The empire (that is more formally known as the Second Mexican Empire) was started in 1864 by Emperor Armando, Jacqueline’s great-great-great-great grandfather. He was a lieutenant general within the Mexican army, and after he forced French forces out of Mexico and ordered their surrender, due to his wealth and influence (as he hailed from a Cuban-Mexican old money family), he declared himself emperor of Mexico due to his desire for the Mexican empire’s restoration.

During the reign of Jacqueline’s great-great grandfather—Emperor Gustavo Hernando—a socialist and wannabe dictator named Álvaro Angel Hernandez created an anti-monarchy “party” that wished to abolish the Mexican empire due to seeing the (then current) imperial family as corrupt. The party gained members, notoriety, and infamy throughout Mexico, and Álvaro had even gained some power over Mexico City and its neighboring territories. Álvaro seemingly went mad and randomly decided to storm the palace in an attempt to overthrow Emperor Gustavo. That attempt was unsuccessful, and Álvaro was tried with heavy treason and sentenced to death by hanging. His execution sparked the Guerra del Palacio (the War of the Palace), and the conflict lasted for three and a half years.

With the empire’s power, and with the help of Brazilian, Cuban, and later American troops, the Mexican empire defeated Álvaro’s party and prevented being replaced with an authoritarian, socialist regime. Since then, the War of the Palace has been the only civil war that the imperial family has had to face.

Mexico has one of the wealthiest imperial families in the world, having a net worth of $10.5 billion, and placing them at 5th on the list of wealthiest monarchs in the world. All of that money belongs to the emperor, and it stems from Mexico’s investments in the oil industry and agriculture, their various exports (such as beer, chocolate, chilis, and tomatoes), the support from the Mexican citizens, and from the emperor’s own investments into large scale banks around the world. The $10.5 billion will be split between the emperor’s immediate family (his daughters and his eldest daughter’s three children) upon his death.

Mexico became the first monarchy in the world to implement absolute primogeniture (meaning any child can assume the role of heir apparent to the throne regardless of their gender) in 1914. It was proposed by Emperor Gustavo after the birth of his three daughters after the birth of his eldest son. He was worried about the potential extinction of the dynasty if his son either died or was unable to marry or produce a male heir, and Gustavo’s own lack of another male heir only increased his worries. To ensure that the dynasty would live on, he proposed the idea of absolute primogeniture to the Mexican government.

His proposal was taken into question, as back then, women were seen as “unfit” monarchs and were seen as incapable of ruling a country. However, due to much pushing by the emperor over the course of eight months, by a vote of 71–63, absolute primogeniture was officially adopted in Mexico in regards to the empire’s line of succession. The empire received its first female heir apparent upon the birth of Crown Princess (now Empress) Victoria in 1967.

Since 1873, the empire of Mexico has also been known as the United Empire of Mexico (or the Imperio Unido de México) due to the numerous conquests ordered by Emperor Armando. Countries under the United Empire of Mexico include the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Panama. From 1891 to 1959 (68 years), Cuba was also a part of the United Empire, and monarchs and their consorts held the titles of Emperor and Empress of Cuba.

The Second Mexican empire started off with a rather large amount of wealth, as its founder, Lieutenant General Armando José Enrique Velasco, hailed from a Mexican-Cuban old money family that was worth $16.4 billion ($302.5 billion in today’s money) by Armando’s father’s death in 1867. Upon his father’s death, the money was split between Armando and his brother, with both of them receiving $8.2 billion ($151.2 billion in today’s money). That fortune has been slightly diminished and restored over the years.

The Second Mexican Empire is an absolute, hereditary, and self-proclaimed monarchy. It was originally a semi-constitutional monarchy during Emperor Alphons’ reign, and during Emperor Fernando’s reign, it became a complete constitutional monarchy. The empire only became an absolute monarchy after its restoration. It is a self-proclaimed monarchy due to Emperor Armando declaring himself the emperor of Mexico after defeating the French.

Emperor Alphons—Armando’s eldest son—had the shortest reign of any Mexican monarch ever, as he only reigned for 11 years. He was known to be somewhat sickly from birth, and his sickness worsened later in his life, resulting in his early-ish death. Alphons was also said to be attractive during his youth and was quite the notorious playboy before he met his wife and consort, Josefina Ivette Isabel Correia, Lady Salvaterra, to whom he was distantly related to.

In his youth, Emperor Gustavo had quite the large selection of noble and royal ladies to choose from for marriage (or rather, for his parents to choose from). From that selection, he had wed Princess Helena Dorothea Maria Anna of Greece and Denmark, Viscountess Württemberg, a member of the Greek royal family and of the German noble House of Württemberg. However, they’re relationship was rocky and they seemed more like acquaintances than husband and wife, and just a year later, Gustavo and Princess Helena divorced. However, their marriage did bring the Mexican, Greek, and Danish royal/imperial families closer together, and it solidified their relationship for the next four generations. Princess Helena was never given the title of empress. A few months later, Gustavo married Agustina Natalia Sophia, Baroness of San Luis de la Paz, and the daughter of the Duke of Guanajuato.

Emperor José Manuel established the most international connections for the Mexican empire, ranking just below his son, Fernando. His marriage to Yoo Hyeryun, a middle class Korean native, was one of them, as well as his ally-ship with India, his friendships with the British, Greek, and Spanish royal families, and his push for exports and the offering of support to foreign allies. José Manuel also has the second longest reign of any monarch in Mexico, placing behind his son.

Emperor Fernando became the first Korean-Mexican to ascend to the imperial throne after his father’s death in 1960. He also has the longest reign of any Mexican monarch, and will uphold that title until his daughter can manage to surpass him.

Empress Victoria became Mexico’s first female regent in all its 139-year history, which caused her to also have the most viewed coronation since her father’s in 1960, amassing a total of 81.5 million people in Mexico and 24 million people worldwide. Meaning, a total of 105.5 million people had watched Victoria’s coronation. She also became the second mixed Korean to ascend to the Mexican throne.

Empress Agustina was known for introducing a lot of foreign customs to Mexico during her husband’s reign. She was known for her love of travel and for her interest in other (specifically European) cultures. She introduced the Scottish Lomond waltz to the Mexican imperial court, and had also introduced the concept of debutante balls to the country, as she established Empress Agustina’s Debutante Ball (Baile de Debutante de la Emperatriz Agustina) after attending Queen Charlotte’s Ball in London.

Dowager Empress Consuelo Teresa (or Yoo Hyeryun) became the first Korean woman to assume the title of empress (consort) of Mexico upon her husband’s ascension to the throne in 1928. She achieved massive notoriety due to this (and also due to her beauty), and further established positive connections between Mexico and South Korea. She also became known as the first commoner to marry into the imperial family, and became the first commoner to assume the title of empress consort. She is also the longest living empress in the empire’s history, being 102 years old by the events of Trigger Happy Havoc.

There had actually been a empress regent of Mexico prior to Victoria, although she wasn’t officially counted as a reigning empress like Victoria. Her name was Princess Josefina Maria Lupita, and she was Emperor Alphons’ older sister, and Emperor Armando’s first born child. Due to Mexico’s male preference primogeniture at the time, Josefina was misplaced at heir to the throne once her brother was born. She didn’t see it as an issue until she was in her thirties. Just a few months after Alphons was crowned, Josefina secretly mobilized a part of Mexico’s military, and had ordered them to storm her brother’s apartments within Chapultepec Castle

A few dozen were injured during that attempt of a “coup,” and two had died due to their injuries. Alphons originally thought that the attack was ordered by anti-royalists, but he later found out that it was ordered by his own sister. He was quick to declare war on Josefina, who was forced to flee to Costa Rica with the remainder of her troops. The war—which was named the “War of the Chrysanthemum”—lasted for only seven months, before it eventually came to a stalemate due to the intervention of the siblings’ mother. Alphons wanted to keep Josefina in Costa Rica, but was advised not to. After the war, the siblings never even looked at each other again, and Josefina moved out of Chapultepec Castle and into a separate estate

During the war, Josefina had triumphed over her brother for a short period of time (about a month or two) and had become Empress Josefina, and was “ruling” from Costa Rica. However, as she had never had a formal coronation and as she had an incredibly short reign, historians do not count Josefina as a true sovereign, and the title of “first empress regent of Mexico” officially goes to Victoria. Technically, however, it goes to Josefina

Emperor José Manuel’s brother, José Ramón, Jacqueline’s great-great uncle, had married Princess Alexandra-Beatrice of Battenberg, the youngest daughter of Princess Victoria of Hesse and by Rhine, and of Prince Louis of Battenberg. Alexandra-Beatrice—Jacqueline’s great-great aunt—was the great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria, making the former queen of the United Kingdom Jacqueline’s great-great-great-great-great grandaunt.

Jacqueline’s great-aunt—Princess Valentina of Spain—is married to Prince Georgios of Greece and Denmark, Jacqueline’s uncle, and her title upon her marriage became Crown Princess Victoria of Greece and Spain. Crown Prince Georgios was formerly King George III of Greece, while Princess Valentina was Queen Valentina of Greece, the country’s first Spanish queen consort. However, Georgios only ruled for two years, and he abdicated the throne in favor of his younger brother, the now King Constantine II of Greece. Due to the marriage between Valentina and Georgios, however, that makes the Mexican imperial family relatives to the Greek royal family.

King Constantine II is Jacqueline’s great-uncle and his wife, Queen Anne-Marie of Greece and Denmark, is her great-aunt. Crown Prince Pavlos is Jacqueline’s second cousin, once removed/uncle, and his wife—Crown Princess Marie-Chantal—is her aunt. Pavlos and Marie-Chantal’s five children are all Jacqueline’s second cousins. Furthermore, that makes Crystal Bienvenu (Jacqueline’s classmate) and her siblings Jacqueline’s third cousins (and they had no idea that they were that closely related).

The Mexican imperial family is incredibly popular among its citizens, and is said to be well loved. They are known to be a very progressive, casual, down-to-earth, and friendly family to the Mexican public, royal watchers, and to foreigners. They are also known for their close relationship despite their large number of members.

Despite their close relationship now, the Mexican imperial family was known as very rigid, somewhat cold, and had a nearly distant family life up until Emperor Gustavo’s marriage to Baroness Agustina Natalia Sophia.

Although the empire was previously abolished in 2003, after society was restored following the events of The Tragedy, Mexico was significantly affected by the world’s societal collapse and by a devastating war between the country and Cuba caused by The Tragedy, and in an overwhelming 125–9 vote, the Mexican empire was restored, the imperial family was allowed back, and Emperor Fernando got his political power restored. However, six months later, he abdicated the throne in favor of his eldest daughter and Jacqueline’s mother, Victoria.

During the holiday season and before Christmas, the imperial family sends out cards with a portrait of the entire family—both the Mexican imperial family and the extended Bourbon-Perez/Spanish royal family—on the front. 1,000 cards are sent out to random households in Mexico and around the world every year, and all of them are personally signed by the emperor and empress. Only 50 cards are signed by other members of the family. This tradition started during the reign of Emperor Alphons in the late 1800s, and had increased in popularity during the reign of Emperor José Manuel.

Christmas portraits of the emperor’s immediate family and individual portraits of members of the imperial family are also released before Christmas, as well.

The children of the family also make Christmas cards, write messages in them, and sign them for the palace staff. The messages usually thank the staff for their hard work throughout the year. Jacqueline is known for tying each of her cards with gold, red, or green ribbons, and she’s known for gifting the staff with homemade cookies, as well.

There is a Christmas tree located in one of the imperial family’s winter residences, and before Christmas, the family makes decorations to hang from the tree, and they also hang home baked cookies—that are mainly baked by Jacqueline—from it, as well. Additionally, the oldest or youngest child gets to place the star/angel on top (it depends on the year).

On Christmas Eve, a formal dinner is held at the family’s winter residence and includes only the family members and their close guests (such as friends and government officials with close connections to the imperial family).

Also on Christmas Eve, the imperial family usually plays soccer/football on the grounds of their winter residence. This tradition was started by Emperor Gustavo in the early 1900s. Currently, Prince Alejandro and Empress Victoria have won the most games. The imperial family also plays Monopoly on Christmas Eve, which was started by Prince Alejandro.

Alejandro and Jacqueline also skate on the pond on the grounds of the family’s winter residence on Christmas Eve, which was turned into an ice skating rink at Emperor Daniel’s request when his children were young. Additionally, the imperial family also plays ice hockey. In regards to that, Jacqueline and her teams have won the most games.

The Mexican imperial family usually attends church service at the Catedral Metropolitana on a Sunday before Christmas. On Christmas Day, they attend church again, no matter what day it is, and that service is a much more public event due to it taking place on Christmas Day. During service, the emperor and empress’s Christmas speeches are broadcasted throughout the country, and tens of millions of Mexican citizens either watch or listen in. After service, the imperial family has a carriage procession through Mexico City, and that night, a final Christmas ball is held. Following the ball, the family usually watches Christmas movies at their winter residence, as well as a late night rerun of the emperor and empress’s Christmas broadcast.

Christmas is one of the imperial family’s favorite holidays, along with Independence Day, Day of the Dead, and Chuseok.

The imperial family combines a lot of Christmas traditions from different countries during the holiday season. Of course, there are mainly Mexican, Spanish, Korean, and British traditions, but there are also German and Scottish traditions mixed in, as well.

Mexico is known for sending numerous equestrians, sailors, surfers, soccer players, and runners to the Olympics, most of which have medaled. Members of the imperial family who have competed in the Olympics include: Emperor Alphons’ second son, who competed in equestrianism and won bronze, Emperor Gustavo’s youngest son, who competed in sailing and placed fourth, Empress Victoria, who competed in equestrianism and tennis and won silver and gold, Princess Luisa, Victoria’s younger sister, who competed in swimming and won gold, Prince Alejandro, Victoria’s eldest son, who competed at both the summer and winter Olympics and won gold in figure skating and gold in equestrianism, Princess Jacqueline, who competed in figure skating and won gold, as well, Princess Isabel, Victoria’s other younger sister, who competed in snowboarding and won bronze, and Princess Catalina Anita, who competed in gymnastics and track and won gold and bronze.

Like the United Kingdom, the Mexican empire has an established social season as well. It starts on February 1st with the state opening of Parliament, and it ends on December 9th with Empress Agustina’s Debutante Ball. In between, events like flower shows, opera performances, sports tournaments, society galas, a dog show, and an imperial derby are held. A five month break also occurs in between July and December. The social season was also introduced by Empress Agustina, but it didn’t become widespread until Emperor José Manuel’s reign.

Mexico is also known for its classic original operas, productions, and various opera singers. The annual opera performance at the Gran Teatro Nacional is one of the most anticipated events during the social season, and it is one of Dowager Empress Consuelo Teresa, Emperor Fernando, Empress Catalina-Beatriz, Empress Victoria, and Victoria’s children’s favorite event during the season.

Mexico also has quite the large amount of painters and photographers. Two of the most renowned painters and photographers are Lady Magdalena de la Cerda, a member of the aristocratic la Cerda family and a famous landscape, surrealist, and portrait artist, and Guillermo Hernandez-Mendez, a photographer famous for his landscape shots and creativity. Both of them work for the imperial family, and they usually create the family’s portraits.

Mexico is also known for its incredibly strong military. It’s head is, of course, the current monarch of the empire. Emperor José Manuel had extensive military knowledge and training, which he passed on to his sons, the future Emperor Fernando included. Fernando passed that military knowledge onto his eldest daughter and heir apparent, the future Empress Victoria, who further strengthened Mexico’s military just like her father and grandfather had done.

Dowager Empress Consuelo Teresa introduced the Korean holiday of Chuseok and the celebration of doljanchi to the imperial family upon her marriage to Emperor José Manuel. Since Emperor Fernando’s doljanchi in 1937, almost every member of the imperial family has also had one. Unlike other holidays, banquets are not held for Chuseok. Instead, smaller family dinners/potlucks are held in the family’s summer palaces, and they also get the chance to speak to their extended family in Korea.

The family’s main residence—Chapultepec Castle—is lit up with colored lights for various occasions. Some of those occasions include Independence Day, the birthdays of members of the imperial family, the births of members of the imperial family, and coronations. The lighting of Chapultepec Castle was introduced by Empress Catalina-Beatriz and started after the birth of Empress Victoria in 1967, and it has been done ever since.

Other traditions include the public lighting of the Christmas tree in front of Chapultepec Castle, and the ringing of the Catedral Metropolitana bells once an imperial baby has been born and during an imperial wedding.

The title of Prince/Princess of Tijuana is a title given to the heirs to the throne of Mexico. It was created in the early 1900s by Emperor Alphons as an 18th birthday gift for his eldest son, the future Emperor Gustavo. Since then, there have been five Princes of Tijuana and two Princesses of Tijuana. The title of Duke/Duchess of Bourbon-Perez is a title given to the current monarch and their spouse, and it was created by Dowager Empress Consuelo Teresa upon her eldest son’s ascension to the imperial throne. The title of Earl/Countess of Bourbon-Perez was created by Emperor Fernando upon his eldest daughter’s marriage in 1988.

Upon Victoria's ascension to the Mexican throne, Prince Alejandro—Jacqueline’s older brother—became the new crown prince of Mexico, and he also received the titles of Prince of Tijuana (a title given to the heirs to the imperial throne) and Earl of Bourbon-Perez. Jacqueline also moved up a spot in the line of succession, going from fourth to third.

Most of the members of the imperial family have married/have been engaged to people with noble/aristocratic titles. Only five members have not done so, with those being: Emperor José Manuel, who married Yoo Hyeryun, a Korean woman hailing from a middle class family, Crown Prince Alejandro, who got engaged to Vivienne Young, a woman hailing from an old moneyed Peranakan family, Princess Isabel, who married Stephanos Alexander Onasis, a Greek commoner, Prince Maximilliano, Emperor Fernando’s younger brother, who married Bianca Rosalia Rodriguez, a Cuban commoner, and Princess Alejandra of Spain, who married Hernando Enrique Torres, an Ecuadorian commoner hailing from a wealthy oil family.

The Mexican imperial family has a total of 19 residences. They have nine residences in Mexico, and 10 residences in other countries (such as Cuba, the United Kingdom, and Spain).

My new apartment currently resembled the aftermath of a B and E. Moving boxes were strewn everywhere, various pieces of Ikea furniture were left half assembled, and I was panicking. Asking for help had never been an issue for me before – I wasn’t much of a prideful person.

However, asking for help from my best friends Taehyung and Jimin had been harder than forcing myself to go to the gym. My reluctance to ask them over wasn’t that I didn’t like them. In fact, I had the opposite problem.

I loved them, and those feelings were so fucking confusing.

It wasn’t that I was too much of a little bitch to tell either of them how I felt; it was that I was too much of a little bitch to tell them both how I felt.

I loved Jimin. And I loved Taehyung. Equally.

You don’t even know how many hours I spent scouring the internet for any semblance of an explanation for how I felt.

Basically, I came to a couple conclusions:

1) I was into polyamory:

Polyamory is the practice of, or desire for, intimate relationships with more than one partner, with the consent of all partners involved. It has been described as "consensual, ethical, and responsible non-monogamy".

2) Some pretty badass women like Olive Byrne were polyamorous:

Olive Byrne was a polyamorous life partner of William and Elizabeth Marston and has been credited as an inspiration for Wonder Woman.

And now I was at an impasse – tell the boys and potentially ruin our friendship or never take the chance and stay firmly in the friend-zone.

Basically, I had chosen to do neither and avoid them for the past couple weeks like a fucking coward instead.

The doorbell sounded and shook me from my mini pity party. Time to face the music, I thought as I plastered a forced smile on my face. I opened the door and immediately was pulled into a hug by Jimin.

He spun me around, squeezing me tightly, “I missed you so fucking much, (y/n)!” My forced smile turned real as I felt his warmth around me.

“Stop hogging her, Jimin,” Taehyung said derisively as he stretched his arms out to me.

I wiggled out of Jimin’s hold and into Taehyung’s arms. He smelled like autumn – a heady mix of wood, spice and musk.

I noticed Jimin pouting over Taehyung’s shoulder and I couldn’t help but grin.

Reluctantly extracting myself from Taehyung’s hold, I was still smiling, “Thanks for coming over to help me. I’ve barely made a dent unpacking.”

“That’s what friends are for,” Jimin threw an arm around my shoulders – crushing both my neck and my feelings – while he and Taehyung shared a furtive glance, “Besides, we haven’t seen you for ages.”

“Right,” I mumbled and tried to shake it off the friend-zone comment, “Okay, well I think it’s best we start with the bedroom because I cannot sleep on an air mattress for a fourth night.”

A pregnant pause crackling with tension arose. My eyes darted between the boys who seemed to be having one of their infuriatingly cryptic telepathic conversations.

“You’ve been sleeping on an air mattress this whole time?”

Uh-oh. I knew Taehyung’s angry voice and he just used it.

“Yes…” I backed up as I noticed the boys had suddenly moved all up in my space.

“And you didn’t tell us because…”

Yup, there was Jimin’s angry voice. I was screwed. “Because I didn’t think it was a big deal?” I responded, confused as to why they were making such a fuss over a damn air mattress.

“Not a big deal,” Taehyung hissed and stalked off towards my bedroom, “I can’t do it, Jimin. Talk to her.”

I stared open-mouthed at Taehyung’s back as he exited the living room and made his way towards my room at the end of the hall. What the hell was going on here?

“What the hell is going on here?”

Jimin ignored my perfectly valid question, “You don’t think your health is a big deal? You shouldn’t be sleeping on an air mattress when there are perfectly good beds at me and Tae’s.”

“My health? It’s a fricking air mattress, not a pile of sticks, Jimin! Last time I checked, air mattresses were made for sleeping!”

He continued to ignore me, “You need to take care of yourself, (y/n).”

“You’re not my fucking father or boyfriend, Jimin. I don’t need a lecture.”

“Believe me, I know,” Jimin said darkly and turned away from me, heading in the direction Taehyung disappeared to. And I swore I heard him mutter, “Fuck a lecture, she needs a spanking.”

I stay rooted in my place against the wall and wondered what the actual fuck just happened.

Taehyung calling my name jolted me out of my reverie, “(y/n)? What’s this?”

“What’s what?” I asked, heading towards my room to see what he was asking about.

Oh god, what if he found my unopened stash of condoms?

My speed increased tenfold as I practically ran down the hall. Entering my room, I saw Taehyung staring down at a weird-looking mirror I hadn’t seen before.

“Where did you find that?” I question as Taehyung continues to look down at the mirror as if in a trance.

“Bro? You good?” Jimin asked as we exchanged a concerned look.

Taehyung slowly lifted his head up – his eyes closed; his mouth twisted into a smirk. “Never better,” his answering voice sent shivers down my spine. I opened my mouth to question his suddenly deepened tone when Taehyung opened his eyes.

Gone were the hazel eyes I loved so much and gone were any traces of light or reflection.

There was only darkness.

“Taehyung, what the fuck?” Jimin yelled and pulled me behind him.

“What?” Taehyung cocked his head slowly to the side, “What’s wrong?”

I gaped at Taehyung, “Your eyes…”

“…They’re black,” Jimin finished for me.

Tae’s answering grin was almost as alarming as his fucking black eyes as he peered into the strange mirror again, “Well, what do you know… they are.”

“Why aren’t you freaking the fuck out, Tae?” Jimin continued to shout at him as he moved to grab the mirror from him, “What the fuck is this shit?”

“Here,” Taehyung thrusted the mirror at Jimin, “Look.”

Jimin snatched the mirror from Taehyung and inspected the back of it. I looked over his shoulder, noticing the symbols etched upon its surface. They looked familiar.

Where had I seen them before?

As I wracked my brain, Jimin adjusted his grip on the mirror and its handle came into view. I was staring, completely horrified at its marking of an upside-down cross, when Jimin flipped over the mirror.

“No, don’t—!” My scared protest sounded too late, as I watched in terror as Jimin gazed into the mirror just like Taehyung had minutes before.

“Fucking dumbass,” I groaned. Clearly, the mirror had some kind of curse and Jimin had walked right into it.

Taehyung chuckled amusedly at my obvious distress and turned to his friend, “Feel that power, Jimin?”

Jimin glanced up at Taehyung with now-matching black eyes and leisurely rolled his neck, cracking it, “Oh, fuck yeah.”

My ‘fuck this shit’ meter hit level one million as both boys turned their heads to face me.

“Uh,” I backed up, “I’m gonna go… Feel free to show yourselves out.”

“Now, wait just a second, columba,” the foreign word flowed unnaturally easily from Jimin’s mouth.

Speaking yet another language? That was a big no from me, dog.

I took off.

“Come on, (y/n), don’t run from us,” Taehyung taunted as I ran out my door at full speed. Racing down the stairs and across the apartment lobby, I rushed outside. I could hear them calling my name behind me, “Columba, you know we’ll find you.”

Jimin’s teasing voice urged me to run faster. I knew they had to be fucking with me at this point. They worked out on the daily while I only worked out when hustling to meet my Postmates at the door.

I weaved between pedestrians and made the split-second decision to duck inside the local art museum.

Pushing through the doors, I quickly pivoted to the exhibit on the left – the sculpture hall. I careened to a halt behind a massive sculpture of Galileo and fought to catch my breath.

Had I actually lost them?

A spark of hope bloomed in my chest.

And subsequently died when I heard a whistled tune echoing from the exhibit entrance. Were they seriously harmonizing their whistles to “Jopping”?

Maybe they weren’t completely evil?

“Found you, columba,” Taehyung whispered in my ear – entirely too close for me. I opened my mouth to scream, but his palm covered my mouth, “Shh, this is an art museum, (y/n). It requires you to be quiet. And so do I.”

My eyebrows knitted together as I glared defiantly into his blackened eyes. 

Fuck that noise. 

Cursed or not, I didn’t take orders from assholes.

Taehyung noticed my thunderous expression and smiled hugely, “We love how feisty you are, columba. We want you to be our third.”

He looked at me expectantly. I rolled my eyes at his idiocy and stared at him pointedly.

“Oh,” Taehyung grinned sheepishly, removing his hand, “My bad.”

“Your bad,” I seethed, “Your fucking bad? Who the hell do you think you are?” 

He opened his mouth to respond but I plowed ahead, “That was a rhetorical question, you buffoon. Now listen up: I don’t know what exactly is going on here, but I do know that I’m not vibing with the whole cursed black eyes and new language thing.”

“Ah, Tae, you found her,” Jimin chose the absolute wrong time to interrupt. As I level my glare towards him, he actually flinched back.

“Great,” I laugh, “You’re both here. Now can one of you press your last two working braincells together and give me an explanation?”

“We want you as our third,” Jimin said, as if that explained it all.

“I’m sorry,” I said, “I don’t speak demon.”

The boys snickered. “Yeah, the mirror chose wisely,” Taehyung told Jimin.

“Hello?” I waved my hand in between their faces, “I’m right here, boys.”

They turned to face me together. “We know,” Jimin said, prowling towards me.

“Yes,” Taehyung agreed, cornering me in from the other side, “We definitely know.”

“To be our third means that you’d complete our triad,” Jimin trailed his hand down my cheek, “Me, you, and Taehyung.”

“We know how you feel about us, columba,” Taehyung murmured from my other side as my back pressed further into the foot of the sculpture behind us.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I entered full deflective mode, “We’re friends – at least we were. Jury’s out right now.”

“Friends don’t want to fuck each other, (y/n).”

I choked on air at Jimin’s comment.

“You really should clear your search history,” Taehyung whispered into my neck, before giving it a nip.

I felt the blood drain from my face, “Search history?”

“’What is polyamory?’” Jimin ticked off a finger.

Okay, I could explain that search as innocent curiosity.

“’How to approach a polyamorous relationship’,” Taehyung continued and held up a second finger.

Again, I could probably play the innocence card.

“And, my personal favorite, ‘Is it wrong to fuck two friends at the same time?’” Jimin victoriously waves three fingers in the air.

Fuck. I forgot about that one.

I wracked my brain for excuses and came up with nothing. My shoulders slumped, “What do you want me to say? That I love both of you? That it’s embarrassing to admit? That I’ve been terrified to tell you? Take your pick!”

The boys looked at each other briefly and then back at me. “We’ve loved you since the day we met,” Jimin leaned in to kiss my cheek.

Taehyung pressed his mouth to my other cheek, and I could feel his lips moving against it as he added, “It’s true. We’ve been wanting to share you in every way since then.”

I was speechless – both from their proximity and their words.

“Look at her, Jimin. She’s gone quiet. Columba… Our little dove…” Taehyung trailed off, moving his mouth over mine and kissing me.

My body felt like it was on fire. My lips parted in a gasp and Taehyung took advantage, his tongue sliding across my own with a such a sensual slowness that my back arched against the statue’s pedestal behind me.

His hands travelled down the sides of my neck and stay there, gripping my throat lightly in his fingers as he works his tongue against mine.

“Be our third,” Jimin’s whisper sounded from my left, but I couldn’t process anything with Taehyung’s hand on my neck and tongue in my mouth.

Suddenly, Taehyung’s pushed off of me and Jimin slid into his place. “Say yes,” he continued and pressed his lips to mine.

His kiss is completely different than Taehyung’s, fervent but precise. He kisses me like he had been doing so all his life and knew every inch of my body.

Then I felt Taehyung push me off of the statue that I had been using as a crutch and slide into its place behind me. His hands gripped my hips and pulled me back against him, kissing my neck as Jimin continued to dominate my mouth.

“Say yes,” Taehyung echoed Jimin’s earlier plea.

Jimin removed his mouth from mine and smirked at my immediate sound of disappointment.

“Is that a yes, (y/n)?” he asks, raising a brow, his black eyes boring into mine.

I couldn’t speak. Taehyung’s thumbs were tracing patterns on my hips. Jimin trailed a hand up my torso to lightly land on my throat, finding my pulse-point.

This was too much.

On one hand, I knew they were still the boys, deep down. On the other, I had no fucking idea what that mirror had done to them.

But, fuck it – they were still my boys.

“It's a yes,” I said and reveled in Jimin’s beaming grin.

“We’re going to make you so happy you said yes,” came Taehyung’s voice behind me.

“Now, just one more thing,” Jimin reached for something behind his back.

Before I could even comprehend, he had the mirror in front of me. Taehyung’s hands framed my head, forcing it still.

Did Jimin have that thing this whole time? What the fuck?

My eyes were glued to my reflection in the mirror – it was smiling.

I was not.

And then I watched as my eyes turned black.

Can I start by talking about Lucette’s evolution went because

Home girl went from being the most hated on the land to understanding her toxic behavior through her different suitors and coming to the realization her mom was very toxic and growing from that. Truly, poetic cinema at its finest.

Also hi yes, my favorite character (apart from the suitors which ill talk about in a minute) was Delora. Like you cannot tell me she isn't totally Lucette’s adoptive mother. Like, hi? yes? I need some napkins for my teARS. Delora is the mother figure Lucette never had and Lucette represents the daughter Delora had and Hildyr killed and I just.... ugh, my emotions 

Also, is it bad I lowkey wanted a Garlan route?? lmaooo he was so cute with Jurien and I love me some soft shy boys and asdfghhgfds, like I shipped him with Jurien and all but Garlan I luv you too ;w;

Anyways, the boys, I will comment on them from my least favorite to my most favorite, so bare with my screaming as it will become louder and louder, i’ll also include the highlight of some CGs and a song that reminds me of the pairing because I don't have anything better to do aasdfghjhgfd

Rumpel

Lets start with doctor boi. To be honest when I saw the pictures of the guys in the downloading page I thought my favorites would be Rumpel and Waltz (I mean, I got one of those right lmao) because he wears glasses and home girl loves loves lovessss glasses. Then with his first interaction with Lucette It was very meH to be honest. He is just not my type and I would rather have Rumpel as a friend, although he did gave me quite a couple of laughs when he interacted with Karma lol.

His ending cg is brutal tho, his along Rod’s are the most heartbreaking ending CG’s (even though his ending in of itself wasn't the worst in my opinion because I wasn't too attached to him).

Anyways in short, Rumpel, flirty doctor boi. with good heart even though you roll your eyes at half the things he says xD

Oh boi, baby Boy Fritz. The only reason why Fritz isn't higher is because throughout his route I felt like I don't get to know much about Fritz in of itself but rather Varg, but the little we get to see Fritz I find adorable. He was one of the routes I was most excited on playing because he was adorable in the other routes, always looking out to protect Lucette and he always did <33

And Varg. To be completely honest I kinda liked him at the beginning but not much, the moment I trully fell for him was at the end when he gave up himself to let Fritz be with Lucette. Boooooi that scene where he says Fritz would never deserve her but he still wants her to be happy asdfghj broke me. 

Like in the end even though I liked Fritz and Varg individually a lot, I feel like there wasn't enough time with either to come on higher in the list and thats the only reason why he is number 4, but I still love them very much ;w;

Also like, the good ending?? its like the saddest one?? I mean yeah, they got to be together and what not but my home girl Delora dies?? and Parfait?? no magic? hello? I cried so much? asdfghjkl Truly the most angsty ending by far and I just..... Can they be happy pls? </3

Also as a side note, Fritz was the only route I could get all the positive choices at once without having to reload the files and I feel very proud about that lmao bye

Honestly between Rod and Karma it was a tough choice, and I think I could say they were fairly tie with one another, just putting Karma a little higher because his good ending was one of my favorites and Rod’s was kinda sad (well, I mean, I get it, they are step brothers so they cant be publicly involved but its still sad ;w;).

Y’all know I live for my tsundere characters and Rod did not disappoint. Not only does he have some of the cutest blushing moments (thx Sebby!) but he and Lucette have such a great dynamic! They understand each other and I think Lucette had one of the best developments in his route, understanding Em and getting her good deeds by growing close to her family was such a cool way for her to become a good person, my queen Lucette is everything in this route.

The bad ending is also super sad and the CG was so heartbreaking. To think if only Lucette would have said that he loved him (which she did) at the end to save him asdfghjkl, my feelings.

Honestly I didn't expect to like Karma that much. I mean, he was nice, he looked playful and I liked the teasing dynamic but I did not expect him to end at my #2 at all. But boi was I in for a ride. Once you get to know Karma? understand him and the reasons he is close off? how he truly doesn't consider anyone loving him as an option to break his curse? uh, um, excuse me to say this but, poetic cinema at its f i n e s t.

God and Karma and Lucette’s dynamic, iconic. He teaches her how to open up and live life, be happy, while she helps him realize he is much more than his looks and how he fell for his personality, god I love them.

Also the good ending was one of my favorites, they were just so comfortable with each other and I cant wait to see their dynamic with their family, its gonna be awesome. His bad ending was in my opinion, one of the worst too. Dying thinking the girl he loves never truly got to love him and see past the beast and just when she realizes he is holding the rose thing that he is Karma and she killed him? brutal

What’s there not to love about Waltz?? he is not only a cute boy who is in love with her best friend, her only family left, and taught her how to become the good kind hearted person he knew she was deep on the inside but he would also give it all for her happiness?? they protect each other?? powerful witch couple?? uh por favorrr

His bad ending broke me, thinking his conscious is ruined thanks to Hildyr and watching the girl he loves become basically a puppet? heartless. And his good ending, their dynamic, everything everything I love Waltz and everyone should know it.

The rope began to hurt his wrists, though his ankles became numb to the constant pricking of the roughness. The ropes little bumps and ridges scratched at Matt, going up and down, sometimes side to side. Being restrained to a chair meant non stop struggling, and the rope had begun to dig into his wrists, and even though Matt couldn’t see his wrists, he bet that they were red with pain, perhaps more red than Matt’s red flushed face from the humidity of the basement.

Even if Matt had been stripped down into nothing, the heat would still feel like as though it was personally choking him. Matt didn’t know if it was the heat or maybe if the wounds scattered across his body began to become infected from neglect, but he began to feel sick. And it was evident through his coughs.

Though the coughs felt more like than just a cough. They felt as though it was killing him slowly, and perhaps it was, but Matt refused to let himself die in a dusty, muggy basement. Especially a basement that didn’t even belong to him or a friend. The coughs only progressively got worse though, the outcome transitioning from nothing to blood. It was always blood, never anything else.

Matt refused to look at the small blood patches surrounding him. He knew it was there, and he knew it was from him, but the look of it made the coughs return. The smell was bad enough, but the look of the dried, and recent blood combined only made it worse.

Matt’s only release from everything was when he would pass out from lack of food, or when night fell, and he would be left alone to sleep for the next round of abuse. Though sometimes, his captor liked to interfere with Matt’s temporary feeling of freedom.

Sometimes, Matt’s captor makes Matt sick. But Matt would rather die than be sick.

The cold water splashed onto Matt, the water, although a refreshing feeling from the constant heat Matt felt, was still a shock, and it stung into Matt’s fresh scars from his captor’s lovely session of torture earlier in the day.

“Ah-!” Matt gasped, the pain and shock combining into a sound. Matt gasped for air as the water dripped from his hair, and began to cough, already feeling something build in his throat. “F-fuck!”

Matt coughed, the blood falling from his mouth and landing onto the floor with a soft splat.

“Disgusting.” The man that towered over him laughed, throwing the once water filled bucket off to the side. He moved slowly as he stood off to the side of Matt, narrowing his eyes when he saw another blood patch fall to the ground. Fitz scoffed as Matt’s coughs continued. A sly smirk played onto his face. “Hmph, look at you. Weak, puny, dying.”

“N-no!” Matt choked out, spitting the blood out from his mouth. The blood ran down his lip as he weakly glared at Fitz, the fighting spirit in his eyes beginning to stir again. “I-I’m not-”

Matt’s head dropped down as another coughing fit began, his throat beginning to ache as blood clogged up, feeling like it only moved a centimeter each hack he had. The blood came out in pieces, landing in the water coloring it red. Matt felt like passing out from the coughing fit, but his attention was focused on Fitz who smiled smugly at him.

“I-I’m not dying..”

“You so sure about that?” Fitz asked as if to mock Matt’s statement. He laid his hands softly onto Matt’s shoulders, holding it with a wicked grin. “You’ve been coughing blood for how long now? 3, 4 days? Oh! And how long has those wounds been on you? 6, or maybe a whole week?”

“No-”

“Oh Matt, how will you ever get better after this? Normal medicine won’t do..” Fitz said, looking at Matt who turned his head to the side to avoid his gaze. “Good thing I don’t use normal medicine.”

Matt’s eyes became alert and his head whipped around to look at Fitz. Fitz smirked at him and brought his hand behind him, pulling out a bottle of white pills. Matt’s tough persona broke, and he shook his head, lowering it, and feeling himself begin to break down. Fitz chuckled, and rattled the bottle as he circled Matt and stopped in front of him, looking at Matt’s lowered yet almost still head. The tears fell onto Matt’s already wet shirt, and FItz rolled his eyes.

“Stop crying, you fucking child.” Fitz grabbed a handful of Matt’s hair and pulled it up, forcing Matt to look at him. Fitz’s face scrunched up as Matt looked.at him tearfully. Matt snarled and glared at Fitz, who growled back. “God, you’re disgusting. Good thing I’m getting rid of you.”

Fitz opened the bottle, and took out a few looking at Matt who stared at the pills with fear. The white pills looked as though they were glowing in Fitz’s hand under the moonlight. The rest of the pills were thrown off to the side, close to where the bucket lay.

Fitz approached Matt, and time seemed to move slow, as if to torture Matt in what might be his last day alive. Matt stared at Fitz through half-lidded eyes, who stared at him back. Fitz managed to catch him off guard and grabbed Matt’s hair quickly, and pulled it again, Matt’s mouth hanging loose to which Fitz used to his advantage and dropped the pills in. Matt instantly tried to spit them out, but failed when Fitz clamped a hand over his mouth.

“Mm- mh!” Matt shook his head, trying to remove Fitz’s hand from his mouth. Fitz grabbed the back of Matt’s head and held him still, smiling as Matt’s half-lidded eyes turned wide eyed with panic. “Mmm!”

“If you swallow it, this’ll be over so much quicker.” Fitz said, tightening his grip on Matt’s head. Matt shook his head, but complied when Fitz began to crush his hands together.

Matt closed his eyes as he forced himself to slowly swallow the half dissolved pills, having to also swallow the bitter and gross saliva pool in his mouth. Matt opened his eyes and glared at Fitz when finished, but he folded when a sharp and sudden pain hit his stomach. Fitz let go of Matt and watched as Matt twitched with pain.

Matt breathed heavily and looked at Fitz, who smiled cheerfully at him. Matt lurched forward, and cried out in agony as the pain continued.

“D-damnit..” Matt heaved, dropping his head as the pain disappeared and reappeared. “F-fuck you!”

“Aw, what's wrong? Are you sick?” Fitz laughed, glancing back at the bottle of pills. He smiled and turned back to Matt “If you’d like, I can give you more.”

“N-no!” Matt writhed with pain, feeling it beginning to throb, as if it had a mind of it’s own and knew Matt hated it. “Please, no!”

Fitz cackled and stepped away from the view in front of him. Matt’s poor attempt at trying to stop the pain ended with the rope on his wrists digging deeper into him. Matt didn't know what to do, but all he felt was an extreme pain that seemed to spread all across his body. Matt wished he could scream, but his throat was clogged with blood and saliva, only letting whimpers and chokes out.

Fitz held Matt's head softly, trying to stop himself from laughing as Matt shook.

"Ah, don't worry Matt, by this night you should be dead." Fitz proudly announced to him, pulling away from him and walking to the door. "Keep coughin' Matt, because if you're not dead by tonight, then I'll kill you myself."

Fitz revealed a metal bat that rest just behind the thick wooden door frame, and tapped it on the floor, letting it echo, and sound over Matt's pained whines. He took one last glance at the soon to be corpse, and smirked at what he has made of Matt.

The door slammed shut, and Matt knew it was the last time he would hear it, thank god, because Matt could already feel himself slipping from consciousness.

Matt smiled weakly and looked at the door.

"I'll see you, Cam.." Matt murmured, dropping his head, letting the pain overtake him as his breathing slowed. "I'll see..you.."

So one day you’re standing at your locker picking up your things before leaving school

Over the next few days before prom your friend group has received an abundance of promposals.

One of your friends had a red carpet rolled out for her. Roses handed to her along the way. Big sign.

Another friend had a song written and performed for her.

You just stood by and watched with a small smile on your face.

Shownu notices bc he’s very observative

And he makes a plan.

He’s going to prompose to you

It’s literally the day before prom, a friday.

One of Shownu’s friends, Kihyun, is leading you to some undisclosed location blindfolded

“If I end up dead the whole world will know it was you because I don’t know anyone else with a tie that has the notes to their own song on it.”

“Jokes on you, Wonho has one too.”

“I-,,,,,,I’m not even gonna ask”

“We’re here!”

You feel Kihyun mess with the back of the blindfold (tie really) and soon enough it falls off of your face

“Pr,,,mo!”

Shownu obviously sees the look of confusion on your face and looks down the line

“Changkyun! Jooheon! You’re in the wrong order! And Minhyuk it’s supposed to be a question mark!”

Changkyun and Jooheon merely look at each other and shrug

“I had to run here from my student council meeting sue me for wanting excitement and stability in my life rather than uncertainty!”

“You guys ruined my promposal!”

Shownu is about to apologize to you but you’re,,,,,,,,,laughing

“This is honestly the best promposal ever. Look at Jooheon and Changkyun’s tummies!!! Not to mention McMuscles over here you and Wonho are literally McDreamy and McSteamy. Then there’s,,,,,Minhyuk. Keep up the good work buddy!”

“Does that mean I still have a chance?”

“Shownu I already said yes to going to prom with you I’m not changing my mind now.”

“Oh god that’s good.”

And you guys kind of hug like a little bit closer and maybe touchier than usual

“Wait,,am I McDreamy or McSteamy?”

“If you were really my best friend you would do this for me.”

“ Uh Uh, don’t you pull the best friend card on me Wonho.”

“I’m just saying…”

“Last week I let you borrow my car to take your little girlfriend out on a date. And you nearly crashed it!”

“I knew I shouldn’t have told you about that. Come on please! I’ll even pay for your ticket.”

“Hmm,,,,,I’m interested now.”

“...and pay for dinner?”

“I’m sold.”

“Great. All you really have to do is accept my promposal in front of the entire school and make it believable.”

“I’m sure you of all people know how great I am at acting. We DID meet in theater club where we played the lead roles in 3, soon to be 4 consecutive plays.”

“Ah yes, you were my first kiss scene and my first death scene.”

“And don’t you forget it!”

“So tomorrow. School assembly. After my student body president speech. Don’t worry about a thing.”

“Wait, you already had this planned? How did you know I was going to s-”

Wonho begins turning down the school hallway to his class while you walk straight

“You’re my best friend I knew you’d help me out!”

That’s the last thing he says before disappearing into a classroom

Wonho is your best friend.

You met in theater club freshman year

Between practicing kissing (for scenes of  course), memorizing lines, and becoming comfortable around each other you just grew very close

Although this did leave you in hot water with his on and off girlfriend Mina it didn’t really affect your relationship

You starred as the lead roles in the theater clubs major productions every year, leaving the smaller works to other students of course.

But with your senior years production under way and Wonho spending most of his time rehearsing with you, his girlfriend Mina had had enough

She broke up with him,,,,,,,,,again

And his genius plan involved making her jealous

Prom was in two weeks

Wonho was going to ‘prompose’ to you at the school assembly but you had your friend date Jooheon and you would fill him in on everything later

So its assembly day and Wonho is just about to wrap up his speech

He’s a very charismatic guy you know so the entire student body swoons when the lights begin to dim and a video pops up on the projector screen

The screen flashes a whole bunch of short video clips sped up

‘Prom?’ flashes a couple of times and then the video clips slow down

It’s a bunch of off guard videos of you??

Videos of scenes from the plays you and Wonho have been in

Your favorite song is playing in the background

There are videos of the two of you taken by the other guys

You tear up a little bit,,,,,,,,,,,,in a fake way?

It’s a really really cute video, this wasn’t even acting you were actually surprised.

Suddenly there’s a spotlight on you.

And Wonho is running off stage with a bouquet of flowers

This is it.

This is the moment that Wonho told you to prepare for

You have an insanely shocked look on your face as he finally makes his way up the steps

Good thing you were sitting on the end of the row

So Wonho just kinda gets? Down? On? One? Knee?

Does he know this is just a PROMposal not a REAL proposal

“Y/N, you were by my side at my lowest point when I split my pants on stage will you be by my side when I’m at my best at prom?”

WONHO PULLS OUT A DAMN RING POP HOW MUCH CHEESIER CAN THIS GET

“Of course, Wonho. I’d love to be your prom date.”

Insert a series of ‘aww’ and ‘why didn’t you ask me to prom like that?’ or other variations of course

But out of all the aww and everything you hear the one scoff from the crowd

Wonho’s ex, Mina, is sitting in the row behind you

Wonho must have noticed her too

Because the next thing you know WONHO’S GOT HIS BABY SOFT LIPS ON YOURS

And you kiss him back,,,,,surprisingly quick

It wasn’t weird to do this?

You knew Wonho’s lips like the back of your hand.

You rehearsed this dozens of times

But this times its kinda different because he’s got one hand on the small of your back and the other one is cupping your face and your arms have magically wrapped around his neck and wow wow wow

MINA IS FUMING

THAT IS HER MAN

She pretty much yanks him away from you like no joke

And you have to admit you’re upset

But also kinda happy bc this is what Wonho wanted

Wonho would be happy

The same Wonho that you were HOPELESSLY IN LOVE WITH

The entire student body is waiting for a catfight

But that doesn’t happen

Because Wonho grabs your hand?

And he very politely tells Mina to keep her hands off of him

And the lil sob story he gave you was just that- a story

He wasn’t feeling it with Mina anymore

There was always something a little more than on stage chemistry between the two of you and he finally worked up the courage to build on it

Minhyuk had a whole ass crush on you, like it was very obvious.

Everyone knew it.

Your friends, his friends, the teachers at your school, probably the workers at the cafe that you guys always went to when you were walking home.

Everyone.

Except you lol

So when prom was coming up, people kept asking him if he was going to ask you.

He wasn’t even going to because you seemed like you didn’t like him like that.

But also, you were kind of really hoping that he would ask you but you weren’t very sure if he liked you like that.

(You weren’t….the best at noticing all the times he looked at you like you were the sun but it was chill)

It was only when your friends and his friends collaborated and told him that yeah you very much liked him and you were just very bad at hinting at it did he decide to ask you to prom.

But now he was very pressured to make sure he asked you in the best way possible.

He just didn’t know like,,,,how to do it.

He could go the cliche route that’s in movies.

You know the whole make a sign with a corny phrase.

Or a scavenger hunt that leads to the beach where his promposal is written in rocks placed strategically on the sand.

He looked online for ideas, and even asked friends for advice.

But suddenly prom was three weeks away and HE STILL HADN’T ASKED YOU.

A lot of people have asked you, and he was actually there for most of them since you guys always were together.

You didn’t see his sigh of relief whenever you rejected them.

And there was some...really good promposals too.

Someone found your favorite chocolates and just gave them to you.

One person did a whole musical number just to ask you out.

But you weren’t interested in any of them.

As time went by, you kind of numbed to the idea of prom.

Like it wasn’t a big deal if you didn’t go.

You didn’t actually see the big deal with prom anyway.

There was just a tiny bit of you that hoped Minhyuk would ask you and that maybe it’d be fun with him.

He wasn’t asking though so….

One day, after Prom Rejection #20, you two were walking home like you always did.

Rejecting prom dates have started to become sad for you because after each one Minhyuk still didn’t ask you.

He had sensed you were a little down, so he was trying to cheer you up.

The boy even bought you ice cream. Like what a sweetie pie.

Anyway, you guys were walking and the sun was setting, so it was vvvvv aesthetically pleasing.

You guys were joking around and he was trying to eat your ice cream and he finally succeeded after he had locked his arm with yours and leaned over.

You had pouted and he just laughed, offering his own ice cream.

After  a while, it had gone silent and you two were just walking when suddenly

“Hey, Y/N. Why do you keep rejecting everyone?”

He didn’t know what he wanted to hear, but he still asked it

“Oh. I just don’t wanna go to prom”

You said it so nonchalantly, but he was kind of very heartbroken?

Like he saw this as if he were to ask he was gonna get rejected to.

He wasn’t good at changing subjects though so he just kind of stayed silent and kept walking.

“What? What’s wrong?”

You stopped in your midst bc now HE  was upset and he helped you so now you gotta help him.

“Oh I..It’s nothing,” Minhyuk gave you a huge smile but you were not convinced.

You just kinda stood there with a worried expression.

“It’s just,” he finally sighed, “I was going to ask you to prom, but—”

“Wait you were?”

“Uh...yeah but if you don’t—”

“Yeah I’ll go to prom with you.”

He was taken aback by that like????

Everyone was going to the extremes???

And he had just mentioned it??????

“You— You will?”

“Yeah. I thought you weren’t going to ask so I didn’t wanna go,” you shrugged.

Minhyuk is vvv ?????

“I...rejected everyone because I didn’t want to go with them. I wanted to go with you. But I didn’t know if you felt the same.”

“Well...I do!” He was giving you the biggest smile

(It looked like sunshine oh my god)

“Well?” you looked at him, waiting.

“Well?”

“Are you going to ask me or not?”

Minhyuk was grinning from ear to ear.

The girl of the dreams was going to say yes to his promposal.

The setting was perfect.

And he didn’t even have to rent a horse.

“Y/N? Will you go to prom with me?”

“Of course Minhyuk.”

Kihyun,,,,,had been trying to ask you to prom for the longest time.

But like, whenever he’d try you’d just kind of not know?

The ways it would fail got more intense that more he tried to ask.

He gave you a book and said that he really recommended that book to read?

“Oh I already read this book and yeah it’s really good!”

A note asking you?

You lost it.

He went inside your classroom?

You were absent.

He put balloons in your locker????

IT WAS THE WRONG LOCKER

He decided to put a note on your dog’s collar

The dog BIT him

He got desperate and did the whole throwing a ball at you and hoping you caught it.

THE BALL HIT YOU IN THE FACE AND THEN RICOCHETED, BREAKING A WINDOW.

Yeah he was a whole ass mess.

It’s okay his friends were also huge ass messes that ruined most of his promposals.

At some point he tried to be original and when you and a group of friends went to a nearby theme park, he was going to ask you at the go karts.

Jooheon forgot and hit him so hard he just spun out of control so all you heard was high pitched screaming.

Wonho fell on the cake that Kihyun made for you.

Changkyun ate the SECOND cake.

Minhyuk forgot that Kihyun canceled the beach promposal because he thought it was tacky and everyone leFT HIM AT THE BEACH WITH 5 POUNDS OF ROCKS.

Shownu was in charge of flowers to give to you but he misinterpreted and he gave you FLOUR. You were very confused. He never gave you an explanation.

Hyungwon was literally the only one that didn’t do anything and that’s because he was dealing with his own failed promposal.

Finally, a few days before prom, Kihyun was exhausted.

EVERYTHING HE EVER DID F A I L E D

Like what he gonna do now?

Thankfully, you were SUPER oblivious that you also didn’t know that other guys were asking you to prom.

You have a dress and everything, but you just didn’t have a date.

You didn’t really care if you had one.

You kinda wanted to go with Kihyun honestly.

But you also didn’t notice the entire time that he was asking you so….

Anyway, Kihyun finally just gave up.

Like, it was too late.

You probably already had your prom planned.

Maybe this was just your way of saying you wanted to be friends.

HIS FRIENDS WERE NOT HAVING IT.

They kinda knew that yikes they probably had some part of you never actually knowing, so they decided that there would be one huge ask by all of them.

Kihyun,,,was not aware of this.

So you and Kihyun were just hanging out you know, things that friends do.

It was after school and you and Wonho were people’s rides home so like you had to wait for everyone to show up.

But when they showed up,,,,they had flowers?

Kihyun first thought that one of them was going to ask you and got kinda mad because most of them already had dates and Changkyun has a girlfriend.

He looked extremely irritated but then Wonho started talking.

“So, Kihyun failed at asking you to prom.”

“Like 30 times.”

Minhyuk continued.

And you’re very confused????

Like when did he ask you to prom??

You even turned and asked him.

“You asked me to prom???”

Kihyun caught on to what was happening a little, but was also kinda surprised that you didn’t know.

“I’ve been trying to yeah but it never worked out.”

“When???”

“Well there was the book, I tried to use your dog, I threw a ball at you once, I made two cakes.”

Kihyun kept listing all the things he tried to do and you only had like vague memories of them?

Like you remember the book, and the time he hit you in the face with a ball, and that one time he tried to talk to you while you were on go karts.

But it never really hit you???

“Hey we’re in the middle of a promposal here”

Hyungwon interrupted you two.

“Right, sorry.”

You turned your attention back to them.

“Anyway, as we were saying. Kihyun obviously couldn’t do it. So we’re going to do it for him.”

Hyungwon continued their obviously practiced speech.

They made their way down a line (It was Wonho, Hyungwon, Shownu, Minhyuk, Changkyun, and then Jooheon) and said their parts.

“Y/N?”

“Will”

“You”

“Go to”

“Prom”

“With Kihyun?”

You turned to Kihyun who looked equally surprised, but he got over it quickly.

“Well? Will you?”

He was smiling at you and it was the most precious smile ever like wow who could say no to that.

Not you!

“Yes, Kihyun I’d love to go to prom with you!”

Kihyun looked so happy when he gave you a hug like this boy deserved it.

The lengths he went through just to get you to go to prom with him wow.

Then it just kinda hit you.

“Wait is that why Shownu gave me flour?!”

Shownu gave you a thumbs up.

So Jooheon had a set plan.

He was going to do a little scavenger hunt and it would lead to his house where he’d ask you to prom.

Some of the boys had to be like checkpoints and clue givers and some had to help Jooheon decorate the front of his house while you looked.

He would probably be in a tux, to make it look more fancy.

Of course,,,,,that cost money,,,,

He did not want to ask until he had enough money to pay for everything.

So he took extra shifts at his job and set aside money.

He was a pizza delivery guy and he tried his best to be the best pizza delivery guy so he could get good tips.

It was working pretty well.

He got to houses early (probably by speeding) and people appreciated that.

Sure he might have destroyed a couple pizzas.

It’s fine they were still eatable.

He was working one last shift that would probably give him enough money to buy everything needed for the promposal and prom itself.

(He calculated everything so that he wouldn’t be asking you to prom one week before like some other guys)

And suddenly the phone rang and he was in front so he answered.

“Hello?”

“JOOHEON IT’S CHANGKYUN.”

“Changkyun? Why are you yelling?”

“KIHYUN’S DRIVING LIKE A MANIAC AND EVERYONE IS IN ONE CAR SO IT’S LOUD.”

“Okay but why are you calling?”

“WE HEARD THAT THIS GUY IS GOING TO ASK Y/N TO PROM TONIGHT AT HER HOUSE SO WE’RE RUSHING OVER TO GIVE YOU MORE TIME.”

“Wait WHAT”

“WE HAVE TO CANCEL THE SCAVENGER HUNT AND YOU GOTTA ASK TONIGHT BEFORE THIS GUY DOES.”

“How am I supposed to come up with a plan right this sec— I GOT IT.”

“OKAY YOU DO THAT WE’RE GOING TO CRASH THE CAR IN HER HOUSE”

Jooheon could hear Kihyun faintly shouting “No!” in the background.

When he hung up, he immediately ran into the kitchen.

Everyone that was working there knew he was working more to ask you to prom tbh.

So when he ran in and said there was an emergency regarding prom they just kind of accepted it?

He told everyone the alternate plan that had to happen that second and everyone just kinda stepped aside and let him work.

His big plan was to make you a pizza with “Prom?” spelled on it with sausage.

Your house was fairly close to his work so that wasn’t a problem.

It was actually making the pizza and baking it before the guy asked you.

He was certain the guys could stall enough.

But also he was not certain the guys wouldn’t wreak havoc while stalling.

Anyway, he made the pizza and impatiently waited while it baked.

Once that pizza was out the oven, he put it in the box, scribbled something, and then rushed out while his coworkers were wishing him luck.

He’s pretty sure that he drove through around 3 red lights just rushing to your house.

He made it in like 5 minutes though so it was worth it.

But then,,,,he saw that,,,Kihyun’s car,,,,was parked on your front lawn????

He also saw another car parked in front of your house and his heart started racing.

He practically sprinted to your front door and rang the doorbell.

When the door opened, his heart dropped when he saw that it was Minhyuk.

“Am I too late???”

“No, no you’re just in time. The guy just got here.”

“Who’s at the door?”

He heard you spoke and he suddenly got super nervous.

Like he wasn’t nervous when Changkyun called, or when he was making the pizza, or running 3 red lights, but suddenly it kinda hit him that he was asking you to prom.

“Uhhhh pizza”

“I didn’t order pizza!”

“Changkyun did.”

“Actually yeah I did, but then I forgot my wallet. Do you think you could—”

“Fine I’ll pay for your stupid pizza that you had delivered to my house.”

Your voice got closer and closer and Jooheon got more and more nervous.

“Jooheon?”

And then there you were!

Jooheon almost blanked like for a split second he completely forgot he was holding pizza and was supposed to ask you to prom.

“Uhhhhh….hi….”

Jooheon saw the boys look disappointed behind you.

“Hi? Changkyun ordered pizza and requested you as the delivery guy again huh?”

You were joking, getting money out your wallet.

“Wait no. This one’s on me,”

Jooheon suddenly remembered that he had a task to do! He could see the other guy impatiently waiting and he was not going to let HIM ask you to prom.

“You drove here to give me free pizza? That’s true friendship right there wow.”

“Well, actually I had a question.”

You were very confused.

Like what does he mean he drove all the way there with free pizza to ask a question????? Couldn’t he have texted it or something????

The guy caught on and went to go hurry but the boys are very very very good at stalling.

(Changkyun tripped him lol)

Jooheon opened the pizza box, looking for your reaction.

“Will you go to prom with me?”

He gave you such a cute smile that you knew that you were blushing intensely.

“Yes of course!”

You didn’t even hesitate, like you damn well knew you wanted to go to prom with Jooheon for weeks.

So the fact that he asked you just made you extremely happy.

And he was so happy, he laughed and went to go hug you before remembering he had the pizza so he stopped himself.

He looked so excited and you were also excited and wow can you believe you’re going to prom with Jooheon???

But something else was bugging you.

“Why did you open the pizza box?”

“Oh bec—”

He looked at the pizza and realized that,,,,,he brought the wrong pizza,,,,and someone else was going to get your prom pizza,,,,,

“I….you still want a free pizza?”

You laughed and agreed to it.

Later on, you learned that the guy didn’t come over for math help but to ask you to prom.

You would have said no anyway.

Looks like Jooheon had nothing to worry about after all.

You and Hyungwon were actually childhood friends yay

You guys were inseparable and remained so until the present.

You were kind of opposites though?

Like he was vvvv lazy and really liked to sleep, and you were very energetic and liked to be on top of things.

But it’s okay, you guys balanced each other out.

You kept him in check so that he wouldn’t sleep for a whole week, and he made sure that you were you know,,,,sleeping.

Of course with a friendship as close as yours, people joked that you two would probably end up together and instead of being awkward about it, you humored them.

When you were kids, you guys even joked that Hyungwon would be the one to take you to prom.

Hyungwon did not forget about that joke tbh

He,,,,had developed a huge crush on you over the years and when prom was coming up he decided that was the perfect time to tell you.

He had it planned.

He didn’t really plan things often, but he knew him planning every single detail would both shock and impress you.

There was going to be a bouquet of your favorite candies, a corny song that he imagined you rolling your eyes to, and then he would ask.

But,,,,he,,,,was too late,,,,

Yeah

The day he was planning to ask you, some guy had already asked you.

And you said yes.

He was vvv salty about that, but he didn’t let you see it.

He smiled, said congratulations, and tried to move on.

When you started to plan with your friends, he sat there and listened as you tried to decide what dress to pick and if you and your date should match.

And then,,,,,your date wanted advice from him,,,,bc Hyungwon is your best friend?????

It was pure torture for him, but hey, he was your best friend, he couldn’t just pretend it wasn’t happening.

So he did help.

He gave advice of floral arrangements for the corsage and boutonniere

(They were flowers that he wanted to give you at prom if you had said yes)

He offered your favorite color as a reference for what you would be looking for

(He had already bought his tie in that color)

Before he knew it, he had planned his perfect prom with you….with some other guy.

Whatever you were going to be happy and that’s what mattered.

He witnessed that for weeks.

At some point he got kind of sick of hearing about it so whenever prom came up, he just excused himself.

You noticed, and always wanted to go check on him, but were always dragged back into planning.

The thing is despite literally telling him your dream prom, the guy just ignored Hyungwon’s advice ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So prom planning wasn’t going smoothly.

Hyungwon didn’t know that though.

Well one day, he was just chilling, laying down, scrolling through his phone

It was about a week before prom

And suddenly there was a knock on his window.

He went over and lo and behold

There you were, in the flesh.

He was used to you just randomly showing up, you did that a couple times a week.

But for some reason, seeing you in an oversized sweater and jeans, crouching in the tree outside his window with a huge grin on your face kind of made his heart hurt

It was weird and he hated it.

He let you in and you immediately started talking, like with no time for him to even say hi.

“Okay so I’ve been thinking right? Have you ever seen a baby pigeon? I haven’t!”

“It’s because they’re ugly Y/N.”

“Don’t talk about my babies like that!

“What’s the rest of that thought?”

“Oh right! Let’s go find baby pigeons!”

“It’s 2 in the morning.”

“So?”

“Y/N…”

It was then he realized that you were trying to distract yourself from something and the baby pigeons were a cover for something.

“Baby pigeons!” You were so excited.

“Y/N what’s wrong?”

“Nothings wrong I just want to see a baby pigeon!”

“You’re not going to see a baby pigeon at this time so what’s wrong?”

You stayed silent but then just sat on his bed.

“The guy I'm going to prom with? Yeah that's cancelled. He called it off so quick and immediately got a new date.”

Hyungwon sat next to you, feeling angry that someone did that to you, but also relieved because he never really liked that guy.

“I'm sorry he did that. But look on the bright side. We know he's a jerk and you dodged a bullet.”

You gave him an unenthusiastic laugh and then just looked sad.

THAT really made his heart hurt.

“I’m going to have to explain to face people now asking what happened and I don’t want that.”

“Then don’t. Refuse to comment and if they don’t then I’ll—”

“Are you going to threaten to beat people up again?”

“--give them a strict talk?”

You just laughed a little and shook your head.

“I’m not even that sad about it. I don’t think I really liked him? I just thought prom was required a date because that’s what we always were told and then it was getting close and he was the only option.”

He kinda felt bad bc he was not an option since he hold off on asking.

“You know it’s weird. Do you remember when we were kids and we said we’d go to prom with each other?”

Hyungwon’s heart skipped a beat because yeah! He really did remember that!

“I thought...this is stupid I know and I don’t know why I’m telling you this….I thought that maybe you were gonna ask me.”

You didn’t look at him since it was a little embarrassing (for you)

And Hyungwon just about flew off the bed.

You were waiting for him to ask and guess what he didn’t do!

Thankfully, he actually never threw away any of the stuff that he was going to give you because he just couldn’t be bothered to throw it away so his bright idea was to ask you to prom right that second

At 2 A.M, after you had just gotten dumped.

“Hyungwon?”

“You weren’t wrong, actually.”

He was,,,reaching for something under his bed? It was the candy bouquet

(Why the candy bouquet was under his bed we will never know)

“I lost my chance and I’m going to keep apologizing for that but—”

“Wait are you really asking me to prom?”

You interrupted him, completely in shock.

“Will you let me finish?.”

“Oh! I’m sorry go on!”

You perked up significantly and it made him laugh a little.

“Y/N...Will you— Oh wait a song is supposed to be playing!”

“What?”

“It’s that song that you hate that always plays on the radio. It was supposed to play in the background.”

You groaned and rolled your eyes.

“Please don’t play it.”

“Fine because you just got cancelled on, I won’t play the song. Okay. This time for real. Y/N, will you be my girlfriend? Even though I’m asking at 2 A.M in my pajamas with probably melted chocolate?”

That caught you off guard bc girlfriend???? You thought this was about prom???

“Yes, of course I will!”

You guys hugged and all the mushy stuff. He gave you the candy bouquet and everything.

It was rlly sweet.

P sure one of you cried.

“Oh and also go to prom with me?”

“Oh yeah sure of course.”

After a couple of days, Y/N was discharged. Though she was still in quite a bit of discomfort she couldn’t wait to get home from the hospital over in a holiday season wasn’t exactly a calm and relaxing environment to recuperate in. She was home by the weekend and had a crowd of visitors come in as news had flown through the cast and crew like wildfire. She was touched that so many people seemed to care though she found herself getting exhausted at the simplest things and not quite ready to return to work as the Thanksgiving break ended.

Production rolled on into the end of November and Y/N found herself rattling around the house all day, though she finally managed to see some of the city which she had been waiting to do since she touched down for production. A welcome distraction came in the form of Chris who came straight from work to check on her late in the evenings.

The animosity between the two had disappeared totally. Since Chris had seen her so vulnerable they seemed to have come to another unspoken agreement and forgiven each other’s pettiness. He came a little after seven most nights and brought food so they could spend the night on the couch watching films. The rest of the visits, from other colleagues, died down after the first couple of days and so he was the only person she got to see by the end of the week. Y/N didn’t mind though. On the contrary, she was delighted with these interactions. In fact, the nights were a solace since she had been off work Y/N hadn’t considered what a loss it had been to have him so distant. Now he was so present she couldn’t believe he’d ever been away.

After a week off work, she was ready to return. Her doctor had given her the okay providing she didn’t drive for another week and any strenuous activity was avoided for a while. Y/N agreed to her terms as she was eager to get back to it and the production could return to its normal schedule. On the Sunday before she returned Chris came over, as he usually did, and brought Sebastian and Anthony with him. They ordered in and lounged around on the sofa enjoying the news about Y/N’s imminent return. Y/N had convinced the boys that the only thing that would make her feel better would be to binge-watch one of her favourite shows.

‘Wait so Philip did the dirty on the Queen?’ said Sebastian, looking at Y/N puzzled. ‘Well, it’s speculation but…’ ‘No way,’ he said wide-eyed. ‘How can you cheat on the Queen of England, I mean like she’s the queen,’ Anthony said. ‘I know but,’ Y/N shrugged as she munched on potato chips. ‘Brits are weird,’ Anthony chuckled earning a light-hearted glare from Y/N. ‘Woah, let’s not get into that debate Mack-Attack because you’re not gonna win,’ she said. ‘Oh, you think so?’ Chris said with a raised eyebrow. ‘Uh huh,’ she said with another glare now in his direction, ‘don’t be coming for my people.’

A laugh broke out amongst the group before it died down as they turned their attention back to the screen. The boys seemed engrossed, excited even, as Y/N announced they would be able to see the next season soon. Though after a while they started to fidget. Y/N noticed it in Chris the most who was stationed on the couch to her right and was now shuffling awkwardly in his seat. Her eyes drifted from him and back to the screen and stayed there until he was no longer unnoticeable. Chris turned to look at her and said, ‘could you perhaps turn the thermostat up? I’m a little cold here.’ His eyes were big and begging to which Y/N turned to look for other opinions. Sebastian and Anthony seemed to agree with Chris’ opinion. Y/N bit her lip and paused before admitting ‘Erm, the heating’s out, sorry.’

They looked at her puzzled and Chris sat so he was facing her and said, ‘what why?’ ‘I don’t know why it just sort of broke yesterday.’ ‘You didn’t have a look at it?’ Anthony said. ‘No?’ ‘Why didn’t you call the super or something?’ Chris said as if her actions were completely implausible. ‘I don’t know, I just kinda left it, it’s not a big deal.’ ‘You’re going without heat Y/N,’ Seb said concerned. ‘Guys it’s not a big deal. It’ll get sorted.’ ‘You see this is where you need to be a grown-up Y/N,’ Chris said with an exasperated sigh. ‘Alright dad,’ Y/N said with a roll of her eyes, ‘I’ll get a man in tomorrow.’ ‘That’s what I like to hear,’ Chris said with a grin. ‘You see that’s the difference between being 20 and being 40. Just get someone to come in, it’s no good being without heat,’ Antony chuckled as he jabbed Y/N in her side. ‘You know once some of my student friends and I didn’t use one of the rooms in our flatshare because there wasn’t a light.’ ‘What?’ Chris exclaimed. ‘Yeah, we didn’t get a new bulb for like 6 months so we just sort of stopped using that room.’ ‘That’s ludicrous,’ he said as the boys shook their heads with a laugh before Chris moved to shove Y/N’s legs off the table where they were resting as he whined, ‘and I’m still cold by the way.’ ‘There’s a blanket in my bedroom closet you big baby,’ she said resisting the urge to stick out her tongue. Chris rolled his eyes and got up dramatically as if the mere act of getting up was an achievement.

He moved through the room and into her bedroom, moving towards the closet in search of a blanket he was in desperate need of. He pulled back the door which revealed her neatly ordered cupboard to his eyes which scanned for any sign of warmth. Her clothes hung in a neat row with a shelf above them. Chris rummaged around it with a hand but felt nothing in the way of a blanket. He crouched to observe the bottom of the closet which was laden with boxes. Resting on top of one plastic box was a plush wool blanket neatly folded which he grabbed and pulled up. It unravelled to his dismay bringing with it a scrunched mess of black fabric. He moved the blanket out of the way and picked up the black fabric, shaking it out so he could fold it and put it back. It looked familiar and as he shook it out he found it to be a cop uniform. A very familiar cop uniform.

A pit grew in Chris’ stomach as his mind cast back to the last time he’d seen this uniform. But why was it here? In her closet, why would she keep it? He wasn’t sure he wanted to know the answer. As his name was called he stuffed the uniform shirt back into the closet and grabbed the blanket moving back into the living room at a pace. He was stony and silent as he sat down in his chair, the new information swirling around in his brain. ‘You okay?’ Y/N asked with a smile as he fell down into the seat with a thud. Chris turned his head and said ‘yeah’ though his smile was half-hearted. What had he missed?

Author’s Note: So I am still on my hiatus, but I wrote this a week ago and decided to post it now. This will be my last fic for a couple of weeks probably. This is just a random idea I had awhile ago. It wasn’t meant to be this long, but I’m a wordy bitch. Lol. Hope you enjoy! Also, there needs to be more Bruce fics. Just sayin’

It’s only been a couple of months since you started living at the compound with the other Avengers, but you’ve known Tony and Bruce for a while. There was an electrical fire in the middle of a forest in Michigan, you were the center of it. You could manipulate electrical energy thanks to Hydra, but you didn’t know how to control it. The only one who was able to help you get things under control was Bruce. Your electricity was like his “other guy”; you lost control of it during emotional outbursts. But thanks to Bruce, now you were able call on it when you wanted, not just through emotions.

That being said, you still had trouble with control some days; Today was one of those days.

Bruce, Tony, Wanda, Natasha, and Vision were in Russia tracking down another Hydra base. The base had been known for its chemical work, hence the science bros were both on the mission. You thought you were going to be okay; Just go about your daily schedule and relax. But after a week, you started to feel yourself faltering. You hadn’t broken down or anything, but that fear still lingered.

You knew you weren’t doing too great. You were so worried about something triggering you, causing you to lose control again, and Bruce wouldn’t be there to help. You were still working with him on being able to calm down by yourself.

You also had been thinking a lot about Bruce, outside of him helping you. You couldn’t help but realize that you had feelings for him. You couldn’t tell him though; It’d make things awkward. Bruce is the closest person you have, you couldn’t risk losing that because of feelings.

You were leaning against the edge of the hangar with Sam, looking at the view outside, lost in your own thoughts. It wasn’t until Sam poked your arm that you realized how lost you were.

“You doing alright, Sparky?” You had actually taken to liking this nickname that a lot of the team used for you. You smiled at him  before shrugging, your smile slowly falling.

“Yeah, I’m okay.” You looked to Sam who was giving you a face that said he knew you were lying.

“Come on, (Y/N). What’s going on?” You felt your lungs getting tighter.

Just focus. Do not freak out right now.

“I’m just... I’m not all here right now.”

“What do you mean?” He really didn’t know. You felt your heart rate going up, your thoughts speeding. You put a hand to your chest and backed into the hangar.

“No no no no no. Not now. Fuck fuck fuck fuck.” Muttering to yourself in an attempt to keep yourself from completely spazzing. Sam started to walk towards you.

“(Y/N)! It’s okay. Just--”

“Don’t come any closer! Please. I don’t wanna hurt you!” You backed into a corner and slid down the wall, bringing your knees to your chest, laying your head on top of them, and gently rocking yourself.

Sam pulled out his phone and called for help. Within a minute, Clint, Steve, and Bucky were in the hangar standing near him, everyone with some sort of gear on. Steve started to talk, but it just worked your up more.

God damn it, (Y/N/N)! You can’t do this right now. No one can help you! You need to fucking stop this shit now!

“(Y/N). You are safe. Bruce isn’t here right now, but you can do this yourself.” Steve tried his best to take over the situation. But you could feel the power building up more and more inside of your chest. It was so much that it caused your to fall  on your side, clutching your chest. Some small sparks were already popping out of your hands. Looking at the boys, you scream to them.

“Get out of the hangar!” It only takes them a second to understand what you yelled and they all ran outside the hangar door.

The power was too much. You let out an agonizing scream as electricity shot out from your eyes and hands. The energy went through and destroyed three jets and the wall that was behind you. The wall had various forms of equipment on it that had to be toast by now; Tony was gonna kill you for this. Just thinking about that made your attack more painful.

Steve and Clint peeked into the hangar to see what was happening. They saw that half of the hangar was undamaged and made their way there, signaling for the other two to come over. Steve tried to talk to you again and get you to ground yourself.

“(Y/N)! Come back! You gotta--” Steve couldn’t get any more out because your screams started again.

When you had control and called on your powers, it didn’t hurt. It just felt like a gentle buzz through your body. But when you had freakouts like this one, it felt like getting hit by thousands of lightning bolts while in a swimming pool with metal wires instead of bones. You couldn’t handle it anymore. Without Bruce to help, you needed to be taken out. You looked at Clint, he had been in this position twice before.

“HELP ME! PLEASE!” You were in tears. Before anyone could say anything, Clint grabbed an arrow and shot it into your thigh.

Clint had brought special arrows that had a sedative in them. You felt it hit your leg, but it wasn’t enough. A whip of electricity came out and slapped the ground in between Clint and Steve, causing them to roll out of the way. When Clint recovered, he was knelt down and ready to fire.

“I’m sorry, kiddo.” He shot another one that had twice the dosage. As soon as it hit you, you blacked out and all of the electric chaos silenced.

The rest of the team came home a couple days later. Everyone was in the common area talking, but Bruce was wandering around, looking for you. He came into the room and broke whatever conversation everyone was having.

“Hey. Anyone see (Y/N)? She’s not in any of her usual spots.” Everyone looked at each other with worry and a bit of fear. “What? What happened?”

“She’s downstairs… But she has food and water and--” Steve said somewhat quietly.

There was a section of the compound that was added underground that had a glass cage of sorts that was unbreakable, according to Tony. The team made it as a precaution if Bruce’s other side ever got out of hand. The team decided to put you there because no one, other than Bruce, knew how to really help you yet.

“Why the hell is she down there alone? Why did no one tell me? You all know how close I am to her, and I can help her.” Bruce was honestly worried now. He could imagine why you were there, he just wanted to know what actually happened. No one wanted to answer. Finally Clint spoke up.

“She lost control. More than any of us had seen before. So much so that half of the hangar is fried and we had to put her down. With three times the normal dosage…” He felt awful and he knew Bruce would be upset, but he would forgive him in time.

“How long has she been alone down there?” Again, everyone hesitated. Clint spoke up, considering he was one of the ones who had to help you in there.

“Two and a half days…”

Natasha tried to talk to Bruce but he just put his hand up and made his way to the elevator, attempting to keep himself from yelling at his friends. He knew this would blow over in a few days, but right now he only had one thing on his mind: You.

You were sitting in bed, knees up to your chest, trying to sit still. Most of the pain was finally gone, but there were still twinges every so often. Even though you were making progress, you couldn’t help the self hatred.

Way to go, dipshit. You ruined the hangar and now have the team too freaked out to let you out of this cage. Why couldn’t you keep yourself in check? You almost hit your friends. Oh yeah- You were thinking about your stupid crush on Bruce. Why are you so--

A knock against the wall of your dome made you break your train of thought. You don’t look up. Don’t get your hopes up, (Y/N). It’s probably just Clint or Steve or Sam… Just get back in control. It’s not Bruce. It’s not Bruce. It’s not--

“Oh, sweetheart… What happened?” Your eyes shot up as soon as you heard his familiar voice. He continued to speak after taking a moment to see the damage you had done to the room and to yourself. “I’m coming in there, but I need you to breathe. Alright? Focus on your hands and getting the energy back inside. I know you can do that.”

You just nodded and focused on what Bruce said. Your breathing slowly settled  back to normal and the last of the sparks disappeared . Your eyes were shut to help you draw the electricity back inside. Bruce was squatted down a few feet away from you when you open your eyes.

His heart broke when he saw you, the girl he really cared about, in a ball on an uncomfortable cot, too scared to move. He had seen you lose control before and he always helped you out, but he has never seen you get this bad. You seemed so broken and not yourself. Even your voice was broken.

“I lost control and they thought it'd be best to lock me away until I calmed and powered down again. I'm not sure you want to be here.” Your voice was quieter than normal.

Bruce just took a few steps closer until he was at the edge of the bed. He touched your hand but you recoiled, afraid of hurting him. You couldn’t bring yourself to look at him; too scared that you were going to get lost in those eyes that you’ve fallen in love with and end up spazzing out again. But Bruce took one of your hands in his while gently lifting your chin so he could see your face. 

There were small burn marks scattered around your body from where you accidentally touched yourself while still charged up. You had been crying for a while; your eyes were still red. You hadn’t slept; it was hard to sit upright, and you had dark circles under your eyes.

“(Y/N). You are not going to hurt me. You are in control of yourself. It’s just like how we practiced before. I can understand the others being hesitant towards you. But unlike them, I’m not scared of you. I like being around you. I trust you, sweetheart.”

You couldn’t help but cry. This time they were tears of relief and happiness. You were lucky to have Bruce in your life. As soon as one tear fell, Bruce sat on the bed and pulled you close. You gladly crawled against him. As soon as your hand touched his chest, a small shock hit the both of you.

“I’m sorry! I don’t know why that happened!” You started to move away from Bruce, but he just lightly laughed and kept his arm around you, gently guiding you back to his lap and kissing your head.

You both sat like that for a while; his arms wrapped around you in a protective and comforting hold, your head on his shoulder, finally feeling back to normal. Bruce could feel your breathing regulate. He decided to take a chance and kiss your forehead. It was a shock at first, but you couldn’t help but smile at the gesture.

While the silence was comfortable, Bruce couldn’t help but ask about what has been going on these past few days. You filled him in on your side of the story.

“I will talk to Tony and apologize and help pay for the repairs or help him fix whatever I can. I feel awful about all of this.” Bruce just sits there and nods for a moment. His next question kind of throws you off.

“When was the last time you slept?” You had to pause and think. Before you could answer, Bruce spoke gently, “Well, the fact that you have to think about it answers my question.” He stood up and held his hand out to you. “C’mon. Let’s get you a shower and some comfy clothes.”

You took his hand and stood up, the two of you standing there for a few seconds, your hand in his.

“(Y/N)? Can try something?” You nod, hoping it was what your mind was wandering to. Bruce put one hand on your waist and leaned down to kiss you. It was everything you wanted and more. You kissed back, causing Bruce to smile into the kiss.

There was a spark flowing between the two of you. This was one that neither one of you could control. But you were pretty sure you didn’t want to control this one. It was too good of a feeling to stop.

A/N: THE TIME FOR MY TARDY LEAVING FIC HAS COME. I had tests, ok? But I am free now. So… super late, but this takes place on a random day after the first rebel attack and (most of it) on the day Aileen gets eliminated. That means before the Queen’s funeral. Thanks @mila-regan ​ and @lady-naomi-lafleur ​ for the RP’s! And FYI it begins and finishes with Colleen guys ;) I think it’s not that bad lol  Ft. Cole, Naomi, Mila, (suuuuuper brief mention of Haiden) and Aileen’s maids. Enjoy! 

“This is not how picnics work.” Cole pointed out as he chewed on his sandwich.

I smiled at his muffled voice, “Best one I’ve had so far.” He replied with an eye roll and  scoffed. “You don’t believe me?” 

“We’re in the hospital wing.” He stated, raising an eyebrow at me and then gesturing at the room to emphasize. “Picnics are supposed to be outside, sitting on the grass under the sun, surrounded by flowers or a good breeze…” He paused when he noticed the look I was giving him and with a teasing smile added, “Or you know something corny like that.”

“Thanks for ruining it, Cole.”

“That’s what I’m here for.” He smiled, giving me a kiss on the nose.

“Whatever. Grass is overrated anyway.” I mumbled, snatching one of his grapes and placing it in my mouth. “Plus, the sun hates me.”

“The sun hates you.” He repeated with a smirk.

“Yes, it does. It gives me sunburns.”

“Hate to break it to you, but that happens to a lot of people, Firework.”

“When you get sunburn because you forget to put on sunblock to stand in line for an ice cream we can talk about this.”

“Very well, the sun hates you.” He reached for a grape too. “You never seemed bothered by it when we walked in the gardens though.”

“We were usually in the shade, and besides, I use sunblock every time to avoid becoming a lobster.”

He grinned at that. “I bet you’re a good looking lobster.” 

“No. I’m the grumpy lobster that tells people to stay at least one foot away from her skin at all times until she’s not a lobster anymore. That means no nose kisses or hugs.”

He made a face at my last statement. “Okay, so not a favorable lobster, but still a very good looking one.”

“You know I say lobster because I look red.”

“Hey, be purple if you want. Just don’t lose that hair of yours or I’ll have to come up with new nicknames.”

“And that would be a tragedy.” I snickered.

“Well, I’m not that creative.”

I reached for a grape again and he glared at me for taking yet another one. “You know, there’s no point in you bringing me lunch if you’re going to eat it for me.”

“I’m a food stealer, get used to it.”

“Okay,” he grabbed one of my tangerine slices before I could stop him “I do it too. Don’t have to hold back now.”

Giving him a narrowed-eye look I crossed my arms over my chest. “Shameful, Cole. You’re stealing from an innocent girl.”

He ate the slice without remorse. “Clearly I am a bad example to all the little children out there.”

“A disgrace really. Your cow should be dishonored.”

He lost the straight face at that, “My cow?”

I mentally thanked Naomi for my win. “It’s a Selected thing, you won’t get it.”

“And here I thought you were the only weird one.”

“I guess I’m not that special.”

“I beg to differ.”

“Please, do elaborate.”

“I call you matchstick because of your hair, but Firework can have more than one meaning.” He seemed amused by my confusion.

Moving aside our food he carefully scooted closer to me and reached for my hands, “Close your eyes.” I frowned at that, so he squeezed. “Come on, close them.”

“Fine,” I grumbled, doing what he asked. “But if this is some kind of move to steal a kiss from me I’ll slap you.”

He laughed and I smiled at the way the sound seemed to echo in the room. Even with my eyes closed I could imagine his lips revealing a grin. “Feisty.”

“And that’s why you like me.”

“Questionable.”

I opened my eyes and gasped dramatically to feign offense. He leaned closer to me and placed his forehead on mine. “I’m kidding. Close your eyes.”

I closed them again after another glare and the touch of his forehead disappeared. Slightly disappointing.

“Perfect. Now, imagine you’re walking on the gardens at night by yourself,” he began. “So, you’re minding your own business, right? But then you catch the glimpse of something lighting up the sky behind you, the sound of crackling filling the silence. What do you do?”

“I turn around, of course.”

“Mhmm, exactly, you turn around and find yourself with flashes of light in different colors that appear in the air with every pop heard in the distance.”

“Fireworks.” I chuckled.

“Precisely.” A kiss to my knuckles. “Captivating, aren’t they? You were in the gardens for a regular walk, but then they just appeared out of nowhere and the thought of looking away became impossible. You’ll pause for as long as it’s necessary. Maybe you’ll even derail from your path to find a better spot to admire them, someplace closer. They light up the sky in a different way and you just have to see it. Once they’re gone you’ll wish there were more.” I nodded again, and this time felt his hand move to intertwine our fingers, his palm facing mine. “That’s you every time you cross a door.”

Even though my eyes snapped open at those words he continued with a smile, staring at me like he believed I was the only thing worth looking at in the moment.  “You do whatever it takes to make everything an odd adventure and you drag people with you to join the fun. A walk through the gardens becomes a charade game, searching for a cat becomes a pillow fight, washing the dishes turns into a musical, taking pictures ends up with a splash on the fountains. When you laugh it fills up the space and makes everyone else wish to share the moment with you. When you joke it’s so others can become part of your flare.”

I knew my mouth was agape, but I couldn’t help it. I’d never thought words could strike me so much. It wasn’t only the idea he was trying to convey, it was the sentiment behind it, the true belief that I was all that. How he could actually compare me to something so simple and make it have a deeper meaning. It was the way the words flowed out of his mouth with the very intention of leaving me in awe.

“You’re a firework,” he leaned to kiss my forehead with a grin. “Now that I think about it, being a matchstick means you light yourself up as well.”

“You might be a lot better with nicknames than you think.”

“Maybe I am.”

“Is it too soon to be using the L word for real?” I whispered, placing my arms over his shoulders.

He closed his eyes—bringing his forehead to rest on mine again—the grin on his face growing wider. “Maybe it is…but I love you too.”

I tuned my ukulele as Cole ate. He was stuck with hospital food that day since I’d decided to start packing before eliminations and had no time to make him lunch myself.

“Does it taste like cardboard?” I joked.

“Actually, it’s pretty good.”

“Better than mine?”

“Nothing is better than yours.”

I raised an eyebrow. “Not even Chef Baguette’s?”

“He doesn’t make cat shaped sandwiches… so I’m gonna say no.”

“Good answer” I smirked.

He replied with only a wink and continued eating, yet his eyes drifted back to me when I started playing. I tried to ignore his gaze and instead focused on my hand movements. The sound. The beat. Letting my fingers touch the required strings, instead of struggling to remember the chords. When you practiced a song long enough there was a point where the notes became an afterthought and it was just your hand memory playing, automatically moving to the next thing. Almost like your head created a pattern.

When I was done Cole blinked a couple of times before whistling. “That was…well…where you even touching the strings?”

I could only smile. There was always the feeling of fulfillment when I made it all the way through a song with no mistakes. “Pretty neat, huh?”

“Neat will never do you justice, Firework.”

“Flattery will only get you so far, Cabbages.”

He chuckled and returned to his food once more. “So today is your last day?”

I nodded, walking over to him so I could steal some bread. “My time in the Selection has come to an end.”

He reached for my stealing hand and snatched the piece of bread back, “Your time in the Selection, yes, but not your time in the palace.”  

“Well, if I have a reason to visit…”

He pulled my arm and I fell on the bed next to him. “Do you have a reason?”

Our noses grazed one another. “I think I have plenty.”

“Elizabeth Matthews.” She didn’t seem too bothered. “Patricia Beauchamp.” Slightly disappointed, but Mila was quick to comfort her. “Alexandra Amaria.” Well…she’s not even in the country.

Haiden paused just for a second to glance at me before reading the last name. I faked a pout and he looked down at the paper again with a suppressed smile. “Aileen Hollingsworth.”

And so, I am out.

“Aileen!” Naomi practically screamed, stressing the last syllable in my name. I turned around to look at her and yelled “Naomi!” back at her.

She lunged at me for a hug. “I’m gonna miss youuuu!”

I returned her hug. “I’ll miss you too, but I won’t be far away!”

We were screaming so much Haiden turned to look at us with raised eyebrows as he made his way out of the room as well. I stuck my tongue out at him and he rolled his eyes in slight amusement as he walked past us.

Naomi—who hadn’t been able to see our little exchange—held me at arm’s length and tilted her head. “Where will you go?”

I laughed. “It’ll be a couple of weeks before my parents come back from filming in Dominica, but they told me I might as well stay here since they’ll be back soon. I’ll stay in my uncle’s house with my cousins…and my brother.”

She gave me a sympathetic smile. Naomi had been one of the few people I’d told about Sam. Burning therapy had been nice. “I hope that goes well! You better write to me!”

“We talked…I think it’ll be fine. And don’t worry, I’ll write! Maybe I’ll even sneak in and say hi.” I wiggled my eyebrows at the last part, technically not sneaking in if I’m invited.

“That would be great!” she practically jumped with excitement, but then in a whisper she added, “I’ll secretly send you Baguette’s food.”

I squeezed her hand thinking about how I would miss seeing her every day, doing something equally dramatic as me. “That would be wonderful.”

I was making sure I had all my things ready to leave when my room’s door swung open. “Aileen!” This time it was Mila who was running to me for a hug. “I can’t believe it!”

She came at me with such force I almost fell, but I managed to keep my ground and hugged her back with a laugh. “Well, I can. I’ll miss seeing you every day however.”

“I’m going to miss you so much Aileen. But how did you know? Did Haiden tell you he would send you away?”

“Um…” I smiled awkwardly. “I didn’t mention it to you guys before, but winning hasn’t been on my plans for a while now.”

She laughed. “Wait, what?”

“Haiden and I agreed being friends was as far as things would go for us… but don’t worry, it wasn’t tragic at all or anything. We’re actually pretty close…just not romantically speaking.” I had decided not to tell others about it to avoid problems, but if I was finally out I could trust Mila with it. “We realized it pretty early on actually.”

“I’m happy you two could go through with just being friends. But why did he make you leave now and not when the “One” is chosen?

She had no idea how much I wished I could stay. “This is just the moment where leaving me in if I’m not really participating isn’t possible anymore. I knew I’d be out this round since before his birthday.”

Mila accepted it with a sigh. “Couldn’t you’ve warned me? I don’t want you to leave Aileen. I like the other girls but my best friends will be gone now…”

Her words caught me off guard and I couldn’t help but tear up with a smile. “That’s not fair! You don’t get to make me cry!”

Tears formed in her eyes too as she gave me a sheepish smile back. “I can if we cry together.”

I looked up at the ceiling to stop the tears from coming down and laughed. “I won’t even be that far! I’ll probably still see you once a week!”

“I know, but it will be so different without you. The palace is already this big; it will be almost empty without you.”

“I guess I would have felt the same if you or Naomi had left before me…” I paused, remembering my conversations with Cole. “Oh, but trust me. I think I’ll be around more than you think. I’ll just have to find you.”

She shared a mischievous grin with me. “What are you up to? Just sneaking your way back into the palace?”

“Well…” I trailed off, plopping on the bed. I’d let Naomi think I was just going to sneak in, but I couldn’t keep it in any longer. I’d have to talk with her about it soon too. “Some sneaking around will be involved, but I’ll probably be here with an invitation…A royal invitation.”

She gasped and plopped down next to me. “Stop the mystery and tell me already!”

“Remember Cole?”

“Yes… Wait he didn’t..?” She frowned at me and I remembered the only interaction she had with him was the crashing bowl incident.

“Ok, there are a lot of things I haven’t been telling you now that I think about it. I’m a horrible friend. Naomi should dishonor my cow.”

Mila laughed at the reference. “Oh, she should! But I forgive you for not telling me if you tell me now.”

Here goes nothing. I quickly stood up from the bed, rambling as I paced the room, unable to hide a smile. “Okay, so you’ve probably noticed I go to the gardens a lot or I’m just generally not in the women’s room. Or maybe you haven’t noticed? I don’t know…but anyway, sometimes it was because I was with Haiden—talking about how he was going to deal with you girls without dying and becoming a puddle of confusion—but other times it was because I was hanging out with Cole.”

I took a big breath before continuing. “I mean, it wasn’t anything planned. He almost killed me with his horse, and then we started walking back to the palace, but we ended up talking, and he sucks at charades—but I suck at them too so who cares. After that we just kind of kept on meeting each other there. It turned out he wasn’t a complete jerk, he actually tried to help me when I was upset about my brother, and at some point we just kind of started getting along. I don’t know why I didn’t realize how I felt about him before. After all, we did spend a lot of time together, and I liked our random and not-so-random meet ups…yet for some reason it didn’t cross my mind!” I rolled my eyes at my own naivety. “No wonder Haiden kept asking if there was something I wanted to tell him! He probably realized I liked Cole before I did!”

“I am completely stunned, Aileen!” The surprise was written all over her face. “Of course I noticed you weren’t allowed in the women’s room a lot, but I thought you just needed some alone time…. Well, you did but with Cole! I’m glad he isn’t that much of a jerk, but he almost killed you with his horse?”

“Oh, I’m just being dramatic, don’t worry. I kicked him in the shins when he came with his lousy apology anyway.”

She shook her head with a laugh. “I already like you two together. And it’s so funny Haiden is totally fine with it.”

“Uh, I don’t know if he’s fine with it. I mean, I know he’ll be happy for us, but I’m still working on getting him to admit he cares for Cole in general… You see, they don’t get along so well, but the two idiots care for each other, so at least there’s that.”

“Yeah, I figured out they didn’t get along that well.” She paused before smirking. “Sooo, when’s the wedding?”

I scowled at her. “Don’t jump to the wedding just yet!”

“Sorry but that means I get to see you more!”

I tsked. “We’ve barely just kissed…and we admitted our feelings for each other, but I doubt he’s thinking about that just yet.”

“YOU KISSED?”

“Oh my…” I brought a hand to my forehead. “I forgot to tell Haiden we kissed! DON’T TELL HIM I TOLD YOU FIRST.” I wasn’t even sure of how he would react to the news. “But yes! WE KISSED.”

“No, I won’t! I’m so happy for you, Aileen!”

“I wish it hadn’t taken us a near death experience to actually realize this…but I’m happy about him, about us.” Us. I couldn’t help but squeal at the thought before jumping on the bed and covering myself with a blanket. “You make me overly happy about things, you know? I become a danger to humanity.” I thought of Cole again and buried my head in the bed. “But he’s just really adorable, you have no idea.”

She practically squealed with me. “You two are so adorable! This makes me so happy, you deserve a happy ending too!”

I smiled at her. “Thanks Mila, I still can’t believe it sometimes to be honest. I wish he wasn’t stuck on that dreadful medical wing however.”

“He’s where? Is he okay?”

“Oh…I guess you haven’t heard.” Not really a surprise since Cole had insisted word shouldn’t get out. Apparently he didn’t want the country focusing on his medical monitoring.

Mila gave me a questioning look after mumbling a “No.”

I rubbed my neck and averted her gaze. “We…encountered a rebel during the attack from last week.”

“What? You did!?”

“Yeah…”

“They didn’t hurt you, right?”

“He got shot, but he’s okay now… They’re keeping him there for a while longer just to be safe. I kind of got a concussion,” I did my best to dismiss her concern “it was nothing though.”

“I wouldn’t call a concussion ‘nothing’, Aileen! You two could’ve died!”

“I barely remember what happened after we met the rebel…I didn’t even see when Cole got shot—which I’m not sure if I’m thankful for or not—I just woke up and we were in a completely different room, and Haiden was there and Cole was…” I shook my head to push the image of Cole’s bloody side and clammy skin away. “The important thing is we were all okay in the end.”

“I am so grateful you’re alive. And you’re right; in the end we’re all okay and safe.” She gave me a hesitant smile. “Try to be more careful next time.” Then with a wink she pulled me in for a last hug. “I have saved you some bags of chips, so you can still think of me.”

“Thanks Mila, but I doubt they’ll survive long.” I laughed, but tears threatened my eyes again as I felt the familiar smell of pine around her. “Ugh, this feels like we’re not going to see each other again even though we will.”

“I know, but we will! Imagine us both ending up in the palace…”

“I guess we never know…” Could it be her? Was she the girl Haiden had been talking about? I’ll have to wait and see.

“Have a safe trip home, Aileen.”

Anne and Janet hugged me tightly and I almost felt the need to cry again. I managed to keep it together though, and shook my head as they left the room to convince Chef Baguette to make me one last quick meal. I doubted he would agree to it if he still remembered me and Haiden stealing his baguettes months ago.

When we were alone Sydney seized the opportunity to say her farewells. She still reminded me of my mother a lot. “You better behave yourself, Lady Aileen.”

I frowned at the use of my temporary title. Since the day they assigned her as my third maid she’d never once called me Lady before. “Sydney, now it’s just Miss.”

“I don’t think it’ll stay that way for long.” Her smile broadened at my puzzled look. “Just because Prince Haiden wasn’t interested in you romantically, it doesn’t mean another prince isn’t.”

The blush that took over my face was probably enough evidence to confirm her claims, but I still stammered to refute them. I might have told Mila the truth—and planned to tell Naomi soon enough—but I hadn’t planned on letting the whole palace in on the story just yet. “W-What? Sydney, I don’t know where you’re getting the idea that— Why would you even think he— I’m not—”

She stopped my blabbering by placing her hands on my shoulders. “Aileen, I’ve spent over a year watching my boy deny his own feelings for a girl. Luckily for him, despite the lack of courtship, the girl seems to share the sentiment and is only keeping it at bay like he is. Maybe a lot of people didn’t notice it on you two either, but I saw the way you looked at each other once and it’s that same look. Considering the amount of time you’ve spent on the hospital wing lately however… I like to think you two have gone past denial.”

I blinked a couple of times, taking in her words and then giving her a shy smile. “Yes, we have.”

She nodded with approval. “Good, I wish my Nathan had been that fast to accept it.”

Sydney had mentioned her son a couple of times before, a guard like his father, so I’d actually met him too, but she’d never mentioned he had a liking for someone in particular. I suddenly wondered who it was. “Do you think he’ll ever accept it?”

“Oh, he better, though I understand his reluctance.” She shook her head with a sigh. “Either way, I hope things go well for you and Prince Cole.”

I finally hugged her. “I hope so too.”

“I wish I could go with you.” Cole grumbled, staring at the ceiling.

“That would have been slightly suspicious anyway.” I snorted.

“Ugh, fine, but I’ll be allowed to walk again soon. They said I should be able to do so before…Aunt Alize’s funeral.” Every time the Queen was mentioned it was like the air in the room shifted out of place—even for just a split second.

Haiden might smile at certain things now, but it wasn’t the same as it used to be. As for Cole, whenever it was brought up by accident, he always made a moment of silence (that I wasn’t sure if he noticed he did or not). I for one felt the constant reminder that a brave woman’s life had come to an end for no logical reason, and not only her, but other dignitaries as well. Ambassador E-Jun that had been so sweet with everyone…

Cole cleared his throat as we both tried to get past that split second together. “Maybe once I’m discharged we can have a decent picnic. At night. That way we’ll avoid your transformation into a lobster.”

That managed to get a laugh out of me. “In the moonlight it shall be.” I gave him a quick kiss before trying to head for the door, but he didn’t let go of my hand and instead pulled me to the hospital bed again. “What?” I asked with a grin as he examined my face, only bare inches apart from his.

“Just wanted to get a good look at you before you leave.”

“I’ll come visit soon enough, don’t be so melodramatic.”

He smirked and gently reached for my face to give me one last kiss. “Trust me, I’ll be counting the minutes.”

ALSO she is a really genuine person (at least from what I can tell) from the way she takes time to answer her asks and yeah I love very much :’)

My car caught on fire due to some electrical wiring, im fully comp, and have never claimed before. But sneaky as they are, they have told me that they do not cover electrical wiring faults, which has caused the fire. But the AA who towed my car in has catergorised it as fire damage. Surely they must cover the fire damage. I took it to a repair centre near me, and have asked them to have a quick check, and they also say its fire damage and what not, this has been procrastinated for so long by the insurance company, (claims company rather) that i can't remember what the repair centre has stated. Surely, fully comp covers something like this? THEIR engineers have said that there was no further damage to the rest of the car, but can i trust THEIR engineers? A full check up costs a lot, as they would have to take apart the car ( i believe? ) When i rang up the lady at the claims centre, she had no idea what case i was on, she literally said 'give me a moment to read up on your case' for me, thats a bit pathetic. While speaking on the phone with her not only was she rude, almost shouting at me (as i pressed on further ) . She told me she would send the company policy booklet to show that electrical wiring is not covered, and a letter stating the case was closed and in detail what the whole case is about. A week and a half has gone by (she said couple of days) This is the most annoying thing. She was rude, unhelpful, unwilling to help, and just taking the pee with the whole thing. I just find it sketchy that the letter has not been made, and no further actions or anything has happened (i have also opened another case about another incident - no info .. still) . I think they are just hoping i'd give this up as they are so unwilling to pay out. This is the reason I have insurance. Whats the point otherwise? Sorry for the long read. I have no idea what to do now, can i take it to a small claims court or talk to someone in the city council to further my case? Thanks""

Should I accept this settlement offer from an insurance company?

I was in a car accident when a girl blew a red light and smashed into my side. $10,000 in auto damages that was fixed rights away. (btw she admitted fault to police so im 0% at fault legally) I went to emergency room for precautionary reasons. That cost $1450. Then little by little the pain started to kick in. I had neck pain, shoulder pain, back pain and terrible pain in my knee. I had MRI on back, knee and neck because those were the worst. That total was about $1800. I was told by the doctor that the mri on my back said I have two herniated disks and I should do therapy. I listened to him and went four times per week for four months. The Mri on my neck came back good. But my knee showed a tear in mcl. I had surgery on that and had to see the surgeon in his office twice plus hospital bills which equals a bill of $14,500. I then needed 2 months of therapy on my knee. Also all the pain meds ive been taking through out the whole process is around $600. I had a ekg for my nerves to test if they were good and that cost $800. So after doing my research I find websites that say the settlement amount s should be all bills multiplied by 3 depending on the persons insurance carrier and coverage. Well this person has $200,000/$200,000. So far all my bills have been paid through my insurance. When I do the math for what all the bills are is comes to roughly $28350. I didn't include the four days per week for therapy and seeing the doctors. That has to be a big chunk also. My lawyer called me and said he was made an offer of $42,000. He gets a 1/3 of that. I think they low balled me soooo bad on this. If i use the X3 multiplier method then it should have been somewhere around $85,000 offer. Remember I didn't even include all the visits to the therapy. Is this a good offer or should I decline and wait for second offer? My lawyer thinks we should wait it out because he has such a big insurance policy that we can get much more especially since that was our first offer.""

In June of 08 my fiance and I are getting married in IL. I will be just out of school and looking for a full-time teaching job. My soon to be husband graduated 2 years ago and found a part-time music job, but the school eliminated all the part-time positions. He is now subbing and teaching percussion lessons every week. We both will have to pay for insurance until we both get full-time jobs. What is a normal cost to pay per month. If I was to average $150.00 a month is that to little or to much for the two of us. I will be 22 almost 23 and he will be 25. I know he has insurance, but it only covers things that will cost over $8,000 and everything else he pays for out of pocket like shots and etc. It would be nice to have a better plan. He has a screwed up back and some other issues with his body hurting from time to time and blue cross and blue sheild rejected his application. Would my auto insurance increase if I hit a careless pedestrian jaywalking on a private property? Here are the case facts: - 1. Pedestrian was hit by my car while crossing a road located within a private property (a community college) in Brampton, Ontario (Canada) 2. I was in no position to clearly see the pedestrian in advance as the pedestrian suddenly appeared from behind the huge pile of snow on the side of the road. The pedestrian was walking from the parking lot and came onto the road from a blind spot. 3. I was driving at 30kms/hrs and saw the pedestrian just before I hit the pedestrian. 4. The pedestrian was NOT using the designated pedestrian crosswalk but was jaywalking on the road in attempt to cross the road. 5. I applied brakes as soon as I saw the pedestrian on my way but the pedestrian got hit by the time finished applying the breaks. I think my car came in contact with the pedestrian when the car had almost stopped possibly causing the minimum impact. Pedestrian seemed to be all right (not injured) but was slightly in pain due to the hit as my car hit her in the thigh. She did not fall down and was still able to walk (but was crying due to the shock) 6. I called 911 (both cops and ambulance) and they didnt charge me with offence. 7. The Police Officer concluded that it was not my fault after he confirmed with the witnesses that I actually tried to stop the car and that the pedestrian was jaywalking and not using the pedestrian walk for cross the road. The cop mentioned that I would have been charged if I were not driving on a private property. The building security also concluded that I was not at fault. 8. The police accident report makes no mention of my fault. 9. The paramedics concluded that pedestrian was not injured and was all right but they took her to the hospital anyway (for check up since the pedestrian seemed to have some pain in the thigh) My question is  Although, I was not ticketed or charged, would MY INSURANCE GO UP? I have heard that Insurance companies are notorious and would hold you responsible anyways or may hold you partially at fault?""

This agency, BIG BLOCK, came back with a dozen examples that all had more miles then mine, and adjusted me .16 cents a mile. After doing depreciation calculations on their examples, the average dep per mile was .60 cents per mile!!!! This changes their evaluation by about 7-8000 dollars overall. Its been two weeks since they totaled my car. What should I do if they keep trying to low ball me?""

Phoned my car insurance company today to report a minor bump. The guy asked if I had any points on my license and I told him that yes I have 3 points for speeding.
