The three reunited later. They loved the silence and calm that the fight between Naruto and [Name] had given, but it was much better to see the two boys being friends. Sakura was the first to speak in the circle. "Kakashi sensei, Sasuke kun... I know we were finally at peace now that Naruto and [Name] stopped talking, but they need to be together again." Kakashi agreed, and soon began to think about what could happen between the two boys so that they would no longer talk. Meanwhile, the two brats returned home, and unfortunately for both of them... They lived in neighboring houses. The whole time, they didn't look at each other and had their arms crossed, trying to avoid simply looking at each other. "You know it's wrong. You live it, so you know better than I do that it's not fair." He needed to speak, he had to win this argument and convince Naruto. "You don't know anything about my life, I like my house and the way it is!"

[Name] wouldn't take that for an answer. Yes, the reason for the argument was more than a bad board game that [Name] liked and wanted to play all the time. The boy saw Naruto's situation, and knew that he deserved something much better than what he was living. But Naruto didn't see it negatively. He always had the bare minimum (and sometimes not even that), so for him, the bare minimum was enough.

They enter their respective houses, still fighting. Naruto throws himself on his bed and stays silent, while [Name] runs to his room and locks himself there, without greeting anyone in his house. The situation was serious.

It was a new day. Kakashi, Sasuke, and Sakura spent the entire night coming up with a plan to bring [Name] and Naruto together again. When Sakura had to leave because of her parents, Kakashi and Sasuke began to put the plan into action. It was simple, because the two boys didn't have enough brains to realize it was a trap. It was simple: lock the two boys in the same room. They wouldn't make enough effort to get out of there just so they wouldn't talk, Kakashi was sure.

The new day arrives, Sasuke went to call Naruto for Kakashi's 'new' training, while Sakura went to take [Name] to show her new move that she learned from Kakashi. The two fell, and when they arrived at the place (which was something like a small house with a lot of junk behind Kakashi's house), were locked together. Naruto and [Name] only heard the door lock close as they turned to face each other. They ran to open the door, but only heard a "I'll only open it when you're friends again."

For a long time, they remained silent. Deep down, they knew that they wanted to resolve things, because they had enough strength and power to break down that door or the fragile roof of that little house. But they didn't do that. Kakashi, Sakura and Sasuke couldn't hear anything coming from the room, and Sakura even considered calling a Hyuuga to use the byakugan and see what was going on in there. Time passed slowly for them.

Meanwhile, Naruto and [Name] finally talked. "...Naruto?" "What is it?!" The boy sighed, and seemed to want to give up on the conversation for a few seconds, but soon continued. "Sorry."

Naruto looked at him for the first time, he seemed surprised. It was the first time [Name] had apologized for something. Normally neither of them did, and they just went back to being friends normally. "You're right, I shouldn't interfere in your life. It's just that I can't find it normal that you have to eat only noodles and milk that are almost always expired. That's not fair, you shouldn't live like this." And for a few seconds, Naruto even looked like he wanted to cry. He missed his best friend. He wastes no time in throwing himself at [Name], nearly making him fall. "... I'm sorry too, okay? You only want the best for me and I treated you with so much contempt..." There, it didn't even sound like Naruto speaking. That came from his soul.

They stay in each other's arms for a while. They were tired of so much arguing and being apart, this distance wasn't good for them. It's not like Naruto will understand what [Name] is thinking right away, and it will take him a while to get used to the idea that he needs to cry out for a better life. He just needs his friend for that. His best friend.

Kakashi didn't even listen to people's complaints, because in a way, everyone was happy that the two were back together. He remembers when he opened that door because his curiosity piqued him, and saw the two hugging. Of course, they let go of the hug immediately and Naruto almost fell to the floor in embarrassment. At least it's a happy memory for the two of them, without any fighting. Sakura looked irritated with the two, as usual. But Kakashi knew the girl, and knew that she was very happy with the two of them too. Sasuke seemed neutral, but if you have good eyes, you will see a smile.

The forest was unnervingly quiet, save for the occasional rustle of leaves and the distant calls of unseen creatures. Your team was on high alert, having already encountered several hostile teams. The tension in the air was thick, and even Naruto, usually the loudest among you, had fallen silent.

“Stay sharp,” Kakashi’s voice echoed in your memory before entering the Forest of Death. The four of you moved cautiously, every sense heightened.

As you turned a corner, the eerie stillness broke. Three figures emerged from the shadows—Gaara of the Sand and his siblings, Kankuro and Temari. Their presence was suffocating, the air thickening with unseen pressure.

“Sand shinobi,” Sasuke muttered, his Sharingan flickering to life.

Gaara’s gaze locked onto you the moment you stepped into the clearing. Unlike his usual piercing, almost predatory stare, there was something different. His teal eyes lingered on you, unreadable yet intent.

Naruto took a step forward, puffing up his chest. “Hey, we’re not looking for trouble, but if you start something, we’ll finish it!”

Temari snorted. “Bold words for someone like you.”

“Enough.” His voice was sharp, almost pained. “You don’t understand. I…” He trailed off, his fists clenching. The sand around him stirred violently, as if reflecting his inner turmoil.

“What I understand is that you’re underestimating me!” you shouted, rushing forward. Your kunai flashed in the sunlight as you lunged at him, aiming for a weak spot in his defense.

The sand reacted instantly, rising to block your attack. It shoved you back with surprising gentleness, almost as if Gaara were still holding back. Your feet skidded across the dirt, but you didn’t stop. You charged again, determination burning in your chest.

“Stop holding back!” you yelled, weaving through the sand and landing a glancing blow on his arm. It wasn’t much, but it was enough to make him flinch. “I can take it, Gaara!”

His teal eyes darkened, his jaw tightening. “You don’t know what you’re asking.”

“I’m asking you to take me seriously!” you snapped. “If you don’t, I’ll—”

“Enough!” Gaara’s voice was sharp, and the sand around him surged forward, faster and more aggressive than before. It wrapped around your wrist, yanking you back and slamming you into the ground. Pain shot through your body, but you gritted your teeth, refusing to give up.

You struggled to your feet, blood dripping from a cut on your cheek. “That’s more like it,” you said through a pained grin.

Gaara nodded. “I will.”

There was an awkward pause before Gaara glanced down at the ground, as if considering something. Then, so quietly you almost didn’t hear him, he added, “You’re… important to me.”

You felt your breath getting caught, and your eyes snapped back to Gaara, but before you could say anything, Gaara turned and started walking away, his siblings falling into step beside him.

Temari glanced at you with a knowing smirk. “Huh. That’s new,” she muttered under her breath.

Kankurō groaned, throwing his hands up. “Am I the only one who doesn’t get what’s going on here?”

As the Sand siblings disappeared down the street, you stood frozen in place, your own heart pounding in your chest. Naruto stomped over, his hands on his hips. “What did he say to you? Do I need to kick his butt?”

Yu shook your head, a little smile tugging at the corners of your lips. “No, Naruto. It’s fine.” you turnedback to the team, shoving your hands in your pockets. “Let’s just go get some ramen.”

Sakura and Sasuke exchanged glances but didn’t say anything. Naruto, meanwhile, continued grumbling under his breath about “weird sand guys,” but you barely heard him. Your own thoughts were elsewhere, stuck on Gaara’s parting words.

everyone turns around and you pull a ‘pretend-like-you-don’t-know-him’

When you get home that’s the fourtj time you’ve had to discuss the ‘pretend-like-you-dont-know-him’

If someone deadnames or misgenders you, he’ll correct them

If they keep doing it even accidentally, he’ll have a polite, definitely non threatening conversation alone with them

If he finds out it’s intentional, well uh…

“What do you mean, ‘I’m the prime suspect’?? I didn’t even know they went missing- …being the last person to leave with them and returning without them doesn’t mean anything-!”

If you were feminine before coming out, whether a while ago or shortly before, he literally does not GAF

If you’re still kinda feminine (any ftm femboys here?) it increases his accidental deadnaming and stuff (but only if you came out later after meeting him)

If you completely start using your name and pronouns after meeting and knowing him, he’ll definitely be more sensitive about it. Still Sasuke tho, don’t push your luck.

He does really try to save you from embarrassment though, he’s only deadnamed or misgendered you in a male store for example once

If someone keeps doing it, she literally shouts the correction out of absolutely nowhere to cut them off

If she finds out it’s intentional, she literally interrupts them by SHRIEKING your name and pronouns Im serioud when I say she will SCREAM it from the ROOFTOPS she loves you

I dunno if its platonic love or not so dont get your hopes up but she definitely adores you

If you were feminine before coming out, whether a while ago or shortly before, Sakura doesn’t blink an eye at it. She knows realization like this can happen in a moments notice

She will take ALL the clothes, nail polish, makeup, etc that you no longer want (if you’d like of course heheh)

They were just the butt of the jokes back in his day

Or the gossip whenever an actual trans person literally did nothing more than breathed

But yeah he’s like ‘that’s so cool’

He’s way more ecstatic and happy for you on the inside like in there he’s actually squealing

Kakashi reveals that he’s actually questioned his gender identity before, but it kinda got shoved out of his mind by his dad once (same with sexuality but he’s totally pansexual or something and he knows it—he doesnt care about gender he just likes people)

You guys discuss that stuff sometimes when he asks if its normal to question it, or his sexuality, or when he finally figures out the label for it is pan (or whatever) and then you guys just discuss your queer identities

One day he was just like “hey is it normal to wonder if I’m a boy? I know you’re a boy who was once a girl, or at least seen as one, but I…” and yeah

If you’re (around) his age, and he finds out you’re trans, he feels like he’s about to cry

Kakashi is SO HAPPY, he didn’t know trans people…would even be able to live as long as you…

He hugs you so tight bro you’re not getting out of that for a while

If you’re literally his age like ive said before and ur not a minor you may or may not be his pan/homosexual awakening…

You guys are so sweet as a couple just the absolute cutest

If you’re a kid he’s training Kakashi will make sure you’re extra well protected due to the sad fact that transphobia and just plain queerphobia is still everywhere even if it’s a small amount

Regardless of age again, he always uses the right name, as he says its easy cos Y/N suits you better and generally uses the right pronouns

He’s used the wrong pronouns just a few times

If someone misgenders or deadnames you, Kakashi patiently corrects them

If they keep doing it, he gets a bit annoyed but makes you a pronouns pin and/or name tag and reminds them each time, his reminder dripping with more venom each time

If he finds out it’s intentional, Kakashi literally will get them in trouble, the excuse being they were harassing and bullying you, even so much as saying they were threatening your existence (which isnt a complete lie)

He cares so much about you dare I say loves you so much, whether it be in a familial way if youre a kid or adult, or a romantic way if youre an adult 

If you were feminine before coming out, he sometimes gets confused but usually does great actually with few mistakes

If youre still feminine he sometimes gets confused on accident but it doesnt take him long to get good

Sasori: Mm. I’ll admit that I had my misgivings when Pein-sama voiced his desire that we all live together in a permanent residence, but, overall I believe it was a good choice. Apparently having a “home” to come back to and the promise of consistent meals has done everyone some good, mentally and physically. *points* Look at how much healthier those three look, for example. I can no longer count each of their ribs through their clothes.

Zetsu: I agree. Deidara especially. He seems so much more comfortable in his own skin, especially after you did that procedure for him.

*the two look down at Deidara, where the twin scars on his chest show as he splashes in the water*

Sasori: It was the least I could do. I know what it is, to feel as though you’re not in the right body. It’s why I turned myself into a puppet, after all. Helping him to look more the way he wanted to look … a small thing, compared to that smile he always has now.

Zetsu: He didn’t wish to cut his hair though?

Sasori: No; he adores his long hair. Spends forever taking care of it every night.

Zetsu: Mm. And the others have been supportive?

Sasori: Yes. Well, Hidan was his usual crude and tactless self at first. Told quite a few hurtful jokes. But I took him aside and helped him see the error of his ways.

Zetsu: Oh? How so?

Sasori: I simply told him that if the disrespect continued, I would wait until he fell asleep and give him a little “elective surgery” as well. In the end he decided he would like his penis to remain where it is, and NOT sewn onto his face.

This is a pt.2 to this.

The Sand siblings had lingered in the Leaf Village a little longer than expected after the Chūnin Exams, assisting with diplomatic discussions and finalizing alliances. Gaara hadn’t minded—especially since it meant he might have a chance to see Y/N again. The apology had gone better than he expected, and while Y/N’s words still replayed in his mind (Just think before you speak next time), Gaara couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more he wanted to say.

That’s how he found himself standing outside the training grounds where Y/N was sparring with Naruto. Temari and Kankurō had told him to “stop moping and do something,” so here he was, awkwardly watching from a distance as Y/N dodged one of Naruto’s clumsy attacks.

“You’re staring again,” Temari muttered from behind him, startling him slightly. She smirked, crossing her arms. “Just go talk to him already. You look ridiculous.”

Gaara frowned but didn’t respond. Instead, he took a deep breath and stepped forward, his presence immediately noticed by Naruto, who dropped his fighting stance and pointed dramatically.

“Hey! What are you doing here?” Naruto shouted, his voice echoing across the training grounds. He moved to block you from hom again, arms stretched out protectively. “Didn’t we already settle this?”

You turned around, confused at first, but when you saw Gaara, your expression softened. “Calm down, I don't think he’s here to fight.”

Naruto narrowed his eyes. “You don’t know that! He could—”

“Naruto,” you cut him off with a sigh. “Go practice your Rasengan or something.”

Naruto grumbled but eventually walked off, muttering something about “sand freaks” and “bad vibes.” You turned back to Gaara, raising an eyebrow. “Is there anything i could help you with?”

Gaara shifted awkwardly, his hands tucked into his pockets. He didn’t know why this was so hard. He had faced enemies in life-or-death battles without flinching, but standing here in front of you, he felt somehow… vulnerable.

“I wanted to ask you something,” Gaara said finally, his voice quieter than usual.

You tilted your head in confussion. “Okay. What is it?”

Gaara hesitated for a moment, then spoke quickly, like he was afraid he’d lose his nerve. “Would you want to spend some time with me? Alone. Outside the training grounds.”

You blinked, completely caught off guard. “Are you… asking me on a date?”

Gaara felt heat creep up his neck, but he forced himself to nod. “Yes.”

There was a beat of silence before your lips twitched into a small smile. “You’re… surprisingly straightforward, huh?”

“It seemed like the most efficient way to ask,” Gaara replied honestly, though there was a faint hint of nervousness in his tone. “If you’re not interested, I’ll—”

“Wait, I didn’t say no,” You interrupted, raising your hands. “You just caught me off guard, that’s all.”

Gaara stared at you, hope flickering in his eyes. “Then…?”

You crossed your arms, pretending to think it over and over. “Hmm… Well, I guess you did apologize. And you’ve been less scary lately. So yeah, sure. Why not?”

Gaara blinked. “You’re agreeing?”

You chuckled. “Yeah, I’m agreeing. But I’m picking where we go. You don’t seem like the type who knows what a fun date looks like.”

Gaara frowned slightly, but he nodded. “That’s acceptable.”

Your smile widened, and he clapped Gaara on the shoulder. “Alright, it’s a deal then. Tomorrow afternoon?”

“Tomorrow,” Gaara agreed, his voice firm despite the slight nervousness he felt.

As you walked back to rejoin Naruto, Gaara turned on his heel and started walking back toward his siblings. He didn’t need to look to know that Temari and Kankurō were grinning like idiots from their hiding spot nearby.

“Well, I’ll be damned,” Kankurō said as Gaara approached. “You actually did it.”

Temari smirked. “Looks like our little brother is growing up.”

Gaara ignored them, but he couldn’t stop the faint smile that tugged at the corners of his lips. Tomorrow couldn’t come soon enough.

The next afternoon, Gaara stood at the entrance to a quiet park in the Leaf Village, his heart racing in a way it never had before. He had fought in life-or-death battles, faced unimaginable threats, and survived, but waiting for Y/N to arrive had him on edge. He adjusted the strap of his gourd on his back for the tenth time, though he had already decided he wouldn’t need it today.

When you finally appeared, wearing a simple but relaxed outfit, Gaara felt his chest tighten. You looked casual and confident, the same as ever, though Gaara thought there was something particularly captivating about the way your smile lit up his face as he approached.

“Yo,” You greeted, waving a hand. “Hope I didn’t keep you waiting too long.”

“You’re on time,” Gaara said, his voice calm but softer than usual.

“Good,” you replied, grinning. “I’ve got the whole day planned out. I figured we’d start with some snacks, then check out the market, and maybe end with watching the sunset. Sound good?”

Gaara nodded. “That sounds… nice.”

“Alright then, let’s go.”

The first stop was a small street vendor selling dango. You ordered two sticks and handed one to Gaara, who stared at it for a moment before cautiously taking a bite.

“It’s sweet,” Gaara said after a moment, tilting his head.

“Yeah, it’s one of my favorites,” you said, watching him closely. “Not bad, right?”

Gaara nodded. “It’s… pleasant.”

You laughed. “I’ll take that as a win. Come on, let’s keep going.”

Both of you wandered through the market next, the bustling atmosphere a stark contrast to Gaara’s usual environment. For Gaara you seemed to know everyone, greeting vendors and cracking jokes as they passed. Gaara stayed quiet, but he found himself watching you closely, drawn to the way you carried yourself with such ease.

At one point, you stopped at a stall selling small trinkets and accessories. You picked up a simple bracelet made of polished wood beads.

“This looks cool,” you said, slipping it on your wrist. You glanced back at Gaara. “What do you think?”

Gaara stared at the bracelet for a moment before reaching into his pocket. “I’ll buy it for you.”

You blinked, surprised. “Wait, what? You don’t have to—”

“I want to,” Gaara interrupted, his tone leaving no room for argument. He handed the vendor the payment and turned back to you. “It suits you.”

Your felt your cheeks getting heated slightly, but you smiled. “Thanks, Gaara.”

By the time the sun began to set, both of you had made your way to a quiet hill overlooking the village. The sky was painted in hues of orange and pink, the perfect backdrop for the end of your day.

You flopped onto the grass, leaning back on your hands as Gaara looked out at the view. “This was a good idea,” he said, glancing at you. “I’m glad we did this.”

Gaara sat beside you, his hands resting on his knees. “So am I.” you answered back, a soft smile plastered in your face.

You sat in comfortable silence for a while, the sounds of the village fading into the background.

You laughed, shaking your head. “No, you were great. A little quiet, but that’s just you. It was… nice. Really nice.”

Gaara looked down at his hands, his expression thoughtful. “I didn’t know what to expect either. But I enjoyed spending time with you.”

You smiled, leaning back to look up at the sky. “We should do this again sometime.”

Gaara’s heart skipped a beat. “I would like that.”

As the last rays of sunlight disappeared, you glanced at Gaara, your smile soft. “Thanks for today, Gaara. It meant a lot.”

Gaara turned to meet your gaze, his teal eyes sincere. “Thank you… for giving me the chance.”

You chuckled, leaning back again. “You’re not so scary once people get to know you, huh?”

Gaara didn’t respond, but for the first time in a long while, he felt at peace.
