It's been 30 years since Disney's The Lion King 1994 animated movie came out on June-24-1994 and let me tell ya: it's totally ROARSOME! Get it, roarsome? Oh, man. Anyways, it's the story about young lion named Simba (Jonathan Taylor Thomas), the heir of his father named Mufasa (James Earl Jones). Simba's wicked uncle and also the main antagonist named Scar (Jeremy Irons), plots to usurp Mufasa's throne by luring father and son into a massive stampede of wildebeests in the gorge, but Simba escapes, and only Mufasa is killed because Scar killed his own brother during the stampede which is really TERRIBLE. Simba returns as an adult (Matthew Broderick) to take back his homeland from Scar with the help of his friends were Timon the meerkat (Nathan Lane) and Pumbaa the warthog (Ernie Sabella). The reason why am I celebrating the 1st Lion King movie is because the lion is my number one favorite animal of all time since I've seen them in zoos and other places and that's why The Lion King movie series is one of my favorite Disney movies of all time and the songs from this movie and Rhythm of the Pridelands by Lebo M is totally ROARSOME, I'm not gonna lie to you guys.

Veteran actor Nathan Lane became a beacon of courage and humor at the inaugural Critics Choice Association's LGBTQ+ Celebration of Cinema & Television. The event, held on June 7th, 2024, honored achievements from the LGBTQ+ entertainment community, both on and off-screen. Lane, a recipient of the Career Achievement Award, used his acceptance speech to share a personal journey of self-discovery and pay tribute to friends who helped him navigate the challenges of coming out as gay in the public eye. Nathan Lane Reflects A Long Road to Public Acceptance While Lane had come out to his family in his early twenties and actively participated in Pride parades, his career trajectory in the 1990s, fueled by his breakout role in the hit comedy "The Birdcage," brought with it intense media scrutiny surrounding his sexuality. He openly expressed regret for not being more forthcoming at the time. "There were moments when I could have been braver," Lane admitted during his speech. "Oprah Winfrey, for instance, asked me on her show about playing a flamboyant character in 'The Birdcage.' Looking back, I wish I had simply said, 'Yes, I'm a gay man and proud of it!'" Lane eventually came out publicly in 1998, following the brutal murder of Matthew Shepard, a young gay student. He felt a responsibility to use his platform to raise awareness and potentially inspire others. A Supportive Community The LGBTQ+ Celebration wasn't just about Lane's story. The ceremony recognized a diverse group of LGBTQ+ talent, including Michaela Jaé Rodriguez (Pose), Matt Bomer (Fellow Travelers), and the teams behind shows like "RuPaul's Drag Race" and "We're Here." Among the presenters and attendees were prominent figures like Charlize Theron, Greg Berlanti, and Ricky Martin, highlighting the growing visibility and acceptance of LGBTQ+ voices in entertainment. Robin Williams: A Friend and Protector A particularly poignant moment came when Lane recounted the support he received from his late co-star, Robin Williams. During the period of heightened speculation about Lane's sexuality, Williams became a shield, deflecting unwanted attention and offering unwavering friendship. "Robin, with his characteristic kindness, told me not to worry, that I didn't have to address it publicly if I wasn't ready," Lane shared. "He went above and beyond to protect me whenever he could." Bette Midler: A Dose of Reality Another source of strength came from the legendary Bette Midler. Lane revealed her blunt advice on dealing with negativity in the public eye: simply ignore it. "Bette told me to stop reading the garbage people write," Lane said with a chuckle. "She reminded me that there are always going to be haters, but their opinions don't matter. It was a powerful and honest lesson." A Celebration of Progress The Critics Choice Association's LGBTQ+ Celebration represents a significant milestone. It acknowledges the historical underrepresentation of LGBTQ+ voices in film and television while celebrating their contributions and paving the way for greater inclusivity in the entertainment industry. The event serves as an inspiration to aspiring LGBTQ+ creators and performers, showcasing the power of authenticity and self-acceptance.

The Lion King is a 1994 American animated musical drama film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The 32nd Disney animated feature film and the fifth produced during the Disney Renaissance, it is inspired by William Shakespeare's Hamlet with elements from the Biblical stories of Joseph and Moses and Disney's 1942 film Bambi. The film was directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff (in their feature directorial debuts) and produced by Don Hahn, from a screenplay written by Irene Mecchi, Jonathan Roberts, and Linda Woolverton. The film features an ensemble voice cast that includes Matthew Broderick, James Earl Jones, Jeremy Irons, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Nathan Lane, Ernie Sabella, Rowan Atkinson, and Robert Guillaume. Its original songs were written by composer Elton John and lyricist Tim Rice, with a score by Hans Zimmer. The film has led to many derived works, such as a Broadway adaptation in 1997; two direct-to-video follow-ups—the sequel, The Lion King II: Simba's Pride (1998), and the prequel/parallel, The Lion King 1½ (2004); two television series, Timon and Pumbaa and The Lion Guard; and a photorealistic remake in 2019, which also became the highest-grossing animated film at the time of its release. In 2016, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". The Lion King is the first Disney film to have been dubbed in Zulu, the only African language aside from Arabic to have been used for a feature-length Disney dub. The Lion King is a 2019 American musical drama film directed and co-produced by Jon Favreau, written by Jeff Nathanson, and produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Fairview Entertainment. It is a photorealistic computer-animated remake of Disney's traditionally animated 1994 film of the same name. The film stars the voices of Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard, Billy Eichner, John Kani, John Oliver, Florence Kasumba, Eric André, Keegan-Michael Key, JD McCrary, Shahadi Wright Joseph, with Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, and James Earl Jones reprising his role from the original film. Plans for a remake of 1994's The Lion King were confirmed in September 2016 with Favreau attached to directed following box office successes for Disney remakes such as The Jungle Book (2016), which was also directed by Favreau. Disney hired Nathanson to write the screenplay in October 2016. Favreau was inspired by certain roles of characters in the Broadway adaptation and developed upon elements of the original film's story. Much of the main cast signed in early 2017, and principal photography began in mid-2017 on a blue screen stage in Los Angeles. The "virtual-reality tools" utilized in The Jungle Book's cinematography were used to a greater degree during filming of The Lion King. Composers Hans Zimmer, Elton John, and lyricist Tim Rice, all of whom worked on the original's soundtrack, returned to compose the score alongside Knowles-Carter, who assisted John in the reworking of the soundtrack and wrote a new song for the film, titled "Spirit", which she also performed. The film serves as the final credit for editor Mark Livolsi, and it is dedicated to his memory. With an estimated budget of around $260 million, The Lion King is one of the most expensive films ever made.
