As a little gift for the season, have a Maglor. I shared it on the SWG discord server before, but explicitly wanted to keep from posting it on tumblr until today. All my thanks go to the wonderful @naomilibicki gifted me a commission of my favourite Silm blorbo by @szaszkeh, who turned my ideas into this gorgeous, breathtaking piece of Maglor wandering along the shore, which hits me in the feels where it hurts the most every damn time I look at it. @szaszkeh, aside from being a fantastic artist, was great to work with, should you wish to consider a commission of your own. ♥♥♥

I’ve had the shirts for over a week, they’re all packaged and ready to be mailed, and I WAS going to drop them off at the post office this afternoon…

But it’s pounding rain and there’s 2 separate cats sitting on me, so. I do not think that is going to happen today after all. I shall revise my plan to hit up the local UPS instead, tomorrow (when it should be raining less.)

For the fic title ask game: Braving Frost Enough to Bloom

Oh, that is absolutely the official historical writ to legitimize the rule of the House of Fingolfin after Maedhros' abdication, what with the motifs of them crossing Helcaraxë and flowers springing under their feet as they march into Mithrim at the first sunrise.

The Fëanorians had it relatively easy, they crossed the sea on the swanships, while crossing the Helcaraxë was such a damnably hard and traumatic experience that it made the survivors wise enough to act kindly, seek alliances and keep the need for collective action in mind in order to win the war against Morgoth and make Beleriand bloom. And to be fair, it worked for over 400 years... and then there's that line in one of the HoMes about Fingon's death mentioning that "the flower of the Eldar withered" in the Nirnaeth, so that ties the end of their reign* back in with the flower motif.

*depending on whom you ask and which version you take as canon, because well, Gil-galad is not really one of the more mythical First-Age kings anymore even if you count him as a Fingolfinian.

This is a little late, but I did a doodle for my friend @naomilibicki of her characters Bet and Aviva! Aviva is explaining about the tradition of eating apples with honey for Rosh Hashana. Bet is interested, and also very excited to be eating something that isn’t a cup of noodles. L’Shana Tova! 

(Also: Bet and Aviva are from this really great novella called In Sunlight and in Shadow which I recommend to anyone who wants to read about a lady knight and a sorceress being girlfriends. So, like, everyone.)

But I was once again impressed by how savvy a reader (or, well, media consumer) you are, because you were clearly picking up on something, you were just interpreting it incorrectly.
