Welp. It’s two years now since the last manga update. Osora-sensei, are you doing alright over there? Was the anime a disappointment to you as the original creator? Maybe you can’t figure out how to tie up the loose ends? Are you perhaps thinking that nobody cares about your manga? I know you’ll never read this, but somehow I hope you gather the strength to come back and keep sharing the story that I’m sure has taken you so much effort to put together. We will all be waiting forever.

Today I offer you older Akanya in the world's most inconsistent art style! Tomorrow? Who knows 🤠 (also yes I did paste a panel from ch.48 on the second page because I was too lazy to redraw it myself orz)

This is actually a scene I kinda sorta have planned for my post-canon college / university AU but given the pace at which I work on that fic, it's very questionable when I'll even get to that point lmao

This is a lot more "scars" than "ch.49" but hey it's post-canon so ig it counts for both(?)

Day 5: Snow Day / Secrets

Kaikoku instructed the rest of the group to take refuge in the cabin from the Yeti stage after a mimicry man-eater forced them to split up, betting that the cold will make the creature retreat (assuming that place is eternally in winter lmao)

On her way there, Karin encounters the Underground Gang by accident (& notices that Nanami isn't with them for some reason but focused on getting the two kids to safety with her first).

(Where Zakuro was killed by a mimicry man-eater, and Karin doesn't have the heart to tell Sakura that her brother is... gone )

Karin, Chihiro, and Sakura are the first to arrive in that cabin. Not knowing when the others will come, Karin left to gather supplies.

Or so she intended, until Sakura's question made her stop in her tracks.

Extra Notes:

Chihiro gave Sakura his scarf here.

The idea of Zakuro dying is loosely based on this discarded draft from Osora, where Zakuro is heavily injured.

One of the panels in this comic heavily references a frame from Episode 4.

In which Makino has fallen in love with his classmate Akatsuki, who doesn't quite return his feelings the same way... and somewhere, in the back of his mind, Makino thinks it would have been too good to be true if, just this once, someone loved him the same way he loves them.
