Aight fellas finally saw Dragons Rising
Few notes: WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED THERE XDDDDD
I’m excited to see more episodes mostly because I NEED ANSWERS
Anyway 9/10 season, very entertaining and deffo one of the best Ninjago seasons in a while. It was actually amazing, especially compared to previous seasons that were lacking a little ya know?
The reason it isn’t 10/10 is because of Lloyd’s flashback. I think they should’ve brought his original VA back for that, because it ruined the immersion for me
Other than that little detail though I loved it all and I’m looking forward to S2 of this funky little sequel series
Spoilery opinions in the tags
#I miss Cole and Jay. They’re two of my favs and I wanna see em again soon#I need answers about Wildfyre’s entire existence#like why was she given fire powers from the merge and also where the heck did she even come from with that robot nanny#and why was Zane trapped in a pod? why was Wu’s spirit guiding them. Is Wu DEAD?! Is GARMADON DEAD?!#but anyway I LOVED the expansiveness of the season and all the new realms and characters as well as familiar ones and such#shame that it was basically confirmed Morro will never return but they should at least keep his memory alive geez#I hope they find Jay and Cole but that the series continues to focus on Arin and Sora as well as their new friends#time for the ninja to retire or idk take positions across the new worlds in order to defend each realm#if all the realms are together now how come Faith and Akita haven’t returned yet to visit? Man I miss them#edit: I FORGOT. WHERE IS PIXAL? WHERE IS SHE? SHOW ME HER NOW I NEED TO KNOW WHERE SHE IS#anyway that’s all folks time for the regular tags#ninjago dragons rising#lego ninjago#ninjago#ninjago: dragons rising#lego ninjago: dragons rising

Happy Birthday Beth!
~*~
It wasn't too big a stretch to see Beth's confusion when Caity says they're going away for a spa weekend. The last time she went to one on her own, Beth couldn't help but notice the bruises on her shins carefully concealed with opaque tights and jeans, raw knuckles, and her eventual confidence that she takes self-defense courses. And while it's incredibly noteworthy and very girl-boss of her, Beth wonders how much she really needs to learn. Mr Sweeney would never let anything happen to her, and maybe they don't see it but the man's absolutely over the moon with her. But it's not Beth's place to speak. They drive from Boston to Manhattan before Beth understands that they're on a real trip, and are picking up the girls. Jay and Tabby, Cory and... Luc. Okay so he's very technically not a girl, but her paramedic friend ~also once on track to becoming a doctor before he cracked under the pressure, and now they are a support group of two~ is the one person she knows absolutely needs two days of nothing but all inclusive pampering in the Hamptons. Caity never tells her that the weekend is mostly paid for by Mr Sweeney and her brother, the one time they aren't at one another's throats. It isn't an embarrasment to have her own house keeper opening the summer house for them, and maybe the staff are happy to finally be able to earn the ridiculous salaries they command. Everyone has their own room throughout the spacious mansion, and the beach calls them that first day. Beth couldn't help but laugh when Luc chose to wear a blonde wig and an orange swimsuit for their photo-line up. After dinner and a beautiful cake, they settle in the formal parlour for gifts and stories and pretty frilly cocktails. Each one is a token of love from her closest friends. Caity's choice of necklace and earrings are so lovely, so delicate, Beth can't help but tear up as she throws her hands around Caity's neck. There's brunch and mimosas, there's hot stone massages, mud baths, orchestral music. It really is the perfect get away, full of life and fun, and for those three days she remembers what it's like to be young and happy again, something she owes Caity.
Parting is bittersweet, and they all promise to do it again soon.
The ride back though is just as fun, singing along to the radio, talking about Ireland and Hawai'i, and how they ended up both coming to Boston. It’s a different kind of gift, but one as special and one as full of memories.

The Good Omens Musical Masterpost🎵❤
How it started :)
Some time before 2013: Vicki Larnach, the australian composer and lyricist, read the Good Omens book, imagined figures dancing on stage with brilliant music and thought, ‘Ah, I’m gonna ask Terry Pratchet and Neil Gaiman if I can turn it into a musical.’ and sent an email to the publishers. The next day she got an email saying, ‘We don’t want a musical but Terry’s coming to Australia, so come and say hello and tell us what you got.’
Rob Wilkins came down to meet Vicki and Jim Hare - Vicki's husband and writer - and took them to meet Terry. They spent an hour and a half with them where Terry asked ‘piercing questions’, had tea with them and they showed Terry a song that Vicki wrote (about the Chattering Nuns). Terry said to Rob, ‘Rob, write and email to Neil, “Dear Neil, this is Terry. I’m sitting in front of two hippies from Sydney and they want to make a musical out of Good Omens and I’m tempted to let them do it.”’ which was the best email they ever heard and then Terry said, ‘Okay, you have me curious.’ - it was because of the Nuns song which sounded like the book. ‘I’m gonna give you six months, come back with a first draft libretto and five songs.’
They then sent it to Terry who sent it to Gaiman. Terry said, ‘I really like it, you’re moving story, you’re doing all the right things, but where’s showstopper, where’s the toe-tapper, you know I need people to go to intermission just snapping their fingers with the song they just can’t get out of their head, and I haven’t heard that.’ - and they realized that they were so busy serving the story they forgot to do the wow-factor, but found it very encouraging from Terry that he wanted to make it better.
They went through the whole book again to find a centrepiece - and they found it when Warlock is growing up and Aziraphale and Crowley are with him, and spent months working just on that one thing and called ‘All Living Things’ [the song at the start of this post :)] which is a line from the book.*’ Terry gave that song to a person he knew and asked him to play it to his wife with no context and when the next day the person said that his wife woke up still singing the song Terry said to Vicki and Jim: ‘Well, that’s what I asked you to do.’
* [“This here’s Brother Slug,” the gardener would tell him, “and this tiny little critter is Sister Potato Weevil. Remember, Warlock, as you walk your way through the highways and byways of life’s rich and fulsome path, to have love and reverence for all living things.” “Nanny says that wivving fings is fit onwy to be gwound under my heels, Mr. Fwancis,” said little Warlock, stroking Brother Slug, and then wiping his hand conscientiously on his Kermit the Frog overall.]
Vicki and Jim got the permission to being adapting it as a musical in 2013.
Vicki and Jim on it a couple of years ‘fumbling about’, took it as far as they could and decided to bring another person into it: Jay-James Moody
In 2015, Jay James-Moody joined the collaboration initially as a dramaturge and directorial eye, eventually evolving into co-book writer. Vicki, James and Jay have continued to evolve through countless more revisions and a number of private development readings with the support, time and talent of numerous wonderful Australian performers testing the material.
In November 2017, the musical was presented in its then-current form and entirety for the first time before an audience of over 500 eager attendees. The cast included Luke Joslin, Lachlan O’Brien, Nancye Hayes, Barry Quin, Brett O’Neill, Lauren McKenna, Nicholas Craddock, Paul Capsis, Rob Johnson, Amy Lehpamer, Debora Krizak, Blake Erickson, Nat Jobe, Ana Maria Belo, Jordan Hare, Bella Thomas, Anthony Abrakmanov and Samson Hyland.
Following a rapturous response to this reading it continued to be refined and developed.
In 2019, ten days before the show came out they did their last presentation, since then they’ve been to London and shown a videotape of that workshop to Gaiman and Rob Wilkins which was ‘a pretty heartstopping experience’.
Differences between the musical and the book
The ending of the musical is a bit different.
It opens with the burning of Agnes Nutter and Aziraphale and Crowley are introduced there.
Act One ends with them ‘essentially breaking up’ because of a huge argument and they dissolve their friendship, Act Two starts with the first time they meet.
The Future?
What is the future for the musical: in 2021 they said that they need to work on some things and then they hope to do another run, initially in Australia.
There will be a CD of the soundtrack available when the show is produced in it’s full version.
In 2024 on insta they said that it is in "complicated process of rights to stage Good Omens" and "We appreciate your support and patience of the progress or seeming lack therof, of Good Omens the musical but we assure you, we will bring you the show in the next few years."

C/w: Lots of tension, awkwardness? Jay looking like a hormonal teenager in love. -ㅤTw: Divorce, insecurity (fear)?, nothing more | correct me if I'm wrong anyway!
Genre: fluff, suggestive, ceo!Jay x student!reader.
A/N: Dilf Jay has been in my drafts for 2 weeks now, I finally decided to finish it. And no, I don't plan on doing a 2n part, just imagine the rest. (◠‿・)—☆
the introduction is a bit long... My bad.
Previously...
Being William's nanny, the son of the illustrious CEO Park Jongseong, was far more than just a job. From day one, you realized you were stepping into a world vastly different from the one you knew. The Park mansion was an imposing place, brimming with luxury and meticulous details, yet it carried an atmosphere that made you feel as though you were constantly being watched.
Your first encounter with Jay—Park Jongseong, to be precise—was more formal than you had anticipated. They led you to his office, where he sat behind an expansive desk, engrossed in paperwork. He didn’t look up immediately, but when he finally did, his eyes met yours in a way that sparked an instant connection, though it was a connection you couldn’t quite define.
“So, you’re [...],” he said, his voice steady and controlled, yet there was an undercurrent of something more. “William is my top priority. I trust you can handle everything that comes with taking care of him.”
The first time he introduced you to William was a pivotal moment. The boy, small and inquisitive, regarded you with initial wariness, but the presence of his father beside him seemed to offer reassurance. Over time, William began to warm up to you, his smiles and laughter gradually becoming a cherished part of your daily routine.
Your relationship with Jay, however, unfolded differently. At first, you only saw him in passing as he left for or returned from work. But soon, you noticed that his visits to the living room, where you played with William, or to the kitchen, where you prepared dinner for his son, grew more frequent. It wasn’t uncommon to catch him silently watching you, his eyes tracking your every movement.
These encounters began to create a charged atmosphere, as if something unspoken was emerging between the two of you. Words were few, but the glances exchanged spoke volumes, far more than either of you were willing to admit. And though William was always at the center of these interactions, it was clear that the tension between you and Jay had nothing to do with the child.
One afternoon, as William napped in his room, you crossed paths with Jay in the hallway. The encounter was unexpected, but no less significant. Jay held your gaze for a long moment, his dark eyes searching yours.
“Is William okay?” he asked, but there was more layered beneath the surface of his words than their simple meaning suggested.
“Yes, he’s asleep,” you replied, feeling the air around you grow heavier. It was as though you both were waiting for something more to happen, yet neither dared to make the first move.
The moment that changed everything came when Jay called you to his office to pay you. As you entered, you sensed something different in his demeanor, a kind of anticipation. When he handed you the envelope, he did so almost casually, but as you reached out to take it, your fingers brushed against his. The touch was fleeting, yet it was enough to make you both pause.
For a brief moment, his fingers moved slightly, as though instinctively tracing yours. It was a subtle gesture, yet laden with meaning. You felt a warmth spread through you, a nervousness you hadn’t felt before. Jay seemed to feel it too, his eyes locked on yours as the tension in the room thickened.
Just as the moment seemed to stretch on endlessly, a distant sound broke the spell. William had woken up and was crying. The sound shattered the moment, and you quickly withdrew your hand, mumbling something about going to check on William.
You left the office with your heart pounding, knowing something had shifted, but unsure what to do about it.
From then on, every encounter with Jay in the mansion carried a new emotional weight, a kind of electricity that you both tried to ignore but that grew stronger with each passing day.
Present:
It's been a few weeks since you began working as William's personal nanny, following Jay's orders. The Park mansion, which once felt cold and distant, has gradually become familiar to you. You now know every corner, every hallway, and have grown accustomed to the soft murmur of hushed conversations among the staff, the faint echo of the piano resonating from the lounge, and the ever-present yet silent presence of Jay.
Yet, lately, something has shifted. You feel it in the way Jay looks at you whenever he finds you in the kitchen, the garden, or even in the playroom with William. There’s an intensity in his gaze that wasn’t there before, a kind of anticipation that leaves you uneasy.
One afternoon, as you're preparing William's snack, Jay unexpectedly enters the kitchen. His presence startles you; he's usually in his office or at meetings. It's unusual for him to spend this much time at home during the day.
"Need any help with that?" he asks, moving closer to the counter where you're slicing some fruit.
You glance at him sideways, surprised by his offer. "No, it's alright, thank you. I'm just preparing something light for William."
Jay remains beside you, standing too close for comfort. You can feel the warmth of his body next to yours, his arm brushing against yours as he picks up an apple from the fruit bowl.
"You've done a great job with him, you know," Jay remarks, taking a bite of the apple. "William adores you. It’s like you’re a second father to him."
"He's... a good kid," you reply, avoiding his gaze. You keep your eyes fixed on the knife in your hand, trying to ignore Jay's proximity, the scent of his expensive cologne that he always wears, and the way his deep voice seems to caress your senses along with that comment... "Second father?" your mind lingered on that phrase as you expertly cut the fruit.
Jay sets the apple aside and looks at you intently, as if waiting for something. "I've noticed you've been spending more time here at the house lately. You seem more at ease."
You nod slowly, unsure of what to say. "Yes, I suppose I'm getting used to the place."
"I'm glad to hear that," Jay responds, and there's a tone in his voice that makes you pause.
When you finally look at him, you find his eyes locked on yours, serious, as if searching for something in your expression. "I want you to feel at home, [...]. You're important to William... and to me."
That last sentence hangs in the air between you, laden with a meaning you’d rather not dwell on too much. You feel your breath quicken slightly, but you force yourself to stay composed.
"Thank you, Jay," you manage to say, striving to keep your tone casual. "That means a lot to me."
He smiles, but there's something else in his gaze, something you can't quite pinpoint—more so because his gaze was like knives piercing into you. And then, as if testing the limits of your self-control, Jay leans in a little closer, his lips almost brushing your ear.
"I don't just want you to be William's nanny," he whispers, his voice smooth and velvety, "I want you to stay here... for me, for both of us."
Your heart pounds wildly, and you pull back slightly, trying to maintain your composure. You know there's more behind his words, something beyond the professional relationship—one that you’re supposed to have.
Jongseong seems to notice your unease and steps back slightly, giving you the space you clearly need. "I'm sorry, I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable," he says, and although his tone is kind, you can’t help but notice the disappointment in his eyes.
"No... it's alright," you respond, stealing one last glance at him. Both of you know it isn’t entirely alright. The air between you is thick, laden with something you’re both trying to ignore.
With a sigh, you finish cutting the fruit and place it on a plate. "I’m going to take this to William... he should be in the playroom."
Jay nods, his eyes following your every move as you head toward the door. Just as you’re about to leave, you hear his voice behind you.
"[...]," he calls, and his tone is more serious than you’ve ever heard before.
You pause at the door, slowly turning to face him. Jay is standing in the same spot, arms crossed over his chest, his expression grave.
"If you ever feel uncomfortable... if you ever feel like I'm crossing a line, just tell me. I don’t want you to think that I’m pressuring you or, worse, harassing you."
The sincerity in his voice catches you off guard, and for a moment, you feel a surge of emotions you don’t quite know how to handle. You simply nod slowly, appreciating his consideration—though both of you know things won’t go back to how they were.
"I will, Jay. Thank you."
With that, you leave, but the weight of the conversation lingers, making you question what exactly Jay wants from you... and what you feel for him.
The following days are filled with those silent moments, lingering glances that last a bit longer than necessary, the brush of hands when he hands you something or when you run into him in the hallways. These small gestures, which might seem insignificant to others, become the focal point of your world, making you question the relationship you have with Jay and what it might mean for the future.
______________________
It was a Friday night, and the house was cloaked in near-total silence. You were in William’s room, gently rocking the child in your arms. His eyelids drooped slowly as you hummed a soft melody, preparing to lay him down to sleep.
The boy held onto the bottle you were cradling for him, his breaths growing deeper and more rhythmic.
With careful precision, you eased William onto his bed, ensuring he didn’t stir. You lingered for a few moments, a tender smile forming on your lips as you lightly brushed your fingers across his cheek.
Slowly, you slid the bottle from his mouth, keenly aware of any sudden movements that might disturb his sleep, but the child only sighed, snuggling into his pillow, peacefully lost in dreams, clutching a stuffed toy imbued with the scent of his father.
You turned with the intent to quietly exit the room, but froze when you noticed Jay leaning against the doorway.
His arms were crossed, and a gentle smile played on his lips as he watched the tender scene between you and his son. The soft light from the hallway outlined his figure, highlighting the serenity in his expression, though his eyes conveyed something deeper.
“You’re really good with him,” Jay murmured, his voice low, careful not to wake William.
“Thank you,” you whispered back, trying to ignore the sudden quickening of your heartbeat. His words, though simple, carried a warmth that left you feeling vulnerable.
Jay stepped forward, his gaze still locked on you. “I need to speak with you in my office. It’s time to give you your monthly payment.”
You nodded, attempting to mask the nervousness that crept in. As you passed him in the doorway, you took care not to brush against him, yet his nearness made you acutely aware of the shared space between you. Jay followed closely as you left the room, quietly closing the door behind you so as not to disturb William’s sleep.
The walk to Jay’s office was silent, yet the tension between you was unmistakable. Each step echoed in your ears as you tried to maintain your composure. Upon reaching the office, Jay opened the door, motioning for you to enter first.
Once inside, the atmosphere shifted; the intimacy of the office, with its dark wood-paneled walls and the warm glow of the desk lamp, seemed to encapsulate everything that was unfolding between you.
Jay moved towards his desk, pulling an envelope from the top drawer. He took his time, as though the weight of the moment was more significant than the mere transaction about to take place.
You approached slowly, trying to appear calm, though the anticipation in the air made it difficult to focus.
“This is your payment,” Jay said, extending the envelope toward you. When you reached out to take it, his fingers brushed against yours. It was a fleeting touch, yet it was enough to make both of you pause, as if time itself had halted for just a moment.
Your eyes met, and though neither of you spoke, the subtle caress between your hands lingered for a few seconds longer. It was as if you were both caught in a silent dance, one in which neither you nor Jay dared to be the first to pull away.
You felt a sense of déjà vu—everything was happening just like the previous month, but this time, you didn’t want to pull away... You were savoring his warmth.
Finally, you snapped out of it, withdrawing your hand with a mix of nervousness and something you couldn’t quite define. “Thank you,” you murmured, stepping back.
Jay, however, remained unmoved, his gaze fixed on you as if he were wrestling with something in his mind. There was an intensity in his eyes, a tension that made the air in the room feel even heavier.
Though the silence between you had grown thick, a part of you yearned for him to say something more, something that might shatter the invisible barrier that seemed to keep you both ensnared in roles that no longer felt so defined.
Just as discomfort began to settle in your chest, the faint sound of a baby monitor on the desk broke the moment.
It was William.
With a sigh, you took a step back. “I need to check on William; he might have woken up,” you said, more to yourself than to Jay, before turning quickly and exiting the office, your heart racing.
You were determined to push aside whatever you were feeling, tucking the envelope of money into your back pocket as you made your way swiftly to the door. The less time you spent alone with Jay, the better...
Before you could take another step toward the door, Jay’s hand grasped yours firmly. The grip was determined, almost as if he wanted to ensure you wouldn't escape—no, not this time.
You stopped, your heart pounding in your chest as you slowly turned to face him, unwilling to hold his gaze for too long.
Jay was closer than you had expected. His dark eyes, brimming with an intensity you could barely endure, locked onto yours.
He said nothing at first but took your chin in his hand, forcing you to look directly at him; the silence in the room was dense, charged with palpable tension. The atmosphere between you was electric, as if you both knew you were on the brink of something irreversible.
Jay took a step forward, and though your instinct urged you to retreat, your body remained still, caught in the invisible force radiating from him.
You could feel the warmth of his body mere centimeters from yours, and just being so close made you feel vulnerable in a way you hadn’t experienced before.
“[...]” Jay murmured, his voice low with a hint of something you couldn’t quite place. “If you don’t want this, if it’s too much, tell me now.”
His words hung in the space between you, but instead of responding immediately, you found yourself trapped in his gaze, unable to look away. Part of you wanted to tell him to stop, that this was wrong, but another part—one that grew with each passing second—wanted nothing more than to give in.
“Jay...” you began, but your voice faltered as he took another step, closing the remaining distance between you.
You could feel his breath on your skin, and before you could say another word, he raised the hand holding yours to his lips.
“Stop me... push me away... or hit me, but do it before I go any further,” Jay whispered against your hand, his lips brushing your skin with a softness that made you shiver.
You wanted to do each of the things he suggested. But you didn’t. You didn’t move, didn’t speak. You just stared at him, your breath caught in your throat, as he leaned in, his free hand moving to your jaw, ensuring you couldn’t pull away.
When his lips finally met yours, the world seemed to fade away.
The kiss started gently, a delicate exploration as if he were testing your limits. But soon, it became more assured, more intense, and you found yourself responding without thinking. Your lips moved with his in perfect harmony, as if they had been destined to meet this way from the start.
Jay drew you closer, his hand on your hips, pulling you toward him until there was no space left between your bodies.
You could feel each heartbeat of his resonating through his chest, and the warmth of his touch enveloped you, making everything else fade away. His fingers glided over your jaw, moving slowly to tangle in your hair, while his lips moved with a tenderness that contrasted with the intensity of his grip.
With every passing second, the tension between you grew, becoming almost unbearable.
Jay pulled back slightly, just enough to look you in the eyes, his breath ragged as he rested his forehead against yours.
“You have no idea how much I’ve wanted to do this,” Jay whispered, his voice filled with a mixture of desire and something deeper you couldn’t fully grasp due to the kiss and his presence. “From the moment I saw you with William... I knew there was something about you, something I couldn’t ignore, something that made me think of you as his father.”
Your eyes met his, and for a moment, you felt completely exposed, as if he could see through every one of your defenses.
He tried to move closer again, but this time, you were the one who pulled back slightly, reason finally taking control over the desire bubbling inside you.
“Jay, this can’t happen...” you whispered, trying to maintain composure, though the words sounded weak even to your own ears.
Jay didn’t let go. His hold on your waist remained firm, and his eyes studied you, searching for any sign that you truly wanted to stop this.
“Why not? What are you afraid of, [...]?” His voice was a whisper, but there was an urgency in it, a need to understand why you were pulling away when it was clear that you both wanted the same thing.
Before you could respond, the sound of the front door opening echoed through the mansion, followed by footsteps rapidly approaching the office. A soft knock on the door made both of you freeze, and you felt your heart race as you recognized the butler’s voice outside.
“Mr. Jay, Miss Eunjen has arrived... she says she’s here to discuss the details of the divorce.”
The mention of his ex-wife was like a bucket of cold water, bringing reality crashing back.
Jay let out a disgusted growl, his jaw tensing as he turned his gaze toward the door, visibly irritated by the interruption. The tension in his body was palpable, and though he still hadn’t released you, you could sense that something had changed in him.
“Always the damned divorce...” Jay muttered, more to himself than to you, before finally letting you go, though not without leaving a hand on your arm, as if he wasn’t quite ready to let you go completely.
“[...]” Jay whispered, looking at you with a mix of frustration and desire, “this isn’t over. I’m not going to let whatever’s happening between us end like this.”
You felt heat rise to your cheeks at the intensity of his words, but you knew there was no time to discuss it.
The fear of being discovered, combined with the reality of the situation, was too great.
“Jay... you should go,” you whispered, your voice trembling as you tried to stay calm. “I... I need to check on William.”
Jay nodded, though clearly reluctantly, but before releasing you completely, he leaned in one last time, placing a firm, possessive kiss on your neck, right at the base of your throat.
The gesture was so intimate, so charged with repressed emotions, that it made you close your eyes for a moment, wanting to prolong that contact.
“This isn’t over, [...], not for me... and I hope not for you either,” he murmured against your skin before finally pulling away, his eyes burning with a promise as he headed for the door to face Eunjen.
As Jay walked away, you stood there, leaning against the office door, trying to regain your composure, knowing that what had just happened would change everything, but not quite knowing how.

The Waynes' Nanny
Batfamily and Reader/ Bruce Wayne x Reader Chapters Ao3
Book Shop Nanny
It was too nice of a day in Gotham to pass up sitting in the park. So, you packed up a little basket of food, a picnic blanket, and some toys, and rounded up the brood of children to force them into a day of outside activities. They all were enthusiastic about it, in reality, and even Mr. Wayne decided to join you.
Now, you were sat between Damian, who was getting a bit sleepy already, and Mr. Wayne, who looked too pale in proper lighting. The rest of the kids, save for Dick, were running about playing a sham game of badminton. You watched them happily, your heart leaping with every childish giggle or joke. Then, you noticed the eldest Wayne boy sitting across from you.
Dick was torn between paying attention to the group and a fine pair of brown eyes not too far away. You looked to where his eyes were to see a young redheaded girl sitting on a blanket with some friends, giggling away. Like you, they were having a picnic.
Smiling, you said, “You should go talk to her.”
“What?” Dick said.
Bruce glanced down at you, now focusing on the conversation right next to him. He didn’t say anything but listened as you said, “I see you staring at her, Dickie. Just go say hi.”
Looking over his shoulder, Bruce saw Barbara Gordon, Commissioner Jim Gordon’s daughter, sitting with her friends. Dick stumbled over his words, eventually getting out that it wasn’t really an option for him to go up and just talk to her.
“Do you know her?” You asked. When Dick nodded yes, you added, “Then it shouldn’t be a problem. Just go up and say you saw her over there and wanted to say hi.”
The boy seemed a little more interested now. “What if she really doesn’t want to see me?”
“Then get the hint and leave her alone. You’re making this too complicated.”
“What do I say?” Dick said.
Bruce was going to give some advice at that point, just to seem like a parent, but you were quick with a response. “After you say hi, ask her what she’s up to today. Just ask her about herself. People love talking about themselves.” You took a moment to yell to Jason not to be so rough with Tim and Duke before going on. “For instance, if someone asked me about my books, I’d never shut up.”
“But…” Dick paused to think. “Well, okay, I guess.”
Slowly, the boy got up and made his way over to Barbara’s group. She smiled upon seeing him approach and immediately invited him to join. Smiling, you told Mr. Wayne that you knew everything would turn out.
After a few minutes of silence, Bruce finally asked, “I never took you as much of a reader.”
“Oh, yeah,” You said with a bright smile. “I would say I read about as much as Jason, but I think he might have me beat.”
Bruce chuckled. “If reading ever becomes a job, I think Jay would be ten times richer than me...You’re always welcome to the books in the library at home, you know.”
You smiled kindly at Mr. Wayne. “I do now. Thank you.”
“Well, I think a majority of them are law and medical books, but it never hurts to brush up on your STEM knowledge.”
You laughed a little and adjusted Damian on your lap. “Oh, I’d say the books I read are a little medical.”
“What do you read then?”
You smiled before turning back to the kids, and he began to wonder if what you said had a little mischievous double meaning. Bruce stared at you, trying to find something to say, either about books or just about you, but couldn’t find the right question. Finally, he settled on just suggesting that, after the park, maybe they could all go to the bookstore. You agreed heavily, thinking that Jason and the rest of the kids would enjoy it.
“You can get something, too, if you like,” Bruce offered. “I think we can fit it into the budget.”
You laughed a little too hard at the joke, not having anticipated it from Mr. Wayne of all people. “I mean, if we can squeeze two pennies together then why not!”
“But, you do want to go?”
“Of course, I’d do anything for a free book,” You said with a playful wink.
Bruce chuckled as he looked back at his kids, thinking that just maybe there was a bit of weight in your advice.

Exciting ||Jay Halstead x Daughter and reader
Jay has to take his daughter to work for the first time and he’s not excited about it.
For the one that voted Jay x daughter on the poll (this is not a Christmas story though)
Jay wasn’t comfortable with the idea of taking his 4 years old daughter to work, but seemed like luck was not on his side. The girl was on vacation, Y/N was on a work trip, the nanny got sick, Will was on shift and the little girl’s grandparent’s couldn’t take care of her all day long, so he had no choice. He called Voight, who with his raspy voice and without any problem said “Bring her.”
He sighed, “Ok, baby girl. You are coming to work with me today” He notified his little daughter who was sitting with her short legs hanging from the couch.
“To the police station?” Her eyes were shining bright out of excitement.
“Yea”, her dad chuckled. “Mommy will pick you up later, when she comes back home from her trip, ok?”
“Okay. I am excited!” Excited was the last feeling she learned in school and from then on she would use it for everything.
“I am excited too”, he lied, he was more nervous than anything. “Go get your backpack”, he ordered and when she was gone he muttered to himself, “I’m already running late”
It wasn’t common to take one’s son or daughter to the bullpen, but is wasn’t so strange either. Voight and Al had done it in the past with their kids; Burgess and Adam had done it with Malayla too, even Kevin had to take his little sister from time to time. This was the family Hank talked about.
Jay went upstairs with a small pink and shinny backpack with unicorn form on his arm, making a funny contrast with the gun hanging from his hips.
“Where’s the baby girl?” Adam said when he saw his friend arriving alone.
“Platt stole her from me”, he answered. He would have arrived even later if he had waited for Trudy to give her back to him. Kim smiled at the image.
“We haven’t seen her in a while”, Al peeked his head from his hidden desk to participate in the conversation, “A bit of her cheerfulness will do good to this place”
“Well, she is, and I’m quoting, “very excited” to see you all”, the proud dad smirked.
But as much excited as she was, the baby Halstead was very shy to even say good morning to them. As soon as Trudy Platt carried her upstairs, the girl ran towards her father as fast as she could.
“Why are you crying?” Jay asked in a very low voice, while sitting her on his lap.
But the one answering the question was Platt, “She started to worry when she noticed you weren’t around downstairs and then silently started crying”
Ashamed, the little Halstead girl hugged her dad’s neck and buried her face on his shoulder. A chorous of “aw” was heard around. This wasn’t what she expected, visiting the police station didn’t make her feel excited after all.
“It’s alright”, Jay kept whispering into her ear. It was only after a few minutes later that she calmed down, but even when she was acting as if nothing had happened, she was still embarrased.
Al passed by from the coffee room to his desk and handed a coockie to the girl. She hesitated on accepting it, she first turned to her dad who nodded in approval and she stretched her tiny arm to take it.
“Precauted girl. Good”, Olinsky smiled at her and she smiled back.
“Why don’t you take your colors and get to work in your coloring book, hm?” Jay said more like an order as he put her down. He couldn’t really advance in his work if she was there right beside him.
They walked to an unoccupied desk right infront of Adam. The girl climbed the chair as her dad took her belongings out of the unicorn backpack, “There you go. I’ll be right there if you need me. Remember to…”
“…be quiet, shhh” his daughter completed.
She stayed there for a while, coloring different pages. The detectives, specially Kim, would praise her artistic work whenever they had to walk by her side. She liked Kim, that woman was funny, but she couldn’t really take her eyes off of the man who had gave her the cookie: Alvin Olinsky, but he was too busy to noticed.
“Daddy”, she silently stood up an whispered, trying not to distract the people around, “I don’t want to color anymore. I want to draw”
“Uh, let me check if I have something for you to—“
“I have some white sheets in here”, Hailey opened a drawer and handed a bunch to the Halstead girl. She liked Hailey too, she had a bright smile.
“How do you say?” Her father encouraged her before going back to her place.
“Thank you, Hailssss”
She was immersed in her own world, drawing, coloring and cutting. She stood up to get closer to Adam and touched his leg to call his attention.
“How do you write ‘I love you’?” She asked the detective.
“Oh!” He took a notebook and a pen, “Very easy, let me just show you”
Jay looked up to witness the scene, altough he couldn’t hear any word they were exchanching, “Hey, sweetie”, he called out, “Let Ruz work, ok?”
“No big deal” His collegue said handing her the sheet.
A few minutes later, the little girl stood up once more to go with her father. She stretched her hand to hand him a very colorful circle of paper.
“Wow! Is this for me?” Jay exxagerated his emotion, and then melted when he read the phrase ‘I love you’ followed by a crooked heart.
With excitement, she explained it was a cup holder: “Yea, you can put your mug there”. Following orders from such a smooth voice, Jay placed his mug over the gift.
“Just what I needed” He kissed her head. When she withdrew of his side, Jay immediatly took the paper with the witten phrase and placed it in a spot where he was able to see it all the time.
Before going back to sit on her chair, the girl passed by Al’s desk and stood next to him staring, until he finally noticed.
She took him by surprise, a cute surprise, “Hey, you scared me!” That made her laugh.
“What do you like the most?” The kid asked wothout any other introduction, “Ducks or unicorns?”
Detective Olinsky took his time to answer the question. He observed that Halstead’s daughter was wearing a T-shirt full of unicorns, her pink shinny backback also had the shape of a unicorn, so he went by that, thinking it would be the correct answer.
“Unicorns, I love unicorns”
But she didn’t had the reaction he expected, instead she sadenned, “Oh! I was going to draw a duck for you”
Being in a space close to Olinsky, and paying attention to what his daughter was doing all the time, Jay listened and couldn’t help to smile to the reaction of his parter.
“Oh, well, I love ducks too!” Alvin tried to amend his error.
“A duck, then?”
“Yea, a duck!”
And she moved her tiny legs as fast as she could. Both detectives shared a look and laughed.
It didn’t pass a lot of time when the girl was next to Olinsky’s chair again, but this time he noticed. Without speaking, she handed to him the drawing of a duck happily swimming in a lake.
“What? Is this for me?” She nodded. There was something peaceful in his voice that she liked. “Thank you very much! I really love it. What’s this?” He pointed to a brown circle tha was close to the animal. The answer make him smile showing his teeth.
“A cookie”
“Well, this masterpiece deserves to be in a special place” The detective took a bit of tape and pasted the drawing where it could be seen by everyone.
Little Halstead ran to his father to tell him what just had happened.
“That’s not fair!” Adam teased her later on the day. “I want my own drawing too! I showed you how to write that phrase, you gotta remember that!”
“It will have to be another day”, Jay intervened. “Time to pick everything up, your mom’s on her way to pick you up”
“Mommy’s back?” She asked with the same bright eyes she had when realizing she was going to the police station.
“Yeah!” Her dad smirked.
“I am excited!” She stated while putting her stuff back into the backpack.
“Say goodbye, time to go. Mommy’s downstairs”
She waved her little hand to everybody in the bullpen, “Bye bye”. She even peeked her head into Voight’s office, “Goodbye, Serge”
“You are leaving already? Goodbye, little one” Hank said in a very friendly tone, “Come back soon, whenever you want”
She laughed at the idea, “I will”
It was a bit hard for her to walk down the stairs. “Do you need help?” Jay asked with his arms opened to carry her and she jumped to him.
As soon as she spotted Y/N at the desk with Trudy she yelled at her. Jay put her down on the floor when the stairs were over and his baby ran towards her mom, who picked her up in a tight hug.
“Mommy!”
“Ugh, how much I missed you” Y/N said covering their daughter in kisses.
“Me too!”
“Did the detectives threated you good?” Trudy asked, “How was your day at daddy’s work, hm?”
Wothout hesitating and with a lot of emotion, the girl answered “Oh! It was exciting!”

If I Fell For You: Worst Nightmare
Summary: Jensen's worst nightmare is about to come true...
Masterlist
Pairing: Jensen x nanny!reader
Word Count: 1,600ish
Warnings: language, heavy mentions of injury/blood/car accident
A/N: The agnst is strong...
________
Shouting woke you up. Very loud, very upset shouting. You blinked, slowly turning your head and finding the world was upside down. There was something to your left, something bent and the smell of metal and blood in the air made your nose twinge.
Then you remembered you were in the car. Driving on the highway to the brewery to grab some pizza and a few beers to bring home for dinner. You turned and touched the metal panel, the front of the car or part of the roof was your guess, now smack dab in the center console and cutting you off from the other side.
“Jay,” you croaked out. The shouting stopped and you squeezed your eyes shut. “Jensen. I’m okay.”
“Y/N,” he said as you remembered him shoving a hand in front of your chest.
“Please tell me you’re in one piece,” you whispered.
“Yeah, I-I think so. Y-You?”
“I think so too,” you said, putting a hand on the roof below you, the windshield caved in, passenger door looking like a crumbled piece of paper. “Jay, I’m stuck in here.”
“Are you okay?” he asked.
“I think it’s just bumps and bruises,” you said. “Can you move?”
“No,” he said quietly, not saying another word.
“Are you hurt?” He didn’t respond and you hit the panel between you. “Hey! Are you hurt?”
“I’m okay.”
“Dammit, tell me the truth.”
“My arm is cut up some but I’m okay. I can’t…fuck I can’t get out either.” He slapped the metal piece between you and you shushed him. “Y/N-“
“Relax honey. Sh, relax. I’m right here. I’m gonna be okay and you’re gonna…be okay…it’s going to be just fine. Just…just do your breathing that Ray showed you when you get anxious okay? It’ll…be okay,” you said, pressing your hand against your bleeding leg. “Shit.”
“You sound hurt,” he breathed out. “What’s wrong?”
“I’m uh, bleeding from my thigh. It’s not gushing so it couldn’t have been anything too bad, right?” you tried to joke, Jensen slamming against the panel again. “It’s not that deep. Also I’m pretty sure I have pizza in my hair.”
“What?”
“Yeah. I hope you like the smell of marinara cause that’s gonna take forever to wash out,” you said, trying to leverage yourself against the roof of the car. “Now’s as good a time as any to tell you this.”
“Tell me what?” he asked quietly. “Are you-”
“Led Zeppelin sucks and I cannot believe you have so many of their original records. Don’t even get me started on your infatuation with fucking country music. I hate country music and I think it’s time I put my foot down and ban it from the house. What do you say?” you said, squeezing your palm hard over your leg.
He let out a quiet huff of air that was akin to a dry laugh.
“I say you’re trying to distract me which either means you’re seriously fucked up over there and not telling me or you’re trying to keep me from having a panic attack by falsely insulting my music. So-”
“Hey, I do not like country as much as you and those are facts.”
“I know you don’t yet you listen to it for me,” he said, realizing for the first time it was still playing on the radio. “Imagine if you had to die listening to music you hated.”
“I’d live out of pure spite,” you said, Jensen chuckling a little. “I promise it’s the later. Trust me. If it were bad, I’d be asking you all sorts of shit about Dee so we can shit talk your music choices in the afterlife.”
He laughed for a split second, grunting loudly and making your heart race. “Yeah, you’re okay. Or not actively dying at least.”
“Not doing that. On the negative, everything hurts but positive side, I smell like pizza and beer, two of your favorite things.”
“Always got those silver linings,” he said as you heard sirens in the distance. “Y/N?”
“Yeah, honey?”
“You know how I said my arm was cut up?” he said, swallowing thickly. The pit in your stomach dropped, eyes closing.
“How bad is it?” you whispered.
“Bad enough I wrapped my belt around my arm to stop the bleeding.”
“Be honest. Please,” you said, wishing you could do something, anything. The silence was deafening, his labored inhale the only indication that he was still awake. “How bad?”
“There’s a piece of metal sticking out of my forearm. Pretty sure it sliced through the veins in there judging by the amount of blood.” You fought back tears, taking a shaky breath. “I’m really cold and tired. But I’m gonna stay awake-”
“Write me a song. Write me a fucking country song right now,” you said, forcing your eyes open. “What’s the melody?”
“Uh, what?” he asked. “Y/N, I’m-”
“I know what you’re saying and you can stay up until dawn even when you’re exhausted when you’re working on music so you write me a damn song right now and stay the fuck awake,” you croaked out.
“Well I need a banjo in there because I know that’s your favorite,” he teased, car doors slamming nearby.
“You’re a dickhead,” you said, Jensen chuckling. “Alright, banjo. What else?”
“Violin and a cello somehow. You fucking love the sound of-”
“Him first!” you shouted when you saw some boots in front of you, quickly watching them jog to his side of the car.
“Oh shit,” one of the responders said and with that, your heart truly sank, unsure if it would ever come back up.
They’d gotten Jensen out of the car first and carted off by the time you had a makeshift bandage around your thigh. Something felt off with your leg and several hours and a surgery later, your foot was in a cast. But when you woke up in post-op, Jensen wasn’t there, a nurse telling you he was still in the operation room.
So now all you could do was sit in a room in the ICU, staring out the glass door, praying you saw Jensen. It felt like the longest twenty three minutes of your life.
You shot straight up in bed when you saw a sleepy looking Jensen getting stopped in a bed outside your door.
“Whoa. I want to stay in the hot girl’s room,” he murmured, winking lazily at you. Yeah, he was definitely hopped up on something, his right arm wrapped and wrapped and wrapped in a thick mass of bandages.
“Let’s leave her alone,” said the nurse behind the bed, pushing him forward again, making him shout. She froze, Jensen staring in your room, shaking his head out.
“Thats my wife. I want to be with her.” The nurse sighed, Jensen’s face falling. “Please,” he whispered, voice cracking.
“You can see her in a minute, I promise,” she said, pushing him along. You waited exactly four minutes before slamming the nurse button over and over, one entering your room, giving you an annoyed glare.
“You should be sleeping,” she said. “You need to rest.”
“My husband is on the other side of this wall and last time I saw him he was bleeding out so I think a five minute field trip is more than fair-”
“He’s asleep like you should be.” You stared her down, the nurse eventually relenting. “Just stay there.” She left and returned after three minutes, shoving an ipad in your hand. “We used these during the pandemic. You can facetime him for a few minutes but then you both need sleep.”
She tapped a number and a split second later, Jensen’s beat up face appeared on screen.
“Well if ain’t the hot girl calling me from her bed,” he teased, the nurse rolling her eyes and leaving. “Are you alone?”
“Yeah. How are you?” you asked. He held up his injured arm and sighed. “You’re alive and that’s what matters.”
“I’m going to need physical therapy again. Months to recover and rebuild the muscle in my forearm. I already know it. You too with that foot of yours.” He rested his head against his pillow. “What about that cut on your leg?”
“Just gotta lay off it for a bit. It’s the same leg as my broken foot so that’ll be easy.” You both just stared at each other for a moment, a mess of bruises and small cuts littering your skin. “We’ll get through this.”
“I know.” He glanced down, closing his eyes. “I didn’t realize I was bleeding so bad until you made me calm down by insulting one of the best bands in history. You saved my neck.”
“That only happened because you put your arm in front of me. It could have been so much worse and-”
“Silly girl,” he murmured, slowly forcing his eyelids open, a softness to them you weren’t expecting. “I’ll always protect you. If you get a little less hurt because I did then that’s a win for me.”
Your bottom lip wobbled, Jensen shushing you. “Don’t say things like that, Jay.”
“Says the girl who stopped me from having a full on panic attack during arguably my worst nightmare. We protect each other, that’s how it works.” You smiled, Jensen returning it. “I’m taking you to a country music festival when we’re up for it in honor of saving me.”
“I want a divorce.”
He laughed so loud you heard it echo down the hall. He’d be okay again. You both would.
Eventually.

Who is a girl dad and who is a boy dad: Matt Casey, Kelly Severide, Brian Otis Zvonecek, Jeff Clarke, Sam Carver, Will Halstead, Ethan Choi, Connor Rhodes, Crockett Marcel, Jay Halstead, Adam Ruzek & Antonio Dawson?
Before I answer this I want to remind everyone that I don't currently write for Chicago Fire. I probably won't ever do reader inserts for it just because I'm not a huge fan and I feel like that show died a painful death around season 4. But I will attempt some of the headcannons that hit me the right way. This one was just too fun to pass up.
I didn't do Sam Carver-Sorry I didn't make it to season 11- I stopped at 6/7ish.
I also want to say of course I think they would be good with the other gender too. I just wanted to pick one to be fair to the question. I spent way to much time on this and made them way longer than necessary lol. Hope ya'll enjoy and thanks for the ask <3
Will Halstead: Boy Dad!
I think Will needs to have a son. I think raising a mini version of himself is exactly what the doctor ordered (pun completely intended). We all know that Will has a stubborn streak a country mile wide and that when he gets an idea in his head, he can't let it go. Could you imagine that in child form? His red headed little boy going through a stubborn streak where is sure that any green food is icky because he didn't like peas. How about when he wears his basketball shoes to bed every night of the season because he is sure if he doesn't his team will lose? A son would teach Will to be more flexible in his viewpoint because his son will challenge his- well everything. The questions his little boy will ask with have Will rethinking things he never thought to question.
The main reason I think Will needs a son is that he can heal the wounds his dad carved into him. He gets to understand the struggles of raising a child with a personality like his own. It helps him better understand his father's frustration but he also never felt more disconnected from the man. Because Will could never understand the need to make his child feel the way he did growing up. Disconnected and a disappointment. Will raises his son the way he would have wanted to be raised- with understanding, acceptance, and praise. No one is prouder of their son than Will Halstead is. And with all that love, attention, and support Will gets to see his son not only live his life but thrive in it.
Ethan Choi: Girl Dad!
I don't think that surprised anyone. Ethan is a hardass veteran. He is all structure all the time. He kept getting better as time when on but you know what would push him along and make him absolutely melt? A little girl with dark hair and lashes. He thinks he will be a strict parent-and when it comes to school and safety he is. She will learn how to protect herself and have good enough grades to do anything she wants when she graduates.
But when it comes down to the little things Ethan has a hard time saying no to his little girl. Because she is warmth and innocence. She is the biggest smiles and climbing onto his lap to cuddle. So does it really matter if her clothes don't match because she loves them. And who really cares if they have dessert before dinner on occasion. And how can anyone say no to her staying up late so that they can have father daughter time- even if it is just them rewatching Star Wars for the millionth time.
Connor Rhodes: Girl Dad!
Connor absolutely spoils his little girl- not with money- but with attention. He doesn't want a nanny or money raising his baby. From the very beginning he makes a promise not to miss a single doctor's appointment and he nearly keeps it too- an emergency trauma caused him to miss one ultrasound. He takes the full paternal leave that is offered through work to bond with his blue-eyed little girl. He barely puts her down not wanting to miss a minute. His daughter is the biggest daddy's girl. Her first word is dadda and she says it nonstop for almost a month.
When he goes back to work, he books mandatory time with his daughter. He goes to at least three tea parties a week. When she gets a little older, they share a hobby of making food. It starts out with her helping him cook and trying recipes together. When she starts forming a preference for baking the dynamic changes slightly. They teach each other recipes and are a dynamic dinner duo. There are some growing pains. Connor struggles with his little girl not needing him anymore. He has tears in his eyes when she tells him, "I will always need you daddy."
Crockett Marcel: Girl Dad! (This is also just true to the show)
Crockett cherished every moment with his little girl. When she is a newborn, he holds her constantly and lets her sleep on his chest. Then he starts using a baby wrap to carry his daughter and be hands free. The long stretchy cloth was supposed to be a gag gift and obnoxiously bright fluorescent colors with a bold feminine print, but Marcel wears it with a smile. (It was a gift from Ethan to welcome him into the girl dad club. He included a gray one too, but Marcel only wears the bright on around work and his collogues.) The constant affection because a habit and his little girl has a hard time falling asleep anywhere but daddy's chest.
Crockett is a constant picture taker as his daughter grows. He phone memory is maxed out with pictures of her. He teaches her to speak Farsi. Every important or emotion filled conversation between the two is spoken in Farsi. Every tragedy, accomplishment, argument, exciting news, heartbreak and success. There is a comfort in words and bond the word share between the pair.
Jay Halstead: Girl Dad!
Jay fully embraces being a girl dad. He dresses her in the cute girly outfits. He learned how to take care of and do her hair. He never found a braid or hairstyle he couldn't master that his little girl wanted. He even kept extra hair ties in his wallet because she was constantly loosing or breaking them. He let her paint his nails bright pink and yellow while he watched the sea hawk's game. He always got up to do the dance parties and twirl her around. He never complained about playing dress up or wearing a taira or a brightly colored feather boa. And he was always willing to give up his half of the bed so that she could cuddle up with him after a nightmare or just because she got lonely in her room by herself.
Jay is a supportive dad. He does everything in his power to give his daughter the confidence to do anything and everything that she wants to. He wants her to feel safe enough at home that she can be daring (but not unsafe) in her choices. She can go against the grain, and he will still be proud of her. He supports her when she wants to play softball instead of do ballet. Then supports her when she decides that she like science and then when she hates it. He just smiles and buys her lava soap and Gojo pumice hand cleaner when she decides to take an automotive class instead of economics. The only thing that Jay struggles to be supportive of is when his little girl starts dating. He reconned her first date he watched her twist the guys wrist back when he tried to grab her butt then storms away after giving him a piece of her mind. Jay is proud of her boundaries but feels guilty for spying- even though he didn't get caught. He stops spying on dates but can never stop himself from giving them the talk with his gun and badge on his hip (Even well into her twenties).
Adam Ruzek: Boy Dad!
Adam had a good relationship with his dad growing up. He knows what a good dad looks like. His father sacrificed a fulfilling career to be able to be there for his son. Adam struggles with not being able to do the same. He misses games and holidays. His son says he understands but it is clear in his eye that his is disappointed when Adam doesn't show. But he makes up for it because when Adam is there- his all in. He helps his son practice his slap shot and cheers the loudest at his son's hockey games, he helps him with homework (even when he doesn't understand it and has to google it, gives him advice on girls (even when he doesn't want it), and checks him when he needs it.
It takes a lot for Adam to hard check his son. His son is a good kid- even if he does tell him at 10pm that he needs a posterboard for his school project that is due the next day and it is worth 1/3 of his grade. But when his son vandalizes a store with an Asian owner to get in with the "cool" crowd Adam loses his shit. He might even be madder than the store owner. His son thinks he is kidding about the consequences- Adam is a cop surely, he can get him out of trouble. Adam makes him stay 24 hours in holding, then has to apologize to the store owner. The owner doesn't press charges. He has to clean up his mess and the rest of the store and work to pay off any damages- even those caused by his "friends", and he is grounded indefinitely. His son learns the lesson the hard way, but it sticks with the added bonus of falling for the storekeeper's daughter.
Antonio Dawson: I cheated with this one because he actually has a son and a daughter. So instead of picking I'm doing a paragraph for each.
Antonio is from a large tight knit family for better or for worse. That means for the first few months his fighting to be the one that gets to hold his little girl. He practically has to steal her from his mom, Gabby, and all the other female relatives. The only thing that is to his advantage is that his little girl loves him. Whenever she sees him she is always saying and reaching for daddy. She is a beautiful, happy baby with dark curls and brown eyes. Antonio buys a new gun and then another, and then another. He figures he will need them all by the time she finally finds someone worthy of her to settle down with.
Antonio raises his son with the expectation that someday he will be the man of the house. He wants his son to know responsibility and how to take care of himself and other. To stick up not only for himself but for others that can't. He teaches his son to be aware (but not fearful) of his surroundings. Antonio's son takes all of it to heart. When Antonio gets a call that his son had laid out a bully for teasing a shy bookish girl. Antonio doesn't scold his son whose suspension ends up being more of a vacation. He just asks if he put his weight behind it and pats his son on the shoulder when he said he had. When the shy girl starts coming over to help his son with his homework almost every day, he isn't surprised to walk in on them making out on his couch. He is, however, surprised when his son brings her to his boxing gym to show off and that shy little girl throws one hell of a punch.
Greg "Mouse" Gerwitz: Girl Dad! (I added this one)
When he finds out that you are pregnant Mouse is afraid when he finds out that the baby is a girl, he is terrified. His daughter is so small and fragile. When she is placed gently in his arms his world changes. He has spent enough time at war to know that it is always the woman and girls that are at most risk. How could he possibly protect her from everything when there were so many bad people in the word. Mouse dotes on his little girl but keeps her close. He has worries that civil fathers don't. When she becomes weary of other people and children at age two clinging to his leg he wonders if it was his fear that was passed onto her. Even when people assure him that it was the typical age for stranger danger. Mouse painstakingly (and with Jay's help) starts to change his behavior. He doesn't want his little girl to have the anxiety and hypervigilance that he has to deal with. As Mouse eases up he watches his little girl's personality bloom.
She gets downright spunky. She is curious too. She learns technology with a swift ease. She spends a good deal of time on her daddy's lap and the clicking of a keyboard is relaxing. Mouse had found that it could help put her to sleep even on her crankiest days. He doesn't scold her when she starts taking things apart to put them back together. And while he does help and assist, he swears his daughter picks up most of her coding knowledge from just watching him. As she gets older he starts hacking her computer and phone to leave her cute little messages. When she is a teenager, she finally manages to hack his highly secured system back (She had the advantage of him being the one who taught her) When she goes to Tech school she is leaps and bond ahead of her classmates. Nobody is surprised when she ends up on government watch list and is soon offered a job. They want her on their side.
Matt Casey: Boy Dad!
Matt's son is his little buddy. Matt has wanted a baby for so many years that he is ecstatic when last little bundle is put in his arms. He does everything he can with his son and his son wants to do everything he does. He is his son's idol. He always wants to be at the fire house. He dresses up as a firefighter for Halloween for five years straight as kid.
Matt tries unsuccessful to keep his sons interested broad. He wants his son to at least consider other options, maybe going to college. His son is hellbent on going on being a firefighter. And Matt stops pushing after he threatens to go to the police academy instead. His son excel at during his training and Matt is so proud when his son graduates the academy.
Kelly Severide: Boy Dad!
Kelly's son is a mini version of him. Full of energy, testosterone, and charm. Kelly raises him with good manners, treat woman right, and to be respectful of authority. He also teaches him to question and act when the authority isn't doing their job, or something doesn't make sense of needs to be changed. Kelly's son is popular and plays football. Kelly goes to every game, and he know his son has a real chance at football scholarship but knows he is does not want to further his education and that he wants to follow in Kelly's footsteps to be a firefighter.
Kelly's son is a player. He goes through the girls in his high school (and multiple others). Kelly doesn't say anything- how could he when he had his own Casanova phase that took up a large portion of his life. His son should have fun as long as he is using protection. His son never brings any of them home for him to meet. None can seem to hold his son fickle attention. When his phone rings at midnight he expects a slurred request for a pickup not a fully sobered "I found her."
Jeff Clarke: Girl Dad!
Jeff's daughter is his princess. She is a tenderhearted happy little girl. He calls her the light of his life. They live in Hawaii, so everything is a slower pace. Jeff gets to enjoy the time with his daughter with nothing to rush him. They spend hours in the sun and on the beach playing in the sandy and splashing in the waves.
When his daughter is five, she demands to learn how to surf after a friend takes her out on their board. Jeff thinks it might be a phase- her just wanted to do it because she sees it every day. It becomes apparent very quickly that isn't the case. His little girl loves the ocean and asks him to go nearly every day. Jeff does one better than just taking her and learns how to surf too so they can do it together. He isn't great and she is much better, but she loves going out with him. He just loves seeing her so happy and at peace. It doesn't hurt that it he can keep an eye on the surfer boys that get more and more interested in her as she not only gets older but better on her board.
Brain "Otis" Zvonecek: Boy Dad!
Otis is a nerdy dad. He is the dad that does the Starter Pokémon test when he started to crawl (Charmander) and pick his Hogwarts house (Hufflepuff). Otis starts him young on all the classic movies and shows. Otis buys Legos for the two of them to build together (way before his old enough to really help. Otis reads to his on every night that he gets to put him to sleep. They start with short stories but as he gets older, they quickly switch to chapter books and Manga.
Otis doesn't know what to do when his son starts having trouble in school. When he is told that his son has a learning disability, he doesn't know what to do. Otis never had a hard time with academics he blew through his classes without much effort. He can see the absolute frustration in his sons face when he is struggling to read. Otis tries to help but his son, but it only seems to create more friction making the problem even bigger. The break though comes when Otis finds out his son's anger is a cover for his embarrassment and feeling like a disappointment. When his son accuses him of thinking he is stupid Otis' heart shatters. His eyes are water when he tells his son that he is one of the smartest people he knows- he just learns different his son breaks down and hugs him tightly.

Jay Halstead- Work Husband Pt1
I walk into the break room to grab myself a coffee. Jay, my partner is already in there making two drinks
"Good morning" I greet him
"Morning" he hands me a cup after he pours the hot water in
"Thanks" I give him a smile
"Your very welcome. Actually I erm wanted to speak to you"
"What's up?" I ask frowning but before Jay can talk to me Adam pops his head in to the break room letting us know that Voight wanted to speak to us. He asks me and Jay to talk to a source to find out some information about our perp.
Jay and I get in the car, me behind the steering wheel. At first it's quiet. Then jay breaks the silence
"I think it's time we can be honest with each other. Wouldn't you agree?" This makes me feel a little nervous, but I try to hide it
"Depends"
"Ok I'm just going to say it"
"Go on then"
"You driving all the time? I'm not down with that"
"Tough. I drive"
"I've been on the job longer" I see Jay now looking at me through my peripheral vision. I glance at him before looking back at the road
"Well I've been in this unit longer"
"Ok honestly? I feel like a house husband" I chuckle at this then put on a straight face and glance at Jay
"I'd say sorry..." I stop the car and take my belt off and now give Jay my full attention "but I was told not to lie. Now let's go" I open up my door and both Jay and I start to walk to the shop when a guy whistles at me
"Shake it baby" I raise a brow at him then shake my head
"Jay" I nod my head towards the shop
"Watch yourself" Jay warns
"Yes sir officer sir" the guy says back to
"Does that ever catch girls attention?"
"Jay it's fine. Leave it" I open up the door to the shop "hi Chicago PD we would like to ask you a few questions" I say showing my badge
"Sure"
"A pay-as-you-go phone was purchased from your store in the last 24 hours" Jay starts as I take out the phone number from my pocket
"We're looking for who bought it"
"Yeah, a Juan Garcia. Yesterday. Paid cash"
"Any other information you can provide us?" I ask
"No, we're not responsible for background checks"
"True, but it is a fairly common name. You know, there's not a lot we can do with that" I give the store clerk a sweet smile
"You don't tell me how to do my job. I don't tell you how to do yours" the guy hands the number back to me as I continue to smile
"You're Glen Pearson, right? The owner of this place?"
"That's right"
"You know, it looks like there's a Glen Pearson with deceptive practice and fraud charge"
"Huh" I cross my arms looking at Jay
"Yeah for selling stolen merchandise
out of Gary, Indiana" Jay shows me a fake police report made to just scare the guy "That's a 25,000 dollar expeditable must-hold warrant"
"Hmm. What do you think Halstead? Height, weight match. Eye color, too"
"Yeah" he nods his head "hey I've got an idea. Why don't we throw some bracelets on him, we'll take him down to the station, run his prints, and then we can be sure" Jay gives me a little nudge
"I got a nanny cam up here. I can pull some footage. Get a picture of the guy who did it.
It's best I can do"
"Oh that's great" Jay and I both smile "oh and I'll have some gum"
We leave the store after getting a photo. I place a piece of gum in my mouth
"I knew that would work"
"Now we just gotta figure out who this idiot is" I pass the photo over to Jay as the same guy we passed earlier throws a bottle
"Why don't you bring that ass over to place sometime girl. I'll let you in"
"Hey" I say to Jay who looks pissed "it's fine. Let's go" Jay takes off his holster and badge, handing them over to me "ok. Yeah" I nod my head. Jay and the guy have a little tiff earning an eye roll from me "oh my hero" I give Jay his things back "and by the way I'm still driving" I run over to the drivers side of the car before driving us back to the precinct to talk over what we have found out.

Revati knew, as she walked back to Baker Street, that once again she was on the edge of things.
Revati could barely remember the first edge she encountered, four years old and holding a balloon while drones flew above.
The second edge, seeing her father’s twitching hand under the rubble.
And now, Amma standing in the doorway with Dusk.
Her arms were folded, and she glared when she realized Camilo was with them.
"Hello, Camilo," Amma remarked.
"Sugafanna! I haven’t seen you since…" he began.
"Jay’s last birthday; you drank too much of your honeymede and threw up on the walls," Amma pointed out.
"Ah, yes," Camilo blushed with embarrassment.
"And I suppose you’re here to help Revati with this insanity?" Sugafana asked coldly.
"Is saving the ones we love really that insane?" Camilo asked Sugafana, who sighed, rolling her eyes.
"I’m going to the station now, Amma; where’s Nanni?" Revati asked.
"I’m right here, Dimpy," Nanni said from behind mother.
"Don’t die while I’m gone; you’ve lasted eighty years. You can last a little longer," Revati said firmly.
Nanni pulled her down, kissing her forehead, and then draped something around Revati’s neck.
It was her precious Kasithaali, a gold chain dotted with gold and coral beads.
In the center of the chain, there was a tiny golden idol, its features finely carved.
The Kasithaali was ancient, trailing far back to the first Sheik born on Mars.
The coral beads had been picked from a long-ago dead and abandoned Earth.
"Nanni, you know I can’t take this! Raiders will try to steal it," Revati pointed out.
"Hide it down the front of your clothes! You will need Lakshmi’s protection," Nanni said firmly.
"You will also need this," Amma replied, sliding off one of her bangles.
"Why are you both giving me wedding jewelry? I’m going on a rescue mission; I’m not getting married," Revati asked as Amma slid the bangle onto Revati’s wrist.
Amma tapped the bracelet four times, and it suddenly glowed a faint purple.
"DNA approved user confirmed, current balance nine thousand six hundred and eighty-three credits," the bracelet chimed.
"It’s not a bracelet; it’s my portable bank account! You’re not going to go out into the world with no funds," Amma said as Revati stared at the glowing numbers.
"Is this a lot of money?" She asked curiously.
"It’s enough. Now here’s everything else you asked for... including your sister's hairbrush," Amma asked, handing Revati a bag, and Revati nodded.
"Good, well, I best be off then," Revati said, and Amma nodded.
Revati realized it was probably time to say something else.
"I love you both," she added before reaching forward to embrace Amma.
Revati firmly believed in only hugging on her terms.
Still, Amma deserved it.
It took a moment to realize that Brigadeiro Bun was politely following her and Camilo.
"Why are you trailing behind me?" Revati had to ask.
"He's following you as well, as well as what I suspect is the android wearing a cloak," Brigadeiro pointed out.
"I need Camilo to help me at the train station," Revati replied as they reached the maze's entrance.
"I’m pretty sure I can turn the train on for one ride; I salvaged a power cell from the dragon," Camilo explained.
"Well, I’m following you because you’ll need my tent if you want to survive the elements," Brigadeiro replied.
"You got your tent back, then?" Revati asked as they entered the maze.
In the distance, Revati could hear someone giggle among the leaves.
"Yes, Isabeau found it in the lost property pile," Brigadeiro replied.
"And you’re going to give me your tent?" Revati asked.
"I’m going to share it with you; it’s a two-person tent! My ex and I were supposed to travel together, but we broke up," Brigadeiro said with a small shrug.
"You don’t seem that upset about it," Revati pointed out as they turned a corner.
The giggling was coming from two small children in medical dress fighting with sticks.
"I was; then I went out to find diamond roses for her, and everything else happened," Brigadeiro admitted.
"So you’re going to travel with me for an indefinite amount of time? Finding my sister plus take weeks or months," Revati said as they turned right.
"Or years; when appliances want to hide things, they stay hidden," Camilo pointed out.
"Well, I’ll stay with you until we reach a public teleportation station; then you can keep the tent," Brigadeiro said, and Revati shrugged.
"Fine, that’s a fair exchange for saving your life twice," she admitted.
The maze suddenly opened up onto the grand entrance of Olde Landon.
The ticket booths, in the shape of castle turrets, had long ago been abandoned.
The giant Elizabeth Twin statue was covered in gently glowing fungus.
Revati stared at them briefly.
One of the queens was in a grand solid carved ballgown.
The other in a neat suit and hat.
Both of them had lizard faces.
"We have the exact same statue on the South West Sydney Space station; apparently, the lizard faces allowed the queens to live for centuries," Brigadeiro remarked.
"That was just a myth; come on this way," Camilo replied.
The park bullet train ran from the park to Leeryasoar, the country's capital. Years ago, the station teemed with tourists. Feet would pound over the shiny tiles, the exact same gold and purple as the domed train. Creatrix vending machines were constantly humming next to the benches. Revati remembered Amma punching in several numbers to get Dityaa a bottle of mango lassi. There had been a stand in the center of the platform selling park maps and plastic magic wands. Pink and red roses grew in orderly bushes. Holographic signs floated on the walls, stating that all data cloud technology would stop working inside the park. Revati had dim memories of her father checking the news on his communications bracelet before they went inside. The signs had long ago been smashed to pieces and were now nothing more than broken screens. The Creatrix vending machines had been looted and were now filled with spiders. The roses all grew in wild tangles flowing over the garden beds.
"Wow; these roses have gone feral! They're singing about how much they wish they could prick people with their thorns," Brigadeiro remarked as Camilo approached the abandoned purple shuttle train with his tool belt.
"Are we far enough away from the wall?" Revati asked.
"We should be! All the vending machines were, so they led the attack during the invasion! The only thing that stopped them was the station's power supply getting cut off," Camilo said, gesturing about. Camilo was right; the station was dim and depressing under the grey Martian sunlight. Revati nodded and whisked the cloak off the figure. The maternity droid stared back at her. Camilo had taken the time to repaint its face. Its lips were a deep scarlet, its eyes bright cheerful green. Camilo had also replaced its broken legs with bulky steel ones he had spray-painted blue with cheerful flowers painted down the side. The belly door had been reattached and was now filled with a healthy white light.
"Hello, I am your custom-built Materno 4000 Deluxe prenatal droid! Would you like to grow a new baby or link to your pre-existing infant?" The android chirped in a flat metallic voice.
"Pre-existing infant," Revati said, and the Android's eyes fluttered.
"Your pre-existing infant is 218 months old, is this correct?" The android asked.
"Correct," Revati said, and the android blinked again.
"Your pre-existing infant is currently out of detection range; would you like to create a new infant?" The android asked.
"No! I want to talk to the lady who was using you as a microphone before," Revati said.
"You have to tell it to open maternal communication! I turned the channel off," Camilo said from where he had managed to open the front panel of the train.
"Open maternal communication!" Brigadeiro said eagerly.
The android's eyes fluttered shut once again. There was nothing.
"I don't think we're far enough away from the wall," Revati sighed.
But then the humming began. A faint, child-like humming came from behind the Android's lips.
"Whispers in the motherboard, a haunting tune,
A phantom dancing in the light of a digital moon," Brigadeiro sang along, and Revati shot him a confused look.
"It's humming Circuit whispers! From the hit musical 'The Android of Music,'" Brigadeiro explained.
"I've never heard of it," Revati confessed.
"You've never heard of 'The Android of Music'? Praise group! Once you've rescued your sister, I'll have to take you! Everyone needs to hear 'The Android of Music,'" Brigadeiro said firmly. Before Revati had a chance to reply, the android's eyes snapped open again.
"Thank Krishna! Finally, a decent signal; it's been eighteen years," the android exclaimed in an incredibly annoyed upper-class woman's voice. The Android reached clumsily toward Revati, snatching her bag. Then it reached inside, pulling out Dityaa's hairbrush. The belly door swung open, and the Android shoved the hairbrush inside.
"Did it just do what I think it just did?" Brigadeiro grimaced.
"How else do you expect me to trace my daughter's DNA?" The Android asked, and then her belly glowed green.
"Right, the last recording of her DNA imprint was in New Singapore six hours ago! Let's go find my baby," the android said firmly and cheered as the train burst back into life.

Her father's daughter
Warnings: Kidnapping, crying, canon-typical injuries, blood
Summary: When all is well, someone just has to barge in and ruin Will and Faith's lives.
A/N: Soo, I am back more than a month later. I didn't mean to disappear for so long... It will happen again i am sorry. This Ramadan has come with more work and I have exams in two weeks that i refuse to fail. I will most likely return at the end of april/beginning of May.
i've been thinking about writing this for a while because of how much I love Faith but I didn't want to hurt her but then I thought, no one can turn down some good old angst. Sorry again for being mia for nearly another month but randomly wrote this all in one sitting after doing some psychology and having an existential crisis soooo. This is going to be a little longer than usual, happy reading!!
Will was at work when it happened.
He was getting ready to assist Connor in a surgery when he got a call as they were scrubbing in.
The part-time nanny he hired was now basically considered family over the two years she'd been looking after Faith whenever she wasn't in school and Will was at work. So to have her calling him at work was odd but when he answered her call and was immediately met with tears and gasping and hyperventilating, Will felt his heart stop.
Will wasted no time. simply telling her he was on his way before hanging up.
Connor, without hesitation, encouraged Will to leave, saying he'd find Goodwin and tell her himself.
As soon as Will was in his car, the first person he called was a no brainer.
Whenever Will called, Jay would always come running, day or night for his older brother and niece, consequences be damned.
Will found himself struggling when Jay answered, grappling for words he couldn't muster.
"What's wrong Will?"
"Faith's gone Jay... Someone's taken her."
*****
The brothers met up at Faith's school, Will arriving before Jay.
The second Will got there, Allison, the nanny, found him instantly. She ran up to him in tears, hysterically crying as if it was her own child that was taken.
"Will I'm so sorry." She gasped, on the edge of a panic attack, eyes impossibly red as she hyperventilated, tears showing no sign of stopping any time soon.
"They- Reception said a woman picked her up in Maggie's name three hours ago-" She cut herself off with a sob. Poor women was a mess, seeing her so distraught made Will want to cry along with her.
"Allison, please listen." Will said sternly, holding her shoulder so she would pay attention to him. "None of this is your fault, okay? If it wasn't for you, it would've been another two hours before someone found out."
She exhaled shakily, nodding fervently when Will pressed her to stop apologising and accept she was at no fault, there was no reason for her to take any blame.
Before either could say anything more, the sound of sirens scared them, making both of them jump at the sudden loud sound.
At the sight of familiar cars, Will wasn't too sure if he felt relief or impending doom.
"Intelligence Will need to take a statement but after that you can go home." Will told Allison, squeezing her bicep with a timid smile for reassurance.
"As soon as they find Faith, you'll be the first to know, I promise."
*****
Jay was struggling to concentrate on the CCTV footage him and Adam were meant to be watching.
He could say with 100 percent confidence the he never thought he'd find himself in such a situation.
intelligence have been involved with numerous kidnappings. So many in fact that it was usually what they would be expecting to be called in for every day.
But, this was his niece's kidnapping. This wasn't the norm for him let alone the rest of them. A five year olds kidnapping was something they'd never want to deal with, especially someone who was family.
"Here it is." Adam said, clicking the mouse a few more times before settling on a frame, the scene being the reception of Faith's school.
Shaking any deprecating thoughts away, Jay pushed his chair forward, looking closely and minimising his blinks as to not miss a single second of valuable footage. Footage that would show the final moments of Faith being alive and safe.
The halls were empty for the most of it, bar the occasional janitor or teacher walking by. Two minutes passed when a woman in a black trench coat walked up to the desk. Her brown hair obscuring her face from the camera's view along with the thick scarf wrapped around her neck.
She spoke to the receptionist, signing a sheet of paper before a lady walked away, soon returning with a small familiar bundle.
Faith was in her little purple puffer jacket, bobble hat covering her ears and mitten on her little hands. She wore little winter boots, her my little pony backpack sat nicely on her shoulders and Will's old scarf held in her hands. Unconsciously, Jay thought about how she always complained about the itchiness of the scarf that Will would always wrap around her masterfully, his method luring out the most wonderful sound to mankind; Faith's laughter.
Faith looked perfect, just like her fathers carbon copy and even from the shitty camera footage, Jay could see the pep in her step and the twinkle that never extinguished from her eyes.
Jay's thoughts trailed back to earlier this morning when he was still fast asleep in bed but his brother had messaged him, sending him a picture of Faith in all her adorableness. Nothing had changed from that picture and it warmed his heart slightly.
Usually, whoever picked her up was met with the biggest hello, the widest smile and incessant talking and she retold the adventures of her day but this time, Faith's steps faltered at the sight of the stranger.
Jay struggled to watch the rest.
*****
All Will could hear was his baby girls cries echoing in his ears.
He'd heard her cry plentiful, he raised her since birth for goodness sakes but this cry was different. It was like he could hear just how scared she was and it felt like a literal stab in the heart.
Will forced Allison home twenty minutes ago after Hailey took her statement and was told everything. She was still very torn and upset, she refused to leave Will for several reasons but before she started blaming herself again, Will forced her to leave, promising once again to call her later.
Jay had shown Will the footage of the woman who never showed her face, maybe there was some chance Will could recognise the back of her. Somehow, she knew the exact school Faith went to as well as knowing the list of very few people that were allowed to pick her up. The list consisted of Will obviously, Jay, Allison and Maggie.
Somehow, whoever this person was, they knew who was on the emergency contact list, information that only the school and said people were privy to.
That small bit of information made Will want to be sick.
They had tried other means to try identify the woman but they were coming up with nothing. Another hour had passed, now being give hours since Faith had been taken and Will was slowly losing the plot.
"I've contacted a bunch on my CI's." Jay said, face set in stone as he finished presenting. "Still waiting to hear back."
"I have several CI's in that area." Antonio added, Kevin nodding to also confirm. "Waiting for a call any time now."
Voight hummed, giving no indication of what he was thinking or feeling. But not too long ago, he had taken Will aside and promised they would bring Faith back to him, no matter the cost.
No matter the cost. Ethically, Will wasn't too sure what to feel but emotionally, he felt relieved.
Will must've zoned out for a bit because the next thing he knew, only him, Jay and Antonio remained in the bullpen. Everyone else seemingly disappeared.
Wow, he really needed to fix up.
"Hey, how are you-"
Just as Jay opened his mouth, he was cut off by a phone ringing.
*****
Jay wasn't allowed to accompany Antonio to his CI, instead taking Kevin with him. The Latino was never once persuaded by Jay, even when he promised to stay in the car.
The sun was now starting to set and there was a clear shift in the atmosphere as the sky grew darker. To ease broth his own and his brothers fears, Jay sat with Will, sitting together in a silence neither could stand.
This was an uncommon occurrence since Will had returned from New York, the two brothers being alone together. Since coming back, it had always been the three of them. So to be in this moment, both Halstead's would rather die than to have to repeat this again.
"You want a coffee?" Jay asked, eyeing up the half empty coffee pot. At the rate this investigation was going, they'd be needing more than just coffee to help them stay up.
"Sure." Will hadn't meant for his answers to be monosyllabic, Jay had done nothing but right now, he had not much left in him to continue being so forth coming.
The silence enveloping their space, Will usually relished in any moments of silence he could get but this was just uncomfortable. Never did he ever want his little girl to be causing such a ruckus.
"Maggie called me back." Will said, watching Jays' back, following his actions as he made both their coffee's. "She doesn't recognise the woman nor has she told anyone outside the ED's staff about Faith - that's all people I know and none of them know that woman."
Jay hummed as he stirred the tiniest bit of sugar when his tasted a little too bitter for his liking. "That's good but it does mean we have even less of an idea as to who this is."
Will didn't reply, only mumbling a small thanks as he took the mug from Jay's outstretched hand and sipping the lukewarm drink.
"Have you butted heads with anyone at work recently?" Jay asked, knowing his brothers stubbornness very well.
"No." Will rolled his eyes. "I've been under Goodwin's strong scrutiny after the last stunt. Go ask anyone, I've been good."
And for a second, nothing felt as heavy but such a feeling didn't last.
"Antonio and Kevin are back." Trudy suddenly appeared in the doorway of the breakroom causing both of them to flinch. "Go see them downstairs."
*****
"My CI works in a restaurant. When I reached out, his story matched up with ours." Antonio started, standing tall besides the computer screen where Kevin was trying to connect it to the USB they were given.
"At the same time Will called us, a different woman came and ordered a takeaway with a kid he said looks a lot like Faith."
Will felt his heart rate picking up the more Antonio spoke. Hearing all of this felt like a fever dream, he didn't want to get his hopes up just in case they reached another dead end.
The camera footage started to play, Kevin skipping it when nothing was happening, only to abruptly replay it when someone walked in.
All they could see was the back of the woman, her black hair in a braid, scarf wrapped around her neck with a long jacket on. As Will's eyes studied the stranger, he followed her outstretched arm to-
Faith
Will's breath hitched at the sight of his little girl who hadn't seen since the early hours of the morning when he dropped her off to school. He held his breath, watching closely to see if a single hair was misplaced on her body or to try and see what she was feeling from either her scrunched up eyebrows or her quivering lips.
But he couldn't see anything.
The woman went to the counter, ordered her food and stood there for however long it took for the food to be made. Only when she was handed a carrier bag with several containers did she finally turn around and show her face.
Will's face paled in recognition instantly.
"What's wrong Will?" Jay noticed his change immediately, his question causing everyone in the room to turn and look at him. "Do you recognise her?"
Will swallowed harshly, blinking repeatedly to bring himself out of shock.
"Yeah, it's Faith's mum."
*****
With this newfound information, it didn't take Intelligence long to track her down.
Stephanie Brooks, 'Steph' was what she insisted everyone call her. For just over a year, she was Will's girlfriend and as of five years ago, she was Faiths absent mother.
Ever since that night five years ago, Will never thought he'd see his ex again but here he was, sitting in the back of his brothers truck as he waited for Intelligence to get his daughter back.
Once they had her name, they found the car she had under her name in Chicago and the place she was renting out as of three months ago. Three months of which she had been watching them under a microscope.
Will actually had to go be sick in the toilet when Kim turned around with all of Stephanie's activities since she arrived in Chicago, all of which suspiciously looked very familiar and aligned with everything he and Faith did recently.
That aside, all Will had to do now was wait.
Jay and Kevin stood in front, Kevin ready to kick the door down before Jay could go in first. All they were waiting for was for Voight's signal.
"Now!"
Within seconds, they were all entering the bungalow, guns out and pointed in any direction, covering all corners as they searched for Stephanie.
"Clear!"
"Clear!"
They all went separate directions, covering every room in search of any life and soon enough, they found their culprit.
She screamed.
"Stephanie Brooks, your under arrest..." Adam went on, reciting the words they all had memorised for years now, his gun lowered slightly as Antonio went forward to handcuff her.
"What, no! You're crazy!" She shouted, struggling against Antonio's grip. Despite the cheap bungalow she rented, she was dressed as if ready for a night out. Her hair was curled, makeup perfect, heels and a tight fitted dress on.
"Kidnapping?" She scoffed, continuing to struggle as she was forced onto her feet. "She's my child, my daughter!"
"You can't take her from me." She told them, getting more riled up when she saw Adam rolling his eyes at her. "I want my lawyer, you have no right to take my daughter from me."
On the other side of the bungalow, Jay heard nothing but thundering in his ears as he frantically looked up and down for his niece. Nearly every room had been covered and they hadn't found her yet-
Jay felt his heart break the second Faith was in his sight.
He found her stuffed in the bathtub shivering. He had to kick down the door, finding her with zip ties around her wrists and ankles, sat in the bathtub with on her knickers and vest on.
Faith started crying.
Without another thought, Jay dropped his gun and rushed forward, kneeling at the edge of the bathtub before picking her up and dropping her into his lap.
"Oh Faith." Jay sighed, wrapping his arms around her as she curled into him. "It's okay, your safe, Jay Jay's got you now."
As sobs racked her little body, Jay took out his knife and carefully cut the zip ties off. As soon as the were chucked to the side, she wrapped her arms as far as they could around his torso.
Standing up, Jay took strides out the bathroom and made his way outside. Hailey found him on the way, taking her scarf off with Kim not too far behind taking her jacket off.
Both garments swaddled Faith, protecting her bare limbs from the torturous snow but she continued to shiver.
Jay felt himself breathing easier with her in his arms but Will was firmly on his mind.
Only a metre away from the premises did Jay find Will who was already bounding towards them.
"Faith, look." Jay gently poked her, watching her carefully pick her head up and turn in the direction Jay was pointing.
The cry she let out, it would forever haunt him.
"Faith."
Jay handed her over to his older brother who's arms encased her small body. Will dipped his face in her hair, inhaling the comforting smell that he never wanted to forget.
"Oh baby. It's okay, it's okay." Will repeated as she sobbed, showing no signs of stopping any time soon. "Daddy's got you."
Will pressed several kisses wherever he could: in her hair, her forehead, her ear poking out from her curls, her cheek anywhere. His arms tightened in their embrace and if it wasn't for Jay who was supporting him, he would fallen into the snow as soon as he lost all feeling in his legs.
Will could barely hear his own thoughts over Faith's gut wrenching cries. Somehow, her tears weren't running dry. To see her in such a state but to have her back and safe with him, Will finally let his emotions get the better of him.
He sniffled, hiding his face in her wild curls he always struggled to tame, his tears dropping like rain but his cries were muffled. Screwing his eyes shut, he tried to even out his breathing, Jay's hand on his back comfortingly rubbing circles kept him somewhat sane.
"We're driving to Med." Jay told him, directing the father-daughter duo towards his truck.
Sitting in the back, the outside world no longer existed, his entire universe was sat in his lap. Will had lost track of time, she had been continuously crying but Faith was silent now as she was knocked out, crying herself to sleep, that's how tired she was. All he could hear was the occasional soft snore, but he could feel everything from her rising chest against his own, her curls that needed to be brushed, her skin that was slowly warming up from both his own body heat and the garments wrapped around her and the tears that were drying on his shirt.
Will felt like he could finally start to relax.
*****
Faith remained in Will's arms at Med, even when he woke her up, neither of them made any move of letting go.
As soon as they got to the hospital, Will was surrounded by all his colleagues, all riddled with stress that was slowly disappearing when they saw Faith.
Currently, Natalie was doing the standard tests, letting Will do all the convincing which wasn't a lot. As soon as he asked, Faith complied.
"I'll go grab some heating blankets." Natalie said, stepping back as she finished off. "I'll make sure to put a rush on these."
"Thanks Nat." Will said, letting Faith curl back into his embrace.
"It's no problem." She smiled, her eyes looking down at the little girl, the sight of father and daughter making her think of Owen. "We're all just glad she's safe and mostly unharmed."
Will tried not to think of the scrapes and clotting up scabs that littered her body. He hadn't seen any of them till they got to Med, his chest restricting to know she had been hurt and he wasn't there to relieve her of the pain.
"Thank Ethan for me." Will added when Natalie was about to leave. "Faith loves the my little pony band aids."
And with that, they were left alone for the first time surrounded by the muffled sounds of the bustling department and the occasional beeps of machinery and the faint drips of the iv.
Despite being a doctor for years, Will found it difficult to see the iv needle in Faith. To have two worlds collide, Will would never wish this upon any parent.
Small pokes to his collarbone caught his attention, Faith poking it ever so gently as she stared up at him imploringly with the widest eyes that still glistened, their colour identical to the woman who was going behind bars.
"Missed you." She whispered, voice breaking towards the end. It was the first time she had spoken since she found her and the two words made his eyes water.
"I missed you too. Missed you so much baby." Will replied, tucking her hair behind her ears so he could see her whole face. "I'm so sorry baby. Daddy loves you so much."
A smile appeared on her cherry lips, her dimples not too far behind. Seeing them made it feel like nothing was wrong with the world and only the two of them mattered.
"Home?" She asked, her voice filled with so much innocence and hope that Will has to give himself some time before replying.
"Not yet, I'm sorry bubbles." He apologised, rubbing circles into her back. "Jay Jay still needs to come back and Maggie needs to bring you some medicine. She might even ask you to sleepover."
For once, Will was glad she was so eager to stay at his workplace. She had such wonderment surrounding his job, the thought of sleeping over at his work was almost a dream come true.
To finally see her mood pick up, her eyes glistening now with newfound happiness at the prospect of a sleepover, unaware of the connotations it had, Will allowed himself to feel good.
For now, all that mattered was that his daughter was rightfully back with her father and surrounded by family that would do anything for her.
