When humans find a cure for namanaris;
Guren: But if I die during the operation, will you do one thing for me?
Shinya: Oh, anything sweetheart.
Guren: Blow up the hospital.
Shinya: Hm, well. I said I’d do it.
Shinya: So I guess I’ll have to.
Guren: That’s my boy.

KNY Trivia: On the Uroko (Scales) Motif
... and analysis
At this point, I think many people have already pointed out that the pattern on Zenitsu's haori is associated with female demons. I'm going to be talking about that again — among other things.
Tumblr media
The pattern on Zenitsu's haori is called uroko (scales) and is composed of a repeating motif of equilateral or isosceles triangles in alternating colors. This represents the scales of a snake, fish or dragon.
As Protective Talisman
The uroko motif is a very old and popular one, believed to have protective qualities and ward off evil and harm. It can be found on both kimono and obi, tomb walls, clay figurines, and the family crest and battle standard of the Hōjō clan (mitsu-uroko).
The protective qualities of the uroko motif made it a popular talisman among warriors, who wore jinbaori (military surcoats) with the pattern.
Zenitsu's cultivator, Kuwajima Jigorō, is revealed in a Taishō Secret to have given both of his disciples a haori with the same pattern as the one he wore himself — the uroko motif. While Zenitsu wore the haori (and then later Jigorō's kimono), Kaigaku never wore his.
Tumblr media
In the same way that Urokodaki gave each of his disciples a carved fox mask for protection, Kuwajima gave his disciples an uroko-patterned haori to protect them from harm.
By refusing to wear the haori, Kaigaku can be interpreted as having rejected his master's protection and blessing as well as having disowned the identity the haori — as a sort of "team uniform" — is attached to. Which symbolically leaves him defenseless, susceptible to the demons Kuwajima sought to protect him from when he gifted Kaigaku the haori. And indeed, Kaigaku has the misfortune of encountering Upper Moon One, of all demons.
As a Representation of Female Demons
In Noh and Kabuki theater, female demonic characters — such as kijo (female oni), onryō (vengeful ghosts) and snake yōkai disguised as human women especially — are often portrayed by actors wearing uroko-patterned costumes. Characters such as Lady Rokujō (Aoi no Ue), Kiyohime (Dōjōji), Momiji (Momijigari) and the onibaba (Kurozuka) are portrayed both on stage and in art as wearing the uroko motif.
Tumblr media
Kiyohime, by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (1890)
The duality of the uroko motif might be somewhat surprising — on the one hand representing protection from evil, on the other hand representing demonesses.
However, the association with demonesses makes sense in the context of Noh theater. Roles such as Lady Rokujō and Kiyohime are portrayed wearing hannya masks.
Tumblr media
The hannya mask belongs to a category of masks called ja (snake) masks. This category includes other masks associated with female demons such as the namanari and shinja masks.
While some characters portrayed with ja masks do become snakes (Kiyohime) or are snakes in disguise (the serpent in Genzai Shichimen), not all of them are. Many, if not most, of them are, however, associated with transformation. Whether it is a human woman transformed into a demoness by jealousy, resentment or anger (Lady Rokujō) or a demoness disguised as a human woman (Momiji). The transformative process calls to mind the image of a snake shedding its skin.
Wearing a pattern associated with demonesses, Zenitsu is immediately associated with Nezuko.
As for Kaigaku, while he is not a woman and he had never worn his haori, it still associates him with the transformation of demonesses in Noh theater. While his physical transformation is driven by fear and survival rather than resentment, one cannot discount that his resentment towards his master and Zenitsu did play a role in his later monstrous actions. Believing himself to be unfavored by his master and resenting him for it, Kaigaku is eager to earn Kokushibō's favor, believing that Kokushibō had "judged him correctly."
As Dragon Scales
It's not very obvious, but Zenitsu has a subtle dragon motif himself. Particularly, the dragon king. Or rather, the shogi piece bearing that name — ryūō.
When talking about her ideal man, Nezuko says she'd like to meet a man like a hisha. And she does.
Tumblr media
And while it's unclear what exactly Nezuko meant by this, the man she eventually marries does have a hisha-ryūō motif.
The hisha, as described in the extra, moves any number of steps orthogonally like the rook in chess. Upon reaching enemy territory (the last three ranks on the opposite side of the board), it is promoted to ryūō, which gains the additional ability to move one step diagonally.
This describes Zenitsu's character arc perfectly. During the final arcs, within enemy territory, Zenitsu is able to overcome his limitations and rise to the occasion. Thus metamorphosizing from hisha to ryūō.
And like the ryūō, he unveils a new form of Thunder Breathing within enemy territory. The motif is hammered home by the way Seventh Form: Honoikazuchi no Kami is visually represented: a dragon.
I've talked about the Seventh Form before, but I forgot to note that Honoikazuchi no kami is never described as a dragon. Rather, the dragon is potentially a reference to Ryūjin, the dragon king.
And Zenitsu's ties to the dragon king do not seem to stop with canon material. During Halloween 2022, Zenitsu is depicted as Urashima Tarō.
Tumblr media
Urashima Tarō and the princess of Hōrai, by Matsuki Heikichi (1899)
In the folktale, Urashima Tarō, after saving a small turtle from being tormented by some children, is spirited away to Ryūgū-jō, Ryūjin's palace beneath the sea. There, he falls in love with Otohime, the dragon-king's daughter.
(The tale is without a happy ending. But I do still recommend reading it if you haven't.)
Which leads me to believe that Zenitsu's haori, at least on one level, is meant to evoke the scales of the dragon king.

Note
imagine loving someone and wanting to marry and ending up with them who killed, KILLED, your father and friends😭😂
This ship is extra stupid however you look at it no matter what, the guremahi shippers better to stop defending it like mahiru did nothing wrong to guren and guren must close his eyes on all she did to him.
The best that can happen to them at the end is becoming normal friends but lover? Ending up marrying? Having children? Even mahiru would laugh at it honestly
hellow
First of all, I want to say that I am going to speak "objectively", from my personal analyses. I like Guren and I like Mahiru so I'll try not to be subjective!
Mahiru has done things wrong. Personally I do not say the opposite and I think that others are also aware of it. However, we must not forget that she was possessed and manipulated from the very beginning by the Hiiragi who themselves are manipulated by entities, but no one ever seems to say that these "entities" (Shikama Doji in particular) did wrong thing. While Mahiru takes a beating.
Kagami has already mentioned that all of his characters are morally gray. They all have a part of good and bad in them, whether Mahiru, Guren, Shinya, Mikaela, Yuichiro, Shinoa etc. And for actions described as wrong, we know the reasons. And it will depend on our personal opinions to consider whether these reasons are right or not.
Small reminder, when Mahiru killed Guren's friends, she was possessed (she's a namanari, we know that). That doesn't mean Guren wasn't hurt, obviously he was. It was his family. For Sakae, should I remind you that it was the Hiiragi who ordered Sakae to be executed if Guren failed to kill Mahiru? Guren couldn't, so the Hiiragi executed Sakae. Who caused Sakae's death? The Hiiragi. Moreover, Guren is not stupid, he does not turn a blind eye to these actions, he does not act demonic! Mahiru as he would normally act around Mahiru. But he knows that Mahiru was a namanari and that she was possessed at that time, he himself is a namanari so he knows that more than anyone. But has Guren forgiven Mahiru? The fact is we don't know.
The point you seem to forget is that Guren still blames himself for everything that happened and is happening. He blames himself for his father's death, his friends' death, his clan's death, and Mahiru's death. This is one of the most important points of Guren's character. I don't think he turns a blind eye to Mahiru's actions, but he takes all the blame on himself so he doesn't blame Mahiru. For him, if Mahiru was possessed and killed his friends, it was because he was too weak to protect and save her.
Anyway, the whole Mahiru/Guren relationship is in a fog, we can ONLY theorize until Kagami gives us answers.
What is stupid, however, is not the ship (it is the only one who was closest to reality) but your inappropriate attitude in attacking a fictitious ship. By doing this you can also hurt those who love this ship and that is stupid and wrong.
Here is what I learned from cat16 and my analyzes if we just look beyond the facade of the characters.
The characters will end the way they want and the way Kagami wants his characters to end. We just have to see what he decides to do, following the evolution of the characters and the story of the manga! ❤

God’s Wrath Against Sinful Humanity
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.
24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
Romans 1:18-32

The hannya (般若) is a mask used in Japanese Noh theater, representing a jealous female demon. It is characterized by two sharp bull-like horns, metallic eyes, and a leering mouth.[1] In Noh plays, the type of mask changes according to the degree of jealousy, resentment, and anger of the female characters. The hannya is a mask that represents a female onryō (怨霊, vengeful spirit) even more resentful, jealous, and angry than the namanari (生成), a woman on the verge of becoming a demoness.[2
The word hannya (般若) is a Japanese phonetic transcription of the Sanskrit word prajñā (प्रज्ञा), meaning 'wisdom'.

Not that I was trying too hard to gain access back considering I was burnt out and useless back here in the states. But I got it! During my time away, I would peruse Twitter. Talk about aggravating lol. I’ve always known I was an outlier, but when I saw this tweet while looking at ons spoilers, I laughed so hard I just had to come back here to document my impact on this wonderful community. No SHOT, I’m still fucking crying XD (Also, still both a Guren and Yuu stan)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They couldn’t see my vision back then, but everyone’s learning now....Dunno if I’m coming back to this account for real or not, it’s just been too long (2 years?!?!!) I’m out of touch ( ˃̣̣̥ω˂̣̣̥ )

A fear of mine…
Just because a shōnen is good doesn’t mean it will end in a satisfying way. Many amazing shōnens I have been invested on for years had unexpectedly disappointing endings like Shokugeki no Soma and Fairy Tail. I assume it’s because authors know how to develop a story but not how to give it a conclusion and sometimes they actually rush the ending because they run out of creativity, become tired or for other reasons.
Owari no Seraph isn’t the best written shonen but it has its charm too. So this fear of mine is:
GureMahi Endgame
At the beginning, especially Nagoya arc, the relationship of guremahi was visibly toxic, in which I could see from miles away that Mahiru was vile and forcing Guren to do things he obviously didn’t want to do.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But now, even though I know Mahiru is still manipulating Guren, the way the panels are drawn and the dialogues are written, makes it seem as if Guren and Mahiru are allies standing on equal ground who can talk to each other like normal rather than puppet and puppeteer. Also, the namanari Guren in Nagoya had no control over his body because Mahiru was controlling him. But when Guren turned into a demon in the recent arc (Shibuya) it bothers me how instead of being it either Mahiru or Noya or both controlling Guren’s body while Guren’s conscience sleeps, Guren actually has autonomy over himself to move freely without Mahiru being shown to visibly, physically manipulate him.
And I know people have joked about Guren avoiding Mahiru from falling after taking another dose of the drug because he needed her “that thing” for his plans and that it’s in Guren’s nature to offer help to other people like Kureto but the way it was made so dramatic, with Guren shouting her name and immediately running to catch her doesn’t give the vibes of ‘saving someone simply because they are necessary for a plan with no feelings involved in the action’.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It feels as if Kagami changed his mind and wants to make guremahi seem less toxic than he initially intended to and established in order to slowly reach a guremahi endgame. The addition of Shikama being the ‘most evil’ one makes it worse because that way it’s as if Kagami is trying to overshadow every wrong Mahiru has done until now with Shikama’s wrongdoings since she is the ‘lesser of the two evils’. There is also no one blaming Mahiru in the manga so far, or to be more precise, no one who is entitled to blame Mahiru present in the place where the current plot events are actively taking place.
Kagami doesn’t provide a satisfying development of plot events, so why would he provide a satisfying ending? Moreover, despite not yet reaching the ending of the manga (as we are still at the point where it is “beginning” for real) I can already see Kagami giving half-assed closures to topics that any person in his right mind would have guessed the fandom wouldn’t have accepted it positively and obviously, after it happened, it wasn’t accepted positively at all, as expected.
For example:
- The background of family abuse and experimentation as well as her development as squad leader of Shinoa: Instead of developing them and giving them a closure, Kagami simply threw them away just to make her simp for the mc, and then he goes and finishes her off by making her demon ditch her like nothing and take away her plot relevance before we could see her true potential.
- The potential of our Mika: Instead of showing us a Mika who can change the others’ opinions about taboos Kagami proceeds to kill him with no reason but to weaponise him and no consequence on the mc and the squad, and then turn him to a different entity (demon Mika).
- The long awaited Hīragi sisters reunion: No emotional reunion at all. The fandom has been waiting for this for years just for Shinoa to act like nothing to the fact that her apparently dead, demonised older sister is in flesh and bone in front of her.
- The long awaited arrival of Krul: Kagami hyped us for Krul’s arrival to the scene after 50 chapters of being played around, and even gave us the impression she would knock some sense into Shinoa squad just to interrupt her moment and show us again that she is still played around by others, killing her reputation as the millennia old Queen of Vampires.
Shinoa has always been the favourite female character in the series and Mika one of the most popular and beloved by the fandom. Kagami knew he had to treat their characters appropriately but still he went against the fandom’s wishes and did what he did. The majority of the fandom doesn’t support GureMahi (just speaking for the English one since I don’t know how the Japanese fandom feels) yet it’s possible Kagami once again will go against our wishes and make it an endgame. I remember that in an interview Kagami even said that Guren and Mahiru are one of his favourite characters and that he wants a happy ending for the Hīragi sisters because they are “such tragic sisters”. So the question is:
What would be a happy ending for Mahiru?
First things first, Mahiru only has Shinoa and Guren. The other characters either hold a grudge against her or don’t even know who she is. But even after Mahiru came back after eight years, Shinoa is busier giving all her attention to Yuu. We can already see who Shinoa cares the most for. But a happy ending where characters end up alone most of the times is not a happy ending, especially Mahiru who has voiced out that her true desires are “to be a normal girl, to love a favourite person and to give birth to a child” (or something like that), and for that to be fulfilled Guren is needed in the equation. However, no way Kagami is going to force Guren, his favourite character, to spend the rest of his life with the girl who killed his friends and is the indirect reason his father died right? But then I think on how Kagami is writing things as if he wanted to erase everything he has written until now regarding GureMahi like Guren catching Mahiru implying he still has feelings for her, or how he can pull the resurrection idea to erase the fact that Shinya and the others are dead because of Mahiru, or how he can make Shimama the scapegoat for everything that Mahiru did. I don’t trust Kagami, and I can even see an ending were he forces the image of a happy Guren with Mahiru. Heck, even I can see Kagami doing something about their eight year age gap to make the ship look more acceptable.
It might be my impression but I feel like Kagami writes such things because he no longer can handle the characters as well as he could have before, which happens with a lot of other writers, and so rushes it. I would like to say he hit a writer’s block but damn…it can’t be…things have already been like this for over a year…

Together in this Hell
For @mikayuuweek
Day 4: Together/Alone (ft. Pirate!Mika/Siren!Yuu)
In which, Beauty and the Beast meets The Little Mermaid but more on the darker side of things, and Yuu being in his Namanari/Demon personality as a Siren but becoming a total goofball whenever he’s human. I also wanted to try writing toxic MikaYuu for a change (though I’m not sure if this is toxic enough haha). Enjoy reading!
---
The years had changed Mikaela's life ever since the mermaid, Akane, engraved the Philosopher's Stone into his being to spare his life in exchange of her own. At that time, Mikaela was grateful that the Gods seem to have found favor in him enough to give him a second chance.
But now… Oh, how many times Mikaela had spat out curse after curse against the Heavens for granting him immortality, for denying him the sweet release of death after witnessing far too many things for his being to bear, for losing those precious to him against the passage of time over and over again. The reminder of it all left a bitter taste in his mouth, and no alcohol or lover could ever take it away from him; their flavors have long gone stale.
"The Gods have abandoned me to live with this pain alone…" He would murmur the blasphemy while he glared up at the sky accusingly. "If I had known that this would happen, I wouldn't have blindly worshiped such useless beings that couldn't even grant me the miracle of releasing me from this forsaken prison."
The thought of taking his own life wasn't foreign to Mikaela. He had done so multiple times, but still, it all ended up in failure after failure. The wounds of his attempts have long healed through time.
And so, with dread in his heart, Mikaela spent another century to himself. Alone.
… Or so he thought.
"---I'm a mermaid, I swear…!" Mikaela's prisoner claimed when he caught him one night trying to drown him in the midst of his reminiscing. "I was just curious of your… Uh…"
"... Of my what, my neck?" Mikaela guessed. His voice was laced with venom as he leered at the 'mermaid'. "Intriguing, but doing the same thing again has grown dull on me."
"Wait, you've done this before?"
Mikaela raised a brow at the 'mermaid's' interest in a rather grotesque topic. He didn't even bother to hide that he was indeed trying to drown Mikaela with that statement of his.
"Hmm, yes… A lot of times, in fact." Mikaela confirmed with a nod that seemed to shock the 'mermaid'. "But I guess the biggest difference was where I did them… I think I tried drowning myself in the Bermuda Triangle once, but as you can see, I'm still alive and well."
The pirate then crossed his arms while he examined his prisoner. "What does that say about you… Siren?"
"I…" The siren began, speechless at the newfound information. "I have never… met a human like you with that kind of thought. Even your desires were rather empty… Void of no will to live… It's lonely…"
Mikaela hummed, slightly impressed. The creature was quite keen in their observation of him without needing him to say it outright, and only a few people could make out what Mikaela was truly feeling on the inside.
He didn't expect a siren - of all things - to be aware of his state, and a tinge of a familiar warmth settled in his chest.
"... You say that, and yet you still came to me?" Mikaela questioned as his lips curled to a small, amused grin. "Why?"
"You're… interesting." The siren explained. "You have this… aura that I can't describe with my eyes. Yet, you look very much like a human. Your presence draws me in… like an anglerfish."
"Anglerfish…?"
The siren nodded. "You're beautiful, but also dangerous." He grinned then; his smile holding an intent that bordered between carnage and lust. "I wouldn't mind having such a fine human for myself, despite endangering my life like this."
"Oh…" Mikaela murmured as his own grin turned to a smirk. "You're quite the charmer, aren't you? I should've expected much, coming from you. However…"
Quickly, Mikaela drew out his blade and swung it towards the siren; the sharp metal sliced a clean line on the creature's skin and caused a small trickle of blood to emerge. The siren stared at him unflinchingly despite the wound blooming on his cheek.
"I'm rather expensive, unfortunately. I don't think you have the price to pay for it."
The siren chuckled darkly, finding Mikaela's words to be funny.
"Ah, but I do have something that you'll like." He provided, his voice dripped with temptation as he gently pushed Mikaela's blade away from his bleeding cheek using his scaly finger. "From our conversation so far… You seem to be suffering from something… You're just like me."
Mikaela raised a brow. "... What are you talking about?"
"Human, you're cursed." The siren pointed out with a tiny thrall in his tone. It almost sounded hypnotizing. "I can help you break it, but only if you become mine in return. After all, nothing is ever free in this world, and we both know that very well."
He peered for a bit curiously. His green eyes shining with mirth at Mikaela's indecisiveness.
"You're lying..." Mikaela reasoned out after he came to a conclusion. "There's no evidence of which you speak of. If there was, then I would've found it ages ago."
The siren arched a brow.
"Then, answer me this…" A wet hand made its way on Mikaela's face, taking a hold of his chin while the creature neared him dautingly; his haunting eyes scrutinizing him for another excuse. "Why would I risk my life lying to you about this? While I do want you, I wouldn't put myself out in this gamble if I wasn't sincere with my exchange. What do those folks say in your world, 'A favor for a favor'?"
"..."
"So what do you say, human?" The siren asked as he swiped his thumb on Mikaela's skin. "I'm not aware of what kind of hardships you have, but I know that you won't regret my offer. I'm almost certain of it."
Mikaela hated how those eyes could nearly see through him, almost mocking him that he had to depend on someone else for his wish of dying. It was insulting enough that the other was offering an answer to his curse like some petty coin thrown to a beggar, whilst Mikaela had searched far and wide for just a crumb of a miracle for the impossible.
Was this, perhaps, the Gods’ way of pitying him?
"... How vile," Mikaela uttered with a disgusted look on his face, both from the siren's offer and the implication that the Gods were finally paying attention to him after for so many years. He grabbed the siren's hand on him and threw it away like it caught fire, slapping it.
"Your words are interesting, but I'm not someone that can be easily swayed. You have to earn my trust for that." Mikaela said as he sheathed back his sword with a distinctive click. "What's your name?"
"Yuuichirou," The siren addressed himself, and Mikaela idly noticed his ear fins wagging.
"Well then, Yuuichirou, the name is Mikaela." The pirate introduced himself briskly as he crossed his arms on his chest. "Since you claim to know the answer to my curse, I have to be certain that you're not spouting nonsense. Otherwise, I'll have your head."
Yuuichirou chuckled as he imitated a small bow. "Then by all means, allow me to accompany you, together in this hell. I'm your prisoner, so it's only right that I pay my dues."
Mikaela tried not to be impressed once more with this siren who seemed to know much too many things. But those words of his… Perhaps this meager companionship he was giving wasn't so bad, after all.

-🌙 Guren looked down at Rise. Nightmares? It sounded like her demon was indeed to blame for this chaos. But her original question caught his attention. He knew a lot more about human experimentation than he let on, even if he never did it until he was sixteen. His sect had forbidden, for good reason. -🌙 "What kind of experimentation?" he asked simply, not showing that he was mad. He didn't even seem to think she was spouting nonsense. He did seem to look a bit concerned for her. That being now he had two kids that he needed to keep from the Hiragis attention, and if Rise was this unstable right now, he had to keep close to her. -🌙 "You should have come to me with this," he remarked simply. "If you are having issues like these, how am I supposed to help you otherwise? I have told you before that I needed to know didn't I?" Guren paused as he thought about what to say next. "As for your demon, there are ways to calm her. So stop refusing to sleep, not to mention keeping things from me."
Needing to sit down due to the weak feeling that arose in her legs, Rise moved to place her hands in her lap as she stared downwardly. It was hard for her to be so open about the nightmare she came from. After all, her childhood was far from normal. Those bright lights... the sharp tools cutting into her... She found herself recalling those experiences constantly.
Feeling her thoughts beginning to drift off as she recalled the horrific line of events, the brunette suddenly snapped back to reality when she'd heard Guren speaking to her. His question dug deep-- much deeper than she was expecting. Moving a now shaking hand, the teen wiped her eyes in her sleeve before sucking in a deep breath. "I don't want to keep things from you, I swear, I just-... I'm... I'm not sure where to start, to be completely honest with you... I've also been terrified of what might happen if the wrong person learns about it all..."
"But, I trust you... So..."
Tumblr media
"I don't know much about my biological family's involvement with the Hiiragi clan. The only thing that I know for certain was that my father withdrew from them when he'd discovered his little experiment, but that was before I was even born... the surgeries didn't start until I was maybe... three? I think that's my earliest memory of it all... a-anyways, he was trying to figure out if it were possible to make a person into a demon without a pre-existing demon being around... He would often talk about something called a 'namanari', but to him that was just a cheap way to turn someone into a demon. He wanted it to be 'natural'."
"Whenever I was put under the knife, he would strap me down onto the table and for some reason he would give me this drug that forced me to stay awake, no matter what happened. He would say it would interfere with his research if I wasn't conscious since he was trying to change my consciousness. Well, along the way in his research I think he succeeded, though I'm not sure whether he knows or not. The night of the castrophe, he had just finished conducting one of his experiments before that vampire broke in. You know pretty much the rest of it from there..."
"You don't find that completely unbelievable, do you?... I know I sound insane... but... the demon that's constantly in my ear-- it's not my weapon."

Owari no Seraph Drama CD: Mezase! Debyuu e no Michi!! (Track 1)
This and Kakuse! Kurorekishi!! (Track 2) were the only OnS Drama CDs I couldn't find translations for, so I decided to do it myself!
Here's the link to Track 2.
And here's the link to the audio, please listen along while you read: https://soundcloud.com/namanari/sets/owari-no-seraph-seraph-of-the-end-drama-cd-set-2
(note: * means I am unsure of the translation for whatever reason, and *** means I have no idea what the hell they're saying and just took my best guess)
Owari no Seraph - Drama CD, Track 1: Shoot for It! The Road to Debut!!
This is the story of young high school stars risking their lives in the competitive world of show business.
Shinoa: One, two, three, four! Yoichi-san, can you lift those legs higher? Yuu-san, your rhythm is way behind! Kimizuki-san, you’ve got a very unnatural smile, eh? All right, all finished!
Yuu: This is tough!
Yoichi: I can’t move at all.
Kimizuki: I need a little break.
Shinoa: If you guys are struggling* this much with the basic dance, you still have a long way to go.
Yuu: Wait a sec, Shinoa!
Shinoa: What is it?
Yuu: Finish up this lesson already and let me debut! No matter how you look at it, this is all just a waste of time!
Shinoa: Oh? That’s quite an airheaded thing to say, Yuu-san. You’ve barely been keeping up with the lessons at training school, so obviously making your debut would be impossible, don’t you think?
Yuu: Wha-
Shinoa: As the saying goes, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, so the basics are-
Yuu: WHATEVER! There are plenty of people who became stars even though they couldn't dance, making a living off their own compositions, right?!*** Oh, I get it—this is workplace negligence!
Shinoa: I see. So that’s what you think. Then, is everyone else of the same opinion?
Yuu: Of course they are! Right? I mean, even Yoichi is here because he wants to make his debut!
Yoichi: Eh? Me? Um, well, I would love to make my debut, but… but it’s not possible for me yet. Just now, I couldn’t do the dance at all…
Shinoa: That’s a difference of opinion, hm?
Yuu: What am I supposed to do about that wimpy attitude?!
Kimizuki: You know, you can’t even follow the rhythm. The one furthest behind is you! Stop acting like our representative! I’ve already decided to debut once my song, dance, and acting are all flawless.
Yuu: Excuse me? You’re saying you didn’t feel anything from my dancing?
Kimizuki: Nothing! First, you need to practice properly-
Yuu: Shut up! My dancing will silence the words of unsophisticated amateurs!
Kimizuki: You’re the amateur, godammit! Or is that also too hard for you to understand?
Yoichi: Now, now, you two-
Yuu & Kimizuki: SHUT UP!
Yoichi: Ehhh?
Shinoa: The same old pattern, huh?
Yuu: Oi, you wanna go, bastard?
Kimizuki: Yeah, bring it on.
Yoichi: C’mon, stop fighting already!
Yuu: We’re not gonna stop, Yoichi!
Kimizuki: Yeah, let’s settle this.
Yuu: Hah, that’s my line!
Yoichi: Aaaah! The speakers!
Kimizuki: That all you got?*
Yoichi: Aaah, the monitor! Hey, Shinoa-san…! (unintelligible), please stop them!
Shinoa: Ehh, what a pain in the- ahem. I mean, don’t hurt yourselves, you guys! It’s okay, someone will be here to stop you any minute now.
Yoichi: Huh?
Guren: I get called in for a special course and see this... what the hell. Shinoa! What happened here?
Shinoa: Yuu-san and Kimizuki-san are fighting like an old married couple as per usual. Incidentally, they’ve broken some equipment today. Ah. Doesn't this count as working together?*
Yuu: Ohoho, Guren! You came at just the right time.
Guren: Huh?
Yuu: Recommend me to be the number one young star in the agency, ‘cause I'm so awesome at it and should be allowed to make my debut early!*
Kimizuki: If anyone's gonna get recommended, it should obviously be me... right?
Yuu: Tch! Ah- ouch!
Guren: Shinoa… do your job properly.
Shinoa: I get paid to give lessons~. Watching over and protecting office equipment… it’s difficult for a cute, weak girl like me.
Guren: You come from a family of celebrities, hailed as a genius since you were a child actress... that's not what I call cute.
Shinoa: Even though I’m this adorable~?
Guren: Jeez, are these guys going to be okay?
Shinoa: Ignoring me, hm? Well, I think they have potential.* But whether or not they'll be able to make their debuts... It depends on the instructor who gives them lessons, don't you think?
Guren: Really? Fine then. In that case, let’s get started on my lesson!
Yuu: All right! I’ll show you my talent!
Guren: I was a Spartan star, you know.* I won’t go easy on you like Shinoa! Before the lesson, strength training! Lateral Workout: One Hundred Pushups! Begin! Until you can get your dance lesson perfect, we'll keep repeating this hundreds of times!
Guren: Theatrical Performance: Emotional Expression! … What the hell is that?! You’re not doing it at all!
Guren: Finally, voice training! Diaphragmatic Breathing: Vocalization Regimen! … All right, that’s enough for today.
Shinoa: Your efforts are much appreciated.
Guren: By the way, I’ll be adding more to tomorrow’s schedule.
Yuu: Seriously?! It’s already mixed up as it is without adding stuff…*
Guren: See ya! Go to sleep early tonight, tomorrow’s gonna be tough. We’ll continue like this till you can make your debut.
Yoichi: N-No way!
Guren: Ah. By the way, Yuuichirou and Kimizuki. I'll deduct the cost of the equipment you broke from your salary.
Shinoa: Students in training school don’t get a salary.
Guren: Oh, that’s right. Heh, in that case, if you ever manage to make your debut for Demon King*, you won’t get paid for about a year, how ‘bout that?
Yuu: Eh-?
Guren: And if you fail the debut or revolt against the agency, I'll just ship you off in a cattle boat!*
Yuu: C-Cattle boat…
Shinoa: I can’t believe he’s teaching so many lessons… Finally living up to expectations*… maybe.
Yoichi: R-Really? ‘Cause somehow I expected this to be fun, but…
Shinoa: But it’s just…
Kimizuki: Just what?
Shinoa: Harassment, right?
Yuu: Definitely…
Yoichi: This is going to continue tomorrow? I might collapse…
Kimizuki: If you slack off, you’ll be fired.
Yuu: Damn it… isn’t there any way to debut faster? Damn! Just because stupid Guren’s a little bit popular! Aarrghh! What should I do to make my debut?!
Kimizuki: Like I know. If I did, I would have done it first.
Yoichi: Me too…
Shinoa: Yoichi-san, Kimizuki-san, you two would also like to make your debut somehow, huh?
Kimizuki: Of course.
Shinoa: If you’re that desperate, I know of a way to do it~
Yuu: Ooh, really?! What is it? Spit it out, Shinoa!
Kimizuki: I would rather debut and start making a name for myself in an unorthodox manner* than continue to be harassed like this.
Yoichi: Me too! I’m ready- ack!
Shinoa: This is something of a cheat, but recently there is the technique of becoming famous by posting your own performances onto the Internet. Therefore, if you can post an enlightening, attention-grabbing video, you might just get closer to your debut.*
Yoichi: A recent technique to become famous, huh?
Kimizuki: But unsigned people have to put in a considerable amount of effort to get attention, no matter what they shoot.
Yoichi: True… then for nobodies like us, it’s impossible after all?
Shinoa: Such crybabies~. Why don't you take an example from your slightly overconfident senpai?
Yuu: What’s the point of being overconfident like Guren?
Shinoa: Who knows, it might be a good idea to involve already-famous celebrities~*
Yoichi: Maybe if we knew someone famous…*
Kimizuki: Newbies like us don’t have celebrity acquaintances, and even if we did, the chances of them cooperating with us are slim...
Yuu: Oh…? Oh! What about him?
Yoichi: Who?
Yuu: Our overconfident senpai!
Kimizuki: No way, you don't mean…
Yuu: He’s popular right now, isn’t he? Guren!
Kimizuki: Are you serious?! There’s no way he would cooperate with us!
Yuu: Huh? Who said anything about cooperation? The point is to get them involved, right?
Yoichi & Kimizuki: Σ(●ꉺ▱ꉺ●)???
———
Yuu: Yoichi! Is the camera good to go?
Yoichi: Y-Yeah, there’s plenty of memory and battery, but…
Yuu: Kimizuki! How’s the lighting?
Kimizuki: It’s fine.
Shinoa: By the way, Yuu-san. Why are we doing a wake-up surprise prank?
Yuu: Guren, the most popular young actor right now, waking up from sleep... that's definitely what everyone wants to see, right? And when they watch the video, they'll see more hot young stars around him! With all the attention this is going to get, we'll become popular in no time!*
Shinoa: Um… I'll refrain from making any statements regarding the probability of success. ‘Cause it sounds interesting.
Kimizuki: Okay, that's great and all, but it's three in the morning! Won't he get mad? We're supposed to be asleep.
Yoichi: L-Let’s not do it! He’s definitely going to be mad!
Shinoa: Worst case scenario, he kills us.
Yoichi: EHHH?!?!
Yuu: C’mon, even Guren understands TV etiquette.* Besides, senpai or not, I don’t care. For the sake of my debut, I’ll use him.
Kimizuki: Where does that useless confidence come from?
Yuu: Who knew that this duplicate key to Guren's room, which I borrowed from the agency manager, would come in handy at a place like this~?
Yoichi: D-Did you really borrow that…? Yuu-kun!!
Yuu: We’re in.
Kimizuki: This… is trespassing, right?
Yuu: There’s someone inside, so it’s okay!
Yoichi: That doesn’t make it okay!!!
Yuu: Good morning! Ah- Yoichi, Kimizuki, c’mere, c’mere!
Yoichi: S-So much space!*
Yuu: As expected of such a big seller! If I get popular, I’ll have a room like this too!
Kimizuki: With this, we’ve cooperated on my debut.
Yuu: Ooh. First, before we barge in and do the wake-up surprise on Guren, let's look for something he wouldn't want to be seen with.
Yoichi: Why are we doing that?
Yuu: For the views, the views!*** A diary, or, uhh... an action figure collection*, you know! If we can get our hands on something that Guren doesn't want exposed...
Kimizuki: It would be easier to get him to cooperate with us, huh?
Yoichi: That is totally blackmail.
Kimizuki: Oi! I found something.
Yuu: Oh? Lemme see.
Shinoa: I’m interested as well.
Yuu: Let’s check inside for his weakness~
Yoichi: Sure enough, it’s blackmail!? But my debut is on the line!
Yuu: What is this? I can’t tell!
Shinoa: It looks like… a lockable diary?
Yuu: Is he a girl?
Yoichi: I-I wonder where the key is?
Yuu: You’re getting into this too, huh, Yoichi?
Yoichi: N-No way!
Shinoa: If he’s hiding something important, the contents have got to be the truth!
Yuu: Mm, all right. Let’s find out the truth! … Ah, it’s pitch black. I don’t hear anything… he must be dead asleep. For now, let’s search for the keys!
Kimizuki: Right!
Shinoa: Right!
Yuu: I’ll check the bookshelf.
Kimizuki: Then I’ll get the closet.
Yoichi: I’ll be looking around the living room.***
Shinoa: Hm? Oh my~
Guren: You lot… what are you doing in my room?
Yuu: Ah, umm… Good morning!! Here is Ichinose Guren-san, after his surprise wake-up!!!*
Guren: Huh?
Shinoa: He’s completely rolling with it.
Yuu: I know this is sudden, but I'm asking Guren's fans all over the country to spread the word that he sleeps without pants on!!***
Guren: Hehehe… pulling this kind of shit… did you really think I’d let you guys get away with it?*
Yoichi: He’s mad!!
Kimizuki: Naturally.
Yuu: No, no, no, no… saying something like that in front of your fans… it’s not very professional!* Mkay, let’s try again!
Kimizuki: Stop! Don’t provoke him any further!
Yoichi: Yeah! Let’s just run already!
Guren: You’ll remember this.
Yuu: Oh! I understand. We’ve got to say something nice about Guren, don’t we?* Everyone, please… don’t forget about Guren! Also, I am Hyakuya Yuuichirou!
Yoichi: Ahh, that’s not what he meant!!
Kimizuki: Idiot!
Guren: The careers* of you three…
Kimizuki: Three? Huh- where’s Shinoa?
Shinoa: Good luck~!
Yoichi: She’s already that far away?!
Kimizuki: We’re leaving too!
Yoichi: W-What about Yuu-kun?
Kimizuki: Leave him! He’s a goner!***
Yuu: Operation Wake-Up Surprise on Ichinose Guren… was a huge success!!!
Guren: It was a huge failure, you idiot!!

Hi! I’ve seen another blog bring this up! I have a feeling if MikaYuu does become canon it will be like this: Demon Mikas soul is put back into Seraphs body whether this is Shikas doing or maybe even Yuu (with a kiss!). After the big fight Mika will become human with the Seraphs body. Now the kicker: Seraphs human body is probably going to end up female. Yup. I saw people talking about this and well, I think it might generally happen. Purely because yuu wanted Mika to be human, Seraphs body is called a girl multiple times and finally, Mika was supposed to be a girl anyway (and probably Yuus love interest) what’s your thoughts on this theory?
Tumblr media
Hey dear anons!
1- ah... Tbh I have no ideas about this case dear anon😅😅 but anything can happen in this case so maybe you're right but I just advice you not to think so hard about it or turning a headcanon as a reality for yourself so if it will turn out wrong you'll feel bad and even kinda betrayed after that
2- that's actually a hard work dear anon! But you can check this post of dear @namanari for it!
Hope the answers were useful dear anons!!

Not me seeing Yoichi being badass and denying Gekkouin.
Anyway, in light of some new? revelations in chapter 102 I'm going back into OnS theorizing. (Damn it.) This is just a collection of random thoughts, so each paragraph is unrelated to the next unless otherwise stated, 'kay?
First things first, Shinya's okay. He's okay. I think. From what I can tell, the demons draw power from their contracted humans (hence Yoichi denying his) and Gekkouin tells Kiseki-o to warn Byakkomaru (and Raimeiki) of Yuu, meaning that, by extension, Shinya should be fine, unless they're just unaware of what's going on with other demons. In chapter 83, Byakkomaru literally says that Shinya dying would be a problem for him, since he's his demon, which means Shinya's fine unless he isn't and Kiseki-o and Gekkouin just don't know.
Yuu's a namanari, right? Then why/how is he able to remember Gekkouin and Kiseki-o (or their powers, at least), and Yoichi and Kimizuki? From what I recall, demons/namanari don't typically remember their past selves? At first, he doesn't seem to remember anyone except Mika, being hellbent on saving him, until he goes "oh, I recognize those [Kiseki-o's] coffins." I suppose this is similar to Mika not remembering Yuu or Akane or the other orphans but still feeling an attachment to them. I don't know. I'm mixing up details, I think, but doesn't Ashera or Mahiru remember themselves too? The thing is, though, I'm only 50% sure that turning into a demon erases one's memories. Yuu, technically Mika, and Ashera or Mahiru (whichever) remember at least parts of their lives, and when Shinya pseudo-turns he at least remembers his burning desire to save Guren.
At first I speculated a bit about how Black Demon Series demons are somehow directly related to seraphs via their contracted human, since it's been stated that all of the Black Demon candidates have been experimented on, though that has no other basis in canon and doesn't make sense anyway. I did notice, however, that all of the known Black Demon demons (lol) are involved with Sika Madu, except for Mahiru-no-Yo and Noya (who both are contracted to Guren). And I was going to do something about that, except, again, Mahiru-no-Yo and Noya. (Details, details. I could probably make coherent theories/posts if I actually read OnS properly, but, y'know.)
Anyhow, going back to chapter 83 (at least I think it's 83), I'm a bit confused as to why Shinya still remains human. When he finally convinces Byakkomaru to give him more power, he grows two horns and technically turns into a demon then. However, those horns later recede, and it doesn't seem like Shinya's turned into a namanari. I don't know, I could be wrong, but if this is true, then perhaps it's Byakkomaru's odd protectiveness coming into play? It can be noted that Byakkomaru never actually says Shinya will turn into a demon, just that he'll probably die/lose since Guren's so much stronger, and the whole "turning into a demon" thing is just Shinya going, "I don't care if I turn into a demon." Honestly, the circumstances behind turning into a demon and the side effects of it are hidden at best and completely made-up at worst.
(And this leads to me wondering if Byakkomaru's just protective of Shinya because he relies on him for power and knows that if he doesn't stop him Shinya'll just run right on into danger.)
Now that I think about it, Shinya, Mika, and Yuu are all quite similar in character, certain aspects of their personality, anyway. All of them have a very, very fierce desire to protect their chosen one (Guren, Yuu, and Mika, respectively), willing to give up anything for them. I don't really know if Guren falls under this characterization too. Don't kill me, but I think he's actually has a closer likeness to Mahiru. (I know, I said it. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.)
On a completely unrelated note, look at this completely smitten face:
Tumblr media
This man is smitten. Smitten. In love. Not "your garden-variety idolization" or whatever the hell you want to call it. Come on, Shinya. Listen to Byakkomaru. As you said, he's your demon. He probably knows you better than you know yourself.

bouquetcfmuses:
Of all the people that would have stayed behind to help her, it was unsurprising to Mitsuba that it was Yuuichiro. That idiot. Between the battle in Nagoya, them feeling from the scene and disbanding from the JIDA, there was a lot being carried on the small squad’s shoulders. The battle in Nagoya was heavy and the group hadn’t had the time to process any of it since they escaped. Guren’s betrayal, the Demon Army killing hundreds of soldiers, Kimizuki’s sister being a human experiment…
It was too much to process at once, so it was natural that it would all catch up to her at once.
She’d never realized how much PTSD she had built up over her years of service for the army. As a Sangū she had been taught from a very young age to forget unimportant things such as her feelings. But, after becoming a part of Shinoa Squad and learning to grow close with those around her, Mitsuba had learned that her feelings and the bonds she shared were precious.
That didn’t stop her from feeling the guilt of it all. It was always in the back of her mind that she could cause the death of her dear friends– no, her family, just as easily as she had caused the deaths of those in her squad before. Every time she saw the blood of her family splatter on the battlefield those images flashed through her mind.
Why was she always the one in need of saving?
Tumblr media
“Yuu,” she started as she accepted his hand and pushed herself up, “I can’t become the priority. I can walk just fine, so we should regroup with the others and come up with a new strategy. Something isn’t working here.”
She had made a valid point– she couldn’t become the main focus of their mission. Not at any step of the way. “Our first priority should be regrouping and taking out these fourhorsemen.”
As she shook off that heavy feeling of guilt, Mitsuba turned her gaze to search for Yoichi’s hiding spot before looking to Yuuichiro. “Are you ready to go? You’re not seriously still worried about me, are you? I’m fine, okay? Let’s get moving already!”
Another arrow hissed above their heads and the heavy foot of a Horseman could be heard approaching them from south. Yoichi was still covering their backs despite everything and Yu reminded himself to thank him later for that.
“Crap. It’s getting messy out here, let’s go.” he gave one last glance to the blond girl, leaving any discussion for later. The priority was to get her to a safe place. The building wasn’t too far away so the run wasn’t too long, it wasn’t too difficult to enter either as the ground floor doors had been destroyed by a car that had crashed into them.
As every place in that world hit by the Apocalypse’s judgement, there was no sound inside but the glass cracking underneath their boots as they made their way into what it used to be the main hall.
Tumblr media
“I wonder if we can find some food here too, maybe some left over cans that are still good. That’d be an extra point for us.” they were surrounded by darkness, it was an area that electricity had not been restored yet but his eyes were starting to adjust to his surroundings.
“I think Yoichi should be on the 15th or 20th floor by the trajectory of his arrows.” his lips pressed together as he hummed in thought.
“I guess we should meet up with him and rethink of our strategy as you said. And we should get some rest too, I’m kinda running out of energies myself y’know?” he snickered apologetically, moving towards what he believed to be the way to the stairs.
The Namanari was corroding his blood and bones, Yu could feel it whispering ominous words into his head, ready to overtake his mind and body at the first opportunity when he’d be too weak to fight it anymore. It was already a miracle he had not given in to it despite the exhaustion that was weighing on his shoulders.
“We are family so we promised to look after each other, right Mitsuba? If we cannot make it all together there’s no point to continue the mission. The priority is to keep each other safe, so I guess if you think about it you are a priority too. I’m not going to just leave you behind if you can’t make it with me.”

OnS Theories (17S). Seventh Theory - Mahiru’s complete manifestation to the real world
Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend or a good one! Remember to stay safe!
This theory is mostly focused on how exactly Mahiru managed to manifest in the real world as if she was a human but for that, let’s dwell into it, shall we?
P.S: Theories exclude ships and remain within a neutral view
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zVoLuH7s8M
It is known that Mahiru commited actions that aren’t well seen towards many witin the OnS, but nevertheless, she, being a genious, she managed to create a plan that would set in a slow motion despite how she portrayed as a villain within the Catastrophe:
Tumblr media
Image taken from Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign - Chapter 98
Back then, Mahiru was following up two plans; one that would lead to the eventual end of the World, along giving a key to Guren to face down the upcoming struggles that would lead to more chaos and the death of her two cherished persons, thus being Guren and Shinoa.
She believed Guren would be the one who could end the curse and that’s something not only her believed but Rigr Stafford as well since he was the one that altered the Ichinose DNA which is something heavily stated in the World Resurrection LNs Vol 2.
Returning to the main point of this theory, it is known that before her death, she had a curse or something special that made Noya’s weapon or rather, the cursed gear he resided to absorb Mahiru Hiragi within it and eventually, this would lead for Mahiru to trade places with Noya, what do I mean?
After Mahiru was absorbed in Guren’s cursed gear, there was an eventual silence and of course that only made him trigger the resurrection of his friends; after such events, the one to pop was Mahiru; he could see her like a ghost wandering around and ironically, he was the only one capable to see her until chapter 82 ended up releaving how Guren and Mahiru were keeping or restraining Noya in a rather disturbing way:
Tumblr media
Image taken from Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign - Chapter 82
Correct. Mahiru back then in the depths of Guren’s heart was keeping Noya at bay; she didn’t allow Noya to go out and keep it from going rampage but the fact that Guren carried out two demons, only quickened the process on which the drugs he used weren’t enough.
Tumblr media
Image taken from Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign - Chapter 82
And of course, after that, Noya finally made his appearance after so long, after being trapped within Mahiru Hiragi.
Tumblr media
Image taken from Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign - Chapter 82
After such thing, Noya and Mahiru were able to be visible for the first time towards Guren’s squad, but neverthless, Mahiru’s manifestation at that point was of a demon just like Noya and this is due to one reason:
Tumblr media
Image taken from Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign - Chapter 83
After Shinya saw he couldn’t stop Guren, Guren stated he’d save him like he did in the past; and Mahiru warned Guren to not reveal they were resurrected to which Noya replies it’d be better if he told them; to which the picture above follows suit; Noya states that Mahiru no longer opresses him which means he gained freedom and for such freedom, he could devour him just like demons tend to do with humans in order to possess them.
Eventually after this, Guren takes the front to rescue Shinoa and after those events, it leads to the battle between Yu and Mika on which the resutls left most of the fandom with a sour note about how it ended.
At the end, Guren and Mahiru managed to fulfill what they aimed to certain extend which was to make a newborn demon not for an evil agenda but rather, to bring down the First Progenitor, countering him with something that could benefit him a lot:
Tumblr media
Image taken from Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign - Chapter 92
The plan they set into motion in order to stop the First Progenitor began but then, the biggest question is, what exactly did Mahiru do in order to totally manifest in the real world since she was floating up there like a ghost would.
For that, let’s take a base which is the shot Mahiru used on Noya first:
Tumblr media
Image taken from Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign - Chapter 92
Said shot was used in order to halt Noya’s movement and K.O him for a really good time, but within said process, Mahiru gained a pair of horns which is something explained in a previous theory:
OnS Theories (17S). Second Theory - Mahiru’s pair of horns
After such events, Guren and Mahiru started to run towards Krul’s position thanks to Mahiru’s keen senses on smelling Shinoa...
This curious fact is actually seen within this:
Tumblr media
Image taken from Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign - Chapter 54
Yes it’s correct. Mahiru had the ability to smell her sister from faraway distances.
Returning to the main focus of the theory, Mahiru used a drug, a special drug designed by her:
Tumblr media
Image taken from Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign - Chapter 98
Mahiru was aware that the effects of the Sinful Keys weren’t going to last in terms of keeping Shikama Doji asleep and thus made her use a drug that would restrain the cells of the First Progenitor, but what are exactly the effects of said drug if it’s related towards the cells of the First Progenitor?
As a matter of fact, the First Progenitor has been living like a demon for whoever knows how many years, it could be ever since he took possession of the First Heir of the Hiragi Family or the second since it was heard the First Heir had a rather big lifespawn; but within this, the fact that Mahiru and Shinoa themselves hold the cells of the First due to his experiments, it only implies his cells can be affected no matter what condition he might have, but then, how does this affect Mahiru’s demon state?
To begin with, as I stated before, it is known that Mahiru has cells of the First Progenitor due to the experiments that were performed by Tenri Hiragi. Within this, it’s very well known that Mahiru experimented with her own body in order to elaborate plans for the future which is displayed within chapter 97:
Tumblr media
Image taken from Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign - Chapter 97
It can be said that the drug itself was made due to many experiments performed in the past and kept as a safe vital way in order to eventually use them in case the First managed to get ahold of Shinoa’s body along the fact he’d try to track down Mikaela
Furthermore, it can be said that Mahiru’s conditions as something close to being a demon and given the fact that the current condition of the First Progenitor is a demon or rather, it has the same state of demons, after having the drug shot to her own body, this affected the First Progenitor a lot, giving her a temporal time which allows her to manifest in the real world like a normal human would, hence why Guren states that Mahiru is weightless.
It could be said that the drug’s main task is to tear down the curse of the First Progenitor brought down to those affected within the Hiragi family which would explain also why Shinoa was able to break free from the chains that binded her into a deep slumber back in chapter 98 and which was reflected in chapter 99.
Within this, it’s unknown how long the effects of such drug will last but for the meantime and the fact they’re speeding up to catch Mikaela and deliver it to Yu is enough because it’s only a matter of time they might require to restrain Shinoa as well due to Shikama’s possible recovery since she’ll head out to battle him again.
As to how this crazy event was able to occur, somehow defies logic itself but it is to be expected since it’s a world on which demons, vampires, seraphs, namanaris exist; hence why it is not impossible for a drug to cause huge side effects specially in a creature that has a God complex.
What do you think dear readers?
Let me know!

Thoughts on OnS 98... Bleh. There are a lot of half-baked theories here.
Gekkoin, it’s good to see you and your shirtless self. You really got this biker emo vampire vibe going for you.
Tumblr media
Ngl, Gekkoin has some cute expressions chapter.
Okay BUT THE ACTUAL ANALYSIS HERE.
Tumblr media
This page is super interesting to me for several reasons.
Mika is clearly connected to Shikama for some reason, if he’s the DEMON KING and Shikama’s “child.” But I doubt this means literal child; I think this is more in line with a creation since we know Mika and Yuu had parents who tried to kill their “devil spawn” children. I suspect all the Seraphs are the “First’s children.” I think when we saw his past life a while back, that was his original demon form. I wonder if he was born as a demon in human form or something in this life. I mean, he’s a Seraph. Maybe Seraphs are actually connected to angels? Or maybe demons actually are fallen angels, since Lucifer (in biblical ideologies) is connected to desires the same way demons are.
Now the demons have their memories (of Shikama) restored since Mika became a demon. That’s kind of a big deal, ESPECIALLY since Mahiru and Noya are not listed in their group of servants (unlike Byakkomaru and Raimeiki).
***NOTE THAT ONLY BLACK DEMONS ARE LISTED TOO.
This suggests that Noya may not be a member of Shikama’s little gang here. We know Mahiru and Noya are Black Demons. However, Mahiru’s cut Noya off from the world. I’d be curious to know if his confinement is at play here. Alternatively, he was alive with Yuu and Krul during their past lives. My theory for Noya has always been that he was the original third progenitor with them. BUT maybe he was one of the original demons (like Mika who is the demon king).
Regardless, Mahiru seems to be her own entity. However, Shikama can hear through her even as a namanari here. I wonder if she would be considered one of “The First’s children” because she’s borne of his cells.

CRITICISM:
I think the thing that bothers me most about the plot... is that we don’t know what The First wants. I don’t understand how he’s the “villain.”
He plans to use Mika and Shinoa as experiments, but like... they’re already experiments. Everyone is an experiment in this manga. What do these experiments do? Because... it’s not all that climactic. Oh no... Another demon experiment...
Idk. What are his motives? To rule the world? But the world’s destroyed... To gain power? Power over what... He already controls everything. I don’t really understand at all. What does he gain with his Seraphs? Because there’s nothing to really gain that we know of...
Like I feel entirely indifferent toward the First because he hasn’t done anything other than possess Shinoa.

what is the plot of "No Wind Can Touch"? 👀✨
Okay so anon, you have made my morning! This was a wonderful thing to wake up to!
That being said, No Wind Can Touch (NWCT) is about my OC, Chiyoko Hakke, a colonel in the Japanese Imperial Demon Army and Shinya’s personal assistant. Her plot, the one that will be driving the story alongside canon events, is her search for a cure for being a Namanari. She, like Guren, Mahiru, and Yuichiro, is a Namanari, a human that’s slowly turning into a demon.
The fic will become canon divergent at some point. Probably after the next chapter since I don’t want to wait for ONS to end before I finish this fic. (I’ve already taken three years on that D.Gray-Man fic, I won’t be doing that again.)
I should also mention that it’s a Shinya/OC fic since I seem to be physically incapable of writing anything other than OC/Canon.
Thank you so much for the ask!

kuroheishi:
The smell of death had become a scent that followed Yuichiro anywhere he went, in that destroyed world there was no escape from it. The colour of blood stained the planet, even the sea was polluted by it. The sky was tinted of shades that announced punishment for humanity’s sins. Everyone in the squad had their own encounter with death despite Yu only hearing rumours about it himself. Mitsuba had never really opened up about her past, Yu had never asked. However, her eyes had always been enough for him to understand they reflected the same pain his own did that he tried to hide deep down where the light of the day could not reach easily. The mission for that day had been clear; find more supplies and if possible protect the new human colony they had found on their way of their escape from Nagoya. It’s been already a couple of weeks when they took the decision to flee and it had not been easy to survive in the disaster just with their own strength. “It’s okay Mitsuba, no need to apologise.” his hand finally released his family’s shoulder now that he could see her breath had started to calm down again. So many times when he was a kid he had do the same exact thing for some of the Hyakuya children, where in Sanguinem they only had each other to overcome fear.  He never told the kids that he was as scared as them, but they needed him as Mika said and he took that role for them, someone they could look up to and rely on when their worst nightmares would haunt their sleep.

“There’s no need to worry for the mission; Kimizuki, and Shinoa went ahead with Makoto, Yoichi is covering our backs from that building over there.” they did not expect to encounter that many Horsemen of the Apocalypse, they were all exhausted and Yuichiro was still fighting every day the namanari that was trying to go rampage. They had underestimated the situation and some innocent people were sacrificed because of them. They were all carrying the same guilt together. The sound of battle and screams was filling the air, Yuichiro’s eyes scanned the area surrounding them. “We can try to reach Yoichi in that building, we’d have some better cover and you could get some rest.” Yu brought himself to a stand, his hand offered to the girl for her to grab it. “Can you walk? I can carry you if you need me to.” he crouched down to stress out his point.
Of all the people that would have stayed behind to help her, it was unsurprising to Mitsuba that it was Yuuichiro. That idiot. Between the battle in Nagoya, them feeling from the scene and disbanding from the JIDA, there was a lot being carried on the small squad's shoulders. The battle in Nagoya was heavy and the group hadn't had the time to process any of it since they escaped. Guren's betrayal, the Demon Army killing hundreds of soldiers, Kimizuki's sister being a human experiment...
It was too much to process at once, so it was natural that it would all catch up to her at once.
She'd never realized how much PTSD she had built up over her years of service for the army. As a Sangū she had been taught from a very young age to forget unimportant things such as her feelings. But, after becoming a part of Shinoa Squad and learning to grow close with those around her, Mitsuba had learned that her feelings and the bonds she shared were precious.
That didn't stop her from feeling the guilt of it all. It was always in the back of her mind that she could cause the death of her dear friends-- no, her family, just as easily as she had caused the deaths of those in her squad before. Every time she saw the blood of her family splatter on the battlefield those images flashed through her mind.
Why was she always the one in need of saving?

"Yuu," she started as she accepted his hand and pushed herself up, "I can't become the priority. I can walk just fine, so we should regroup with the others and come up with a new strategy. Something isn't working here."
She had made a valid point-- she couldn't become the main focus of their mission. Not at any step of the way. "Our first priority should be regrouping and taking out these fourhorsemen."
As she shook off that heavy feeling of guilt, Mitsuba turned her gaze to search for Yoichi's hiding spot before looking to Yuuichiro. "Are you ready to go? You're not seriously still worried about me, are you? I'm fine, okay? Let's get moving already!"
