Oblivious!Okita Souji x reader HCs
I got this idea from the chibi chiruran anime. He is the most popular amongst the girls surprisedly but doesn’t bat an eye for any of them and just feeds the cats instead LOL
I poured way too much into this… next I’ll post an Anubis one shot.
CW: hurt/comfort and fluff
No matter how hard you tried to give him gifts yourself, some other girl outside of the residence would ask Saitou to give Souji their gifts instead.
You were certain you would never get his attention if none of those other girls can’t get his. You wish you were a cat instead. They get his attention more than any of you.
You would avoid him to get over your silly crush. Was it because he was the strongest? Or just that he was caring and kind? You were certain it was both, you liked his strong protective side and also he was a caring person.
One day you had asked Hijikata to help you train a bit with a wooden sword, this shocked Souji since he was just outside of the room on the porch petting one of the cats hearing you ask the worst swordsman to train you?
Okita started to mock his swordsman skills as one of the weakest and slowest in the group. Nagakura jumped in and started to make fun of you for asking Hijikata and not him which started a huge fight between the three of them. Souji didn’t like how Nagakura wanted to train you as well. “You still can’t land a hit on me,” Souji snickered at Nagakura but this caused Hijikata to try to sneakily hit Souji from behind, but of course, he dodged and punched Hijikata back knocking him out.
“I… didn’t mean for any of this,” you were shocked by their fight and not sure if they were going to apologize and make up later. You wanted to just leave and not ask any of them again. “Agh, you morons.” Yamanami walked into the room seeing Hijikata on the floor passed out and Nagakura irritated. Souji was nonchalant like usual with his calm expression that was hard to read.
Other times Souji wouldn’t understand some of your jokes, questions or advances about women. This made you wonder if he was even into girls or just uninterested at all.
Once when you were presented with everyone else, Nakagura asked if you liked anyone in the group and made a joke it was probably him. Your face turned red and Yamanami told Nagakura to cease personal questions like that. Unfortunately, even Saitou wondered the same along with Hijikata who rejects your “confession” even though you never said who. You freaked out and said no one and that you’re perfectly fine ending up alone. Lies… of course, the one person you liked was just oblivious to your feelings. The other members stopped picking on you after you denied liking anyone.
Of course, Souji was sitting on the porch ignoring everyone teasing you. You were already accepting the outcome of him never liking you. You sighed and went back to your private room.
After you had left, Souji got mad at them, but most of all, he hated your response deep down on wanting to end up alone. This surprised majority of the shinsengumi members seeing how pissed Souji looked with his murderous glare.
Yamanami was the observer of the group and knew Souji had always hidden his feelings for you or mostly pushed his feelings aside. Yamanami even saw him throw away the love letters from the girls who were always outside the residence fangirling over him or Saitou. Whenever they gave him bento boxes, Souji was always seen giving them to Harada since he was the big eater of the group.
Yamanami had pulled him aside alone to ‘talk’ to him but mostly to get whatever his deal was about. It was obvious that you liked him and he did as well, but you both were too scared to say anything. Souji didn’t respond to Yamanami about the situation that occurred and went to find you.
While sitting alone in your room pondering everything and the embarrassment that the other members put you in. You were certain you were going to end up alone as you said. You didn’t even hear your door open since your back was turned as you lied on your side drawing circles on the wooden floor with your index finger. “Oh, were you going to sleep?” Souji’s voice broke you out of your trance. You muttered a no and said you’re better off being alone right now. It’s unusual for you to want to be alone, especially from him. You already accepted the worst case and prefer to separate yourself from everyone for a while.
“Mind if I stay— I mean, if you’re okay with that. I don’t like how noisy they are.” You wanted to scoff since he mostly slept in Kondo’s room. Seriously?
“Sure, fine. Now what’s the real reason you’re here?” You turned your head to see him standing by the door before sitting next to you. He looked… nervous?
“What did you mean when you said that you’re fine ending up alone?” Souji brought his knees up to his chest. He wasn’t making eye contact with you as he chose to look forward instead. You were confused about where this was coming from. You couldn’t think of anything to respond with.
“I just… wanted them to drop the topic so it came out of nowhere. I’m sorry for all of that…” You suckered in your breath as you closed your eyes.
“I like you and—” Souji said out loud but you didn’t let him finish as you pulled him close to you pressing your lips on his letting both your minds register the moment before pulling away. He wasn’t even shocked nor pushed you away. He was happy as well for accepting his feelings.
“You’re oblivious sometimes, you know that?” You said as you melted in his arms and embrace.

-ˋˏRAMBLE TRAMBLE. . . ->
So I've been watching Isshin for a week now, IM ALMOST DONE BUT I JUST SCENARIOS IN MIND (Sorry if this is gonna be lacking, I still haven't finished Isshin (┬┬﹏┬┬)
So imagine yandere Yakuza isshin harem with a darling who is a betrothed? LIKE LIKE HEAR ME OUT
Maybe you are in a respectable clan or you think your parents think that you're ready to be married whichever the reason but when the news spread out that your parents were letting you get betrothed, THEY WERE GOING INSANE
The moment Ryoma heard the news he was suprised, he was very much worried about your opinion about getting married off, and he would confront you about the subject, he would ask if you agreed to this or were forced into this, for this scenario let's say you said yes, then at first he would be very much suprised but when you reassured him that you really talk through it with your parent then he would be more relaxed. I'm not saying that he would immediately start courting but it did interest him one bit, he wouldn't really show it but he DESPERATELY wants to court you, but since he is still a wanted criminal he wouldn't make any big moves. He would protect you or walk with you so you feel safe and if there was anyone who tried to court you but made you feel very uncomfortable, he would first give them a stern talk but if the guy just ignored his warning he would unsheath his katana. In short, he would protect you from any suitors that really try to sweep you off your feet, but once all things are cleared and he is no longer a wanted man, then he would ask your parents to marry you.
Now for Soji, if he is ecstatic when he hears about the news, he will boisterously visit your parents' house and may or may not threaten them to let them marry you, Soji is an impatient man, and whenever he sees you with Ryoma walking around and bonding, he would feel very pissy, he would then disrupt your little bonding time with Ryoma then he would put an arm around you, he would steal you away from Ryoma. Soji then would take you out on dates maybe hiking so both of you can be far away from most of your suitors, he would pass this off as him trying not to do his paperwork or such, but he would say such bs excuse even though unironically the scenery he chooses was jawdropping and he even bought some food with him. But Soji would cut to the chase and tell you that he is courting you and he is not willing to go down.
Toshizo would also be ecstatic when he heard that you were being betrothed. Toshizo's position as the deputy chief of the Shinsengumi already gives him a good spot as a suitor, and Toshizo would also use his power to remove other low-life "suitors" who will only marry you for respect, money, or fame. He will have a talk with your parents he will make sure to leave many good impressions, his calm and stoic persona tricks many people, but people who know him know that he is determined to have you by his side. But of course, you have to be impressed too, he will take you away from Ryoma or Soji from your outing and will take you out on a date. Toshizo wouldn't outwardly say it but the whole village knows that the deputy chief of the Shinsengumi was planning to make you his bride. Toshizo knows that you also caught the eyes of his men, so he wouldn't hesitate to give them more work than needed.
Shinpachi would be nervous about approaching the subject to you, I mean he knows that his fellow samurai are also taking an interest in the proposal. Like Ryoma he knows that it is very much overbearing to be with many people in one day, so he would most of the time use his position to protect you and drive away any unwanted suitors, he would talk to your parents and he really tries his best to be on their good side and since Shinpachi is very strong he has to prove to your parents that he would never do anything to harm you.

Imagine Shinpachi Rescuing You In A Surprising Way
Shinpachi Nagakura X FemReader
Warnings: None just lots of fluff
Shinpachi was a man that didn't shirk his duties but on a particularly hot day on patrol he decided that a quick break in the new tea shop wouldn't hurt anything. The place was bustling with business but he was placed at a table rather quickly. He waited only for a moment when you, working as a waitress, was there to service him to the best of your ability.
"Welcome," you smiled warmly before bowing. "What can I get for the illustrious Shinsengumi captain?"
Taken aback by you it took Shinpachi awhile just to form the words of the order he wanted to place. "I'll take sake if you have it."
"While we do have sake," you answered, "shouldn't a warrior such as yourself refrain from drinking on the job?"
Shinpachi shrugged, "What the boss won't know won't hurt him."
"Very well," you bowed turning to get his order. Shinpachi didn't have to wait long before you set a cup before him but instead of sake it was a strong tea.
"I do apologize but I can't give you alcohol in good faith. Please forgive me."
Shinpachi couldn't stay mad your beauty taking everything he could ever say from him. He remained quiet staring at the cup before you sat a plate down as well.
"I didn't," he started to say but you cut him off.
"On the house," you winked. "Please enjoy." Once again you bowed turning to service another table. Shinpachi smiled at the plate of dango and the tea he didn't order.
He started coming regularly and the tea instead of sake became an inside joke between the two of you. Shinpachi wouldn't let the other women at the shop wait on him, only you. He'd fallen for you so fast but he kept that hidden. He became a regular which had his friends in the Shinsengumi curious. Sanosuke had come on patrol with Shinpachi just to see what the fuss was about. Naturally the tea shop was bustling but they were shown a table immediately. Seeing Shinpachi you finished your task and made your way to his table. Seeing someone new sitting with him, you could tell he was also a Shinsengumi captain due to the haori he wore.
"Nice to see you again and nice to meet you," you bowed formally. "What may I get you today?" Of course Shinpachi ordered sake as was the custom as did his friend. Nodding your head with a knowing smile you got the usual. Once you set the two tea glasses down Shinpachi chuckled seeing Harada's confused look. Bowing once more you continued on checking the other tables.
"I see why you come here everyday now," Sanosuke said taking a sip of tea.
"She's a spitfire though," Shinpachi sighed unable to take his eyes from you.
"I thought we ordered sake."
"Don't question it," Shinpachi waved the question off, unwilling to let Harada in on the joke. Harada shrugged enjoying his tea when your shout cut through the busy atmosphere.
Rouge samurai had grabbed onto you forcing you to stay at their table.
"Listen you we fight for your freedom you should be grateful and honored to serve us," one samurai smiled viciously.
"Yeah," another butted in, "you should feel honored we want to spend a little time with you."
"You owe us a little gratitude," the third one said.
"While I thank you for your service for this quaint town, my job is not to take care of such desires gentlemen, but I'm sure the women in the surrounding brothels would be more than happy to thank you for your service in the way that you so desire," you bowed taking your leave only to be yanked back into one of the men's lap. His mouth found it's way to your neck as his fingers found the strings to your kimono. Lashing out and clawing you fought trying to find your freedom when a large firm hand grabbed your arm and yanked you from the handsy man. A mouth firmly pressed onto yours, you found yourself reaching back to slap your attacker when you opened your eyes to see Shinpachi. You relaxed knowing the hot headed Shinsengumi was only looking out for you albeit in the most unconventional way. Releasing you he glared at the uncomfortable men. Seeing that they angered one of the Shinsengumi they hurried from their table before fleeing for their lives.
After the ruckus settled Shinpachi looked to you still in his arms. He released you immediately stepping back before blushing bright red. The whole lot of customers stared in awe at the large man who had just kissed their waitress and Harada still sitting down could only sit in awe while tea spilled from his lopsided held cup.
"U-um I'm sorry that I didn't ask," Shinpachi stuttered. "It was just that-that they..." He bowed hurriedly almost hitting his head on a table. "Forgive me," he shouted before bolting out the entrance. Harada stood up from his seat placing money upon the table to pay for his and Shinpachi's tea while leaving plenty to pay for the stuff the men that were scared off had and a decent tip for you. Still awestruck you watched Harada leave the store. Looking towards your boss he motioned to the door, that was all you needed before racing off to catch up with the retreating Shinsengumi captain.
Sanosuke found Shinpachi in an alleyway not too far from the shop. Harada slapped Shinpachi on the back who's complexion was still a bright red.
"Good going you finally made a move," Harada chuckled. "Though it wasn't the most gentlemanly thing to do."
"What am I going to do Sanosuke she's gotta hate me now," Shinpachi whined. "That was my new favorite place to! I'll never be able to show my face in there ever again!"
Even though Shinpachi was being really loud Harada could hear hurried steps coming their way. He sensed no danger and he smirked when you came around the corner.
"Heh I wouldn't be so sure there Shinpachi."
Shinpachi looked up almost falling backwards seeing you standing before him and Sanosuke your chest heaving trying to gather air into your starved lungs. With a small wave Sanosuke took his leave.
"Good luck," he chuckled leaving Shinpachi alone with you. Once alone and moments of silence passed Shinpachi was at a lost.
"Listen I...," he started to say before you bolted forward shocking him with your speed. But what really took him by surprise was you were kissing him. Seconds passed him by your soft lips upon his causing him to shiver all over. His sword calloused hands wrapped around you holding you tightly. You broke from the kiss but still embracing him," I like you Shinpachi-kun. Thank you for helping me back there."
"You're not mad," he cringed.
"Of course not. I didn't know a rough and tough Shinsengumi could kiss so tenderly." His facial expression made you giggle. "So if you would like please come back to the shop so I can give you a more formal thank you."
"Forget the formalities I'll settle for another kiss," he hooted taking your mouth once more. Once he had his fill Shinpachi allowed himself to be lead back to the tea shop where you treated him to a cup of tea and dango. You knew from then on out that the Shinsengumi were more than meets the eye.

Birthday Pleasures
Sanosuke Harada x Reader
Oral Sex, Toys, Vaginal Sex
Summary: @spoonbae‘s raffle fic is finally here, and since her birthday was yesterday why not celebrate it with her fic being birthday sex with Sanosuke hehe.
Silence permeated the room for a moment as you looked over the wrapping of the gift in front of you, glancing off to the side where your friend who’d handed you the gift seemed to suddenly avoid eye-contact.
“If you keep taking your time, I’ll be waiting forever for you to get to my gift,” Sanosuke, an arm draped over your shoulder, leaned in and murmured his words into your ear, the low rumble of his voice running a chill down your spine that you tried to shrug off while surrounded by friends to celebrate your birthday.
“Alright alright,” you said with a dismissive wave of your hand.
Taking a quick look at the tiny, attached card to your gift, you peeked inside to read what your friend had scribbled on the inside, signed with her name.
‘BTW I bought it before you and Sanosuke got together!!!’
Perplexed, you glanced over to your friend, who seemed to still be trying to avoid looking directly at you, as well as embarrassed. The look said enough to give you some sort of concern as to what it was she’d gifted you.
But your curiosity had been piqued, so with your thumbs tucked into folds of the wrapping, you pulled away at it, allowing any bits of the paper to fall to the ground.
The sight of your friend’s gift immediately had you hot in the face.
While it did say “Personal Massager”, just about anyone could figure out what it was you were holding by the images on the box. First, you looked at your friend, whose hands covered her face, then at Sanosuke, whose expression seemed to shift but didn’t quite give away what he might be thinking. The tiny smile at the corner of his mouth gave you an idea, though.
A few chuckles from friends in the room broke some silence, but the first person to say anything had been Shinpachi, who boldly reached forward and practically snatched the box from your hands.
“A back massager? That’s pretty nice! I could use something like this.”
A cacophony of laughter erupted, and the friend who’d gifted you what most aware people would recognize as a Hitachi wand seemed to squeak and shrink herself as if to try and not draw any attention. Nagakura seemed confused, along with Heisuke who wasn’t laughing, though his cheeks were red and he had a puzzled expression.
For a moment, you couldn’t help but hide your own face in your hands as well. The gift itself didn’t cause embarrassment but Shinpachi drawing a lot more attention to it certainly left you some level of mortified.
“You should really learn what that is if you want to see improvement in your experiences with women, Shin,” Harada murmured with a sigh, although he too seemed relatively entertained by what went over Nagakura’s head.
His amber eyes fixated on your briefly, something intense in the way Sano locked eyes with you. It was something unlike what you’d been used to with the laid-back man, but you tried to shrug it off and laugh along with your friends at the situation, and thank your friend for her gift which you most certainly appreciated, circumstances of being at a party with friends aside.
---
“You’re a little extra forward, Sano,” you murmured the moment your body gently hit the mattress of your bed, Harada climbing on top of you. The red flush across his face said all you really needed to know, that the redhead was at that perfect little level of playful drunk.
“Do you mind?” He asked nonchalantly, rough calloused hands slipping beneath your shirt to promptly work it up your torso, revealing the skin of your stomach to the cool air.
Reaching a hand out to him, you caressed his soft red hair before spinning a single lock around your index finger, twirling the soft tresses absentmindedly before releasing him to allow for your shirt to be pulled up and off.
“Of course not,” you giggled as Harada leaned into you and placed teasing nip-laced kisses to the bare skin of your neck, “but I get the feeling there’s a little bit of jealousy at play here.”
Sanosuke shrugged, continuing to make steady progress at having you stripped beneath him, fingers curling at the waistband of your pants before tugging them down. He worked his way lower as he did, grazing plush lips downward to your chest, you could feel him smile against you.
“Not jealous,” he clarified, getting your pants down to your hips before you needed to shimmy out of the bottoms and kick them off the edge of your feet, “It just made me think there’s something I should have done for you awhile ago.”
A hand making its way behind you, to your back, it took little effort— simply a quick flicking-like movement for Sanosuke to have your bra unclasped, pulling the undergarment off to expose your breasts to his amber-eyed gaze. The cool air made your nipples begin to perk up, and Harada was quick to give them attention, parting his lips as he dipped further down to take the perky nub into the warmth of his mouth.
Tongue rolling around your nipple, his hand moved along to your other breast, giving it a gentle squeeze before a rough thumb began to flick and tease in time with the motions of his tongue.
Meanwhile, Harada’s other hand trailed the length of your waist to find its way to the last piece of clothing covering your body.
“Still looks like jealousy to me,” you teased, letting out a sharp exhale as Sanosuke used his lips to tug playfully at your nipple. You could feel him chuckle in a low rumble, the vibrations of it sending a tingle of pleasure through your body that made its way between your legs just in time for Harada’s fingers to slip past the hem of your underwear.
“Maybe,” he murmured with a shrug, releasing the suction of his mouth around you, lowering himself further down your body. Sanosuke’s objective became particularly obvious, as he left a trail of kisses in the wake of his path until his face was directly in front of your cunt. You opened your legs invitingly, but felt a nervous anticipation.
The thin layer of fabric did little to dull the sensation of Harada’s hot breath as he hovered just about you, his fingertips absentmindedly playing with the waistband of your underwear, joined by his other hand on the opposing side, like he was toying with whether or not to finally pull them down.
“I can’t believe you’re teasing me on my birthday,” you whined, shifting your hips so that you were closer to Sanosuke’s warm mouth. He responded in kind by withdrawing from you, and instead bringing his lips to your thighs, kissing delicately before using his teeth to playfully tug at the sensitive skin.
On the one hand, Harada had never been one to take teasing too far, instead he’d always been interested in making sure you were getting just as much pleasure as you wanted. On the other, he had never gone down on you, and the confidently mischievous glint in his heavy-lidded amber eyes made it clear he was going to draw out every little bit of enjoyment he could.
“The tease is part of the gift,” he mused, fingers finally curling more tightly around your underwear to finally pull them down your legs, allowing you to kick them off to fall wherever they would land, and leaving you completely bare to Sanosuke. “I’ll be sure to show you what just my mouth can do.”
Using two fingers, Harada gently nudged your labia apart to further expose your already visibly aroused cunt, seemingly taking a moment to take in the sight before finally the heat of his mouth was up against you, tongue poking past his lips to give a few experimental broad strokes along your slit.
The shiver that ran down your spine from the contact made your legs almost immediately snap closed around Sanosuke, drawing a groan of approval that rumbled in his chest as his lips circled around your clit, the suction sending another pleasant shiver through your body that made you whimper.
Shifting his position to properly accommodate himself, Harada slid his muscular arms beneath your thighs, wrapping around them to firmly tug you down more flush against his mouth.
It took all of a few seconds for Sanosuke to trail and flick his tongue so perfectly to get you moaning, your back arched on the bed while his face moved along with the circular patterns he drew with his tongue.
Keeping true to his word, he only used his mouth, tugging and sucking with his lips to get you to tense up and using his tongue to practically turn your limbs to jelly.
“S-Sanosuke…” you whimpered, your body reflexively wiggling which only served to have Harada tighten his grip to keep you still, “f-fuck Sano… hhaah t-that’s so… so good.”
As your sounds of pleasure started to increase in volume and frequency, he withdrew contact and simply exhaled warm breath against you in a tease that nearly felt painful as you ached for him to continue the work of his skillful tongue.
He watched with a self-satisfied—and more playful than his usual self— expression while your hips rolled in a clear sign you needed him to give you more, until deciding you were ready to be slowly worked up again.
Expert laps of his tongue quickly brought you back just as high as he’d left you before, each stroke making you mewl and whimper as the tight knot of pleasure in your stomach bordered on unbearable.
And then he stopped again.
“Please Sano,” you urged, trying to move your cunt closer to his mouth but meeting resistance as his arms kept your lower half still, “don’t stop…”
“So it feels good?” He teased, lips finding your inner thigh to pepper kisses along the expanse of skin.
“Of course it d-does,” your impatience was clear in your voice, and perhaps that reaction was what caused Harada to release his grip on your thighs and pull himself back up from between your legs.
“H-hey…” you pouted, watching Sanosuke lick off the remnants of your arousal from his lips seductively enough you were sure it was intentional.
In a swift movement you could hardly follow, he had his shirt off, and as much as you had already missed his tongue you were more than happy to be just a little bit less impatient with what he had in store at the sight of his bare chest.
Though you tried to reach for him to assist in removing his pants, Harada gently nudged your hand away with a gentle ‘tsk’, leaving you to simply watch while he pulled his bottoms off as well, bringing his underwear off along with them and freeing his visibly hard cock.
“I think we’re missing one thing,” he murmured, slowly positioning himself on the bed so that he was on his knees between your legs, his length resting lightly against your reddened, sensitive cunt. He pulled your thighs to rest over his parted knees, an ideal position for each of his movements to cause friction from his cock against you.
Reaching past you to the nightstand, your eyes followed Harada’s arm to see him plugging something in the wall, a white cord you’d recognized as being attached to the wand from earlier.
After opening gifts, the toy had been a bit of a joke for conversation, where Shinpachi in particular had finally learned exactly what some people liked to use them for, during which it had been taken out of the box.
Swallowing nervously, you gave Sanosuke a sheepish grin.
“Really?”
“Yes really,” he affirmed, bringing the toy between the both of your bodies so that it hovered over your clit. “For your birthday, of course.”
His free hand grasped the base of his cock, guiding it to slide up and down your wet slit and coating the tip with your arousal.
First, he pushed the head of his cock only your whole, gently biting into his lower lip as the warm tight sensation of your hole enveloped him. He stopped short of fully sliding into you, leaning forward and using a hand to brace himself against the bed so that he could take your lips in a gentle, firm kiss.
“Now let’s see how much pleasure I can watch across that pretty face.”
Sanosuke turned on the toy with an audible click of the switch.
The loud buzzing made it hard to hear any of the usual subtle noises, but the strength of the vibration of your already sensitive clit had your gasping and moaning right away, fingers clenching into the sheets while your other hand found Harada’s forearm to hold tightly.
His thrusts started shallow, but he didn’t spend too much time teasing that way, instead he quickened his pace, dialing up the intensity of your pleasure so much so that he brought you to the edge right away, your jaw clenched as you tried to resist how close you were.
“S-sa-sanosuke… it’s… t-too much haaa-Ahh…” you cried out, trying to move yourself away from the vibrating head of the toy.
Perhaps encouraged by your already desperate noises, Sanosuke’s thrusts became rough enough to push your body upwards on the bed with each time he buried himself into you, making your head spin drunk on pleasure.
It felt like a miracle you hadn’t cum right away, like the toy kept you entirely on the edge but wouldn’t quite bring you over it yet.
“Feels good, doesn’t it?” Sanosuke asked in breathy huffs, locks of hair falling in front of his face and obstructing his vision as he continued to nearly slam himself into you, “I know it does because you’re clenching around me so tight.”
“Ngh- it..it’s really…r-really good…” you whined, feeling your eyes stinging with tears as you were suspended right over the edge almost painfully so.
“Then cum for me,” he said his words gently, like an encouragement rather than an order, his thumb flicking the toy’s switch with a loud click.
Right as the intensity of the vibrations had gone up, that feeling of being suspended dropped, your eyes rolling and your mouth parting to let our a series of climactic moans as the wand’s vibrations forced out intense waves of your oragsm.
“S-Sanosuke! Ff..haaah, fuck, f-fuck… Sano…!” You nearly squealed in delight, your muscles tense as you tried to keep yourself from failing, hips twitching all the while Harada didn’t relent. By the time you could tell he was groaning in intense pleasure you were already seeing stars, but you could feel him bury himself into your cunt as he cursed; his own expression clearly contorted with pleasure.
Harada kept the wand held firmly against your clit, while he came inside your rapidly tightening walls. He kept a grip with his free hand on your hip, holding more tightly than even he might have liked as the vibrations were strong enough to even give Sanosuke himself an added pleasure.
As you came down, the strong vibrations proved to be too much and your body tried to jerk away from the toy, much too sensitive for almost any sort of contact. Sanosuke caught on quickly, flicking the wand off and tossing it onto the bed.
His chest—glistening in the dim light with sweat— rose and fell steadily as he remained still inside you, twitching just slightly while he came down from his own climax. It took time for you to catch your own breath, as if you had nearly forgotten how to breathe through the mind-blowing ordeal of being fucked by Sanosuke with that powerful toy against you.
Harada looked down at you with a clearly fond expression, withdrawing himself slowly as if trying not to cause too much overstimulation as he did.
“You look amazing like this,” he murmured, pulling himself out from between your legs and slowly lowering himself onto the bed next to you.
“Sweaty, messy, and maybe with a little bit of drool?” You asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Yeah, just like that.”

Do you have estimates of the character ages? Noda-sensei tends to draw his men looking mostly like 25-30. Thank you.
In regard to the ages
I’ve the following info taken from a Golden Kamuy central twitter
Extra question 10 (Nov. 29, 2017)
Many readers asked this, so Noda-sensei gave us the relative ages of the characters using < and ≒.A < B means A is younger than BA ≒ B means A and B are close in age.
Q09: In the age comparison of characters that you gave before, where do newcomers head jailer Kadokura and Usami fit in?
A: Usami is a bit older than Ogata. Kadokura is maybe a bit older than Ushiyama
Then in New Year interview with Golden Kamuy staff! (Director) Nanba Hitoshi x (series composition) Takagi Noboru we learnt this bit.
Namba: Because Sugimoto is the protagonist that moves this work along, we auditioned a lot of people regardless they’re famous or not. As for the reason why we chose Kobayashi-san, in short he came closest to the image of Sugimoto. Although at first I thought it’s better to choose someone with more career experience as the protagonist, Noda-sensei told me Sugimoto’s age, and it was younger than I had expected. So if (Sugimoto) is in his early twenties, wouldn’t it better to find someone with a young kind of voice?
History tells us that Hijikata Toshizō had birth on May 31, 1835 while Nagakura Shinpachi had birth on May 23, 1839.Therefore if Golden Kamuy started around 1907 they should be respectively around 72 and 68.
Ienaga Kano shares the same age with Nagakura so she should be around 68.
Ushiyama comments Yōichirō is older than both Hijikata and Nagakura so he could be above 72... though this is just Ushiyama's perception of his age (Hijikata is perceived as young despite his age to the point people comment he ate mermaid flesh and even Nagakura isn't that bad, Yōichirō instead had grown senile and seems just a decrepit old man... unless you are to attack him). Okada Izō, on which Yōichirō was based was born in 1838, which would make him older than Nagakura but younger than Hijikata... though we can't be sure Yōichirō and Okada Izō share the same age.
Golden Kamuy also tells us Kiroranke was 15 in 1881, when he murdered the emperor with Wilk so he should have had birth in 1866 (same as Tsurumi as they share the same age). Therefore if Golden Kamuy started around 1907 they should be around 41.
At all this we can add some extra historical info.
Hanazawa Yūsaku is a Second Lieutenant during the Russo-Japanese war, apparently fresh of academy. At that time one would become a Second Lieutenant when he graduated from the Imperial Japanese Army Academy which would happen when one is around 21. Being promoted to First Lieutenant would normally take 3 years.
So Yūsaku is in between 21 and 23 in 1904 (the year in which the Russo-Japanese war started) and therefore was born in between 1881 and 1883.
When Yūsaku had birth Ogata Hyakunosuke was still a baby…
…so his age difference from Yūsaku isn’t that big, let’s say a year or two.
This would make Ogata’s age in between 22 and 25 when Yuusaku was alive so he would have had birth in between 1879 and 1882.
It’s speculated Golden Kamuy starts in 1907 or short after it, meaning we have to add at least 3 more years to get Ogata’s age at the start of Golden Kamuy. As a result we can speculate that, at the beginning of Golden Kamuy he’s in between 25 and 28.
Why this is relevant?
Ogata is a superior private, while Sugimoto and Tanigaki are first class privates.
A recruit entering the Army is given the rank of 2nd-dass private and, as a rule, is automatically promoted to 1st-class private after 6 months. According to regulations, the minimum time in which promotion may be made from 1st-class private to superior private is one year. Qualified 1st-class privates however have been promoted to the superior grade within 6 months.
This means that Sugimoto Saichi, Tanigaki Genjirō and Nikaidō Yōhei and Nikaidō Kōhei are around a year younger than Ogata. This would make them of an age that goes from 24 to 27.
Now, since Noda sensei said Sugimoto is supposed to be in his early 20 let’s go with a 24, which would make Ogata 25 at the start of Golden Kamuy (time has gone by so they probably had had all the time to get at least a year older).
Koito Otokonoshin, who didn’t take part to the Russo-Japanese war is likely fresh of academy and therefore when Golden Kamuy starts he’s probably around 21 or, at most 22.
Why not 23? Because if at least a year has gone by Koito would be ready to be promoted.
Differently from Tsurumi who, despite being an amazing intelligence officer, is still stuck at First Lieutenant, Koito comes from the right background that normally made easy for him to automatically get promoted because he would be expected to later continue his military education at the War College, the pinnacle of the Army educational system, and Koito couldn’t enter in it if he isn’t a Captain with at least two years (but not more than six years) of field experience as a first lieutenant.
Remember how Koito senior wanted his son to have field experience? it’s also due to this.
Edogai Yasaku is Koito's age so he's also around 21/22.
Asirpa at the start of Golden Kamuy should be over 11.
We’re told her father is ‘dead’ by 5 years but before dying he had managed to give her her adult name and considering he seemed to be used to call her as such it’s not something he did just before disappearing.
Asirpa told us that children in her Ainu village get their real names once they turn 6, so she was 6 or, likely, older when he father disappeared which makes her over 11. The pimp speculates she's around 12/13 at the start of the story.
We know Asirpa is nearly of the age to get a tattoo but I wish Golden Kamuy had said when in Asirpa’s village women needed to be tattooed because it sadly vary from village to village (in some villages they start at 6!) so this doesn’t help us much.
Age of marriage was 15 to 16 years but I think although Asirpa’s grandma told Sugimoto to marry Asirpa, she’s not meaning RIGHT NOW but in the future (Ainu could promise a not yeat of age girl to a man and then he would wait for her to be of age before marrying her) as I doubt Asirpa is already 15 when the story starts (she looks so terribly young).
That’s all I could find.
It’s worth to say there’s either an error somewhere or a retcon because Kadokura has officially watched over Nopperabo for 7 YEARS... but at most less than a year has gone by from when Sugimoto and Asirpa met. Even assuming it wasn’t exactly 5 years but 5 years and some months from when her father disappeared, this would mean Kadokura should have watched over Nopperabo for 6 years, not 7.
Tsukishima Hajime took part to the First Sino-Japanese War (25 July 1894 – 17 April 1895). Assuming he was around Sugimoto's age when this happened, this would make him 10 years older than Sugimoto so so he is probably around 34.
Nihei Tetsuzō is a bit harder to pin but we can use some historical information to get a vague idea of his age.
Nihei had many kids but his first child seems to be a daughter (when he brought her on the veranda to sleep we see no other smaller children sleeping with her there), so his only male son should have been at least a second born son or younger.
His son took part to the First Sino-Japanese War (25 July 1894 – 17 April 1895) and died there, so he was probably around 20 when he died.
Assuming Nihei married after 20 and his firstborn daughter was born after a year (he seems older than 21 when she's taking a nap to be honest so he was likely older) and his son the year after this would make Nihei born at his latest in 1852. Therefore if Golden Kamuy started around 1907 the youngest he can be is 55 while, being younger than Nagakura and Ienaga, the oldest he can be is 67.
Osoma is below 6 as Asirpa told us that children in her Ainu village get their real names once they turn 6, while Cikapasi is clearly above it as Cikapasi is his adult name.
My bet would be he's 9. Why? Because we know his parents died of smallpox and there was an epidemic of smallpox in 1904/05. Assuming they died in 1904 by 1904 he needed to be at least 6 so they could give him an adult name, hence he would need to be born in 1898. This would make him around 9 when Golden Kamuy started.
So... no idea. We’ll see if we’ll get better info in the future.
I hope it helps and thank you for the ask!

Ask Box Open
Well the majority has spoken. I am emptying the ask box and opening it for new requests. Please remember to read the rules before requesting as I am updating them slightly.
1. I will do a maximum of 3 characters for headcanon requests. For scenarios I will only do 1 character per request since I tend to write a lot.
2. NSFW requests are very welcome. Bring on the smut and angst! I’ll write almost any kink to be honest. If you do request something that is NSFW please specify what genitals the s/o or reader has otherwise I’ll keep it gender neutral as possible.
3. If no gender is specified within a request I’m making everything gender neutral.
4. I will not write non-con/rape, pedophilia, or anything with too much gore. If any request makes me uncomfortable I will let you know and add it to this list. I’m generally down for anything since angst is my love. I will however put a trigger warning at the top of what I write if I think it might disturb or affect someone negatively.
5. I don’t really do character x character ships. Instead I do character x s/o or character x reader. I generally don’t feel very confident in writing things like that and I definitely don’t want to get involved in ship wars.
6. As a reminder I have the right to not accept a request if I choose not to. This is my blog and I am choosing to write for free.
7. I am not going to be writing for the older characters. This includes Hijikita, Ienaga, or Nagakura.

Desires - Hakuoki Fanfiction - Chapter 11

Hello readers!
How are you? I hope that all of you are doing good. Here's the next chapter of the story. And thank to @impracticaldemon for editing this chapter ^^
About the picture: of course you have to read the story to know what had made the oni-fukuchou furrowing his brows like that :3
Chapter of the stories:
Prequel - Prologue - I - II - III - IV - V - VI - VII - VIII - IX - X
@hijichiweek @kirakirachiizuru
Miyuu
-XI-
Winter had come again. This time the temperature was definitely dropping, cold enough for anyone to see their breath if they breathed out. Not to mention that the harsh, cold wind made everybody wish to be always inside their home instead of going out and having to do their job. Likewise, the members of the Shinsengumi that recently had moved to Fudodo Village, hoped that their on-guard duty would finish soon so they could get inside. Because of the cold weather, it was getting hard to wake up in the morning these days. If not for the fear of a certain oni fukuchou if they dared to slack behind his back…
After the incident with the oni at the temple, the monks in Nishihongwanji asked (forced) the Shinsengumi to leave the temple. Not good news to hear on the morning right after the unfortunate incident. Kondou had sour face when he came inside the common room and informed to the rest of the captains about the matter. But in the end, they still complied with the 'request' and had moved to Fudodo Village.
There were several events that followed.
Chizuru had met someone that looked exactly like her. She was with Okita, who was on patrol duty at that time. That someone was a beautiful ojou, and the pretty kimono that the woman wore enhanced her beauty, in Chizuru's opinion. The woman introduced herself as Nagumo Kaoru. The encounter had made her conscious of her appearance that at that time wore hakama. Even though the encounter was brief, it had left a strong impression on Chizuru for some unknown reason.
For the Shinsengumi itself, some changes had happened inside the force. In the beginning, when their name was still Roshigumi, the Shinsengumi was only a special police force that was founded to protect Shogunate representatives in Kyoto at a time when a controversial imperial edict to exclude foreign trade from Japan had been made. The squad consisted of many ronins drawn from the sword schools of Edo. But around the time that the Shinsengumi moved to Fudodo Village, Kondou got promoted and became a Hatamoto, a samurai in the direct service of the Shogunate. Now the Shinsengumi became the Shogun's vassals, directly answered to the Shogunate. Not only philosophically aligned with the Shogun. For some people that was a serious problem. Several men, maybe the imperialists that didn't follow Itou, had wanted to leave. Some of them had been given permission to go, but others were told that wasn't option and were forced into the Rasetsu squad. Even not all the captains in the Shinsengumi were happy with the change. Like Harada and Nagakura.
In the political world, a man name Sakamoto Ryouma had caused a rift that involved the Shogunate and the Emperor at that time. It was said that Sakamoto had figured out a way for the Emperor to regain power without destroying the Shogunate. Unfortunately, in doing so, he managed to anger both the loyalist and imperialist factions. He was a wanted man. At one time the Shinsengumi was desperate to find him. But for unknown reason, later there were orders that passed down to leave him alone. The Shinsengumi complied with the order. Then one day Sakamoto Ryouma was found dead, said to be assassinated. Not only that, a scabbard of a Shinsengumi member was said to have been found at the scene of his death, Harada's to be exact. Within the Shinsengumi itself, no one believed that Harada had killed Sakamoto. They knew that they were being framed, but because of their infamous reputation, the rest of the nation was unlikely to see it the other way.
The Shinsengumi also worried about Sannan's activity at night. There were rumors about the night patrol. And not good ones. Sannan and the rasetsu squad were given the duty to do the night patrol. Apparently, they also did something beside their patrol duty. Only some members in the Shinsengumi knew about the existence of rasetsu, namely the higher-ranking members. They didn't want even more people knowing about the rasetsu. And this conclusion led them to do something drastic. They planned to assassinate Itou Kashitarou.
Itou knew of the existence of the rasetsu and it looked like he planned to expose their existence. That and because of one other reason the Shinsengumi decided to eliminate him. Itou wanted to kill Kondou. The two pieces of information came from a very trustworthy source, who was none other than Saitou. Apparently, Saitou joined Itou's faction because of a direct order given to him from Hijikata. Only Hijikata and Kondou knew about this. The Shinsengumi captains were very shocked when one day Hijikata and Kondou came to the common room followed by Saitou. They explained what happened then. Hijikata said that the one that indirectly framed the Shinsengumi for the assassination of Sakamoto Ryouma was Itou's group, which they knew courtesy of Saitou.
Then, with the same mouth that had given Chizuru a passionate and heated kiss that night in Shimabara, the same mouth that had comforted her when she felt down and told her not to blame herself not too long ago when Saitou and Heisuke left the Shinsengumi to join Itou's faction, the same mouth that had spoken the promise that he would protect her in front of Kazama… With that same mouth was delivered the cold word to end Itou's life.
"It's too bad it has to be this way, but we don't have a choice. Itou dies." The voice of the oni was what Chizuru thought when she heard Hijikata speak those words, which she quoted in her mind. His cold voice and narrowed gaze made Hijikata live up to his infamous title, oni-fukuchou. But for some unknown reason, Chizuru was not afraid of that Hijikata. Even though that was the first time that she heard Hijikata plan to kill someone directly in front of her… No, she was not afraid with this Hijikata. It just made her realize that Hijikata was really a man that dedicated to the Shinsengumi. No… Not to the Shinsengumi, but to Kondou Isami. She had a hunch that what drove Hijikata to assassinate Itou was not because of his plan to expose the rasetsu. The last straw was because Itou wanted to kill Kondou.
She could see that her beloved man looked up to the Chief of the Shinsengumi so much and dared she say that Hijikata put Kondou high up on a pedestal in his mind. He would do anything for Kondou.
She had made a bond with a man that is loyal and dedicated. Not to mention a very responsible one. If she ever told Hijikata about their situation regarding their bond, she knew she wouldn't be able to live with the guilty feeling of forcing Hijikata to leave Kondou and the Shinsengumi. She knew that Hijikata would take responsibility for her situation. But in doing so, he would have to leave the Shinsengumi and Kondou. He had accidentally revealed his ideal of having his own family to Chizuru, if someday he was permitted to have one, on that fateful night in Shimabara. He told her there that he didn't want his family to be involved in anything that had to do with the Shinsengumi's matters. That's why she chose to keep silent and would take the bond matter to her grave, if she could.
She was too deeply in love with a man named Hijikata Toshizou and she was willing to do maybe almost anything, so that he could receive the best result for him.
And regarding Itou's matter, even though she knew that what they would do was considered as a dirty job, she still wanted to take part in it. She wanted to help them… to help him, to achieve his goal. Kondou didn't want to involve Chizuru but she was persistent to help. She said that she considered herself as a member of the Shinsengumi. In the end, it was agreed that Chizuru would assist Hijikata. Hijikata was the one that said that Chizuru would help him lure Itou into the trap. Her choice was only that or helping the others with the killing job. Hijikata didn't want Chizuru to get near the battle ground. She was stubborn and when her mind was set on something, she wouldn't back down. That's why he told her to go with him. While doing his job, he could protect Chizuru if anything happened. As the proverb said, killing two birds with one stone.
While doing their job to assassinate Itou, the Shinsengumi was also trying to bring Heisuke back to the Shinsengumi. Long story short, they succeeded on killing Itou. Later, the incident would be known as the Aburano Koji incident. And Heisuke rejoined the Shinsengumi. But there was a catch. Heisuke was badly injured when he arrived at the Shinsengumi headquarters with the rest of the members. His wound was very severe and deep. The only way for him to live was to drink the ochimizu and become a rasetsu. Heisuke was declared dead for the outside world, while the truth was he had become a rasetsu.
The final event was that, at last, Chizuru met with Yukimura Kodou, her missing father. And not only that. The woman that looked like her, Nagumo Kaoru, was also there, standing beside her father. In fact, she was the one that lured Chizuru out from the Shinsengumi headquarters to meet with Kodou.
"Otou-San…!" Chizuru said surprised looking at her missing father.
"How are you, Chizuru?" Kodou said in his soft tone, the way he always talked to Chizuru.
Chizuru was very happy to be able to see and meet her father again, but that feeling didn't last for long. Kodou told Chizuru he came to ask her to come with him, leaving the Shinsengumi. She was confused of course. Instead of complying with her father wishes, she asked her father about things that had been bugging her since she knew of her father's involvement with the Rasetsu matter. And the answer was not something that she expected or wanted to hear.
She learned two important pieces of information from the meeting. The first was Kodou told her that he wasn't her real father and she was the reason of why he had made the concoction, the Ochimizu, to create the Rasetsu. Kodou wanted to have his revenge on the humans for the assassination of the Yukimura clan. He decided to make an army of a fake Oni and the one that would lead them was Chizuru. Chizuru was very shocked when she heard this revelation.
Then Chizuru asked Kodou if the Rasetsu could be turned back into normal humans again.
His answer was 'No'.
This was the second important thing that Kodou told Chizuru. Before, Kodou told her that it was because of her that the rasetsu was created… and now, he told her that nothing could turn them back to normal… She felt guilt overwhelm her body that instant. And when the second piece of information completely sank into her mind, her knees lost the strength to hold her body and slowly her body dropped to the ground… if not for the strong arms that caught her weak body.
The arms that caught her were Hijikata's. He had followed Chizuru without being seen when he saw her walk out from the compound. He had watched her silently since the incident inside the Nishihongwanji temple. He didn't know if the others noticed Chizuru's condition or not, but since that incident she had this far-off look when she thought that she was alone. She looked like she was deep in her thoughts and would heave a deep sigh, almost all the times. One time, he thought that she would cry, because she looked very dejected. He swore that he even heard a sniffling sound coming from the girl. Hijikata found himself wanting to hug and comfort Chizuru several times when she looked like that. But, because he was Hijikata, the oni-fukuchou of the Shinsengumi…. In the end he took back his outstretched hand that wanted to embrace the only girl in the Shinsengumi.
He stood not too far from where Chizuru was when he saw that her attention was on something else and then she went to follow a shadowy figure that he couldn't see from where he was. Then he hid himself when he saw the person that stood not far from Chizuru. 'Kodou-san,' he thought surprised. After that he stood still, listening to the conversation between Chizuru and Kodou. Until he made himself known when he saved Chizuru from falling to the ground.
"Long time no see, Kodou-san," he said curtly.
"Hijikata-kun. I see you have followed Chizuru." Kodou humoured the oni-fukuchou.
"Cut the chit-chat. Where were you and what do you want?"
"I know that you listened to the conversation between me and Chizuru." As Kodou answered Hijikata's questions, Hijikata narrowed his eyes, giving his icy glare to the supposed doctor.
"This girl in under the protection of the Shinsengumi now. And with the things that you have said to her before, I will not allow her to go with you."
The two then exchanged a hostile gaze.
"Oji-san. I don't want Chizuru to be with that man." Kodou's companion spoke suddenly, also giving Hijikata a frown. "Let just take Chizuru and go from here. Willingly or not. After all, humans are not worthy for Chizuru."
'Just where have I heard that same sentence, huh?' Hijikata scoffed internally. A blond oni with red eyes flashed in his mind.
"Kaoru-kun." Kodou averted his gaze from Hijikata and looked at his companion. "Be patient. Chizuru has said that she doesn't want to go with us. But I think that's for the better for now. The armies are not ready. We would come get her if it's ready."
"Let's go."
With that said, Kaoru unsheathed her kodachi from her waist. A gust of wind enveloped them. And just like that, before Kodou answered the questions about his reason for the sudden disappearing act from the Shinsengumi and his whereabouts when he was missing, he vanished from sight, with the help of Kaoru.
Hijikata wanted to chase after them but he could feel that Chizuru body had become limp. She was silent through the rest of the conversation. When he looked closer at the young woman, she was unconscious.
Carefully, he lifted Chizuru's body and carried her in his arms. He would deal with Kodou and that Kaoru kid later. There was a more pressing matter at hand that he had to attend to.
Tightening his grip around Chizuru's body, he carried her back to the headquarters.
---
When Chizuru opened her eyes later, she found herself in her room. She was confused as to why she was inside her room and futon. The last thing she remembered before she lost consciousness was her knees feeling very weak and her body dropping to the ground; but before it did, a strong pair of arms had caught her. Then she heard the voice of the owner of the strong arms. The voice that had taunted her mind day and night. The voice that belonged to him. That was the last thing that she remembered before she lost consciousness.
Then, she remembered the conversation that she had with Kodou. Her body went numb. It was liked her mind was shutting down and didn't want to process and acknowledge that piece of information that Kodou had told her about the whole rasetsu matter.
And for once in her life, she considered if there was a meaning for her to be with the Shinsengumi, or even worse, to be alive. All she had brought for the Shinsengumi since she had joined the force was trouble. She could list all the things that happened because of her, but she didn't want to be reminded of all the unfortunate incidents.
She sat inside her room; her face looked forlorn and very dejected. Then, her tears dropped one by one before streaming down fast and she found herself sobbing in the silent room. She buried her head inside her hands before the sobbing turned into wailing. She was so distraught with all the sadness and guilty feelings that overwhelmed her body in full force that she didn't notice a lone figure that stood outside her room… hearing all the cries that she was letting out inside her room.
That figure stayed until he couldn't hear anymore cries inside the young woman's room before he left.
---
In the days that followed after the eventful meeting with her supposed father, Chizuru found herself helping with any chores that she could find within the headquarters. She said that she was helping with the chores, but those that saw her would say that she was working herself to death with the amount of the things that she had done and would do. She woke early in the morning and went to sleep very late in the night. She asked every single members in the Shinsengumi if they might need her help doing something. And this went on for nearly two weeks.
The captains started looking at her with worried glances. Inoue even once told Chizuru that she was forcing herself with all the work that she was doing. Chizuru gave the elderly captain a small smile and told him that she enjoyed doing work and chores for the Shinsengumi. Then she had gone before Inoue could convince her to stop.
Chizuru knew that she was indeed forcing herself. With the cold wind and the dropping temperature, it was so hard for her frail body to do all the things that she had done. But she wanted to do this. She needed this for her body to function again. If she let her body to be still and not doing anything, her mind would drift into that thought again. This was her way, her answer, so she could let herself remain with the Shinsengumi.
But nature had different answer for her. With all the work that she had done, not to mention the lack of the rest that her body needed so much, it was just a matter of time before she collapsed. And what the captains had feared the most happened in front of their eyes.
Chizuru was serving tea to the captains (sans Heisuke, Sannan, Okita) in the common room. She felt so weak and her head was dizzy to the point that she felt her body sway many times. She felt so cold and yet her body had been sweating a lot since she had awoken that morning. When she got up from the kneeling position, her dizziness had come back tenfold and before she knew it, her vision was all black.
Harada, Nagakura, Inoue and Kondou had screamed Chizuru's name in panic when they saw the young woman's body dropping to the ground. Saitou wanted to catch Chizuru but he didn't act fast enough. When Chizuru had first come to the room, Hijikata had known that something was off about her. He had scrutinized and followed her every movement. And when her body was dropping to the ground, he was beside her already and caught her instantly.
"Chizuru-chan!/Yukimura-kun!/Yukimura!" The captains shouted Chizuru's name together.
Hijikata felt that Chizuru's body was very hot. When he put his palm to her head, he felt a burning sensation.
'She is burning with fever.'
"Toshi, what happened?" Kondou asked in concern.
"She is burning with fever," Hijikata repeated his thought to Kondou. He lifted Chizuru's body and carried her in his arms. "Saitou, tell Yamazaki to come to Yukimura's room." Without waiting for Saitou's answer, Hijikata exited the common room and went to Chizuru's room in silent hurry.
Saitou followed Hijikata's order and also stepped out to look for Yamazaki. The rest of the captains exchanged worried looks with each other. They were hoping that Chizuru's condition wasn't too bad and she would get better soon enough.
---
Chizuru opened her heavy eyes slowly. Her vision was still blurry, but she could figure out that she was in her room and inside her futon. Her mind was a bit foggy. She felt extremely weak.
'What happened?'
She wanted to move her body but a voice had stopped her movement.
"Stay still."
A voice with a commanding tone could be heard inside the silent room. It was stern yet also soft if that was possible. Chizuru turned to look at the owner of the voice. A figure sat beside her futon. She tried to focus her eyes on the figure. And when her vision was finally clear enough, she could see the figure's face.
"Hiji-kata-san…?" She asked weakly.
She was surprised to see Hijikata beside her bed. The said man looked back at her with an impassive face. But his eyes showed nothing but concern.
"You wake up at last," he said, and relief could be heard in his tone.
"You have been unconscious for two days."
"W-what?"
"You were burning with fever. And it didn't go down until a few hours ago. You have made all the captains worried about your condition." Hijikata informed Chizuru about the situation. "You scared most of them with the fainting incident inside the common room."
The thing that he didn't mention was that his heart had stopped for a second when he saw her body dropping to the ground. He really had felt that it had stopped for that second.
Chizuru then remembered what had happened. She felt another guilty feeling creep up inside her.
"…I am so-,"
"Stop." Hijikata cut off Chizuru's attempt to apologize. "If you know that you are wrong, that's enough. Just… don't ever do it again." Don't ever scare me like that again.
"But-,"
"Listen Yukimura. You said it yourself before that you consider yourself as a part of the Shinsengumi. And I have acknowledged it. One thing that you must have known that here in the Shinsengumi, you have to obey your superior's word. In this case, it's my word. No one ever dares to defy my word, as you should know. All you can do is say 'Yes, sir'."
Chizuru stayed silent upon hearing Hijikata's statement about his acknowledgement of her being a part of the Shinsengumi. She closed her eyes for a moment then opened them and looked directly into Hijikata's eyes. He stared back into her brown orbs.
"Hijikata-san?"
"Yes. What it is?"
"Can I really stay with the Shinsengumi?"
If he was surprised with her question, he didn't show any of it on his face. Instead he answered her back with a question and a solemn expression. "What do you mean?"
"You know what I mean."
"…."
Hijikata didn't reply to Chizuru's statement. They stared to each other for several moments before he heaved a sigh.
"Just rest and get better." He didn't elaborate more and somehow Chizuru knew that he wouldn't give any answer to her question for now. She also didn't push the question further; her body was still weak and she didn't have any energy to be her stubborn self.
"Are you leaving?" She asked him when she saw that he was ready to get up from his seated position.
"You have to rest and even if you don't realize it, it is midnight already." Honestly, Hijikata didn't want to leave Chizuru alone. Since the first time he brought her to her room and after Yamazaki examined her, there was always someone (usually one of the captains) that would stay near her and look after her. He was lucky that she woke up from her sleep when it was his turn to look after her. But he didn't want to make her uncomfortable by staying in her room. He decided that he would wait outside.
"Don't go….Please, stay." Hijikata blinked, hearing Chizuru's words.
"Won't you feel uncomfortable if I stay here?" He said in a hesitant tone.
"No." She shook her head weakly. "If it is Hijikata-san, I won't feel that way. So, please…" She pleaded in her soft and still weak tone.
"Then rest. I won't go anywhere." He complied with her request.
"…Thank…you." She spoke her gratitude with a small smile and closed her eyes again. If she had stayed awake for a bit longer, she could have seen the tiniest smile on Hijikata's mouth.
He saw her chest moving rhythmically, indicating that she had gone back to sleep.
He took one of her hands and enveloped it inside his palms. He would allow this selfish act of his for this one time. He was truly scared about her condition and was relieved beyond anything that she had regained consciousness.
He leaned his head into the small one hand that he held. And he let out a deep long breath.
He lifted his head and once again looked at the sleeping young woman.
"Thank you for coming back to me, Chizuru."
To be continued
Note: Okay, in this chapter, there are some historical events that I've also included with the story. I need the backgrounds to build up my story, that's why I also write about the historical events. I take some from Wikipedia (the Shinsengumi's backgrounds story) and some from the game itself (about Sakamoto Ryouma). I hope it will not make you bored with the information.
About the scene where Chizuru met with Kodou and Kaoru, I take it from the Movie: Kyoto Ranbu. Honestly, I like the movie plot more then the one in the game or anime.
And for Chizuru's sickness, I get the idea from the game, where in there Chizuru was sick, but the one that visited her was Saitou, not Hijikata.
So, that's it for now. I hope you enjoy the new chapter. See u again on the next chapter. And reviews and feedback are always appreciated :D

Pirate Shiori x Reader, For Shell-senji
Happy late birthday, @shell-senji! We joked about this a while agooo, but I decided to make it a reality~. Gets a little steamy-ish, still working on it lol.
------++-------
You couldn't tell if luck had been on your side or if it had been fate when the very woman you'd admired from afar had come closer to you and your group of friends. You felt your cheeks instantly warm when she laid her cool cyan blue eyes on you, and admired the way she effortlessly plucked an apple from the vendor's cart that was next to you and handed the vendor a gold coin. Her eyes stared through you as she bit into the juicy apple and took some steps towards you. She winked and scanned the rest of your friends, but her eyes came back to you. "What a garden of beautiful flowers I've come across." She mused, tucking loose strands of hair behind your ear. You honestly couldn't tell if it was your corset that made it hard to breathe, or the Pirate Captain herself. Her hand moved to your cheek and gently stroked it with her thumb before she used it to trace your bottom lip with it. She moved them to your chin and tilted it up as she leaned in, her hot breath fanning your ear, causing your breath to hitch once more. “And you, my red Daylily,” She took your hand and brought it to her lips, brushing against your knuckles. “are the most beautiful in bloom.”
Your cheeks warmed as you willed your voice to become audible, “Th-thank you, Captain Glory.”
“Ah, and she sings beautifully too.” The Captain hummed as she wrapped an arm around her waist, drawing her closer. “Would you like to sing for me later tonight?” She whispered in your ear.
You could feel your heart beat faster as she pulled you in chest to chest. She left you breathless. The many rumors about her were true, and you had always been curious about her. You’d heard rumors, read about her in the papers, knew about the her great deeds and misdeeds. Now, she was right in front of you, giving you a chance to spend the night together.
“I would love to, Captain Glory.”
---
She had someone from her crew escort you to the ship, which was empty once the crew member dropped you off. You made your way to her quarters and knocked on the door. Captain Glory gave you a smile and kissed the back of your hand. “Welcome, my Daylily, you look lovelier than the moon itself.” Your cheeks warmed at the compliment. She brought you inside and motioned for you to sit comfortably as she retrieved two glasses and a bottle of wine. “My crew’s out drinking a pub dry, we have the entire ship to ourselves, my Daylily.” The Pirate captain poured wine in your glass and filled her own, clinking it against yours. “You’ve really caught my eye, Daylily, I want to steal you away like the fine treasure you are.” She took a sip of wine and tucked a lock of your hair behind your ear.
“That’s bold of you, Captain Glory. We’ve only just met.” You fluttered your eyes at her as you took a large gulp of wine. Truthfully, you’d considered the possibility of asking to join her crew. The mundane life you led on this small island, working at a pub, didn’t offer you much excitement or happiness. With Captain Glory…
“Then…steal me away, Captain Glory.” You whispered as you set your glass down, locking eyes with her.
Captain Glory leaned in and captured your lips, hungrily. She murmured your name against your lips. Your fingers weaved in her violet locks and you became confused when she untangled them and turned you around. “This dress, the corset is in my way,” She smirked when your breath hitched as she used her teeth to undo the laces of the corset as her hands explored the sides of your body. Once you were free, she kissed down your back, causing you to shiver. She nipped at your neck and gently set you on the bed, on her silk sheets. She hovered over you, her lips traveling from your neck and down. “Won’t you sing for me, Daylily?”
---
The next morning, you woke up to the sound of the opening door and coffee. The Captain greeted you with a smile and she sat on the bed next to you. She leaned down and kissed you. “Coffee? This just came into my possession and it’s rather delicious. Good in the mornings.” She handed you a mug with a bitter but comforting drink.
You took a small sip and gave her a little grimace. “It’s a bit bitter, Glory.”
“Right, Miura told me to bring sugar too,” She took out a little sack with sugar cubes and put a few in your mug. “I don’t like sugar, except for this,” She stole another kiss. “So, have you made up your mind, Daylily? Can I steal you away? We will leave at noon.”
You hesitated, could you abandon everything you knew for something unknown? Become part of one of the most wanted crews?
Her cyan blue eyes locked with yours and you cupped her cheeks and kissed her. Yes, you could abandon this life for this one. “Please steal me away, Captain Glory.”
She chuckled and leaned her forehead against yours. “Shiori, Daylily. It’s Shiori.”
---
You fit right in with the crew. You relationship with Shiori blossom, and she flaunted it wherever you went.
“Daylily, I’ll be in town for a bit for some business, we will leave soon as soon as I come back.” She kissed your cheek.
You furrowed your brows. “Shiori, I usually go with you, why are you not letting me come?” It was unusual of her to not allow you to come off the ship.
She pursed her lips and stroked your cheek. “Because…this isn’t a good town. This one is full of idiots and bloodthirsty pirates.”
“And you? You think I want you there if you say it’s as bad as it is?” You stood up and grit your teeth.
“I can handle myself because I have a reputation, I know you can too, but-” Shiori shook her head. “No. I don’t want you there.”
“Shiori,” You grabbed her hand. “No, I’m going with you.”
“Listen to me,” She sighed and gave your hand a squeeze. “Stay on the ship. I want to protect you.” When you looked into her eyes, you saw fear in them. She hardly showed vulnerability, and was sometimes dishonest about how she felt. Through your relationship, she became more relaxed, allowed herself to be more unraveled with you. She let herself receive more and in return, gave you her heart. She squeezed her eyes shut and let out a sigh. “Look, I have a good reason for this, Daylily. You’re the most valuable treasure I’ve ever come across.” She flushed and leaned in to softly kissed your forehead. “You’re too precious to me, so please do as I ask.”
Shiori had never been so frank with you and you decided to trust her. You let out a breath and sat back down on the bed. “Fine, but you better not be long, Shiori.”
“Mm, I promise, My Shell from the deep blue sea.” Shiori stroked your hair and gave you a slight smile.
---
You coughed and quickly opened your eyes when you felt immobile, and the scent of strong tobacco, gunpowder and the salty breeze caused you to gasp. You looked up and saw your wrists tied above your head on the mast, along with the rest of your body. Your sword, pistol and dagger were all gone too. Ever since you came aboard The Kelpie, Shiori and various others from the crew, Harada, Nagakura and Heisuke had all been teaching you to fight, and you could handle yourself with or without a weapon thanks to that training.
In a situation like this, surrounded by...you took a glance and grimaced when some dirty pirates made some catcalls.
Right, Shiori had left, and not long after, some pirates had come aboard, taken out what little bit of the crew had been there and taken you captive. One of them had hit you hard on the head, you could still feel it throbbing painfully.
“Get the fuck away from my Treasure!”
You looked up and sighed in relief when you saw Captain Morning Glory herself swing right onto the ship, firing her pistol in the air. “I don’t know what kind of fucking deal you struck with Takeda, but that was the biggest mistake you could’ve done. Fucking pirates working for a navy general!” She fired her pistol three more times and three men collapsed on the floor. She shot the floor next to you as one of the pirates took a step forward. “Touch my Daylily and I’ll make sure you feel a pain worse than death.” She snarled and used the rope to land on deck next to you. No one from the ship dared to move, since they could feel her hot anger radiate from her. You felt your body relax once she began untying the ropes. “Are you hurt anywhere?”
You shook your head and collapsed in her arms and she hoisted you up in her arms. “Nagakura! The plank, and take care of these guys for me, everyone!”
“Aye, aye, Captain!” Nagakura grinned and drew his sword, leading the charge onto the other ship.
“Shiori, I can walk just fine-” You protested and felt your cheeks warm when she pulled you closer.
“It’s fine. I see your head’s wounded.” Shiori called for Yamazaki, their medic, once she set you on the bed you two shared.
Yamazaki quickly assessed the damage to your head and cleaned your small wound, leaving Shiori to bandage it. She remained quiet, her eyebrows furrowed, as if she were angry or disappointed.
“I’m sorry, Shiori, they came so-” You started to apologize, but she crashed her lips onto yours and she pinned you to the bed.
“No. This was my fault. I’m so fucking sorry.” She murmured and rested her forehead lightly against yours. “I wanted to prevent this, but I couldn’t…I’ve been threatened recently with you being taken away from me. They’ve been threatening you, and it’s made me scared for the first time in my life.” She closed her eyes and placed her ear against your heart. “I’m scared to lose you, Daylily.”
You kissed her forehead and hugged her closer. “I’m not going to go anywhere as long as I’m by your side, Shiori.”
Shiori leaned up to capture your lips. “Marry me. I want you by my side forever.”
Your eyes widened in surprise as she slipped out a couple of rings from her pocket. You blinked and nodded as you tried to make a sound. “Y-yes, Shiori, I’ll marry you!”
Shiori smirked and stole a kiss from your lips. “Now that we’re engaged, let’s celebrate.”

When Someone Else Tries to Impress You

It’s been forever since I did a Valhalla scenario one shot. Might turn this into a series with other characters.
Pairings: Okita Souji x fem!reader
Synposis: Valhalla was another wonder of mysteries and vastly beautiful. Everyone and everything co exists in one place. All the humans that died were summoned to Valhalla in their prime. You were died young anyway but you were reunited with your friends and of course, Souji once again. Yet, things go south when you befriend the demigod Cu Chulainn that happened to be training one day nearby.
No warnings.
WC: 1585
You loved everything about Valhalla. There were no wars and death. You and Souji were always next to each other when you both lived and promised each other to be with one another in the next life. Well, instead of being reborn, you all were summoned to Valhalla. Everyone that you had known was summoned in their prime years. Nagakura used to brag about how he died as an old man but was brought to Valhalla in his late twenties. You died not long after Souji so you never had the experience of aging like he did. It seemed that mostly everyone was still young and alive but in Valhalla.
“Oh cool, everyone is still practicing.” You chuckled as you sat down by Kondo. It was amazing to you how Kondo’s group still stuck by one another and had their own lodges set up near a forest.
There was no more fighting, at least no one to betray each other. Even Abiru, Yamanami and Heisuke were still with you all in the afterlife despite their bad choices when you guys were alive. You don’t loathe anyone… except maybe Serizawa for being a complete jack ass and he was elsewhere with his own group. At least he didn’t stick around with you guys.
Souji was happy and better, unlike his sick self. At least you can’t catch diseases and illnesses in heaven. He was able to spar with the others and see him laugh again. You could resonate with him how he wanted to see them once more before he died. He wanted to fight alongside them in the war. Most of all, he wanted to be with you and Kondo forever. It sucked how that turned out but in the end, everyone ended up together again. You had your family again… your Souji… the boy you swore your loyalty to. Valhalla was too unreal to be true.
After everyone was done with their practices and had eaten Kondo’s homemade meal, you quickly dismissed yourself and wanted to check the river nearby alongside the cliffs. You were going to ask your Souji to accompany you but he looked busy with everyone.
Maybe they won’t even notice you leaving for a bit. It didn’t cross your mind as you wandered around the forest down to where the river was. It didn’t look safe to cross from the looks of it. You heard someone counting like as if they were training nearby. You didn’t want to spy or anything. You haven’t met many new people in Valhalla either.
You slowly walked away but accidentally tripped over your feet falling backwards. Clumsy… like usual. You remember how Souji has caught you a few times when you’ve tripped or fallen from heights. He was normally there for you… suddenly guilt formed in your stomach. You wanted to return but someone was towering over you.
“Spying on me now?” A man with long silver hair gathered in a braid stared down at you. His blue combat uniform looked odd and he wore a red cape supported by a golden medallion attached to his right shoulder.
“N-No… I was just wondering around. Who the hell are you?” You sat up and moved away a bit to be cautious. You were mad that you didn’t bring your weapon with you in case he tried to attack you. You were internally scowling at yourself for being stupid.
“The name’s Cu Chulainn and you didn’t answer my first question.” He crossed his arms over his chest.
“What? Spying? I already said I wasn’t! Besides I’m leaving,” you tried to get up but your foot was stuck under a fallen log. You cursed and panicked but the man was baffled how terrified you were around him.
“Here, let me.” He pulled the log up so you could move your leg freely. You jumped up and still stumbled but didn’t fall this time. Was he showing off? How was he able to lift a fallen tree like that?!
“What? I was trying to help. Besides you still haven’t given your name?” He raised one hand to his face as he observed you. Was he really acting nice towards you? You were hesitant but gave your name to him.
“I— I need to head back.” You finally stood up and the man Cu Chulainn leaned against a tree with his arms crossed.
“So soon? You barely got here,” he laughed and you heard a dog. A dog barking.
“There he is,” a fluffy white dog walked up to Cu making your left eye twitch.
“You know, my dog Geiss normally doesn’t like humans, but he seems okay around you.” Doesn’t like humans? What the f— is he then? Was he trying to impress you with that statement?
You reached your hand down to pet the dog and he was nice enough to let you touch him. “He’s soft…” you were surprised by the dog’s reaction to you petting him.
“See, Geiss likes the pretty lady, huh?” Cu cooed that last part as he patted his dog. Pretty lady? You kept telling yourself to not get flustered. You can’t be flustered. You belonged to someone already. Oh god, oh god.
Cu was trying to impress you with his dog? You mentally laughed and you overstayed in the same spot. “I should head back but I must ask why are you here?” You have been wondering this for some time. He wasn’t Japanese. You have no idea what he was? He said his dog wasn’t particularly fond with humans.
“I train in all sorts of places, this happened to be a random spot I sometimes come to.” He responded as he went to pick up something huge like a tree but not quite. His weapon?
“My mentor gave me this and told me to train every day to master its technique. Maybe I can show you someday,” you were feeling guilty all of a sudden. Cu Chulainn or whoever he was must’ve been a warrior somewhere. He was strong for sure, but you didn’t have time to play questionnaire.
You heard leaves crunching behind you. “I found you. Why did you leave—" Souji stopped mid-sentence as he saw you with someone else. Geiss started to growl making Souji step back a bit. He was contemplating on pulling his sword out of his sheath. He was confused while he stayed a few feet away from you. You seemed too relaxed around the man as well.
Were you secretly seeing someone else? Souji wouldn’t know how to handle that, but he wasn’t going to jump to conclusions. Souji fell silent and didn’t know why you were here with someone else.
“Wait—! It’s not what it looks like.” You stepped in front of him.
“Who’s this?” Cu asked while he placed his weapon down. Geiss was lying next to him while you felt more guilty than ever.
“It doesn’t matter, we’re heading back.” Souji grabbed your arm to leave with him. Cu didn’t stop you from leaving. Well, he thought you were cute but that was it. It would be unfortunate, if he was your boyfriend. He seemed to dislike him but it didn't matter to Cu Chulainn anyway. He didn't even care if he sees you again.
“Hey wait! Why are you mad?” You haven’t seen Souji lose his temper but he was itching to kill the man you were with.
“Were you and him…" he didn’t want to finish while he was turned away clenching his hands tightly.
“No, I just met him and well, he talks a lot and has a cute dog.” You tried to make the situation better but Souji frowned still. Cute dog? That thing wanted to kill him.
He had calmed himself a bit and apologized. “Sorry, I almost lost my temper back there.”
“Aw, are you jealous that someone else was talking to me? Souji…” you were surprised but this wasn’t the first time. He even got mad at Hijikata and Nagakura a few times for trying to date you numerous times when you all lived.
Souji ignored what you had said. “Let’s head back. Venturing off is still dangerous without telling anyone. You were just lucky,” Souji grabbed your hand and pulled you along with him. He wasn’t wrong with the lucky part. Cu Chulainn could’ve harmed you but he didn’t.
“Fine, maybe we can see him again and he can show me what his weapon does.” You felt his hand tighten when you mentioned seeing him again. You noticed the tension in the air changed. Souji glanced at you with murderous intent in his eyes. Not to kill you, but he would for sure kill him.
“I said we, you and me! He didn’t seem—"
“No, just leave it.” When you two got back to the main area where you all were staying at. Souji had let go of you but something made you nervous around him from his behaviour earlier. He gets overprotective but this time he was different. He actually looked hurt but played it off when you explained that you had just met him and nothing happened. Now he’s back to acting normal around his friends, but when you two were alone, he wanted to mark you. Everyone knew who you belonged to. Souji always says the sweetest things to you alone which made your heart beat differently. How could you leave him? You wouldn't. Ever.
Something only he can do to you as his woman and no one else.

Golden Kamuy Reference Appendix
Hey everyone! Everyday Heroes scans has been doing a great job in including cultural and historical notes with their translations of Golden Kamuy, so I don’t mean to step on their toes. But I’ve gathered several resources and references while doing my own research and thought it’d be cool to compile it all in one place. My focus is primarily on real locations that Noda Satoru visually referenced in the series as well as historical figures Noda based his characters off of.
Please note that this guide is probably nowhere near complete and also contains spoilers for characters that appear in chapters that are as of yet untranslated. This list will be continuously updated.
LOCALE
Several locations in Golden Kamuy are modeled after real places that are still standing and open to the public today. A lot of these were either shared by Noda himself via social media or by other eagle-eyed Twitter readers.
Abashiri Prison: A real prison in Hokkaido! And now an open-air museum! [x]
Asahikawa: This town was the HQ for the 7th Division and houses a Hokuchin Memorial Museum that traces the history of the unit. [x]
Bar Kagiya: This location is unnamed in the manga, but in chapter 91, Shiraishi does some acrobatics over a building while escaping the 7th division. [x] This building is based off the historical Bar Kagiya located in Tokyo’s Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum. [x]
Edogai’s House: Based off one of the buildings located in Hokkaido University’s Botanical Gardens. [x]
Herring Mansion: Based off a real-life herring mansion (nishin goten) that is open to the public as a museum in Otaru, a small town located near Sapporo. [x]
Hospital: The hospital that Nikaidou stays at in chapter 94 is based off the Japan Red Cross Society Central Hospital display found at the Meijimura Museum in Aichi Prefecture. [x][x] (Thank you to helpful Twitter users on this one!)
Otaru: Japanese site Otarunet posted an obscenely detailed guide of all the buildings and other locations in Otaru that appeared in Golden Kamuy. [x]
Yamamoto Barbershop: The Yamamoto Barbershop in Barato, which Hijikata, Nagakura, and Ogata all visited in chapter 54 is real! It’s based off a barbershop of the same name located in the Hokkaido Historical Village. [x][x]
PEOPLE
Not including Hijikata and Nagakura because they literally are who they are and we all know that already.
Anehata Shiton: A tattooed convict introduced in chapter 108. His name, appearance and...love...for nature...are references to Ernest Thompson Seton, a famous author and wildlife artist. [x] (The real Mr. Seton did not fornicate with any animals as far as I know.)
Arisaka Narizou: Introduced in chapter 94. Based off Arisaka Nariakira, a Japanese Lieutenant General, who, like his fictional counterpart, is famous for his various developments in weaponry, including the invention of the Arisaka rifle. [x]
Edogai Yasaku: Based off famous American serial killer Ed Gein, who exhumed human corpses and used their body parts to make clothing, furniture, etc. Gein had a close relationship with his controlling mother, which is also paralleled in Edogai’s backstory. The name “Edogai” is most likely a play on “Ed Gein” as well. [x]
Ienaga: Ienaga’s Sapporo World Hotel is most likely a reference to H.H. Holmes’ famous murder hotel, a building constructed with many secret rooms, hallways, and traps used to easily murder victims. [x]
Inudou Shirosuke: the warden of Abashiri prison. Everyday Heroes summed this up in their translation notes so I’m just going to quote the Golden Kamuy wiki: “Inudou may have been based on two historical figures, Tsukigata Kiyoshi and Arima Shirosuke. Tsukigata was the first warden of Kabato Prison and had invited Nagakura to be the swordsmanship instructor. Arima was the first warden of Abashiri Prison and he was renowned as the Monster Warden due to his merciless attitude to the prisoners and their deep fear of him.” [x] (Yeah dudes I’m listing the GK wiki as a source, please cut me some slack.)
Lightning Keiichi and Pit Viper Ogin: A criminal couple introduced in chapter 103. Based off the American couple Bonnie and Clyde who robbed numerous people in various American towns until their deaths in 1934. [x]
Nihei Tetsuzou: The boner guy who loves to hunt and mentored Tanigaki was probably based off Yamamoto Heikichi, a famous hunter who killed the bear responsible for the Sankebetsu brown bear incident and had reportedly hunted over 300 bears. [x] [x]
Ogata Hyakunosuke: There’s mild speculation that Solitary Mountaincat Sniper Ogata is based off famous American Sniper Carlos Hathcock and I think the connection is tenuous at best, except Noda probably definitely referenced a photo of Hathcock for one of Ogata’s sniping stances: [original] [Ogata]
First Lieutenant Tsurumi: Tsurumi’s historical counterpart is most likely Sumi Shinichiro, a colonel who served in the 26th infantry regiment of the 7th division. He is known for creating Molotov cocktails with cider bottles to take down tanks, as well as refusing to act on reckless orders from HQ when his men were severely outnumbered in battle. Unlike Tsurumi, who fought in the Russo-Japanese War, most of Sumi’s involvement seems to be with the later Soviet-Japanese border conflicts before World War II. [x][x] However, Tsurumi’s unpredictable mood swings and poor temper caused by damage to his frontal lobe is most likely inspired or informed by the real case of Phineas Gage, an American railroad worker who had a metal rod pass through his skull and remove most of his frontal lobe in the process. After the incident, his personality was reported to change from quiet and mild-mannered to now aggressive and ill-tempered. [x]
33-Count Murderer Tsuyama: One of the convicts at Abashiri. He never appears directly though he’s the first tattooed skin that Tsurumi acquires. Is most likely based off Toi Mutsuo, who killed 30 people in the incident known as the Tsuyama Massacre. [x]
Ushiyama Tatsuma: The escaped convict who is also a judo master was based off the real judoka Ushijima Tatsukuma. [x]
I DON’T KNOW WHERE THIS GOES
Tsurumi’s gesture where he chastises Nikaidou in chapter 94 for hiding morphine was inspired by a video of Michael Jackson chastising his pet monkey using the same hand signal. I just want you to know. [x]

Meeting in Valhalla (part 2)

Continuation from Part 1
Pairing: Okita x fem!reader
TW: slight suggestive! Still has angst moments.
WC: 958
A few days have passed. Your mind was slowly going insane from the lack of sleep you were receiving. The last conversation you had with the small boy sent your mind in a spiral. You thought that from barely eating or showing yourself around to the others, many would try to talk to you? Nope. He hasn’t… as you asked around where he was, Yamanami and Hijikata claimed they had no idea.
“Where have you been in the last few days?” Another voice sent chills down your spine. It was Nagakura, who was bold but was nice deep down. You fell solemn and shrugged. You had wanted to get out and find the river nearby to clean yourself. The beauty of Valhalla was lovely. The gods must’ve created such a place.
“Does it matter—?”
“Yes, it does. If the leader let you in, you should spill where you’re going.” He folded his arms and blocked the entrance of the wooden structure so she couldn’t leave.
“Well, I just want to get out and look around unless that isn’t allowed.” You didn’t want to give away the full reason for wanting to leave the place. Maybe you’ll find other humans the farther you walk. Is there an endpoint to Valhalla? The idea was putting guilt on your shoulders. Since Okita doesn’t care about you anymore, you knew the rest of his samurai group wouldn’t care about you. You wanted to laugh deep down but Nagakura stepped aside whispering something in your ear.
“You know he wouldn’t like it if something were to happen to you, y’know?” And quickly you turned your head but Nagakura was walking away. Quickly and furiously you left the building clenching your hands together wondering what the hell Nagakura meant by that. Okita wasn’t the type to tell others about his personal feelings. It didn’t seem like him, maybe just assumptions or speculation because the two of you used to talk a lot.
You had dismissed the thoughts and wandered through the green forest. You were sure you knew the way back, however, it didn’t take long before finding a cliff to see the mountains that scattered over the heavens. There was a river nearby and you heard water flowing not far from where you were at. As you approached the large river that seemed to connect to the cliff creating a waterfall. It was incredibly loud but this had blown your expectations. Even back in Midgard there were tons of waterfalls but nothing as this. Was it true after all that heaven was better? “It’s nice isn’t it?” Your heart nearly dropped noticing you weren’t alone.
“So now you’re back to talking to me?” Gritting your teeth together. Okita leaned back into the tree and still hadn’t replied nor made eye contact with you. You turned around and sat on one of the large boulders and hoped he would’ve just left you alone. After a few minutes of silence, he mumbled a quiet ‘sorry’ and sat next to you bringing his legs up to his chest.
You pouted, “so you followed me to apologize?” You rested your arm on your raised knee while leaning on your hand. Okita’s expression changed from solemn to embarrassed. Well, he did follow you the moment he saw you leave after being interrogated by Nagakura Shinpachi.
“Were you planning on leaving?” He changed the question which made your heart twist. Anger was slowly building up in you.
“If you were going to ignore me for days pretending my existence wasn’t important, then why should I stay?” You shot back. His eyes were a bit glossy and hard to read his expression. Okita is unreadable at times. You were hurt and had no idea why you were lashing your anger out on him out of fear he would just leave again. He stayed quiet for a moment, you quickly turned your head and watched the river down below.
“I… I felt selfish in the moment. My sister abandoned me when I was 9 and Kondo-san took me in as his adoptive son. I didn't want you to leave me…” You had no idea what he was trying to say. Maybe he was bad at expressing his feelings to others. “I want you to stay… with me.” His confession didn’t take you back as you thought. You liked him as well and thought back how you could miss the hints. He tried to pull you away from Heisuke a few times and had to pull Shimada off you after he got drunk and tried touching you. You realized the hints were there.
“I— I understand. I’m not the best at reading things or other people. Maybe we can start over—"
“I want everyone to know that you’re mine.” He was smiling again, but your face turned red. Bright red. His?! Even the demon child was jealous of his own comrades. He died relatively young. He did mention he was 24 around the same age as you.
“Let’s take things slow—!" He threw his arms around your waist giving you a lot of warmth that was surging through you. You could feel your heartbeat speed up and the redness of your face.
“I’m so glad we’ve met.” He said and still hadn’t let go of your side. You can feel how joyful he was and decided to forgive him for being aloof.
“Promise that you won’t ignore me when you’re upset with something! I hate being ignored.” You pouted while leaning your head against his. He smiled and wouldn’t let go of you.
“I promise. I’m not used to this feeling, I just want us to stay like this… forever.” Like he actually meant it and you knew it.
“So do I.”

The Competition (part 4)

The final part is here! Read the previous parts if you’re new!
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
Pairing: Okita Souji x fem!reader
Synopsis: After a few months flew by and you completely moved on from who you were and evolved into someone new with the Shieikan dojo. Everyone was more than acquaintances to one another. They were friends and family. You became more involved with everyone and already mastered some of their techniques. You may not be as good as certain members, but what saddened you the most was how you wouldn’t need Souji’s guidance as before.
TW: fluff!
WC: 1698
As the months slowly passed by. Your time felt very short with them already and you have grown to like everyone very quickly. Especially Okita who makes you nervous at times. Maybe it was beginning to feel obvious that you were growing a small crush on him. Yet sometimes you tried to hide it and leave whenever he was in the room or avoid eye contact with him.
It was impossible to completely avoid him. One evening you accidentally walked outside to dust the porch just to see him hanging his kimono up to dry after washing it. He didn’t put his other purple kimono on in time before you spotted him. You couldn’t help but stare at his muscles for someone his size. You squealed and apologized for seeing him in such a way.
You have seen Nagakura and Hijikata take their kimonos off to spar with the others quite often and even show off their muscles a lot in the dojo. You had just never seen Souji… bare-chested and it made your face burn bright red. Did you make it obvious when you left quickly?
Everything was good between you two but when someone questions you about your training you freeze up and forget the question half the time. “There you are, Hijikata was wondering why you ran off earlier.” Yamanami found you sitting alone outside near a tree writing down stuff in your journal.
“Ran off? Sorry, I got distracted and probably forgot to do something.” You lied and Yamanami knew you’ve been acting off lately.
“Really? That wasn’t what Hijikata-san said. Have you been sleeping? Eating? Are you sick?” Yamanami observed you but all you did was turn your head hoping he’d leave you alone but Harada saw you two and gave you a weird but creepy stare before grabbing one of his dogs and leaving the area. It was no secret that Harada spoke the least and was a dog person. You shuddered under his gaze.
“Don’t tell me you’re afraid of the Grim Reaper, Harada-san?” Yamanami raised one of his brows while you shook your head. Harada has been nice to you but was also weird.
“What the hell do you want?” you were quick to change the topic. Of course, Nagakura had to come out and bother you as well.
“What the hell are you even writing?” Nagakura grabbed your note pad causing you to stand up and fight for it back.
“I can’t even read this, your writing is horrible!” Nagakura laughed but Yamanami took it from his hands.
“That’s because you were holding it upside down, you idiot.” Yamanami took a glance at what you had written before giving it back to you. Everything felt so embarrassing to you since it was your journal.
‘I’ll never get noticed by him even if I was better’
Was it obvious? “Hey! I wanted to know what was in it!” Nagakura shouted but was told by Yamanami to shut up. Nagakura-san mumbled something inaudible before leaving.
You tried to move out of the way before Yamanami spoke up from behind. “You won’t get noticed if you keep avoiding him.” You stopped in your tracks but you didn’t say anything and went back inside the training hall and into your room. Yamanami-san was right, you were avoiding him and it was hurting you. Yet, Souji looked like he was doing fine.
You were in your room— well, it was one of the extra rooms of the Shieikan dojo so you wouldn’t have to sleep in the same room with all the boys. Kondo and Souji shared a room which wasn’t surprising to you. You were reading one of the history books you had brought with you when you joined their dojo.
“Oh, you’re here?” You recognized Souji’s tone as you awkwardly offered him a smile before turning your head back to what you were doing. You expected him to leave and go back to whatever he was doing.
“What are you reading?” he tried to look over your shoulder.
“The story of Minamoto-no-Yoshitsune. My… uh, okaasan had this in our house. I probably read it more than five times.” You had no idea what you were saying but it intrigued Souji somehow.
“The legendary swordsman? Can I read it?” he sat next to you and you had no idea if he was being serious. He loved swordsmanship and learning about the history of Japan’s legendary samurai brought some interest to him.
“Ya, of course. I already read it many times. Take it with you,” you pushed the book towards him assuming that he was going to leave with it.
"Can I read it here instead? If you don’t mind.” He opened the book and was reading through the first few pages. You couldn’t imagine how he was a bit of a nerd deep down. Samurai history must’ve been intriguing to him. Maybe he didn’t read many history books about Japan?
“You don’t… really know much about the history of samurai?” You questioned while he flipped the pages.
“I do… it’s just that we don’t really have books around here. Only what Kondo-san tells me.” Souji was calm despite how late it was. So like most kids rely on their parents for guidance and information. Kondo has been raising him well.
“I have more of these books if you want to borrow them.” You quietly said even though you had no idea why you took them wherever you went. They were the last thing your parents had before they abandoned you.
Souji smiled at your offer and silently accepted. The two of you talked more about the history of Japan and the famous warriors that ever lived. You couldn’t help but feel directly close to him. Eventually, it was getting too late and Souji was about to go back to his room.
“Before I head back, can we… hang out like before?” Souji was a bit nervous about your answer but you nodded. Truth was, Kondo did have a talk with him about you days prior. Souji had taken Kondo’s advice about relationships. If there was anything going on between you and him, then he was willingly accepting the consequences and risks if he were to pursue anything with you.
“Well, before you go. I want to ask something,” you looked at him as he was waiting for your question.
“Why didn’t you kill me that day?” You were referring to when he saved you knowing you were from a competing dojo.
“I didn’t want to.” His answer brought you a bit of surprise even though he was cold towards you.
“Oh, I see. You’re different than I’d imagine." Your words confused him but he didn’t want to bother you further and had retreated for the night going back to Kondo’s room wondering what you meant. Different? Was that in a good way? Ya, you smiled when you said that so you must’ve meant that in a good way.
~~
Over the next two days you were warming back up to Souji in the dojo and you weren’t as avoidant as before. He started to compliment your fighting style as you were better than before. Even though the Tennin rishin-ryu techniques were quite hard to learn and there was lots of improvement to be made. You still practiced daily, even when you were alone.
You walked outside to catch some air despite how incredibly cold it was during the winter season. The cold air brushed against your skin making you shudder. “Why are you standing in the cold?” Souji was holding the book you let him borrow.
“Needed some air,” you were solemn and it was the truth.
“I wanted to give this back, that samurai Minamoto-no-Yoshitsune was truly remarkable during his time. Also, here put this on.” He placed the book down on the porch and went to take his haori off. You felt him place the clothing over your shoulders which surprised you.
“Wh— What about you?!” you wanted to give it back to him but he stepped away so you couldn’t.
“I’m fine! It’s just… I’d rather you not freeze to death,” he replied but you could tell he was also a bit cold and didn't want to leave you standing outside. You sighed and decided to test the waters by pulling him closer to you to share warmth. He didn’t pull away which was a good thing. Your arm was practically wrapped around him. Did he like the feeling as much as you did?
“Thanks… I,” he stopped for a moment. “Am not great with words. I think you’re too kind.” Souji was turning red from embarrassment which you should be the one more embarrassed than him.
“Souji-san, that’s my line. You’re also a kind person and I really like you.” You didn’t realize that you pretty much confessed at the end of your sentence and it was too late to retract your statement.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean it like that. I uh…” Your heart was pounding tremendously in your chest. Souji listened to your words but didn’t pull away.
“I like you as well,” he groggily says with a small smile etched onto his lips
Your mouth gaped open. So he reciprocated your feelings? “Let’s head inside before we die out here.” You looked down and saw his head buried into your side. He was sleeping?
“Oh, I didn’t expect to see this…” Kondo stepped outside but the sight wasn’t surprising.
“It’s not what it looks like K–Kondo-san. He just fell asleep and he wouldn’t go back inside.” You didn’t know what else to say. Souji didn’t even want to move as he felt more comfortable where he was at.
“Don’t worry, I had a feeling about this.” He was referring to you two. Kondo reached down to pick him up to bring him back into his room. Souji was incredibly tired? Maybe he was reading the book too much and didn’t sleep.
“You should come inside too,” Kondo gave you a smile.
Your thoughts returned and your friendship with Souji turned into something more deeper and stronger than before.
In the end you had him and he had you.

The Competition (part 3)

I’ll be posting To Live or Die chapter 5 tomorrow and then continuing part 3 of the ‘when someone else gives you gifts’ in the following day or two with Okita in it this time.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 4
Pairing: Okita Souji x fem!reader
Synopsis: A few weeks had passed and you weren’t as bad as you expected to be compared to them. You enjoyed everyone’s company and felt relieved that they were nice to you. Everyone opened up to you except for one person— Okita. Even when he helps you, he still was aloof around you which was unfortunate. He doesn’t talk about himself like how the others do. Even though Kondo was mainly the instructor and boss, Souji wanted to help you in other aspects such as your speed and sword skills.
TW: none this part!
WC: 1723
You were suddenly beaten down hard from the force of Okita’s bokken clashing with yours causing you to fall backwards. “Oops, sorry about that!” Souji stepped back and gave you a heartfelt laugh. He has been trying to be gentle with you. You could tell the level from his attack power and yours is too big of a gap. He sometimes can’t help with his overwhelming speed and power in the moment when he spars with you or others.
It’s been a few weeks with them and you enjoyed everyone’s company and time. You were unsure how they felt about you. The dojo was a mess normally and you took over Kondo’s cooking in a nice way to give him a “break” when in reality, you couldn’t eat the inedible food he serves to everyone.
“Oi! Weird girl! You’re cooking for us again, right?” Hijikata draped an arm over your shoulder. He quickly pulled away from him.
“Stop calling me that, and ya I can cook something later if Kondo is okay with that.” With a quick huff, you noticed that Okita wasn’t anyone in sight.
“Well, whatever. I’m starving…” Hijikata flopped on the floor and Nagakura went over to check on him. Kondo was talking to one of the higher officials from what seemed like to be the military centre. Was he still trying to be a Kenjutsu professor there? You went over to dust the floor from all the training from earlier and get water from the well from outside.
Your eyes found Souji playing and laughing with a few of the kids who always came around when they were bored. What was this feeling that tugged at your heart? You remember them coming around a few times always asking if Souji was around. Every day you learn something new about him. He liked kids?
“Kondo-san is looking for you.” Abiru stepped outside and noticed your focus was on something else.
“Oh, I’ll find him then.” You were embarrassed and thankful Abiru didn’t question why you were watching Souji. It was odd but your fascination for him only grew over time and even before you met him.
You walked over to Kondo’s room and saw him reading a book and drinking tea. “You needed me?” You stopped by the door and he nodded.
“I noticed your progress is getting better. I hope Souji hasn’t been too hard on you the past few weeks.” He grinned as if he was proud of you. You had barely met the man but this brought you some joy.
“Ya… I guess. He’s been great! I’m just curious how he is the strongest for someone… his size?” your question made Kondo laugh.
“He just is, ever since I took him in.” Kondo stopped himself from mentioning how Okita is a demon child which makes him different from the others. Souji can’t control his battle instinct which could lead to him hurting others by accident. Kondo knew that and still looked after him. You admired this side of Kondo for being caring for him.
“You— You raised him?” you quietly asked. Kondo always kept his grin and kind features.
“It’s a long and painful story,” Kondo began while taking another sip of his tea.
“he was abandoned by his sister when he was nine after he protected themselves from a few ronin. I happened to see the incident and decided to take him in and become a disciple here. I wouldn’t bring any of this up to him, he may look tough but he’s a very kind person.” Kondo told you this. You had no idea he suffered from abandonment as a child. He seemed very distant from the others at times, but the next moment he would be fooling around with some of them. Maybe his past doesn't bother him?
“Of course, I had no idea. He has helped me a lot with my training. So as a few of the others…” you muttered.
You had assumed Kondo was checking in on how you were liking his dojo. Of course, you liked it and preferred it over your other dojo.
-
Over the next few days at the Shieikan dojo, you still practiced the Tennin rishin-ryu style barely getting the hang of it. Souji was busy or not around so you’ve been alone most of the time despite you could’ve sparred with Hijikata or Nagakura when they asked.
“You’ve gotten a lot better since the time you arrived here!” Someone clapped behind you. Okita was in his casual green kimono. You wondered how long was he watching you swing the bokken for. It didn’t matter, you could never be in the same league as him anyway. Was it even a competition still?
“Ya… I think I’m going to take a break.” You put the bokken away and proceeded to walk inside where some of the members were exhausted from their training. Kondo had cooked ahead of time but you were too late to offer, seems like he wasn’t reading from your cooking recipes.
“Not this garbage again…” Hijikata stuffed a handful of uncooked rice into his mouth.
“Shut up before you upset Souji if you make fun of Kondo’s cooking again,” Abiru looked worried but Hijikata shrugged like he didn’t care if he took another beating from him.
“Hey hey! No need to get upset,” you mumbled but all you received was glares from some of them. Souji asked you to sit with him outside which was kind of surprising. Everyone was taking a break it seems and were busy again arguing with one another and Yamanami putting sense into them like usual.
You walked back outside and sat down next to Souji on the porch as you drank some herbal tea in silence while glancing over to see him petting a black cat. “Do you normally take care of them?” You broke the silence.
“Huh? Oh! Ya, I do.” He quickly grabbed your hand to pet the ball of fur on his lap. You thought it was cute how he was such an animal lover. The cat was purring loudly and liked being scratched. How many strays were there? 10? 15? They keep on multiplying and Souji refuses to let them starve. He and Kondo would sometimes give whatever leftovers to them.
“See, she likes you.” he said but before you know it a few more kittens popped out from under the porch. They seemed a bit skittish around you but not with him. He didn’t look at you as he went to pick one of them up. This was another reason you shouldn’t judge someone based off what rumours say.
“My previous dojo had a few cats but they wouldn’t let anyone come up to them… I’m glad you’re someone they can trust.” You tried to give a cheeky smile. He was happy to hear that he was someone they could trust. Yet, he still was saddened from what Kondo told him of your dojo in private when he asked. You were also private and kept your past in the past.
“What was it like with your dojo? If you don’t mind telling me,” he sat back next to you putting one of the kittens in your lap.
You smiled and were somewhat surprised that he wanted to know about your previous dojo. “I didn’t really choose to be a part of them. My parents disappeared when I was young. I can barely even remember their faces since it’s been so many years. I was found by the dojo owner of the Tamiya-ryu and my fighting instinct is why I was made a disciple there.” You couldn’t help but remember all the memories from that dojo. The members treated you as a nobody and acted like they held higher authority over you.
“They really picked a lot of fights with us,” Souji softly chuckles but he wasn’t upset or mad about it. You wondered why they did, you only heard from the few members as to why they tried to attack Kondo’s dojo was because of ego?
“I’m sorry they did that…” you muttered in embarrassment. They put the entire dojo to shame including you.
“Don’t be, I’m glad you left them. They seemed weak and you’re not.” His words lightened your mood and brought a smile to your face. He was always nice to you, which made your heart stutter a bit. Just as you were going to say something else, Kondo walked outside to where you two were.
“It seems you two are getting along?” he raised a suspicious brow but Souji just smiled and nodded. Kondo had never seen Souji bond with anyone like this. He cared for his friends and took his training seriously, but friendly conversations with someone were quite rare. Souji enjoyed your company and didn’t act aloof around you as he used to. He preferred his space a lot of times when the others were fighting or arguing, Souji didn't really get involved in their shenanigans and preferred being outside in the company of cats.
“Ya of course! Why wouldn’t we be?” you awkwardly laughed before standing up and running back inside.
“I see,” Kondo didn’t pressure Souji to say anything about what you two were talking about.
Kondo thought it was interesting how you jumped from his interruption and quickly left. Kondo looked down at Souji who was grinning at nothing in particular. It was nice that someone who shares a similar past with him is getting along despite you were from another dojo.
Souji normally kept quiet while watching his friends spar against each other. Whenever they ask him to spar, it normally ends within a few seconds. Even sneak attacks don’t work on Souji, but Nagakura would still try from time again even though he gets knocked out usually from Souji’s quick reflexes.
Kondo grimaced and still never judged you for being coming from a shitty dojo. Even Souji was from another dojo as well but was kicked out for hurting everyone on accident. Kondo was an observer and could tell that Souji in the past few weeks was particularly growing fond of you because of a lot of things. Your sword skills and kind personality were one.
However, Kondo would eventually need to have that talk with him even if his suspicions were wrong.

Note: posting this before the new chapter leaks drop because I know imma be depressed for a while. Part 4 will be the final to this. I just love and enjoy writing AUs instead of following direct canon events and stories.

The Competition (part 2)

Read part 1 if you’re new here! There going to be 4 parts to this.
Part 1 Part 3 Part 4
Pairing: Okita Souji x fem!reader
Synopsis: After a few days of thinking what you were going to do with your time and skills. Either find a new hobby or learn to harness your skills better. You decided to go back to Tennin rishin-ryu and ask to join them even if you were from the competing dojo.
TW: none
WC: 1619
You finally decided after your master abandoned the Tamiya-ryu dojo and is selling the property due to loss of business. The Bakumatsu period was a ruthless time to be living. Commoners even suffer due to the military pressure and ideological-political differences that have been dividing the country. Choshou and Tosa domains believe in overthrowing the Tokugawa shogunate and putting the emperor back in charge of the country.
To you, that doesn’t seem like a bad idea, but they were still resolving their issues through violence that would lead to a civil war. The only solution you could think of was to either join a side or be solo.
As you kept walking around the town watching normal citizens move by their day. You saw the sign again— Tennin rishin-ryu. You didn’t know if you were looking stupid while standing outside of their walls. There was noise coming from the back of some of their men training. There was nobody out in the front but you decided to turn back. You felt like a bothersome of returning. You were a hindrance to that swordsman— Okita Souji the other night when you were attacked.
“Hey, you!” Someone called out from behind. His hair resembled a sea urchin. You observed him still wondering who he was.
“The boss said no girls today!” He walked up to you while standing a few feet away.
“Huh? You don’t even know me or why I’m here…”
“He’s talking about the fangirls that come around here quite frequently,” another man with a pair of glasses stated while standing a few feet behind the sea urchin guy. Fangirls?! They have fangirls?
He must be their infamous mad dog Hijikata with the way he accused you off the bat of being a fangirl. You only heard baseless rumours about how he raided dojos and sold medicine to those he beat up. What a weird guy…
“Uh, well please don’t flatter yourself, I’m here for other reasons. Is your boss here?” You brought a hand up to your face while titling your head to look how irritated he look.
“Well yes, he is here.” Yamanami started but another joined in the conversation from behind.
“Shouldn’t you book an appointment before showing up unannounced?” The man was taller with dark brown hair with a slim build.
“Nagakura-san, we don’t do those here.” Yamanami pushed his glasses up to his face more. Hijikata mumbled something inaudible before turning away.
“Never mind, I wasted my time coming here. I’ll go to the kenjutsu professor, Sasaki Tadasaburou instead.” Just as you turned away, someone grabbed your shoulder roughly.
“That self-claimed ‘best short sword user’ piece of shit won’t teach you nuthin’ anyway who the hell are you?” Hijikata long rant on the man indicated they must’ve met and it wasn’t a pleasant experience.
“The military training centre is a training camp for the strongest warriors. If Tadasaburou was bad at swinging a sword, I’m sure he wouldn’t be a professor there.” You scoffed but that only made Hijikata furious even more before Kondo stepped outside of the dojo.
“Oh you came back, I see you wanted to join here?” Kondo crossed his arms and had a smile on his face. Hijikata wanted to retort but was immediately smacked by Yamanami from objecting Kondo.
“Oh really?” The boy Souji stepped outside of the training hall and laid eyes on you. You couldn’t quite tell how he was so great with the sword but you wanted to know more. He seemed more reserved to himself compared to the others.
“Her join us?! As Saitou’s replacement—?!” Hijikata was mad and you had no idea who this Saitou was. It seems like there would be some objections.
“Hajime-san killed a hatamoto’s son, of course, he had to leave Edo after that incident you moron.” Nagakura sighed. Kondo looked deeply bothered by the mention of Saitou.
“Nobody is a replacement. Now why don’t we calm down and you, should come inside as well.” Kondo looked at you. Were you conflicted still? Of course. These men were brutal and accused you of things but you wanted to learn to defend yourself better and what their goals are.
Once you stepped inside their training hall, it was just empty, smelled like sweat which you tried not to gag but your previous dojo wasn’t much better. You looked to the side and saw all the wooden swords in a corner. They were called bokken but you liked calling them sticks for numerous of reasons.
You were soon interrogated about your previous dojo and life by Yamanami and Inoue. You had learnt that your dojo was the one picking fights and was more devious with their actions to kill and raid other dojos.
“How do I know you’re not like them?” Hijikata stood up and was towering over you, but Souji who was outside on the porch spoke up after hearing the conversation drag on.
“I probably would’ve killed her if she was the same as them,” he didn’t even look at you. His input put you to shame. Why did it affect you that much?
“Heh? You two met?” Hijikata was confused but neither you nor Souji said anything after that. Kondo returned with his homemade meal asking for everyone to sit and eat.
You didn’t know what to do so you sat quietly off to the side while some of them were arguing— especially Hijikata, Nagakura and Abiru about who’s stronger physically. Everyone seemed to be family to one another which is what you didn’t have. Was it possible to fit in with them?
“Here, Kondo-san doesn’t want you to starve.” Souji handed you a small bowl of rice and whatever else was in it. It smelled incredibly horrid but you just smiled. Maybe you should cook for them? It wouldn’t be a bad idea if Kondo was this bad.
You mumbled a quiet thanks while you wondered if he was going to move away since he seemed aloof in general but he still stayed a few feet away from you. You were growing more and more curious about him.
After everyone was done eating most of them went back to sparing against one another. Except for Souji who went to feed the stray cats. You sighed and thought you might as well go outside and practice your sword drawing against something.
Well, not quite. Hijikata called your name but not quite your name. More like an insult— weird girl? You didn’t know how to register that.
“How ‘bout you try to land a hit on me?” He asked and everyone pretty much stopped what they were doing. What?
This even caught Souji’s attention. Normally he doesn’t even pay attention to what the others are doing in Kondo’s training hall.
You went to grab one of the bokken that was on the ground and got into a stance. You were waiting for Hijikata to make a move. He was slanting his eyes while the others were whispering about you mainly. Hijikata tried to strike your side but you quickly stepped back and made a quick draw up close but he blocked your first move. You were quickly pushed back. “Not bad for someone who looks weak at first glance,” he tried to use his leg to kick you but you unexpectedly moved the bokken down to block his leg from reaching your lower abdomen.
“You’re not bad yourself,” you seethed while getting into a stance as he charged forward. You were determined to win against him— even with your quick draw being swift at your close range. Hijikata could barely block or estimate your moves. He barely could keep up with your quick drawing speed. So that’s why Kondo wanted you to join them? You were really good at Iaijutsu. Suddenly a thought came to your mind as you kept putting more force into your strikes to try to break his bokken.
“You’re just an underdog here, don’t get too cocky.” He was using faster strikes against you and that was when you heard a snap. You didn’t stop there even with a snapped bokken. He probably expected you to give up. However, you’d still fight until you couldn’t. That was your way of living.
You curved your back to the side to catch him off guard with a kick to his shins and immediately tapped your half-broken stick against his head. “Huh?! That was unfair! What the fuck was that for?!" He was rubbing the side of his head where you hit him hard.
“So Hijikata is still the worst swordsman here…” someone mumbled but you were to busy staring him down.
“Don’t worry about it, I just want to learn the Tennin rishin-ryu style to get stronger.” You triumphed but this caused some of them to laugh.
“I can help you with some of the techniques.” Souji offered but this caused you to contort your face a bit. Do you want to get yourself beat up? You didn’t expect someone like him to volunteer.
“I’ll go easy on you,” he added.
“Ya, there’s no better swordsman who can really teach you.” Nagakura huffed while crossing his arms over his chest.
“Seriously?! I can help her too! I’m not that bad at Tennin rishin-ryu style…” Hijika frowned but he was ultimately defeated. Somehow Souji wanted to see how good you were which was why he volunteered.
You smiled and felt happy deep down you were going to see if the rumours were actually true if he’s the greatest amongst them. You have no doubts about it.
You just hope you’re not a disappointment to them and you can fulfil your goals alongside them. Maybe they weren’t bad after all.

Note: poor Hijikata. Hope I nailed him here. Next part will be more you and Okita. I wanted some story building first.

Beautiful Things
And I’m back once more but this time with a gift for my incredibly wonderful friend and fellow mod, @creator-cia! A very Happy Birthday to you Lovely~!
She has given me permission to post this.
Fandom: Hakuoki
Paring: Nagakura x GN!Reader
Takes place during Kyoto Winds. You know, back when things were somewhat happier.

Hearing your name called out, you turn to find Harada making his way towards you. You bow your head in greetings. “Good evening Harada. You’ve returned early from Shimabara, is there something I can help you with?”
“Yes, I need to ask you for a favor.” Your head tilts in question and he continues. “Shinpachi passed out a little ways back, could you go find him and make sure he gets back safely?”
“Wait, if he’s passed out, why didn’t you carry him back Harada?” Not even a second after you’d asked was he face-first on the ground. “Ah, that’s why.” Chizuru rounded the corner at that moment. “Chizuru! Perfect timing. Could you help Harada back to his room? I need to go out and make sure Nagakura isn’t dead.”You gesture to the ground and the rave-haired girl let out a startled gasp as she saw the unconscious man.
After making sure Chizuru wouldn’t have a hard time with Harada, you left the headquarters.
--
Thankfully you didn’t have to travel far before you spotted Nagakura’s body laid across the dirt. He was on his back, gaze turned towards the sky as his chest moved in steady breaths. “Oh good, you’re not dead!”
Nagakura’s head tipped backward and as his eyes landed on you a bright smile tugged at his lips. “Ah! Wow, my wish really did come true!” Coming to a stop a few steps from where he laid, you cocked a brow at him.
“Why are you laying on the floor Nagakura?”
“Ah, well…” He blinked a couple of times as if realizing that he was indeed laying on the floor. His face was flushed, a clear sign that he was very much still intoxicated. “Oh right! I tripped and couldn’t get back up.” He smiled again and you couldn’t help but laugh.
“So now you’re just stargazing?” The brunette hummed while nodding his head happily. Your head tilted to the side, curious about what he’d said before. “So did you wish upon a star and it came true?” He nodded again so you decided to ask him what he’d wished for.
“Well…” You waited patiently as it took his alcohol clouded brain a moment to collect his thoughts. “The sky looked really beautiful tonight and suddenly I had the thought that I wished you were here to look at it with me.” His eyes were crinkled from how brightly he was smiling up at you.
Crouching down so you could look into his face better, you couldn’t help but smile fondly down at him. “Oh? You want me to see something you found beautiful?” One of your hands reaches out to brush some dirt off of his face. However, when you start to retract your hand, one of his shoots out and presses your hand back to his face.
“I want to show you so many beautiful things.” Green orbs stared deeply into your own. His next sentence was mumbled but you were so close you could hear it clearly. “You deserve to see nothing but beautiful things.” Your eyes widen at his words, not expecting such a response.
“And why’s that?”
“Because you’re so incredibly beautiful.” A silence settles over the both of you as you stare into each other’s eyes. It’s broken a couple of seconds later as you burst into laughter.
“Okay yeah, you’re way too drunk, let's get you home.” Standing up and brushed your clothes off, you fondly shake your head at the man still staring up at you. It didn’t take long for you to heave him off of the ground and begin hauling him back to the Shinsengumi headquarters.
Even after you’d tucked him into bed you couldn’t shake the way he had looked at you the whole way back. As if you had been the one to hang the moon and all the stars in the sky. Even if he didn’t remember this conversation in the morning, you couldn’t help but fantasize about what a future with Nagakura could be like.
One in which he truly did show you all the beautiful things.
