Auto Magic

Hello again and welcome to another blog! This blog revolves around fancy sport and luxury cars and is called “Auto Magic.” It revolves around the evolution of my automotive photography. I originally didn’t consider photographing cars as part of my career but after the first few, I fell in love and decided it was an avenue I wanted to pursue. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and attempt to take car pictures so that I can add more to my portfolio. I also wanted to be more open to other photography careers for my future.I started at the Music City Dream Cars demo in Nashville, which they used on their Facebook a while back, and currently take car pictures on my own time to add to my portfolio. These photos include different types and styles of luxury cars that I have photographed over the last year in Nashville. So sit back and enjoy the luxurious ride through my car photography evolution.

Above we have a Lamborghini Huracan that I shot right outside of the Nissan Stadium at the Music City Dream Car demo. This was my first ever attempt on car photography, along with the next 2 pictures that you will see below. The only struggle I had with this picture was in post editing. I struggled big time trying to get the power lines, poles and lines on the road out of the picture, due to it being my first time using that specific tool. It took me a while to get the picture to look as real as possible for the client I was shooting for. I like to keep my pictures of cars as clean as possible so that those  out there who don’t get to get close and personal with fancy cars, can enjoy the detail and style of each car.

Above we have a BMW I8 which was also taken outside of Nissan Stadium at the Music City Dream Car demo. This picture was my favorite out of the Music City Luxury Car shoot that I did. It is simple and has parts of Nashville in the picture, which makes for an interesting background. There wasn’t a big Photoshop session with this picture. All I did in post editing was take out the power lines and poles, along with the lines from the parking lot and other distractions. The more simple the picture is, the more focus is on the car; that’s why I edit these pictures so diligently.  

In the picture above, we have a Nissan GTR. I did some major post editing on this picture. I decided to play around with some tools in Photoshop and I added 2 different backgrounds to make this picture look a little more interesting. The sky and the trees are not part of the original picture. I also took out the lines on the ground that were in the parking lot I was shooting in. The struggle with this picture was while post editing. I had a lot of trouble outlining the car to replace the background because most of the top of the car was a lighter color than the actual car. So it took me longer than normal to replace the background; not to mention this was my first ever attempt to replace the background. I did such extensive editing on this picture to not only show off my first attempt on replacing the background but to show that I am willing to do anything for my client.

Here we have a 2018 Ford Mustang. This picture was taken at the top level parking at the VA hospital here in Nashville, Tennessee. This shoot was slightly more complicated because not only did I have issues with security, but I was playing “hide-and-seek” with the sun the whole time. Out of all the pictures I took that day, this is the one that I am most proud of.  I replaced the sky in this picture because the sky wasn’t coming out as pretty as I would have liked during post editing. The struggle with this picture was mostly in the post editing because i had to outline the car and wall perfectly so that the sky would lay just right within the picture.

Here is a BMW Z4 taken at Nossi College of Art in the huge studio on campus. You might be wondering what is up with the purple streak across the top. Well, thats is called “light painting”. With the studio pitch black and I used different lights at specific times in the picture to light up the car as shown above. I had to move quickly because the camera was taking this picture the whole time I was running around with the lights individually. The struggle was, if I didn’t move quick enough, I would be caught in the picture in a ghost looking form. With this shoot, clients got an artistic twist with a picture of their car.

This picture above is of the new BMW I8 Hybrid this picture was taken in downtown Nashville by the Pedestrian Bridge. I came across it while working on another assignment downtown. I did some minor post editing on the brick wall and the ground around the car itself. The struggle I had with taking this picture was getting the right angle on the car so that editing wasn’t a long process. This picture wasn’t for an actual client, but it will be added to my portfolio.
