OCTOBER FOURTEENTH — DAY ELEVEN
Santi thinks she needs a little fresh air, so he gets her into a wheelchair and takes her out to the little courtyard at the center of the hospital. She can’t remember the last time she just got to sit and enjoy the sunshine on her face without being chased. She seems scared at first, like she’s waiting for the moment she’ll have to get up and run. Santi reminds her again and again that she’s safe, that he won’t let anything happen to her. Nathan can’t get to her here, never again. Not with Santi around.
She looks smaller here, Santi thinks. Somehow smaller than she does in the hospital bed, and it hits him again how fragile she really is, how long the road ahead would be until she’s back to something close to her normal self, both physically and mentally.
Santi knows she’ll never be the same again. Neither will he.
The people they once were would never come back. Their old selves were the one thing Nathan stole that they could never get back.
They’ll find new normals. A new dynamic to mold into their new lives. Santi doesn’t want new, he just wants things to be how they used to. It’s safe, it’s what he knows and Nathan took that away, took her away.
His need for revenge is creeping up again.
OCTOBER FIFTEENTH — DAY TWELVE
“Do you know anything about where you were?” Santi asks her, finally caving, finally giving in to the piece of himself that has been dying to know more details, anything he can use to try and find Nathan.
She looks almost shocked that he’s asked, and he immediately wants to take it back. He tells her nevermind, not to worry about it but she shakes her head and gets this far-off look in her eyes for a moment or two before she answers.
“We were by a lake,” she mumbles, clearing her throat when her voice threatens to catch. “But there weren’t any other people around, it wasn’t the kind of lake people fished or swam in.”
“So it was secluded?”
“Yes.” She looks down at the blanket covering her lap, not stalling, remembering. Or trying to. Santi knows it’s hard, knows it comes to her in bits and pieces. “We were in a cabin. It was small and he kept me in the basement.”
“Don’t think about the basement,” Santi says immediately, not wanting to bring her back to that place — it wouldn’t help him, anyways. “Were there mountains, hills? Do you remember what kinds of trees there were?”
“Pine trees. Tall, tall pine trees. No mountains,” she mumbles, sounding somewhat detached and even though Santi wants to keep asking questions, he doesn’t want to push her. So he drops it. For now.
But she’s already got him figured out, and she looks almost devastated.
“You can’t go after him.”
“He’s not going to get away with what he did to you.”
“Santi you can’t.”
“Why not?” He doesn’t mean to sound so frustrated, so angry. It’s not directed at her, never at her.
She thankfully doesn’t take it that way, or maybe she’s just too agitated to notice, too panicked. “I don’t want him to hurt you.”
It’s valid, he thinks. He doesn’t get upset about it, doesn’t let his pride take a hit. Nathan had put her through hell, she knows what he’s capable of and she’s worried about what he’s going to do to Santi if he gets his hands on him even if Santi is confident he’ll never get so much as a swing in. Nathan will never see him coming.
“If you tell me what you remember, we can tell the police, we can tell Graves. They can go after him.”
“We both know that’s not why you’re asking.”
Santi looks away and shrugs his shoulders after a moment, folding his arms over his chest but it’s not defensive. It’s almost like he’s hugging himself. She notices and makes room for him in the bed again.
When he sits next to her, she lays her head on his shoulder. Santi cherishes any sort of contact she’ll give him, he knows it’s not easy for her to touch him. He grabs her wrist and gently presses his fingers to her pulse point, letting the steady, if not a little high, rhythmic beating remind him that she’s right there. She’s alive and she’s right there.
“I just want you to be here with me.”
She doesn’t want him to leave. Doesn’t want him to become so absorbed in finding Nathan that he pulls away from her, doesn’t want him to leave for days at a time so he can investigate any area that sounds like it might match where she was kept. She just wants him to be with her.
For right now, Santi thinks he can do that. For right now, it’s enough.
OCTOBER SIXTEENTH — DAY THIRTEEN
Graves asks her the same questions Santi had the day before. Santi tries not to listen, really he doesn’t because he’s trying so hard to do as she asked—he just wants to be there for her, just wants to give her what she needs.
But he can’t help it.
“I don’t remember if there was a road close by,” she admits, her grip on her blanket tight. “I thought there was but I might’ve been dreaming.”
“Did he have you blindfolded when he took you to the cabin?”
She shakes her head. “When I woke up I was already in the basement. I don’t know how long I’d been there but long enough for him too…”
She doesn’t finish her sentence. They already know. Santi bites the inside of his cheek so hard he tastes blood and the anger in his veins threatens to ignite again.
Santi wonders if he drugged her, or if she was still out cold from having her head bashed into the mirror. Either way, it makes him realize that she probably was never too far away from the city and it makes that anger running through his bloodstream turn from a little spark into a raging flame. Had she really been so close by? An hour, maybe two away?
They’d found her out around Montauk. There are pine trees out that way, around Southampton and Riverhead. Brookhaven. Was she on Long Island the whole time?
Santi makes a mental note to do some digging, even against her wishes. He just has to know, can’t let himself sit still while Nathan is still out there. He doesn’t think he’s stupid enough to try again, but what if…?
They have to find him. Santi has to find him.
He excuses himself out into the hall, feeling a little guilty as he feels her eyes watching his every move. He doesn’t think she wants him to leave but she doesn’t call out for him, doesn’t stop him. He pulls his phone out of his pocket and quickly scrolls until he finds Frankie’s number, hitting dial then waiting for him to answer, praying he will. He knows that he’s the only one that will help him.
Frankie picks up on the second ring. “Everything okay?” He doesn’t fill the space with pleasantries, doesn’t waste his breath on them because he knows Santi isn’t calling just to chat. He hasn’t done that in over a year.
“I think he kept her on Long Island,” Santi says, keeping his voice low incase anyone hears him. “She’s talking to the agent now and I think he might still be there.” No one had found the cabin when they’d been looking for him the first time, Nathan probably thinks it’s the only safe place left for him.
“Jesus Christ, not this again Pope,” Frankie sighs, and he doesn’t have to be standing in front of Santi for him to know he’s probably pinching the bridge of his nose.
“What the fuck do you mean?” Santi snaps, the agitation in his voice almost as clear as the anguish. “Don’t give me that. You really can’t just expect me to sit here and do nothing when he’s still out there.”
“You should be taking care of her.”
“I am.”
“Yeah but she doesn’t need you playing vigilante right now Santiago, she just needs you.”
It’s the same shit he already knows, the same shit the boys told him the first time. But-
“He could hurt her again. He’s still out there and he could hurt her again and if the FBI didn’t find him the first time they’re sure as hell not going to now.”
Frankie is quiet when he hears the desperation in Santi’s tone, when he hears just how badly Santi needs to keep her safe and how he truly believes the only way to do so is by taking care of Nathan, making sure he can never hurt her again.
“And you think we can?” Frankie sighs after a moment, and Santi can hear his foot tapping against the floor across the line.
Santi nods even though he’s by himself in that sterile hospital hallway, his grip on his phone tightening. “We have to. God, Frankie we have to.”
Frankie’s quiet again, for a long, long moment, thinking it over. “Give it a little more time. Please? For her. Then I’ll help you find this son of a bitch.”
Time. Santi doesn’t want to waste anymore time but he can’t do this alone. He needs Frankie to help him.
And he knows he’s right too. Santi doesn’t think he’s ready to leave her side yet either.
“Fine.”
OCTOBER SEVENTEENTH — DAY FOURTEEN
It’s been two weeks since she’s been back.
And it’s been an entire year since she was taken.
Santi wakes up beside her with a rock sitting in his stomach. He’s anxious, so fucking anxious that he thinks he might have a panic attack if he thinks about it for too long but he doesn’t know what else there is to think about.
Her, maybe. Just her.
He doesn’t think she knows what day it is, he’s not even sure if she remembers the date Nathan stole her. Fuck, he’s not even sure she knows it’s October right now, had she seen anything with a date on it since being back? Had anyone thought to tell her?
Santi shakes it off. He really doesn’t want to think about it.
So instead, he starts thinking about what he needs to do at home to get it ready for her.
He’d gotten a place with two bedrooms, just in case she wanted space and didn’t want to share a bed with him at first. He wonders if she’s going to use it. He’s already set it up with her favorite colors, her favorite things — books and cozy blankets and plants he hopes aren’t dead from his neglect. Maybe he’ll ask Jay to run over and check.
Fuck, had he even told her they moved? Or was she expecting to go back to the apartment where it all happened?
Images of a blood-soaked bathroom quickly fill Santi’s mind and he shakes his head, tries to force the gory pictures away.
Focus.
He needs to go grocery shopping. Maybe she’ll want to have a glass of her iced coffee with that too sweet creamer and a splash of coconut milk when she wakes up, maybe she’ll want her favorite chips and maybe Santi will steal them while they watch TV on the couch to bring some sense of normalcy to the situation.
Maybe they should do a grocery order together, so she can pick out things she wants to have. Or would having so many choices overwhelm her?
Santi doesn’t know how to do this. He’s getting ahead of himself anyways, they haven’t even mentioned discharging her yet but he imagines it’s coming sooner rather than later. How long did they typically keep people after these types of things? Is there even a standard for it?
She wakes up around eleven and seems fine, honestly. She doesn’t seem like she knows or if she does, she’s trying not to think about it either. She’s quiet for a while but she usually is in the mornings.
“Do you still work?” is the first question she asks him that day.
He nods, looking away from his phone, from the satellite map of Long Island he’s currently studying. “I took leave,” he says gently, tilting his head to the side. “Didn’t really feel like having to leave you for eight hours a day.”
She nods, picking at a scab that’s forming along the side of her thumb. She’s being doing that a lot recently, picking at different parts of her body. Santi knows it’s a nervous habit she’s developing and he takes her hands instead, holding them gently between his to redirect her.
“Why? Getting tired of me?” he teases, squeezing her hands a couple of times.
She flushes and immediately shakes her head, looking maybe just a little worried that she’d actually offended him but she calms back down when he kisses her knuckles.
“I just…don’t want to keep you from things.”
So she’s worried about keeping a sense of normalcy too.
“There’s nothing more important than you,” he assures her, squeezing her hands again. “Work will still be there when I decide to go back.”
She nods a little, closing her eyes and it looks like she has to force her next words out, like they don’t want to fall from her lips and would rather stay trapped in her throat.
“I guess I mean in general. I don’t…want to take up all of your time. Don’t want to screw up whatever life you made for yourself without me.”
Santi doesn’t know how to tell her that he wasn’t living without her. He was drowning himself in a bottle of whiskey, in random girls whose names he didn’t care to remember, in his sorrow and in his grief and his shame.
God, what a shame to be alive.
He wasn’t living, he wasn’t even sure he was surviving.
“There was no life without you,” he says simply, leaving it at that. He’s not sure he’ll ever be able to tell her about the booze or the girls or the nights he stayed up with a bottle of morphine dumped out into his hand, darkness on his mind. He doesn’t think knowing will do her any good.
Or maybe he just isn’t ready to face his sins quite yet. Maybe he’s scared she won’t be able to forgive him because God knows he can’t forgive himself.
Maybe he’s just selfish, maybe he just wants her to think he played the part of the grief stricken husband well and not like a monster. Santi has always been a monster, from his time in the military to private missions with the DEA.
He ruins everything he touches. He doesn’t want to ruin her.

Saturday memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Saturday, Third Week in Ordinary Time
(Liturgical Colour: Green: B (2))
First Reading 2 Samuel 12:1-7,10-17 David's penitence over Uriah.
The Lord sent Nathan the prophet to David. He came to him and said:
‘In the same town were two men, one rich, the other poor. The rich man had flocks and herds in great abundance; the poor man had nothing but a ewe lamb, one only, a small one he had bought. This he fed, and it grew up with him and his children, eating his bread, drinking from his cup, sleeping on his breast; it was like a daughter to him. When there came a traveller to stay, the rich man refused to take one of his own flock or herd to provide for the wayfarer who had come to him. Instead he took the poor man’s lamb and prepared it for his guest.’
David’s anger flared up against the man. ‘As the Lord lives,’ he said to Nathan ‘the man who did this deserves to die! He must make fourfold restitution for the lamb, for doing such a thing and showing no compassion.’
Then Nathan said to David, ‘You are the man. So now the sword will never be far from your House, since you have shown contempt for me and taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.” ‘Thus the Lord speaks, “I will stir up evil for you out of your own House. Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to your neighbour, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun. You worked in secret, I will work this in the face of all Israel and in the face of the sun.”’
David said to Nathan, ‘I have sinned against the Lord.’ Then Nathan said to David, ‘The Lord, for his part, forgives your sin; you are not to die. Yet because you have outraged the Lord by doing this, the child that is born to you is to die.’ Then Nathan went home.
The Lord struck the child that Uriah’s wife had borne to David and it fell gravely ill. David pleaded with the Lord for the child; he kept a strict fast and went home and spent the night on the bare ground, covered with sacking. The officials of his household came and stood round him to get him to rise from the ground, but he refused, nor would he take food with them.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm Psalm 50(51):12-17
R/ A pure heart create for me, O God.
A pure heart create for me, O God, put a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from your presence, nor deprive me of your holy spirit.
R/ A pure heart create for me, O God.
Give me again the joy of your help; with a spirit of fervour sustain me, that I may teach transgressors your ways and sinners may return to you.
R/ A pure heart create for me, O God.
O rescue me, God, my helper, and my tongue shall ring out your goodness. O Lord, open my lips and my mouth shall declare your praise.
R/ A pure heart create for me, O God.
Gospel Acclamation cf. Psalm 26:11
Alleluia, alleluia! Instruct me, Lord, in your way; on an even path lead me. Alleluia!
Or: John 3:16
Alleluia, alleluia! God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son: everyone who believes in him has eternal life. Alleluia!
Gospel Mark 4:35-41 'Even the wind and the sea obey him'.
With the coming of evening, Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Let us cross over to the other side.’ And leaving the crowd behind they took him, just as he was, in the boat; and there were other boats with him. Then it began to blow a gale and the waves were breaking into the boat so that it was almost swamped. But he was in the stern, his head on the cushion, asleep. They woke him and said to him, ‘Master, do you not care? We are going down!’ And he woke up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, ‘Quiet now! Be calm!’ And the wind dropped, and all was calm again. Then he said to them, ‘Why are you so frightened? How is it that you have no faith?’ They were filled with awe and said to one another, ‘Who can this be? Even the wind and the sea obey him.’
The Gospel of the Lord
R/ Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Saint Angela Merici, Virgin
(Liturgical Colour: White: B (2))
(Readings for the memorial)
(There is a choice today between the readings for the ferial day (Saturday) and those for the memorial. The ferial readings are recommended unless pastoral reasons suggest otherwise)
First reading 1 Peter 4:7-11 Each of you has received a special grace.
Everything will soon come to an end, so, to pray better, keep a calm and sober mind. Above all, never let your love for each other grow insincere, since love covers over many a sin. Welcome each other into your houses without grumbling. Each one of you has received a special grace, so, like good stewards responsible for all these different graces of God, put yourselves at the service of others. If you are a speaker, speak in words which seem to come from God; if you are a helper, help as though every action was done at God’s orders; so that in everything God may receive the glory, through Jesus Christ, since to him alone belong all glory and power for ever and ever. Amen.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm Psalm 148:1-2,11-14
R/ Young men and women, praise the name of the Lord.. or R/ Alleluia!
Praise the Lord from the heavens, praise him in the heights. Praise him, all his angels, praise him, all his host.
R/ Young men and women, praise the name of the Lord.. or R/ Alleluia!
All earth’s kings and peoples, earth’s princes and rulers, young men and maidens, old men together with children.
R/ Young men and women, praise the name of the Lord.. or R/ Alleluia!
Let them praise the name of the Lord for he alone is exalted. The splendour of his name reaches beyond heaven and earth.
R/ Young men and women, praise the name of the Lord.. or R/ Alleluia!
He exalts the strength of his people. He is the praise of all his saints, of the sons of Israel, of the people to whom he comes close.
R/ Young men and women, praise the name of the Lord.. or R/ Alleluia!
Gospel Acclamation Matthew 11:25
Alleluia, alleluia! Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for revealing the mysteries of the kingdom to mere children. Alleluia!
Gospel Luke 10:1-9 Your peace will rest on that man.
The Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them out ahead of him, in pairs, to all the towns and places he himself was to visit. He said to them, ‘The harvest is rich but the labourers are few, so ask the Lord of the harvest to send labourers to his harvest. Start off now, but remember, I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. Carry no purse, no haversack, no sandals. Salute no one on the road. Whatever house you go into, let your first words be, “Peace to this house!” And if a man of peace lives there, your peace will go and rest on him; if not, it will come back to you. Stay in the same house, taking what food and drink they have to offer, for the labourer deserves his wages; do not move from house to house. Whenever you go into a town where they make you welcome, eat what is set before you. Cure those in it who are sick, and say, “The kingdom of God is very near to you.”’
The Gospel of the Lord
R/ Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Saturday memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary
(Liturgical Colour: White: B (2))
(Readings for the memorial)
(There is a choice today between the readings for the ferial day (Saturday) and those for the memorial. The ferial readings are recommended unless pastoral reasons suggest otherwise)
Either:
First Reading Genesis 3:9-15,20 The mother of all those who live.
After Adam had eaten of the tree the Lord God called to him. ‘Where are you?’ he asked. ‘I heard the sound of you in the garden;’ he replied ‘I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.’ ‘Who told you that you were naked?’ he asked ‘Have you been eating of the tree I forbade you to eat?’ The man replied, ‘It was the woman you put with me; she gave me the fruit, and I ate it.’ Then the Lord God asked the woman, ‘What is this you have done?’ The woman replied, ‘The serpent tempted me and I ate.’
Then the Lord God said to the serpent, ‘Because you have done this,
‘Be accursed beyond all cattle, all wild beasts. You shall crawl on your belly and eat dust every day of your life. I will make you enemies of each other: you and the woman, your offspring and her offspring. It will crush your head and you will strike its heel.’
The man named his wife ‘Eve’ because she was the mother of all those who live.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
OR: --------
First reading Genesis 12:1-7 All the tribes of the earth shall bless themselves by you
The Lord said to Abram, ‘Leave your country, your family and your father’s house, for the land I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name so famous that it will be used as a blessing.
‘I will bless those who bless you: I will curse those who slight you. All the tribes of the earth shall bless themselves by you.’
So Abram went as the Lord told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran. Abram took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had amassed and the people they had acquired in Haran. They set off for the land of Canaan, and arrived there. Abram passed through the land as far as Shechem’s holy place, the Oak of Moreh. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. The Lord appeared to Abram and said, ‘It is to your descendants that I will give this land.’ So Abram built there an altar for the Lord who had appeared to him.

First reading 2 Samuel 7:1-5,8-11,16 The Lord will make you great; the Lord will make you a House
Once David had settled into his house and the Lord had given him rest from all the enemies surrounding him, the king said to the prophet Nathan, ‘Look, I am living in a house of cedar while the ark of God dwells in a tent.’ Nathan said to the king, ‘Go and do all that is in your mind, for the Lord is with you.’ But that very night the word of the Lord came to Nathan: ‘Go and tell my servant David, “Thus the Lord speaks: Are you the man to build me a house to dwell in? I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, to be leader of my people Israel; I have been with you on all your expeditions; I have cut off all your enemies before you. I will give you fame as great as the fame of the greatest on earth. I will provide a place for my people Israel; I will plant them there and they shall dwell in that place and never be disturbed again; nor shall the wicked continue to oppress them as they did, in the days when I appointed judges over my people Israel; I will give them rest from all their enemies. The Lord will make you great; the Lord will make you a House. Your House and your sovereignty will always stand secure before me and your throne be established for ever.”’

First reading 1 Chronicles 15:3-4,15-16,16:1-2 They brought in the ark of God and put it inside the tent that David had pitched for it
David gathered all Israel together to bring the ark of God up to the place he had prepared for it. David called together the sons of Aaron and the sons of Levi. And the Levites carried the ark of God with the shafts on their shoulders, as Moses had ordered in accordance with the word of the Lord. David then told the heads of the Levites to assign duties for their kinsmen as cantors, with their various instruments of music, harps and lyres and cymbals, to play joyful tunes. They brought the ark of God in and put it inside the tent that David had pitched for it; and they offered holocausts before God, and communion sacrifices. And when David had finished offering holocausts and communion sacrifices, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord.

First reading Proverbs 8:22-31 Before the earth came into being, Wisdom was born
The Wisdom of God cries aloud:
The Lord created me when his purpose first unfolded, before the oldest of his works. From everlasting I was firmly set, from the beginning, before earth came into being. The deep was not, when I was born, there were no springs to gush with water. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills, I came to birth; before he made the earth, the countryside, or the first grains of the world’s dust. When he fixed the heavens firm, I was there, when he drew a ring on the surface of the deep, when he thickened the clouds above, when he fixed fast the springs of the deep, when he assigned the sea its boundaries – and the waters will not invade the shore – when he laid down the foundations of the earth, I was by his side, a master craftsman, delighting him day after day, ever at play in his presence, at play everywhere in his world, delighting to be with the sons of men.

First reading Ecclesiasticus 24:1-4,8-12,18-21 From eternity, in the beginning, God created wisdom
Wisdom speaks her own praises, in the midst of her people she glories in herself. She opens her mouth in the assembly of the Most High, she glories in herself in the presence of the Mighty One: ‘I came forth from the mouth of the Most High, and I covered the earth like a mist. I had my tent in the heights, and my throne in a pillar of cloud. Then the creator of all things instructed me, and he who created me fixed a place for my tent. He said, “Pitch your tent in Jacob, make Israel your inheritance.” From eternity, in the beginning, he created me, and for eternity I shall remain. I ministered before him in the holy tabernacle, and thus was I established on Zion. In the beloved city he has given me rest, and in Jerusalem I wield my authority. I have taken root in a privileged people, in the Lord’s property, in his inheritance. Approach me, you who desire me, and take your fill of my fruits, for memories of me are sweeter than honey, inheriting me is sweeter than the honeycomb. They who eat me will hunger for more, they who drink me will thirst for more. Whoever listens to me will never have to blush, whoever acts as I dictate will never sin.’

First reading Isaiah 7:10-14,8:10 The maiden is with child
The Lord spoke to Ahaz and said, ‘Ask the Lord your God for a sign for yourself coming either from the depths of Sheol or from the heights above.’ ‘No,’ Ahaz answered ‘I will not put the Lord to the test.’ Then Isaiah said:
‘Listen now, House of David: are you not satisfied with trying the patience of men without trying the patience of my God, too? The Lord himself, therefore, will give you a sign. It is this: the maiden is with child and will soon give birth to a son whom she will call Immanuel, a name which means “God-is-with-us.”’

First reading Isaiah 9:1-6 A Son is given to us
The people that walked in darkness has seen a great light; on those who live in a land of deep shadow a light has shone. You have made their gladness greater, you have made their joy increase; they rejoice in your presence as men rejoice at harvest time, as men are happy when they are dividing the spoils.
For the yoke that was weighing on him, the bar across his shoulders, the rod of his oppressor, these you break as on the day of Midian.
For all the footgear of battle, every cloak rolled in blood, is burnt, and consumed by fire.
For there is a child born for us, a son given to us and dominion is laid on his shoulders; and this is the name they give him: Wonder-Counsellor, Mighty-God, Eternal-Father, Prince-of-Peace.

First reading Isaiah 61:9-11 I exult for joy in the Lord
Their race will be famous throughout the nations, their descendants throughout the peoples. All who see them will admit that they are a race whom the Lord has blessed.
‘I exult for joy in the Lord, my soul rejoices in my God, for he has clothed me in the garments of salvation, he has wrapped me in the cloak of integrity, like a bridegroom wearing his wreath, like a bride adorned in her jewels.
‘For as the earth makes fresh things grow, as a garden makes seeds spring up, so will the Lord make both integrity and praise spring up in the sight of the nations.’

First reading Micah 5:1-4 He will stand and feed his flock with the power of the Lord
The Lord says this:
But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, the least of the clans of Judah, out of you will be born for me the one who is to rule over Israel; his origin goes back to the distant past, to the days of old. The Lord is therefore going to abandon them till the time when she who is to give birth gives birth. Then the remnant of his brothers will come back to the sons of Israel. He will stand and feed his flock with the power of the Lord, with the majesty of the name of his God. They will live secure, for from then on he will extend his power to the ends of the land. He himself will be peace.

First reading Zechariah 2:14-17 'I am coming', says the Lord
Sing, rejoice, daughter of Zion; for I am coming to dwell in the middle of you – it is the Lord who speaks. Many nations will join the Lord, on that day; they will become his people. But he will remain among you, and you will know that the Lord of Hosts has sent me to you. But the Lord will hold Judah as his portion in the Holy Land, and again make Jerusalem his very own. Let all mankind be silent before the Lord! For he is awaking and is coming from his holy dwelling.

Gospel Matthew 1:1-16,18-23 The ancestry and conception of Jesus Christ
A genealogy of Jesus Christ, son of David, son of Abraham:
Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers, Judah was the father of Perez and Zerah, Tamar being their mother, Perez was the father of Hezron, Hezron the father of Ram, Ram was the father of Amminadab, Amminadab the father of Nahshon, Nahshon the father of Salmon, Salmon was the father of Boaz, Rahab being his mother, Boaz was the father of Obed, Ruth being his mother, Obed was the father of Jesse; and Jesse was the father of King David.
David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah’s wife, Solomon was the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah, Abijah the father of Asa, Asa was the father of Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, Joram the father of Azariah, Azariah was the father of Jotham, Jotham the father of Ahaz, Ahaz the father of Hezekiah, Hezekiah was the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amon, Amon the father of Josiah; and Josiah was the father of Jechoniah and his brothers. Then the deportation to Babylon took place.
After the deportation to Babylon: Jechoniah was the father of Shealtiel, Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel, Zerubbabel was the father of Abiud, Abiud the father of Eliakim, Eliakim the father of Azor, Azor was the father of Zadok, Zadok the father of Achim, Achim the father of Eliud, Eliud was the father of Eleazar, Eleazar the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob; and Jacob was the father of Joseph the husband of Mary; of her was born Jesus who is called Christ.
This is how Jesus Christ came to be born. His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph; but before they came to live together she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Her husband Joseph; being a man of honour and wanting to spare her publicity, decided to divorce her informally. He had made up his mind to do this when the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, ‘Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because she has conceived what is in her by the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son and you must name him Jesus, because he is the one who is to save his people from their sins.’ Now all this took place to fulfil the words spoken by the Lord through the prophet:
The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son and they will call him Emmanuel,
a name which means ‘God-is-with-us.’

Gospel Matthew 2:13-15,19-23 The flight into Egypt and the return to Nazareth
After the wise men had left, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, ‘Get up, take the child and his mother with you, and escape into Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, because Herod intends to search for the child and do away with him.’ So Joseph got up and, taking the child and his mother with him, left that night for Egypt, where he stayed until Herod was dead. This was to fulfil what the Lord had spoken through the prophet:
I called my son out of Egypt.
After Herod’s death, the angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt and said, ‘Get up, take the child and his mother with you and go back to the land of Israel, for those who wanted to kill the child are dead.’ So Joseph got up and, taking the child and his mother with him, went back to the land of Israel. But when he learnt that Archelaus had succeeded his father Herod as ruler of Judaea he was afraid to go there, and being warned in a dream he left for the region of Galilee. There he settled in a town called Nazareth. In this way the words spoken through the prophets were to be fulfilled:

He went in and said to her, ‘Rejoice, so highly favoured! The Lord is with you.’ She was deeply disturbed by these words and asked herself what this greeting could mean, but the angel said to her, ‘Mary, do not be afraid; you have won God’s favour. Listen! You are to conceive and bear a son, and you must name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David; he will rule over the House of Jacob for ever and his reign will have no end.’ Mary said to the angel, ‘But how can this come about, since I am a virgin?’ ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you’ the angel answered ‘and the power of the Most High will cover you with its shadow. And so the child will be holy and will be called Son of God. Know this too: your kinswoman Elizabeth has, in her old age, herself conceived a son, and she whom people called barren is now in her sixth month, for nothing is impossible to God.’ ‘I am the handmaid of the Lord,’ said Mary ‘let what you have said be done to me.’ And the angel left her.

Gospel Luke 1:39-47 Blessed is she who believed the promise
Mary set out and went as quickly as she could to a town in the hill country of Judah. She went into Zechariah’s house and greeted Elizabeth. She gave a loud cry and said, ‘Of all women you are the most blessed, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. Why should I be honoured with a visit from the mother of my Lord? For the moment your greeting reached my ears, the child in my womb leapt for joy. Yes, blessed is she who believed that the promise made her by the Lord would be fulfilled.’ And Mary said:

Gospel Luke 2:1-14 'In the town of David a saviour has been born to you'
Caesar Augustus issued a decree for a census of the whole world to be taken. This census – the first – took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria, and everyone went to his own town to be registered. So Joseph set out from the town of Nazareth in Galilee and travelled up to Judaea, to the town of David called Bethlehem, since he was of David’s House and line, in order to be registered together with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. While they were there the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to a son, her first born. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them at the inn. In the countryside close by there were shepherds who lived in the fields and took it in turns to watch their flocks during the night. The angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone round them. They were terrified, but the angel said, ‘Do not be afraid. Listen, I bring you news of great joy, a joy to be shared by the whole people. Today in the town of David a saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. And here is a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.’ And suddenly with the angel there was a great throng of the heavenly host, praising God and singing:
‘Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace to men who enjoy his favour.’

Gospel Luke 2:15-19 The shepherds hurried to Bethlehem and found the baby lying in the manger
Now when the angels had gone from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let us go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us.’ So they hurried away and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger. When they saw the child they repeated what they had been told about him, and everyone who heard it was astonished at what the shepherds had to say. As for Mary, she treasured all these things and pondered them in her heart.

Gospel Luke 2:27-35 'A sword will pierce your soul too'
Prompted by the Spirit Simeon came to the Temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the Law required, he took him into his arms and blessed God; and he said:
‘Now, Master, you can let your servant go in peace, just as you promised; because my eyes have seen the salvation which you have prepared for all the nations to see, a light to enlighten the pagans and the glory of your people Israel.’
As the child’s father and mother stood there wondering at the things that were being said about him, Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, ‘You see this child: he is destined for the fall and for the rising of many in Israel, destined to be a sign that is rejected – and a sword will pierce your own soul too – so that the secret thoughts of many may be laid bare.’

Gospel Luke 2:41-52 Mary stored up all these things in her heart
Every year the parents of Jesus used to go to Jerusalem for the feast of the Passover. When he was twelve years old, they went up for the feast as usual. When they were on their way home after the feast, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem without his parents knowing it. They assumed he was with the caravan, and it was only after a day’s journey that they went to look for him among their relations and acquaintances. When they failed to find him they went back to Jerusalem looking for him everywhere. Three days later, they found him in the Temple, sitting among the doctors, listening to them, and asking them questions; and all those who heard him were astounded at his intelligence and his replies. They were overcome when they saw him, and his mother said to him, ‘My child, why have, you done this to us? See how worried your father and I have been, looking for you.’ ‘Why were you looking for me?’ he replied. ‘Did you not know that I must be busy with my Father’s affairs?’ But they did not understand what he meant. He then went down with them and came to Nazareth and lived under their authority. His mother stored up all these things in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom, in stature, and in favour with God and men.

Gospel John 2:1-11 'My hour has not come yet' - 'Do whatever he tells you'
There was a wedding at Cana in Galilee. The mother of Jesus was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited. When they ran out of wine, since the wine provided for the wedding was all finished, the mother of Jesus said to him, ‘They have no wine.’ Jesus said ‘Woman, why turn to me? My hour has not come yet.’ His mother said to the servants, ‘Do whatever he tells you.’ There were six stone water jars standing there, meant for the ablutions that are customary among the Jews: each could hold twenty or thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, ‘Fill the jars with water’, and they filled them to the brim. ‘Draw some out now’ he told them ‘and take it to the steward.’ They did this; the steward tasted the water, and it had turned into wine. Having no idea where it came from – only the servants who had drawn the water knew – the steward called the bridegroom and said, ‘People generally serve the best wine first, and keep the cheaper sort till the guests have had plenty to drink; but you have kept the best wine till now.’ This was the first of the signs given by Jesus: it was given at Cana in Galilee. He let his glory be seen, and his disciples believed in him.
Or:
Gospel John 19:25-27 'Woman, this is your son'.
Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. Seeing his mother and the disciple he loved standing near her, Jesus said to his mother, ‘Woman, this is your son.’ Then to the disciple he said, ‘This is your mother.’ And from that moment the disciple made a place for her in his home.

How Did you come up with the first eve in the story about adams wives? I haven’t been able to find anything about her after I read it and I want to know if she’s an actual biblical character or just someone you made
She's from the Midrash. I learned about her as a 12 year old, from my barmitzvah teacher. There was a point in there, long after I'd put her into Sandman, where I was starting to think I'd imagined her, when I ran across her in Robert Graves's Hebrew Myths....
Excerpt from: The Hebrew Myths by Robert Graves and Raphael Patai (New York: Doubleday, 1964), pp 65-69
Chapter 10: Adam's Helpmeets
(a) Having decided to give Adam a helpmeet lest he should be alone of his kind, God put him into a deep sleep, removed one of his ribs, formed it into a woman, and closed up the wound, Adam awoke and said: 'This being shall be named "Woman", because she has been taken out of man. A man and a woman shall be one flesh.' The title he gave her was Eve, 'the Mother of All Living''. [1]
(b) Some say that God created man and woman in His own image on the Sixth Day, giving them charge over the world; [2] but that Eve did not yet exist. Now, God had set Adam to name every beast, bird and other living thing. When they passed before him in pairs, male and female, Adam-being already like a twenty-year-old man-felt jealous of their loves, and though he tried coupling with each female in turn, found no satisfaction in the act. He therefore cried: 'Every creature but I has a proper mate', and prayed God would remedy this injustice. [3]
(c) God then formed Lilith, the first woman, just as He had formed Adam, except that He used filth and sediment instead of pure dust. From Adam's union with this demoness, and with another like her named Naamah, Tubal Cain's sister, sprang Asmodeus and innumerable demons that still plague mankind. Many generations later, Lilith and Naamah came to Solomon's judgement seat, disguised as harlots of Jerusalem'. [4]
(d) Adam and Lilith never found peace together; for when he wished to lie with her, she took offence at the recumbent posture he demanded. 'Why must I lie beneath you?' she asked. 'I also was made from dust, and am therefore your equal.' Because Adam tried to compel her obedience by force, Lilith, in a rage, uttered the magic name of God, rose into the air and left him.
Adam complained to God: 'I have been deserted by my helpmeet' God at once sent the angels Senoy, Sansenoy and Semangelof to fetch Lilith back. They found her beside the Red Sea, a region abounding in lascivious demons, to whom she bore lilim at the rate of more than one hundred a day. 'Return to Adam without delay,' the angels said, `or we will drown you!' Lilith asked: `How can I return to Adam and live like an honest housewife, after my stay beside the Red Sea?? 'It will be death to refuse!' they answered. `How can I die,' Lilith asked again, `when God has ordered me to take charge of all newborn children: boys up to the eighth day of life, that of circumcision; girls up to the twentieth day. None the less, if ever I see your three names or likenesses displayed in an amulet above a newborn child, I promise to spare it.' To this they agreed; but God punished Lilith by making one hundred of her demon children perish daily; [5] and if she could not destroy a human infant, because of the angelic amulet, she would spitefully turn against her own. [6]
(e) Some say that Lilith ruled as queen in Zmargad, and again in Sheba; and was the demoness who destroyed job's sons. [7] Yet she escaped the curse of death which overtook Adam, since they had parted long before the Fall. Lilith and Naamah not only strangle infants but also seduce dreaming men, any one of whom, sleeping alone, may become their victim. [8]
(f) Undismayed by His failure to give Adam a suitable helpmeet, God tried again, and let him watch while he built up a woman's anatomy: using bones, tissues, muscles, blood and glandular secretions, then covering the whole with skin and adding tufts of hair in places. The sight caused Adam such disgust that even when this woman, the First Eve, stood there in her full beauty, he felt an invincible repugnance. God knew that He had failed once more, and took the First Eve away. Where she went, nobody knows for certain. [9]
(g) God tried a third time, and acted more circumspectly. Having taken a rib from Adam's side in his sleep, He formed it into a woman; then plaited her hair and adorned her, like a bride, with twenty-four pieces of jewellery, before waking him. Adam was entranced. [10]
(h) Some say that God created Eve not from Adam's rib, but from a tail ending in a sting which had been part of his body. God cut this off, and the stump-now a useless coccyx-is still carried by Adam's descendants. [11]
(i) Others say that God's original thought had been to create two human beings, male and female; but instead He designed a single one with a male face looking forward, and a female face looking back. Again He changed His mind, removed Adam's backward-looking face, and built a woman's body for it. [12]
(j) Still others hold that Adam was originally created as an androgyne of male and female bodies joined back to back. Since this posture made locomotion difficult, and conversation awkward, God divided the androgyne and gave each half a new rear. These separate beings He placed in Eden, forbidding them to couple. [13]

Authors’ Comments on the Myth:
1. The tradition that man's first sexual intercourse was with animals, not women, may be due to the widely spread practice of bestiality among herdsmen of the Middle East, which is still condoned by custom, although figuring three times in the Pentateuch as a capital crime. In the Akkadian Gilgamesh Epic, Enkidu is said to have lived with gazelles and jostled other wild beasts at the watering place, until civilized by Aruru's priestess. Having enjoyed her embraces for six days and seven nights, he wished to rejoin the wild beasts but, to his surprise, they fled from him. Enkidu then knew that he had gained understanding, and the priestess said: 'Thou art wise, Enkidu, like unto a godl'
2. Primeval man was held by the Babylonians to have been androgynous. Thus the Gilgamesh Epic gives Enkidu androgynous features: `the hair of his head like a woman's, with locks that sprout like those of Nisaba, the Grain-goddess.' The Hebrew tradition evidently derives from Greek sources, because both terms used in a Tannaitic midrash to describe the bisexual Adam are Greek: androgynos, 'man-woman', and diprosopon, 'twofaced'. Philo of Alexandria, the Hellenistic philosopher and commentator on the Bible, contemporary with Jesus, held that man was at first bisexual; so did the Gnostics. This belief is clearly borrowed from Plato. Yet the myth of two bodies placed back to back may well have been founded on observation of Siamese twins, which are sometimes joined in this awkward manner. The two-faced Adam appears to be a fancy derived from coins or statues of Janus, the Roman New Year god.
3. Divergences between the Creation myths of Genesis r and n, which allow Lilith to be presumed as Adam's first mate, result from a careless weaving together of an early Judaean and a late priestly tradition. The older version contains the rib incident. Lilith typifies the Anath-worshipping Canaanite women, who were permitted pre-nuptial promiscuity. Time after time the prophets denounced Israelite women for following Canaanite practices; at first, apparently, with the priests' approval-since their habit of dedicating to God the fees thus earned is expressly forbidden in Deuteronomy xxIII. I8. Lilith's flight to the Red Sea recalls the ancient Hebrew view that water attracts demons. 'Tortured and rebellious demons' also found safe harbourage in Egypt. Thus Asmodeus, who had strangled Sarah's first six husbands, fled 'to the uttermost parts of Egypt' (Tobit viii. 3), when Tobias burned the heart and liver of a fish on their wedding night.
4. Lilith's bargain with the angels has its ritual counterpart in an apotropaic rite once performed in many Jewish communities. To protect the newborn child against Lilith-and especially a male, until he could be permanently safeguarded by circumcision-a ring was drawn with natron, or charcoal, on the wall of the birthroom, and inside it were written the words: 'Adam and Eve. Out, Lilith!' Also the names Senoy, Sansenoy and Semangelof (meanings uncertain) were inscribed on the door. If Lilith nevertheless succeeded in approaching the child and fondling him, he would laugh in his sleep. To avert danger, it was held wise to strike the sleeping child's lips with one finger-whereupon Lilith would vanish.
5. 'Lilith' is usually derived from the Babylonian-Assyrian word lilitu, ,a female demon, or wind-spirit'-one of a triad mentioned in Babylonian spells. But she appears earlier as 'Lillake' on a 2000 B.G. Sumerian tablet from Ur containing the tale of Gilgamesh and the Willow Tree. There she is a demoness dwelling in the trunk of a willow-tree tended by the Goddess Inanna (Anath) on the banks of the Euphrates. Popular Hebrew etymology seems to have derived 'Lilith' from layil, 'night'; and she therefore often appears as a hairy night-monster, as she also does in Arabian folklore. Solomon suspected the Queen of Sheba of being Lilith, because she had hairy legs. His judgement on the two harlots is recorded in I Kings III. 16 ff. According to Isaiah xxxiv. I4-I5, Lilith dwells among the desolate ruins in the Edomite Desert where satyrs (se'ir), reems, pelicans, owls, jackals, ostriches, arrow-snakes and kites keep her company.
6. Lilith's children are called lilim. In the Targum Yerushalmi, the priestly blessing of Numbers vi. 26 becomes: 'The Lord bless thee in all thy doings, and preserve thee from the Lilim!' The fourth-century A.D. commentator Hieronymus identified Lilith with the Greek Lamia, a Libyan queen deserted by Zeus, whom his wife Hera robbed of her children. She took revenge by robbing other women of theirs.
7. The Lamiae, who seduced sleeping men, sucked their blood and ate their flesh, as Lilith and her fellow-demonesses did, were also known as Empusae, 'forcers-in'; or Mormolyceia, 'frightening wolves'; and described as 'Children of Hecate'. A Hellenistic relief shows a naked Lamia straddling a traveller asleep on his back. It is characteristic of civilizations where women are treated as chattels that they must adopt the recumbent posture during intercourse, which Lilith refused. That Greek witches who worshipped Hecate favoured the superior posture, we know from Apuleius; and it occurs in early Sumerian representations of the sexual act, though not in the Hittite. Malinowski writes that Melanesian girls ridicule what they call `the missionary position', which demands that they should lie passive and recumbent.
8. Naamah, 'pleasant', is explained as meaning that 'the demoness sang pleasant songs to idols'. Zmargad suggest smaragdos, the semi-precious aquamarine; and may therefore be her submarine dwelling. A demon named Smaragos occurs in the Homeric Epigrams.
9. Eve's creation by God from Adam's rib-a myth establishing male supremacy and disguising Eve's divinity-lacks parallels in Mediterranean or early Middle-Eastern myth. The story perhaps derives iconotropically from an ancient relief, or painting, which showed the naked Goddess Anath poised in the air, watching her lover Mot murder his twin Aliyan; Mot (mistaken by the mythographer for Yahweh) was driving a curved dagger under Aliyan's fifth rib, not removing a sixth one. The familiar story is helped by a hidden pun on tsela, the Hebrew for 'rib': Eve, though designed to be Adam's helpmeet, proved to be a tsela, a 'stumbling', or 'misfortune'. Eve's formation from Adam's tail is an even more damaging myth; perhaps suggested by the birth of a child with a vestigial tail instead of a coccyx-a not infrequent occurrence.
10. The story of Lilith's escape to the East and of Adam's subsequent marriage to Eve may, however, record an early historical incident: nomad herdsmen, admitted into Lilith's Canaanite queendom as guests (see 16. 1), suddenly seize power and, when the royal household thereupon flees, occupy a second queendom which owes allegiance to the Hittite Goddess Heba.
The meaning of 'Eve' is disputed. Hawwah is explained in Genesis III. 20 as 'mother of all living'; but this may well be a Hebraicized form of the divine name Heba, Hebat, Khebat or Khiba. This goddess, wife of the Hittite Storm-god, is shown riding a lion in a rock-sculpture at Hattusaswhich equates her with Anath-and appears as a form of Ishtar in Hurrian texts. She was worshipped at Jerusalem (see 27. 6). Her Greek name was Hebe, Heracles's goddess-wife.

Fic Rec Fridays - Week 2 - AUs
If you want to check out any of the other 3 fic recs you can find the master post here
Andreil
the sound by jemwrites on AO3 here (17k, 5 chapters)
The cottage looked unassuming and quaint, with a wooden ramp up to the front porch and rose bushes beneath the windows. A little sign was nailed above the door, reading The Foxhole. It seemed peaceful. Quiet
Its patrons, however, were neither of those things. Neil could already hear the raucous lot from where he was stood outside the door. Having never spoken to anyone outside of rare, whispered words to his uncle, or his cat, or his mother's grave, Neil knew this would be interesting.
A blond woman opened the door with a smile and glittering eyes. Neil's stomach rolled over itself. He hoped this wasn't a dumb decision.
TW: mentions of neil’s past and kevin’s. some minorly graphic descriptions of past abuse

Any fics where someone new (other than freshmen) meets the foxes and sees everyone (especially Andreil). I once read a fic with Aaron’s and Andrews dad meeting them for the first time and reacting to Andreil so something like that maybe?

Some Things You Just Can't Bury by permanentchaos for Dancyon [Rated T, 7492 Words, Complete, AFTG Exchange 2017]
There are memories. Things that flood his subconscious, overwhelming him until he can no longer work out the fact from fiction. Neil Josten was never just Neil Josten, he has been any number of people starting with Nathaniel Wesninski.
Nathaniel Wesninski is dead, or so he likes to think. There are no more lies, or truths for that matter, that connect him to this reality. Except one. Nathaniel Wesninski swore he would take it to his grave, and he passed that mantle on to Neil Josten. Secrets, lies...truths, they all have a cost. Some things you just can’t bury.
tw: blood, tw: implied/referenced abuse, tw: implied/referenced torture
Shrike by Leteel6 [Rated E, 13870 Words, Complete, 2021]
Time’s up, Junior.
Indeed. Indeed it was. For who though, Nathaniel was unsure. All he knew for certain that the blood on the wall was still wet, not yet tacky which meant that he wasn't too far behind his fathers trail. He would catch up to him, this he knew with single-minded determination and it would either end in his death or his fathers. Maybe both. One way or another though, he would finish this.
-
Or, Neil never ends up going back to Baltimore. Instead, his father comes to Palmetto.
tw: graphic depictions of violence, tw: gun violence, tw: knife violence, tw: blood/gore, tw: referenced animal torture, tw: dissociation, tw: murder, tw: canonical character death
You Are So Much More Than Your Father's Son by phan_taloon [Rated T, 3143 Words, Complete, 2021]
It wasn’t rare for Neil to end up at the library, taking up an entire table all by himself with piles of books and half-finished assignments. It turns out, he doesn’t do a very good job of finishing his homework at the dorm now that he lives with Andrew and Kevin. Between talking exy with Kevin, and hanging out with Andrew (more of the latter obviously), he had too many distractions. The best way to get shit done is to come to the library where the other Foxes rarely come (except for Aaron but they aren’t really friends yet, although not for lack of trying, they just didn’t click), so he’s safe from distractions.
But this time he can’t focus, not with the two guys a few tables to his right, talking softly amongst themselves and giggling and nervously looking Neil’s way.
---
In which Nathan Wesninski has fanboys and Neil Josten doesn't want to deal with them, but Aaron is there to save the day. I suck at summaries I'm sorry.
Title comes from Heirloom by Sleeping At Last.

Neil's Forgotten Marriage by Luludino [Rated T, 4184 Words, Complete, 2021]
Neil's day is interrupted when someone from his past shows up. Its not that he forgot about them.
He just forgot about the arrangement they had and how it might be important to inform them he is in fact not dead.
tw: violence
