The fight for justice starts with a little invitation...
Tumblr media
...because evil is prevalent and vehement.
Here's a reminder that Season 2 of The Fiery Priest is scheduled to air on Friday, November 8, 2024 in South Korea. The Fiery Priest is the second of Park Jae-Beom's "Justice Trilogy" as it's frequently called (Chief Kim aka Good Manager ; The Fiery Priest; Vincenzo in order of release) and I would love an invitation into screenwriter Park's brain because his creations are so very very good.
On this blog, I frequently talk about movies but dramas, specifically "kdramas," are another delight and from script to director(s) to casting to cinematography and soundtrack, this trilogy holds a special place for me. I think I could write a novel on the themes and scenes in Vincenzo alone. When not only the titular character but the entire cast keeps you watching, you know it's the good stuff. So happy all three shows were twenty episodes and didn't follow the more current trend of shortening the season. The slow character development enabled the viewer to discover individual stories without muddying up the plot too much.
I'm looking forward to watching as soon as Season 2 of The Fiery Priest is available for me to view, and if you haven't seen any of the above shows, I recommend them!
*Pictured above: Kim Nam-Gil as Father Kim (top) and Song Joong-Ki as Vincenzo. Two unconventional "heroes" fighting the good fight.

THE NIGHT OWL
GENRES: Historical, Drama
SUMMARY: An adept, blind acupuncturist must balance his family’s livelihood, the health of the royal family, and his personal secret.
THIS MOVIE HAS EVERYTHING: Poison, needles, palace politics, Ming vs Qing, heirs to the throne, night watches, workplace courtships, royal tyrants, magnifying glasses, and lots of medicine.
HOT TAKE: I don't really have any complaints about this one. It's a good what-if historical take on real palace tragedies, it uses cinematic light and day to its advantage, and the stakes are worthy of an edge of your seat position!

For the planned American adaptation of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”, this would be how I’d cast the series:
(Note: obviously the names would be changed due to the difference in setting)
1) Kayla Cromer as Woo Young-woo
2) Rish Shah as Lee Jun-ho
3) Lance Reddick as Jung Myung-seok
4) Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Woo Gwang-ho
5) Chloe Bennet as Choi Su-yeon
6) Anthony Ramos as Kwon Min-woo
7) Maya Hawke as Dong Geu-ra-mi

HOMME FATALE
GENRES: Historical, Romance, Comedy
SUMMARY: A gisaeng’s son turns the profession upside down and finds a little unrequited love in the process.
THIS MOVIE HAS EVERYTHING: Nudists, effortless charm, guilt, duty, monks, dancing, listening, bookstores, Thailand dreams, Joseon courtship, reluctant marriages, arson, perfect portraiture, and empowerment.
HOT TAKE: I was expecting this to be a strait up drama and was delightfully surprised that it also had a heaping helping of Lee Jun Ho charm and humor! Goodness is he just the best or what?
This movie also dove deep into the disastrous pitfalls of striving for the status of 'virtuous woman,' having fun in safe spaces, and supporting each other despite all odds.
An excellent watch--highly recommended!
