Also just a brief list of my 'Flowey has some very blatant favoritism when it comes to his parents' agenda--

-Apparently just hangs around in the Ruins, in a place Toriel comes by every day, even before he figures out that Chara's buried there. (He seems to realize where Toriel buried Chara during his No Mercy monologue. Maybe he's there because that's where Chara first fell down, but he does NOT believe Chara is in the Ruins when Frisk first falls, nor does he believe Frisk is Chara until Frisk is already about to leave the Ruins.)

-While hanging around in the Ruins, apparently brought Toriel into bed and left a glass of water for her. Was so touched by her still recognizing him that it's implied he let the timeline run much longer than usual, allowing Frisk to fall down.

-Harshly judges you regardless of whether you kill or spare Toriel. Will often deal the final blow on Asgore, and then talks more about whether or not you've 'learned' the world is kill or be killed.

-Mocks you with an Echo Flower if you kill Toriel.

-Teenaged form bears a stronger resemblance to Toriel.

-Uses a lot of specific phrases she does. 'Prove to me you are strong enough to survive.' 'Someone has to take care of the flowers.' Etc.

-This bit from his No Mercy monologue:

He doesn't ever refer to Asgore as his father. Just as 'the king', 'that stupid king', 'the old fool'. And he calls that whole period of time spent with his father 'vain'. Toriel, though, he purposefully sought out, wholeheartedly believing she, specifically, could help him. And when he says she failed, he doesn't insult her, he doesn't imply her failure was inevitable and her (or Flowey's) efforts were futile, even now, it's just that...she failed.

i really admire people who have a confident enough command of language to use brevity to really strong effect when writing. my overly-wordy ass can never shut the hell up and sometimes it’s to my writing’s detriment. staring through the window at writers who understand that brevity is the soul of wit and wishing i could be like them fr.

yeah, i wonder why someone would want to leave a broader community if these were the only people you had to interact with. nearly a fucking decade of morons more willing to accept transphobic strawmen that misunderstands basic aspects of the plot than accept a character in a video game that only goes by they/them, and where no other queer character is "properly labeled" as such, is nonbinary.

Rambles:

It works mostly for the headcanon(arguably canon fact but alas) that Chara is the one character who holds you, the player, accountable for the consequences of your actions. With this song mainly being about calling about someone who’s done bad things and is pretending to be the “self-proclaimed angel”, I think these fit in particular:

A monster who fucks up people’s lives when they get bored, see?”

Starts with realising the damage that you’ve done”

-In this case in particular, realising could have the addition meaning of like, finishing what you started, which Chara also does in game

Also!! It kind of works in making Flowey/Asriel a parallel to the player, especially with the lines:

“Yeah, you shoulda thought twice

Before every promise became a lie!”

-ie him promising that they will be best friends forever(if you think that they’d feel betrayed at him instead calling Frisk the friend they always wanted), or just that he would help them carry out the plan, they would’ve felt betrayed that they sacrificed their life for nothing

“It’s funny what an angel you think you’ve been”

- ie Asriel literally using the human souls to become angel-like in visage but also literally as per the prophecy. I think they’d think it ironic considering the things he did as flowey, having already fulfilled the prophecy many times in the darker context. Also Chara calling tragic things “funny”/laughing at tragedy tracks with their character too.

ik last post said the chara spirit comment as a joke but have i ever gone into my theory/headcanon that chara isn't actually present in the photoshop flowey fight because they're connected to the player's save file and that's gone when flowey takes over

Here me out, since Flowey/Asriel’s favorite character is canonically Papyrus… Chara’s favorite is Sans.

A lot of people think that Asgore named the songs, at least some of them, because some of the song titles are so simple. But I think Chara actually named them.

I mean, "Can You Really Call This a Hotel, I Didn't Get a Receive a Mint on My Pillow or Anything" doesn't sound like something Asgore would say, but I can imagine Chara saying it. (And since the hotel in question is MTT Resort, I doubt the theory that the characters named their own songs holds true here.)

I initially thought that Flowey may have named the songs, since he was the one who reset so many times before us. But the problem with that theory was "His Theme." Considering that Flowey named his SAVE file "My World," it didn't make sense that he wouldn't call his own theme song "My Theme." It had to be Chara that named them.
