I hope this isn't too weird, but I wanted to announce that I just posted the final chapter of my multi-chapter Narry fic on Ao3. i'm rereading all the time before i knew you because i'm planning to work on the final chapter and i need to get myself back in it and just all around refresh my memory. and i thought i'd share some little fun facts!

elora is a shameless self-insert. i am a pastry chef and at one point dreamed of opening my own bakery/cafe. i'd even written up a business plan. the name of said bakery/cafe? black treacle. elora is the name i'd planned to give my first daughter, should i have had a daughter, back when i still thought i wanted to have children.

harry's (and eventually niall's) cat butterscotch was a copy-and-paste of my cat. butterscotch sadly passed this past october but she was a beautiful tortoiseshell calico.

elora's sister abby is just my sister. my sister abby is not a baker so that's been tweaked. their cousins kate and mack are my real-life cousins kate and mackenzie. i mention their grandmother patty who acts as a surrogate grandmother to "the lads." my grandma's name is pat and will be anyone's grandma.

although a full layout of harry and niall's apartment is never given in complete detail, i based it entirely on the apartment where my sister lived for a couple years before she and her now-husband moved in together.

i have so many others but i don't want this post to be wicked long. if anyone out there is interested in hearing more, send me a message! it's kind of a fun way to get me back into this!

(i've decided to cut back on my phone screen time and have set limits. since doing that, i've found i have a lot more free time. i'm on my usual two month winter break from work and even with reading two 400 page books a week, planning my dessert menus for the upcoming year, reading multiple cookbooks, and doing a deep clean on my apartment, i still find myself with lots of free time. that says a lot about how much time i waste on my phone... it has also inspired me to start writing this last chapter. i'm a little scared if i'm being 100% honest.)

Harry’s pov

He smirked while leading Eunice towards the middle of the hall. He had obviously noticed how nervous the girl was and couldn’t help but find it cute. He knew that he had an affect on women but he had never experienced something like this.

He only had to smile once and Eunice couldn’t build up one sentence. Obviously he wasn’t unaffected either. The girl was incredibly beautiful with her full lips and long hair, which was blond with a slight red tinge. He could only imagine how stunning her long legs must look like and what it must feel like to kiss her skin.

They were in the middle of the hall now and they tangled their hands, while he put his hand on her waist. They started to move to the music and Harry smiled at her. Eunice blushed and slightly looked down.

Harry laughed inside when he noticed it. It was similar to how he had saw her earlier staring at him and how she had quickly looked away when he looked back. ‚Cute.‘, he thought. Harry could sense that she was still very nervous so he slightly caressed her waist with his thumb. The touch made Eunice immediately look up to him and he asked: „Are you alright?“

The girl quickly nodded with wide eyes and Harry nodded. They danced for a while and then after the ballad was over, Harry bowed in front of her and kissed the back of her hand once again. „Thank you very much, Lady Eunice. I hope to see you again later.“ Then he turned around and walked away. Eunice’s pov

Eunice stood there in the middle of the hall and couldn’t move. She couldn’t understand her feeling this moment, it was something she had never felt before.

Then she finally realized that she was still standing there, alone and probably with a stunned look on her face and turned around to walk to the door that led her to a terrace. She greedily breathed in the air and felt her pulse finally calm down.

She walked in small circles and tried to control her breathing. When she felt like she was calm again to some extent, Eunice entered the building again and searched for members of her family. She needed some distraction now. It was two hours later now and the feast now took place in the park nearby. It was very spacious with a lot of trees and bushes.

People ate at long tables and laughed together under the summer sky. There was another dance floor in the middle and an orchestra that played beautiful tunes. Those, who were already finished with eating sat at the tables talking to people, danced or stood under the trees.

Eunice sat with her family and laughed loudly about their jokes. It was a relaxed atmosphere. When they were all finished with their meals, her siblings and cousins got up and walked around and played a bit aside of the feast.

„Can we play ‚I spy with my little eye‘?“, she heard Clara say loudly and the others approved. In the meantime Eunice had very good conversations with her relatives and friends of the family when she suddenly saw in the corner of her eye her brother Stanley falling to the ground and starting crying. He had fallen over a root and held his ankle. „Owww.“, he cried and Eunice, who felt responsible ran over to him.

„Stanley. Oh no, no, no. Let me see.“ But the boy was too hysteric and Eunice decided to help him get to their parents. As she was the oldest, she helped him get up and supported him while he limped on one foot. „Is it very bad, Eunice?“, her sister asked and Eunice petted her hair.

„He is going to be okay. You can continue playing, I’ll bring him to mother and father.“ She walked to the table where her parents sat and they took him in their arms. Knowing, that he was in good hands, she walked away and headed to her table again when suddenly she saw Sir Styles in her field of vision.

Her heart started beating faster again and her eyes widened. He seemed to just notice her as well. „Oh, hello again, Lady Eunice.“ „Good evening, Sir.“, she said quietly and Harry noticed how she didn’t look at him again. „I was wondering, if you wanted to walk with me for a bit.“, Harry said and Eunice finally looked at him.

„Oh. Yes, of course. With delight.“, she stuttered and took his arms that he had offered her. They started walking away from the feast and the music got more quiet. „What a beautiful night.“, Harry said and looked up to the sky.

„Yes, it is. I like summer nights, when it is not that hot anymore but you can still smell and feel the summer heat.“, Eunice smiled and asked herself if what she had just said was complete nonsense.

„Yes, it is in the air.“, Harry answered. „What is your favourite time of year, Milady?“ „I think spring or late summer. I love what the world looks like when the first flowers start to bloom. And the smell.“, she smiled. Harry chuckled quietly and Eunice felt something in her belly at the sound that she had never felt before.

„So the scent of things is the most important for you. The smell of summer air, fresh flowers.“ Eunice smiled as well and looked to the left of her.

„What is this?“, she asked suprised. „That’s a pavilion. It is a cottage of a family in London.“ „How come I have never seen this?“, Eunice asked in disbelief. „I don’t know. Maybe you never came this far in the park.“

„Maybe.“, mumbled. „Do you want to see it from inside?“, Harry suddenly and Eunice looked at him. „W – why, I mean, do you, why do you have the key?“, she stuttered and was so angry at herself that she still was so nervous around him.

„Well, the cottage belongs to my family.“, Harry laughed and Eunice looked at him with widened eyes. „What?“ „Yes, it is my family’s. We don’t go that often anymore but I still have the key, so if you want…“ „Y – yes, I mean I think I would like to.“, Eunice nervously chuckled and they made their way over to the beautiful old Pavilion.

“Enclosures are for land animals, babe,” Harry swatted his arm lightly, turning to kiss Niall softly, “And while I appreciate the sentiment, that tank’s mostly great whites. And stingrays. Not to mention all the other smaller sharks. I need you to have all your limbs if we’re gonna go diving in Australia,” He pecked Niall again before rushing off towards the tunnel, calling back over his shoulder, “Now come on, slowpoke. We’ve got, like, three more classes to go through,”

hello, my name is jay, though most folks call me soup. i'd like to petition a date with the narrator. big fan of his game! i used to write headcanons for him a lot, and there's still a part of my heart that flutters when i see him on my dash. he and i share a love of stories in common. i'm an english major aspiring to be a writer. i feel like he and i would have a lot to talk about, and i do admire his voice quite a bit. my favorite quality of his is his sense of showmanship. he put a lot of work into his game, and it shows.

to anyone who has ever read all the time before i knew you, i thought i would let you know that the real-life butterscotch, who was not so much the inspiration but actually a copy-and-paste for harry’s (and eventually niall’s) kitty, passed away in october. she was my kitty for over 15 years, from the time she was born until i found her peacefully asleep in my home. she still is my kitty and i’m happy that i made the decision to immortalise her in that fic; i almost named her olivia but called her butterscotch because i knew it would be easier to write the scenes where harry talks to her if she were my kitty.

(i have said this a million and one times but i am planning to finish that fic over my winter break this coming jan/feb. we’ll see what happens but butterscotch has inspired me to see her through to the end.)
