or impaired in some way then it’s not uncommon to find technology can be more of a burden than a boon. Keeping technology accessible for everyone is the key theme of this day, and in an era when technology just keeps getting more and more a part of our lives, it’s never been more important.
International Red Sneakers Day - A mission to save the lives of those with food allergies while also sharing the story and memory of a boy who loved red sneakers. 11-year-old Oakley Debbs inspired the observance. He had a tree nut and peanut allergy, and he loved red sneakers. Sadly, he is also a testament that allergens kill. In November of 2016, Oakley died after eating a slice of cake made with walnut extract. The international initiative aims to raise awareness in support of all those with food allergies.
National Be A Millionaire Day - It celebrates the idea of being a millionaire. Very few of us haven’t imagined what it would be like to be a millionaire. If you happen to be one of the few, this holiday is for you. And also for those of us who like to imagine spending millions.
National Pick Strawberries Day - Encourages us to pick some strawberries. Right about this time of year, they start coming into season. And there is just something special about the taste of a sun-warmed strawberry picked straight off of the vine.
National Quiche Lorraine Day - Quiche Lorraine is believed to have originated in the rural Lorraine region of France. While it’s considered a French dish, it developed during a time when the Lorraine Region was under German rule. Even the word Quiche comes from the German word kuchen meaning cake.
National Rescue Dog Day - According to the ASPCA, approximately 3.3 million dogs enter shelters every year. When these abandoned and abused animals find their way to a shelter, each one needs a forever home and their potential is limitless. They’re rescue dogs. No matter their size, color, or breed, dogs will find a way to nuzzle, fetch, or beg their way into your heart. You will find it hard not to scratch one behind the ear.
Notebook Day - It seeks to speak to the world about the importance of journaling and what it can do to help us. We know all the things we journaled about before, most of us kept one as a kid, and all the poetry we read in English class often filled us with inspiration to write our own. As we encountered the challenges of youth, especially first love, the journal began being filled with angry thoughts, deep emotions, and the general process of trying to figure out who we were and what the world would make of us. Time has come to reveal that journaling is a vitally important process that can have profound psychological effects on the one keeping it.
Weights and Measures Day - 20th May 1875 was one of the most important days in history as relates to international trade and the exchanging of ideas across the globe. On this day the world came together and signed an International Treaty that meant that all the 59 states that signed agreed to use a standard system of weights and measures. In the same moment, the International Bureau of Weights and Measures was established to help organize future standardizations of the measurements that the world would use.
World Bee Day - It helps educate people about the importance of bees and what they do for the environment, which includes how they help grow 90% of the world’s wildflower plants, 35% of the world’s crops depend on bees to grow, and how they help build ecosystems all over the world. With these statistics, the United Nations has created various programs all over the world to increase awareness of protecting bees and what you can do to help this cause.
