It makes me sad when I look at Ace Attorney fandom stuff from 10-15 years ago and see how much more comparatively chill and accepting they were of different ships from the most popular ones back then. It wasn’t perfect or free of discourse, obviously, but at least fans could mostly get away with shipping that stuff without getting called horrible people, unlike today where the Ace Attorney fandom is determined to bully anyone who dare ship the Unacceptable Stuff™️ out of the fandom (ESPECIALLY on aatwt my goodness). I know this isn’t just me because I’ve seen even certain older fans note this and say stuff like “Wow I’ve been in the Ace Attorney fandom for years and back then there used to be so many Narumayos and ppl who shipped so-and-so in het I’m so glad these are no longer acceptable we’ve come so far” WRONG. The fandom has turned into a hivemind who think it’s acceptable to unperson others over ships and will sooner sympathize with one who harasses another over a Bad Ship than the one getting harassed because how dare they ship outside the sacred stuff. You really think it’s a good thing the AA fandom environment has gotten tyrannical about what you’re allowed to ship? Old Ace Attorney Shipping Fandom was FAR from perfect, but if your reasons for why it was bad or worse than now are “ships I dislike were allowed to exist” hoooooo boy.

steven universe: another pretty mixed bag. honestly the worst part of this fandom is its haters bc like. woah the children's show about peace and love ended with peace and love instead of violently beating up white diamond. this is crazy guys. but lowkey from what i've seen it isn't too bad. it's the lesbian rock show what more does one need

sonic: inside of you there are two wolves. one of them is a sonadow shipper. the other is a sonamy shipper. and every day they are beating each other up to assert dominance while the secret third wolf in the corner is drawing little ocs to post on deviant art

a hat in time: WHY ARE YALL SO DEPRESSED???? like this is the funny little platformer game that barley has any story and everything is so SAD. ITS THE SELF PROCLAIMED CUTE AS HECK PLATFORMER. i once read a series of fics where the conductor is suicidal and tries to kill himself. and i've seen some of the most soul crushing fanart of the snatcher. mlp: honestly this fandom got a crazy glow up. i'm pretty sure it's bc the audience the show was MADE FOR when it was produced has grown up and still loves the show and not because they think the ponies are hot. bronies made it very hard to be into the show when you were a young girl who liked ponies and friendship. i would know bc i saw cupcakes when i was 8 and cried for 2 hours. but the show is goated and the fandom now is honestly pretty good

Yesterday I felt like drawing a lot, so after finishing my Kay Faraday fanart my brain thought about how funny it would be if Kay and Miles had both been trusted to baby sit Trucy, leading to me drawing a couple of child Trucy head canons.

The first hc is if course both Kay and Miles baby sitting Trucy together, I like to think Phoenix offered Miles to baby sit her (I know in canon Phoenix probably cut contact with all his friends when he lost his badge but, I love the idea of his friends taking turns watching Trucy too much to not have hc about it) and Kay insisted on joining and being a baby sitter assistant. Leading to much chaos that stressed Miles out but at least Trucy had fun lol.

I also gave Kay a braid cuz I realised I have a habit of giving AA girls shorter hair in my hc for their older designs, so I've decided to hc Kay's hair staying long but she wearing it as a braid so it doesn't get in her way as easily as a ponytail.

Than the second hc is Trucy doing a card trick with Pearl. I like to think Pearl see's Trucy's magic tricks as more impressive than spirit channelling because she's grown up around spirit channelling, so it's normal thing for her unlike magic tricks. I made the card ace of hearts because, as a kid Pearl is definitely the number one NaruMayo shipper, so she seems to like romance imo. As for why it's the ace of hearts well that's cuz... it was the easiest heart card to draw and I felt a little lazy XD

Ace Attorney is a real progressive franchise considering the time it was created in, I mean like.. - Platonic relationships between a guy character and a girl character, in any other media it would've been a no-brainer to have two major characters of the opposite sex end up together and smooch, It's a byproduct of heteronormativity (and also amatonormativity). This has happened so much that even a movie scene of two characters of the opposite sex looking at eachother has a mainstream audience wondering "Are they gonna get together?". Even speaking as a Narumayo shipper I can set aside my ship-tinted glasses and see both Maya and Phoenix's relationship through a platonic lens and it's amazing. There's been multiple instances of Maya being in grave danger and Phoenix risking it all probably in the verge of crying himself too just to get her out of there and not once did the writers attempt to suggest anything between them two. Even so, Ace Attorney is the type of game to take a back seat on romance as that's not really the point of the story. So for us people playing the games, pretty much every interaction between the major characters of the game are subtle and up to interpretation (Yes, even the "Unnecessary feelings" line.). - Excellent female characters, I know that "Good Female characters" is an incredibly low bar because "Good characters" are like the bare minimum things you're supposed to have in a Good story but it was 2001 so 🤷‍♂️ I've seen this take before but Ace Attorney is a story about it's female cast, they're filled with so much richness and depth it's insane (Franziska is SO UNDERRATED in the other half of the fandom). Mia also being a Mentor for Phoenix is also great, how often do you get to see instances in stories where male characters would learn under female characters and learn under them? And look up to them? I'm pretty sure there's more points to bring up but i'm probably not qualified to mention it nor even detail it. Also Godot isn't sexist With that said, Shu Takumi is truely an enigma because how the hell did he make a game that gets so much stuff right and then at the same time have some handful of wrong stuff (the first thing i could think of is Acro from Turnabout Big top)
