WATCH MS. PAC-MAN DANCE
WATCH MS. PAC-MAN DANCE
#this is from the instruction manual for Namco Museum vol. 3#got it today with a bunch of 360 games while i was yard sale shopping today#im honestly surprised to have found a house that was selling games. usually i figure folks would just sell them online for good money#but no each game ranged from 3-6 dollars#so i got: Dead Island 1. Mirrors Edge. Borderlands 1. and Namco Museum.#i also got Banjo Nuts & Bolts elsewhere. i had it a long time ago but i think i gave it away/sold it#so now i can see how far i got into the game now that i have another copy#that yard sale w/ the 4 games i got. they also had borderlands 2. some COD games. halo 3. and kinect adventures#they did have some PS2 games. only two worth mentioning is an eyetoy game. and Kingdom Hearts 2#i'm always on the lookout for PS2 games but. i didnt grab KH2. theres a lot of pretty dudes in that game (from org 13) but im not a KH-head#though theres always a part of me that regrets not buying literally everything#but given that those 4 games costed me 15 dollars..... listen thats a good deal but i didnt have a lot of money on me#or not a lot i could risk spending all in one place#anyway. im playing dead island atm :) i picked sam b

Growing up playing namco museum vol 3 on my ps1, I've always wanted to collect them all. Especially after finding out they spell out namco once placed side by side in release order. Fortunately I managed to collect them all a few years ago. Vol 1 even came with this little advert, interestingly enough having a different game listed in vol 5 than compared to the actual release. Sadly I don't own the Japan only encore vol with the registration symbol. Maybe one day but for now I'm happy with this set.

Here’s an obscure one for ya’ll. Even moreso then PAC and Pal.
Released sometime around 1983, Phozon never released outside of Japan until Namco Museam Vol 3 on the OG PlayStation. It would be later re-released as apart of the Arcade Archives series.
Info on what this game’s physical hardware are next to non-existent with very sparse documentation coming from few sources and Namco museum itself. An exception exists as Gaplus/Galaga 3 runs on the same hardware as Phozon, which did get an international release.
The original ROM is readily available and can even be played online through the Internet Archive and I’ve seen rumors/recounts that there was a possible Italian version of Phozon out there (Not sure if it’s a simple ROM hack or if there was ever a physical bootleg released into the wild at some point).
Call this a sort of call to action but I really wish someone would document more on this game.
English arcade flyers of:
Phozon / フォゾン
Art by Namco (Artist, name unknown)
Follow Randomised Gaming on Tumblr, for video game, art, reviews, features and more.
The strange thing here is according to every source RG can find Phozon did not get an English arcade release.

Happy twenty-fifth anniversary to the third installment of Namco's arcade archives, Namco Museum Vol. 3! This game (Tied with Mega Man 10 and Mega Man 11) is my favorite video game ever, and from it being a game I played a lot of during my earlier years, is largely the sole reason why I have such a deep fascination with all things arcade games! The Namco Museum series, which debuted on the PlayStation, took classic arcade games of Namco's creation and made them accessible for play right in the comfort of your living room! Five installments were released on the PlayStation (Including a Japan-Only sequel 'Namco Museum Encore'), and each volume has games that everyone knows and loves, and even a few that are lesser known. I find that Namco Museum Vol. 3 pulls the balance of 'arcade classics' and 'classics lot to time' quite nicely; you've got games you recognize like Ms. Pac-Man and Dig Dug, though there are also some games that aren't quite as well known (Especially to the western audience) like Phozon and The Tower of Druaga. It makes for such a great collection of games! And there's only one way I like to show my appreciation for something in time for its anniversary...
It's easier to notice in some wallpapers more than others (I find it's the most obvious in the Phozon wallpaper), but I've attempted to replicate the style of an old CRT screen for each game's wallpaper, so it looks like each picture was taken right from each game's respective arcade cabinet. I've still got a little ways to go until I master the effect, but it really makes the game-specific wallpapers stand out! Hopefully one day we'll see a 'return to form' for the Namco Museum series, as the original pentalogy on the PlayStation, while a bit dated, still has the most charm out of every Namco Museum that followed suit (All of which are mere compilations instead of... well... museums of content). Here's to a timeless collection of timeless games!
#Namco Museum Vol. 3#Namco Museum#Namco#Ms. Pac-Man#Dig Dug#Galaxian#Pole Position 2#Phozon#The Tower of Druaga#Anniversary#Wallpapers#Coolness#What you're looking at is a game that definied my childhood#My copy of it sits prominently on my desk.#It's got everything from the manual to the little Tower of Druaga hint book#It even has a software registration card in the middle of the manual- you'd swear it's almost in mint condition!#I very nearly forgot about this one. Seven of the eight wallpapers in this post were made in the span of 45 minutes yesterday#I C R U N C H E D .#The last one I did this afternoon and I think it might be my favorite because it's essentially an extension of the original game's cover#I had a whole lot of fun with these and it definitely isn't the last time you'll see me replicating a CRT effect... hint hint
