Okita x female reader who’s jealous of his valkyire skalmold

His Victory

I originally was gonna do this but wasn’t sure how with the way Okita has been written lately in RoR, I’m going to change the scenario a bit and make it slight AU and that he won and lives.

Pairing: Okita Souji x fem!reader

Synopsis: You couldn’t conceal how jealous you were of her and how he looked so happy around Skalmold. He had won his match and despite the injuries he took and thanks to her, he was able to live. The infirmary was amazing in healing the participants. You’ve been with Okita since the Shinsengumi days stuck by his side till the bitter end.

TW: slight hurt/comfort and fluff

You didn’t know what to feel in the moment. She was incredibly beautiful. Your heart and mind seemed to be clouded in the moment as they fought for humanity together. Of course, he was amongst the chosen for Ragnarok. After he won against a god. A god. It was like you were happy on the inside but everything else felt like a blur.

You have known him since the Shieikan days, Mibu and Shinsengumi days. How long has it been? Since he was 9? 10? Since you met him… you couldn’t save him but she could. Her enhancement stalled enough for him to get the win for humanity and he was able to survive.

The other members of the Shinsengumi were rushing to see Souji in the infirmary while you stood back without knowing what to think. You remember what he told you? He wanted to go all out and it was highly possible he would die. “Why are you still here?” Sasaki who stood a few feet away from you had asked.

“I don’t know…” you didn’t move and continue to watch the arena change its layout to prepare for the next round.

“You should see him, I’m sure he would want you there with him.” Sasaki crossed his arms.

“I’m sure he’s fine… he has everyone else there with him.” You looked at your hand. It was a miracle for him to survive but you were sure the nurses and Valhalla doctors would heal him back up. You on the other hand have no idea what you were going to do. It felt like you were completely replaced by Skalmold.

Hrist grew irritated at how you completely sat in silence ignoring the fact that the man who devoted his life to you was in critical condition, and you wouldn’t go see him. “Listen here, I don’t care what your deal is! You are throwing your feelings away just because of jealousy?” Hrist was one of the smartest women and she wasn’t wrong. She could sense your uneasiness when Souji was paired with Skalmold. You may have been quiet about it, but you weren’t entirely on board with another woman interlinking their soul with him.

“So what if I’m jealous? In the end, it doesn’t matter. I can’t ever compete with her.” You wanted them to leave you alone as you brought your knees to your chest. This made Hrist grab your arm to pull you to your feet.

“Wh— What are you doing?!” you were shocked by how mad Hrist was.

“Taking you to him whether you like it or not.” Hrist angrily said as you looked at Sasaki but he was just grinning at the two of you. Hrist was kind and an angry person, depending on her moods.

You didn’t say anything as your stomach felt empty as you were dragged down the hall to his infirmary room. Nervousness filled you greatly as you were halted and stood outside his door with Hrist holding onto your arm still.

“I brought her here,” Hrist opened the door. Kondo smiled and of course, Ichimatsu and Skalmold were here as well. Ichimatsu was a very kind boy who took care of Souji with you in his final moments. You had wondered where his other friends were at. Hijikata? Heisuke? Hajime? Maybe they already saw him or were told to see him later when he’s in better shape.

“Hi…” you couldn’t even make eye contact with any of them. Sasaki and Hrist had already left back to watch the remaining matches.

“You’re here, I was worried,” Skalmold spoke up kindly. Souji still didn’t say anything as his eyes met with nothing in particular. Was he mad at you?

“Ya, sorry about that.” You fidgeted with your hands due to how nervous you were. Kondo had politely asked Ichimatsu to wait outside the room. Skalmod was talking about how she knew you which made you wonder if you’ve met her before.

Souji’s memories? That would’ve been the only correct answer when she became his volundr. She was too kind and you were still unsure what her motives were. Why was she still here? You looked at Kondo who said nothing.

“Do you… want me to leave?” You asked Souji. He was being too quiet which was scary. Even when you two were alive on earth, he was the quietest member. He only spoke when he needed to or was being directed to. Yet, he could talk to you for hours when you two were alone.

Souji looked up when you asked him a direct question. “No, but why didn’t you see me right away?” he asked but his eyes still hadn’t met yours. You didn’t want to admit to your own feelings about Skalmold so you had to make up something, right?

“I— I… It’s nothing. Sorry, I got too distracted by everything around me.” Your answer wasn’t satisfying to him. You weren't being truthful and he knew that.

“Are you two alright? Did something happen?” skalmold was completely innocent in this and you were immediately starting to feel guilty. You were still keeping your distance.

“Do you like him?” You asked Skalmold. In the end, it would be up to Souji to decide for himself. Kondo was confused by your question towards the valkyrie. Jealous? Did Souji pick up on that as well?

“Why wouldn’t I? He has a good heart and I admire his commitment to the sword.” she smiled but that wasn’t exactly what you were expecting. It doesn’t seem to be a crush she was experiencing. Skalmold looks like she cares for him as much as you do but more like how a close friend would.

You fell silent and was unsure of what you wanted to do. “You think I’d leave you?” Souji’s voice was raspy. He caught on to your turbulent emotions. You looked at Kondo and back at them— Skalmold and Souji. You nodded slowly but Souji reached his arm out for you to take it.

You were hesitant but you took his arm and sat next to him on his left side. You could tell he was in a lot of pain from his match and probably is done with sword fighting. He’s gotten his wish to go all out and as you thought he would die, he still lived. “Remember our promise?” he asked.

You nodded, you remember from your previous life with him. “I told you even when I die, you’d always have my heart.” He wasn’t giving you any eye contact but was staring at his hands in his lap.

“I said the same as well… I’m sorry, I’ll stay here for as long as you want.” You smiled and this is what Skalmold wanted was for him to be happy. He was upset that you didn’t see him right away. She wasn’t jealous of you but rather wanted to befriend you as well.

“Forever? Just like you and Kondo-san promised.” He was too cute and you couldn’t say no to him.

Just like that, your last hope was for the humans to win so you could still stay with him longer.

Note: I’m not sure how to feel with this one. Imma make more jealous reader of Skalmold after the round is over. I’m also gonna do a Valhalla one shot where Okita gets jealous of the god you befriended aka Cu Chulainn. Idc for Cu much but he has the face and personality that would piss off Okita.
