HAWK TUAH !
jjk men during a bl0w!e
MULTIPLE X READER
-> GOJO, SUKUNA, CHOSO, GETO, NANAMI, TOJI
cw: bj stuff. cum play (kinda idk) rough characters. dirty talk. degradation. choking
GOJO SATORU AKA HEAD PUSHER
Soooo needy it’s insane. He’s so desperate to feel every inch of your soft warm mouth. he promises to let you do your thing but as soon as you wrap your lips around the tip his hands fly to your head and his hips snap. he’s muttering apologize as he pushes you down until your nose touches his skin. he throws his head back and moans open mouthed like a slut.
he’ll get so caught up in the moment he keep you down there for like 30 seconds just grinding his hips into your mouth. let’s you up when you pinch his thigh. you will be coughing and your face will be covered in spit by the end. he lovess facials and always rubs the cum in using his tip. he keeps a photo of you with his cock on your face and cum in your mouth as his wallpaper.
“s-shit baby… deeper, little more”
“you can take it, i know you can baby”
“just make me feel good okay?”
RYOMEN SUKUNA AKA THROAT DESTROYER
uhm yeah… what did you expect. does not give a shit about you when his cock is in your mouth. keeps you at the edge of the bed with your head hanging off and his fucking your mouth like a fleshlight. goes so deep his cock is showing in your throat. your gags make him want to go another round. plugs your nose when you’re deep throating so you can’t breath.
“until my jaw locks” yeah he took that as a challenge. loves tying you up with a low vibrator on your clit while he fucks that mouth as torture. you honestly don’t know if you love it or hate it. Sukuna loves it though, that’s for sure. cums deep in your throat, every time. will face fuck you again if he sees you didn’t swallow it all.
“fuck gag on that dick, bitch”
“i can see my cock in your throat! but who’s surprised?”
“you better swallow my seed… it’ll probably reach your stomach with how deep i am”
CHOSO KAMO AKA WHINY B!TCH
again, who’s surprised. he thought handjobs were great… but this? whole different level. you start but sucking on the tip until he’s sensitive. then you lick stripes up and down his veins. you use soo much spit and he loves it. he loves it when you press kisses to his cock and then deep throat it.
hes mesmerized by the way your head moves, the way your lips look. he has to force himself to not throw his head back so he can see you. one time he got ahead of himself and snapped his hips up and you choked on him, best day of his life. when he found out your throat felt like that? no going back. he begs you to deep throat him all the time.
“more… more more more. please baby!”
“remember how good i eat you out? please treat me good”
“i know it’s too deep! im sorry i can’t stop baby”
SUGURU GETO AKA NICE N SLOW
just into good old fashioned blowjobs. your hand kept at the base and your lips move up and down his shaft. he wants your tongue swirling over it like a lollipop. he brushes your hair out of your face to see your expressions. he’s so gentle and nice when it comes to blowjobs.
let’s you grind on his leg while you suck him off. mostly uses it as foreplay and not a main way to get off. likes for your spit to act as lube for him to slide in. if he was gonna cum from a bj it would be on your tits. he loves that.
“fuck keep that up and i’ll cum”
“let it get hard in your mouth… that’s right”
“don’t give me those innocent eyes, slut”
NANAMI KENTO AKA UNDER THE DESK
oh you’ll support your working man, from under the desk. he’s so stressed about work these days and you have just the solution! you showed up to his home office in skimpy lingerie and without saying a word you crawl under his desk and get to work. he gets so flustered so fast, blushing and stuttering about how his report is due.
grips the chair so tight when you start working your magic. he doesn’t want to thrust up because he knows he’ll bruise your throat. uses his belt to wrap around your neck and guide you instead. pulls your hair an insane amount. cums in your mouth but likes to watch it pour out onto your body.
“i’m working baby… you’ll get me too distracted”
“wrap that belt around your neck, be a good assistant”
“is this you saying thank you for being my sugar daddy?”
TOJI FUSHIGURO AKA TWO HANDS
he’s so big you need to use your hands or else he might pop out on the other side of your neck. you’re moving your hands and your mouth at a similar pace. he definitely teaches you how he wants it. he guides your head to a good rhythm and then lets you do your thing.
maybe he’ll have a cigarette hanging out his mouth when you suck it. blowing smoke in your face to tease you. definitely makes fun of the fact that you can’t take all of him. your jaw has to be open so wide to get him in. cums everywhere, your face, throat, tits. doesn’t matter, if it’s you he’ll cum there.
“don’t just move your hands up and down baby, turn em”
“your face looks so fucking small next to my dick!”
“c’mon, try harder to take it or else i’ll force you to”

READ AT YOUR OWN CAUTION ⛧ MDNI
[ 07th October, 2024 ]
Thunder crackles, and lightning strikes. The heavy rain pitter-patters on the windows and roofs. Water flows, flooding the streets, making them inhabitable to unlucky strays. Chaos brews outside, and you observe it from within the safety of your home.
A ‘meow’ shifts your attention. You smile at the cat you rescued from the storm and rub its head. It meows again and shuffles to the living room, black fur disappearing behind the couch.
“-And everyone is requested to stay at home or take shelter till further notifications. Police’s investigation into the recent murders have been halted due to the storm. We request everyone to stay sa—”
The television cuts off and comes alive again, buzzing and glitching. You turn it off with a sigh. Except for the pitter-patter of the rain, your home is silent. The silence lays heavy on the walls and floors. You can’t seem to fill it no matter what. Your hand involuntarily touches the pendant your husband gifted you. Muttering a prayer to Him, you ask for Jeonghan's safe return to you.
[ ... ]
The gentle sizzle of the vegetables fills your ears, and you pour water into the vessel, turning down the flame.
Your newly adopted cat nuzzles between your legs, purring with content at the warmth. You smile and coo at it. But before you can adore it further, the doorbell rings.
You wipe your hands, contemplating whether or not to attend it. It couldn't be Jeonghan. You sigh and walk to the door. The black furball stays in the kitchen, observing you with its yellow eyes.
Looking through the peephole, you see someone shivering from the cold and absolutely drenched. Your hands fly to unlock the door, and the person is startled at the force you open it.
“Come in, please!” you move from his way. He nods his head with gratitude and walks in weakly.
Quickly shutting the door, you lock it. The stranger turns to see you secure the array of locks on the door. You greet him with a smile. He smiles back.
“I'm sorry for the inconvenience,” he apologizes, but you assure him and welcome him into your home. “Oh no, It's fine. I don't mind some company.”
He removes his drenched coat and hangs it on the coat hanger. While doing so, he notices another coat on it. “Is it just you at home, miss?”
“Mrs.” You correct him and reply, “Yes, my husband is out of town for business.”
He also removes his shoes and places them near the door, noticing another pair of shoes. “May I ask you why you are out in such a storm?”
“Ah, I turned up for work and my friend who was supposed to pick me didn't turn up.”
You give him an apologetic nod and gesture towards your living room. “Please make yourself at home. I'll quickly put together a warm soup for you.”
He tries to protest, but you reason with him and disappear into the kitchen. He sits on the sofa with a sigh and thanks God for helping him at the right time.
The low purr of a cat catches his attention. A black cat sits in the middle of the living room. It stares at him, and he awkwardly smiles at it and tries to distract himself. It leaves eventually.
The interior of your home mesmerizes him, reminding him of those vintage homes. The teal wallpapers and the antique decors mesh well together and create a homely look. The myriad of pictures on the wall near the kitchen intrigues him.
He walks towards it and observes each photo. He sees you in all of the frames, along with a man whom he deduces to be your husband. He sees all types of pictures, varying from road trips to studio ones.
“Is your husband a celebrity by any chance, Mrs. Yoon?” He inquires after seeing a frame with the writing, ‘Mr. and Mrs. Yoon.’ A vague feeling of familiarity brews in him the more he looks at your husband.
“Ah, no, no. He's devilishly handsome and he could be a great actor but he only does business.” You voice from within the kitchen, but his mind drains you out. He's more fixated on the pictures, unable to shake the feeling.
He doesn't say anything after that, but you don't mind the silence. Quietly humming, you put together the soup. You smile to yourself, thinking of your husband. If he had been here, he'd be behind you, arms wrapped around your waist as he peppers kisses on your neck.
Your daydream feels almost real as you feel a presence behind you. Chuckling, you shake your head and move to grab a bowl. But before you could, a voice shouts behind you.
“Did you kill him?!” The stranger yells, anger surging through his voice. Confusion strikes you, “What do you mean?”
You try to distance yourself from him and grab a knife. His hand catches your wrist harshly, and you cry out. Acting on your instincts, you fling the pot of soup at him. He yelps as the hot liquid makes contact with his skin.
With him muttering a plethora of curses, you run out of the kitchen. The cat observes the chaos, slowly wagging its tail. The stranger blindly moves to the sink and splashes water on his face to wash off the soup.
After gaining composure, he trudges out of the kitchen with a meat knife. He checks every door and room, eyes darting to all corners to find you. His skin stings and burns painfully. He winces but doesn't let it deter him.
The floor creaks beneath his foot, and he doesn't care if it alerts you. He wants you to know where he is, to be afraid of him. He wants to make you feel fear.
A smirk pulls his lips when he notices the basement door open. He stands in front of it, observing the steep set of stairs. As he descends down, a foul stench hits him, and he covers his nose.
He struggles to find the light switch and crashes into a few things. The stench is unbearable, and he cringes. After finally finding the switch, he turns it on.
Light illuminates the room, but some things are better hidden in the dark, like the dead guy tied to the wall. He can't find it in himself to scream or even utter a word. The only noise that escapes him is a gasp.
His horror intensifies when he recognizes it as his friend. “You fucking bitch! You killed him!”
But it seems that there are far graver things than his dead friend. The red pentagram etched on the ground makes his skin crawl. A turn of his head also reveals a board pinned with a map that has pictures of people pinned on several locations.
His heart stops beating when he finds his own picture on it.
A noise from the cupboard pulls him out of his trance, and he stalks to it. Yanking the door open, he finds you there, cowering in fear. You push him off you and run away from him. But there's no way out with him standing directly in front of the stairs.
He runs to you, pinning you to the wall. “You bitch!” Then, he cackles, “Aww, can't run anywhere now?” His grip tightens, and dread fills your gut. He leans in closer, “You're going to be so sorry for what you did when I gut you.”
You flinch and shut your eyes. The sound of a stab echoes through the room, but you don't feel any pain.
A heavy thud echoes through the room, followed by the sound of a body falling on the floor. Warm blood dots on your face, and some stain the cotton of your slip. You gasp and shudder, chest heaving as you struggle to breathe. Your eyes land on the injured body. Blood flows from his mouth and his chest. Three holes punctured through his chest.
You don’t need to look at him to figure out who your savior is. “Jeonghan!” you cry, throwing your arms around him. The garden fork he yields in his hands meets the floor as he hurries to take you in his embrace.
Your lips are on his instantly, kissing him with ardor. He matches your passion, both his hands on your waist, pulling you flush against him. You curl your arms around his neck, lost in the warmth of his lips. It isn’t long before his tongue prods your lips, and you’re more than happy to oblige.
His tongue glides over yours like it has countless other times. He shifts his head to gain a better angle and kisses you deeper. One of your hands uncurls to caress his face—his flawless skin, his high cheekbones, the bone of his jaw before it slides down further. You glide your hand over his shoulders, his lean biceps, and finally his crotch.
Jeonghan pulls away, out of breath and overjoyed. You mirror his grin when you find him rock-hard beneath his slacks. “Oh, how I missed seeing you kill,” you finish with a giggle.
With a playful roll to his eyes, he retorts, “it’s been barely four days since I did it.”
“And four days since I’ve seen you.” you pout, making him doe eyes at him. He melts instantly and cradles your face. “Always hungry aren’t you?”
“For you? Yes.”
“And for blood.” he adds, making you both giggle.
“Come on now, you gave me something to take care of.” With a pat on his bulge, you pull him up the stairs. Jeonghan happily follows but throws a cautious glance at the presumably dead body. He smiles, catching no sign of life in him, and trails behind you.
You strut to the dining table that adjoins the kitchen and the living room and sit on it. He grins at your place of choice, and lust taints his visage when you spread your legs, inviting him.
He stands between your thighs, taking a moment to appreciate the beauty in front of him. Little drops of blood decorate your face, but the look in your eyes entrances him. A myriad of emotions swirl beneath your irises, but he recognizes all of them, mainly lust and hunger.
His eyes dip down to the column of your neck, which he glides his forefinger over. His finger slowly ventures down and undoes the knot of your slip. He tuts, complaining about the blood on them. “That’s fine. It gives me evidence of your love.”
“I’m right here. The living proof of my love for you,” he pecks your lips and pushes the slip off you.
He pulls you to the edge of the table. His fingers ghost over the cloth of your underwear, brushing against the wet spot on them. His warm breath wafts down to your breasts when he kisses your neck and chest. “I can prove it now, if you want me to.”
A breathy moan escapes you, giving him somewhat of a ‘yes.’ With another kiss to your jugular, he pulls away and kneels down. He kisses your heat through the cotton material and smirks, eyeing the wet patch formed by your arousal. In one sly movement, he removes your hipsters. His lips are on your heat before you can process it. He kisses your little nub and gives kitten licks to your hole. His eyes dart to your eyes, mischief swirling under his dark irises. “Jeonghan! Please!”
“Please what sweetheart? You have to use your words.” You feel his smile on your core, and his warm breath wafts against it.
“Please, eat me out!”
He groans and obliges to your wishes right away. He dives right in, licking and kissing your folds. He moves above, wrapping your clit between his soft lips. He sucks on the bundle of nerves, tongue flicking at the bud softly. He makes sure to look at you the entire time he’s buried between your legs.
You relax and lay back down on the table. He spreads your legs further and licks up stripes on your sopping cunt. His tongue provides you the utmost pleasure, and moans fall from your lips freely. He switches to a slower pace as if he’s making out with your cunt.
His tongue prods your folds, licking and savoring your taste. His hand moves to spread your lips, and he places a wet, loud kiss on your clit. A gasp escapes you when his tongue slips past your hole. He slowly moves his tongue in and out while he thumbs at your clit, drawing circles.
He tones up his pace, getting faster and faster. Your legs tremble around his head as the coil in your stomach tightens. You cum the easiest whenever Jeonghan touches you after a “long time”—which is three days at the least. He seems to have some magic hidden up his sleeve to bring you the utmost pleasure possible. And, of course, all your years of marriage add to it.
The pressure on your clit builds up, causing your entire body to shudder and tremble. Your back arches, lifting off the table, but Jeonghan pushes you down, holding you firmly. And now that he has secured a tight grip on your hips, there is no escape from his tongue.
“Jeonghan!” you moan his name, hand shooting to grip his black locks. You push his head further into your cunt and move your hips in sync with his tongue. He smiles lazily between your legs, eyes holding nothing but awe and mirth.
The coil snaps, pushing you over the crescendo of pleasure. Wanton moans fill the room, and you cum on his tongue, giving him all your sweet nectar. Jeonghan licks you dry, caressing your trembling legs before he stands up.
Though you achieved your climax, the sight of your husband undoing his belt warms you up again. You sit up eagerly, hands flying to unbuckle his belt and slacks. He only chuckles, patting your head and muttering a low coo of ‘that's my girl.’
He slips off his shirt along with his slacks and boxers. It prompts you to undo your brassiere, presenting yourself bare to him. With a grin, he approaches you. You fawn at his rock-hard cock and undo your legs unconsciously.
Overwhelmed with the urge to feel him inside you, you pull him to you. He crashes his lips on yours in the process, giving you a searing kiss that sets your body aflame with desire. Your hands don't stay put, eager to roam all over his body. He does the same, hands relearning the route of your body for the nth time.
The heat of his body on yours melts your brain, knocking every thought out of you. The only thing you remember is his name and the way he makes you feel. Not the dire situation at play now or the dead body in your basement.
The brush of his fingers on your nipples, the poke of his cock against your inner thigh, the sensation of your sweltering skin making contact with his, the glide of his tongue on yours—all of it pushes you over the edge, driving you insane. Your arousal drips down your core, and it throbs with desire.
“Hannie,” you whine his name, your desire burning with a rage only he can control. “Fuck me.”
“As you wish, dollface.”
His cock slips past your entrance with ease, filling you up in an instant. You hook your legs behind him, your foot digging into his back to push him in further. Your gummy walls envelop him in a warm hug that makes him dizzy.
You moan in unison when he bottoms out, in bliss with how perfectly he fills you. Throwing your arms around his neck, you prompt him to move. The first thrust is easy, given how your cunt drips down with arousal. It fills you with a pleasure that makes your body tremble.
He sets his pace, fucking you with eagerness. Each slap of his balls against your ass makes your eyes roll to the back of your head, and you cling to him for dear life. Sinful moans rumble from your throat with each snap of his hips.
His lips find yours again, but this time the kiss is sloppy and messy, with moans passed between your tongues and erratic snap of his hips. You meet his hips with the same vigor. You fuck him with an animalistic desire in your veins, and he gives you back just the same.
“Ah—fuck! God, I love fucking after we kill.” you yelp between your moans. He groans, replying with a “fuck, yes.”
Jeonghan grips your hips firmly, driving his cock in and out of you with a vigorous pace that numbs your nerves. Your nails dig into his back, and you scratch his delicate skin, leaving red marks for him to admire. “Ah, ah, ah, ah!” you moan, unable to control your pleasure. The table squeaks in response to the vigor of his hips. You press your tits against his chest, desperate to feel more of his warmth.
You look down to where your body meets him. The sight of his cock disappearing into your cunt with a wet squelch each time makes you moan. A creamy ring forms at the base of his cock, and some of your arousal drips down to the table.
Jeonghan shifts one of his hands to harshly grip the back of your head, forcing you to look up at him. A grin decorates his face at the hazy look in your eyes. He keeps up his pace while moving his other hand to squeeze your mouth open. You push your tongue out eagerly, waiting for him to spit in your mouth. He does, and you happily taste him before swallowing it.
“Good girl,” he kisses your forehead, sliding his hand down to wrap around your throat. He grips your throat, squeezing it lightly. A chuckle erupts from his chest, watching your eyes roll back. He kisses your forehead again, only for him to deliver light slaps to your cheeks. Warmth pools in his chest when you whine and push yourself closer to him.
“Fuck, I love it when you go dumb on my cock.” He whispers into your ear, tickling you with his breath. His cock kisses your sweet spot, and you feel him twitching inside you.
You clench around him on purpose. He groans a low curse, and his movements turn erratic. You continue to do so till he eventually stops, whining a string of curses. “Stop it. Stop doing that,”
Obliging to his wishes, you observe him as he takes a few seconds to compose himself. His eyelids flutter, and his lips fall apart as he tries to regain control. A knowing smirk graces your lips, knowing the effect you have on him.
“Brat,” you only giggle in response, which is cut short when he thrusts with a force that has you shuddering. His tip kisses your cervix, sending shudders of pleasure through your body. Tears prick your waterline and eventually cascade down your cheek as you cry out his name.
All it takes is one more thrust to push you over the crescendo again. This time, it's more intense and mind-numbing. You moan his name over and over again, like a prayer for salvation. He follows suit and fills his load inside you, shuddering the same as you.
His hands wrap around you tightly and, yours around him. Leaning your head against his shoulders, you catch your breath and try to control the shivers through your body. His warm breath on your back calms you, and so do his feather-light touches.
Your eyelids feel heavy as slumber descends upon you. And, before you know it, you fall asleep in his arms.
[ … ]
“We have to let the others know about this,” Jeonghan informs, stirring his cup of tea with a spoon. You nod wordlessly, sipping your own cup of tea.
Slumber hasn't left you completely, and the tiredness weighs down on your bones. Your eyes slowly close shut again, and you lean back on the loveseat. Jeonghan sighs to himself, setting his cup down on the coffee table. He takes away yours before you can spill it on yourself.
Your soft groans make his heart flutter, and you stir awake again. The first thing you see is your husband sitting on the floor as he massages your legs.
“Poor thing, you must've had a hard time.” The pout on his lips makes you smile. “Not really,” you chirp, feeling more energetic as the seconds pass.
“Oh really?” he muses, and you hum. He shakes his head, worry marring his features. “What if I didn't get here on time? Why did you even allow him in?”
“I was bored.” To which he glares at you, a tired sigh falling from his lips.
“And, He visited.”
Jeonghan stops massaging your legs and looks up at you, confused. You see the tinge of fear in the clench of his jaw and the hold of his breath. You point to the black cat that has made itself home despite all the chaos that went down a few hours ago.
He visibly calms down and bows his head at the cat meows in return. He looks back at your smiling figure, and it strikes him. “Right, I asked for your safety to Him.”
“He saw our pictures,” your words barely audible as you look at the big wall covered with all your pictures with him. A soft smile graces your lips when your eyes fall on your wedding picture. 14th October, 1949.
Then you cackle, recalling the realization and terror on that guy's face. “Oh, you should've seen his face.” Jeonghan laughs along with you and resumes his ministrations on your legs. You relax on the cushion and let out a blissful sigh.
He sighs and zeroes in on the blood spots on your vintage slip. One of his many gifts to you, and it's something you've treasured for over seven decades.
“Ugh, it's fine. You can always buy me a new one.” You say, and a smirk adorns your lips when your eyes fall on the Johnny Cash vinyl on the shelf. You stand and walk towards it, pulling it out gently.
You flash your husband a grin, and he mirrors your visage. Placing the vinyl on the platter of the vinyl player, you move the tonearms and set it on the vinyl.
The world tunes into a buzzing background as you dance with him. His hands are gentle on you, holding you delicately. The setting is all a little too familiar to him, and before he knows it, he takes a trip down memory lane.
But the only one he can remember is the time when he almost lost you to death. The image of your bed-stricken figure flashes through his mind. He holds you a little closer.
In his life plan, Jeonghan never even imagined that you'd be diagnosed with cancer fifteen years into your marriage. Nothing held out, and it was hard to be optimistic with his wife on the lifeline.
And as he was holding your pained body in his arms, he cried and cried. What kind of god would allow this? Why should you be taken away? He felt life slowly slip out of you, and he couldn’t stop it.
They say to never pray to the gods that answer at night, but that’s all he could do. Turning his back on religion and righteousness. His love for you blinded all reason, and he yearned to be in your embrace once again. He could never live without you—what he feels is an immortal desire, lust, love. Even if he is to die, the ground around him will flourish and sprout your favorite flowers—an amaranthine yearning.
So he did it. He prayed and prayed, and when He finally answered, he vowed to do anything and everything that He wished for. Immortality for the curse of bloodied hands. He cringed at the sight of blood staining his skin, but as your bloodied hand intertwined with his, all felt right and in place.
His hands take purchase on your hips, holding you as you sway to the gentle hum of the music. You smile at him and lean on his shoulders, content in his embrace. He mirrors your smile and kisses your forehead.
What a blessing it is to be here with you? To gently sway to some music in the living room of your home with your blood-stained slips and his stained soul?
He kisses you, and you kiss him back. You bite his lips just enough to draw blood. A thousand ways to bleed, but you are his favorite.

The bumbling sounds from your tiny kitchen caught your attention as soon as you got out of the phone call with your sister's husband. Once one anxious thought was gone, another one appeared out of the blue - what were they doing in there? They weren't messing with the boxes, were they? You took a deep breath, trying to calm down enough for you to have an interaction without yelling.
Rolling up your sleeves, you walked into your kitchen to deal with the next situation. The walls were covered with stacked boxes, so you almost couldn't see the old wallpaper. The noises were coming from your kitchen table, which still wasn't packed up. Vernon was sitting at the table with your niece, and the two of them had put out a paper plate with whatever snacks they could find, three glasses, and a bottle of water.
Your shoulders relaxed as you watched the two of them play pretend. They had clearly been trying to help you pack but had gotten distracted by your miscellaneous items. Vernon was wearing one of your scarves on his head and an old pair of sunglasses you had forgotten about - your niece wearing a matching pair. However, as soon as he saw you come in, he took off the glasses and sent you a gentle smile.
"Is everything okay?" he asked.
It was all so ridiculous. Your sister was in the middle of an unexpectedly early childbirth, in the middle of you getting ready to move into your boyfriend's apartment, and here he was: playing dress-up with your niece. In some weird way, it was just what you needed - how Vernon could know you had no idea.
"She's fine," you finally replied with a tired smile. "It was a little bit of a surprise, but everything seems to be okay... what are the two of you doing?"
"We're just-"
"Stay in character!" your niece complained.
Vernon mouthed "Sorry," before putting the sunglasses back on and turning back to your niece. With his usual, matter-of-fact voice, he asked her what she thought about the weather. Your niece picked up her glass and took a sip of the water, making an exaggerated "ahh" as she put it back down.
"Too much rain," she responded with a nonchalant wave of her hand.
You could see Vernon have to restrain himself from laughing, his hand flying up to cover his smile. After clearing his throat, he nodded in agreement. You should be packing up the last of your stuff, the moving truck will arrive soon, and you should probably text your sister's husband again to ask him to send you updates. But right now, you could feel how tired you were in your bones. So, you sat down on the third chair and let Vernon pour you a glass of water. Then, he picked up the paper plate and held it out to you.
"Gummy worm?" he asked.
"How old are those?" You chuckled as you inspected the candies on the plate.
"I have no idea," he admitted. "But the cookies are from last week, I think."
You took a cookie and silently thanked him. Vernon and your niece continued their conversation about rain, which took a sharp turn when Vernon mentioned thunder - which was apparently very controversial in your niece's eyes. Any anxious feelings you had over moving in with Vernon were slowly disappearing. For a moment, you could truly let go of everything as Vernon kept your niece busy - and if he acted like this in a moment of crisis, maybe the two of you would do well living together.
"Bathroom break!" your niece suddenly exclaimed, clapping her hands together once to signal that the scene was over.
She hopped off her chair and walked away to your small bathroom. You had already taken all of the boxes out of there, so you knew that she would be okay on her own.
"She's a little director," Vernon said.
"She is," you murmured.
He gave you a long look, a silent "Are you really okay?" to which you responded with a nod. Vernon moved his chair closer to yours, wrapping his arms around you and slowly patting your head.
"You're doing good, babe," he muttered against the top of your head.
"Thank you."
"I'll go back to packing up and you could sit with her for a bit," he suggested. "Or I could do anything else you need."
"Packing sounds good," you hummed. "I just need to make sure she's not feeling neglected or anything, you know? My sister was worried."
Vernon let go of you and grabbed your hand to give it a comforting squeeze. He was still wearing the scarf and the sunglasses, and you could no longer keep a straight face. You snort and turn away from him, trying to shield yourself from breaking out into even more laughter.
"What?" he asked and tried to make you look at him again. "Am I not pretty?"
After taking a deep breath, you look back at him with a contained grin. Vernon cocks his head at you, clearly aware of the way he looks now but also determined to keep you smiling. Your niece eventually came back from the bathroom and climbed back onto her chair. The two of you looked at her expectantly as she cleared her throat.
"Bathroom break's over!" she chimed.
"Honey," you said carefully. "Is it okay if Vernon goes away to pack some more stuff and I stay here with you?"
Your niece glanced back and forth between the two of you before extending her hand to Vernon. He carefully removed his scarf and glasses and placed them into her small, outstretched palm.
"You've been replaced!" your niece exclaimed dramatically as she handed you the items. "I'll give you the roll as long as you stay in character!"
As you and Vernon erupted into laughter, your niece continued to mimic the voice of a director before she eventually joined you in your mirth. Everything that could go wrong today, did go wrong - yet, it felt bearable with Vernon by your side. Observing his banter with your niece might have seemed like a man simply engaging in make-believe with his partner's niece others, but to you, it was a deeply serene and comforting scene. You knew with certainty that your future was in reliable hands.

the only exception | beomgyu x reader
pairing: beomgyu x female reader
content: love at first sight au, summer love thingy, lots of reference to paramore's the only exception and txt's our summer, pda
tw: mentions of fight and blood
words count: 12k
notes: reposting because of high demand (lol)
preview:
you were not the type to believe in the existence of love. to you, there was no such a thing as true love; no such a thing as unwavering, unbreakable, and unparalleled fondness and devotion for someone. to you, people love to get something they desire in return — money, power, status, pride. your parents were a living prove of that
the day you were old enough to understand the lack of love and affection between your parents to each other, and to you; you swore to never grow that feeling to anyone — family, friends, partner. anyone. because to you, love did not exist.
you were content living that way for years, not happy, but content.
the absence of love in your life protected you from attachment, heartbreak, sorrow — those negative emotions that you deemed unnecessary and unworthy to be sitting inside of you.
life was okay without love, you thought.
until you had to spend the rest of your summer with a distant relative whom you've never met in your entire life, in a small town with an ocean view, where fate had brought you a boy whose eyes shine brighter than any stars in the night sky.
and maybe, just maybe, love does exist.
a comforting smell of freshly brewed chamomile tea wafting in the air as you make your way inside the unfamiliar home — the one you will be spending three months in because your parents are way too busy flying around across the globe to be taking care of you.
"come on in, y/n." the woman in front of you speaks, her voice soft, the type of voice a kindergarten teacher would have.
maybe she was one, you have no idea. in fact, you know nothing about the woman standing in a yellow dress in front of you. she is pretty, even though it is evident her aging is slowly creeping up to her from the way her skin wrinkles on the corner of her eyes when she smiles. but to you, she is pretty- the mother-like kind of pretty. the kind of pretty that makes you feel warm inside.
but again, you know nothing about her. have never seen her in your entire life. never even heard her name from any of your parents until today.
aunty sue.
that was the name your mom had told you in the car this morning when she was dropping you off at the train station, she couldn't even make some time to drive you straight here, and telling you the woman is a distant cousin of hers whom she hasn't met in a long time. and that was also the name the said woman had introduced herself to you.
"do you want some tea, honey? or anything else?" she asks, making her way into the kitchen as you trail behind her like a little lost puppy.
"tea is fine," you reply.
leaning against the kitchen counter, you roam your eyes around the room. some parts of the walls are painted in pastel green while another part is decorated with a plaid wallpaper with the same color — just a shade darker. the counter tops are full of kitchen appliances, cookbooks, sunflower patterned dishes, and freshly washed vegetables along with some other things. there are random little trinkets on the windowsill — a wooden carved statue of a cat, a line of herbs in old tomato cans, and a sun catcher being hung at the corner of the window making tiny little rainbows refracting inside the kitchen.
the furniture of the dining area does not match with each other — one wooden chair with a striking blue cushion, a yellow wicker chair and another two plastic chairs in white. though everything is mismatch, it doesn't look weird. it feels right, even.
it feels like home.
very different from your house where nothing is ever out of place. the countertops made of slick white marble, picked personally by your mother, are always shiny as if no one has ever touched it. truthfully speaking, they kind of are. no one is ever cooking in that kitchen. you bet the only stains that has dirtied that counter was that one time you spilled your morning coffee on it. the stove, it looks brand new compared to the one in front of you right now which looks like it has been in service for more than a decade with how rusty it looks.
everything in your house is perfect to the tee. a façade that is what you like to think — to mask the family's imperfections.
a house that never felt like a home.
"i'm going to keep my stuff in my room first, i'll be right back," you say as you pull your luggage with you.
"sure, honey. your room is the second door on the right."
honey.
not even your own mother has ever called you that.
you haul your bag with much difficulty up the stairs, cursing yourself mentally for overpacking, before making your way to the said door. the room is spacious, not as big as your own room back in the city, but still enough to fit a queen-sized bed in the middle, a study desk by the window and a two doors wardrobe in the corner.
the glass sliding doors that lead to the balcony are being left slightly open, the warm summer breeze blowing the white sheer curtain. leaving your luggage by the bed, you make your way over to the balcony — pushing open the sliding door wider as you step out into the outdoor.
to say you are astonished is an understatement. the view in front of you is breath-taking — the house is located on top of the hill, overlooking the neighborhood and the ocean, the season's bright sunlight is making the scenery even more spectacular.
you breath in the air, inhaling the smell of the blue sea with your eyes closed.
there is someone, other than aunty sue, downstairs — you can clearly hear the sound of a male voice which is a little bit too loud to be ignored, talking to the woman in the kitchen about how his mom had forced him to deliver cake to all the houses up the hill in the middle of the day.
"y/n, honey! are you done? come downstairs, please." opening your eyes, you let out a soft sigh as you walk back inside, keeping your eyes on the ocean outside as you close the glass doors.
it's okay, you have the whole three months here. you tell yourself as you make your way back into the kitchen, the guest is still going on about how his little rant.
"i mean, don't get me wrong. i love summer, but to deliver all of them under the sun? god i felt like-.." and as he turns to face you who is standing at the entrance of the kitchen, your breath hitch in your throat.
you're not sure is it the iridescent illumination from the sun catcher beaming on him, or the glow of his skin that is glistening with sweats from biking under the summer rays, or the sparks in his eyes as he stares at you;
but oh god, he is beautiful.
not pretty, but beautiful. the angel-like kind of beautiful. the kind of beautiful that would make people turn their heads. the kind of beautiful that would make you steal glances at him if you were to sit in front of him in a train. the kind of beautiful that makes the ocean view you saw earlier lose its' price.
the once in a lifetime kind of beautiful.
"y/n, this is beomgyu, his mom owns a bakery down the hill."
"oh, this is the girl that you've been telling me about!" he says excitedly as he makes his way over to you, "she's pretty."
and you almost choked on your saliva. how can he be saying things like that so casually?!
"hi, i'm choi beomgyu," he says, extending out his hand for a handshake. "aunty sue told me a lot about you so i'm kind of excited to be your friend, that is if you want, of course."
you look down to his hand, lifting your own as you slowly put it in his. "im y/n,"
though it feels rough, his hand still holds a certain kind of warmth that makes you feel secured. you can feel calluses on his fingertips, too. does he play the guitar?
you're not even sure why you feel bashful under his gaze. you don't understand the warm fuzzy feeling you're getting when he keeps his hand in yours. you don't get why your heart is beating so fast when he says your name, the syllabus rolling perfectly on his tongue like it was made for him and only him to say.
"well then, i look forward to hanging out with you, y/n."
the conscious side of your brain is already blaring an alarm, telling you to turn him down, telling you that no, you don't want to hang out with him. that no, you don't look forward to spending your summer with him.
but despite that, you find yourself nodding to his words. "me too, choi beomgyu."
it has been three days since you have first arrived, and you have concluded that choi beomgyu is a man of his words.
you didn't think much when he told you that he looks forward to hanging out with you, thinking that he was just being nice to a newcomer and to act friendly to you.
because that's all you have ever known — people acting nicely to you.
you remember when you used to associate in a group of girls back in middle school; it was one of the worst times of your life. eleven years old you were so naïve (read: stupid) to realize that those girls were just using you for your unlimited amount of cash — always inviting you to go shopping, forcing you to throw fancy sleepovers — until one day one of them literally had to scream in your face that they were only hanging out with you for your daddy's money.
and since then, you have never tried to befriend anyone and those around you never approached or asked you to hang out, either.
so, it is a surprise to you that choi beomgyu stays true to his words.
yesterday, he had come over early in the morning looking as beautiful as you had remembered the first time you saw him; asking you if you want a little tour of the small town. you had declined, telling him you still had a few things left to unpack, leaving the boy pouting. you had felt slightly bad, just slightly.
you are in the backyard with aunty sue, picking up some ripe tomatoes from the small garden. she told you she has been tending this small part of her backyard for almost seven years now, planting
various kinds of vegetables, using the excuse of she doesn’t like the ones sold in the market, when in reality she just really loves gardening and watching her plants come to live day by day.
“is the tomato that interesting to you?”
you jump in surprise as you hear a low voice speaking next to your ear. turning around, you find a grinning beomgyu looking down at you. he peeks under your straw hat, trying to have a better look at
your face. “you look like a tomato yourself.”
you frown, “what do you mean by that?!”
he bends, hands resting on his knees, now being eye to eye level with you. humming, he continues to study your face.
there is always something about him that never fails to make blood rush to your face. yesterday it was the way he dressed — white sleeveless top tucked messily inside his black jeans. it was simple, nothing outstanding about it but to you, he was breath-taking. and today; it’s the way he’s looking deep into your eyes, eyelashes fluttering against his cheeks with every blink.
the rational part of you is telling you to push him aside or to move away, to break the eye contact. but the other part that you have no idea existed inside of you until you met him few days ago, is telling you to keep staring into his sparkling eyes, to play along to whatever little game he has put on.
the rational part of you won as you take a step back, creating a safe distance between your figure and his. you can feel your cheeks flushed, fully blaming it on the warm temperature as you had been
standing under the sun for quite a while now.
“your cheeks are so red, like a tomato.” he giggles, “are you hot?”
you look away from him, hiding your face under your hat as you whisper, “k-kinda…”
he was about to move closer to you again, hand reaching over to your hat, but it stops mid-air when aunty sue is calling over for the both of you. thanking the lord and savior, you quickly make an escape
from him as you walk over to where your aunty is standing with a plate full of freshly cut watermelon in hand.
you sit beside her on the porch, while beomgyu is standing right in front of you. “tell your mom i say thank you for the watermelon,” aunty sue says and the boy just hums, hand reaching down to pick up two pieces of the sliced fruit, handing one over to you.
you thank him quietly and he smiles down at you, “you will never find a watermelon as sweet and juicy as the ones that my grandfather planted.” he boasts, and aunty sue make a sound as what sounds
like she is agreeing with him. “that’s right, mr.choi planted the best watermelon in the country.”
the scorching heat of the sun calls for you to take a bite of the fruit – it is sweet, just like what beomgyu had said. “it’s so good,” you speak under your breath. you’re not sure how he manages to hear what
you said but he did, as the smile on his face grow wider. “right? i told you!”
he waits for you to finish the slice in your hand before handing you another one, all the while still towering in front of you.
“sit down, beomgyu.” your aunty says to him to which the boy just shakes his head. “i’m protecting y/n from the sun,” he replies casually, taking a bite of the watermelon “she looks like a real tomato
right now.”
both you and aunty sue look up to him in sync. he is, indeed, covering you away from the sun — being tall makes it easier for him to shield you away from the direct sunlight of the summer rays but his back
is taking up all the consequences of his action as you can see droplets of sweat forming on of his neck, sliding down to his back.
you glance to aunty sue, a coy smile on her lips. “j-just sit down!” you scold him, pulling him down by his wrist to sit beside you on the wooden veranda.
aunty sue giggles, “talking about tomato, do you want to bring some home, beomgyu?”
he shakes his head, “thanks, aunty sue but no one in that house enjoys eating tomato.”
“but i do want to ask for your permission to steal this cute tomato away from you for the night,” he says as he pokes your cheek with his index finger to which you move slightly away. “my friends are doing a bonfire by the cliff later, i was thinking to bring y/n along.”
you hesitate, gaze moving from his face to your aunty’s. “you can go, y/n. it’s much more fun to hang out with people your age rather than spending time with me,” she ensures you.
you look back to beomgyu, his eyes hopeful as he waits for your answer.
“okay, then.” you finally give in, a wide smile making its’ way across his face.
he stands up, one hand in the pocket of his pants as he bends down to look at your face, again.
“see you tonight then, tomato.”
one conclusion you can come up after spending a good half an hour with choi beomgyu is that he does not have a sense of personal space — not that you mind, at least for now when you are surrounded by unfamiliar teenagers laughing and chattering around the bonfire.
you’ve been stuck to his side since the moment you reached the cliff. it’s not like you are that comfortable with him but out of everyone here, he is the only person you know. despite that, choi beomgyu looks like he is that comfortable with you — hand on the small of your back while walking, wrapping his flannel around your waist so that you won’t get your shorts dirty (when in reality he just doesn’t like the way the other boys are looking at the exposed skin of your legs), sitting too close you can feel his shoulder brushing against yours as he moves.
truthfully, you would have been so annoyed. but this is choi beomgyu. he is choi beomgyu and you have no idea what’s about him that makes you feel so protected. even now when he has his hand on top of your right knee while he’s talking to his friends, you don’t feel irritated.
it feels right. he feels right.
“beomgyu!” someone calls him over from behind. he sighs, “i’m gonna go talk to him for a while, you’ll be alright here, right?” he asks to which you just nod your head.
what is he expecting you to say answer? no, don’t leave me, beomgyu. as if you would ever say that out loud.
the warmth of his palm leaves your skin as he gets up, making his way over to the blue-haired boy that was calling for him. your let your eyes linger on him, watching as he gives the guy a fist bump before
both of their gaze move to you and you quickly look away.
“you’re y/n, right?” a guy who is sitting in front of you speaks.
you nod, “hueningkai, right?” you ask, remembering his name after beomgyu had introduced you to him earlier. and you glad you did from the way his eyes lit up when you get his name right. years of
attending charity events and parties where you were forced to talk to random people by your parents has thought you to imprint people’s names on your mind easily.
“heard you’re from the city. how is the life there? i really want to live there someday, it’s really boring here,” he pouts. “the nearest mall is like, miles away.”
“i think it’s fun here,”
“yeah? and why is that?”
you go quiet for a moment. why is that? — there are various reasons why you think the town is not as boring as hueningkai believes. for an example, the ocean. there is no beach in the city, the nearest one being a whole hour drive away. the air here is cleaner too, not as polluted with vehicles smokes as the city. the weather here is nice too; though it’s summer, the heat here isn’t as bad as it is back
home.
and as your mind try to come up with another reason why you think the town is fun, your eyes move over to the brown-haired boy laughing along to whatever joke the blue-haired one has said to him.
even in the darkness of the night — the only source of light coming from the fire in front of you, he is still beautiful. the way he throws his head back as he laughs, the way his eyes are sparkling under the
night sky, the dimple that appears on his cheek as he smiles.
“it’s fun because there’s beomgyu, right?”
you turn your attention to the boy sitting across from you, his eyes on the same person you were staring few seconds ago.
“do you like him?” hueningkai asks, out of sudden.
“w-what?” you look at him, bewildered. “i don’t know what context of like you are talking about, but he is a good fr-…”
friend.
you so badly wanted to call beomgyu your friend, but you don’t even have the slightest idea of what a friend is — you never had one, at least not a real one. all through your school years, you have never
really had someone you can call as friend. sure, you talked to your classmates, but they felt more like acquaintances than friends. and you never bothered to get close to anyone because you know there
are always something they want in return — money, gifts, invitations to fancy parties, rich kids from your family’s circle to date, the list goes on.
so, you stop yourself from labelling beomgyu in that way. he is not your friend, not after only three days of knowing each other.
“he is a good guy, of course i like him. what kind of person doesn’t like good people?” you say, shifting in your seat to which hueningkai just shrugs his shoulders, “i think he likes yo-…” he stops talking midsentence when someone throws their arm around his neck, holding him in a chokehold.
“taehyun is calling for you,” beomgyu says as he smiles down wickedly at the younger. hueningkai knows his friend is lying but he just rolls his eyes and walks away to where taehyun is sitting.
“let’s go somewhere,” he extends his hand over to you.
“where?”
beomgyu grumbles, “just come.” taking your hand, he pulls you up to your feet.
following him from behind, you have no idea where he is taking you as you both walk further and further away from the group, until you’re climbing down the cliff.
he offers his hand to you, and you gladly accept, “be careful.”
holding your hand in his, he wraps his arm around your waist as he pulls you down to the ground with an ease. the night is pretty chilly compared to the sunlit afternoon earlier, but beomgyu’s hand still
hold a certain kind of warmth. and even though the temperature is low, you still can feel heat rushing up to your face when he keeps his arm around your waist even after you’ve set your feet safely on the
sandy beach — you’re glad it is dark, you don’t think you want him coming up with another vegetable related nickname for you.
“i wanted to bring you here yesterday, but you were busy unpacking. and i wanted to do it today too, but you looked so tired from helping aunty sue,” he says. “i know this is not the best time to be coming
here since it’s so dark but i just thought maybe you would want to see the ocean at night too.”
you move your gaze from his face to the moana in front of you. the water is calm, small waves crashing along the shores. no one else is around, only you and him.
you were about to walk over to the water’s edge when you feel beomgyu tugs on your hand gently. “take off your shoes first, pretty girl.” bending down, he wraps his hand around your ankle before
slowly pulling the white alexander mcqueen off of your foot. beomgyu is surprised, to be honest, to the fact that you casually wear a very expensive pair of sneakers to a lame bonfire party. then again,
these shoes probably didn’t cost that much for you.
“all done, you can go now.” he stands up straight again and he can’t help but notice the pink shade decorating your cheeks even in the inky night, “tomato.” he chuckles, pinching your left cheek.
you gently swat his hand away, blushing deeper, before walking to the water again. you smile as you feel the sand seeps through your toes as the waves crash on the shore. turning around to beomgyu, you see him with a soft smile in his face as he watches you from a distance.
“join me,”
and he can’t seem to decline your offer when you’re looking so ethereal underneath the moonlight, a gentle smile on your lips as you move your feet around to play with the wet sand.
abandoning his cheap pair of sneakers beside your expensive ones, he runs over to where you’re standing back facing him. he pretends to push you further to the ocean to which you react faster, shoving him — making him fall into the water with a big splash.
“hey!” he shrieks, quickly getting up on his feet. you take that as a sign for you to run — in which you didn’t manage to escape far enough when you feel his arms circling around your waist before he pulls you down along with him into the water.
“beomgyu!” you whine while splashing more of the salty water towards him while giggling.
and that night, while you both are walking home, soaked from head to toes with your wet clothes sticking disgustingly on your skin, laughing and giggling, you thought; maybe this is what friendship feels like.
“aunty sue, i’m going out for a while!” you call out your aunt in the kitchen as you’re running down the stairs toward the front door.
she peeks her head from the kitchen’s entrance, “where are you going, honey?”
“beomgyu’s mom’s bakery!” you reply, already stepping outside and you failed to catch the tender smile your aunt is throwing your way as you are busy putting on your shoes. “i’ll be back before dinner.”
when you push open the gate of the house, beomgyu is already waiting for you on his bicycle, a hat in his hand as he offers it over to you. “put it on, it’s too sunny.”
you accept with no question, putting the white hat on. it smells like him — like a mixture of frangipani blossoms, toasted coconut, and bergamot waters. it smells like summer.
he smells like summer.
beomgyu watches as you put his hat on, holding back his smile to how adorable you look trying to tighten the hat’s straps to fit your head’s size. his hand reaches over to your face, tucking a few strands
of your hair that have come loose from your braids behind your ear. “pretty,” he whispers under his breath.
you look away from his eyes, quickly moving to sit on the backseat of his bicycle, wincing as the exposed skin of your thighs come in contact with the burning metal of the seat.
“sorry, chieko has been out in the sun for a while,” he says, referring to his bike. “you good?”
“yeah,” you shift on the seat, trying to find a comfortable position. “you name your bicycle with a dog’s name?”
he hums as he starts paddling, “my grandfather got this bicycle from a japanese owned shop. the owner used to have this really cute golden retriever by the name chieko, i loved him, hence the name.”
he explains, “is it weird?”
“kinda,” you reply to which he just laugh it off.
it has only been a week of summer break and beomgyu had come up with so many plans for the both of you. he has promised to make this, as quoted from the man himself, the best summer of your life
— to which you just responded with a raised eyebrow. you don’t mind spending the whole three months of break with him, you don’t mind at all. in fact, you would really like the idea — but he doesn’t
have to know that.
one of the plans he had come up with is; baking. and that is how you find yourself in the back of his mom’s bakery, with a baby pink apron tied around your waist and beomgyu going around in the
kitchen looking for the ingredients for the fruit strudels he had promise to make with you.
“oh, you must be y/n.”
you turn to the source of the voice, and you quickly bow your head, “ah, yeah. nice to meet you.” the woman in front of you have the same dimple as the one on beomgyu’s, and the way she smiles warmly remind you of her son too.
“you’re really pretty, just like what beomgyu had told me.”
“mom, where’s the peach?” he asks, stopping his mom from exposing him further, as he is rummaging inside the fruit basket on the counter.
the woman giggles, “is our beomgyu shy? is he embarrassed if his mom is going to tell the pretty girl all about the things he had talked about her?” she continues, emphasizing on the pretty girl.
you look over to him and notice how his ears has turned slightly red from his mom’s teasing. you’re not sure why he is acting that way when he has called you with that specific nickname so many times
already.
“mom~” he whines, all the while avoiding your eyes that are fixated on him.
his mom lets out a loud laugh — now you know where beomgyu got that from — as she walks over to the fridge behind you. “i keep them in the here, baby.”
“oh,” he says, taking the peaches from his mom’s hand. “thank you, my lady.” he leans down and kiss his mom’s temple to which his mom playfully pushes him away. the gesture tugs a string in your heart
— a feeling of longing. you can’t remember when was the last time you hugged your mom, or your dad. heck, you can’t even remember when was the last time they asked you about your day.
“have fun baking, y/n. i’m only a shout away if you need something, okay? in case beomgyu burns the kitchen down,” she jokes again before walking out to store again.
beomgyu sighs, “sorry about her. she can be a bit… overbearing sometimes.”
“no, she’s fun.” you says, stepping closer to help him with the fresh fruits.
and that’s how you spent your thursday morning; baking various fruits strudels — peach, strawberry, mango, blueberry. well, it was beomgyu who did most of the work but nevertheless, you had fun
cutting up the fresh fruits.
the oven digs, indicating the pastries have been baked. beomgyu pulls the tray out, before setting it on the flour-covered counter. “oh, it smells amazing!” you exclaim excitedly.
“wait until you taste them, they are,” he looks down at you, making a chef’s kiss gesture to which you just giggle. “well, we have to let them cool down first before putting the cream and the fruits. wanna
go up to my room while we wait?”
you hesitate, never ever in your life have you ever stepped a foot in a boy’s room. despite that, you find yourself nodding to him, “sure.”
he nods, taking off his apron and waits for you to take yours off before snatching it from your hands, hanging them on the hook by the fridge.
following him up to his room which is located at the second floor just right above the bakery, you notice the picture frames decorating the wall going up the stairs. family portraits, baby pictures of
whom you assume are beomgyu and his brother, wedding pictures of his parents, a picture of beomgyu’s kindergarten graduation. it’s like the family’s own little hall of fame.
imagining your house in your mind, you don’t think you have any other picture being hung on the wall aside from that one huge family portrait in the living room — the one where you were looking so rigid
sitting in between your parents. you hated that picture, and you still do. family portraits are supposed to be a symbol of happiness, a symbol of affection, a symbol of a healthy family relationship but your family does not have any of that. the picture that was taken in the fancy film studio in france was just another attempt to cover the family’s despair. it’s pathetic, really. how hard your parents are trying
to come off as a happy married couple with a perfect daughter. throwing the money away for material things that can cover up the lack of happiness in the household. it’s pitiful, the only thing they need to be raising a happy family is the one thing that they lack in life.
a loud chirping at your right as you step onto the landing of the second-floor surprises you. you turn your head to look at the green-colored parrot in the cage. it has its’ head tilted as it stares up at your
unfamiliar face.
“this is toto, my pet.”
“your pet?”
he nods.
“out of all the animals you can have as a pet, you chose a parrot?”
he shrugs, “toto is everyone’s best friend in this house.”
you blink, and he does too.
“oh, okay.” you say and he nods. “come, my room is this way.” he leads you over to the door that has a messy scribble of ‘choi beomgyu’ in colorful crayons, opening it for you and urging you to take step inside. “after you.”
his room is surprisingly neat. well, it’s not like you have seen a guy’s room before but you did assume beomgyu to be a little messy kind of person — the usual clothes on the floor, comic books scattered
on the bed, snacks wrappers on the desk. but his room is clean, no used clothes on the floor, only a round foldable table in the middle of the room.
“how long are we supposed to wait for the pastries to cool down?” you ask, taking a seat on the floor by the desk. “around half an hour,” he replies. “you know what other baked goods i’m really good at?”
you shake your head, “tell me.”
“pumpkin spice cupcake, but we don’t have any in the store now. it’s not autumn yet so finding for pumpkin is quite hard this time of the year.” he explains.
“how am i supposed to have a taste then?”
“that means you have to come here again during autumn,” he says. “i’ll bake every autumn desserts for you. beside, don’t you want to see my pretty face in a different season too?”
you grimace, “what difference does your face make in autumn?”
he laughs before reaching over to his guitar that was leaning against the wall beside the door.
so, he does play the guitar.
“do you want to hear a snippet of the song i wrote?” he asks while tuning his guitar.
“you wrote songs?”
“yeah, for fun though. i’ve never really let anyone listen to it, aside from the guys.”
“sure,” you say, holding in your excitement.
“i wrote this a few days ago, it’s not finished yet but i’ll try to give my best.” he gives you a smile before he starts strumming his guitar strings softly.
and when you thought choi beomgyu is already beautiful from the way he smiles, from the way his eyes twinkle under the summer sunshine, from the way his whisker dimples form on his cheeks when
he laughs — here he is giving you another reason to think that he is the most heavenly person you have ever came across when he opens his mouth to sing.
your fresh fragrance, your sparkling eyes
makes me feel better
reality loses its power, even the earth dies
the moment is eternal
you’re not sure is it the way the sunlight shining through the open window or the way his eyes are fixated on you while he sings, but you can feel the blood rushing to your face, leaving your cheeks feeling so warm.
no matter where you are, no matter what season
if we’re together, feel like summer
“this is getting boring.” says hueningkai as he throws the uno cards on to the floor before plopping on his back on the ground.
“agree, we should be doing something else.” taehyun, who has been scrolling on his phone since half an hour ago finally spoke.
beomgyu, with his four other friends along with a few others are sprawled out in choi yeonjun’s basement. they’ve been doing everything that they deem fun to do in the last four hours — the video games, board games, card games, truth or dare (in which beomgyu had successfully dodged every single question and dare related to you).
“let’s hit the diner, i’m kind of starving,” one of yeonjun’s friends, minho, suggest to which the other boys agree without any objections.
“nah man, i’ll pass for tonight.” beomgyu says, already standing up from his seat, “think i’m going to go home and sleep.”
“really, sleep?” minho asks, smirking up to beomgyu. “or are you going to see that girl, what’s her name again? y/n?”
beomgyu raises his eyebrow, “what does y/n got to do with this?”
sensing the shift in the air, soobin quickly nudges minho in the rib. “hey, shut your mouth.” says the older.
“i don’t know, beomgyu?” the blondie continues, “i barely see you hang out with your friends lately. every time i ask them where’s beomgyu, their answers were always the same; hanging out with y/n.” he pushes his tongue against his cheeks, clearly enjoying how extremely annoyed beomgyu looks.
“you don’t even have time for your friends anymore now? why? too busy fucking that little rich bit-…” and the next thing beomgyu knows is he is on top of the guy, throwing punches across the blondie’s
face as both soobin and yeonjun try to pull him away.
“don’t you fucking dare say that word.” he yells out loudly, throwing another blow on minho’s cheek.
minho forcefully pushes beomgyu, making the latter falls on his back as the blonde-haired boy climbs on top of him, punching him on the corner of his lips before yeonjun had to (literally) throw hands
towards minho to make him stop punching his younger friend.
there’s a loud ringing in beomgyu’s ears, his head spinning.
he was never one to resort to violence when it comes to anything. aside from that one time he accidentally kicked a girl in elementary school while trying to show off his hapkido skills, beomgyu has never hurt anyone physically. but there is something about the way your name rolls on minho’s tongue that make him sick to the core.
he gets on his feet after regaining his vision again, blood trickling down from his lips. he gives his friends one last glance before running up the stairs of the basement, slamming the door loudly as he walks out.
wiping his bloody lips with the sleeve of his hoodie, he curses under his breath, thinking he can’t go home with bruised lips and blood stains on his hoodie — his mom would make a big deal about it.
so, he continues walking — passes the front of the bakery, up the hill. feet moving according to where his heart wants him to go. to find comfort.
and it wasn’t a surprise to him as he stops in front of your aunty’s house, looking up to the second floor where your room is. the lights are out, total darkness surrounding your room. of course, it’s half
passed midnight, of course you will be sleeping by now.
beomgyu is not sure why did he came here. it’s not like he wants you to see him in this state — bruised lips, fresh blood still oozing from the cut, tousled hair, red stains on the sleeve of his yellow hoodie.
no, he doesn’t want you to see him looking this miserable. he was just trying to look for comfort, and to him, his comfort comes in the shape of a girl in an oversized blue t-shirt standing across from him.
“you scare me!” he says as he finds your figure standing in front of the gate of the house.
“what are you doing out here?” you ask.
“what are you doing out here?”
you cross your arms on your chest, “i saw you from the window.” though the only source of light shining on him comes from the dingy lamppost above him, you’re still able to make out his busted lips.
stepping over to him, you gently take his face in your hands. at that moment, beomgyu knows coming here to actually see you wasn’t a bad idea when he can feel the heat from your palms engulfing his cheeks.
he wanted solace and apparently you are his.
“what happened to you?” you ask softly, afraid that if you raise your voice any higher it might hurt him.'
“i fell…” he says, “for you.”
you take your hands off his cheek, slapping his arm to which he jokingly winces in pain. “how could you slap me when i’m already this wounded?” he pouts, “i did fell, okay? i tripped while coming up
here. the hill can be pretty steep sometimes.”
“you’ve been going up and down this hill your whole life, how can you suddenly fell today out of nowhere?”
“i don’t know? people make mistakes, y/n.”
you roll your eyes, “come on, i’ll clean it up for you.”
beomgyu didn’t hesitate to follow you into the house, up the stairs and into your bedroom. you lead him over to the bathroom, trying not to make too much noise and waking up your aunt in the room
right across from yours— you don’t think she would appreciate you bringing a boy into the house in the middle of the night, and the last thing you want is her thinking there’s something passionate going
around between you and the baker’s son.
taking his face in one hand gently, you blow onto his cut. “it’s going to sting a little, okay?” he hums, enjoying the cool breeze from you on his open wound.
he watches you tentatively as you dab the antiseptic on his skin. “does it hurt?” you ask to which he just shakes his head no. “okay. phew, this is kinda scary.” you giggle as you lean closer to his face again, your nose a few inches away from his.
beomgyu roams his eyes all over your face — your eyes, your nose, and your lips. he observes the way your long eyelashes flutters against your soft cheeks with every blink you make. the way your pupils dilate as you are so focused on attending his busted lips. the way your nose scrunches up occasionally when he lets out a low groan of pain. the way your lips are pull into a pout while you’re busy nagging to him.
even under the ugly fluorescent light of the bathroom, with you wearing the most basic clothes — no fancy summer dresses, or blouses, or expensive sneakers – with your hair messily being put up into a bun, face free from any kind of make-up, to choi beomgyu; you are the most beautiful.
and in the daze of post-punched and being in your presence, he lets the words slip out of his mouth.
“you are so fucking beautiful, y/n.”
the saying of time flies when you’re having fun is actually true. days have turned into weeks, and weeks have turned into months — it’s already been two months since you first arrived in this small
town with the ocean view.
the past months have been filled with many new things you’ve never experienced in your life — going hiking to see the sunrise with beomgyu, harvesting vegetables and herbs with aunty sue, helping
beomgyu’s mom in the bakery, binge eating snacks at the convenience store past midnight with beomgyu and his friends, barbecue party with the townspeople.
and the most precious thing you’ve encountered during this summer break is friendship — not only with beomgyu, but his friends too. you’ve come to get comfortable with yeonjun, soobin, taehyun and
hueningkai along the way after spending time with them. beomgyu had brought you along to hang out with them a few times, and you had grown to enjoy the boys’ company, too.
and beomgyu has stay true to his words about making this summer the best three months break of your life.
“you look pretty already,” aunty sue says behind you as you’re busy fixing the strands of your hair framing your face.
turning to look at her, you pout. “i’m not.”
“beomgyu thinks you are.”
you blush, looking into the mirror to avoid your aunt’s teasing eyes. “i’m done, let’s go.”
“you’re not going with beomgyu?” she asks as the both of you are walking down the hill, a rattan basket in your hand.
“he said he’ll meet me there,” you explain. “he has to help his mom with the bakery booth.”
“ah, right. i forgot about that.”
another new thing you get to experience in this small town is their annual summer festival. aunty sue had told you that the town’s mayor came up with the idea of making the festival around a decade ago
in an attempt to give some sort of entertainment for the kids and teenagers, and also the adults, in the town during the season. it was a great success the first year it was being held — with more than
thirty booths of various foods and games. hence, why the summer festival has become the town’s annual event now.
as you reach the festival’s venue which is being held by the beach, you see soobin and yeonjun chattering at a booth near the entrance. you hand aunty sue the basket before excusing yourself to talk to the boys.
“yeonjun! soobin!” you call out, running up towards them. “oooh, y/n! you look so cute!” soobin exclaims excitedly as you stop in front of him. “but not as cute as choi odi, though.”
“choi odi?” you question and the boy nods “my pet.”
“a cat?”
“no, a hedgehog.”
you grimace — what’s with this group of friends and their weird animals as pet?
“what? you don’t think hedgehogs are cute?” he asks.
no, they look like rat — is what you wanted to say but you don’t have the heart to voice those words out from the look soobin is giving you. “yeah, they are… not bad.” you say before moving your gaze
away from him.
yeonjun notices the way your eyes are scanning around for the familiar mob of brown hair in the sea of visitors, and he chuckles. “his booth is on the other side,” he says. “want us to show you the way?”
your cheeks flushed from being caught but you thank him, anyways. “it’s okay, i’ll go by myself. i’ll see you guys later, then!” you say, walking away from them while waving.
you were about to walk around, trying to find his mom’s bakery booth when you hear your phone’s notification inside your bag. pulling it out, you smile as you read the name of the sender.
beomgyu: where u at, pretty girl? i saw your aunt but not you.
you quickly type in your reply.
you: i’m at a cotton candy stall near the entrance, omw to find u
beomgyu: stay there. i’ll go to u.
after waiting for a while, you spot him walking over to you — dressed in a white button up shirt, tucked inside his black jeans. hair slightly dishevelled from the ocean breeze. he has a smile across his face as
he keeps coming closer to where you’re waiting for him.
even in the sea of people, choi beomgyu is the only one that caught your eyes. you could be in a big ballroom of a masquerade party and the only one that has your attention is still choi beomgyu — there’s
just something about him that you can’t seem to explain that make you only look at him and him only.
you look up to him when he stops in front of you, the smile from earlier getting wider. “hi, pretty.” he says before his hand reaches up to your face, tugging the strands of hair behind your ear neatly. this
has been a little habit of his that he really loves doing whenever he sees your hair getting on your face — never once have you told him that you purposely let those strands untied.
“the firework show will be at 8pm, so we will have around,” he checks his phone, “hour and half to walk around. what do you want to do?”
“you’re not helping your mom’s booth?”
“my brother is here, so he’ll be helping mom for today.” he says, peeking to the stall behind you. “wanna try the cotton candy?”
there is already a line of children waiting for their turns to get the sweet treats in various shapes —heart, bunny, flower, and even a unicorn. when it reaches your turn, beomgyu asks you what shape
you would like for your candy, and you eagerly point at the bear on the menu sheet.
“here’s your order, mr. lover boy.” the man says, handing the stick of the bear-shaped cotton candy to beomgyu. “enjoy your time here, lovebirds.”
“we’re not-…”
“thank you, we will.” taking the candy from the man, beomgyu put his hand on the small of your back, leading you away from the line.
you look up at him, blush evident on your cheeks. why didn’t he deny the man earlier? lovebirds? love, really? “beomgyu, why didn’t you-..” you pause mid-sentence when he hands you the cotton candy.
looking up at him, then down to the cotton candy that is still in his hand, then up to him again and down to the candy again, you let out a laugh.
he furrows his eyebrow questioningly, “what so funny?”
taking out your phone, you open the camera app. “stand still.”
he complies, standing still with the cotton candy in hand all the while you’re giggling and snapping multiple pictures of him. “are you done?” he whines.
you show him the photo on your phone screen, swiping right to let him see the rest of his pictures you’ve taken. “the bear looks just like you!”
“is it funny to you?” he asks, wrapping his arm around your waist as he tickles your side. you squirm in his hold, laughing harder. “it is, because it looks exactly like you- ah! beomgyu, stop tickling me!”
he holds onto the stick of the cotton candy tighter as his other arm is still wrapped around your waist. beomgyu has always known of how beautiful you look when you smile and laugh, but, oh god. right
now, where you’re laughing to your heart’s content, in his arm, dressed in the loveliest white summer dress he has ever seen, with the warm glow of the sun slowly setting, he swears nothing else is as
beautiful as you. not even close.
“beomgyu, please stop. i’m going to pee.” you beg, tears from laughing pooling in your eyes. he lets you go slowly before handing the cotton candy to you which you gladly take.
“let’s go,” he says as he takes your free hand in his, pulling you into the gleeful summer festival.
you spent a good hour touring around the festival — eating tanghulu and few other famous street foods. playing random games at the game booths even though you knew they were all rigged, it was
still fun — beomgyu did won you a small teddy bear keychain from the dart game.
you visited your aunt’s stall too, where she’s selling little handcrafted trinkets. you couldn’t ignore the cheeky smile she sent you when she saw the way beomgyu was holding onto your hand.
then, you went to his mom’s booth where you met his brother for the first time. you were kind of expecting the teasing from him, but you didn’t know it would be so bad to the point you had to ask beomgyu for a glass of water, afraid you might suddenly pass out from the excessive blood rush.
it was fun. you don’t think you have experienced this much fun in your life. the last time you felt happy was when you had visited disneyland back when you were ten. with your maid, not with your parents. you don’t think you would have enjoyed it as much if you did go with them.
“we have 10 more minutes before the fireworks show.” beomgyu says as he leans his side against the railing. he had suggested to go up the cliff to have a better view of the firework. you thought it’s going
to be a packed spot but surprisingly there are only three other people there, sitting distance away from where you and beomgyu are standing.
you can feel his stare from the corner of your eyes, making your cheeks flushed. god, is it possible to lose one’s life from immense blushing? if it is, then you’re in a terrible danger.
“have you ever been in love?” he asks suddenly.
at that moment, the only thing you can hear is the loud ringing in your ears. gone the sound of the festive happening down by the beach, the sound of the waves crashing against the shore, the sound
of the people behind you chattering. the sound of beomgyu’s voice.
have you ever been in love?
have you? you want to say no. you want to tell him that you don’t believe in love — that you would rather believe in the existence of a flying elephant rather than believing in love. you want to tell him
there is no such a thing as love in this world. there is no such a thing as sincere love. people love to get what they desire in return — money, power, status, pride. your parents are a living prove of that.
you want to tell him if there is one thing you are so fucking afraid of in this world, it is to love.
you want to tell him that you don’t think love is worth taking the risk, you don’t think it’s worth fighting for. love is not a real thing. you’ve seen so many people from school getting heartbroken over a
breakup with their lover, only to jump into a new relationship a week after that. if love is a real existing thing then, how could you move on so easily like that?
you so badly want to tell him, but no words come out from your mouth as you stare into his sparkling eyes.
“you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to,” he says after sensing the discomfort on your face.
“have you?”
“yeah,” he says, now facing the sea. “i’m in love with a lot of things — my family, my friends, toto, my bicycle.” he says, shifting on his feet, “i love helping my mom in the bakery, i love writing songs even
when no one listens to it. i love this town, no matter how boring it gets sometimes, i still love it.”
“i love summer,” he says as he turns to face you again. “i love summer because it brought you to me.”
you were about to say something to him when you hear the announcement from the speakers that the fireworks will be going off in the count of three.
ignoring the proclamation, you keep your eyes fixated on his. he is staring at you endearingly, a soft smile on his lips as he takes a step closer towards you.
three
he takes another step forward, until the tips of his shoes are meeting yours.
two
he tugs the strands of your hair behind your ear like he usually does, only this time he didn’t put his hand down, keeping it on the soft skin of your cheek. he rests his other hand on your waist, pulling you slightly closer to him.
one
he tilts his head, leaning down towards your face before stopping, leaving a small gap as he waits for you to make the next move, an unspoken sign of asking for your permission.
and as the fireworks start shooting in the sky, you stand on your tiptoes. hands resting against his chest as you lean forward, closing the gap in between your lips and his soft ones.
it started off with you gently resting your lips on his, until he starts to pull you closer by your waist — where he deepens the kiss.
it feels magical.
the way his lips are massaging softly against your own, the way his thumb is caressing your cheek in the gentlest manner, the way he tightens his hold on your waist — not hard enough to hurt you but
strong enough to keep you in place, the way his heart is beating so fast under your palm. the way the sky is glowing and shimmering brightly with the non-stop fireworks.
he is magical.
it’s not like you have ever kissed a boy before but the way beomgyu is kissing you with so much care, with so much affection, so endearingly, with so much love — you know the kiss is perfect. you just know it is.
because you don’t need a flawless kiss for it to feel complete, all you need is choi beomgyu to be the one kissing you.
to you, choi beomgyu is the epitome of perfection.
the ringing of your phone wakes you up from your deep sleep. reaching over to the vibrating device on the nightstand, you pick up the call without checking the caller id.
“hello?” you say, voice hoarse.
“y/n?” shoot, it’s your mom. “are you still sleeping?”
“uh, yeah. i just… woke up.” you sit up on your bed, eyeing the clock on the wall – 12:04pm. if there is one thing your mom hates, it would be tardiness — in anything, including the time you wake up from
sleep.
“i slept really late last night,” in which you did. after the summer festival, and the whole kissing thing, beomgyu had walked you home. not forgetting to give you another kiss, which felt more like a peck,
before he left. and you had stayed up until almost four in the morning replaying that particular scene on the cliff over and over again in your head.
you hear your mom sighs from the other end, “how you been doing there?”
oh, that’s new.
“it’s been okay,” you twirl the end of your blanket. “aunty sue is a very war-…”
“listen, y/n. i’m kind of busy right now. i just called to remind you about your leave after the summer break.”
and that is when reality hits you.
“your dad thought it would be a good idea if you come home this weekend. to make early preparations.”
shit. how could you forget?
“i’ll send a driver to pick you up this sunday,” she says, and you can hear rustling from her end, “i gotta go.”
when the line goes off, you remain holding your phone against your ear.
how can you get forget? did you forget because you’re too busy having fun here? did you forget because you finally found something, or rather, someone to share your happiness with? did you forget
that you’re only here temporarily, to take a breather from the crowded city? did you forget that you’re not supposed to be attached to anyone?
you’re leaving. you’re leaving the country in september. you’re leaving for a university on the other side of the world. you’re leaving your home. you’re leaving this town.
you’re leaving beomgyu.
beomgyu.
these past months, you have been engulfing yourself too much into whatever temporary fantasy he had created for you. you were so into it that you started to brush away all of your beliefs that have
been your pillar your whole life. you were so blinded by the happiness he had brought you that you started making an exception for him.
and for the first time in two months, for the first time since you have arrived in this small town with an ocean view, for the first time since you met the boy whose eyes shine brighter than any stars in the night sky — you want to be anywhere but here.
you know you’re being a jerk to beomgyu — ignoring his calls and text messages, lying to him about coming down with a fever, forcing aunty sue to make up whatever excuses she could think of
whenever the boy stopped by to catch a glimpse of you, pretending to be sleeping whenever you saw him standing under the lamppost outside of the house at night.
you’re being irrelevant and you know that better than anyone else. but you can’t find any other way to explain to him about everything — you’re not ready and you don’t know how to. you know he’s in
love with you, and maybe, just maybe, you do harbour the same feeling for him as well — but you're in denial.
love does not exist.
that’s what you’ve been telling yourself every day.
you’re going back home tomorrow, and you have successfully avoided beomgyu up until this point. until aunty sue had to (almost) beg on her knees asking you to deliver an official government letter to
the choi’s place. she had come down with a summer fever herself, making you feel bad if you refuse to help.
and that’s how you find yourself inside the the bakery’s kitchen that saturday afternoon, a brown envelope in hand. you are glad it is saturday — meaning beomgyu is not around as he always spends
the day at taehyun’s place.
you peek around the kitchen, no one in sight. there’s no one behind the register in the bakery too. is the shop closed?
you hear footsteps coming down the stairs, turning around with the envelope still in hand, “mrs. choi, aunty sue asked me to-…”
you blink, hands coming down to your sides.
leaving the brown paper on top of the counter, you were about to make an escape before you feel his hand wraps around your wrist, tugging you back to him.
“y/n,”
“let me go,” you say under your breath.
he pushes you against the wall, trapping your body. “are you okay?”
out of all the things he could be saying to you right now, he’s asking you if you’re okay? out of all the mean things he could be spitting to you right now for ignoring him without explanation, the words
that came out from his mouth are those of endearment.
you avoid his eyes, afraid that you might break if you catch a glimpse of his sparkling eyes. “i’m fine.”
“then why have you been ignoring me?”
“i wasn’t feeling well.”
“then, that means you’re not okay.” he says softly, “look at me, y/n.”
you look up at him, tears pooling your eyes. “why are you being so difficult?!” you didn’t mean to scream in his face, but at this point, your brain has lose control — your body moving according to your
heart.
beomgyu is taken aback by your sudden outburst, “what?”
“why are you making it a big deal that i’m not talking or hanging out with you anymore?”
“how am i supposed to not make it a big deal when the person i’m in love with is pushing me away?” there, he said it.
“love?” you say, while trying your hardest to keep your tears from falling. “there is no such a thing as love in this world, beomgyu.”
“are you saying my feelings for you are invalid? of course, there is. there’s love everywhere in this world.”
“no, there’s none!” you scream again, “how can you fall in love with someone within, what? two months? that’s unrealistic, beomgyu.”
“you don’t need years to fall in love with someone, y/n. you can be by someone’s side for decades, shares one roof, sits at the same dinner table and sleeps on the same bed for years and years onwards
but if there is no love then there will be no love until the end.” he raises his voice slightly.
you finally let your tears fall as images of your parents cross your mind — of how unhappy they are with each other, of how their eyes never hold any kind of affection for one another. they have been
married for almost two decades now — live under the same roof, eat at the same dinner table, sleep on the same bed, wear the same silver bands around their ring fingers – but the love was never there. it’s never going to be there.
if there is no love then there will be no love until the end.
they are the reason why you’re acting the way you are now.
"i don’t need years to fall in love with you, y/n.” he wipes the tears on your cheek gently, “the moment i saw you that one summer afternoon, i knew i was falling head over heels for you.” he pauses,
searching for your eyes. “i knew that i’m in love with you.”
“tell me, y/n… did i do anything wrong? is it the kiss?” he asks, “i’m sorry i stepped over my boundaries.”
“it’s not the kiss,” you whisper.
“then? what’s bothering you, baby?”
more tears come out of your eyes at the nickname, “this whole thing,” you gesture to him and you, “you know it’s not going to last, right?”
he shakes his head, “no, i know you’re going to back to the city after the break, but we’ll make it work. it’s not even that far. you know people do anything for their loved ones, right?”
you take a deep breath, before wailing loudly, not caring about anything anymore. “you’re not gonna love me anymore after i leave, beomgyu. and i’m not talking about going back to the city. i’m leaving the country soon, to the other side of the world, for four fucking years, choi beomgyu!”
“i’ll wait for you, i promise.”
“no one is that stupid enough to wait for someone for that long. why take the risk of waiting years for someone? what if i suddenly came back with a boyfriend, or a fiancé?”
“you worth all the risk in the world, y/n.”
“why are you making things difficult for me?” you push him off of you before you make a run for the door. you continue running up the hill, tears still spilling out your eyes.
you stop, looking back to where you came running from. he doesn’t come chasing after you.
and a part of you wish that he did.
“is this the last one?” your driver asks as he loads the last of your luggage into the car’s boot.
you nod, thanking him to which he replies with a nod of his head. turning to face your aunt, you take her hand in yours. “thank you for taking care of me in the past two months.”
she smiles, rubbing on the back of your hand with her thumb. “are you sure you don’t want to see him first?”
you shake your head and the woman just nods hers before pulling you into a hug. it’s warm. she has always been warm, ever since the first time she picked you up at the train station. she has treated you
like nothing less than a family member, though you and her are very distant relatives.
“i’ll miss you.”
“i’ll miss you too, honey.” she caresses your hair. “come back soon, hm?”
you nod, moving away from her warm hold. “bye, aunty sue.”
as the car drives past the familiar bakery, you look down to your lap, droplets of tears wetting the thin fabric of your skirt.
and just like that, your temporary happiness ends.
the leaves start to wilt, slowly turning brown as the season transition from summer to autumn. the temperature getting colder and colder as each day passed by. no more scorching sun, no more clear
blue sky, no more children running around by the beach.
he stands on the cliff, overlooking the ocean. nothing much has changed since three years ago — except some parts of the railing has awfully broken down. honestly, he prefers it that way — the town not
changing. the way the town looks boring to an outsider, but actually holds a lot of hidden wonders.
the town holds a lot of dear memories to him. this is the town he has grown up in, the town that taught him all the life lessons that made him the person he is today, the town that brought him a girl
that he could never forget, even in his next life.
he looks over to the sea. if he swims far enough, would he reach the other side of the world? to where you are right now?
three years.
it has been three years since he last heard anything from you. it’s not like he didn’t try reaching out to you, he did, multiple times. he tried calling your phone, only to be greeted with the same bot telling
him that the number is no longer in service. he tried looking up for your social media — facebook, instagram, anything. but nothing ever came up with your name aside from a profile website of your
family, a picture of fifteen years old you under the words ‘daughter of a successful businessman and the uprising fashion designer’. he thought you look adorable in the picture, despite the lack of life in
your eyes.
three years went by and you still haven’t come back.
three years and all he could think about every day is you.
you, you, you.
his friends have been telling him to just let it go, telling him it was just a summer fling, telling him it’s time for him to move on, to go meet new people in college.
but he didn’t. he knows what is worth it in his life — you are worth the wait, the risk, everything.
he tugs his hands inside the pocket of his coat, the air is getting so chilly despite it being only september.
“thought i would find you here,”
he turns his head so fast as he hears the familiar voice, he thought he might get a whiplash from it. but as he stares at the figure standing across from him, he thinks he is experiencing more than a whiplash right now.
there you are, standing five feet apart from him. he roams his eyes over your smiling face, and he wonders how is it possible for someone to be this beautiful. you look different from the last time he
saw you, in a good way.
your hair is slightly shorter compared to three years ago, you have lost the baby fats on your cheeks too, making your cheekbones stand out when you smile, and your eyes, they no longer look like the one he saw on the last day he saw you, or in the picture from the internet. your eyes are filled with life now, sparkling under the grey sky of the autumn morning.
“i went to your mom’s bakery but you weren’t around. figured you would be-…” you didn’t get to finish your sentence as the man takes a long stride towards you before pulling you into his arms.
he holds the back of your head with one hand, pressing your nose against the base of his neck while his other hand is wrapped around your waist.
he still smells the same — a mixture of frangipani blossoms, toasted coconut, and bergamot waters.
even in a different season, he still smells like summer.
you wrap your arms around him, “sorry i took too long.”
shaking his head, he wraps his arm tighter around you figure — afraid that you might suddenly evaporate into thin air, and this is just another night dream of his. “no, thank you for coming back.”
“thank you, too. for waiting for me.”
he pulls you away from his neck, staring deep into your eyes. “i promised i would wait for you, didn’t i?”
you nod, smiling up at him happily. you notice how he had grown few inches since the last time you saw him that one afternoon in the back of his mom’s bakery, from the way your neck is straining so
much looking up at him. his hair is no longer the deep shade of brown anymore, it's ash grey now.
he leans down, tilting his head as he nudges your nose with his — waiting for you to close the distance between his lips and yours, just like what he did that one summer night, in this exact same spot.
and as you finally rest your lips upon his — you think about how choi beomgyu is worth all the risk that you’ve took. the arguments with your parents because they kept opposing the idea of you dating a
nameless boy from a small town, the cramped semesters because you wanted to cut one semester off so you can come back to him a year sooner, the longing and aching feeling for him you got whenever
your friends in university talk about their partners. at the end, there were all worth it.
choi beomgyu is worth it.
you are still a firm believer of love does not exist. it’s hard to get rid of that idea when you’ve been sticking to it almost all of your life. and given that your parents’ eyes still lack of love and affection for
each other even after being married for a whole two decades now, it’s impossible to accept that there is love out there for everyone.
but to you; love exists in a form of a boy whose eyes shine brighter than any stars in the night sky, and that is all that matters to you.
and to choi beomgyu; even under the cloudy and gloomy autumn morning sky, with wilted leaves dancing around in the air with the wind, with the temperature getting colder and colder as day passed
by, it feels like summer to him — because it doesn’t matter where he is, or what season it is, whenever he’s with you, it feels like summer.

Who did this to you? - 8
Pairing: Thomas Shelby x female/Reader
Summary: Bruised and broken, Y/N, trapped in a loveless marriage, arrives at her best friend's house, desperately hoping someone will help her, aware she cannot return to the estate of her husband.
Warning: fear, anxiety, Angst, swearing
Word Count: 2.3k
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part6 Part 7 Part 9
The clouds wandered on, a lonely wanderer travelling across oceans and meadows, hills and rugged mountains painted in snow. White greyed, darkened and blackened, turned into pure doom, darker than black. The wind howled, screamed and screeched and the branches, crooked fingers, waltzed in all directions.
Silence blanketed the car driving down the path bordered by fields and trees, but it was not unpleasant, cruel, forcing nonsense to fall to shatter it. Shocked, Y/N noticed with widened eyes they had arrived at the open gates of the estate she called her home. At a rapid pace, the car drove on and on, past other parked cars and parked between them in different shades of the deep ocean. The motor wasn't roaring, turned off and the chanting of the birds sitting in one line on the lowest branch invaded the car smelling of alcohol, petrol and leather. The wind knocked on the automobile. Polly gulped, turned and rested her hand graced by a golden ring cautiously, almost shyly, on Y/N´s lap, but the shivering and shaking woman painted in blue and red, lightened by streaks of purple, did not flinch nor speak her mind. Carefully Polly´s fingers slid across Y/N´s calf and pulled the thick fabric higher to hide the exposed skin. Polly pronounced her name and pulled Y/N out of the dark and dreary thoughts, summoning goosebumps all over her flesh.
"Thomas is fine. He knows what he's doing. Nothing will happen to him." Polly assured calmly, guessing the reason for the fear in the widened eyes and sweaty palms.
Faintly Y/N smiled.
"I know, but I'm worried about him. About Poppy. There was blood, too much blood. I thought it was the new wallpaper she had told me about. They, she and her mother, redecorated the house. The pattern, it looked like flowers, large and smaller dots." she replied.
Exhaling, Y/N closed her eyes veiled by tears once fixed on the distance, watching the sun, the rays breaking through the travelling clouds heralding a day full of terror.
"I'm sure your friend is fine, too. Thomas will take care of her." the woman continued with a gentle, encouraging smile on her features, kissed by the orange rays.
Polly cleared her throat. The smile fainted, and the wrinkles deepened. She didn't need to search for the right words, had already pictured during the ride what she would say to Y/N if their paths should cross, but all Polly wanted to say had dissolved, had lost its meaning.
"We're home Y/N/N. Ada is waiting, but before we go inside, I want you to know that we are sorry. We have not been good to you, to put it nicely. Please forgive us and I speak on behalf of the whole family. John was the one who opened the door for your friend. After we realised what had happened, we were looking for you. I hope you will give us a second chance even if we don't deserve one. We will understand if you want to leave. We won't hate you for your decision." Polly continued and squeezed Y/N´s hand.
Y/N turned, ignoring the nearly unignorable pain trying to elicit a hiss from her, and turned to face Polly. She wanted to start a sentence; lips parted, but no tone escaped the sore throat. Y/N stared past Polly towards the door, flying back and forth in the fresh morning breeze. Ada ran towards the car as if chased by a ghost, had left the door wide open, ran on tiptoes and hissed and cursed like a witch as the stones dug deep into the soles of her reddening feet. The hem of the dress danced in the breeze. Gasping for air, Ada spread the large checked blanket, usually resting on the floor next to the sofa. The wind painted her cheeks vibrant red, lighter than her evening gown.
"Come, Y/N/N, we will protect you." Polly assured in a calm, slightly quivering voice, but Y/N heard no falseness, no lie in it.
Y/N could not utter a reply. The air, hinting of winter, invaded the car. The women shivered and balled the hands into fists. Ada hushed a greeting, spread the blanket, glanced at the wounds gracing Y/N´s body, down on the battered feet and the shivering limbs. The pain in her chest deepened at the sight of the shadow of a woman, read in her eyes what she had been through. The lip was chapped. The traces of a fight were evident on her cheek and throat. Ada tossed the blanket over her shoulder, noticing Y/N was covered in one. Wordlessly Ada helped Y/N out of the car. Soft curses blurred with whimpers. Whispering soothing words, Ada pulled Y/N away, closer to the house, kicking the door of the automobile shut and gesturing for Polly to pursue.
"I've prepared a bath for you. I'll help you upstairs. If you don't want to bathe, I can put a bucket of water next to the sofa. You can at least warm your feet." Ada said.
With every step, every slight movement Y/N made, the once brilliant white material slipped and revealed more wounds, swellings, and darkening spots not fading in the golden tide of the sun's rays, but grew even darker. Blue turned to green, lit by purple flashes and red veins carrying blue blood. Patiently Ada waited, and stared back at Polly, walking hastily after the women.
"Thank you. I think the bucket will do. Maybe I'll get in the tub later." Y/N replied meekly, as if speaking to her mother, fearing the answer would enrage her, but none of what she expected happened.
The chilly breeze blew through Y/N´s hair one last time. The door slammed shut, and the keys jingled, chanted a song that faded quickly. All doors were closed and locked. Curtains touched. The first aid box, not battered, holey neither with a worn handle nor dented corners, rested open on the table. Scissors, and spotless bandages lay next to bottles of high-proof alcohol, freshly washed not dried glasses, cigarettes and silver needles drowning in alcohol. Blankets covered the sofa, to which Ada led Y/N and a down pillow. The white porcelain bowl graced by blue vines and flowers was in the middle of the crowded table. Smoke rose from the cup, sweet lavender, and banished the unmistakable stench of blood and gore.
"May I offer you some soup?" the question was unnecessary, asked out of politeness.
Y/N turned into a tree, rooted deep into the ground, not moving. Her arms swayed forward. Questioningly, the two Shelby's exchanged glances, searching for the reason for the fear in Y/N´s eyes, unable to find it, but then, after a moment that seemed not to pass, Ada took a step forward, let go of Y/N, took the polished pistol and hid it under the table, still handy but out of Y/N´s sight. Polly placed her hands down on Y/N's shoulders, trying not to cause her any more pain, let the blanket slide to the floor and carefully pressed the young woman down on the sofa. Ada wriggled back towards them, took the blanket still hanging over her shoulder and laid it down on Y/N's legs, covering them, reached for the pair of fluffy socks, wiped away the dirt, small stones, dust and dried mud, and put the socks on Y/N´s feet.
"It's okay." Ada breathed before Y/N could protest.
Smiling, Ada looked up, wiped her hands on her long dress, picked up the bowl filled with soup and placed it carefully in Y/N's lap, handing her the silver spoon.
"Here, Y/N/N, eat. I'll fill you a bucket with warm water in the meantime. Polly will keep you company. If you need anything, if you feel sick, all you have to do is tell us and we will help you. You are still in shock." Ada said in a calm voice.
Gulping, Ada crouched next to Y/N.
"We should have taken you into our family. I am sorry, we are all very sorry. It's understandable that you don't want to see us, you have enough reasons to hate us. The only thing I can do is to promise that we will do better. If you need time, I have a friend. She owns a small cottage a few miles away from town. There is a pond and a small forest. It's lovely. I could arrange that you could spend a few days or weeks there." Ada continued.
Y/N merely nodded, unsure of what to say, not knowing how to respond, and kept on smiling. The two women watched Ada as she rose from the ground like a phoenix from the ashes and strode away. Polly leaned closer to Y/N, tidied the blanket and hinted that she should eat, that it would do her good. A soft thanks escaped Y/N, smiled at the women who wordlessly indicated that she should finally start eating and so Y/N did, dipping the silver cutlery into the depths of the bowl whose end she could not see, watching the thinly chopped vegetables slip from the spoon and as the warm liquid flowed down her throat, Y/N realised how hungry she was and ate greedily.
Time had lost its meaning. Y/N had emptied the contents of the bowl. The last piece of sliced carrots had disappeared, yet she did not place it on the table, continued to warm her fingers on the ceramic bowl.
Heels clicked against the dark wood, had put shoes a hue darker than the evening dress. Cautiously, Ada continued walking with her eyes fixed on the troubled waters, fearing the warm liquid was about to spill over the golden rim. A towel, white with a few washed-out stains, hung over her right shoulder, the towel she always used when a brother standing on the edge of the world was carried inside the house. The floorboards groaned, and Ada stopped and noticed Y/N had finished the soup she had cooked for her.
Out of the corner of her eye Polly noticed how Y/N´s eyes were growing heavy and she leaned forward, took the bowl and placed it on the table. The young woman wanted to protest as Polly told her to rest, to say that she had to stay awake, that she wanted to wait for the return of the brothers and her husband.
"No, Y/N, lay down. You can stay with us or you can go to the bedroom. We will keep watch and if you need anything, you can call us.", "Polly, we should take care of Y/N's wounds first." Ada interjected.
"That won't be necessary. That can wait. Alfie has taken care of her wounds it's just dirt and scratches. The wounds are not life threatening. Y/N rest, close your eyes. I promise I will wake you up if Thomas is home." she replied.
Carefully Polly pushed Y/N backwards. Her heavy, throbbing head sunk into the pillow. Closing her eyes, Y/N sighed in relief, exhaled as the blanket fell down on her body. Birds chirped, the howling ceased and lulled her to sleep.
Polly leaned forward happily and noticed Y/N had fallen asleep.
"Thomas told me that Alfie has taken care of Y/N. No deep wounds or else I would have taken her to the hospital. We can take care of it later." Polly reported.
Ada rose, set the bowl aside on the table, sighed deeply, nodded, listened to the woman and turned to the fireplace, the blazing flames feasting on the wood and fed by the howling air hinting of winter.
"She was beaten up. I didn't see any bullet wounds. Did Thomas tell you what happened or who is to blame?", "He has a guess, but he couldn't tell me anything specific. It all happened too fast. The gang has Y/N's girlfriend in their grip. At least that's what he thinks. The house was trashed, destroyed, and I think I saw bloodstains on the floor." she breathed softly.
Her eyes kept sliding to the slumbering figure, kept glancing at her right side and noticing with relief that Y/N was still asleep, her eyelids neither twitching nor her lips twisting into a pained grimace.
"Alfie's going to show up any minute. Thomas called him. He fears someone might pay us a visit." Polly whispered in Ada's direction.
Ada perked up, grinned, felt the weight of her weapon at her side, settled down in front of the blazing flames, gnawing on wood and fed by air on the armchair, threw the pillow to the floor on her side and crossed her arms in front of her body.
“We don’t need someone to protect us.” Ada stopped.
A soft knock silenced Ada. The women exchanged glances. The rustling, and shuffling of shoes and feet, softly uttered words, the closing of the door and the jingling of keys followed by low grumbles couldn’t awake Y/N from her deep slumber, lying on the sofa, a princess in the shadow of the vigilant dragons.

STRAY KIDS DIED,WHEN PROTECTING YOU
I saw this on the Internet and it drove me hysterical. I wanted something super sad, so I'm writing this (💊))
I'm an empath and while I was writing this...oh, I was crying like the last bitch. Parts will be released by two members!
pt2;;pt3;;pt4
BANG CHAN
He covered your body from the bullet wound.
He died in the hospital on the operating table at 23:00...a beautiful time isn't it?
This happened when you and Chan were planning to go for a walk to the mountain parks, you had been wanting to go there for so long!
A murder was about to happen to you, because when the agency confirmed your relationship with Chan, a huge amount of hate was poured out on you.
That day you were in a beautiful white dress, Chan was also very handsome, your dear Chan.
Suddenly you heard a noise near the front door and Chris went to check, the next thing you heard was a scream: “Y/N, HIDE.”shoot.
You ran after him, saw only Chan’s body, you put his head on your lap and immediately called an ambulance, you could only whisper: “Don’t close your eyes, hold on, my love,” your hand was on his wound, he looked at so tenderly you.
You held his hand always, you refused to let him go, and his fingers weakly squeezed your hand.
Chan was taken to the hospital, and you immediately called the boys, your words were incomprehensible, and your tears were choking you.
You are all gathered in the hospital, the operation is already three hours, your heart is breaking, and the red spots on your white dress are drying up.
words: "Sorry, we couldn't save him"
The members were the first to enter his room... Felix and Jongin were the first to leave in tears... followed by Hyunjin hugging Jisung, then Changbin and Minho... Seungmin came out last.
When he died, you screamed heartbreakingly, there was scarlet blood on your white dress, the last symbol of love.
Have you lost track of time, how much did you spend near his cold body in the hospital? How long did you hold his cold hands and lean your forehead against his forehead?
You refused to let go of his body, please don't take Chris away.
You kiss his cold lips one last time.
The boys were heartbroken and you were killed, your soul died along with Chan.
You don’t remember the funeral, you don’t remember how long you sat at the grave, you don’t remember anything. Everything in your apartment smells of him, everything reminded you of him...
You always wear his big black hoodie and his hat, you wear all his things. Leaving the smell of Chan on you
Your eyes are always red.
You have Chan as wallpaper everywhere on your phone, you don't want him to slip from your memory.
The boys went to rest for an indefinite period of time, and you flew to Australia to visit Chan’s family, having previously visited the dorm and collected his things. You cried non-stop, your grief was unbearable.
You will remain living in Sydney with Chan's family, but will occasionally fly to Seoul to visit the boys...their fates are on the eve, their leader is dead, your sweet Channie is buried two meters underground.
Such a life will not last long, you will never be able to accept the bitterness of loss.
You will die exactly five months after Chan, the last syndrome of your love. I'll be back soon.
LEE MINHO
He died immediately, no one could help him.
You walked down a dark alley with Minho, he held your hand tightly so that you wouldn’t be afraid, you’re not afraid, are you?
In the distance, some men were beating a girl, Minho saw this and was consumed by anger.
The girl was saved, she ran away and he protected you from these men, but...
He was stabbed in the neck.
You were covered in blood, you were hugging his already inanimate body.
Minho looked at the sky with glassy eyes, he is now one of the stars in the sky.
A police investigation began, then the company released a statement... then a funeral, crying members, Minho's broken parents... how vague everything.
You immediately took Soonie, Doongie and Dori from Minho’s apartment.
You tried so hard to support everyone, but you yourself were killed from within.
You saw him in all your dreams, you fell asleep with the thought that in your dreams he would be nearby.
It's become an addiction.
You moved into the dorms and lived there so often, helping the members. Everything was easier with you.
With Minho's death, you promised yourself that no one else would ever take your heart. You are forever faithful to Minho.
You will definitely ensure that those who killed Minho are punished.
You will definitely achieve justice.
You've been sitting on his grave for so long... leaning against the tombstone with the name "LEE MINHO 25.10.1998-03.04.202*" such a beautiful name, such tender feelings.
You will help the boys return to the industry, you continued Minho's work.
You will continue his life in your heart.

Everywhere, Everything: Chapter Six
Chapter Summary: Elain is cornered into making a decision on the future of their relationship when Graysen asks her a question.
Word Count: 4.4k
Missed the first five chapters? You can find the Masterlist for this fic here 🥰
A/N: Happy W(no longer)IP Wednesday!!
As always, thank you for all your lovely comments and messages about this fic and others... and also just in general. I'm always so blown away by how lovely this community can be and I appreciate all the support and your patience so much. It's been a busy couple months and I am so excited to finally be posting this chapter. It contains the very first paragraph that I ever wrote for this fic all the way back in October last year so it feels very surreal that it's finally going up!
I do want to give a tiny warning for a potential trigger in regards to Graysen's behaviour. It's just a tiny part but it may prove difficult for some readers so please be aware of that before you read. I hope you like this chapter, please let me know what you think and what you think may happen next!
ENJOY XX
Read on AO3
Elain’s ears were filled with the sounds of chatter, the clinking of champagne coupes, and the romantic crescendo of whatever modern song the violinist in the corner of the room had recomposed to better suit the energy of the function tonight. She fidgeted with the neckline of her dress in an attempt to cool herself down. The room was packed with people and despite the otherwise cool night, she could feel the first bead of sweat running down her back.
They were at Graysen’s parents house for yet another Saturday night dinner party. This one was another lavish soirée with no real purpose that his mother had thrown together for the weekend. Much like every one of these events, Elain only found out that she’d need to dress up to the nines when Graysen informed her in the shower that morning, with his arms around her waist and his lips against her ear, that she’d need to look extra pretty tonight.
Elain always felt out of place at these things. She felt underdressed and unprepared. She was constantly worried about how everything she said and did would be perceived by Graysen’s parents and their friends.
She’d become an expert at flying under the radar at these events - had figured out quickly that blending into the wallpaper was more tolerable than attempting to blend in with the crowd. She’d given up on the latter after the first couple of these Saturday night parties where she worked out that no amount of socialising and smiling would get the other attendees to look at her with any semblance of respect once they found out that she sold handmade soaps and herbal tonics for a living.
She couldn’t exactly rely on Graysen to be any sort of support at these things either, not when he was too busy schmoozing with some businessman or lawyer or doctor. He’d corner her every now and then, drape her on his arm in an attempt to show her off but Elain knew how to slip away. She knew to whisper in his ear that she needed the ladies room and she certainly knew how to take her time making her way back to him. What she didn’t know was how her partner couldn’t seem to tell, or perhaps didn’t seem to care, that his family didn’t respect her.
Elain had been wandering around all evening, entertaining herself by picking at the canapés and the drinks that were balanced on trays carried by wait staff dressed in head to toe black. She’d just plucked another thin stemmed glass of red wine from a passing server when she felt the energy in the room completely shift.
She heard the way conversations suddenly stopped, felt the way the air turned stagnant. Most of all, she somehow knew, without even having to check, that every single eye in the room was focused on her.
Elain glanced up from her drink and found the nerve to turn and see what all the fuss was about but that singular second was all it took for her to wish that she’d simply minded her business.
She froze in an instant, completely and utterly paralysed at the sight in front of her. Graysen was balanced on one knee, looking up at her with his bright blue eyes and a small black velvet box cradled in his hand.
She felt like she was going to be sick. Couldn’t stop her hands from trembling, couldn’t do anything to slow the frantic racing of her heart. Part of her hoped that this was a nightmare. She prayed that she’d wake up in the safety of her bedroom and that none of this would be real.
It felt like the whole room had tilted, the wine she’d been knocking back suddenly hit her full force as she continued to stare down at him. Based on the immediate silence that had fallen around them and the look of despair that she’d somehow managed to spot on his mother’s face from where she’d suddenly appeared just behind her son, he hadn’t told anyone that he’d intended to do this tonight.
Elain couldn’t hear anything over the rush of blood between her ears and she barely registered the way his lips shaped the question as he carefully opened the box to display what could only be described as the most ostentatious ring she’d ever seen in her life. It was gigantic and shiny and so out of place compared to all the other jewellery she owned. She tried to listen to what he was saying but Graysen’s words were overtaken by another memory she’d tucked away carefully in the very back of her mind that had chosen this particular moment to resurface.
…
“You should marry a boy like that.” Her father had told her once, peering at her briefly over the top of the glasses perched low on his nose as he’d fiddled with whatever woodcarving held his attention that particular night.
Elain had been sitting in the armchair across the fire from him, quietly cursing under her breath as she tried and failed to crochet a teddy bear for Feyre’s newborn baby.
“A boy like what?” She’d asked, setting down her hook and actually looking up at her father. It was so rare for him to comment on any of his daughter’s relationships - romantic or otherwise.
“Like that Azriel boy that’s always trailing you around,” he'd muttered, once again focused on his project. “Nice kid… respectful. He’d be good for you.”
Elain had been flustered, suddenly warmer than she’d been just a minute before as she attempted to figure out how to respond. She was so taken aback by the conversation that she hadn’t even stopped to point out that her father loved to refer to Azriel as if he barely knew him. As if he hadn’t spent fifteen minutes engaging in quiet conversation with Azriel each and every time he walked in the door for the past seven or eight years. As if her father wasn’t one of the very few people to whom Azriel would offer anything more than a passing ‘hello.’.
“Az and I aren’t… we’re just…” she’d sighed. “He’s just a friend, Dad.”
“Didn’t say he wasn’t,” her father had shrugged. “Just saying I’d be happy if you married a boy like him.”
“Well I’m not looking to get married any time soon and certainly not to - wait, why are we even talking about this?” Elain questioned, cutting off her own sentence as she nervously fiddled with a knot in her skein of yarn. She’d been desperate to move on from the topic lest she be cursed to ponder her feelings for Azriel any more than she already had when she was left alone with her thoughts too long.
“Feyre is married with a new baby, Nesta’s moved out and is getting married soon so you don’t see her as much. It’s a Friday night and you’re at home with your father, El.” His voice had taken on a serious tone. “You don’t think I haven’t noticed that you’re lonely? The only time I see you really smile anymore is when you’re with him.”
“That’s not true. I’m not lonely and I like spending time with you or by myself,” she’d said, unable to meet her dad’s eyes. How could she when she knew fully well that she was lying through her teeth?
“I’m just a little worried about you lately,” Mr. Archeron had continued. “I want you to be happy, I know Azriel makes you happy and I think, for whatever reason, that scares you. ”
Elain had blushed, biting her cheek. She had no idea how her usually clueless father had zeroed in on the two truths that she kept closest to her heart. She couldn’t work out how he’d managed to sense the feeling of relentless loneliness that followed her like a shadow as everyone around her found their people and their place in the world. She certainly hadn’t been able to figure out how he’d known that her feelings for Azriel often toed the line of just friends and how that feeling had amplified once she’d found herself spending more and more time alone with him.
“Azriel doesn’t… I don’t think he sees me like that.”
There had been a million reasons running through her head. A million excuses for why she and Azriel wouldn’t work. Why they couldn’t be together. Why it would be an absolute disaster if they even tried. She’d never dared to voice them out loud, never even dared to admit that she felt like that towards him.
Mr. Archeron had laughed - two quick short breaths that sounded a lot like disbelief. Elain had always loved her father’s laugh, but in that moment it had made her angry for a reason she hadn’t been able to nail down.
Elain had stared at him, mouth agape. “What?”
“Elain, Azriel likes Nesta. He likes Feyre. But that boy loves you.”
It was Elain’s turn to laugh as her father’s words landed. She’d clutched at her pendant and set aside her long forgotten project.
“That’s ridiculous. That’s not true,” she’d said, standing up on embarrassingly shaky legs. “I’m going to bed. Goodnight, dad.”
It hadn’t even been close to the time she usually went to bed but Elain couldn’t sit and listen to that anymore. The idea of Azriel returning her feelings was preposterous. The idea that her father thought he was in love with her? Absolutely nauseating.
“Give it a chance, El.” Her father had said softly as she made her way towards the stairs. “If he likes you and you like him, give him a chance. He’s good for you.”
…
Her father’s words had haunted her all of that night until she forced them all the way into the back corner of her mind where she kept all the other similar feelings and thoughts she preferred to ignore. Suppressing the memory of that night had worked well and it had popped up only one time in the years since. When she’d been laying in bed with Azriel on one of the nights in the week after her father had passed - her tear streaked face in the crook of his neck, his hand rubbing soothing circles on the small of her back.
His words came flying back into her mind now as she looked down at the man on one knee in front of her.
“I…” She forced herself to speak after almost a full minute of silence, her fathers words still blaring in her ears.
He’s good for you.
The only time I see you smile anymore is when you’re with him.
That boy loves you.
How could she say yes to anyone else when there was only one person she’d ever truly wanted?
She needed to say something. Anything. She focused her eyes on Graysen, her face softening in the hopes of lessening the blow she was about to deal him. “Please don’t do this.”
His face fell at her whispered words, his lips pressing together into a straight line as he slowly stood up and squared his shoulders. She didn’t miss the flash of anger that passed over his face as he pocketed the ring, there and gone in a second before his usual cool demeanour settled into place.
Graysen gave her a smile that didn’t come close to reaching his eyes as he placed a hand on the small of her back and Elain did her best not to flinch away from his touch. He led her out of the room, muttering an excuse to the rest of the guests - some small joke at her expense that he trusted would make light of the situation. She tried to ignore the incessant buzz of hushed whispers as they passed by his friends and family. His mother’s relieved face was the last thing she saw before she stepped outside and took her first proper breath in what felt like minutes, relishing in the soothing feeling of the chill night air on her overheated skin.
He didn’t say anything to her. Not as they walked towards his car, not as he drove her back home. She couldn’t bring herself to say anything either, too shocked from what he’d just done to form a coherent thought. It wasn’t until they were back in her apartment that he finally broke the unbearable silence between them.
“What the hell was that?” He didn’t bother to mask his anger anymore. It resurfaced clear as day, written in every harsh line of his face. He stood a foot away from her, one hand braced on the bannister of her stairs to block her from getting around him.
“We’ve never even talked about this.” She shook her head, shakily running a hand through her hair. “We’ve never once discussed getting married.”
She knew that he hardly listened. She was fully aware that in the year they’d been together, he’d rarely taken the time to ask her questions. Had never bothered to truly get to know her. She’d ignored it at the beginning, had kept him around because he’d been the distraction that she needed at the time and she’d been happy to go along with it as weeks turned to months. She was happy to play the part of the partner he so clearly desired.
He’d been nice enough that she’d thought that one day it would click. That maybe with enough time, she could trick herself into thinking that she was capable of loving someone other than the kind-eyed boy whom she’d silently pined over for the last decade. The only person she’d ever felt comfortable enough around to not have to pretend to be anyone other than herself. It wasn’t until she’d turned to see Graysen on one knee that she knew that she couldn’t do it, couldn’t pretend to love a man that didn’t even really know her.
“I wasn’t aware that this was something we had to discuss, Elain.” Graysen replied. “You’ve just fucking embarrassed me in front of my family and friends.”
Elain scoffed, just half of a clipped laugh filled to the brim with disbelief. “That’s what bothers you about this situation? That’s what you’re annoyed about? You aren’t bothered that I said no but you’re bothered that I said no in front of all those people?”
“Of course I’m bothered that you said no but you could’ve waited to say no instead of making a scene.”
“I didn’t make a scene, Graysen!” She seethed. “You made a scene by asking me that question in a public setting when we’d never discussed this before! You’ve never asked what kind of ring I wanted, we’ve never talked about what kind of a proposal I might like, we’ve never even discussed if either of us wanted to get married at all.”
“I thought we were on the same page. I’d assumed you’d say yes!” He dragged a hand through his hair.
“You assume a lot about me and that’s the entire problem,” she shook her head solemnly. “I know I’m not an open book, I know I keep a lot to myself but you’ve never even tried. You’ve never asked me about myself or my interests or you tune out when I do talk about the shop or my family or things that I like. All you care about is dressing me up however you like and parading me around. You like that I don’t argue back, that I go along with whatever you suggest and that’s okay because I’ve played a part in that as well but you don’t know me, Graysen.”
“If you felt like that then why are you here? Why have you stayed?” Graysen asked.
“I don’t know,” she whispered. “It’s been nice and I do care about you but it hasn’t even been a full year, Gray. I just didn’t think we were close to even considering getting married.”
“So it’s not because you’re waiting for him?”
Elain stopped short, startled by his remark. Graysen had never once brought up anything that had happened back home since they’d gotten back from their trip for Nyx’s birthday at the start of the year, much to her surprise. And Elain had fought tooth and nail, used every little bit of willpower she had to stop her mind from constantly fixating on what Azriel had told her on Nesta’s porch that night. On what he’d gently advised her to do.
I can handle you being with someone else, I’ve done it for a decade… but please… please don’t stay with someone that doesn’t make you happy just to prove a point to yourself or to me or to anyone else.
She’d heard him that night and then proceeded to do exactly what he’d told her not to. She’d spent months - years in all actuality - running from her problems and it had finally caught up to her. She’d hit a brick wall, hard and fast, and now she was completely stuck, caught in a web made of all her worst decisions.
“Elain?” Graysen’s voice broke through her spiralling thoughts. “It’s because of him, isn’t it?
“No,” Elain shook her head. She couldn’t work out why even now she was fighting the truth.
“You’re in love with him aren’t you?”
“No,” she shook her head, hating the way tears immediately started to fall from her eyes, as if her body was rejecting the lie. “He’s just my best friend.”
“Take off the necklace, then.” Graysen jutted his chin towards her chest, his eyebrow raised and his lips set in a hard line. “If he isn’t the reason that you can’t say yes to me, if you don’t love him… take off the necklace.”
Elain stepped away from him, swallowing her nerves. She felt dizzy all of a sudden. Everything felt wrong, the air felt thick and heavy and a horrible ball of something ominous settled in the pit of her stomach. “I can’t take it off, Gray. I won’t.”
She really couldn’t. She’d only ever taken it off for an x-ray or a massage. She knew it was ridiculous, that it was just a physical object and it wouldn’t be the end of the world if she gave in and removed it, but unclasping her necklace would feel like the end of something and she just couldn’t bring herself to do it.
“Take it off, Elain.” Graysen demanded again, stepping towards her. “You won’t accept a ring from me but you’ll wear some piece of shit necklace that your best friend made for you years ago?”
“It’s a necklace with sentimental value, Graysen. I’ve worn it every single day for years and I’m not going to change that now.” Elain sighed. “What does the necklace have to do with this, anyway?”
“Everything. It has everything to do with this,” he moved closer. “Hate seeing that thing around your fucking neck every goddamn day.”
“I’m not going to take it off.”
“So we’re done then?” His voice went whisper soft and she froze, completely backed up against a wall with nowhere to go. She knew that when he went quiet, trouble was soon to follow.
“I didn’t say that,” Elain pinched the bridge of her nose.
“You don’t want to get married, though.”
“No, I don’t.”
“Not now or not ever?”
She stayed silent even though the answer was loud and clear in her head.
“Fucking hell, Elain.” Graysen cursed under his breath and moved in even closer. Before she knew what was happening, he’d raised his hand and reached forward, firmly grasping her beloved pendant in his fingers. With one swift movement, Graysen tugged and the chain around Elain’s neck pinched her skin as it snapped.
She was shocked. Elain stared at him with wide eyes and it wasn’t fear that coursed through her veins, but anger. She acted on instinct, shoving him backwards with two firm hands against his chest.
“Don’t you ever fucking touch me like that again,” she seethed, annoyed at the way her voice and hands shook a little. She may not have felt afraid in the moment, but it was clear that her body was having a different physical response. “Get out.”
“Elain-” Graysen tried to talk to her. Reason with her.
She was used to this - the softening of his eyes, his voice. The slight drop of his shoulders. He’d let his emotions get the best of him and now he was doing recon.
“Please, baby.” He tried again, taking one small half-step towards her.
“Get. Out.” Elain stood her ground. “Get the fuck out my apartment.”
It was clear that Graysen was surprised by this. He hadn’t expected her to argue back, not when she usually just gave in to his half hearted attempts at apologies. But she’d had enough and she’d finally stood her ground even if she’d let it go entirely too far. His defences went up in return, his shoulders squared, his jaw turned rigid, and his eyes narrowed.
“We’re done,” her voice cracked as she crossed her arms over her chest.
“So that’s it then?” Graysen raised an eyebrow. “What’s your plan, Elain? You have nothing. You have no one here. All you had was me... My friends. My money. ”
“Please, can you just go?” Elain practically begged, her heart was racing and all she wanted was a cold glass of water and to lay down.
“Do you really think he’s going to want you, Elain?” Graysen gave her a sardonic grin. “You’re nothing but a pretty face. You’ll go running back home and straight into his arms but what do you think is going to happen? He won’t want you.”
Tears pricked at Elain’s eyes and she pleaded with herself to not let them fall. She couldn’t let him win. Couldn’t let him know that everything he was saying were thoughts that she’d had about herself time and time again.
“He may keep you around for a bit but the novelty will wear off,” he shrugged. “I know how men work, Elain. You’ve strung him along for years… he doesn’t like you. He just likes the chase. He’ll fuck you a few times and then he’ll realise that you have little else to offer. You’re nothing, Elain. He may think the world of you now but you are nothing. No one will want a girl like you.”
Elain was shaking. She didn’t know whether it was from anger or nerves or perhaps embarrassment that she hadn’t been able to hold back her tears and now she could taste the salt that dampened her cheeks.
“No one wants a girl like me?” Elain managed to scoff. “Do you hear yourself? You proposed to me not even an hour ago.”
Graysen opened his mouth to speak but Elain had finally had enough. She couldn’t stand to listen to him spit more vitriolic words into her face. Couldn’t stand the reminders of everything she’d already convinced herself to be true. She walked past him, straight to the door of her apartment.
She twisted the knob, pulling the door open before turning back to face him. “Leave.”
“If I step out of that door, I’m not coming back,” Graysen threatened. “We’ll be done.”
“Leave,” she repeated.
Graysen’s jaw clenched and he let out a sharp exhale of air as he made his way towards the open door. He didn’t say anything as he looked at her, only pausing to give her a disgusted once-over before he flung her necklace on the ground. She watched as it landed right by the sharp heel of her shoe.
Elain barely heard him mutter whatever last insult he flung her way before he walked away. She closed her door and locked it but her eyes never left that shimmering piece of gold shining bright on her dark floor. She sank to her knees, tears falling so hard and fast from her eyes that the neckline of her dress was wet. She didn’t realise how quick and shallow her breaths had become until she was on the floor, her broken necklace safe in her hands.
She pulled her legs to her chest and lowered her head in between her knees, her fingers still tightly clutching the pendant. This was the lowest moment of her life and she couldn’t believe she’d let it get to this point. She was disappointed with herself. With her decisions. She’d wasted years of her life. She’d wasted her time and the time of at least two other people. She’d isolated herself from everyone that genuinely cared about her. She’d missed out on major family milestones. Had pushed away any chance of happiness that had been presented to her.
Elain had run and run and run and where had it gotten her?
She was thirty years old and lived in a city that would never feel like home. She had countless failed relationships and one disastrous marriage proposal under her belt. She was having a panic attack in her tiny apartment and there was nothing she could do about it. She grasped for her phone - desperate to have someone talk her through this terrible feeling, to remind her how to breathe.
Amidst her racing thoughts and racing heart, she ran through her options - she couldn’t bother Nesta because she didn’t want to interrupt her time with Cassian. Feyre had enough on her plate with Nyx. She wasn’t close enough with any of her old friends to put them on the spot like this. She wanted her father, wanted a hug and the gruff it’ll be fine that would never come.
There was only one other option left but there was no way in hell she was going to go through with that when Graysen’s words were still blaring through her mind.
Elain squeezed her eyes shut and tipped her head back against the door. She gripped her necklace in her fist and raised her fist to her chest, gently tapping in a rhythm that mimicked a normal heartbeat. She didn’t know how long she sat there before her heart slowed, matching the slow knocking of her fist against her chest.
Her panic had subsided but the sadness and frustration lingered and the profound loneliness that she’d been trying to ignore - the loneliness that her father had once alluded to - finally bubbled up and threatened to drown her once and for all.

Paleo Party Wallpapers are here!!!
And they’re free on my ko-fi! Every creature has at least 2 background colors: one is based off the design, and the other is their biome type (land, water, or air). Some creatures have land+water or land+air if they're amphibious or if we don't know if they could fly. Idk what I'm gonna do about megapacks, I add to this series so much, they would inevitably fall behind? Let me know if this is something you'd really like to see
I was editing together a masterlist and it erased all of my links ;n; for now you’ll have to search with the search bar, but I hope to have the masterlist together soon!

This is a lil trial so if you like it! let me know!
I scrubbed the bottles and cups with my sponge and hummed to myself when I perked up as I heard the unmistakable sound. I set down my dishes and headed out of my little house to see the familiar blue box on my garden grass. The door opened and he stepped out looking almost exactly as I last saw him but there was more gravity to his eyes, more darkness there than I had last seen. He wore the same suit his hair the same and he smiled at me.
I chuckled as I put my hands in my pockets, "Been a while since I saw you doctor,"
"Did I inspire you?" He smirked as he looked at my outfit,
I looked down at my outfit, my little white sneakers, my black leggings, long sleeve white t-shirt, blue pinafore and white headband in my hair, "Somewhat." I shrugged putting my hands in my pockets, "How long has it been for you? Since we saw each other last?"
"...I don't know," he sighed, "I'm fairly convinced... a few months, a few years, It's hard to keep track of these things."
"Six years."
"Six?"
"Six years since you left."
"...God I've wasted time." He sighed running a hand over his face,
"It's alright, I know it passes quick for you,"
"It never gets any easier. To see how people change when I come back." He explained,
"What are you doing here?"
"... a bit of a farewell tour, I had to come visit one of my favourite humans."
"Quiet the compliment, Tea?" I offered,
"Pop the kettle on Y/n." He smiled so I led him into the house, "quiet the place,"
"Well I had time," I laughed, "You still take Three sugars?" I asked as I went to the kitchen and began to make two cups of tea the basic reflex of it all coming back to me even after six years to make the two teas as perfectly desired,
"You still remember? Still, care?"
"Hard not to care about a man you spent so long of your life flying around space and time with," I laughed handing him his tea and taking my own having a seat on the sofa,
He had a sip and sat down beside me and we chatted between the sips of tea, "what have you been up to then? the last six years."
"Living I suppose, It's a little strange to just come back and settle into a normal life after everything... I mean... You took me to the edge of the universe. To the beginning and the end of time. To sights and sounds, I'd never even imagined... And then I come back and ... get a mortgage"
"Ugh normality," he grimaced,
"It's not all bad, I've built a decent if... dull life by comparison."
"You miss it? Travelling?"
"I miss it. But... life goes on. I'm happy."
"I'm glad to hear it." He smiled, "That you're enjoying it,"
"I am." I nodded,
"Do you ever think of about going back?" he asked,
"I don't know," I answered, "So much has changed,"
"You like living here then? No more living out of suitcases and the tardis' wardrobes exploring the ends of the universe."
I giggled, "No, no more of that. I like living here. Built a career, a life, filled my house with trinkets from adventures."
"quiet the life, all that's left is a wedding and a baby,"
I did my best to save face but, "I uhh yeah... divorced so."
"Oh... sorry. I-"
"It's alright, don't worry over it,"
"I am sorry, really I am sorry," he said as he took my hand, "I don't mean to bring up bad memories,"
"It's fine. really." I nodded squeezing his hand,
"Anything else I should know I missed?"
I smiled and squeezed his hand tugging him with me as I set down my mug, I led him upstairs to the bedroom I let him go and headed inside to the room filled with stary wallpaper, sweet blue fabrics, the shadow of the star lamp on the ceiling, and the little crib to the side, I leant on the side of the crib and he came over to have a look too.
He smiled and leant on the crib with me too, he laughed and looked down at him.
"This is Danny,"
"Danny." he smiled, "I love it, perfect name, brilliant name," He smiled, "May I?"
"So long as you don't wake him, doctor," I laughed picking Danny up and handing him over,
"Ohhh Hello," he smiled as he held Danny in his arms, "You're my new best friend aren't you Danny,"
"Ohh I bet he will be," I smiled, "He loves stories about you,"
"He does?"
"Of course, he loves them. there his favourite stories for bedtime," I smiled, "Ohh almost forgot, he'll get grumpy without his favourite toy." I laughed as I took Danny's little crotchet sonic screwdriver from the crib and let Danny hold it in his little hand,
"You made it for him?"
"Yeah, I figured he'd like it."
"Maybe, he always waves it at the light switch when he wants them turned on,"
"Like his own little sonic screwdriver," he chuckled, "He'll be ready to head off through time and space pretty soon,"
"I think so," I laughed,
"You're a very good mother to him Y/n,"
"I do my best," I laughed,
"You must be, he loves your stories, loves his toys gets his beautiful eyes from you,"
"I kinda hope he didn't get much from his father,"
"Was his father that bad?"
"He was a jackass. some men are."
"Some men are." He chuckled before he pulled out his screwdriver pointing it to the starlight and after a few seconds, the cheap white star and moon-shaped shadows turned into vibrant colours and views of the stars of planets, stars, and galaxies full of colour and life, moving gently with a spin and sweep across the white ceiling.
"You-"
"My little gift. for Danny," He smiled, "so he can look up at the stars,"
"Thank you," I smiled,
he set Danny back in his crib to sleep, and we headed back to the sofa,
"Why are you here doctor?" I asked,
"Visiting." He smiled,
"You haven't visited once in six years, why not?"
"Because I missed you, I miss everyone but... I missed you most."
"Thank you, I missed you too."
"did you ever think that you'd be a mother back when we were travelling? Or did you ever think about it when travelling the universes, settling down and having a child?" He asked,
"Admit it very rarely entered my mind. So much else going on." I explained holding my mug in hand and stroking it between my fingers, "But it had always been there the desire to settle down and have a child."
"You deserve to finally rest and raise a child, life is hard and it's nice to have a little bit of hope and peace in your life. I just hope that you are truly happy that you are finally able to settle down somewhere and be content,"
"I am happy," I nodded, "But... can I tell you a secret?"
"I won't tell a soul,"
I blushed running my hands along the curve of the mug, "I always thought It would be with you... Settling down I mean. Crossed my mind more than once over all those years to imagine a room in the Tardis with a crib and a universe's worth of toys, and a baby... with you,"
He blushed a little, "Really?" He asked, "We went through so much together and now you're telling me you were really thinking about settling down with me,"
"I did. Guess I was a stupid little girl then..."
His smile widened, "You weren't stupid,"
"No?"
"No, and if it means anything. I was thinking about it too."
"What?"
"I did,"
"why didn't you ever tell me?"
"All of time and space... I never found the time," He said, "but I did always wonder about what would have happened if we did just settle down and have a nice quiet little life together,"
"it would have been nice... It must have been hard then ... To just leave me here?"
"I wanted you to stay with me... that's the thing, that was the hardest for me, it was extremely difficult leaving you. I wanted to stay and stay with you forever,"
I finally met his eyes, "Wanted? or still want?"
he didn't answer leaving us in silence for a moment before his hand gently took my cheek and his lips pressed gently against my own, I blushed hard and softly kissed back, until he pulled away his nose against my own,
"Do you really need me to answer that?"
"...More than anything,"
"Yes, it's always been yes. always will be yes." He smiled as he happily kissed me again, I kissed back excitedly until we pulled away.
"If it is still what you want," I whispered, "It's here waiting for you,"

I had commissioned the below beautiful piece of art by @blissfulip based on this hilarious tiktok. That naturally turned into this fic. I don't feel confident in my period romance writing skills, so I instead set it in modern times.
Word count: 1.9k
You take Silco to a secluded log cabin in the woods for a romantic weekend getaway. He has no choice but to humor you with a silly little request.
Read on AO3
A/N: Just something silly that naturally turned a little angsty and then a bit fluffy. (And if it eventually turns smutty in a future part two, who knows. No promises. But you know how I get sometimes. I get bit by the smut bug.) Thanks again @blissfulip for the beautiful art! (I might need to make this my phone wallpaper lolol)

how theyd react to you having someone else as your wallpaper hc?
atsumu, kageyama, tsukki, oikawa, kenma, and bokuto x gn!reader
tw! nothing really. its just fluff. mentions of phone jacking and hacking
atsumu is offended, thank you very much. hes like “gasp!! how come your wallpaper is anyone BUT me?? this is ridiculous!” and youre here smacking your own forehead. damn hes pretty dramatic you think. so you give him some kisses and then take a secret photo of him while hes distracted and set it as your new wallpaper. he whines bc it isnt the best pic(every pic is tsum’s best pic) of him. but you tell ‘im, “its either this or i change it back to what it was before” so he just goes along with it
kageyama/tsukki are baffled bc why have someone else as your wallpaper. they will beat him em up. like both of them will hunt down whoever is on your screen. yall in japan rn? your wallpaper is jaemin from nct? you know he’ll fly to korea and be like “yo jaemin! y/n is mine buddy, back off!” and youd be so embarrassed. but hey, you were in jaemin’s proximity 😍😍
oikawa does not like it. bc hes your one and only, how dare anyone else be your wallpaper besides his amazing self. so he jacks your phone and changes it to a quick selfie he just took to place as your wallpaper.
kenma hacks your phone and changed it to himself(oik is jacking, kenma is full on hacking from a computer ). bro infiltrated your phone… bc kenma is just that good. but not just any picture. its a cute picture you cant even deny or have the heart to change it.
bokuto gets gloomy and depressy. and then he goes around following you “babyyy why not me? pick me. choose me” and youre so confused. until he claws at your phone and starts pointing at the screen do you realize hes salty about someone else as your wallpaper. and so you sooth him by letting him sleep on your lap, then you take a pic of him and make it your new wallpaper. bokuto wakes up as a happy man once again

Part 2 to haunted
pairing: tyler owen’s x f! reader
As they peered down the staircase, the darkness seemed to stretch endlessly, swallowing up the beam from their flashlights. Tyler tightened his grip around Y/N’s hand, his other hand clenched around the flashlight, his knuckles turning white. He could feel her trembling, but her determination to push forward matched his. Together, they descended the creaking stairs, each step reverberating through the eerie silence.
Behind them, Boone, Javi, and Kate followed, but their footsteps faltered as they reached the landing, their breaths coming in quick gasps. Boone’s bravado had disappeared entirely, and he clung to Javi’s arm as if he were a lifeline. The whispers had gone quiet, but the air felt charged, like the calm before a storm.
Suddenly, halfway down the stairs, there was a loud clatter as something fell behind them. Y/N spun around, her flashlight shaking as she aimed it up the staircase. Her beam caught sight of an old wheelchair, now lying on its side at the top of the stairs, its wheels spinning slowly. The group froze, eyes wide, as they realized that none of them had touched it.
“It’s… it’s just the wind,” Kate stammered, but her voice wavered.
Boone shook his head furiously. “There ain’t no damn wind in here, Kate!”
Before anyone could respond, there was a loud bang the wheelchair suddenly snapped upright and rolled toward them with impossible speed. It barreled down the stairs, and they barely had time to scramble out of the way before it crashed into the wall where they had been standing.
Y/N gasped as Tyler pulled her against the wall, pressing her close as the wheelchair crashed past them, sending echoes bouncing through the dark stairwell. The air seemed to vibrate with the force of it, and when the noise finally faded, the silence felt even more suffocating.
“Okay, okay, we’re leaving. Right now,” Boone said, his voice breaking as he stumbled back toward the stairs, but just as he turned to run, the door at the top of the stairs slammed shut with a thunderous boom.
Kate let out a choked sob, her hand flying to her mouth as she stared at the door, then back at the others. “We’re trapped! We’re trapped in here!”
Tyler held Y/N close, trying to keep her calm even as his heart pounded in his chest. “Stay with me, darlin’. We’ll find another way out,” he murmured, his voice soft but filled with urgency. He glanced over at Javi, who was gripping his flashlight like a weapon. “Javi, keep an eye out behind us. Boone, take the lead, find a door that might open.”
Boone nodded, his hands shaking as he fumbled with his flashlight and moved ahead. The group continued down the stairs, their footsteps echoing like the rhythmic ticking of a clock. The air grew colder, and with each breath, they could see their own fear manifesting in the form of misty clouds.
When they reached the bottom of the stairs, the hallway ahead was even darker than before. The flashlight beams barely cut through the shadows, revealing peeling wallpaper and rusted doors that seemed to lean inward, as if they were listening to their every word.
As they inched forward, Boone stopped suddenly, holding up a hand. “Wait. Did you hear that?” he whispered, his voice barely audible.
The group froze, straining to hear whatever Boone had picked up. At first, it was just silence but then, a low growl rumbled through the darkness, a sound that seemed to come from deep within the walls. It was wet and gurgling, like a voice that hadn’t spoken in decades, and it made the hairs on the back of Y/N’s neck stand up.
Tyler stepped in front of Y/N, his flashlight aimed toward the source of the noise. “Whoever’s doing this, you better knock it off!” he called out, but his voice only echoed back to him, swallowed by the oppressive darkness.
Then, without warning, a door down the hall flew open with a loud crack, slamming against the wall. The sound reverberated through the hallway, followed by the high-pitched screech of metal scraping against metal. Y/N’s flashlight flickered wildly, and for a moment, she swore she saw a shadow darting just beyond the doorway, its movements too quick to follow.
Boone turned and bolted in the opposite direction, but before he could get far, the door next to him swung open, and a cold, skeletal hand shot out from the darkness, grabbing his shoulder. Boone screamed, a raw, guttural sound as he tried to pull away, but the hand held him with impossible strength.
“Help! Get it off me!” Boone shrieked, thrashing wildly as Javi and Tyler lunged toward him, trying to pry the hand loose. Y/N grabbed onto Tyler’s arm, her breath coming in panicked bursts, but as quickly as it had appeared, the hand released Boone, slipping back into the darkness. He stumbled back, his eyes wide and wild, but there was no one in the doorway just shadows dancing along the edges of the flashlight beam.
Kate was crying now, her hands shaking as she clutched her camera. “This isn’t real. It can’t be real,” she kept muttering to herself, backing up against the wall.
Tyler shook Boone, trying to snap him out of his daze. “Boone, look at me. You’re okay. We’ve got to keep moving,” he said urgently.
Boone nodded, though his hands were still trembling. He took a shaky breath and picked up his flashlight, avoiding the open doorway as they moved past it. The group pressed forward, but the whispers returned, closer now, swirling around them like a cold wind.
Y/N clung to Tyler’s arm, trying to keep her focus on his voice, his presence, but the darkness seemed to warp around them, bending the light in strange ways. Every now and then, she thought she caught a glimpse of a face in the shadows eyes watching her, mouths twisted in silent screams but when she blinked, they were gone.
As they rounded a corner, Javi stumbled over something on the floor and fell, his flashlight clattering away. Tyler hurried to help him up, but when Y/N’s beam landed on the object he had tripped over, her blood ran cold.
It was a dusty, old photograph, crumpled and faded. But in the light, she could make out the figures doctors and patients, their faces hollow-eyed and gaunt, standing in front of the sanatorium. And behind them, barely visible, was a shadowy figure with glowing eyes, staring directly at the camera.
Y/N dropped the photograph as if it had burned her, stumbling back into Tyler’s arms. “We need to leave. We need to leave now,” she whispered frantically, her voice breaking.
Tyler nodded, wrapping his arm around her and pulling her close as they moved toward the end of the hallway. Boone and Javi followed, their faces pale and drawn, while Kate trailed behind, her camera still clutched to her chest like a lifeline.
But just as they reached a door that seemed like it might open, the whispers rose to a deafening chorus, filling the air with a sound like nails on a chalkboard. The lights flickered, casting twisted shadows on the walls, and a figure appeared at the end of the hallway tall, distorted, its face hidden in darkness.
It moved toward them with unnatural speed, closing the distance in seconds. Tyler shoved the door open, practically dragging Y/N through as the others stumbled in behind them. He slammed it shut, leaning his weight against it as the whispers outside rose to a fever pitch.
But as the door buckled under the pressure of the unseen force outside, the group realized with horror that the room they had entered was filled with old medical equipment, and each machine bore a strange, rhythmic beeping, like a heartbeat that echoed through the small space.
And from the shadows, the whispers began to form words again soft, taunting, filled with malice. “You’ll never escape. Not alive.”
Tyler held Y/N tighter, pressing his forehead against hers. “We’re getting out of here, I promise,” he whispered, but as the shadows closed in and the temperature dropped even further, the group knew that whatever had trapped them here wasn’t going to let them go without a fight.

heartbreak anniversary
a/n: just saying, i may break your heart... and this has barely anything to do with the song...
masterlist
pierre is laying flat on his back, eyes tracing the wallpaper lined on the ceiling. he never thought wallpapers should be put up there, but that wasn't what you thought. the intricate details of the slightly reflective material curving the white background reminded him of stars in the sky, the shining light in darkness. he remembers the exact day you picked this out, lugging the entire roll through the front door.
-
"mon amour, what are you doing?" pierre asked worriedly, helping you to pull the roll through the door.
"wallpaper! thought it'd look good on the ceiling." your forehead was covered in sweat, but you still grinned at him lovingly.
"wallpaper on the ceiling? what for? our walls are painted just fine."
"oh just wait till i stick it up there."
"careful, mon ange." he warns.
you look down at him smiling, "i'll be okay, pierre."
the door bell rings, and that's pierre's cue to snap back to reality. he trudged to the front door, opening it to reveal charles, holding a case of beers and takeout.
"i'm really not in the mood, charles." pierre tells him as he walks straight into the house.
charles chucks the beer in the fridge, "well, i honestly couldn't care. you need to get out of this foul mood you've been in for the last month."
"i broke up with her, don't expect me to be popping champagne." pierre mumbles.
"yeah, you made a mistake. mourn, then get over it."
mistake. yeah, he made a grave mistake. pierre plops himself on the couch while charles pulls out plates for the both of them, piling each one with food. he hands one of them to pierre - chinese takeout from your favourite restaurant. but he couldn't blame charles, the boy wouldn't have known a mere chao mien could bring up unwanted memories.
charles takes a seat next to him, "she's in milan, yknow. walking for dior and versace next week."
pierre nearly drops his chopsticks, but he turns to look at charles.
"how did you know?" his friend looks at him sympathetically, but turns back to his plate.
"i had dinner with her and charlotte a couple of days ago. she was in monaco."
pierre doesn't respond, a silence falling between them. he thinks to the time they went on double dates, travelling the world together, doing the things they loved. they made a great friend group, if only he didn't fuck up.
"she's doing okay, pierre." charles finally says. pierre hums in response.
"you fucked up, but she's doing okay. she's moving on, maybe you should too."
fucked up. that was the understatement of the year. he more than royally fucked up, pierre knew he broke the one good thing he had going on in his life just because of a bad night.
-
"i can't believe you, pierre gasly. i can't fucking believe you." you pace the walls of the room, anger boiling in your chest.
"we had one bad argument, then you get on the plane without me - fly home and find some chick?!" you shouted, almost screamed at him. pierre sat on the couch with his head in his hands. he hasn't seen you this angry in the two years he's known you.
"i'm sorry, mon ange. i'm sorry, i'm so sorry." he shakes his head, repeating the words over and over again.
"what were you thinking? do you still want to do this?" your voice cracks, and god knows you're trying so hard not to cry. pierre's head shoots up at your words, and he grabs your wrist.
"don't leave, mon amour. i still want us, i still want you."
you pull away from him, crossing your arms in front of you, "i don't think you do, pierre."
"i do, i really do." the pain in his voice was unbearable to you, and the tears started to fall.
"then why did you do that, why did you even bring her to see your mom? how could you do such a thing?"
"i-i didn't, you have to trust me on this, mon ange. we were at a cafe, and saw my mom- and i- we-" pierre had tears in his eyes, he was choking on every emotion he was feeling in his body. he wanted to scream at those damned paparazzi, following his every move; if the pictures didn't leak, maybe none of this would've happened.
"i don't know if i can trust you anymore." although it was sort of a relief, hearing that he didn't exactly mean for his mother to see that woman, you still felt so stuck, so in pain that the one person you trusted with your whole life had betrayed you, just like that.
"please, mon ange." he begged.
"i''m sorry, pierre."
-
"it's our third anniversary tomorrow." pierre finally says.
charles looks at pierre, and he can't quite decipher his emotions - was it sadness, pain or anger? he squeezes his best friend's shoulder, "it'll be okay, you will get through this."
will he though? no one actually knew. not pierre, not charles, not even the gods above. charles gathers both their plates - his empty, pierre's barely touched, and puts them in the dishwasher. he contemplates getting a beer for both of them, but decides against it as he watches his best friend stare into empty space.
charles sighs, "i'm gonna let you have the space. i'll see you next week, pierre."
"thank you for dinner." was all that pierre managed to say. his friend smiles at him, "it's the least i could do."
midnight strikes and pierre is still laying on the couch, tear stains on his cheeks, and his ragged breathing returning to normal. he picks up his phone to check the time, and the dreadful notification is on the top of his screen.
💕third anniversary!!💕
he doesn't know why he needed to set up a god damn calendar notification, because everyone knew that was the one day in the year no one could touch. he almost throws his phone to the ground in anger but he stops himself, unlocking the screen and going straight to your name. your contact was saved with a picture of you in his helmet at the very first race you were invited to, your eyes were glistening with joy. it was one of his favourite pictures, though he could barely see your face, he could feel the happiness even through the screen. he taps on the keypad carefully, making sure there were no typos, no mistakes.
joyeux troisième anniversaire, mon amour. tu me manque.
happy third anniversary, my love. i miss you. hit send. the deed was done. he couldn't turn back now. the screen dims for a moment, then lights up, three hopeful dots changes the mood in the room immediately. he watches the text bubble move, then disappear; move, then disappear.
it takes an hour, whole sixty minutes before his phone vibrates again. immediately pierre grabs his phone, fumbling with the screen to get to your message. it's only one sentence, but he didn't expect it to break his heart all over again.
j'espère que tu vas bien Pierre
i hope you are doing well, pierre. nothing more, nothing less. and it hurts. like a knife to his chest, it hurts like hell. pierre pushes his phone onto the coffee table, dragging his body through the house and into the room. he practically throws himself on to his unmade bed, burying his head in his pillow.
he was defeated, and he felt in his heart that this was the end. there was no return for you and him. this was goodbye, he thought to himself. this was the sign he needed to move on.
but the phone buzzes once more.
tu me manques aussi
i miss you too.
