Just A Girl in Arkham (Jerome x reader) Part 3
Word Count: 2598 Warnings: electroshock therapy, voices, hallucinating, blood and bruises A/N: hey guys! So this is part three, probably like two more parts, at least, maybe more, just depends. Sorry this took so long to get up, it’s a little longer than the others, so I don’t think anyone is gonna complain. Enjoy! Your body shook as electricity coursed through it. Biting down hard on the piece of leather in your mouth, you tried to stifle a scream. “Turn the voltage up two percent.” Someone instructed. You shook your head frantically as you heard those awful words. “No, no!” You tried to speak, but found you couldn’t as the shocks started up again, even more painful this time. You didn’t notice it, but your body had gone from shaking to convulsing. You grit your teeth as the ‘treatment’ came to an end. Some treatment. They actually thought sending electricity through your brain could somehow ‘shock’ you back to sanity. Someone removed the leather from your mouth, and you attempted to bite who ever’s hand it was. You received a sharp blow to the cheek for this, but you only smirked. You didn’t fight as your body was unstrapped from the table, pulled off, and roughly held upright. Looking down at your arms you could see large blotches of purple and blue forming at your wrists, forearms, and biceps. Small cuts were bleeding openly around the edges of the bruises where you’d pulled against the straps that held you down. Three large men held you up as two more came at you with a straightjacket. You whimpered slightly as they harshly strapped you into the restrictive material, not minding your injuries. The moment they were done, pills were shoved into your mouth, and a muzzle was strapped around your face, effectively stopping you from spitting out the medicine. You glared at the guards and doctors in front of you, letting out a growl when one of the nurses came towards you with a syringe. She jumped slightly, but continued trying to administer whatever drug was in the needle. You didn’t remember when the guards had let you go, but they had. They must have thought you were to incapacitated to fight back. ‘Stupid.’ You thought to yourself. You let the nurse come closer until she was right next to you. She had barley pressed the needle to your neck when you ducked and connected your head with her stomach. She let out a pained sound before falling back and crumpling to the floor. ‘Poor thing.’ You thought sarcastically as multiple guards grabbed you and forced you to the ground. You felt the cold metal of the needle on your neck, then the sharp sting that came with being injected with medicine. You winced as you felt the needle slid out of your skin. The next thing you knew, you were being hauled off of the floor. Your vision was fuzzy, and you couldn’t feel your legs. This must have been expected, because a wheelchair was brought into the room a moment later. After being strapped in, the guards transported you down multiple halls to your solitary cell. Once you arrived at the large metal door, two men unstrapped you as another opened it. You were shoved inside very unceremoniously. As you fell face first to the ground, you heard the door slam shut behind you; lock clicking into place, and deadbolt sliding across the door. You immediately drug your head against the floor, rubbing and straining until the strap on the muzzle loosened. A few minutes later, and it was off completely. You spit out the pills with a disgusted look on your face before falling back onto the floor. You rolled over and let out an annoyed sigh. You were utterly bored. And crazy sore. It was always the same. Wake up, be in the cell. Get taken to therapy, come back to the cell. Food in between. Not even decent food. You slowly sat up and looked around your cell. It was one of those cells you’d see in a movie; white padded everything. ‘Too white,’ you decided. “Oh, yep. Definitely too white. It would be tons better with color…maybe red?” Your head swung around, trying to find where the voice had come from. Your eyes widened and a grin formed on your face once you realized what was going on. “Your back.” You stated rather than asked. “Yes, we are.” A different voice answered. Though you knew you wouldn’t see anything, you still looked around the room. “Since when?” You asked as you moved over to the small mat that served as a bed. “Since you decided to stop taking the little green pills.” Yet another voice answered you. ‘Well, I won’t be bored.’ You thought. “Oh, no. You won’t.” Another voice assured. The smile never left your face. This was gonna be great.
--------------------------
“Jerome, come here, please.” Jerome appeared a moment later, coming through the large double doors on the far side of the room. “Yes, Mr. Galavan.” He answered as his eyes landed on Theo’s figure. He was sitting on one of the couches that stood in the middle of the area, holding a file. Theo motioned for Jerome to sit down, which he did, jumping onto the couch opposite Theo, sitting Indian style. “Well, I’ve talked to Tabitha, and she says that Y/n was one of the original candidates for this group. Before she, you know- “ “Killed four guys and got locked up in solitary?” Jerome finished, grinning proudly. “Four? I thought it was two…” Theo searched his papers before nodding. “Ah, ok. Four.” “So, can we get her out?” The ginger asked eagerly. “Well...” Theo started as Jerome looked at him expectantly. “She’s very dangerous, understand. She didn’t just kill her brother, she killed over half of the people in her apartment building, as well as about forty of her brother’s ex-girlfriends and lovers. In total, it was about ninety-six people.” Jeromes expression changed to one of admiration. “Is that a yes?” He said, half begging. “I think we can manage that.” Theo said after a long stretch of silence. Jeromes face broke into a large smile. “Woohoo!” He whooped, jumping up off the couch and spinning in a circle. “I’m getting my girl back!” “Go get ready, Jerome.” Theo said sternly. “There’s a delicate process for this, it needs to go smoothly.”
“Perfect!” Jerome saluted him before turning and dashing out of the room.
-------------------
Jerome hid his face beneath his cap as he passed some guards in the hallway. He quickly made his was down to the lower levels, Barbra right behind him. They made it down to the solitary level without being seen. Finding your room was the next challenge. Jerome walked from door to door, checking the patient numbers. Seven rooms down, he found you. Patient number 6663. Barbra ran down the hall to find you a wheelchair as Jerome entered your cell. Careful to be as quiet as he could, he unlocked the door to your room.
---------------
You’d already been to electro for the day, and now you were working on getting out of your straight jacket. Jerome walked over to you and undid the last latch. “Thanks, J.” You said, sending him a wink. “Anything for you dollface.” He replied, sitting down next to you. “Find anything interesting?” You asked, laying back in his lap. He shook his head, pouting. “Not a thing.” He said, running his fingers through your hair. You hummed in approval. You sat up straight as you heard the door being unbolted. You looked at Jerome with fear in your eyes. “You gotta go, J!” You said frantically. He shook his head. “No, doll. I ain’t leaving ya.” He argued. You pushed him towards the door. “Go, Jerome. Now!” You wrapped the straight jacket around yourself and turned to face the corner as the door opened. Looking back, you could see Jerome sneak out as a guard stepped in. He shined his flashlight around before leaving, locking the door behind him.
Guards P.O.V.
“Nothin’, she’s talking to herself again.” He said into his radio. “I think ya need to up her dosage, though.” He said as he walked away.
Your P.O.V.
About three hours after the guard came to check on you, Jerome came back. But, you were already having a conversation, so you ignored him. Which made him upset, so he went and sat by the door to pout. “He looks so angry.” You laughed, pointing to Jerome’s hunched over figure. “You’re right! He does!” Someone responded. “He looked like a mad tomato.” Another said. Your expression changed from amused to deadly in a matter of seconds. “Don’t call him a tomato!” You screamed, throwing the straight jacket towards the voice, forgetting you wouldn’t be able to hit them. In the middle of your outburst the door opened. You didn’t notice, but Jerome did. “Y/n!” He called out at the same time the guard did. You paused and turned slowly to face the door. Your eyes widened as you saw Jerome, dressed in a guards uniform, standing next to Jerome, who was wearing his asylum jumpsuit. “No, no, no!” You said at a normal tone before it turned to screaming. You shook your head and backed into a corner. “Go away! Get out of here!” You continued to scream as you covered your ears with your hands, falling to the ground.
Jeromes P.O.V.
The smile fell off my face as Y/n began screaming at me. I watched in confusion as she backed into the corner, crying. “Oh, baby, what did they do to you?” I whispered, horrified, as I caught a glance of her ‘therapy sheet’. Electroshock. “Jerome, make him go away!” I heard her scream again. I rushed into the room, only to have her yell again upon seeing me. “Jerome, that’s not you. I need him gone.” She said frantically. I was about to answer when I realized that she wasn’t talking to me, rather to the space next to me. She paused and listened for a moment before nodding her head. I watched as she cautiously walked up to me and touched my arm. It was a quick touch, almost like a tap, but it made her eyes widen in shock. Turning to the same space next to me, she began screaming again. “You lied! You lied to me! Make him go away!” She ran behind the door and emerged with a straight jacket, one she’d obviously gotten out of. Before I could react, she threw it right past me, barely missing my face. It hit the wall, hard, and she smirked triumphantly, as if she’d just won a game. Her expression changed once she saw me again, and she quickly looked down. “J, is that you?” She asked quietly, not looking at me. “Yeah, baby. It’s me.” She shook her head no as if she didn’t believe me. “Y/n,” I said, carefully touching her on the arm. She hissed in pain and pulled away. “Y/n, doll, what’s wrong? Show me, please.” I said softly. She reluctantly held out her arm so that I could roll up her sleeve. I pushed away the material and inhaled sharply. Bruises littered her s/c arm delicately in the shape of thick cuffs, cuts outlining the bruises. “May I?” I asked, gesturing to her skirt. She nodded once, and I knelt in front of her, pulling up her skirt. I covered my mouth in horror. Her legs were covered in bruises and blood, so much that I could hardly see her skin. “Come here, baby.” I scooped her up in my arms.” I’m gonna get ya out of here.” She let out a shaky breath and clutched the front of my shirt as I carried her out into the corridor, where Barbra was waiting with a wheelchair and a disguise. I let her down and held her up gently while she got dressed. “Hey, Y/n.” Barbra said softly, helping her put on the doctor’s uniform. Y/n gave her a slow smile as she finished before her legs suddenly gave out. I caught her easily and placed her in the chair, pushing it quickly to the back entrance. Barbra ran ahead to open the door so that it was open by the time I got Y/n there. We’d only passed two guards on our way out, and they hadn’t asked any questions. I quickly lifted Y/n from the chair and rushed to the car that was waiting to take us back to the Galavans penthouse.
Your P.O.V.
You groaned as you rolled over, only just becoming aware of a massive headache. You sat up slowly and rubbed your head, wincing at the light that got past the curtains on the windows. Wait, windows. You didn’t have windows. Where were you? You opened your eyes and looked around. You didn’t recognize the room you were in. “Where am I?” You wondered out loud as you sat up. “Where do you think?” A voice answered. You blinked several times, looking around the room again. “I don’t know,” you finally said,” but at least it’s not Arkham, right?” “That’s true. It’s not Arkham. But now we’ve got another problem. Someone’s got us. All of us.” Another voice answered. “All of us?” You questioned. “Yes, all of us. We go with you. Someone has you, they have us all.” A different voice explained. “Great.” You muttered, falling back onto the bed.
Jeromes P.O.V.
I was outside of Y/n’s door about to go check on her when I heard her talking. “Where am I?” Her voice was muffled by the door, but I could still hear her. She paused for a moment before speaking again. “I don’t know, but at least it’s not Arkham, right?” She paused for a short period before asking, “All of us?” I listened in confusion, but the only thing I heard after that was her muttering ‘great’, and a small thump, indicating that she’d fallen back onto the bed. I chose that moment to knock on the door lightly and walk into the room. “Good morning, sugar.” I said, not even trying to keep the worry out of my voice. The moment she heard me, Y/n sat up and her eyes went wide. “Jerome!” She cried out. She was about to get out of the bed, but I stopped her, instead climbing into the bed with and on top of her. I held myself up on my forearms, minding her injuries. “Hi.” I breathed, my face inches from hers. “Hi.” She giggled, wrapping her arms around my torso. I rolled to the side, placing my arms tightly but gently around her. I held her for a few moments before I had to ask. “So, are they…ya know, back?” I asked. I could practically feel her roll her eyes.
Your P.O.V.
You knew exactly what he was talking about. You’d told him when you’d first met him that you’d had voices talk to you. At least, before they made you take all those pills. Then they’d stopped. “Yeah, they kept me from being lonely in solitary…” You trailed off when his grip around you tightened slightly, getting more protective. “Anyways,” you said, changing the subject,” why am I here?” “Aww, princess. I rescued you, of course.” Jerome said in a matter of fact tone. “Of course, you did.” You snorted slightly before composing yourself. “No, really.” You looked up into his eyes, e/c meeting stormy blue. Jerome grinned happily. “Because I didn’t wanna leave ya in Arkham all by yourself. Besides, I’ve got some friends I wanna introduce you to. You’re gonna love ‘em.” “Only if they’re a bunch of maniacs.” You retorted. This made Jerome’s grin widen. “You bet they are, babe.” He said, kissing the top of your head. “A bunch of maniacs.”

Alternate Endgame
Summary: Fuck Endgame. Reader has precognitive abilities and we’re gonna fix this stupid movie.
Warnings: Cursing, endgame spoilers, maybe some tears?, fluff
WC: 4816
AN: It took me for-fucking-ever, and it is CRAZY long, but here it is.
Forever love to @writingwithadinosaur for CONTINUING to put up with my empty promises to write.
You woke with a start; heaving deep breaths that just couldn’t seem to fill your lungs. You were coated in a sheen of cold sweat. It had been months-- no, years since you'd had a premonition that strong, and you were more than a little shaken.
Not thinking you reached over for the man sleeping beside you, but your fingers only met cool sheets. Of course they did. It had been 5 years since Sam had… disappeared, he wouldn’t simply reappear in your bed because you’d had a vision. No matter how much you wanted him to.
Before Thanos, Sam had been there for you. You’d started as teammates, then friends, then more. Sam was everything. He was sweet, funny, and loyal. The fact that he was gorgeous certainly didn’t hurt either. He’d helped you process your visions. He’d hold you, press kisses to your temple, and let you talk through what happened if you could. If you couldn’t he was more than up to distract you. God you missed him. You missed his touch, you missed his voice, missed the tiny birds he’d draw on your mirror, or mission paperwork, or the small bird figurines he’d hide throughout your room. It hurt even more intensely, waking from a vision after so long, and finding him still gone.
As moments passed, and your breathing became less panicked, your mind began to clear, and details of your vision slowly, but clearly came back. Pain, a lot of pain, and death. There was hope, you thought for a second that you’d heard Sam’s voice… but there was so much risk involved. And the deaths you saw… you couldn’t take anymore death.
FUCK no. You wouldn’t let it happen like that. No way.
Knowing that sleeping again would be impossible, you dragged yourself out of bed, intending to make coffee, but paused at your bedroom door. Turning abruptly, you walked instead to your closet. Reaching onto the top shelf, you pulled down a large zip top bag with a few of Sam’s sweatshirts inside. You pulled one out and quickly re-sealed the bag. Bringing the fabric to your face and inhaling the lingering scent of detergent, cologne, and Sam, had fresh tears springing in your eyes. But it also brought a sense of determination, and confidence.
Sam was with you. He wasn’t gone permanently, and he believed in you. He loved you.
Pulling the sweatshirt over your PJs, you left your room with a new sense of purpose.
…
The Aether; the reality stone. One of 6 infinity stones that had enabled Thanos’s snap. It had been given to the collector many years ago, and it was your only hope.
Of course, that was assuming that the rest of your team figured out the whole time travel thing.
Exhaling, you shook your head in disbelief. Time travel.
Aliens, gods, titans, and now time travel.
Before Carol had brought Tony and Nebula back, time travel would have been as ridiculously out of reach as it sounded. But with Tony back? You could see time travel being a distinct possibility, and a quick one.
Tony was refusing to help, which hurt, but you understood. He didn’t want to risk losing his daughter. Given how life seemed to take from Tony, his resistance made sense. Were Morgan your daughter, you wouldn’t risk her either.
Although, caution didn’t sit well with Tony Stark. You had a feeling he would be unable to keep himself from at least trying to work out time travel now that he had an idea. He would try, and probably tweak his equation until it functioned flawlessly.
Tony would figure it out. And when he did, he would feel obligated to help; he wouldn’t be able to keep the knowledge that the team needed away from them. That meant you needed to learn as much as you could about the Aether before Tony figured out time travel. If it were anyone else, you would have had plenty of time.
Your original plan, to ask Thor, was a non-starter. The god of thunder had been through the fucking ringer. Honestly, you were shocked he was doing as well as he was. As soon as you could, you planned to sit with him awhile. Nothing invasive, but you got the feeling he wanted to talk, but didn’t know where to start.
Dr. Banner was able to fill in some blanks for you, but not enough.
Thankfully, once you were able to contact him, Wong was a veritable treasure trove of information. He was able to walk you through the process of using an infinity stone, being that he was the only one left alive who had done so in the past. Or, almost the only one.
“Rocket,” you called. The small creature had been across the room, talking to Thor, but came over as you waved him to you. “I need your help.”
“With what?” he seemed genuinely curious, and then a little taken aback when you began to explain.
“I’m not sure you’ve been told what I can do,” you began. When Rocket shook his head, you explained your premonitions.
“And these visions are always accurate?” he asked, his furry little face serious.
“Yes. The visions are accurate, but meant as a warning. So far, when I have interfered, the future has been altered, and whatever I’d seen could be avoided.” Then, you proceeded to tell him about the future you’d seen in your most recent vision. “I can’t- I won’t lose any more of my family, Rocket. This plan I have, I- it will work, but I need your help.” Your expression was beseeching.
The raccoon didn’t ponder long though. “What’d’ya need?”
“I need you to tell me as much as you can remember about when Quill held the infinity stone, and when we have to go and retrieve the fucking things, I need you to help me get a specific one.”
Luckily, Rocket was willing to trust you. Something told you he didn’t trust easily, especially not when what you were telling him couldn’t be proven one way or another, but he’d lost a lot of people too. It seemed he was ready to take a chance.
When it came time to be split into groups to collect the stones, Rocket helped to ensure you were on the team with him and Thor, headed to Asgard.
Next step. Rock climbing practice, a lot of it.
…
“Bruce, I need a favor.” You crossed your fingers, hoping he didn’t ask too many questions regarding your request.
Though Rocket knew a good portion of your plan, he didn’t know all of it. The fewer people who knew, the better. It wasn’t easy to convince Bruce to give you the extra pym particle. You’d stopped Scott from accidentally using one up, so there was one left, but Bruce was hesitant to give it to you. It wasn’t until your eyes began to water and your voice began to crack that Bruce caved; he couldn’t handle tears. Though you hadn’t planned to cry, it had worked in your favor.
Actually, the hard part was getting Bruce to keep his mouth shut about you having the extra particle. Bruce had a hard time lying to anyone. You needed everyone as in the dark as possible, especially Clint and Natasha, or your plan wouldn’t work.
…
“See you in a minute,” Natasha said with a smile. You gave a smile back, hoping it didn’t appear strained and took a deep breath before “jumping” to Asgard, ten years in the past.
Thor was thoroughly distracted, with good reason, so it was a good thing you had Rocket on your side.
“I hope you know what you’re doin’,” Rocket grumbled as you took the carefully contained Aether from him.
“You and me both,” you replied quietly.
“Good luck.”
You gave him a small smile before triggering your suit.
…
You appeared just far enough back that Nat and Clint didn’t hear you, but close enough that you could see them heading up one side of the mountain. They headed up the side that was clearly meant to be climbed, you however, went to the opposite side; a sheer rock face with a drop from an unbelievable height.
You’d received an odd look from Tony when you’d asked for a part of Peter Parker’s Spiderman suit. He’d given the gloves to you without asking the question that was clearly on the tip of his tongue, but you knew there would be many questions later as a result. The gloves’ grip wasn’t nearly as strong as it would have been for Peter, but they would be much better than nothing. Your other tools had been easy to obtain and stuff in a backpack; a combination ice axe and climbing hammer, pitons, carabiners and high strength climbing rope. Hopefully, the practice you’d managed would be enough.
Taking a deep breath you reached up and began your ascent. You needed to get as far up as you could and quickly, so that you could be in place and relatively stable when you needed to use the stone.
You forced the pitons into the rock face and secured yourself, freeing your hands and arms to use the stone, and more importantly, catch Natasha. The two tasks had to be done simultaneously, or your plan wouldn’t work.
Vormir’s guardian, and Clint needed to see Natasha fall, and believe she was dead in order to free the soul stone, but Natasha couldn’t die.
It felt like no fucking time had passed between when you finally anchored yourself and you could hear Nat and Clint arguing.
“Showtime.”
Using the stone, you warped reality around yourself not a moment too soon, as Natasha was suddenly hanging just above you.
“Damn you!” Clint shouted. Natasha had clipped him to an anchor she’d shot into the cliff, saving him, and now she was dangling from his outstretched arm.
“Let me go,” she said, almost calmly.
You knew in her mind, she was doing the right thing. Knew she was decided, resolved.
“No, please no,” Clint was crying. This would destroy him.
“It’s okay,” Natasha soothed ineffectively.
“Please-” Clint begged, but Natasha kicked off the cliff, forcing Clint to lose his grip.
For a moment, it felt like everything froze, then you blinked and reality seemed to split in front of you. You could see what you’d created for Clint and the guardian to see, but you could also see Natasha hanging safely from the second piton you’d secured just to the side of you.
“What the-” she broke off, seeing the distorted reality of herself falling to her death. When you reached over and touched her shoulder, her head whipped around, suddenly able to see you and the reality stone.
“What the fuck-” You silenced her with a finger to your lips. You weren’t sure whether or not you could be heard by Clint or the guardian. Waiting just a few seconds until you saw Clint disappear, you released the control you had on the stone and gestured for Natasha to trigger her suit to return home.
She looked like she really wanted to argue, but she did as you asked.
Clint’s knees hit the floor and he almost dropped the soul stone when he turned and saw Natasha standing beside him. Tears were flowing down his face and all sorts of nasty curses in a multitude of languages flew from his lips.
“Don’t you ever fucking do something like that again! Do you hear me, Tasha?! Fuck! You can’t give your life for mine. What the fuck were you- how did you-” Clint cut off and pulled Nat into a tight hug.
“I can’t promise never to do something like that again, Clint. I don’t know what happened. I thought-”. Natasha cut off too, tears in her eyes. She had been resolved to die to save Clint and the others, but she was glad she hadn’t had to.
“What exactly happened?” Bruce asked, looking from Nat and Clint to you.
“What?” Clint asked, looking from Nat to you.
“Ask them. I sure as fuck didn’t know what was happening,” Natasha said on a long exhale.
You noticed Rocket and Tony were also looking your way. When Nat pulled far enough away from Clint to face you, they both looked at you too.
All eyes on you. Great.
“Well, I had a vision…”
You explained part of your vision. To be fair, you would have explained the whole thing, you wanted to, but there was a niggling feeling at the back of your mind telling you that you weren’t done. You couldn’t tell everyone. It sucked, but your friends-- your family would understand. When it all worked out, you would tell them, but not yet.
…
The final tweaks were made to the new gauntlet. You watched as Tony, Rocket, and Bruce hovered around the thing, clearly unsure if it was ready.
But you were only barely watching. As Tony’s attention was drawn away, you drew over to his latest Iron Man suit. You’d talked with Rocket, and had some idea the power the stones would put out, with that in mind…
“FRIDAY, could I bother you for a moment?” you asked politely.
“Of course. What can I do for you?”
…
Not a fucking moment after Bruce snapped his fingers and the compound was totaled. Most of the structure was underground, along with several of the team.
Shit.
The worst part of having premonitions was that you couldn’t see everything. The visions would scare the shit out of you, and give you just enough information to run on, but never the whole picture. Thus, you found yourself running with Clint and Natasha through an underground maze of destruction trying to avoid the fucked up alien hoard that was chasing you.
ANY of that information would have been nice to know ahead of time.
It also would have been nice to know that a past version of Nebula was somehow in the present.
Fortunately that problem was “solved” when present nebula showed up and shot her past self… God you couldn’t wrap your head around all this shit.
A fight was underway as you cleared the tunnels, and it did not look good for your side. Although you noticed with a little shock, that Steve was holding Mjolnir. Or he was until Thanos knocked it from his hand, and cracked his shield.
All you could see then was Steve, barely standing, alone, facing an army increasing in size. Your heart was racing. You knew Steve wouldn’t give in. You hadn’t seen him die, but that didn’t mean his life wasn’t at risk. Fuck! What were you going to do?!
Then a voice you hadn’t heard in years crackled over the comms, “Hey, Cap, you read me? Cap, it's Sam. Can you hear me?” and a glowing yellow portal appeared next to Steve. “On your left.”
Seeing Sam, in his Falcon suit, fly through the portal, you almost hit the ground.
“Sam,” you whispered, tears in your eyes, but a growing smile on your face.
“Hey babe, miss me?” You could hear the smirk on his face, and though it would have bothered you before, it made you laugh now.
Your team had a chance. Hundreds of portals opened and thousands of people poured from them. You could vaguely hear chanting from the Wakandans, and see glowing shields being formed by the masters of the mystic arts. New hope and resolve formed in your chest.
“Every fucking day, Sam. Now let's end this so I can yell at you for disappearing on me.” He laughed, and you both ran into the hoards of Thanos’ followers.
…
Unfortunately, though the reinforcements were amazing, and desperately needed, Thanos and his army weren’t backing down.
Carol powered through ships, and struggled with Thanos, but she couldn't overpower him. When you saw her fall, and Tony began approaching the giant murder grape, you recognized your time to act.
“Carol,” you called as she rose, shaking debris from her hair. When she met your eyes, you waved her over. During the fight, you’d managed to speak to Thor, Dr. Strange and Wanda. They all knew you had a plan, though Strange seemed dubious, and they had all agreed to help. The fact that you’d managed to corral them all was a fucking miracle in and of itself, but what you were about to do, was still gonna be difficult.
Your group managed to stay out of Tony’s field of vision. What he was about to attempt, had to happen. What you needed was to reach him in time to alter the aftereffects.
“I am– inevitable,” Thanos announces, snapping his fingers, which would have been gut wrenching, had the mad titan actually had the infinity stones in his gauntlet.
However, unbeknownst to him, Tony Stark had swiped them right out of his hands. Tony Stark, who was now pulsing with immense amounts of gamma radiation and pure power from the ancient relics.
“And I– am– Iron Man.” Tony snapped his fingers. That was your cue. You, and the most powerful teammates you had, reached out, and took Tony’s left hand. Power and pain radiated through your body. And that was all you remembered.
…
The rocky ground beneath you was not comfortable, but you were barely aware of the sharp stones digging into your back since your whole body felt like you’d been in a car accident.
“Fucking ow,” you groaned.
“Well what did you expect? Trying to divert that level of radiation; you’re lucky your crazy stunt didn’t kill you!” Dr. Strange was in full lecture mode it seemed. You could hear Thor and Carol talking just behind you, and when you cracked your eyes open, you caught a glimpse of Wanda’s magic trailing behind her. Your eyelids felt like there were hundred pound weights on them. Why couldn’t you keep them open?
Wait!
It took a full second and a half for your brain to re-engage; quickly recapping the past few days. You bolted into an upright sitting position, all but shrieking in pain as your gritty eyes frantically searched for one figure amidst hundreds.
“Hey kid, you gonna explain all this to me now? I don’t like being in the dark.” You looked directly behind you and burst into tears. Tony was looking at you with a slightly exasperated look on his face, belayed by the small smile on his lips.
“It worked,” you sobbed.
“I don’t know what all has been going on in this place, but I know you’re not supposed to be upset that we won,” came Sam’s voice. He walked up behind Tony, clapping him on the back as he stepped past him to crouch down beside you. “Hey, Gorgeous. I missed you.”
A wet laugh exploded from your chest, “I fucking missed you too, Sammy.” Your eyes overflowed and your smile wobbled as he rested his forehead on yours.
“It’s okay. I’m here. I’m here, and I’m not going anywhere. I love you,” he soothed, cupping the side of your face and rubbing across your cheekbone with his thumb. He was home. Sobs shook you, and you knew it would be a while before you were able to stand. Or it would have been if Sam hadn’t picked you up and insisted on carrying you.
He didn’t let you out of his sight for several days.
…
It was actually weeks later, after some of the rubble had been cleared from where the compound once stood, before you finally explained what had happened.
Not everyone was able to cram into Tony’s living room, so some people; Dr. Strange, and King T’challa and his people were there via remote communication. Rocket had even rigged up some sort of communications device into the Guardian’s ship so they could hear too.
“I had a vision,” you started. You were sitting in Sam’s lap, across from most of your family. Natasha sat in an armchair, with Clint perched on the arm. They’d both gone home to see his family almost immediately after the fight, but they both insisted on hearing what had happened.
Scott and Hope shared a couch. Bruce stood just behind it.
Steve and Bucky were standing next to each other just to the side of you and Sam. They weren’t standing beside you, they wanted an explanation just as much as the others, but the two men were close with Sam, so it seemed they wanted to show that they supported you, as his girlfriend.
Tony was in an armchair across from Natasha and Clint. Thor stood behind his chair, and Wanda sat on the floor between the couch and Tony’s armchair. Even Carol was there, she sat backwards on a kitchen chair that she’d dragged into the room.
“We figured as much,” Tony replied. He smiled as his daughter ran into the room and all but threw herself onto Tony’s lap. He picked her up and situated her comfortably before continuing. “What exactly did your vision show.”
“For the most part, I saw just what happened. I saw you figure out the time travel thing. I saw us split into teams to get the stones. That's where I intervened,” you paused. Sam gave your hip a gentle, supportive squeeze. You hadn’t told him what you’d seen yet, but he knew you. Knew you were trying to say something that had gone horribly wrong.
“I asked Bruce for the extra Pym charge, and I asked Rocket for some information, and to help me get on the team that went to Asgard.”
You saw Thor straighten then. He’d begun to take care of himself again, though you knew he was still overwhelmingly sad and lonely, he seemed to be working his way out of the deep rut he’d been in. “I don’t recall actually getting the stone. I was too distracted by my- my mother. Rocket did not show me the stone either. I just assumed he had it.” Thor looked at you, an unidentifiable emotion on his face. “Why did you need to be on our team?”
“I needed the reality stone. Wong and Rocket helped me get an idea of how to use it. And then I needed the extra Pym charge to take me to Vormir.”
Natasha’s brow furrowed. “I was supposed to die, wasn’t I?” she asked calmly. Clint stiffened beside her.
“No, you died in my vision. You weren’t supposed to die. That’s why I fixed it,” you gave her a look that brooked no argument, and she smiled in return.
“I used the stone to make it look like Natasha had died. Clint and Vormir’s guardian had to believe that it had happened. The only way to get the stone was-”
“To lose what you loved,” Clint finished for you. You nodded. “I had to believe it or it wouldn’t have worked.” You nodded again, though he hadn’t phrased it as a question.
“I’m really sorry you had to see that, Clint, but it was the only way I could think to make it work.” You really were sorry. You knew Clint sometimes woke from horrible nightmares, occasionally about his family disappearing again, but also about seeing Nat fall.
He shook his head, and you let the subject lie.
“No wonder you were so fucked up when we all got back,” Steve said quietly to Clint. Then he turned to you. “That’s not it, is it?”
“No.” You looked to Tony.
“The suit wouldn’t have held that much power,” Tony concluded. “I didn’t think it would, but I didn’t have the time to strengthen it. I just didn’t know-”
“I know,” you said. “I had FRIDAY make some tweaks when you weren’t looking.” If it was possible to look proud and affronted at the same time, that’s how you would have described Tony’s expression. “Then, using the info I’d gotten from Rocket, I figured out how to displace the power, instead of letting it hit you alone.” You nodded at Carol, Thor, and Wanda. “I pulled the strongest people I knew, and lined us all up behind you before grabbing your shoulder just as you used the stones. The power was distributed to all of us, and we were able to hold, and diffuse it with no ill effects. I don't think it’s something anyone could have thought to do in the moment, it only happened because I had that vision.” You looked at Nat and Tony again. “After all we’ve been through, I couldn’t live in a world without you guys. Any of you,” you added, looking at everyone.
Tony had his arm wrapped tight around Morgan. And you heard a muffled sob from just behind you, turning a little, you saw Pepper. You winced, you hadn’t intended her to hear this. She saw your expression and shook her head. “Thank you,” she mouthed before walking to Tony’s side. She gave him a kiss and held his free hand in a death grip.
Clint had a grip on Nat’s hand too. White lines formed at the corners of Thor’s mouth, and Wanda looked like she was having trouble processing all the emotions in the room, but her eyes focused on you.
“Why didn’t you tell us all this?” Bruce asked; he’d been quiet the whole time, though he’d known you had something going on earlier than most.
“I was afraid that if I said something, it would change something. I had no clue what was safe and what wasn’t and I knew-” you cut off, shifting to grip Sam’s hand, clearing your throat. “I knew if everything happened as it should, the dusted people would come back. I couldn’t risk that getting fucked up, just like I couldn’t let what I saw happen to Tony and Nat.” You squeezed Sam’s hand. “I’m sorry I kept this from you all, but I really couldn't risk it.” You closed your eyes, tilting your face to look at the floor.
You heard someone approaching, and felt Sam shift, but you didn’t open your eyes until you felt a hand on your shoulder. Natasha stood in front of you. As you looked up at her, you heard another set of footsteps approach. Tony appeared behind her. Steadily, your whole family came close. Natasha pulled you up, and into a tight hug. You felt Sam rise from behind you, he kept a hand on your hip. Tony put a hand on your shoulder, squeezing. Steve gripped your other shoulder. Bruce had a hand on one of your arms, which were around Natasha, and Clint gripped your hand. Looking around the room at the others, you saw pain, and gratitude in every face.
“Don’t keep shit like that to yourself again, you hear me?” Natasha grumbled, tears in her voice keeping her tone from being very threatening.
You let out a choked laugh. “I’ll do my best.”
“Clearly your best is damn good. I’ll take that any day,” Tony said. Tears were in his eyes, and there were tracks of them on his cheeks. “You did a good job, kid.”
“We’re proud of you.” Steve gave you a smile. Clint met your gaze and though his eyes were still warry, he gave you a smile, squeezing your hand.
Sam’s hand ran up and down your lower back as Natasha and the others stepped back. “You’re amazing, baby. You did good, just like always.” He wrapped his arm around you from behind and pressed a kiss to your temple.
Everyone settled back into their seats before Steve spoke again. “Is that all you changed? Nothing else we need to know.”
You laughed a little, drawing everyone's gazes again. “Well I did change one more thing, it wasn’t big though.”
“What was it?” Steve asked.
“I kept Scott from accidentally using a Pym Particle when he was talking about how they worked. That was the only way I could have one to use.”
Hope rolled her eyes, “seriously, Scott?” Clearly she was well aware of Scott’s inability to be smooth.
Scott’s face was beet red, but laughter filled the room. It seemed that the group would be able to move on from the news after all.
“I wasn’t gonna use it!” Scott insisted.
“If you had to be stopped, then yes, you were going to use it,” Hope argued, rolling her eyes. “You’re hopeless.”
The room filled with laughter and you felt a weight lift off your shoulders. Leaning back into Sam, you let a long sigh escape you. It was over. The world was readjusting to having its missing members back, and after 5 years, you knew it would take a while, but, looking around the room, you had hope for the future.
You had your family after all. Your family, and your Sam. Everything was as it should be.

nothing can harm you | Poe Dameron x Reader | Part Two
A/N: You guys liked this! So yay! I had it in mind for so long, but wasn’t sure if people would enjoy it. But you do and thank you
Rating: T but maybe M for subject matter
Warning: Implications of abuse because reader spent probably all or most of her life being trained to be a slave, and those conditions are going to be strict and likely violent. She’s very restricted and quite timid. Legit her first instinct when in a bedroom is to give Poe a blowjob (she doesn’t) even though she probably has never given one before, but she’s been well-trained in how to do so. Naughty words.
Word count: 1,924, apparently!!
Summary: Poe’s figured out what to do with you, and he’s gonna try his hardest to do good by you. Even though you’re terrified of him. And he’s never actually been responsible for someone before. But he feels driven to show you the kindness and happiness you evidently never experienced before, because you need this and maybe some part of him that longs to make a real difference needs it, too.
Part One
GIF credit: No idea, but it’s not mine.

"Poe, when I said to always keep an eye out for new recruits, this isn't what I meant."
He usually liked it when Leia's sense of humor came out, but with you cowering next to him, Poe wasn't all that into it at the moment. "What am I supposed to do now?"
She gave him an all too familiar look that told him that he never thought anything through and did things on the fly. It briefly changed to sympathy as she eyed your trembling form, then she looked at Poe again. "Get her some clothes," she said in a tone and with a look that made him think that should have been obvious.
It didn't take too much coaxing to get you to follow him out of the room, which was pretty nice.
When he'd landed at the base and told you it was time to get out, you launched out of his lap and onto the dashboard of his ship. He told you about four hundred times that you were okay and that no one was going to hurt you, before you reluctantly got out with him and walked with him to the command center.
Probably because you were scared he'd hurt you if you didn't.
He brought you down a corridor where a supply closet full of perfectly folded clothing sat, waiting to be needed by somebody. He took out a simple shirt and pants, and held them out for you to take. "So you can change in— what the—"
You immediately stripped off what little you already had on. Poe dropped the clothing in his haste to make himself as big as possible, to make sure that if anyone would come down the hallway, they wouldn't be able to see you.
Unless they came from the other end of the hall, in which case they wouldn't get too much of a view.
"What are you doing?" He kept his gaze on your face. All you did was stare at him, before picking the clothes up and pulling them on. "I was gonna say that you could change in your temporary quarters."
You stared at him. He gave up and guided you a few doors down, to a vacant room you could stay in until they got you set up.
Assuming you stayed, anyway.
You looked around the room, at the bed and then at him, and then you moved to your knees.
He wasn't sure what the hell was going on until you reached for his pants.
"Nope! No!" He grabbed onto your upper arms and hauled you back to your feet. You looked terrified and he felt like a dick, but he wasn't about to let you try to please him. "What did they do to you? Huh?"
You didn't answer him.
"Can you even talk?" He watched you bite your lip, before you nodded. "Did they hurt you when you tried to talk?" Another nod made him want to go to that planet and do things he would probably regret. "I'm not gonna hurt you for talking. I'm serious. Why don't you tell me your name? It's okay."
You seemed to be in a war with yourself for a long moment. "I don't have one," you finally spoke softly, flinching back in case there was any retaliation.
If his heart hadn't broken for you before, it definitely did now.
"Okay. You're okay. We'll figure something out." He ran a hand over his face, looking at you thoughtfully. "Why don't we get you a little to eat?"
Poe had to make the whole dining hall clear out just to get you to go in; you were overwhelmed and terrified by the bustle that he became used to. He let you pick out whatever table you wanted to sit at, which you did so tentatively before watching him as he gathered food for you.
Ever since he set the plate in front of you no more than two minutes before, he'd been staring in wonder as you devoured the food like he would take it away at any moment.
It occurred to him that since you were clearly well-groomed into being a slave, you probably barely got a thing to eat.
He wondered why the First Order couldn't just destroy planets like that, then berated himself for his cruelty.
Though they sure as shit deserved it.
They were probably aligned with the First Order, so it didn't matter anyway.
He watched you pause your feast to gulp down an entire cup of water, which he took to refill just in case those assholes deprived you of the life-sustaining liquid, too.
You were halfway done with your plate when he sat back down. "Don't eat too fast."
"I'm sorry." You stopped eating immediately, pushing your plate away and lowering your gaze to your lap. "I didn't mean to...upset you." Your words came out slow and clipped from apparently being hurt every time you tried to talk before.
"You didn't upset me," he spoke as gently as he could because he didn't want you to be afraid of him. "I just don't want you to get hurt."
The moment was ruined, though, and you made no move to start eating again. He was happy that he got some food in you, since it was probably more than you'd had in weeks.
He guessed he was going to have to lead the way until you came into your own. You would likely be all too happy to curl in a ball, and you had way too much potential for him to let you sit around in fear.
"So you're free now. What do you wanna do?" He watched as you blinked, then you gave a small shrug. "You didn't dream about doing anything other than what they made you do?"
"I was under the impression that other things weren't meant for me," you said, your voice getting progressively smaller as your explanation went on.
He smiled. "You can do anything you want now. What do you want?"
Absolute shame crossed your face and you looked as if you were about to cry. "I don't know what there is." You gave a soft whine that nearly turned into a sob, but you quickly stopped yourself.
"—we'll figure that out." He'd be lying if he said your fear and sadness weren't getting his emotions worked up. He grabbed your plate and ignored your flinch with a clenched jaw, moving to dispose of it.
"What is there...sir?"
He paused for a short moment. "You call me Poe."
Your quick correction of "Yes, Poe," had him realizing his tone.
"Fuck, I didn't mean to say it like that." He moved back to the table and sat down. "You and me...we're equals. I don't want you to call me anything but my name."
"I understand."
He watched you nod, then focused on the question you had asked him. "You want me to tell you what there is to do?" Another nod. "There's a lot you can do. We have a lot of technicians that would love to have you."
"Have me?"
"No, not like that! Have you around to train you, get you repairing some of our ships. Or I could teach you how to fly, maybe? We can always use more pilots." He watched you as you furrowed your brow in thought. "Or, uh...there's plenty you can do here, and a lot more you can do outside of the Resistance. We just gotta take care of the First Order so you can be safe out there. Let's make this easier. What can you do?" He could see the concentration that came into your eyes as you tried to think of all your skills.
"Cook. Clean. Garden. Fuck."
"—I'm sure we can find something for you." His voice was slightly low, holding back anger and sadness because you were a being with as much potential as anyone else, and the monsters on that planet took it away from you; you never even had a chance, from what he could tell based on how 'well-trained' you were.
He was going to make sure you had every opportunity you could dream of. If the only real good he ever did was give a terrified, abused girl the life she should have, before he would inevitably die at the hand of Kylo Ren or some random stormtrooper, that would be more than good enough for him.
Even if all he managed was to get you off that planet, and the hands of the First Order would get him on his next mission, that would be okay too, because at least someone more capable than him could send you off into a happy life.
But you experiencing such difference and him meeting Kylo Ren's lightsaber were far off, as you gave a yawn that you quickly tried to hide in shame.
He didn't reprimand you for it because he was smart enough to know it would take time to break the habits that were drilled into you.
"When was the last time you got a good night's sleep?"
"Not ever."
"Come on." He stood up and held out his hand, and lowered it when you cringed away out of instinct. "You can just walk beside me."
"I would like that."
He lead you to the corridor that held the base's temporary quarters, opening the door to the room he showed you before. "It's time for you to get to bed, sweetheart. The mattresses are firm and the sheets are like leaves, but you don't really mind when you're exhausted."
You looked into the room, then confusedly at Poe. "I just go in and go to sleep?"
"That's your room for right now. You can do anything you want in there." He nodded at the doorway encouragingly, and you carefully stepped inside of it.
"You've had a long day and a long...everything, actually. Try to get a little sleep."
"Yes, Poe." You turned to look at him.
He gave you a smile and reached up to close the door, letting his shoulders droop with a sigh once he was out of your view.
He wasn't sure if he preferred having no idea what the hell to do with you, or knowing he needed to show you what life had to offer beyond what you were aware of.
They were equally terrifying. On the one hand, he didn't like not knowing what to do, and on the other, it was a big responsibility to make sure another person was happy and taken care of.
He could handle it, though, and you didn't deserve to have him quit on you because he didn't want to deal with it.
He did want to deal with it and he did want to see you happy. He was kind of hoping the First Order wouldn't kill him so he could be sure everything was good for you.
Big responsibility or not, it would be worth it.
It would be worth it in the morning, after he got his own much needed sleep. After being on that terrible planet and then doing his best to tend to you, he was even more excited for his uncomfortable bed with his stiff sheets. There were no missions from General Organa, so he could spend the day focusing on warming you up to him and looking for normal jobs you might enjoy doing.
As he practically fell onto his bed, he really hoped you wouldn't be afraid of him in the morning.

My Tag List - Here
Tony Stark x Reader
Word Count: 1,147
Key: Y/N = Your Name, H/C = Your Hair Color, E/C = Your Eye Color
Warnings: Cursing? Not sure if there really is anything else. Please let me know if I missed something.
Summary: After a rough day at work, you come home to a surprise from Tony.
Author’s Note: This was just a random idea that popped into my head but took forever to write because of my brain not being the kindest. But it happened and I’m not completely against it.
Thank you to the ever wonderful @witchymarvelspacecase for being there for me online and off-line. Thanks for reading my ramblings and making sense of them.
If you would like to be tagged in any of my future pieces, check out my tag list above and let me know! And as always, feedback is greatly appreciated!

- DreaSaurusREX
It was one of those days where you wanted nothing more than to just go home, curl up on the couch, and shut the rest of the world out. It had been a constant downward slope from the moment you got up in the morning. Somehow you’d managed to get up and get through the work day; It had just been your normal shift, but it had felt like it was twice as long.
As soon as the clock hit 6PM, you clocked out, grabbed your things, and were out the door. You were on your way to your car when your phone buzzed.
Tony - “Hey, sweetheart! You wanna do dinner tonight?”
You had been dating Tony Stark for about a year. Neither of you had expected to have a “real” relationship work out, but somehow or other, you both balanced each other, and you’d fallen in love.
Though he continued to be Iron Man, and a part of the Avengers, you weren’t really affiliated with them. Yes, you went to parties, and hung out with the team a lot (so much so that they were basically your family now), but you didn’t work with or for them and you didn’t live in the tower or compound with them.
You spent the night there frequently, but you still had an apartment on the outskirts of the city. You wanted to keep a part of what had been your somewhat normal life, even though your life was anything but that now. Having your apartment also helped Tony have an escape from the team and have a safe place, a place where he didn’t have to be Iron Man, or Tony Stark, a place where he could just be Tony. He came over pretty often, even if it was just for a meal or to spend time with you.
(Y/N) - “Hey! I think I’m just gonna go back to my place and find something in my fridge. I think I have leftovers from that chinese place the other night. Rough day. I can hear Netflix and my bed calling for me.”
Tony - “Okay. Avoid Turner Street. Major accident earlier that they still haven’t finished clearing. I love you. Let me know when you get home safe.”
(Y/N) - “Thanks, babe. Will do. Love you!”
And with that, you put on your recent favorite songs and began your drive home, avoiding Turner Street.
The drive was much more enjoyable thanks to Tony’s advice. You parked in your parking spot and saw that one of Tony’s nice cars was in the one next to yours. He had his own spot since he practically lived here too. You shut your eyes and took a breath, knowing exactly what Tony was doing here.
As soon as he read your text about having a rough day, he came over to surprise you.
“This little shit…” you couldn’t help but smile while muttering to yourself. You got your bag and headed up to your door. But as soon as you entered, you were met with many surprises.
You could hear AC/DC playing over a speaker, but it was much clearer than your little portable hand-me-down could manage. There was an unfamiliar beep as soon as you opened your door. Looking to the left, you saw a medium sized screen on your wall with a basic layout of your apartment and little white blocks in different sections. A security system?
Then there was a very familiar voice, Friday. You thought it was normal until you realized “I’m not with the team. How is she here?”
“Welcome Home, Ms. (Y/L/N).” Her smooth electronic voice sounded through the hidden speaker.
“Um… Thank you, Friday. But how--” You kept looking around your apartment. There was a new TV in your living room, new speakers, even new kitchen appliances, among other various Stark technologies sprinkled around the space.
Within seconds Tony popped his head out of your bedroom door and was making his way towards you. You couldn’t form complete sentences.
“Hey, you’re home!” He came over and kissed you, and you relished in the moment before freaking out again.
“What--”
“I’ve had this idea for awhile, but when I came over the other day to help with dinner and half the oven broke, I decided to start getting some upgrades for this place.” He took your hand and walked you through some of the major things. The tour ended with the security system.
“I know how much you worry about being home alone when I’m back at the compound or on a mission or when you spend the night with me. So this security system alerts you to every possible point of entry. I also decided to add in Friday so she could help you out. She can also alert me if anything happens here.”
He looked at your face and could tell what you were thinking, though it was more like worrying, about. You were overwhelmed and either worried about not deserving all this, or not being able to pay for it.
“Honey, I know what you’re gonna say--”
“What-- How the hell?! Tony, I can’t---”
“I already worked everything out when it comes to money or dealing with the apartment building. And I’ll make sure to teach you how to use everything without breaking it. If I can’t then Friday can always help.” Tony put a hand on your cheek and made you really look at him. “You don’t have to worry about anything.”
You brought your hand up to his and brought it away from your face, but kept it in your hand. You looked between him and around your now super-upgraded apartment. You were accepting that Tony had taken care of every worry you could have about almost anything, and he saw your face go from slightly overwhelmed with troublesome thoughts, to content and happy. After a lap around your kitchen and living room, you walked into Tony’s arms and hugged him.
“Thank you, Tony. I honestly don’t know what else to say.” You brought your hands to his face and pulled him into another kiss. He laughed as you finally calmed down a bit and began to enjoy everything.
“You’re welcome, sweetheart.” You both stood there and kissed for a moment longer before Tony broke it. “Alright, now, let get something for dinner. You’re not having leftovers from 4 days ago.”
You just stood and watched Tony walk into the new and improved kitchen, with nothing but love in your heart. He reached into the fridge and took out some ingredients before turning to you.
“Come on. You gotta play with your new toys.” He finished it with his signature smirk. He may have given you all of this new and fancy equipment, but Tony Stark was definitely the best upgrade you could have ever asked for in your life.

Just A Girl in Arkham (Jerome x reader) Part 2
Word Count: 2130 Warnings: ‘therapy’, blood, Galavans, murder. Take your pick. A/N: Okey Dokey, so obviously there will be more than two parts, sorry most of this was dialogue from the episode, and don’t worry, you’ll be back more next chapter.
It had been three weeks since you’d met Jerome. In those three weeks, you’d killed four people. Three guards and one patient. The asylum only knew about two of those murders. But, back to solitary you would go. You were sitting at a table with Jerome, straight jacket finally gone, when four guards charged into the room. They seemed to be looking for someone, and you quickly realized that someone was you. Ducking under the table just in time, you pulled Jerome under with you once they had gone. “What’s with the disappearing act, doll face?” He asked in amusement. You pressed a finger to your lips in response. Once you were sure the guards were out of hearing range, you answered him. “Those four souls that will not be missed,” you hinted. Jerome immediately caught on. “Well sugar, you know I think you’ve got balls to keep killing inside this mad house,” he said in admiration, “but you had to have known they’d find ‘em sooner or later.” You sighed. “I know, but they were just so…,” you made a face as you tried to find the word you were looking for, “there. Ugh, so annoying, and nagging. And that one creep with Babs…” “Hey, hey,” Jerome consoled you, rubbing your arms up and down in a comforting way, “it’s ok. You’ll be fine.” “No, I won’t, J.” You shook your head. “If I go back to solitary, I don’t get to see you.” He thought for a moment before a wide grin split across his face. “Well, we both know you’ll eventually be found, so how about a ‘going away’ surprise?” He offered. You slowly nodded and Jerome clapped his hands together excitedly. “Ok, close your eyes.” He instructed. You did so, and a moment later you felt his lips pressed against yours. They were slightly chapped, but still soft. You hummed and responded immediately. After several moments, you pulled away, both of you breathing heavily. “Hmm, you’re not too bad at that Valeska. Guess I’ll have to keep you around.” You said with a grin. “Ditto for you, sweets.” He said, tossing you a smile. At that moment, Barbra, (whom you had been getting along smashingly with.) decided to poke her head under the table. “Umm, Y/n, hun. Yea, they know you’re in here. I’d go peaceably. They’ve got sedatives and tasers.” She warned. You turned back to Jerome and smirked. “Showtime, babe.” You said, kissing him square on the lips one last time before crawling out from under the table. You stood up and instantly caught the guards eye. You noticed your doctor there, as well as about five more guards. “All this for me?” You asked, placing your hand over your heart and pretending to be flattered. “Patient number 6663, come forward with your hands on your head. Move slowly.” A large guard standing across the table from you instructed. You just grinned and shook your head, letting your hand drop. Out of the corner of your eye you could see Jerome get out from under the table. “Sorry kid, no go.” You said, still smiling. Your doctor spoke up. “Y/n, please do as they ask.” He pleaded. “You’ve really been doing so much better.” “Hmm,” you pretended to think about it. “Nope.” You jumped up onto the table and then the guard, wrapping your legs around his neck and squeezing until he fell over from lack of air. You stood and whipped your head around to find another guard advancing toward you. You dove to the floor and rolled before kicking his legs out from under him. Just as you were getting up, you felt something sting at your back, then your side, then two on your front. You felt the stings turn into jolts, and realized too late that they were electrocuting you with their tasers. This incapacitated you long enough for them to hold you down and force you into a transfer chair. Two hauled you up and forced you to sit in the chair while the others strapped down your wrists, forearms, ankles, calves, and thighs. Another strapped your head to the chair using a band that went over your forehead, and one that went around your chin. “Ha ha,” you laughed humorlessly. “Ya got me!” You said loudly. Although you were being forced to look in the same direction, you could see guards holding Jerome and Barbra back with your peripheral vision. You contemplated telling them you’d be fine, but decided against it when the guards formed a circle around you, tasers pointed in your direction. Though you knew it made you seem even more unstable, you laughed softly the entire time the guards transported you to the solitary level of the asylum. However, when you stopped, you were not where you expected to be. Instead of the normal dingy cell with no windows, you were in front of a large door that read: ‘ELECTROTHERAPY’. You furrowed your eyebrows and sent a glare at your doctor. “I’m sorry, Miss L/n, I know I said I wouldn’t, but we’re running out of options for you.” Your doctor sighed as he opened the door. The guards brought you into the ‘therapy’ room, but if you were being honest, it looked more like a torture room. Everything was metal, except for the walls, which were painted stark white. A nurse hurried over and gave you a shot of a blue liquid. You growled at her and she scurried away quicker than she’d come. The drug affected you almost immediately. Looking around, everything was either fuzzy or blurry, the objects and people just shapes to you. The guards waited for the drug to reach maximum power before loosening the straps on you. You tried to get up and run, fight, do anything, but the second you stood up your legs quit, and three of the guards caught you roughly. They shoved you into a large metal chair, and although you were numb, you felt the cold metal biting at your skin. It wasn’t unlike a dentist’s chair; someone pushed a button and it laid back like a table. You felt your arms and legs being grabbed and held down by large hands. When the hands left your skin, thick strips of leather replaced them. And just like that, the drugs wore off. You could instantly feel heavy straps on your torso, up your legs, and down your arms. You smirked up at your doctor, whom you could see clearly now. “This is gonna be fun.” ---------------------------------------------------------
Jerome bolted upright. There it was again. It hadn’t stopped since you’d been taken down to solitary. He winced as it sounded yet again. Your screams, followed by your laughter. Not the laughter Jerome loved to hear; not the way you’d laugh when he told you a joke, or when you‘d plotted killing the guard who kept harassing Barbra. It was forced. Pained. And it broke Jerome’s heart. He fell back onto his stiff mattress, covering his head with his pillow. How your screams managed to carry up to the first level, Jerome had no idea. He could only imagine what they were doing to you, and it was killing him. ------------------------------------------------------------
Two weeks. Two weeks you’d been in solitary. Jerome had started to plan out a way to go see you. If this was torture for him, he couldn’t imagine how it was for you. Especially since you were the one actually being tortured. He was currently sitting at the table with Richard, Barbra, Greenwood, Helzinger, and Dobkins when Barbra suddenly announced she was bored. “I’m bored without Y/n. This is no fun. Someone tell a story.” She said, looking around from her position; laying on Richard’s lap. Said man spoke up after a moment, and began telling a story about playing polo in collage. Not very far into the story, a fat, pale man with strange hair stumbled into the common area. “I am Zaardon, the Soul Reaper!” He announced loudly, as if he expected everyone to be afraid of him. Everyone simply stared at him for a moment before going back to what they were talking about, Richard returning to his story. He tried again to make himself seem important, getting up on the table to do so. Still, no one paid him any mind, that is, until he fell over. Barbra shot him a semi-interested expression, and everyone else followed suit once a blue smoky substance began to pour out of his mouth. Barbra placed a hand over her mouth and began coughing violently. Richard next, then Jerome, until everyone was convulsing fiercely. One by one, they dropped like flies. The last thing Jerome made out before going dark was a woman walking in through the gates. --------------------------------------------------------
“What the hell is this place?” Greenwood was the first to speak, bringing anyone who was still asleep into consciousness. Jerome frowned as he noticed he was strapped to a trolley type piece of metal. “It ain’t Arkham, anyhow. Things are looking up!” Jerome said as he looked over at the cannibal, his face lighting up at the end of his sentence. “Welcome!” A new voice brought all eyes to the man who’d just walked in. “Everyone, my name is Theo Galavan, this is my sister, Tabitha.” He gestured to the beautiful African American woman behind him. Some of the boys started making inappropriate noises at her, and Theo held up his hand to silence them. “I understand you’re feeling confused, scared, a little groggy, but please relax. Today is the first day of a wonderful future for all of you if you want… well now, the question is, who are you?” He began walking down the line. “The world sees criminal lunatics, I see brilliance, I see charisma, and power...” he trailed off as he approached Barbra. “I see power.” He said softly. “Yes, my man, exactly,” Jerome interrupted, smiling widely,” it is so spooky, that is me to a T. These other bozos, I don’t know, but you’re singing my song.” “Quiet, Jerome. That’s enough.” Richard cut him off in a scolding tone. “Imagine a group of brilliant outlaws like yourself, each selected for their unique ability all working together as a team, imagine the synergy, imagine the impact…Gotham would tremble before you.” Theo finished his little speech, walking up to Richard. “Well that sounds fabulous,” Barbra spoke up, gaining Theo’s attention,” but I’m not a brilliant outlaw, I just have, hmm,” she thought for a second,” issues.” She decided. “You have ferocity, and beauty, and desire, and that’s enough. Come with me Barbra,” Theo spoke, hooking a finger under Barbra’s chin,” whatever you want in the world, it’s yours.” “Theo, that’s your name, right?” Richard piped up, drawing Mr. Galavans attention away from Barbra. “Theo, you’re getting way ahead of yourself here, first of all, keep your hands off her, second this whole magic team, I gotta pass. I don’t take orders. Good luck on everything though, it’s an intriguing concept.” “This is very disappointing,” Galavan said, frowning. “Oh,” Richard scoffed, “fair play. You want a reward for busting us out of Arkham? I am grateful. How does a million bucks sound, pretty good? I can get it for you today, as soon as I hit the street.” “Money’s not the concern. I had such high hopes for you, and any anticipated sexual jealousy that poisons the well…you have to go, Tabitha will see you out.” A few men untied Richard, and he shook out his shirt before walking towards Barbra. “Miss Kean is coming with me.” He stated. “Oh, she doesn’t want to go where you’re going.” Theo said in a bored tone. At that moment, Tabitha snapped the whip that had been at her side up, and encircled Richard’s neck. Pulling back harshly, she threw him on the ground in front of her while everyone watched. She briskly walked over to him and straddled him, pulling out a knife and stabbing it repeatedly into his chest. Blood splattered across Greenwoods face. Barbra was breathing heavily, and Jerome was laughing at the scene in front of him. Tabitha looked up at her brother with a dark smile on her face. “Anyone else want to leave?” Theo asked. Everyone shook their heads slightly. “Good.” He said, turning to go. “Mr. Galavan!” Jerome called after him, and he froze, turning to face the ginger. He raised an eyebrow at him and waited for him to speak. “I have a request.” Jerome said, smiling.

Funny, you hadn’t realized how annoying that faint buzzing sound in your head had been until it stopped. You couldn’t figure out what the noise was, or when it had begun, but it was familiar, like you’d heard it before.
Odd.
All you could focus on was that sound. You were vaguely aware that there was something else, something important that you needed to be paying attention to, but you couldn’t seem to remember what.
“Weird,” you thought. But what was weirder, was the fact that the memory lapse wasn’t concerning. All you could focus on was that buzzing. Where had it come from? And why, when it stopped, did it leave a ringing in its place?
It felt like your head was full of bells.
…
Y/N’s eyes glazed over. Her facial muscles relaxed, and suddenly she was just… gone. The Angel stood in her place, and it took the team a moment to notice. That moment cost Natasha a gash across her cheek and a sizable chunk of her hair as she shoved Tony out of the way of a dagger that Y/N had been carrying just a second ago.
“Clear the fucking room!” Nat shouted as she evaded the next blow, aimed for her torso. Not that her command was taken as one. Tony was in his element already. His suit was engaged and covered his body seconds after Natasha had pushed him out of the way. Clint, who already had a full arsenal of weapons on his person was also clearly planning to stay in the room. That left Steve and Bruce.
Steve would fight literally anyone, but Bruce, he was best kept out of a fight until there were no other options. As the already injured party, Natasha pulled Bruce from the room herself, leaving Steve, Clint & Tony to handle the Angel. All they had to do was incapacitate her and get her back into the cell. At least that was all she hoped they had to do.
“FRIDAY, lock down the lab until given further instructions,” Natasha called as she pulled Bruce through the doors.
The doors swung closed and a loud series of clicks could be heard immediately after.
“That’s only gonna hold her off for maybe a minute,” Bruce said as he jogged down the hallway. “She can hack that.”
“All it has to do is hold her back long enough for the guys to incapacitate her.”
“Do you really think that’ll work?” Natasha shot him a look. “I read the reports from your fights with Barnes. Incapacitation is not gonna be easy. We need a backup plan for when this goes even further into shit.”
“FRIDAY, locate Sergeant Barnes!”
…
Bucky was halfway to the common room when he was practically knocked over by not one, but two people. Bruce and Natasha came sprinting down the hallway, stopping bare inches from him.
“What the-”
“Angel’s been activated.” Bruce couldn’t have gotten Bucky’s full attention any faster. “Tony, Steve and Clint are blocked in the lab with her.”
“They know to incapaci-” Natasha began.
“They can’t be aiming to incapacitate.” Bucky interrupted, his voice gaining a cold edge that hadn’t been there before. “She’ll notice they aren’t willing to hurt her, she’ll take advantage of that. They can’t be worried about hurting her or they’re toast.” Bucky was halfway to the lab before he realized it.
…
Bucky was right. With the men unwilling to potentially cause damage, the Angel was wiping the floor with them. No one had fought with her enough to have learned her style, or her tells. Only Clint had spent any time in combat with her, but that barely counted considering they’d been protecting each other. Already, Tony’s suit was nearly useless. It provided protection against her knife blows, but the electronics were overtaxed. Y/N was smart, and the Angel was ruthless. The chip in her head would already have made her a threat, Tony had hoped that HERMES would have been a bit of a safeguard, but she had overwhelmed HERMES’ safety protocols in seconds.
“I know this is a bad time, but I really gotta remember to offer this kid a job when she’s done trying to kill us,” Tony half-shouted as the Angel forced him back. That was when the hydraulics in the legs of his suit jammed. He couldn’t release the suit, and he couldn’t move his legs. “Well fuck.”
Steve had no shield, and Clint didn’t have his arrows, but they were both doing what they could. Neither had an issue using whatever they could find as a weapon. Their biggest problem was that the Angel had more knives on her than either of them realized, and they were both bleeding.
Even worse, if ever she was left without an opponent, the Angel was at a computer terminal. Tony shouted at FRIDAY to close all access, but it was likely a moot point.
…
Bucky, Natasha, and Wanda rounded the corner at a sprint just as a shattering sound filled the hall. Steve had been thrown through a wall, and he’d taken what had been a large and probably insanely expensive piece of equipment through the wall with him.
Natasha cursed and moved to help Steve up. As they’d run back, she had taken a moment to arm herself, and though she would have rather had her widow bites, she felt better with a gun in her hands.
Bucky and Wanda advanced, sharing a quick look. Wanda would try to enter Y/N’s mind, if that wasn’t possible, she would restrain Y/N until Bucky could release her.
A horrible metallic screech echoed in everyone’s ears a moment before Tony, in his Ironman suit, flew through the hole that Steve had made just moments before.
“She’s on the workstation. No idea what she’s into, but I’m not optimistic,” Tony groaned, pulling himself from his now useless suit.
Bucky quick-peeked through the hole.
...
It felt like hours had gone by, but you still couldn’t place that buzzing sound and the ringing wasn’t stopping. It wasn’t annoying, but you did wish it would stop. You had the oddest sensation that there was something you were supposed to be doing, but that noise; you just couldn’t focus on anything else.
…
Clint was dancing just out of the Angel’s reach; close enough to provide a distraction, but managing to avoid most of her attacks.
The Angel’s emotionless mask was beginning to show a shadow of rage.
Wanda’s eyes were glowing red as she reached for Y/N’s mind, only to come up against what seemed like a solid wall. A solid, cold, and translucent charcoal barrier blocked Wanda’s access to Y/N’s mind. She could see the other woman’s mind, or at least where it should be, but there was no way she would be able to get through that wall; not quickly, and not without trauma to Y/N’s mind. She moved to her second option; restraint. Her tendrils of power wrapped around the Angel like a vice, and clamped her as tightly as possible.
“This won’t last long,” Wanda warned, strain already evident in her voice.
Bucky moved into the room then. He didn’t hurry, or hide himself, but strode slowly, and purposefully towards the Angel, maintaining eye contact the whole time.
“Mission report,” he demanded, hopeful that the Angel would recognize him as had happened before.
She looked at him, assessing, but instead of answering him, she struck out, or at least she tried to. Wanda’s power held her, but only just.
The second time the Angel attempted to break free, she succeeded, and Wanda dropped like a puppet with its strings cut.
Bucky was on the defensive as the Angel swung sharp, and well aimed knives in his direction. It actually took him a moment to remember that he was trying to deactivate her.
What should have been easy; touching her with his metal arm, was nigh on impossible. It appeared, some part of the Angel was aware of Bucky’s ability to shut her down. Every time Bucky reached toward her, she evaded.
Clint and Steve were helping, and though three men, two of whom were well armed, were against her, the Angel wasn’t slowed. Despite her injury, she was flaring her wings, alternatively hiding and freeing them, and using them to force her opponents back and away from her.
The men were all unwilling to harm her, and like Bucky said, she noticed and took full advantage. The Angel didn’t give a shit if she got hurt, she was focused on killing her opponents.
Exhaling sharply, Bucky ducked a knife before swinging out his own. As much as he didn’t want to hurt Y/N, the Angel would decimate him and his friends if they stayed on the defensive.
Bucky had expected Steve to be the one to adapt to his change of pace first, but to his surprise, Barton was right beside him. They hadn’t fought together much in the past, but the archer seemed to pick up his style almost immediately.
Clint was at his back, and despite his wounds, the two of them were able to corner the Angel. It took three of Clint’s hidden daggers to pin one of Y/N’s soft, dove grey wings to the wall, and even then, Bucky took a deep gash to his thigh before his left arm finally came in contact with the side of the Angel’s neck. Her body froze a moment, before she began to shake violently.
“Pull the blades out, Barton. And grab any of hers you can find,” Buck muttered, keeping his hand, and eyes, on Y/N. Her mind was being split in two. Hoping he could help, Bucky started talking.
“Ya know, I never thought I had a fear of heights, or fallin’. I guess that developed after the train. Never knew the name for it, though, I don’t think I cared much really. Don’t know why you went and learned about phobias. Maybe you’ll tell me one day.” As Bucky talked, Clint moved slowly around to Y/N’s other side, checking her for weapons. He moved steadily, not hiding, but not moving too quickly as to draw her attention. “Didja learn about phobias to keep yourself occupied? I had a hard time with that too. Wanda suggested photography. I thought it was dumb at first, but I have a couple different cameras now. I take pictures of all sorts of weird stuff, or at least Sam tells me it's weird. I just like how it looks, ya know?
“Sometimes I just see somethin’, and I don’t recognize what it is right away, I just know it looks cool, or whatever. Then Sam sees the picture and gets all ‘why’d you take a picture of a sewer grate, Barnes?’”, Bucky mimicked Sam’s voice, and brushed some hair off Y/N’s forehead using his right hand. His left, stayed where it was, on the side of her neck, the fingers along the back, and his thumb rubbing from the front to the side gently. “Birdbrain just doesn’t understand art.” When he paused, unsure of what to talk about, Y/N blinked and her head fell forward, her forehead meeting Bucky’s chest.
“Y/N? Doll, you okay?”
“Oh god,” she groaned, her voice gravelly, “What did I do?”
…
Looking around the lab, you felt your heart in your throat.
The moment Bucky’s vibranium hand touched you, the ringing cut out, leaving utter silence for all of a millisecond, before it seemed like the world went into fast-forward; the volume increased to ear shattering levels. Part of your mind tried to cling to the silence that had been shattered, the other desperately tried to make sense of the movie clips being played in your mind’s eye.
That movie was all you would get. The only parts of your time as the Angel that you would be able to recall would come from this, but no matter how hard you tried, you could only catch brief glimpses. Only remember tiny snapshots. Even watching a recording, you couldn’t recall everything that happened. You couldn’t remember the ringing sound at all, nor the silence; your brain was overloaded.
“Y/N?”
Bucky. You mentally latched onto his voice. Reaching slowly, you rested a hand on his metal forearm, letting the feel of the cool vibrainium ground you further.
You took a deep breath before speaking again. “Put me back in the cell.” Your voice only shook a little.
“Doll, ya don’t-”
“Please.” You wouldn’t let the tears fall, but they were blurring your vision. “Please put me back in the cell. I can’t trust myself.”
It was Clint and Natasha who came forward. Natasha offering you support as she walked with you to the cell, and Clint stepping to Bucky’s side as they watched you leave.
Wanda was sitting up, leaning back against the wall and rubbing her temples, and Bucky moved to crouch by her.
“She feels out of control. The cell offers a sense of security,” Wanda spoke softly. “It’s not that she feels at fault, James. She just doesn’t feel it’s safe for us.”
It wasn’t that Bucky didn’t understand. Hell, that had been his reason for going back on ice in Wakanda, he just really didn’t like the lost, fractured look on your face when you realized what had happened.
“Do we know how to clear her triggers?” Steve asked, pinching the bridge of his nose.
Tony brushed debris off his arms and shoulders and crossed the room to a largely undamaged computer terminal. “Yeah, we know how Barnes’ were cleared, but his were specific to one language. FRIDAY?”
“Still here, boss.”
“Scan Y/N once she’s settled in the cell. We’re gonna go through her brain with a fucking microscope.”
“Yes, boss. HERMES is disengaged, but functional. Should I reboot him?”
“Let’s give her a minute. She just got back in her head, let her adjust before we throw another voice at her.”
Bruce and Tony tossed ideas back and forth for a while after that. Bucky only understood every third word, but he wasn’t ready to leave just yet.
“Something in my arm deactivated her, right?” Bucky asked into a pause in conversation.
“Yes, it looks that way,” Bruce replied.
“Can you scan it and see if there’s some sort of connection between the two?”
“Actually,” Tony said, “it shouldn’t even work anymore.” When everyone looked confused and more than a little concerned, he continued, “Practically nothing about the arm you have now is even related to the one HYDRA made.” Tony began pacing and gesturing as he talked. “Whatever it was that deactivated the Angel, shouldn’t be there anymore.”
“Unless it’s the vibranium itself,” Clint said quietly. You could have heard a pin drop.
“FRIDAY, contact Wakanda, and get their full specs on Barnes’ arm.”
“In all my spare time?” the AI sassed.
Tony sighed loudly before adding, “please.”
“Do you want King T’Challa or Princess Shuri’s line?”

FanFic Friday #11 || Weekly Reading List (September 22nd, 2017 - September 28th, 2017)
Hello!! :D
Week eleven!! It’s the usual suspects categories this week so no extra ones have been added. Something that is new (sort of since I did this in the last one as well), if I have multiple fics by the same writer, they are only tagged once. Their username is still there, it’s just not linked. I am doing that simply because I had been asked if I could tag others in these lists so they could check out the stories listed (just shoot me an ask if you’re interested :) ) and tumblr can get wonky if too many people are tagged so this is my way of pushing that issue under the rug :)
: Each of these fics are ones that I have read over the course of the week as I perused Tumblr (marked by ♦) and Archive of Our Own (Ao3) (marked by ☼). If I found that a fic was posted on both platforms, links to both posts can be found. You’ll also find that they are sorted by character and ship and most have some detail about what the story contains - mostly if it’s a reader insert, nsfw, or if it features a trope. It’s also very likely that I forgot to give one of those warnings, but the fic itself should have them listed so make sure to check those. But, please, if you read a fic you love just go ahead and share it so others have a chance at reading it :)
Now I guess it’s time to list the stories ;)
